"Com, and this is Wednesday. It's the first day of reported practice. You know the drill by now I've been doing these for a while and this is a big one. This is a big one the big game coming up this Sunday one o'clock off in Baltimore Maryland the Baltimore Ravens in the Pittsburgh steelers at Mt Bank stadium, we eight five and one raven six in his dealers. You don't get much bigger than this in a week eight matchup I'll tell you that right now. But what we always talk about on this podcast, if that's right injuries, we talk about the injuries we talk about injury reports. Let's start off in I always say every weekend. I'm going to continue to say it every week so that all the people that are out there listening understand this one simple fact. Don't put much stock into a Wednesday injury report a least for the Pittsburgh steelers. Now, for the Baltimore Ravens, that's a little different. Why will the Baltimore Ravens are coming off of their by week? So you have a player that is not practicing after having a full week off. That means that that's probably a legitimate concern in some way shape or form. Now maybe it's something like illness or or what have you but ultimately, if a player that's coming off a bye week, which the Ravens are on week seven, that is a little. Bit of concern absolutely a concern. But let's talk about the team that matters the most sophisticated steelers here is there Wednesday. October twenty eighth injury report first and foremost let's throw out those players that are not injury related. The players that are not hurt but they were given a day off for whatever reason those players would be. We know number seven Denver Office Burger also, Dave Decastro, not injury related. So the guy that missed the majority of training camp with a knee and also missed last not last week with the week prior. Week six against Cleveland with a an abdominal injury he is not injure related given a day off and Steph onto it. They've been doing that with him. All season seems to be working out just fine to it. Is another one that was given Wednesday off outside of that boy was that a long list of players that did not practice or participate. Here we go. Ready. All right. Let's get this show on the road. deontay Johnson. Did not practice on Wednesday because of a toe he said to media earlier this week or maybe was in the post game I'll have to double check that he said it was an ankle as why he left the game on Sunday in week seven in Nashville. Tennessee titans. Whatever it is is a to-. He's add foot ankle and then back injuries all season I'm not sure if this is something to be concerned about knowing that he has the history that he does so far this season I would definitely keep an eye on this injury had coming off of a game where he led the steelers and receiving over ninety yards two touchdowns you hope he's okay and you hope he can play against the Baltimore. Ravens because they're going to need all the weapons they can get Juju Smith, Schuster Mrs Wednesday with a knee injury did not participate in practice. We've seen this before don't put anything into this. I wouldn't say until he misses a Thursday or Friday. Jordan dangerfield was added on Tuesday during my Tomlin's press conference. He said he had a quadricep injury. He did not practice did not practice at all keep an eye on him. He's their special teams captain. So if you lose Jordan dangerfield that can be a significant injury. MARQUEES pouncey. He did not participate in practice but now with a foot with been labelled as an elbow to other players missed with what they're labeling as an elbow tackle, Alejandro Villanueva and Eric E. Bron. Chris warmly was added just like Jordan. Dangerfield was he left the game with a knee injury? He did not participate. There's no word on the severity of that injury and then someone that a lot of people were kind of injury report comes out sometimes you're looking for that one player. Okay. Who that one player did he does he practice or didn't he? That would be Mike? Hilden Mike Hilton the cornerback who has a shoulder injury that was suffered against Cleveland in the fourth quarter and he did not play in week seven against Tennessee the hope was it. Maybe he will be back, he did not practice on Wednesday now again, take it with a grain of salt. A could be back on Thursday could be back on Friday. I think that if Mike Hilton were able to practice fully on, Friday, he would probably be good to go. The question is, can he get back on the practice here? We know that Mike Tomlin in his time in Pittsburgh but especially, in recent years, he is not one to have a player play a game on Sunday if they can't practice during the week that is just fact next. Some good news on the injury front. Yes. There was some good news, a lot of names there, and that's Derek what. Derek Wa we know that he suffered a hamstring injury in week three against the Houston Texans in the wall. Any missed some time that they had that week four bye week, and then he missed the week after came back. But he re aggravated that injury he's missed the last few games but he's he was back as a full participant on Wednesday I'm GonNa say this again, the steelers don't use a lot of fullback. But what they can use Derek. Watt for especially Jordan Dangerfield is hurt is on special teams.

