"That you know they're going to have things that are record it. They're not going to be on the playback. Yeah, they do that today. You know I've been Mike Probably. Saying some things they're like okay. We're not going to air that, but the things on the court the wall most. There's nothing wrong with that I. Mean Come on, give me something I need something. I can't just sit here and watch a game with no fans. I'm going to be interested in. You know guys. Like that no more guys won't be on the court like make dinner plans a male coach. O'hare man, you know. Who? WHO's your? Who's your fashion designer? That's the type of conversations we go here. We're not going to be hearing none of that stuff. This is trash. This is trash. Talking errors over. Oh, please you. Still WanNa, hear it. You're right. You're right. Paul anything on the court I feel like is fair game obviously done responsibly I'm here for all access, but to me it all depends on player consent. You know especially off the court team consent. Even the NBA cosign now for example I just thought of the last dance it took. Michael Jordan Mj twenty years for him to be comfortable with US seeing and experiencing all aspects of his life, and he's retired now, so it's not like he. He has to deal with those like media scrums, waiting for daily, watching your every decision and every move, so I think having players all in one place it's going to be an unparalleled experience, but I also think we have to remember that we are in unprecedented times where support systems that you normally have every day or every practice or even every game. They're not going to be there in the same way. Athletes are humans to very fortunate human. Human Beings, but we're still human so as long as you protect them off the court on the court. Yeah, fair game. I mean yeah like think about the show right what we say, the conversations we have. We all know we're on television. I think when these guys step onto the court or the bench. They know they're on television and that switch could be made to mentally be like all right anything I. Say in this room on this building. Building just like when you guys put that microphone on anything we say, even during a commercial break sometimes gets out to the world, and they'll just know that and you're right. The Players Association has to buy in but Paul. Can you imagine if you're Celtics teams? Just Mike was on for a lot of those periods, and I don't even just mean cagey, and all the words out of his mouth. You know you in some talkers on that? Parental guidance would have been needed. To categorize it. Was a thriller comedy, or I will probably put an thriller talent category, so the and. The NBC. Slash horror. True, remember, rating. Down, right this season that there is more going on and this postseason. The NBA may very well be competing with Major League Baseball with the US Open College Football Football. There's going to be more stuff hopefully. Cross our fingers as a country can get all this going again then. They've ever had to compete with during the playoffs. A little bit more the everything, but I would like to hear a little bit more about what these guys are saying coming up. We got a very fun guest joining the three of us inside the NBA Kennedy Smith joins the show. He's going to talk to us about his basketball, Academy the Orlando Bubble, and how much faith he has this year's rockets first. Though here's our distant replay is from.

"The expletives. Wear! Year between the benches. What they ever UC down there? been crashed. That's the other thing they should be able to fight. Oh! Yeah, you can catch one of those bellows moments live. I think it would be outstanding. It's just a thought. The NBA. It might make me watch the NBA. I was wondering, too. How big of a spillover wooded of Ben for if they were to have played the last, Walt in the NBA was going on right now. How much of a boon would that have been to the NBA ratings? The last dance me? Is What I say! The last. Dance, I don't know. About the band. School? War. It'd be highlights with the band as the soundtrack. That would be cool. Yeah, all right well. I'm all for that, but I think the NBA would've had a huge boon from the Jordan. Documentary is what I was GONNA say. I don't know if once they get going fell experience the same thing, but language to be an issue. Was, that? Lebron and the Lakers were poised to to go on a run I. mean they were dominating the league this year and him and Eddie whereabout to take it, and potentially you know win another championship, which only would've added fuel to the fire because Jordan, green lit that whole documentary. In Two thousand and sixteen when he beat the the Golden State Warriors because he thought people were forgetting about him. Because all the greatness talk with Lebron was at its height, because he came back from down three one to beat that warriors team. Was Steph curry and all those superstars right? Thousand was the one where he He had the block game seven. Oh Yeah. I wonder if that to Jordan is speaking to in the camera. You can tell like he's angry and he's always kind of arguing. In, so he's arguing those voices not so much about the past, but the president when you watch the last dance that he's arguing with the people saying Kobe or Lebron are better. Course! He, CRAP! Wreck, slur, because somebody said Clyde was good at basketball. Can you imagine. Saying Lebron Kobe are better than him he's. He's probably steamed about it. Ten hours of every day that he's alive. Robert Parish Story. Robert. Parish played for the Bulls in his last year apparently. This? Didn't remember that either. So chief is playing with Michael Jordan Mj gives them some flack and starts like yelling at them, and saying like you think you're going to come in here. Pull that bleep. Pablo Blah, you know. Get on board, not everything. And Robert? Parish is like you know. I played with magic I played with. He's like. Bird! He would never speak to you like that. He encouraged you. Get on your case. You tell you get your head out of your ours and stuff like that, but he was mostly like you know. Lead by example in support of talk, he's like. I I ain't GonNa be treated like that. And he basically said Jordan stepped up to him in Paris like how beat your ass in shorten like step back and then never challenged them ever again. Robert Kerr also terrible human being. That's the other thing that stinks half the time with a lot of these were like and then Carl Loan. Remember he hit that awesome series, and then you're like yeah. Did you also know Carl? Malone is one of the worst people to walk the Earth Yeah I know, but we talk about the sports thing because impregnating thirteen year old, and not paying child support for any of his five cans, even though he has fifty million dollars. It's of horrible to bring up. anyways in the mailman great. If? There wasn't crowds back then. You would've heard players from the other team. Probably talking to him about that chirping him about that, that's why. There is nothing is out of bounds for trash talking in professional sports. That's I'm honestly I. THEY'RE GONNA. Find a way so that you can't hear everything that the players are saying because of what Mike said. Be appalled shocked and surprised that people could string together words that they would string together. One of the things I've noticed. The watching. They'll take less than me. Guys watching a little German soccer on the weekends. and. You hear it's an empty stadium, but it's this massive stadium and you hear a lot of