"Slammed the program with sanctions that including cutting off the official target can only hires would probably win or to have this big three have vacated so to speak but when you look at Reggie bush and that type player and you think what he meant post Katrina just talk about that you know who that nation and I'm lookin up five years after he was gone Reggie bush and USC were penalized but NC double a day after investigators determined he and his family receive benefits while he was still in school we're going forward in the future it seems like an entry level a level that would even be an issue when Reggie bush maybe got in trouble with it now I don't know exactly but not just all about the team made that Reggie bush was a considering how significant he was considering post could trip between and all the hype that he brought in and given people hope for the same yep pers body gonna touch on how idiotic and stupid that decision was the NC double a main when they chose to vacate his hired man trophy or him being a Heisman Trophy winner because the NC double a they have every opportunity to looking at scenarios and then they can administer punishment as they see fit and for them to sit around and say one of the best players that we've all ever seen you the best college player I ever saw live I've never seen a college player better than him for him to have there they sit around them for them to say okay the best punishment that we can give out for something that had already happened years prior if the take away the hive management we don't know he was the best player at the time that is what they did right adds what they deem as reasonable that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard like that makes absolutely no sense to what the punishment was what the climate dum dum and so I'm glad they finally rescinded they realize how stupid they are because Reggie was the most electrifying player that scene in college ball and now they're going into what he was at the same the best part about Reggie was that he was the perfect college football player that I had seen live going into a city that needed someone as electrifying as him someone as talented as him someone that could bring people together that's what Reggie bush did he brought the city together when Reggie runs out with the flag to start the game everyone's excited when Reggie would rip off a punt return for a touchdown or scream for touchdowns everybody will sit there and watch in awe and hold their breath and be like wow you know you're you're witnessing a recommended that the you know playing at at the highest level so you know what he meant to New Orleans where he was at the teammate it was it was just awesome and also because of what he brought to the table the people he brought around the people that he brought together because of his ability I mean there's just no more I can say about a mill phenomenal playing with Reggie I enjoyed it and I hope this thing to join his time with the talking with Jonathan Vilma former New Orleans Saints and current analyst for fox NFL games and and okay so J. B. and and kind of commemoration of the ten year anniversary of getting our Super Bowl rings I want you to share inning game story something that happened maybe that that is a fond memory for you I'll share an example with you and and I don't think anybody to the state knows about it really but you remember how Sean was so paranoid about cleats in that game right and and it's been well documented right at the wrong cleats and everything he heard about it it's on every recap of that game in existence well the second play of that football game I went in motion and I had to cross the centering come back in when I put my foot in the ground I'm wearing my molded cleats which is what I wear every game in my foot slid out from underneath me almost fell completely to the ground I get back into the motion I don't know that Sean really notices and I spread to the sideline after the play and I grab Cory go day one of the same to quit the managers and I screwed I said couldn't work crew give a quick primer click not going up really quick because I knew that I was just seconds away from getting the wrath of Super Bowl Sean Payton which isn't even a bit it's an even level up from Sunday Shania Jamie game this afternoon so do you have any stories you know front with your linebackers guy something to happen in a game that was real memorable for you yeah all still laugh about it do they have a great story on the Greg Williams and the defense coordinator and we had all week or all two weeks we were practicing roles called automatic front and coverage and what that meant was we were the premise of it was we were trying to look the same for Peyton manning until about maybe ten seconds on the play clock and we try to hurry up and based on his check or or former formation I would then check into a different defects or or a stick with the one that we had and I will try to give him different looks so that by the end of the game or you know that second half will hopefully confusing invited much you said and going against Peyton manning and I'll never forget you know first quarter they got the yards and a score ten points and now it's kind of the feeling out period for me and I was trying to make sure that all the checks I was hearing from cable right and and making sure the formation what I remember watching film extension and so I remember Greg constantly sticking with it he had the what we call intestinal fortitude to kind of let it ride with you AFP automatic front covers so now we finally get a beat on Peyton manning and the offense and I'm able to start getting in and out of checks and your son plays good defense so so we come out that could have been we all know about the onside kick in are we going to score some points off the onside kick so now the TV time now we're coming back and I'll go to styling of the usually going to be tied up in gray blue and gold right Hey man how you doing I'm not yeah it is I so you still feel good you still got to be on American I'll say yeah you know it's still going to be on from the second quarter so feeling good these are are good because I don't know what the hell the call I don't know what the hell they're doing so to make it right okay so what so ever the fifteen break right but other than a we had a laugh at it as a regular homeowner like what's so funny I'm I do learn the Superbowl and I got our deep in the corner like Alamo the hell you gonna go out there right yeah man listed just looking to check it will be good all right whatever we do this why are you bothering go like all right now we've got it in there thank you I don't great stuff thank you and you know John it then how did be on the field when you seen Tracy Porter at the time and on the cut that slant route the ticket to the house how did you feel like me and then we will be going to win this game what did how did you feel the not yet I I I did not feel that way he scored I I took a little breath and you can remember ValuEngine Peyton manning it's not like we're going to go you know what but Joe blow right the end so all my life and guide as much as you want to celebrate we feel that god did business stay manning all right this guy can bring them back if there's someone I can bring them back without you it's going to be paying so that you keep focus over here so you know I never let up until we stopped them on fourth down offense went out to take a V. and a victory formation is the best formation all of football then I saw the confetti start to come down and that's when I really like lego that's when it was it was all Jonathan Vilma JV man we really appreciate the time that it's that they're great stories great memories and you know we always appreciate you haven't have any on and then you spend all your time with us and I'm gonna get you out of here before Bobby brings up the you yeah thank you I I don't have time I thank you over so many Donna the ability to enter just hang up I don't want to hear who knows all right we're gonna step away of Jonathan Vilma with Fox Sports to former New Orleans say when we come back we got a father son combo coming up.

