"So impossible. I was gonna say Philly because of basically like a club the entire game, but then you'll see where we think the people were on their feet for 6 hours and 22 minutes, which seems unhealthy and really, really cool. So maybe Seattle is two, and then Philly, but that's no disrespect to it. I mean, just absolutely insane. And by the way, then you've Cleveland, and you grown adults in SpongeBob outfits for Oscar Gonzalez expecting that he would have another crazy hit and he did hear that walk off on Saturday. I mean, the entire atmosphere baseball on Saturday was amazing. I know there were a lot of sports going on on Saturday, but that was one of the best overall days we have had of this sport in a really long time, just so much energy. Yeah, and you know, singing to that, this question, the fun idea of trying to rank this. Is that I think I would have put Philadelphia third, too, and I'm with you. And I was trying to figure out why I would do that. And I think part of it is that there's such a unique energy in San Diego. There's a unique energy in Seattle where on the other hand, the Philadelphia energy is something we've seen and I remember first feeling and noticing it in the mid 80s when I'd watch games between the Celtics and the Lakers where the Boston Celtics crowd there was this tension and the balls being dribbled up the floor and you hear them grumbling and it was a depth to the cheers, which I think we hear every postseason whenever there's one of these scenes in the northeast, Boston, Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium mets fans in Philly fans, like those four cities, I feel like there's a sound that's fairly common among those four teams. Does that make sense? Yeah, I agree. And there's something about, I mean, you know, you think about droughts, you think about the fact that even though the Phillies had the second longest postseason drought entering this year, they won World Series not that long ago. And then you think of the team where the owner, Peter Sadler, came on Sunday baseball and referred to the team that they just took down the Dodgers as that dragon up north. I mean, that is a different kind of energy. And of course, the Mariners who basically made up for 21 years of not being in the playoffs and one game, the only thing the fans didn't get to see is a run sport, so hopefully they get that next year, but again, that's no disrespect to the Philly fan base that I know is, you know, prone to fight back and I'm not saying any disrespect at all, but you know, it's almost a compliment. They have been here as opposed to the other two teams that and fan bases that have not been here in this situation are really long time. Yeah, I was texting back and forth with Peter seiler over the weekend about how this must be a dream come true for him. You love the fact that he, as owner of the Padres, he's trying to win. So he paid in a way that previous ownerships didn't. And guess what? Everything that was out there this weekend after their investment and the trade for Juan Soto and Josh hader and the money they spent at Manny Machado, they had a fan base that really enjoyed that and that was really fun. All right, let's play the numbers game. Number three number three is 6. So we'll start with the Patriots and we're just discussing them. So they lost all 6 regular season series to the doctor and then defeated them in the playoffs. So they became the fourth team to lose every regular season series to a team and then defeat that team in the playoffs with at least four series. The others were the twins over the Blue Jays. In the 1991 ALCS, the Dodgers, of course, opened the mats in the ED 8 ML CS and the Phillies over the Dodgers in the 83 NLCS, but all of those teams only played four series in the regular season. The fact that they played them 6 different times lost all of those serious and then game and one when it mattered most. I mean, it was just incredible. And of course they won 22 fewer regular season games in the Dodgers that is the second largest regular season wind upset in a postseason series. The only other one none of us remember in the moment because we weren't there with the 1906 World Series when the White Sox upset the 161 cups. Number two number two is 18. So of course we had 18 innings in Seattle on Saturday just an incredible scene across the board and it was the fourth 18 and in game in postseason history. And what I love about it is that of course these games come to be defined, but the person who did the thing. And did the game in some way. So we had 2018 the max muncy game when he had that walk off home run, of course people also think of Nathan, even though we gave up that home run, I think he gets a lot of credit for that game. Then we have in 2014, the brand of belt game, he had a go ahead home run like Jeremy Pena did, and then we had the 2005 ML Diaz, the CRISPR game, 18th inning, walk off, and I love the fact that there have been two 18 and clinchers inclusive in history and both were by the Astros. There's just one of these weird oddities. Of course, with Pena and then with Chris Burke in 2005.

