"Try to enjoy it as much as i can. Walk here because this might be the greatest generation and keeps in chiefs kingdom history. I know one thing that you wanted to talk about. And that's melvin ingram or justin. Houston which. I'm sure is going to bring a lot of groans from the people listening. Why did you wanna touch on these guys. Yeah i just think i mean. Here's the thing right. Now what the chiefs have in the defensive end group is clark taco charlton. Tim ward mike dana. And joshua canedo. And i know everyone says you know chris. Jones is gonna play a lot of defense dan. I while i do believe that. I'm not going to put all of my hopes into that basket. That frank clark christians are going to be on the edge you know sixty sixty five percent of the time and that's gonna solve all of our pass rushing problem because at the end of the day the chiefs are looking at the buccaneers and maybe a handful of other teams as their real competition to get back to the super bowl and all of those teams have you know except for the buccaneers of course mobile quarterbacks to the point where they can at least get away from the rush so the chiefs have to get better at that. They can't really have the the struggles that they had last season. And it's hard to know whether you're gonna get you know a bounceback hear from frank frank clark or not or if he's going to be completely available with this you know situation that transpired in california so outside of assuming that chris jones becomes the starter on the other side. I really do think that the chiefs need to beef up the defensive end group and so i mean the two guys right now right that are out there that are probably the most appealing are going to be. Melvin ingram and justin houston. Now i get it. Justin houston obviously for some people. It's it's kind of a little bit of a turn off but i would just say from a talent standpoint. Who would you rather have is in my opinion. There's one guy that i think is still very good. And there's one guy that i'm i have some serious questions on so i'm actually kind of curious before i say who i'd rather have which one you would prefer l. Justin houston just has been better than frank clark over the last two seasons. Okay you can take the play offs of the equation..

"Just is fine on special teams. Like i don't want him to take a a roster spot away from a marcus camp or a guy who can also play special teams just because of quote unquote potential. I i'm a royals fan. I know a potential is. I've seen albert ammann to see just to me. I would like to see cornell. Powell get his fair shot. I'd like to see mccoll hardman right See if he is going to be part of the future or of mccoy harman's just a guy Damore because robinson you know. I think he's a valuable piece. I don't think the marcus robinson has a ton of upside. I think he is what he is. But what d- rob is is a guy who knows his system. Andy reid trust him. Patrick mahomes trust him. So where i just to me. Throwing into keel hair. Because he was a future. I re or past first round draft. Pick to me. I think a shiny shiny toy but the toy doesn't anything. Yeah and i mean that. That is something you know. I keep on. Is you know the fact that i think. A lot of people are looking at the departure of sammy watkins and again not to denigrate sammy. He was obviously super meaningful to the team during the twenty eighteen and twenty nineteen playoff runs. And they'll always have a place in chiefs history because of that but his regular season production and availability. I think people are almost remembering it as if it were something that it isn't and that's i mean. He averaged twelve games per season. Roughly five hundred twenty five yards and three touchdowns and so. It's not like we need to you. Know take these risks or trade away draft capital or do all these crazy things to replace production like that. And you kinda hit on. I actually have pretty high hopes. For mccall hardman. I know he's kind of drawn. The ire of chiefs kingdom. But i mean if you look at his production not being the quote unquote wide receiver to. It's actually not as bad as people think. In fact you weeks ago. I did a piece kind of along. These lives where. I took a look at so the chiefs. Were the number one passing offense in twenty twenty and so i wanted to look at kind of the top five or six offenses and see what was their wide receiver to actually producing. Say our expectations. For mccall hardman. Maybe too high. And so i looked at like an remember correctly. It was buffalo houston I wanna say new orleans maybe and then Another team or two and either way long story short. Roughly the average for the second most targeted receiver was about seven to eight hundred yards in about. I think sixty receptions and that's i mean nicole hardman. Last season had five hundred sixty yard. Which again isn't jaw-dropping. But i'm with you on that. I think the unless unless the team feels really comfortable with a talent. Like josh gordon or feels really comfortable with a veteran like golden tate. I do actually think they're going to be in a really good spot..

"I'd say that pretty low and that's a pretty significant knock against them. Now the one thing i noticed and this actually once i noticed this along with another aspect i started to think to myself okay. Maybe it's worth giving ago so the first thing is apparently reportedly he's been doing tests for the last three months and he's passed them all now that could mean absolutely nothing like he obviously has to pass those tests to get reinstated but it is the off-season and he's shown some dedication you know. At least it seems to kind of stay clean and things like that. So i'd say that's a positive but the biggest thing i noticed this actually really kind of shocked me. He has averaged in his career. Seventeen point two yards per reception. And you know. I saw that. And i was like wow like. Even in the seasons where he wasn't a huge factor in the offense all of his catches were averaging out to these huge yards per cast. And so something like that. Kinda got me thinking. I looked a little bit more and his production over the three seasons that we talked about and he is again. Averaging about five hundred yards per season playing about nine games and so long story short. I would say as they can't body in potential roster spot if he wants to come play for the chiefs if it's the thing where he is really open to the idea of playing for team like cheese contending champion and at least being cleaned for enough time for the to evaluate him. I don't really see a huge downside to simply bringing him in now. You know we can talk a little bit more about nikiel hairy and the wide receiver room After this but that's kinda my thoughts where where do you fall on that Situation i would be a huge fan of bringing him in judge gordon. That is at least seeing what he can do because he's only thirty. I know that's pretty old for football but that's not extremely old for wide receiver right. I think they're still obviously a lot of talent. He's not been banged up. It's been the wheat. It's not like a guy who was perpetually injured right. it's not a guy who's been able to stand there because of injuries because of well smoking though we'd we know patrick mahomes stands on that as we saw this chakari. Richardson how he seems to be all for let him go. The nfl's getting a lot less strict when it comes to marijuana so i think that also goes and josh gordon's favor you know. The talents undeniable. kansas city. They've dealt with a lot of distractions on this team recently. Britt reid obviously the whole tyreek hill. Saga that was another distraction. Do they want to bring in another distraction. Because it's not act like judge gordon's here and we're everyone's going to say all right. Let's forget about his past and move on the media is we're gonna ask we're good to go. I mean andy. Reid is going to have extra questions. The entire team and organization going to have to answer extra questions. Do they want to bring that. In on top of that my main i would say positive. Here is kansas city. Seemed to be very adept at this. They seem to have a very good organizational structure to where they can handle. And it's not going to bother them. They can afford to absorb the adversity and the distractions and they're still going to make it to the super bowl. If there is a team that can handle this. I think came to city. Is it tyrod matthew. Patrick mahomes the leaders on this team. They're gonna they're gonna sit judge gordon down and say you know what you're not smoking here. I pal like i get it smoke in the off season..

