Philadelphia Eagles agree to terms with RB Jordan Howard

"Philadelphia signed jordan howard and they resigned boston scott last week and the bengals awesome good. That's just that's okay. If i will stay with the bengals released giovanni bravo. Go to the eagles this matter. We're just glossing way where we're just going to gloss over geelong we'll come back to that start with the eagles does. Does this matter. Jordan howard and boston scott back and again. The boss scott was not a surprise. They tendered leave so they did. We knew he was coming back. But now jordan howard joining the fold does this matter for miles sanders. Obviously scott matters more. I wonder if he'll become their version. Of nahim hines. And kinda sorta was already and jordan. Our coming back i. I'm not sure why. I don't know what they saw. In jordan howard. When he was in miami that makes them want to put him on the roster that maybe the roster spot is in guaranteed that would probably be the case We'll see it's not gonna make me any more nervous to draft miles sanders still think sanders worth a top thirty pack

"Every month on. Cbs sports network special. Thanks to emory hunt. That was awesome stuff very educational love talking football with him and looking forward to bringing down the other positions. Okay dave news and notes. The falcons are open to trading the number four pick. That's not a surprise. Should be yet the rams gm less need and visions matthew stafford as the team starting quarterback for five to eight seasons. Okay all right. Zac give them a little bit. More appealing in dynasty. Does that make him a good I guess a bilo in dynasty figuring though you can squeeze squeeze stafford's juice for few more years than you might anticipate. I don't know i don't think i don't think it means that much. But if you're really in a pickle quarterbacks aaron a superplex he someone you can try and grab and hope that less need is right about the at least the five part philadelphia signed jordan howard and they resigned boston scott last week and the bengals awesome good. Newton Runs For 2 TDs, Patriots Hold Off Miami Dolphins 21-11

"The Cam Newton era is off to a super start in New England as the Patriots Open the post Tom Brady era with a 21 11 win over the Dolphins. Newton rust for a pair of touchdowns and 75 yards on a Patriots quarterback record. 15 carries It was great. It was what you were expected it to be. I'm just so blessed to have this opportunity to be affiliated with an organization. You know, knowing that in itself is a blessing to get a win. That's another added plus Jordan. Howard's one yard TD with 10 14 remaining brought Miami within three, but Sony Michelle's one yard TD and J. C. Jackson pick of Ryan Fitzpatrick in the end zone sealed

"Going to be extremely valuable. Do you like his ADP RB FORTY-ONE ADP OF ONE THIRTY ONE? What was Howard one fourteen, but do you like either one of them there? Yeah I actually don't mind either one of them. At their ADP's I mean we're talking like eleventh round in thirteenth. Round, so I'm pretty okay with both of them. Actually if Jordan Howard in the tenth round, I will be drafted him there absolutely i. don't even really like Jordan Howard and I would still be taking. Taking him in the ten thrown I don't see these guys climbing either like I just see these as being two names that people forget about so if you're listening now, pay attention to that. Yeah, everybody's GonNa see the trade debris or a Braida to the dolphins would be like all split. It's not going to happen. There's a good possibility that Howard returns better investment. I'm probably a little higher than I am with Howard. Just because I expect the dolphins to be trailing and most of their. Their Games so I think that breed is going to be on the field more, but in games where the dolphins actually get a lead. They're going to hand the ball. The Jordan Howard Twenty to twenty five times in speaking of trailing. Let's move on to the wide receivers. The ones that benefit the most from garbage time fantasy football, the ones that we love so much, and we'll start with devante Parker Tyler. Let's kick it off right with you. devante Parker really high on him he's. He's the king of garbage time. He really emerged last year from week ten on. He only had two games where we saw less than ten targets. I'm a big targets guy. I like to see a lot of targets I think in that timeframe. He was wide receiver to or those last seven weeks not to discount press in Williams was injured after them. devante Parker is an easy wide receiver on your fantasy squads this year. Yeah Parker finally broke out, and it was in year five. That generally does not happen, but seventy two receptions, hundred and twenty eight. Eight targeted twelve hundred yards and nine touchdowns finished tenth overall at the wide receiver position I. Really WanNa touch on what tyler just said, though because he spot on, he was only averaging five,.

"For a bit it's not bad what did what the bears get for a did they trade away Jordan Howard what they get for Jordan Howard I want to say up fifths fifth or a sixth you got a guy that was healthy that supposedly was one of the greatest running backs of all time for the Chicago Bears if you listened some fans around here and all they ended up gives getting it you know that's it was a fifth foreground you get you somebody's giving up some traffic would be for a guy that's been retired for a year he was wrestling for heaven's sake I know who's doing dives off of the state what do you what what he wants and what he's going to be when he comes back I it was the confidence that Brady has on him is the most important thing for Tom Brady he wants to have that target over the middle of the field and then he's got the the Godwin and he's got evidence yeah shopping for joy you call my head on to be the third wide receiver on that team for please one running backs three wide receivers you got that tight end I want to be the slot I want to cover everybody else guys I'm gonna just do the little jitterbug thing I'm term member Perriman went somewhere in free agency R. C. back their separate breshad Perriman yeah I can't remember if you went somewhere else in free agency for stand in Tampa I got a double check that the last time Gronk played sixteen your quiz two thousand eleven he did play fifteen and fourteen he played fifteen and fifteen then just half a season sixteen fourteen games in seventeen thirteen games in eighteen if I were to say that rob Gronkowski is V. best tight end in the history of the late what would you say I would say you're way off really I think he's gonna be in the hall of fame visually he'll be in the hall of fame I think Tony Gonzalez and Shannon Sharpe had better career through the at well because they did it then other longevity for sure but in terms of only Tony Gonzalez was dominant tight end I know but he wants that extended period of time I know the touchdowns in the amount of games yeah it is pretty darn impressive yeah I I'm I'm I'm not going to argue with you it's kind of like this John Alexander argument you know debate not the because we both agree but like it's kind of what we were using to back up our belief of how great of a running back Shaun Alexander was but we weren't talking about Shaun Alexander being the greatest running back no that's true that's fair you're asking me if he's the greatest tight end of all time and I'm saying no hi he's awfully good okay and so you can argue the touchdowns with the games played yeah it's not like he blows everybody else away then I would then argue okay come to games did you play with the amount of games that he could've played radio he's only played one hundred fifteen games okay so just a little bit more to me yeah I mean really what that's a good point would you put like a hundred and ten yeah view the hundred and something something something something and then he played despite her just current taxes being hit hers was the twenty fifth pick in the search so he was a first round yes and what at first rounder yes you know and again from that song he's been kind of a bust so far all right three one two three three two three seven seven six will grab some more calls when we come back and then at one thirty the end we were on the bears Plancy covers the bears for the Tribune we'll talk a little drop of him coming up in about fifteen minutes Carmen.

"Then becomes amber why swift over Jonathan Taylor who had a blistering forty time at the combine lieutenant talk out of the combine off the regarding weapons if concerned about his expanded your outfit right there and he's the best running back in his position and if you get the opportunity to take the best guy in this draft of his decision to go ahead and take it I mean you're talking about a guy who thousand nineteen yet more than twelve hundred yards seven rushing touchdowns he has that kind of packing ability even though his numbers aren't quite as body if you look at the tape he certainly has that ability if they don't find a young weapon they did bring in Jordan Howard in free agency but they brought him in on a low cost deals and I think people running backs right this gives you an opportunity to bring a running back on a rookie deal a lot of people are concerned about drafting running backs in the first round I mean I think there's like thanks seven who have gone in the first round since the two thousand and sixteen NFL draft why drop the guy who got a position that because of the shelf life of running backs in the NFL even if you don't you may not sign a second contract but this is not the door open to only pick in the first round this is their third state in the first round so you get the opportunity here Hey guy off the board at that position and get get assigned to a rescue deal you don't have to worry about the second contract so you have to worry about it in the future and young very risky that guy he provides you that weapon five years old control I'm not sure the rams or the Panthers and you decide to reassure ready.

