Into full spoiler territory with Lucille. O'Brien my have numbers with me, but more importantly I'm sorry, Lucy you don't have the highest honor this episode because we are joined by Neil Druckman and Halley, gross naughty dog for the last of US partout. Thank you both so much for being here and speaking with us today. They have. So the. House he twenty twenty being guys. Around. Warring Year of my life. Nothing. Much of note has happened this year. Definitely, so we'll. We'll try to find something to talk about this episode. I know Lucienne myself both have a ton that we want to ask you about and talk about with certain as much as I'd love to spend the next thirty minutes exclusively. Honoring the memory of Shimmer <hes>, there are some conversations I do. WanNa get into and I. WE WE ARE GONNA go into spoiler, so it's going to get there. I Will Get National Story Beats. I promise but I did want to talk about. The I think just jumping right into the structure of the story for me would be a really interesting place to start because Neil you and I spoke a little bit before the game came out, and we talked a bit about <hes> sort of how the structure of the game chain through development, and I was sort of curious. If you could both talk about <hes>, you know primarily, we have this sort of <hes> to factor story of the first half, really focusing on Elliot's journey, and then the second half focusing on Abbey's journey mostly in Seattle, but a little bit Jackson. How how did that story flow evolve? As you began to crack the story in figure out what you wanted to both explore? Whatever we had this kind of concept of constructive story about empathy by seeing two sides of a conflict. We had the two sides, but they are kind of distribution was different. Initially, this game was going to be open world with several different hubs. And the original was going to be playing abby. Some back story on her and her friends attack. They get rescued by Joel and Tommy and get. A. Help into Jackson and you spent a while in Jackson doing missions before some critical point, or you would reveal who she is as you would be struggling with this choice and kill Joel in annual take on his Elliott going on this journey to Seattle become the second hub of trying to find all these people in them. Eventually Confront Abby. But then as we were putting the story together, just filled with with the game, we were trying to make historic trying to tell with characters. We had our disposal. It didn't make sense for it to be open, moral and those. Aspects felt like there to conflict, and that's when really around the time like Halley, came on and kind of talk high level about the goals of what we're trying to do. And then it became more wide linear with some kind of more open areas <hes>, but where we try to get to the inciting incident much more quickly, which is the death of all, and then get on with the journey, and then some point midway through switch perspectives to show Abbey set store. I don't remember yeah funny. You brought back the open world thing I don't like all right. The first like three weeks of my time at naughty dog were just like. Can we make it open world and like trying to make that work, and then realizing how much it sort of. Screws with steaks and tension building, and so we. We moved off of that, but we really played with structure. I mean throughout the entire process, so yes, the game is currently divided between largely between I. Steph Ellie second-half Abbey, but. We entertained. Inter cutting. We entertained moving parts around the flashbacks of all move I mean. The living thing this game. Yeah! I can't imagine it being an open wells. I think you're right because it is. It's source structured in a way that every every <unk> resumes when you're in an open world game, you're constantly distracted by this. Because they distracted by this little fitch quest, catch, seven chickens or something, <hes> concert imagined that interrupting the story so ultimately pleased that you went in the direction that you winton. Is Is there any sort of part of me. That thinks Oh God okay. The loss of story could be told in an open world setting. Yes, and I think we. The design team actually came with a bunch of interesting. Aspects to play in the world in open world setting and adjust. All while those ideas were interesting and provocative, they didn't fit. The characters were playing. I don't WanNa get into specifics. Wherever use any of those ideas? But it just <unk> too many things one concert each other. We have to make some hard choices as far as what game game we WANNA make. As, you're saying that the beginning. It came down to this <hes> idea of seeing empathy and telling that from two different sides and obviously something to preserve stories spoilers in where the story would go, because it does really demand, be played, I feel. It started out as you know on a like a product facing way a story about revenge. Why did? Though at the end of the day, wanting to really get down to empathy in this world, be sort of the catalyst for your interest in the story. I think that was the emotional core of what we were after. In targeted through and trying to figure out what is conflict about it? It was really to show. How Simonis characters are and how much conflict and so much of this for myself, I think the team is inspired by real world events where you have sides of conflict, and you see how they often dehumanized the other side to justify atrocious behavior. and. We felt through game. Play the putting in the shoes of Elliot to get you to fee, also ask certain feelings and put you in the second half of the game and through empathy through. Seeing the consequences, not just what you've done, but like what you've taken away. From his people get you to reflect on it. And that was kind of like what we were always after. I cannot track of of of your question. I just curious sort of of the. Sort of. Subverting that expectation, because so many of us went in expecting a revenge story, but I do things that I've taken away the most that empathy and that love and that care. That's the thing which is like maybe to a fault. We tried so hard to protect the experience players experience. We've done with the first game. I thought it was a great episode. We talked about a bunch of stuff and unfortunately due to some technical issues we lost the episode two but Louis Pods like it was so much great discussion so many great jokes going to hear it to the annals of time it's such a