"Exactly I'm really glad that Taylor was not specific. Thank you. Anytime. I'm going to go do the best I can here to make it a clean sweep. We'll see what Jeff's answer is. I believe that what adley rushman is doing as a rookie as they left as they excuse me, switch hitting 24 year old catcher is pretty close to remarkable. If you just sort of exclude the first dozen or so games he's played, he's been among the ten best hitters in the sport. The Baltimore Orioles have had a top 5 pitching staff over that time and there have been very few catchers that have ever come along with sort of the blend of skills that he has. Rodriguez is a unicorn, a legit 40, 40 candidate someday down the line, but Richmond's collection of skills, I think, will make him the best of that group, at least through his 20s. You are not getting a clean sweep. This is Julio territory. Julio Rodriguez, number one is younger. Number two, I think his ceiling is higher. But the real reason that I think he's the guy here is that he's going to play a 150 to a 160 games a year and adley rushman. I'm sorry, catcher's just don't do that. And they don't do that because they can't last. It is a hard position to go over a 120 games a year and maybe they can find some room for him at designated hitter or maybe you'll play a little bit of first base, but it's just the volume of played appearances ultimately. And the fact that Julia Rodriguez plays a premium position in center field. The fact that he, he runs, he hits for power. He hits for average. If there were any deficiency in any of those places, adley probably would squeeze in through that little marrow opening, there just isn't Julio is everything you want in a young baseball player. Add on deck report. Braves, Phillies, Padres and brewers, who is the odd one out and you know what? We're not gonna do order come playoff time. Let's just stick with braves Phillies Padres brewers, four playoffs, three playoff spots, four teams, ambo, who's out. I think the brewers are out. And I think the brewers are out because they're not going to win their division. I favor the Cardinals. The cardinals have a much easier schedule as do the Phillies. The Padres, I think, will find a way into the playoffs despite the Fernando tatis suspension because of all of what they did at the trade deadline. Obviously, right now, Josh hader looks like he disaster, the hope there, of course, is that he'll correct that. But ultimately, the braves are a shoo in that I think is obvious. The Phillies have a really easy schedule for the next three weeks and are doing all of this without Bryce Harper, the combo of Wheeler, nola, and Suarez has been a really underrated trio. And my judgment across baseball here over the last year or so. And also, I guess, as a result, sort of by default, I'll say Milwaukee will be the team out there. What they do is remarkable given their payroll or lack thereof. But you can only win so many one run games over such a long period of time. Producers, any hot takes, not really, I was really, I don't know. I'd think the Phillies are gonna miss out. I would love to see them make it though. They're like fun and annoying to watch all at the same time, which is an encapsulation of Hamburg feelings on them. From at nixie Parker, Jeff, if you were really hungry, how many pizza rolls could you eat in one sitting? "All are more recognizable, at least in their team's markets than veering. But fearless agent is friendly with an executive at car shield, which is based in St. Louis hometown, that was the initial connection. It was a good opportunity for him to get his face out there, his agent says, and I have to tell you for his first time doing it, he was really darn impressive. In late March, on a day off in spring training, veering made the 45 mile drive from the Phillies complex and clear water to State College of Florida's campus in Bradenton for the shoot. It lasted a little more than an hour, he thinks he did about 20 takes taking swings both with his bat and as a thespian by reeling off lines packed with baseball jargon. So he says I'm not an actor. We filmed it, and yeah, now it's on TV. It's pretty funny. The interesting thing is that veering said, I know a thing or two about game winning hits, which at that point in his career, I don't think he had one. He has since had what he had a big one off of Josh hader, so maybe he didn't know a thing or two, but why have him say that? Why not him know something about good defense? I don't know. It just all of it is kind of confusing. And apparently if you're from St. Louis and you can call it car shield executive, you too can have a car shield ad. Wow. And they had to have done two shoots, right? 'cause they have teams. Like a Ford end in Arizona. Like the Dodgers don't train in Florida anymore as we've learned. Yeah. And this is not the end of their sponsorships and even their baseball sponsorships. So they must be just blowing their marketing budget on baseball. There is actually a collegiate league that is sponsored by car shield the car shield collegiate league. It's based at car shield park in O'Fallon, Missouri. What? It was formed in 2020. So yeah, there is a whole league called the car show collegiate league. They play at car shield field. And it's not that they only have baseball pitch people. They also have another strange assortment of celebrities, like if you go to their website, they say, we are becoming a household name. And I guess we're doing our part on this podcast. If you thought car shield sounded familiar, you're probably right through sponsorships with NASCAR, endorsements with celebrities like Ice-T, Chris Berman, Larry MC Reynolds, early Hudson, Ric Flair. Whoo. Vivica a Fox, et cetera, et cetera. They're like some NHL versions of this. One of the guys from Shark Tank is on here who's supposedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars, so I don't know why he needs the car shield money, but he's not actually yours. Perhaps perhaps that is why. But it is just, I don't know, like what the criteria are for like, are you a car shield person? Are you car shield material? It's basically like, are you from St. Louis? Do you know what car shield executive? Are you a baseball player of some sort? Then good news. You can have a 30 or 62nd spot with us. And I do need to know if these are the people who call me all the time about extending my warranty, because you don't drive, but I do, and I'm fine, you guys, if this finds its way back to you, I would like to be off of your list, please. Yeah. You could do a complete ranking of these and I encourage someone to steal that idea if they need to produce content somewhere. But I will say like the deliveries of the baseball players almost universally terrible to the point where I'm not sure whether they were instructed to be bad on purpose. Yeah, like don't learn your lines. Don't rehearse. I mean, I guess players are just driving over during an off day during spring training. They didn't put a ton of prep into this, but they look, it's almost charming in a way, just like how unpracticed they are and how clearly they are reading. And it almost enhances the comedic effect when they are going for a comedic effect, which is another weird thing, like sometimes the ads are supposed to be funny, and sometimes they are not at all, although they may be intentionally funny anyway, like there's a Dylan Carlson version that is kind of funny where they're like playing up the fact that they are just layering in all of these baseball puns and references and everything and kind of playing around with that. Car shield is magic..

"And by using that measure, hater is baseball's second most impactful player at any position buster since the start of last season. Here's the top 5. Shohei Ohtani, Peter. Aaron judge, Bryce Harper and Rafael bevers, a relief pitcher and for superstar position players. There is no way that you can overstate the impact Josh hader has on his team winning baseball games. I'm really glad you didn't note on him. I feel like I've short changed him this week as that dominus continues. So thanks for doing that. I was talking with Carl rabbit about the Red Sox turnaround offensively, which is pretty remarkable. Plus, there are a couple of weeks ago you might recall. I did this bit on the podcast called panic or patience. And I said, we should panic about the Red Sox. That's how badly they were performing. Well, as you identify this morning on your Twitter account, over the last 15 games, the road socks have scored 112 runs and hit 26 homers. It's been nearly 20 years since they had a stretch. That prolific offensively. And I think the most illustrative thing here is that in the three game series against the White Sox that they just finished, they hit 6 360 three as a team with 33 runs on 45 pits. They played the White Sox in a three game series earlier this month in which they hit two 16 as a team with 5 runs on 22 hits. It has come fast. And while Trevor story has obviously got a lot of their credit lately, it's been Devers, bogarts, and Martinez. The two three four hitters that rudder the ship. Buster, the collective batting average from the Red Sox two three four spots in the batting average this year in the lineup this year is three 27, a third of their lineup is sitting three 27. Right now, JD Martinez is hitting three 80. It is unheard of in today's climate to have any collection in your order, especially higher percentage of your at bats with that kind of production. I picked the Red Sox to make the playoffs before the season began. If they're going to hit anything close to this, they're going to make it all the way back and it's just going to come down to can they pitch it up and can they catch enough, but we know for sure they can hit enough. You see the Red Sox play at Fenway Park next Tuesday against the Cincinnati.

