"I have to admit, whenever it complains about it, I'm like, I don't understand what everyone's so upset about because my mind is great. I agree. I have a great Reddit. There's awful stuff on Reddit, but I don't follow it. You don't have to worry about it. And then you can do the same thing with Twitter. I don't know if that makes Twitter a better place for everybody or just for you. No, it doesn't. I'm just saying, it doesn't have to be I find going to Twitter to be enjoyable and fun because I've gotten rid of almost everything I didn't want. That makes me stressed. I'm not here, I'm not here to Twitter is not a good source of news. So I took things out, I don't care whether it's news or not. I go to other things like tech meme. A bunch of other news organizations to get news. On Twitter and Twitter, I go to have fun, hang out. See interesting things. Twitter, I can just go to see who died. Because if you're trending, chances are you're dead. What I've been asking people all week is let's say Elon does take over Twitter. Let's say he brings in a whole new regime and how things are done. Is there something that he could do that would kill Twitter for you? Because I've been asking people, Twitter has been famous for not iterating on its product, but I feel like they know that it's so delicate that they don't want to do it. So if he comes in there and stomps around and changes a whole bunch of stuff, would it be certain people like the people that you love following? What would be the thing for any of you that would make you be like, well, Twitter used to be great, but I just don't do it anymore. That's a really good higher character count. Did it get worse for you when they went to two 80? No, no, no, no, I think the current number is pretty good. But I think it's great. I think that one 40 was a little cramped. I think the current number is really good. But I think that if we made it longer than that, I stopped using it because it would just be, oh my gosh. If I see an article that's too long, I'm like, okay, that's a lot of words. And so I think that that would probably be, I think the biggest problem is that they're just going to get a lot of regulation. If he does a bunch of, he can say whatever maybe he can say whatever he wants, but Twitter is going to be in all kinds of hot water if it starts to dramatically change in a direction that makes countries concerned. And so I think that's more of what puts it under pressure. There's some evidence that they're working on. I want to say it's called something like Twitter articles, but maybe not extending the character count, but letting you attach something longer, which people, of course, always do, just by putting in screenshots, but that might be some error ignore. Yeah, I agree. I think I don't like Twitter threads either where you put a blog post. 15 Twitter posts that bothers me to hate that. Twitter's kind of way of doing that. I'm always like, get a blog. If you're going to write something longer than 200 characters. The Twitter blue feature, which is sort of their repackaged version of the idea behind nuzzle. Nuzzle. That was what I was trying to remember in the past. Nozzle was really Twitter driven. Yeah. I loved nuzzle. Jonathan Abrams, the guy who created friendster last act. And Twitter bought it, and they kind of turned this into top articles. Acknowledging that they are, in fact, a good place to get signals about what the zeitgeist is. I think that a lot of times they just have a hard time doing it. Everybody, all these companies have they're not very good at many things. They're good at one thing that pays for everything. So Twitter's got a good fee. Google has Google AdWords and display ads. Everything else isn't they do the best they can. Mail, mail turned out well on YouTube turned out well, but they bought that. But most of it is most of their ideas go all over the place. And then Twitter, they put out live streaming. I do live streaming. So I think about this. It's the worst platform for it. And you're like, it wouldn't be very hard to fix, but they don't do it for a lot. They bought mine and killed it. It's not real. What do they call it? Spaces, spaces. Clubhouse. Fleets. That failed. Twitter spaces is fun. We fast company. We've been doing Twitter spaces and we record all of our interview episodes on spaces now. Because it's just so much it's so easy to we've done it. We've done spaces where kayvon baked part of Twitter comes out because we're talking about Twitter product. And so he'll pop in and it's really great for if you're talking about a topic and then somebody involved in that topic happens by and you say, well come up on stage and then it is Clubhouse, but it's for podcasting purposes. It's amazing. And it makes a lot of sense for it to be part of a Twitter if you already a part of a community there versus having to become part of a community. People still using Clubhouse? Yeah. It isn't the number one download on the App Store, but people still got really excited about it for a while. We did a bunch of Clubhouse stuff and then we were like, okay. So this is my Twitter feed. Why don't I see spaces? I used to see that at the time. Because it was only mobile. I think you can maybe you can.