"Pittsburgh steelers, fans. It's almost game time and you got the through. Yes. Myself Brian Anthony Davis from behind the curtain and our XS and OS expert. Mr Katie Smith Kevin. How are you this evening doing great Brian Good to be with you man why I'm so glad you're here too because we're finally going to get a chance to talk about some real football. Again I know we had to go a long time in what seemed like the longest off season as well. We started rolling and then we run into the Kobe situation with the Tennessee titans and I promise that's all. We're GONNA talk about that situation in this in this little segment of our podcast platform and I gotTa tell you. I'm so glad to stop talking about that and start talking about some real football once again, and the Philadelphia Eagles are coming to Heinz field in front of fifty, five, hundred fans, I'm really excited about that Kevin what's your thoughts and what about the fans is it going to make a big difference to the team? I've been surprised by how loud these small numbers of fans have been at games I think it would be I mean I think to play in front of just anybody live will be exciting for these guys. You know I don't think that that stuff determines the outcomes of games emotion and Adrenalin usually wears off pretty quickly and then it gets down to basic fundamentals but just the just the terrible towels in the in the stands and a sense of normalcy I think that'd be great for our guys. Back in July Michael Beck and myself had an interview with Jordan Dangerfield of the Pittsburgh steelers and we asked him 'cause we've had this question all the time. 'cause the fans love when you hear Oh Mama when he your sticks and here renegade and learnt does that really mean anything the steelers so we asked Jordan dangerfield and one of the things he said it's like you know what? That fire is up to you can hear us we're singing on the sidelines we're getting pumped up. We see those towels go and the fans are going crazy. It means a whole lot to us and we were just talking on the steeler preview. So make sure you check out the preview as well as this show, the pre-game show on all of your podcast platforms, the favorite place that you. Your shows in if you check out the preview I talked about this. The fans are GonNa make a difference even if it's fifty five hundred because back in the day and you you know this guy. Kevin Remember albums not a lot of the kids these days don't I don't know what an LP is. R. Right. But albums back in the day ever it seemed like every single artist or comedian they would play in front of a live crowd and they go ahead and put it on an album and it was like the Eagles Live Steve Martin Live Bob Seger live and it was a big deal in when you listen to those albums, you felt like you were in an arena and especially like I'm Steve Martin comedy. Albums that they weren't big venues. They were small venues maybe about two thousand fans. Some of these were intimate places. But when you heard it, the crowd was loud in they were into it and I think fifty five, hundred fans could make noise for everyone. Kevin what do you think? Oh. Yeah. By the way, the first album I ever bought my life was get your eyes out by the rolling stones which was A. Live record from I think Madison Square Garden but Yeah. Man Nothing right. Live music. It's got a different vibe when it's when it's real. They're pumping in noise in these stadiums. And it's it's Kinda loud but it's it's an authentic. It's like a drum machine versus a dude real drums you know so like. I I absolutely think there'll be some goosebumps going and they'll be they'll be different energy. I, I can't wait and I am so excited for the fans that are going to be there. It is going to be a nice atmosphere because you know skewer fans show up in when they show up, they are going to be loud and they're going to be heard and the steeler fans that are going to be showing up this game there. I. Like to say that they're professional fans because the the ones that are coming to this game they're the die hards and they're going to be extra loud. So I think it's going to be fantastic. I think the team's going to be fired up in your plan a team that. The last week they're one to one they haven't lost actually. They've they're undefeated in the last two games because of the tie in week three but they're wounded on that offensive line and we're GonNa talk about that a little bit. But the Philadelphia Eagles Kevin are always dangerous to the Pittsburgh steelers head to head forty, eight, twenty, three, three. In, favor of the Philadelphia Eagles, now when I bring out those stats and we talked about this with the giants, We talk about this with. The Washington football team. The Chicago bears when you look at those teams, you're gonNA. Say Okay. You know they played so many times when the NFL was just a small league and the steelers were doormats at the time. So you could look at that and say Okay Twenty Games above five, hundred, Forty, eight and twenty three. That's not the steelers we know. But yeah, it is the steelers we know when it comes to the Philadelphia. Eagles. Since nineteen, sixty, nine. That's a year before the merger but that's when things started to turn around because that's when Chuck Knoll. Came in your number one draft pick was Joe Greene, Jack. Ham. Was On that team as well. But. In those fifty one years. The steelers are only four and eight against the. Philadelphia Eagles. Am We're just lucky that this game is in Heinz field because they have not won in Philadelphia. Do you do you know the year the last time they won in Philadelphia Kevin?.

"About, the Development and growth for those guys, Ola. Alex. Bugs. Those guys are. All filling in pretty well, and it just goes to show that. A manager still is the The coaching. The they've done a good job with with the coaching and bring in guys and developing that you know. Get it opportunities and most of them. Mike. We never got to this point with Cam, but I wanted to ask him what is his nickname because I keep screwing it up? Is it a Lulu as it Allahu Allahu? Is it t wobble? Is it Paula Malu I? We just gotta come up with some kind of nickname for everybody. So it's a little bit easier. Yeah, I don't I don't have that answer for you I believe the pronunciation is l. of heard it. Outweighs. Sold this part downed. Look at those first two games eighteen guys played at least twelve percent of the defensive snaps against the giants seventeen guys played at least twelve percent of the defensive snaps against the broncos. The different stare was Roberts spelane inside linebacker was a special teams only player against Denver after playing some defense. in new in New York game they got their eleven starters, Mike Helton's basically the twelfth guy. The nickel becomes in in the five DB sub package Camp Sutton's number thirteen. He comes in in the sixty be sub package but then at outside Linebacker, you've got Alex Highsmith and Ola Dany on a defensive line, Isaiah, bugs and Chris warmly were always the guy who hardly participated in training camp because of injuries but he played about half the defensive snaps the Ravens last year. So that's been there done that guy. SPLAINE was used on the first game in the second, and then you have some guys who were right now special teams only players quarterback Justin Lane safety, Jordan dangerfield safety, slash inside linebacker, Marcus Allen, Safety Sean, Davis, and quarterback, James Pierre, and if you had to get laying in a game or Sean Davidson a game, it'd be very comfortable with that Dangerfield has played a little defense in his career, not very much and Allen and Piero more project guys because of where they're at in their career. But so far at least that defensive depth better than I think a lot of people may have anticipated that should be reassuring for the steelers and. Ll. Aloe also talked yesterday yesterday about The bond that