And i asked him similar question about balancing being a top trainer and and trying to be a father and and all those types of things and he much like you. He talked about his wife tracy. And how instrumental. She has been in helping to make that easier but he also regrets not always being there for some of the you know soccer games and things like that that he's had to miss out on because he's working as the kids get older. Is that something. That's going to be hard for you to think to to not be there for some of the things that they're going to be doing. I always liked the name and i knew when i had a boy. Let's go derek. So i i do so. He was heard to bake the third thing. If any of the children come to you one day and say dad. I wanna be jockey to what do you tell them cannot said they finish. School lives as soon as they can go. They can go ahead on. Be yucky for sure. I'm support them in whatever they want to. You know Hopefully they go on to something else because is not easy But i cannot tell them not to do it when i did it. You know so. I i guess the time will come and let them decide whatever they want to do. Whatever they want to do. Then i'll be there to support them Hundred samuel so many times when we talk about jose ortiz. We're talking about your older brother. Erade too and it's so great that the two of you get to well number one worked together but live so close to each other. "If you run a forty five half it least every month the league you know because after that i think you're gonna over correct if anything In this spot. I definitely i definitely think he can get that pharaoh trip if you wanna talk about that where he can run the half and forty eight east eastbound himself in the half those and forty eight. I think we're all going to be looking at each other like well. He's gonna be really tough to be a bit is raining forty eight. You've got to think that you're gonna have hot rod right on his throat. You're going to have hot rods kind of the key because you know how it's going to be right so quality will be right there on. Yes he should be close in the the worst from japan the we don't i don't even count because i just i just think he's i don't think he'll play a factor Nuts steve we don't know yet As far as who's gonna ride note agenda the report that would say paul. Maybe going to let us know that they're expecting announcement tomorrow. Probably probably was literally isn't so we're hoping tomorrow we know right. I read comes out of the tunnel. There's like smoke around. Notre jumped up on why. That's a good question. Though iran. we talked about it a little bit before show right. What do you do tomorrow guys on. Thirteen mounts. he's fantastic writer. And there's one getting forces that you have to take that into the equation and me. This is the worse all all day tomorrow. The horse i think is affected the most by a jockey. Change is not gentle iraq. Find the boarding yoke different horse. He's got a great job. I off the contract was still great. Young host one. He finished strong he was there. I'd like the worst yo to use. Definitely maybe in third other for sure. Now i don't even like you say three straight with with iran and Y'all we you know. We used him underneath Because he's a horse eyesores for a young. If you guys probably know remember one the biggest source of his race also. I didn't but i'm glad i did now. Because you're right. I mean i who's it going to be like s llano. Maybe this pletcher or jose ortiz of the two main contender now. Jose ortiz surprisingly does not have long. Now there's only eight horses so that that's on huge surprise but yeah that's the two main contenders as i think david renting Tweeted that those are the two that are most likely to give. Yeah and given it its brother makes does alia now Let's see who athenee longshots out. And i guess overtook or you're kind of both fletcher's both horses that One one finished third of the peter pan one finish thirteen in the kentucky. Derby wood memorial robotic wanted a huge price. Take any of these courses seriously Even if it's like a dry play or something now but it's the belmont right. So you wanna play overtook underneath. I wouldn't i wouldn't talk you out of it because the belmont always usually always usually always has a horse in the top three radio. I don't know where that came from. You know so is personally. Don't take him serious. But if you wanna throw a crazy in there. I i certainly wouldn't you off of it. I i love like as much as you're comfortable playing a straight exact on a wall. The overhaul ride like just pound the shit out of it. Because i just think those horses are going to run the race. They're gonna go to i. Guess if you're feeling you really like hot rod reverse it. But i just feel like those horses like is a field of eight. So you've got to horses that you need to finish top two out of the aids and through the easily the two most consistent as far as you know at the end of the day you're gonna get that run but the good not good enough or not you know you'll seek and they run down rocker. Rocker minoza your unknowns. Of course but i just feel like those are the ones you can count on the most. I love those as an executive i. Okay i'm not as compensator straight exact. But i am confident. That essentially ball in hot runner going to make up the try right and then it's just finding that another horse we play. Well north. See that by the guy if you want to play. But i am really hardy man awkward. I am really black listened. Somebody's got to pay for my lap dance inning. Meaning it'd be paul but she said something but anyway. I am really confident that those horses are so on saint page. I am competent. They're going to run the races. So you're you're unite both on each you. Yup paul Land on to win in the race off. I undertake cow rocket love on that bureau. Bo- you're you're you're just think it's too good. I think you're going to get the one. I don't think he's gonna make at sixty one. I think you're getting five one soon. N if you look at the rest of the card the aggressive part has chance to chalk out somewhat break races horses. Thank you everything. Is there for that horse. The one he's gonna go to france. If you think about charlie last time outlawed for every one louisiana derby a liar who was on it. Those are you does on rock the world. So he's gonna know they look at the same things we know Chance probably has be heard saying reason. You frustrated rock-n-roll in this race. Is you wanna love to seeing hot rod. Charlie out front wire right exactly. Rosario is gonna know that would be the green with the frat on blah so with arias to go and i think erin. You're right whether it's a forty five in change half. He has to be enrique fast to me if he's on the lead and this is a race. That historically is not closures race. So it's gonna and that's why i think it's gonna come down to one of those those three to each world i don't take your rock-n-roll because i think he's going to be on. Leave any separately best price. I think people like you and really anyone. Even if you're hoffman. Whose nestling quaint against so to speak or at least you're gonna know top the turn whether we're right arar is he executive he's a you'll have an idea like okay. This is tough to catch right now..

Jose ortiz jose ortiz two charlie tomorrow half paul Land Charlie france forty eight arias five erin Rosario eight horses thirteen third both two main contenders two main contender

