"Baseball's foreign substance crackdown. Trevor Bauer, the Dodgers Garrett coal and You had Josh Donaldson, who started this Josh Donaldson, his former M V. P is any McLovin. I think so he was a sports jeopardy question when we played the sports jeopardy, all of us got it wrong. Yeah, he, uh, I think when the M v P when he was with the A's, if that sounds right. Well, he's with the Minnesota Twins, and he had this to say about pictures, putting a foreign substance on the ball. What these guys are doing and now or performance enhancing. To where it is. Actual like super blue type of ordeal. Where it's not about command anymore, because when you go look at Uh, areas that would show command walks or up. Hit by pitches are all time high on a pace. Is it coincidence that Gary Cole spin rate numbers went down yesterday after four mile release get suspended for 10 games? Is it, you know? Is that possible? I don't know. Maybe right. So that's Josh Donaldson calling out Garrett Coal. Garrett Cole yesterday at a press conference was asked some very direct questions, and he didn't give very direct answers. Have you ever used Spider Top one patient? Um, I don't. I don't know. I don't know if Don't know. Quite I don't quite know how to answer that. To be honest, um I mean, there are customs and practices that have been passed down from older players see not your players from the last generation of players to this generation of players in Um You know, I I think I think there are some things that are certainly out of bounds in that regard, and and it's stood pretty stood pretty firm and in terms of that In terms of the communication between our peers and whatnot. Um, you know, and again like I mentioned earlier. There's you know, this is important to a lot of people that love the game. And this is including including the players in this room, including fans, including, You Know teams, and so if he wants to You know, legislate some more stuff. That's a conversation that we can have, Um This, ultimately restoring pulling in the same direction of this Well, that clears that up, right? Um I don't. I don't know if he can just come out and say yes. Now, Spider attack is, um, what it is is it's just a a substance that's used by power lifters to give you better grip. And this is a gym in North Carolina, and they sell it online and pictures have been using foreign substances for a long time. Now there are hitters who will say And they will acknowledge that the application of a little bit of pine tar sunscreen was always a big one. You mix that with the, uh, the rosin and you know in a dry condition or cool conditions. The players want to make sure that they're not ducking out of the way of a fastball because you can't grip it. There is a gentleman's agreement on that. But as with any kind of advantage You get the advantage. And then how far do you go with that advantage? I get Barry Bonds it stopped at. I don't know. 51 home runs. You know when you go? Oh, my God. He's got 73 home runs. 55. Okay? I'm all right with that. It's sort of like the speed limit where you go. Okay? It's 55. I'm going to go 64. If I go, 77, that's bad..

"But let's start eighth avid Braves the Phillies the Mets the nets and the Marlins pulling up the rear the braver surprise last year. We mentioned this BT and FREDDY Freeman they're there, but they signed Josh Donaldson Dan's be Swanson finally coming along. And obviously they have so much young talent, including a kunia junior. Who got a lot of press last year? I liked the Braves the win division. I like Philly despite what the Mets have done this off season with Robbie who's paying off. I like Philly to come in second here because of the Bryce Harper boost and not not to mention the other guys that they brought in this off season. I like the Braves and the Phillies and the Mets to really compete in this division. Okay. I think there's gonna be a lot of fun. I think it's there's a lot of stars very vibrant fan base outside of Miami. Jeeter's gotta get that going. I've got the NATs. The Braves the Mets one-two-three Phillies. I had the Phillies fourth. But I think the Phillies will be eighty six six wins. I don't think you'll be bad. Obviously. I just think there's a little overrated what they could be Marlins going to be horrendous. Baby sixty something wins. You mentioned a kunia. I want to see a four year from trade Turner audience. A couple of steals today wants Soto first opening day and absolute Bs. You let that a name for the brains ran through the biggest ones NCR tastes good players. Well point gets on base could Ron could pick it in the outfield. So I think the least is really good nobody north of ninety three wins the NATs. Believable win the division at at ninety three. But it's gonna be a lot of fun. Looking forward to this division National League central cubs brewers cardinals pirates, and then the reds pulling up there rear. I really liked the cubs rotation. John lesser is older. You Darvish has got to get his stuff. Right. But you know, how he is Cole hamels as well in there. But it's it's their position players who were still young and controller. I love Swaroop because he was here. They won the championship. No. Immigrants, but Kris Bryant had a little bit of a down year last year. But he's too good to have that persist. So I like the cubs a pulled in his division. But then the brewers I was Christian yelich was an MVP candidate last year. And they have so much talent on that roster. I like the brewers coming in second here. You know? It's funny. You you like the cubs more than I do. I've got the cardinals winning this division against similar to the. I