"It didn't really love what I saw from Jeremy roach last year, although certainly he has a high level prospect billing. I mean, Trevor keels. I just haven't seen enough of Trevor keels beyond knowing that he's like the second coming of levance fields. Is like the big, the big thick guard that's probably gonna be around college basketball for a little while. I don't know. Is this like a better perimeter defensive team than they were in 2020 when they had TRE Jones who was awesome on that end? I think he won defensive player of the year in the league that year, and they'd cash a Stanley who could weigh overplay everything. They Jordan goldwire, who played a lot because he was really good defensively. I don't know. I think this team just has a lot of questions that and plus like, what do they get from AJ Griffin? I don't think we have any answers there yet. It's just a weird, it's a weird deal with duke that I don't really know totally how to handle them yet. Yeah, I mean, I'm just kind of buying into the idea that Jeremy Roche, I'm giving all of the freshmen that I kind of had high hopes for coming into last season, a complete pass on what the freshman year was for all of the reasons that we mentioned at the top. Just because, you know, he did not have a chance to get to know his teammates in the office and duke was as strict as any team in the country when it came to COVID protocols and isolation and making sure that you followed the rules and they were living in hotels. It was not fun to be a duke basketball player last year. And I think that we are going to see him have a little bit more of a chance to kind of show who he is. This year. So I'm willing to kind of buy in, even though I agree with everything you said about him last season, but I'm willing to kind of give that a little bit of a pass and buy into it. I think we'll know pretty early, though. You know, I think we're going to know on Tuesday night. Whether or not the concerns are valid. But I get everything you're saying and I agree with it. If we get the top of the like I said top of the range of outcomes for AJ Griffin, Wendell Moore, Jeremy Roche, Joey baker. That's a lot of ifs, but it's all things that I think are very possible to have happen. And if it doesn't work out, you still got Paolo. That dude's gonna make a lot of problems go away. Yeah, I think the way I would put it is can they win a title? Yes. I don't think they would be a favorite for me. Coming into the year. The rest of the ACC, I don't know, it feels like the ACC is kind of down in terms of talent this year to me. I have no first round prospects in the ACC outside of duke right now. Duke's the only team in the top 20 in Ken palm for the ACC this year and they're ranked ten in the preseason. Does this feel like a bit of a down ACC to you as well? Yeah, yeah. 100%. I think that there are a lot of teams that are kind of in that back end top 25 range..

"You're not wrong, man. It's insane. I feel like you find out whether you get to live or die on death row more quickly than you can find out. I think the lesson is if you're on death row, you'd actually prefer to have the NCA ruling over your case here, because they might just take forever. I'll just take that deal instead. You just die of old age at 89. You take that trade off instantly there. So we're waiting on that, although, by the way, you know, of course, Kansas waiting. But Kansas, I don't expect with the IAR P, I don't expect Kansas to have a ruling before the end of the season. Oklahoma state, I very, very much do. So I put OSU there and in Texas tech right below, we'll see how Mark Adams is going to do GP. He was the face of the defense. You know, I made this comparison in my one to three 58, although Chris beard and Mark Adams got along much better than Mike Ditka buddy Ryan did on the 85 bears. You're damn right, I'm invoking a bear's reference here. But whereas buddy Ryan was in charge of solely the defense on that bears team, and that's what made the Chicago Bears of the mid 80s so great. Adams was similar with the way that he approached Texas tech's defensive unit and he had a lot to do with how great Texas tech was. It wasn't all Chris beard. They get Terence Shan junior back. That's big. Kevin McCullough back. That's another double digit score. Marco Santo Silva. He was really a top 20 rebounder in America when you look at the rebound rates from last season. So they're back. They lost some key pieces, but they bring in Kevin o' banner from oral Roberts, who was an 18 and 9 guy and because max a Smith led the nation scoring and was a big time points producer. Oh, by the way, a banner shot 46% from three as a stretch forward and he was an 87.5% foul shooter. So you got him, Bryson Williams from Utah, 15 and 7 guy. Malik Wilson from Louisiana, averaged 13 points, 5 and a half boards, three assists, and two steels. So there's actually dudes on this roster. You're going to probably wind up being closer than I am on this because I got Texas tech right around that 40 range. They're probably going to outperform where I've gotten, but I just want to see what they do with the new coach there. So I got those two schools ahead of the likes of West Virginia and Oklahoma. Yeah, like, you know, they lose some pieces like you said, two of the top four that's Matt mcluhan and Tyler Edwards, they also lose Chris beard. They've got a new coach. I believe Mark Adam's gonna be able to do this job well. But you know, like I've said about other assistant coaches who are promoted. You know, you never know for sure. But I'm optimistic. That's why I have them finishing fourth in the big 12. So they return for the top 6. And when you've got a core of Terrence Shannon Kevin McCullough, Marcus Santa Silva and Kevin banner, that's a pretty good core for a college basketball team and a banner. It wasn't just like empty stats, either. Yeah, he was 19. He was 18.7 points 9.6 rebounds per game for the season. He put 30 on Ohio State in a win in the insulator. He put 28 on Florida in the NCA tournament. And that 46.3 sometimes he's three point percentages for frontcourt players can be misleading because it's like, oh, we made 46% of one per game. He took 4.3 per game. He's a real shooter. And that free throw percentage underlines it. So I like this Texas tech team. I'm torn between Oklahoma state Texas tech four 5, but to me, it is clearly those two four 5 and then we can start talking about everybody else. Yeah, a final tool nibble on here as we get out is West Virginia, Oklahoma. I think they're basically interchangeable. Huggin centers what's going to be as 40th season with 900 wins to his name. He's got cash Sherman and Sean McNeil. They'll probably combine for like 28, 29 a game. They're the one two there. Good. Jalen bridges needs to be a breakout player as a sophomore. We'll see Oklahoma with Porter Moser. He was the hot name. Multiple times, and this is where he lands. He keeps the emoji Gibson Elijah harkless on the roster, which is what I think will put the sooners in the tournament conversation right near the bubble cut line, getting those guys back was huge. Also got the groves brothers. Remember Tanner was the lovable big dude who almost helped knock out Kansas in the first round. He was the big guy player of the year, 17 and 8 guy. Scottish younger brother Jacob there. They also bring in duke transfer Jordan goldwire, who I think will just help stiffen up the defense. Moser had a way of really developing a very, very good defensive unit at the mid major level. I think Oklahoma, if it's going to be a tournament team, it's got to be a top four defense in the big 12 and year one. I think they'll have a good chance. But because you got a coaching change in there and not quite as much roster continuity, I'll go WVU at 6 Oklahoma at 7. Yeah, that's right. I'm gonna trust bob Hawkins. When they had deuce McBride on the fence for a little while, is he staying? Is he going? I think I always had it projected in the top 25 and one. Or at least at some point before he officially announced I projected. That he was going to go. And he went. And that's a big blow. I think West Virginia with him back is preseason top 25. And West Virginia without him back is probably, you know, at least on paper at best, 6th in the big 12. Now, it doesn't mean you can't be in the instability tournament, but losing a player of that caliber who is very much a could stay could reasonably stay could reasonably go. The reason I frame it phrase it like that is because, you know, like what Kate Cunningham, there is no choice. You know, it's not like he can reasonably stay your go..

