"Not being available. Both for injury, which is beyond your control, no one would hold that against you. But also being unavailable for reasons that have nothing to do with an injury. Where you just need time to go off and do what you do. While everyone else is at work and on this same journey in quest, galvanized as a unit to try to win this championship. And so I think what's different about this one is the history behind Kyrie and some of the some of the other times in that history where he has been unavailable for his own personal reasons. Yeah. I want to also be there to Kyrie, but I do too. And I was talking it was funny because I was talking to somebody, at least last night about this. And the biggest thing that I were talking about how, you know, Kyrie's not the first person to have this unvaccinated stance. And especially in the NBA, so does he feel the person, you know, just, you know, throw out is potentially be targeted. My answer to that was, I don't think this would have been as polarizing if Kyrie didn't have the history that he has. If he didn't, I think people forget that he left the team without talking last year without telling anyone on the nets that he was leaving for a family reason or anything. But he didn't tell anybody about this. And then we get the this goes back to my point of when he gets in trouble. He's talking about how he's fighting for something. Last time he was talking about how he's fighting for it came out, maybe he's fighting for workers comp. But workers comp in the NBA or PTO in the NBA, right? That workers now. But PTO. And when we take PTO, we gotta take a tell our bosses, you know, no matter what walk of life this is, right? But we forget all of what that happened. And I think if there was, if this was just an isolated incident in Kyrie, didn't have a history of this. I think that we would probably give him the grace that he's asking for during this time. Am I wrong on that? I think that that's really the biggest thing is if this history of Kyrie wasn't the history of Kyrie, we'd probably be on a side, but it's just a gradual thing because you worked with him in Cleveland and it keeps on going and we've seen this we've seen it in Boston. We've seen this in and now in Brooklyn. And it's just been a pattern so far. And I don't think we would have been as hard on him about this if there wasn't such a pattern. Yeah, well, let me be clear. I didn't see this in Cleveland. There weren't any issues with anything like that. He seemed to be fine. The team was fine, and then, you know, I was on. They went on to win a championship. And whatever transpired there after I left, I wasn't privy to. So I didn't get to see that. I've watched from afar, though. And I do think it's fair that you take history and his history into account. When you're forming an opinion on what's going on right now. I, however, without its history, still would not be on his side. I wouldn't be on his side because I try to put myself in the position of someone on that team that would have been similar to me in my career. Someone who looked around this off season and said, you know, one of two scenarios probably, man, I'm older, what's the best opportunity to minimum guy at this point? What's the best opportunity for me to win a championship?.

"Logan Murdock here, Raja bell there. This is a real one. Raja this is our first. Let's just call it for celebration before we get into the shits. This is our first Thursday show of the season, man. This is a dawn of a new era. We're going back to our Monday, Thursday. Schedule of real ones. This is our first Thursday. We couldn't do Monday because I was a company holiday, but we are back on track two days out of the week started next week where the seasons start first Thursday's show Raja, how you feeling dog? Ready to go, baby. I'm rejuvenated, rested. I'm ready to go. I mean, I got you. I should take it off my chest, Logan. You know what I'm gonna lie man. I know this is a Thursday show. I couldn't sleep worth shit last night. I was like, the first day of school. I'm not alone. I'm capping. But I didn't see last night and I'm ready to go right now, though. Let's just get to it. Let's get right into it, man. It's funny because I were talking pre-production. And you know, there's just sometimes where on my podcast is out there on my pod fathers and pod mothers and all the all my peeps out there. Everybody out there knows. Sometimes you just don't the rundown is just getting hard, right? Where you just don't know what you're going to put on to your program. You have no idea what's going to happen. And then, you know, right at night, you know, you do your googles and stuff and something happens, where you're just like, oh, this is going to not only lead our show. It might just carry our show, and that happened. Last night in the days before our show, and that is the saga. Of one Kyrie Irving, Raja, who went on and I actually live 19 minutes. I didn't see the full 19 in his life. I actually found it on, you know, the nets daily. The SB nation aside for the nets. But you actually watched it a little bit. You did the social media guy now. You're head of socials for ringers for ringer ruins. And you got a chance to check it out. There's a lot of stuff going on. Can you just give me your raw thoughts on what you saw from that 19 minute clip from unvaccinated Kyrie Irving, please? Yeah, first of all, I didn't watch the whole 19 because I don't know, like 8 or 9 minutes into it. I tapped out. I was kind of like when I say that the people who hop in my DMs sometimes you can just miss me with some of that. It's just I felt confused, I guess is the best way to put the way I felt 8 or 9 minutes into it. I just felt like you were kind of all over the place. Left me feeling kind of like you're looking for different places and different reasons and different explanations that kind of fit the narrative. Maybe trying to paint yourself as the victim in this to some degree. Yeah. And for that, I just couldn't listen anymore. And so I didn't watch the whole 19 minute. Yeah. And in the 19 minute IG clip, he talked about how he's doing what's best for him to not get vaccinated. He alluded to not alluded to being told one thing about vaccinations in the summer by the nets that he could get maybe an exemption by the nets or maybe by the New York. I don't know it's unclear right there, but he thought that he could get an exemption from getting the vaccine. And he says he's not anti vaxx, but he is trying to speak up for the people without a voice. Who don't want to put things into their bodies. And I do feel like most times and I want to give Kyrie the benefit of the doubt. I do feel like sometimes he or most times is heart seems to be in the right place. I guess what these things but it always seems to come up when he gets himself in trouble. I'm just not speaking up for the media because the media are pawns. They're not going to do they're not saying the right thing. Most times, we don't really hear what you're talking about. You never talk to us and when you do, it's a lot of misguided stuff. It's a lot of stuff that there's some truth and a large majority of it that gets to put out there is not truth from you from your words. And what makes the Kyrie hold out different from all the other holdouts that we've seen when we talk about Ben Simmons, we would talk about the NFL 'cause you know we're both NFL, guys. What's the biggest thing with this holdout? When it comes to a team, then other holdouts that we see were players do good support from things like this. When they do get support from their teams, when you get support, maybe from some people in the front office. But what is different between this holdout and other holdouts that you've seen? It's a good question, Logan, and it's hard to digest all of that, right? Because there's a lot that goes into that. Yeah. Most other things, I would say history. You have a history of.

"You must be crazy. Used a d. o. g. And if you was my man. I would have been kicked you out of my house by now. This is what had happened. Goodness gracious what's going on by the way. Thank you for that and welcome back to the show. Lines are available at one. Eight hundred eight seven a play all right As i said winter meetings are underway and We saw a couple of trades already. Let's go to those phone lines. And we have my main man charlie and manhattan. What's up charlie. Hey what's going on buddy That's funny we decided observation. Usually when people say hey. How's it going. You don't wait for a response because you just assume you're doing well. I'll wait for respond. How are you doing. I'm doing all right. How about you It's snowing here in the big apple we actually have heard. I heard it was freaking freezing. Oh the twenties. It's it's not fun to running for sure. it is called Yeah definitely anyway I know you're just talking about baseball but i want her to have a football and basketball question I have had on a side. Note are raiders. Burnin spencer where. Which doesn't bode well for jacobs being ready for this weekend and quarterback worley which i guess means that is probably not going to be playing that was i just read that on online You were talking about the hall of fame today. He li- manning you think he belongs in the whole thing. Well on pure talent. I would say no but as far as the rings. And you say yeah. He's a lock because he played in new york So he's in. He's as good as in But there are quarterbacks that are worse than him in the hall. I'm not gonna cry about it when he goes in the the interesting thing about eli. Is that You know he was always a very white guy you know for just reminded me like a guy in a market like that. Kinda reminds me a clayton. I on la just to a quiet guy. Not too brash. But i remembered child. I don black hard. I think there should only be about thirty or forty people in the hall of fame as it is. I agree. I think you know know i agree with you. I think if you have to pause and think about it then you probably don't belong in i don't. He was historically averaged quarterback. You know outside of big gains. And i don't know if that to me i don't think that's enough to put him in curious what you take with on him. Because you know you actually. Us giant fans around here you know. Oh yeah i. I don't hate the job is. I'm not a hater. I feel like you said he liked manning's very quiet. They never never had much like derek. Jeter you never hear anything about him. he went about his business. But i just let statistically in his career is a very average quarterback for the most part. But you know i was just wondering what your take Basketball question Before i have mentioned before a clay injury that warrants pushing to get a hardy. So i was reading online and they decided that they were gonna go to direction but i was reading something online and in this guy i think a bay area writer. I forget his name but he. He made an argument that if he were the warriors blockage are still open to moving with which appears he wants to get That he thinks a package of maybe weightings weisman Next year's one in the future one could possibly lantam Would you do that move. Yes you would you attack next one and two players and then Twenty six twenty twenty three one. Yes because i think we're going to be back to the I can't even remember the name of the kid. We draft draft last year in the first round I'm an equal was his name judge jordan jordan pool and jacob evans. I think those are the guys we would be trading. At this point it would be tough to give up a wise move before. He's dribbled one basketball but you know with harden and then you have curry on the court and there's no clay. I mean he could do. He doesn't play. He doesn't do it. Katie does obviously. He's a lot shorter. But i would be excited about it. You know i mean it would be something even though he's a Supposed to be a headache and a miyagi. When it doesn't play any defense. I would still roll the dice on that. Yeah right is argument. Was that says what's his great eyesore abilities and driving to the basket and defenses having collapsed on him for the curry. Just be sitting out there with wide open threes and then next year. You're assuming klay comes back close to one hundred percent or whatever it comes back to You know and hard with the under two years of contract that that they would even be deadlier next year but he the divider was pointing out. This t think it'd be a lot better and..