S. public the CDC estimates will have until the modeling that's really influence public decision making was this modeling says thirty percent of the public will get the coronavirus over the next year so we're all going to get it we may not get some play but we're not gonna sh not sure when most of us won't have any problems at all but those of us who do have problems could have big problems if that's an issue for everybody because it's you know it's pretty much the military that you're taking care of folks but it's expensive it overwhelms Yardley causes real ethical dilemmas when you can't take care of everybody that's what it'll be suffering from so in in in a desire to avoid that people really start taking what seems like draconian actions but when you really get a behind the scenes they say look I'd rather over react and pull back in two weeks we know we got ahead of it a little bit then under react and be known throughout history is the person who's well who's to slow to two and too indecisive to save lives that's exactly what I was talking about earlier what mad mac called I know you sound a little upset he's out in the attic Griffith Indiana and a lot of people are you know if you're in the restaurant business or you have a for a restaurant and we're gonna get into some of I'm a big craft beer guy and I got a list here of some of my favorite craft beer places and they're all working on you you know being open you can stop by and get howlers or growlers of beer at a holler is let's see thirty two ounces of the growlers a little bit more sixty four ounces and you can pick up beer and some of these establishments and it's a great way for them to keep open and to do something obviously all their taprooms have to be close we'll get to that in a little bit but one more thing from Dr oz because when he was our wireless over earlier today the guys ask them what do you think everything will retort will return to normal I think that's something everybody wants to know I asked the surgeon general that this morning he said sixty weeks I've been saying June in fact I'm my birthday is in June and I have a big kidz foundation called health court we raised a hundred million dollars help kids learn about helping to help support programs at all like and I delayed it up you're supposed to be in a couple weeks ago waited till June I'm betting that by June will be back to normal enough that people come to a gallon and some put my money where my mouth is I'm open right if I'm wrong I will be won by much and then when the fall it's going to come back again the virus but it won't be nearly as problematic as doctors what Bucks better treatments a lot of us were boarded and inspected so we we've we've we create a firewall he stole the virus's ability to travel to the population because you can't get affected twice and that's amazing I mean six day weeks he says June it's March sixteenth and then we hear that baseball is trying to shoot for mid may man oh man that might be very very optimistic as I said we'll talk a little bit more baseball a little bit later in the show but mid may might be the time when pitchers go back to spring training and then you have to wait a couple of weeks as they get themselves work back into shape again I think the put the batteries the players regular position players they could probably go a drop of a hat they had their spring training a lot of them say listen just you know couple of games couple of swings I get the I go in and I'll be fine a week or two is spring training be **** probably find a lot of the position players but for some of the pictures yeah they need a little bit more time and so yeah the whole the whole situation we're dealing with is one of them is probably is the most bizarre we've ever dealt with I talked with this thing first started I've been here since Wednesday I don't think there's nobody else here at the station I think Tyler you've probably been here since Wednesday too right yep yeah yep are you and I are the only two I think we've been there before yeah we've been here since Wednesday so Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday today's Monday I'm not here tomorrow but then I'll be back on Wednesday night and it's weird because every time you walk in something else happens Margie and Greco was in here with water so be a little bit earlier and he was talking about how they're still doing their show down and State Street in the showcase window and everything but nobody sitting close to each other I was watching channel line last night I know sorry A. B. C. oz watching channel line yesterday news comes out at night an hour earlier so I was watching and Jackie Bange was at her desk one place and the other guy doing the news was at a complete other side of the studio model wide shots this week that's unbelievable and so you know here so he was here you heard throughout the day today there was no cross talk they didn't want to get four people are fat you know three or four people in the studio or one time waddle is kind of quarantine himself after going down a picking up his daughter from Vanderbilt he was at home today so so he was in the studio by himself tonight I'm in the studio by myself and Tyler's a different studio that's just the way it always works so it's it's it's a bizarre situation we're all going through what we have to but we're here we're here for you we're here to talk to you about whatever it may be problems you may have some of the sports we're gonna talk to Kevin fish made a couple of minutes because the bears we weren't sure what kind of ID news would have on the bears today and that earlier today we thought Hey teddy Bridgewater and then we heard no no maybe not teddy Bridgewater that we heard maybe falls and Dalton that's still a possibility and then we heard from a guy about an hour ago maybe a half hour ago saying that apparently the bears are still interested but they want a thorough before they spend their money they want a thorough physical done and teddy Bridgewater who knows what's true the one thing we do know is the bears have another tight end and I say another because there's like eight or nine under contract so I actually just stumbled upon a tweet from Mike clay you want to guess how many tight ends the bears have under contract right now is it eight hours a diner's Albany with his hands had initially put out a list of nine and then the guy was unbelievably I missed one Darian Clarke also on the rise right that's.

Analysis: New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles

"New England Beats Philadelphia. Seven hundred ten tight game. Your boy Ataman throws a touchdown pass What do we make of these teams right now? Well I mean I think the entire takeaway for Philly fans is predicated on what you think of New England if you think think. New England is the Super Bowl. Contending team which I think there are a super bowl. Contending Tamed Sound Down on now. Though it sounds like your your little awesome while you worry about the offense and she do I mean like how could you not and you worry about stopping the red eye. Eagles went away from a little bit. They were down Jordan. Howard I think if you look at it that outweigh it's not the worst? Lost Eagles had all season. But of course it's the biggest loss because it's the latest and now they're five hundred nece was like they put themselves in a position where losses to Atlanta and in Detroit and teams like that amounted up and made this a must win and of course in the NFC. Nothing's truly a must win but we mentioned the eagles struggles with Dallas earlier. Everybody has to over simplify things and make it a win thing and I just got actually got a tweet from A guy earlier one of the listeners owners definitely from Boston like Oh crooked. Cancel the pod Ryan at Ryan at Chris. Because he doesn't want to you know. Take the eagles offense to task. The offense was bad. Dude Carson didn't play take that twelve but like Carson Carson didn't play Great Lake but guess what you've been touting this patriots it's defense all year is the best of all time or in that in that and we have come down to earth bit but you gotTa pick one because Carson not having a perfect game against these guys with down the starting running back down to Sean Jackson down. Alshon Jeffery down both tackles at one point in the game by by the way when Lane Johnson leaves early early. That's a big deal. Carson was pressure twenty. Two out of forty eight snaps again. He holds the ball long too long sometimes so that stat his snapped releases relevant the longer longer you hold it the more. You're going to get pressured. But he had four incompletion role in that final drive. I didn't think he had agreed. Asli bag game but it was funny to me that in a game where the goat who still a really good player was all over the place. The first avenue set a record for incompletions and a half. It's the first game. He played an entire game. You didn't leave bleed. The Patriots and touchdown passes shutout Jules. I just think like are we going to be mad at Brady to a I. I know whence isn't the goat and he doesn't get that kind of slack but that's a team who offensively has to hurry up and figure some things out for the for the level of expectation in New England to be met and of course Romo Romo who I love every time Brady missed the throw is the wind. Every time went Smith stores like he missed another one there. And if this is the game you're GONNA TO GIVE UP ON WHENCE OVER I. You're giving up on Wednesday like as a franchise quarterback score on trees. I think you're you're you're shortsighted. Second this is not the game like he didn't didn't play that well but bro. That's the best defense in the league. Most people think right. That's what people think at this point Yeah they are San Francisco. You know San Francisco the team gave up fifty points to I mean Devi. Oh man done sound like rail exact science so I'm looking at it now. 'cause Devia was telling me these guys were both both the two thousand Ravens. Yeah now they are and I mean going into the week they still were way ahead of everybody else. I mean I was looking at the numbers this morning. They don't get updated Until until the Monday night or so we'll know more about inter you're right. I mean that San Francisco who in what last couple of weeks we're going. Oh wait a minute what what happened to these guys on Defense Pencil Not GonNa sit there and say then all of a sudden I still. I've always liked personnel better than New England's but New England's one holding a team down to ten after they gave up a bunch of yards to Lamar and those guys so I think the Brady thing it continues to be this thing. That's real his first half second half stuff it just felt like yesterday was just a grind. You know what I mean to grind for everybody. You know what I mean but you know how like if you have a buddy and you seem like walking somewhere and you're like what's wrong like just having a bad day. Yeah just arduous and soon as they got out of the house everything was a challenge and it just felt like the Brady and his movements. And maybe I'm doing too much here and maybe but I don't think I am. I think I'm right here. I really the the more I watch him this year. The more I think things just feel more challenging and I don't know if it's just because the offensive line I don't know it's because no gronk you know it could be all of these things collectively but I think even the biggest patriots fan has to admit and some private moment that you know. Maybe this is what it looks like for the end of Tom and then as soon as I say that out loud goes probably was so who knows. I'm not willing to do that because I'm not going to be the guy what I'm saying is though that poses the question to you. I mean you're forty two forty three years old. You'RE GONNA have I bad days where the ball is not just zip off your arm You know outside the Hashes Brady Brady is still going to have them in a position to compete for the whole thing at the end of the year even with the lack of Gronk with the lack of Devlin with the line problems with some of the drops he had yesterday. But I would ask you this. The Eagles secondary has been much maligned. The Patriots Defense has been called one of the best ever right. So why are we sitting here talking about and Tom didn't have a great game. You know who had about the same game as Tom Carson. They both they both had bad throws. But we're sitting here and I know that the go gets a lot more leash 'cause he's the goat and he's going to have his team where they need to be and I'm a huge fan. So don't don't mistake. This is a Tom Critique but people have not gray days Tom will tell you that Carson had not great day against one of the best defense of all time and if you look at these two these two offenses they both fallen awful lot. Since that's your boy. I think the Eagles Miss Frank Reich. I think they may they miss de Filippo. I think they had a lot of injuries but the pats have a lot of injuries and they've fallen on off a lot since that super bowl. Our defense in seventeen was much better than the not much better. It's better than the eagles defense right now. We have more pieces. They put up six hundred plus yards yards. Offensively on US yesterday was like you said a struggle and so I think there's concerns for both offenses here. One obviously has a much better cushion and a defense defense. That's GONNA keep me in every game.

