"Things that they have done and as you know and Tim and I talk about all the time buck showalter and other managers will tell you just because we made a move and it worked doesn't mean that it's always the right move just because we made a move and it didn't work doesn't mean that over time it was the wrong move. Yep, now I completely agree with you. I do want you to play to put you in the role of Aaron Boone in terms of some of these choices because I was thinking about this last night, putting Bader in it, lead off spot for a time being a labor Torres, you know, move there, changing at it, shortstops. They've had now three, three short stops in their last three games. I thought about this last night and you're right. You make a change because you're trying to put yourself in a better position. If I were in bony shoes, I would hit Anthony Rizzo lead off. We saw that with the cubs, there's comfort level there. I think he stresses opposing pitchers at the start of games. I would lead off Anthony Rizzo, believing that, you know, he's got a chance to kickstart the offense. I feel good enough about Giancarlo Stanton that I feel like at this point he's good protection for Aaron judge. So I'd hit judge two at its standard three and then at that point, you could go Bader, you could hit him, clean up, put him in that spot because he's going well enough that, you know, maybe he represents and protection for Stanton. How would you if you were boonie, what would you do at the top of the Yankees lineup? No, it's interesting. I mean, I thought about their construct, you know, it's weird. I think I'm living in the moment, as opposed to all of the information they have. I've been so impressed with Cabrera, but I think Cabrera because he's so young. He's still at the position where he can get exposed by really good pitching. But eventually, I see, I see that guy as a top of the order type guy. I love the Rizzo thing because of his experience. Obviously, he gets hit by pitches a lot. He gets on base. The only concern I would have, and I don't know where you would you would slide Cabrera into that mix is your very right handed from two through four and I don't even know where you go with 5 if you're going to use, you know, Josh Donaldson, I don't know, I don't know where you go at 5. Again, I just look at, you know, positioned by position, the lineup depth. Look at what Jeremy Pena has become this year, and then you kind of look at where the Yankees are with the development of their guys. We've heard about peraza shortstop in the future. Paying you just literally stepped in and while he wasn't Carlos Correa. Good guy, he was good. I mean, he was, he was better than you could have imagined. And look where he gets in that Houston lineup. Like the Yankees don't have that answer as a young player goes. And this is where I just think, you know, the scale chips to Houston just in terms of who's the better team. Sure, I love Rizzo then. You get very right handed after that, but they were right handed lineup anyway. So sure, that makes sense. The weird part about Bader is because of what he's done with his homers. It feels like he's a, he's a home run hitter, and I think there's more to Harrison Bader than just being a home runner. I hope he doesn't become a 32 home run guy and it strikes out a lot. I knew and I felt when they made the move for Vader eventually New York is going to love his personality. His ability to field and his ability to just cause problems on the basis and get on base. But sure, I can absolutely see Rizzo leading off for them. You know, just thinking about it. So the way I'd go the rest of the way and go Bader clean up, I'd go Cabrera at 5. Donaldson 6, I like the fact that I understand Matt Carpenter has not looked good, you know? I mean, you could just the fact that he hasn't seen that many breaking balls as manifested. I'd hit him 7, catcher 8, then I'd hit peraza at night. For me, he's playing shortstop for me the rest of this postseason, Noah, and no matter how it goes based on what I saw yesterday. What do you think? Oh, a 100%. Look, I mean, I thought Cabrera was an upgrade. Look, I'm not, I think, kind of pale was a terrific Fielder. At some point, you have to take into consideration the number of mistakes that are being made as few as they are, the margin for error is zero. We can't make one. You know, that's where you live when you're in the postseason against really good teams. So I thought Cabrera was, I like that change. Let alone for us, sure. For us as a shortstop, for us is like watching a young disability to feel. He's got some special. You know, he has whatever boonie said, I like the way he moves. It's quite clear. He can do things at that position. You know, that few others can. Now, what are the bad ever arrives? But you've got to prevent runs as much as you've got to score them at as you said. That lineup should be able to score plenty of runs whether we're getting production from the 9 spot or not. It should. You're just dealing with really good pitching, but I agree with you. Peraza and Cabrera for me should play. They need to be in that lineup. And look, if we lose with them, that's it, but I'm already there's a part of me that looks ahead to 23 and says, yep, Cabrera got to be there for Raza. Has to be there. Vader every day, who knows what's going to happen in right field. But yeah, those are those are free young foundational pieces for me moving forward. And I like that direction versus this complete dependence on the home run ball, the high percentage of runs scored by the home run. You and I are on the same page in this regard, you know, this is about what we've seen so far in this series is so much about how great the Astros are. And I personally would be shocked if this