"Welcome to the arrowhead. Adequate podcast with sterling homes and matt conner. Wait scratch that. No matt conner out sick joined by jordan mannix jordan. How's it feel to fill in for the legendary matt conner. you know. i've got some big shoes to fill. I'll give it a shot. But i just i don't know man i don't know if i can do it. We'll see how the show go did. You're filling in for the boss. I mean that's That takes him stones to fill in for the boss right there. Yeah we'll see if he will see he likes what i what i do. Or if he lets me go. I don't know did cross fingers crossed. Can you still cross them after july. Fourth you didn't pull a jp now did you. I did not you know. I other people handle the fireworks at this point in my life. I mean i just You live living you learn. I actually believe it. Or not. When i was a kid. Had a firecracker boils in my hand. So i have a little experience with that. Luckily as i've gotten older. I've gotten wiser as well so so far so good how about you i still have. I'm so scarred. I remember holding a what are those. Like long sticks that sparkler. I held a sparkler and i in my little kid mind i thought okay. I burned myself now. It's trying cool it off with water. So i got under a sprinkler system which blows hard water at your hand and that has made it worse. I also remember when i was thirteen. I'm in southern indiana and we're on atv's with some cousins in worship roman candles on atv's. I'm looking back like what absolute idiot lucky to be alive. Yeah of course. I had a mullet going at that time too. So i feel like that. Really chokes out. Yeah that really checks out. I do wanna talk jeeves. And not my terrible hair decisions. Josh gordon is applying for reinstatement. Josh gordon says he wants to be on a team by train camp do the chiefs who i think still want to a look at a wide receiver. Take a look at josh gordon. If he's reinstated. So here's the thing. When i when i first heard this news it was like same old. Same old right. I mean josh gordon's been suspended. Reinstated suspended reinstated numerous times since his first couple of seasons where he was really good but i think he hasn't played a full season since Twenty thirteen. I wanna say so. When i first heard this i was like okay. You know this is kinda nonsense something. And i'm like not particularly interested in as a cheese fan and don't think that the chiefs front office is interested in it. But i will say so there. There's negatives and there's positives to the idea of like a josh gordon on your team right so from a negative standpoint. We talked about. He hasn't played a full season. Since i think twenty thirteen he last played in twenty nineteen. So yeah you didn't even play last year. And he's only averaged nine games per season and his last three season. So you know even if you were to bring him on. What are the odds that you would actually make it the full season..

"Know if the weather's good by you or i. I think there's supposed to be like a hurricane coming through. I live i. I don't know something like that. Whatever anyways i'll i'll see you when it hits So on this episode. I hope that had a happy. Fourth of july safe fourth of july For joy can be very scary for some people. I know it can be out of control for some people. So i want to make sure everyone has a happy fourth of july and open this. Show i. I've only josh gordon. Asking for reinstatement nfl. I personally think he shouldn't not. Because i don't like the leashes say no. I think he personally should not be trying to play football at this time next. I give my picks for the nba finals. I know televised basketball in the show. But i had to talk about the final. The my picks who wins how many games and why finally i closed the show. Talking about scott fishbowl. First day at the draft happened. So i want to tell about. My experience has been so far. It is far from over for anyone. That's wondering but exciting. The process of tastes throughout this draft to get to the end. Listen you'll see talking about all that.
Top 10 players signed by Patriots
"Talk about the Patriots. The the Patriots grabbed everybody's attention by making move after move after move after move. Like we're watching it over agency going off. How many people are going to bring in its kind of unbelievable how many starters they've added? And so I count they added ten players that I think are very very significant to their team next year. In fact, I would say pretty clearly the Patriots are back and a lot of people saw this coming, you know, but they are going to be a force in the NFL next year here is my list my nerdy list of the ten players the top players. They added that are very significant to their roster next year. The first two are massive. It will reshape the entire Patriots offense. They added two tight ends Johnny Smith and Ed Hunter Henry. To Johnny Smith signed from Tennessee. He signed a four year deal worth up to fifty million dollars. That's Thirty one point two five million dollars guaranteed and he's only twenty-four years old. So that's Monday. That's a really gigantic Marquis franchise player. He cited the reason why it came to New England is cuz he loves Bill Belichick. He's got great respect for him. And I want to point out of all the everybody I'm about to talk about these shows to be in New England Bill Belichick got his kind of guys who sought out New England wanted to be there and wanted to work hard and win a Superbowl. I think it matters. It's very very exciting. These are not with Josh Gordon's or what's the other example Phillip Dorsett who they made a move for and they're not really like that. You think they fit they don't work out know. These are guys who all chose to be in New England who wanted to win a Superbowl. I really want to win a Superbowl. These guys went out of their way to be New England now the other tight and they brought in With twenty-six-year-old tight end Hunter Henry from the LA Chargers got a three-year deal twenty-five million dollars guaranteed. It's worth up to thirty seven point five million dollars total if he meets all those incentives. They also added two wide receivers the Patriots brought in Nelson agholor to a you got a two year twenty six million dollar contract East twelve years old. Now a lot of people do not like this move and I I get it Nelson agholor is not the most flashy player in the NFL but I think if it's very well with Cam Newton, he's good at he's not going up and getting the ball. He's got good hands did some stuff of the Raiders that I think deserves your attention go watch what he did with the Raiders and I just I'm like, huh a lot of good plays. Okay. I understand. I see the potential Bill Belichick and the Patriots would see and Nelson agholor go will give the guy a good contract, especially considering the Patriots have like our desolate at wide receiver. They need help. They got home. Who is awesome but he can't do everything by himself from the slot. They have n'keal Harry who n'keal Harry. I I think he's going to pop. I think he's going to progress and keep getting better. But she's not a number one right now. So on top of the page where it's also added Kendrick Bourne guy from my local area actually went to Eastern Washington University 25 years old. He's coming from the San Francisco 49ers. He got a three year deal worth twenty two point five million dollars. Now another thing the Patriots did they also added they signed Center Ted carriages and they traded for tackle Trent Brown. So this is the new Patriots offense right now. They've receivers Nelson agholor, Julian Edelman Kendrick born and kill hair is its own nuclear Aguilera. I'm doing my best. It's a hard game to say. They also have Sony Michelle running backs for any receivers Sony Michelle at running back and improved offensive line. Cam Newton at quarterback who I get why people doubt Cam? He's a former NFL MVP and with when you put cams Talent with a lot of weapons including two outstanding tight ends Hunter Henry Smith, right man. I'll tell you what I look at the Patriots offense and think two things immediately number one. Everything is going to run through their brand new Titans. Their entire offense now is probably going to drive down the seams of the field right up the middle. They're going to use our tents heavily lot of play-action again. I am scheme wise things will look a lot like the page words did back in the day when they had drunk and Aaron Hernandez together to start tight ends. Now number two. I feel very very confident with Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback and it surprised me but I want to remind you that two years ago. Tom Brady was the page word starting quarterback and did basically nothing and the reason was there were no weapons there. He kept running into the same brick wall. His receivers weren't good enough. So, how can I think you and I would both agree. I like Cam Newton Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Cam Newton. So my point is if Tom Brady couldn't make it work with New England's roster. How was Cam Newton supposed to succeed? He was set up to fail will now Cam Newton's being given weapons is being set up to do. Well, I'm excited man. He's a former NFL MVP, he's hungry. I I personally believe Cam Newton's going to have an awesome year and it really is going to make extended one-year deal with like it was like three and a half million dollars with a bunch of incentives. I honestly think we're gonna look back at his contract at the end of next year and go. Can you believe the deal they got on Camden he played so well for no money. I really think he's he's a guy who can didn't play well enough wage. Last year to earn a new gigantic contract. So he's going to have to show what he can do this year and maybe earn more money next year but I think cam is poised to do very very well and make a lot of money and win a lot of games in New England