yelling, but it just kind of echoes around. It's very hard to pick up the way they have. The mics position maybe tactical on their part. It's very hard to pick up the specifics. You hear a lot of ambient noise. But you don't hear Fritz, you're no good you know at. Least I'm not. I'm, not getting details, yet. Here. They probably. Fritz. Up Yours. All right well. It remains to be seen if we'll even get another sport going here anytime soon, but if we do, it'll be fun to contemplate what we might be hearing from the players with no fans in attendance, our vows got your news coming up next Valerie. "B. S. sports radio yeah mine is not playing tricks on you thank you to everybody that soon then for the first hour if you missed it we were talking about miss Dantonio brown does he deserve another shot in the NFL we had a call in my main man local call then from Brazil didn't expect that much love international love appreciate that ant's one but their NFL free agent he just called in and he educated everybody how his free agent journey is going this man is gonna be fifteen years in the NFL plane safety it's a whole lot of different quarterback changes kudos to him and I told you what we're going to talk about right now it's crazy I saw this post online you can follow me on Twitter at J. R. sport brief Instagram at J. R. sport brief I'm on Twitter and IG all day long in early this afternoon I happen to see it sweet and it was one of those weird tweets that made me go wow this guy has no idea what he's talking about and he was actually comparing Jerry rice he was comparing Randy moss and he said these are the same people who say Michael Jordan is better than lebron he's talking about people saying Jerry rice is better than Randy stood out to me that someone would make it sound like lebron is so much better than Michael Jordan I have to chime in and I said just I responded to him I said listen Michael Jordan what clock cook forty feet taken to the woodshed Michael Jordan would have a field day I'm not gonna say he's gonna you know just straight you know pull amount a hundred the nothing but Michael Jordan on a one on one with lebron James is winning and I said I'm going to take this conversation to the airwaves right here on CBS sports radio and that's exactly what we're going to talk about okay it's real simple if you got an opinion I'm gonna need to know exactly what it is eight five five two one two for CBS and I'm gonna lay the groundwork because some people are going to call in they gonna tell me about championship brings in and teammates not no it's not we're talking about we're talking about mono E. mono if we stuck them on the court one on one and set in their primes let's going get it who is coming out on top that's the conversation that we're gonna have right here on CBS sports radio with the J. R. sport pre show before we move along we we actually see people all the lines are ready I see you a day about the bully we're going to get to you day there's there's no doubt about that but let me lay the ground work right here we know that lebron James is a freak of nature six foot nine it doesn't matter how much you say ways to fifty to sixty it doesn't matter okay Michael Jordan at what was the lebron James with the size no he was Michael Jordan was he was a you know there's a reason that the coal Michael Jordan the black cat Michael Jordan was able to move Michael Jordan was an intense defender you know what this is something I like to say about a lot of plays that out today we don't have a lot of killers then in in time may have been killed as if you want to talk about recent memory you had Michael Jordan MJ was a killer okay you gave him the ball he was out there to rip your heart out of your chest Kobe Bryant the late great Kobe Bryant was a killer Shaquille o'neal was a killer you did not want to get that guy Matt and so a lot of people who may not remember watching Shaq play he wasn't just some big angry guy Shaquille o'neal was one of the most skilled big men ever he just so happens to be gigantic and strong and that was a dangerous combination the been plenty of players who are big but not many have been skilled much Q. o'neill Michael Jordan was skilled superbly skilled the Bron James possesses immense skills if someone wants to make an argument to me that lebron James physically and for what he's done in his career is the best overall a rounded out player ever I can't I can't necessarily or disagree I can make an argument for that but when I talk about what lebron James brings to a one on one basketball game and isolation against someone like a potential Michael Jordan I'm going what M. J. M. J. is straight isolation what he needs to use his athleticism to go to the basket whether or not he wants to utilize his post game which is set up by his foot work whether we want to talk about that fade away Michael Jordan was on it in even know lebron James is physically bigger than Michael Jordan Michael Jordan was an amazing defender you look at a lebron James right now utilizing a deep ball three pulling up from deep rocking the ball pulling up and shooting when you look at a lebron James now utilizing his size going down into the pope's one leg it step back fadeaway okay lebron James has increased to shooting percentages as he's been in the NBA the mark of a great play of the mark of someone who's putting in work on their craft Michael Jordan did the same thing mid range game killer getting to the basket killer foot work killer defense killer the only way that lebron would be able to get a shot off is if he was even comfortable enough to put one in the basket do I think he can get a shots off against Michael Jordan absolutely especially in the post do I think that he would be comfortable take those shots no those deep long range threes put him out the window Michael Jordan would be all over in up and underneath lebron James there is no deep brain stories there is no I'm going to step back and take a three no that's that's not what we're doing this isn't this isn't a five one five when lebron is playing the Memphis Grizzlies this is a one on one with Michael Jordan my M. J. is gonna be up under him and is another thing Michael Jordan actually knew how to play defense a lot of people get confused watching the NBA right now today the NBA is an arcade game it goes back and forth the game has been set up to actually promote offense not defense why because people don't have the attention spans that they did Michael Jordan play defense and I'm not going to say he was out there battling dies but he understood angles he understood pressure he understood making someone uncomfortable he understood hand movement I got a goal Michael Jordan in a one on one with lebron so anybody like the gentleman that happen to be on my Twitter earlier today at J. R. sport brief who just said yeah let's join is battling a bomb **** A. O. I mean no it's not a joke M. J. Michael Jordan was the truth Michael Jordan was probably you could venture to say that the best isolation player ever in lebron James good luck that's what I would say that's what I would say Michael Jordan lebron if we put these guys on a one on one this is the good part about having these conversations right now I don't know how many times I could so you have had to hear this first it was Michael Jordan and Kobe you know what I'm I'm still gonna go with with Michael Jordan and then it moved on into okay well now you got Colby and and and lebron which unfortunately we still never saw we unfortunately did not see in the play offs of the finals.