"Jones field covers baseball for ESPN and Dave. David Roberts said it at the game last night. We got what we all wanted, what we all want, Dodgers, giants, deciding, game 5, between the team, the one that nationally west and the Giants 107 wins. The Dodgers with a 106 wins. Do you have a strong feeling either way about game 5? No, I mean, first of all, how exciting is this buster? It's only the 5th winner take all game and MLB history between two, 100 win teams last one was the Dodgers astral and the World Series in 2017. So, yeah, it's only the division series, but historic game, no, I don't have a strong feeling either way other than it's going to be a low scoring game, especially with the way Logan web, pitched in that opener. So it's going to come down to a great defensive play of blue pit. Something like that. I think it's going to be like a two to one game. Yeah, and that's what stood out to me in the series is how great the defense is. And we know this about a Rhea who's going to start for the Dodgers. He in afraid. I think that's pretty clear. And my question coming into this series was, okay, Logan Webb. His first time on the big stage and how would he respond? He seemed like he wasn't afraid at all. Yeah, he was cool that night, his change Jeff was just unhandled, so if that pitch is diving and darting like it didn't game one, it's going to be tough for the Dodgers to score off him. But yeah, urea, doctors have won his last 12 starts. He's on a roll. We saw what he did last October. I expect him to give Dave Roberts a good. He'll go, he'll probably go to the pen early, but I expect 5 or 6, you know, a really good innings out of him. And we'll die more into the Dodgers giants game 5 on Thursday's podcast, leading up to the game. What kind of shot to give the braves against the winner of that game in the national league championship series? Amazing yesterday. The braves, they really shut down the locky, most importantly, the bullpen was pretty good. Will Smith got the job done, Tyler Matt said, looks like he's throwing strikes again. But, yeah, no doubt. The winner of LA, San Francisco, heavy, heavy favorite, you know, we're going to end up with one of the biggest win differentials between two teams in LCS that we've ever seen. You know, Brad is only one 88. They can win it, but that certainly would not pick them. Yeah, they know we got from ESPN stats and info overnight about that. The braves with 88 wins still face the Dodgers, 106 or giants 107, either way, it'll be the 5th largest wind differential in an LCS round since 1969. The team with a better record one three of the four matchups with only the 2001 Mariner, sorry, Dave, losing to the Yankees, the braves are now just four wins away from each of the World Series for the first time since 99. Entering this year, they'd gone 12 straight playoff appearances that without reaching the World Series, which is tied for the longest streak all time. That was a surprise. I got to say like the braves, they're definitely some mojo going on, and I don't know if it's because of the constant text from getting from my son. The big breaks fan? But they're playing with some confidence right now. Yeah, you know, they do, no doubt. Match free, you know, remember, he started the year scuffing a little bit, but he's been really great for about four months now. Ian Anderson, you know, is a good pitcher. I think they would have preferred to have Charlie Morton ready to start game one, but he pitched yesterday. But, you know, good rotation. The bullpen is your son knows that's gonna be the key for the braves. Yeah. And you're right. You know, if you were angry, Will Smith text and then I got during the course of the summertime. That's for sure. And right now, I don't know and look, you know, you watch the you watch the Astros in their series and Bregman was great and foray it was great and you know all these themes have reliable hitters. I don't know if there's a hitter I would rather have up in a big situation than Freddie Freeman because he was approach. Versus lefties versus righties, you know it's going to be a tough at bat. Yeah, no, I mean, Josh hader, first home run, he allowed to lefty all year, hadn't given a run since July 28th. But that's what Freddie does. He can hit home runs, the right field, to left field, he took care to the opposite field. You know, and remember, this could he's not signed yet for 2022, so I'm not predicting these are his final games and a braves uniform, but small chance that they are, let's sit back and enjoy him in that uniform. I just want to note as we talk about what happened in the braves and brewers game yesterday that replay actually non replay situation happened with that foul ball hit in the air and the question of whether or not the ball was caught. By the third baseman, it was one of those calls that just it drives me crazy because I know and right away when I talked about how that replay decision makes no sense. I got a text from someone at Major League Baseball. That's not reviewable. I get it. But Dave to me, if you have a call that everyone watching knows was wrong and you can't fix it. On a question of whether or not the ball is caught or not something is wrong. Yeah, and we've seen this with some of those other controversial calls this postseason where sometimes it just doesn't pass the common sense test. And this obviously falls into that category. The ball hit the ground, common sense says the matter is still alive. He's not out. So based really needs to review some of its rules..