Predictions vs Reality NFC West, Seattle Seahawks
"I predicted the Seattle Seahawks to go 11:00 and 5 last year. I pretty much nailed it. They went 12 and for the only game I missed was the San Francisco 49ers. I could not predict that the $59 would have a bunch of injuries. I thought that the Seattle Seahawks and the 49ers would split their series each win one game against each other instead Seattle beat the 49ers in both games. So that's literally the one game it's kind of crazy. I was horribly wrong about the Cardinals the Rams the 49ers. I nailed Seattle. My prediction was right there for I'm actually not that interested in Seattle. Like I like I said, I'm actually way more fascinated when I get stuff horribly wrong. I said before the year that Seattle relies too heavily on Russell Wilson, they're starting quarterback 2000sq them from their problems and kind of ended up being true now, they brought in the receiver Phillip Dorsett. They brought in Phillip Dorsett from New England. I was curious to Phillip Dorsett kind of a breakout year and Go from a guy who was infuriating to watch a New England to maybe having a great season playing with Russell Wilson. Unfortunately Phillip Dorsett did not play a single game the poor guy hurt his foot in training camp and by November Phillip told I was getting surgery to remove bone spurs from his foot. I encourage you look up a bone spur does not look like a comfortable thing but credits yet. I Seattle try to get Russell Wilson some Playmakers. I thought we were set to not work out. Josh. Gordon did not work out. They brought in. You know Speedy Josh Gordon. He had a setback in recovery. Seattle had to end up cutting him so long so brought in Greg Olsen. They they got a veteran tight end Greg Olsen and I look I got a lot of respect for Greg Olsen. He's awesome. Last year Greg Olsen. However was underwhelming had 24 catches for 239 yards one touchdown played an only 11 games missed a couple of games with an injury. So in the end Greg Olsen retired, so Phillip Dorsett, Josh Gordon, Greg Olsen, like the move Seattle made to try to support Russell Wilson just didn't work out and that's not bad. It just it didn't it didn't work. Unfortunately right now again, I love Greg Olsen. He's amazing. I cannot wait to hear the guy in the broadcast booth next year. But now the one thing that came out very very well for Seattle on offense was DK Metcalf. G came back up Seattle second-year receiver. Oh my gosh. This guy is a monster. He had 83 catches for 1303 yards 10 touchdowns. I love to see that DK Metcalf is a receiver that is just at the beginning of his eventual domination over the NFL. He already does dominate in some games. So he keeps getting better and better and he keep getting better and better the more we watch him. Now as I look back on Seattle season, one of the things that kind of sticks out to me that's very weird still is I just did not love their 2020 first-round picks Seattle is kind of known for having weird. First round draft picks. They drafted linebacker Jordan Brooks 27th overall. And he was her early on so Jordan books now, I will say I'm not going to trash on Jordan books by the end of the year. He made some plays with doing some good stuff like Jordan Brooks. Very good football player solid right desert looks like a first-round pick the end of the year. But here's what's weird to me is that when the Seattle Seahawks went to a nickel package meaning that you bring in an extra corner or defensive back onto the field to basically stop the past when they win to track a package which is happening more and more in the NFL because teams are throwing more and more than ever before. In a nickel package. Jordan Brooks is on the sidelines not playing maybe part of that is because they were he's a rookie. They're trying to light workload. I don't know but it's kind of weird to draft a first-round pick and then not have the guy on the field. All the time makes me wonder despite Jordan Brooks being a very solid football game. Could they not have got drafted somebody 27th overall last year that could have contributed even more to their team. Just a question. I'm asking cuz I looked at it. I still book how it's bit of an odd pick life. Even though Jordan Brooks can play it's like whack could they not have done something better or maybe more interesting than Jordan Brooks just me asking a question here. You can answer for yourself. I'm just for me. I'm like man, you spend a first-round pick on a guy who's not on the field all the time,

"Teams which relate fantasy. Hey gabby fan right when our game. So it's you know it's fast fast paced all that kind of stuff We've seen many lease try right to do this to to not not this exact thing. This is different unique in its own way. But we've seen lee try to. I don't even want to see rival but survived Alongside the nfl capacity. And it's never worked barely ever had many but success As as bad as you know as football fans want more and more football We continue to struggle to create a second league of any sort This league is very unique in the fact that you know it house all these different views with drones and feels like a video game sort of right like is very hyped up an animated and all that good stuff so i when i seen the news. Watch josh gordon. I didn't know if. I should be like sad if i should be happy. And i'm happy because he's playing football right like it's clear that's what he loves but at the same time. I know. there's a lot of people who hate josh gordon. Who are like mad at josh gordon. They continue to hold this grudge against josh gordon. I mean he is. He doesn't deliver life for you But i understand that some people get low annoyed for some reason when someone's has gifts or early level skill set and they feel like they quote unquote wasted I don't i don't i don't know i. I understand the frustration about it. Because i just want to see the guy ball out you know what i mean but i don't understand get mad about it like being angry at amer hayden because of it like. Yeah it's frustrating. I get it. I wanna see on ball out to But i'm happy for him going to play football and i'm hoping This is kind of just a you know a little refresher course for the real thing i did see like the nfl. Not the nfl. The owner of this league. You say that Just a little pit. Stop between you know the big game or that of the big the big league or whatever he said So you know he. He's kind of not hinton. But like you know a senior in that you know. This is just a little step for some fun before. Gordon is back in the nfl. I hope he's right. Man i really do I never can talk enough about josh gordon because if you wash his story if you wash the documentary if you you know bene- fans since day one like you know the guy is so talented and he's had these issues with substance abuse and people like you said you know we'd alcohol as the other hard drugs. I don't know man i dunno. It's not my job to figure that kind of stuff out. I don't really care to be honest I hope for his overall health will. We'll be in that he can fix it all and get it strayed but man. I'll be the first guy lineup. If josh gordon is back in the nfl. Ibn it's my fancy teams. And i know. I know he's been gone for so long. How can you possibly be good. Last night he played. He wasn't that good. I don't really care. man. I think drives gordon is good. I believe he still did. I think he's still better than hathaway rec- recently. Possibly and i'll think on josh gordon. All day and fantasy and the bigger conversation is taking the chance taking a shot players. It doesn't have to be josh gordon. But there's guys that maybe you like that other people don't like as much or that you like. And they aren't talked about so highly or that you like and they had a down seizigner two and you still believe I have no issue if you have a deep dynasty team or redraft but super deep rosters You draft those kind of guys I did it. You know in dynasty with josh gordon. For a long time i did with jerick mckinnon for a long time There's a few other guys that you know through injuries. All that kind of stuff. Like i stuck by the man and i enjoy the return of them like even if it's not you know top of the league return or like you know pure rb. Wawa receiver one. You know. i'm okay with that okay. They're just flex where the Some weeks or whatever it is like there's something about like sticking loyalty or guys and and believe in their talent overall right over the health concerns or off the field issues and then sometimes they don't play out In your favor and josh gordon has been kind of one of those you know in a way It hasn't been so great since he's been able to come back and leave. Come back leave. But it's still that risk that i take and it's the practice of it for me like a willing to take that risk on guys that i like on guys that i believe in that. Get the chance can play well. It translates to other guys. It's not just josh. Gordon of the world There's the