Racing Without Gambling

"I'm guessing you've heard of the Kentucky Derby Abi to this race that's run usually early in May we haven't yet talked about the Kentucky Derby this year but that's about to change as we're finally starting to get into rounds of prep races that will winnow the field down to twenty for the run for the roses on May the second so to help us do that. We bring in voice. We haven't heard on this show for too long and and that's Jonathan Listener who writes for horse racing nation. Welcome back Jonathan. So before we get into a few specific horses. WHO's impressed you the most so far on the triple triple crown trail? I think Dennis moment to start the list. Dentists moment strikes to lead right at the top of the stretch at Delta. Two lanes lead our three lately for the final final furlong. Dennis this moment with five length lead scabbard with clear sailing up the second but Dennis moment kicks off the road at the Kentucky Derby in a big way. He barely moved a muscle. That we we have it. RESTRAINING NATION DOT COM user generated Kentucky Derby contender rankings and despite his trouble that experience career dentist moment has not left that number. One spot. You talking about a grade three winner. Who was going to be the favourite the Breeders Cup Juvenile L. Stumbles out of the gate? You know he could be undefeated if you look back at his debut he lost his jockey was really no fault zone so he has the two losses and between between them. He's sandwich to really really nice. Looking victories including his debut at Ellis Park they won by like nineteen and a quarter lengths. I think it was so there's a lot of potential there and he's one that I feel like every once in a while you hear about a derby prospect before they make their debut and then we kind of latch onto them I wanna say it was probably roadster roadster last year because Baffert said he could be his next justify American Farrow and obviously it didn't work out there but they'll Romans has talked up Dennis's moment since before he he ran a race. And so we're we're kind of going to the same thing here As far as a couple of other runners eight rings also out of the Breeder's cup juvenile. He's a really interesting. One didn't really run his race. You know the last time we saw him but I think the way he's going to be handled this season. You have to keep paying attention trained by Bob Baffert. He's he's GonNa run him in the rebel at Oaklawn. And then the Arkansas Derby potentially there as well and then another one that you know kind of on the fence about that you know. He's got a lot of towns. Is Max `field scratched from the Breeders Cup Juvenile. He had a little bit of an issue. There it turns out we found out a couple of weeks after that that he had had a minor surgery for a bone chip. But he's not even in serious training now. Well he's he's he's apparently galloping No works yet and so I think they'll have to do the to A. Ah kind of schedule where you hope to get race out of them and then you have a more serious race which I would expect to be something like the blue grass stakes if everything works out well and he's undeniable town. I'm and I think he's GonNa win a major race somewhere down the road. I don't know if it's going to be the Kentucky Derby and then the other one I feel like it's gotten all the conversation is independence hall at at Independence Hall now makes his move. Independence Hall is the leader getting away to lead by two prints of Pharaohs has moved up on the outside. It's Bourbon Bay Independence All L. linked and a half as they come for the quarto prints of Pharaohs on the outside Bourbon Bay. It is independence hall with the lead and now a furlong to the finish Jose Ortiz showing them the whip now goes to work on independence hall. WHO has a three likely? Just a sixteen to the finish at. It's the constitution called Independence Hall. Tailwind Jerome by four Knights won the national stakes by open links came back and won the jerome. It was a little more workmanlike. But he's going to go. Oh into the new year here as another one of the favorites and if I could talk about one more that has sort of attracted my attention a little bit. It's this ancient warrior horse. I don't know what his path is going to look like. He's Jerry Hall android or for trainee. And if you follow racing at all the last year or so. You'll know that. He's SORTA become embattled. Dan from the strike. Group's tracks out in California But I of all these horses that have won maiden races and we'll be going to the stakes. I want to watch that one closely. He's moved him over to Oakland Park. We should see him in an allowance. Race coming up at the beginning of February and then from then on he should be on the Derby trail else. That's one that that I definitely want to see more of well. You mentioned Bob Baffert. And it's tough to talk about the Kentucky Derby Trail Without Bob Baffert and he has a lot more than the one you mentioned. There's thousand words who ran a big race in the low sal futurity. I'm a Roger Federer Fan but you have to give it up for an doll who is also ambassador trainee. Who looked really really good? So I mean you know Bob Baffert certainly knows how to get horses to the Derby mean how many of these prospects aspects of pan out. I see a path for all of them. To be honest. You know and we also have mentioned authentic. It's still authentic coming to the three the eight ball. He's been in control throughout leads by a length and a half to uncaptured hero. It's all authentic as they pass the quarter pole and turned for home authentic and complete Khaliq Command turning it on. He's in front by sex with a furlong left to go. Zimba Warrior and Assault Coast as authentic is putting on a show. Here is a little green gene shifting about but long gone authentic strolls home in the sham. He'll win by about eight lakes green. It's Grafton stretch and just kept going there and another extremely impressive Horse Nidal I. I wonder about him a little bit. You know we've only seen him one time on Sunday and that six and a half for a long race he he looks like Dortmund Ortmann if you go back to two thousand fifteen big horse. That wasn't extremely fast out of the gate but once he got into stride he went straight to the pace and never really let up there. Yeah it's not not really the kind of horse you want to win the Derby but I think you could get to the Derby and then thousand words certainly has every reason to move forward his last race. I think they had probably a little bit the too much blinker on him and he ended up going head to head with that no door that ran in the Breeders Cup juvenile second. I think it's SORTA legitimize both of those horses that they ran so closely in the future. But I think thousand words is probably at least a couple of lengths better then a no door. He just probably didn't see him in the stretch until Flavian Kinda guided him out and it's like Oh with the blinker. The horse realized he had something to run against a win on. So I guess when you talk about horses that I'm looking at in the new year. Thousand Words is definitely on that shortlist list to Jonathan Listener of racing. Nation is with us here on the gate. We've talked a little bit about the Breeders Cup juvenile which was a topsy turvy race. You had three big horses that we've mentioned into all had their problems that day. We haven't talked about the horse. Who Wanted Storm the court for trainer Peter Martin and that would be a very popular win in the racing business? As you know what chance do you give storm the court to back up what he did in the juvenile. Oh probably not much not a lot of black type in the family. I'm not sure if there's any black type from Stanley I'd agree wise. And then you know he was obviously the beneficiary of other horses stumbles in that race You Know He. He goes gate to wire was not really pressed a whole lot and at the same time. I think they took the blinker. They put their blinkers on. I'm sorry and I have not a fan of lemon. That put blinkers was on a horse at that point in their career. I feel like you should be taken them off so that they can relax. Prepare to go a little bit longer. I think that race and the circumstances just all all came together for storm the court and allowed him to upset that race. It's forty five to one. Whatever he ended up that day I'm sort of in agreement? I think with everybody else that the the the better Derby Derby prospect was no door and second in that race going forward. I want to mention because these races have just happened. Enforceable label for Mark Cassie. Who is not missed? A beat after a son norm went out on his own. He had been his father's chief assistant and enforceable. Really good winning the Lecomte. But we haven't seen too many Lecompte winners. Go on to run well in the Kentucky Derby. Where do you put me as a tap it colt out of a dixie union in marriage? The breeding is good. I put him a really high on my list. As far as forces will be in the Derby but I would not put him on my list of forces that I think can win the Derby and I say that because of his running style you know if we go back to almost every year that the point system has been effect and obviously gets rid of those pure your sprinters. It's the horses that can put themselves near the front at the beginning of the race and keep that pace up and never be caught by closers that tend to win the Derby enforceable enforceable is one of those closers. It's inevitable that he's GONNA run into traffic problem you know. I almost hope he sneaks into the Derby and everybody overlooks. Because I feel like he's the kind of horse could come into the super factor. That's probably going to be a really common line of thought. Though I mean I'm thinking a few months out but the soup perfect You know in the era of a favorites winning the Derby is as remain because it's pretty high minimum of really profitable wager for people nonetheless so yeah for me. He's a super effective player. I I I think he's GonNa be okay as the distance is longer obviously is a full brother Mohammed and a half years day. There's a lot there in the pedigree just really impressive on paper and it was good to see him run as well as he did you know He. He broke his maiden at nine furlongs last summer at Saratoga and it looks like okay. Here's a real two year old and I you know he ran into you. Go into a little bit shorter and the breeder security at keeneland and Max field because two things came together and got him beat but he's definitely better horse than he showed that day and it was good to see him back it up the trump