series goes back to Houston because I think the Astros are clearly not only the class of the American League, but right now they're the best team standing. And no doubt about that up and down. The Padres and the Phillies are tied one all, going into today's game. What are you seeing in that series? You know, I'm seeing that the Phillies did what they needed to do by going on the road and winning one game. I think John smoltz observation about Juan Soto early in game two is akin to the observations that you and I are discussing with regards to the Astros and the Yankees and I believe the Yankees will break out in game three when they're home. He said early game two after Soto lost the ball in the sun. I just feel like he's going to get a big hit. I mean, I don't think he's standing in the obvious because sono hasn't looked great, but it's rooted in the reality that one so does a damn good player and he is shined on the biggest stage. All that being said, I think the Phillies are that's a push series to me. Having just seen the Phillies and done their division series on the radio, you get back in that environment and look, Bryce Harper is offensively Bryce Harper again. I mean, he is, he's an animal. That's one of the, that's a top 5 player in baseball. That is long Soto. Offensively. So they have that guy. I think Philadelphia has just got something about him this year. I think the emergence and the consistency of Dominguez and alvarado makes them really, really just dangerous when they got a lead and that wasn't the case all year. So my observation is this is a toss up series and I would give a slight edge to the Phillies and again on acknowledging it could be recency bias because I just saw them and I was really impressed. You know, when we all go cover spring training camps, you leave the majority of spring training camps saying that team is way better than I thought they are going to be really good. And over the course of one 62, you realize that stuff sticks for less than less than a quarter of the teams you observe and I'm acknowledging I just saw real mutos athleticism. I just saw the bullpen, I certainly just witnessed Wheeler and nola, I've seen the energy in that crowd. I would lean a little George Julia.

"Early in New York. And at that point, they've been staving off panic in New York for a little while now guys. They've been trying to tell themselves everything's gonna be okay. Everything's gonna be fine and they needed a walk off Grand Slam from Josh Donaldson the night before and now the Yankees can't get to Jose barrios who entered the game with a 5.61 ERA. Howard Bryant is going to talk a lot about Yankees panic. Are you guys panicking yet? Or are you Taylor wearing your Orioles cap right now sitting there and doing the Montgomery burns hands together? I'm definitely panicked for the Yankees fans. I know the Yankees fans started panicking weeks ago, but you know, it is fun to watch them collapse. This was a tricky situation 'cause you know I don't want the Blue Jays to build the gap on the world anymore. So tough to know who to root for in this one, but I do like seeing the Yankees fans squirm in the wind. Aaron Boone, not squirming yet. Worried about the lead in the division because he had such a big lead. No, this is about us playing well. If we play well, that takes care of itself. You know, obviously, we haven't played well enough in the last ten days. So I think it's more just a rough patch of us not playing well. We have to play better. But I'll sit there and think about this lead or it's about us handling our business. If we do that and play the game we're capable of playing the rest of the way, we'll be in good shape, but we got to do that. I call the area on my face where facial hair doesn't grow, the rough patch, I do not call what the Yankees have been doing for the last month and a half, by the way. Not ten days, this is going back like a month and a half, a rough patch. This is, this is a team that has flaws and those flaws have been exposed and Giancarlo Stanton can not get back soon enough. Lest we spend too much time on the Yankees, I live in the Midwest. I want to represent Midwest baseball and there's nobody right now guys representing baseball in the Midwest better than another 40 something year old man Albert Pujols who on Thursday did this. 6

"josh donaldson" Discussed on Big Time Baseball

"Week here from Major League Baseball, a new week of games, a new slate of opponents, and we just got through with an incredible weekend of Major League Baseball. Welcome to big time baseball here on Odyssey sports. I'm Cody decker, former professional baseball player turned professional smart ass on the radio and with me. The legendary, the one and only you see them on MLB network and of course you can read his work on the New York Post. He is John Heyman. John, it is so good to be back here with you because we just had an incredible week in a Major League Baseball specifically a great series and a controversial series over there in The Bronx. How was everything taking place over there in New York between the Yankees and the White Sox specifically from your perspective? Yeah, Cody, it's great to be with you. Yeah, I mean, obviously, for one, the White Sox looked like they may be turning the corner, which we've been waiting for. We expect them to win the division, but we know that the big controversy with Donaldson and Tim Anderson arose and we will see what happens here, but we can't be surprised if suspended has not been suspended as of this moment, but obviously what he at least for me it was inappropriate what he said, you know, I think on Twitter I said it was dumb and the White Sox thought it was worse than that and of course people were screaming at me from both angles, but