shame especially they'll never hear my rendition of holding out for a hero which I use to open the show. It was pretty great but I promise I would never do it again. As ethnic during the show you remember so well one time thing one time one time one time only and no one will ever hear but of course we do have plenty to talk about sorry they wanna get to it. I do want to mention at the time of this. This'll probably be a sugar episode. Do those technical limitations but we do have plenty of last of us are to to talk about. Well I can't tell you whether or not you should want to not wait or not. But you'll have to wait for my impressions till then but we can talk about is of course the state of play and the recent sort of inside the last of us videos that coming out. We delayed recording the episode this week. Of course to talk about the state of play. We got roughly a twenty minute deep dive into the sequel For those who didn't watch Did Washington the livestream? This is funny the basically saying the same stuff we did this morning. I definitely would recommend going to check out the four K. Like now uploaded version of the video on Youtube. Like if you watch the livestream. It just isn't the same qualities watching pretty gorgeous. Game play on the video as it has in the final player of what we got was a sort of overview of the mechanics. The story of the world a setting the stage by Neil Druckman the director of the game. And then a sort of eight minute chunk of gameplay that was following Ellie three whole SORTA scenario since I'm not wanting to blur the lines of what I can't say but for now. Lay Gimme a sort of overview and then we can get into the nitty gritty of it. How did you feel about the state of play showcase for the last love I it was? It was definitely the most impressive state of play for me. Pencil. A just the way it was presented by Neil And presented with a great deal of compassion by Neil considering the Times that we're in which I really appreciated And it was it was it. Was appropriate like hype. Reveal the not much to reveal obviously Iran noses game exists but like they showed intensive the for we will give it about the world and how you terrific CETERA. It really felt like I was in the crowd at an at an eighth shirk ace and the Made Light. That is kind of off for really from a state of play. I felt it was it was. It was really really really really great. Yeah that just brought to mind. Norfolk wants to talk about when I at this glad. I'm doing it here I back when I was in college. I we buy into a few threes by using school newspaper. And I got to go to this Sony. Press conference I believe where they did. The last one demo which was Joel basically going in and out of the apartment building and speaking around in that brutal showcase ended with I forget who was doing it But they finished it and they were like a real like power stance holding the controller and they dropped the controller like mic drop dead and walked off stage at the final kill and this game play sequence though evoked a lot of the same moment of like the you know to where we over a lot of the industry does but like the visceral nature of this cop out like this the sequel really seems to be leaning into the every little moment is going to matter. Every moment wants to be evocative whether it's gruesome brutal. Or you know by the skin of your teeth you use TV escape. Every little bit wants to be impactful which is ambitious but seems to be paying off in that demo. Yeah like I feel like I'm going to need to go for a massive run and then like sink three whiskeys before I stop playing this game. You know what I mean. I'm going to have to get some sort of energy out of me into the be in a very kind of calm head. Space in order the Because it does. It's we've always known that the lost of US Brutally unforgiving well Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah. But again. I always forget that these characters that I love Massive shakes I do really care about the face of these characters. I do really care about what happens to the majority that they go on and I think one of the most profound moments for me in this particular demo was win l. e. the Veto would be working woman. She will fit forever. The immobilisers woman playing hotline Miami on a station Vita before the last thing she does west gets killed. How did die playing me? All that's heartbreaking on so many levels I'm sure it's how Greg Miller wants to go out one of the moments. That really reminded me of the series kind of eating hot. You know it's it's it's humanity Is when Ellie does stabbed this woman in the neck and it's it's gross in of sudden it's easy and the whole tussle is sort of frustrating. You know any kind of since. La's frustration in that moment. And she says that was dumb. Like you know something like that was. That was really stupid. That was really don and like yes that that whole thing was dominoes on. This area was like that that women didn't need to to try to turn around and try and kill Ellie like it was also unnecessary. Wholesome scenario seems frustrating and it was also like the way she said it was kind of like placing it's been used like it was slightly like bleakly. Funny you know and it just again. It just reminded me of L. E. is this is Ellie. I flipped I got like she. She is she is funny. She is You know there is so much of humanity tour. She's like despite the fact that she's very much being presented as like a much much more. I don't WanNa say cold-blooded but I guess there's no other word for it. It's Been a Super Busy Week for the Switch