That's going on here but say number two over the weekend. Of course we had our ninth no hitter thrown here in the twenty twenty one season. This one was by. The milwaukee brewers. It was the first no hitter in team history since nineteen eighty seven. It's been since one nia vase on april fifth. Nine thousand nine hundred eighty seven against the orioles but the knife no hitter. This one was a combined. No hitter by corbin burns in josh. Hader gordon burns went to i. Eight innings of the outing. He was at a hundred and fifteen pitches through those eight innings and he came out after the game and said he had to fight to go back out there for the eighth inning. So he knew he probably wasn't going to win the battle going back out for the ninth. But josh hader came in to finish off the no hitter and complete the outy but gordon burns. He was perfect through seven innings and ultimately a walk in the seventh eliminated the perfect game and made it. Of course the ninth no hitter the nine. No hitters is the most in a major league baseball season in the history of baseball topping. Eighteen eighty four for most in a year. Now this is pending the inclusion of the negro leagues statistics. So this could fluctuate not your how many no hitters were thrown during any of these other seasons. Where eight no hitter seven no hitters were thrown to possibly get to that nine or ten mark but the ninth no hitter as of right now certainly a record when it comes to major league baseball during a year again. The first one since nineteen eighty-seven quick math twenty four years ago for the milwaukee brewers the victory in this game also pushed the brewers to a franchise best thirty three games over five hundred and had their magic magic number down to seven so burn. See fantastic it came out and say he came out and said pushing. The pitch count probably wasn't the smartest idea They're really battling towards october. And that's when things are more important than coming out after eight innings was the right move so i'm sure he fought back a little bit in the moment but after hater was able to get outs. Twenty five six and seven. Everything was good for burns and he was happy with the result so burns now on the year. After these eights no hit innings. He improved at ten four on the season. He has eight to five. Era in twenty five starts. He's got one hundred and fifty two pitched two hundred and ten strikeouts in a point. Nine one whip our walks hits per innings pitched he also has a thirty five point four percent strikeout rates which after this start was tied with max scherzer for the lead in baseball. He has a seven point one fan graphs calculated. War wins above replacement and a national league. Best four point nine percent walk rate. Of course this is. The guy who earlier in the year set the major league baseball record for consecutive strikeouts without a walk at fifty eight so corbin burns continues to push his name. That national league cy young conversation and every outing he's been better and better and it certainly fascinating to see if he can continue to push down the stretch here and have his name at the top of the list when it comes to that conversation but i did want to look at some facts and figures from the brewers no hitter. I always liked to dive into some of the history. That's taken place. Some of the numbers basically how it he volved how they were able to get it done. How dominant ultimately was the no hitter itself and born burns had fourteen strikeouts in this outing again. Up in his season total to two hundred and ten he had a career. High one hundred fifteen pitches which they didn't wanna push him they're out for that ninth-inning so But in a year packed with no hitters burns and haters no hitter certainly looks like one of the most dominant and Burns in hater. Bring major league baseball second longest team. No hitter drought to inet. The brewers had played five thousand. Four hundred and seventy three games between the eva's no no against the orioles in eighty seven in the combined. No hitter that. Took place on saturday night. The majors longest no hitter. Drought currently belongs to the cleveland indians. So the cleveland guardians they have not had a no hitter since len barker back in nineteen eighty one. And the brewers again where second on that list and now second place goes to the toronto blue jays. Dave sti- are steeb on september. Second nineteen ninety three one against the indians back in the day. So other brewers my goodness five thousand. Four hundred and seventy three games in between knows ends the second longest drought in major league baseball. Once again this was the ninth no hitter this year which is a major league record. I've talked to you guys about every one of so shout out to baseball for giving me content here to talk about when it comes to no hitters twenty twenty one season but burns ater authored the sixteenth combined no hitter in baseball history and this was the second combined no hitter here in twenty twenty one the cubs earlier this year against the dodgers back. In the month of june through a combined no hitter there were also two combined no hitters back in two thousand and nineteen had happened twice in major league baseball. Once in two thousand nineteen the astros in the angels had combined no knows thrown that year and then in nineteen ninety. You had the braves in orioles do it all the way back in the early ninety s. It was the first time for the indian slash guardians. Now we're going to get to another style with them later. It was the first time in team history that they had suffered at the hands of a combined. No hitter the Indians are getting a lot of practice being on this side of knows but man the first time they had done it for a combined no hitter but speaking of the indians there the first team in major league baseball history to be no hit three times in a single season when you are playing the indians the percentages of you throw a no hitter that day or higher than any other team in the history of major league baseball three times already this sees it they have been no hit and this also doesn't count the seventeen no-hitter that was thrown against them on july seventh by the tampa bay rays so but this number at three and a half for three and seven nights. They've been no hit three nine inning games and one seven inning game this year. The indians in guardians haven't been able to muster up a hit and they're the first team in major league baseball to have that happen to them in one. Season brewers manager. Craig counsel of course was tagged with making the tough decision to take burns out after the eighth inning..