particularly the White Sox side saying of course it's racist what he said. You know, to me, it was a little bit murky, you know? I mean, you know, it wasn't the right thing to say. They're not friends. You shouldn't have said it. It was wrong. You know, I'm not going to read somebody's mind. Unless it's obviously racist. I'm not going to go there, but it was obviously not at least in my mind. Obviously, not the right thing to say. And, you know, you shouldn't have said it, and he's probably going to get suspended. At some point here this week. Yeah, my mind's a little blown that he said. You even heard it in the postgame interview, grand Dahl was even saying, yeah, obviously he's going to, he's going to deny that he ever said this, but he didn't. He absolutely said he did. And he tried to claim it was an inside joke. And again, like you said, I can't tell you what's in somebody's heart, but I do know for a fact I have no inside jokes with people I do not get along with. I can't stress that enough. Well, you know, some people are just a little odd that way. They think they're friendly with someone, but that's why I'm giving them somewhat of a benefit of the doubt, although not much, some people think they're Friends with everybody, and just don't understand that they're not. I don't know why you would think that though. I mean, they had a little dust up earlier already this year. Literally a week ago. Earlier, I don't mean that much earlier. You're right. So it did seem like he was mocking him in some way, but you know, the fact that Tim Anderson said in Sports Illustrated that he feels like Jackie Robinson sometimes, there's something along those lines, you know, maybe he was just mocking him 'cause he's not Jackie Robinson in terms of a player. I don't know. You know, I don't want to guess. But it wasn't right. Certainly I understand Tim Anderson's reaction, the White Sox reaction. I get that. I don't blame them at all. Anderson should not have been booed. This has not been a good start for Yankee fans between the garbage being thrown at the Indians outfielders and now this, I mean, you know, I'd say stay out of it if you're Yankee fan, you know, I mean, the White Sox fans want to boo Josh Donaldson and then I get there's nothing to boo for Tim Anderson. No, and Tim Anderson one of the most exciting players in baseball. In fact, I immediately told everybody after Saturday, just because not only does Tim Anderson play like a superstar every day, but he plays like a superstar and then some when the lights are on. So I knew for a fact Sunday Night baseball. Tim Anderson was going to do something spectacular and like always he did huge three run home run in the bottom of the 8th. Hey, it was a double header yesterday and you saw the White Sox take sweep the double header. They were completely heavy underdogs in both games. I don't know, John, I feel like yesterday is going to be a date that we're going to be pointing at. May 21st, that was the day that the White Sox in 2022 got right. Well, we've been waiting for it, and maybe it's going to be the pitching. I mean, obviously, we like their pitching. But we love their hitting and they're hitting just has not been there. Obviously, Jimenez is out. They've had injuries in other parts of that lineup, but look, rondal, and Abreu, two of the better hitters at their position in the league. I've just not really hit so far this year. You know, they're not providing the offense that they normally do and right now you've got Minnesota still playing well and exciting team, very good team from a positional standpoint to pitching better than anyone thought to still holding on the lead, but, you know, the white section of the favorite, once they get Lin back, once they get everybody back, on paper they should have the best team and I still expect them to win this division. And plus, guys like Dylan cease, who I have dubbed the strikeout prop king of all of the world. And of course, Lucas giolito, you know what you're going to be getting out of him. Lance Lin still out with the knee injury. He's looking to come back. Hopefully early June, which is a obviously a point that they're going to need him. And Dallas keuchel, you know, I know, I know everybody in Chicago has been all over him for not being the old Dallas keuchel in Houston, but these last four games he's done a decent job for the role he's been in, holding teams to three, four runs, which is kind of what you want from your four or 5 starter, granted, he's not paid like a four or 5 star. But it's definitely, it's definitely encouraging for the White Sox. They're currently four games behind Minnesota as we currently speak. But hey, Minnesota has gotten some injuries as well. You know, how are the twins going to handle buxton going forward? Because if that team say loses Correa and buxton, we're looking at an entirely different American League central. Right, obviously buxton, Wendy's playing is one of the best players in the game. He's kind of like the Grom of the position players. If he's on the field, he's spectacular, but too frequently injuries have kept him off the field. You know, I think they have to be careful with them. I think they will be careful. You know, the H at some point to do different things, give them days off. I mean, obviously had an injury history and you need to have him. I mean, if they're really going to have any chance, they need to have buxton playing. I don't think there's any question about that. I mean, you mentioned these guys with a White Sox. You know, I mean, Keiko's been up and down, but these other guys cease has been fantastic. He's pitching like an all star co pack looks like he's going to be that guy that people thought he was going to be when everyone was marveling at.