don't think anybody runs away with this. I don't have anybody at more than ninety three. I've got the redbirds at mighty three the brewers right behind it. But ninety two they've got a closer another ridiculous tweets from last year from Josh hater. But he's absolutely filthy. You got yelich who sick Travis shawls, doubles guy, home run guy. Travis a third baseman. I liked the brewers number two. I I just I'm not feel the cubs rotation as much as you are the name sound good. But they got a lot to prove. They just signed Karl Hendricks by the way to extension which I think is pretty smart because he doesn't live on philosophy. So he's good. But I've got the cups third. I think the reds are the reds are interesting. And a lot of new pieces. I'm happy for. Reds fans that place has been a graveyard for too long. It's a good ballpark. The great American ballpark in the EPA ballpark in Cincinnati. You know, it's not going to be the big red machine. But they're getting more competitive the pirates. I listen, I love you. I love fan base is that that hang in there for twenty one years. They didn't make the playoffs, but the pirates missed their window and the pirates are going backwards. They're kind of rebuilding the pirates south of seventy wins out. They're not going to be very good this year. National League West. This was easy for me. Dodgers take it again for the seventh year in a row, the Rockies, the Padres Diamondbacks and the giants the big story line here. Obviously six years in a row for the dodgers winning the the National League West. But last year, I took a hundred and sixty three games for them to win the division the Rockies, obviously, very good. I like the dodgers finally pulled or pulling through again in getting will determine this later getting back to the World Series. Don't give it away that a boy, I've got the dodgers as well. Number one. I think about it. I'll give the dodgers the c note. I wasn't going to give anybody in the NFL one hundred wins. But I'm going to get the dodgers right on the button one hundred wins. I've got the Rockies behind them. Eighty four wins Padres covered up the shoot not quite five hundred eighty and eighty two they're obviously making their moving their fans should be should be jazzed up for you know, what could be a little renaissance run here, and they could be good for a while they form systems. Incredible..

"The first time I took him to sawgrass on the fifteenth hole, basic I was playing so bad, and I hit a horrible iron shot from the middle to fairway and iron just same thing. I couldn't hit an iron you like what you were going through that. Again, we start. Yes. I was going through that. And at the top of the swing. I let go the club because I was so mad and it literally flew right over his head. It's hit him killed him. Today. Feeling. I'm looking at him. Like I and I said dude on the biggest blank blank in the whole world. I'm really and he was like outs close. And I still haven't heard back to you know, what's good. I'll tell you this quickly. So we can wrap up this podcast. One don't ever throw clubs on the golf course is dangerous. There's been stories about people actually getting killed do not broke loves the golf course. That's our. Parented advice for the week. Just don't do it. It's not worth it. It's not that important. I'll give you my quick temper tension before we wrap up this final. Call and say goodbye, I've never like thrown clubs at broken clubs. But I've been so heated because nothing was going my way. I actually I picked up the bond middle halls, and I'm done, and I actually quit about eight holes in and I literally sat there and watched people play for the rest of the time drink because I was so mad. All right. So that's my temper tantrum in Gulf now, we're gonna play the audio of this final call on caddies bath marry Gotti godfather here Columbia, South Carolina. Love what you're doing. With the podcast. I thought I may offer a couple of points unsolicited advice. I caddy your mother did not AP paddle. She piece of peel. I don't three pizza restaurants. That is the correct terminology. This is not offered today. Second I had a group of boy scouts in last week. I asked. Funches? And if they were lost in the woods, how they make it out of the woods. Every one of them said that they would use the compass. There was no mention of compass third caddy as someone who's stood next to you. And Michael Phelps? I don't imagine that that number ten. I imagine that four as Omer case letter b. Thanks love. What you guys are doing podcasts. Number one, never took us the spoon to get out of oven. Okay. And if you look at a wooden speech and peel peel peel pizza peel pizza peel, I think so. Yes. Yeah. Well, you know, what when his when it hits you in the behind. It's a paddle so call it what you want, but I've never seen a pizza get spanked before. All right. All right. That is to on number two. I never seen the letter you used in the spelling of compass. Okay. So you can call shoddy whatever you want. What is still spelled Sadie? Three. Over three if you get lost in the woods, and you need to find a way out fine water. No number three is Michael Phelps? I'm not holding his leg like a child. So that we look like the letter B Newark kind of my belt it would be two separate letters together. So if it was a B, we've looked like the shortening of pound or. Or we'd look like the lower case version of the word low. Okay. So. Look, the godfather fantastical, we appreciate the call hotline. We're gonna do this this week. We are going to Lissette a question to you the patron and call us on the hotline with your answer..

