"Across the country, red. It's a dog eat frog world, and that's exactly what happened to those vaunted horned frogs who are no more the dogs go back to back and have at least another year and who knows how much longer of bragging rights. The day after, I appreciate you being with us. We're back in studio. And everybody's talking about the dominant dogs, 17 in the AP poll era to go back to back. Last two years, they've won 29 games. Most in a two season major span have not lost a regular season game. The only blemish, the SEC championship, 14 games allowing 7 points or fewer, and I think by now you can pretty well figure out it was the most dominant beat down in any type of championship history. And will they do it again? According to Vegas, they will, of course, Vegas at Alabama is a prohibitive favorite this year. They have a store around, they're the number two favorite Tennessee down at the 12 spot. LA shoe. How about that? Didn't take Brian Kelly long to change the expectations game. Lord estate sneaking in there. Brandon Marcello was his day after a reaction and then we'll get to yours at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5. Brandon, thanks for the time. Appreciate it very much. We are in the day after post mortem, what was yours? My post mortem is, I would have had more entertainment watching the red and black Georgia spring scrimmage. That was an absolute beatdown as we know. And I was at the coach's convention here in Charlotte, and I was hanging out with a coaching staff that had played TCU earlier this year and they couldn't quite believe what was going on. And of course, they hadn't really seen Georgia on the field up close and personal and they got to see them on the live TV last night and absolutely impressed and blown away by just how much bigger and faster and deeper Georgia is at every position and getting this gracious TCU just did not look like it belonged on that field. Yeah, Brandon, I'm curious. That's a big deal every year. The coaches convention, which always goes on during this week, just in relation to Georgia and Kirby smart. What did you and are you picking up from other coaches who compete against that program and obviously know it well? A lot of shoulder shrugs and throwing up their arms of what are you going to do? They have the top four top two class every year. Number one, every other year it seems like and they're getting the type of kids that not only are they building depth, but they've got monsters in the trenches. They don't just have big guys. They've got monsters. And when you look at guys like Brock Bowers, who has been being what we've even expected here in this new era of college football for the tight end, when they're more like a receiver. And yet, he's out there running Jeff sweeps with track like speed. There's maybe one or two programs that can get that type of player on their campus and make them a threat for a couple of years. And George is one of them. And listen, tight ends are a massive issue anyway for linebackers to cover, but how do you cover someone like Brock Bowers who's an absolute freak of nature that no one else in the country is able to get unless you're a Georgia or maybe an Alabama or maybe an Ohio State and George has got that type of player and not just that, but they have multiple players like that that are just as elite in their respective positions. There's nothing you can do about it. Coaching only goes so far scheme only goes so far. Players win games and Georgia's got the best roster in college football. Brandon we'll come back to Georgia before you go, but everyone's always looking ahead if you had to identify two or three schools that you think have the best chance of at least hanging with Georgia. On the national scene, who are they? My pick right now is Florida state. I love what they have done and backfilling that roster over the last three years and are Mike norville do the transfer portal while also not ignoring the high school recruiting scene and they've been able to do a good job with that as well. And then you look at their recruiting class right now as far as the transfer portal, they don't have a lot of guys in there, maybe 8 or 9, but they by far are number one in the country and quality of players with an average ranking of 91.4, which is by far number one in the country. You got Jared verse. They're incredible sack monster returning and so going NFL. You've got Jordan Travis, who is a legitimate Heisman Trophy threat at quarterback. And by the way, as much love as Drake may was getting in North Carolina this year and the ACC being the land of quarterbacks, Jordan Travis had the best passer rating on anybody in that conference with fantastic in the clutch, Florida state, a lot of pieces returning and they continue to complement things in the transfer portal with new kids coming in. I really like them to win the ACC and as a matter of fact, get into the playoffs next season. That's really interesting because we just have come to expect the ACC to only be Clemson and we found out that's not always the case talking to Brandon Marcello, Brenda was in the SEC. LSU is getting a lot of love. Is it justified? I think so. Brian Kelly has done a fantastic job of recruiting there. They overachieve this year based off of expectations, but I have said and coaches in this conference have long said, LSU still had talent going into this past season. They should be a program that can contend to win 9 or ten games every year, no matter who the head coach is there. And Brian Kelly met those type of expectations and did a good job of filling holes through the transfer portal and they're still doing that right now and they've got an impressive transfer portal hall coming in not talk to a couple of the LSU assistant coaches this weekend and they're really, really excited about what they're going to be able to do defensively next season. And if that's the case, that's going to be maybe be what takes them over the top and maybe be able to contend against Alabama to win the SEC west. And speaking of Alabama, who is their quarterback going to be? It's a great question. I don't think it's going to be Jalen Miller. I think it will be ty Simpson, even though he's only thrown bypasses so far in his career, Miller obviously is dynamic and the way being able to run the ball, but listen, you got to value protecting the football and I keep flashing back to that a and M game. Yes, they won, but he had three turnovers, his passing numbers weren't incredible, obviously. And that wasn't to be expected. And yes, he picked up some good yardage against a and M and for that matter, Arkansas on the ground. But the play in that offense, you've got to be a prolific pastor. They're not going to change things, all that dramatically there. And so I think ty Simpson will end up being that quarterback for them going into next season. Brandon Brandon Marcello was a show. You mentioned a and M and I was trying to get into a conversation without mentioning Jimbo Fisher, but it's hard not to. It feels like a bounce back here for them. Now that bob petrino was the offensive coordinator. They have a quarterback who has shown some promise. So where do you see them? Much like LSU, they've got the talent to where they should win ten games a year under Jimbo Fisher. And I think they've got themselves a quick fix over these next two seasons with the staff. He has been able to put together speaking specifically, of course, with Bobby petrino calling the plays there. You're not bringing body petrino in there to recruit because he's not a great recruiter. He's not going to get fantastic players.