"Dick aka take it and take all that information and win. That's what i would feel. So i i see blue. Jays fans are upset but it is not cheating is cheating and saying this as a blue jays fan. It sucks i. I wish it didn't happen. I wish it didn't accidentally pop out. I wish they got it back sooner but the brakes are deal with it. Play better josh donaldson. Play better on that note of play better. I think our friend. Aj andrews said this the best already on twitter exa- she was talking about. Kevin care myers post game interview and all it was it intentional. It was a week move. I thought why can't meyer basically says right. Oh i say going over six while knowing exactly how the blue jays are gonna pitch. You is a pretty weak move. Maybe they didn't actually look at the car a little bit to drop. That was the fake actually. But no you guys. Basically summed it up. How joe subtle summed up yesterday obligate central. He said it's not cheating. Cheating would be going over into the blue jays dugout behind their backs and taking a binder straight from their dugout. That's their property in there. If you drop it on the floor anywhere you drop a twenty dollar bill out a bar you walk away and forget about it if i see it down there. I'm like yeah fuck free. Beer me twenty bucks. There's nobody here to claim it. All the hundred kirk wasn't there to claim claiming he wasn't there to say. Hey let's mine he did realize later and yeah. I mean you didn't get back. Should they have given it back then. Probably a not been decks about it and said oh we robbie ray yeah. I don't think it's cheating. I think probably say maybe about sixty percent of bluejays. Twitter feels that way whereas forty percent think is cheating in that. Kevin kerr sucks. He does suck lately as a baseball player. But it's fair game in my mind. I don't see anything wrong with it. It sucked into your point atom. It does maybe cross the line a little bits on ethical. There's no written rules in the books that you can't take a piece of information that's accidentally dropped onto the floor or at home plate so is what it is so that happened. The blue jays ended up winning their game. We touched at the top. It was very stressful. And that set them up for the one sear for the one win in series that we kind of expected the get usually when they go into the trump. he probably lose two to three. And you win. One and last night's win solidified that they would not leave. Tropicana field more than half a game down. If the yankees are successful in winning tonight so the blue jays hung opportunity today afternoon with a bullpen day. Julian meriweather as an opener and ross stripling coming in as a guy to win the series like they typically tend to do at tropicana field and very rarely ended up winning it except for earlier this year but still then a chance to win it. They could've finished the series the season series nine and ten which would have been very respectable. They would've actually had a winning record. As other winning record of five hundred record at the trump they won today which would have been a pretty big accomplishment to say the least given that it's a house of horrors but everything went completely wrong roster. Blink didn't pitch well. julie. Mary whether didn't pitch. Well the bullpen. Cata stabilize a little bit. But the offense didn't do anything against the race pitching on..