"Basically starting pitchers were were being Were earning fifty. Eight to sixty percent of the wins by market was sixty fifty eight sixty for march april may june and then july when fifty four forty six august that maintained a fifty four forty six and then as we wake up this morning here two months into the in december. It's fifty seven. Forty three relievers so it is completely flipped around And then when i looked at that as okay maybe this is a one year anomalous go back and look at the most recent september's and so these are the the percentage of wins up. Went to relievers over the last full. The last four full seasons in two thousand sixteen thirty eight percent two thousand seventeen thirty two percent two thousand eighteen forty five percent in two thousand eighteen forty seven percent and so you saw a bit jumping eighteen and nineteen but here we are twenty one fifty seven percent of wins and that was the same. When i started looking at this article last week it was fifty seven percent so two weeks into september. It hasn't changed at all and so we'll be start talking about because We're gonna be talking about to start pitchers here and i make the case in the article. aren't automatics. And even a one star. It's got to be a really nice matchup but you as you as we go into. Your league stole allowing you to pick up free agents this week. Stare long and hard at the reliever pulled. Try to find some of those relievers. Obviously you're you're trying to look for guys that pitch In good situations but even then there's no gimme because someone. I looked back and said okay. Who's got multiple wednesday in september and scott f ross. Was one of those guys suck. But he had two wins in the first week of the season. Just the sheffield yes. The mariners are still competing justice. Sheffield did a great pitch. Too many things got two wins. I mean what else could you ask for that. And it's really tough thing that try to chase down. These wins relievers. And i fully get that. But that's where the winds are going right. Now they're going to relievers because some of these teams are starting to say okay. We have to. I've got a ten game lead. I don't have to stretch these guys out. I'll go ahead and pull this guy. Four innings are. I'm gonna pull him at sixty five pitches and i. I need to think about the rest of the calendar. That i have ahead of me and not just the the immediacy. I think you even saw this. Last night. with the corbin burns combined. No hitter Hundred fifteen pitches and corbin burns's yo. He'd already missed a little bit of time. They've done the six man rotation but they didn't even give him the chance. I'm josh hader is out there to start the ninth inning. The most other managers would have sent burns out there. But milwaukee's gotta think about the extent of their calendar and we all recognize that nobody really wants to be mashed up them in the playoffs when they can throw a at burns a woodruff peralta the back end of that bullpen against you in a series. It's a really tough match-up for them. Then so kudos the council for doing what he did last night in the face of all i could hear all the old school screamers on my god. You'll even part of me on twitter. Said i would at least give them a have somebody brady i kind of get it but i also said i respect council for doing what he did it about the bigger picture. Yeah i mean. I think he made the right decision. The team more portent and end the playoffs or more importantly And it's not like he was turned into over to some schlub. he's turned it over to the best yet. Breasts relief pitcher right in the game and thank god eight or got it. 'cause if hater given it up giving up ahead I think we all would have been second guessing that decision but is there excellent. Especially because the bruce have been team that have said they want to plant more conservative with these workloads And we're going to see a lot. More teams especially teams that have fallen out of the play offs or teams that have racked already. Locked up a playoff spot. Start to become more conservative. I still think you know all those teams we're talking about fighting for wildcard spot in the al or frightened for division. Still you know they may push some guys a little bit more. But i think. I think we're gonna see a lot more reliever winds I you know s- time to really start digging to resource and looking for these. These ash guys That might be able to pick up some cheap cheap winds down the stretch But i agree. We're gonna talk about a lot of to start pitchers here right now And some of them were just probably gonna say i'd rather just pick up a reliever that that's what i think. That's you know that's kind of things we need to start thinking about is balancing whether or not we want these two star pitchers or even one start pitcher versus a reliever. That might be able to sneak. Cheap win that way. And i don't even know if you're league one my own leagues we have a roster expansion role which i think is really cool. I'm going to do this but for five dollars a spot you can expand so like. I spent my pitching staff by two spots and through to relievers in there. So i have a an eleven man pitching staff right now. It's three starters. Eight relievers yeah. I think it's been. It's been a while since i was in my original only about five years but believe we had a september call up in a we. Could we could add one spot. There was no price or anything. It's astronaut suited atwood's spot. I think it's a really great idea. Honestly you know. I have the three. I would've added a third spot. Had i had a healthy bat. But i didn't like runs as really tight. The only healthy bad. I had was Victor carotene and when i look you've had three runs over the last month is worth adding five dollars or your as i discount so i got. I need a domino to come back. Because he's sitting on my i l. and like that i'll i'll add it for but that's kind of where that's where i'm stuck for. Thanks so but. I really liked the rule but i just looked at it and said you know what i've got relievers. I've been picking up one of the things i like to do. Especially in keep really is spec on future saves and so i will pick up guys on the cheap and keep them on my bench their middle relief and they don't get a job fine. I'll just dump them. But if they end up with the job then. I got a nice closer keeper time. So i i. I've been looking for some of these high leverage relievers to throw on my bench to see what happens in the off season. now. I'm saying you know what i'm just gonna use them anyhow. Might as well throw him in the lineup absolutely Let's let's move on and talk about these two start pitchers with..

Yeah, I mean, there are some days where the rain chances lower, like Wednesday and Thursday actually aren't looking too bad, only a 30% chance of rain on those days. It would only be in the afternoon for a few hours that we can see some pop ups. But for the most part, I think those two days will be your best to go out. Maybe it's like to the pool if you want to get some golf in But then Friday, Saturday Sunday a front will slowly come through again guaranteeing that all those days will have rain will get some downpours. But once that is out I like Tuesday. Next week, we might actually enter a slightly dryer set up, Which would be awesome because you know, it's been a been a little rainy. We pretty far ahead. Like where we're supposed to be so for the month of July were only like 2/10 of an inch above. But that's because of what fell on. You know that particular sensor for C B g. Um there are There are parts of town that through way above. It really just depends on where the downpours hit. I mean, I swear it used to be that it would get so dry by the middle of July and August that you really didn't have to cut your grass for a couple of weeks. That hasn't happened in years. I'd have to go back and look because I know there have been some summers where things have definitely dried out. And they were a little more traditional assist this summer is not giving us a break, so I will. I will do some research just for you. I'm answer that burning question for you. I'm gonna hold you to it to you should all right. Somebody needs to hold me to this. Absolutely Alright. Thanks. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Bye Bye. Temp is 68 right now. 700 WLW sports. "As soon as Chris Hook came to the mound. All of those consecutive fastball stopped and now Woodruff has gone into pitch mode, breaking balls, cutters. And fastball spotted around the zone. 02 is in the dirt, a curve ball down one ball and two strikes. But Does that give the Reds any sort of advantage Just because the fact that Woodruff is so used to relying very, very heavily on the fastball? Yeah, and I I think he will continue to rely on the fastball. But what he's got to do is he's got to back the Reds off from what their approach was coming in one to Suarez had cut the foul on a fastball over the inside corner. One to Suarez went the other way with a Josh Hader fastball last night and hit it a mile into the upper deck and right field game winner. That was a huge play for the Reds, a big hit for Suarez lifting the Reds over the Brewers last night. Here in Milwaukee pitch, Suarez swings and skies one out behind second base. J. Peterson is out there to make the catch. Suarez is the second out of the second inning. You and I were talking about how loud it got in here last night when they closed the roof right around the eighth inning when Suarez hit that ball into the right field. Second, Denk You could have heard a pin drop in here. I mean, you could hear the collective Wind out of this crowd Sales like one big gut punch to everybody that was in here. Everybody except Strong contingent of red fans that were Here last night. Here's Mike Freeman now and Freeman swings the first pitch, fouls it away to the left down his own one. Freeman's hitting 1 79 No homers, three R B I's. But Freeman was instrumental in the Reds win yesterday but from the defensive side On a relay throw from Winker gunned down a runner at the plate, and it was a spectacular relay throw from Freeman the one pitches in there for a called strike. And now he's down to the counter into It was in the sixth inning, and it was Omar.