"Ages six and listen to the roar of the crowd from last year if you sold your here the air raid siren or the bear raid sirens because it was drowned out by all of the cheering that man's game last year boy that defense was swarm and it was awesome the often still was there but you know it was a great came and I just remember Soldier Field the coming just such a huge home field advantage you remember every time your dos would try to go to the head set yes they listen to make fake because it was very publicized I believe that was the one main reasons why that nagging originally ask them to use the better rates Iran to create more noise so Sean McVay could not communicate easily with his quarterback as he was setting up the defense from in sort of coaching in that way they held the rams in that game to two hundred and fourteen total yards they were three of twelve on third down and they forced four interceptions they had is it sacking the bunch as well unfortunate unfortunately the bears won that game fifteen to six it wasn't because of their offense Mitchell promiscuous sixteen of thirty for a hundred and ten yards a touchdown and three interceptions by Jordan Howard had nineteen carries a hundred and one yards so for all the people there screaming at us that the bears made a big mistake getting rid of Jordan Howard which I think there is it there are a lot of people they feel that way Jordan Howard had himself a night that night but it was not raining all night it was not a thing of beauty but it was it was the most dominant defensive performance I had seen and I can't tell you yeah yeah in a al Michaels will be joining us here in a minute or two it but it was just last week the bear raid siren with no crowd noise just doesn't sound cool why do you know what I can hear the siren it drowns out the fans were is the hours you know because there was no noise you know when it was such a boring game and remember at that time what were they were there with the with the rams twelve eleven AM to at that point they were they were yeah they were rolling on there were eleven and one the bears won that game to move to nine and four right so so that I think the rams came in and they were eleven and one I believe in that game weren't they when they got to town the checker yes yes they were they were eleven and one at the time the bears the day and then the rams ended up losing to Philly the following week well they came to town eleven a one but they still went to the Superbowl you know when they sell it to the Super it was hollow because of the call for me but yeah they went to the Superbowl this is the end this is the defending NFC participants in the Superbowl but that win last year at Soldier Field was the first time I started to believe the bears could go to the Super yeah I mean that in that was a great defense that's when they were they were playing great great how many names different names did you hear that montage Kyle fuller Eddie Jackson Eddie Goldman Akeem heck I greatly this lance point was mentioning letter full anyway where I mean the difference between last year and this year on a number of fronts Eddie Jackson last year in the full season had fifteen passes defended six interceptions and two forced fumbles to this point in the season and get more only nine games in five passes defended zero interceptions zero forced fumbles now I'm not suggesting treated as having a horrible year and sometimes the ball comes your direction sometimes it doesn't but the dynamic there there is not there this year and and the entire defense with all of the explosive play we talked to Tony Dungy earlier bears on Sunday night football we had a mind before the opener more ball have times changed here in Chicago and we were going to sing Happy Birthday to him but we decided to do it I can't play a game he does not want to hear us sing him too much respect for al Michaels to sing to it was al Michaels birthday two days ago our good friend Michael will bind told us about that yesterday and the al Happy Birthday belated I did you have a good day two days ago but but don't believe all of the numbers in there November twelfth is correct the rest of it I would like to tell you news but the listen I'm just on this side of the B. pivot there's only one of the and speaking of the deep division yeah so within the past hour I was wrapping up a round of golf at the at my club here in Los Angeles and who did I see district okay that makes that again now you guys right you guys are not pining for Kate Kate make bound to return at any particular point we may be now our guys played recently make that said to me he said how come how come that he did wind up in our room mount Rushmore of Chicago storage we had going before the one up on the opening day of the week but George Allison Walter Payton and Dick but good on there and said look yeah Christian I picked you know four guys me Jim it's a tough thing to do and I told Kate that he did he did at the finish in the top two thousand Bucks thirty seven that is awesome did you did you think that you would be getting two teams that look like this right now for this game no we didn't in fact like I keep thinking about the famous Denny green wine and to paraphrase the these teams are are not who we thought they were at least at the beginning of the season so but there's a long way to go and somebody's going to get healthy on Sunday night and the somebody's gonna be a heck of a lot better shape after Sunday night than the other team is going to be but it's a it's a crazy year and what we all owe a lot of stuff could happen between now and the end of December alors these kind of these teams from your perspective kinda mirrors of one another with the defense is certainly outpacing performance wise their offenses yes in in many ways it is and the other thing that Justin gonna going over a lot of stuff about the game this week you know how many guys on either team can you name or having a better year is this year than last year almost none none right maybe Allen Robinson from the bears but that's really our only guy who's really over achieved right who would agree to it but there's nothing really stands out to somebody who you say Hey this guy really made a quantum leap this year some guys have planned pretty much the same way they did last year but when you look at guys who have made a jump this year you tell me who you say yeah I mean I I'm I'm stunned tease even think about it I mean certainly here in Chicago it has even the defense out which is not been bad I mean but our expectation level is is so high that they have under achieved in many people's from many people's perspective well yeah I think a lot of it has to do is take away yeah you know I mean last year they were trying to take away from that makes a project and the difference in there haven't been the issue remains statistically they're they're pretty good and so the rams and in that regard but if you're not taking the ball away and the bears did it with great frequency last year and they were they were so dominant you know Khalil Mack was off the charts so you know he obviously missing Hakim picks up front that doesn't help Khalil individually their plan I guess well enough on that side of the ball to obviously have a better record it's been mainly as you guys know mainly about the offense and you can pretty much say the same thing about the ranch how could how old surprised are you that there has been basically no progress from the quarterback position here in Chicago with match I would say it's surprising to the degree that you saw him you know come along last year I thought I mean even in the the double going game he was able to lead him down the field and get away to position to win that game and that was a that was a heck of a drive with the end of the of the wild card game so you began to think and I have a twelve and four season and you're you're on the upswing in you've got a brand new coach who is an offensive guru so I think like everybody else I thought we'd see a lot of improvement this year so and you guys are closer to appease you there all the time what you know is if the injury was is whatever it was just a combination of things and you know with the rams and oil I look at them and look at Jared Goff and he's not living up to the standard that he looked like he would set last year if you want to go crazy at least in in LA here to what's going on is that offense of line they can't keep guys together is only one guy Andrew Whitworth who who is starring in the same position on on the Sunday night that he started in week one everybody else is new trying to get rookies look and a couple of free agents and may have you can't protect upfront you're in trouble the great now Michael joining us while in selfie on ESPN one thousand bears and rams on Sunday night football I I want to ask you about your general thoughts on and quarterbacks who under achieve like match we had this to Tony Dungy earlier are you more of the a believer in luck even if it doesn't go well this year you got to bring them back and tried to get him better or do you like what Arizona dead where you don't like Josh Rosen you get him out of town and you start a new now the bears don't have the top pick to draft a Kyler Murray but you know like plate like Jacksonville learn the top with a game they brought Blake Bortles back in he was bad so are you more of a year too early guy or would you rather err on the side of being a year too late well I would say in that particular case with two beds feeling he did show you enough last year and so it's it's there I mean this something that's there and again you thought that that would be improved upon this season maybe a step forward there hasn't been to this point there's still time left in the season so I'm not sure I would throw the baby out with the bath water here in Arizona is case in a rose it really did you show them anything and I think they felt that you know I think they think they made a really bad mistake and so it was time to just say get a scion our to him and again you know as you say if you have the number one pick and you can get somebody who's out there like that you know the kid from LSU or tag we have or something like that who you think can really be your franchise guide then maybe that's that's the way you might want to go but I don't see that that that happening in this particular circumstance how you you will christen had some really good games in seeing some really good football this year which team and maybe it which player has impressed you the most well I'll tell you what Lamar Jackson we were in there for that doing one game a couple weeks ago and he's breathtaking I mean that is stunning and I think right now people are starting to talk to me about you know do you like with the Superbowl and they are in a conversation right I mean the the ravens are in the conversation they have a really good offensive line the quarterback is he is really special I mean we saw you know the homes of all of last year and how exciting he is that you've got Jackson come along and you know they do different things with large action looks.