"I did go with a stati one. Because it illustrates a thing to me. That i just really love about him so using the fan split stool. I looked at my trout's wrc plus every month since he became a bigly regular. So we're we're saying cited twenty eleven forty odd plate appearances. He got that every month since he has become a regular. He has one month where he is below league average by wrc plus and he had a ninety nine w was in that month in august of twenty five ninety nine w. r. c. Plus that is the only month in since you became a big league regular where he was below league average and to follow it up and this to me is such a mike trout thing his september october. Wrc plus in two thousand fifteen one ninety one because the guy when he's down he comes back and he figures out how to do stuff better the next year. He can't hit the high fastball. He figures out how to hit a fastball. He feels like his defense is lagging. He sorts that out. I just i appreciate that. A person who is who was obviously like pattern gifted at this specific thing that he happens to have the amalgamation of skills native skills to do this weird thing that we have constructed super. Well it's also a guy who like is still in school right. He's still doing school. He's not getting stuff quite the way he wants. And his worst many big leaguers would love it if their worst big-league month less than ninety nine. Wrc plus there's some big leaguers. that'd be a great month for me so as i call. I think he was hurt i. He was playing through an injury like dove to make a catch and he hurt his wrist or something and it was bothering him. It was sore. So there's a reason why the one time he was not great. it's not just a slump. It's he was hurt so yeah basically he ever slumps is just the most consistent when he is healthy and when he's on the field and i don't wanna take anyone else's pick but the thing that occurs to me along these lines is is just that you know. He has been so consistent on a a seasonal level to at least when it comes to the war so that it seems like every year there's a new challenger in if i'm still in someone's pick your just the i will stop but it seems like a number of times you're not yes this would not actually people take but it is something i like about him which is just that like we've had the is. This guy is good as trout. Now is there a new player. Who's the best in baseball and obviously like there's legitimate reason to have that now because he's not playing but when he was playing even this year he was clearly the best player in baseball and so many other contenders to for the crown. Have come and gone. Whether it's bedser yellow or josh donaldson or whoever like there have been so many guys who may be matched trout for a year or two but just haven't been able to stay at that level so it's incredible consistency for someone who has such a high level at all times. I was gonna add like i do hope that we basically ends up being lebron type thing where we're so desperate to give someone else and then he's gonna have like twelve hundred psi in september and we'll be like what are we doing what we're doing people. Let's let's be realistic. So i think i will take something that is sort of similar to jordan sits in the genre of we underestimated make trout. Except it's even closer to his transition into the best player in the world. which is that entering. The two thousand twelve season was rated as the third best aspect in baseball. I love this pick by baseball. Prospectus by baseball america and by mlb dot com. All of them had either matt moore. I and bryce harper second or bryce harper. I and matt moore second and this was after mike. Trout had made the majors. This was after he had been in the minors for a few years. Like everyone had gotten a great look at trout. He who's not an unknown. He was not the kid who is playing high school baseball in new jersey like scouts at seen him and everyone liked him he was super highly rated. The projection systems really liked him. And suggested that you might be the best player right away but no one got anywhere close to how great he was almost immediately and i say almost just because he was sick in the spring rate and he lost some weight and he didn't actually get called up in two thousand twelve until like late april and basically from day one. He was the best player in baseball and has continued to be ever since. And so the fact that smart prospect people kinda missed like that close to his breakout. Like i don't want to denigrate anyone's scouting skills. They're all better than mine. And it's easy to miss but to me the fact that he was drafted twenty fifth overall. Like that's a great one but there have been a lot of draft. Mrs and you know he was in high school and he was far away and he wasn't facing great competition. Everything was called that spring. Yeah right didn't he. Was still a a few years away from from being superman so that to me is like more explicable than the fact that on the eve of his immediately become the best player baseball he was still seen as like a very good prospect but not the best prospect ever basically and that just boggles my mind because We thought he was gonna be good but right up until he was the best. We seriously underestimated him. I think it's still too early. I think it's really important to prospect. There's a chance matt moore has another gear did you. Did you see what he did in japan last don't want i don't wanna lock that in. Yeah okay that's true. Let's let's listen. plays out then. I i mean you're right more could easily accrues seventy five to. Oh that's true. That's a good point. Yeah we've been turned thirty yet so he has a long way ahead of him. But so it's not like bryce harper was a bust or something like it's not like like harper's a hollow favor to so i'm not saying that like him being the number one or two prospect in a typical year like of course he would be more. Okay maybe that's more of a mis- just because pitchers are tough to project..