"Time we've ever been without the Warriors in our lives. Somebody cue the Billy Joel. I haven't been there for the longest time, by the way her John Lennon. I mean, I heard Billy Joel tell a really cool story about John Lennon. You might be glad to hear that. I got a positive thing to say about Billy Joe. He said that the night that he heard the news tonight that John Lennon was shot. Tragically. He said he was so destroyed it to know what do you know the story, Murph. You know this one? No. Yeah, he said he just jumped on his motorcycle, and he said he was so overwhelmed with grief. He realized once he was on the road because I forgot my helmet. I forgot my glasses. He was just like peeling down the road, and they said he went into a bar. And whenever he saw that there was a piano in the corner, so he went to the panel and just started singing and playing John Lennon songs and then as people realize, Oh, that's Billy Joel over there, they all kind of gathered around. And then he said, the next thing you know, like the whole place was singing Beetle tunes together, So there's a Billy Joel were the only one I probably ever offer that on Stern. What's that? Was that on Stern? No, I found it online. I was just like looking at different footage and different links last night. I really did like a little John Lennon kind of moment of reading the Breslin column. Of course I did. Four sided. Very good. That's incredible. Yeah, Yeah, It's pretty powerful stuff anyway. Yeah, I didn't think I'd get lyrics or lyrics and an anecdote. Well, you said it's been the longest time and I figured Well, no better time to introduce Hop song. That's his tribute to the fifties. Right? Can I tell you a little secret? Between you and me? Nobody else gets to know. Actually kind of like that to him. How about that? Don't tell him that bad things are happening. Things are happening. Okay? Don't tell him just like things were happening with the Golden State warriors as they get ready to kind of easing back in that Discouraging news about James Wiseman and Draymond Green. I want to clarify some from yesterday. Go ahead when I said they tested positive. They tested positive on December 1st Not not yesterday's okay. So in other words, there well into their quarantine, and in fact James Wiseman was in the building yesterday. I guess which means I don't know what that means. Covert wise it But he was not allowed on the court, obviously, but ready for this. He was standing on a balcony. So if you've been to the new chasing their practice facility they have Sort of that balcony Workers, offices and all those guys and all. Totally Yeah, yes, And he was on the balcony watching practice with Zaza. Nice and they said Zaza was taken him through, like some of the sets and kind of pointing to, you know, places on the court where he should be and all that. So I don't know if you just wanna Let your mind real Andre Zaza raising a young James Wiseman very there, but I liked it to Connor Letourneau has a big story about Jordan pool in today's Chronicle. We're gonna have Connor on today at 9 30. Cool part of the news. Is that pool cut his hair. All right, so okay, Well, that's okay with me. Yeah, dreadlocks. It says Here. Congo sources. Those close to Jordan pool believe the new hairdo represents a personal transformation of sorts. Polly, I think it does, because a lot of people that I've not this is what I've heard, anyway, A lot of people like you heard Kravitz talked about this saying that like when you cut dreadlocks It is. It's some kind of I can't speak the obvious. I've never had dreads, but people who have dreads say that when you cut them it is It's like a transformative kind of experience. Where, like your all of your past is that God? I don't know. It wasn't about me that I've had the same haircut for 45 years. Yeah, well, that you're I don't know You got a steady hand. I guess I don't know, you know, And you do actually murdered does have a pretty steady him. So little guy in history, the world. Hey, Um, current did say Jordan Pool has been the most consistent worker on the team. Who said that curry, Steve Steve Kerr Soaker. OK, good. That's good to hear me out. He's been a Chase center, and he says he's also cut back on his social media, which is a good idea for any of us. I agree. I think these are all very positive things. So he shaved the dreads. He's hard working, and he is off the social media or America it back. That sounds pretty positive to me. It's the year of Jordan Pool or the year of Steph Curry there, so yeah, he kicked around. Recently the idea of signing an extension with the Warriors. I get to the point where I lose track of how much money Joe Lake up can truly spend like It's he have. A wellspring of unlimited resource is Don't worry about the hip wellspring Polly. He e. Don't know how long he could do this where you just keep the he's He don't think he's paying luxury taxes like it's a bridge toll. You know what I mean? He's like for what we're hoping is a four seed like this isn't like Heard Marcus on with copes today on the leadoff spot. And Marcus. You made a joke about something about title title teams. Um, on the way out cops, he said something about like it, Z. What was the joke about somebody? He said something about a title team. And Marcus said, Well, then we won't be talking this year or so. Just like that. When I talked to mark I was joking. I said, Yeah, we'll catch up with you down the road, one when the Warriors make their title run, and he said that it will be for the rest. It won't be this season, he said. That was pretty interesting. Jellicles paying over $300 million for a team that almost that nobody in the NBA believes can win a championship. No, probably not this year, you know, but again, like if you're a fan, I don't know what more you could want or ask for you guys like a dream.