NFL Power Rankings: Projected wins and playoff chances for top 6 picks

"So ESPN dot com today. They put out the twenty nineteen NFL power rankings. They project the wind totals and the playoff chances for each team in the NFL. They used ESPN's football power index. It's the FBI you see it all the time on sportscenter during the NFL and college football season F B I. So they go through and they project the amount of wins. And then they say the purchase the chances of percentage that you make the playoffs. Who do you think is the number one team in the national? Football league for projected wins and their chances to make the playoffs for this season. Well, Chris I'm not gonna lie the audience. I'm looking right at it. And it is the Kansas City Chiefs, you could just play along. They don't know looking at I don't act like you're smart truthful with our listeners Kansas City Chiefs, number one. I don't do bits FBI projects their win total the ten point three which I believe is under their win. Total in Vegas. I believe their windows at ten and a half. So they win ten point three games. That means you go under. Yeah. I mean, it's pretty close. So it's dead. It's dead on. It's kind of a you just say they win ten games. I would think but yeah, I think that they and the chiefs chances to make the playoffs at eighty percent per ESPN dot com. FBI who's number two number two the New Orleans Saints and the saints are projected to win ten point ten games. Seventy six point nine percent chance to make the playoffs. According to. FBI number three on the list. The Los Angeles Rams at ten point one wins tied with the saints. And they are for chances to make the playoffs. Seventy six point four for the Los Angeles Rams number four seed, they're not just going by the projected win total because number four they have the New England Patriots. And they have actually the highest projected win total at ten and a half they do. But who's number four in their power rankings? The New England Patriots. Go five. That's what I'm saying. They're not making them by. Wins giving them the powerful power. I index they're saying these are how are rankings are because the doing the patriots. They have rate fourth. But by the football power index. They have the highest amount of wins in Vegas, though. The the patriots are set at eleven wins because everybody's betting that over who's number five. That would be the Indianapolis Colts the young upstart Indianapolis Colts whose whose quarterback who's this young new quarterback. I had everything was like hold up. We we haven't gotten to the Chicago Bears. We're talking colts. Okay. So F FBI is saying nine point two wins for the colts. Yeah. Fifty seven point nine percent chance to make the playoffs. Indeed. And coming in at number six. This is your bears fans not the Chicago Bears. But they have less projected wins than the Chicago Bears. They have a lower chance to make the playoffs. Then the Chicago Bears, and those would be the hoity toity, Los Angeles chargers and with their west coast, avocado toast, what I don't know. Point eight wins. Forty nine point seven percent chance to make the playoffs. So they have in the power rankings. Chargers ahead of the Chicago Bears because the bears are seventh. Yes. Projected by FBI the projected win total and be nine point one which would be under the nine and a half and the chance to make the playoffs at fifty five point six percent. Yes. And they have listed where the team improved. It says obviously Jeff Dickerson wrote this bears reporter for ESPN dot com. He wrote running back, obviously, they improved at running back by signing. Mike Davis grafting, David Montgomery, more touches for Trico and get him more involved in the offense getting rid of Jordan Howard trading him to the eagles. He says that the most of the TV improved the most at the running back position. They basically revamped that entire running back room by getting rid of a lot of guys. I think take one as L. My also be a camp casualty? We'll see how their other running

2019 NFL Draft prospects

"We're about three weeks from the NFL draft. It's been an interesting off season. If you were bears fan last season. It was interesting the bears gone out and done a lot of things this off-season than to talk about that and much much more. We bring in our guy NFL writer, Eric at home. Nice enough to jump on and Eric tonight. Everything's good. Yeah. It was just thinking these last three weeks for the drafter get a feel like any turn into here that always does every single year seems like it takes a long time here in Chicago. We've always been interested in the draft. Because usually the bears were bad a high draft pick. And now they were smart last year and traded pigs got gotta Khalil Mack. And now they've not picking until the third round unless they make a move. But I mean, I think it seems like all their other moves have been in you know, in free agency and bringing. Players in. So it's not nearly the draft excitement here in Chicago. Like, it was when just imagine if the draft was here, and it was no bears draft pick for you know, for the first day and a half down. Admit what difficult I think it would be legal to do that. The office. Like, let's about this. The bears probably will make their selection around nine o'clock. I think on Friday night. So you settle in. You know, maybe, you know, get some food get something to eat whatever it's going to be a while. I don't think they'll be moving up. They don't have a lot of picks. So yeah, it's gotta be patience is virtue for bears fans outside of kicker because kickers not real answer. When you talk about to what's the biggest need for the bears. Hang into the draft. It's a great question. You know, I think it probably, you know, I think what they did themselves. A lot of a good favor by refunding airless, you know, and just you know for a one year deal. Right. We know he's the third outside guy. But still it just eliminated one spot that you have to kinda reach four and not reach four. But you know, have to hope that somebody is at that position waiting for you in the draft. So it probably slimmed down to two maybe three or four positions. I would think running back has to be on that list. You know, I personally would like to see. Them. Get more death on the offense of line. And I think the secondary either corner or safety would be a spot they can look at and their few defensive action, the strap that I think could play, you know, cover the flight and also places safety. So there's some versatile guys in this great year for either position a corner safety, but it's deep enough where they could possibly get somebody there. So I would just, you know, spit balling kinda Dr throwing I would say those it's likely that they could be picking one of those three spots that eighty seven toys have you ever seen as I'm asking the question. I know we've all seen it. But have you? I was gonna ask you if you've seen the situation where teams running back like Jordan Howard performed relatively well and was light by many people. And but basically the head coach had no use form at this point. And that's why they ended up moving them. Yeah. I mean, obviously, totally different situation from what happened with Levy on bell. You know, those are the exceptions to the rule, but you know, it is one of those. Position where if you're not one of the elite top, you know, five or six guys in the league at your spot. You know, there's only so much teams willing to kind of sink into that dishing. I know that there have been back strapped in the top. You know, five ten picks several years, it's not gonna have this year. But it's happened. A lot in recent history or often more often than I would've expected. I know Todd Gurley got his big deal. I know other people have gotten pretty good money. That's dishing bell sign this off season. But there's a drop off, you know. And so I think if you're not special, you know, that maybe are deemed expendable depending on the system. And so you know, I can see both sides why they moved on. And I think they feel like with Mike Davis Torri Cohen, they add one more the draft. You know, maybe Ryan dollars trading Kampe preseason hero again or something like that. But you know, we'll see I think they will try to add at least one more. And then maybe an underrated free agent to add on top of that. Daryl. Patterson is. Is an interesting guy. But he's been an interesting guys come into the league. Other people have found out ways to use them and the patriots even lined him up in the backfield as a running back. Do you expect Matt Nagy to do that? Also, not only just swing passes and give them in and around and things like that. And also given the ball out of the running back position. Yeah. It's a great option. I think you know, the patriots really the first team to really unlocked at running ability. I mean like you said when he was in Oakland, you know, other places he was running those kind of gadget runs and things like that. But I mean, they line them up as a tailback and got buffalo game was it was crazy to watch. He had twenty something carries. And so, yeah, it was it was a strange thing to think about you know, a six to two hundred twenty pound receiver who could run like the wind lining up kind of power back. But he can do it. I think that really added to the appeal. He's the perfect Matt Nagy player. They'll run kick off, you know, he could be a wide receiver if you need to. I don't think he's more than. A number four. But still, you know, having that deeper out option is important. And I think that's you know, that kinda speed if Taylor Gabriel is out there, they may not have that exact replica that so it's different version of speed. And then as you said we saw last year that he can be running back, you know, in cut a break glass in case for -mergency situation. Seahawks quarterback. Russell Wilson wants a new deal. He gave the Seahawks April fifteenth as a deadline to get that deal done. Do you think he gets done in what type of deal? Do you think Russell Wilson who get from the Seahawks? So here's my hypothetical question here. Like what they let's say if April sixteenth by parents diversity, by the way. Let's. Let's say April sixteenth. They offer him. The richest TV deal of all time. You're gonna say oh sorry. The deadline. Hey, understand that this thing happened in January. We didn't really hear about it until very recently. But meeting his, you know, giving them a deadline, but you know, it just doesn't make a lot of stints. It's not a if something magical happens on that calendar day, not as some kind of contract, you know, bonus kicks in or anything else that would prevent them from getting this thing done, or if there's some kind of you know, league deadline or something like that. It's not July fifteenth and the franchise player, so it's just one of those kind of subtle threats from the from the Wilson camp saying, hey, don't forget about me, baby. You know, I still want to get my deal. I still want to get this thing done. You know, there's an opportunity for him to really cash in. And also kind of hold them hostage a little bit. I suspect it there's a good chance that gets done. But for months now there have been whispers that you know, maybe the Seahawks aren't quite prepared to pay him. What what a lot of people think he's worth it would at least entertain the idea of. What could we get you know, trade for him? Just theoretically, what would he get you know, is worth three first Thursay? We're still talking about a thirty thirty one year old guy. And there's still a handful of teams that really badly need that franchise different speaking quarterback. So I I don't know. I still think it's gonna get done 'cause that's city loves them. Even if a lot of past teammates were the biggest Russell Wilson fan. They know how much he means for the team another couple minutes with NFL writer, Eric at home and Erica week or so ago, rob gronkowski decided to retire. A lot of people on Twitter and everywhere else going, okay. The best tight end. Maybe you'll ever play the game has retired. Who's the best tight end in the NFL? Now who do you like? Yeah. I mean, that's a great question. To kinda depends what you want. So if you guys can do with grunk did which is being impact players blocker, and as receiver, you know. And and think about all the calls that were made against gronk over the years. He was kinda like the Cam Newton of the tight end position like say what that's not interference. Though, he just, you know, even with that work in Gascony was so special. I love the fact that Travis Kelsey can be as dangerous, you know, the last couple of years he's actually been a better receiver than gronk. No question about it. But he's not nearly the blocker that he is. You know, we see some of these young pass catching tight. I mean, George Kittle out in San Francisco at times has flashed like he could be the best to way tight in the league because he blocks his tail off. He's got great receiving chops. And really the only thing that's kind of held them back injuries. I don't necessarily think you can have a long career. So this might be one of those debate that we kinda have for years. I don't think there's any one guy that fills that checked off all the boxes like like gronk did. And he had injury issues too. But still when he was out there. There's really no doubt. And I don't know that that that one guy even though there are some great blockers. It's about staying receivers you rarely see both. Do you think that Jason Witten can still be productive? I don't know man this. I wanted to I know Jason Witten the player, it was outstanding. He was just so consistent day in and day. I knew what you're going to get from. He was probably, you know, he was unsexy version of gronk and that he could block and catch fast but a year off his age. I know they say they're going to come in just and all that. His feeling this thing could kind of turn south, and we could see 'cause he looked slow by the end when he was out there last time. He just wasn't the same guy. Eric, we appreciate jumping for few minutes. We'll hopefully those go to slow the next couple of weeks. We'll talk to you soon. All right. Enjoy the run up to the draft guys. Thanks. They got home jumping on talking NFL. Like Whitten wasn't good at the end. Then like fancy players, look like, wait. Hold on. Really? Like, what is she some Witten really gonna bring to the Cowboys? Here's a guy wanted to bring up to you. Because this is a guy that I thought when he got to the NFL was going to have a bigger impact than he's head and OJ Howard at the tight end. Okay. Because what we saw in college. We thought. Okay. The when this guy gets here Dowd using is just because the quarterback situation and the problems have had do you think he can still become a dominant tight end in this league? Maybe because he did it in college. And you assume that that body type in his speed is is ability to get down field. And you know, James Winstons been not very good. No. And I think a lot of people misread what Tampa Bay is doing. I don't think he's there for the long haul. I think Tampa Bay if they could find someone else to be their quarterback. They would go with that person. Yeah. So whether or not it's trying to find a quarterback in this year's draft. Or or or planning for the future? Elsewhere. But like I don't trust him as Winston do.

