"October, the first month of the year. He entered that clippers game shooting 67% on two pointers. He raised his average in that game. He's just, it's just so funny and it's been a little funny to me watching different people move the goalposts to fit their agenda where no one's even arguing whether jokic is deserving of the MVP. They argue whether these deserving of winning three in a row, which is a different conversation. It's like, their argument is nothing based on what's happening this season. It's, well, he's already won too. And historically, don't give out three in a row and I'm like, throw up my fault, they didn't have league pass in 1988. You know what I mean? And then I also got a kick out of feral mori. I have no issues with this and I think Maury's been kind of hilarious. And the way he tried to manipulate the media conversation this year in many directions. But him saying that embiid's MVP case, you know, it has to include his defense. When he used to campaign for James Harden, winning MVPs with the rockets. It's like very convenient how defense never came up there. It's just, yeah man, it's funny and I think yo kitchen this award. Let's hop around a little bit, Chris. I want to talk about a team that, you know, we put in the conversation with Boston the last time we had this, we did this podcast. They've won, like I said, 14 in a row now. The Milwaukee Bucks they have the best home record in the Eastern Conference. They're now in first place percentage wise in the east. Boston Elizabeth point differential NBA. They've kind of held studied there. All year long in terms of efficiency, they're offense, can still get to a level that I think will walk you even at their best doesn't really come close. But something I'll say about the bucks, I mean, they've done this largely with Chris Middleton coming off the bench like Chris Middleton's not playing his full compliment of minutes yet. They just got Bobby portis back, they're working in Jay Crowder it's Milwaukee, the east favorite in your eyes, is it Boston? I know last week I made you say who's gonna make the finals, but we're just kind of your confidence lie right now between Milwaukee and Boston. I don't fully know I'm in Milwaukee was my pick before the season started and I don't see reason to come off them, certainly with the 14 game win streak. I will say though that I think it's interesting, I realized in the last week how many Celtics fans I must follow because it's like the Boston media mafia's everywhere. The sky is falling lately, you know, they didn't like the way that they looked in the game against the Knicks last night, which was just a frustrating night for Boston. Embarrassing Tatum should be suspended for the postseason the way he disrespected the game. Tatum had a pretty great sweet yesterday. About the idea that maybe these are the basketball guys coming back to punish him for not calling the foul on him against LeBron when LeBron went crazy over not getting a foul call and fell to the floor really dramatically. But I mean, you're going to have games like that. I think, you know, one of the stories that isn't really being talked about enough nationwide, I think, is that the Knicks are better than people were expecting. I think that first of all, like a very legitimate team. And I wrote this in a column several weeks back in the newsletter that I think that Mitchell Robinson is one of the most impactful players in the league this year. And he's back and he's healthy. And you throw him in there with also Josh Hart, being a perfect heart has been so good. 6 in a row for the next 9 to February, they so I always put them low. I always put tib seems low generally in the entertainment value rankings. The fact that they have an offense that this fun to watch, man, the Knicks are fun. The Knicks are in good. They aren't good. That's the thing. I think it's actually beyond just fun. Like, I think when you're at 500, you can be fun. When you're 9 or ten games over 500, which I think their game away from being ten games over 500 went away. And you see the makings of what they've got, they've got a really athletic group between Mitchell. We just talked about Josh Hart and what he does in transition, the sorts of, you know, he could play up a position defensively, maybe even two. Quentin Grimes is getting more time. And not to mention that by having Josh Hart and Grimes that if one of those two or we'll add in a third guy, RJ barret who's not played very well lately, but in spurts he can look good in spurts he can look really bad. A guy that is known for being staunch and what he thinks and what he believes in. We believed in, it gives him more versatility and optionality in terms of who he wants to play if someone's not getting the job done. And so I mean, that part of it too. It's a pretty big team once you get outside of Brunson. We haven't even mentioned Randall who's been one of the best rebounders in the league who has been better shooting it, who's made better decisions generally speaking. It's a team that has some real talent and they could make the second round for sure. And they would give, I think, a very good

"Part today and then I was like, I got it. We gotta talk next. So we're gonna do a little quick next segment here. I watched John schumann does this NBA power poll column that I really like on Mondays. And he had the Knicks ranked 7th on Monday morning. In the league. Wow. And then they went and they spanked myself. And I know that Josh Hart thing, Tim said it after the game. He's like, we have a bunch of ball busters. We have some, you know, like we have a bunch of gamers down. You can kind of feel it. It's a little swagger to this team now. You're starting to get ideas. What's going on with you? Oh my God, I was texting my good friend Aaron Cohen, who I think you know as well. He's a huge Knicks fan after the game last night, and we were like, is fourth place possible? Is this an actual thing? We get home court in the first round. I was just hoping for like a ten seat going into the season, and at one point in December, I think there were ten and 13. Let me tell you something. I'm 40 years old, Bill. So you're two back in the lost column from the cab. So I would say fourth place is possible. I know, but you never know. It's the Knicks. They get us excited and then they break our hearts. I have not bought a Jersey in a very long time. There's a moment last night Monday night where I'm like, do I need a Josh Hart Jersey? Like, is this my guy now? And he's got the three. He's got the stark's number. He plays with tenacity. I love the relationship that he has with Jalen Brunson. He's just a freaking grinder. He fills up a bunch of holes, I still get a little bit annoyed with Julius Randle towards the end of games. I feel like he does a little too much ISO. He does these hero shots, the three pointers kill me, but if we have a healthy Mitch Robinson, if we've got jail in playing as he's playing, if we've got Josh Hart, who should be starting in my opinion and who cares really as long as he finishes. It doesn't matter. Julia's doing his thing. RJ doing his thing. Emmanuel quickly doing his thing. What's interesting again? Do we have a thing? Don't we hate her? Don't be a hater, all right? Does he figure it out a stick yet? He's Ron Harper, all right? He's our Ron Harper. Okay. That's all right. As a Canadian defensive stopper. Perfect, all right? Perfect. They're playing well. And by the way, can I get something from all the tibs haters out there? Year one playoffs, year two you stumble, year three, he flames out. How's he doing now? How's he doing now? You've won 6 straight. I'm with you. I think they could definitely catch the Cavaliers. Worst case scenario, you're not falling below 5. And if you don't care that tournament, but if it's Cavs Knicks, round one, could you imagine? The Mitchell coming back. The calves have some size that's kind of a weird matchup, but I do feel like you have, you have more, I don't know, a little more moxie. Right now. That calves team has had trouble finishing games. Really talented, but have kind of underachieved if you think of like, what their record should be, whereas the Knicks have probably overachieved a tiny bit. Although you blew a lot of crunch time games earlier in the year, now it seems like you fix that. Well, it's a whole different team now. Like I said, we were ten and 13 at one point in December. Tibs shortened the rotation, started to finally play the young guys, giving them an opportunity, which he wasn't doing. The Josh Hart trade really changed, I think people saw that trade and saw what the Knicks did or didn't do at the deadline and thought it was a bit of a disappointment. I love that. They don't watch basketball if they didn't. Josh Hart and Vanderbilt were the two guys sitting there at the trade deadline for like ten contenders. I loved it. I loved it. Given who he is and given his relationship with Jalen Brunson, I mean, it was just an amazing, amazing acquisition. Well, you know, did you see that video in Jalen Brunson found out baggage? Like freaked out. I was like, oh, I forgot these guys. It never registered with me. It was amazing. So yes, I'm very high on them. I will say earlier in the year, I was very down. I was still, look, there's a part of me that is still wondering, man, if we had jaylen Brunson and all these dudes and Donovan Mitchell, where would we be, right? Because I don't think anyone really thought this worked out better, because now here's the other thing. You're an embiid pole position. If that Philly thing goes nuts, this spring, which is like the big secret thing that everybody has been talking about kind of it's like the underground story right now is what's going on with heart and why is everybody in the league sitting to think he's going to end up in Houston this summer. And if he does end up in Houston this summer, this is all that hearsay rumor mill, like gossip stuff, but a lot of times when there's this much smoke, I get suspicious. The best example ever was LeBron going to the Lakers a year before he went to the Lakers. I even talked about in my podcast. I was like, this is done. He's going to the Lakers. People thought I was crazy. There was a ton of smoke. And there's a ton of smoke with this card in Houston stuff. And the Knicks are on pole position for embiid if that happens. Now, whether you'd want him, whether you'd want to pay 7 first rounders and RJ Barrett and obi toppin and whatever else you'd have to give up. I don't know. For a guy who knows with the Knicks injury legacy with big guys, on the other hand, I like that you kept all your assets and you have some flexibility versus like, I don't know, it's Mitchell winning in the title, probably not. Does Brunson flourish like this? Without Mitchell, probably not. First of all, Brunson's got a chip on his shoulder right now. The size of New York State because he should have been in the All-Star Game, who cares he didn't need to be there as a sham of a game anyway. Can I play a rational Knicks fan for you for just one second? I don't want Joel embiid. I've got Mitchell Robinson, all right? That's our guy. All right. I don't need Joel embiid. I've got our guide to be in the trade. Mitchell Robinson. I know. I love Mitchell Robinson. I just wish he could stay healthy. Held the Celtics last night. I mean, he was the best big man in the game. He's great. He's great. I'm not afraid of the Celtics, bring on the Celtics. I am not afraid of anyone in the east. I'm afraid of the Knicks. Yes. This is twice in a row where they've kind of handed it to the Celtics and each time it's like, oh, we were off or this happened or that happened. And I'm at the point where I'm like, I would just like to see us now beat this team once? Yeah. I'm officially like, they're on my radar a little bit now. By the way, is it possible that we're better on the road than we are at home? I don't know. It's a crazy thought. You're starting to get the home crowds. The Knicks crowd. The crowds are starting to show up in a real way again. And that's been, we've talked about this before another times you came on. The big loss of not having a competent Knicks franchise for literally two decades other than one or two seasons. It's just losing the crowd. A 100%. Four great crowds left. The Knicks have one of them. There's like a Brunson thing going on with the crowd now that's pretty special.