"As New Orleans has mardi gras and jazz fest, WWL AM and FM. Looking back to fans in the pros. This is always one of the practice songs. When you play any California team, usually the first to be honest with you. That's a good one. It makes sense while Denmark, March done a great job. How about a roundabout pause for Marc Menard tonight? It's been fantastic DJ jazzy minard. We'll come up with some baron that I'm sorry. Those. We're joined now by a very special saints guests one of fans in the pros favorite guests, his highness, his eloquence, Mr Jonathan Vilma, sir Vilma. What's up what's going on? How you doing buddy? I am doing great anybody for great weekend and the Superdome. Are we back in New Orleans right now? Yeah. Actually, I just landed. And I'm trying to check in. And then I got a call from my two favorites and two favorites in do street. So I gotta picked up I got answering and talk a little football. Well, we appreciate that. First of all, I'm gonna give you props JV one of the very few people. I saw taking Clemson outright in the national championship game out proved to be a pretty pretty decent take on that game. And we're no longer the college football season. So we're not going to harass you about the Miami hurricanes. This is all about the saints in the NFC championship game and JV. I want to go back to nine the saints. Take on the Minnesota Vikings in the Superdome. The last time this game was played in the Superdome. As a player your memories of that game. How is that game different from every other game you ever played in the Superdome? Man. You know, I was just talking about it with one of my favorite coaches linebacker coach at the time Joe bid, and I told him straight up. That was the hardest game. I played in ever in my career. And we always talk about the the atmosphere the electricity, you know, the intensity. But there was never game bad been a part of where the two teams literally were playing out willing each other. That's all that's all it came down to the battle of wills. And it was a mindset determination by us to go out and win the game. And thank God. They're hardly booted that one through through the uprights because frankly, it could have gone either way it was one of those games where you played at ten times. A little regard five and five that's just the way I feel about it. But it was our will to win although to compete being in a dome with. Disband? It was electric electric beat-up his game game. Matter of fact, we said had we had to play their next week. We probably would have gotten because I was so spent from that game alone. I I don't think I would have had the energy emotionally to get up for a game the following week JV telled talk about how the fans can can play a part in this game. And then, you know, I remember you and Scott talking about going back to the playoffs or at least the Super Bowl you guys given a fake call or at least on one front and then change it on Peyton Manning a lot. Do you see the saints maybe using that that type of technique this week as well? Sore answer. No because the saints having done that all all season long. So it's hard to implement in three days of practice when it comes down to it. It's hard to implement that. If you have not done it all season. You don't want your players to have to start thinking especially defensively. You don't want your place at to start thinking all of a sudden in the most important game. Just go out and play fast, though, the fans so that that should have been the first thing I mentioned about the NFC championship game the fans or critical critical part of the game because they were so damn loud. When Minnesota's offense was up, and we were up defensively, I could not hear anybody talking to feet away from me, I could not hear them speak screaming at the top of my lungs. They couldn't hear me. I couldn't hear them. So it was great because I know that the first thing for offenses forget players exit. Does good quarterback is scheme and communication. You gotta communicate. So if they can't communicate because they can't hear basic, and now it's an easy scheme to run or or schema games when you can only do one check if that you can maybe get another checkout, and that's it because you're offensive liking here. You definitely can't hear you're running back can't here. So I love the fact that it's at home in the loud as dome so that we can have the fans get a rocking and make it damn near impossible for Jared Goff to speak and communicate JV big story coming out of L A this week was obviously the two hundred seventy three yards on the ground. They amassed against the Dallas Cowboys. What's the saints defense after do? They've lost Sheldon rankings. It's a big loss along the front. What are the saints need to do to try to bottle up that running game of the Ran's nothing special to be honest with you the saints have been very good against the run all season