martavis bryant of the world right lake similar mold like i take chances on him before but again like i said that just that mentality that approach that strategy is what helped me have a jerk mckinnon you know in hold tight and it actually play out pretty well For certain games last year. And you know he. He rebounded for sure right. if there's just players like that For instance maybe. Maybe you have a quarterback who is a backup right now And you either traded for him or you drafted him. But you didn't let them go. Say marcus mariota. For instance you had him as a titans quarterback an and it doesn't work out then he goes because the raiders backup. Not this man. Is again that this again. But now. like what. The raiders trade him. He becomes a starting quarterback against somewhere. Like your chance. You're gamble your risk. It paid off. And i know mary a different case. And allow these other cases because they're not in trouble right They haven't had fifty thousand chances in and blew them but the point remains the same as what. I'm trying to get at here I i do hope that this whole josh court situation. This is a stop of sorts and he does returned to the nfl. In whatever capacity in that he's you know flex worthy fantasy or you know something you know why receive if he returned to you know obviously receiver. Three demi great. I'll take flex a couple of weeks. I just wanna see him. Get there Because it's not about fantasies while life she you know so. It's one of those things where i feel like people laugh at it and they joke about it but i think subconsciously somewhere. I'm i'm just pulling for josh gordon. The person and that's why. I continue to hold that hoping that regard also But yeah talent wise. I do hope. Josh has to return next year will be with the seahawks. Will it be with you know another team. I don't know you know this is this. There's no way to give advice on this at this point. It's just if you believe in the guy you hold onto him right. I'm marcus mariota. I really do believe he's any chance to start again. This league i think he deserves it i think. We you with the raiders last year and very limited capacity had me they can damn. This can play football. This duke still got it still got it now. I was shocked. I i'm not used raiders. Back coming in there and do he did so I was shocked. Manso those are the kind of guys. I will continue. Chances on jerick mckinnon. I will continue to take chances on those kind of guys and do they pay off monstrous not typically Usually some big payoff in the end. Not typically But it's the same way. When i draft guys devante parker of the world He was a great case. Study of this in fact like again not out of the league not at a league but four or five all these years. You're waiting for this guy to do something he finally does it. And you were rewarded for that. So you can't do with every player you can't do with every guy it's not always gonna work. This is all about risk versus reward. And don't forget your plan. Fancy football for fun. Yeah you try. Where money trying to feed your reputation but at the end the day like i do is for fun so If i hold onto a guy. I really like and he ends up coming back and playing. That's a success to me man and if he becomes flex worthy and ragged the train them later for other value later. This man i i i i get excited about. That kind of stuff is another layer of the game for me so To think is there any player. The top of my head that i've continued to hold onto now In the jerick mckinnon devante parker You know type of mold that you know i could still be holding onto in some people's eyes even too long at this point I don't know if i have any of my dynasty teams right now. that are in that mold. I'm trying to think of top Yeah i believe it or not. I still have josh gordon Team or too so. There's actually a team. I have with mckinnon end josh gordon. So see i stayed held held strong to a certain players that i believed in So those are just two of them but and there's going to be more. Do not do not ever question the fact that there's more players like that That i'll just hold onto in dynasty. 'cause i'm allow with super deep benches and you know i just find it fun to hold on guys like that and there's players right now who are playing that currently make sense sort of how people's benches but one day you know in their third season whether or not you know tearing it up as we had hoped though still beyond martine and i'll still be waiting for that player to have his resurgence antonio brown is another case of this As mad as he made me as a raider fan as mad as he made me bolden on his before the season acting so excited on video to be off the raiders team. I still had antonio brown on some teams and that hopefully isn't a payout. It looked like it looked good last year when he came back. And i'm hoping that it should only better next year. I'm listen. I'm excited about tony brown here so That is definitely one of the players that you know you could consider right now. "Who won't when the Seahawks take on the giant sundae. Seattle Spinal Injury report for the week list tackle Branden Shell running back Travis Homer and Corner Trey Flowers all doubtful to play against the New York Giants Carlos Dunlap and Carlos Hyde, questionable for the NFC West leaders. Pete Carroll today weighed in on the NFL, reinstating suspended receiver Josh Gordon. We know him a lot better now. It would be different him coming to us this time around, But I'm mostly thrilled just to have the opportunity and we're gonna you know, have a really good football player to come try to help us out down the stretch. Gordon could play for the Hawks and week 16.

Patriots may soon have to deal with their first Antonio Brown issue and it has to do with his number
"We have to talk about the biggest storyline in the NFL Antonio Brown as it looks like the saga for Antonio in some ways is finally ending and in other ways. It's just beginning for number eighty four as Antonio uh-huh Brown signs a one year proved deal with the New England patriots and it's hilarious because there is so much speculation when all his shenanigans with the Oakland Raiders for going on that really it was just a grand master plan for Bill Bella check to somehow land the all world talent wide receiver in sure enough he gets released from the raiders and later that day signs deal with the New England patriots another huge weapon in the offense four. Tom Brady and this has shades of what Randy Moss did did when he was with the Oakland Raiders. Moss spent some time in Oakland during his games he played for the raiders. You could just see that the big hall of fame wide receivers hardest wasn't in it. He wasn't really producing for the raiders he was now running routes with this full heart. You can just tell that he wasn't the Randy Moss when he was sooner in Oakland and then he goes to the Patriots under Bill Belichick and has a career year a record setting year with Tom. Brady Brady threw for fifty touchdown passes does that offense was just a cold plays away from being the first team to go perfect nineteen in Oh as they were trying to catch the seventy two dolphins they lose of of course the super bowl to the tremendous comeback led by Eli Manning and the New York giants. Is this going to be just like that. Are we gonNA see a patriots team. That could possibly go undefeated after Sunday night. That's a very real possibility that defense for the Patriots absolutely shut down the steelers and and if they know they're gonna get just a boatload of points on the offensive side of the ball you know Bill Belichick GonNa give all of his time and effort to making sure that that defense is ready eighty each and every week for their match. Make sure everyone's healthy ready to go that the scheme is right and we very well could see a run at history again in New England might right sound a bit presumptuous just in week one but the steelers are a classic. AFC favorite especially when they had the big three Bell Brown and Rothlisburger now with two of those three pieces Gone Smith Schuster looks to pick up the slack for Antonio Brown but now yet to find someone to pick up the slack for Juju at that wide receivers Chris to spot you also gotta be be frank here that James Connor is not living on bell. We saw that in that game Sunday night so the steelers were still a good test defensively civilly always are fantastic and brady made them just look like a peewee football team out there as he had no problem going for thirty three points in that game and pass over three hundred honored yards. You put a be in that mix with Josh Gordon Julian Edelman the running back tandem of James White as well as Sony Michelle is going to be a really tough challenge to beat this patriots team and because of that you who who's to say I mean they they could do it. They could do it you. You can't say they can't there. There is a real world possibility with the addition of Antonio Brown that the Patriots could make some history but now we gotta look back at how this came to be an Antonio oneal brown you could tell really from the Gecko once he got into camp once he started running some routes with Derek Carr in this raiders offense something clicked in his head that he did not want. I WANNA be in Oakland. I mean he did the cryotherapy happens and you chalk that up to operator malfunction with the frostbite on the feet then he goes on this insane escapade