"So they have so many players that they can mix and match even as they're not platooning quite as much as they have in the past that I think he is not only a great player, but he's a great player specifically in LA system. And you mentioned that he was getting platoon to line. And I think I was talking to Jonathan sharks about this. The idea of how in the NBA there were players who work in the regular season. But not in the playoffs. Right. Their their players at the idea of of expanding that concept of baseball. I think though, what you see of most is with pitchers where there are some pitchers who whose value as innings, but like when it comes to high lover, chime you, just you just can't trust them with when you're facing a team like the Red Sox or the Astros are or even the dodgers who can who can really punish you top to bottom and Bellinger because of his his contact issues might was in some danger becoming that kind of player, you know, he wasn't the only players the the dodgers used in every situation the playoffs last year were Justin Turner and Manny Machado without moving them around at all. Whereas Bellinger was a guy who came in again. I right handed pitching when they needed certain things out of their center fielder defensively, but maybe that role changes to and we won't know until crunch time, obviously. But to something more like Chris Taylor where he could've played three or four different positions. Hidden a couple of different places in the lineup. Just based on what other parts heat? It wasn't it. He came in to do a job. It's that he could be moved around to allow those specialized players to come in. And I don't know how much faith I put in that. Generally like Aaron judge looked like he was going to be impossible in the playoffs in that first series. And now a season later his career playoff opium is nine ninety four. So I'm not sure how much that matters. I know that's very like sabermetrics one point..

"Welcome to the show. This is the corner. Three. My name's Kevin O'Connor. Join me for bringer studios in Los Angeles ringer associated editor Danny Chow here. Let's do this in over in Dallas staff writer Jonathan sharks. I'm excited. It's wednesday. It's playoff time. Let's do it man. We're recording this at twelve fifteen pm eastern time on Wednesday, and we're going to break down the Tuesday night games. And look ahead to tonight's slate. At the end, we're going to talk a little bit of NBA draft too. So let's jump right into this guys with the Western Conference last night, the nuggets made a big second half comeback against the Spurs to win one fourteen to one oh five tying the series one to one going back to San Antonio for games three and four Jamal Mary won this game for the nuggets. After just the dismal game one and over eight showing over the first three quarters of game too. But then Danny he was unstoppable in the fourth quarter hitting eight of his nine shots. And we really don't see many guys who go from borderline bench -able for seven straight quarters and then going off in the fourth. Like Mary did. I was I was really ready to just shout from the rooftops. Jamal murray. Sucks. Like, I was so ready like I I've never really been too big of a fan. And then he just the shots that he made. I it's like there are some shots where he was stepping back reclining so far back, and you're just like this guy's unbelievable. It was it was a complete like Jekyll and high performance. And I I'm left unfounded. I I don't really know what to make of this like what are we expecting from him going forward? Like there has to be some middle ground. Right. I think this is who he is though. Right. Like so in this playoff, so far, he shot sixteen for forty one. He takes really tough shots. Sometimes they go in sometimes they don't he's very confident player. So keep taking them. I think one of the things with Mari. When I reported that nugget story earlier this year, both Michael Malone, and August manager, Tim Conley mentioned that what they wanna see from Murray moving. Forward is more consistency since consistency and his effort on defense consistency was with approach on the offense of ended floor. But I think one of the things for him. They'll be a little bit harder to solve is the consistency with his jump shot like as we know from following. You know, these guys when they're in college consistency has always been an issue for him. It's just part of the deal with Mari. That's why I think at the start of that game. When you know, there's rightful calls for him to go to the bench for someone like, Balik, Beasley who is more stable defender. And you know, doesn't need the ball in his hands quite as much on offense. It's understandable. But with Mari as Malone said after the game like you just get a ride it out and empower him to shoot through that. Because the reward was significant I think for me charts like you wrote about Derek Whyte yesterday on the website for three quarters in that game last night and in game one white put the clamps on Murray and like in the draft that was one of my concerns with Mari. Did he have the foot speed the quick first step to get by those elite defenders like Derek? White. He's tough shot maker like Dini said. But I that's my concern moving forward for him in the series is getting him easier shot. So he's everything's not heavily contested against Derek Whyte. Yeah. I think as you're talking about consistency. Because as you said, he's not a good athlete. It's just hard from to create separation. So he's taking tough really really tough jump shots. Derek whyte? I kinda thought that would be the match up of this series. And it really feels like in those first seven quarters Spurs control because wireless that matchup. When Murray got going in the fourth at really kind of flip things adding two for Denver, really, the big adjustment. It's kind of that fourth quarter. They benched will Barton who's been horrible this whole this whole series arns been horrible, man. It's disappointing..