has developed over the years between himself Cam Hayward. Fund to it. Now, that is starting to pay dividends. ticket changes as a lot of you know where whether we're at the facility or away we do spend a Lotta time together. No. So packages or in our base fronts in those. Is. You know you carry that much more at you know when I'm out there I don't WanNa let them down and when when you can get to that level, I think you begin to build something special and I think that. "I couldn't remember who said what yesterday. WE'LL BE Able to we both were rolling so much. But yes. We thought these are some good depth pieces now. Some people are like Oh Sean Davis. Remember. Yes. He was a second round pick steelers. The reason Sean Davis moved on was he still wanted to be a starting NFL safety? So he went out there. He took that shot it didn't work out. Some people are like, oh, well, maybe he's just not good enough or maybe it wasn't the right fit he went to his hometown team things didn't work out there. I know some people are could be critical because of because he didn't win the job, but now he's coming back to Pittsburgh because okay you want to be a starter you're not going to be a starter you get released your old team wants you back to be like, Hey, you're going to be a key backup. He's right and then there is I I I liked Sean Davis is a safety. There was sometimes that you're like. Love Sean Davis as a backup safety. Absolutely. Love it I. Mean that is quality death, right? Excellent and the great point Dave and here's the reason why. Everybody. You not say a bad thing about the next man that I'm GonNa bring up here Charlie batch everybody loves charlie batch in Pittsburgh. The guy had a career record of six and three. But he in those fifteen years, he was the best backup. The steelers have ever had. He was fantastic when he came into play, you weren't like Oh man I'm so happy that he's playing over. Ben Rothlisberger but you're like oh man. I'm glad we have him because Ben. Rothlisberger? In the reason, you were happy about it because for four years, he was the starter. In Detroit for about two and a half years. Sean Davis was the starter in Pittsburgh. He was not. Amazing he was not a pro bowl player, but he was solid back there. Down catches not catching that interception twenty-seven, but but he but he made some, he made some splash plays too. so He's good depth like Ron Chess says, he could play free safety strong safety. So if something happens to one of those guys. You can fill him in and feel a whole lot better than having Curtis Riley or Jordan dangerfield starting. We liked Jordan Dangerfield as a special teams guy impossible special teams captain. But. You don't want them there as you're starting safety right now. Curtis Riley we don't know enough about if he has to. If one of these guys comes into play if Davis comes in and has to play, that's ideal but it's a whole lot more ideal than own and you know what you're getting. Yeah. Now let's get rolling this practice squad because I know that's what everyone's here that want to discuss it the rated go. One other quick thing Davis we're going to be looking at stuff that who knows how they're gonNA use it. It might take them a while. Get him back to speed who knows don't awful be in there on the sub packages. My question was, is that going to affect any playing time off in? A dime for came sudden we'll see maybe made it. If, you're having problems getting your players on the field because you have so many good players. That's a good problem to have. Let's not worry about having to get playing time the other move that some people like some people didn't like was Joshua Dobbs coming back as the third quarterback. Some people would prefer hodges. Some people said no, honestly he. Would you when you're talking about your third quarterback there this is what brings to the table. You now have a guy on your team that on that during practice when you're going up against, let's say the Houston Texans or the Baltimore Ravens or one of the other teams that the steelers play. That has a more mobile quarterback. You now have a quarterback that can emulate that player for the team last year, the steelers went out and. Signed a different quarterback to the practice squad just so they could be the Lamar Jackson in practice. The steelers shouldn't have to do that. Now he brings that to the table and we'll talk about hodges here a little bit anything you WanNa say about Dobbs before we roll into this real quick. Now it's it's a smart signing I liked duck, but this is a better move for the team. The team got stronger in-depth with these two guys. Hannah Fans Dak Prescott here want to spend Sunday, afternoon with.

"This might be one of those years where you can. You can stash a guy like that on a practice squad and and hope that that you know another team doesn't have a slew of injuries at one position and just comes looking. At all the practice squads for for a particular player who plays a particular position. Exactly and Tony I kind of set you up with that question because in my opinion. Did we even would. Would we have any reason to think about to czar skipper was that player before last year's training camp. No. No way we didn't even know only because his name was cool. It was to czar skipper right about it. Yeah and I'm glad you mentioned I completely forgot to the academic fifty three man roster. But that is that is a perfect example of gamesmanship because they kept him on the roster for right up until the very end I forgot all about that that was back into before time. About every. Honey holding that the that the F. for I completely forgot about that and that was a good point and I can see a lot of that happening. Around the NFL this year. Yeah, I would say a player like some. Player that some people think could could. Earn one of the other defensive back spots that was undrafted like trade bandy out of Miami that that he someone you could just maybe get him on the practice squad people and see much about him but he was even a player that was projected to be drafted in the sixth or seventh round of the steelers. That's why wanted. That's why they wanted to to grab him up. It's going to be more likely that it's someone that. That that, you didn't expect that you were that you're constantly waiting to be the next person off the roster. Oh well, WHO's that guy? Why are they keeping I? Don't even know that name. Why are they keeping him around? You're going to have. To See oh, all of a sudden that the steelers cut someone that you thought. was, possibly GonNa make the roster. And then. And then someone like that still hanging around and that could be why that could be why it's. It's going to be some uncharted territory Another example there was a player. I do believe he had the biggest signing bonus out of. Any. steelers undrafted free agent this year That was that was cut as part of the ten this past week this past weekend. I'm pretty sure with an edge rusher or defensive linemen. It was one of those things out of Kentucky the name's escaping me right now but. that. That's just one of those things. We don't. We have no idea what the what they're seeing right now. It's crazy. So right, what do you? Do you think. Do. You think because of this, we're not going to beat see surprises when it comes time to to go to the fifty three man roster Tony I think we're GonNa see that to our skipper on the fifty three to start because because of what the steelers could possibly due to sneak them on. And I think there's going to be as many simply because like we talked about last week during his many starting spots upper grabs. Where in the past and even even the depth seminoles players are are established like Jordan dangerfield but but you know we could we could. Have some surprises based on? Like a guy like like a damn mccullers, right? You know he's been here forever and maybe. They, say the heck with him