Chris Christie: Being Indicted Is Not Good for Any Political Candidate
"It's a little bit of what it's kind of what former New Jersey governor Chris Christie said to Jonathan Karl on ABC this week yesterday. No matter what he says and his people say, being indicted is not good for a political candidate. Like, that's just, you know, he can get some short term bump among certain parts of our own party. But in the end, it's not good to be indicted. Now, we're not going to see a trial here, probably until early 2024. And so we won't see what the result is, but he's got other things, it's kind of like trying to land at Newark airport on a Friday. You got a bunch of planes circling, and you don't know when exactly they're going to land. And if they land when they're going to have a gate, you know, but it's coming and being indicted the public does still look at that. And say, that's not what should be happening to a national leader. Incidentally, Chris Christie sort of blows off the fact that the timing will include a lot of the trials stuff unfolding in 2024. Well, that's the whole point, isn't it? That's the election year. We'll be smack dab in the middle of the election. And that's the goal. It may be that the American people are going to come and I'm not there yet and I don't count me out. I'm not bailing on Donald Trump in any way, shape, or form. But it might be that the American people are going to come to the conclusion that all of the stuff they're throwing at Trump is going to effectively preclude him from having a chance of winning next year.

How can that be a winning strategy. Whatever he says goes so you saw that. Nothing made it more clear than the house. Gop whip steve scalise going on tv. The sunday after his visit mar-a-lago where apparently they just talked about their families and how chill and relaxed. The president has been in his post presidency period at his resort and he just could not bring himself to say that this was a free and fair election. He said yes. Legitimately biden one when he was pressed by jonathan karl of abc news because elector said that on december fourteenth basically. He said a lot of sing. Swing states just didn't follow their own state laws and a lot of people are very concerned so what you do is instead of spreading the big lie. You never defy trump. You never disavow it and you never spell it you sit and you never discuss. How pernicious and dangerous. It is liz cheney and adam her and others have you just sort of try to circle around it because quote your constituents buy into it. And that's what's gonna keep you in trump's orbit if you want to keep your job in twenty twenty two. Matt voters have a funny way of kind of market testing ideas on their own and figuring out what. And what's gonna fly. How is this gonna fly especially in republican tightly contested suburban races two years from now. Well i think it does well in republican primaries. So i think that's the issue and that's the real problem for the republicans right now. They know that. Donald trump tests eighty eighty five percent popularity among the voters at will participate in republican primaries even in republican primaries in purple states or in suburban districts. That are swing districts. The problem is every time they venture into capturing that republican primary voth it more and more offense the people in the general election so it gets okay in a red state or deep red district to do that but when you start to try to win in suburban areas around houston suburban areas around dallas suburban areas in michigan suburban areas in california. It becomes exceedingly problematic. An i think that's the problem there in though it doesn't seem like they're in any way trying to confront that general election problem that they just keep pushing that often it's somehow they think is going to solve itself. It's almost as if they're going through this primary. They did in two thousand fifteen in twenty sixteen where they thought that donald trump problem would salve itself or he would peter out or nobody would deal within or somebody else would handle it and they didn't have to and then what they ended up having donald trump the republican nominee and then donald trump the republican president and now donald trump the republican president. So i do think it's his party. I don't think there's any question anymore that it's donald. The drill pay party is now the trump party and everything that donald trump does from town to what he cares about to. The conspiracy pushes is the republican party.

So we're obviously watching what's going on What's going down in Georgia? We do not know the results, obviously, at this point, but we do know it is definitely one for the history books. Not only is it one of the most expensive state races, I think it might be the most expensive state race that we've ever seen. But it's also a massive number of early voters came out three million. Right now. I'm looking at a couple of the different networks, and they seem to have a few different numbers, but we're looking at about 63% of the precincts reporting that's pretty good for right now, Um John Ausaf on the Democratic side is leading. Wow, I'm looking at Fox News Right now. He's tied with David Perdue, the Republican senator. Um, that is on Fox News. Now I'm looking over at, uh, Let's see, I'm looking over at CNN. It's got Jonah stuff by 50.3. And he's just leading by a little bit. So obviously it's too close to call at this point. If Ausaf wins, he's gonna be the youngest senator in history, so that's pretty interesting to also in the special Senate election. Democrat Raphael Warnock. Is leading 50.3% over Kelly Leffler, Um so she is trailing by a bit. So here's how it's gonna break down if you are following this, you know that if both Democrats win tonight, They get 50 seats with Kamila Harris breaking a 50 50 ties, So we all know where that's going to go. However, if either of the publicans when they're going to keep the Senate we're going to delve into the details of the Georgia situation in just a minute. But first I want to hit up what's trending tonight around the world. Let's start down in D. C. Thousands of campers Trumpers are camping out, actually. They're protesting the election. Like I said, there's going to be a big event tomorrow of Rudy Giuliani will be there and the president will speak there the mood as I see the different networks covering it, it looks fairly jubilant right now. Massive trump turnout, But there are rumblings and rumors already vice president. Pence apparently was not swayed. He went to lunch today with President Trump, and he wasn't swayed. By the president. And I'm sure the president if you heard the call down to the secretary of state in Georgia, he this quite persuasive At times. It sounds, though, according to ABC is Jonathan Karl. That Pence will defy Trump. Those are Karl's words and announced tomorrow during the joint session of Congress that Biden won the Electoral college and that Officially he has won the presidency. But you know, obviously, things can change. I know that there's some other reports. Maggie Haberman from The New York Times says that Biden are rather Pence told the president that he was going to See how things evolve over the night and see what happens before that one o'clock event. So in the meantime, another event happened down in D. C. The leader of that all right group. The problem. Oise will not be hanging with this fellow Fred Perry polo wearing comrades down there. Just a few hours ago, A judge banned the guy from D C. Like Not you're not. You know, you can't show up to a protest like you cannot come inside the city limits. Hey, got a little trouble in a little trouble. If you heard recently with the law a few weeks ago, when he grabbed during protests, he grabbed a Black lives matter. Banner off a church. It's the church's property. He destroyed the banner. And, of course, all hell broke. Listen. You know what happened after that? So this proud boys leader not allowed into D? C. I wonder how they're gonna keep him out. Um Let's go to Virginia. Now. Holly's bunch of hooey. This is the Missouri senator. And, Well, first of all, you know that he caused a ruckus. You probably remember this. Just I don't know, Six or so days ago when he was the first in the Senate to announce that he wouldn't accept. The electoral college results, All right, so that pistol lot of people off it. It made a lot of people very happy. So last night, he sends out a tweet, and he claimed that while he was up in Missouri And his family. His wife and his his baby are down there in Virginia, one of the suburbs there. They were set upon quote at their home by Antifa scumbags, and he says they threatened his wife and baby. They vandalized his house. And even tried to break the door down, which is horrible. I mean horrific, but apparently it's also not quite true. According to the police there in Vienna, Virginia, Lovely little town. I actually went to high school. I was in McLean, Virginia, according to the police, though the protesters were peaceful. There were no issues. There were no arrests on according this is actually a quote from the police boss.