Randall had 19 points while New York built a 73 52 halftime lead. RJ Barrett scored 25 points and had a season high 7 assists. Jalen Brunson added 20 points and Josh Hart chipped in 15. Brandon Ingram had a team high 19 points for the pelicans who have dropped three in a row to fall a game under 500. I'm Dave ferry.

Brunson scores 38 as Knicks outlast Jazz in Hart's NY debut

"Jalen Brunson hit for 38 points, 22 in the first half of the Knicks win over the jazz, one 26 one 20, Julius Randle had 31 points for New York, which is 31 and 27 after winning for the third time in four games. RJ Barrett finished with 20 points before fouling out and Josh Hart added 11 off the bench in his next debut. Felt ready to get out there if I'm good to get our get that win. Hard also had 7 rebounds of four assists. He hit a corner three that broke a tie with 6 44 remaining. Laurie marketing scored 29 points in Utah's fourth loss in 5 games. Jordan Clarkson finished with 24 points. I'm Dave ferry.

"Keep it. And in that case, they go four seconds to Portland. And so that one, that's a picture is going to be some suspense over. Whether it conveys or not. What do you think of harts fit with the Knicks? Well, the second consecutive year of the blazers have had some suspense over a pic like this. If you go back to New Orleans one last year. Yeah, I like the structure of a deal like this because it's actually kind of the opposite of the McCallum trade. The more he helped the pelicans, the worse the return was for the blazers. Here, if Josh Hart helps the Knicks get to the playoffs, the blazers get a first round pick. If not, they get the seconds. That kind of makes sense is more of almost like a baseball or an NFL style conditional draft pick that isn't technically allowed in the NBA. I mean, you know, the odds are if they do get that first round pick, which I think they probably will, the next are comfortable. The Knicks are projected pretty favorably, right? To be in the playoffs, whether it's top 6 or through the play in. Yeah, BPI had them up to 94% after this trade that was before all the other stuff went down. I don't know if that's changed a little bit since then, but and if they do get it, you know, it's probably going to be in the teens. We're not talking about, you know, pick 28 is a realistic possibility. So I think that's why, you know, the value made sense for Portland's standpoint. From New York, I initially did not like it at all because it seems like they're pretty well set on the wing with Grimes Barrett and Emmanuel quickly. And one of my strongest ticks is that manual quickly is just a really good basketball player. Good things always seem to happen when he's on the court. And this year you can't use the argument that will of course they do. The next reserves are all really good and they're starting lineup is relatively much weaker. So all their starters look good in terms of net plus minus. This year, it's really just quickly. When he's on the court. Yeah, he's been, he's been awesome. I mean, awesome, a defensive demon getting around screens, getting deflections, he moves without the ball and offense. That was my concern on heart to the next. I love Josh Hart. I think he's a really good player. The Knicks have a pretty tight 9 man rotation. My guess is he would just take deuce McBride's minutes as the 9th man, he does give you a little bit more positional flexibility if you want to play more wings at the same time. The Knicks are pretty orthodox rotational team under Tom thibodeau so I'm not sure how much they'll do that. I guess he gives you some, you know, he's got that funky contract next year that's a player option, but then becomes non guaranteed if he picks it up. So who knows if he would be on the team if he is? Because he gives you some insurance with like the obi toppin Emmanuel quickly extension talk so he doesn't play the same position as those guys. I'm just so little curious about the fit because to give up a first, even if it ends up being 1819 20 or four seconds, I want a little bit more clarity on the fit and because he's just become so three point phobic, although in the last week or two, someone's clearly told them dude, you gotta shoot. The Knicks are not a really good three point shooting team already, you know, they play Barrett Randall in a traditional center together a lot and I don't know how heart really hard they can't afford another non shooter really plopping into those groups. So I'm a little, I'm a big Josh Hart fan, but I'm a little, I don't, I don't know, we'll see. What he is is a basketball player, so like basketball players tend to find ways to make things work. He's high accused, good screener. He looks like draymond lately with like dribble handoffs and stuff because nobody's guarding him. So he'll probably find a way to make it work. I am curious though about the fit. Yeah, I think we're in a similar position about this one. I really didn't like it at first and then kind of talked myself into it a little more because if you can carve a few minutes out from that spot, the other aspect of it is New York's defensive rebounding has been a weakness last this season after being a strength last season. Heart's going to help there and it particularly has come when Quentin Grimes has been on the bench, which is presumably when you're going to be playing hard. Heart is maybe the best rebounding guard in the whole league and the epitome of if you want the ball, go get the ball because when he gets rebounds, sometimes he doesn't pass. He'll go close to coast ahead of everyone else in the game and just be like, all right, I'm taking it all the way. This is my shot attempts. Another little trade that I haven't talked about yet. Philly, this one snuck under the radar, I kind of like the jail and McDaniels move for them snagging him from Charlotte for seconds, I think, in a three team trade. Not a big name. He's jaded mcdaniel's brother, Jaden is the bigger name in Minnesota. Only shooting 32% from three is