"And dolphins are five wins. So that's about right? I'll take the under with the Carl's. We'll take the under a special and. I don't care if his Josh Rosen whoever's at a quarterback, I just think that that's going to be a struggle. I love Larry FitzGerald, by the way, I love Larry FitzGerald, because here's a man, they're just comfortable his own scandal. Zona right. You know, every good football fan knows like Larry get outta there. Larry like a movie like a bad b movie on Saturday night. But man, you're on a you're a good player on a bad team can out of their layers. Like, no, I like Arizona, it's warm and I'm comfortable in my house houses here. Yeah. But you can't notes, okay? And that's that's really strange. I tell you one thing of Larry FitzGerald an NBA player. The hell out of there. I know that for sure I saw this. And I get a chance to talk about that this weekend because we got so much March madness and everything going on with Jordan Howard, man, we have been talking about Jordan Howard a lot here. This winter didn't we we speculated and a question Mark about it and Jordan Howard, finally traded to Philadelphia, and I see on Twitter and a couple other places on it on social media from John Howard that he expected to be traded and that just trade to Philadelphia. Apparently, he had some kind of insight before the trade took place that he was going to Philly, and it's like, wow. And so we can end this. Now, the conundrum the question like what could you get for Jordan Howard? Well, you can get a six round pick rejoin Howard. That's the question. How many licks does it take to get to the middle of a Tootsie? Roll pop. How many it takes a six round pick to get to the middle. That's what it was. Because we kept hearing. Jordan the third. Nah, no, not third fourth. Sixth round pick. And I will tell you that that has nothing to do with Jordan Howard being bad not a bad player. He just didn't fit. What Nagy want it? But as I told you when the season ended with the bears, and I'll keep saying this until we get to bourbon and through bourbon a until we get to the first game against the Green Bay Packers. Do not out dumb the room when it comes to the running game because with Mitch Trubisky. If you have any question marks about Mitchell Trubisky, the one thing that you can take solace. In is a good running game to help them out units. We might team an offensive league that you throw vertically down. The field are good running game also helps to be able to balance all that Trubisky is having a hard time. At least you can have someone you could depend on to run the football. Join Howard traded. Okay. Figure it out. I don't know of indie. Former Indiana coach Mike Davis is the answer. And I know that three Cohen is not also not the answer. I'm pretty clear on that dad player. Nice player, but not down in and down out. But if you're looking for someone that could be able to catch the football and really not just be part of a play. But really be a difference maker back there. I hope that you find it. Hope it's the right person. Hope is exactly what you're looking for Davis or through the draft or do Johnson. As we come to find out. Do Johnson says he wants to Cleveland, which is interesting figured out. If you don't think that the Detroit the traditional way of running the football between the tackles some on offense. Like, this is good enough fine. Then find the right guy find someone better than Jordan Howard. And I'm gonna tell you right now that guys on the roster is not. It out. Otherwise, did why'd you trade him. That's the whole question are I don't forget. We've got three pairs of tickets to the UFC championship doubleheader on Saturday June eighth at the United Center. I'm going to give those tickets away this hour, eight o'clock hour nine o'clock hour, if you wanna go stay you're listening to bison how you can win those tickets. Are we going to an endgame game report with Jesse coming up? Also, some thoughts about LeBron James. Oh, he's shutting it down. Oh, what a disaster. You're listening to my Manzano..