"They're not going to be around and the other thing. They have to get rid of his the three inning or the three batteries for the pictures. Yeah i don't hear people complaining about that as much and also the shift they're gonna look into eliminating shifts all the people out there that problems with that the look into all of those things but next year there's gonna be a work stoppage so none of it matters right. It doesn't it Expire after this year. The cbi so there'll be a work stoppage strike and we'll talk about that and people hate baseball and take a major. You know it's amazing. I just walked my word. I don't think people like francisco endure garrett cole. You only way it's a work. Stoppage is if the owner stop it. I i don't see the players striking. I can say that i do not see the players striking. There's hey hey each other. I i understand that but the players also hate each other as as evidenced by getting the spider attack them. Yeah josh donaldson of the world's shore. I wonder if he's available. I do they is. I believe is available..

"The freaking waiver wire with, like Brian Goodwin and Jake Lamb and Billy Hamilton. So it's been fun to watch. And I think the Russo is basically saying, Hey, Adami, and you've stunk so far this year, it's time to step up and and show why we acquired you and and to the point that you just brought up Chuck about Gavin sheets. He unlike the other guys, He's a former second round pick. It's only three games. I get it, but he just looks the part. He looks like a kid. Oh, kid had yes. So the thing with Gavin has always been he can hit. He can draw walks. He's six ft. 5 200 something pounds. Where's the power? The power just wasn't showing up. And when you are six, ft five you play for a space and you do not hit for power. You don't exactly Fly through the minor leagues. It was and it's funny, the pandemic just mess things up. I think if I get this in my head correctly, I think it was two years ago. I think it was in Birmingham. He started showing some power. And the pandemic happens and there's really nowhere really for him to go. He played in the alternate site, but now he's they always said when he wasn't having the power that it was going to come. It was going to come Would rather have the power and, uh, I would rather have no power and plate discipline for a guy this size, then a guy the size power, No plate discipline. So now he's got the power. We will see. I can tell you that Frank Thomas and eyes again who know a lot more about hitting than I do. We're very impressed with his swing. He can go the opposite way. Uh, if he starts pulling the ball up here Oh, my goodness. So let's see what happens here with Gavin Sheets. You know, today tends to be a day when you mentioned Mercedes to look and Oh, look, the league adjusted. Um he was adjusting back a little bit. That Oh, Mercedeses down. He got cool. I think What we need to do today is sort of. If you're a Sox fan appreciate him because at the beginning of the season when you didn't know how the team would respond without two of its best players and a break you not getting off to a fast star that for a while, there he carried you And I think it's important here when you look back on the season in the success, Sure, the pitching but also I think a lot of Sox fans the tip of the cap to your mean Mercedes. If Mercedes didn't do what he did. I'm not sure this act will be in the first place right now. Or maybe they're tied or a game up on the Indians. I mean, he helped them win several games. And I think if Moncada hadn't gotten hurt, he'd still be here. He doesn't have a lot of position, versatility, and Han told Mercedes LaRussa told Mercedes you'll be back and he's going to be back. This is a question of when he was starting to come out of his slump. Um, but you know, this is a teams trying to win a division not develop players. This is this is win now Mode and so he just got squeezed. It was a roster squeeze situation with Mercedes. He will be back, and I'd like to Think that when he comes back, he'll have a lot more of that confidence at the plate that we saw in April because it was lacking a little bit. It was starting to come back, but I mean, I did. What I love about this team is just decides the fact that they're in first place. And they're fun to watch. There's so many stories, the stories all around the diamond, and he certainly one of them looking back on the sweep of the of the twins. What you make of the Josh Donaldson comments towards Lucas Giolito and all that took place there. Alrighty. So here we go. Um, how long we got, uh, as long as you need to give it to us. What did Ozzie say behind the scenes? That's really what I'm trying to get out. What did Ozzie say behind the scenes? So he was the guy? What he says is so funny. You know, Ozzy is his old school and after there's so many layers to this story, so it's like, uh, his old school. He didn't I don't wanna speak for Ozzy. I'll speak for me. Um, the thing that got me with Donaldson was he just called out He didn't call out Lucas Giolito. He called out every single pitcher in Major League baseball, including his entire pitching staff. Because we don't know exactly who's doing it. But enough pictures are doing it. He was using the foreign substances that you know in the same game. You had Kenta Maeda, who seemed to be really struggling with his grip and with his location and control. So that was not the right move. And I also want to give a shout out and thank you. To Josh Donaldson. Because you know what he did He try to wake up his Twins team. He woke up the White Sox because the White Sox were struggling offensively for about a week. Eight days. They scored. 