"Due to do. It's the closer carousel all right. So we did our last show on tuesday and not a whole lot has happened since then. Although trevor rosenthal who a lot of people thought was going to be a top ten closer our hands arrays as well is officially done for the season. Hip surgery is pending yankees. Go to chad green for the save on wednesday. I think that was predictable. Maybe they give chapman the weekend off. Maybe chapman doesn't go to the all star game There's lots of guys who could replace worldwide woody. He's pitching so badly right now. Something's obviously either physically or mentally or mechanically wrong. I'm not trying to be facetious. Something's wrong something's definitely wrong. I mean he. He pitches the tuesday game. Yeah it was. It was an irrelevant relevant split in the in the score at the time and he walked two batters. I believe in that game still control issues. Something's clearly amiss. So that's why. I said pickup chad green. Maybe i'll get some saves. maybe as an injury list pending here Any other situations that changed. Marlins went to bender on On wednesday night and he blew it But he's still really good. And i think for the rest of the season i wanna write a piece next week about The second half closers preview. And i think i might say the is more valuable more value than you may garcia. I actually think benders going to be there closer for miami. The final two plus months. The fact that it's now two opportunities on garcia's night off and garcia's pitch very ineffectively over seventy ira. Since may i. i'm with. You can make that case just when you thought. Scott barlow was safe and kansas city. Pitch yesterday like sixth-inning so there's no safety in kansas city Unbelievable just unbelievable. They give them a couple of weekends. Saves athenee puts him in the sixth. I know he's trying to win the game. And he's his best pitcher. Yep and zimmer started to give up some runs of lay it just man so frustrating trying to figure it out and fancy who's going to get the saves and then something like that happens and you don't know you had one more to mention with cincinnati and your guy heath henry who blew it one night. He got the opportunity the next night. The managers confidence play and he pitched well in it. I think he is going to keep getting saves or save. Chances is as inevitable. You're going to give up home runs. I mean he's worse than hector narrows who gives up home runs and every- is going to give up home runs last year. I mean look. He's going to give up on so let's leave it at that. It's a temporary thing. But but they're they're giving them opportunities. I don't think it is i. I honestly don't think it is. I think you know it. We're still weeks away. Maybe four weeks from seeing lucas. Sims and tj antone. So i don't think it's i think i think embry. And and embry and the lefty mir garrett are gonna really well lately he's pitch virus they're gonna share it i think i. I don't think there's anything else we need to discuss. Because nothing else is really going on. We dealt with of suarez. Josh hader bluish save no big deal and detroit. You don't care about arizona got to saves this month that clearly walking sar story is clearly there. Close yeah i know. I can't believe it. They had to saves before we get to the schedule. And the pictures to watch for the next because this weekend. A funding here from From kyle a little category regress or reinvest is the first category. Have these players. Change your mind enough. In the first african to be buying their current trajectory or is the regression monster. Coming together in three three players for you. Taiwan walker i think. Ob the ground replace because the mess will have an also grandma's go kyle gibson who i think was bad yesterday and nicosia knows who's still plan really great killing righties pitching as well. Regress or reinvest on these regional collie is still two of these guys from the the hash brown question the other day and i think we were pretty firm on trying to cash in the gibson ship. I i'm about wowed. By taiwan walker. But i do lean towards believing and i'm in the castanos there's no am cashing in that chip by f- you know i'm a castanos fan. You know he's not gonna win an nfl mvp. But his team made a run. He could make a run like his numbers there. Yes if the reds were a game behind the brewers you could see a scenario where nicolaas is a potential envy pecan nationally. Because i mean burnett leads the player raider right now overall. And the padres are obviously and contention. So i think the teaser degrom would be probably grow would be the mvp choices at this point right there as well. I mean if it's fifty home runs to he he might win it. Atlanta makes her comeback. Mets are still allowing teams to be in the race but the national league really is going to be interesting to both leagues. because otani versus vlad. That's going to be lots of fun as well. The whoever has more home runs maybe but otani if it keeps pitching well. I i don't know how how you can't give it to him anyway. I agree with you on that. The next category here is rebound or reject buying low and hoping for a rebound or selling it hopes as name holds more weight than a rough. First-half reese stretch the names are charlie blackmon. Anthony rizzo and the yankee closer who we already discussed he. Probably will rebound. He just needs a week off but blackman areso. I'm not sure i'm reinvesting here. I don't think i'm expecting a rebound in the second half for rather one. I mean rizzo against ryan pitching's bedding to thirteen my goodness. Yeah yeah he starting to fall into kind of a split situation which is bothersome at that age. It shows the the downward agent curve. I want to believe in both of these guys. I think that the name brands are going to keep the price too high for my taste. I'd probably lean towards the rockies.