"Of the moves being made based on the opportunity of all those teams being so clumped up in the standings. Yeah. Any thoughts on this or set up for mobile? I like the heart deal than the Knicks, but man. I know guys are like, you're going to bring up RJ Barrett again. If you're already losing some of those closing minutes to quickly, because the dividend is defensive rotation preference. And Grimes, which I think he's actually subbed out for in Grimes. The last time I was tracking it, and then miles McBride who comes in and just wreaks havoc. So I actually, like when those guys come in, I'm not mad about any of it. But when you add heart to it, I had one deal first went through, and he's got a player option for 13 million in the rumor was that Portland was going okay. We paid simons. We pay in Lillard. We've got the grant part of this. They save some money on the decision with heart, which looked like they were going to be able to resign him. They saved some money on the part of this. But then they bring in thigh, because they're not like, you know what? This is perfect. Our other guys can't guard anybody and all they do is shoot. You can come here and not have to shoot and now just play defense. So now I'm talking about a bunch of these kind of marginal moves. I like heart to the Knicks. It's always liked him as a player. I know you and I both really liked him, but I'm like, man, I wonder what that means for RJ and how this closing group works because now he's just given tips another defensive. Oh, God. Yeah. Rob, do you have a dog? Yeah. Of course. Do you belong to the bark box club where you get a box of poise every month? We have this bark box club in the toys come and we pull the toys out and you give one and it's like the greatest day ever. That's what I feel like tibs getting Josh Hart, where it's like, oh, he tries really hard and he crashes on the defensive boards. Oh my God. And I'm gonna play him all 48 minutes. Also a little undersized, which is perfect. Josh Hart feels like Tom thibodeau fan fiction. He feels like he has created this player for himself and imported him. And yeah, I think he's going to displace RJ Barrett sometimes. I think he's going to get a lot of minutes because that's what Josh Hart does. Yeah, brucella, when would you bet on the RJ Barrett? Some sort of weird LeBron esque kind of emoji, just that we're supposed to interpret. I would say, give it 7 days. He'll have something. Question mark, or just like a shot of somebody sitting sadly on a park bench. Just be something. He'll keep us thinking better. I'm just trying to think of like the perfect one like the Pink Floyd album cover wish you were here and it's RG Barrett shaking hands

"They are a Tesla under the luxury tax. They're like 65 grand. I have no idea what a Tesla costs. I just thought that was an expensive car. There are Tesla under the luxury tax. And when you're a Tesla under the luxury tax, you do not want to buy a Tesla that takes you over the luxury tax. It's just not worth it. It's not that nice of a car to incur the penalty and not get the windfall you get for being under the tax. I don't know. But they also don't have a ton of expendable salary. They're not trading sharp, Payton just signed. Josh Hart's got a really team friendly contract. He does a big big part of their team. Grant Simon's Lillard are keepers. Nasir little is on a contract that he's been injured most of the year. He'll come back at some point. He's on a four year $28 million extension. If he just plays, he's going to play himself into being a much more powerful trade asset than he is now if they ever want to trade him. I don't see, I don't know. They'll search around, but they're pretty solid team. They could use a backup center. They could use another wing, they could use lots of things, but I don't know. You see anything for them? It's hard, you know? I mean, as you said that they're tax situation, they're draft pick. I mean, the other night, they've got some injuries in the Minnesota loss, their bench was Shane sharp, jabari walker kian Johnson, Julie Eubanks, right? Like that was that's kind of who they are. I think they're 5 and one in games that Lillard scores more than 36. So that's certainly something to keep an eye on. I mean, the heart and he's been good for him. The heart situation is interesting because he's got a funky contract where basically he's got a he's got a team, he's got a player option for next year and if he opts in, then the contract becomes non guaranteed. So like, are you concerned he's going to become a free agent? What the cost is going to be? I don't think you have to move off on him. You could probably just let that situation play the play out here, but I mean, besides him, it's really like, you know, the winslows, the, as I mentioned, those are your, that's your, I mean, he's been out, that's your $4 million guy. And you're not going into the tax. So you're kind of who you are right now. They could just use a minute sopper, even if Kuzma is better than a minute stop or bodon which is those guys, even if they just filled minutes that are currently going to the guys you just mentioned, even Winslow, like I'm not really sure I trust the justice Winslow thing if you get healthy. But again, the salary makes it hard. Josh Hart, the one thing I love Josh Hart regular ten things like guy, one of the best rebounding guards in the recent history of the NBA. He's weirdly just stopped shooting threes. I don't know if you noticed that he's taking 1.9 threes per game. And he's passing up too many open looks to drive into nothingness. Now he can make plays out of that sometimes, but they need him to shoot threes. He's an average three point shooter. That's fine. He's got to shoot him. And they just need dame to stay healthy. And I think they're, I don't know if they're going to crack the top 6. But I think their floor is pretty steady as long as name stays healthy. Yeah, I mean, just because I had to put a trade in for everyone from my Cleveland section I put Josh Hart, you know? Josh Hart for jetty Osman and Lamar Stevens. Like, you know, they're looking for two bodies for one for two bodies for one. I don't know what it does for Portland. It gives them another bench guy and some shooting here, but I just, you know, I think, as you said, I think they're in a, although they're tuned 5 in the last 7, compared to where they were last year. It's hard. It's hard kind of going from the bottom in the lottery here to be back in the top 6 where they are right now. What's the most they can give grant tomorrow? One 13 for foreign, right? Yep. I wonder if he even signs that what can you do if he waits to be if he does he have a player option for next year? What is he? Just straight free agent bird rights. So if I'm him, do I just wait it out and he's having an absolutely outstanding season. All star worthy, right? I think you could probably talk about him as a potential reason, there's gonna be a lot of guys as a reserve. 49%, 45% from three, solid defense. Like if I'm him, do I just say, I know that that was sort of assumed by everyone in the world when you guys made this straight for you, but I think I'll just wait it out and see if I get the max. Yeah, I mean, the market, the market, this off season is better than it was last year when there was four teams. I think we're looking at 9 that maybe can go to 12 or 13. A lot of those are the rebuilds. The Orlando's of the world's Houston, that whole group, Indiana. Maybe not Indiana. We don't put them in there. Detroit is former team. I don't think that's going to happen. But there is a more of a marketplace for. Players like him this off season than it was probably this past July. I'm glad we talked about these four teams. These are four really interesting teams in the thick of the play in slash playoff race. You could put them anywhere, I mean, if you just look at the west now barring injury and someone's always injured, particularly in New Orleans, everyone's always injured. Denver Memphis, New Orleans, has kind of solidified itself as a top three. There's a three game gap then between Dallas and Sacramento at four and 5, but the difference between four and 9 is very, very thin. Like those teams, the teams we've talked about other than Utah, maybe Utah too could go anywhere in there. So it's an interesting group of teams, Bobby marks, when does this come out? 16th, my poor editors, I'm already up to 11,000 words. And I am on the ems today. Miami is today. "To do with the tax doesn't really factor in. But yeah, let's see. I mean, if nothing else, now we've got a little bit of intrigue around the raptors that maybe we didn't have a couple of weeks ago or another name potentially out there on the market and OJ and obi. You mentioned this contract earlier, Josh Hart, this is an interesting one. And what are we thinking on Josh Hart? Will that contract be? So Jake Fisher's reporting in this whole big piece that he did, which is where a lot of our news is coming out of it says they're likely to guarantee that deal. That's probably not all that big of a surprise. What that does lean me more towards believe in they're going to stay over the cap then. Which makes sense because of the presence of the McCollum, trade exception that allows you to do a lot of the same things you would have done otherwise. Then it gets really interesting though because they're last year, the 23 24 season. Also 12.96 million, that's as close to what I like to call the Major League Baseball mutual player option. Where it's a player option or mutual option, I should say, it's a player option, but it's also fully non guaranteed. So even if the opts in, it's fully non guaranteed. So it does become one of those kind of interesting fun things of you can opt in, but we're still going to wave you and get out of it for nothing. We rarely rarely see those kind of deals come to fruition like that. In the NBA. But it is kind of interesting. That's why I mentioned it when I was talking about Zion, maybe give him the player option, but with the non guaranteed year on the end, and everybody's still kind of gets what they want both ways. Could you see a scenario where they pick up the option here on Josh Hart? They guarantee that money and then ship them out in a tree. Yeah, maybe. I mean, you could go that way too. They could non guarantee or could guarantee that fully and then use that as part of the trade. But they like him there. Which I think, yeah, I think him, Simon's in Lillard, you have your three guard rotation to move forward with..