"And then the fact that he just took the plastic autumn clubs and went out with them and played pretty good. That's just an everyone. Who knows me knows like how Philly fan? I am. So I'm all the phillys eagles. Flyers Sixers amid right? Those are my teams the fact that Josh is playing on the Atlanta Braves. I'm gonna go up. I'm gonna take him up on his offer. And I'm going up there absolutely game. And I'm gonna be rooting for him in the Braves hard. The one thing I won't do is. I'm not going to go up when they play the Phillies. I don't think. Yeah. You probably should go to a game where they're playing someone that stinks like the Diamondbacks Marlins. You know what I love about? Donaldson is this is the dude that's used to hitting a moving fastball. Ninety eight miles an hour. So he laughed at the notion that this little white ball doesn't move and stays on T form. And and the fact that everybody gets quiet like he would be just he's the dude that wouldn't get shook at all if like someone was screaming and whatnot in the background. Or if every hole was like the sixteenth waste, man. Right. He would probably embrace it. He would shake his hair and be like, let's go. Here's the thing with him to like we we were talking to him. He was telling us. This is not during it wasn't during the interview was just on the driving range there are holes that he's like there. It's too. It's too short for me. Like I out drive. The whole I hit my three would too far. How is? Too far. If that's what people don't understand. He's not a large individual now. He's about what do you think? He's he's probably my height. Maybe. Yeah. And he's got might be thirty pounds. Heavier than years little. Yeah. It's got the muscle. Yeah. But he's not he's not one of those guys. He's not gonna make the body magazine the body issue. We should be in the body issue. Matting academy should be on the cover of ESPN the body issue. Don't tempt me. I'm you know, I think we should I will put my hairy Frodo body. Yeah. I'm gonna actual care. I'll Email management, right. And we're done recording. I'll say we've decided for charity that Mattie, and the, and you know, what you hear you know, it's going to be covering your stuff Gulf bag. No, you know, what I should be. What would be great is if I had one of those of bags of golf balls that you get at the driving range. If I had those give me to those, and I could block all the my stuff who of them to small bag. No come on. A little. But if I had to those I could we could block everything that that would be hilarious. And then I would use the cover of a driver. Yes. All right. So before we wrap up this week's episode probably much quicker than we should. You're genesis. Yes. Hiker makes his return. I will go on record again as I do every tournament that tiger tees up in I have zero expectations for him to win make the cut advance yourself from where you were in the the first tournament you're in this year. Look this is tournament tiger has played more than any other torn. Well, how do I say this in the correct way? He's never even contended to win here realistically. And this this tournament he's played the most without a win. So he's got more starts here. I think there was one time. Yeah. There's once where he had a chance potentially to win. And he didn't other than that tiger making the cut this week will be a win. And it's not only because of course, it's because of its his foundation that's running this whole thing. Yup. So he's doing so much foundation stuff. That his one hundred percent focus can't be on golf like yesterday with the celebrity Cup. Yeah. It was him and Fred Couples, which can I just tell you that was so much fun..