Thousands in Puerto Rico without power after earthquakes

"The recent earthquakes importer Rico have caused widespread power outages on the island leaving thousands of residents without electricity and while the power authority says it's restored electricity to around ninety six percent of the population intermittent outages remain the damages particularly severe in the southwest where officials say it could take more than a year to repair a major power plant in the region and but it bother Porter Rican electric power authority has been in crisis for years dealing with crumbling infrastructure frequent power outages and bankruptcy and that's why some community organizations like the Porter Rico community foundation are taking matters into their own hands they've started installing micrograms in low income areas after hurricane Maria Nelson Cologne the president of the organization says they've already completed for projects serving sixty four communities Weber whole land was global back in those for a proud day war powers by solar so they didn't have one day of corruption they didn't have any major style and they keep moving forward under former governor regardless say you'll Porter Rico had made an ambitious commitment to get one hundred percent of its energy from renewable sources like solar by twenty fifty but since Rosales resignation last summer those plans remain uncertain I'm joined now by Michael diapered an author and journalist based in San Juan and Sergio marques watch a policy director for the center for new economy also in San Juan thank you both for joining us thank you Michael you've been reporting on the aftermath of last week's earthquake tell us what the infrastructure looks like in the places that you visited so far I mean it's striking really I mean particularly in Quantico which was I would say the community most of your he hit on the south and the ironically also with the US military first landed in eighteen ninety eight when they when they invaded Puerto Rico you you have pretty widespread destruction and I would say the population as well you know there's quite a bit of of collapsed buildings and very few people still actually living in the in the center of the city a lot of people have moved elsewhere or living in you know make shifter temporary accommodations what is the power situation like in that region in the southwest part of the island I think it's come back in in some places but so many people are living in such kind of improvised accommodations I mean I don't think a lot of people have regular access to the fruits of electricity as there is you're used to having when they're living in their own homes and of course prep service can be somewhat spotty in normal times so to speak so that's been something that's been an ongoing problem even before the earthquake Michael you mentioned but I by which is the Porter Rico electric power authority there been calls for the executive director Jose R. tease to resign that's been hash tag Jose Ortiz great noon see ya tell us about that where does that stand I mean I think people are are pretty upset with his performance in an interview he said that you know he was called to lead prep and he didn't send the CD and anyone which I think gave a not really great impression to people about his attitude towards the crisis Sir your what it where his famous stand I mean we know they've had a spotty record with that the island so far since hurricane Maria are they able to repair the grid Congress actually appropriated two billion dollars just after you Ricky Maria twenty seventeen and they were your market specifically to modernize the grid that money unfortunately has not been disbursed yet deferral garment I don't know if it's for you must fault if it's the office of management and budget but something you definitely is holding up the money in Washington DC so you don't last may we said put Rico announced a very ambitious plan this is under governor because but our CEO who since stepped down after protests mounted on the island he set out an ambitious plan to get all of the islands electricity from renewables by twenty fifty what progress has the island made since then unfortunately very little approximately around five percent of all the electricity produced and put a recall right now comes from regal sources it's going to be very difficult to reach that target at this space we need of prep and the private sector to start investing a lot more aggressively in this renewable sources or otherwise we're just probably gonna miss it at all and not just the deadline I mean Sir do you do you think that this is ultimately a solution for these infrastructure issues given that there been natural disasters like hurricane Maria like the earthquakes going forward well it would certainly help as as we listened to doctor call on it he did mention that you know those communities that have access to many greats that were connected to solar panels did not suffer an outage and and that's the whole point I mean we're trying to change the system from a centralized system where you have five or six big units around the island to a lot of smaller generation capacity heated in many points across the island so when we have an earthquake say you want to go which is in the southwest part of the island these girls for example doesn't have to suffer a complete outage we mentioned that since oversee your has stepped down and there's been a lot of change importer Rico not just said natural disasters but also politically one bass was is the new governor of the island and she's got a new administration is their political will Sergio to continue to push for solar at that level that's going to be an interesting question Mrs basket is is from the same party as going across the yellow so in theory she would not have any political constraints in terms of pushing forward however she hasn't been very clear as to what your plan is going forward and of course we have elections in November so that could change everything Michael when you talked to residents of the island have been affected by this most recent wave of earthquakes our people all talking about solar energy directly are they talking about what one to Vasquez's saying or not saying or or are there concerns much more basic than that I think one thing is that people feel like they've been extremely battered in recent years but these natural disasters and it's really you know kind of rocking them back on their heels yet again and I think you know one thing that a lot of folks on the ground here is that they're just wondering I think English perhaps the state as a whole could be a little bit more responsive to their needs I think a lot of people may be feel that you know that the political parties in San Juan and it's an interesting figure that I always remembers that like seventy percent of the energy importer Rico I think it is is created in the south of the country and the usage is seventy percent of the north so it's kind of with this reverse relationship that places have and I think a lot of these people who don't necessarily feel like the political actors in in San Juan in the capital or really necessarily advocating for their interests all the time so here we've seen that to that point that some communities have decided to take the situation into their own hands and build their own solar power networks without government help how common is it for folks to do that and how effective is it it became a big part of the solution if you will just after here in my area because they were communities as you know that where without power for almost a year after the year Ricky so there there was a lot of interest mostly from the private sector and NGOs to try to get some independence from the government owned you know electricity company and there has been some success in terms of getting electricity many greats in some of the most isolated communities but we still have a long ways to go it's not a a hundred percent solution right now given that you know solar powers and agreed that we have it's really old so the greed will have to be modernized in order for poor regal to really scare up to the goals that were set up by gore and offers a yellow but it's it's a good start and also as I mentioned earlier we're still waiting for a significant amount of money that will be used to rebuild it read which is an essential component of reconfiguring the whole electricity system yeah Sergio marques watches the policy director for the center for a new economy and Michael divert as an author and journalist based in San Juan thanks to you both I

