"We're not doing it. Laugh one time, Evan. You're a joke. Yes, I was joking. Yes. Okay. All right. No, we're going to trade to kill Harry for Jordan Davis straight up. All right, so the Chargers hung up on us. The other three teams in front of us aren't taking calls. So here we go. And wow. So Jordan Davis made it this. Jordan Davis falls to 21, I mean. So we do have that rule that if the board is just not working, we respect it. We respect the respect the process, right? Is that what this is? It's tough because. Could this happen? I think there is like a 5% chance that this could happen. The board the wedding, the only big surprise here was penning at 17 to the charges. Yeah. They just took.

"Yeah, New Orleans could move up for a quarterback. They almost moved up for Matt Jones last year, so they really like Malik Willis. They could be moving up again for a quarterback. But they're not moving down. So the reason I point this out is when you get to this point here, where are the Patriots options to trade up? I would say 11 or 12, but those are extreme jumps. Yes. The only other team, I think maybe looks to move back as the Chargers at 17. I could see it. Ross is pretty set. They just might want to consolidate pics. Is that their needs and the Patriots needs line up pretty nicely in terms of what the prospects that they might be going after. Jordan Davis makes sense for the Chargers, a wide receiver makes sense for the Chargers, one of the corners makes sense for the Chargers. Just like the Patriots. So what they really give up that pick to the Patriots, knowing that the Patriots are probably going to take one of the guys that was at the top of their own board. That's a tough part about that marriage. We talked about the eagles in the saints probably not moving down. So really you're going up in the 11 through 14 range. If you really want to trade up, that's really the only way that you're going to, you're going to have to jump the Chargers, I think. I don't think you can trade with them. I think you have to jump. Okay. So basically what we've learned here from this little experiment, I'm glad we did this. Yes. Super unlikely. Super nice. I don't want to say unlikely. Super difficult for the Patriots to trade off this year. Very, very difficult for the Patriots to move up, or if there would be very expensive. One or the other. So I just want to see what happens at 17. Maybe we can figure out a way to justify something. Jordan Davis is still on the board. Okay, so Jordan Davis is still here. Yeah, we know the idiot math coach doesn't care about the run. That's not true. Stop it. There are 29 to get the run last pair. Yeah, no, they were terrible against the run last year, which is why Jordan Davis makes so much sense for them with this pick..

"Live mock drive show two. Evan Lazar, Alex barth with you, as always. And we are going to take you through our second iteration of a patriots mock draft here going all 7 rounds every single pick. We're going to talk about the board. We're going to maybe make some trades. We're going to have some fun with it. But the main thing that we want to do here today, that I want to do here today is make a pick at 21. Last time we traded out at 21, it was the right thing to do based off the way at the board went, but I would really like to see us try to make a pick here at 21 today. If it goes our way and see where things go from there, I feel like at this point, Alex, the overwhelming consensus is that the Patriots are going to trade out at 21. Now it's becoming almost too much of a hot take, or too much of a take. A hot topic, I should say, too much of a group think that maybe they actually do something different. With that pick, then what we're all anticipating. So we're going to get into that. We'll get into the mock draft. Let's get right into it. Not much else going on, so we can just pull the my draft up right now. And once again, I want to reiterate that the goal here is to stick at 21, but as we saw last time, it's not always as easy to stick at 21 as we want it to be if everybody's off the board. But go ahead Alex whenever you're ready. All right, so I'll just let people say we're going to use the same settings we use last time. We're picking as the patrons. I'm doing this as much to make sure I got everything set. 7 fast. All right. We're not trading up. We agree we're not sure. We'll do a separate trade up, maybe that's next week. We will do a trade up mock draft. But let's see, remember, last week, we got no help from the board. Let's see how that changes a week later. Okay. It's a couple of directions we could go here. Yeah. Not as terrible as last time I would say. 20 hertz. Jordan Davis, booth, a lava. So not as rough this time leading up, but still not ideal. There's Jameson Williams. Walker went very early. Look, I understand that people, wow, ahmaud gardener, second, okay. I understand that people come at us about saying that too many guys are gonna go and whatnot. This is the way the board played out this time and just the people that are off the board going up at 21..