"Because up until this point, for the most part, what's been best for LeBron has been what's been best for the Lakers. Those two things have been in lockstep. Those two things have been tied together. And so it's been great. So it's been great. Look, hey, we had to sacrifice Brandon Ingram. Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, all these future picks. In order to get LeBron a team that can win a championship, but you know what? They want a championship. Okay, great. They won a championship. Mission accomplished. Right? What was best for LeBron was also best for the Lakers. Now we saw this past off season where LeBron said I want rust. The Lakers had a deal lined up to get buddy healed. The last minute they said, well, we're going to do what LeBron wants. We're going to get Russell Westbrook. Now LeBron wasn't trying to do anything to negatively impact the organization. He obviously felt like that was going to work. And it didn't. Then it didn't. Not everybody's right all the time. Can forgive him for that if he was the one pushing for it. And again, ultimately, the front office, they're the ones that have to take responsibility because they're the ones that make the final decision. Regardless of what LeBron says. But now, now we're heading into an off season. You've got one year left of LeBron James on your roster. You've got Russell Westbrook who I think most would assume will not be back next year. The Lakers are going to do everything they can to move him, but what about the cost? What if the cost involves moving a 2027 draft pick and the 2029 draft pick could be in play as well? What if you're doing that and you don't feel like those are things that are going to help you necessarily win a championship..

"We gotta need as much time as my brain can get to wrap my head around the king's trading Halliburton. Let's go to the pacer side of the, you know, we've been looking at this as okay, miles Turner or dolma tassa bonus? One of those two is going to go out there recently we've heard, okay, maybe both, but I was still shocked and again, you could see in our previous video, I was still shocked that the guy the first guy to go is sabotage that Turner is the guy still standing right now in pawnee. This is this is incredibly surprising to me. I understand the pacers wanting to move forward, but I thought he was the guy they were going to probably wind up keeping. Yeah, I thought so, too, because I thought he would be kind of day didn't give an indication that they were really looking to start over that they wanted to reset and I thought sabonis was the kind of the perfect guy to reset around. You get the right guys around him and go. No, there's still not necessarily saying that they're fully blowing this thing up and starting over because you still have Malcolm Brogdon as a reminder, Malcolm Brogdon can not be traded at this deadline because he is the ineligible because of physics extension. He can be traded this summer. But you've got brogden. You've got Halliburton now. You've got buddy healed. You've got Chris duarte. And we'll talk about that mix in a little bit here. But then he's still got miles Turner. TJ Warren, if he can get back, you're still in a spot if you're the pacers where what you've given yourself now is all kinds of flexibility. Not that says you can't still trade Turner. I think they'll do something eventually of that brogden healed pairing my guess is one of those two will go because it's just you can't really build a functional group with Halliburton brogden healed into Marte. Three of them, fine, four of them, just not enough minutes. For those guys, you know, and then we'll see yo, ultimately, where it goes from there. So I think it'll be in a position with this. You know, trade, now you can either say, all right, let's kind of run it back with what we've built here, maybe a couple other smaller moves, or let's really yell lean into this. And Halliburton duarte picks in a bunch of flexibility. That's what we're building around. Could we see, say, buddy healed? Flipped here before the trade deadline. And I think that that may be something that's out there because like you mentioned, it's a bit of a log jam now at the guard position, but if the pacers are looking at this as, okay, we're going to take in healed salaries part of this deal, but we know we've got deal ABC that we can send them out for, this may make more sense. So to me, this is, this is not the end for the pacers. This is, maybe it's not in the beginning because we already saw the carousel of virtue, but this is a step in the process. And I think they've got more moves coming even by Thursday. We're going.