You don't get to say that very often. It was just either -tective, by the way. Just to detect. Four line Hankas areas with us here on ESPN radio. And we were talking about you not having fun on the set. What was something that you did that was the most fun was working with Robin Williams fun. Or was there a dark undercurrent on on birdcage because he he could spike back and forth personality? No that was incredibly fun, Robin Williams. He was amazing guy. He was he was often on the way, you think of Robin Williams like, but he would do it just for you like you'd be at the craft service table, grabbing a bagel and he's called Kathy be a boss. Would you do this weekend? Camping nothing, Robin. I went bowling Saturday. "I wonder if that was sent sentimentality is that a word. Yes. In terms of the people voting like if I if I said to you if I rewarded the question, and I said. How did you word it? Where did it are you satisfied? Are you saying the bears Jordan Howard trade now? Hey, are you happy or do you live just are you satisfied? How much of it was that? You only got a sixth round pick in two thousand and twenty how much of a lot. I would say the the other question to me would be. Do you agree with the bears decision to trae Jordan Howard? So take compensation out of the equation. A lot of people. Remember when we first opened this discussion before we knew what compensation would be in. We were sort of shaping it at best fifth most likely two three. Yeah. Like people thought how how dare you guys even mentioned this Jordan Howard, rush for thirty three hundred yards is going to get a lot more. There's twenty four touchdowns there. But again, the worth in the value that he has right now in NFL landscapes was not much more than a conditional fat. Do you know how much your house is worth? Whatever someone's willing to pay for it. That's how much it's worth right? Martine greco. Absolutely, correct. What are you talking about Jordan Howard? Hey, who cares? I just walk in Dalla goes, hey, Jordan, Howard all day all night every everybody's upset. And I'm like you knew it was common. Yeah. Hey, good guy. Sixty percent of bears fans say they're unsatisfied with with the trade. But again, I would suggest that a large portion of the people that said, yes, I'm on satisfied. Those people didn't think the bears got enough in return not that he doesn't fit the system or whatever. I understand that. But I think the wildcard here is Mike Davis. Nobody knows anything about him. Cordeiro Patterson so much more versatile fits, Matt Nagy style. Lot of gimmick plays all kinds of stuff like Jordan Howard. Give him the ball. Boom. Leans forward. Straight ahead. Running three three point seven yards later. I mean, what are you got? Yeah. And you know, Kyle long once again the classiest human on earth. Yeah. Of course after you. The eagles. You're gonna love him. Great, dude. You know, he didn't have to text anything or tweet anything. But he always does need. I love that. He's smart guy. Why don't think it's calculators just it's natural to him and his brother and his dad. Good families, a tremendous leader. Yes. He is. I didn't listen. This was this was exactly what we thought that the bears would go to the two thousand nineteen training camp without Jordan Howard. And that a deal would be made. And it wouldn't bring back nearly as much as some people were hoping for and expecting because the market is really soft. And it's weird. You're not gonna get a lot especially for a player who's kind of one dimensional. I said in this offense, he made them more predictable and less explosive. That's a good analogy averaged three point seven yards bears. Yeah. So this is what I said too. Silly Sylvie earlier silly till the early. All the people that are really disappointed. I'm going to just take the name off the back of the jersey player X. Okay. Average is three point seven yards per carry in his most recent season in the NFL. He's really one dimensional because not a great receiver. When he's on the field. You're more predictable. And you're less explosive. Do you have a problem with your favorite team, replacing player X? No, I do not. But you're not even saying the main part while he's also dropped five point two yards per attempt. Three point seven. He's consistently dropping GM's around the NFL saw this. I'm like, I'm not giving you anything. Know it's just in his defense. He really worked on trying to catch the flowing. He was. Better in the first half of the season. Look, I I mean, I have an appreciation for what what Jordan Howard? Did. He was productive here. This not a bash Jordan Howard exercise. This is a square peg round hole. Thank you kind of what it is. If the bears spent and they have a running back need a fifth or sixth round pick and a guy with only one year left, and who average three point yards precarious, you feel I would be upset. You're a fifth or sixth round pick. We need all the pictures. We can get. So I look at it. We signed Mike Davis upside a young and you gotta draft pick back for Jordan Howard right now. You'll probably draft a guy in like the fourth or fifth row, of course. And once again, you can get a good running back down there. Unfortunately for running backs they're not premier players. Now, you know, you can plug him in there replaceable parts, so what's the conditional part of? It's a six round pick could be a fifth that depend on. He's got a rushed for three thousand yards. What I say. Nine point three one hundred and fifty. Right. Oh, man. You don't wanna talk baseball and y'all. Yes, we do. Yeah. By the way, shout out to Mr. black the other day and Capshaw Chris black driving Kaplan out of his mind. Here's a guy who described opening day so perfectly the analogy was right on it was a millennial take. But as an ADD baby-boomer, I relate to that. I get it. He said opening days like being a little kid at the first day of school new shoes new backpack. New lunch pail new teacher. They probably painted the hallways in the school. Everything's great. You see the kids have always in school? Because I always did. And you just you know paid. Yeah. Just what happened to me? And so you're all excited and everything and then the next day ago. Wow. It's going to be a grind. Days. That was the perfect description. Of course, Kaplan went out of his mind because he paints himself has this baseball purist and loves the game. The fact of the matter is it is now third behind the NBA. And I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL overtakes popularity they've got some major issue. You just described you doing the five and then having all the other shows to do. Really cool. Five. Yeah. Tonight for the may the mayoral run off. Right. So you put a show together. And you sit there in the corner and then at midnight, they go. Oh, yeah. Free. Go home. God see I love baseball. And I grew up going to opening day with my mom. My mom would take me out of school to me. I love football opening day parent. I know I love it. Cool. It's more about we're gonna flunk anyway. Exactly. Tradition. I would have gotten in trouble. Yes. It's a tradition. It's family. It's Representative that we've got this spring and summer ahead of us. It's glory. But then it's like like like Blake said, it's the grind football. When the bears Packers get here on Thursday night. Do you know how much more meaningful that is? Yes, appears game against the Packers Kirsty night national TV the winner the loss of that game. And how much more important that is than cubs and Rangers or royals and White Sox was growing up. We had a minor league team. We didn't have major league baseball. And no one would ever go to the rockpile war memorial stadium because you get beat up and the players had their cars stolen, the bills game. That's what they were the same stadium. So the bison would play there, and they actually moved the turnstiles in the players would drive their cars into the concourse because the first few opening days, you come out your car washes, grow stereo, I grew up in a rough city. Did they really are you making this? They really put the. Concours because a couple players had their cars vandalized, and stolen. So, but then we go, and then the mayor Jimmy Griffin is just a big drunk, and he would walk around and wave to all the fans and there'd be like fifty people. And he he just be hammered and Griffin doesn't sound like the guy that would be the mayor of your town in buffalo. Are you see you're either Irish polish Italian, and you took turns being the fire chief of police chief and the mayor. So if you've got an Irish mayor than the police chiefs Italian and the fire chiefs side, you just polish, and then you just rotate it he had to do that. You're one of a kind. Yeah. And so yeah, it was it was not a big event. You know, speaking of mayors we didn't get to what to watch for today. And Pat Boyle recommended this to me, and I watched it two nights ago. I wanna say. The new do still watch real sports with Bryant Gumbel. I just watched the one with David Ferte last night. That's so it's fair. Oh my God. Issues. I I knew for a guy being that funny in that creative. You know, most end up comedians have a lot of darkness in their lives. And then that's how they cope, and I had no idea it was to that extreme with David Ferte and hit his son to son OD on cocaine and alcohol, and he had a lot of issues addictive issues and David felt guilty about passing that on. And then he wasn't there for him. You know, this was one of his children from his first marriage. His second wife saved him. You know, it's it's a story. You hear all the time. But you know, it was very powerful. And it just endeared me to him more. I love him even more and he fell off the wagon after being cleaned for ten years. Now, he's now he's back to rehabilitating himself. But he's had it rough it as funny and his fun as you see him. He does like twelve stand up tours. And in addition to all the golf that. He does right now. These always on the road and everything else. But man, he's such a good episode. Did you watch the Manny Diaz story? No. I didn't see that. Right. So many as is the head football coach at Miami. He he remember he was defensive coordinator under Mark richt. He accepted the head coaching job at temple. Then Mark richt all of a sudden retires. And then they go back, and they get many as a month later, and he returns home. He was he his father was the mayor of Miami. And I didn't know that. And Manny Diaz started out as a PA production assistant at ESPN. No kidding. I know that and the reporter went why am I drawing a blank right now from real sports who used to work at ESPN. Very famous reporter used to be stationed here in Chicago real I'm blanking to I don't know you guys know in there. No. But anyway, he was left. He's gone from you guys will guys say, oh, of course. Andrea andrea. He was Andrea Kramer's PA. She does this story about him. Now, John his father and like him and his father never lived together. But because they were divorced him and his mom, the mom and the. Data were divorced. But now and he had to move back from being in Philly a temple to back to Miami. He lived again with his dad for the first time in on time. And Manny Diaz was the production assistant for Andrew criminal. Who's doing the story? He kept Christmas. Sax. She wants bought him when he was a PA very shows the old resume tape. Manny Diaz if you have you gotta watch real sports. There are so many. They're always feature four stories. Three of them are outstanding last week. That's fantastic. What for but really good stuff? Yeah. So I want to know what else you got planned for the weekend. We gotta take a break though. I it's all brought to you by Chicago steakhouse go over there and have yourself Dover sole. It is it's probably on your. A late night tonight. Went over there. Slam down a few dirty MARTINI. See how the ten go. Yeah. That'd be my last show there. There's some good Frank Thomas stuff to get to. He's he was on today. Some controversial. It was a it was a controversial story wasn't it up dollar. I mean, I don't know how much controversy there is it's about like it's about a Jackie. So denied something that Ron darling house put out there about Frank today. Thing was Ron darling..