"It's time for Twitter this week and tech and show we cover the weeks, tech news and apparently I think there'll be some citrus news today. This is going to be a lot of fun. When we got these two guests on the show, we said, that's it. Stop. No need for a fourth, so great to have Amy Webb here. Amy has been missing in action as she took a little time off. CEO of the future today institute, you've wrapped up your book. I have I've got the hot off the presses, the galley right here. It's called the genesis machine and it's about the futures of synthetic biology. And I will make sure you get a copy. Oh, very excited. Okay, good. I'm going to order it if you don't see it. You can pre order it now. I think I will. I just get it because I'm very interested in that. Amy is besides being a futurist, one of the smartest people we know, especially on matters having to do with Asia, having lived there for some time. Also, with us from the information, the wonderful Paris Martina. See what I'm saying? I only need these two and I'm done. Paris. Actually, the third guest is the Buddha's hand. Oh yeah, let's see that. Show that. What the hell is some weird citrus fruit Amy's? Oh my God. So for those of you who are listening, picture, if you will, a bunch of limes that somebody sort of squeezes out to a point and then attaches them all at a base. It's called. Sorry, sorry, not a lot. One of the aliens from the I think the third season of Star Trek, I believe, but I might be wrong. It also, yeah, it kind of looks like a Dahlia if you hold it straight up. Pretty. But it's like the greatest smelling thing you've ever smelled. So you just have it sitting there just to smell good. I just, listen, I have a frustrating job. I need something to get through my day. And it's not going to be Adderall. So I just sit next to this thing and I smell it. Who needs that or all I've got Buddha's hand? And Paris, we also, as we begin the show, we wanted to wish your good friend Ryan, a happy birthday on Monday. Happy birthday. Happy birthday, Ryan, apparently. He's the only person in your circle of friends who actually listens to this show. So that's good. I don't know. I've heard that other people do, but for me wrong. I've heard people listen to Twitter. I've heard that. Anyway, I'm thrilled to have both of you here. I don't know exactly where to start this week. It's kind of a grab bag. Let's start with Twitter, because they launched their first, maybe no, not their first paid product, but their first widely available paid product, the Twitter blue, subscription service. And of course, being the Twitter flunky that I am, I immediately paid even though I have no idea what I'm getting. I did too. You did, too. I remember reading about it in Casey Newton's newsletter platformer and I paused, got up, don't know why. And then subscribe to Twitter blue. I don't know. I use Twitter so much that frankly, I should be paying a little bit. That's kind of what I felt like. But also I really enjoy the functionality of nuzzle, which is a app company that Twitter ended up buying that allows you to see what your friends and people in your network on Twitter, what links they are tweeting or commenting on. And they have put that feature in Twitter blue. We're on the browser you can see the top articles in your network. And frankly, that to me alone is worth 2.99 a month. That was funny. They did. But it's funny to say that because it's exactly the thing that got me to subscribe. I was so mad when Twitter bought nuzzle and within unceremoniously within a week just pulled the plug. Absolutely ridiculous. Yeah. So Jonathan Abrams who founded nuzzle, and I think, is one of the he was also one of the most brilliant guys out there in tech. He's just like slightly too early on a lot of different things. So yeah, he was friends to a pre MySpace pre Facebook. He had launched nuzzle and originally, it was an intelligence tool. And again, I think it was just slightly too early. And Twitter should have seen this functionality and they should have done something with it much earlier. And the way that I used it was that I created a whole bunch. I had like hundreds of Twitter lists that I had made that are all private. So I didn't want to follow those accounts. Instead, I used it as an intelligence gathering tool. And so I had one that was just very just having you with robots. And I had another one that was specifically about an area of drones. And I had nuzzles set up to ping me, 'cause you used to be able to set a threshold. So you could set it as like 5 three or two for how many people shared that same article or we're talking about the same thing. So basically, what I got was a curated view across individual topics all day long on the app. And it was like the most amazing thing. Then yeah, it got bought by a scroll got bought by which then got up by Twitter. They shut it down. It's back. But I don't find it at super useful now because if you follow a lot of people, you basically wind up with the echo chamber. You don't have all the settings that we had. This is the new Twitter page. There's a new little flame icon that says top articles. And this is their version of nuzzle. The one thing I do like if you click available in browser too. No, no, no, it's available on the app. You can. It's nice. iOS. It is on Android. I think no, no. I think it's on Android, but not iOS. Oh. Look.

"So that's why they're so Jane will ask you say need to get rid of Jonathan Abram. Yeah. Jonathan Abrams. He does too much heading and he hurts himself by being a heat seeking missile. The guy. The guy does not play smart sometimes because he over runs plays and he hits people so hard. He has himself saying with David on net over. Those guys are great athletes, but they gotta learn how to play the game. You know if you don't play the game, right? And then I thought I heard on the radio report that we can't even get rid of Cory Littleton because there were restrictions. Contact. We're stuck with him for two more years, and he is horrible. The guy is terrible. No. I mean, it sucks that we never had 10 of years. I think that guy could be good. You know, more host. I like but you know not enough to keep him and clean Phil. He's a ski The buster for a drunken sir, The guy didn't do crap this year. They got to read it. It's got to redo the whole defense. The last thing the last thing I'll ask you about your football team. When does it start? And I agree with you, By the way on the third down play, they should've