"Jonathan your biggest takeaway, the biggest thing you learned through the first two days of the NC double A tournament was what? That'd be a fun second and third weekend. It looks like a lot of teams are pretty good. I don't think there's any standout teams early out of top five or six they can be really fun. Final four. Hopefully. Johnson. We've been having this conversation. We're getting get into it for the remainder of the show. John Moran, in my opinion. Be better NBA player than Zion. Williamson tell me big. Or not. I've been John is really good. But I would not go that far. Now, why why not? I'm John I think Dr holes and Josh's game I used to Zion bible toss. And I think jodphurs in college. I didn't have some wholesome other MBA point guards. He's a little underside not very big. He doesn't have a great jump shot. And I think those are probably the two most important traits. These days. Yes. Recently, you wrote you wrote an article that John Mirant would be the next Russell Westbrook. What am I missing? I was thinking more in terms of like the style of place the headland. I think that the distrust the pieces, basically, I like Josh kind of in-between, I think the two feature types of point guards rookie class you have trae young. So you is like a shooting eight nine threes a game elite force baser, and you have like shake Gillis? How Alexander he just six foot six point cardigan. Switch screens jaws going be elite to one of those two categories. Jonathan it's nice to talk to you. This is Rachel Lindsay. I'm I bring her family on the bachelor party side. So it's nice to it's nice to be able to talk sports with you for a second. We were talking earlier in the show about the Zion. Cam. What do you think about that? Are you a fan of it? Do you think that it's going to affect his play moving forward in the tournament? Is it a distraction? I mean, it seems a bit much to me. It reminds me of like I want to one day found a few years ago and you're sitting like at the game. And you're watching like LeBron walk around between time outs cameras following him everywhere. It's like. Much like this guy gonna live reality TV show, kind of take a step back and enjoys game Jonathon sharks is our guest. He writes about all things college hoops for the ringer Jonathan how good a college prospect is ion Williamson really he's the best college prospect since who and when. Probably Anthony Davis. I think he's mistaken category to me in the last seven years. Anthony Davis Karl Anthony towns, and John or those three guys were like clearly players and their draft. It seems like those three guys where you draft and veterans on your roster. They're going to be your franchise player going for me. He's absolutely top of the line pasta. And I love watching the play. Jonathan when you're watching this tournament who do you think is going to be the Cinderella story in this as we move forward in March madness, or do you even think that there is one at this point? I got one for you guys. Derive cinderella. I love LSU to me like they're the perfect season. Ability suspended like everyone through. Let's not a Cinderella can. Indicted by the FBI. Made them Cinderella. Do you? Remember the story of Cinderella. Okay, back LSU is like the great story this tournament. Like, they gotta be players. They're gonna teammate die to start the season their coaches ended possibly indicted, and they're still playing basketball wasn't made. I mean, the back you up for a second Jonathan we were talking about this a little bit prior to the show. And I do think that there's this dark cloud that hangs over LSU with the whole coaching scandal. And and like you mentioned before the death of the player. And so there is a lot of distractions for the LSU Tigers, and they seem to be playing well so far throughout this tournament. But Jonathan you gotta give us more than that. You got to do better. Who else do you think you think I don't know? UC Irvine is going to take all the way or final fours. I don't know it seemed like that. When you look at the back real quick. They're pretty easy. I think to this exchange Irvine, I think that's another seat Oregon, Oregon. They play next year organs are very beatable teams Irvine do look at programs turns a very good coach in for sure. Or even a top seat that may go down because we saw yesterday what happened with Virginia. And they struggled the first half of the game. You know, is there a team that you think that is rated too high and we'll