"Hey Michael let's shift gears here For the end of the podcast by just cleaning up some more emails that we got into the open floor mailbox and I think people were excited about a few different conversations. We had but particularly this idea of the hall of legends. And you'll remember we were talking about. Who gets a statue or you know? Can we have a more selective hall of fame? So that really only honors like the true. The true greats and nate pointed out. Michael That your top twenty four players that you had in your hall of legends. We're almost identical to his own personal list and he had gone through this formula and everything else he sent it over is pretty phenomenal. But he asked a major question. Where was Doctor Jay? How do you feel about Aba Legends? And what's their place in basketball history and we also got an email from Don Day in Philippines who said Dr Jay's cases pretty simple man four MVP's from the Aba Combined Sixteen All Star Games to all star Game MVP's a title nine time all MBA or all ABA. First Team Selection. Any ads doctor. Jay was the basketball superstar of the seventies transcend the Harwood was an icon on and off the court. Countless stories of basketball superstars looking up to him when they were growing up so this was a pretty big omission by both of us wasn't it. Yeah so I I swear to God that I had Dr J. At my own mentions when I wrote down my list. He did not make it though. I believe you because why would you lie? Exactly why would I live and I will say that I did not put him on the top twenty four and then make it a top twenty five for a couple of reasons. Maybe I'm wrong about them but I for one I just think that the the Aba kind of complicates things a bit now. He wasn't there for the bulk of his career or anything like that. But he did spend the early parts of his prime there. And that's where he had his most success so it's really difficult to kind of Parse the ABA competition. And now. I know that it was top notch and a lot of ways but you know the depth was an issue there and and so forth but the other thing is just like you know as my rule was that you know. I needed guys who were top three players for three more years and I. I didn't think that Dr J. was clearly that like to be to make the list you had to be just obviously your top three player and there couldn't really be any second guessing or else it would defeat the purpose of the exercise. And so that's why I did not have him on now. Maybe an incorrect there and it is obvious. I was not alive at the time so I could not go from. The recesses of my memory is basically just looking at statistical history books So that's just where I was coming from. Where when I tried to figure things out but I will say real quick like you know just from reading about NBA history and basketball history. Like Dr J. was one of the most influential players of his era and he was kind of like the bridge to Michael Jordan. Mj BEFORE MJ. So he he you know he is a legend in his own right but I just wasn't sure if he passed necessarily with my criteria. No I I hear you well. We got another question on the same subject from Noam and he writes I love the hall of Legends and Statue Garden Idea but You guys left dirk off. I think he should get a statue because you have to consider statue of. He had the perfect statue pose. Could you guys rate your top five? Mba statues not necessarily existing ones already and then closes. I know this is right in your wheelhouse. Been well know him. You know me so well. I bring this question up right now though is doesn't Dr J. Have a very very high statue. Ability ranking Michael Swooping Layup underneath the hoop where he's got like his arm extended and he's holding the basketball like it's a grapefruit and that's a statue right there right. I mean that's iconic everybody would recognize it and I feel like we should just commission that today. That's a great one him. Taking off from the free throw line would be amazing Yeah that's that's great and I tried to take off the Mike Hall of Legends List. But he was there for the for the end but under the boats. Thanks sucker enough to suck it up to know of. I see how it is. Well other guys you think how high statue ability. He's got a point. I mean the dirk fade away. That's why they put the Silhouette on the court down there in Dallas. Right remember that they had that little icon logo on the Court of course season to pay respect to that look but You know which other guys you can make that list. I mean Lebron's block is a statue that needs to happen. That should just be like City Hall in Cleveland. Like I don't even know I don't even know if we can claim this one in In Our statue garden we might have to give that to Ohio. Yeah that should be like Rocky Balboa except a actual human being or or. Maybe likely. The governor's mansion or something like that. You know like we have to wrap this one up. Yeah that's a great idea. I I love Jordan statue outside the United Center. I think it's incredible. I'm sure that it's like your favorite thing that has ever been constructed in human history. I I also think that maybe he deserves another one where it's like the you know that. Great Final Shot Against the Utah Jazz. Like I feel like that shot deserves. It's just him holding his follow through. Or Yeah maybe him brushing Brian Russell off like he's just a speck of dust on his shoulder. You know I think that the statue for Jordan though at the hall of statues should not be the iconic photo from the dunk contest. Where he's got the ball. I kind of tucked back by his ear. And he's he's going into the Spread Eagle with his legs. He's kind of like double pumping that photo from like underneath the hoop the iconic Walter IOS photo. I think that's the one that needs to be the statue there. Do you have any other major nominations? I love the block idea. What else what about like Kareem with the Skyhook? Is that too boring or what about Wilt Chamberlain ready with the with the one hundred with the one hundred sign? Maybe yeah those are good I think the big one for me is Kevin Garnett in a primal scream just looking at the sky screaming. Anything is possible is that do you think that's a good statue idea? Ben? It's not bad I mean we could have Y- honest actually inside hardens head would be a good statue. How about that a kid? I kid let me see here. We got a couple of other questions that came and actually I love this. This was from a ton in Israel and he had a real beef with the story. You told on the last episode. Michael you need to clarify this all right. Each on rights. Michael told a story about how his sister laws boyfriend was watching