"And you don't know what it means? Look, that's that's coming. You've heard these dudes. You've heard the guys on the Astros talk about how valuable he was to them. Those are the like I don't I don't care like I don't give a shit. What? Either one of you think about it. I know what he means. Okay. What he's going to mean to these moving along. Before we move on. Close the book on Brian McKenna. I think that our feelings have been cemented in terms of Brian McCann. However, Josh Donaldson one year deal with the Atlanta Braves. What what is our confidence level that Josh Donaldson avoids injury next year because you look good with the Indian in when he was healthy. He's still I think is was close two thousand nine. Yeah. Yeah. He hits the deal again for sure, but I'm not saying that that's even that's not a knock on him per se. I think that could the way the way that that list is used these days, my friend that could be more of a preventative measure a cautionary move at some point in time during the season. I believe there's. Oh, planned off days. Guys guys running around out, you know, planned off days jer. So we might be able to. Planned off as for all bring a rain. Who knows? I think it's I'm optimistic on like a four win season for him. I think it's a good deal. That's very optimistic. That's an all-star caliber campaign. I think I think he's going to be very effective. I mean, I do think they talked about in the press conference Anthopoulos set are guys need to need to rest more like Freeman in Albee's all these guys played like every game or every game. But one so I do think I do think what you're saying about what you touched on about Camargo when maybe a preventative stint for Donaldson at some point. But I do think it's going to end up being a fruitful deal for the Braves consider John Donaldson a lucky guy that he's only had calf problems for the last few years. I've had them my entire life. No, you don't what the fact that. You don't have Cavs. That's the problem is that what you mean..

"Dave quick hausky is here with me as always table. What is the number of the highest paid free agent at the end of the winner at the end of the winner. Josh Donaldson was the highest paid guy going into free agency. He made twenty three million last year. He's not going to be twenty three million this year. No, he's not he might make twenty though you might make twenty might get lucky. We're going to give you a breakdown of everybody from the end of two thousand eighteen what their salary was the big time for agents, and we're going to try and give you our best guess of where they're going to end up. And there's some guys on the list are retired or contemplating retirement or are just trash and should retire. So we'll we'll sprinkle them in there too. We'll give you ideal spots of where we think these people are going to go round the contract numbers as well. You wanna start out with the big dogs? Yeah. Let's let's start out with to start out with the guy. We just mentioned Josh Donaldson. I think he ended up on a contender. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended right back up on Cleveland to be honest Cleveland. I'm for some reason, I'm kind of set on Saint Louis. You are. I Don I think there's lot of people are saying Louis right now, I think there's another third baseman shortstop backing to end up in Saint Louis. I think maybe even Houston could use your Josh Donaldson at that. They're gonna lose a Marlin Gonzales. They're gonna lose an extra utility type of guy someone to DA ch-, someone's always hurt and Houston, and and I could see him ended up there in a lost episode that we have infamously now. Frank tank mention Josh Donaldson is the perfect met is the perfect met. He's a to overpay Johnson could be serviceable somewhere. I don't think. So really? But if he gets healthy he could be serviceable for cheap number. But this is a typical Mets give them fifteen million dollars. You know, two year thirty million Calica. Jay, Bruce Essop has type deal where they completely blow up over a formerly good player. How many years how much money I'm going one for twenty go one between ten and fifteen. I think he just signed a one year not approve it deal by any means because he's still does have things left in the tank. It's more like an earned it deal. Basically, it is he earned it over the years. He'll hit home runs. I think I think he will. I don't know if he won't hit for average. But he might pop some home runs here and there and and be a good deal. I think he stays in the American League though. So cleveland. Yeah. We'll go. We'll go Cleveland. We'll go dark horse. We'll go. We'll go the Astros. I'm gonna go Saint Louis. Like, I said before the next guy on that list, though, definitely not retired. Now, it's it's only twenty six years old coming off a twenty one point seven to five million dollar arbitration deal. I believe it was the highest arbitration deal in history. It was right. I was going to stay. I'm sure Chris Brown is going to break it this year. But Bryce Harper hundred RBI's for the first time his career thirty four home runs didn't bat the best with average Batu forty nine turn that on late. Where's he going? How much is it? And is it going to break records? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's going to be three hundred. Plus, I think we know that that's yeah. It's not even a question. It's no remorse for Senate already. He he needs to get close to stand or better. It's it's more likely that he winds up closer to four than he does three because Stanton's was. What? Ten knows like fourteen right or ten or fourteen..