with the helmet trying to get all that taken care of in think in trying to use his old helmet. He's used forever he. He's had six months to do it and he doesn't think that's enough time to find a new helmet. I mean he's not looking for new kidney. He just needs a helmet you. There's ways to figure that out to make it fit and make it. It'd be comfortable everyone else in the NFL did it why couldn't he that becomes an issue. He's stays out of training camp. He doesn't do the walk throughs. The helmet issue did not mean he couldn't couldn't practice with the team he did that on his own accord and then he goes after the general manager of the raiders after he gets fine for actions he knows our final. He did them with that in mind. There wasn't like that fine just came out of the sky on him and Mike mayock gets verbally costed by Antonio Brown he goes on a barrage. I use of slayer of slurs cuss words to Mike May Auchan your raiders still still planned on playing him in there Monday night game against the broncos broncos that says a lot about the raiders as an organization that they were willing to take this abuse from Antonio Brown and take all this Prima Donna behavior behavior that was happening with Ab and still play him Monday night when he's barely practice with the team we talked earlier in the season here here on this show about how Antonio Brown by taking all this media attention has helped the raiders rookies developed because they haven't had to deal with it and that's still true in the lot of the raiders rookies have talked talked about in themselves and the second year players have said by having Antonio Brown. It's been nice that they haven't had to deal with the media coverage and hard knocks and that was really a lot more centered around Antonio Brown but he's also had a terrible example as an a way to conduct yourself as professional with what he's done with the raiders clearly didn't want to be there show the the reaction video when he finally gets released from the raiders and all of that finally goes down and I think the raiders are better off for it you if you're going to establish a new culture in Oakland. You can't have this going on in your locker room on your sideline. You need to get Antonio Brown out of out of there if he wants out all the better let him go you cut your losses just saved a lot of money by voting that twenty nine million that you would yet. You'RE GONNA pay him over the three years Antonio Brown you get your wish you go you get to play for the Patriots I think both sides can kind of wash their hands of the issue but now the rest of the NFL has to deal with the Patriots and Tom Brady having Tony Brown as viable and very real. You'll weapon for them

Josh Gordon will be eligible to play the patriots season opener ESPN radio Spain IT company with chase and god spoke with Boston globe columnist terra Sullivan well I would my initial reaction and I think leans toward my optimistic side which which recognizes that the NFL is is on on it but recognize that it's not always about you know performance enhancement or anything like that that sometimes these are mental health issues and I think it works he there's just some recognition that the issue you had over the years are are very personal in nature and and not about the folders on the field and and that perhaps you don't understand that the structure and you know the likelihood that the NFL provide it is more beneficial to human being in the long run as Josh Gordon spoken on the the the triggers that that you know his substance abuse comes with whether the stress of the NFL or the resources of the NFL are a hindrance or help in terms of his fighting the demons that he has to fight every single day as an abuser well that is such a great question I wish I could say yes in my own personal experience the answer's no when I think back you get with the patriots last year it was very controlled and I completely understand why I don't get what they get but you know we requested that the game there really wasn't much chance to interview him during the week in the locker room so you didn't hear you didn't really get to drill down into the that stuff I quite honestly even with the attempt so not spoke about it on not to speak about that that's part of what he deals with but I think when you go back and you read some of the deeper dive the people of Donald whether it's you know ESPN and over the years sparkle street if you just understand that you know the background he came from like you issues of mental health and I mean he acknowledged it the most we got within this week that he put out himself you know thank you remember how it went down last year that he put it out on Twitter that he was stepping away to help with mental health even though that was probably just you know as we learned it was just an example of what was going to be a sense that he felt that's really the most recognition you've got you know it yeah the reason we all know it's difficult to be a professional athlete and be able to help you but perhaps even more difficult to be away from the job that you love and then that can exacerbate your mental health issues I don't have any easy answers with this issue what I do think it's something that you know maybe we're talking about a little bit more now even than what they just were next the last time he and the pats were together the parting of ways was over missing some meetings getting injured at a photo shoot there were issues with him outside of the substance abuse now obviously those things can be connected right you can be late to meetings or you can make bad decisions because of the substance abuse but how much of faith can the patriots put into with this reinstatement being available and being trusted and and depended upon I don't think you can I don't think you can lie in a bed you know your number one guy I think anything it always the approach of anything we can't describe the bonus and let's be Frank what the teachers need right where the big area of meeting you about a cat all right so they're probably more willing in this case that Dr you give it a try they they already connected well on the football field last year and it the result is this you know that's the constant back and forth with these types of issues and as long as there's not another violation Josh Gordon will be suiting up for the patrons of their season opener against the Steelers for Senate at football in September rate in Foxboro better scorer than Michael Jordan what is ESPN radio's will came thick if you were trying to draw really tie box and say somebody was better at something than Michael Jordan I wouldn't suggest you start with better score the Jordan now listen Morrison analytics guy and maybe he has some specific number that can back up this argument and I understand some of this when it comes to James harden we've talked about here on the show James harden doesn't get credit enough for how efficient he is he's seen other thought of I think kind of casually as a volume score but he's highly efficient and effective field goal percentage is three point percentage his assists yep everything all more than Jordan well hold on there as you go through it look let's go with points per game first in nineteen eighty seven Jordan averaged I believe thirty seven points a game harden's highest was this year it was thirty six points per game so Jordan had a season where he scored more than James harden also Jordan a decade later in nineteen ninety seven shot I think forty two percent from three harden never shot something like that kind of percentage from three so Jordan's and we'll look at this review got their basketball references pulled up there I do I don't think is James harden's effective field goal percentage way higher than Jordan's I'm not sure that it is I think its highest ever is like five twenty five in Jordan had a five fifty season did you not five oh nine is Jordan's career five twenty five is is James harden so now with the high water mark look at their season high water marks Jordan had a more effective field goal percentage season in one James harden's ever hat right I don't think if you took their ceilings hardens ever reached Jordan's level let me lay out the strongest and that's where it is Jordan did all of this in an era when it was undoubtedly harder to do so Devens was tougher the game was more physical hand checks were allowed thousand more readily given now and the league's embraced a three pointer to a degree that they did even imagine backing Jordan's day when Jordan was doing this for example I believe in the late eighties when he was scoring so much it was an average like seven eight nine three pointers a game in the nineties as Jordan evolved in the game of all the got up to sixteen three pointers a game but this past season NBA the average number three points per game doubled from that to thirty two three pointers per game James harden is doing in a day and age when the three and jacking up a three has been fully embraced and defenses just simply aren't as tough my contention is this in the end you put Michael Jordan today's NBA he's going to destroy it well can show on ESPN radio thanks for tuning into sports center all night of John Ryder to Major League Baseball Yankees looking to bounce back after getting trounced by the Indians nineteen oh five on Thursday night teams played game two of their four game series on Friday night in the Bronx.

