C. A. L. nine reporter Lena nugen has since been moved to a different class teacher remains of the school Los Angeles unified school districts that had no comment on cases from the CBS affiliate in L. A. coronavirus freak out continues the NCAA tournament which they were banning fans yesterday has been completely canceled and so has NBA National Hockey League a Major League Baseball is postponing their season the wait and see what's going on skirmish horn here national canceling concerts now some of this is we talked about some of this is Amy reasonable precaution I thought that the NCAA although I thought it was a little bit of an overreaction of not having no fans was okay all right we'll do this we'll have no fans will just have the basketball games but now we can't even have the basketball games I'm trying to figure out how that's a health risk and so people are saying well these some of these teams playing together well are they not supposed to go anywhere them because they're gonna come in come in contact with all sorts of folks in the ordinary workings of a day are they not supposed to go get a pizza and then that's supposed to go to a club or they're not supposed to go to a restaurant or they're not supposed to go anywhere and by so is everybody supposed to now self isolating self quarantine is that where we're going now I think that's a bit of an over reaction panic is the virus so what's going to happen now is is exactly what the Democrats have wanted to happen the stock market's tanking the economy is going to take a hit and this is not to create panic I'm just telling the it's inevitable when you cancel all this kind of stuff there's no way the economy doesn't take a hit the question is how much of a hit and how long does it last if these cancellations of everything last a week we may be okay I mean this is like after nine eleven of course everything tanked after nine eleven to but you wouldn't have flags for several weeks after nine eleven nobody could fly anywhere and then you know what do you do then and I had that was understandable you don't know when the next terrorist attack is coming but if it lasts for months which I don't think it will I think this whole coronavirus thing will be over by June but we could look at the rest of March April and may as a really bad time in America as far as economy is concerned and I think part of that is because we're over reacting to stuff bugs the question is then doesn't do things cancellations and closures and things like this translate into complete lost money or is it a transference of money what I mean by that is if people were going to go to the NCAA tournament they might do something else instead but when are we gonna see movie theaters closing them ever even heard that yet I don't want to suggest it Disney land is closed down if it if it means you can't go do anything anywhere you can't spend money somewhere then we're going to see the economy take a big hit and I'm not saying it's all about the economy but it's all going to be measured is what I'm trying to tell you now the health experts are saying that you know canceling these big sporting events this is a rodent and wise precaution so we'll go with that but what else are we gonna do and yeah I'm I'm I'm not trying to second guess the the healthcare professionals out there but I'm looking at this from a reasonable standpoint like all this washing your hands which I think is great we got a I mean we're we're in this thing out there in the hallway this this brain here that has the hand sanitizer I never use the thing before last week but now but every time I go by it you know just it's gonna happen now so that's okay but if someone were to come in here and sit down in this in this studio with me read coronavirus washing my hands is not going to protect me still I'm saying what I'm trying to tell you is a lot of this may give us a false sense of security so here's the deal if you are at risk if you're over seventy certainly over eighty I would be real careful about where I go if you're thirty thirty five years old twenty five you don't have really anything to worry about unless you have some health condition cancer diabetes things like that but for everybody else as the Surgeon General has told us you have more of a chance of being killed by the normal flow than the coronavirus and that's not a statistical thing as far as you got a better chance of getting the regular flow it's if you've got one of the other you would prefer if you're twenty five years old to get the corona virus of the regular flow because it's less likely to kill you and so we've run the numbers for you from the CDC and egg starts going up when you hit fifty just a little bit goes up a little bit more and sixty goes up at them and by the time you hit eighty it's about a fifteen percent mortality rate that's pretty significant so if you're eighty yeah I would say if you're seventy or older and certainly if you have health problems at any age you should take extra precaution but as far as I'm concerned you know I told you when the restaurant listings that you're not worried about this I said what about what rotavirus I said I having thought about it I was hungry as I pulled in and get some deep she's always put really put it in our business the last day or so here we go here we go so I don't know to tell you other than I think you should be wines I think you should be you should use some common sense but I don't know that you freak out over everything but there is if we're in full court freak out this I can tell you Chinese now refusing the U. S. army of creating the Wuhan corona virus but if you say Wuhan coronavirus now on record to the folks at C. N. N. N. B. S. N. B. C. you're racist although they have been using it over and over again as a matter of fact let me see if I can bring this up hold on just one second this was from news busters and it's really well I was in a coma all right things are not held a responding geben must be the coronavirus this thing is not of god there it is thank you it's just a little slow I've I woke it up the mean to wake you up this and Luther hold on before you bring that up in there because I want to make sure that I'm not going to play out these things tend to start before one to start I re tweeted this earlier today and I got to go through all my retweets of CNN using Wuhan coronavirus over the last few months this was from news busters and it it's a really a montage of all these people who have been using this over and over again I mean you had Jim Acosta after the president's speech or the president's address to the nation last night and he said he is saying well it smacks of racism to called a foreign virus and then they started going and about you can't even call of the one one one virus or the Chinese buyers and then what you find out is that when you do this they've been doing this all along it's just it did to me I mean to me it sounds like they're falling for the propaganda from the folks in China who were telling them don't do this and I did that that's what troubles me about this if you've got these people who are just absolutely going there freaking out there absolutely freaking out and there's no reason the absolutely freak out right now I just until we do the thing I'm gonna find it for you the moments when the news busters of it will take a quick time out now play for you on other sites they write.