definitely scored a touch. And I said that earlier in the week Jane, Alaska, But when does it start? This is your three. They did not make any progress from the end record of last year based on the same scenario, and I don't give a character wouldn't this weekend that they fumbled it down the stretch once again had some people believe in after Kansas City. When do you start to hear the noise of people saying fire Gruden Because what does he 18 and 29 or 18 and 30 in these last three years, And he's a well below under well under 500 coaches, one of that Super Bowl in 2003 against the Raiders when he was the coach of Tampa. When does it start the fire? Grudin chance cause I don't think it's there yet. He's on a 10 year deal once it started your opinion. Think after next year if they do not make the playoffs, And here's my things that I'm a scheme guy, I have my own offense that I created. It's a hybrid sky called the Diamond. Often It's a hybrid of of West Coast a R P O J. Time out. Where do you coach? In in Alaska. You coach a lot. Like what? Like pee wee football high school football coach from all the way from third graders all the way to high school. Okay, I've done it all I had to boys, twin boys, So when they start in third grade, I dropped down to what the girls love and coach with them all the way up. I also coach high school football, So I created my own offense, just taking pieces of different Offensive and putting him into a scheme. So I'm a scheme guy so I'd appreciate And and I actually love and appreciate Jon Gruden scheme. My only issue with Jon Gruden is fresh. His office of Cold Calling is I think he needs to be a little more diverse. I think he needs a younger set of eyes to help him. Mix it up a little bit more, because sometimes I think he gets a little too cute tries to do the same thing too many times He's got more schemes in his office that he can use and like a missile rests on the radio reports about I think they needed jettison my Jason Witten. I like the guy. I respect him. But they need to get awesome are on the field because their waters a piece, but I think they're awesome. Bro can take some of the pressure off of their wallets and foster rolls of very good tight end If they have to solid Pro bowl tied in with that running game, I think you're gonna see you could see a quote pretty prolific officers for a score a point. And if they could just get a defense that can just bend and not break, they could win all the games. You know, Coach Shane, Alaska, You have a fantastic 2021. How about that? That may be the most well informed caller I've ever had. Jay was just dropping bombs. We gotta put him in Canton, Ohio Pro Football Hall of Fame. Coaching third graders, high schoolers. That was great. By Jane. Alaska really was I love how he calls himself a scheme guy. I've never heard of anyone say that. I love that I was skiing guy schemed. I love that. That was great. Here's the problem with the Raiders. Don't trust the coach defense thinks and we could say what we want about Derek Carr and Dan. I go back and forth on this. Don't trust Eric are in a big spot. Don't I just don't And hey, We've seen it all. I asked them simply make the playoffs. Get the defense things but simply make the plants with an extra spot. They spotted a responded to six and three start. Now they have seven wins. Isn't it funny? Any time? I see the Raiders just implode in front of her eyes? I right away. Just say can't wait to hear from J this week. Now we know Jay's a football guy that we know he's a scheme guy. Now we know he is a Hall of Fame. Coach in Alaska. Maybe we should form an Alaska Football Hall of Fame. Allowed to Alaska and put J as the first member of the Alaska Football Hall of Fame. That would be fun. Maybe they should hire him as the next head Coach of the Raiders when Jon Gruden gets fired now, maybe the defensive coordinator What's the scheme? Guide off of It? Sounds like maybe you can Maybe good coach up. Gruden game something up. Just something in the snow and bring it out to Ah to Las Vegas Bring out to the desert. I did text Wade Phillips. I'm telling. I see even even he brought that up. You know, I heard we're thinking about maybe Wade Phillips. Text of a Phillips tried to get him on the show. No, thanks. It is exact help show on CBS Sports radio. I don't ever think. I've ever allowed a caller on the air for 10 minutes. Was a 10 minute.

"Tongue of my low waiting on the snap Creator Show Blitz. Here's the snap handoff running out to the left side across the 45 down inside the 40 yard line goes gasket. We'll give him progress to the 39 ardent key. The third year, man out of L s U made the tackle. Get about eight yards and second short now for Miami Tune in to watch all the excitement of the NFL tomorrow on CBS. Check your local listings for games in times in your area, Catch the NFL on CBS. Second doubt about two yards to go for the Dolphins to receivers right. Double tight ends left pistol snap handoff. Hunger by low will give it to Gaskin running outside toward the right numbers, and he dives ahead close to a first down. Looks like he's got out of a 36. But there is a penalty flag down on the play. Tony Corrente, the referee is the man who threw it. You have the red throws it that's gonna be holding on offense holding offense number 68 10 yard penalty on Repeat second down Goes against Robert Hunt, the right tackle. Most like you played a few games in this league. You know that penalty was coming? Yeah, when you well when you know when the white hat throws it, and it's always from behind, it's gonna be compartment one of those off of the library. So back it up to the Raiders 49 yard line. It'll be second down now and about 12 yards to go for Miami. Three receivers go to the left to out to the right. Huckaby low all by his lonesome in the backfield. So it looks left looks right, waits on that shotgun snap. He's got it stuck in my lower back to pass throws over the middle that's caught right at the 45 yard line, and then dropped immediately is the tight end might get sticky. Jonathan Abram made the stop. It's a gain of five and now third down, coming up for the Dolphins. This will be third down and about eight and that's where Jonathan Abrams excels on those type of plays right there. Absolutely. I mean, he He's a great tackle in space, but he can also blitz he brings that. That dog that you want from your defensive players that he gives that defense. Some attitude what you love to see as a player. So third.