"But I like this move. All right moving on Chicago Bears traded running back, Jordan Howard. He's back to back thousand thousand. Thousand yard seasons to the eagles who were woeful in the running game last season. Are you taking shaking it? I'm taking it. I think it's a good deal for the eagles. Because I think Jordan Howard's a pretty good back. Like, you said they need help right there. The bears have another guy that they can use Cohen. So they've got some death at that position. That this is I think a really good. The the eagles are good. If course interesting to see with they're gonna look like if he can get through an entire season. The last two years he has had the whole thing blow up on him sometime around November. So if he can stay right and you get another weapon they have the the weapons outside. They have that tight end in Erz if they running back can get going. That's a really good team. I like that one. All right. I got to chasing a running back for years years years since Brian Westbrook. He honestly the trade Miami. What was his name running back last year giant dike J J it die. They had like giant giant die his brother. Yeah. They had blunt for a half a second. He was but he was probably passes expiration date by the time. He came through Philly. They're just they haven't been able to Chris rights Westbrook. All right. And finally the Cowboys Rogers team his version of America's team acquired defensive and Robert Quinn from the Miami Dolphins. Are you taking it who are you shaking? It's a the dolphins. Get a twenty twenty six round picking change for it. I'll shake it. Because Robert Quinn, I saw to fifty seven and had a massive season with the Rams few years ago. Had twenty sacks. He was a really good football player. But seeing his last year here in L A before the Rams let him go year ago and he went to Miami. He if it was over and not that he can't have a game here or there. But the days of Robert Quinn being an impact player on that defensive end position. I think are long gone. I don't think that he brings anything that team. I know it didn't cost much twenty six round pick. Yeah. Again, the cost. I'm not worried about that. They gave up too much to get them. I don't think he's going to bring anything your football team. I would I would rather take a flyer on a sixth round guy and see if maybe I can catch lightning in a bottle because I think Robert Quinn at this point. Is it is what it is. And it's not that much. All right last one, nNcholas cage. Got divorced. Try to try to shake it. And then he said, no, you can't take it. I love that. He's exasperated in his wedding photos. Like, I'm over this hands on hips is closed. She's got our hands in his face. And you can just imagine and face off wasn't even that good for Johnson. Guys feel like I mean pay Mary multiple times. Why do you feel the need to be married? Just just be you. You know, be out there man, go do you be have as many girlfriends in partners as you want to have with the idea of I have to have some sort of legally binding agreement with you a government sanctioned relationship. I don't understand why you have to do it like that. I'm with you rush or Greg. She I don't says about faith, well, and nNcholas cage going if it was about faith and family. I don't think you're on marriage number four typically thirty nine at the Balaj getting married. That's for sure. It seems like a bad deal. Once I get it everybody, you're young you get it didn't work out go again. But once you're hundred three and four maybe this isn't for you, just go on dates toasty. This is it. Yeah. I got divorced. Once extenuating circumstances. That qualified apparently like women quite the way. I thought I did. No. You know, this is this is a tune, this is it if it works it works, and if it doesn't then I probably won't get remarried saints marriage number one like in a way, not according to my Bank account. Number two, according to law pay..

"He was already here when he got here. So he probably tried to use them. It's not like Matt Nagy trying to lose and have matinee and if Jordan Howard would he give them an opportunity to win. He wouldn't have used them. Just a spike Jordan Howard Matt's coming from a fast twitch offense as well. Now, I know the Kareem hunt when he was with Kansas City. Didn't have a great forty time. When he went to. Combines probably the reason why lasted fared rounding also played a smaller school but put the tape on of Kareem hunt. I mean, that's quick twitch. That's explosion. Tyreek hill. Quick twitch explosion Kelsey as a tight end quick twitch explosion the they play the game at a really high tempo. And Jordan doesn't do that. Again. I'll say t for the tenth time player acts averages three point seven yards per carry their wildly predictable. When he's in the game. He lacks explosiveness and. He doesn't catch the ball. Well, how much will you miss not not the personality? Not the good teammate. How much will you miss that particular players skillset summed up? Well, Stephen in high park, you're on ESPN one thousand eight Stephen doing guy. We're good. I've been listening to the comments you guys were thinking about doing Howard fictitious saying about the three point seven yards and not being able to catch the ball in not being. I believe that. That is the biggest reason why they traded back. Maggie for me is spoken, and he will be able to utilize that particular skill set based upon the other statistic that you guys mentioned about the seventy thousand three years thirty four hundred yards. He has some potential, but I believe he called. Amac nagy. That's why they didn't go through them as much because even in a playoff game. It was tied. If they can utilize them stretches, even as a decoy, but they did. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, I think. Even three colon four touches in the playoff game. I mean, only four right? Didn't have any touches in the second half of the Matt Nagy called game. I'm not sitting here and telling you that there is no risk involved. Because maggie's in charge. I'm just saying that listen you've trusted him to take over your team. Why wouldn't you trust him to tell you what fits best in his offense? Yeah. A lot of people talking bears the bears made the trade yesterday. If you wanna weigh in are you okay with the Jordan Howard train? I guess you will never be overjoyed because he was a productive player. But the way Waddell has summed it up for you. And being on his last year of a deal. Do you understand what they're doing three one two three three two three seven seven six wall. So talk to Dave revson coming up three and Watteau believes. There was a team that totally got screwed yesterday. He'll tell you about that coming up next Waddle and.

"This really helps the eagles for not much at all. From the bears perspective not that they were going to cut Jordan Howard. But. What did ask themselves is do we pay him? To be a guy who seems to be fading in relevance. And he's due to make two million dollars this year. In the final year of his contract. See one of the things they did back in two thousand eleven. In that fourth year. Instead of the minimum salary because usually how it goes is for everybody after round one. There are rookie minimum salaries that that increase based upon your years of service, and you get a signing bonus. That's based on where you're specifically drafted. But that's how it works. You get the same salaries for the four years from two through seven, but you're signing bonus varies based upon how high or low you're drafted. But there's a device in there that gets you. If you meet certain thresholds. It gets you paid more in that fourth year. So the bears we're looking at two point two five million for Jordan Howard this year. Just decided no we don't want to do that. We don't want to pay two million for a guy that doesn't really fit what we're doing. And we use to Rico, and and we can go draft a guy. In the mid to late rounds or undrafted in pay him a lot less. It's a basic business decision. The problem is Jordan Howard was a guy who resonated with bears fans. And anytime there's a guy who's rushing for more than a thousand yards in a season scoring touchdowns and and becoming a fantasy football darling. That's the kind of thing that makes it hard for a teams fan base to move on. It's easier for the team to move on..