"Down to Tate rotter maker being worth ten points and although we don't see it in that one specific small sample size of two quarters. Anyone going to debate that still right at this moment? The way Jordan Travis has played. It's just so what I have seen from coastal here depicts maybe even something larger than 8 points and you just think about the matchup in this game and if coastal is going to throw the ball where they've really been quite successful, that's Troy's best attribute as their past defense. Coastal hasn't really been able to move the ball all that efficiently on the ground, but the one element of Troy they've really limited explosive runs. It's a good matchup from that perspective. I guess the only question would be at this point is the market in and of itself. We've seen some dumb things happen, right? Troy opens as low as four and a half and everyone believes Grayson calls out. We tip to what 1111 and a half at peak. And now all of a sudden there's been this discussion of we think Grayson McCall is going to try and play and we're at 8 and a half. We know he's not going to be a 100%. But what does the market do when he officially gets upgraded on the screen? And so I think we could probably only trend lower and that might create some value on Troy at that point. If the market dips below the key number of 7 and we all know he's not going to be a 100% with this foot injury. Maybe that's when you step into Troy. I just don't know if this is the specific time to go, because if he gets upgraded on the screen, it's inevitably going to move this game. It's so interesting. I obviously when you look at the way coastal is performed even last week against JMU. I mean, Jamie chadwell deserves a ton of credit for their early game scripts. They come out, they put together a crooked numbers early on in games, and they've kind of fizzled out on the conference road. You look at their performance. Thankfully for us, at Monroe when we took Louisiana Monroe plus the 14 is a podcast best bet. Coastal isn't able to do much after the break with a healthy McCall. You saw something very similar even at home against USM with the backup quarterback and it gets Marshall earlier this year. So so much of it is schematic, but I think this is clearly a step up in class, not the kind of defense you're accustomed to facing within the sun belt, given what Troy has brought to the table. And Brad, I guess the other part of this handicap that I have to ask you about before we kind of pivot away from it. All sorts of buzz about Jamie chadwell potentially taking a job outside of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has been one of the hottest names in the coaching carousel for the last couple of off seasons. Does that factor into the handicap at all? Or do you think in a one game setting what he's meant to this program and players that they can kind of put that distraction behind them? To a similar extent, what we saw from old myths against Mississippi state, more so than what we saw from liberty, who got boat raced last week by New Mexico state. Yeah, although all this still lost. And they lost their last two games with distractions and liberty. That wasn't a good look with that. I would say that it's something that if you're not putting it into your handicap, I think you're making a mistake. I'm not saying it's worth a lot, but it's certainly I don't think is a positive because a lot of reports are saying he is the odds on favorite to be the next USF coach. So I don't think it's necessarily a good sign of a guy's one foot out the door. I know it meant it means a lot to close this off finally with a sunbelt championship to three year run for coastal. One thing I will say is maybe there are record looks similar to the last two years editions, but when you do dive into coastal, even with a majority of the season with grace and McCall, it's nowhere near as good as the last two years. I mean, this is a team that's been out gained. Yards per play negative. I just don't see them. When you look at the second order win total, which is basically an advanced metric that says, the user's advanced statistics gives a win probability and compares it to the actual outcome of the game. Is this team is more like a 6 and a half win type of team instead of a 9 and two teams. Add all that together and the question marks about Grayson McCall's health status has me, obviously, on the Troy side here. And I'll pivot back to what pain mentioned. I do believe once it hits that down best screen and he's officially in, we'll see 7, maybe we're not going to see 6 and a half. Boy, if we see 6 and a half, I'm already heavily involved in this one. I'm telling you 7 is a major goal for me. 6 and a half would be, I would have the biggest bet of the year on top of already having a monster bet on Troy in this game. CJ maribel and Isaiah likely aren't walking through that door for the shanta clears to try and help their offense. Come Saturday. One last question I have for you Brad and pain kills me when I ask these relatively speaking hot take questions, but I don't feel it's such. When you look at coastal from Grayson McCall to what they have at quarterback, bigger downgrade than what Fresno state was when they lost JK for an extended period of time and how to go to Logan fife. It is a bigger downgrade, especially with them trying out the younger guy carpenters had plenty of experience. I know he can't throw the football, but he at least can run it and it started many games in his career. So I'm a little surprised that they have kind of used this as more towards the future. But yeah, it's probably the biggest downgrade in college football. At least, unless obviously we haven't seen Caleb Williams go out of the lineup or Drake may, but at least at the group of 5 level, there's no one more valuable. Yeah, it's a great point talking about coastal knowing that they've used two backups. And if they'd lean on a veteran and Carpenter to run the football a little bit more, shorten the game, should McCall not be effective going into hostile territory against the stingy defense with the last thing you want to do is create a short field and allow those fans to rally behind their team. All right, from group of 5 football gentlemen to big boy football being played in Atlanta, where Georgia is a 17 and a half point favorite against LSU in the Mercedes Benz stadium, total on the game 51. And the SEC championship game has been played since 1992. It's UGA's tenth appearance, a three and 6 record with their wins coming in 2002, 2005 and 2017, surprisingly enough for the bulldogs, given everything they've been able