"And ESPN radio and ESPN app when it comes to wiggle room in the patriots Adam Schefter ESPN NFL insider had to say I think what happens here whether it was with the Cleveland Browns of the New England Patriots you want to be there for Josh Gordon you wanna support Josh Gordon you want to count on him but you know you can't count on him if he's their employees much of the season that's a boost in a bonus for the patriots offense but he is proven time and time again that he is somebody that no team can count on the course of a full season but you much rather have a man not in doing on case there without rob Gronkowski there without some other offense weapons they need help with the wide receiver position and so they will do their best to support him try to look after him take care in the hopes that he can be there all season long everybody wants you to be there all season long he struggled to do that in the past you hope that he can do that now well that is the hope there's no doubt out but you can understand where chef these coming from with that because he's talking about what the passive spanned four four Josh and again when we saw him on the field he was a productive player in the the other thing that you think about that because this is layer to me it's about his life it's well what do you do on the field also the patriots a piece of this is well Freddie the patriots while the patriots other teams could be able look at at this player and say you know what if he can be able to sell the Philly can help us but there's something about the patriots we've seen this in the past right will Corey Dillon we've seen this with the other players that were cast off from other teams and they come to the patriots because bill Belichick the patriots thank you know what if we bring them into the fold let them focus on football they'll be fine it is you know it if the patriots are almost like a college campus in some ways there are just focused on football he like Alabama maybe like Michigan I don't know just the idea that the focus on football team and maybe that can be able to hold players accountable they can call each other kind of because it's a better locker room I don't know if that's going to be the case for Josh I don't know but maybe that's the thinking for Bella check and for the newly patriot trying to bring a man into the full so can be a difference maker for the team the pages of never been afraid of fire of getting too close to getting burned plenty of other teams have had that though you know it can't risk it ma'am we get too close to that guy he's gonna since everybody in this organization we may not be able to recover from that for more than a minute it seems that if there's any kind of fire next to somebody the page is willing to take that chance that they are not afraid of getting burned they believe that they're full of teflon the full of asbestos and that's the case with Josh Gordon because of that talent they saw what he was able to do in a small intimate last you a Tom Brady and it thinking man if he's big he's figure this out it's not because it's a lot of money that because if anything if he has man we're gonna be hell on wheels if not we can say we tried our best but Josh Gordon Josh Gordon Josh Gordon fill the New England Patriots they're not afraid of that fire because lord knows Josh Gordon he has had plenty of fire on the football field and off the football field good all one in but not good on the other but what is the real reason outside of his talent that the pages either take another chance on Josh Gordon a friend stopped by an answer that question next on ESPN radio.

"Could put out there in count on to be there and part of this stuff is being able to play every game and be there for as often as you can, and just Gordon for reasons that I understand. But you just can't count on this man to be there on a regular basis, while either, we're going to be a society that believes that. Drugs and mental health and addiction are real illnesses, that should be addressed. Or we don't right? Because if he were cancer survivor. Right. And he was going back and forth because of treatments emissions that we wouldn't hesitate to say he skin of opportunity as soon as he's healthy again, we wouldn't hesitate, but we're still pausing when it comes to drug abuse, or if it comes to mental health, because we still don't quite feel as if it's the same thing as those kind of physical elements because we think there's a level of self inflict, infliction volved, and I don't think we can have it both ways of society. And you certainly can't have it both ways as a league that pumps drugs into the players every single season and then rain. Never stood at the NFL from doing something. They have a poxy filter. Painkillers. Dan, we kick you out to being addicted killers. I think when you when you go back and you look at the whole Josh Gordon situation in, in life. In general, you say he's gotten a lot of opportunities. A lot of chances, right? And a lot of people feel like that he shouldn't get these opportunities chances, because he keeps squandering them for whatever reasons that he does. I don't know a lot of people assume marijuana because he got caught smoking. That was the initial thing, but they don't know what it is. It could be much deeper than that, that continues to trigger, whatever that is. It could be mental health. It's, it's a million different things. I'm just glad to see a guy like Tom Brady stand up in this situation because I've seen other players that are big time guys like a Brady that once they're done with a certain player did just done with them. They're like he's gonna care about him, but genuinely, he's taken him. And it's not because he needs him. I promise you that. It's not because Tom Brady needs him to be successful, because clearly he doesn't is because he really passionately cares about who the individual player is. And if he can get him around the positive if a guy can see, you know, so amazing to me when when if you grew up this way when you can go somewhere, and you could see something is life changing, you know what I'm saying you can go, and you can see positive people in you around positive. We know Tom Brady is not gonna do some of the things that maybe Josh Gordon has done or other players. Just not gonna do it because he has to stay squeaky clean..
NFL free agency: All the latest signings

"By the news today speaking with Steven Jones before the news came out ignore that Gregory still has challenges that he has to deal with. But they commended him for the play that he has an issue that he had in two thousand eighteen and they're hope really is that by the time that he gets back on the field in two thousand nineteen that will take care of everything both on and off the field and be there on the cowboy star playing football again next September doesn't sound familiar. And it's not so much to do with Randy, Gregory. Doesn't sound familiar when it comes to Josh Gordon. Why are we hearing a lot about that? When Josh Gordon finding was cut loose better. Cleveland browns. They said, yeah, we weren't surprised by this. We've tried and tried and tried. But you just can't keep it together. We weren't surprised by him putting him so back in that situation. Again, even knowing the patriots. They wanted surprising. They cut bait with Josh's, Gordon. Well, they moved on from him. That is Randy Gregory, he and Josh Gordon are the same dude. Loads of talent loads of ability people wanting to give them chance after chance at the chance getting chance after chance after chance and yet was not good enough for them to stay away. From those teams stay away from all of that. That could bring them down. Josh growing is ever going to play in the National Football League. But two teams had enough to team said, you know, what we know about your ability. You seem to be a good dude who continues to put himself in bat in a bad way. We can't have that on his football team. We're not going to do that. We're not going to waste our time with you. If you don't wanna waste enough time to make sure that you're going to be right. That you're not going to continue to have definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result expecting people to give you more of a pass more of a chance. I can't wait to find out. How both of these guys Randy Gregory. And Josh, Gordon. How would they handle another self inflicted setback? This has nothing to do with the NFL being too hard on both of these guys. This has nothing to do with the teams cutting these guys and not giving them a fair shake both Randy Gregory. And Josh Gordon have got more than a fair shake. So now, it is on them how they going to handle another self inflicted setback for Randy Gregory's sake. He's in a better position than Josh. Gordon? Jeff, Gordon does not have a team. Randy Gregory does with the Dallas Cowboys even Steven Jones. Jerry Jones Assan said, of course, they don't like what's gone on your Randy, Gregory. But they want to do everything they can to make sure the person is better. He stressed that. The person is better. They want the player to be great too. Because the Cowboys are desperate win the championship. But there's something about Randy Gregory that this gotta be a likeability factor with him. Because Josh growing had a likeability factor too. And Cleveland New England said enough done period in the story, browsing up put himself as a desperate team. The pages did not put themselves at a desperate team with. Josh, gordon. The Cowboys by not giving up on Randy Gregory eighteen that is desperate desperately win a championship. And that guy's talent has been way too much with them to ignore. But for me here on Freddie and Fitz Simons on Freddie, Coleman on ESPN radio and the ESPN app for me. It's not about feeling sorry for either one of these guys because I refused do that. When you had the gifts opportunities that both Josh, Gordon and Randy Gregg have had. And maybe they will again, we not ital- is a great great narcotic for NFL teams. It is very seductive. It is very inducing. It is very when you see a guy with not just game changing ability. But Sammy shift changing ability and Josh Gordon has that a wide receiver. There's no doubt about that. Randy, Gregory has that playing defensive end when you got a defensive line with him and DeMarcus Lawrence you 'cause a lot of problems offensive lines. And we saw that when Randy Gregory seen the not being that dark place anymore, and he played even when he had a couple of mistakes his towels able to override those mistakes in the football field because he was making plays you had to deal with that guy from a game plan standpoint. So because it had -bility because of their gifts it's no guarantee that either one Josh, Gordon and Randy Gregory or get another shot in the National Football League. And Randy Gregg more than Josh Gordon because he's still a member of the Dallas Cowboys it to me. It's not about feeling sorry for them. I'm not going to do that. And neither should you this on both of these guys to try to find a way out of the hell that they put themselves in. When the pages cut a guy loose that was helping them on the football field. It went far beyond football. And they said we're not gonna have this blow up in our face. We're not going to do that. I can't wait to hear. Also, Jerry Jones is going to do because I wonder how many people in the organization of telling him. I know you care about this young, man. I know you believe in this talent. But do we really want to continue down this road with four times? Four times he has been suspended by the NFL four-times. Randy Gregory can't keep it together. Four times the Dallas Cowboys probably have not been surprised when the NFL brought the hammer down on him once again. When did Dallas cowboy say enough? But more importantly when do Randy Gregory. And Josh Gordon say enough. That's what I that's the answer. I wanna find out from both of those guys if the Cowboys decided to cut him I'd be surprised about that. I really really would it would be in their best interest to do. So and let Randy Gregory try to figure out who Randy Gregory is what Randy Gregory is going to be. And you can see afraid has really cold to say he deserves a second chance. He's gotten for them. He's gotten at least three what when you try to save somebody that may not want to be saved that can't be saved. It's a cold world that we live in Randy Gregory should have been able to at least figure that out. He has not come from the best of circumstances. In terms of growing up and dealing with stuff. You would think that would factor into his equation, apparently, not so whatever help he needs. It can't be the Cowboys doing it for him. Randy Gregg has to do it himself. Josh Gordon has to do it himself. These are the same guy. These are the same man and that same man time and time again as put that man in a difficult situation. When do they say enough before their team does it for them? Going back to the NBA here on Freddie and Fitz Simons with Freddie Coleman the blame game in Los Angeles with the Lakers and in New Orleans with Anthony Davis, keep it here on ESPN radio at this point of view.