and they do keep one of the. Young guys that nobody's. Thinking about. Making, the team would normally make it onto the practice squad. Yeah now Dan mccullers and that kind of situation that's another thing that I that we're going to bring up. We're GONNA talk about here in the second half of the show, we're going to talk about that. We're going to get the answers to this question for the live chat and we're going to questions from the live chat for us in order to fit to finish out the steelers. QNA. "I mean 'cause you got to stars. You gotta have two backups so at minimum it's four and I think the battle is between the Alan duet. I mean, the Allens will battle, I think, for that fourth safety spot, I think Jordan Dangerfield, we'll get that third spot because he's played starters. Taps. And I think he has the most experience of any of those other guys those Alan guys in the defense. So again, you go with defense experience a guy who's played in the defense and started albeit limited snaps and he's a good special teamer. So I think he has those things over the two Allen's. So the battle will be between the Allen brothers. It'll be interesting to see I agree to keep for if they had to try to skim their roster. Let's say they wanna keep an extra defensive lineman or an extra linebacker. They could easily if they were going to we both agree that they don't like to do this, but they could cut already burns. Keep Brian Allen. He would be depth that those safety and cornerback will agree with four and I agree with that camp battle between Allen and Allen. I would hope Marcus Allen with win that though. That's a law firm. Allan, Allan, Allan, Allan, if you ever get in trouble if any of the Steelers get a DUI they call Alan and Alan defense attorneys at law, we don't get we. Was that we get money unless we get money for you. Okay. So we're at ten now. Six quarterbacks four safety's, where ten at least fifteen positions left, let's go to the outside linebacker position of this is a position that if one year ago, you and I were doing the same show and we were talking about how many linebackers they keep there is no chance in, you know, where that I would have ever said three as the number and yet there we were weak one three players, but debris T J watt Anthony Tikolo now a lot of people think that if Aladdin you didn't pull his hamstring week, four the preseason he would have made the roster which would have had four nonetheless, he did. And they kept three so lands, what are you seeing from outside linebacker in this upcoming year will those three that you said to start will make it? So you got what debris gigolo you know, it's interesting with the number because they play so much package with ball, the amount of snaps that you have actually four linebackers on the field. It minimizes every single season. Right. It goes down because you're getting a different sub packages where you have three linebackers on the field multiple players in the secondary. But just for the number count. I think they go with five I think all all LA LA will make the roster. And I think Sutton Smith will make the roster as well because he's a Jack of all trades. He's a guy that has possession flexibility. I think he's a guy that you can plug and play in different spots, and they need special teams guys. So, I think Sutton Smith also with his pedigree being in the draft class and being a draft pick. I think they're going to give him every opportunity to make the roster. I think he will. I think they'll have five again. It'll be what depre- Schick, alot Olah, Ola Ola and Sutton Smith. I guess, by nature, you could say that they'll keep five and Sutton Smith. Could be in that group. I do think Sutton Smith will make the team. But I don't think he's even going to be used. Unless it's an injury injury injury situation on the depth chart. He's a special teams guy. And there's nothing wrong with that I guess we'll put him on there. All agree with you. That five but technically that's four. So technically, there's really just Ford that will actually play outside linebacker. So his middle name is certain dash. Yeah. Dash smith. What is it the jack-of-all-trades master of none? That's that's hard sided Smith. If you guys showed last week, I made the joke about Dan ash, like dash, is that, that guy that's number four on the depth chart, who. Definitely. You know, missed this or Mr..

The third, the love child of who was it there, Bryan. Again is. You lift us. And Marcus Gilbert. Yes. I like I said, I did not know who carried that child. But still here we are. And he is a six round draft pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Akron, and my question in the title of this episode, which I swear, if someone just stumbles upon video, they're like, what are they gonna talk about lissi skill 'but? They talked about jerseys and Star Wars. But here we are, and Ulysses Gilbert, Mike question, because he is athletic. He is fast. No one is expecting this guy to play on day one unless they're trying to special teams. It's that's where I think his niche is on the team. If he makes the team, my question is, do you ever see a situation situation, or a scenario where you think US's Gilbert, the third could push a guy like Tyler Medicated off of the fifty three man roster? So Brian, I want to start with you. Do you see those being potential or a possibility? It's a possibility. I think it's slim Tyler Medicaid has a lot of guys that are going to be gunning for him because he's the one that even though he's a special teams demon. He's the guy that is susceptible to these younger guys coming in and they're gonna make their name because of special teams. Ulysses s Gilbert is fast. He has a four runs a four point five. He turned a lot of heads at the combine. He's undersized and that's the problem. But I mean, the undersize was Tyler Medicaid, which dirty red did some great things, I just think this guy. Would need a lot of dominoes to fall to make it. I think he is probably a definite practice squad guy. So what are the dominant he said, they would need the dominance to fall to make the team, you would have to see a lot of guys like even though this, this is not apples to apples because this guy is not a linebacker, but a Jordan Dangerfield might have to get cut Tyler Medicaid might have to get cut. Sutton? Smith is also probably battling for a special teams job as well too, and a host of undrafted free agents that do have some really good opportunities here like a Robert splaine who's also an inside linebacker. So there's there is a lot of traffic. In fact, I might have mentioned it last week. I think I am more excited this year than any year about the undrafted guys the guys that have been cut from other teams. The guys that you're giving future contracts to there was a lot of lesser named budget talent on this team that could really be fighting for jobs. Okay. David or your thoughts on Ulysses Gilbert, in his potential of making the fifty three maybe bumping again like Medicaid at off the roster. I look at him right now as a practice squad player unless he balls out. Just because it just kind of seems to fit there. It's, it's all gonna come down to the special teams if he can if he shows just as much flash as Medicaid on special teams, which is basically the only reason a he's stuck around so long that he's going to get the spot. It could even also be a situation where if you can fit meta, the cage and Gilbert and. Sudden Smith if you can fit all of those guys on the fifty three they're going to all be battling for Blake one helmet. Each week. If you could even get all three of them on the roster. I just don't know if it's there, my most concerning thing with him. Is he had a big fall off in his stats his senior year? College. He the only thing that he did not fall off on is fumble recoveries for touchdowns that he had to fumble recovers cut recoveries for touchdowns as senior year..