"Welcome to Nintendo voice chat My name is Tom Marks temporary host again this week joining me today is Mr Brennan Graber Hey what's up and Mr Jonathan Dornbush hey just give us a minute all right yeah give it some time let will grow on you this episode four seventy nine it's kind of weird week this week because there's much going on we're getting into the busy fall season so a pair isn't here. Brian is busy with a preview Casey just got back from Japan shoes at Nintendo Live Zach is in La Janet is in Seattle it's just like everyone is when we wish him well there but yeah a busy busy week so I got some good good friends we're going to be we've got a good show for you still we're GONNA be talking about some recent news older there's not a ton this week we're also talking about a would there has been attend this week is review news so we're GONNA be talking about recent reviews for switch or the biggest ones of this week sorry Jonathan did you have a point to make up oh thumbs up even a thumbs up domino is off to a great start already got a busy week for releases there's a lot coming out so be sure to stick around we just got a lot of great stuff talk about this laid back episode and for the first thing we want to talk about let's talk to start jumping in with with news because there's there's not a ton but there are some cool things to discuss here the first being I feel like it's become a weekly tradition on this show Tuesday hey there's new pokemon stuff were in that cycle where there unreleased things every week they're really getting people going hype and people up by adding just need a little bits and pieces this week we got fat peak itchy Cha end long mouth hand along we also got a weird flaming charred I think somebody pointed out this is the fourth alternate a fourth version because there's the charred mega ex mega y and then now this guy which is gigantic Max journalists more than Lynn and farm heroes game your summer chart here's a winter charges charter just having like an identity crisis trying to figure out like who's the true Char's are I think people I just really like buying Char's dragon yeah people like charter charter school so these gigantic tax forms which basically means if certain pokemon that dynamex which means getting really big if you have a and this is the weird thing a specific po come on that can gigantic Max will show up with a different look to the so pika chew if you have data and this is the kind of interesting to me if you have data from let's go Pika Chew you can transfer that and get a p get you bet gigantic Max's into this very fat Pika Chew reminiscent of its first Iteration Husky boy yeah like pokemon yellow box art yeah yeah exactly similarly if you have data from let's go easy you get this very flu fee ev that gigantic taxes lucky boy yeah there's also chart I don't think they mentioned how you get that charge hard if you have let's go with the mouth is not exactly like a preorder bonus it's like if you play at the beginning of the game klay early you get this meow that will turn into basically long we had like mystery gifts that they would send out a mail and so it's probably me some of them like hey tune in for the next two months to get your you know crazy haunts the forearms right answers Cuban who's always not depressed finally happy happy it would be the saddest thing to skulls the other thing they showed was butter free that just kind of look like it had bigger prettier wings so it'll be interesting to see I like that they're doing ask that they're shaking up the the Dinah maxing tickets flavor yeah nice yeah it's not just we took the model and we stretched a right it was my worry when they showed that something like it's just GonNa look weird doing fun stuff with it especially when you're introducing a new thing that all of the previous pokemon generation and have added bells and whistles and tried to shake things up especially recently when it comes to battles but there can always be a little bit of trepidation so I think giving this nice visual incentive to for yeah to get something different out of it I like a lot I don't necessarily think it's going to convince any of the people who were not convinced by dynamex her show but it it at least is a nice little added touch it's interesting to see this this thing where it's like only specific only this mouth can do this only this Pika chew that is from the let's go peek data can do this not just any Piquiachu that's an interesting little mechanic that they're adding in the other thing I wanted to call out is our very own Janika who's away right now did a hands on preview gone up as a Thursday morning when we posted this show she got to play the first ninety minutes of Sword Shield and did a big old hands on on so go check out I G M dot com to read her thoughts on on her time with game after having spent some actually significant time with because we have played at three but it was just real brief of a gym yeah it was simple and so she she got some genuine time from what I hear is a major player in this game yeah as blue should be but yeah I talked to Janet a bit too not to like speak on her behalf please go check out our preview but yeah as she was telling me about what she saw she seemed pretty positive on like the things it's maintaining but also trying to off the formula right she caught it I think she called it like their most ambitious game in the series which is cool here adding digital we'll do that go straight to I'm telling you early in the first five minutes I will roll you out of here on that very easy on this floor it really is it's very slippy you guys don't see this but we fight a battle every moment on this show now just not slipping away from that so yeah go check out our program on previous preview on Dot com right now another of news that dropped that I was really interested to see God people more excited than I was expecting manufacturable analog who are known for making these super not which is a system that hardware emulates so that you can play Super Nintendo Games on it it's not essentially it mimics a super nintendo oh to play Super Nintendo games properly but you still need the game right you still need the games they're very against emulating games they WANNA make hardware that will run those games they just announced something called the analog pocket which is looks like a fancy little gameboy pretty much and it will play Gameboy Games game boy color games and homeboy advanced games and you again you need the cartridges this is actually playing these things but it'll play these systems or these games just out of the gate you just plug in the Trajan works except it has three point five inch LCD screen that's sixteen hundred by fourteen forty resolution and the whole thing is to hun everydollar what excited I do have a an sp on my desk that cannot hold a charge for battery I lost the chargers it and I really WanNa play one of the Games but I can't so this is like ooh this could be a workaround that will be nice the one thing I'm kind of like if the design it's making that that original gameboy look but it's a lot more sleeker but I would have almost wanted a an SP version or an advanced version words or horizontal vertical right I mean DSP is the undisputed best game boy so I my gameboy advance S. P. it's one of my great childhood tragedies that I had to throw it out at some point in a move yeah I like the design of how