the NBA with him and he didn't know anything about the game. He was watching. Pelicans versus Lakers. And His eyes were glued on Zion. My question is why would his eyes glued on the Braun after all? Lebron is one of the greatest players ever and he was going off for forty points in that same game. It doesn't make any sense. Yes style had some great dunks but so did Lebron. Please explain this Michael. So how do you explain your novice? Family members Stubbing Lebron in favor of his ion during that much anticipated showdown in L. A. A week ago which was actually had round to In New Orleans on Sunday again very entertaining both guys got their numbers. They did hug on the core by the way. Michael so maybe they heard us. You know whispering in shattering here on the PODCAST and decided to play. Nice for the cameras. But please can you straighten this all out? No I mean maybe I did MIS characterize it a tad but I gave a blanket statement at the start of the game that was like. Hey this is this a great game because Zion is Zion and I helped him up and said hey this is Lebron. He's the best player in thirty years. Yada Yada Yada but I just I I. The emailer has spun on in my brain is what I was thinking which is like I'm not. I mean I'm always excited to watch. Lebron play basketball but he was not the big Hook of why. This game mattered so much more than it was on facing off against Lebron for the first time. And it's like it's like what thirteenth game of his career or something like that and every time you see him you see something that you've never seen the human being do before. So that's really what I was selling him on more so than Lebron. Because I personally I mean relatively speaking to Zion like I've seen Lebron do it all like he wasn't going to wow me. I mean he did Kinda well-made in that game but he wasn't going to allow me to the level of something that's ion could do knowing that I've seen Lebron. Do you know ridiculous things over and over and over again for basically the bulk of my adulthood. Well isn't part of this though. That can do things that even Lebron can't do I mean obviously he can't do everything that Lebron can-do but with some of these dunks and the force the power. I think he still does pop off the screen even when he's going against players like Lebron or even in his matchup against Jaanus. Yeah and it's also like the things that O'Brien does I think a lot of them are easy to to spot. Anyone can see when he does something really good during a game but a lot of it is like you know he's coming off a pick and roll and he throws this no look with the flick of his wrist to the weak side corner. And it's like I don't have. I can't really explain why that was incredible to someone who has no idea what basketball is whereas with Zion. It's like oh. He jumped look how fast he jumped twice in a row. Like you can understand that right. It's just easier to kind of sell someone on the game honestly with John. Do you really have a family member? Who has no idea who Lebron is and you had to give him a little speech about what Lebron Means Basketball before this game? That's incredible yeah. He's technically not in the family yet but he had no he. Can we vote him out or where we hear? Michael was yeah. He had no clue whatsoever. I mean explaining to him as I said in the last episode like the Raptors Bucks Game was right before that and I'm like I'm getting caught up with like Like Kyle lowry and Pascal..

No it's not that easy bands of orange juice or the football player. I would stay away from that one football fans. OJ Date just for fantasy football is very very easy to come up with what seems a little easy target demographic and its fans of Mary J. Blige and then had to come up with a great name Mayor J and now you guys a I just thought of another one but it's very inappropriate yeah don't do that. I I wonder what it is. What is in there all right Adam. Well thank you for calling confirm. Oh yeah yeah so the second one so since obviously monetary vic people people. Chris said something on the air. Your million dollar idea should be a better cell phone. We're going to have to let you go. You guys sorry so long. Bad Cellphone Grew Dad. I'm sorry I wasn't listening jerks. Let's do do for the final segment of the of a very informative show yeah well. We've done three segments right. That was our third. Let's try to do a fourth segment and it's it's just you know five minutes of rollercoaster tycoon talk and we're back wow here we go five minutes. You'll rested rollercoaster tycoon talk now billy yes that's me he played the version which the only version really available right yeah. I've looked to see if there's like actual video game versions of non. PC and I haven't found any we talked about this yesterday today. I wasn't honestly quite sure which game you're talking about and then it. Kinda just hit me. Yesterday I saw tweet about it with a picture and I was like Oh my God I do remember that game so I feel look. I can help more with this conversation. Great the more the Merrier I made the sickest rollercoasters and would go underground and I would get the shovel all I know in make things high and I would make things low but also I was an evil evil bastard so when my park was full then I'd start doing construction and I would lift like certain parts of the ground round like just like one person who would be stuck like walking in a like a three by five square for the rest Sivy Tornado words and then sometimes I would start construction on a roller coaster or I would open a roller coaster. That didn't have a loop clothes and people wouldn't meet. They're fiery doom. Don't act like you didn't do it billy. Everybody's done it. Put It on the poll. Have you killed innocent. People playing rollercoaster tycoon billy looked me my eye and tell me that you didn't murder people for fun in that game no well look. You're looking at me and the I I mean what's the difference in grand theft auto. I was you know I was a terrible person does feel it does feel different because rollercoaster tycoon supposed to be innocent. These people have entrusted me people auto or innocent to when you're just like cruising the streets not doing all that time. Let me see what I can on top of a high building and just like picking people off. Oh Oh my God don't roller coaster tycoon. We're GONNA talk to you. GTE another day but Roy Roller coaster tycoon Sim city routes uh-huh Your Sim City Guy in just downloaded the Sims on xbox one yeah just yesterday yeah no not because Ed won't give US Credit No. I actually did that a couple of months back because I had not played the Sims beforehand. WanNa