"The huddle start of our twelve o'clock hour here and Zach I did want to dig it as this question. And I'm curious to to gauge your thoughts. Your dialed in you cover the basketball team for the Michigan insider, someone asked me if Jordan pool going pro or making an official how this is going like the the ripple effect. Does this have an impact on Ignace day kiss? Now. I mean, he probably we we've we've long said the last couple of weeks, we feel he is most likely going to stay in the NBA draft. But with Jordan pool officially declaring. Does he say, hey, if I come back to Michigan now, I don't have to honestly share the ball with Jordan pool? But you know, I'm a bigger focal point of this offense. Because I know that Jordan is not coming back. And also the other side of this does this make does this help John. Beeline, a little bit in the recruitment of Justin Pierce, the grad transfer from William and Mary because he can say look I one hundred percent there's maybe a little bit of question. But I one hundred percent. It's public have a spot for you on next year's team. Yeah. I think the there's minor ripple effects. Someone talking our line. What was weird kinda weird? Anyway. Feel like someone on the phone or something. Yeah. Anyway, we miss MS desperate to get ticket back in here. Anyway, now minor affect I mean, you know, at least as you said they can say with one hundred percent certainty. That's. Can say with one hundred percents certainty that he's gone, but at the same time, I think Nissan, Highland even said, yeah, they told me that they're shooting guard is going to stay in the draft. And so they have a spot for me. That would sound like they've already known as for Iggy. Still think something's going to have to happen. Like he's going to have to really struggle at the combine or really fall off the board. For him to change his mind. But because because again, he probably knew Jordan pool was gone. And you know, one thing we didn't really get to talk about with with the quotes from Jordan polls, dad. This was not decided I mean, this was a while ago. This was like maybe before they even came home from Anaheim. It was decided so. You know, it's not like AIG been like, oh, well, Nahla Jordan pools got no he's known how it's been going for a while. I think he's in a similar boat where he wants to go. I don't think he's going to. He's not go. No matter what anyone says. But he's probably go as long as it's a top fifty pick. And it's hard for me to envision him. Not being a top fifty pick. You know, he's he's the one guy that's consistently put in the top fifty in these mock drafts. And and I think the combine and getting to work out with these teams individually could help him. But if it doesn't then. Yeah, maybe he's looking and saying, okay. A lot of points there. Charles Matthews and Jordan, Peugeot, both double digit scores. It is very feasible. I could if I may I could store eighteen tonight. So. You know? That's that's I don't know that scoring the basketball more needs to be what Iggy showcases to the next level. But it'd be exposure. And he'd get the what you're right. I shouldn't have said points. That's a lot of shots on night. Yeah. He's going to get to show what he can do if he were to come back every step of the way. But no, I I don't I think the ripple effect is pretty minimal or nominal. But I do think if say Pierce go somewhere else and FRANZ wants to stay pro. Introducing themselves to new targets. They can say, hey, there's a spot. They don't have to say there will be a spot. They can say there is a spot. So maybe minor I'd say like a out of one hundred five max so not much. Now, the you know peers is supposed to visit North Carolina this weekend. If I do remember correctly here, and then just gonna make us after that. I think the the goal is to have a decision made by maybe survey second or third when he graduates from William, and Mary so that shouldn't be that much longer that Michigan has to wait to know. The Giambi lines are gonna go visit Ron FRANZ Wagner in Germany. By then he should probably have a pretty good feel for if they're getting Pearson the the relatively new targets on the Sean Highland. So, you know, all these things just kind of clear themselves. I thought it was when reading about I think it was in Sports Illustrated had their their big board and talking about Iggy and said that he's an intriguing prospect NBA people because of fact that he is. You know, he can he can be a water different. You can be three or four, but they did mention he's a little bit. You know, he's a little bit slow and the word by this defensively. With also said he can create his own shot. He can shoot from all over on the floor. He can go to the basket with both hands ambidextrous thing is really appealing to a couple of general managers. And so, you know, reading a tea leaves now, this is just a an NBA scouts opinion. But Rena tea leaves. I mean, he sounds like a I would say pretty good bet to be going in those top that top fifty. Yeah. Yeah. I think with him. It's almost say can creep into the first round like three straight years. Michigan has had someone projected second round. They ended up being top twenty five picks. So. Yeah. We'll see how it goes. I my assumption is that he would he's gone. I still think you know, until until there's a declaration with him. You know, 'cause not not this is I I don't mean to put it phrase it like this. But like he goes in like breaks his leg tomorrow. I think there's a good bet that he comes back. He's not going to be able to work out for these teams and improve stock and things like that. So you just never know. I think mentally he's he's pretty ready to go. Pro. I think he always wanted to be a one and done. And I think we even predicted in October that there was a pretty good chance that he would be. I think I think you have to look at. Forgot where I was going to say. Oh, yeah. I think I think he wants to go pro I think as long as he has the chance he's going to we mentioned top fifty picks top all forty seven of the top fifty picks have multi year, guaranteed deals. So probably probably not much is going to change their. But but I think he is he is going to it's a little bit more like a MO Wagner. Charles Mathews type decision where he is going to look at whether he'll be drafted where he'll be drafted or where they expect him to be drafted and he'll make decision on that not. I'm going pro no matter what happens which is what Matthews in pool were. Well, certainly it will be engineer going forward. When is the as may before they have to make their made twenty ninth. I think I don't think we're going to be waiting until. Then personally, I think my hunch is it's going to be a go to the combine all three could get invited to the combine. And then as long as he doesn't have a bad combine, he'll say, okay. Time to go. 'cause 'cause Jordan pulls data is right. They do. And this is why they allow you to sign with agents. Now is they do kind of look teams kind of look at you differently. If you're like testing, the waters versus going pro. Burn the boats gets the island whatever it is. It's and it's a little unfair. But I get it. I mean, you know, it's like an intern versa. I and employees. On someone else to I don't know. It's just you don't take quite seriously. So I think if he gets the traction he's expecting to get I think he'll I think he would declare sooner than later. Well, it'll whatever it is. I mean at this point Michigan's lost two and very likely lose in the third. But I'll say what I what I consistently say. It'd be lying I trust. So still feel really good about whatever happens here for Michigan basketball. All right coming up next as we get back into some more six on six questions. You know, have a little fun with this cameo. I'm sure Linda, it'll be great conversation fodder for you for the next phone. Call. As we go forward here. And then looking at Tigers wings lions is are we on the verge of a golden era in Detroit sports as bad as it is right now are we if we're at the basement we look forward to a meteoric rise in the coming years since had on sports talk. Ten fifty W ticket drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children fourteen and under in Michigan. That's why teaching our kids to be safe around water and learning how to swim are necessities. Not luxuries..

"Yet. None of them already yet. Baby come back, and they broke it down. It was impressive. I like. Wow. Really? I guess. We take that break. We come back. I'll read some of those it was like, wow, they were they were like. Personal right messages personal to them saying, no, you're not ready yet. You have a lot of talent. But you're not there yet. Not yet. And they did agree with you. Charles Matthews is the one that's more ready than the than aggies next and then Jordan pool, and I'm looking at this. I'm like, and then I said well good God. And what game did I save on DVR save Wisconsin game? I don't know. Why say that we've kind, of course. But I'm like looking at it going. Okay. All right. I see what they say. It's just I mean, look, I got you know, I'm not being greedy. That's why I didn't get greedy as well. If you have to backing let one go I went if you can have one back and let to go who would you bring back of the three. Yeah. And you know, it is it's it's always tough. Because also it's personal allow these are personal no matter what like you said they're going to continue to develop their game in careers. But as they have to decide where they want to do it. I think all of them know if they make that jump that. There's a good chance that, hey, if I wanna play in the NBA, there's a good chance I might be in the G league for a year two years three years, whatever it may be. I mean the top stars. I just saw something where THEO Pinson he was the star at North Carolina hit the game winning shot. I think it was take the Long Island team to the G league finals. And again, he was an elite college player all those guys who play in the G league. Leap college player. You get you get you get paid for your services. You get paid to play basketball which for any basketball player. That's the dream to make a livelihood out of doing that. So, you know, sometimes they gotta make that make that choice. We'll see how things we'll see how things shake out. But you know, again, we said here and DJ Wilson was the prime example. They had no one thought he should you know, he should've left and he ended up being I don't I mean, the only I think about it started. Well, I'm not