"And they can afford to do that where other teams don't want to do that don't feel comfortable doing that. So all those things factor into it. I think you got to be careful with it. But man, would he'd be fun to have here in Saint Louis be. I think people would love it, by the way. I just got a text of live update on Facebook our audience John Mosey, log on his way. Wow. There. It is. Okay. Officials east coming. So I I like to do a Facebook polls and Twitter polls, just to get a gauge. So we have I don't know hundred some odd people here tonight so cheer if you would like the cardinals to sign Bryce Harper. Let's just come up with an arbitrary deal of ten years three hundred fifty million. And then we'll get cheers. If you don't want that. So would you like to see the cardinal sign Bryce Harper ten years three hundred fifty million? Wow. Wow. Who who who would not like that? Okay. And now that I'd like to follow that. All right who would like to sign those contracts with your signature on it. And you have to pay it. Okay. All right. Okay. Tough thing to do. I'm legitimately surprised by that. I I'm not I think I would think it's like seventy five percent. I'm surprised that. It's me at all. Wow. That's something else. What about Manny Machado? Let's say that just for the sake of the argument ten years three hundred fifty million on Manny Machado. Yes. Applaud. Tepid Manny Machado. No. All right. So you want Harper Harper how Josh Donaldson? Do you not if you don't want? Josh donaldson. Now got a boo peek behind the behind the signs, I think Mike stock is. Yeah. So look at it in these terms to if they don't go out and get Harper. Remember this? And I think we'll see how much wants to go into this. But the cardinal's right now roughly have if you look at it. I'm not gonna go through every single name. But they have ten to twelve guys that are legitimate major league pitchers coming back next year of those ten to twelve I would say ten you could fit into a major league rotation. They can be as creative as they want to be in this offseason. And that's something to keep in mind. So they can get awfully creative with what they wanna do potentially coming up in this off season, which get make this a lot of fun going into the winter meetings. And that's something to keep in mind. I am so excited, and I hope our fans, and I hope you all get the chance to watch Alex race next year. I have compared him to the pitching version of a young Albert pools. That's how good this young man is. And unfortunately, we haven't seen it. We've seen little vide-. Glimpses of it. I saw Alex raise. In part of my job and duties with the Saint Louis cardinals as I do some of the production work for commercials and whatnot. When I get down to spring training, and this is before the minor leaguer show up. So it's in the back end of the facility. And that's the only space that we have to do some of the what they call green screens, and recordings and the various things there at that point five years ago. I guess it was roughly I met a young Alex race. And I said how you doing Alex? I had no idea with this guy was and he was glib. Very very bright. And I struck up a conversation and every year I've talked to him and visited with him, and as his is body matured, and I know idea who this guy was I later found out this is one of our top pitching prospects. And as he was going on. He was part of the cardinals what they call essentially for lack of a better term..