"And when we went on the air, we didn't know there was a pick swap in 2017, which turned out to be Jason Tatum, by the way. We didn't know the picks were unprotected. But we just had to react. And we didn't know all the details of the trade. And by the time I did a podcast the next day, or tweeting or whatever, once we actually knew the trade, I was like, wow, they got a shit load for that trade. We didn't know at the time. When I was tweeting about this as it was happening, the nands part wasn't in, because I'm thinking, why would I like Josh hart? I think he's, I actually think he's a winning player. He's not as good as McCollum, obviously, but if I could pay Josh hart 12 million or McCollum 30 33 next year and I'm also throwing in first round picks to get McCollum. That doesn't seem like a smart trade to me. Where am I going if I'm New Orleans? They got Nancy. So Nance between Nance and herb Jones, you have two guys who are winning player guys who are role player glue guy. Herb Jones rookie great if you haven't watched the pelicans on league pass. He's been one of the Ricky revelations this year. So that New Orleans, they have Zion they've been growing. Jonas valentines has been good for them this year. McCollum. Herb Jones and Nance as the glue guys, devonte Graham is scoring off the bench. Jackson Hayes, I guess as a room runner, I don't love him. And then just a ton of picks from the walk he traded in the Lakers trade. And the Lakers picks are probably more valuable than walking picks. All of this hinges on Zion, who we have not seen. I actually Googled Zion stuff today. Try to figure out, is it coming back? Where is he? There's no pictures of Zion. Honestly, it's like trying to find pictures of Bigfoot from the 1970s. There's no Zion pictures. Has he been out in public? What happened to that guy? I guess New Orleans is thinking there is sneaky playing team. If Zion comes back, and even if he doesn't come back, CJ, we know it can be the main creator and a good team. And he's actually been, it's so hard to be underrated anymore because all we do is talk best about 24/7, but CJ offensively, you just look at his last 7 years. He's 22 a game. 46 40 83 splits. Like, the guy's just a good score who knows what to do with dating games. They didn't have anyone like that New Orleans. So now you have to worry about him in Ingram at the same time. You got Valentine's who can do all kinds of stuff, especially if he has a mixed match, mismatch. And then you have Zion as the wild card. So I like this trade for New Orleans. I think you had an dance back was key. If they're not getting dance back in that, I don't understand the point of the trade. They're just basically McCollum is in that range where you love them as a player if he's making like 15 million a year, but once he's making 30, it's like yikes. So I don't mind the trade. David Griffin, it looked like he was down for the count. It looked like he had been knocked out, knocked down, I don't know, 7 8 times in the boxing fight. But now rallying back, I like this trade. I hated giving up Lonzo. I still don't understand why they did that. But at least this trade signs a life from the pelicans. We'll see what happens with Zion. And then for Portland, the dame CJ run is dead and it wasn't really a run. They made one west vinyls once they got killed to be too round twos and CJ was in 750,000 trade rumors. So we'll talk more about this. We did a big trade deadline pod on Thursday and we'll break all this stuff down in more detail. But coming up cousin.

"I don't really care. Yeah, this is a little weird, not entirely uncommon for players to rehab away from the team. We do see that on a somewhat regular basis, especially if they require something that may be the team doesn't have. Gordon Hayward did that for a portion of his rehab after he broke his leg a few seasons back. So that that part is not super high raising to me. It's weird though focus like was he not focused with rehabbing in New Orleans? What's going on there? We had seen those pictures where he looked really big. Then we saw some pictures where he looked pretty good. After and then shortly thereafter that it was shut down again. The part that most is concerning to me is the non weight bearing stuff because we're now this is the beginning of January. This we found out about this and it was August, right? Because it was we found out about it after, right? We found a really late yeah, that's right. We found out about a media day in late September, but the surgery happened sometime in July, if I remember correctly when he broke the foot. So yeah, that part is concerning to me that we're still here and it doesn't sound like it's getting close and I'm starting to worry, maybe we don't see him at all this season. Yeah, I mean, the partial weight bearing thing, and when the season started, I remember we were talking about, okay, maybe it'll be a few weeks of no Zion for the pelicans. Can they just hang on for a few weeks? And now here we are. It's 2022. Yeah. And there's the season, essentially. There's no return in sight. For Zion Williamson, and look, a big dude, right? Just a big in general, whether it's Zion or not, you worry about foot injuries. First guy I always think of course is you deal with guys. Like, they drew their silks. Dealing with foot injuries. And it's not a wall. Absolutely. Now Burke Lopez clearly made it out on the other side. Came out of a healthy. But yeah, yeah, it definitely worried some. So you've got all of those things stacking up. The pelicans, it appears to pretty much be a lost season. I mean, you're not going to pull the plug or anything just yet, but it's looking that way. So you have to wonder if it's another month before he's in bearing activities at what point do you just get so far into the season that you just say, you know what? Let's worry about next year. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, now what's weird is there are two and a half games out of the play in because the bottom of the west play in this week is pretty pretty weak. But you got to start to really think about how hard are we really going to push for that. If you're the Portland trailblazers and you're trying to really make a run and think you could win it and get in, sure if you're the pelicans and you are like Zion is weeks away then absolutely you push for that and try to get into the play and maybe when you're way into the playoffs. But it is really tough now as you kind of look at this to say, I don't know. I think you've got to be getting really close to saying, hey, maybe the best thing here is we reprioritize the rest of the season. We turn it into a development season. We trade away what veterans we can build some additional assets. You still keep Valentina and Ingram and all Josh hart's a little tricky because he's got that weird contract, but Devante Graham keeps eye on..

"I think I had an honorable mention was the Avery Bradley Balkan, I believe Kelvin Johnson. I think in the first quarter, came over the weak side, rotated over Matt Johnson at the rim stuffed him completely. So now again, the inverse is also true. When you see big guys doing guard stuff, when you see going through big guy stuff, that's all Josh hart. Defending bigs in the post. Josh hart is an immovable guy. You know, this is a deep, deep cut, but David west talked about how he knew he needed to retire with Josh hart on the retired David west. That was epic. He was the catalyst. Yo from YouTube said Sekou is literally in our system and right under our noses, LOL, NBA experience in young legs. Don't think Vogel would do that, though. So secret Dubois, yes, in theory, 6 8. He fits the physical profile of what you'd be looking for on the wing, but if the Lakers aren't using him, it's for a reason. There's something going on that she's not quite clicking yet with him. I think there will be opportunities for him. And if he can play, he'll get in there because the Lakers do need a player his size that can do things, but something's just not quite there at this point for the Lakers not to turn to him right now. I think it's important for fans to realize that guys are available for reasons. Second boya obviously has draft capital. He was a first round pick, spent some time in Detroit and has shown flashes. But you know, once you get traded to a team, and then you get cut, and then you're picked up on a two way contract. You know, this is kind of the leagues way of saying that we think you have talent and we think there's some upside there, but you're not quite ready to play games just yet. If the if this was the Lakers of old, where they're not a championship contender or at least not trying to play for a championship and they're rebuilding team, then you obviously will see more psycho debuted type of minutes. But given where the team's at right now, I don't think you're going to see them unless they're getting blown out or they're blowing out teams. That's just kind of the reality of the season. So I don't expect to see a much garbage time minutes at this point. Exactly. Somebody said, let me see. There was a comment here. Oh, somebody asked for an update on Trevor ariza and another update on Kendrick nunn. So let's finish up with that. So ariza was ruled out for about 8 weeks. The Lakers it was released that he would be reevaluated in about 8 weeks. And that was roughly 5 and a half weeks ago..

"I mean, the only curious thing here is they took a lot of flack for giving Stephen Adams, the contract they did, and then they kind of turned around and gave Valentine's Steven Adams level money, give or take a couple of million. But still, I think it's a solid deal for a big man that admittedly, I'm a fan of. I really enjoy his game just being that kind of throwback brute force center. Yeah, next year he'll be on the books for 14.7 ish million. It looks like. Which is that's actually believe it or not, that is over 3.2 million under what Adams makes next year. So that's actually that's a meaningful amount of money. Just kind of another fun little note. They have exactly one free agent now planned for next year and that's Tomas on a run ski. Everybody else is signed in under contract. And then they have Josh hart on that very unique structured deal where it's got non guarantees and a non guarantee with a player option, which is very rare and it's final year. But yeah, I think this is perfectly fine for the pelicans. Valentinus is 29 now. I think he's a guy who should age well because he's never been relying on his athleticism. He's always been a pretty ground bound guy. But I think with the way he is out of range to his game in that, that's really going to help. I think he's somebody we don't do a ton of this, but if you're a fantasy basketball player, go get them on Zions out, 'cause I think he's gonna eat inside. I think he's gonna get the ball and do a lot of stuff. Do you have that moment for this team? There you go. And I've never said that, so I can't even take credit for that. That's right. But yeah, but yeah, I think this is a good deal for the pelicans..

