Blue domer Dave at blue domer Dave writes in fangraphs and ESPN are only giving the Orioles only a 6% chance to make the playoffs despite being just two games back on September 1st. I mean, sure, the ALE schedule is tough to close the season, but still what, say you buster. Yeah, so those playoff chances are based on statistical algorithm. And I understand where they get how they do their numbers. Here's where the Orioles don't really apply is that they've got a lot of guys on their team who have emerged this year. Veteran guys on their pitching staff and they have rookie you don't really have a track record. So I don't think that the Orioles really fit the classic examples of teams when they're building an algorithm like that. And Dave, I totally agree with you. If you look at it right now, I think the URL is getting in the playoffs. Wow. Today, I think they'll actually get in because they're playing so well. The Blue Jays are, you know, they're kind of hanging in there, but they're not necessarily playing well. I would say I'm just going to throw this out there, Taylor. If they wind up missing the playoffs by one game, I wonder what the conversation is going to be. I wonder, I wonder. I put it like 37 and a half percent. I'm not putting it over 50. Yeah, with the Taylor oriole fan algorithm. I'd put it in higher. I'd put it in higher that they're going to make the playoffs. I actually think they're going to make the playoffs. I love it. Very cool, very cool. Let's go to molten bowl's worth at go Joan 71. Molten writes and you don't think the blue cheese can win the World Series. Why are you so biased? Great question. I think there's a bit of sarcasm there. We've had the bias bandwagon conversation for a lot of years. I picked the Blue Jays to win the World Series before the year started, but Khan Jin Ryu has the injury issues with him and Jose barrios has been a huge disappointment this year. And on top of that, I have been really surprised that the front office during the course of the year did not make a deal to balance out that lineup. It's such a right handed lineup in the postseason. It's going to be tough for that to play. We actually saw that with some of the blue J teams from 2015, 2016, the Jose Bautista teams where when you had a lineup that was so stacked on one side Yankee teams of 2017, 2018, when you have a line if it's not balanced, it's a problem when you face good teams. Tough look for the Blue Jays. Adam, who I'm not even gonna wait until this Adam KP, you know who you are. If Mookie betts were hitting 300 or higher, would he be included in the NL MVP discussion given what he's been doing from the lead off spot and in the field there aren't many guys I'd rather have on my team. Everything's gonna be fine and they needed a walk off Grand Slam from Josh Donaldson the night before and now the Yankees can't get to Jose barrios who entered the game with a 5.61 ERA. Howard Bryant is going to talk a lot about Yankees panic. Are you guys panicking yet? Or are you Taylor wearing your Orioles cap right now sitting there and doing the Montgomery burns hands together? I'm definitely panicked for the Yankees fans. I know the Yankees fans started panicking weeks ago, but you know, it is fun to watch them collapse. This was a tricky situation 'cause you know I don't want the Blue Jays to build the gap on the world anymore. So tough to know who to root for in this one, but I do like seeing the Yankees fans squirm in the wind. Aaron Boone, not squirming yet. Worried about the lead in the division because he had such a big lead. No, this is about us playing well. If we play well, that takes care of itself. You know, obviously, we haven't played well enough in the last ten days. So I think it's more just a rough patch of us not playing well. We have to play better. But I'll sit there and think about this lead or it's about us handling our business. If we do that and play the game we're capable of playing the rest of the way, we'll be in good shape, but we got to do that. I call the area on my face where facial hair doesn't grow, the rough patch, I do not call what the Yankees have been doing for the last month and a half, by the way. Not ten days, this is going back like a month and a half, a rough patch. This is, this is a team that has flaws and those flaws have been exposed and Giancarlo Stanton can not get back soon enough. "So there's, again, always the makings of a contender when you have trapped note, but maybe this will be the year that they finally surround them with a supporting cast. I have two thoughts about this. Well, I have several thoughts but two most immediately to mind. The first comes from front of the show Emma bachelor who tweeted when this deal was announced much as I like to think I'm decently immune to superstitious thinking, I know that I'm not, because my immediate reaction to being approached by the angels is a picture with an injury history would definitely be sorry thing. But the weird vibes I can't. It does feel like the angels pitching stuff and the mets general inability to keep anyone healthy stuff or colliding in a way that seems very dicey, although is not in any way predictive of what will happen with syndergaard in this season. I do find here's the thing that I was struck by, I was talking about this with Ben Clemens in the fairing grass slack, and he pointed this out and I tend to agree. Kind of weird that it's a one year deal, yeah? Yeah, I guess so. Like, I get it from syndrome's perspective. If I am him, I want to reestablish value and show that I can throw maybe not a full complement of innings, but very good innings when I do throw them and the angels have said they're going to go with a 6 man rotation. And so I'm going to be in a position