"Listened to sports podcast in America show. I'm like, we gotta get there. Like, you know, what I'm saying? We gotta start we live in a town with how many people like fifteen million people. I don't know. It's a lot. Okay. So let's go like it's more than some states. And there's a lot of people listening on the app that aren't from here either. They just love the Lakers or the cheese year. Whatever me or Ramona. Exactly. So we need to help. All right. Let's go we need to make this thing. So anyway, here's why I think people are being lazy when it comes to the Super Bowl. I feel like everyone's just and I was guilty of this for the first couple of rounds. Oh, man. I can't bet against the patriots. Like valid Jag. Miami nine Super Bowls. And that to me is not a good enough reason to pick them there. We as weak as they've ever been here. Honestly, the I can't even really believe they made it and I remember doing a segment on around the horn win. When they cut Josh, Gordon. Remember that they had to cut him? And it was like all patriots done. Gronk hurt. Brady's not the see. We can't throw downfield like a yu-su. Josh Gordon was the only receiver. They had. They been great at that time. They lost Tennessee in Detroit. Right. A couple of really that talented compared to how they've been in the past. Right. They're not so interesting interesting that they've gotten all the way back here because what it speaks to is just growth and development of a team. That's come together over time. That's coaching. Right. That's good player development. But it could also speak to like kind of a weakened AFC. Okay. The asian. That's just average at best average. And then they beat the chiefs obviously that was big win that was close game. And it was like kind of the chiefs first year on the stage show field Yates, our buddy works at ESPN. Cam likes to say that like he wrote this story about all this stuff about the patriots and the division and this that and the other and he says, well, the division would you know, if you take all the the patriots games out those teams would generally be eight. So they'd be good enough to be competitive. Even in a playoff race most years, and I'm like, yeah. That's fine. But it doesn't matter. They're still weaker teams show by the because he says, you know, look at the patriots win percentage against the teams that have above five hundred records. It's like he's still like sixty five sixty six percent. I'm like, right. But they still get to play the doormat which in a physical sport like football that aids them once they get to the big boy, Matt. Yes..

"Player is Josh Gordon. If he if he played another season, you'd be maybe top ten it is it's like the guy we go to gym the guy, we always go to remember what Tom Brady is two thousand six Rochet Caldwell. Who these guys are all on this list? And it's like Tom Brady has made more chicken. Well, there's no who about reshape Caldwell on this show man of the clones are so obsessed with this guys is. He's talked here on their list stopped here. The Tom Brady lists to the guys. Like, Tom Brady's ten greatest receivers. How does this guy make chicken salad out? All that crap. It's unbelievable. I think it I think the thing that strikes me about the patriots is that they figured out modern offense before everybody else did they can plug and play receivers. They have the quarterback they have pass catching running backs, and they went modern with the way they approach it ahead at like five years ahead of everybody else. And it's worked out for him. Really? Well. Why can't anybody else doing it? Just brady. No. I mean, I think that I think people are the the patriots have some weaknesses like they always overdraft quarterbacks and they drafted. So my receivers in the second round that didn't work out. But by large they found guys who do specific things very, well, like the element of welfare, yours have the mind meld going on with the route tree and the option routes they run with and so that opens up things where you can utilize guys like Russia Caldwell. And then you can utilize Antoine Smith backfield Kevin Faulk, James white. There's always a pass catching running back right now. Eshelman elements could elements really really good. Is he hall of fame? Good. He's not even close. This is a I mean, I don't want to insult anybody. Who might have said it that I might be friends with it's a trash take. If you think joined elements in the hall of fame, you didn't you're then you are ignoring his regular season stats. I get it. He's second all-time it postseason sets it postseason catches. That's great. But he has two thousand yard receiving seasons in his career. There's mega truck comparisons out there get outta here that Calvin Johnson's one of the transcendent talents is it a slippery slope. If we let adamant into we have to let into yes. Yes. Welker. If you look at Gerry Adams best season, he has lower numbers than west welcomers average over six seasons in New England average one hundred twelve catches twelve hundred yards and six touchdowns with the patriots and Welker didn't even give a sniff of the hall of fame. But I'll tell you though, when he came back. They had a very different look offensively. All of a sudden stuff started come together now Sony Michelle had a lot to do with that, of course. But when he missed those four games, they did not look, right? And then when he came back, you could see how happy Brady was to see him one about the patriots mystique, right? Or does that matter in a game? Like this for instance, if you took that same exact team and put them in a different uniform how big a difference where to make I think that it makes a huge difference. And we tried to get rid of it. I did specifically like an idiot. Tried to get rid of him for the chargers game trying to get rid of it for the chiefs game it exists. It's real go against Dan. Both get both those games. I'm a moron. Jim. That'd be nice established, by the way, I did too. I mean, I thought the chargers were the better team. They were the better team at Bella. Check coached Anthony Williams pants off. And then he went indicate the city any out coach Andy Reid on of his pants were off their at least down around.