"Here. So, by the way, I want to address the the Russell Westbrook thing. Oh, basket sexual from YouTube said, who the Super Chat? Thank you said, who do you think the Lakers should draft off? I still liked Ray Murphy the third a lot. I still like bones Highland. The impulsive side of me, says, take bones Island, right? Just because he's going to be so much fun. I love watching. This guy played basketball. The analytics side of me, says, Trey Murphy. The third, his skill-set is what the Lakers need three and D player good-sized can contest. I like him a lot. Either one of those guys would be great but you know what, there's a lot of guys who would be great. Chris Duarte right cam Thomas you can talk me into. There's a lot of guys that could be great. Jaden Springer like there's a lot out there. Okay. So yeah, it was Ben gruba. If he makes it my goodness defensively, he could be incredible. This, this guy could be a first-team all-nba Defender, right? Like there's a lot of guys that would make a lot of sense. For the Lakers 22 if they keep their pick. So I'm not going to I'm going to try not to lock in on any particular player. I do think it's interesting that there were rumors about the Lakers trading back and to me that just speaks to the depth of the draft that they feel like they're going to get somebody pretty good even if they trade back and they're going to use that in order to pick up, maybe another draft pick and have another young guy cost control and use those guys to help fill out the roster would be interesting to see do we see like a Josh Hart asked move remember the Lakers jump back two spots in the draft I believe his 2017. Drafted Josh Hart picked up an extra second-rounder for their trouble. Use that second round around Thomas Bryant the Lakers know how to draft this team. Just does their their scouting department. They do a great job. Their hits are way more often than their mrs. So if she was able to pick up an extra pick by trading back, I'm going to look at it as a win because they're going to be able to snag to solid players that I think can contribute if their track record is any.

"So I don't want to look at that draft pick and say it's nothing or undervalue it in anyway because the Lakers have proven that they're pretty cool. At finding guys at that area of the draft, it's always pop. Maybe he winds up whoever they get their wines up. Being a mo Wagner. We're just doesn't quite click but you look at everybody else. They've got out. Who's my name is Jordan Clarkson? Talen, Horton Tucker Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant right? Like they found a number of guys at that point in the draft that have really helped teams. And so I am not home. I'm going to value that pick, I'm not going to look at that pic as nothing is just something to throw in as a sweetener to get a deal done. I'm going to value that pic. If I can find a way to make a move without trading that pick, I'm going to do it so I can see on a cost control contract. All right, that's my basic plan. There gave your Velasquez. Oh, I'm sorry. I missed that. Just flew past me, and it flew off my screen. I'll go back and see if I can find it Renea. Vanderbilt and said why can't NBA players restructure contracts? It's because it is not like the NFL the NBA players union is very, very strong unlike the NFL's. And so what that means is that these guys their their Union would not allow that to be put into into their agreements. There's no way because then teams would start putting pressure on players and as soon as one player did it, all right, let's say LeBron restructure his contract, you know, other teams around the NBA will be going to their stars and they would be saying, hey this guy just restructure his contract, why don't you if LeBron did it to free up some space to help us out? Why won't you do that? The NBA. They don't want that the Players Association, they certainly do not want that. So that's that's the reason why you don't see that happening, okay? And again, obviously it's something that happens in the NFL quite a bit. John Solace with a super chat from YouTube. Thank you. Hi Trevor. "I think unlike any individual this manchester city side. Yes guardiola team. And it's and it's the full way that all eleven players interact with each other and the movements and the ability to keep the ball. It's beautiful when it comes off. But when it doesn't a star individual moment and kevin brown. I'd say more than any manchester city player by a decent amount is capable of summoning it and so how chelsea handle kevin de bruyne. You mentioned georgina ability to get in his way in that. Fa cup semifinal. That'll be really huge again. Because kevin dubrow can change this game and he was sensational in the last primarily game against everton although that was just a a runaway five nil. That probably didn't matter much for either team but he's the player and so how do chelsea handle that. We'll get into our formal predictions in the final segment of the show. But let's talk to a couple true blues. I'm bringing out the top lucky charm guns that i've got a my sleeve here for this finals preview episode. We're going to the nba. It's nba playoff time. I kind of know the deal. Same spiderman. I appreciate it. I don't like that we continually change rights fees holders. That way i got to see uncle. Ben die over and over again ben dying so i think you know how chelsea got here. How did they get here. They won their champions league games. That that's they got here. They advanced beyond reality drid in the semifinal which was a massive achievement for this club if you really pulled me before the season and any emotional chelsea fan getting out of the round of sixteen might have been the height of a lot of people's expectations chelsea find themselves here as a fourth-place finisher premier league it was. We were sweating it out to the very last second in the final match. We got the season even qualify for next year's competition. So you know your boy. Mike ryan does not take this final four granted the fact that chelsea find themselves here in this game against the class of the english premier league manchester city. It's an unbelievable achievement in itself. Well when you talk about clubs pride in themselves on winning trophies for me the trophies to win every year are the primarily in the champions league s the fa cup and the cup have important role to play in the history of english football. But in my view when you're talking about the very biggest clubs and what they set out to do every year..

Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball, Pelicans Hold off Donovan Mitchell, Jazz for Win

"We are back on. Get up and jay. Williams made his way to take a look at the game of the night last night. A good one between the jazz. And the pelicans and this one was all about ziad. Look at him. Going right equity go back just constantly challenging rudy gobert. He gets his shot blocked more than any other player in the league. But it doesn't matter because it's going to finish at the rim. He had fifteen points in the third quarter. Zion did look at them continuing here and just taking a straw once again. He loves eternal right shoulder. That's his patented move. Twenty-six ten last night for zion who was really emerging clear in his second season. Well let's take you to where this game is decided thirty seconds ago jazz are down by one. And here's the big sequence. J. will often miss from donovan mitchell. Donovan mitchell mrs baruch. I don't know if i call that over to bat call rudy gobert. That just much taller. But since i did it take another look at it here. That's go bear. He does get called for over the bag. Zion would make too so the pelicans of a three point lead in. Here's the final shot. Not a great look that the utah jazz get off. Zion gets the rebound josh. Hart gets uncontested dunk. And that is all she wrote. The pelicans get the win. One twenty nine one twenty four and again as i on finishing with twenty six points. Ten boards five assists. Joining anthony davis as the only players in new orleans history with game with those numbers before turning twenty one years old. They will play again tomorrow night

What's going on with the New Orleans Pelicans?