"We are live from the first midwest Bank studios. We are here till eight o'clock we're open for business and your phone calls on the Chicago Bears at three one two three three two three seven seven six or you can tweet at us. Actress blacker outta may Abdullah of dollars. Currently fighting off a swarm of trolls on Twitter who think that Jordan Howard should be here next season. He has the takes that are the hottest Jordan Howard needs to be gone from the Chicago Bears reason because of that Chris we update the news here. Mike day the bear sign rookie running backs Mike Davis. He was in Seattle for the last two years before that he was in San Francisco for two years. He is twenty six years old. He just turned twenty six years old and he played in fifteen games last season had one hundred twelve. Russia's for five hundred and fourteen yards. More importantly, he caught the ball thirty four times per two hundred and fourteen yards on forty two attempts. So he's running back. He's younger he's a little bit older than Jordan Howard. But he doesn't have as many miles on his body as Jordan Howard does. He can catch the ball. He can run. Well, ultimately, it looks like Jordan Howard is going to be on his way out. Now, they could still keep Jordan Howard because they gave Mike Davis a two year. Six million dollar guaranteed deals who's getting three million dollars a year. But ultimately, it looks like Jordan Howard is going to be on his way out and people don't like that. Because they probably purchase the Jordan Howard jersey. And don't know what to do with it up. Hold up you saying that he's likely on his way out is you speculating on that, of course, me and the rest of every bears reporter national media person ever. I'm not just saying, okay. Because I think he's out who's your number one as a running back for the Chicago Bears because Mike Davis is not number one Torri Cohen, not a number one. Benny Cunningham, not a number one. They wanted without a number one last year. But you're you're gonna drafter number one running back. They won the division without a number one last year with a running back by committee. Mike Davis to me is a better version of Jordan Howard wall. Really? That's what you're going with. He can catch. Canny, okay. He can catch. But he's not a better runner. You don't know that he hasn't had the opportunity last season one hundred twelve Russia's for five hundred and fourteen yards. Four touchdowns. A four point six average last season out of the backfield receiving the ball. He had forty two targets thirty four receptions, one touchdown one running back at three point seven yards per attempt and one running back had four point six yards per attempt, which one do you want? The one the one more the one with more the one with more Mike Davis, not Jordan Howard. That's the one. You're you're going to die on the hill. Saying that Mike Davis is going to be a better rang. Backman, Jordan Howard. I'm going to die on the hill. That says Mike Davis fits Matt Nagy system better. And if everybody in the city trust the guy that turns to determine the bears around and won all these games, the offensive master, the leader of club dub. It is system though, because he can't be caught the ball earlier in the year when they're throwing it to him. Okay. And maybe while they're in practice or whatever he stopped being able to catch the ball their stuff. We don't see I have a feeling that. If Matt Nagy found a player that he he would use him. I wanna win game. You would hope you would think that the the coach of the bears who's trying to win games in his first year wouldn't coach in spite? Okay. And it's not just like, I don't like you think it's a little weird can't fit them into the system. Chris. There are people that call this let last hour that said that Nagy doesn't like Jordan Howard. That's thing. You think he's a good running back? He's a productive back, but you won't use them. Well, there's probably a reason they didn't they didn't use them last year in sixteen games to earn. Fifty carries nine hundred thirty four yards. Three point seven average nine touchdowns out of the backfield. Receiving he had twenty receptions, only twenty seven times was he targeted out of the backfield. Okay. And Mike Davis was targeted. Thirty forty two times caught the ball thirty four times for two hundred and fourteen yards. He averages four point six yards per carry. He has less miles on if you look at the amount of of yards that Jordan Howard has run. Mike Davis is run a fraction of those yards. Now, we are spending a lot of time on Jordan Howard. Yes. But the more impactful signing for the Chicago Bears. This evening is probably the NFL network reporting that the bears are signing. Former jets cornerback BUSTER screen sources tell Mike Garoppolo that means that Bryce Callahan is probably out from Chicago in Rappaport follows up with the deal numbers. Three year deal worth sixteen point five million eight point five million guaranteed for BUSTER screen. So he will be your corner back. He'll be your Nickelback in the backfield for the Chicago Bears. This year in 'em means that Bryce Catalans probably gonna I thought Kellyanne was the most important person to resign this off season. Yeah. And ultimately, that's what people are saying. Callahan is to be. Buster screen fifty eight tackles last year. Eight pass deflections four tackles for loss two quarterback hits. So he's he's been very productive. He's going to be thirty. And when the when the season starts, so he's he's up there in age. But ultimately, this is a guy who Matt Nagy had talked about earlier in the year. He talked about him in October. He said he's one of the better Nichols. In this league. If not the best I mean, he's good. He's a good nickel in there. So he's he's a very good player. He's a very tough player by if the the market that we're seeing for corners and safeties is as high as it is. They might have not been able to afford Bryce Callahan. Well, right. And what we've seen is. Tyron Matthew signs, a three year deal for forty two million dollars with the Kansas City Chiefs tonight, we saw Landon Collins signed with the Redskins earlier today. The money is going to be huge Frazier name owes. So it was a good chance based on what we've seen signed players signing. Elsewhere already tonight that Amos is not going to re signed with the Chicago Bears either because he's going to get top dollar from someone. Yeah. Ultimately, Bryce Callahan might as well. So I don't see a Bryce Callahan truth is out there. But you you think that the the defense is in a good place right now, they've got new new coordinator Chuck Pagano coming in. But you still have your main pieces. Are there you still have Khalil Mack? You still have a Akeem Hicks. You still have any Goldman. You still have any Jackson. You still have a lot of a lot of guys that are there koffler still there. So you still have a lot of guys in that defense that are you you're gonna have a little bit of turnover every single year. But if you find guys like BUSTER screened and make up for that turnover. I think that the bears will be okay. This looks like he looks like a player who's tough will fit the system and ultimately be a good signing for the bears the bears also resigned, Ben Broncos. So there's as you get Ben Brown occur. Mike Davis running back in BUSTER screen. The cornerback all signing with the Chicago Bears on day one the official signing period doesn't start until Wednesday. For free agency in the NFL. But that's who the bears have bears fans. Are you happy with this? Do you like the way they're approaching free agency? You can call us at three one two three three two three seven seven six Aaron onto ninety four kicks off this hour. What's up Aaron? Hey, guys Abdala. I gotta agree with you one hundred percent about Jordan Howard. Listen you brought in to revolutionize the offense. And Howard does not fit that. That's okay. Eka the white John FOX and reconsider twenty points a game or. The people that they call in and say how our needs to get going. No, the only people that need to girly partly the guys who actually dynamic and can touch the ball out of the backfield and make big plays. George Howard just doesn't fit that. And that's okay. But it's totally okay. To move on and get a guy back there. You can touch the ball of the backfield and run for more than three yards per carry. Thanks for the call earn. Yeah. And look they only put fifteen points in their loss to the eagles. Listen the playoff you'll at the playoff game. You got score more points. I'm not blaming Jordan Howard. I would specifically look at the quarterback. Specifically look at the first three quarters of agree with you. But there's a reason he only carried the ball ten times for thirty five yards. Let's go to Karl and displayed on ESPN one thousand he called three one two three three two three seven seven six. Carl. What's going on, man? That's me. Hello, Carl Carl. Hey. Paul and I'm hearing. But the bottom line is consider this. And I'm and I'm a big fan of keeping Jordan our love the scientific way and here. It is mercury Morris. Jan kick. Larry czanka. That's the threesome it doesn't precisely mirror. What the what the bears have? But that's what you need to have in place. And so from injury et cetera. A.

"I'm Jordan Howard Chan then like I'm one of his biggest fans and just I can see the difference up in the minds of what he. Thinking about long-term is that's one of the areas that I look at the see which direction. Do they go there? They're all sorts of wine is sold up. You got all the guys coming back to sensitively. I mean, there's computers. Odd, man. I think their biggest issue still be staying healthy. The major keys number ten to those guys have to stay healthy if they can stay healthy it gives this team. An added bonus to really not only get to the postseason hopefully being Miami next year represented the NFC you like to Chuck Pagano hire new defensive coordinator taken over for Vic come on, man. Come on. Question. We know. That's my guy. Yeah. He's he's he's a under the old, man. And I had the the honor to coach by him. When I was at the university of Miami. Ninety two thousand and after my dad passed it was one of the big big reasons why when I came back to thirteen checking my dad passed I didn't really wanna play. But I wanted to be around my team that I know that Donald telling me that special teams guy, he told me he wants you to return kicks. And I was like I don't know if I'm ready for that I've ever conversation within like, listen, we need you. And I know you're ready. That was one of the big pushes. It got eat that he is. He's a motivated talking with Ed Reed. Couple of winter go when the higher happen. I asked her about what one word that describes took a teacher. I think that's one thing that's going to go a long way with these guys. I so worried, but you have all the talent coaches gotta put you on a right position Vic Fangio and always have these guys in the perfect position plagues man he had salts as well. But it's how you overcome that. And I think there's anybody that really take these defense and keep this thing going the way that it's supposed to be doing in the direction, it's going, it's Pagano. And and also for Matt Nagy to have a former head coach around to be able to bounce ideas. Also, then other things the second year head coach, I think Donald is going not only being just so valuable as defensive coordinator. But also as a sounding board. You got me fired up Jared. I'm ready for the football season. It cannot come listening. It can do what I do. What you need to do is sit back and relax Udo of baseball coming through soon. Then. So just sit with lax with these guys is football players get rehab in lecture older bodies, all good. And we'll be back in football. No time. "Whether it's third and two in there in Detroit your backup quarterback is starting chase Daniel's on the field. And they gave it on a quarterback keeper a fake. What was that the thick option? And chased it calibrate was was one hit away from coming in instead of giving it to Jordan Howard at thirty two. They go chase. The first down you pick up the first down running the football. How many times of their run trick plays all these things? And they just don't give it to join our thirty to Jordan Howard for whatever reason Jordan Howard question yesterday. It was all you need to know what they were talking just lost over him. We were talking about before the regular season kicked off whether. Or not they would trade Jordan. Yeah. It was not meant to be disrespectful. It's look look you've got square peg round hole care. You've got a player who's skill set doesn't really fit what they're trying to do. They look. He's built a tremendous amount of equity in a short period of time. His message has been great he's handled himself with class and dignity and they've had success. A lot of that. You know? I mean, this is where you have to evaluate it measure it as well. I mean, a lot of that goes, let's just say things don't go your way next year. And you don't go twelve and four you don't get back to the postseason you sign him. And he doesn't have the effect that you wanted him to or he may have a transgression all of that goodwill. That is built up goes away really quickly. So I'm not suggesting that all of that would have on just telling you, if I'm Matt Nagy, that's on my mind running running backs on like defensive ends or or or Outside Linebackers, but I will say this, and I don't know the answer to it. 'cause I'm not an expert in this. But if they say, we can a Khalil Mack type impact player at running back for the fit of this often. He led the league in rushing. He catches the ball. We've coached him before that this is where we could be a player or two away. And we believe this. Guy is the fit it makes it that much tougher. Well, this debate, and this isn't even a conversation in my opinion, if there are seven and nineteen this is a conversation. Yeah. This is a conversation brink because. Yes, there are winning foot. That's reality. There are winning football. Yes. So the asked the question yesterday via a web poll. Yeah. I. Exactly how you should be. It's gonna expire here shortly about whether or not be upset. Would you be upset with the bears? If they it about proximity. Seventy seventy percent said no they wouldn't be upset. Thirty percent. I'm willing to bet you that. If they weren't a twelve and four football team. There's a good chance at those results would have been flipped. Maybe I mean you in a sweet spot right now. Everyone's feeling great about the team. Everyone's getting the benefit of the doubt for good reason. They've built the equity in a short period of time. So that we'll see there's leftover that there's leftover parkey staff were Machado watch for the White Sox. It's killing me. We'll talk some bulls. Did a Maliki is gonna join us where commercial free in the four o'clock hour, and we'll give away six more squares..