"Options, I have in my hand, if you can hear that, it is a contract from mister Payne. And it says that I have no matter what, even when he's not here, hashtag no days off. I have to talk about Florida state. I get it. It's a big game this week. I didn't want to do it. I mean, come on, pain. I mean, they've lost back to back games. So I really want to talk about Florida state this week. I don't honestly, I mean, maybe one of the reasons why paine's not here forget all that hubbub about the trip to the Tennessee for the game, the wedding, all that stuff that's going on there. Maybe he just didn't want to show up after what Jordan Travis did late Saturday night, which is throw back to back interceptions, probably the two worst interceptions I've seen as far as moment and time, you needing not to turn it over and then you do exactly what you shouldn't do. I mean, that was a bad look for Florida state a game that they should have absolutely won against the backup quarterback in NC state. So I think that when you're looking at this matchup against Clemson, all jokes aside, I think people are stunned by the line. And that's Clemson favored by only three and a half points. Top 5 team against an unranked team only favored by three and a half. And the opening line was Clemson 5, so literally money's been on Florida state. And then you dive into the stats. So if I told you this, would you be surprised if clients Clemson was only laying three and a half. Floor states played the tougher schedule. Florida state, yards per play margin, very basic stat. I'm sorry. I don't have the advanced analytics this week that pain and Todd usually have. That's just not me. I love that they rely on that. I think it's great. I think it's the wave of the future. It's just not personally what I do when I'm breaking down a game. I just go to the basic basics, give me the meat and potatoes. And you look at Florida state from a yards per play margin number 13 in the country. Clubs in number 27. Four states better. And that's against better competition. For state yards per game. Better than Clemson. Now scoring margin, not so much, but obviously you go back and start going through floor states games. And they had a mess up at goal line against LSU when they could have game control there. They also probably should have settled for the field goal last week. They missed them scoring opportunities there. So the scoring margin should be better for Florida state, but when you look at yards per game yards per play margins to very basic stats, floor states better despite playing better competition. So that is one of the reasons why when diving in and I saw my power rating said three and a half. The line says three and a half. I'm not at a bet right now, but breaking down the Clemson offense versus the Florida state defense. I think you got to start with DJ uyanga LA. I mean, look, he misses throws, still a lot of them each week. But no question he's improved as a passer. Number 29 in the country in QBR doesn't sound great, but it's better than last year. He's got a 14 to two ratio, 64% completions. Last year, 56% negative touchdown interception ratio last year, 9, ten. He's running a little bit more. Obviously dropped a 30 pounds in the off season. That's helped out the offense a little bit. I will say, will shipley a running back? He's been okay? I mean, 400 and 46 yards, 5.9 yards per carry 8 touchdowns. I mean, I think a lot of people would take that from your starting running back. But I kind of expected will shipley to be a top 5 top ten running back in the country. So far, I haven't seen it yet this year. Collins Williams, nagata, solid, that wide receiver. It's not going to give you memories of what Clemson had a wide receiver a few years ago with Trevor Lawrence. I'll tell you that. On the defense side of the ball for floor state in the matchup, they've been solid, especially when you consider they've been dealing with injuries. So I don't see a clear cut edge here. Often, the Clemson's offense first four states defense, maybe slight edge for climbs in there. I think the bigger stories on the other side of the ball for me. And big question, and I actually wish pain was here. He'd give me the inside info on this, but a leading Russia for Florida state, Trey Sean ward, didn't really word is he didn't need surgery, so that's good news for him at least for the rest of the season, but I think at best he's questionable here. He's their leading Russia. He's averaging 6.8 yards per carry almost 500 yards rushing already this season. I will say I like Benson until a feely. There are two backups. They run really hard, but when you're playing clams in that front, you would like to be a 100% healthy, especially a running back. So that could potentially be a big miss missing piece for that Florida state offense. Speaking of the offense, has it been leaking a little bit the last couple of weeks? I mean, they haven't been able to top 400 yards in any of the last couple of games. How does floor states quarterback Jordan Travis respond? I was reading an article before I did this. I mean, usually they said Jordan Travis even keeled isn't very emotional, good and bad. But he had a ton of emotion after both interceptions last week. So how does he respond? I'd like to think that he does because I think he's so far this season has been one of the more improved passers. I mean, he only had one interception all season prior to that fourth quarter against NC state last week. So just more regression as far as I think we'll see more of the player that we saw earlier in the year and just had a bad quarter. But what gives me a little bit of pause, I think, Clemson defensively is getting also healthier. Keep in mind, the game against wake forest are missing three guys in the secondary. They get them back and they're still kind of struggling a little bit, past defensive wise. I mean, they are giving up 256 yards per game, but Brian brizzy, the outstanding Clemson defense alignment. He's going to be back this week. He's missed some couple games.