Early Thoughts Before Pre-Entries

"Gossip Good Morning Good Morning Steve. How're you doing good to be back home glad to whatever you want you know it's open open mic DOC whatever is ready and of course you follow gusts through everybody's followed gusts forever from day one on at the races and got a couple of plays maybe for the weekend gus but some some early thoughts before pre entries as we look Toward Cup it's always talked before pre entries but breath just looking at the races exciting exciting racist to get excited about it I think cameras just said I think the sprint and the dirt mile probably the two right now but I mean we have three solid juvenile's with noon Dennis moment eight rings and and Max Bill which I think three of those are very quality horses and just looking to see how these fields shape up but I mean I'll see you know some great opportunities in those fourteen racist for sure what we haven't obviously we haven't had a chance to talk anything on a consistent basis but what do you like to do when it comes to terms of a ticket structures and and focus in how many how many multi-race wagers which one's the utilize the most I'll tell you what you know you get these big fields I had the most success with exactly is in doubles to tell you the truth sometimes simple the up keep it simple and You get I mean you get a lot of value and those plays with the you know arch fields in and actually pick a couple of wide open races I usually focus on that I do tickets with the you know the picked force and I like to find at least one single maybe to deepen the other one and maybe spread that's what I kind of look forward definitely a single though in the pick four pick five I definitely need one host but I think even the pick threes you know the pick threes are they paid handsomely in the last few years as well but I think people you know who spoke with the exact in the doubles I mean you can get some real value if you if you got a good opinion onto racist back to back you can get paid well and we were in fact last week with Jeff Siegel this came up and when I was asking Jeff about his preparations and when it comes to the a ticket building and and we'll remind everybody that as much time as we spend handicapping the gotta spend a hundred percent the maybe not maybe not practical to spend as much time building the tickets but there's gotta come a point Wednesday Thursday where you you've got a pretty good idea of of the horses you're going to key around take a break from I'm from the handicapping and put pen to paper and write down the your perspective wagers and budgeted out and and you know take a look at the you know once we get the announcement I think it's on the twenty third by the way runs day the twenty third will be the race order official order announcement the Breeders Cup has a tendency to the tinker with it based on on the way the field size shape up you know look at that structure highlight the spots where you've got your strongest opinion and then back up on either side of those strong opinions if you're a mother erased player and you know we keep suggesting you know if you if you typically pick four player okay fine you're going to play your series of fake force but this is where you take a step back to and play more pick threes and the doubles and I I I think it's advice that I try to drive home every single u a year that you you don't WanNa have some of your best ideas the horses that end up winning that you had a good feel for an and then you didn't cash because there's some upset in the third or fourth leg of a pick four and you you didn't leverage your good idea as strongly as you might have oh I totally agree with that you know like you said once the the race orders come in just pick your spots we have your strongest opinions and then you go from there I mean that's I mean horse players nightmare there were your your ten to one shot twelve the one shot comes in and then you're single maybe a three to one shot you know doesn't come in the last leg and you didn't have anything on on on your your strongest opinion the price that's that's tough pill does Walla sometimes no doubt gusts will obviously you know get a chance to direct people toward you and and the analysis at at Brisbane that and Talk Again Cup Week maybe you know pick out a a a spot that you know the to discuss what what he did complain of of late how much keeneland action you taking it definitely on the weekends for sure and dabbling a little bit during the week I mean some great racing the weather's been fantastic and big fields they're coming to an end here this weekend but got a couple of plays today actually Keelan let me here let me let me see got hold on I got the where's where's my keeneland Friday Thursday AK with Saturday I keep the Friday about what's going on down believable there's so much there's so many things here did you play Gulfstream yesterday by the way did you play the pick five thing a little bit I did I did and got knocked out pretty early believe it or not you would not price horse which is Kinda it'll happen yeah oh yeah it was over quick so it's pretty full paid well for me though for the for the amount of low prices that were that were at three was a signal and the third leg so I know it's funny that that was the that was the horse that gave the opportunity to to to tip toe to turn it into a pick four but yet I do get the sense a lot of people got tripped up either on the in the first leg or the last leg where the two spots we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA get the one side of the other well let's talk about Qinglin go ahead what are you got today seven just my best friend today force MS coming out of the Woodbine Mile Bill Seventy eight to one mile with a chaining hill started the outside somehow he he maneuver beautifully coming into the turn but down the stretch is totally got shut off had nowhere to go I thought he had nice I made a move just didn't have enough to go this horse has been running good all year up at Woodbine five draws the five here which is which is ideal nine to two is very fair price is a loaded racist could be a stakes race disallowance this allowance race but I like plot I think he's going to get a good trip there's enough speed in front where he's going to be right in stock and right behind I mean he's faced some nice horses I think this is the time to to get in this at somewhere of now ninety two would it be beautiful if we can get that and I think we will because you know the outside you have a few horses that are going to take some money especially Colin Road for for Michael Maker Jose Ortiz that was gonNA take somebody coming out of ah graded great three but ms I think is the wholesome and a key on all over in in starting reporter and race seven and Connor Murphy for whatever reason Connor Murphy does not does not draw money and wins I mean he wins plenty does a good job interesting to see Mark Glatt come to keeneland souter shows up here yet pick source interesting ski Churchill last time kind of finished pretty decent but it's a nice horse was nice races earlier in the year so and you got Roselle Rosario on board into feature the feature very nice race today again the the greatest Devali view fulfilled I think by horses winter sunset four eight to one on the morning line think might get a couple of clicks down I mean she's versatile I don't know if she wants to go nine furlongs I think she kinda flattens out at nine furlongs the mile amount of sixteenth which is I think this is her her best distance coming off a win at Indiana ground at any grant she's got a nice post and she's just a nice trip there there's some speed lined up to the inside I think she can get I run and I mean the twelve is going to be flying late this lady the prince a lot for Baltistan she's eight to one I think she comes down from that I can see here making a big move middle of course coming down the lane but winterson that's it for me eight to one would be great I think she gets I run on on on the closers and should sit a nice trip there again for channing hill it's now and Bhartiya earlier to Mardi landed on winter sunset yeah I'm not sure what the price I think she might down from Chad you've got to chat horses that are Ya Chad takes money like you you saw yesterday focus group was was really over bet yeah I like him but it's too crazy I'll tell you what I have a bomb in the second race so a bomber I'm GonNa take just fly the one horse abstinent for Ian Wilkes make third start first time on on the turf going to turns Bravo Bravo couple of wins from six starts the meat this horse broke the last couple of times I starts his career broke out think the inside post and Bravo might be able to as well she's fifteen to one in the morning line you might get fifteen twenty to one hundred Meta take a flyer on her and also gotTa pick for tonight at down coming