"Plus he was forty seven percent better than average the player. Right ahead of him was Bryce Harper who is forty nine percent. But if an average so he's not as youngest Bryce Harper, and he can't do those other things. But you're basically getting Bryce Harper's bat. If you add Nelson Cruz next year, he signed for four years in Seattle, and everyone Pandit they thought it would be an terrible contract and it worked out incredibly. Well, I think Nelson Cruz to Houston would be my fit. I've been advocating for Houston to add another monster power bat in their lineup for a couple years. Now, I wanted them to trade Giancarlo Stanton. I wanted them to trade for Bryce Harper that lasts offseason, and I want cruise to hit it toward the Crawford boxes. I think that would be that would be a spectacle. And it'll be hell of a thing. Even if Houston's ballpark isn't as hitter friendly as it seems just from looking at it like you Yuli gurriel was hitting cleanup for them in the playoffs. And he's not as good a hitter as as I think Houston thinks but also. He's not the guy you want protecting altuva and bregman and Korea if he's healthy again. So adding crews would just make you know, the top five of their lineup. Absolately incredible. Yup. Can't run D H only but five hundred slugging percentage or better each of the past six seasons at least thirty seven home runs each of the past five seasons his played in at least one hundred and forty four games each of the past five seasons. Would I give him I know another four year contract now. But are you better off spending a one year ten million on him then and then one year twenty million on Josh Donaldson? Maybe yeah, I think I think that makes a lot of sense. My guy is actually the person he might replace in the lineup Marlin Gonzales, we've seen positional flexibility be it's the Bill Endel now and a switch hitter who can defend every position pretty much except catcher in centerfield. Who's a league average hitter? I don't know that he's going to get half of. Of of what his his value as in terms of I in terms of salary and in terms of what he can open up elsewhere on the field. He's a fit just by nature of the fact that he can play anywhere for all all thirty teams. And you talked about gurriel hitting cleanup. You know? Marlin was the guy who was flying first base before gurriel cable he played left field. The you know, you might give way to to Kyle talker next year. He was played second base. When today was hurt. He played shortstop when Carlos Cray was hurt. You can do pretty much everything there is he is the epitome of the reliable veteran who you're going to get on the cheap. He's going to make a huge difference. And it's not going to be a huge splash. But like if the team that signs him makes the playoffs were going to get a bunch of stuff during the division series bad. How all the little things that he does. Well, he's kind of guy who every year in July when teams are making, you know, angling to make trades. They're two types of players. They want it. Good relief pitchers and guys like marijuana Gonzales, and Ben zobrist who can just fit in every. There. And he, you know, he's not old legs Obras as ruble, Cabrera is is gonna get interest because he can do about half the things that Morgan's ause does. So I think he's going to be a guy who is gonna make a big difference in probably fly under the radar, but hopefully signed before February. Oh boy. I mean, if only for our sake from an editorial standpoint, all right? So that feels like a good place to to end we'll be back next week to talk about more off-season topics probably have been Lindbergh back so until then thanks for for coming on and ranting with Zach. "Any on that list that you sit, you don't like, well, they also pointed out by the way, don't judge to early because at a time, David Wright, Ryan Braun and Troy till which he would have been no brainer hall of famers a look at them. They have Cole hamels Felix Hernandez, John Lester, David price. Interesting. Josh Donaldson, Daniel Murphy kluber and this one is really interesting. Justin Turner they say is has a satirical wine to maybe have a hall fame career that seems early. He's got the recognisability Turner outta he will come on, come on joining us. Now on the Dan Patrick show from NBC 'Send Mike Florio, Mike, right off the bat. I wanna get a topic. With you. There's a little off base here, but any reaction on your show to Dunkin donuts, which into just Dunkin how that play out this morning? Well, first, let me say this. That was a fascinating baseball conversation. Why don't you guys continue that? I'll hang up and not listen, Mike, you was the last time you watched a baseball game from start to finish. Never. I spend years. It's been so long. I can't remember. I don't think. Does anybody ever watching nine any game from start to finish? I mean, even if you're at the game, you really watch the game. If you're there, do you really pay attention? I watch tonight. Any game start to finish non-playoffs. I gotta roll with you there. I got. Got a all right. Poll question Pearl off. Give it to bike Loria. Okay. Which of the NFL do about the hit rule? Should they change the rule? Should they just quietly ease back on calling it as much or should they leave it as well? Here's the problem. They can't change it because the only way you can change rule this to have twenty four rooms in the confines of a meeting arranged by the NFL either. Folk to change it or not though to change, and so they have to do what they did last month. Remember when they had all the issues with the lowering the helmet foul and they, they had a competition committee conference call and they announced after that we are not changing the rule. And then the next set they said, how they're changing the rule. So I think something like that's going to happen here where the rule doesn't change, but they're gonna try to strike a better balance between protecting quarterbacks and getting away from this constant crush of criticism