see them fall pretty early. I think you and seeing both have tough game tomorrow 'cause they're playing two-zone, right? Like Washington's Zona team Baylor's zone teams. Very tricky for higher suits, you know, like Saddam Nate with athletes like wash a half court game UNC's, very up and down Washington control to make it three point shooting contest. They have a shot tomorrow. Jonathan sharks writes about hoops for the ringer Jonathan give me give me the the player who no one's talking about that your excited about in this tournament whose name we don't know. But we probably should. I don't know what like he'd say Washington to high profile. I mean, he's he's injured. So if he comes back Kentucky tuck really good, I think he's our best player it getting the final four championship. How about Cam Johnson? Carolina. There's one there's one he's not the most high profile player on his own team. Do you think is there a chance we'd see Duke Carolina play each other in the championship game? It's one of the few things in college basketball that we've never seen. There's a good chance. I mean, they got washing tomorrow. But those those teams are pretty stacked like Cam Johnson. Kobe wine at UNC big. I really nice definite possibility. I think it's gonna be really fun. I'm extra weekends. Great stuff. Jonathan thank you for the time. Guys. Thanks, Jonathan sharks. Who writes about hoops for the ringer? I don't know. I wouldn't consider LSU is Cinderella. But it would be interesting if they made a run their up on Maryland by ten now with fifteen twenty to go in the second half because I'm not sure this is the story. The college basketball really wants to dominate their final four, right? And the big story line is that their coach was in was involved in this wiretap. Then that's what college hoops wants everybody talk. Minneapolis nineteen version of Cinderella the Jonathan salt because. The Cinderella that I know. And I know I'm dating myself. That's not LSU prince charming got indicted by the FBI and wiretap scandal. Well, the only way it would be a good story is if they allow him to come back then. Then there's something to talk about right? Not the team. GTL on ESPN radio. I'm Aaron gold hammer with Taylor twelve men and Rachel Lindsay up next. Why wasn't the will Wade situation? Speaking of LSU, a bigger deal for the Tigers is they are winning in the second round game in baby on their way to the Sweet Sixteen. You're listening on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Why? Westwood One radio network..

"Three on Friday. You gotta listen to him charge. You are the absolute best. Thanks for doing. This actually me on art. So that was Jonathan sharks. We thank him as always he's always excellent before we go on. Onto Tyler Hynes want to tell you about the NBA. Watch of the night is really. Yeah. You're clippers have a very important role. Yes. So I write this story about the Lakers and the Celtics in freefall and per usual the ringer cursory. Is it said the Lakers are still bad the Celtic? So all of a sudden are rattling off wins. Not only rattling off wins with doing. So on the road. They beat the warriors on the road to kings on the road the Lakers on the road. Now, they've got your clippers on NBA TV tonight, we need the clippers to stop their winning streak. Well, first of all is just the first part of that. The Lakers are so bad that they're beyond the ring occurs. Not even the ring occurs can bring the trove number one. I just wanted to put that out there and number two the Celtics. Did you hear our boss Bill Simmons's podcast last week? Where did I it's appointment viewing all of us here? Of course, the plays me to sleep at night, the legendary plane ride where kyri did this Powell. And now the apparently they all get along. It just took one plane ride. Only one plane ride across the country. That's the only thing they were missing, you know, they hadn't taken any plane rides. This season is the first plane ride, and they're like, we should do this more. Also, you noted in in slack because I'm constantly forgetting to give the clippers their do the clippers themselves are on a winning streak. Everyone four in a row seven of their last ten they host the Celtics this evening in Los Angeles at the staple center. I'm actually rooting for the clippers to put the Celtics back in a free fall. It's up to DOC's gang to stop the winning streak and do the Lord's works assault excite clippers on MBA TV this evening and remember gang..