"Because Florida state's got all three of their timeouts. They just burned the first one right there. And you don't want to leave them with any time on here. NC states offensive line has been the story of the second half. They have gone out here with Jack chambers at quarterback and taking the game on their shoulders. Grant Gibson, one of your seniors, the leader on offense, who's got 41 starts to his name Has been absolutely burying guys. This group's got a chance to put the game away right now and when your offensive coordinator and Tim Beck looks down right now, he sees a bunch of guys that are frothing at the mouth of the opportunity to win this game. 35 seconds on the clock NC state leading by two, the second down and the 8 from their own 22 yard line, the shotgun snap taken by chambers will hand it off to Jordan Houston and will be short. It looks like I'm a first down, but close. Yep, so another time out here from Florida state, it'll be third and about two right now, which is great. Great opportunity. This offensive line Chandler's of Allah grant Gibson Dylan McMahon in the middle. Have all been doing a great job getting that interior push for this team in the second half. How about right side of this offensive line two with 94 combined starts 6500 snaps together? That's a lot of experience. It's a really impressive unit. And with that experience comes being able to weather the storm and tough moments like that first half. You're confident coming out and making adjustments because you've all seen so much football together. You all seen it with the offensive line we always talk about it. You got to see one thing through 5 sets of eyes. You've all got to be on the same page. 5 guys seeing the picture is one. That's been the second half of this NC state team Third down in two 29 seconds on the clock trips right. Three wide receivers chambers is going to hand it off to Houston and he will burst up the middle and the celebration has started on the NC state sideline so appropriate that it is Jordan Houston that can try to help put this game away a workhorse today 24 carries 90 yards. 3.8 yards per carry as he's getting all the congratulations from his teammates on the field. I'm going to say it wasn't pretty by any stretch right there from Jordan Houston. It wasn't a blow you away running day, but it was efficient. It was critical in moments where they needed it. And they capitalized. This second half is about mistakes for Florida state. We talked about the frustration with penalties back double digit penalties two weeks in a row. The critical mistake on a punt that turns it over gives them points. The interception by Jordan Travis in the second half early in their own end of the field that led to three points and then finally the nail in the coffin on that drives you're driving with a chance for a game winning field goal. First down in ten and taking a knee is Jack chambers, they didn't put a lot on his shoulders. He threw one pass, but today, 39 yards on the ground, he's able to say he led his team to victory in this one coming in in the third quarter of the final year. In Raleigh, 19 to 17 NC

"Not gain much in his chill of Philly who tries to flip flop his way for extra yardage. And that will bring up second down in 9 with 44 seconds on the clock. And there's another time out. So when he states got one time out left, so you're going to go up here like we see another run from Florida state on this play. They're going to burn that timeout for third down. And then that's when you're going to have the decision to make if you're Florida state. If you get a little antsy because if this were the NFL, you'd be running it three times and trotting your field goal kicker out there. College kickers are a different animal and totally entrusting the game them is always a dangerous proposition. But remember going back to the end of the first half. That field goal for Ryan Fitzgerald. A 47 yarder, and you saw the entire team go out there and celebrate that. Confidence boosting moment. So now you've got a guy over on the sideline who might be getting ready to kick a potential game winning field goal on the road against a ranked team who feels like he finally got his mojo back. 44 seconds on the clock after the timeout, second and 9 from the 23 of NC state Lawrence to affiliate off the right hip of Jordan Travis. Four wide receivers, Tripp's left. He takes the shotgun snap as time in the pocket throws toward the end zone and that's going to be intercepted in the end zone. Florida sting was down by two caught in the end zone by NC states. For the turnover. I'm unsure what we just watched. As the rest are trying to make sure Cyrus fagan doesn't do something that they have to flag. He's merely waving to his student section that just happens to be on the side of the Florida state bench. Slowly try to slot fade to Micah Pittman again in this game. Devin boykin, who they picked on in coverage some. This time responds at the top of the route there's some hand fighting and so Micah Pittman pulls up short on the route. The ball gets thrown to his spot on a fade like that. The quarterback's thrown into a garbage can in the end zone. Throws it to a spot. We're only Devon boykin is at that point. My question is, why are you calling that play? A fade is a low percentage throw, especially down in the red zone. When I said passing as an option