"Virginia. Why do you think I have picked a third team that I'm really excited about? I would pick Baylor and maybe Oklahoma state in terms of depth and talent. Yeah. What makes you Jay think that West Virginia, when they lose dudes and they lose culvert, what makes you think that they have a chance to be that next team? It's not Seth a thing where I'll list a bunch of players, so they got this this, this and this. It's more huggins, you know, like how many times have we talked about West Virginia? Well, you know, they lost this guy lost that guy. They're going to take a step back. And the next year, they came in and they were tougher and sometimes when West Virginia had more firepower, I haven't felt as good about them. And to me, when they get when they're Gritty and rebound and defend and make things really difficult, I usually like watching them better and I don't know. Bob huggins is a Hall of Famer. He's gonna be in there in the next when. The next next few years, I think. Because I think he's one of the best coaches I've ever watched. And he's an extraordinary person. I love being around him because he always keeps you on edge in one way or another. But amazing personality, but man, that dude can coach anything. You put him. If you were a swim coach, they would hear him underwater and swim faster. With West Virginia, I think a lot of it is going to depend on the health of I say, I could trail 16, two 40, pleased with this back to the basket towards Achilles tendon. I think it would be summer of last year and sometimes for bigs. That could be it can take a little while longer for you to get back to the place that you were, but for that team to take that next step, even with all of the players that they've lost, but I love ty Sherman through the flat out score. If portrayal is healthy, I agree with you that they can be in the top four of the big 12. Angry. This is a podcast, not a forever cast. Our movie Kelly is going to be that I'm going to give you to laugh and give you the last thing. I think balance can be just fine. James, Kendall. Yeah. He's going to be a perfect fit right there. We know that but finds his favorite player Matt Meyer. Let's go Matt Myers. That's this guy. I mean, he's going to score 8000 shots. Adam Flynn going they're not going anywhere. I mean, and I think Oklahoma state, there's going to be life after case. I really believe that I think that that team is deep and athletic, you know, they've got the cow boon kit. I think it's going to have a breakout here. I love is it likely just because it's toughness. I think the big 12 is going to be absolute, even though we say it's not as good as maybe it's been in the past. I think they're going to they're going to have a minimum of 5, maybe 60s and tournament. No question. And then, and plus, I mean, you know, they've got to take 68 teams, the power 5 are going to get a ton of teams in no matter what. But Porter mosers taken over at Oklahoma when lawn Kruger retired. He's got your mocha Gibson coming back and then Jordan goldwire transferred in from duke so gives him some defense at the point of attack. I think it's going to be really fun to watch how he builds that thing. Because I don't think they're going to be great this year. I don't think they're a tournament team. But watching how he builds it and how he brings those principles from Loyola all that Rick majer stuff. I think it will be really fun to watch..