"We will have Tyler tines here. So exciting. He comes in hot on slack. All the time. He comes in all the time on Twitter. He's gonna come in hot on heat check. But first we got some stuff a potpourri of topics that we need to address in for that we need our resident potpourri correspondent Jonathan sharks. Let's bring him in. Joining us on the other line. He's one of our favorites. Here. Two weeks in a row. We liked him so much we had to bring him back staff writer from the ringer corner. Three it's Jonathan sharks. What's up sharks gones of the people ask for it? You gotta give you gotta give the people what they want. Also. There was an issue with one of the heat check guests this week. And so I said we need to go to somebody who can come on immediately who can talk intelligently who knows everything about the NBA. And there's only one man to call. It was you you put the take sign up in LA came up balanced on the air got home immediately. It was perfect. So this is a good time to talk to you. Because I was saying to Isaac. I had the warriors Suns game on yesterday. Just because it was Sunday, and I was bored and it was on. But at the half, it was close, and I just turned it off because my wife had just gotten home. And I'm like, it's not gonna matter because the words are going to do what they always do which is throttle them in the third quarter. And then imagine my surprise sharks? When I check later on to find out that the warriors lost at home to the sons who were on a back to back the sons had lost. Eighteen straight to the warriors. And they had not one on the road in the Western Conference all season, all that's over. Now. That's crazy added realize their first conference road game versed Western Conference road win all season. We'll let me say I like as a married, man. Like turning off a Suns gets time with your wife was probably the right call. That was probably the right decision for you big. It wasn't really even a decision. It was kinda like Colleen came home. She was at south by south west with like, I guess half the world, and it was like, let's have a beer and hang out. And that was that. Plus it saved me from Suns basketball, though. I guess this was the interesting time to see Suns basketball. Devon Booker played lights out thirty seven points. He was nine of nine from the line, eleven assists. I left with Booker. Yes. Assists, man. He's really passed the ball. Well this year he is. And I and I've said this to you before I've said this a lot, you know, for all of the sons faults filling up the general manager former general manager's office with goats who then defecated all over at giving away players for absolutely nothing in. Turn. I like the Kokoschka has had Devon Booker in the defacto point guard role. And this idea this narrative that they'd need a point guard to go with Booker. I bet against the entire time. I like him in the heart enroll. I think they need guys who can play defense extend Booker. Yeah. That's fine by good like Patrick Beverley in there to let Booker kind of Chilin defense. I think so too. I think that'd be fine..

"Yeah, I I've liked watching them. And I'm just I'm staring at the standings right now. And I'm looking at like a Pacers pistons first round will one of the in vanity ATV. Finals. Holy shut the NBA. All right. What else have you got work? What are you working on for this week anything good? Yeah. I'm working on a big John Mirant piece trying to get to the bottom on kind of the other breakout. Song college basketball this season Jaama rant a point guard Murray state went from like a I pick the policy a top five pick. So to see what he's all about kind of breaking down his game. How projects at the NBA? This is prime time charge season. You've got the NBA regular season funneling towards the playoffs. You've got March madness. Coming up your in your glory. Yeah. I'm going into March madness on a little bit. I'm gonna probably covering that pretty hard for three weeks. And the nice thing is that ends an MBA playoffs. Start. You'll come back and you'll explain all of college basketball, tell us because I don't watch it. Hey, you gotta watch zayante guns. It's that's where I've heard of him. I I saw those shoe blown out and that was like the extent of my college basketball watching, but I get my college basketball through Moses through the corner three with you guys. And then of course, one shining podcast with tape and Titus. So I got I got all my college basketball guys, funneling me. Information. Yeah. I was saying is like college bass load ever Zion is that's a whole different thing. If he's healthy make sure to watch it. He is incredible. The while you're selling me, go read Jonathan sharks. Listen to him on the corner three on Fridays. He's excellent charge. Thanks for doing this me on. All right. That was Jonathan trucks before we get to Chris Ryan. And Dave the Greek we want to remind you about the NBA watch the night, Isaac Lee. This is your game developers at Lakers on NBA TV tonight. Could this be the final death blow to the Lakers? I'm just grinning year to year just imagining that scenario so unlike you to take shot and Freud for the Lakers here and delight in their misery. In fact, it's so unlike you even made a song about it and get a little sample. Coach. Maniacs. I would about all the money in the world that the Lakers make the playoffs. And then I would have even more money that they'd be better than the clippers. I would have no money. I've been telling everybody all year, and I told everybody last year. I was like, hey, I don't think the Lakers going to be good with LeBron. 'cause there was such a bad team last year. They went thirty five games. They they're young team in that office. Never good as we just discussed with Charkes, and I would have advise you against betting all the money. I would have bet all the money. I would have all the money because I would argue that the Cavs sucked to last year that supporting cast was horrendous aside from Kevin love, it's not like they had world leaders. I just figured LeBron would be good. But that's not true. Let this be a lesson to everybody who says the because I work in sports because anybody works sports that you must automatically know what's going to happen games. The truth of the matter is here's a little secret. Nobody knows shed. None of us have any idea. What we're doing? Nobody knows anything, but I will watch the clippers the Lakers tonight, and I guess poor one out for the Lakers because this could be the end for them clippers at Lakers or Lakers clippers it's the same place. Technically, Lakers home game. And before that it will be the mass..