28 runs in three games after Donaldson did that, and what that showed me was. Who's got the better will more talented team but also who's got the more United team? What team is going to know when things Could go South are going to take this thing north, and when things go south will go further South and further south. That's what's going out with the twins. The White Sox. What do they do? They sweep them to get behind Lucas Giolito. I can tell you that this confrontation that Donaldson said happened in the parking lot after the game was not exactly how Downton described it. In fact, I think some of the twins players were telling him to get back on the bus after he was having this conversation with Lucas. I like Josh's. Allison is a player. I've said in the past. I'd love for the White Sox to sign him, but he can be a little too much. And when a team is going good, and you got too much, Josh Johnson, that's great. Things are not going good. And you got too much. Josh Johnson. That's the problem. So what happened then? I mean, they were saying, Get on the bus. What do you hear happened? I don't know what happened. I just heard that they told him to get back on the bus. Okay? And I think this happened to Josh Donaldson wanted to say something and maybe confront Lucas Giolito. And then he stood up to Lucas Giolito and saw six ft. 6 260. On mountain of a man who realized, you know, maybe I shouldn't confront him. I needed maybe Not be as my thoughts and feelings about this confrontation. I might have to back off a little bit. Might. That might be a better thing to do? Total papo of what he said he did, then? Yeah. I mean, I want to say Tola Po, but he made, he told a story That is not the fault. Was told he did not tell the full story. I was not there, but I was told he did not tell the full story of what happened. Okay. Last question for you last at at dinner. I was dining, believe it or not, with the Sox fan. And I made a bet about grand all making the All Star game, he says. Grandal will make the All Star game I said no. Now that he's not starting And we bet a good bottle of booze. So what do you think? Well, I mean, I have not looked at the competition fully to know who he's up against. Do you know off the top of your life? I think Gary Sanchez has an opportunity. But I mean, you know what Gary Sanchez won't be there over grand dollars. I mean, I know he's got all the home runs in a high on base..

"Roster. He makes them the second seed in basketball. Are you kidding me? So he and Devin Booker have done this Chris Paul has done is Amani Williams has been incredible to partner with somebody like that, because he coached him when he was young, a young assistant coach in the league a new Christmas Chris like 20. 1920 So you know, I'm rooting for those guys. I have no idea what's going to happen tonight. I'm on pins and needles like I would be, Matthew said to me about six months ago, he said, Dad, You mean for the sun's harder than you root for the Bulls. And I said, not harder but as hard and these bulls aren't at that point yet these sons and I could see this from Chris got there after these sons are going to be at that point where I'm that invested. So I am. So I'm not going to sit here and act like I'm detached and I'll give you some objective analysis. I can't I won't. I'm hoping that they win tonight. And I think a lot of things are going in the Clippers favor a lot of a lot of things. According Clippers, this is a fascinating series. And I know people here may not be paying attention to a series between Phoenix and Ella, although my god with the number of Chicago and living in Arizona I mean, there's so many people wearing Bulls jersey At the Sun's game, and they've moved out there and the roof of the sons now, But they're Chicago because the desert is just full of people from here and cheeseheads and islands in Minnesota in That's what the desert is, Um and all those people a lot of lot of those people. He said he caught up with him in the parking lot yesterday after the press conference and said I'm here in your face. Now. Now what? He said. Giolito said nothing. He went after eyes again. "CBS sports radio. We can make this pretty simple I would imagine, But we do have to address this. I I do not view that viral video. Of Jacob the Graham as any sort of evidence or gotcha matter of fact, that's actually And Repulses probably too strong for word, but it's it is, it is reflective of society. I just think that Too many people. Um oh, almost Are resistant. To such a level of greatness. That they are inclined or they want to challenge the authenticity of the achievement. Because somewhere It's that that that that is derived from jealousy like