He's tight with the A D, going back to the year they shared together at Arkansas State when you hire Brian Whoreson. And you get rid of a coach of the caliber of dust balls on who's not this great coach. I'm not gonna say he's great, but he's very good. He was actually able to beat Alabama few times. You have this big juggernaut in your conference in Alabama. That basically makes it impossible and the SEC I'm sure Georgia fans are gonna start to get tired of Kirby Smart, who was just in the national championship game a few years ago. Now. Since then, he had that big epic blunder. I still can't believe that fake punt and the SEC title game against Alabama but really The higher Brian Whoreson was underwhelming when you Get rid of the guy of the caliber of Gus Malzahn. And we hear we heard some things you know, just through various reports and whatnot. I guess they were trying to target marry a crystal ball. And they didn't end up getting him. Then the steel higher, never ended up happening, which often fans clearly wanted to stop. So That whole triangle. Where you see that Tennessee gets Heiple. And Auburn. That's horse in And UCF gets Gus Malzahn. It's It's kind of amazing to me, Ryan That the smaller school the power six school as they like to call themselves. Ah, get nepotism. I think Tennessee fans remember when Danny White was that U. C s and he jumped up and down like microwave popcorn when he's CF was undefeated, and he called out the big programs and Kind of make a made a scene and I don't think really anybody in the South kind of took that seriously. Especially SEC. Teams know what it's like to play. Uh Strong defense is weak in and week out and stronger competition. Well, that's an interesting point, Amos and thanks for the phone call, thanks for being gracious about everything. I appreciate it. It does feel like it was a backroom deal like Hey, this is my guy. I didn't really look too far. I want to work with my guy. Let's get in the front door. So I understand that skepticism. What I would also counter, though, is Maybe Josh Heiple actually was the best candidate after throwing up a wide neck. Remember. The Tennessee has had major turnover at the head coaching position over the last 12 years. They have become an afterthought of the SEC East, where Georgia and Florida have run laps around him. Given annual game against Alabama. And they have the carnage of the Sensi double a investigation where you're gonna have major players leave and transfer. And it's gonna be hard to build back up. You're kind of waiting for the anti Double eight. Eo, drop the guillotine on you, and so it's not a desirable job right now. And so the way that I look at this is this Josh Heiple. Exciting is offense is impressive. His coaching record kind of getting worse and worse by the year isn't The fact that he was hired by his buddy, Is it exciting, but he does have a good track record with quarterbacks. But Tennessee, unfortunately, might not have better options right now. So If Heiple is there through this rocky era. And he delivers some exciting offenses and he developed some exciting quarterbacks, and he steadies the waters because him and a colleague coworker And a friend of Danny White are able to Maneuver their way through the politics that have kind of beset Tennessee before then it might be the guy that you need at the time right now, but not the guy. Long term. People might be the right bridge right now. Getting you over this rocky point to where you could then hire the next really impressive candidate that excites everybody. Tennessee has 100,000 people that will show up two Saturdays in the fall. They've got history. They've got Heisman Trophy winds. They've got national championships. They've got NFL pros. They've got a lot a lot, and they should not have to be a punch line. So for evolves, fans That were underwhelmed yesterday like this is the best we can do, Josh Heiple. Get it. Because it absolutely feels like the athletic director Danny White, who was hired from UCF didn't look very far to get his guy or Ah, bunch of people turned it down. They had to end up settling for Heiple. The idea that Hypo was the number one choice is obviously fraudulent. He was not He could not be the number one choice. A guy that won six games last year cannot be the number one choice from a group of five school for a SEC team. Get it. And that frustration by balls fans is totally valid. Will say. The reason that Tennessee's in this spot Is a bunch of busted hires of guys that couldn't get the job done and a Very Disturbing and dysfunctional coaching, search and power play by donors and media members that end manipulating What the public should want. And that whole issue is is another can of fish. It's a whole different situation where it's not always hiring the right guy. It's hiring the guy that makes people happy, and that's not always the right guy. So if Heiple ends up being the right guy, But did it make people happy? So be it. Who cares? If you're underwhelmed that he ends up being there for 10 years great. I always felt this way. Tennessee needs a guy that feels like this is a great job and not some type of saving it out of a burning wreck. And If Heiple can do that, and he can streamline some of the issues with administration because he knows the A D. That's good. He comes from an offensive background. People have always Considered him a bright offensive mind that's good as well. He also needs to be able to win recruits because they are hemorrhaging players after another go around with another coaching search, improved getting the ax. All of these recruiting coordinators and assistant coaches getting the ax is well in under investigation. So you need somebody who's stable. But who also has a little bit of time dynamic personality because What happened with Butch Jones was He won some games. But Butch just always seem to say the wrong thing was absolutely anti dynamic was the Undine Amick? And that combination made a lot of people real board. Although I will say Butch Jones, you know, going 85 or seven and six. Sounds not bad right now, after what happened to Jeremy Pruitt So I think the thing is, you could be underwhelmed. But if if the salute If this is a fit in the solution so big, you'll take it. You just want to get out of the cycle of embarrassment. That's the key here. And I don't blame balls fans for being Tauron at this, okay? Yeah. I mean, I want to believe in the guy, but I can't believe the guy because the program never gives me any any reason to believe.