gonna say only played one year. He started one year. Yep. I mean, he had he had a good good start. Because he they went out and played in a tournament in New York City. Remember, and he played really well. But in the in the middle of the season kinda faded out. I mean, we lost me became he became a ghost. I mean, he wasn't there. Then all of a sudden we made this run we got on that run in the big ten tournament. And he he came to like forget. And you're right. You make that big run. You get notice it it helps when you do it at the end of the year. And you do it in the biggest on the biggest stages that helps but also a lot of times, you only need to see glimpses out of a player didn't know that he has something that can make it at the next level. And you know, once he started hitting the three ball as much as he did, you know, six eleven and can handle the ball pretty, well, and can shoot we can we can work with that. I think Tim Hardaway junior the way that he, you know, there were some games where you know, because he had his ups and downs while he was at Michigan took over to Ohio State game. Yeah. Oh, yes. You'll his, you know, his freshman year played well software, you're kinda slumped and then that junior year, but yeah, that'll highest game was one. But some of those times where he would come off that curl and kinda hit that little mid mid range fadeaway kinda shy where you're like that that translates to the next level. So sometimes it's it's little things here. And there with right now, I think Iggy is probably the highest rated and. If if those three guys continue on to the draft will probably be taken I because people say there's a lot of things he can shoot with both hands. He's got a pretty good ball. He's reduction. He's got a pretty good size for him. So there's a lot that we can build on even though we've only seen him for one year. Patrick read the the masters is this week. And what they tell me Patrick reads up there. You know, that's the guy that he dear. He was going to wear red on on on Sunday. And they said, no come here. Now, you know, you got to tell you that they gave me nice like red pinkish kinda shirt ninety come here. Only one guy where it ran on that you every I I'm sorry. I don't mean to go weary took a hit with shoe break. And we can't take another. Although Tigers words, did you see he's wearing this new logo that Nike selling that has his club head on it? Joe's with the they did an interview last look, it's kinda neat to be. Yes, I speak golf every now. And then every once in a while, I'll I'll I'll stick my neck out every now and then. You know, what we need a break? You wanted to get that call right there because I don't want to mess this up. We're going to take a break, but we come back. Well, we should we take this call first before we take a break. Let's take this. Call. I. Go ahead. Mr. five o'clock was calling is are you ready for? Let's talk to him. What's up, Mike? How you doing? I Jame all I'd like to put the shoe on the other foot. You know, I was a salesman for awhile. It's one of the toughest jobs in the world. You know, you make what your own you earn which make? I'm thinking, you know, John B once you gotta put that salesman's hat on. Now who would he one hundred percent and to try to attract one of these three players that for next year? Who who do you think he would be going up through Matthews Iggy or pool? Well, I'm going to sit here, and I'm gonna play this game with young thinking that if if he if John had to recruit one of those three I'm thinking, he's gonna bring Iggy bet. I'm thinking he's going to try to get Agee to go back because he was the one that fit in the best for these guys. I mean, he he he was the leading scorer for this team. Yeah. I was that that other question where does he rank on all time for a freshman scoring. You know, I know that was up there. Hey, you guys have a good day, man. Thanks, Mike, pre-state the phone. Call. So before we go to a break. Here's what I'm gonna say. We're gonna come back from this break, the ninth caller that calls in Mets looking at me. So he's writing this down the ninth caller that calls in. It means you can start calling when we go to break. The night. Caller wins a pair of tickets to tomorrow's Tigers game. And you've got to come in and get them in the morning because the game is at one o'clock the game is at one o'clock. So these tickets will be sitting at the desk for you. "But I think Tennessee's got a little bit too much the only caveat to that is Tennessee has to rebound on the defensive end. This is a very good offensive rebounding Purdue team and if Tennessee gives up second shots, then Purdue wins by Tennessee's going to move on. All right. So that would. Them onto the elite eight jail. Let me turn to you here for the west region, Texas Tech, and you weren't Michigan wolverines what's the key tonight? This request. Okay. Michigan is best in the country taking care of basketball. Both of these teams in the top three defensively. I think breast Dc is has a big game. Or big leads us a score scoring. Don't underestimate Jordan pool beginning previously watch Matthews playing defense against Culver on the other side. The wolverines get it done tonight. And then the sake will be flowing, bro. The state. The other big match, Florida state, Gonzaga. We got full time to give Gonzaga the best compliment possible because they're not a big five school flock tried to term them a mainstream Cinderella that I believe has a legit chance to win it all including tonight hachi Muir Clark have been terrific the entire season. I think their debt I think their experience continues tonight, and they find a way to so those are the four games on tonight's schedule. And of course, there will be four more tomorrow. And that will include do a seven point favorite over Virginia Tech at the west gate, Las Vegas super book. Michigan state, North Carolina Kentucky will also be inaction as favorite tomorrow night. But let's talk about the blue devils. And here is the situation when you look at Duke, they are playing Virginia Tech and they last time when they played him where without Zion. So it does come with a bit of an asterisk, but Virginia Tech wasn't in full strings either. They were missing their starting guard just in Robinson's. When you think about this matchup? There are a lot of things to to point out. We told you the blue devil seven point favorite at the west eight in the last twenty years seven point favorites in the Sweet Sixteen or forty one. In two street up Duke has suffered both of those losses. So Virginia Tech Jay did beat Duke. But as I mentioned, it was without Diane. So what is their blueprint now that he will be playing in this game? You have to make Duke into a half court team, which is really difficult to do Zion. Williamson is we were discussing before is not only good on the offense event. He's good at turning defense into offense. So he can start something with a block shot. He can get a steal ticket the other way and all of a sudden they're getting their paint scoring off their defense. I think when you play against Duke, your offense is a real key not just score. But your offense has to help your defense. You cannot turn the ball over because Duke pressures at all over you cannot take a quicker a bad shot because they're ripping and running and taking it the other way if you're going to keep them out of. Transition you have to run good offense. And I think sometimes that gets lost a lot of times you think about you wanna hit shots make them take it out of the net. All that stuff Duke scores quickly when they take it out of bounce after a score. But if you don't run officiant offense, there's no way to keep out of transit Frank Martin coach with here. And so we're with me on this. Because hembo, when I did a deep dive on Duke earlier this season, and we came up with one I think extremely important statistic. No team in the last fifty years has won a championship getting as much of the scoring from two players as Duke does from RJ and from Zion. The key clearly is to try and get one of them. Ideally, I on because of the position that he plays into foul trouble. So if you're coaching against the team and your intention is let's get that kid into trouble..

"Lead for the wolverines over the hawk Jordan Bohannon is and I was actually pretty good pass. Although. Regards can't catch on us a point guard. The inability to beat a bigger player off the dribble is what limits Iowa they can't live without Jordan Bohannon, but he can't beat the elite defenders off the bounce. And sometimes they can't win with them as well. I awoke goes to a three zone and Jordan pool lights it up with a three on the right wing over Joey scam. Remember, he got the run out in the layup. That's gonna help any shooter feel better about himself. Michigan an eight zero run over the last one fifty three they've made their last three. Meanwhile, Iowa three minutes scoring drought. Luca Garza stops that inside when the double pivot patients for Luca Garza. He played very well against Michigan in the tournament last year. It's because Michigan likes to play with four perimeter players and Fran McCaffrey knowing that wants to go to him. Later Simpson at the point works on Bohannon to give back to Charles Mathews. Prostate in the corner will rise up for another three battle on the inside. Garza? Good shield out claims the rebound gives it up to Jordan Bohannon. Quick zip into the left corner. "They switch everything they sag off with Biggins debut Tillman who's been covering the ball screen, and they just trust that Davis is not gonna make that the three. All right. So one thing that we've noticed just from watching the huddle debt for Michigan state is going to be pressured a little bit more because it doesn't let Kyle orange going back to the locker room again. User battlements back injuries than locker room at least three times at least three John. And I know in past games that I've had for Michigan state. He's been giddy trying to warm the backup because everybody's had back injuries. A lot of times about Senate gives up the inflammation out getting the blood flow at a loosening up. But when you stop playing is what hurts the most Michigan would down with third seat on the shot clock. Three seventeen to play in the game down eight Simpson. Brandin John's is in for Michigan and a kickball by Jordan pool. So granted John's in for John Tuskegee, I dig off some engine allies Ahah livers, but his Brandon John's. What's it tell you if anything well, I mean