"Walk off two run single from struggling jeff mcneil and the bottom of the eighth as the mets raced. Three separate one run deficits the top. The brewers four two three jose peraza had the game tying pinch hit solo homer off josh hader in the bottom of the seventh i blown save and homer allowed by hater. This season back to mcneil the hero in the opener and he certainly needed it back. That was huge. Never had a walk off hit so that was a lot of fun. It was a fun celebrating with boy snow decision for grammy a lot. A couple of solo homers. That was it though. Ten strikeouts over seven including the fifteen hundred of his career afterwards made it official will not even attend all star festivities and colorado. Next week was kind of open. The air whether i'd go or not and then you know thinking about it. I think it's best for me in this team for me to not go and throwing that and just rest for the second half boomer and geo said yesterday morning and i was listening to those guys talk and they seem to make a lot of sense and i'm just going to follow their advice send you. How many times did he hit hundred yesterday. Lost count. I mean he was. He was rocking and rolling a couple couple of home runs you know solo variety. Yeah right. Gary cohen said that he's thrown more one hundred mile. An hour pitches than every other starting pitcher can buy last night. There was lewis a hundred man. They had it on us and white ridiculous number hundred seventy nine and the closest next closest guy was like twenty four yeah craze. Ns they get shutout in game. Two five zip left the bases loaded. They're in the sixth and that pretty much ended. It bought a series win over first place team and now they get the lowly pirates for four at city field potential all-star taiwan walker on the mound. Kevin Hart steps down as Oscars host

"Oscars. Well as often happens when things like this are announced. Offensive tweets that Kevin Hart had years ago. Came up and these tweets were reposted and made their way around social media. Many of these tweets were, very homophobic, and Kevin Hart had to sit here and realized that this was a big controversy. All of these tweets he had looked Kevin Hart's a comedian. And he tweeted out some things that he probably thought were funny. One thing was about his son growing up if he was gay. I would stop him from being gay. Now is this him talking tongue-in-cheek is this him being a hundred percent serious? I mean, you know, you don't know what's in somebody's mind when they want to tweet something, and again, these are tweets from years ago many as much as ten years ago. It got so bad. Kevin Hart stepped down as host of the Oscars. He was announced today, and he withdrew from hosting the Oscars. Now, the Oscars has to go look for somebody else to host the show because of these homophobic comments that were made on Twitter by him years and years ago, and the reason this intersection sports is because this is the same thing we saw earlier sear with Josh hater we saw with Josh Allen quarterback of the bills night of the NFL draft. All these racist tweets from Josh Allen from five years ago when he was in high school came up same thing with Josh Hader. Josh comes in all star game, boom. Neither the all star game. Here's some old tweets from Josh hater where he saying some very racist things. And Josh Hader, had to apologize for Josh Allen had to apologize for maybe fell a little bit through the draft because of it. But this has happened now. So many times mainly we saw it in the world. Of sports. But now, here's entertainment. And it's the first thing you think of when you see Kevin Hart is Josh and Josh Allen, and how many times and now you're wondering the next time. This is going to happen. Because believe me, there's people who have these tweets saved up waiting for the right moment to say, you know, what I'm gonna loose this on everybody. And you're going to see exactly what they said years and years ago some seven years ago eight ten years ago doesn't matter they use the curiosity in this particular case. And obviously, you can't it's like when we talk about these sarcasm font and it being necessary for Twitter, right where people take you at your word, Kevin Hart as a comedian and distasteful. Sure, we can have those discussions in the change of where the line is in a in a lot of discussion and a lot of where society and culture in a second in a lot of. Areas at this point. But this is something he's address before the something. He's talked about before. And he's continued to make at a minimum ten movie swabs GV appearances. Plus stand up tours whatever every year. This is not been a controversy. That's in persistent. So but now. But why why is the Oscars? The biggest thing he's ever done in his hosting the Oscars. That's the biggest thing. This is the pinnacle of his career hosting the Oscars. A really really big deal. Sure, it is you it's bigger than any movie he's ever done. It's a bigger audience at one point a bigger. Focus on him. No, no, focus on how bad or well. His his performance, you host the Oscars. It's the biggest moment of your career. Biggest moment of Seth Macfarlane's career. Biggest moments of Billy crystal's grand. These are guys that have had great careers. But you Oscars. That's something different. You're talking about a television audience. That's only rivaled by the Super Bowl. It's more people watch the super, obviously. So it's a little bit less than that. But you're talking about a television audience that that everybody is watching you this is about you. It's once in a lifetime. So this is when okay, what is really the most the most powerful time to strike at Kevin Hart. When a movie of his is coming out on a Friday or hey, your name is the Oscar host. You know, what bull here it is? Here's these Ray. And because the new cycle is owned by the fact that here, you are you're the Oscar host so people are paying attention to this story already. And now, here's where I come out with. Here's these tweets he had years and years ago that he's addressed and instead of bowing to the pressure from the Oscar said, hey, we need you to apologize. We need you to go and condemn what you said. And he's talked about it. Because look I was a different guy, then those jokes is part of the act, etc. And take him at his word or don't the reality is it's it's years in the past that has been addressed. He said, I'm not apologizing about I get that. Some of the things though are need a little bit more of an explanation. Maybe he's gonna regret it later because it's the Oscars. He's gonna say I'll buy I would have had to why did they not do this? It's the Oscars because right now his reputation is really low. You don't wanna turn into some look what happened to Mel Gibson for how many years he was like everybody's staying away from him. And he's had to come back in the shadows. And come back from from getting arrested in everything and he's not really all the way back yet. Kevin hart. I didn't need to