"I feel like I have this bond with him. We're like I can't share that. Like, I it's it's like when the bronze covers his mouth post game was not going to say, I he was saying things I'll say this. It was like he's such a cool and super nice guy to have common and said nice things about our music, of course, which was awesome. But he's also like exactly who you'd expect. He is like if you have that image from twenty four, which at least, my image of chronic watching that he is intense and super kind, but intense, and he's definitely like actively trying to save the world. And all the things you think he's doing. I felt that to you guys are gonna do any work with him from the show get Keefer, featuring Kiefer Sutherland, you're out there if he's listening. Yeah. Are you guys writing? Yes. So this this January we've been off the road for the first time in a long time and finally been able to like it's kind of like NBA, honestly in that you really don't get time to practice. Like, I've always heard that about teams, you know, they're essentially similar to musicians they're on tour these road trips like traveling getting into the hotel at eleven PM at night, waking up early maybe get shoot around. But no practice. I'm. Yeah. And I think a big part of that is like the reality. I think a lot of people don't think about for for music touring. And it's gotta be true for these these guys as well. Doing the sports traveling's like traveling take so much out of you that that I have to imagine the last thing that these coaches would want to do is like, you know, you take a cross country flight to Portland, and you know, the teams tired waking up with the jet. Lag lasting wanna do is run a hour and a half practice up and down the court, when you know, you need every ounce of energy, you know, especially if it's a long road trip that you can't do I think for us getting back here not being on the road. We've finally been able to. Practice which is like seem so fundamental to what we do. But you really except for sound checks, drew. They don't get that much opportunity. Well house fund, but unfortunately, we're gonna kicked out of the studio. So it's all we have time for today. Thank you, Matt. Thanks for having me. Kevin. Thank you Jonathan sharks. "And joining me here back in Los Angeles Springer associate editor Danny child. I'm here ready to discuss basketball. Let's do it in Dallas, Texas. It's ringer staff writer Jonathan sharks, but some guys well along the I ready I got five AM to play basketball. And now we're talking more basketball at eleven AM central time five AM hooping already. Yeah. Normally, it's not a problem. Whether the game last night we're talking about so I'm staying up till like twelve thirty AM. So it's I'm a little bit nice right now, you're back back for you Chuck's organiz game. How was your performance? How did you do? Terrible terrible here for the workout. It's hard to play. Actual good morning. That's okay. You got to back to back. We're gonna kill it hair. Today's podcast is produced by Bobby Wagner and recording this at nine oh nine am on Friday. So we're going to get rolling talking about last night's to national TV games. And what a freaking night. It was the rockets beat the warriors one thirty five to one thirty four. On the road at oracle arena in overtime in a game. They had every excuse to fold in lose heart and got hurt early. Then look quite right. When he returned the rockets trailed by twenty early in the third quarter as the warriors were getting seemingly whatever they wanted the whole game on offense. The Moroccan Senate. Have Chris Paul Erik Gordon? Ordina the refs missed a critical foul odd bounds. Play on Kevin Durant in the final minute of overtime. Houston had every reason to lose. And despite all that Danny harder and led the rockets the victory with forty four points, fifteen assists, ten rebounds clutch shot after shot. One big pass after another all culminating in the filthy filthy game winning shot with two hands in his face. Danny. This was hardens regular season masterpiece. Yeah. It it's hard to argue against that. I mean, I watched him drop a fifty point triple double on New Year's Eve, I think last year or a couple of years ago. I remember that. But that was. But that was against the Knicks, right? Yeah. Was the next. So yeah, I mean this game was it had all the stakes. It had the national TV audience on it. And there was so much hype building up to this performance. Because of what harden has done over the past ten games over his last twelve he's averaged forty point one points, nine assists, six point six rebounds with a sixty four true shooting percentage rockets are eleven and won over that stretch. They want from the fourteen seed to the four seed sharks. I'll make anybody could have seen this coming from hardened despite the fact that he's been doing this for for years now that this is on another level what we've seen. Yeah. He's just kind of taking what he's always done and he's taking like one extra step further. So really to me where it changes when Chris Paul went down the hamstring six games against Miami. And the last six games, he's averaging forty two, but he's taking eighteen threes a game, and he took twenty three against Golden State last night. Which is the. Yeah. The records twenty four right behind Klay Thompson. Right ahead of JR Smith who had twenty two a couple of years back. Yes. So the record in a season is like right now it staff at eleven point two and he's taking like fifty percent more threes than that in this stretch. Yeah. I I don't know what to say. They're like, I think sharks had pretty much the perfect explainer for what this could potentially mean for the future of the NBA. He wrote a great piece on her time on Thursday, not have been better timed with that game coming in than the performance aren't ahead chart. Stephen you could just kind of sum up the gist of what you're trying to say in that piece. I think it's just like by taking so many threes hardened just raising the ceiling for his what he can do because we talked about in this game. He didn't even start off all that. Well, he just kept ads like the old thing about the Spurs. Are like, oh, we're pounding the rock like hard. Just like pound the step back three like to me that shot like batch shy is changing the game..