try it out ever yeah ever wait. You just started playing the sims now like in two thousand and nineteen yeah it was it was the new version of the Sims the Sims four whatever I couldn't get into the Assim. I thought I'd like living someone else's life but I realized mine was better so I just didn't want to know like real life was better and I was just like checking on a giga pet. Essentially I'm like why don't you found the man I like. Those in. That game takes a lot of dedication. Your lifetime essentially have to live someone else's life in real time and it's just just like Oh God. Can I just kill innocent people with my roller coasters already my death traps so I made one entire park that was just designed to be a death factory factory like you were talking about like the yeah but this trumpet death this takes like the Lemme change the speed on rides to a different level when and you just made a part to injure innocent people. Everybody's done it yeah. I don't know that everybody's dead billy that billy you dedicate a park into the no but you dedicate a ride. You didn't want to see what would happen if the problem was that when you did that then you're park ratings would go down and it will affect attendance and stuff so it's not like a long term success plan yeah but you could always create a new user profile so I had one user profile that was just built up to have enough money to make a park of do I would have a roller coaster that was at the edge of a pond and people would just be catapulted into the sea. Yeah what we're talking about the drop of fear I would have a drop that would shoot them up at a high rate of speed. I would go up so high the sweet spot if off the thing there was a sweet spot though that it could fly off a land back at play which was that was needed to get the exact speed right yeah but I wanted to push it to the limit yeah and so you you know they would shoot up in outer space and then I would just start taking away as like transient man. What a fiery death. Jeez it was great poor. Little digital people were just going to have fun with digital family. I'M GONNA make a request from corporate and then we just have like one. Pc from Nineteen nineteen ninety nine and we just put in rollercoaster tycoon deluxe and anytime someone wants to just go and loved to see that email. I think it's could do a lot for the Camaraderie in the studio thought of a potential grid of death punishment yesterday asking for I finally put together fifty all right. What did you think the Bristol Yeah. You didn't think of that. I thought of thought of it based off something I was doing doing. It was a team effort. Someone go to Bristle now you just because in Bristol we found out Alison was recently in Bristol. She said that she said that sitting. Sitting is the new smoking as the thought process so a lot of people spend most of the day standing standing desks. They don't sit you have to stand so then we yeah we came up with the punishment burst or you just have to stand yeah billions of it. Actually I think that's cool. I was standing yesterday. A lot hopes that Dan would come to me and say why are you standing and I was GonNa say sitting is the any smoking yeah so. He stood the entire show yesterday for no reason kind of have something like that but it's called the Oscar. The grouch and you have to live in a garbage. You have to say garbage Kale. Oh the entire show so it's Kinda like the bristle only dumpy yeah okay..

"So that it's a viable that we have that we're in. Of course, it's being constantly put in an atmosphere or culture or an environment where you're just you just have to survive. So you're doing things you otherwise wouldn't do if you were putting a better situation. Right. And then what happened in in the thing is the culture, you know? It's so funny because when we were talking about the brands in buying non black products yet. I mean, what other cultures more appropriate it in the black culture. I mean, think about hip hop thinking about, you know, Jordan's. I mean, all I mean, again, I grew up in Connecticut, right? I grew up in a very white dominated area of the country. And when I was growing up, we all listener up. We all want to Jordan's. We all wore, you know, Michael, Jordan MJ. You know, we're all bulls fans, I wasn't. But like half the players will bowl fan. I mean, the the culture the black culture was so big in the nineties growing up and you'll his saw Manashe talks about that in in his patriots. When he did this whole thing on the supreme brands brands supreme. I mean, the amount of money that this stuff gets sold for bad the other day, I want so bad. But I can't I don't it. It was a gorgeous the red bag with the with the Foxtail, and I need that bag in my life. But the problem is that people wanna take on black culture. But then they don't wanna help it. Yeah. Right. And they want the cool part of it, they deem it to be cool there because it's like real struggle behind it. There's real shit going on there. Yeah. Cool. It's it's. It's like the Kardashians wearing braids. And it's like all of a sudden, it's like they created braids or they are acceptable and braids. And then you have a little black girls was trying to go to school and they get expelled for wherein braids. It's like when it when you can put on what we a lot of the swag. And the things in the identity that we have created here as black people in this country has come from either. Necessity has come from trying to find a sense of identity because we are listen we were brought in with no records. Right. Many of us. Don't know where we come from. We the lineage we can only guess, I guess you go to twenty three and me or whatever we don't know. Like, you know Africa is not a county in Delaware Africa is a continent, and it is humongous and then trying to figure out where we all fucking came from. Some is like, you know, it's the craziest thing the the amount of errors that have been done. So when I hear when I hear white men say they are losing his country. And you know, what part of it is like. I don't even poop poet, right? I go this is where we should be. We should be at a point where white men feel like their backs are against the wall because we created that environment. Right. Whatever this, right. That white men think they don't have. It was never there to begin with. It was only there as a policing to to make other people feel uncomfortable because if you can get a bunch of 'cause like, that's why hate this narrative of like white people have money black people PO because the reality is that's not the case. It's not they show little segments and bits and pieces of poverty..