sleek it is but I don't know if I will buy it for two hundred dollars mostly because like my gameboy advance S. P. I don't have any of my gameboy library anymore right and that's like the big sticking point for me is like if these games are more easily accessible in a legal way to buy and obviously you know a lot of game stops and other stores have older libraries but man I would play so many of my old games like I spent so much time on my gameboy advance foundational to my love of games but this is a really cool tool for collectors or people held onto all these things to play these games easily on a piece of tack that's not you know decades old at this time and the really nice for yeah so this is another the thing is this is coming in two thousand twenty some time and it's going to have a separate thing that you can buy also that is a doc like the switch where you can plug your gameboy game into the analog pocket and then you plug the analog pocket into a doc and you can connect a bluetooth controller to that and then play your game boy color or Gameboy advance or gameboy games on a t we like a switch basically it's much more elegantly than the Gamecube gameboy adapter young into the bottom of the system. So funny I still have one of those I I had service yeah so goofy yes so that's it I mean I don't know if I'd ever want to play a game boy game on a four K. TV but it's cool that they're just taking that extremely accessible to do yeah yeah I think like ten game boy games on me so the price point is an issue boy also have pairs giant Goodie bag true game boy games steel for oil there's just get a bag of game boy games in a pile and like picking one out it's like oh wow castle or like oh well beauty and the beast for gameboy color copies of Sri Castle the castle real I didn't know this was a thing way back yeah oh teddy release system the Gameboy back the analog pocket you can check it out for yourself we've got more details on Jan well it's very it's very cool I just like elected they're doing this I I really appreciate analog doing stuff even if the price point is our above the range that I would be paying WanNa pay for it it's a it's still going to be really nice thing for the people who do go after that and can't afford it price point like I understand it especially for the people who probably do have collections and are like willing to shell out because of how useful and modern of piece of equipment this is moving on there's a couple of other things sonic is coming to super monkey ball banana blitz hd this is the master of the we

"Beyond and hello everyone my name is Jonathan Dornbush and this is i._G._A.. Weekly playstation show podcast beyond episode five hundred right and ninety eight. We are so close to episode six hundred my name of course as I mentioned Jonathan I'm joined this week by Brian Boitano beyond Max Scoville happy to be your on time for why now it's amazing just here in general. It's good to have you here. It's fine. Don't just let them have this woman. I didn't show up like in the middle of the show and had to sit in the corner seat. The bad kid that's true. Yes the punishment seat. You're late from the beginning this time yeah we were all together. We're also of course during this week by Lucy O'Brien right lucy. Oh It's such a pleasure to be yeah. I'm glad you'll be here for the full episode. <hes> I've got a phone call how there's nothing. There's no on the screen. You're doing it over the headphones Lucy <hes> for the audio listener. She's leaving the room okay. Maybe she won't be on this episode for the full-time Ooi. Thanks so much for being here Lucy I anyway. We have a pretty packed show. Even though it's a bit of a lifetime for playstation and actually have the jingles angles back and whatnot oh I'm GonNa make sure things play correctly but it's time for news crunch and I found a version of the news country single running made for me that I have not played on the show what I'm GonNa play a world exclusive exclusive world premiere of News Crunch Jingle. Let's hear I think running mate like three months ago. So of Course News Contra began <hes> as we were talking about the crunch of an apple show so Ronnie found that bit of audio the I don't know is that Ryan clements it might be the on host Ryan Clements one more time. I don't know if it is but it does sound like him. I was episode the show way back in the day where I swear Andrew Goldfarb a an apple and then everyone has a worst thing tuna podcast. That's basically how news coach has began. Wow auspices of it so yeah maybe that was. I'll have to check with Ronnie well. We may hear from later in the show yeah but before we do we have a bit of a just random various news going on that. I wanted to bring up. <hes> you know how much hard hitting news there is. When we play the intro three times to discuss whose voice it is yes? It's a really busy time for playstation <hes> most of the stuff I have to discuss this week is third party related <hes> some things of course thank you to everyone who wrote in questions both to the email to me on twitter. We'll get to those later but <hes> in terms of news going on since the July fourth weekend here in the states. It's not been a ton on one thing I want to bring up. Borderlands three has new competitive multiplayer modes and Apex Style Ping System <hes> they basically released this whole brand new <hes> press release of all these additions bring the Board Lynn's <hes> they've continued to show that they're going to have a full suite of accessibility options which is Great <hes> that will include the ability to remote controls also include support for the xbox adaptive controllers can use that more accessibility options will be in there. They're introducing a one V One v One v one mode that is free for all drooling so yeah it's called the first free throw doing mode which will allow players to opt into this competitive multiplayer experience <hes> we didn't get too much more information on that but they also will have some discord integration as well as additions to its echo cast twitch ascension. Have you noticed that they like recently people. Come up with like really ridiculous names for like stuff like four player Multiplayer One v One v One V. We have a four person battle royal mode. This is the same company that made the pre sequel archer yeah so that's kind of silly named kind of in the DNA of this franchise <hes> but yeah it seems like we're GonNa just beginning a lot of small borland's updates <hes> we have.