"Listen to our podcast or watching her podcasting. What do you think if you're watching this replay on YouTube leave a comment, if you're listening on behind the soccer dot com or you use go to behind the soccer com? Leave a comment. Let us know what you think obviously the majority of fans on behind this occurred dot com. Think that he is. He's got period. But I don't think they're going to cut him before training period. And if you make fifty three men roster, I wouldn't be shocked either because he does play specialty. So if you're in the live right now. What exactly do you what exactly do you think will happen? That's going to be interesting to see what I'm only anxious to see what you think. But also, let us know or if you have any questions for me, this is the time in the show were with the first part of the show done. I always hits or any questions you had the Steelers related. I always mention that if you wanna use the super chat feature you don't have to. But it's if you want to Ray word, says, chat publicly BTS's radio to the right is a small money, son. And you can enter any amount of money. It could be dollar two dollars, five dollars that people give up twenty bucks. Nice little tip the money goes straight to the program, which we appreciate but also your highlighted your question will be highlighted, therefore I guarantee dancers. So if you want to answer. Yeah, if you want your question answered because right now we have several we have lot of people in the live chat. But cell so go ahead and fire way this questions to be. Glad to answer some of it. So. Donald has already burned his toast, someone said, Oakland, Oakland pry gives the third for. I'm not sure after they after the Martavis Bryant trades. Yes, after the Brown or, or run Antonio Brown trade, I disagree, someone's already burns during truly if Troy poem, all is grew on a tree. You better believe the Steelers found that tree by now. But they don't they don't in the safety position is certainly one of concern, my buddy lands. Shout out to him. He did his show. Yeah, I said, it's only found in podcast form he just did that last night. It was all about the safety position and out of Steeler should be concerned in the fan base should be concerned with how that shaping up that that position. So there you go. Let's see here. Winwood says he gives burns of shot if years that he's hoping the Steelers keep him, I said, we're spending, too much money on the questionable Nelson in the ten geriatric aid. We need to cut those two. I disagree about the Nelson and Hayden, especially Hayden. I that he played a great game. But at the same time. I'm not sure about Nelson knows we'll see. Everyone says us the most targeted cornerback in Kansas City, Kansas City, number one, they were blowing teams out. So the opposition was having throw to get back in it. Number two. Their defense was awful. So I think that the Steelers defense is markedly better in the Kansas City often, so. Rita's what safeties make the fifty three. This is a tough one. I'm obviously John Davis troll. Edmonds, I think Morgan Stanley makes fifty three and I think Jordan Dangerfield makes fifty three now. Here's the interesting, I didn't realize this Steelers dot com has Brian Allan as a safety cornerback hybrid. This is new everyone said these big enough to play safety..

"And in the dollar defense seven DVD's Davis Edmonds hate Nelson, Hilton Sutton, and just for kicks giggles will throw Artie burns in there as the fifth cornerback in the dollar package. Now, something should stood out to you as I went through all of those packages who are the safeties in every pack data's in Edmonds. How can two guys play in every package in every single game. The NFL is a war retraction. And if you tell me that these guys are going to hold up. Through sixteen games. I got swamped land that I could sell you. In fact, if you believe that these guys are going to hold up under that burden of being the two safeties that play in every package. I would even suggest to you that the Cincinnati bungles win a Super Bowl. I mean you just can't I mean the cupboard is bare at the safety position. And I think that the front office and Tomlin and Cobra have not done the Steelers Justice by leaving this Burton or this empty. I mean, the coffers are empty at the position. And even when you look at the two starters I mean Edmonds is going into his second season he did not like the world on fire. He's a growing player would if he slumps Davis is a growing player. You know, many people in the fan base, even coaching staff has been mixed on Davis. I think Davis in my opinion is sending player I like him as a player, but needless to say they don't have to Pro Bowl safety on the roster. They probably don't even have a safety on the roster. That could be touted as the best safety in a division. I mean, Eric wet. Oh, in my opinion is the best safety division bar. None. I think it's easy. Easy. Now, I've illustrated the issues and adept issues. Now, you might ask and I wanna put a positive spin on it. You know, I'm paying Jeff is joy, you know, Jeff is always going to take the perspective that these guys are gonna play better going to be coached up to play well, so on, so that's fine. And I don't discount that any of that could happen. The issue is the debt issue is that if any of these guys get injured the odds are that they will get injured because it's football. I mean you have cars crashing into each other issues beings at high speeds, trying to not in decapitate people's heads and rip their heads off. You're going to get injuries. In the case of an injury or a case of slumping player. I don't think that the staff would feel confident and Marcus Allen Brian, Allan, or Jordan, Dangerfield playing a high level of snaps. So what's your only recourse? I mean Steelers only recourse, I think, is the watch the waiver wire over the course of these camps and to bring in a veteran safety, they may be half to bring into veteran safeties. Maybe you cut one of the Alan guys and you cut Jordan Dangerfield and you bring a veteran safety, you know, maybe not thirty or older, but you bring.