"What happened? Well, the dot com bubble burst for one thing. As for six degrees calm and eventually returned in some form or another, though I honestly don't know what it looks like today because when I went to go check it out with my browser is part of my research for this episode, my browser told me Yo, buddy, I really don't think you should go in there. Essentially saying the site is insecure, possibly a host of malware, and I don't want any of that garbage on my computer. So I quietly backed away now six degrees dot com wasn't a bad idea. It was just way ahead of its time. There weren't enough people. There wasn't enough saturation on the Web to make the model work. But the idea behind it was obviously solid because anyone who has studied social networks online or otherwise would recognize the value proposition. Now a few other folks would try to launch social networking sites over the next couple of years. But I think it's fair to say that the first that got some mainstream traction was Friendster and that one would come out in 2002. So five years after six degrees had originally launched, and two years before Facebook would launch Now. Friendster was founded by Jonathan Abrams and Peter Chen, and this site also subscribe to that six degrees of separation concept. If you looked at someone's profile, you'd see how you were connected to that person. And whether or not it was a close connection, So perhaps you might have a mutual friend in common with that person. Or you would see if it was ah, more tenuous connection. Like I know someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows that person kind of thing. And like a lot Of social networking sites there was used primarily by people who are looking to find a date Profiles also had a view counter attached them fun times. Now, I don't know if you guys remember when it seemed like every Web page on the Internet. Required a view counter eyes a little counter of been typically, you know the top of the page, maybe in the corner, and it would just tell you how many people had visited the website and it became a way to gauge not just the popularity of the Web page or website, but also by extension. It gave an implication of whether or not the site was a good quality. You know the idea being that if that many people have visited the site, then it must be doing something right. And we still see elements of this today. Of course, you know, like in view numbers for YouTube videos or how many people like or share a post on various social media sites or tweets, that kind of thing, But we don't typically see them on Web pages as much these days Now Friendster started strong, but with popularity comes challenges. And one of those was Justin Scaling as more people are joining the site, and we're making profiles and uploading photos and interacting with one another. The company had to scale up the backend systems and this became challenging Google would actually come forward and make an offer of $30 million to acquire the company in 2003, but the business owners turned that offer down. And that was probably one of the reasons the company would later remove the founder, Jonathan Abrams, as CEO in 2004. The idea of we could've cashed out and you said no. Following Abrams departure as CEO, there was the old revolving door routine of other CEOs and users began to abandon the site. They were frustrated by performance problems and that linked back to those challenges with scaling, and the users were flocking over to another social networking site, one that For a while, seemed like it was going to be the definitive social networking platform. My space.

It's jonathan abraham missed the game with a knee but again is that the good jonathan haber murs at the badwin taking bad angles making mistakes and blowing coverages. We don't know and you have to take a little bit of both with jonathan abram. You're always going to get a little bit of both him. But i think he is a dynamic player to where you want them in there. "He was moved because of all the covert stuff with with trained Brown and kind of subjecting the rest of the offensive line. They weren't able to play. They didn't know they could play till the morning up. Jonathan Abram was in this game and you get the sense that Jon Gruden loves him. Some Jonathan neighbor in terms of just being an Alfa dog being somebody that's crazy, and, you know, throwback Raider. Uh, from the soul Patrol days. You know, when you talk about actions and hit man he talking about Jack Tatum and you're talking about Willie Brown and Dr Death, and he's one of those kind of the guy He's actually wearing his sleeves long like those guys to not only to pay Omar, but To kind of inspire himself. And you saw a lot of Jonathan Abrams blitzing off the edge, which is something you haven't seen for a long time. So you kind of see? Okay, well, there's Jon Gruden's fingerprints on the defense a little bit right there. Let me ask you about him because I love The passion in which he plays. I love the fact that he's going to come up and lay a knockout blow. I mean, he tries to hit you, and he does so with the angry intentions. I also wonder about Ah, He reminds me of Bob Sanders a little bit to where he was injured a lot because he was such a violent player. And if you could speak to that And B. It's a tendency to miss a couple angles every now and again because he doesn't just want to get you to the ground. He wants to destroy you. And sometimes it's okay just to get the guy to the ground. Yeah, And there's no doubt about that. I I asked Jim O'Neill, the defensive backs coach. Exactly that I'll find is that line between being the heat seeking missile and being a missile that's just going to take out your own guys with friendly fire. And he laughed. And he said, Yeah, but at the end of the day, it's easier to slow a guy down than it is to speed him up. So he'll take that all day long, but they're still working with him on on knowing when to go for the kill shot. When you just take the guy down because he knocked out and you know and remember guys only play one game last year, But in that one game, he knocked out Gary on Conley, his own teammate at the time, had to be taken up on a stretcher. This year. He's Hit and knocked down his own guys. Damon Arnett. Ah, even you know, knock him out of a game, but but he hurt him pretty good with LaMarcus Joyner. So he's got more pellets on his wall that her Children black than other teams, but at the same time, that's the kind of guy that they need, and they want back there in that when he's back there in the secondary, it's for the first time in a long time. Opposing offenses they're having to take note. Okay. Where is that guy? Where is number 24? There's a reason you picked number 24 as well. The Willie Brown The Charles Woodson's. That's a special number for a Raider secondary player. Hey, everyone's afraid the opposition and his own team will take you out every squad me and I'm not just talking a team on the field or quarter, whatever, but every squad needs a crazy guy. If you don't roll like that, you gotta have a dude where you don't know if it's going to be the opposition or you don't know if it's going to be you, but if it's better to have that dude on your side than not have them on your side. Yeah, And that's the thing with him is that he's definitely a leader. And now that he's actually got from games under his belt, as opposed to last year, when they only played the one I mean, Now he's growing into that role as a zoo leader in the locker room as well because Again. A zoo flare out their opposing offenses have to look for him and see where is this guy and you know, tight end's going across the middle. They're not going to feel so comfortable doing that. If you know this This dude is out there and he's willing. Bring in like the boss said anything, though I do like that, where Bob was knocking himself out. Well, hey, has the same Billy but But Abram is a little bit bigger than then. Yes, Yes, Sanders was a little guy, So there's there's There's a little bit of a difference there, but Yeah, they're still trying to figure out exactly when to put the quarter in and pull the string and when to just let it kind of go. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that this has Maur, if not everything to do with the fact that the Raiders are winning But you don't hear a lot of chatter about Derek Carr anymore. Is he the right guys? He getting along? Regrouping as you'd taken the next step. I'm not saying he's perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But it sure seems like the heat that is surrounded. Car's dying down. Am I reading that correctly? Or is it is it just out there in the desert? And maybe we're a little bit too far removed? To really hear what's happening on that? I'm thinking that you read what I just wrote for tomorrow. All your mailman. A point of pride in the point of pride for the Raiders is because the expectations for him were obviously high because Coming into his seventh season. This is going to be the first time in that Korean seven year career that he was going to be in the same system for the third straight year. He's never had this before, so the expectations were high. Thegame was slowing down. Jon Gruden's ultra Confusing offense is like a second language them now, So when you look at all that you say, OK, is it that is he finally just comfortable with it? He's extending plays now by taking off and running like he was in 2016 when he's playing like an M V P Or is it just kind of being pushed a little bit by? Ah $7.5 million back, Marcus Marry Oda or whatever the case is, I mean, thegame. I literally He's on page where 4201 passing yards. 32 touchdowns and only five interceptions. And he's completing over 71% of his passes. So you threw all those numbers up and you're like, Okay, well, what's not to like, And in yesterday's game, a Cleveland he only threw for just over 100 yards, but he controlled that offense. He didn't write. Unnecessary shots. He could throw the ball thief a couple times trying to keep the defense honest, But he is so in control of this offense right here and right now that Derek Carr is the least of the Raiders problems. Whenever it problems pop up, So it's like he is the steadying guiding force. And if you had said that anybody coming into the scene and you would've aspirate drug test and in there, but he is showing that this is his team, and it's pretty impressive to see him be so malleable and be able to do things because, remember, it wasn't long ago, guys when he was More of a gun slinger right now is not a game manager, but he's in control of the game. I'll get you with your malleable. Very impressive. Where a palm we ask you, you smart into the audience. Let me ask you because we're you know this. I thought it was a huge win yesterday because the Browns were kind of position from maybe that final playoff spot in the A F. C. Now It may be the Raiders and we just had we had Morte on and he was saying that they may wind up with a 16 team playoff, which would obviously excite the Raiders..

Jon Grudens Raiders and Tom Bradys Bucs: A Special Relationship

"Paul duty as I have a question for you where are you right now? I am in an RV at an RV park in Las Vegas and barring my mom and dad's RV while I'm here covering the now Las Vegas Raiders Paul Gutierrez not only covers the raiders for ESPN. He's written a book about Raiders Fandom and followed the team Vegas kind of living like. A little bit. Paul I of about fifty fall of questions about what life in that our views like. But it does feel like the ability to pick up and react to sudden schedule changes is especially important to covering the raiders these days starting with what's happening right now, we are talking on Thursday evening ahead of this highly anticipated raiders game, and there is a Kovic scenario that you've been covering in depth so. What do we know about the game schedule? What do we know about who's playing or who is not playing? Basically, what has happened is is right tackle. Trent Brown tested positive for covert. Now as part of the protocols here anybody who's deemed a high risk contact with him has to self isolate for at least five days plus one which would be the. Last point of contact, which was practice on Monday they are all there. They were all there together It's the raiders entire starting offensive line, plus let's just throw safety Jonathan Abram in there as well. So man, all of those guys were just placed on the covid nineteen list again doesn't mean any of them tested positive. I was actually told that none of them. But as part of the protocols they have to selfies late for five days. Another other source told me that they've been doing virtual preparation. In case they can indeed get cleared play against the buccaneers in the meanwhile, it was supposed to be a big Sunday night football game. Yes. The League wanted to make sure that that game actually happens. So they bumped the raiders out of their move Seattle in Arizona into that spot. So a game will happen well, guess what if you guys I just mentioned you consistently Test negative on their Cova test the rest of the week and then again Sunday. Morning will then they'll be cleared to play. But at what time? Sunday morning Oh. Yeah. kickoffs at one o'clock. So the backstory all that as well. I gotTA catch my breath here when I started figure this out understandably. Yeah. They on their fifty three man roster. They currently have five backup offensive lineman. That's WHO's been trodden. They've been trying out there in practice every day. That's who Derek Carr has been had protecting him. That's who Josh Jacobs has been trying to run holes through those five guys plus they also have two guys on the practice squad that they could suit up if need be. So as we sit here right now on on Thursday late afternoon the raiders starting offensive line is anchored by Andre James and if you need to know who that is I got a couple of media guides for you can look about. Paul Creek me. If I'm wrong here, but I believe this is the very first case of an entire position group being taken down by cove like I know that we've had players here and there. You put on this list but in terms of the magnitude of what the raiders are facing with the offensive line, this feels extreme. Yeah. An and it's part of the protocol. Really. Because only one guy really has tested positive but it's out of the abundance of caution which we've heard a lot of since since the pandemic hit right you've got to self isolate you gotta make sure you don't test positive or show any symptoms, and even if you don't show any symptoms, still self isolate because you could be symptomatic. It's just very bizarre. It's a strange world we're living in Derek Carr said this week that you know he's been with the team for seven years seen a lot of weird things. He's this is the weirdest thing he's ever seen and it's worth noting like weird is by no means foreign to this organization even within this context I mean, I still need help Paul disentangling what exactly happened for instance with Jon Gruden their head coach who took an approach to corona virus with the team earlier this year that had me confused the media confused, and then ultimately Jon Gruden himself pretty angry at everybody. Yeah. So beginning at Camp, we show up in a media member. We have to test every day just to get in I have fifty two on my belt. All negative so far, which is a good thing Jon gruden passes out t shirts to the media with there waiting for us as we walk in the media room that say crush the virus because I was going to be his mantra he took issue with the NFL network reporting that he faked having the virus but yet kind of just went away then on the home opener on. Monday night football when he later would get fine for not wearing his mask properly, he brings it up himself and says that he never faked the virus it as a matter of fact, he did have it. So he talked about just how it was not fun. It made him feel bad and this is all before training camp. When he said he he went through this and beat it in in that. He has the utmost respect for it and he still wants to crush it in beat it into the ground like it was some sort of opponent.