Robbie Anderson Robbie, Keenan Allen And Packers discussed on Fantasy Focus Football
"All right time now for one of our favorite segments of the week. It's wide receiver cornerback matchups with my clay. But before we get into the wide receiver cornerback matchup. We're going to solicit information from our good friend. Kyle soppe on the IBM insight of the week, featuring Robbie Anderson Robbie. Anderson. Romance by Packers this week. He's gone over fifteen point six points in consecutive games. And IBM Watson gives them a twenty two point seven percent chance to do it again this weekend. But he also carries a twelve point five percent bus chance, which would mean four or fewer points. You don't like that idea? Can it be a wide receiver three or a flex play for you this weekend? Mike the Packers don't have a lot defensively, but they do have to rookie Cornerbacks. That are impressive most specifically gyro exander. No question. He has been impressive. They also have Josh Jackson in there. They can good too. Yeah. He has been he's been up and down for sure, but shot and is a guy. Yeah. No question. He's an umbrella. He played outside. So he's been in the slot as of late. So they've some talent there for sure but they're still give up a ton of fantasy production. It's kind of like you think about Pittsburgh, right? Might kill them is really good song corner. But they get destroyed by slot receivers every every single week based on matchups against linebackers and safeties things along those lines unless the Packers have been destroyed by receivers all season long third-most. Fantasy points allowed to the permettre over the past two months. Six most over the past month, you'll get Robbie interested primarily perimeter receiver. Seventy six percent of the time. He's on the outside. He'll see the rookies Alexander and Jackson throughout this game. In his Kyle just pointed to he's getting volume as of late seven plus targets during five of his past teams seventy five and a touchdown during each of his past two games. So he is bounce back after that slow start, which is good. He's I think he's a very talented player. Sam darnold found a way to get him the football. And I think he is a wide receiver three or flexes weak little risky. But again, how many times we're going to say this throughout the show if you like that thirty to fifty range of receiver. It's a lot of a lot of guys with high ceilings and low floors. Yeah. No, no doubt about that. Especially in week sixteen when the stakes are so high, right? And the reality is a lot of people playing in the championship may not be making decisions about players that are kind of flimsy in terms of outlook. Right. Like, you have studs at you're going with. But there have been plenty of injuries. There have been you know, you may feel less confident because it quarterback doesn't. Play and as a pertains to a wide receiver. There are reasons to be a bit concerned be looking for reinforcements. Maybe no del. Maybe. No, no, Josh Gordon on Sunday. We'll see about Julio Jones, for example, players like that who could be out or limited. We'll see Keenan Allen, by the way, and what start with some news here before we get into the match up. He has with the ravens on Saturday night. But to find you it sounds like things are trending in the right direction here for Keenan Allen, right? And our Adam Schefter reporting today that Keenan Allen is expected to play you know, as I had mentioned earlier in the week. This is really a pain and functionality issue with a hip pointer, not a serious structural issue. But really how well could he function as the week progressed in his house like he's turned a corner, and they're feeling very optimistic about his ability to go I still maintain that the one thing you're concerned about is. If you look back at the video of when it got hurt he goes up in the air. He lands, you know, really hard directly on that. Right. Hip. It wouldn't take as much to flare it up and cause them to have to come out. But kim. Keenan Allen is one tough guy. And so I don't expect to see it. You know, I think to me is like the risk of stepping on the football field and having that injury last week. You just take that with a grain of salt and know that that's a possibility..
NFL playoff picture: Chiefs’ loss against the Rams helps the Patriots in the race for the AFC’s top seed
"So Nick after you saw what you saw from both teams offensively last night in the Rams and the chiefs can the patriots keep pace with that type of offense St. think not the patriots we've seen through ten weeks now with the patriots won't turn the ball over the way both teams Dade yesterday. They won't commit a dozen first-half penalties or close to it. The way the chiefs did yesterday, they're not going to beat themselves. But you looked at just the overwhelming offense of talent take the quarterbacks out of it and Brady last month hadn't been great take him out. Let's Brady come the playoffs going to be awesome with lesser grunk with Josh Gordon that still is not yet seemingly fully on the same page with Brady you look at what the saints have what the Rams have what the chiefs have what the Steelers have even and you say as far as talent. Perspective. The patriots are playing Tom Brady's stacked deck against him. And so I mean, I wouldn't count the patriots out in any scenario because they're so good at the details. But as far as trying to win a shootout, I know they did against cancer the earlier in the year. I was with gronk little healthier that was with the team playing a little bit better. I don't think they can keep up with the top flight offenses in the league as we're seeing them right now, we always do this in football is not a tale of the take. You look at the pats. How they play you watch the game last night. You'll be like, wow. How are they going to keep up this going to do the pets have started seven and three in the last ten years? They've done that half the time, but they've only made it to the Super Bowl with a by. So if they were to play one of these teams, and they had a bye, you're not gonna see Tareq you'll have two hundred yards that does not going to happen to a Bill Belichick team. So they might go score some points. They might build move the ball. But you're not gonna have one guy Bill to dominate the game. So in seeing this what? Say it's not about the offense. Do Bill Chitwood do something about Kansas City, entire healed. Now would Kelsey heard him would a healthy. Sammy Watkins Bill to hurt them. They have so many talented players on both side the way the Rams played patients. Couldn't do anything with that Jared Goff played that way in the Super Bowl. The patriots wooden goes, Tom because there's not one thing that they would build a take away from them was Bill bell. Check is going to try to do. The thing about is. It's not a matter who's the best right now. We know the patriots are going to get better. It's predictable. They're always better as the season goes on. So now in these last six games will they go five and one will they go six to build a get either that number two seater that number one seat that is the key to them. They will keep evolving keep getting better. Let's see how the Rams how they respond to this by a right? It's still a very very young team. I do like how they responded after the law. Us to New Orleans how they've come back and how Sean McVeigh has replaced the overall productivity of Cooper Cup. So those things I think are very very positive going forward. But the patriots they will not be the same team in January that they are today..
Researchers Uncover A Circuit For Sadness In The Human Brain
"Reports that involves distinct pattern of communication between brain areas involved in emotion and memory, there's lots of evidence linking sadness and other emotions to part of the brain called the amid della. But a team of researchers wanted to know precisely what the amid della and other brain areas are doing when someone's mood is shifting because so Jose psychiatrist at the university of California, San Francisco who was part of the team we really wanted to get at you know, when you're feeling down or when you're feeling happy. What exactly is happening in the brain those moments? You can't get that from brain scans there too slow. So the team studied twenty one people who were in the hospital to get brain surgery for severe epilepsy before the surgery doctors insert tiny wires into the brain and monitor its electrical activity for up to a week. So how says the team hoped those? Recordings would help answer a basic question. When patients are sitting there watching TV or talking with their family or just waiting or being anxious, which regions of the brain are talking to each other the patients agreed to keep a running. Log of their moods. Then the team looked to see whether certain moods were linked to communication within specific networks in the brain. And so hall says some of them were what was really surprising to us was that it was the same network in most of the subjects. So in about two thirds of the subjects there was one network which over and over again would tell us whether they were feeling happier side that network involved communication between the amid delight which plays a role in emotion and the hippocampus which is critical to memory the signals between these areas became much more intense at times when people reported feeling sad. So how says the finding published in the journal cell may bring comfort to people with depression as a psychiatrist it's incredibly powerful just to I think status patients. We actually know there's something happening in your brain. When you're feeling more down. Josh, Gordon who directs the National Institute of mental health says in one sense, the study merely confirms earlier research on animals, it's finding a circuit a piece of the brain that we kind of already knew was involved in mood. That's the less than well part. The wild part is that it's human beings. Anti says, it provides a detailed map of what's going on in the human brain, Gordon, says discoveries like this should eventually help patients with mood disorders drilling important that we find the circuits underlying mood. So that we can learn more about them and treat them with the tools that we're developing that are aimed at circuits tools like transplantion magnetic stimulation, which might someday be used to alter the specific brain circuit,
