Danny Lazarus took down not only the 3200 no limit high roller in the WSE online in July, but also won the $1500 millionaire maker. He defeated a 5326 entries to win the $1 million prize. Great story, he beat Daryl rancon heads up before the title and now he has two bracelets. It is a amazing year as we've talked about Josh Arye winning two bracelets we're gonna have on a Scott ball in the coming weeks who won two bracelets also Dan Lazarus. Anthony Zeno also was a guest who won two bracelets. He was an incredible year back to 2000 is when this record is in effect where one person has won at least multiple bracelets during a year and this year set the record for the most times this happened Danny Lazarus is one of those people. We've obviously started off the 2022 year with the WSOP player of the year, Josh Arya with our two part interview. I hope you enjoyed that last year. We ended the year with karate. Champion of the WSOP main event. But we're continuing more and more interviews with players that one major events. And this event has been one of the favorites for the players over the years, just due to its name. Everyone wants to be a millionaire. Everyone wants to have that massive 7 figure score and this gentleman can live to tell the tale. He is the 2021 WSOP millionaire maker champion, but he is also part of that group in 2021 that set the record for the most winners multiple winners in the same year since 2000 we have had a champion who has won two bracelets in the same year. All the way back to 2000. But this year set the record for the most not only only on live, but there were multiple players that won one online and also one one live. And our guess this week did just that one a high roller online, and then one of the millionaire maker lives. So congratulations and welcome to the show Danny Lazarus dating. It's a crazy step, getting to realize that when you mention that before, it's how many people won with the fields getting so much harder. But I'm just happy to be here. It's been a good 2021 was great. Looking forward. 2020. Not only two bracelets, but you get the millionaire one. I mean, that's the one that if you're gonna play a kind of a mid stage 1500 event, there's the one that you want to win because usually the largest winning check that you're going to get. Second place was half a million numerous players obviously in this event itself. But you also won the 3200 no limit high roller online as well in July before we get to all of that though. I would love to understand kind of your background in the world of poker because, you know, we talk with a lot of players. They've grinded for ten years. They've grinded, you know, since the money maker days, et cetera, et cetera, but you really haven't done that. You really haven't played for many years. You're 31 years old, even if you're playing since, you know, you're 21, there's only been ten years, but you really haven't done that for many years, right? That's correct. Yeah, I kind of started really late. I mean, I was introduced program young. I actually went to sleep late camp and used to play in the play hold them in the coming copy room, but I wasn't very good. But around four years ago or so, I was just kind of looking for something new to learn that required skill and you can kind of learn game theory to get better at. And I was between chess poker and I messed around for a little bit, got really interested in the game kind of just don't head first and now four years later, I did accomplish some things I never thought were possible. "We are fortunate to have this gentleman back again this week. He is the 2021 WSOP player of the year one over a $1 million this last series and for us to kick off the 2022 year with him. It is an absolute honor to bracelets this summer for overall, as I mentioned one over a million in the 2021 WSOP four final tables, 11 cash. That doesn't even include the one he won on that he finished online where he finished fourth for almost a 100,000. A phenomenal summer from start to finish, but it didn't start out that way and in Toronto, I think he will even admit he never expected it. Josh Ari here back on the show 2021 WSOP player of the year. Thanks for coming back on my friend. Thanks for having me, man. I enjoy it. Let's talk about it. You enter 2021. Like you said, you didn't play. You don't play much. I guess before a good way to kind of preface it is, what were you doing during COVID? Were you playing much? What was I doing during COVID? I was gaining weight. I was watching, I think every single episode of every show on Netflix. Yeah, that's right. We had a little home game, a group of guys that played from Atlanta. We would play here and there and maybe some sitting goes, some cheap Omaha, some cheap hold on, but other than that, I didn't do much. So going into this 2021 World Series, the plan was for you to be there the entire time, right? What were your expectations? Was it hopefully we'll get some good cashes or be profitable? I had zero expectations. I was there for the whole time because of pocket 5s because of me running pocket 5s. Staking platform, I planned on being there, dealing with the horses, getting players packages posted. But I definitely planned on playing a good amount, but not near what I played. It started off really slow. I think for I was there for two weeks and had no caches. And then finally, I. Broke through with the flip N go. How many times did you have to do the flip N go? I think three or four, I don't remember. It was either three or four, and then finally, I just remember talking to like, okay, finally, I got that out of the way, and now I can play and that's a cash. Yeah. And then I think I had like two other in the money finishes and came home for four or 5 days to hang out with my daughter. And circled that 1500 plo event on the calendar and was like, okay, I'm coming back for that. So flew in the morning of that event and caught some heat and you know from there just like the snowball effect. It's been like that way in my life the whole time. I would, when it's going good, it's going really good. When it's going bad, it goes bad. And so I just knew that I needed a little momentum and when I got that momentum I you know when they gave me the ball, I ran with it..