"And again one that you know again. I've met many people. In my circle that have been diagnosed with cancer. And you know a lot of them too late to where they found out. You know, they had stage for they had, you know, heart disease. My mom found out she had heart disease. It was too late. Had she gone and had this scan? She'd have been okay, because she's a bitch Should have been ableto, you know, prevent and be proactive and not just sit back and wait until you get bad news. So if you have that capability to get something like this checked out Go on. Check it out. 534 79 100 prevented a diagnostic centre p d center over dot com. Alright, So Philly we talked about they moved in the first place Crazy as it is to wins four losses in a time the Raiders sitting at three into right now, Of course. The by, uh, coming at a nice time because there were, you know players that could use You know some rehab Cem some time off to, you know, kind of men. Some of these injuries they're already on the shelf incognito's down for a while. There's several main players that are down there for the Raiders. But lo and behold, we have cov. Coming in the way now of this potential starting lineup for the Raiders on Sunday against Tampa Bay, and I'm already got my press pass coming on. Good to go. Sunday night game. I'm fired up and lonely old maggot terrace goes. Oh, no, Katie. That game's moved to Sunday afternoon already because they weren't sure because the radar offensive line, of course, sent home yesterday from practice We new trend brown, but then everybody else, including Jonathan Abrams from the secondary sent home he is Mac, you terrorize you can follow him on foot. Better at sports adrenaline. He is a short his attack when it comes to Raider football right now, I just gotta get before we get going on the Raiders. How you feeling about your Dodgers? Because I know you're you were just happy to get there. Then you win. Game won handily. But then you get found it pretty good in Game two. What you're feeling now going forward. How big is Game Three. Tomorrow is at a turning point. Or do you feel that this Siri's is You know, one time I actually picked the Dodgers and seven when it started. I just thought Tampa Bay has solid, You know, Solid team. Not as good at bats is the Dodgers do but the arms are adequate. And I thought, you know they played good. Solid T ball. Good chemistry back a terrorist. What about your Dodgers are gonna win it all this year. I think they are. Can I like I think tomorrow is a big game simply because Walker Buehler is pitching for the Dodgers and the Dodgers look like they're in a scenario where you need Kershaw Mueller to each win two games because And the other games. You're throwing out. Bullpen starts and, you know To the cova situation before the season started, is eyes really starting Tio rear its ugly head here in the in the postseason because you only have two starters, but You know if you look and get through tomorrow, and that's gonna be a tough game. Either way, That's that's probably gonna be a low scoring game. But if you'll get there tomorrow with the wind, I think the doctors in really good shape, but I don't know that this team this team build different after after coming back from the 31 deficit against the Braves when it's green row and coming from behind twice in Game seven. To win that game. This team just feels feels like a different team than what we've seen over the last years. And you know not to take any. Anything away from any of those teams have been to the World Series twice and left. Three seasons before this one, you know, it's just they seem deeper, their bullpen and better overall, cursed all look good. Which is good to see. He hasn't had that big. Blow up postseason start yet so you know they get a win tomorrow night. I think they're in great shape. If not, it's going to be an uphill battle. And then I think you do see a seven game series out of this. This World Series this year. All right, so that's not opinion on the Dodgers. Looking forward to that have three college football games tomorrow as well, including Wisconsin, Illinois is the big 10 starts their season on a Friday. We've got Brian Edwards listed as questionable with that ankle injury. The receiving corps has been outstanding with rugs the third back. It just shows what this team Khun do because they can stretch the field. But you gotta have guys protecting their car. And right now we're in some trouble right here is far as this covert stuff. Now they're still lose the chance. You're telling me that these guys the majority of them could get back on the field, attending some tests that are going to be issued prior Tio game, So there You know the offensive line. You know Rodney Hudson and called Miller gave Jackson and then so good right now, these guys, uh, not even knowing right now, whether or not they're going to be able to play so for coach Gruden, GM Mike Mayock and the rest of the coaching staff, including Marinelli, Paul Gunther, the defence coordinator, Greg Olsen, the offensive coordinator. Just wondered. Like what the heck man How did we even move forward? I mean, I know it's next man up, but when you lose your own Offensive line. You're in a lot of trouble. What do you think? A Sfar is going forward for this particular game against the red hot camp of 18 that had to gain a lot of confidence coming back from 10 Nothing and just shellacking Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last week at home. Boy, this is this is ah, pretty tough situation for the Rangers to be, And hopefully, some of these guys will be able to get back on the field update our listeners. Macro terrorists. What are we looking at? As Faras, the Raiders, the offensive line and Jonathan Abram as well. Yeah, if if it comes back where the offensive line all five of them, and that includes turned Brown, which is already he already has the positive test. If it comes back that they all have positive test going forward. I don't think there's any way that they can play this game on Sunday, even though they moved it to the afternoon spot. Um If you're Jon Gruden, you know, Do you want to see Derek are in there with a bunch of backup guys? Getting hammered by one of the best defense is in the NFL. I mean, that that front seven that you have in Tampa Bay is extremely legitimate. And you have to worry about your quarterback without a healthy offensive line. One thing when you have to do with injuries, you gotta move guys in and out. That's part of the game. This is a very different situation a very different season overall, and we've already seen games postponed and moved around Tuesday night games and things of that nature. So Um, if if they do all come back with a positive result, I would be surprised that this game is played on Sunday. The