from coaches and players in media and fans, and I don't know how far they're going to push it the other way, you know what they're trying to do. They're trying to avoid the situation that they're going to have four times between weeks fiction week, ten with the forty Niners where CJ Beth Thurday starting a game in primetime instead of Jimmy Garoppolo now Garoppolo injured himself. But this is why the NFL is trying to protect quarterbacks. They don't want another era of rocks collarbone if they can avoid it, they don't want quarterback injuries that can be avoided. But now with all this criticism, I think are going to find a way to maybe push it back a little bit, and here's what you know what they did. With the catch ruled, they said, well, here's the catch is the trade have been catches. So let's change the war to make sure these will be catches in the future. I think they're going to look at the hits that that he thinks shouldn't have been roughing the passer and just the the emphasis, the enforcement, the interpretation. So those penalties in the future wouldn't be roughing the past. Mike. I know Aaron Rodgers obviously sells more than William Hayes, but how much concern for the league have about these defensive guys trying to do everything they can to land or quickly. So they don't land right on top of the quarterback and then there injuring themselves. And now they're out for the year going through a who surgery. I think the league would just look at it frankly, and shroud. I mean, plenty of times guys hit the ground. They stepped, they do something and there's a risk that when you do it, you're going to injure yourself what the league wants east guys to do when they're about to hit a quarterback is rolled into the ground tastes hit, Derek, Carr, the way that you know you typically see God who's gonna lay on top of the quarterback, hit him, and then almost like it hits, you realize, oh, wait, I'm going to get penalized if I land on him..

"Oh, right. And welcome back to the g. SMC sports podcast. Spent the first segment talk about Coloma traits ecocide talked about the college football games over the weekend. And now we move on and talk about the MLB. So the Indians obtained why ended up getting Josh Donaldson from the Blue Jays John, Josh Donaldson media. We put back on the deal after being traded to the Indians. That's a move. I like saw high risk or it's low risk, high reward type. The Indians without Josh Donaldson, still very good team in the team could make a deep run into the postseason. You get Josh Donaldson. Now we all know what kind of player he is or kind of player. He can be. Obviously, injuries played a big part in his season. This year hasn't really played much last time he played was in late, may. So I always gotta go through a few more rehab starts and all that. But if Donaldson ends up coming back healthy and can be go back to being the hitter that he used to be this Indian team is going to be dangerous. So I said, it's the perfect, low risk, high war type move there. Aaron judge swung back for the first time since his injury. I mean, he's just winging off the tee right now. I'd imagine that judge won't be back for another couple of weeks, at least. And like I said, there's no reason to rush the guy back. I mean, the Yankees are doing just fine right now. They're not winning the division. So I mean, bringing judge back would be pointless for that. And I think they're pretty comfortable with where they sit in the wildcard, current wildcard position. They gotta series going on with the a.'s right now. They're currently playing. Yankees are currently ones there. So like I said, there's no need to rush judge. And would you get that Aaron Boone suspended suspended for one game for going off at an empire about time, I've seen any fire from Aaron Boone. Since I mean the season starting at all. So nice to see him do that. Adam Wainwright league in return back to the cardinals September tenth or sometime around there. I mean, this cardinals team got hot at the right time could be getting back at a rain right at the right time. This could be a team. Dare I say it could be a World Series type team. They could get. I mean as soon as they fired, but Dany it was completely different. So we'll see what ends up happening with that. The Red Sox then really make too many moves as far as the waiver trade deadline or anything like that. I mean, the Yankees brought in mccutchen Cleveland brought in Donaldson. Red Sox seem pretty fine. They currently got. They're going to be calling Brandon Phillips old man, Brandon Phillips. He's not gonna get too much playing time as they can. Like. I mean, they're really got Kinzler. You got divers coming back. The Warno Nunez apply while Bogart's who stuck that shortstop Moreland and see pairs of play. First, Philips probably isn't gonna get too much playing time with Boston, but going to be a good locker room presence when they hit the post season could be a guy who I mean, obviously the do is blast as long name will be for reason, could contribute some bats when it comes to the playoffs. But we'll see. So there's that any other news we need to talk about before we get into scores from yesterday and talk about the game's going on today. I think it's pretty much like I said the as and and Yankees currently playing in a series believe it's a three-game series. Let me double check that just in case. So we got Wednesday still to play. And this is a big series for the as one that I'd say, obviously they need to win, but a sweep would help big time considering they sweep. They're right there with the Yankees as far as that top wildcard spot. So we had three game series. Let me double check how far off the as are currently from the Yankees for that top wildcard spot and anything we can pretty much right off the Mariners as far as being team could make the playoffs right now the as our four and a half games back, they come away with three games, sweep only game at half back of that top wildcard spot. Plus,.