"I might actually get so speaking of the color, so like Zosson glows blue in zombie Zenda when I heard some Zente I was like, I'm going to remember how to pronounce it because it sounds like magenta and wouldn't you know, like Zosya in is kind of like science. Yeah. And magenta Macenta link you know, like those colors. I don't know if that's very inspired. But that's my guess that makes sense. Remember it through. And we also saw a bunch of new poke him on which I see now we get to the maranda Mon. Yes. So there's gossip Fluor, which is a flowering Pok Mon, and that evolves into elder, gos-, which gets like big cotton, puff and Miranda. And I were talking about it that they have seeds in the cotton puff on its head and people. Eat the stuff. So people eat parts of poke him on. Yes. Dr not for reproduction in the official entry so far. But we how on the Bill months like seats plant babies, but they're not in this case, they are meant for nourishment. And specifically it says in the entry that their seeds help nourish, the Gallo region like just make the firm was more or the soil more fertile for growth and it's not meant for having babies who eats Pokemon eatable do, that's low podium, delicacy, slender. Rocket like almost half slow pokes to extinction because they're just chopping off flow. Puck slope book tales farfetched is almost extinct as people, eat farfetched. They carries around it's science fees through doc for me. Their animals. So even if even if you're not cool at the eating of poke him on the like people drink milk tank milk, right? Like that, just like the knuckle with it. So, okay. Well, so you're a Pokemon vegan. That's what you're saying. What's milk? Thanks say. Like what's. It's call MU. Probably okay. I'm gonna move on. I wasn't sure if it said like milk dang, I was gonna say if it speaks. Nope. I. Recently, I recently saw the episode with Whitney's Milton. Can I don't I don't think it builds said, Milton. I think it just made noises. So if it's just millio drinking's, fine Tanga, Milton. Okay. Melt smell this gross. You guys on like this topic. They have like Milton Brandon like milk, whenever you go to the cafe. I guess paired with that has like the lamb. Yeah. I thought they were friends not. You can them. In fit from whatever they make did you ask, if you could eat blue. Yeah, sheep, right? It's Scotland they eat tripe and Haggas and sheep, sheep stomach. You know, they even through. So when I saw Lulu, I thought that would be your new obsession for collecting I love Lucy. Really? The normal sheep Pokemon. And it's said to be extremely fluffy. And it will roll away from conflict. I just want to live in peace. I got a little braids if you go on the Pokemon website too, on the description of it. It's like what the deserve is literally just like we'll lose a friendly Pokemon that just wants to -bility. And it's like all at once in life is to just be chill and fine and live with other people. And if you're happy who wants that in an RV where you battle. Nigger Smith Pokemon traders little thing. Lou turn into what would will lose L evolution be like, kind of hope it doesn't evolve. It's just going to be a big bowl fluff. Yeah. Shannon, imagine maybe may, if it does, it'll maybe be like a ram sort of mutt, too, and it's going to be all like nasty here. What happens when we don't get the stability in the library crave. John, dorm Beth Jonathan Dornbush was made. He said, something so funny, which was like with SABA, which is like the ANC Zaidi Pokemon. And we'll Lou which is just like all about just wants a stable life..

"I remember the for brawl, I g n actually we we created a microsatellite where you were able to upload your saves because Nintendo, of course, back then didn't build it into dance. The we actually did something way. You could export your save put it online and we shared them. We created this little date of that for for a while. Yeah. It was a cute little experiment. So this is something this it was caught in a commercial, isn't that commercial and someone just it? And I guess that's how it leaked. I think Jonathan Dornbush actually noticed this. Yeah. It's just it's in the in a blurry shot in the lower right corner. You can clearly read it though when you zoom in. So I don't know if they were seeding that sometimes companies are sly with their marketing it was on purpose for you. No way that sleet. All right. So many people at the sign off on a trailer like that before it goes out. But you know, it was a very mainstream. Commercially wasn't something that any of us would be interested in watching kids play. So I don't know, man. I think this one may have slipped through. I mean, you know, if they had just announce it like stage crater coming would it have produced less hype than we found this thing. All right. Like, I don't know. I have no idea. I mean, let us know marketing lease. We're starting to learn about it though because. Yeah, the three point zero announcement at the direct was was just the silliest thing plea that he excited there's the three point eight common. General never great about their updates. Even like, I'm still playing split you into a whole bunch in like in game. They're like there's an update on the website. I'm like, I'm not gonna check the website. Like they've gotten better. They've for the latest splash as platoon update. The actually provided a little bit more inflammation, really wish that more like, you know, companies followed the at least like e. A for fee model where it's like, it's you pops up immediately. And you can just hit axe to get out of it. Or in this case, a it's all mapped weird. But I really wish they had something a little bit more transparent as far as that stuff. Well, this one is going to be pretty obvious. I think when it drops what what do you think do you think they'll have some other new modes in addition to that? I think if they're they're calling it the three things there's going to be more to it. There's something going to be more stages. I'm hoping for some persona stages. Well, you'll you'll definitely get one. Yeah. One stage. But no, hopefully, I mean, but this there's a lot of stuff in this game. Yeah. I right. But I'm the stage. The lack of stage creator was the biggest complaint group of friends because we used it a lot in our we we have turn all the time. When I go home, and we would always use the stage creator to make unique interesting maps because we would always play with eight players. And sometimes we want something different what kind of stages did you make? So he likes is going to some really lame. But we have I'm sorry. So we have like a group of like forty of us that go on this camping trip every year. Which is what we did. We're the. Yeah. And we all have play games together. Like when monster hunter came out, we all played monster hunter gather well played smash online together. People who go camping and play monster hunter. Okay. The monster hunter kidding. It's like fifteen but fifteen. You don't even have forty friends. Steen people with the same game in the mates impressive. But yeah, I try I'm. Yeah. That's what stages did you make? So we we have like a a logo because routine. Teamwork and look at that is. Yeah, Yeah. I I know. know I know, but we love each other. And it's fine. Because we we are full of teamwork but we have like a t logo I'll share it. So we made stages with the t logo. Okay with. Moving platforms going up and down and the center, and then I hope to get it screech out of it all so many questions. But no Nintendo related now. It was Sable fine. Ryan, We'll we'll send send cool. cool. You know? Yeah. I'm not cool..