"Offense. Got a matchup one on one with Jake Harris and that was a play we saw working the first half, get him match up against the safety. I believe it was against Jeanne Harris again there and loft one up to the biggest receiver on your team. A huge gain of 31 yards approaching two minutes left. Again, an empty backfield. 5 wide receivers, Travis, pocket closing in on him. He quickly gets in the way, but it is incomplete goes out of bounds intended for Trey Benson as that safety valve, good pressure by NC state's defense. It was great pressure. I thought Jordan Travis is going to take off, but a great job closing down there on the perimeter by JaVale prince price excuse me. And honestly, a great job by Jordan Travis, getting that ball away, airing on the high side so it's incomplete stops the clock and you live to play second and ten. It'll be from their own 48 one 52 paused on the clock NC states. As sports 16 unanswered points after trailing 17 to three. And the previous plays under review for targeting, which the Florida state sideline was calling for over on that play. You saw him go high on the tackle there on Trey Benson, and they're going to take a look and see if that was with The Crown of the helmet. Or leading up top into the head and neck area. We'll try and get a look at the replay here. Yeah

"Up in the middle gets across the 25 and he stopped by Tanner ingle. If your Florida state now, you've got to be patient as an offense. You're used to big plays, but I think you're going to see two deep safeties for most of this drive as NC state wants to milk this clock and not give them a chance to hit over the top and hurt them with one big shot. Second and two again an empty backfield 5 wide receivers under three minutes to go the clock continues to run shotgun snap plenty of time for Travis, but he's going to be forced from the pocket a flag comes out as he's on the run trying to juke a defender comes down across the 30 for first down yardage, but again that flag came out early on that month. Yeah, Robert Scott left tackle, tackled the defender in the backfield there. And it's hard because Jordan Travis. It's hard when Jordan Travis breaks contain that close, his defenders reaching off. He's trying to make the play. You'd love to see Jordan Travis and these guys in the middle understand when they're rushing three, you got a chance to get two double teams on the offensive line. You gotta hit hard and clear out space in the middle so that Jordan Travis is more trying to cut up there where there's a lot of space right now as this defense is dropping back and playing drop 8 on most of these snaps. A game after compiling 11 penalties Florida statement ten for 100 yards today approaching two 30 on the clock in this game Florida state with second and 12 down by two against the number 14 team in the country, 5 wide empty backfield for Travis, who takes the shotgun snap drops back, throwing, lofting it up and cuts Johnny Wilson across the 45 to move the chains down the field a huge pickup for the Seminole

"Inside the ten to a long field ahead of Florida state, a lot of time on the clock that they can be in commando. Yeah, they got the full compliment of the Robins right now. Four 25, which signals to me too. Offensively, what have we seen from them in this half? It's almost all been run that involves pulling offensive linemen. Giving guys on the move that create a bunch of natural space for defenders to shoot up field, which has been your biggest problem as an offense. Let them go out there and run outside zone inside zone, get thick double teams, and be able to account for those first level players first. Give your running back to quarterback a chance to go and impact the second level of this defense with their legs. The first in ten from the 8 does it start to get loud here at harder Finley stadium in rawly number 14 NC state clinging to a two point lead, but Florida state trying to pull an upset with the ball. And the hand doctor Lawrence to affiliate will be quickly stopped near the line of swimming to multiple wolfpack players. But standing out Drake Thomas making the plan. Yeah, I do not recommend running to where Drake Thomas is the overhang player again. Multiple guys trying to pinball off of him, never going to be a winning formula against one of the best tacklers in the ACC. Empty backfield Ford Jordan Travis. 5 wide receivers on second and 9 from their own 9. Taking the shotgun snap is crab is just staying out of his own end zone and that's going to be thrown complete across the 15 it's caught by Lawrence to a feeling. Really generous spot on that play there. They're giving him first down yardage. I thought he was a bit short, but now some breathing room for this Florida state offense. Brings it out to their own 19 three 34 on the clock as it continues to run here in the fourth quarter, Florida state with the ball driving down by two have not scored in this second half. "1207 on the clock remaining in this game. A couple of ACC heavyweight FSU and NC state, a one point game here early in the fourth and after a 56 yard field goal That kick off will not be taken out of the end zone a touchback