"That one could go, I think Gardner is going to be off the board, but they also went corner top ten last year too. Right. They have D.C. horn coming back. They re signed Dante Jackson so that right. I don't know if they'll go over there, but maybe the simulator is just thinking best player available. Right. Although Gardner, I think is a top ten pick. So is Stanley. I have stingley ranked ahead of Gardner. Charles cross falls a little bit. That's an interesting point. I would be more inclined to think that Panthers would go Charles cross with their pick over. I would too. This is an interesting one. Because there you go. All right, Trayvon walker, Malik Willis to Washington. That's kind of feels possible, I guess. Terrific Duffy. So here's the thing. The way this board went and it could go a number of ways. But the way this board went. Early run on corners. Not a great year to meet a corner for me this way. Trent mcduffie going very high. Carl Loftus falls a little bit, and I know you've been big on that. Devin Lloyd, Jordan Jordan Davis eagles. That's my pick. I think he goes to the eagles. We got James. This kills the Patriots right here. These are four. This was a murder boy. We just said that we weren't necessarily going to trade down, but now we might have to trade down because the way that this went was exactly the Patriots worst nightmare, right? These are realistic. We're going to discuss for the 21st pick. Yeah, this is a doomsday. Of course, it's the very first mock draft that we do. And then we have a doomsday scenario. Good straight off the bat. Good challenge. I think that let's talk about it though, because you just mentioned it. Jameson Williams, Trevor penning booth alaba. I think if they come away with it and then Jordan Davis was at 15, right? So he gave us one of those eagles picks. I think 16, 15, yeah. Yeah, so all of our and Garrett Wilson. So this is basically everybody that the Patriots might want to draft just went right off the board right before we could get to this pick. This is where you look at it. In a Devon, Lloyd went 14 is another one a lot of people. Right. So this is where I sit back and I look at it and I say, if this is the way that it looks, they got a trade down. They absolutely have to trade down because the drop off now that we're at is substantial where the guy that they're going to get when they trade down, I don't think is going to be that much worse. Now the problem that you have is that if you trade down too far, then for instance, if we go to the corner, so do we want to look at the best on the board, just laid out? Sure. But I think I would much rather draft him later. Right. Lindbergh's interesting one. I wonder if they would take a job over here and see it as value pick. No, I think it's still too high because he's going to be out for the whole year. The guy that I think is interesting here, if they're going to go that position, obviously, elam, we'll talk about too. I do like Jermaine Johnson from Florida state for them a lot..

"A sub, not just a sub 5. He ran a sub four 8. He was a four 7 three, which is just, I mean, when it happened, my job, I think I made an audible noise and just looked at me and was like, what? What's going on? And I was like, a 340 pound dude with ran of four 7 three. Even she was impressed. So, you know, that's when you know, right? By the way, you know who else ran a four 7 three officially? That arisa. All the best players are running for it. Although, if you go back, you watch the tape, he ran like a four four two. They screwed him on the clock, but all the best players are officially running anyway. Go ahead. Yeah, you know, you know, and just as impressed by somebody running fast at the combine. And really, really fast. So anyways, without Jordan Davis on the board because at this point if that guy doesn't go on the top ten of this draft at the top 15, then I have no freaking clue what these teams are doing. I mean, come on. Right. So if we go on to the next one here, I think the next guy in line, if you're trying to get, look, I think devonte Wyatt is a really good player. He's definitely going to be a first rounder. He's somebody that I think can be more of like an end, right? Maybe a three technique defensive end, not necessarily true nose tackle. Travis Jones from Connecticut. If Jordan Davis didn't run like an absolute cyborg, then we'd be talking a lot more about Travis Jones workout on Saturday at the combine. Four 9 O official 40 yard dash for Travis Jones. He tested as an elite tester as well. Absolutely showed out at the senior bowl. He's somebody at the Patriots, checks a lot of boxes for New England as a one technos tackle senior bowl guy who played really well there, played locally at UConn. I think that he's the next guy in line for them on the defensive line if they still want to add another body next to bar more. Yeah, I mean, it depends which way they want to go, do they want to add a true nose or do they want to put another athlete next to barmore, right? We speculate on the last show. The guy like Perry on Winfrey. I think Jones, if they want to add that nose tackle, I mean, Jones is the guy the thing is now his stock is going up. Not only because he had a great combine, but Jordan Davis Jordan Davis is going to go even.