"Well, I guess what I would ask you is, what would you do a point guard like at the end of the day? They're not very good right now, but they need to get to the point where they are good by the time mid January rolls around right? So do you keep playing Jeremy roach and DJ Stewart together and hope that Jeremy roach figures it out cuz I don't think DJ stewards really a point guard. I think he's you want to play him to where he's freed up the score and maybe have him yeah defend point of attack. I don't think Jaylen Johnson is really a half-court point guard. Like I think I would rather have him Just with the freedom to push and transition and then not have to play as like a half-court point guard necessarily because what do you think? What do you want? Like come on the way and the elbow just I mean, what I would do is I would like stretch it out. Like I would I would start brakefield first and foremost cuz brakefield can actually shoot and I would go kind of five out and I would say you're going You're Going the Virginia division three 5 out. No, not necessarily that but I've played ball screen heavy offense with one of them and I would use jail and Josh is the screener and put him in short roles constantly and let him take advantage of four on threes and then maybe put that hurt in the corner. Yeah. Stretch it out a little bit Yeah, and then you said it was a cutter and everything right choice. You can roll then you can stay at the top the next time you clear it aside. He makes a play you still keep going with roaches and Steward over a gold wire like you have to I will say like I think Jordan goldwire is better than girls. Ramiro's right now, but maybe maybe right now I have faith in you know Road I do. Yeah if Jordan goldwire is still their best point guard at the end of the year. They are in deep shit. I think wage like no disrespect to join Global. I tried again. I try to be so respectful and you just come up with a knockout punch like this is how we really feel wage. Look Jordan goldwire is like a pretty consistent 20-plus turnover percentage guy who doesn't really shoot it. So he plays great defense and he's like people shit on him as a guy that you know, how did he end up at Duke he was you know, where were his offers his offers were like Mercer and Duke and that was it took like I think he's very clearly a like good enough player to play at Duke and that is a commendable outcome for him and he's worked his ass off to get there. But like this is a team that has like National Title hopes and I don't think that Jordan goldwire is necessarily the guys going to get them there in the half-court. Well, they have wage I mean Bellarmine Abella mind my saying the wrong Belair mean I believe. Yeah, I think so too the Bellarmine tomorrow will Friday it's going to post then he'll on Sunday think he wants playing again right now with a partner. Sorry the postponed so they have better mean and then they play again Tuesday December 8th against Illinois. That will also be a tough one that came back. I don't know if like it matters very play anymore. I know you gotta fly and get on the get on the road a little bit, but I don't think like I said home-court Advantage anymore. I can't tell but yeah, that'll be I mean those guys are pretty Relentless off..

"Being a team that can get to the final four enlisted Gonzaga. Yeah, like I think that's where I'm at. Like everyone's just going to lose Gonzaga, but I think that they why we even like the great thing about Gonzaga be an awesome job that we if the season gets shut down because of the coronavirus at least we know who's going to win the title, right? It's going to be exact just give them the banner now man shyt the other team owners talked abouts do Chrome. I watch the Coppin State game right before we got on I have concerns. I have some real concerns right now with Duke. I've gotta tell you I am significantly more concerned about Duke than I am about Kentucky like Kentucky. You can see a path to them being really really good. I do not know how Duke can end up being good life. I legitimately think there's a real chance that they can end up being like a 500 team this year. Okay. I'm not that worried. I'm definitely not that word. But I think their pathway is letting Jaylin off like run point and playing DJ Stewart is like the combo guard who is like the quote unquote point guard right? They play Jordan goldwire today. I don't I don't really get it. They tend to I know started Jordan goldwire Joey Baker and Matthew hurt while playing Jaylen Johnson at the 5,000. Yeah, that's a problem. I'm not a problem. They got their asking the best player on the other than Jaylen Johnson, right the best player on the floor and that cop and State game was some dude that they I don't even know what his name was it like 285 lucky. They kept Duncan on them. Yeah. That was good. Well, they had two of them. That's the thing like they had both Anthony Clark and Clayton kid. They're both they're both like look kind of similar when you should know which one is which right but what one of them had sixteen the other one had like eighteen like those two don't know they both the 24 good they were both really good Mackin took had like twenty two and nine. So I think you're talking about Anthony torque. He like washed. He rants Matthew heard a few times and yes, he did. I will say this like dead. Matthew hurt was not a disaster in that game. Like I'm not nearly as worried about Matthew hurt rocking and Eric gagne goatee, then I am about Joey back playing for this Duke team at all. Yeah, it's I just don't understand. So there's a couple of things right? Like I don't understand how they're going to be able to guard at any kind of reasonable level if they don't have. Any kind of Rim protection and you're playing Joey Baker and Matthew hurt, right or you don't have any kind of Rim protection and you're.

Matthew hurt Mackin Duke Joey Baker Gonzaga Jordan goldwire Jaylen Johnson Anthony Clark Kentucky Eric gagne DJ Stewart Duncan Jaylin Clayton