"Don't it. And when that has. Happened it allow Tom Brady in that defense. Nancy? The problem is when you can start to run, you don't know where the pass stop it. Right. Go around you just confuse you can't get a real pass rush because you've afraid that they're going to keep gashing with the run. And that's when they have some success during the ball. This is not going to happen game. Because I know way philosophy. I understand how he thinks he will make you beat him in other ways. He will get Tom Brady off a spot. He's going to have earned Donald and Tom Brady. And he's going to have to either go you'll move, right? A little bit of move left in notice that football. But Tom Brady will not have a free release. So that Aaron Donald all the this game he could possibly be. But no, I think the thing is here's the things when you play Tom Brady although the quarterbacks not on the field. You actually go to give Tom Brady because you have to match him Tom's gonna make plays the really great with. They're gonna make their plays. No matter. How many times you hit them in the mountain? They're gonna make their plays. It just when they give you an opportunity to make your place against you. Make sure you catch. She's the Madden. Simulation says that Aaron Donald can have four seven Super Bowl you want to bet on. Oh, you four doodle relations or cases of diet. Oh, relation taking. Oh, why not go back up your argument because put your do your mound lives? You don't play games and simulation. Feel oh I'm gonna tell you listen. He knows way. Wait bill. Really? Well, he's deep into coordinate years coach produces coordinated going to get him out if he has to blitz because a lot of teams the bliss in the middle because you give the edge the quarterback run. They're not worried about that. You think the Rams are gonna win this about? Am I right? All of new. I think Sean does I do believe that it's hard to get the patriots. But in this case, why lady Flor glazed away Phillips, and we actually demon last night over Twitter of he's happy. He's feeling good. And I know what he's gonna do going into this game. Tom Brady will get moved off a spot in depictions. And I'm not saying I'm not gonna win. But if they do win is going to be because Tom Brady has decided to move off at a spot and Bill hosted this game now. Now, as we all know, Tom Brady's postseason numbers are almost too good to be true. He's about to play in his ninth Super Bowl and can win an NFL record six ring any just concluded his thirteen AFC championship game. The one person that can probably compare to the best. "So it sounds like they got a really do a big change about the philosophy of what who they are. Where are the Steelers? Now, I don't wanna. Team or you going back to the basics of what championship JJ Smith Schuster. If you say, hey, we're going to go back to run the ball. And we want to get mixed up in the briar patch and start hitting people noon, those things you know, what he'd say I'm in. I'm a football player. That's what that's AB. He'd be pound on the sideline, you know? Crying about not getting enough opportunities. This is the ultimate team gay man and due to win championships. If that's truly what it's all about. And I believe that it is to truly be a championship caliber squad and a championship caliber team. You have to care more about the other guys on your team you care about yourself. And I doubt the Abe cares about anybody more than he cares about himself. Let you go. Do you think this is something that AB can come back from in the locker room? Can he get that and earn that respect back in the locker room? Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. The locker rooms one of the most forgiving places in the world. I mean, they're, you know in every locker room, you got four or five touch guys every locker room does how do you manage your touch guy help right? The problem is if all your touch guys are the superstars like then who's going to who's going to really in like who's going to bring it together. And especially if the organization isn't gonna hold any of buddy accountable. You know, what's really hard to hold people accountable as a player, you're a leader in that locker room, if the organization isn't going to back you when you're trying to hold Antonio Brown accountable, then then you've lost. There's no way there's no way the locker room can can police itself, and it needs to be a big change. In fact, my thank you so much. Why did he tell everybody that? He's the goat. We're going to discuss that map. No who is the greatest player in NBA history. Lebron or Jordan MJ was six zero in the finals. But LeBron recently said that bringing the Cavs back from three one deficit in the two thousand sixteen finals against the warriors made him the greatest of all time. Take a listen. Made me the greatest player of all time. I was a super super ecstatic the win one for Cleveland because of the fifty two year drought like Alba's ecstatic. Like, obviously, I showed that the first wave of emotion was when everyone saw me crying like that was all for fifty two years everything sports going on in Cleveland. "I gotta walk out with another three no baby didn't ugly. Yes for joining us. No, no. Who is the greatest player in NBA history. Lebron or Jordan MJ was six zero in the finals. But LeBron recently said that bringing the Cavs back from three one deficit in the two thousand sixteen finals against the warriors made him the greatest of all time. Take a listen. Maybe the greatest player will facilitate. I was super super ecstatic to win one for Cleveland because it a fifty two year drought. Like, how ecstatic like, obviously, I showed that the first wave of emotion was everyone saw me crying like that was all for fifty two years everything sports going on Cleveland. And then after I stopped. I was like. Downright. They're made you the greatest player world time. No, everybody was just how they were greatest team of all time. Like there was a greatest team ever assembled for us to come back. You know, the way we came back in fashion. I was like. Be you did some special. That's why I wanted to only times in my career. I felt like like you do some special. I haven't had really had time to really like sit back and think but that. That was a moment. Chris is this crazy to say should ward. He's Schiff Illich. He can feel that way that he's the greatest player. But I'm surprised he said it I've talked with Michael Jordan techs with Michael Jordan about you know, the goat conversation this. And that and Jordan always says you can't compare errors. Now, anybody could say their to go is Michael Jordan. He's never said, it Kareem Abdul Jabbar could say he's never said it. I'm not gonna kill him for saying it, and I'm gonna get to why in a minute. But it's surprising to hear somebody come out and say it now, I'm starting to wonder LeBron has always said, I wanna be like Muhammad Ali, you know, in terms of being a global icon in terms of his off the court, you know, outside of the sport work, and he's obviously doing great stuff there. But one of the things that makes us feel. Like Muhammad Ali was the greatest 'cause he lost fights. And all that was him saying it over and over to he told us, I'm the greatest I'm the greatest even when he lost. I'm the greatest and we bought into it. And he look he was tremendous. And I part of me wonders is LeBron saying I'm going to start putting it out there. 'cause remember said a few years ago, you should be on mount Rushmore. You know, he said a few years ago. I'm chasing the ghost in Chicago. I'm wondering if he feel like this is a way to get myself on the top of that discussion. Now you and I agree. He's not to go. Now. I would challenge LeBron say, look if you say this. I mean, he said it he would be in two thousand sixteen which is ridiculous. You can't say Cleveland hadn't won in fifty two years. What Chicago was a joke of a franchise before. Michael Jordan got around. Great dynasty, not just one championship if LeBron and I don't think he I don't think he can really. Michael, jordan. But if you want to do something to make people really think you to go then go out and lead the Lakers this year. But it has hypoth- thing to the championship was. Here's the problem is just it's not classy, you not suppose. The patch yourself on the back. That's what other people say about you. That's why you've heard never heard Michael Jordan used that term to describe himself because that's not what you do. All right. A lot of people. Call Tom Brady to go. Have you ever heard Tom Brady say he's the goat? Of course. Not. And that's the problem within LeBron knows. He's not. So he's the one going out trying to promote himself and put it out there and the Muhammad Ali comparison doesn't work boxing is an individual thing. It's a part of the cell of who you are. And the boxing thing. It's oh, I'm the greatest he was saying that before he of a one, right? So that was just a do. You know what I'm saying? It wasn't after he won the title. That he said he was the greatest he said he was the greatest period before he'd beat sunny listed and whatnot. Right. So so it's totally different..