"He can play three, four end, right? Or maybe he can play a little bit more shaded out towards the guard. And in that's the case, then now he's got a whole lot more versatility to light up up and down the line of scrimmage. I think a lot of people that watch his tape and see his size 6 6 three 42, they say nose tackle. He's going to play on the center or he's going to play the one technique shaded nose in between the garden center, but he's not going anywhere further out than that. Well, if he has that type of athleticism, then he can potentially play further out than that. And if you play certain schemes, like let's say you play an outside zone scheme and you want to put them on the strong side end, then you can do that. And that's definitely a lot more value than just a guy that's going to play a straight nose tackle role over the center. That's sort of been trying to tell you. I don't think he's just an Osaka. I think he's better than that. We'll see what he does today. But watching him in college, I think he's better than that. Yeah, I can't, I can't imagine that if he tests well, the teams won't agree with you, right? Right. That's the way this is headed. And what that also allows you to do is I think a lot of the conversation with Jordan Davis is he only a first and second down player, right? And are you going to have a limited role for him and is that worth the first round pick? Well, if he can move up and down the line of scrimmage and he might not just be a run game player, right? So the only difference I would say with him and his potential to play more snaps is obviously going to be conditioning. And the Patriots have a great conditioning program. So maybe they can get them in a good enough game shape that he can play 60 snaps in the game. And he's not just a rotational piece. But yeah, that's really where it comes into these workouts for a guy like Jordan Davis is, does the ad more versatility than just playing on the nose? Because if he does, then we're talking about a different type of conversation because I know a lot of people are hung up on. Well, he's just a rundowns player. He's not going to be in the game on third down. He's not going to be in the game on second and long. So you're drafting a guy in the first round that's going to play 35 snaps a game. That doesn't have value. Yeah, I mean, I don't know that he's going to be like a primary pass rusher, but you're not going to put him out there. I'm like, they're in 15, right? At least not right away. But third and 5 where, you know, shotgun draw a screen might be in the picture, something like that, RPO, I think he can play against in that sort of situation. Yeah. So I don't think he's going to have an 80% usage rate, but nobody that pig is going to have an 80% usage rate. 60%, you know, 65%. I think that's realistic, if not right away within.

"This Tuesday afternoon combine week finally, Indy NFL combine. I absolutely love this week of the year in the NFL calendar. I'm already getting a little bit of fomo that I'm not in Indianapolis this year watching some of the other reporters. Hopefully we'll be back next year in person. But for this year, we'll do it from home. We'll have Alex barth and myself talking all week long about the combine and about the Patriots at the NFL scouting combine and I want to start with the report today, Alex. Well, first of all, how excited are you about the combine this week? Yeah, you know, I'm looking forward to it. And I think kind of what we're going to get into, I think, to combine has evolved and I'll use this to kind of set the table on all my takes throughout the week. We talked about this on the last show, right? The origin of the 40 time covering punts like the combine has evolved beyond the drills. They're obviously interesting to watch. I don't think they mean a ton. They'll impact certain players draft spots and in pockets they mean something. But the big thing for me this week is it's the first time we really get a clear picture. A lot of this board, this overall big board is unclear, right? We don't know what order these receivers are in. We don't know what's going on with the corners, the quarterbacks are a big part of this. Jordan Davis, we're going to see who's meeting with who, which players are taking a lot of meetings. That to me is what I'm excited for this week. More so than the drills, it's that we start and there really were no meetings at the senior bowl, which was surprising to me. So even more so this year, we're going to start seeing which teams are meeting with which players and it's really going to kind of start to put that board together for us because that's what I really want to see. I'm sick of doing, well, if he's there at 21, which he might be, he might not be. It's a coin flip, like I feel like we get some clarity to that this week. So that you can have your drills. Have fun with your drills. I encourage you to have fun with your drills. I'll enjoy watching them. But the big thing for me this week, what I'm watching isn't even on the field. It's the reports. It's who's meeting with who..