problem is they they don't know. Yet With the contact tracing whether or not these players were all around Trent Brown for any extended period of time, every player in the NFL was given a little. Um, a little tracking device like a like, you know, half the size of a credit card Roughly. You could wear it multiple different ways. But it's It's supposed to tell you when you've been Too close to somebody for too long. It's supposed to help with the social distancing beats out yet, like the bread the whole bit, And if you're wearing it, you're aware of your spacing. You're aware of the time that you're around somebody and Trent Brown was not wearing his properly and because of that they cannot. Properly do any contact tracing with the rest of the offensive line, and Jonathan Abram, which I'm not sure why Jonathan Abram was thrown into that mix as well. But that's what we're looking at right now. So They've got to go through the theweek long protocol of self quarantining staying away from the rest of players staying away from the facility and getting their their test results daily, which so far have been Negative. I haven't heard anything about any positive test outside of Trump Brown, as far as the guys that were sent home are concerned, but I'm not a huge deal, if if So let's say you lose..

Belichick reaches milestone as Patriots top Raiders 36-20

"Everyone is time for the bonus episode postgame recap for Vegas Nation podcast. I'm your host Heidi Fang and I'm joined with our readers writers, Ed Greenie, Adam. Hill we're going to break down what happened here in the Raiders Lost Thirty six to twenty against the New England Patriots here Gillette Stadium in Foxborough at an ir up in the press box Adam back in Vegas a from my vantage point it was. A lot of mistakes made by the raiders, which is something you can't do against the bill belichick coach team. So we're GONNA get all into that here but I I want to remind everybody that we are brought to you by Salmon Ash, indeed visa and also favor. So make sure to subscribe wherever you're listening and what was your first take on what you saw out in the field today with the raiders. You're right. They did everything you can't do and win on the road or anywhere turn the ball over three times. Once rent on. Didn't protect car when they were driving. Me fumbled the Fumble Alina Game Matter Games already overby fumbled the end zone. In the second half, they just wore down defensively I actually done the first thirty minutes be interested at him. I think thought the first thirty minutes they played. As good. A defense as they haven't a while let's be honest. Thirteen points here cam help them a lot. He wasn't any third, but they were down on the second Apple Sikhism Derek. Carr in the offense couldn't stand field. He gave up two hundred and fifty yards total rushing late Sony Michelle when expert in its players per talking, you know these of League so they were down and they just couldn't match. Match up. So a bad game they printed everything you can do and what on the road so Adam how much in fact that these running bags like just through the defense offered their game because I don't think they were looking to contain the likes of three different running backs in this one I think they prepared to contain Cam Newton? What was your thoughts on the running game? I think I was definitely a part of it and I think there was definitely adjustments made. By the Patriots coaching staff because as as ED put out for the first half of the, Patriots were able to run the ball somewhat. But I thought a it wasn't. There wasn't those explosive plays. There wasn't those big plays downfield and it was a kind of picking up some yards here. They're moving the ball effectively but not really gashing the raiders defense and then. They figured out something in the run game after halftime and I'll be interested to find out the later in the week. Interested to get the the all twenty two film comes out like Tuesday. Look a little what happened but I think just at first glance without really looking into what they were doing on the line maybe differently. They definitely started to go to some more cutback plays where they I thought really were able to take advantage of some over pursuit of the writer side in particular from Jonathan Abram, who you know, we know what he can do. In terms just flying around offensively and having people would kind of sending a message for that defense but at the same time. You can use that aggression against him and I think the Patriots kind of figure that out a little bit and it really hit him with a big plays on a place where he got into the gap, he was near the bulk area but just couldn't make up Adams exactly right and and they're going to have to here's the thing about a player John Neighbor might think they love is aggressiveness in his hitting all that he's got a swagger Jim and I. Hate to say this, but sometimes, you just have to you have to balance that it's hard to tell a guy like that. Don't play this way but Adams wait we should for resod against Christian McCaffrey, over pursues too much when you take the battling new pursue Sunny Michelle Christian McCaffrey, they're gonNA come back will go so Yeah. They just didn't play the run wellness second atoms right they adjusted and you have to give Michelle credit like I said when you go For, an average of thirteen yards of Kerry and I don't know if he's ever average per carry more than seven in a games and you also have saved in job I am. But they did they didn't play offensively were out of rhythm Waller. We'll talk about that I know atoms writing thoughts. Darren WELLM was non factor when you get a lot of good at the bill Belgium at he talked about. How good daring waller as well. Guess what he must have died because they ran every defense coverage double team run in stem and stopped him. So atom I know you you wrote about this mean, what did you hear the game to her? How they? You know bottle up there wall I thought it was a group effort I. think that's what of expected to hear from the Patriots Bill. Belichick obviously didn't go into detail about what he did. I think it was just a lot of deception what they were doing offensively disguising it and Bella check pointed out. Hey, it wasn't somebody covering him necessarily a lot of zone. We played a lot of you know bracket coverage a lot of. Men under there was a lot of different things. Defensively. On Waller but I think it was more just about the looks of they're giving up the line and never letting the raiders. No. Before the play what kind of coverage is GonNa be on Waller? Want Credit Anybody I. Think mccourty would be the one that you would like added. Say. Devin mccourty that Dinnie. Tremendous job on him but it was a little bit of everybody kind of in the mixer.