I interesting. You know what I mean? Like, I don't I don't think you saw the video. Yeah. I mean, for those who missed that I'll give you He went through his belt for a second. It looked like he was pulling his pants up because he's pretty. He's got skin like me. I've got the Irish body. I always joke. I've got no behind, right. I've got broad shoulders and a little belly right, so, but my shorts are always falling. Yes, saw on the golf course I'm always walking around pulling my shorts up or even my jeans. Right? So I get it. I get it, and I don't think it really fills out the back of his uniform because he seems to be pretty. Slightly built back there, you know, Um I think that it is really unfair and really dangerous to now, try to apply that less than two seconds of mannerism. And now try to discredit somebody who has been on a run as good as anybody in the history of baseball. Yeah, I mean, I get what people are trying to do this, though, because They feel like it's it's ripe, you know, for the for the taking. It's just an easy conversation. But the challenges other than that, right other than Jacob deGrom, you know, fiddling around on this belt for the second quarter. Maybe it's not like he's stuff found exactly where the spot is. Let me get this stick and put in my glove and then rub it with something else in there. Who knows what he's doing. There has never been any indication that he is doing anything like this. Not that you could find. You know, evidence or proof of this. Never had any complaints. You know, hearing people talk about a spin rates suddenly increasing all these, you know, ancillary points. That point that indicate that the guy maybe cheating. You've never heard that And so he just It's the wrong place at the wrong time, and it's creating a narrative about him. That I think is unfair. Now, here's the thing, though. I think it dies pretty quickly. With Jacob deGrom. He's been too good for too many years. Um, for two to stick, so to speak, Not to not to be, you know, no pun intended there, but I think I think this one dies quicker than any of these other ones that we've had doubt about. Well, I I agree, maybe even quicker than the Garrett Coal because this is not coming from a player. By the way, Josh Donaldson got some revenge. Last night, he hit a two run bomb the tie things up yet an awful lost by the Yankees. Chapman with a with a blown save game when they have a five game five lead. Five run lead at one point. And, uh, what was I was certainly was 53 when Donaldson hit the home run, and then Cruz hit, though. Yeah, Five, I guess was five to what I mean. I was watching most of the hoops, but yeah, that was ugly, but anyway The point about the grum is that I do. I think you're right. I do think it will kind of blend into the white noise file very fast. Unless What happens now? I don't expect this because I never expect this when he pitches. What happens if you get smoked tonight? Yeah. Now the play the Padres. That should be a hell of a game. By the way, so he's pitching against the Padres, who have mashers up and down the line up really good baseball team. Some speed as well can create havoc on the basis. What if As you know, Buck Showalter once said. If an ace makes 32 starts 33 starts, he's going to go to the mound about 23 times with his best 20 times with his best stuff, seven or eight times with his B plus a minus stuff and a handful of times where he's really searching and reaching. What if this is one of the handful of starts where Would have the grip on the ball. This body doesn't feel right. What? It didn't sleep. Well, last night, kid kept them up. I don't know. What if Jacob, the ground does not pitch well tonight, then the circumstances, the timing. Oh, well, you know, that video was circulated, Maybe Jacob the Graham stop grabbing the sticky stuff. Yeah, but here's this unfair. Here's the thing. All these guys do this to some extent, you know, we don't know if the ground does it. I don't know. I don't know if he does either, but I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm just gonna assume that he does because everybody does right. But I don't think it's necessarily to cheat. I think like it's the it's because their hands are wet. You know this BT you're sweating. It's whatever is going on with your physiology of your body in producing sweat and sweat glands, and so your hands are getting slippery and so They're putting it somewhere. So next time it won't be in his belt. You know what I mean? Next time it will be somewhere else. I don't know, underneath his glove or inside his wrist or who knows who knows where it could be. But I think a lot of guys are doing this and I don't know why it's become such an issue because it seems nobody could hit anymore. That's why, Yeah, but and the games got very ugly and very skilled. But But is it because of the substances? I don't know on the ball? I don't think so. BT I think it's because of It's it's launch angles. It's it's It's a shift the shift. Um it's I don't know. Okay with striking out exactly guys are okay with, you know, there's no pride anymore and not not striking out. Pitchers can throw 100 at this point. You know what I mean?.