The 2021 WSOP player of the year that's right, Josh Ari four time bracelet winner two times this year and as we mentioned one player of the year. He'll kick off January, the first two weeks of January will be with Josh REA on the fourth and the 11th of January 2022. It was the Europe WSOP main event. 688 entries created a prize pool of over 6.5 €1 million and it was amazing to see this battle also first prize was 1.2 7 6 €1 million second prize was almost €800,000. It was one by Joseph, gulas junior, he defeated Johann Gilbert of France, Joseph is from the Czech Republic. He played in the first event, which was the opener and then played cash the rest of the time. And then decided to play in the main event, he waited for the main event. He had an entry locked up because of his third place finish in the 250 IPS main event this past June and he would buy in to this main event. Also, the runner up, he's a very popular streamer and vlogger in Europe. He's a French man, but lives in Malta, two years ago, he was heads up for a coven to gold bracelet and unfortunately missed out then in a $3000 limit Holden shootout. Well, congratulations to Josef gulas from the Czech Republic winning his bracelet in the WSOP Europe main event. This gentleman has now entered the world of immortality in poker. He is a person who is part of a very, very small group of players, less than 50 because there have been multiple champions of the World Series main event. And this person had one of the most dominating performances in a World Series main event probably since 2006 and Jamie gold. He was the chip leader not going into the final table, but on multiple days at the end of day 5 he was a chip leader at the end of day 6. He was 5th and chips going into the main event final table, chip leader with 20 left to go. He was a chip leader and did not give it up until they got to heads up. But ended up taking the World Series main event crown. The $8 million. And of course, most importantly, that bracelet, welcome to the show, the new champion, 2021 cry aldera. Congratulations cry. "Yes, the attendance was down, like you said, about 20, 30%. But that's primarily because you're European players couldn't come over. Unless they were the real committed ones who spent two weeks prior to kind of get into the country through Mexico or Canada or whatever it was. Thank God Cory Alden did that where I did that or else we wouldn't have a new champ. But I think that the only the difference, as I said, plain wise, I don't think it really felt much of a difference. First of all, whether you had 90 tables or a 110 tables, how are you going to feel the difference? But I think the difference that you felt was the outside events, right? I knew of years where people literally made their summer living playing sitting goes. And the sitting goes were just packed every single day. The lines after line after line. And I remember going by one time and there were three of them going. And I was like, wow. Satellites were canceled, unfortunately. Cash games were going. I think that if there was one thing that was still there, cash games were still going. Daily tournaments, which we have seen in the thousands, which we have seen first prizes of 20 $30,000, those were down as well. So I think that the events themselves, which, of course, is really the center of the World Series. They went off very well. I think the extraneous stuff, not so much. And understandably, like, if you're going to go to the World Series and be a spectator or play cash or play these dailies, why are you going to go this year? This isn't the year to do it, right? All of us we're trying to win a bracelet. We're going to go. You give us a vaccine mandate. We're going. So I think that, like you said, a success. Absolutely success. And I like your statement. I think it might have been better than they expected, because it could have been what some people feared was just going to blow up and it did so. Good to the World Series. Great that we had a successful 2021. And of course, 2022 is right around the corner. There were a lot of stories. Let's talk about the main event. Obviously, that was a lot of stories in and of itself. Especially with all the coverage, but there were a lot of stories at the World Series. And let me kick it off by I think that it's the number one story. It was the guy who lives, breeze, WSOP, has said that he wants to win 24 bracelets that he will win 24 braces. This is a quote from him, not me. He picked up his 16th this year. He set a record for the most final tables with 7. He finished runner up in player of the year for unfortunately the fourth time. And, you know, he had his controversies, you know, he filled being Phil, but the poker brat is alive and well. Phil helmet an incredible run at the beginning, taking over player of the year. Had a little bit of a run at the end and finished runner up in the big pot limit overhaul to Jeremy awesomes who won his second bracelet. Daniel finishing third and Daniel and Phil finishing two three ultimately to Josh Ari incredible what Phil helmes did. Congratulations to him picking up his 16th bracelet. And I will say guys I'm going to take another one here, sorry..