to manage my workload and hopefully stay healthy and then launch into something greater. But I find the decision on the angels part to go one year to be kind of odd because it's like if you're surrendering the draft pick, don't you normally? I think we often see these deals for more than one year. I guess is the point that I'm trying to make. And so that part of it is a little bit strange. I mean, there's definitely the possibility that in July, we look around and we're like, God, the angels rotation. It's fantastic. And there's also the possibility we look around in July and we're like porno with syndrome. That guy just can't help. Yeah, I guess sometimes you see those multiyear deals with a pitcher who still rehabbing his way back and it's like, okay, we'll just we'll sign you for two years and we don't even expect you to pitch the first year or maybe you'll be back late in the first year, but we'll have that cushion and if everything works out well, then it will be good for us because we'll have you for a second year center guard, maybe he feels like, hey, I'm just a healthy starting pitcher. Now I made it back and my rehab is over, but yeah there's definitely a bigger error bar and more uncertainty there. You can look at the rotation and say, okay, Otani, cinder geir Sandoval, Suarez, detmers, you've got a couple other guys in the mix, Griffin canning, Jaime barea. Cobb and Bundy are both free agents. But really, that's another case of like, well, if everything works out, okay, that could be a contending team's rotation, but when has everything worked out for the angels? So I would not be comfortable unless they were decided at minimum one more dependable starting pitcher. And I know that they've kind of talked about short term options and they've been linked to Verlander and again, not that would be a safer bet that center card, either coming off of his TA and at his age, so it would be kind of nice if they signed like, I don't know, Eduardo Rodriguez, for instance, but someone who is still available who does not have some serious injury issues attached to him prior to his arrival on the angels. Yeah. And then brio's, you know, it's an extension, so I don't have as much to say about it. But this is a case where the Blue Jays gave up a lot of pretty good prospects to get brio for the stretch run. They're a team that was kind of like in the tigers boat last off season where they were ramping up and the rebuild was done, and they were going to throw some money around and they did. And then they continued to show their willingness to upgrade the roster in season and brio was a big part of that. And ultimately, unfortunately, they fell short, but they were just tough to beat down the stretch, and they are bringing back most of that team, not the entire team Robbie ray is a free agent, of course, but having brio's who was under team control for one more year to begin with now that they've locked him up long-term. And they don't have to worry about that part of the rotation for a while. So again, they have the great young position player core and the question all along has been where are they going to get the pitching? And they've developed some and they've imported and signed some and traded for some and now extended some and it was actually a really good starting rotation in a good pitching team down the stretch to necessarily start out the season that way. But it was won by the end and brioche was one reason why. Yeah, I really like this. I enjoy it's sort of a funny way to think about this, perhaps, but I really enjoy when guys who have been traded for and to a team had to surrender a good amount in terms of viable prospects and various case top 100 guys to secure then ends up being extended and staying, which is funny because it just is a doubling down of your resource commitment, right? You gave up the prospects and now you're giving up money, but there's something about it that's like, yes, this worked out the way we wanted it to. We really like this guy. We think he's a good fit for the team. He makes us better and we're not going to be intimidated by the prospects that we traded in order to secure his services. We want to keep him around. There's just something about it that I find very satisfying. It's like validating the trade once more, which was a trade we liked at the time, you know, despite it being aggressive in terms of how many guys they had to give up to get them. So I like it. I kind of still would like to see them bring Robbie rape. I don't think that they are, perhaps in the Robbie ray, sweepstakes anymore, I don't know, I don't say that no one anything I just wonder if now that they've extended burritos and they will want to continue to spend on the market that they will shift their focus to the position player side of things because they have indicated that they want to still be active there. But yeah, this is exciting. I like it. Jose barrios is really fun. He's a great pitcher. He'll be good for them for a long time. It's cool. Yeah, I guess if you're a twin fin, you're sort of sad to see it just because you must feel like, hey, we could have signed him to that deal. You know, 7 years, a 131 million. I think people understood why they made that trade because they fell in so far out of the running in 2021 and they got good prospects back, but I guess part of what you're giving up when you trade a player like that away is the fact that the other team gets a chance to keep him for as long as it once gets to talk to him about an extension before he hits the free agent market and maybe the twins might have told themselves, so, you know, we can sign him when he hits the market in a year and a half, but that is not going to happen now. So the twins have to figure out where their pitching is going to come from, but hopefully the prospects they got back will develop in a way that will make it a little more palatable that they won't have Jose breasts. Now I'm Minnesota needs to sign Robbie ray. And then, yes. And then it's all then it's like no trade happened at all..