I mean, it certainly means, you know, well dressed, and there's probably a economic implication. But I don't I don't think stark up is the is the implication. I mean, I used to golf a lot as a kid I would dress like a preppy dress. I went to a Catholic high school we're acquired address in a preppy approach. Why why you gotta hate rich people? I'm sarah. I'm just I'm just saying, hey, rich, people revelation of a lot issues here a lot of issues. Christopher cross. I think every time you talk the rest of the show have Christopher cross planning. Maybe the rest of your time like forever on the show moving onto some real thing. I'm serious moving onto some some sports. I have said this before and I know I don't mind, look, I don't mind being criticized that's part of the job. And I don't mind people disagreeing I sort of bristle at the hot take label because what happened in in sports media over the last ten years. Thanks to deadspin in the big lead. Is that when someone has a perspective that is not the prevailing perspective? They labeled a heartache in skip Bayless. Ask wanna be approach the reality is you should be able to have a perspective that is different than everybody else's. And I would argue that the really impressive sports writers thinkers, talk radio, host broadcasters. They're not always right, but they often get things, right? Other people. Because they see things from their own perspective. And they're not swayed by the crowd that is one of the things that utterly and totally struck me when I started covering sports full-time and particularly when I became embedded with the Miami Heat. I've been doing sports for a long time at that point is how much group think takes over and impacts really smart successful reporters how much they are so much more worried about what their competition is writing rather than the actual storyline. Plain out in front of them. And I would argue that part of the reason that there's this overwhelming perspective that Kevin Durant is the better player than Steph curry, it's just it's just not. So it's just not the case. Kevin Durant was the number two overall pick in the draft and he had to join staff and Klay injury Monica championship Steph. Curry is the greatest shooter in the history of basketball. He is so impactful in what he does that the entire NBA has recalibrated how it approaches the game the players that it scouts how they scheme the coaches that they hire the pace they've play at the number of threes. They take Steph curry did that to the NBA jobs like Jordan, just like some of the all time greats and all the sports that come along, aren't you? So great they impose their will on their opponents. They impose their will on the actual direction of the game. Why can earthquake shifting the flow of a river? That's what curry dip. And yet we look past it. He's not the athlete that drain is. He's not imposing he actually looks a lot more athletic in person. It's interesting on television. He looks almost boyish right? Like a teenager. He's baby-faced. He's small and he's not small. But compared to the guys he's not very big in person the athleticism. You can see more. And what he did is he created through. And obviously he comes from a family of athletes, but through ridiculous, hard work. He was able to rebuild his shot. And they thought he was going to be a lot shorter than he was. So that's why he shoots the way that he does in his quick release and make himself one of the best players of all time. But I also think that I've made this case before the part of what makes him great. And I would put his basketball skill against anybody against anybody in the NBA not name. Lebron LeBron probably the best player of all time. But let me go to Jordan. I know Steph now Jordan, political Jordan Jordan was obviously remarkable gift basketball player. Of course, he was but part of the reality in the narrative and the selling point in the legend of Michael Jordan MJ was he imposed his will on everyone. He imposes will on the enemy. He mentally owned everyone. He played he never went to seven games in NBA finals, he denied Karl Malone and John Stockton, probably their rightful places, especially Malone in the pecking order of all time players would have been top ten top twelve player. In that in that category. Had he gotten one he punched John Paxson once he belittled his own GM MJ imposed his will on every aspect of his professional life. It's why he was Michael Jordan any did it in an MG way. He was angry. He was competitive. He was driven Curry's done the exact same thing only because it's a different part of his personality is that have imposes well the game versus teammates doesn't get the credit. He's imposed his will on the game. As I talked about by changing how it's played, but he also imposes well on the team by making them a unit whereas MJ in an era of ice. Oh basketball solo basketball, one star to rule the mall MJ had to be the man and imposable in his teammates. Follow me. You are one of my many minions. You are one of my many warriors. But I'm the guy curry intuitively or maybe consciously. I dunno understood the NBA's different and his approach how impose his will. Was that this team believed in each other and the best version of Klay Thompson immersed and the best verge by Klay. Thompson is probably the third or fourth. Best shooter of all time as a result. And the best version of Draymond green emerged and the death lineup emerged and Audrey dollar came in as a highly coveted free agent and find out what the hell I'll come off the bench of I have to be credit. Doesn't matter. Steph curry impose his will in a way that isn't celebrated isn't sexy because there's no fireworks. But it's starkly clear when he's injured and Kevin Durant. Draymond green are going after each other and screaming at each other. And a Sam amick told us trim on screaming the b word quite a bit of Kevin Durant. I know some of you other accused the b word that's not nice, and that's our saying here, and that's not the point. But I hear you the point that I'm making is this Curry's excellent. And his greatness is clear on the floor, and it's just as impactful in that locker room, he's the guy that put that culture together. He's the guy that turned the war is one of the greatest teams I've ever seen. And I've always thought this and then last week on Friday, we had Tom Habur show on the show. Tom average, Joe longtime ESPN NBA