"We've got enough Luder shooters out there as having conversation the other day about I'm like now, we almost have too much that yet you're one you're forced to choose. We do have too much. But then it kinda starting to wear down. I'm wondering if we'll see a trend of almost heading back toward this where it's like, wait. I want the loot. I don't want this huge open world. I can't keep up with it. I got real. Life worrying about as well as maybe some other games that are already playing started playing like destiny. So all right. Any other notes on borderlands three from you. There was a part of the trailer. Like if you've ever played tales from the Bruins telltale game. I didn't familiar with. So best held hill game. I'll go ahead and say that they're absolutely there is a character from that game in the trailer. So there was previously. No real connection like they're captured and borderland like tales from the borderlands, obviously. But like it never went through verse way. So now, the main character or the main male character from tales from the borderlands appears to be like the head of one of the companies in wins three. So that I'm I'm very eager to see one. If they get the voice actor because it was Troy Baker l like he makes he demands a much higher cost certainly these days, but also million guns, take the money, whatever. Also, like, how do they incorporate him and are any of the to- writers involved? Those are good questions. But yet, so they're integrating characters that were injured a character. At least that was introduced in tells the board Lance, and I know some of the characters coming back as well. Right Borland's, dude. I get that. Right. I saw some chatter borderlands one as well like actors at survived that have been brought forward already. All right. So like, I just I really eager to from a perspective. I wanna know where they're going with all that. Yeah. That's also sounds like Dave thought of a lot of good things reception has been very positive from Borland's fans. I haven't heard a lot of pretty much everything on the front pages for they would just Borland. It was just Borland's memes. There's a lot of memes about Borland's is coming and it was like sad anthem or division or destiny when there's a lot of knocking other like Lucia does that the king is back. You know? And we still don't know when the game comes out. We've got a little time to go. I I'm actually despite what I said earlier there's so many looters out there. Now, it is exciting. Borland's back on the scene per your point. We've waited ten years since the original but about seven years since the last one cartoon shooters general. Yeah. The style of it's really cool. It's funny that almost apex legends. Maybe even drew a little bit from that in some ways. And how that they converted the look of Titanfall just a little bit. It's exciting. All right. Let's move on to our next story. Borderlands orlands game of the year. Addition. This story comes way of Jonathan Dornbush overnight. So yeah, we love the dorm Bush baby check him out over Jian. But yeah, the basically gearbox did have a big panel. I do wanna talk a little bit maybe about with that panel was, but let's get through some of the news. I, but this was one of the other stories that came out of it Borland's fans have even more look forward to in the lead up to its launch including.

"So it sounds like it's a kind of thing that sorta like Pokemon go very much like Pokemon go. If you go to the website or any of the reports and watch you can see very augmented reality, it is different Pokemon go in the way that one of the things with the port. He'd like the portal to the wizards in worlds, it is if we were in the room, it would be over by Kevin you have to walk over to and go through that way. But then it is. Yeah. Augmented reality the your in the real world interacting with the environment. -cation? That's what that means in Pokemon, go, right? It was always that you could have. The Polk Amman in on the desk, or whatever and same thing here. I think with this Pokemon goes still happening. Gosh, it's happening more than ever. It's huge. It's a really big deal. Yeah. Kevin you who in hollered over there? Are you all on this anything, Harry Potter device? Excite you though. What does that mean? Berry get on the shot, if you're gonna tell you also Potter's bear it though had the exact same reaction. I had when I saw this come through my inbox. I would they're announcing the Harry Potter. And then no it was this thing. Yeah. Sectioned? My good, buddy. Jonathan Dornbush wrote a little piece about this from him up on. Gee, I wanna petition to call him John Dorn because I think it makes them sound very early and his nothing like him. And I think it's wanting good friend John Doran Texan this morning because I was like man I wish it was that one game. He was like. Yeah. Whatever. But telling me. "But I think it would also grandfather and everything that's been using it since before the bigger point that I'm trying to make us like, you know, why are you just going after one? When clearly this has been used in several games before I'm saying, go after all those other games. But I mean, I guess. W one hundred percent, right, right. It's just because it's the biggest game going. There's so many things about how much money making off this and how much four nights bringing you. And I think that's the reason being and that'll be what's interesting is if somebody of any of the people who've been listening teams article about backpack and getting involved today brought up the original thing of like when backpack kid was approached about this, June or whatever he was like, oh, that's cool. I guess the more people that way, you know, what I mean, it brings more of us my videos, kind of thing he wasn't mad about it. Not granted. He's a kid, and you can let you know. I'm not going to hold them to that. As being like, the end, greedy adults his life was like yo can you just like lost millions of dollars? And now, there's a lawyer involved at sees their opportunity to make some money off at the interesting about it is if anybody is going to bite down down in like, I'm not I'm not fighting this for the money. I'm fighting this for copyright dance. Moves, you know, basically what the the lawyer saying in the statement, right? I'm like, no, this is a problem that's going on long before this. We need to put an end to it yet. Is that the true intention because if so actually goes to coordinate becomes legal precedent, then? Okay. We've changed it in going forward. The way video games and intellectual property integrate. Popular dance will be a new thing different thing. Whereas like, well, no, if it's just like epochs going to settle out of court with everybody like how much money just to get you shut up non-mobile about this any more it going to be right? And I think that who's epoch to make them not have that legal precedent set because as you so, you know, accurately acknowledged that's really what that stake here. But I think I'm with you that I think they're going to be no movements on the lawsuits, eventually probably epochal just cut them checks. All right, cool. Whatever epic has a lot of money to fight this indefinitely. Not to say that it's you know, these people coming forward don't have funds to do. So, but they probably don't have as much as epic just just a wild. Guess Zach calls out in the wrong section that