"Ben, how are you? Doing okay, how are you? Stove. It is starting to get hot. Not even stole league, which is also hot, but yes, the hot stove leak. Pitching market is moving. Move and move in. Yeah, so we got some stuff to discuss today. So we have the Jose barrios extension with the Blue Jays for 7 years, and we have the Eduardo Rodriguez signing with Detroit for 5 years, and then we have the Noah syndergaard signing with the angels for one year for all intriguing moves in their own ways. So things had seemed to start out slowly and we wondered whether the looming CPA negotiations would slow things down. But not in every case, at least it seems like some teams and players are motivated to get deals done before that other deal gets done. Yeah, I think that we had talked about the possibility of some of the non Marquis guys going in this little bit if they found a deal that suited them, although I didn't think that it would be like the Rodriguez's and the cinder guards. I was expecting we'd have like a flurry of reliever moves in this early going. So this is a higher profile of player and a potentially more impactful profile of player just by ritual starters instead of relievers than I was expecting. But it's nice to have a little transaction news to Toyota. So yeah for what might be a long couple of months. Numbers, 13 and 15 on Ben Clemens's fan graphs. 50 free agents list. So let's talk about Rodriguez for a minute 'cause this is one of my favorite off season things when a team to use an old effectively wild reference turns the corner. You know, when you exit the rebuild and you signal that you are ready to compete by making some big free agent splash and Rodriguez on his own may not constitute a big free agent splash it sounds like the tigers are continuing to be in the hunt for other top players. They've been linked to Carlos Correa via rumors, but this is a pretty significant signing and we talked about it last season that the tigers had turned the corner without everyone noticing necessarily, but they started off so slowly with an 8 19 record in April. And not that April doesn't count or that you can toss it out entirely, but they were a winning team from that point forward. They trailed only the White Sox in record among AL central teams after April. So again, like they seem to have the makings of a competitive team already. And now it seems like they are ready to spend. Maybe not to make ilitch levels, but at least to Chris ellich levels, I guess we'll figure out what those levels are. But this is technically a 5 year $77 million deal. There are some incentives there that could bring it up to 80. And there's an opt out after two years. So if things go well, then Rodriguez could test the market again when he's still 30 because he has only 28 now, or maybe he'll just be with the tigers for the long haul, but either way it's one of the things that they need it because they have this young exciting rotation with scuba and mice and Manning and those guys all showed promise at various points. But they needed some innings, they needed someone dependable to round out the rotation and Rodriguez has had his issues in his ups and downs, but he's coming off a good year at least if you dig a little deeper than the surface. That's because I'm sure that there are some tigers fans who are looking at this and thinking what we got a guy with a 4.74 ERA and I'm supposed to be excited about that. But the peripherals are strong. Yeah, he had a career best I believe in strikeouts and a career low walk rate and I think that the tigers infield does not like especially Sterling their defense generally is kind of below average, but it's not as below average as Boston's was this year. Good God, Boston. So you might expect that some things will kind of rebound for him. If things shake out well, he had, he had just like a ridiculously high bab allowed, I think when Ben wrote about it, it was second worst in the majors. And so yeah, 360 six. Yeah, and so and he did that despite having fairly normal contact quality. It wasn't like he was giving up a ton of hard hits or anything like that. His hard hit rate was below average. So I think that, you know, when you put him in front of a marginally better defense, and you know, one that could get say better if Carlos crayons part of it. And maybe a better park too than the old lefty and Fenway situation. Absolutely. And so I think that there are a number of things here that could move even his surface level stats in a good direction in a hurry and you know, when you look at those zips projections for him, they're pretty optimistic. And like you said, if things go well, he has the option to test the market again, but if things go well, maybe he looks around and was like, I am part of a resurgent Detroit tigers team and the skin is stay put and help them win some playoff games. So I really like this move for them. I think like you said, they have these young, starters, I think, having a guy who is reliable, who ended up being very durable this year despite missing an entire season because of heart concerns..