trying to get some production out of his bench for for number one? I mean, you got to scrimp bench come tournament time Cowen on a strong take right side. Air balled. It rebounded by John's to Simpson pushing left to right to the trailer bras day one more corner. Three for pool rimmed out tapped out of bounds off, Brandon John. That's a pretty basketball and a pretty break gear. I mean, all starter were pool. One in the Florida way he did run into the corner. And all of a sudden you've got a trailer there. "Marquess your PA fell fat. Oh with you from Ann Arbor, Michigan when it's Ohio State and Michigan football great. Rivalry basketball's had some good rivalry over years. Little testy there about a minute ago. We saw four technical fouls issued the right now. Michigan in-command fifty two thirty eight seven thirty four. And that was the frozen frustration fouls for Ohio State because in the second half. Michigan is absolutely put the clamps on the twenty seven percent shooting. That's not going to get it done anywhere force. And they've made so many turnovers seventeenth turnovers to just seven for Michigan. So it's been all a wolverines. But while I think he's two coaches are classy guys, and they don't want the problem. The other thing is you don't wanna fight to break out. Now, they've got to do with suspensions and have to play without their players. You you do that for a week in this league? You may find yourself dropping three spots in the standings. So especially for house state who's have got some depth issues. Kyle young stress fracture, and he may be gone. For a month. I don't think either. I mean, Michigan's only had six different ways Jordan pool hitting the first two free throws from Michigan at seven thirty four to go. So let's not exactly like you're playing. Tagolo people either. Rule. Second order is good as well. Fifteen points for Jordan pool. Fifty four thirty eight Michigan seven and a half minutes to go in Ann Arbor. Sean. Nightside to Mohammed holding the ball past goes to Washington about ten feet beyond the arc pursued onscreen to the high post twelve shoot outside the woods on the left to the top two arms with eight still on top of the three point arc Muhammed with five Bahama crossover shoots at three missed it and pull glides in for the rebound. Bring it into the forecourt at it. Poked away fell out down lost its still on the floor. Washington comes away with it get the steel and the recovery. Not a Muhammed with under seven minutes to play drops it off for Washington with a ball fake comes across the screen at the top on the left side against livers passes stolen by Simpson. A steal. What a night for savior Simpson. Six forty to go. Great pass down low and down for Charles Matthews. The eleventh assist tonight for savior Simpson's. Vincent needs one point two rebounds for triple double. Don't see very many of those obviously the college game. And he's tonight. He's fifty six thirty eight Michigan. Now looking at a route. Here's a bump, a whistle. And before the shot on pool is woods went out as the sixty team foul the baseline inbound coming with six eighteen ago. Michigan has had a nine run over the last two minutes, a twelve to run over the last five minutes, and they've just broken this thing wide open. The inbound pass, and it goes to lessen Andrei Wesson, fouled and one that that inbound underneath the basket. And Andre Watson is playing with four personals chance at a three point play beautiful. I look at that. And I say, this is what you need you need without football an execution, and they caught livers turning his head for just the slightest moment Russian-Made a basket cut caught. It turns into a three four point. He hits the free foot only the sixth field goal made by Ohio State in the second half three point play. Makes it a fifteen point game fifty-six forty-one Michigan leading with six seventeen to go. Again, the two to one Prestwood. Let's see if they look to trap out of it this time, they really gonna do just to slow Michigan down and try and make us a short shot clock and could trap. They don't. They just bring it up Simpson. Very easily Simpson. The number two this man in the big ten eleven dimes tonight gives it up livers has it on top left side pass to Charles Matthews one dribble into the corner livers. Good. Meghan happened in the second half eighteen point lead over the buckeyes at that. Magic number. Arns will the drive down the left post lays it up an end for the freshman to quiet the crowd temporarily. "Like, oh, what's up with this players? Just have bad games. It's you know, I guess maybe this is true in in pro baseball. But it's like, you know, if Miguel Cabrera goes over four with four strikeouts. It's not like what's up with him. It's like he had a bad game. So it's not, you know, I understand. They played fewer games here. But. It's it's kind of whatever and beeline mentioned that you know, kinda like birthday Kaz last week teams, you know, Jordan pool, and is absolutely snuck up on teams. I wrote this article on Friday last week, they snuck up on Villanova. They snuck up on North Carolina's backup on Purdue leave. They combine averaged a combined. Forty four points in those three games or they both averaged at least fifteen points in those three games. And then now they're numbers are dipping, and the reason why is 'cause they're keeping a guy on Jordan pool. All the time he hits forty two percents of his threes. So he's not going to get open looks. And I think the reason I say false is because. He. Michigan has been telling him this week just because you can do your step back or your little shake and bake or whatever to get open doesn't mean that's the best shot. And I think that that's going to get through to him. Because I think you saw a little bit of it against Indiana. It wasn't like he was playing hero ball there. And and I think he's going to continue to distribute self. They really want to you know, put someone in his pocket all night. I think I think he's aware that someone else will be open, and they can score that way. So I'm gonna say false. I don't think they need him too. Obviously if they're facing zone this week in in in kind of in an offensive shootout type of game on Friday. The it would really help Michigan. If you got out of his shooting slump? But I I think part of the shooting slump is just people are committing to defending him in Michigan. Is you know, nineteen and one for reasons because they have different ways to win basketball games. They're not dependent on just him. So I'm gonna say false down will take the false in this one. Then really the kind of echo with Zach was saying is that it's not a one man show mean the starting five for Michigan has been, you know, a phenomenal group of guys have been able to share the wealth around. You know, we we saw, you know, Iggy break out of his slump in the last game down in Indiana. Task is stabbed his role up. Obviously kind of been you know, one of the key players on this on this team. Charles Matthews is starting to kind of come out of his slump as well. Too. Would it be nice to have Jordan come out of it? Absolutely. But it's not it's not indicative for him to kinda be out of that slump for this. Michigan team beats Ohio State or Iowa pleasant apple to if for some reason, it's not working out for them. Give got the bench of workout for you've got allied Brooks. You still have as Ahah livers they'll come off as well too. That could you know 'cause the three point threat as well. So it doesn't necessarily mean that Jordan has to you know, you have a, you know, a double digit point game two to have Michigan vault over these teams, but it would help a little bit. But it's not indicative so false. I'm gonna take the false. Also, I think there's because of what they got gotta saying too, many weapons two different guys that could take off. I don't think they they win these two games. Jordan pool goes over from the three point line, or is a you can't make a shot or is a liability defensively. But there's there's enough guys between Matthews and Bruce Jake is task. Simpson livers coming off the bench. And maybe one of these opportunities for Brooks to become more of a score. They could survive one guy, they probably couldn't survive two guys really really playing, you know, having tough tough time shooting the basketball. But I do think that they could go to this week even turn pool doesn't average you say fifteen points in his shooting forty percent from the floor or forty forty two percent from three point land. All right when we come back finish up. True false. We don't get to we will cycle into.

You know, what's interesting is yesterday when I stepped out to get the Bellas the very first thing you did was introduced at us. I know pretty common. It is pretty common, Jamie. Does it Sam desert Naidoo it, you know, the real the real mount Rushmore of the station. Right. Exactly. Exactly. All right ready for true false Tuesday's. We'll start with basketball. Perdue will win the big ten regular season title. The Boilermakers just one game behind Michigan. And Michigan state. They've got two losses in the big ten when you look at purdue's schedule down the stretch here. They don't play Michigan or Michigan state again. They have one match up with Maryland, they play at Nebraska, they play essentially that next tier of all the best teams. They don't play Wisconsin. The rest of the way either. And one thing to keep in mind is they have had the toughest big ten schedule to date to match matchups against Michigan state. One against Michigan. Believe they must have faced Wisconsin. If they don't face, Wisconsin. Again, they did they play them on the road beat them. January eleven eighty four eighty over time. Yup. Yeah. So. It's possible. And that's an interesting question because you know, it's like when you kind of think about it. It's like could they could I personally? I just I don't think that they're that. Good. I don't think that they're good enough to go seventeen and three sixteen and four and say. It's you know, if they do it, they do it. But. I'll get some of those road games, especially. You know, when they were six and five or eight and five or whatever. I think some teams might have taken them a little lightly or maybe hadn't fully scouted them or been like, oh, Matt harms is basically is a cost but skinny earn less good. You know? So so I think that they're I think they're going to be more heavily scouted. I also think that they don't they don't quite have the same. As Michigan and Michigan