"We are continuing our coverage of the 2021 W S O P, we're fortunate to have on many winners, including Phil helm youth over the last several weeks, but this gentleman continued the trend of people winning two bracelets in one year. He's the first person in 2021 to have done that. Josh Ari has done it as well, but he initially won the ten K 7 card stud championship for almost a $183,000 and then just shortly thereafter won the $1500 horse event for about a $160,000 as well. But this isn't his first two bracelets. He has two other bracelets as well winning the $25,000 high roller plo event in 2015. And also the $1500 pot limit Omaha hi low 8 or better in 2019 and to top it all off. He was also player of the year during its season 13 needless to say this gentleman is one of the superstars in poker glad to have him back on the show. Anthony Zeno. Anthony, thanks for joining us here on the bernardini poker show. My friend. My pleasure, Bernie. Thanks for having me. It is so great to see so many players of back at the World Series. You know, it was summer camp again. Everyone came back after these two years of unfortunately with the COVID pandemic for you during this COVID pandemic. Were you working on your game where you able to really kind of pick apart some aspects of your game and really bring that and maybe led to your success this year? Yeah, it's funny. I actually really, really enjoy online poker. A lot more than people know because I was playing online 2003, I had finished my undergraduate degree and saw like a commercial for ultimate pat or something. And started playing with play chips and loving it. And I've played online poker ever since then, and anywhere I could find some play in my downtime, you know? So COVID gave a lot of downtime. So I found some sites to play on, you know, whatever I could, whatever I was invited to play here and there, whatever sites, a lot of WSP dot com here in Nevada. Kind of fun. Obviously, I wish there were more cash game availability, particularly like kind of like mid steak stuff like 30 60 mixed games would be nice. Hopefully we can get back there in the future if there's more online U.S. Coke or regulation. But yeah, I did a lot of playing and thinking about the game and my own my own version of studying without it being specifically solvers. I mean, there aren't even solvers for a lot of these mixed games. Whether you're watching final tables or otherwise. But yeah, it works a lot of my games and my goal has always been my goal since I started playing all the games around 2000 around 2000 and 12 and 13 and started playing all of the games more. My goal has been to try to get say 5 to 10% better at each game.

All right, this year's World Series of poker has come to an end and here are our final updates, spinning glazer one event 78 to ten K rats championship for a sports career bracelet. Previously in the series, he had a second third and 9th place finishes. They'll help you made a 6th final table the series, and I can't believe you didn't notice I did. You did it everywhere and I just said screw it. He's doing it to piss me off or he's really stupid. So either way, you know, I don't know, but you're really itchy L button on my laptop is what it is. Constantly putting extra L's where they don't belong. It's like Easter egg hunt for you. Anyway, I feel help me with one out. Actually. One L and Phil, too and help me. You made a 6 final table of the series. Adrian Mateo is one of an 82, the 250 K high roller for his fourth career bracelet in the highest buy in event of the series. Leo Omar gets when event 83 to $1500 closer to become the only woman to win an open event this series. Jeremy Osman is one of N 84 to 50 K PO high roller defeating Phil Helmut one L and NFL. Heads up, helping me set the record for the most final tables in a series with 7 Daniel mcgrady who finished third. Josh aria was 7th, the grand I would go on to finish third in the very next event while aria had a tenth place finish two events later. And Josh Ari is this year's player of the year at 11 cache is two bracelets in two other final tables with 4194.59 points helping me to finish second with 3720.01 points and ten cash is one bracelet. 6 other final tables, while doing your grano, who hasn't won a bracelet since 2013, boy, I would have lost that, but rallied to finish third with 3531.03 points with 18 cashes and three final tables. The World Series of poker started a new series of NFT options, which we don't care about at all. Nope. But if you do, it features famous clips from the series over the years. And finally, well known when Las Vegas tax expert Russ Fox had published his estimates of the tax burden for this year's main event final table. New world champion Cory, elder, a German who lives in Austria, very smartly for tax purposes and two British final table participants won't owe a single penny in taxes based on U.S. tax treaties with those two nations and the fact that neither of those countries not companies. Countries, tax gambling, winnings, the other players who have in the United States Turkey and Argentina will see a good chunk of their winnings going to various governments with high