"He's going to be a nose tackle. He has to be a nose tackle. He might be able to play like a over guard or shade it over the guard, but he's going to be a nose tackle. He's going to be in the middle of the line. You're probably going to take him off the field on third down. He's been well fork, right? That's the type of place. I still think you're underselling him his pass rusher, but okay. Maybe I am. I think that there was a lack of exposure in that sense that Georgia, right? Because they brought on their Devante Wyatt's and their Trayvon walkers and they brought on the next wave of their pass rush talent, right? They basically had lime changes when they felt like they got into passing situations. So maybe on a team that wants to stick with the same core group and is it rotating guys as much out? Like Georgia did, there's a difference here. It's the same thing I should mention. The same thing happened to Christian barmore at Alabama, right? Alabama went ten deep on the defensive line. So he didn't always play, right? It wasn't because he wasn't awesome. He just didn't always play. So maybe Jordan Davis has some untapped potential there as a password. I will say, if you're going to single block Jordan Davis in the past rush, good luck anchoring against his bull rush, right? Is that a guy like Jordan Davis might not give you the on ball production of a Christian bar more, for example, in terms of pressures and sacks and things like that. But he's going to occupy guys and give single blocks to everybody else. So if they try to single them with the center or with the guard over the nose, that guard is going to get walked back into the quarterback by Jordan Davis. So you have to have that as a category in his pass rush ability. This is bull rush his ability to dent or collapse the pocket. But again, let's get back to the question. I so lean towards Davis. I like the idea if they bring JC Jackson back. I actually like the idea of drafting booth even more because I think pairing JC Jackson with Andrew booth is the Patriots, no fly zone in 2022, right? Like I think that has real potential, maybe not 2022, but if you're signing JC to a four year contract and you're drafting boot now in 2023, 2024, 2025, you're going to have a really dominant secondary, right? Yeah. But at the same time, I love a lot of it. So this is a really tough one. I don't know where I go with it..

"It's going to be the quarterbacks. Right. Well, that's not great for the Patriots. Right. That doesn't help the Patriots. So the consensus board right now has Kenny Pickett in the top 20, which maybe they also have Matt corral in the top 20, which absolutely not. Or somebody should be fired. Well, man, Jordan Davis and Andrew boo junior either one of those guys so far I grade on a scale of zero to 8 ounce 7 all pro potential. I got two 7 so far right now and it's Andrew junior and Jordan Davis. So given anybody in 8, I've never given anybody in 8. I think the highest grade I ever gave anybody, I'm trying to think who it was, I have to go back and check. I'll have that answer for you next time. Wait, you do zero to 8 or two to 8. I mean, I never actually give it to anybody at zero. So I guess it's more like four and a half to 8 because that's four to four and a half for me is like fringe roster player camp invite. So it's just funny because the baseball universal baseball scouting scale is 20 to 80. And nobody nobody ever gets below a 40, but it's I get a 20, right? But it's 20 to 80. Yeah, anyway. All right. Well, any other questions you guys have. We've covered these one more. I wanted to get to. What is it? Matt arrays of 5th round babe. Look at the trade for that pick. But batteries, here's the stat. Here's this bigger ever been traded talking about Jake Bailey. As a punter ever been traded. No, which is what we talked about last time with Ryan Allen. But here's the interesting stat to know. Do you know the last time a punter played for the Patriots under a second contract? A second consecutive contract are like where this is going. Rich camera rich camera or Camarillo in the mid 80s. So this predates Bill significantly. The Patriots have not the only punter to play under two contracts was Ken Walter and it was two separate stints. They got rid of them some of her, they brought him back. Ryan Allen got a second contract here. They drafted Jake Bailey, but then they drafted Bailey didn't make the team. Right. Bailey's got its essentially no dead money in his deal. It's less than a $100,000. He's in the last year of his deal. It's under a $100,000 in dead money. He'd have a great year last year, and they never,.