It's probably some weird Bab thing, but Kip entirely that in the last time that we saw Bettencourt on a major league field. That was what back in two thousand twenty thirteen. He was with the brewers and he was terrible. He had some six hundred Opie s back then and he was only thirty one at the time. And since then he has played in Japan and these played in Mexico. And now he is better than ever somehow in Mexico, even though you didn't really hit bear either last year or the year before, so I don't know what's going on with him, but nice to see that he's still around and thriving somewhere as is your old pal. "Easy i think to not not ignore albee's but because a kuna is there in a kunas clearly like but he's the hot shit prospect and freddy freeman is there as one of the best overall hitters in in all of baseball dan's swanson is there is sort of like a more boring kind of player but he was the first overall pick and he was involved in like a highly controversial trade so of course he's going to get a bunch of attention and then of course you have all this pitchers but then the easiest thing to miss that you have this guy who's sort of flown under the radar but yeah i guess he's kind of one of those like good at everything guys that maybe a little easier to ignore just because they're not like leading the regan anyone category necessarily but they're good in every category and at a premium position which is also good at so it's one of those easy to underrate cases yeah now one of the things that was written about obvious before the year and it's absolutely true is that it's it's really hard to make the majors as a twenty year old and not turn out great because of course it just should follow from that in order to make the majors when you're twenty you are probably incredibly talented now of course route netto door made the majors in his age twenty season and he has fallen flat on his face and mariners fans will remember that jose lopez made the majors in his age twenty season and he just currently one year supply of kieran i think it was beer in japan because his career has taken him in in unusual direction so with is there are no guarantees here but for all the attention that's on the braves right now for for somewhat over cheating for having freeman for having a kuni up all the already and all these other players it's it's always who is he and friedman of the players who have driven this team to this point.

"With the angels into those nine he had worked to become a very good defensive third baseman and the mariners were like great you're an awesome third baseman you're in a place second base jose lopez our second baseman is going to play a third base i don't know why that is but we're doing it and we're going to do it from day one of screen training and it's going to go great both players fell on their faces so there are echoes of that now some of that is just the existential mariners pessimism and i mean i don't know how many players have a more similar profile two sean figgins in mariners history than now d gordon just in terms of physical build and skillset yeah so you know who knows to what extent the positional switch mattered for figgins and lopez we know now that it doesn't seem like there's that much of a difference between second base in third base but the timing was interesting and to have gordon do this now it's just like it's i think it's a readymade excuse for if gordon is very bad then we can point to this is why right but you know if there's a a sound grounding i guess for why you think it might work he has played centre what in winter ball at some point and he is one of the fastest players and baseball and that's not everything instincts are a lot of it too but speed is a really great start in if he could be a competent centerfielder than he'd be a pretty valuable player kasese uh certainly a decent hitter first centerfielder so you can see why they would want to do it and i would guess that hill end up making the effort and all of this was slightly more exciting when we thought that the said something to do with show hitani and how it does not his so it was as a little lustre everything the mariners have done leading up to this has lost a little intrigue now because it's not going to be show hitani related but self it is a it's a it's a weird one but you can see why they made this move ah there is more to playing center field than being fast but i think that probably everyone would agree that the most important thing you can be as a centerfielder is fast if you look at the stat guests.

"He said the shots sounded like they came from the area of a taco truck parked in the parking lot he noted one witness outside and indicated they came from the mobile business so why would the folk in the taco truck be shooting i mean unless somebody was trying to rob him anyway police report says four people in the parking lot of the oasis canteen in sports bar were initially detained but a different witness said the shots had not come from someone inside the taco truck but from an older thin hispanic male who shot at the taco truck the second witness said the gunmen then got in a gray chevy impala because you want to be abullah and fled north from the area i just threw and want to be anyway jose lopez gonzalez who was hit in the foot was taken to you i am as medical center by ambulance for treatment of a wound not considered lifethreatening thank god and other man thirty three year old galdino bell to hernandez of little rock was grazed in the right hand by a bullet but he refused medical treatment according to the police report no arrests were made the report does not detail possible motive in the shooting you know i just got to tell you something those taco's must be pretty good because this is the same place where in march of last year fox ecksteen reported guy named freddie mendoza was flipping off the cops spin in his wheels in his truck which wound up veering into the parking lot and mowing down eight people were standing in line at the food truck in the parking lot of the oysters cantina sportsbar now year and a half later gunshots going off now i don't know it could be a different food truck but what i'm saying is given what has happened in that parking lot before at about to 45 on a sunday morning those taco's movie pretty good omen i'll get frankly can i just going to share personal word with you right here right now frankly thinking about i'm kind of hungry jr because i like food trucks already now would i would i patronize the food truck at the oasis cantina sports bar a guy springs road at quarter to three on a sunny morning probably not going to be pretty brave to do yeah yeah you're probably not that time of day blood lubert early in the evening i'm.

"In a sort of larger macro phenomenon the way let the politics of fear and hatred are young used in ways that uh would theoretically serve as the pretence for you know the for example his militarization when people use the politics fear and hatred instead to enact their own sort of like ideologically divisive commitments to doing certain things so you know when people are scared a lots of things happen in terms of the the enacting of public policy that is not at all aligned with something with a an initiative that would be helpful in preventing whatever the catastrophe was that many people of threatened the first place and so so it interesting thing about that right i think oftentimes we we think about that in a with a larger international ngo political contacts write the nine eleven was used as the pretence to enact twitter occupation and warfare across the middle east but uh with interesting thing about the ways that that event also had very real implications for the way that those things manifested themselves here on what was fascinating i that i learned especially being a member of the taskforce wiz that was not just access and community members that felt like the police needed to be demilitarized it was the police so i'm on this task for instant eleven person panel um about half of us are coming from the community space people like myself brian stevenson jose lopez is an activist out of new york.