"This year's deputy f team the new orleans pelicans. I don't know what baker this team you can catch them on any given night and it's a completely different experience than the last night. I don't know if the players make sense together. Actually i'm pretty sure they don't. I don't really know what the overall philosophy is. I don't know if they're trying to be a playoff team if they're trying to be rebuilding. I'm just constantly confused and there are some optimism because they want a couple of games around people here they go here. Zion and then they get killed last night by the bulls and have one hundred thousand breakdowns. And i guess my first question to you is the pelicans what the fuck you. How many exclamation points can we tack onto that. Wt fd think. But i was hoping you could answer this question. Because i think you're spot on in that it's so much depends your view of this team on when you catch them even just like what stage in the season. You caught them because for a minute. It looked like they were going to live up to their personnel and be a tough minded offensive team. Scrounging out offensive rebounds to get points and just kinda struggling on that in because they're spacing issues the script has completely flipped. And now this is all of a sudden very competent offense. I think park has really driven by brandon. Ingram is i ion williamson. They're making that part of it work but the defense. Jesus christ i mean it is. There is inconsistent defensively as really any team out there. Yeah i would say other than brooklyn. It's the team that's most likely to give up one hundred forty on any given night to any team. That knows what they're doing. I so if you actually look at their stats and you haven't been watching that much and you look at the stats and you look at williamson in ingram and all right. Those guys are having good years pretty efficient. And then you look at lonzo and you look at bledsoe. Lonzo shoot thirty seven percent from three so she and forty percent so going into the season like well. Their guards can't shoot. They're not going to be able to have enough space. Well their guards are actually shooting. Okay but then. When i watch everybody together. I don't have a five-man line-up that i liked like yesterday. They're playing Kyra lewis with He he got a little more run and he's really interesting. Rookies really fast. He's little darren foxy and gave them an energy that i was like. Well maybe this. Maybe i would like this version of the pelicans more. If fast you know now unleash sign a little bed. Go up and down a little bit more. But i still don't know who the other two teammates would be with cairo. Lewis design and branding. And i guess the fundamental question for me is do zion and brandon. Ingram makes sense together on a team. That's actually trying to win the title. I think they make sense on offense but the question was i on really broadly. As who are you going to put the five that's gonna make up for all. He doesn't do defensively right now. That's always been my issue with the idea of playing small and we are putting him at the five his rotations is. Aren't there really the pelicans as a team. If i were an opposing coach. I would say this is a team. We can beat him rotation every they are. Pass away from defensive breakdown every time out on the floor and keep moving the ball. You keep doing what you're supposed to do they will they will mess up in a whether it's undersized guy in the corner doesn't quite rotate over all the way. Jj radic or josh. Hart they try hard. They do what they can. But they're not equipped to be helped rotation defenders. If a guy like zion isn't going to be one so i mean i'm i'm kinda bullish on the anger rooms ion depot in general but i am really struggling to see how you put together those lineups. I can see how they kind of got into this conundrum where they clearly wanted to have some veterans early. Some veterans fell into their lap in terms of what was available and trying to get some pics and make their other moves but long term. It's a weird team to build with. And then you get lonzo into this conversation to and what they want to do with him. It's it's kind of messy.

We ended up working with other guys and put on the first ever all. Nba forty nine stream was called ballers only and I think it was actually one of the highest ever debut twitch streams of course has since been beaten but just little things like that we started to get our footing in the space and existing clients who were not in gaming started to come rest and say hey how can we enter the space. We see you guys doing a lot of work gaming. How can we do this. And so we realize like. Hey there's a really cool white space here for for an agency that can can walk these worlds. You know play between these worlds really really well And so we quietly for the last. I guess three years or so have been doing gaming work under the cut and sew name and it wasn't until recently that we spurred us ourselves ourselves down and we're like we can't be an industry agnostic agency and reach our full potential in the space because the gaming industry is too protective. It's too wary. It's to sort of aware of others that are looking to come in and exploit it which you know we'd like to think we're not doing And so we built zone gaming which sits undercutting so and it's It's exclusively dedicated into the gaming space. So it's you know working with brands. Both endemic and non endemic Doing everything from social and digital influencers to content to live event production to brand strategy brand identity Really anything on the marketing side. We feel really really confident in doing And then i'd say an interesting part about our mindset is we're not just using. We're not just a service business. So we're we're actually People are coming to us for building businesses with them. We're taking this. Mark needs the infrastructure. And we're applying to ip that we have ownership in. I have so many questions met many questions Can i start with one. Because you you mentioned all the can do with endemic and non endemic brands. Okay wonder my rallying cries like a a the something that i hit on tires that get ready. Get ready like here's paul shouting at the cloud. So get ready. I teach east sports marketing classes. Saint peter's okay and so by default. I have to teach them about endemic and non endemic brands. Okay let's just part of the curriculum because that is what the industry talks about right. I personally hate this sort of differentiation. Between the two. And i'll tell you why i hate it because it makes it seem like non endemic brands. Don't really belong right. Like like like endemic brands are special and and are part of the the group and on drawn in the sand right. I kinda hate that. Because and i've spent quite a bit of time in the last two years educating brands so sort of the peace before where you come in which is like what do we. Why do we need to know about east sports at all. And why is it interesting for us at all. And then they sort of decide what they wanna do in the but but even like as part of that education process. What i've realized is some of them do feel excluded in this. Non endemic brand. Sort of category. My question to you. Is you really treat those two categories differently when a brand walks in the door. And do you agree that maybe this differentiation is something that should go away. I think we treat them differently. And the reason we treat them differently because in my opinion you know the gaming consumer is a ruthless one right and if you if you come at them in an authentic way in a way that doesn't understand how they speak their language the emotes they use and you don't speak to them in a way that likes to be spoken they'll write you off forever. And so i think that if you're a brand know not to use this word again if you're if you've been traditionally not a democr- you haven't entered the space before. I think it's really important to take a slightly different approach in. Make sure that you almost Pay your respect and and earn your stripes and pay homage to the culture In a way that maybe a brand who's been activating endemically for a really long time like could skip over. And so. That's that's the only reason i think i'd like to differentiate is because there is a bit of just like a laying the groundwork that that you have to do your first time in the space but generally i agree with you. I mean. I think like if someone if brand advertisers in sports than another doesn't you don't call it at a sport brand or non-sport brand new brands so to that and i agree completely but i do think the

"Matt for our for our listeners and our viewers. Could you tell our audience who hasn't heard of you. That'd be surprised but who maybe doesn't know your background how you got into sports. What you're working on today. Some of the things. I talked about maybe Would love to get sort of the man. Hillman story yeah absolutely. I'll spare you too much. But i I launched a full service marketing agency. That was completely outside of these sports. Space called cut and so Coming up on three years ago now so is in january. Two thousand eighteen with two partners. The three of us sort of just felt like we really unique But also diverse skill sets between Done a ton of work in sports and entertainment space. My two partners were rebound florida at a tech startup that became sort of a case. Study for consumer marketing. It was called jack. Blew up on college campuses. They were the minds behind a lot of that. And so the three of us just kind of linked up and realized that we wanted to to build something together and we had all been doing some consulting on the side and realized that an agency model was really really. Good way for us to be able to you. Know it's not like one. Plus one plus one equals. You know nine right. It's not three so We put our heads together and started to build this business. You know it's a service based business Work with companies big and small and help them help them reach a younger More culturally aware demographic that businesses called cut and so again started it almost three years ago and you know where gaming sort of came into the picture is through our work cut and so will one gaming as as ubiquitous at this point right at it is. It is so far transcended. It's it's it's individual industry in seeping into everything that we know and so If you do anything in the world of sports entertainment or music or it's really hard to gaming wasn't always like that but We were doing a lot of work with with athletes Who were really really passionate. Lakers, LeBron James and LeBron discussed on First Take