and Florida states offense coming out onto the field, but an update on the NC stateside quarterback Devin Leary was spotted on the sideline in street clothes with a sling on his right shoulder he left the game in the third quarter back up Jack chambers taking his place. Absolutely brutal. Devin Leary, authored a record setting season, no ACC quarterback had ever had a 35 touchdown 5 interception season, just one of four quarterbacks in FPS to do that in the last decade and a huge leader in important cog for this team that they're going to be without for the rest of the game. First and ten from their own 25 trade Benson off the right hip. And he will take the handoff going up the middle he is quickly wrapped up near the line of scrimmage Drake Thomas came to make the stock. And if you're Jordan Travis and company, you got to start shooting down the field again because this linebacking core and D line. Teeing off, getting up the field on you. You try to go misdirection on that one, but when you've got an offense that featuring a lot of pullers right now, and you saw two offensive lineman pulling them at play. It creates seams. And when you've got this three three 5 defense, you have guys coming from all different levels. It gets you so off balance as an offense and a backed you up there. Second and ten from the 25. Travis takes the shotgun snap, play action, still on his feet, and he's going to throw it into the ground incomplete. Let's pause ten seconds to station identification. This is called football Saturday night. This is the great voice of the Great Lakes, 7 60 W JR, Detroit, a cumulus media station. Third intent for Florida state's offense still from their own 25 1124 on the clock in this game and empty back you'll 5 wide receivers coming up for Jordan Travis. "The defensive tackle. I mean, forklifting him off the ground and Harris clearly felt some type of way about that after the play. I'm sorry, excuse me. That was savion Jackson that he was tied up there with him. Dumped him late after the play there. It was probably borderline. By Dylan gibbons, the former Notre-Dame transfer has come over and in the NIL era done such a great job with his foundation raising money. All that to underscore Dylan given outstanding human being off the field, what he's done, big man, big heart, but on that play, I don't hate it. That kind of finish sends a message up front on the offensive line. He's taught to play through the echo of the whistle Alex Atkins who's their offensive coordinator and line coach, probably loves that, but it gets you in a bad situation here now for a half where you've already struggled offensively. Third down and 17 from their own 18 after they are backed up, the NC state deep ends trying to get the crowd loud on this long third down 5 wide receivers empty backfield for Jordan Travis. He drops back in the pocket, has plenty of time fires. This one hard and incomplete. It was knocked away by NC state Cyrus fagan in on that play against his Alma mater. And backed up at that distance the trouble was sitting at three three 5, he got three deep safeties and Cyrus fagan clamps down on that attempt for Michael Pittman. And that penalty, the undoing Florida state

"That new car smell with their coaching changes, and then you still have bam of Georgia and Ohio State at their highest peaks still picking off the elite players in the state. The vision norvell was selling on the recruiting trail doesn't work after two and a half years and only half your staff can actually recruit. So now it becomes proof of concept and seeing it happen on the field. And that's why to your point, they hit the transfer portal so hard. And this has to be a year where you get to 7 wins. And the national sentiment to me is wrong, that this will be norvell's last year if they don't get there. Now, I guess anything's possible if this catastrophic to intend type season unfolds. I don't think it will. But Florida state desperately needs a winning record this year. If not, norval will be a lame duck coach next year. And I think really you need to think about this the right way because a lot of people seem to hate norvell. Whether you love or hate him, one thing is unquestionable. If it doesn't work out in a new coach comes in over the next two to three years, that coach will start his journey in a far better position because of Mike norvell. How important when you look at Florida state schedule is the week two game against LSU in New Orleans to try and restore some of that legacy and create optimism early on in a campaign. Where if you win that game, there's no reason to believe you can't beat Louisville on the road, which won't be easy. Take care of business at home against BC and then set up a schedule where maybe you go in three and one four zero and before you see wake forest at NC state and Clemson, a pivotal three game stretch that could define what this team is capable of accomplishing. One thing we said last year is you had to start well for the recruiting class because once you get to October in the early signing period, most players know where they want to go at that point. So it's vital to start. You'd rather start good early than end hot, right? The LSU games massive, both in perception, plus you get them at the right