"Welcoming Jose Ortiz who is a native of Puerto Rico and his one more than nineteen hundred races in what has been just a a stellar career and that career still going strong and he's with me now here on H. R. N. Jose Good Morning My friend Mike give having yeah. Thanks for taking a little time. I know you're a busy working horses. This morning. Never ends does it does not if you want to be the best which right now you certainly are my friend Brendan. You know it's interesting. I mentioned being a native of Puerto Rico one of the jockeys who mentored you when you came here and one of the people that you looked up to is his hall of Famer Johnny Velazquez who last week set the record for most greatest stakes victories by jockey in the history of the sport and that has to make you very proud. I know that yeah yeah we are happy about it and it keeps going throwing you know hopefully he can give winning some more on winning out much again until you know until heater dyers what makes him so good then you got a lot of these. Atlanta for the sport and I think that having taken to the next level where he's been for awhile you know yeah he certainly he's been doing it for a long time and still doing it at a very high level. How many great stakes victories are you behind him now. I don't know I have made the way to go yeah one day well that win yesterday and the Phoenix was impressive. This is a horse. You've you've been on before you knew him. You get back aboard him yesterday and he's able to hold off Whitmore who was putting in that late run. Take me through the race Jose. Well we broke. We broke very good. expect expecting a much faster pace but they did in in came out of five dollars. I thought they would and I was able to be closer than I than I thought. I was going in two weeks so I think that well We have a very pain trip when I ask him to. Well what they're for me the whole time. You know he's a horse worse by intimacy if that when you were riding him last year and even this year at Saratoga he was trained by Chad Brown now he's trained by Steve Asmussen. Ah when you were riding him before he was always knocking on the door but he couldn't quite get past horses like promises fulfilled you yesterday you beat him and everybody everybody else. Is there a difference. Did you feel something different now with engage than you did last year. He always been a ah very nice or worse. I think some more mature before others on. I think he'd take a while but I think he finally figured out you know. Did you know that Moore was gaining on your yesterday. I didn't knew what Whitmore Kabaya fell somebody coming out. You can tell yeah I could yeah. Did you know you had enough left in the tank. He very game he always has been and I knew what GonNa try but you know something this all horrors you know he's just turned four so there's all live orders season and they are very good. You know they they come in. They coming at you like wait Marino. He's very nice or you know that win. In the Phoenix was part of a Multi Win Day on opening day of Keeneland then you you've had several days in your career where you've won multiple races like that. I asked you what makes John Velazquez so good. What makes Jose Ortiz so good. I don't let somebody out of that. Answer that question. I guess right to be myself on gave that horses the best chance to win but you also worked very hard I mentioned you're out working in horses this morning. I know you're being humble and and that's what's part of makes you part of. What makes you so good but Jose you work your tail off and put me the in in the saddle with you for minute if you will if I can use that term take me through like your routine in your approach to riding races. How do you get ready to go out there. Every day and ride was everything star on the when the overnight comes up so I have to see we shorts on on quantum there I go the R F and and they got the raises and I put him whatever I think they should be and you know I have to talk to a trainers on and follow their their instructions but at the same time I want to I want her to be relax and that's that's what I try to be happy and I think they control and relaxed. We'll give you a running the end of it yeah you know. Johnny will always tell tell me about his different plans that he has going into the starting gate the plan a plan b the Plan C. and you hope you don't have to get any further than that but once the gates open you can listen to the trainers instructions all day long but once the gates open things can change quickly right very quickly. What do you you do at that point. Do you say Oh my God. I gotTa follow his instructions or do you say I just gotTa. Let my instincts takeover in and try to ride this race the way it needs to be ridden now so you've got to let your instincts they over because it's very tough to execute a plan when their plan doesn't work from from the gate you know. Yep You gotta change everything so I think you just gotTa Julia uh-huh. Yeah everything you could do everything changes in and you just have to adjust and that's why I've always said you know jockeys in terms of there's always that debate are jockeys true athletes athletes and I think you know I've said for years but pound for pound jockeys the most gifted athletes that we find in all sports and I have no doubt about it and you're certainly right there Jose. Let's talk about the horses that you're going to be aboard today. You're in all of the great stakes races at keeneland which is to be expected matter of fact. Thank you might be riding every single race at keeneland today. nice to be in demand extravagant. Kid is a horse. You're going to be aboard in the WOODFORD stakes. That's is the first greatest stakes today. What can you tell me about. Extravagant kid very nice hard. I had the opportunity to ride him. One time before and we won he's doing very good very fox. Horse doesn't need to be on the late which is very helpful full on way like junkets. Today we think is very life so right to win all right and then in the next race in the TC a talked to me and I think I'm saying that name correctly but talk to me the horse. You're going to be aboard there. You've been aboard her. The the last two starts second last time out in the Press Kyle downes master stakes on September sixteenth. Tell me a little bit about her. It's very nice to write very easy last time. She has run very very very good. we are expecting seeming to or better than last two times. I think she got shut all right and then the first lady turn our attention there you go to the first lady stakes miss bad behavior for Richard. Balta says the Horse Year aboard. What do you know about her. I won on her Kentucky Down She got some sleep but he's he's also stayed on the race so let's see how they're they're in writing about her because she he doesn't need elite. Also g come come on. We gotta go pole so let a break and make sure shade in a winning position I during your yeah how much different is writing this keeneland turf of course then of course like Kentucky Downs Kentucky down says the undulating up and down configuration. How much different is it run getting more like we do every day. You know saying Kinda you you know over same thing by Kentucky different. Go Up and down left right so I think in Kentucky and it's all about the horse like it you WanNa be okay. It doesn't like nothing you can do about like well. Let's hope that this bad behavior likes the keeneland turf course later today in the classroom breeders futurity Max Field for Brendon. Walsh is the second time that Brendan will give you a leg up in a greatest stakes today. Tell me about Max field. You went on him last time out to very nice coat a win first time out very nicely actually that day a he was a speed favor drug. Nobody was coming from behind and he did which is very impressive to me so I think we have something here. We got very nice coats so hopefully put it together and stay undefeated talk to for to all right and the last one admission office This is a horse who you road last year but haven't been on them for the last four starts you get back aboard admission office and that is in the the shad while Turf Mile. Tell me about him. What you remember about writing him before is on very cool hope to ride very easy going on to be honest? I love him. I think we had a huge show the winds along really how come because I think he's is a nice source if their truck come from behind and here something other threats you about to rush these sorts. BEC- they're stretchy short here. I wouldn't have to we go. We got our loan stretching so I think it was the drug I mean he. He did alright at one eight zero. He don't good with Y'all yup so he's got big right now. You can tell what what makes Jose Jose Ortiz so good. He knows every race that these horses have run before he gets aboard and he did indeed win. Three starts back at Keeneland in the spring which Joel Rosario Dario Award winning an allowance race getting up by neck and admission office the Horses Jose will be aboard in today's Shell Turf Mile Jose. "The race last night and we will talk the the Dick Powell so I won't put do put too much into because we'll talk about it with Dick but you Robertson congratulations to him this hotshot Anna I mean she just it was an as she pleased victory sixty five and just you know I couldn't have been couldn't one easier super super impressive hotshot Anna two years in a row. Oh Talk to me as as we talked with the with Doug she ran very well and the Topeka certainly didn't didn't hold her back. Jose Ortiz come into town to ride and really had no had no answer her when China just cruised up under a Ardo and one how about the log on the board running a mammoth race the rudy the colts neck at the Horse George Duarte these are Concordia visit accordia under Julia Toledo. Although third at sixty three to one didn't do a whole lot I try though because a little bit got it up to eighty seven dollars eighty seven thirty for a buck and it boosted the try because Regal Chan Tim Ham source gotta get a hold of Tim him it timmy hung in in Ohio and kept Breeden Ohio breads and saw things through who well before there was even any hope that gaming would come to Ohio and he does a very good job and is it. He's got started partnered up the at a lot of horses and I think I saw three chimneys to these got the some horses with breath powwow really didn't take the pizza that didn't really work for her so doc hotshot. Anna moves on the trap shot five year old. She's now with record is Gaudy that this point eight hundred over eight fifty fifty thousand and she's one ten of twenty two starts tremendous. I'm a fan