"Every week by our steamed producer Isaac Isaac. We are separated. Once again, you're Angeles. I am in Philadelphia on the road. I was on a jet plane emergency dispatched me for Jimmy Butler. So I'm here working on that. And I got off the plane, homey. And there was snow, and I was like, oh, yeah. They they still do that on the east coast. They still have snow here. What is that? Yeah. Exactly. And because I live in Los Angeles. I was ill prepared. I do not own a coat, and I had like running sneakers on it was as as storms, go not prepared. Basically what you're saying is you're soft. Yeah. I was never hard. So let's just to be clear on that. I was I've always been soft. I'm just softer now. But so I'm in Philadelphia. There's a lot going on here, which we will certainly get into. We also, of course, before we get into all that want to remind everybody to please rate and review us in all of our fantastic ringer NBA shows and positive. Thank you as well. For listening to us. And thank you for patronizing us on the ringer dot com. We have lots. Great excellent NBA content going on right now. We have a story up shortly about the wizards. Apparently putting everybody on the block. Finally, Ernie Grunfeld got around to that Palou Getty. Also has a story on LeBron flipping the switch earlier than usual. And he has got another one about how the warriors can get the group back Powell's everywhere. Dan, Devine wrote about the surprisingly fund grizzlies Jonathan sharks wrote about the rockets and how they've righted their ship and KFC has a great piece on the next teen could make a bold move sort of like how the Sixers rejected the roster almost set the Phillies, my Philadelphia brain is all kinds of mush right now. And of course, desktop that's top killed that last week. You've gotta see Verno singing a song. Incredible. It was incredible. It was absolutely incredible. Oh, and by the way, speaking of incredible ringer videos. You have to check out is it. Cutting Roger sherman's hair. My man. I think I might let you cut my hair I need to trim. It was definitely the weirdest thing. I've ever done. I think it was towing the line between good contents and HR violating. So definitely check that out if anything just for the weirdness of it check that out check out all those stories later on in the show. We're going to have Jonathan sharks to talk about the Western Conference with us because the standings are crazy. Everything's in flocks, the west is absolutely wild. But the east is just as wild as I mentioned, the wizards dough and the Sixers are doing stuff so for all of our east coast needs we need an east coast. Correspondent let's bring him in..

"Austin rivers shea was in Los Angeles for the first time since daddy and his group traded his ass out of Los Angeles. And the clippers bless them. I can't say this enough. Like, it was really amazing. They did a tribute video to Austin rivers last night shy. They should have I like Isaac. Am very pro Austin rivers guy. Yeah. Isaac loves them. If for no other reason than the series when the clippers play the rockets in the play offs and he hit two shots. And then he started doing James harden cooking celebration. I like that kind of player. I like that he had the whole dad thing going on and people were questioning whether he deserved to be in the league or not like he's a fighter and he's gonna do all the stuff you need to do. I love. Survivors. I we should do a whole Austin podcast one day, we need to do in Austin rivers podcast. I was saying to Isaac Shay that when the video came on like the clippers were nice about it. Right. They put like an actual Austin rivers tribute video together. But I was hoping that they would have been a little bit more truly about it. Do you? Remember have you ever seen the video of shortly after Austin rivers landed with the clippers Blake Griffin did an Austin rivers impersonation? Do you ever see that video? They should just put that up as the tribute video encourage everybody who has Google because it's it's got damn hilarious. Maybe next time when he comes back shea Serano, your excellent anything that you want to plug anything. What do you got coming up? "Worst case series preview each of the thirty teams as well as jogging follows a went to LeBron James media Danes. I with the Lakers and we're all trying to grapple with how weird it looks to see LeBron the Lakers jersey, and this is an important part of the healing process as far as that goes. But we're not gonna talk about LeBron here. We're gonna talk about baseball with two of our favorite baseball writers that cramming Ben limber first up, here's that cram sodas by distinct pleasure to I say, disdain. Inked pleasure a lot. I need to come up with a new, a new intro, but whatever the intro it is, my pleasure to introduce newly minted staff writers at cram sack. Hello. We're gonna dole out some awards, I guess, is the best way to to talk about this kind of where we got this idea talking about sort of an all ringer team to honor players in two thousand eighteen who might not contend for like the actual MVP awards. The some of the players will name will contend for end of season hardware, but just players who have captured imagination and fascinated us and who we've talked about both on the pod and just in the office on slack allot who we don't wanna forget really fascinated us in two thousand eighteen. Yeah, we had there is a some somebody posted, Chris Archer said that Blake