Farmer i mean he was born in one thousand nine so he's not that young but he's still. I mean if actually that. Read steve really. Isn't that young but do have some really good prospects like hundred rain coming up. The jonathan india is is the guy that they brought up this year they and they also have shogo akiyama who a good outfielder forum is just right now with tyler. Knick win and then center tyler. Aikman's a great defensive center fielder allocates. It's as simple as that for the American league cy young award or not cy young award the american league rookie of the year. The award was predicted to go to randy arose. Raina i mean. He was the number one prospect in all of baseball. He got off to really slow start and who didn't get off to a slow start. Els all these garcia at the at a texas. I think he has a pretty much locked up. And i think i mean like he could hit thirty home runs this year. He's i mean but he is a twenty eight year old rookie. So he's like right in his prime. You could make an argument. For like casey mayes or luis garcia at a houston. Honestly like i would probably go with luis garcia but i do think that all these garcia kinda has locked up as of right now randi arena a little bit of dark horse out in the al accu battle a great a great option as well but in the grand scheme of things. I don't really think that it's much of a real real race in the american league wild-card much like i don't think it's any kind of erase. Really four. Eighty buddy to win in the al other shohei otani in that at the i mean itani has elite league in home runs and he's also their number one starter. It feels like he's playing. Mlb the show like legitimately. You can do that on. Mlb the show. And i try it like dynamic difficulty. My is on everything. Like i'm playing it like everybody else. And oh my gosh. It is so hard to be shohei ohtani. I don't know how he doesn't out in the nfl. Though it's it's different because death really. The front runner diocese absolutely the front runner but he was out for a while. And did he give enough space to like. Did he leave enough space. Open for a A max muncie. I mean maximum. See quietly leads everybody in be war and left handed. Slugger has a nine seventy one opie s escape to bolt capable defender at multiple positions. You also freddy freeman you. Also kind of have trade turner. Turner is in the batting title conversation right now. Some dark horses. I mean buster. Posey's having a great year. Kris bryant was having a great year bryce harper. I've been kind of making a push for bryce harper. You can also make the case for joey votto also nicholas cassiano says well but neither of those guys were really getting much love in that aspect. But i think that i mean. Turner freeman muncie. Those are all very good options. Battiste definitely does not have this locked up like shohei does. It's going to take a lot. I think for show to lose it and fruit to go to to guerrero as good as guerrero has been this year. Now we're going to take a short break at least for you guys for me. "Stanton glacier seemed like they're not elevating the ball this year. That's why everyone's home runs or down and they're having so many grounders in double plays. Does the nerd tests. Confirm this and one guy is one thing but the whole lineup doing this. That was his questions. Doesn't understand why it seems like everyone in the lineup is now hitting so many grumball's the data however does not really support that. The team is hitting many more ground balls. Even though it does feel like that stanton. I looked at. The numbers is the biggest difference when you look at his career to this year. But it's actually less drastic when you look at his numbers since he joined the yankees in two thousand eighteen But going down the list. Dj lemay who this year has hit fifty three point eight percent graham balls career to this point fifty three point four percent so we talked about this last week. it was. it's more him not being able to barrel up. It's the exit or he's not talked about it with derek from talked about it you broke it down but we talked about it even a little bit before that but yes you guys went into views of three or four. He's he can't. he's been in fastball. And not he's getting be on fastballs in the middle of the plate which is definitely problem. Stay in forty nine percent ground ball rate forty two point six percent in his career judge forty two point three percent ground ball rate thirty nine point three percent in his career glaze over forty one point five percent ground ball rate this year. Thirty seven point five in his career. Gary is actually hitting fewer ground balls. Which makes sense. Actually that i mean when you look very yeah when you look at these the i mean the test does support this. They're small percentage. It's within five percents couple grumball's though when you think about it if it's a handful of ground ball it's funny thing is the funny thing is is when you look at this and then you see that gary is actually the opposite. I would have said that. Well look at the numbers to as a team. Forty four point three percent ground ball rate. And they're the team from two thousand eighteen to two thousand twenty so some different players but the team hit forty two percent so they are hitting two percent more ground balls this year than they did in the last couple of years. That's not such a drastic difference. That where rob justify like his his take is justified. It felt like all they were doing is sitting week grumbles for three straight months. That's not even week. Grumball's i mean. Even some of these double plays. I mean stanton the other day hit the ball frigging hard just right at right at a defender and it was easy double play so but you know in sunday's numbers riding about hard the number of it it's like oh it's nine more grumbles. It's not a crazy amount. Whatever i don't know if it's nine but you know what i'm talking about. It's a cup it's a couple of grumball's more when you turn those ground balls. Though into double plays a lot of them have been and when you translate that that