"What's going on. Everybody welcome. I take Molly came here and we have some major. Exciting news here on I take. I am so happy. So Maxon Stephen may be on vacation, but they are getting ready to take on the Big Apple. I take officially moving to a new studio in New York City. The debut show airs on Labor Day, September, third. So we may be changing the location, but you can still expect the same hot towards debate. And of course, lots of special guests and surprises to welcome the show to New York in speaking of a voice. I miss Steven, you're on the phone. Hey, how's vacation going in your discreet location? Disclose location? Yes. I'm loving loving. Neely, I, you know, I relaxed enough to get ready to beat up on Maxwell another year. And what have you that's a given look comes with the territory, but I mean credibly excited that we're moving to New York City both myself and maximum native New Yorkers. It's been a long time coming. It's something that pleaded in baseball for years, and finally it's happening. So I'm incredibly excited. Yes, I am Stephen, I cannot wait. And I think one of the major things I'm excited about is obviously, you know, it's the mecca for for a lot of things, especially I still consider the NBA as well. And I think certain guests will be able to get there in a lot of other surprise and stuff will have for the show. So I think it'd be major, but I, I know you have to be kind of sad because you're not going to have to drive up to bristle anymore. You're not gonna come up here. You know what it is. It is a very, very sad day because I mean, what's not to love about Bristol, Connecticut. I mean. ESPN down the block that there's a McDonald's and and and and and a ruby Tuesdays and stuff like that. I've really, it's really sad that I'm not going to be able to be there because I'm going to be in new you most times and on occasion, I'll find myself with John and feed and Dominic in LA. I mean my God, it's such a tough tough situation, but I think I'll say, I can't wait and obviously can't wait at four t with you guys. Now that'll be on your home city, but saving, I'll tell team soon. I hope you are actually relaxing for some reason. I don't believe you, but please do that because you know, once you're back, you're back. Just know this when I'm back copy ready, then I'll tell, sorry my condolences to Mexico element in advance must've taken. It's about to be out. All right, Steven, Al. Talk to you soon. All righty. Thank you. Congratulations, Shane. Okay. So we have a first day moving to the Big Apple catch us every day at ten eastern starting on September. Third. Sports right now. I'm at Collins, new Denver Nuggets. Point guard. Isaiah Thomas is sitting down with our MBA insider h. g. now ski, I t who signed a one year two million dollars contract with the nuggets. Last week opened up to watch telling him this free agency was flat out disappointing, the twenty nine year old who continues to fight the perceptions of his help. One onto say, quote, people know that I've earned deserve the Bax contract, and that's the only reason why I didn't get paid what I deserved because I got injured. I get that. The biggest thing for me was to get to the best opportunity for me this summer and show that I'm healthy. You can read. We'll just four article on Thomas right now on ESPN dot com. Staying in the NBA with Kawai heading to Toronto on the broad in Los Angeles. We're looking ahead to who are the best and worst team heading into the season where than forty ESPN reporters, insiders and editors came out with a new set of power rankings. You'd think with James in Los Angeles Lakers at least at the. Five think again, no surprise. The warriors are on top, but three of the top five teams are from the Eastern Conference, the Lakers checking nine, but that's only the six best among Western Conference teams. Let's get back to. I takes Tony. Thank you the Lakers outing. Another piece to help LeBron next season's dining, Michael Beasley to a one year deal. As you just heard the Lakers are number nine in our latest NBA tower, rankings Mazel serve with you. Do think the Lakers or more likely to surprise us as upcoming season or disappoint, you know, I'm a huge Lakers fan. I think they are more likely to disappoint what fortunately with you to say that look. I mean, there are some really interesting piece. I liked the addition of Michael Beasley. They need shooters, but there are some really challenging personalities on this roster land Stevenson and Ray John Rondo and javale McGee. And now Michael Beasley, the expectations are so high for this team. And I think ultimately we're talking about a team that's going to be the six to seven seed. I think in the Western Conference I would never count LeBron. But LeBron James, I don't think has ever been on a team that has finished six or seven in its conference. I think it's going to be a very, very tough challenge for Luke. Walton debt may be the toughest job in the NBA right now, balancing those personalities, balancing those egos and keeping LeBron James happy. Can I respond to Mr. happy over here? Does he need to get in there and say, as I like to say, my real job is at the as the Lakers radio play by play guy. This is going to be great. It's going to be a fascinating lab experiment. Number one, we got LeBron look at the roster LeBron had last year in Cleveland compared to this roster this wrestlers just as good, maybe better. I can't wait to see how these pieces come to. And keep in mind. The Lakers young guys are all getting ready to make a jump. Brandon Ingram doubled his statistical numbers. Last year, Josh Hart was just the MVP of summer league Lonzo ball's coming off of a minor knee surgery, but I expect him to get better this year and Kyle Kuzma was the steal of the draft. I can't wait to see what this Lakers team looks like with will run as the leader. The games are going to be ridiculously exciting, and most of all, we're not going to be losing anymore. I've suffered through five straight losing seasons. The end of that is here, and I think that the Lakers are going to surprise a lot of people in the opposite of Mason. Dominique. I think the Lakers are, if you look at that roster, there's some real possibilities. I think I agree with you in part because I don't think the expectations are very high expectations are pretty low for this team right now. All the reporting about other opinions about this team is that they're the. Main team there. They're a bunch of guys who are wildcards and is no way that you can put together. And it seems like every other week, the Lakers are coming out trying to defend their roster construction and try and explain to us what they're thinking. I think what they're trying to put together as a smart team of bunch of guys who have veteran experience that are adaptable on defense can pass pretty well not as many shoot as you would like to see. But they have a couple of shooters. I think they have a decent team and they have a guy by the name of LeBron James. I don't know if you guys watch the playoffs last year, watch any basketball. James is pretty damn good, and he makes your team a contender immediately. So I think that's -tations are low. So I think they will surprise and then you look at the Western Conference. I think we talk about how heavy how stack the Western Conference is often. I think that's a bit oversold, but to be honest, you look at some of these teams that you think LeBron's going to be worse than Utah. LeBron's going to be worse than Portland LeBron's going to be worse than Denver. Like I know they're good teams, young teams that are getting better, but he's LeBron James and he has a young good coach. Luke Walton wa think is flexible and smart enough to make this team good. I think expectations are low so they will surprise Molly. Where are you on this? They're going to surprise disappoint. What do we think? What do I think people are expecting? Tell me that for fifty wins is what the expectation is an wouldn't you agree make the Ryan that just came out, said that they were ninth in the Powell ratings, right? The ratings ESPN pirating said they're nice night than they're not yet pulling up pulling up the radio. That'd be about right because there's three Eastern Conference teams, so that would put them four, five, six in the state. I think the expectations are Western Conference finals and.