state because misgivings could say, you know. Yeah, they each have a loss. One to Purdue. But I it just you've seen that star power before Purdue now part of this is 'cause they're so inexperienced. But it the they had a lot of opportunities to go up against good good to you know, tournament caliber teams and missed and so far, you know, they beat Maryland at home. They beat Wisconsin on the road, which is better than Michigan did and they beat Michigan state. But have they have they really impressed in in these games or if they just kept winning. They were impressive against Michigan state from I mentioned, the three games they were impressed. But I mean, what else do I mean? What else do you want? How many times does either team any team look super impressive number in seven eight nine games. Michigan. Michigan state Heff is what that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying is like. I think I think Purdue is a team that's going to beat a lot of teams this year. You know, probably win twenty two games in the regular season. I don't know if that's still even mathematically possible for them. But that's the kind of team. I see them being. Whereas Michigan and Michigan state strike me as top five teams teams that win twenty five plus games again, if they don't do it. You know, it doesn't necessarily mean this. This was incorrect. It just means that they have the star power to really dominate teams. So you're gonna say false. Yeah. Ms true or false pretty will win the big time regular season title. I want to take the false on this one. I think. They'll end of finishing in the top four. But I don't think they can get over that hump. I mean, they Michigan and Michigan state of got a they've got to lose at least a couple hopscotch them. We'll mathematically there will be two losses between the teams. Yeah. Because they play each other twice. I'm with you though. Yeah. Essentially would add actually for for Michigan would have to come down. They'd have to lose, you know, one more actions missions got the tiebreaker against Purdue in the big ten regular season. There's no tiebreaker. If you if you're the same record, you just wait you just are share co champion of the big ten regular season title. That's ludicrous like co big ten champions in football. Right. Right. So my ludicrous. But I think. I do think it's going to come down there the Michigan and Michigan state. I think Purdue probably have we'll probably be that number three team out of the big ten. I mean, they do they do have a favorable schedule. I will say that Purdue does. Yeah. Gadgil there. Whether toughest game at Maryland in Maryland, hasn't really been a Wyoming team as of late. But you know, it's it's a different beasts going to college park. Yeah. They they're only two games where they're not favored to win with better than sixty percents at Indiana net. Maryland, maybe at Nebraska and Iowa. Okay. Yeah. And see I think I don't think it's feasible Indiana's in front upset for that. Does the in state rivalry things? Like that special. The fact that they got embarrassed by Purdue lost by fifteen a couple a week ago. So they could be that motivation. I think the hard part for Purdue is is I watched the last couple of their games and watch them that earlier games is you know, cars had words. I mean jacked up a lot of shots the other day. I mean that guy is like a that could build a brick house all by himself, and he's a really good player. But he just shoots on what did he go? The other day. He was four of nineteen of the day. I don't know if they have enough in one he missed fifteen shots, and they won correct. Because Klein was was really good. I don't think they have. Enough guys that I don't I don't think they can survive that many times with Carson words does that Matt Ryan Kline played really, Well, Matt harms, I think had a pretty good game gel eastern played pretty well. But honestly, like they're they're much more tied to the success of one player than say nothing. Michigan state with cash. Winston degree. Is. But Nick ward of Joshua for comes back. Matt mcquade they've got other options. Michigan clearly has a lot of options. I don't think Purdue has enough depth across its entire team here to be able to win this thing. I think those are gonna gonna drop a couple of games the times where they have three games in seven days will ultimately be their undoing which they do have February twelfth nineteenth got three and seven days. I think they have another one Saturday March second through March nineth they have three and seven days. In some of those teams twice where people have no a little bit more. So I'm gonna say take the false. All right true. Or false, Ohio State is a bigger threat this week then to Michigan. I'm actually going to say true. I Michigan is awful in Iowa City under line. I think they have one regulation win in like last ten tries. It might not even be that it might even be worse than that. But it's their offline Iowa City Iowa plays this weird brand of basketball that everyone seems to figure it out. It's kind of like, Illinois, although Illinois upset couple teams lately. But it's they just they just shoot they just run offense offense offense offense, and they don't do anything on defense. And I think if you're John Lennon de'andre Haines who kind of puts together the offensive game plan with with coach be line. You're probably looking you're a little bit. Like, oh, you know with our if our defense can make. You know, maybe five more stops than a typical team does in run the offense. That exactly how we want to run the offense. Missing come with a big win. So, you know, it's. I'm always going to be aware. The big ten road games are very tough. But I think we saw last week a Friday night supercharged atmosphere. In michigan. Now, I think Indiana, clearly, whatever their opening five minute game plan was was incorrect swinging the miss there. But I think I think seeing Michigan do that at India. Makes me confident that Michigan will be able to do that. Iowa Ohio State. I think is a tough match-up for Michigan. I think it's a especially on defense. I'm sorry. When Michigan's on offense. It's just you know, I broke it all down in a story earlier today. So it's a it's a tricky one. I think they could win both. But I'd say how states tougher than Iowa. Miss. I'm gonna take the I'll take the true on this one and Zach brought up the point. That is a it's a tough go at Iowa City. You know, it's a tough. It's a tough atmosphere in Iowa. I mean, it's it's almost could be almost reminiscent as mission going into Brask last season. You know, it's a tough go. But at the same time Ojo states coming in what they they've lost. What five last six or something like that? For the last five something like that higher state has lost five of the last six. Yeah. So they're they need a marquee win. And this could be one of those one of those games that they could cause that maybe Michigan could caught sleeping. I'm not saying that they will. But this could be one of those games were Ohio State could come in the Chrysler, and it could go they could cause the upset. Michigan did struggled their last home game against against Minnesota. Who came off of a tough a tough close win at Penn State the bottom of the barrel in the big ten. Ohio State could be one of those tough goes for Michigan as well tonight. And I think they could be the one that could cause some issues more than the game at Iowa's at at Iowa. What would would was mentioned earlier about the defense mean, I think that's really a thing when they play this running gun style at Iowa, they rank one hundred twenty six than adjusted defensive efficiency. When they're gonna play a Michigan team that is the best in the country at defense. And so I think that's the tipping point where Ohio State does have can give Michigan a little bit of a of a harder. Look tonight, nine o'clock start. Michigan coming off of a big win certainly that can play with their psyche a little bit. Yeah. I I think this is true. That Ohio State is a bigger threat than Iowa to Michigan true or false. Michigan. Can't go to an all this week unless Jordan pool breaks out of his shooting slump in his last two games. Jordan pool has made just let's see here. He's one of five and two of seven. So he is three of twelve in his last two games. Michigan cannot go to an ordinance next two games as Jordan pool breaks out of his shooting slump. False. I think this something we did not discuss beeline discussing this yesterday. But he was asked about really like the fifth press conference in a row. He's been asked about Jordan pools or somebody else's slump in that seems to be like a. The go-to. Well, in in in the reason, why is because people ask us on the message boards..

"Rush. Although I think it is an interesting one what does everyone needs to do in the second half because because Michigan's halfway through the big ten season saying to have the big ten season to maximize his potential this season. And so obviously, we're not going to say we're group in the freshman that are into one because to sit there and say, well, what does Adrian Nunez de to do probably what he's been doing. He's scored his first career points on Friday. But you know, Colin Casselton, not necessarily playing that much. But but we're going to run through them and take a look and see because this is what we talk about. When people ask what is the successful season? You know, you can have your own benchmarks. You can have certain things that that you feel but the truth of the matter is what actually is this is it successful season is do you meet your potential as a team? And the reason why we say that. And the reason why that's like be lines. Go to line is in twenty sixteen two thousand fifteen twenty sixteen. They lost charissa Vert for basically the entire big ten season twenty three wins and an NCAA tournament appearance is probably realistically the best you could could've asked for. And you know, so some years some years, you just aren't gonna do it. Sometimes there's obstacles that come in your way. This year, obviously, the potentials outline. So what? So let's look individually. And what does it take? To I guess I'll say meet their potential for the team to meet their potential, obviously, that's probably title final four school record in wins. Because they're going to be a good chance that they're at twenty. By the time February comes around. And there's a good chance. They walk out of February first with twenty one wins, which is crazy. But as far