Snell oughta get MVP consideration. Somebody posted that in slack last Friday and that I've been thinking about nothing else as you will ever since as you. Might notice by listening to this podcast and reading my column that's gonna come out tomorrow because it's this is something that's always bugged me. It's people saying in the conversation by way of saying, hey, this guy probably isn't going to win the MVP or win the Cy Young. He's having a great season out, you know, I want people to pay attention to it and there there needs to be. There ought to be a better way. And so I think it was Jonathan sharks raised the idea of all MLB team, which we sort of adapted to the all ringer team, which is we've Mallon I did something sort of like this around the all star break in two thousand sixteen. So there might be some overlap between this team and and and that team. But this is players that we have found fascinating that we've discussed a lot or we feel I have a certain Judas say, Sekwa that that deserve recognition, and they're probably just looking at the list of people we've got. There will be very little overlap between the players. Onless let this. List end the players probably on the top half of MVP and Cy Young ballots. So do you wanna start? Sure the catcher in our list the the first one. I think easiest selection for us the the patron Saint of the ringer team in two thousand eighteen is twins catcher Williams, STO catcher, basically every position besides shortstop and even there, I think I saw tweet that he was taking grounders at short the other day so he could have fit in as our utility man, but Asser DO just everything about him as delightful and speaks to kind of what we were talking about last week is the fun of a September. Baseball watch is watching players like this, be able to come up and make an impact studio is hitting three thirty eight, but that's not what makes us love him..

"The ringer and now jonathan sharks word about jonathan isaac the first one break the magic erse roger sherman wrote a really funny piece about the movie set it up on netflix and the fact that lucy liu is a sports media empire co slash person and all the flaws in whatever they turned him with that when we have an oral history and stepbrothers which is also going to be the rewatch ables for this week check that out and who the next nfl's next legion of boom but danny kelly just a whole bunch of awesome stuff including a big feature by dave hill about a cockfighting ring raid that upended a small town that happened check it out the ring dot com coming up chuck close german i program chuck close to on the line it's been a couple of months a lot of things have happened workers have have carved into dominance i dunno chuck like saturn lebron has towle the world cup is happening and we're gonna talk about chappaquiddick later because we were both fascinated by chappaquiddick let's start with the warriors now people are saying this is bad for the nba to have a dominant team this sucks which your take well you know i heard it was a real great nba season like a lot of people did i think you know the as a kind of unschooled it was real interesting but it is strange how the end of the year was exactly what everyone's would happen in october that would be the warriors playing the cavs and the warriors i don't think it's bad for the league to you now i like when there's i like watching great basketball like watching great basketball teams i like having really good teams i would rather have dominant teams i think what sucked was probably probably that round two range it felt it just felt there was a lot of time between games there wasn't a lot of excitement and there just seem like for about seventeen eighteen days there the nba was that much fun but i the houston golden state series was really a compelling thought and celtics cavs was to and then we ended you know the finals was what it was it turned on the first game it won't mean the whole i thought the east playoffs good the hallway true the west playoffs i mean yeah i know what you're saying but i mean that can happen regardless of how the talented stupid i i don't know of people i mean it's something to talk about the they like is this good or is this bad i guess you know i think that the thing that disturbing people maybe a little bit i don't think they're cutting even know if they're conscious of this but i think that it's hard for people particularly in the united states to get used to professional sports league with the players run everything yeah i mean it's weird that this happens like this was not even fifteen can continues ago didn't seem possible and now you know it's the players have all this agency and the money is so massive that guy can take a lot less than they could potentially earn and it still like it has almost how do you even visually im imagine like how do you magin the difference between two hundred eight million in one hundred seventy nine million if you know it's like wh what you how do you look at those things and say oh well you know i can't give up you know twenty six million dollars or whatever but he can in this scenario it's like it it's almost an abstraction so you know when i heard cousins was going to the warriors as i i was like this getting weird now but it totally makes sense he's not gonna play for a long time isn't even necessarily going to be the best move for them like i could i can absolutely see scenario where he's healthy.