time. This is year three for Mike norvell. And you have a first year coach in LSU that had to hit the transfer portal very hard. That is a monster game for them. You can tell how important of a season it is, right? Not just the transfer portal, but Mike norvell is going to call place this season. And you look at the one area as Mike novella former receiver, what did he do? The receiving corps was upgraded via the portal. So you bring in a mic at a Winston right junior, Johnny Wilson to do span all into that receiver room. I think what's interesting when you start to look a little bit at the offense as well. O line has improved there. The floor of the receiver room has elevated you're hoping for star Malik maclean has to take that next step. You're hoping that dust dust and hill shows up on campus here pretty soon. The floor of the receiver room is higher at the floor of the O line is higher. You look only one receiver last season for Florida state average more than 1.4 yards per route run. The most efficient pass catchers were running back. So basically in the Mike norvell offense, how it operates. He sets up his wide receivers in position to win one on one battles and they're just weren't a lot of guys that could win those last year. Floor states still does not have a natural tackle starter. But again, I think the floor gets raised with the transfers. You have bless Harris, Kate and lyles, Dimitri Manuel, along with the three four star freshman along the offensive line. I think FSU was clearly better as run blockers than past protectors, fringe top 50 in line yards and opportunity rate last year. The problem was when Florida state was forced to pass the O line couldn't hold. 2.3 seconds until pressure arrived and known passing situations. In total, 159 pressures allowed a 37% pressure rate allowed for Florida state's own line. When you parse through all the downs and focus only on third down and known passing situations where defenses kind of pin their ears back and get after the quarterback, your lack of a natural tackle showed itself a shoe allowed 44% pressure rate and an 18% sack rate on that third down, partly battle line play, partly quarterback holding on to it too long, partly receivers not having the ability to beat man coverage. You put it all together and that's why you have an offense a 117th and third and fourth down success rate. I think we know at this point Jordan Travis is an elite passer, but he's made enough strides. If you keep him clean, if you allow him to throw with play action, he does very well with that stuff. Once norvell figured out Jordan needed to be his full-time starting quarterback, the offense improved. But that didn't really happen until the Syracuse game after starting Owen for. But if you look at Jordan Travis from the Syracuse game on, Travis had a one 50 passer rating, good for 16th best among power 5 quarterbacks, plus he provides that extra man advantage in the run game because he's so mobile. Floor states offense is going to improve barring one thing. A Jordan Travis injury. He's added good weight. He's up to about 210 pounds right now. He's not a big guy, puts his body on the line. He missed the NC state game last year and is part of the Florida game. And the things behind the scenes, nobody sees, is what it takes for Jordan Travis to get ready to play that week. He misses a lot of practices. That's not great when you have four brand new transfer wide receivers as you kind of work on chemistry. AJ Duffy is a true freshman. Tate rodemaker isn't good, but improved enough to where Florida state couldn't thread the needle for a transfer quarterback. As you couldn't find someone better than Jordan Travis one's dillingham left for organ. But there's not a lot of quarterbacks wanting to transfer to a school to become a backup again. So FSU could legitimately win two games of Jordan Travis gets injured. In the opening weekend, or gets injured in the LSU game. The other hurdle offensively Todd. NC state and clumps are on the schedule. Two defenses we project in the top ten, four more defenses in our top 40 and an additional three defenses that are fringe top 50. So the schedule of defense is quite daunting for FSU's offense. Defensively, I mean, we know about Jermaine Johnson's drop it in the draft all. Some people had them forecasted going inside the top ten. I think he becomes a steel where he ends up coming off of the board. But now it is Florida state Louis him, they lose care Thomas as well. Do a combined for a 112 tackles, 18 and a half sacks and 30 tackles for loss. You look at the current defensive ends on Florida state's roster and it's not exactly the deepest group by any stretch of the imagination. Now in the defensive backfield, maybe there's reason for optimism. I mean, you read some of the prognostications out there. They're calling this safety tandem, arguably the program's best since 2017 when Derwin James was back there alongside Trey Marshall. Defensively for Florida state. Do you feel like there are a lot more dudes capable of making plays and forcing disruptions havoc plays and the occasional turnover to set Florida state's offense up for a little bit of success? There is no Derwin James out there. Let that be clear. I spoke with Brad prior to FSU spring game..