"Yeah. He does they do seem to move the chains. A whole lot more. Finney is a road grader and he gets done. So I mean that that could be a possibility the defensive backs. Yeah. I mean, I bring a guy like Dangerfield. I I really wasn't considering that when either but. Edmonds is playing a lot right now. And maybe give somebody else another look that can help you. You're always talking about giving another luck. You do that with a what with the third wide receiver all the time? You're suffering those guys around maybe bring someone else in give someone else a chance it sparks when they did that in the in the Jacksonville game to have him help the run he'd been very well. And that was one of the unsung players of the game. Jordan Dangerfield at that point. So yeah, I I would agree with that. And if they don't spend money in the off season after having all this money, they don't go out and being Greg in the market, which they typically don't do they typically wait to get the the guys with injury question works like Morgan Burnett like areas green they they bring those guys in because they get them at a lower price because teams of passed on them. That can't happen with this Levy on bell money that they have they've got a lot of money that is freed up now a lot of cap room. They've got gotta go do it in the off season. And that's going to be a must and the other thing that I'll just add the the Butler thing has to happen sooner or later. I know they typically don't do it in the in in season. But maybe it's time to change that up too because you're going nowhere with the sky and the only place you're going is home for the holidays, basically and not having a having a lotta time to play golf in the few. And that's just ridiculous to me. Don't sacrifice the season. So thank you so much, Nick, we will talk soon. Take care guys. Anybody? Tony fo that, we think. Makes a lot of good point that he makes a lot of great points. I mean, it's. The defense is concerned. You know, we talked about this earlier in the year whenever struggling their their best when you're aggressive. You know, which Nick Nick mentioned, they're they're playing playing so passive, you know, you know, how many times do you say yesterday how he leave Jared cook wide open. How could you be so wide open on this player that play and and you know, their philosophy the change a couple of years ago where they want to they wanted to bring in guys that were really good at man to man titan into man coverage. And you're not seeing that right now..

"And I've had a lot of great ones. But that's going to rank. They're why they're going to be thinking about this for years. Yeah. Absolutely. And I think that it'd be if you think about this game, and if it would have gone the other way for whatever reason, and let's rob burgers knees down, and they go for don't get it. They end up losing whatever the case may be if they would have lost this football game. They would have been six three and one, and then you have to five and five teams, which is really just knocking on the door. You wouldn't have been his closed in terms of while you definitely would not have been in the number two seed, and that was a huge huge win. It was a pretty though, no one is saying it's pretty I haven't heard anyone say to knows a beautiful win. Maybe my Tomlin. He's known for going into the post game press conference to say man would've youthful when that was in the mediators, I what in the world he talking about. And he's talking about his players going out making enough plays to win the game. But the only thing I the only other thing I wanted to ask you gonna ask Lance Williams tomorrow night on our standard is a standard podcast is it's about the Steelers defense. Everyone knows about the Steelers offense. It's it's high-powered. It's dynamic. It's multifaceted any boy you want to describe it is completely legit at this point. They might have looked bad in three quarters, but that fourth quarter Shoji the stuff to keep them down for sixty minutes. But with that said, let's talk about the defense for a second. What point because let's be honest. We've all said it Brian. You said it I've said Atlanta's said it viz defense could be the downfall of the team. We've said that this defense is, you know, going to be a team that could just have to kind of just don't get in the way, essentially, but we'll point do we start thinking viz defense, especially when you look at what happened on Monday night football. We're talking about one hundred and five points, surrendered total. At what point is Steelers who have given up more than what is it twenty points during this winning streak six game winning streak? I believe it will point. Do you say this team of twenty one points because they gave up twenty one to Carolina because the garbage touchdown garbage time. It will point do we say to this team is defense could be legit in not a vulnerability. You know, what Jeff we're saying it right now, and we have to for a couple of reasons you might have been wanting to save this for later. But just let me throw you four numbers. Six seven nine and ten that's four major defensive rankings that the Pittsburgh Steelers rank in the top ten this game with Blake Bortles definitely helped them a whole lot getting that average down, but they were giving up two hundred twenty seven point two passing yards a game which ranked number seven rushing yards per game. They're only giving up ninety nine point six the rank ninth the ranked tenth in points per game twenty two point five and overall they're the six prank defense. So we gotta say they're legit. Now. The only question I have is was that secondary even close to being tested the other day. It was hard to grade the secondary because they weren't tested but the front seven did their job six sacks. Once again. That was just a Mashal masterful performance. And I think I've been saying this all along and you have never promoted. And I appreciate that other people have when it said, but you have Joe Haden and Morgan Burnett on the field. And I know we're not doesn't seem like we're seeing a lot for Morgan Burnett. But I think that is such a huge upgrade over a head case that was Mike Mitchell. And I know he's playing while in indie, but they're just they're coached on the field. There's no confusion issues. There was confusion issues at the beginning of the season. That's not happening. And Keith Butler who I'm on his back all the time. Whoever's idea to bring in Jordan Dangerfield, was brilliant. He's doing the run support. He's helping out that was a team effort on defense. Suddenly I was thinking we've got a defense. And I hope this keeps up, and I know it's against Blake Bortles. But luck the biggest part of that whole game. For me. Jeff was the. The first half..