ends a lot of innings. Well aaron boone said that good teams grounded double place okay next question's from brock leatherman with cashman's kinda bad ass additions of rizzo and gallo since we aren't paying jack for either. Let's say the yanks make a decent comeback. During the second half do we still can both baboon and cashman. I'm feeling upper. Management is already eyeing boone's replacement. So i feel like he's gone the day after we lose the lds assuming we can get past the socks. I think we should sign. Rizzo longterm not sold on gallows home run or strike out approach even though his bp is higher than mookie but with miss the mismanagement of the bullpen and the lineup. Cashman still gone as well stuck between this being his redemption deadline or just common or just common sense trades that really any. Gm would make. I've been high on kashmir until the realization. Nearly the entire fan base had. When nearly the entire lineup was hitting sub. Two hundred love the pod. Keep up the good work so it's question is. Is there a scenario. Where boone gets fired ashman stays said. We've said the two are tied. We've said the tour type but we've also that cashman's definitely the harder one to get rid of. There's no doubt about it. There's you know if. We're looking for a scapegoat. It could be. It could be boone. Cashman booth existed for a long time. This team doesn't like seventeen years old yet. They don't like to make changes they. just don't. that's not something that especially post position level of. Brian correct so absolutely. I could see that happening. But they are tied because cashman's decision and kashmiris decision. Making has been tied to aaron boone. In in many of the cases cashman was also made some great moves. I mean we could. We could crush him for for not being able to identify a starting pitcher at the trade deadline. All we want it's valid. it is valid. He's done some good things on the relief market so far against small sample size. Not gonna not gonna overreact to the good stuff. Just like overreacted. The bad stuff but klay homes has been good and they're using him in higher leverage situations than louis esa was ever used. So i understand that plus the arbitration. He's in control. I understand that. Move when you break it down. I do understand what that was. Not a direct move but it was correlating move essentially to clear space for For the other guy. Do you think cashman's additions of gallow and rizzo. I'm sorry i forget if i've already asked you this question. Do you think that was him. Admitting that the he the team he built was drastically flawed and it needed to change or was that just him saying these are the best guys available for a cheap price. I gotta get them. I mean i think you have to if you listen to the To to the birds and and and all the rumors that are happening that they were after gallo in spring training as well so yeah from from what they from. What you know is is in the wind. They've been attempting to To get callum and gallows been rumored for as you're kinky for. It seemed like for the past three years. The trade deadline as well. Wasn't he going to be traded. There wasn't the andrew miller wasn't like literally wasn't he possibly going to get traded for andrew miller federal government seems like he's been every trade deadline talks Since he's been around so anytime you have a guy that's like there's a connection also to new york's like drew up a yankee fan like all these things like their immediate immediate added into the trade deadline but if if he's not able to identify that the that the lineup was unbalanced based on the production that happened in the first half then. I don't know what's happening so so. Yeah of course. I think that he saw opportunities to secure to left-handed bats rizzo and gallo and the fact that he was able to do it. No money like that's where that's where to me. Cashman comes in and works. Works is Yeah works as wizardry and is able to get these these guys over here. Still under the The confines of the luxury tax threshold. Which is what he's been working on for years now. We know that that's what that's what the organization has has clearly stated but it didn't affect what they could do at least not on the offensive side. I don't know maybe because there's there's been. There was a lot of reports written after the deadline that the yankees were heavily and untraversed story and in on jose barrios in the price was too high moneywise to that they could not get those teams to eat enough money to make make it work financially. We'll find the fact that they didn't trade story and they got gal. Those were the two or if it was story and rizzo either way. Both guys are a better fit than story would have been Well especially dating yet gallo for story and we had for free if you could trade for story though that moves gleyber to second base lemay First base right but again doesn't really doesn't really yes. It changes your light up on a day to day basis but this is a much better fit the way that it is now. Plus it allows you for the flexibility that you would not have if that were the case. Yes voight also being there. Lemay you being there but the fact that you have a lefty bat. Rizzo who's got the playoff experience. He's got you know the clutch gene..