park lives in New Jersey's likely to pay the highest percentage of his winnings. I mean, he comes out of nowhere again. Obviously, he's been a player the whole time and all that, but I mean, just to have this massive year. And every time helmets tried to one up, I'm gonna get it back or whatever our AB right there with him finishing right near him or whatever. It was a pretty remarkable year for him. Congratulations, really phenomenal. Yeah, he was definitely a fly in his soup this whole series, right? Thought he was going to catch up and then you follow that over there. Hey, hey, he's had another final table. Well, guess what? Josh Ari just missed the final labels. I don't do much. So yeah, somebody called him an unlikely player of the year. I don't know if that seems like a stretch to me. Obviously, I think some of these other names, people probably would have thought a bit more. But I don't necessarily think it's an unlikely, but one of these great pros gets a good streak and the initial we had three of them. I mean, three of the most fantastic players will oversee finished one two and three and they all had great series. Solidifying our player of the year, you know, professional player going to do well in this World Series stuff. I mean, they really did just rise to the occasion. The other stuff on top of LEGO markets, that's fantastic. You know, a woman winning, it's always always great when that can happen because then it just opens up the field to more women saying, hey, I think I can do this too and getting them out there to play and that's a great thing. Some of these other names I didn't really recognize, but they had multiple bracelets. Again, this week, everybody who want to bracelet seem to have wondered fourth bracelet. It's crazy. And I haven't heard telling you squawking about the player of the year. Here at the end, I'm sure he probably was somewhere. But it's interesting because he talked about when he had his first meltdown over here and it should reward final tables over anything else. So we've got to look at now we kind of know some of the stats, right? So aria made four final tables, he made 7, but aria had two bracelets he only had one, so I don't know. I mean, 11 cashes and ten companies had ten. So, you know, I think between those two, I think we're really splitting hairs now. Would have been interesting if Negro would have cast a couple more times 18 cashes had more than almost as much of those two guys combined. Had he had a couple more cashes and actually been the player of the year and I'm not looking for a appointment to the college football playoff selection committee here by saying it, but I would have a hard time stop eating a player of the year that didn't win a bracelet. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. I mean, still 18 cash is pretty phenomenal. But that's remarkable. Remarkable. I think you meant new granular..

"Bracelet winners this year. Crazy. And so many people added to their fourth or 5th career. Bracelets. So absolutely, definitely a year of the probe that part came true. Interestingly in the main event, as I was watching these flights, a good, it looks like 75% between 70 75% of entrance made at the day too. So now taking anything away from those names we just mentioned or any of our listeners who made it the day two or any minute of day two, but not as tough as you might have thought. Yeah. Get farther down. But good for everybody that still live in. Pretty phenomenal. And really the only big name that I saw and I'm sure there are other ones, but the only one noted that is out as Danny de grone who got booted in the level two, I think. So there's always rough for these pros. Obviously, right? Because you can't go fire another bullet. Exactly. You're a World Series are done, and you got to wait for next year. So that's always very difficult. So but most of it looks like what's the big names moved on now? And of course, how am I doing his show up at dinner break? He played two hours and ran a 60 K starting back up to 93 moved on. So good day at the office for him. Short date of the opportunity. One of remarkable last half of the World Series for Josh Ari too. I mean, wow. You know, they call them Atlanta Josh and it's just it's phenomenal how well he's playing and it's like a, I don't know, just like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, because you haven't heard anything from this guy in a decade. Now all of a sudden, boom, he's just going crazy and so did you happen to catch wind of the player of the year stuff? Who do you know? I did not check that out, so. I'm very curious because like you said there's these three guys who have a first and a second. Rea's got all this stuff going on now. Two bracelets and other caches and another final table and he made the main event day two as did, you know, Phil helmuth and stuff. So I'm just very curious to see who has to do what to win it, you know, or whatever. Yeah, I wonder what are the. Player of the year? Oh, here it is. All right, hold on. All right. I'll fill the dead air while you're looking it up here. Josh REA is in first now. Yep. With 3110.91 points. So how many 7? Holy cow. Yeah.