"And I'm not doing, but I just I just love the swagger. I loved I loved what what they have going on that last drive. And that is there's been a few occasions talking about a few plays where they we're going to be talking about at the end of the year impossibly Super Bowl week. They've got. They're saying they're going to Super Bowl. But I think this is a special season. And that's another what that's rive is going to be talked about for a long time. Just like the drive against with Cincinnati. And the week before there was there was a there's a huge play in the Atlanta game. Then we're just going to be talking about them. And they keep on building. It's almost like they're just building memories this year there so many building blocks in special moments in these games. That's why I think this is such an amazing season. So far with the ups and downs adversity. I just love what's going on mix. Thanks so much for your time, buddy. I appreciate it. I hope you got very special thanksgiving. Next time. Thank you Bye-bye. Threat. I'm glad you got to go to the game. That's that's pretty awesome. And let's let's talk through another guy. We haven't talked to in a few weeks Ken from jersey, man. I haven't heard from him in a long time. And I think we're about to can't what's going on. What's up guys? How are you making three for three and guessing area codes? That was psych psychic network over here. Locked in my base, the on war, and I just. Remember, she had the psychic friends network. I remember that even though it's a little before time. But I still remember, I I've I've I've forty six Tony our old codgers. So this. Nineties not. No, I'm thirty. I'm thirty four. No. I remember I was. Okay. But yeah. I haven't been through guy team me. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. That was an emotional roller coaster men. Like, I was I I went from just like the first half. I was just as growing restless, I was very calm. Just like kind of I've seen that before. I seen it twice last year. I read that book before I was just calm and kind of getting restless looking at the clock. And I think my second point when I started yelling was in the second half when then through that that second interceptions Ramsey, which I believe it was third in the section, and I was just like starting to lose it as like man, I can't believe you wanna lose. He's guys again. But it was only sixteen and nothing I knew if they just got a score then things than the the defense start to react differently. And they just they just needed something positive happen. So I just wanted something. They just needed something positive happen on offense. Defense. I gotta tip. My cat, man. These guys. Yes. They gave up the long drive the ten play drive after the inception in the end zone in the second half. With most part. I mean, you hold a team of sixteen points with nothing no motivation coming from your offense for three and a half quarters like they just playing like that in the document pretty much with just the the blind fake that you is going to do something. There's that aspect of game two with the mental aspect that. You know, if if people are not really thinking that matters that really matters when you know that I I mean get that because we wanna score again is different than knowing. They're not they haven't scored all game. So I thought that was huge. So a lot of maturity on the defense the trust that they have and just doing their job, and you could see that because they have more gap integrity. They fix run the run stopping issues with they actually did they wouldn't Goldline package of being Jordan Dangerfield is. A part of the goal line habits. So that's the judgment. They did they took out Cody sense about and they went into the goal impacts. And who does that these days and this NFL, so it probably took them a little while to realize that's what they needed to do because the other regular packages weren't working..

"Okay. So let's see here. Let's I have a question for you and six games left. Branca's charters raiders patriots. Saints Bengals how many wins losses. I told you the only two losses will be against the patriots and the saints. So what does that four wins before and to demonstrate? Yeah. So you'd have them finishing eleven to one. Eleven five and won. See his math is van his eleven four one, right? Math again do that. Math eleven five and won. See his is bad and real eleven four sixteen games. Lancer sixteen games. They can't be eleven five. You're right. My man. Is there? I. I've never claimed the guy that is you that is you Mr.. That's. There were at least. You can count reps better. Yeah. Well. We should maybe we should stick to talking just about football at night. Let's definitely numbers out of it. This game shows will for sure. Five what that's sixteen. Time added that Dan tied. I hope you guys heard that that was pure comedy the end people giving me are time one. Plus when I think, I don't know. I'm giving the dumb jock thing of real some legs here. Some people say laser plane is bad as healers didn't. I. You're my math is bad, man. Undo what a polish I I'm going to make the shift, man. I think I'm going to Comcast direct TV stinks. Something I'm going to that one hundred and fifty megabits per second. I can't take this. Okay. So here we hoof. Now. Let's go. He's a lot of people making fun of us here as we should be made fun of. So let's let's go back and find some questions here. Okay. So. I passed. That says that he said Tomlin said that Anthony tequila had an ankle late on a special teams play said that'll be something to watch especially with the Steelers only carrying three Outside Linebackers. You have to wonder if they would have to make a move. I hope that he would be okay. We'll see. That's definitely a lot of people want to ask about Ryan Switzer. What are your thoughts on Ryan Switzer? I think Moore's a let's be on returner in the NFL anymore is someone that is reliable to catch fair to fair catch the pond and to maybe give you a spark every now. And then there's no more Devon Hesters in the league because he basically taken the kickoff at of the game. So what are your thoughts on Switzerland's receiver with his team? He's a cute little player. But he's not the guy that you wanted to feel you jails Washington view on the field. You want that second round guy that take that step forward and bring the element of being able to stretch the field you want that guy on? Field. He's a guy play RPO type guy. That's what you want him for on offense. I mean, preferably again, you'd rather have James washed out there playing, but let me ask you, Jeff. Why was Jordan Dangerfield playing? Somebody get hurt. I didn't hear them saying thing believe it or not Jordan Dangerfield is in their goal line package and the Steelers to stop the run in the second half played with almost a goal line defense. Type. Look you have to watch it on the all twenty two damage colors come in. I think at they kept mccullers in. But the Jordan Dangerfield actually plays in the Steelers goal line defense. And so they had him out there on specific occasions where they wanted to sell out the stop the run and for the life of me. I still can't believe it at work a goal line defense. She gets shredded down the field and the Jaguars just could they couldn't do it. Which is a good lead into a question that we had the Steelers bad against the run. Do you think that's gonna be issue moving forward? Or is this game? Just a flute. Our don't, but I think it hinges on to its health because a Lou Lou solid guy. Cal player Callum, go cow Bayer's Eluned cheese. Big game got cancelled due to weather. We would've beaten Stanford. "Wanna see if he's available because Lord knows have already burns is gonna show up on time. Or if he's going to actually be disciplined for that. And that's where I wanna start Lance before we get nurse stack eek saved me. 