"I absolutely love Jordan Davis for the Patriots in the first round. If he's there, we were texting about this before the show. And this draft in the first round, it feels like there's 19 maybe 20 really good prospects for the Patriots in the first round. If you take out the quarterbacks and God help us all if they draft a guard in the first round. So let's take out the guards also. And you just look at all the other positions. And I think that Jordan Davis is right near the top of my list, if not the top guy in terms of what might be available to the Patriots at 21. Probably a more of a two down nose tackle at this point in terms of where he's going to fit in the NFL. And so maybe not a top ten top 15 guy. If this is 20 years ago, he's going top 5, right? This guy can move at 6 foot 6, 340 pounds and absolute mountain can't be moved off the line of scrimmage. Can't single block him. Dominant run defender. Where do you stand on the Patriots taking Jordan Davis because he does have a somewhat limited athletic profile to be the DT. He's not Christian barmore, right? He's a different than that. He's so, by the way, he's not 26 he's 22, I don't know where that came from. He's so athletic. I think he I think he's a three down player. I think he gets underrated his pass rusher. And if he's on the board I'd snag him, I still think there's no shot he makes it to 21. I look at, I said this on the show a couple weeks ago. Derek Brown from auburn was a 7th round pick by the 7th overall pick by the Panthers. What was that two years ago now? Yes. Jordan Davis, nothing against Derek Brown I think Derek brown's a 5 fine player. Jordan Davis miles add where Derek Brown was when he went 7th overall. I think he's going to pop at the combine. I'm like, he's three, 40. He's going to run around a 5. He's going to run around a 5 second four. He's that athletic. I.

"This is the best possible scenario shack extended it to seconds and absolve me from having to do it. What you want rich come on. Don't let them off the hook. No rich okay. Why did you hear what he has to say about the current dallas cowboys in a bet. That's coming up right now. Back here on the richeisenshow. Eight four. four two o. Full rich is the number to dial the captain cs have been named across the nfl. Right correct kris and you have you have scoured the list as to who's a captain and most importantly who is not so a pin in that 'cause i am seeing on occasion something pop up on my phone from the nfl media group assignment desk. I saw who got to see but you say you know somebody who did not get a and you wanna talk about that. Do so put a pin in that. Because it's time for me to throw to my conversation however for the moment. That is zoomed with this man yesterday. The one and only great shaquille o'neal check it out. One of the all time greats not just playing basketball but in his broadcasting career courtesy of frosted flakes here on the rich eisen. Show is the great shaquille o'neal houria shack I'm good now that i'm talking to a legend. How you doing you say that to all the people use them with actually i. Don't i want to say too long. Things what i miss you into. I love me sir. Two things right back at you. I miss you. And i love you as well. Let's let's just jump right into it here. it's nfl opening week You're still cowboy fan. You still always. What do you think thinking. Just gotta go ahead and put it on work and we gotta get back to being. America's team bracket with struggle and basco peers injuries and contract negotiations. But hopefully everybody's healthy and look. I'm a cowboys. Fan forever right. She wanted to go see great run. I got the opportunity to sit down. Like always see jerry jones and peasant high right. I got the opportunity to sit down and his often. Beautiful man beautiful man you know. He told me. I started a cowboys. Historians just so legendary so mr jones you watch on talk to him in a sign that was probably one of the best days of my life when he it's funny he said Last year he said that prior to his third super bowl when he said he told god. If you give this to me. I won't ask for another and he's like well. I'm letting them know. I'd like to rearrange that deal east back to ask for another one. You know and i just love jack. Love everything about him. I just love the way he came in the league and the pressures that he he was under and then last year. I mean my god. He was just balling out and then carted off and now he's back good looking no worst aware. So this is at right. Now you know wishing well actually wish all the other teams well tampa bay gonna be bringing. That knows. The do may man leonard for that. Lsu greats that's lsu. yeah so. but i'm i'm gonna cowboys guy so Did you ever try. Did you ever try football. Your plate tied