"Up through the trade deadline right because keeping post trade deadline precisely time in the nba all right it's like five lifetimes that is that's true i can happen between now and next season's trade deadline clippers come in at third at plus one thousand along with the cavaliers a plus one thousand and that scenario i don't know if the plus thousand cavaliers still have lebron or don't i think if if you're if you're y though and you're trying to leverage a move to los angeles and you end up on the clippers that's like careful what you wish for that's kind of a bummer that would be very funny i would really laugh a lot here's the here's betting that one i do like the cleveland one a little bit i think this is the one i like the most and it makes me wanna pull my hair out plus twelve hundred celtics they've got so many assets to move yeah it's true i mean they're they're legit i it made me berry upset jonathan sharks article last week on the celtics ability to to persuade lebron to come and it just makes too much sense this is the thing i hate the celtics immune it is now it's not really because of the rivalry is just old dna hate right because of you know in the eighties i grew up rooting against them my beloved bullets could never get over top of the celtics and then you know was up in new england for college all this mass whole surrounding me seriously and now they've so perfectly constructed this and saying i mean honestly here's really interesting thing i wouldn't be surprised i feel i kyra ving expendable to the celtics i mean could i never plays a full nba season need him for the playoffs not playing in the play offs kind of an expendable resource with all the young talent that they have on under contract and he's up for another massive deal and you've got i mean look this is the the happy problem for the celtics when you consider hey would maybe move kyri or would we may be move gordon hayward or i mean i think the.

"The rundown on boston herald radio joined now by jonathan sharks of the ringer can be followed on twitter at jonathan and i'll spell his last name t j a r k s is recent column on the ringer lebron's terrifyingly plausible path to boston jonathan thanks so much for joining us good afternoon we're doing okay i'm the big lebron james fan not just in the studio but in all of new england i think i've been voted at the biggest lebron fan so when i saw your piece i'm like that sounds really cool i wanna see my favorite player playing for the boston celtics what would that path b in how possible is it i'm so essentially lebron were often do his contract like chris paul did last year with the clippers and then he'd be traded to the celtics and put together a package based on either tyree or gordon hayward pretty marcus morris guys like that they were able to do that it would be it wouldn't be kyri irving and gordon hayward because then the salaries it'd be one with say yeah marcus morris was one name i with route with kyrie irving and you go from there and then he signs a contract here but the problem that look adding lebron james d team makes it a better team but the problem is always been with these shorter contracts signed in the past could you see that being a roadblock a bronco fan he has a lot of we'll go somewhere else i mean if boston right.

"Like a lot of boston celtics fans there been lebron yeah dyedinthewool hatred of him yeah i mean i don't know i think the nba people they don't like boston but they'd be excited about lebron got it in your estimate now what would you put the odds of something like that happening a signing trade whether be with the celtics or another team do you think that's how lebron joins potentially the rockets or any other teams using the size sign and trade is the most likely scenario or do you think he just no white signed somewhere camping i think he lived on the league unless he goes to lakers anywhere else anywhere else where he could go on trade valuable gives you off yeah because obviously cleveland would be in the market to try to get something back in return you can't just lose that player and get nothing back in return in numbers after work it's not that easy in the nba to pull something like this off because of the contracts have to work about how these guys make doable almost johnson we obviously we talked about the celtics for base in boston so that's the interesting thing but a lot of other teams have been floated out there as potential suitors lebron james including the nba champion golden state warriors what do you where do you rank the teams in terms of their likelihood to get lebron who's your who's your favorite right now and who's potentially darkhorse said he could go to me either look i'm a week against the kind of depends on what lebron wants i don't know me talking about it son family he's looking very different i can only by my basketball perspective perspective it seems like houston in la paul george andrew coli leonard boston's really with them being i think those are the fourteen die think seem to be the path which would jonathan sharks of the ringer again his piece on the ringer lebron's terrifyingly plausible path to boston jonathan it's almost like sometimes he surprises us where he may go i was surprised for years ago they decided to go to cleveland and and people talk about that he hasn't really made up his mind but he has a close friend and dwayne wade who says that he.