both Riviera. And Millie filed lawsuits against NBA as well for two K sports stuff or I'm sorry to they filed against two K sports for NBA, two K, whatever the dance moves being in their destiny, though. Exactly. Yeah. And then dance not you're wrong. Zeiger says tracer overwatch also has a Carlton dancy Mon. So it's everywhere you're all going down. I'm sorry to hear it. Number two. "Thank you and hosted podcast beyond Jonathan Dornbush. Take that Jeff keely and. And we waiting all week to say that. Yes. I've heard a lot of jokes for today. I have a symbol you all begin sort of a hash out the year that was twenty eighteen on each of your platforms. We'll discuss sort of the pros and cons that he's platform has. And then maybe at the end of all this. We'll see if there is a clear winner for twenty eight teen or or maybe maybe maybe everyone was just equally awesome or terrible this year. I don't know. We're about to find out. Now. Of course, I know that the comment section is a very realistic representation of gamers, you guys hit hates each other pretty much. So let's try to keep this clean everybody. Let's be respectful of each other. There was a metal detector on the way. And it was like, you know, like the meeting of the all the gangsters in the dark side where they all like all their guns at seen in the matrix. Thunderdome? Let's try that. Let's try to keep things keeping clean here. This year. We're going to begin with the PlayStation for Jonathan before. This is there anything you wanted to sort of get out there. I've got the whole report. Six. Side serve beetle lives. The only thing I would say is preface to have many notes we had the best year. I think unequivocally PS four had the best year just going by game of the year nominees at we have four of the twelve as PS four exclusives for the twelve war got worse. Leiderman Astro bot and tetris effect. Yeah. With us. No. Generally, we can go through it sort of bit by bit. But I think this year was the year that Sony has been leading up to since they revealed everything at three a couple years ago. So PS four is five years old now XBox five years used to be a ripe old age for a console. And then of course, there was that new story this year, very well performing story for us where some executive at Sony said of the PS four was entering the final phase his life. So. Do you feel like this? This is like the sweet spot for in terms of software library. Yeah. I mean, if it's a final phase, it's a health away to start going out. I think this has been not just for PS four. But experts general like third party end, I party, this is sort of the combination of all the work of this generation, so far I think a lot of the beginning of this. Jen was built on the back of the last Jenin people playing catch up people. Don't get me wrong. They're still lottery releases and remastered going on. But felt like we were relying a lot on that stuff. Whereas this year felt like a really great benchmark especially for PS four of what that system can do an achievement. We saw last generation the the sort of third effectively like the third wave of games towards the end of that three sixty PS regeneration, the bioshock infinite so the world like on three sixty halo four came in at the end of the generation was brilliant from especially in the technical. How'd you do this on an eight eight year old console?.

So if you wanna play a demo kingdom hearts and you happen to be in DisneyWorld from the fourteenth to the thirty first fourteenth of December, two thirty January. You can play some of it, really. So we were talking about kingdom house little bit before the show. Yeah. Because I noticed I was welcome. Plus the game stop this morning. And I knows it's a big poster in the windows come in January now, I've never played a kingdom hearts game. Okay. I get. I know what it is. It's like a big final fantasy up with Disney carrots. Right. So I like that. I actually even play my kid might really like it the Disney characters in it. Are they going to try? But there was something about that idea. No that you informed me. That kingdom Hans fans of the worst kingdom hearts fans at their worst are in said kingdom, Hans van the law of the woods. Now. I wanna be careful 'cause I'm afraid because I'm afraid Jonathan Dornbush. Alexa, ray. Yeah. Keenum arts fan. Okay. Great people. Okay. Lots of great parts, but keenum, heart fans are like meaner sonic fans. They want you to love what they love Severi very much. But they also hate you for not already loving it. Okay. The bad kingdom hearts fans are in my opinion, the worst fandom in all of American popular culture. Wow. That is really saying because sonic is out there. Yeah. It's it's it's as if someone took an angry angry sonic fan, and then just took a syringe full of bile injected into their neck. Oh my God. And that's what I can't even to me, sonic is the absolute. Several really good sauna cames, lots of love about sonic, lots of great sonic fans. I would disagree with you there as well. But which just strictly talking about the phantom, right? But in the fandom there can be some really rabid angry elements keenum hearts bugs me because it's so wins ical. It's about love night opportunity and optimism, and and then people are like. Love this. Why did something how can something that positive? Yes. An uplifting and fun and women as you say attract such toxic element. Yeah. It's very much like evil Steven universe fans, Stephen university. Most pure wonderful thing in the universe. And there's a small subsection of the universe fandom? Now is it that it's almost because the worst because they're the best they love kingdom hot so much. That's cannot understand people that don't do. That's not love. I don't know. What that is. But that's really. Really that's been put through a black hole and come out on the other side of the galaxy twisted and evil. Yeah. That's that's that's love that's loved that has Darth Vader with three of his limbs cut off laying on a beach burning on a lava planet, but what? But what I'm saying is that? Their passion for the game isn't directed inwardly at the game, which is to say, let's kingdom hearts three comes out. And it does something they don't like would there be talks ity directed at kingdom hearts the developers. Or is that talk city only only focused outwardly other people that don't love kingdom hearts, and they kind of end the experience. Imagine a shotgun. But it can fire three hundred sixty degrees. Hatred now again on top of this their millions and millions and millions of wonderful people that just want to embrace the spirit of kingdom hearts, which is about discovery friendship. Fidelity a mentioned Alexa, Ray earlier. She wrote a book about kingdom hearts, boss. Fight books. Wonderful book absolutely recommended everybody here. It's great. It's wonderful. It's deeply touching and personal. But there are the people out there that are mean about kingdom hearts are meaner that I've ever seen about anything else. Do you think that is? I think because already there's something. Fundamentally wrong with you for two into Donald and goofy. You think letters D twenty three guys you see it Disneyland that have like every single badge. It's like, I get it. Disney is great everyone loves Disney. But like shooed you love anything that much like anything other than with. No. Because even even the guys with the pins and the and the vessel okay with..