apologize. But what explain some of this stuff? Just do something to say, why don't you want your son to grow up? I don't want to be a conversation about this. The it's mainly about how would you become famous? You have to realize, and this is what so many people on Twitter don't realize when they first get on it. It's not a group tech. Next right, Twitter's not a group. Text Twitter is not you and a bunch of people hanging out in the living room making jokes. But that's how people treat it like they're texting with their friends like, hey like athletes like Josh Allen. He's just fooling around in high school. He's around on Twitter with his buddies who were on Twitter. And it's a fun thing thinks like it's only the small circle of us. That are looking at things Twitter is a record is a physical record of you, your beliefs, and what you say, and everybody's got to realize that and athletes don't realize that you're not in a locker room hanging out talking and saying off color things and things that could be offensive. But because you're joking around in the locker room, everything is okay. That's not what Twitter is and people still don't realize that Josh hater didn't realize what Twitter was Josh Allen didn't realize it Kevin Hart, beginning didn't realize it. I can just say whatever I want to and part of it is when you're a comedian, and you're an athlete, and you're you're an entertainer. You're not really as beholden to things as you are. And you're an athlete because I. Could say what I want 'specially comedians because that's what they do some jokes are in bad taste, but they do that for a living. So you don't realize it. Okay. I need to be beholden to anybody. But then the stuff comes back, and you go, oh, it's really come back to bite me in the ass realize that Twitter what you tweet is a is a public record of who you are what you're saying. And the number one thing you should do if you're famous go back and scrub that Twitter account. Maybe people have it already and they're waiting for you to be famous. But if you're not famous people on hold onto stuff go and take a whole day, go through all your tweets scrubbed, the bad ones. Get rid of the bad ones. Go through everything just keep going, however long. It is go to Starbucks sit in front get that delete button ready and get rid of anything. You think I don't want this taken the wrong way? Someone might come back and see this get rid of it. But yet because there's still keeps happening and happening sports and people didn't pay attention happen to Kevin Hart. People are still going to let this go. And you're going to see this controversy continue with different people Jewish statements that he put up on Twitter just a little while ago. I made the choice to step down from. This year's Oscars. This is because they did not want to be a distraction on night that should be celebrated by so many talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past. I'm sorry that I hurt people. I'm evolving and to continue to do. So my goal is to bring people together not terrorists apart, much, love and appreciation d the academy. I hope we can meet again. So there's his apology. So there's this apology on twentieth. Politics, LG LGBTQ community. That's that's kind of getting that finally from him. So hoping that this turns the page and maybe doing it now. Maybe they wait a week and say, you know, what? No, we he apologizes. This is that and he could go in and host the Oscars again. But at the very least it's a wakeup call for everybody about not pressing send her we're gonna talk about Herm Edwards for thirty years. Don't press send one of the wisest things he ever said he says, he's a garage. I went back and tremendous job at the college level that was mocked and derided when it happened in. That's odd. Kevin hart. That's the t shirt I wear the next couple of days. So 'cause you know paparazzi is gonna fall around now because all the stuff that don't press N t shirt. He's in Australia. Sean Nukem, Turner and Josh Hader discussed on First and Last

"They sent many, many years ago. One of them almost had the crowning moment of his brief young career, Atlanta Braves, pitcher, Sean, nukem, nearly pitcher, no hitter against the dodgers yesterday came within a strike of throwing out of shutting out and no hitting the l. a. dodgers. But soon thereafter he was apologizing for tweets that were sent in two thousand eleven and two thousand twelve that were. Offensive. One tweet included a racial epithet. That was part of a rap lyric. Several others contained gay slurs. He spoke about his no hitter than he came back and issued a statement about the tweet, saying, quote, I just wanted to apologize for any insensitive material. It was a long time ago, six or seven years ago, saying some stupid stuff with friends. I know I've grown a lot since then. I didn't mean anything by it. It was just something stupid. I did a long time ago and I didn't mean anything by it for sure. This is very similar to the situation that brewers reliever, Josh Hader had to deal with the night of the all star game says MLB in a statement, quote, such inappropriate comments have no place in our game. We are aware of this serious issue. Billy Bean's going to meet with Mr. nukem this week, and we will identify an appropriate course of diversity training in the Atlanta community being as major league baseball, vice president for social responsibility and inclusion that Sean nukem. We also had Washington. National shortstop, trade Turner, who became the third major leaguer this month to have old embarrassing an offensive tweets resurface. These also day two thousand eleven two thousand twelve from when Turner was an eighteen year old. The tweets included a gay slur anti-gay comments and joke with racist undertones Turner on Sunday night issued a statement, saying quote, there are no excuses for my insensitive and offensive language on Twitter, Turner, like nukem is now twenty five years old saying quote, I am sincerely Sarli sincerely, sorry for those tweets. I apologize wholeheartedly. I believe people who know me understand those were credible actions do not reflect my values or who I am, but I understand the hurtful nature of such language. And I'm sorry to have brought any negative light to the nationals organization myself or the game. I love and his own statement, Mike Rizzo the GM of the national said Turner's tweets were quote inexcusable, but he also added Turner has quote, been a good teammate and model citizen in our clubhouse, and these comments are not indicative of how he's conducted. Himself while a part of our team Turner was second in the rookie of the year voting in two thousand sixteen hitting to sixty five with thirteen homers. This year old tweets were posted by Twitter user who cited earlier postings of old offensive tweets from Sean nukem. So we're back at this again right back to where we were a couple of weeks ago with Josh hater tweets, and it is a growing problem perhaps for major league baseball..