He's gonna be out lots and lots of money. Yeah so much money. He does that every year and he does it with a different team. Every year. it's been the yankees was like yankees last year before. Actually yeah yeah well this year. I think he's really going to be in trouble. Because i have a feeling. The dodgers are probably gonna win the world series. It's pretty good chance. It just got better is what i'm saying. Okay so like you said well hold on. The blue jays picked up right. Handed pitchers jose barrios and brand hand The nationals like. We said they dumped salary. Sterling marseille and yang gums. Go to oakland. Lester goes saint louis. Schwaiger goes to boston. The mariners you're saying made some subtle moves which is true Diego castio moves from get. They got him from the race for a reliever in a prospect. He's ryan pitcher in case you didn't know those. Are you talking about earlier. Yeah that's right and you said he's not there anymore. Yeah i still. I still have kiara up. Let's see what is this area right now. The ego castio. Or does he like to something one. Seven two two seven two two seven two. Well and i'll i'll tell you this. Though he did blow save the other day he gave up a walk off home. Run to join hyme in the tenth inning against the rangers. So there's that but anyway okay. It's gone up now. Yeah they also get abraham toro and Joe smith cat subtle. So we've noticed. Those people are one thing. I i did laugh by joe smith as golly. I hope his pitching his as boring as his name. First off and has been. He has gone three innings. Not giving up a hit or a run or walk. So that's been outstanding. Um your that's pretty good. This was a big deal for mariners. "I think there's a lot of folks i get. Why that had these. You know visions of something really big and really impactful something that could really change the entire dynamic of the division race in the wildcard reysen. Well that really didn't happen. I think there's a lot of folks who took the to moves the reds made with their bullpen adding three relievers. and it on some payroll. I think many view that as maybe a precursor of something big to happen. I think it is fair to feel underwhelmed. I think it's fair to feel disappointed. I think it's okay. I also think it's fair to believe that this team still has some upside because you know what good thing really happened today. The schedule which gets easier here of the final couple of months. Well just got even easier. The minnesota twins they play them next week traded dudes jose barrios gonna pitch for them next week the pittsburgh pirates who have been awful all year long. They've gotten worse traded. Adam frazier traded francis rodriguez. They got games coming up with the chicago cubs who they've already kind of kicked around this year. The chicago cubs and the cincinnati reds played six more times. They've got a ton of games still with the pittsburgh pirates. They have a ton of games still with the washington nationals. For at least at the same time they do have games against the dodgers who got better in the white sox have gotten better white. If are you ready to play those two young guards next year. This trust me when the trade start it like yesterday. With adam frazier moving from pittsburgh to san diego. It's gonna lead to more traits. I think there's going to be more baseball and more basketball trades today before we get off the air. I so we will. We will pay attention. We will keep an eye on everything. And the moment anything happens we will We will have it for you. Because a lot of names out floating around you know in the case of the dodgers max scherzer craig kimbrel. Jose barrios in the case of the lakers. My god just about everybody in the league everybody in the league somehow been linked to the lakers at one point or another all right coming up next on. I've actually got. I came up with some. You don't sleep you would you call yourself an insomniac hundred percent definition of one. I've got some new tricks that that have been attempted. That's bardo because it sounded like kfc a little bit too much all right so John has trouble sleeping. He's not a good sleeper. And i always worry about john in this case because you know sleep is important nicely for good ten to eleven hours. I love sleep. I think it's unbelievably underrated. John sleeps like three hours night last night as he says he got. Our last night may hang on sleeping pills and slept six hours. So there's some. There's some ideas i wanted about. Sorry you may have tried. Some of these tried everything but go ahead. I'll tell you specifically tried what you're talking. So there's a there's a hormone produced by the pineal gland in the brain and it creates something called melatonin does melatonin as a supplement. Work for you. Melatonin is would be the equivalent of you taking one baby aspirin for a headache. It does nothing. Melatonin is is very small. It's herbal. it's a very small for a guy like me okay. And are you going to tell me that yesterday morning? So I wake up. I had a game at 11 45, and then we get the 9 25 weather update. Your game has been rained out. Shortly thereafter, the Cubs announced. Their game is postponed. It did not pour all afternoon. Did it rain by you Drizzle all day, but not but it's completely playable out south as I was in the south suburbs in the city over the weekend. Very light rain. They had a chance to get that game in. I think they woke up on Sunday. We are going to get our ass kicked today again and we are out of here and the Cardinals are banged up. Molina's foot's bothering him. Wilson got hit in the head on Friday. They had all that drama on Saturday. Done. So that be so Sunday night Baseball became the draft. Exactly Okay. Yeah, Much better TV. I guess much better. Just just That's not how you want, but it's so typical of the Cubs, though. This is the way the season's gone, right. You just want to play it out. Hammer. The Cardinals have someone now we're just gonna just We're just gonna wash our hands of this and start your vacations started. How did you call it? Cancun 123 King coup. That's it. Toto won't bother you for until Friday. I know that we're not supposed to talk about the tenured professor. That