aficionado an analytic machine. Looks at numbers finds patterns, very smart now NBC sports, and I was in. I have. I have disagreed a lot of things I was crushing. Lebron when I was a columnist when I was covering the heat for the first time in Miami. And ESPN I moved down there for the for the gig ESPN four guys I compete against four guys Brian winters, and if ever other people Tom was like the fourth guy, and sort of learning and I liked Tom and he likes me, but he's certainly thought I was a skip Bayless wannabe. And I thought maybe he was a little too in the numbers, right? Like, we had a different perspective on the Braun in the NBA at that point. He's been incredibly successful. And he deserves every bit of it. I was shocked when I brought this up that he agreed with me when I asked him whether courier Durant was the better player the warriors played better when Steph curry is playing by himself, and he's not playing next to d versus when katie's playing five self without Steph curry, the warriors are just better. And that's just shows the player value. It's hard to wrap your head around the idea that someone could be such a great shooter that it kind of it doesn't matter that you're not gonna leak defender. It doesn't matter that you're not six ten. It doesn't matter that you're not elite and elite pass or just by virtue of drawing two defenders as soon as you cross half court and having all the attention on. You you make everyone else around you better. And you make the game so much easier for everyone around you. Then I think that's why he's such a transcendent players that shooting ability to shoot makes everyone around him improved and just wanna play next to that guy. I think that's exactly right Steph. Curry is the second best player in the NBA. And when Kevin Durant bolts at the end of the year, the warriors are going to win another championship without K D. And then and only then is curry going to get the respect that he deserves. He is an Alzheimer. He's the greatest shooter ever. He changed the game. And I will take him a thousand times out of a thousand times over. Kevin Durant, and I want both. But I'm taking curry I eight five five two one two four CBS eight five five two one two four CBS. How many of you agree that Curry's the better player and how many like we have a regional? Maybe we'll play break think I'm a crazy person. And I've lost my mind. And that Katy is clearly better. We'll take your phone calls. We'll talk it through eight five five two one two four CBS on righter than you with me. Bill Ryder when we continue on CBS sports radio. You started a.

"And again, like with mellow, this is going to come down to what does Dwayne really want out of this last stage of his basketball life. And again, that's not something the rest of us get to decide for. Him. I remember covering Michael Jordan at the end of his tenure with the bulls when he hit that last second shot in Utah to win the title in ninety eight, everyone declared it be perfect ending to his career, and certainly for those looking for a three books finish it was, but it turns out a storybook finish wasn't the most important thing to Michael Jordan. MJ is someone who's very identity is tied up and playing competitive basketball, and it turns out what he actually wanted was to keep playing competitive basketball. So he returned with the wizards in, yeah, there were some dark moments, but I was also there the night. He dropped forty points at age forty against a nets team that would go on later that year to play in the NBA finals. It was at the end of that year that Michael finally retired for the last time and there were a lot of folks ticking about what a shame it had been that he end just left well enough alone after that shot and Utah. But those people don't get to decide what qualified as perfect. For Michael. He did just like no one, except mellow and d. Wade get to decide what they're perfect ending should be. I'm curious to see what they pick. Only hope that I they have asked themselves with. They really, really want. So Brian, if Mela does end up signing with Houston, do you buy in that he really wants that version of himself? What do you expect? What we've got to hear from him? Because he's been a longtime where he's seen how this is played out. He knows that he is going to go to the rockets. He's talked with the rockets. I feel like mellow is maybe a player that the rockets want, but I'm necessarily the player that they need because he really at this point is one of the most challenge defensive players in the league, his position, the rockets need defense, not really more offense. So to me, I mean, maybe they promise starting role which I could actually see, but there's going to be a lot of times where I don't think mellow can finish the game because he's not going to be able to play up there defensively, if he's cool with that tonight, you think this can work if he's not cool with that. We're just kicking the ball down the field to the issues he was going to have with under. I think we'll see motivated mellow and part of that will be this connection with crystal. I mean, that's one of the brotherhood as they call it. And of course he knows Paul George knows Russell Westbrook from being an all star games isn't that that same type of bond there? I think that can kind of gloss over some of the rough areas, rough patches that we see next season. I'm with you that the defensive deficiencies could be a problem. I think part of the Houston Rockets doing their their homework on him will be to look him in the eye or whether this happened are not. I heard that maybe this one of their conversation they want to have in Vegas was, will you be okay if you don't start at some point, we could be a working a work in progress with. All right. It's always acting. Joe Johns like they did last year and his role could change, how will he, you know, deal with that. We just saw him during that series against Utah when he was pulled out, the team was winning without him coming back without him on the floor, and he was going at these coaches, put me back in put me back in which again. That's okay. It's okay to be competitive. It's part of the reason that mellow has been such an incredible successor career. It's okay to wanna, keep playing basketball and play quality basketball and have lots of touches in the ball. Go through you. That's that's just sort of wanted ascribe to everyone..