long. So there is nothing specially. To do when you take a deeper dive into that the Cowboys Rams game. The first thing is the Rams were tired, and you can see like the Rams were defensively one of the better defenses throughout the season. And they relied on speed their game was speed speed at the petition speed at the linebacker position. And the guys were frankly tired, and that just goes from having to play the game the week before then you yet to travel out west, you try to go day early to get your legs up onto you and get ready, and you couldn't do it. And then you have a fresh LA Rams team. That said we don't have to pass it. We're just gonna kinda down your throat, you can't stop us. So that's not going to happen. Okay. It's the same. Saints will be ready for they'll stop the run. I don't wanna make that bigger issue. Dan. What it is. It's not that big saints great Jonathan Vilma JV one of the best fans of this show. We appreciate all the time. You gave us a season, man. And hopefully, we'll get to see you tomorrow or Sunday. Yeah. Actually, I look forward to talking to you guys in a couple of weeks when the saints went. So let's do it. Absolutely JV. You take care. Thank you, brother. Saint great Jonathan Vilma more from fans in the pros when we return here on WWL..

"It's great to have you with us here on ESPN radio. I'm Adnan Virk hanging out with my man, Jonathan Vilma. We are in for Stephen a Smith who is on location as you may have just sit on I take love seeing him. And max Mullen entire crew will Cain out there. Supporting our troops enforces classic. I'm going up love. The fact they're also worrying sunglasses, which is where I'd like to start with my friend Jonathan Vilma JV at what point can I start wearing sunglasses indoors? And you wouldn't think it's an odd thing. You wouldn't think to ask me, why are you wearing sunglasses? Well, you know, I'm surprised you haven't started wearing sunglasses already a you are pretty cool. You have your own podcast going. I don't even get to see you anymore. You over there in the new fancy studio over there for SPN. So I figured you still wear you come in and glasses. I just don't know. I get so I'd love to wear them all the time. But you know, when you walk as soon as you walk indoors out of the sun, I feel like there's about a twenty second buffer that you gotta take your sunglasses off before to think jerk. Or no jerk. Here's the thing. Just just continually add ten seconds about. Once a month. And then all of a sudden, you'll just be that guy. You'll be that cool guy cool guy. And I love this math. 'cause you're right JV, the walk from to get to my, you know, my cubicle to the students about five minutes. So the goal is to actually walk in the studio and have joy gallium. Jesse palmer. Thank this is nothing unusual. This is just this. Just Virk roll in here, this shades. Now, that's how it's going to be. I wanna talk to you about a lot of things and you're right. We never get to see each other anymore, which stinks because I love hanging out there. And even today we're joining forces on the show, we are not the same location. You're at our seaport studios in New York. I'm here in Bristol. But we got a ton to get to and at some point Jonathan Winthrop be very diligent producer went to the entire rundown. But there's no room here. I see for the hurricanes. We must give you at least a minute or. No, no there there. There's not to me. There doesn't need to be here. So well identify with the UN love. The fact you're such a blatant Homer with it. I want to give you at least a minute. Listen, if you want to vent, if you wanna cry if you want to get angry, whenever you will have already cried, I cry at home when no. Watching. That's why we go through all of our college football analysts, you Sekkei, which guy is the most distant from his alma mater, like Galloway in Ohio State or Palmer and Florida. Yeah. Matt Brown, Texas. We're like, okay. Who's the most into their school MCI? It's either Vilma or auto you always know those guys are bleeding for my show. I do I do a very I make I do a very subtle. You know, I I have my green oranges were playing Georgia Tech. You know, Chris Qatar? He's a Georgia Tech guy. So I'm gonna rep- quietly Miami Otto's a complete opposite. He wants to everybody know that he's repping Texas, good bad ugly. And you know, I'm trying not to do that a one because we stink. Too. Because when we do stink. Then it's not like, oh, well what's going on your team? I'm trying to get away from that. Because you know, I could be having a really good day. And then someone says I'll who's going to hurricanes, and it's I. Yeah. Exactly. You're you're number one reason was good. Now, they steak right now. We'll let you know when they get back the picture. It's Adnan Virk Jonathan Vilma. Stephen Smith show brought to you by Pennzoil synthetics taking synthetic motor oil performance to whole new level.