"jose ortiz" Discussed on Daily Racing Form

"Ridden to victory by Jose Ortiz the pedigree she's by go sap route of a distorted humor mayor named Magical World Ninety two by or one on thirteen pace adjusted time form U._S. rating one fifteen raw number for time form U._S.. For Point of Honor Ninety one buyer one thirteen pace adjusted time formulas rating one fourteen raw number for her. This was an interesting race for a number of reasons. <hes> Guarani gets out there sets what I think are soft fractions for this level and at this distance <hes> twenty four and one forty nine into for a half thirteen and two or three quarters they stopped the clock and forty nine and three. She's out there on the front. Yes she's taking token pressure pitcher but affiliate of this quality should just be able to go on with it and she did just that. I found it interesting that she ducked out pre significantly when she was hit left handed by Jose going down the lane now. I don't know to me anyway that signifies that she he was tired. I think she's still green Kim my she. This is our third lifetime. Start her first time going to turns probably the first time she even felt stick left-handed because when you take a look and see usually in an instance like that I'd be looking for a horse to hop back door left lied or I'd. Looking at the final eighth of a mile to see her slowing down significantly that wasn't the case <hes> the final eighth she came home and twelve forty nine compared that to a horse point of honor who came home in twelve thirty two so yes point of honor was finishing better but it's not as though it was coming to a crawl she didn't changed leads back to her left which is to be a positive sign. I think she just green figuring things out now having said all that I don't know that I love her going out to a mile and a quarter. I don't know that the Alabama is a race that would be just chomping at the bit to go and bet her on the flip side of horse. It's like point of honor. I would be all in on that because when you look at the way this race was run. Yes it was a relatively tight field so how far back when she you know when it was all said and done but point of honor came from last was wide going around the first turn she's about three or four paths wide out in the clear a compare Goran who was on lead setting off fractions glued to the rail basically throughout in the fact that point of honor came out. I mean when Goran drifted out there under the left-handed urging. I don't WanNa say the point of honor had to stop running or she had to take up but you know she was. Definitely you can see a little bit of a movement there so she acknowledged that the Philly came out into her. I thought she finished really well into me with Gal about you. Combine all that put it all together. I think point of honor to me is a prime win contender already for a race like the Alabama hopefully she gets there and everything seems okay mile and a quarter that seems right in her wheelhouse Gore on. I'm not suggesting she can't get it but I do wonder if this sort of distance if this is going to be her bread and butter a mile an eighth you know a mile those type races so I don't know what the connections will choose to do. If I were involved in against the only thing I can do in an instance like this. I talked about with maximum security. If I were involved just my two cents Fi were involved with Goran I would probably wait for erased. The CASTILIAN runaround Mile Sixteenth at parks degrade one just continue to add that to the resume and you know that a mile and an eighth is going to be within her scope she can get that and that's the Breeders Cup distaff is run at there aren't racist. This is really run at a mile and a quarter of really giant significant races at a mile and a quarter for for fillies and Mares. I get at the Alabama I get it the Delaware Handicap but really other than that there's really not a heck of a lot. That's run it those sort of distances anymore so I just I don't know what they're really is to gain by running around a mile a mile and a quarter and writes like that because she's realistically not going to have to run it those sort of distances a mile and an eighth of if the distaff is your goal runner anorexic the Castilian slight turn back get a little bit more to turn experience and then decide does she need one more prep before the Breeders Cup distaff or you content just training her up to it you know the two terms is an issue you know she has the ability to sit or go. That would just be the way that I would approach and on the flip aside with point of honor I would just be saying I don't care who shows up the mile and a quarter is going to be my friend. The Alabama is my race to win. As far as the rest of the field is concerned. I spoke about it a little bit when we talked about this race and the preview show off topic Nice horse don't think she's quite as is good these other ones champagne anyone nice philly not a superstar okay. You know this race didn't work effort box. I don't think this is her surface. I think she's four so <hes> really just boils down to those top two horses and that's how it played out Gore on prevail she gets the job done answers the to turn question. I think she just a little bit green. Whether you agree or disagree let me know many video player on Youtube or on twitter at Bernier underscore Matt. I think her ducking out on left handed whip was just should not used to it. I think he gets a little bit more experience. It's going to turns. I think she'll be just fine. "You've got a very very deep strong riding county here but there have been a couple of guys that have just been writing at another level in junior being one of them. I've been so impressed rest with him. Obviously Joel The you know I read and Jose Ortiz Heavier Kesse. Johnny Velazquez has done everything there is to do as a writer all time winningest rider money one and he's still rides with an enthusiasm awesome net frankly is hard to keep up when you have very few mountains to climb sale right and and so to see him plying his trade watching Dylan developed my brothers writer Dylan Davis Villain has is really really put himself in the upper echelon riders and they've done it through hard work and so as a former writer you know doing this as a jockey's agent and with a guy that I feel fits in very well with this comedy. It's fun for me to watch a guy I I have such an appreciation for what I'm seeing and adding ridden with a incredible hall of fame colony through the eighties into the nineties. I really getting a kick out of watching these guys ride right now. There's just a lot of talent here. Oh no doubt and we're off to a to a nice start and that included the two year olds comical. That was a terrific running of the Schuylerville you had. I thought it was notable. Global you know with all these routes that are being run. <hes> certainly notable rich that if you get out on the lead your in you seem to be in very good stead armament yesterday and Gary Gullo how about Gullo with a pair of wins and the two year old that held off the Bruce Levine late charger and there there was a lot to digest yesterday and there were certainly some chances <hes> the you know to score big cue for Duchess View you the State Bread Group of Phillies a big brown bread by golden goose actually and big q with Rosario at but <hes> Sayas was charging that impassable Donna who took a ton of money late and you know she pulled up at the it looked like she was a little bit a heat distress <hes> after the race I gotTa check with Bruce Levine <hes> about <hes> the barn this morning and <hes>. They said she's okay so that's good news and you know Bruce doesn't get the credit he deserves bruce to win with first-time starters all the time and he was so good at preparing nowhere to run and I. I want a lottery system with I there's <hes> so we're not taking the money I went oh she she's good and and you know some people may be don't remember that and don't have as much confidence bruce for that but preuss does an amazing job Gary Gallo getting off the mark like that and you know it brought that to mind for me because Gary and Dominic Lucia were so close in one year dominic. Can I won the first two races of the meat we the early double and I was thinking about that yesterday. Dominic probably would be getting a kick out of Gary went into on opening day and I was happy for him. I thought the the car alright itself. I mean the weather didn't fully cooperate but a terrific day racing comical. He's about as pretty affiliates. You're ever GONNA say I was watching the poster went. Wow this silly. He's got an elegance to her in bouncing her step even at the Walk Fox got great walk and you know and people go to like horse sales and they love the walk that that's what they're talking about this a certain swing to the gate lettuces even at the walk that you'll see if you go to the phasing Tipton two year old sales. I mean a yelling sales appear that you you can pick it out there. There's a certain stride is a certain swing to a gate and she had just said a walk. I was like I I like this Philly and I was very happy to get three to one on her good job and of course not only the Doug O'Neill get a win but have I been sessile and I I didn't get a chance overnight.