"But we don't have dual shot controllers Jens. Anyway. Yeah. So it's that's kind of a kind of a bummer. I was I was like is this going to be the is going to do it for puzzle fighter metal gear and we got to play with one. And I was like, nah. Did you guys have orders? No, no. I don't anymore. But you can't. So you cancel the this week. Yeah. I was kind of on the fence to begin with. I'm here's my thing with these consoles in general, I think the classic with what sixty bucks. Yeah. Which is the perfect impulse buy. It's like buying a game as these things edged to a hundred it is less of a like seriously like for the at most half of the library interested in. I rather buy peace now. Yeah. Or even Vida do you like on Viva? You can get these classics for like much less than by Tirtha, isn't PS TV. Also a great way to play a lot of these game. Yeah. I still have my TV. It's a memory card that will cost you. Yeah. That's true. It'd be a nice thing. Vida memory card to ST, Microsoft adapter. That would be great that would solve all the. For the people who got this thing. Like, if it knowing all of this armed with this knowledge of it's still sounds appealing to you. Good on you like, I don't think there's nothing wrong with it. Like, I like, I like it. I just I don't know. It's not it doesn't quite pull it off the way that I play stuff in the backlog. I have it's just not for me right now. I mean, looking at it like the the big problem is pretty much not just activision and doing their remastered and stuff, but also like the licensing issues run into with grant MO having official cars and licensed music tracks on Tony hawk and then. Yeah. Anyway, driller you said Vic and entirely Eminem. Soundtrack. Not allowed people. Remember that Mr. driller LP? Anyway, we gotta wrap things up. Thank you all very much for joining us. "Greetings, -tations everybody. And welcome to another episode of podcast beyond films for Jonathan Dornbush. I'm mexico. Joining me, Brian Otano. Hey, how are you? I'm fine. Thanks and Tina Amini beyond later on the show. We're going to have Andrew Goldfarb become on and talk about persona, which I'm sure we'll be just fine. But in the meantime, Tina, you got bright early to place red dead online share dead, it just launched a kind of weird closed. Beta today, I want to hear all about that. But I little bit of housekeeping. We're gonna be doing beyond live very soon on Monday, December tenth San Francisco. Doors open at five thirty PM. It's gonna live recording of beyond at six PM. You can try out borderlands to VR early and hang out with us, and you can sign up for a ticket at the link in the description of this very episode. So please fourteen to tells us about red dead. Why don't you do that? Yeah. Come Campari with us. Okay. We're done with all the housekeeping. I think we're good house red it's red dead. It's more red dead. So ready to online launches this week as of Friday. It'll be officially opened to the public. It's really genuinely like more red to it opens up, and you have a character crater. So it's a little different. You can do all sorts of things like mess with your makeup. I really appreciated that they had Matt lipstick versus like other normal. That's not remotely historically accurate. I don't think they had met lipstick baton back in the day lots of options there, can you play the girl. Yes. Oh, because you know, you can only be a man with lipstick. Yeah. But it's is it a full blown character creator like from the ground up. Or is it like GT five where you have to design your grandparents, and then like cross whatever it's pretty much from the ground up. I would say it's not as the most robust character craters. You can't go in and make a CD Adler, whatever if you wanted to I don't think so be pick between a man and woman their various hairstyles. There's some like sliders, so you can mess around with the length of things the positioning of things. So, you know, there's some there's some deadly the nose you can make Beckham big goofy idiot, man, you totally do that. You can make big ears. I think even call it goofy ears real the names of things are really cute. So like I picked a lip option that was a smooch, which basically just meant like really big full lips the Smoot for my teeth options. I chose gummy which means not. Oh, I decided if I was going to have disgusting like yellow Brown two teeth on top row and three on the bottom. I might as well, just go. Red dead at that behind closed doors demo one of the first things that jumped out at me is how appropriately historically disgusting. Some of the teeth were which the thing I noticed. My my wife is a dentist, and we watch any film or game or whatever. And she's immediately like, oh, those are bad teeth. Let me tell you why. And I'm like, I just want to enjoy the film. It's good to know the doing good, historically, accurate ginger Vitus lots to say about this. Cutesy nicknames for all the weird. Like, it sounds like something you would call somebody in a in a bar. Do they have old timey peony teeth? They have I forget the names of them. But they they it's pretty much that Janet teeth is the when they Pinot duck, and he smile, and that's exactly what I'm just. Because they do they they're either like really sharp or there's really generally only two on each. So it does look like, you know, they've been in some fistfights. Happens deaf. Duck, by the way. It's kinda like his mouth how dogs have teeth or if they do they're on the roof of their mouth or can't talk either. It's a cartoon happens. It would definitely be gummy version. I think the doc would just die. Wildlife and murder is the red dead world. It is like the full blown did open world. Yeah. I mean as far as I can tell I blush because it's only been two hours a day dove into it. It's and it's very much scratching the surface. But you dive in there's a story mission..