"Some some there will before folks saying, oh, yeah, for sure. Before we resume this segment that we're doing here a report, the latest on Josh Donaldson friend of the program, the Blue Jays hope to trade Josh Donaldson before the end of the month, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of the athlete, Donaldson will reportedly go on revoke Qabail trade waivers tomorrow, which is Thursday. So I mean, it's actually today if you're listening today, if you're listening on drop day, just went on weight when on waivers, trying to think of some teams that might need a rental, either baseman maybe have like a third baseman. That's been on the disabled list like three times and just not not dependable, maybe need some guys that can just be injected into a winning environment and maybe eat too much fucking ice cream. Yeah. Wow, I don't see that happening. You think that's, I mean, maybe I'm just trying to see if there's a fit trying to will that out there trying to see if there's a fit. That's all. I don't know. Alley. I don't know if you can handle that JD. That's a lot of star power to JD's. Is there room for two JD's in Boston? I'm sure there might be couple MVP winters. I mean, you think about the about adding a JD right now to that lineup. I don't wanna see. That wouldn't be. Don't wanna see that at all. Yeah. Jose Ramirez currently on pace for forty six home runs and thirty five stolen bases. Will he become the second player in major league baseball history to reach forty five home runs and thirty five stolen bases in a single season Soriano in two thousand six. The first to do it. This is. I'm going to say no. Jay. Well, I mean, well, let me just be totally objective here and say that he most definitely will easily hit both of those marks. I'm looking at fifty fifty as as the kind of bench for what we're going for here getting. But I do think you will hit that in large part because I think every time I have wondered about what Jose Ramirez ceiling is he has exceeded and I am no longer going to be the person who says this is Jose. Ramirez peak or Jose Ramirez is not going to do this because he always fucking does it. So I'm going to say yes, he gets the forty five thirty five and I'm very interested to see where he finishes in the AL MVP race. I want him to be forty forty. I want him. I need Jose. Forty. I need Jose Ramirez to forty forty. I think I don't think he'll get it by because I think because look, what are they up? Fourteen fifteen up half a fucking, but they're, they're, they got a two week lead in the puck division. So there. They're totally fine. And that is why I think that we're not gonna see him run. They're not gonna. They're not going to deploy him in that manner. They're going to let him rest. All right. And we'll see that game will see those tools put to use. Come come postseason time. That's when we'll see Joe ram star breaking that shit out, but I would love love, love love to see that be thing for him. Forty homers forty bags. Yes. I would love to see one of those. I would love to see one of those stolen bases be the one that takes the Indians from ninety nine point nine percent in the playoffs to one zero zero. Keep it going has ever rest on your laurels. Here we go see, don't push push lock it up. That's right. I don't think he's gonna get there. I think he'll get the forty five homers do not think that he'll get the thirty five bags. Sorry. That sound feel sorry for you? Sorry, Jacob degrom will he become the first pitcher since Sam Weaver in eighteen seventy eight to register at least nine wins above replacement while winning twelve or fewer games? He's currently. Seven point four war with eight wins. We'll swing and Sammy Weaver, everyone remembers him. Yeah. Dream Weaver? Yes, yes, yes. Let a bit of a drinking problem. Small circles. What what the fuck is the question here? Does he needs? It's very pointed question. Jesus Christ. Ridiculous him. Well, listen, it was very specific. I was trying to find a way to link Jacob degrom lack of wins with his overall production without doing the are a. 'cause it's tough to be on pace for any are a, but..