'cause I know we both have some stats here that we wanna read off last week or just about the team in general. So I'm sure you heard the news that already burns didn't play in week eight against the Cleveland Browns. And I everyone was wondering why come to find out the report came from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN that his sources told him that a player that already burns missed or was late to a meeting or slash activity slash walk through on Saturday. Turns out Mike Tomlin Cooper at cooperated with that said. Yes that is affirmative. He missed the he was late. So he paid the paid the punishment. What was your first reaction to that? Young man does he get it that you have a finite amount of time to play in the National Football League. And your missed opportunity is somebody else's opportunity. And if you don't handle your business, you'll be out of the league before you got in the league. There are a lot of guys that want to be the starting cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And if you don't appreciate that, your dream will be over very soon. My question for you next is d you compare this situation from the Levy on bell situation prior to the Jacksonville Jaguars playoff game. Head really get article that we published today on the website about how might Tomlin did not hold a double standard here. Because reportedly he knew about lady on bells late tardiness slash missing the walkthrough in Artie burns. He did not. I don't know if I buy that though. I honestly don't so lady on bell. And I understand he's one of your better off the players. He calls you up as his coach. I got a problem. I'm gonna miss the walkthrough before a playoff game any say. Okay. That's fine. In order burns, who let's be honest was a starter. And he's not some scrub. It's not like Jordan Dangerfield calling up. Coach tomlin. The. Okay. So already burns calls of Tomlin are doesn't call him up. Just rolls up a little bit late. And he sits for four quarters doesn't play defensive snap only place. Ten special teams naps. You see a double standard there, Lance or do you think I'm reading too much good? Oh. Another another question, please. Who? Precedence over press conference overhaul get to that in a second. We'll get that a second. I would like. It's a double standard. We live young bail. At the time was all pro running back you want to go to the Super Bowl. So there's obvious double standard, and it should be a double standard. And mean you want to win the football game. I mean discipline is a big thing. I understand that. But losing is a bigger thing. Artie burns is not playing good football. They felt that they would be okay. I didn't even realize he played special teams snaps in that game. He actually did. He played ten special teams snaps on Sunday while I'm surprised you didn't commit five holds. So. Play. Good football. Look he was prepared. Yeah. That's right. I mean, I I don't know to me it just as a former coach of rubs me the wrong way. I understand it plus certain players get certain treatment that happens at every single level of athletics from high school on. But at the same time, it just rose me the wrong way. I don't like it..

"Brunettes been hurt. Where does Marcus Allen fitness? Equation. Jordan Dangerfield got the helmet instead of him last week when Burnett was at again, that should tells you a lot. So I think they basically taking this red shirt season from Arcus Allen, barring a lot of injuries, and maybe the end of the season, he'll be seeing special teams play. I don't know, but I think it's like a red shirt season and then it will see. All right. Some people still talking to Artie burns. Let's hear Patrick Peterson talking then. I guess we talked Patrick Peterson. I don't think that's going to happen. It's a nice thought though. Let's see here. Yeah, case mood rights, Joe Haden. He's talking about Joe Haden e. Joe Hayden is doing a great, a great job, not just on the defensive side of the football, not just physically. I should say. He's also doing a tremendous job in communicating. This is a guy that is in a. I wish I had a clip that I could just kind of insert here. Go back to the Jacksonville, playoff loss and two thousand seventeen, and you've just go back to what those pre snap looks look life for the Steelers. If you remember, it literally looked like chickens running around with their heads cut off. You had two players. They were pointing this way and that way, and they're motioning one way and another guy's crossing someone else often this and it went to it was chaos that's best way to describe it. It was nothing but pure chaos, mill one new, what anyone's responsibilities were. No one knew anything. A lot of that could be pinned to the fact that Ryan shazier was the leader in the communicator in the hub of that defense in terms of communicating to the back end communicating to the front, really making those calls. And so without Shazia your thinking, okay, what are they going to do? Who's gonna do that Sean Spence on a couch? No, Vince Williams maybe. He, but he wasn't even experienced enough. So now it's Joe Haden if you watch, that's especially in the back end in the secondary is really keeping everything calm. When you see trail Edmonds kind of moving around a lot, and you see other guys communicating is just Joe Haden. It's calming people down, and it should be noted that the game that he missed in week two against the cheese was when the secondary looked like a dumpster fire, he needed. Who else I would put in this category in terms of defense of most valuable player is Mike Hilton. Both of these players, Stu so much more than just their physical attributes on the football field. Yet they're playing tremendous football, but they're also so valuable to the defense and so many different ways it's worth talking about because if you're talking about most valuable player it, that's what I hate about Evie p voting anymore. People think Evy peop- is just the best player. It's the pay player of the best attested. That's not necessarily case in. My opinion. I think the MVP should be the most valuable player to whatever team or unit whatever the case may be. And so for me, Joe Hayden is by far the most valuable player on the Steelers defense right now I ask you if you're watching on YouTube right now in. I'm honestly saying like, let me know if he can think of someone else that is more valuable right now to this dealers events, Joe Haden. I love you more than willing to listen and to see what you think. But to me, it's Joe Haden in Mike, he'll might if it's one, a one b might be Mike Hilton because when my hilt missed, what did they miss that guy to?.