as individually, I think Michigan's had a lot of different players step up in really good ways. But I I do think every single player has more. They can do. Would you agree? Miss. Ms might be on the phone. So so let's start let's start with the middle. The guy the guy Brad Underwood called the most valuable player on Michigan's team Xavier's Simpson. Xavier Simpson having very nice season. As he as as we mentioned, he probably isn't in contention for big ten's most outstanding player player of the year. But as far as value, he's got really high value in the way, the things he can bring to this team that whether it'd be leadership the literal on-court production. He's got eight point eight four point eight point, eight points, four point nine rebounds, five point six assists, which is pretty high. I believe he leads all guards in in rebounding in the big ten everyone under six foot five. And then I am pretty sure he's second in the conference in assists. So he's he's doing just about everything you could ask for. Yes. He is second in the conference in assists. He's also fifth in the conference in steals. So what what is missing from his game? This one's probably a lot easier than the other ones. It's it's the shooting. So far this season. He's at twenty nine point three percent three point shooting. He's at fifty four point eight percent from the free throw line. Those are below average numbers. They really are. And for a guard who kinda slashes like he does. A free throw rate of eighteen percent. It's in the twelfth percentile overall. That's maybe a little lower. But again, this is potential not where can you get better as directly so as far as potential goes. I think it's important to understand expectations. How realistic is it that Xavier Simpson's going to be a thirty eight percent three point shooter. Probably not that realistically, you'll have games and things, but what is his ceiling because that's this is about meeting the ceiling, not playing perfect basketball. So I think his ceiling frankly, probably closer to thirty three thirty four percent. It's not good. But it is gonna prevent teams from keeping him leaving him that open as far as the free throw shooting. I think for him right now he's in the fifth percentile, which means ninety five percent of the country is better than him free throw shooting. He's probably got to be closer to the thirtieth. Percentile? You know, maybe maybe in that sixty sixty four range. Something of that nature. I think he I think he can absolutely be higher. Defensively. I don't think you can ask for anything more. I think he's already met. I think he's already met the the threshold defensively. I mean, well, he's able to do two opposing guards pretty special. Number two John task. Michigan center. Would you say MS that he was the biggest surprise John for Michigan this year? I would I would say so I mean, it's him or Iggy. I would think right. I would. Yeah. You probably put those as like a one a one b aspect of things. I mean, you've had you've got Iggy. Who's coming in as a freshman? You never really know what you can get out of a freshman. Even though you you you recruited him. Yeah. And you know, what you saw on tape. But not a lot of like the fan base knows exactly. What was going to bring to the table? Right. And then we'll Taskey. You know, we we saw little glimpses of them last season. But it was almost one of those like he's got some big shoes fill as far as being the big man on the court, especially after mo- left and mow was one of those guys that was not, you know, he was a big, man. But he was also kind of like like power forward as kind of thing as well too. So you never you. You saw some glimpses. And there was a lot of I don't know maybe a little bit of pessimism last season going into this. You're like man is he going to be that guy that come in and fill the shoes and he came in. And he's just kind of e. Most definitely surpassed those expectations. I think a lot of people have had. Yeah. And and and the thing is. Eighty probably was the bigger surprise in that no one expected to average sixteen points a game. Everyone expected Tuskegee to be solid. Everyone expected key to be to be a positive contributor. I don't think anyone expected him to lead the big ten in blocks two point three per game. You know, I don't think everyone I think a lot of people expected him to be kind of like eight and six kinda guy points and rebounds. He's not that far ahead of that. He's nine point eight points and six point six rebounds per game. If I'm not mistaken. Yeah. So yeah. Six point four so he's exceeded expectations. Offensively. I don't think he has his potential there. But defensively I mean, I really he's been next flawless. You know, it's it's he's got a block rate of that's the ranks among the best in the country. You know, he's got a he's got a turnover rate. He only only turns the ball over on six percent of his possessions. His block rate is in the ninety nine point nine th percentile if you look through drawn beeline history, Michigan he is not headed shot blocker like this. He blocks eight point six percent of the shots. That's a lie. I think about that means that you know, the shots that that he could he could block I should say. That's that's extremely high. And then you also have to factor in the misdirection or the the time someone goes up for shot ceased Heskey and his seven foot one frame there and asked to go somewhere else. Chris young talks about that all the time too. I think for him. He's gotta be pretty close to his potential. He's got to be someone that the you're sitting there saying realistically, right? Everyone can get better basketball's a game of imperfection. But but realistically. You know, especially as his offensive game his offensive usage. I would say I think Michigan's learning how to how to get him involved more. I really think you're getting he's one player you're getting to the point. Where like I don't know realistically how much better you could play this year. So so he's he's probably the closest I would say. Number three, Jordan pool. Jordan, pulls having a having a I mean really is going to be common theme, everyone everyone's going to have it. You know, everyone would classify as having a good year when nineteen and one and a top five team typically think the AP poll, MS maybe keep your eye on this. I think it's gonna it's gonna come out and about five minutes or so, yeah, I'm keeping an eye out for you. So join pool twelve point eight points, three point three rebounds, two point, two assists. And you know, the twelve point twelve point eight points is is good. I think we're Jordan pool ceiling is is what he does away from the ball because he is so quick and he has such a playmaker. And it's it's something if he's able to produce even when he isn't scoring that's really really really gonna shift Michigan ceiling. I think you know. And I think he had a really good mentor last year Mohammed Ali Abdul Rachman. And I think I think he definitely sees the path like he knows he doesn't he's just about scoring. But right now right now. Not a great turnover rate is actually below average in turnover rate. Not not a bad defender. But he isn't you don't sit there and say he's gonna lock them down. Like Charles Mathews aver Simpson. And the thing about defense. I don't think there's like shooting some people just aren't going to be good shooters. I don't know if you can have that same statement about a defender. I don't think you can say, oh, he is just not physically capable of playing is good at defense defensive someone else. So I think that's that's something for him. Offensively hit forty two of one hundred three pointers this year. That's exactly what they what they wanted from him. You know, it's he's he's on track to hit over sixty three's. He's sitting at a high rate they needed someone like that. Maybe they want 'em a little bit to show up a little bit more and some of these big games. But I I certainly don't think you can knock what he's done offensively. Great free throw shooter. He's a eighty percent around. So to me, I don't know about you, MS Jordan pool defense. That's that's the gap. Yeah. Maybe maybe passing. But but two point two assists is not bad. Certainly not bad at all not for a two guard. You know mean especially when when you're one guard in Xavier is almost climbing up there with per game as well too. Yeah. At some two factor in is. You know, if he's second in the big ten and assess I means that a lot of the action. Michigan runs is Xavier Simpson to someone else and then shooting so turnover rate is higher than the assist rate. That's probably the one offense of Mark. But Jordan pool I think he's someone else. Like, you know, if you're really looking realistically for for a one year change because I compare them to Nick staus gets a lot slats probably his ceiling is Nick style. Skiffs maybe with a little bit more of a of a. Explosiveness Asians explosiveness, Billy. You know, how quick he is. Maybe you maybe put him a little bit higher than staus gifts. So that's his that's his long-term ceiling. But for one year. I don't know. I don't know personally. I think he's he's relatively close. One guy who entering the season. If you saw what he is done. Would absolutely have hit his ceiling is Iggy per se. Cus? I really I mean he's been Michigan's best player this year. You know, the the Ken palm does these are MVP awards for each game for who the most valuable from an efficiency raw number. You know perspective who the most valuable player was. Yeah. Iggy has won it eight times while eight times in twenty games. And and that's for both teams. Like he has been the best player on the court eight times for almost half of the games. Yeah. Exactly. And the thing that I think is interesting a review who he was the team's. He was MVP against or some of them. Okay. Villanova providence, North Carolina. Northwestern on the road in Indiana on the road while so he's for a freshman. I don't know Trey Burke was up there. Absolutely. I think many harass people kind of forget about him. Nick, south is kind of had this. But for a freshman to be Michigan's Goto MVP player in some of their biggest wins of the year. That says a lot about who he is. Yeah. At at speaks volumes Lally said, I mean, the those ones that you just mentioned will you mentioned five I think right there but said to be considered like game MVP in forty percent of your basketball games of the season. As a freshman. Yeah. It's. It is mind blowing to hear that. But. Yeah..