is David Ross because he's great because he's you know, he's a guy that was a catalyst for the 16 championship team. But what do you think about his first half? Does he? Does he have any letter grade for you? Just based on this roster. Yeah. F. No, I wouldn't give him a D. I probably would give him a C. They got off to a okay start. When you in totality up till May they hit a harder schedule they had injuries. But I don't care who you lost because the White Sox lost Robert Jimenez Grandal Moncada is dealt with injuries. Uh, Kolpak was done. They just keep losing guys, and they just keep finding a way to win Boyhood. He signed me up for Professor caps class over here because he is an easy greater What I tell you what you talk about Grading on the curve, Okay, I'll give him a C minus. I mean, They were in first place You show up in. You don't have to do any work. And you know you're getting two C minus. It's amazing, Jim. Low fever and Tom trouble, horror listening and they're thinking, man. You wore our ass out for years. Where is our C minus? They never got a chance for the C minus. Well, their teams were just God awful. This team is at first three weeks ago, the fevers team was not got awful. Don't do that. Now. Don't his last year, he went 84 78 good and they fired him. I don't don't do that now. You once said about trouble. Horn meeting the guys over at the firehouse. That's fine. Yeah, that was a joke, But I mean, But listen, Where's where their C minus is? Where is their C? Plus is I I I just believe that anything else if you lose if you underachieve, you underachieve as a team. There's not Ross over here. The players over here jet over here Everybody loses. Everybody remember David Ross is supposed to be here to be able make a difference because the Madden experiment wore out. Enough of the championship manager. Too much Grab ass too much dressing up on the plane. It's time for a new voice. How's that new voice working the new voice of the Cubs as Willson Contreras? That too. It is it is. He's telling you the truth. And then you have Ross because, Rosten said, Now Contreras is in the wrong Come on, man. I knew this all along. When? When Ross was hired, I said, You know what? David Ross is a transition to a better manager. That's what I thought he he leaves the gate leaves. The game works for ESPN comes back because he knows a lot of these players and this team has not responded to him either because they built him a team that wasn't designed to win. David Going to pay you well. You are going to have to deal with a whole bunch of you know what? Because that team is built to fail. I said that to you two months ago. That team was built to fail. So when everyone was screaming, and I said, Okay, let's let this play out. And if you're still in first place in the middle of July, go trade for Max Shires or Jose Barrios or whatever pitchers going to get moved. Let it play out. Well, we let it play out. They lost 11 consecutive games. That's unconscionable with that talent to the leader of the 16 team. He can't even get to those guys. Does that say that? They need an enema. I agree. Now you want him to oversee this process? Yeah. I don't have a problem with him overseeing it. May I think David is a smart guy. I think he knows I'm running out Jake Carey after he's done. Trevor Williams to lead got appendicitis. He ain't very good. Alec Mills as pedestrian as they come long Reliever Al's ally, I think has a chance to be a good pitcher, but he's not there yet, and I got one good guy, Kyle Hendricks. That's it. Come on, man. That team was built to fail. That's just a fact. Okay, well, just just understand, like I would have done that to one of my guys. David Ross. It was asked to manage this ball club and make a difference, and we haven't seen it. Look, you can't get through all the ballplayers. You can't get through all the bad pitching. But what about the offense? How many? How many hitting coach? Is he going to fire? And when can Ross be able to influence raw, you know, like guys like Bryant and Rizzo to change. You see any difference in how the bias from a couple years ago to now? Still swing out of his ass. Agreed. Still you given that 200 million? I'm not are the White Sox this good because of T L R. "Making a solid outfield. That but a must for the second half i. It's a solid outfield. But they just can't like they got. They got to be a little bit better. Cleveland could also use a little bit of starting pitching depth even with zach please set to rejoin the rotation from the injured list like that. That's just the thing trista. Mackenzie isn't doing great this year. and i'm not gonna call him a bust at all I mean he's better than everybody who we've ever seen like more than likely if you're listening to this podcast. It is very likely that tristan mckenzie could strike you out. Six times in a row is just the i. It's just. he's still very young and he still has a lot of control issues. And that's okay. And that's why they. The cleveland has kind of been a little bit hesitant to put him back out there after after the first half of this year. But with eddie rosario being out that could mean david peralta could be a very good fit now. David peralta right here is like this season. He's doing pretty is actually doing pretty good. If i if i have to say so myself. He's hitting two fifty four. Which i mean isn't great but he does have forty. Rbi's on the year he has a ee has a decent on base percentage at three twenty two as opie s right now is his opie s is over seven hundred is higher than what the they have their he can potentially be a d. h. Kind of a guy Four he absolutely be a. d. h. Style of player for cleveland. If eddie rosario does come back. I mean he is technically leftfielder. David