"Thousand dollar free bet whether it's a twenty percent free royal fan duel has a myriad of ways to get your bankroll into the business of making money. This fall go there. Use the promo code at the board and take full advantage pain. I wanted to what you thought of what you saw unfold last saturday in college football. And if you want we can let you sidestep the debacle at the doak. There doesn't need to sidestep but that was a terrible loss and falls on the coaching staff. Adam fuller has not been good for a season plus now and my feeling is if him and norval weren't close and there is a little more resources that's a fireable events and mike norville went into that presser after and claimed that they were in a defense that they were not it and kind of covering fuller so that was interesting. They're not to game. That's on mark norville as well. I mean my understanding was early in the week. Practice was absolute dog crap. You had the the florida guys who you know. Four stars thinking that you know competed with notre dame and that this was going to be an easy one and i think that mindset was really on the coaches as well i mean what is mike norville doing. I understand that mackenzie milton might give you the higher floor. I'm sorry the higher ceiling and he lets recruits. See that this is the offense that you wanna run. That isn't just A ground and pound game with your quarterback running but those are games. You have to get out there and win. You can't lose that game. You can't you gotta put jordan travis in there make a low variance game. Run the football when by seventeen and get out of dodge so that was not very good from florida state and its coaching staff. Yeah this oregon. Oh god ohio state. Yeah exactly. I mean i you know i. I think that was a really game effort. I mean we saw tim to ruder. Give shroud some issues early in that game crystal ball on the offensive line enforced there. Will the question marks. We had about ohio states. Defense was more in the secondary but they got bullied upfront in the trenches. And so you know give give credit to some of the guys that were projecting ohio states defense outside the top twenty five. At the beginning of the season. They were bang on accurate. Stroud still making some mistakes for guys starting his second game but i thought they were stretches there were he looked fantastic. Three receivers went over one hundred yards receiving. But he's still throwing the ball a little bit high. Still making some young quarterback mistakes but give all the credit in the world oregon. There you go on the road. And i think we discussed this ri- you lost two days of prep and rest another day traveling. You're all world defensive. Lineman is out. You're down to linebackers. You did it. Short handed and so organ deserves all the credit in the world for them. Honestly and i'll eat a little bit of. I've been critical of mario cristobal and his ability to get his team focused and ready to go each and every week during the season. I can't take shots anything. He's done recruiting wise to build up that talent level oregon and employer brand of football. That you talked about you. Just don't see on the west coast going out there and trying to be hard nosed play with that physical swagger of sorts that we saw from david show and stanford who's at the peak. Didn't think that kind of effort was in the cards. So i have to give oregon a ton of credit thought ohio. State's offense kind of right. The ship is you kind of mentioned there defensively. We knew the secondary was a problem. Did not think that oregon was going to be able to run the football for seven yards pop. So some interesting games there. They'll shake up. The landscape obviously did want to touch on notre dame but we'll break them down for their upcoming matchup against purdue and you know honestly may make the most sense for us to get right into things is we have a lot of land to cover and we can do is so right in your backyard payne with a twelve o'clock eastern kickoff where the suddenly spry spartans come in to hardrock stadium. It's miami a six and a half point home favourite in the heat of the south florida day. Total in this game sits at fifty six and a half at fan sports book and pain when you look at mel tucker is bunch. Clearly the offense has been a welcome breath of fresh air and wins over north western. And of course last weekend's fcs member youngstown state. But i think when you try and dive in this game the biggest match up to try and identify how things are going to go. We'll be that michigan state offensive line. Paving the way for kenneth walker against the miami defensive line that hey look we'll throughout the alabama game a lot of teams are gonna make Alabama's gonna make a lot of teams look bad. But what do we expect from the canes upfront against michigan state. Road graders so let's let the listeners. Know what the heck we're doing this week. We are going to change some things up. Todd posted a poll on what was the fifth game. You would like to hear us breakdown. We're gonna discuss that game. Obviously but we wanted to talk about more games. So what we're going to do is six games today. The first four are going to be like one key factor. The biggest thing that we think plays a role in the outcome of the game. And then we'll have deep dives for penn state auburn and alabama florida. So that's what we're doing here. I think this is probably the right way to approach. Is people want more games and so this felt like a week where there is a lot of those ones kind of on the cost of making the cut or not and so i think we said. Hey let's kind of discuss a couple of these. This is interesting. When you look at michigan and miami you'd dig into you know things past the power number and some things that stand out that are impactful but trying to always gauge. The the largest factor can be a little bit difficult. And i think you hit this perfectly one of the factors. Certainly the heat of miami have you. Have you seen the the weather projected. It's not good if you're training in. Northern climates now..

"Out. Rockets. They must have known what they wanted and not have the right personnel on the field. And that happens sometimes in first games, you're so used to practice being with the right guys, and you can get called out onto the field in the middle of practice and get embarrassed a little bit. When you're not on the field during a game. I've got to take a time out, which is a coaching point tomorrow and meeting. Florida state led 22 17 in the third quarter, but Notre Dame has scored 21 consecutive points. Sequence coming up here as Florida State will try and stop that streak and get on the board 13 55 left in the game. Trailed by 18 38 to 20. So you heard Jeff Flanagan mentioned that Notre Dame second time out. If you're with us at the beginning of the second half, remembered Jack home called a time out before the very for snap. Notre Dame has one left now both sides back on the field, Jordan Travis in the shotgun, facing third and goal from the eight yard line. Here comes a big time blitz right at the middle. He rolls out to his left. Now back out to his right looks into the end zone fires two yards deep in the end zone Caught touchdown. Florida State Andrew Parchman transfer from Kansas stayed with Travis as he rolled out left and flared out back to his right. Down parchment about two yards beyond the goal line, eight yard strike. He's showing Helton, the wide receiver, quite a swing pass behind the line of scrimmage by himself. Made one move to juke out Clarence Lewis that sprung him into the end zone.