"You what he's given us too much truth. He's got he talking about that dudes and all of that. I get no tattoo. I know that. Just thinking about it. And again, Jack sorry for your loss over the sorry about that. Jack. Thank you for the phone. Call call an letting me know sure the possibility day anything what are you doing? I'm just like promoting oh, he's trying to do a little he'll look at it. You'll see it on your on your Instagram. It's promoting after the show's over. Oh, okay. I just wanted to ask I didn't was making sure, you know. Maybe I would have wore Suda something you probably should be wearing a suit or tuxedo. Show. Now trying to relax man. So Michigan Wisconsin even hat as the only thing you gotta stop. But there's players around him that he makes better, of course. Right. That ingram. I believe his name is they've got a few MBA prospects on their team, not just half. They've got a few other good players on that team. So yeah, he's the one he's the straw drink. But they've got some other talented players. But yeah, Jayme. I mean, if you if you shut him down where he's not having a big game. He can still score twenty points. But if you're limiting him moving the ball things like that. If you shut him out. I think that there's no way that Michigan would lose this game. And I think coach is going to have a great plan with whether it's tests key that you throw at them because he can match up sidewise or livers. Or Brad is. I think in both match up with him in the post. So again, I'm feeling you know, I think I don't know if they're favored in this game. When I was looking at. I think it was Michigan was favored by three. Okay. Because when I saw something about like percentage chance to win. Some people were still saying Wisconsin was like Wisconsin fifty five percent. Unlike the predictors. Yes. Like that. So again or even fifty fifty where again, I'm feeling I'm feeling confident as long as we can do that. I don't see any way that Michigan doesn't come out with the win. If he is able to go off for twenty five thirty points and also getting those other guys involved, I think if he just scores twenty on his own we can handle them. No, we could if the other guy's going. That's where we fall into trouble. I we're going to see if Taskey can handle him by himself, or if you gotta bring somebody over to double to get the ball out of his hands. And then how fast we rotate to that ball? And they don't really double allowed either though. So they really is kind of going to be on task. But he's been masterful at really, you know, unless you start like you said getting guys involved once they start making those switches, and you know, that's when when seem seemed to be able to get their guard or small forward into the lane and everything like that. But otherwise like that, you know, I have full confidence that he'll be able to go out there and. Have a game. There is just a matter of. If you can shut him down enough. Well, you know, how much can you know, the rest of the field down. And I think that that's going to really matter about keeping Xavier who's been fine in this regard. But Charles Mathews keeping him out of foul. Trouble important thing. I think this is when you're in a way, I think when Michigan goes away, I think the leadership has come through. I think Charles Mathews has got to step it up just a little bit not that he's playing bad. But I I'm looking for him to have that signature game. That says I'm here. I'm ready to play outside of the Villanova game. He came to play in the Villanova game. He out he stood out amongst amongst the team. But I haven't seen him do that. Yeah. We're getting to that point in the season. Where usually one of those older guys starts to DO really stuff their game up. And granted we've already seen that out of Matthews over the course of the last year and a half. But you want to see him take that next that lay? Late. Like, I don't know if this is going to be his last season or not necessarily. But like you want to see him take that that same step that guys like Dunkin Robinson late last year Derrick Walton did in his the final like ten plus games. I think that's the kind of the kind of step forward you need to see from especially Charles Mathews, more than anybody. Sure. I think he's that guy. He's the go-to guy. We want him to be that go-to guy. Whether he's taken into the whole or he shooting at J and know, that's the that's what I'm looking for him to take that next step. And I when I look Xavier has made that step you can see his his his shooting has improved in his defense is tremendous. So that guy that don't know people are going to do what they did do it north western to that last game and leaving them wide open for that anymore. I don't see Xavier getting that open anymore as they did. They sagged off for him trying to double and everything. That you know, maybe that helps Jordan pool did his game going, although Jordan, it seems like he lost back sometimes and let everybody else get their game going sometimes he passes when you go issue taking that shot. But I'm okay with it. I go do your thing. Young man because he does find a way to shoot the ball on the nice thing about playing on a team with so many talented pieces again and also guys that enjoy playing with each other so much Jordan pool doesn't doesn't care. He didn't look upset the northwestern game wasn't getting a ton of shots. He realized it wasn't his game. And that strategy that worked for northwestern. First time around backing up Xavier we made them pay for it this time. So again, you're giving two of our guys wide open shots. Okay. We're going to keep shooting them as long as they keep hitting them then and we did and again during pooled in look one bit upset just like Iggy who was the leading scorer for a long time. When he had a few down games where he was only scoring four six seven points. Game. He wasn't upset about it. No, especially when you have a have a player like, John, Rasheed? Wallace Tuskegee out there. I did. Hey, call received. I is the most received Hawaii. Boy, that's what I said what has started happening when they started leaving them open. And he's in John task. He's like. All right. I'll take it. I mean, it was a little different because we're she would be like, it'd be like, Rasheed. Don't don't don't you know with John? It was like all right. You're wide open. Exactly. But he hit three in a row. Yeah. I'm looking for the fourth would go get it. The just one of those things where it's you know, didn't see that coming. But that's what makes Michigan. So great right now is is they have so many different components. They can can beat you. And that's what makes it fun. When you read out if you if either of you follow Anthony writes, the former Michigan basketball player on Twitter, but he likes to get into big arguments with other fan bases. Namely, Michigan state also right now a little bit Tennessee fall, Twitter and. Ed like athlete points out because a lot of Michigan state fans. Don't wanna believe that Xavier Simpson could play defense even though they've seen it firsthand. However, what do you mean they said Xavier can't play diva? Oh, we'd like to see Michigan try to guard caches Winston and Anthony just points out real real quick. Like you mean like Xavier is done. Multiple times. Yeah. Exactly just once but again multiple times. But hey, give the I mean caches is playing much better this year. He's not just the set three point shooter. Like he was last year. Again, still the knock on him is still his athletic ability. He doesn't while you with his speeders Vert anything like that which Xavier that's where he tends to own them because he's bigger faster stronger. But that's the point to that. There's you're just as Anthony constantly makes like this team can meet you in multiple ways, and it starts with defense. And that's where it gets to be impressive is sometimes you have games. Like some of the last few where the defense isn't as good as it may be has been all season long. They might see some higher point totals. Sure. Right. And some of these games like the Indiana game. I believe is you know, where they let the hoosiers score more than they've than any team at scored all year, but they get it done on. The offensive end to make it work. No, they do and look not everyone. And like you said you don't have to depend on one or two players to score the points. Five of them all five of them can score seven of them can score if they want if you want if you looked at deep they can make it happen. And they've shown that they can make it happen. So look from what I see it's great to see, you know, you've got guys that average more than eleven points a game of that five. Yep. Some average more, but I'm just saying they average over eleven double double figures. So it's kinda input seven three four nine hundred eighteen fifty let's go to John in Ann Arbor, brain, John. Hi, jamie. Hi, matt. I I think we will beat Wisconsin. I don't think it's going to be easy because I want your great close calls, and they're probably going to go to badgers way. And it may come down to that. It's the spread is is is only three points. I also had a football question. If you don't mind sure, go ahead. The new gain line coach coach newel is it I understand he has west coastal creating ties is that is that. So. Yes. That is so. Well, maybe gyms recruiting strategy. Is to go to the west coast and to east coast to make up for guy. He may not get an Ohio with Washington and Madison both there now, and I'll hang up and listen. I mean one thing about Michigan. Michigan loves the west coast. They do recruited heavily, and they they've gotten some players out of there. Well, there's a couple of guys in in. I'm sure that Newell play a part in this. I know they already got a couple of guys already on it. But I mean, there's a couple of guys in Arizona ready. I mean, they want Nardi got JD Johnson quarterback from you know, twenty twenty quarterback. There's a couple of guys out of leaves called south point Catholic. If memory serves Leith and ransom and bijon Robinson to four stars out of there. The Robinson being a running back. He's a high four-star one of the top running backs in the country for twenty twenty. So yeah, I think you're gonna see see a little bit more of that picked up in general. But I don't think it necessarily has to do strictly with just the, you know, the Ohio of it all I said this I believe last week where I don't think that they are necessarily like, oh, I understand it's important to concentrate on. Ohio. But sometimes Michigan the Michigan will go after the guys that they want. They always say went after Zach Harrison, but there has to be at least a somewhat of a concession that. You're not gonna get all the guys you want unavo- because Ohio State is especially now putting an emphasis on it in Michigan has going more national as far as recruiting. I mean, they only pulled in a couple from the state of Michigan this year. And I think that's fine as long as you're bringing in really high caliber guys, and I think they're just gonna continue to scout the country and try to bring in the best it's recruiting changed. It's not regional anymore. Even though Ohio State seems to be going back to the regional philosophy Michigan's going to maintain that national one and see how plays out there. I was just gonna say I think if Michigan can start to win some of those Ohio guys will naturally come start coming across the border. But do you think looking at those lines with GATT is being, you know, having some ties down south just being down at Alabama and recruiting down there. Do you think that these coaching hires if we do better here the next few upcoming years? Do you think this could set us up really well to recruit nationally, if we have guys that have connections all over the country? Oh, absolutely. I think that that's one of the great things about Gaddis is that he spent a year at Alabama. And he's you know, that he's you know, knows exactly how Alabama does it in Alabama has been the the best no matter how you want to talk about the way that they recruit they're still been the best in the last what seven eight ten years, so and that isn't strictly based off of. You know that unspoken about since you, you know, what have you? But he knows how to go out there and. And and go and get those types of guys he knows what to say knows what to do. He knows how to evaluate and all that kind of stuff. So it's already I think starting to pay dividends when you look at five stars top receiver in the country's out of Pennsylvania. Which also got us was in Penn State as well. Jillian fleming. You look at a guy like that. Who said like, hey, this is a program changer. According to believe, it was twenty four seven the had that might have been rivals. I don't remember. But. So you've got guys out there that you now maybe weren't as approachable that are now more approachable because they see hey, that guy just left Alabama and went to Michigan and. You know, it's one thing when it's Douglas Meyer, right? Who wasn't really recruiter? It's a different thing. When you get a guy that was like offensive recruiting coordinator at his last few stops. So that's gonna probably play pay pretty huge dividends for Michigan in having a guy that is had his, you know, he's been waiting in the muck when it comes to that. No. I think well his main areas Maryland Virginia he's been in that area and pull some big big time names out of that area and brought them to Alabama. Yeah. And he's and even before that at Penn State. Yeah. That's what I was gonna say in the Penn State when he he brought players for Penn State. So yes, he is a great recruiter. Any does have a certain area that it's favorable for Michigan. It just brings Michigan new area..