andrew. I was actually a great tight here in a guy your size at the score. Sideswiped me mess my knee up. And then i wish is sitting at the house. One day you know just messing around and my father came in with a piece of paper and smack me on the head and he said if you you like football look what the basketball are making that. This was when john context on that big contract. And that darren says you know what a muffler ball for me. I'm just going to bring this. Nfl style to the nba. Somebody chopped you down. Went low on the side on your side is a little scrawny little guy trying to in high school football career. And your dad's like you go get yourself some money. That's what exactly. yeah. I mean 'cause you know always told. My dream was to make aid for ten years. But as my own house my whole goal and i told my father. And he's like. I know what you dream was will look what to john guys making knows i own my and now the rest is literally history And so okay. Let's just hit the nba. Little madonna avenue here. What do you think. Ben simmons And his situation in philadelphia. That seems like that marriage is going to have to break up with what amex roy going back to. What my father taught me. It took me to a game one time not terrible game and on the way back he said son. If you ever make it to this level make sure you put on a good show. You obligated to do that. And i never thought about it but we are obligated to put on a good show. The pay thirty like i put myself guard. They're paying twenty thirty may so dribble a basketball put on a good show. Work on game. There has to work when game and not the not saying nothing. Nobody's saying you're bagai. He's doing this and doing that. Were saying that the process is over. We brought the build his team to win championships. You know people in philadelphia. They respect people that work hard. You gotta work on your game. I was there that game. Six where he dribbled under where he coulda dunked. Because you don't wanna get out listen. I wasn't a great free though. She i wasn't gonna stop being aggressive. 'cause i was worried about missing fritos so we're obligated to put on. The show. were obligated to work on our game so he has to decide this. I've done what would be a really good player. Oh do i want to be one of the greatest. Does it just sounds good but it's a federal i'd like you know some people are just happy with. Hey i'm making thirty. I'm doing this. I got this actress on. I'm riding around in his car and some people have with that but other people like no. I want rich eisen. Talk about me in the morning. And say i'm one of the greatest. So now he has. He has to make that decision. But look i know. He's receiving a lot of criticism. Integrates received criticism. Get enough to where they can receive criticism but his criticism was warranted. Work on the game should to jump step up to the line to knock him down when he's supposed to periods to talk about so you know the fact that he said he wants to be traded what he needs understand if you don't work on a game and you know he probably does. I'm not going to jump on me game but if you continue to show up like he did in the playoffs and any other in is going to be the same thing down last so work on your game period. You obligated do that. It seems like philly and he just can't mix anymore right i mean. Do you think that do a philly. Now i've been well. We've both been around. You know certain things. All the you know the company is is done. I don't wanna be hearing on that but this is all on him. The people in philly have given enough shannon philadelphia boss ally in miami. You got to bring it. He got to work hard and look people. Why should people expect you to you. know are. he's been doing the same thing for three or four. Hasn't given them the past so if he if he does come back there is game. That'll be different another few more minutes left with shaquille o'neal here on the rich eisen show via zoom with me rich. You know i. I appreciate that. I don't want to hold up your time on your on your tour here. Shaquille o'neal i wanna make sure. But i'm respectful respectful of So what do you think damian lillard should do. What do you think is going on in his mind and what you think he's going to do or should let's go start with the should do what he thinks he's an old school mentality. S planning guy said. I'm not a teaming up with you. I'm gonna beat you right but these guys are saying. Hey let's team up easier. So that's the tough decision for him. I know he wants to stay in portland now when it out but he may have to manage to switch up his mentality muss any shit. I'm you're saying he may have to because everybody else is doing it and everybody else is doing. That's just gone. you know. Keep him further from.