If one were to describe the look on the horse's face. It was like, you know, you wanna piece of this because I can go another time around this race. Course I'm ready to do it. One more time. He was ready to go more. What an impressive turf force this. He will be a monster in this division throughout the year, Robert Bruce proved that he could be a monster here too. He ran second this afternoon to bricks and mortar. He was ridden by jockey, Jose Ortiz and earlier, Jeff had a chance to talk with Senate jockey Jose Ortiz, huge runner up performance here Jose just not quite fast enough. I mean not. I vaguely rice, but I had to way he's got the jump on me. But I think my heart month Jose got the bigger. It's coming up in the Belmont Stakes probably going to be the favourite on Tacitus your thoughts coming into that race. Well. I know that was very well. Tried have break on trip. Save a little bit growing both turns on. There's always so much talk about the distance and writing here at Belmont Park at such a unique mile and a half track. What about that having the experience having won this race and being able to write over the track? So frequently thing I have on each. I don't know how many have probably three or four, but he is unique because the only time on the year that we do they might not have other than the Oakland games after that among, but yes, getting to go to with my heart let them, relax. "That's something to keep your eye on for. Sure. All right. The kentucky. Derby is tomorrow. You are aboard the point Lear Tacitus how does the race play out. And who are the biggest threats to you in the race impel really good game winner. They're both very horses. Day are proven, you know, and they proved himself on does very good who else. By mice down darts. Look looking very good on the mound. Lumber will wonder Lucy another. I mean. He's unpredictable. What is gonna happen? He's twenty horse feel going mine on a quarter for first time all of them. So he's not much that I can say, and then hopefully, we Brett good on. We gotta go position nothing. Yeah. And they just did the derby draw the other day, and you got the eight whole is that the sweet spot is that where you wanna be in a race like this with twenty horses. You've got to go from five to ten. Maybe that's good. Not too far to at least on the first day. I don't like to be on this thing jungle, you know, they like a extension gate right there. I like the we in the first game. Okay. Very cool. Well, we have been very fortunate here. I waited almost my whole life here to see a triple crown winner. Now, we just banged out two of them recently do any of the horses any the contenders this year. Look like they have what it takes to win the triple crown very hard to tell. So even right now. So why'd opened that I don't think. I don't know. I'm not sure we're gonna have three Brown win. I I mean, it's very hard to tell before the derby like after the Debbie you can't tell how the whole swing if he wing easy enough. You say, okay. Maybe but it's very hard. I mean what they do is very hard. They got run for mine. Emma quarter for the first time on the carriers and then two weeks later. They got it. Go Mylan eight I think might on three sixteen britney's. But. Yeah. Three sixty I believe you. But but they gotta go to Baltimore. You know, the married on. They got a this all everything happening within two weeks and had to keep training. And after that I had to move to New York and room my on a half. I mean, it's it's remarkable. When they when when we have a trip across that's why don't happen. So many years he happened to have to I'm not row because they were very special hoses American farro justified. But this year, I mean, look, very even. So I don't know. I think they can be other. I'm probably won't have a typical. Yeah. And when you see horses like justify an American pharaoh is it obvious to the jockeys. Like, oh, boy, this is a legit contender here like can the junkies. Can you guys kinda tell well? I mean, you know, most of the time I'm those who were from California. So when I'm when I know them because they were good already. But yeah, we know we know here in. When we have one. It were good on the morning on. I mean, you gotta go with everyday is what bread was very hold on his working. Good. You always. Dead real deal that they tell you when they are real do. He won his first Breeders Cup race in two thousand seventeen he earned the eclipse award for outstanding jockey for being first in the earnings list. And also winning his first Belmont Stakes. He will be riding Tacitus. Tomorrow's Kentucky Derby, it is so cool that I get to say Jose Ortiz. Welcome to first-class fatherhood. Thank you. Thank you for holding. All right. Let's get out of the gate here. How many kids do you have in? How old are they? I had two kids. My oldest one year. About nine months on the they want. He's gonna be five months now. Wow. Brand new. That's awesome. Are you going for the third here? You'll done not sure yet. Did you guys find out what you were having both times? Did you wait until the end of doubt? Yeah. As far as time with on. And the second time we plan to be enough or prize. But I couldn't wait. So we we have to find out to like your style there. All right, Jose, please. Just take a second here to hit my listeners with a little bit about your background. What you do? Twenty five year olds from for ego. My jug, you know, I race horses. I mean, you're doing very cool. And yeah, you and your brother just crushing it right now in horse racing. You guys are all over the charts. What are some of the challenges Jose of being an elite athlete top jockey while being a father? Nice try to make time for for both. You know takes a lot of time on a me in the being jerky. So I had to try to balance to have an time with my kids on my family. Yeah. And I'll tell you what Jose the tracks are much nicer now than they were when I was a kid, and it's very nice to bring your family to now as opposed to years ago, especially Akwa duck things have changed a lot since they have brought the casino win. Do you bring the kids out to the racist? They get a chance to see you in action. They go they go right now, we actually in keenum, and they go once in a while on when we back in New York, they go but mostly to Belmont because closer to a house on and easier, so cool. What is your bedtime routine? Look like with the kids Jose, are you a storyteller book reader, how do you get them down to bed at night, then leader one just go to where we have mom. We hit. His mom the oldest one. I think to better every night. And I don't know we just lay down to watch the basketball games and stuff like that us policy. You know, what I mean, not not a study or none? None of that. Yet. Okay. And as I mentioned there earlier, you and your brother IRA really killing it right now. What is the competition light for you guys? Especially in such a high stakes race. Like tomorrow's Kentucky Derby. Very much year. And we know how to put the business once I on the brotherhood of. I mean, it would be same. We being there before. And you know, it's very competition. Har- these we gotta right. I have to write I'm on my own basically after I in nineteen others rider and tried to beat them all. So it's the competition is very high is Gracie is good to hear. And I mean is that on a running? So it's nice to be there'd be dry. Yeah. I can't even begin to imagine. What it must be like to compete against your brother in such a big race like this. And and now you wrote in probable in the Arkansas derby, and now Iran has picked up the mount on him and tomorrow, you'll be riding the Wood Memorial winner Tacitus headed that come about Jose. Was it your decision to choose Tacitus? Yeah. I chose to write acid. I have three horses actually have because that won't do buy out. So, but I choose to write to so..

Today's guests will be writing in the race known as the run for the roses. Jose Ortiz will be here with me and just a few minutes. The odds on Tacitus are currently eight to one and the favorite in the race Omaha. Just a few horses away from him in the starting gate aboard number five improbable and Jose and Iran have really just been tearing up the horse racing scene. So it is so cool to have Jose Ortiz with me today and horse racing was such a big part of my. My life growing up a spent a lot of time at the Meadowlands racetrack and New York City OTP, which is by the way, the bookmaker in the history of book making that ever went bankrupt. I was at Churchill Downs in two thousand four with my brother and my nephew to see smarty Jones win the race, and we were on the infield. And it was a rainy day, and it was his mess there. But it was a massive crowd. It was quite an experience. "I just had seen in. I was like, I don't I don't totally get it. She's fine. But I have a hard time imagining her winning this race. We'll guess what she came darn close. It was a big effort from her to come from the back of the pack. I feel like a digital distance the way that she finished here. Anyway. Is probably good for. But at the same time some of those other races. I looked at it and said she was just kind of moving up and down. So I still don't have a very good read on her. There's some ability here again, I thought it was a great ride from Jose Ortiz, midnight zoo, John Velazquez had the mount here, she was wide throughout, but I don't think that really cost or too much in the grand scheme of things. I'm not totally convinced that the rails where you wanted to be on the main track on Friday or Saturday and she finished with some interest. I still don't think this distance is ideal for I think she's better going shorter. Probably seven eighths of a mile. I think is best distance. She's going to remain in training. I don't think she can win any year end awards. I would still at least consider running her in the libra if she is all good and sound and ready to roll on opening day. At Santa Anita seven eighths of a mile an age restricted grade, one end you couple that again, you look at it strictly from breeding standpoint, she's already agreed one winner going longer. I'll be by disqualification winning that can tell you. But then all of a sudden if you could add a grade one sprinting just thing that helps her overall resume, I would personally if I had anything to do the horse. I would be pulling to race like that. If she is ready to go if not you put her away, and you bring it back for the big races next year as a four year old and blue prize. Luke prize honest for a minute there turning for home looked like she was involved with a big chance and she just flat out down the lane. I don't think she is as good as those top three very clearly, but she's on it. She shows up..