peralta is i mean and so's eddie rosario. But cleveland has always has been struggling for years in the outfield Tyler quinn who seems to be doing very well in cincinnati He was a great option for one year And that was the year. That cleveland had a really really good That those cleveland had a really good outfield With him michael brantley. And then i believe it was jay bruce In right field that year and like and then all of a sudden brantley got hurt. The cleveland in resigned brantley Knick win ended up struggling for a couple of years jay. Bruce wasn't resigned. And then all the sudden cleveland's outfield was barren. And you had bradley's zimmer out there shrine to do all of it himself it felt like with with a rental basically so he gave it all to. I think would be an awesome pickup for cleveland Especially with them struggling as much as they had been without. Rosario in the lineup like that is that is glaringly obvious. out in the al. Well we we've talked enough about american league teams Astros could use some relief pitching so could the athletics. The mariners could use a the mariners probably could go out and get nelson cruz but they also could potentially add a outfielder or designated hitter on an expiring contract because if they go and get a rental that is on an expiring contract that they aren't gonna wanna sign because they don't want to block the path for guys like julio rodriguez and jeered kalinic nelson. Cruz is a great fit for him or for them. He is a beast hitter. Still the mariners are in contention angels. I feel like it's really obvious. They they need to go out and get starting pitching danny duffy for the royals would be probably their best option. Just because duffy is not going to be in the playoffs. His contract is expiring. It'd be a really good pickup for the angels. He's a very establ-. He's an established pitcher and established ace. And i think that i really think that if he does go to anaheim then that would be a very very good option for four kansas city. Excuse me kansas city could get a decent option for Decent package four danny duffy. I think for the mets. They could also use a little bit of starting pitching. But the mets op. While the mets offense has struggled for most of this year but recent setbacks for carlos for both carlos carrasco and noah syndergaard have been definitely the punch in the gut. I think that new york has because while the in let me let me say this when healthy this mets pitching staff is terrifying. They have jacob. Degrom is probably the best pitcher in baseball. These probably the best pitcher that. We've seen in baseball sin in my opinion since probably prime pedro martinez at the very at or even. Maybe even a prime even prime randy johnson. I think i personally think martinez was a little bit more impressive. But that's the sides the point but the mets also have a lot of talent in this lineup. If linda can bounce back. And pete alonzo. Dominic smith can continue their recent production. Their offense is probably going to correct itself without any major acquisitions. They do have a lot of talent there but they could potential potentially go and get jose barrios from the twins. Now berrios is an absolute stud. And i think that if they do have to trade four jose barrios. I think they're gonna probably have to get rid of carlos carrasco. I think that. I honestly think that if if the mets were to try and trade four jose barrios. I think the mets are going to be giving up to you on walker a. or carlos carrasco and a couple of prospects because that's of that is a beast of a pitcher In seventeen games so far this for the last place minnesota twins in the ale central. He is a seven and three record with three thirty six. Era in a sub in a one ten whip like he. He's a stud An aside from getting shelled against Like the white sox. A of are not too long ago like he. He's he's a very good pitcher like he easing absolute stud And he is. I believe either getting ready for arbitration or is arbitration eligible Ed because of that. I think that he is getting to be. I think jose barrios is going to be a absolute. He's going to be stud for years to come. I mean he's twenty seven And if i think if he goes to the mets then i don't think it. I think that the mets are than a. If they get healthy than they are actually a juggernaut that could compete enough to where they could have a A three man rotation but just throw a any number of those guys for three four two two three innings and just have a win every game because you have the best pitching rotation in all of baseball. I think that would be just hysterical. The braves are up next in my opinion they they're i. I agree with feinstein here. The braves do need a too big bat. The braves have a couple of options because that does sound vague. In who they can acquire in a perfect world a- leftfielder would be the ideal candidate but atlanta could also go and add a third baseman and move austin riley to left either way they do need an additional offense of weapon and it's very very clear so he so finds means suggests that the the braves go out and get joey gallo and i. I don't necessarily love that. I don't. I don't like the way that i i don't like the way that joey gallo approaches. approaches his swing. I think the. I think his swing path leads to way too many swings and misses for me. But that's that's just me personally. How i like to how i like to watch baseball. And if i were in a gm situation there. i wouldn't be building around eight offense like this. I would be probably trying to be doing something a little bit differently than than other guys. But i do like that fit because joey gallo is a huge offensive weapon even with the strikeouts and because he he walks a lot any..