"She defeats wildcat who comes with a very very nice late finish for Jose Ortiz. At odds of six to one and midnight runs. Third at odds of five to one blue prize rounds at your super fact at odds of eight to one let's discuss monta Moi girl a little bit more. She is a three year old filly and she's done. Nothing wrong. This far she has nine of eleven lifetime. Eleven for eleven in the exact the only loss. One of them was last year is a two year old and one of them was that disqualification placing her second behind midnight zoo, just under three million dollars in career earnings owned by a whole slew of people dubbed monoploy stables LLC, the elk stone group LLC in Bethlehem stables trained by Brad. Cox spread by F PF LLC and Highfield ranch in Kentucky individual by flora is ruined. You can see the pedigree at the bottom of the horse-cart. She's by tap is our that have a Henny Hughes mayor named. Drumet- the flow gave her the perfect ride. But you know, what it is one of those things when you have a horse. Does this upwardly mobile you're going to work out a pretty darn good trip more often than not? But again, this is that trip. I keep going back in there's a theme. It's many of the best horses that we've had past five ten years. It's the American pharaoh trip. It's the justify trip. It's the wise Dan trips the Tappin trip you name it. It's the California chrome trip you go there. You can go to lead if it's given to you. It's the beholder trip. It's the Rachel Alexandra trip or yes, it just off target off their flank and really whatever you're ready to go. You go. She's really there's nothing to knock about her. She's really really strong. You look at some of the figures, perhaps they're a little bit on the light side for this staff. But in the grand scheme of things the ninety six by the one twenty two time formula's rating, I don't know that they they entirely tell the story here. I feel like I don't think she was ever going to lose this race when you watch to travel out there. And I think if they ran to run it again, I know out kept finished with the flurry. But I should say Maan girl was just much the best in there. And look I was trying to beat her because I looked at it and said Abel Tasman, I thought her best was better than anyone else's best. We'll get able to has been in a minute. We certainly didn't get her best Manuel girl. I again, really. I don't have anything to knock. She's just a professional. She goes out there. She gets done. Brad Cox biggest win of his career flurries zero. It's not the biggest one in his career. Boy, all the sudden flow in the past two years got a beautiful sort of resume put together here all those big three year old filly races that he's had with here with monoploy girl. You got the Breeders Cup Classic last year with a gun runner. You got a number. Of big grade ones gun runner really got a couple of nice horses over these past few years and good. He's a nice guy floor. I like him. It sounds like there's a possibility that runs in the Pegasus World Cup against the boys down at Gulfstream Park. At the very least the distaff would be a long-term type of goal in two thousand nineteen for her mama girl will be back. It's like four all going to be back wildcat likely to remain in training. I thought this was a beautiful ride from Jose Ortiz. The pace may not have been just really like smoking up front me consider Twenty-three in one forty seven to twelve for three quarters. So perhaps a little bit far back. But I liked the he just weaved through that traffic on the far turn angled or back down to the inside. She came home and twelve thirty six this is certainly the best. She has looked since she's been here in the United States for Chad Brown. Chad had always spoken highly of this horse and in those three races..

"Jk your your best friend isn't here but there's some other old friends digilent on one of them or do you have i'm gonna i'm gonna be betting the eleven horse visha darrow so there's there's no i'm just joking there's only ten in here this is interesting race i would love love yoshida if iran by i saw jose ortiz said hey jose are you gonna ride you're gonna ride you she'd like you want like he wrote him when you broke his maiden keelan wiretowire there's not a lot of pace in here i think he could be extremely tough he was kinda put into the race but i'm a little bit concerned i think this is probably a prep for supposed trip to ask so i'm all use yoshida a little bit but a little bit a little bit nervous beach patrol obviously looks great horse to catching my attention as camelot kitten obviously i have a little bit of affinity for him being a a full brother to bobby's kitten but i thought he ran well ask time for maker second time for maker iran well in that synthetic stakes we know what maker can do in these these to turn grass races and i think he could be a little sneaky in a find if i'm not mistaken he wanna race here at churchill in the past as a younger horse yeah he did he won the the american turf back in i think there was two thousand sixteen so cable kittens a little bit interesting to me but obviously you gotta use up each patrol and yoshida yoshida for me would be i think you're probably right it's probably not the day for yoshida but for guys like us we've been talking about your sheet since his first race i k mike maybe you could tell me if you think this is too muggy but in terms of betting strategy but i'll sometimes find a few dollars to put on as you know just insurance mental mental health insurance with a horse like their sheet in a spotlight this but i'd wanna run most of my play vast majority of my play more than more than mask in the previous race i wanna run most of my playthrough beach patrol in here.

"Saturday and the one that looks like the most interesting race front betting perspective is the bluegrass that came went on saturday now there is some suspect weather in the forecast you know some snow and rain predicted not gonna figure that into my handicapping at this time because really don't know how to track three playing or what's eventually going to shake out a lexington kentucky on saturday but something to be aware of you know as you see out the track is playing on saturday so let's take a look at the field for this bluegrass obviously a ton of horses are in this race fifteen bedding interests the one also eligible probably not going to start in this race who's going to instead race in the transylvania on friday at keeneland but fourteen horses in the main body of the field and we'll take a look at the time for pace for for this race and as you often see with races that feature such large fields as this we are predicting a fast pace they're a few speed horses in this race to that are one in particular has drawn towards the outside but she's mode number thirteen items connections have been you know a little unsure whether he's going to actually start in this race originally come back to york and they were saying about arkansas derby so not sure if he's actually participating and if he does not start in this race that does take a lot of the speed out of the race despite the large field there on that many confirmed front runners one that's going to be on lead probably california night he's a long shot sporting chance for the also likely to go but not many confirmed front in this race the horse to beaten here is obviously last year's champion good magic and hobie looking to rebound from a pretty disappointing performance last year of last month in the fountain of youth the gulfstream he was a big favourite that day he seemed to be position to make his move around the far turn in in just really flat coming through the stretch a jose ortiz was getting after him early and just look like he didn't have that same lay punch that he showed his two year old sometimes see these horses that were.

"So just a public service for when that one rolls around the another grit time but the eagle on sunday to a again if you're on the west coast it's it's awesome yeah you know you only care about your i guess you could go out that night just come home hammered much again exactly that sounds like a plan and then not nls we wind down with that saturday seven pm d c united and the la galaxy you see what happened to dc united in their last game this was equal parts horrible and great jose ortiz who had been fined just one week earlier for a blatant dive had an even more a far more egregious one of this past weekend blatant dive against vancouver in the box which was somehow these some of these rafts it was awarded a penalty in a game that wound up being onenil dc united converted the penalty and one by the way decades against vancouver vicar hit the post four times in at one and yet it was as blatant died the gets a penalty for her ortiz that gives dc the wind now the reason i say it's equal parts horrible and great is because he was retroactively yeah but the three points don't know yet that's that's done and dusted but he didn't learn he didn't learn from his first retroactive suspension so he was fined i was he spended also i'm not sure i think i know he was fined for the first one of but now suspension for him so we'll see if is slowlearning protest at is you raise a question though even with the retroactive suspension.