"Well, because it's just the opposite. Watching tonight. Jonathan Abrams, a hell of Ah, l have a watch. Ah, lot of fun. He just plays through to the point where I don't know that he's going to be on the field. He ran into the damn booger cam earlier with Jamal Adams. You know what he's going to do, but in coverage he was awful. Judah Julian Edelman had the most yards. In a game ever. And he's got a pretty long, illustrious career had his his career best. And for what it's worth, you fantasy football managers or whatever I'm supposed to call you. Ah, you are Whoever's running out of the slot against Seattle. You're gonna have a day. That's two weeks in a row, but back to the action at hand. Yeah, Jamal Adam's Ah, you looked but he wasn't going to help you. What did we say? Even if you projected an extra half a win that gets you tow half a win at this point. I mean, that's that's why can't you just see that as as it rolled off my body and you in the face? I didn't see it was a bolo punch. You had me going one way And then I was looking at that one fist and the other one comes and hits me. That's what it was. S O u exactly just like that. So there's your first big plate was stunned the way they called it. Then there's this play that there's now a big controversy about whether or not the players actually knew the rules. The Dallas Cowboys huge 42 39 win over the Falcons was made possible. Because of this place for the onside kick..

I can't remember all those years it anyways. What are we got on the show today. We're going preview like a man. We have to fantastic games to really talk about in week. Two we got the saints taken on the Rams and the Vikings and the packers we could talk Lamar Jackson. Calamari is just a future of NFL quarterback position. We're GONNA bring on Ohio State's dates player personnel director Mark Pantani for a little facetime interview talked to him about stuff going on in recruiting and go talk about the college players to watch in week three. We really excited about where we're GONNA. Talk about it and trust me. You'RE GONNA WANNA stick around for that interview with Mark Dantonio. He's he's really just kind of risen up through this profession that didn't exist all that long ago start out at Florida with Urban Meyer then went to Ohio state and has been ovid resistant and now for the Buckeyes but this is somebody who was involved involved actively involved in key member of that personnel department and getting guys like Z Q Elliott Joey Bosa Dwayne Haskins even Joe Borough. We've seen what he's done at. LSU This year so we're going to get a chance to pick his brain about what he saw those players is high school players in the whole evaluation process which is is fascinating all right buck before we get to some of these games and some of these other topics off the top one injury that actually. I guess we should say to injuries. We should discuss get Jonathan Abram here in a second his unfortunate injury injury with the raiders but the big breaking news is Sam Darnold Hasmono. Are you kidding me got motto. That's that's not going to be a short term thing because obviously we see you want him to get better but you can't have somebody in the locker room. that's got mono. That's going to be a while. It's GonNa be it's GonNa be a while as unfortunate for him because we really anticipating this a match up with he and Baker Mayfield and the like and for the jets Kinda hearst him because now you know I think it leaves them with Davis Webb. That would probably be the starting quarterback against them that that means a lot. If I'm a fantasy Guy Trevor Simian I think Trevor Siemian Davis Woo wow I really liked it. My fantasy not great have the put a lot of living bill. Get a bunch of carries but we gotta shoulder by the time this gets posted. He might he might be out to because he can't. He can't be wanting running. Done can't play one game didn't sit out but regardless for the jets. This is something to consider like how long has SAM darnold going to be out and how do we continue to build this offense while he is kind of on the sideline to get ready for him to return and how much different is going to be when he returns charge because you know mono will kind of take the life out of you for a little bit and so it'd be tough because you won't be able to be around the building for at least a week or so candy come to maintain his he's going to. I think a month a month you think he's I think minimum month because I look I'm not a doctor but mono drains as you and you so. You're you're endanger of yourself something bad happening but you're also it's contagious so I mean he can't. He can't be at the facility. That's not a one week thing. This is a multiple multiple week thing here for the jets. That's brutal and they've got Cj Moseley might be out in this game. Quinton Williams got an ankle Levian Bell with the shoulder. I mean just is completely decimated. early on in the season here for Adam gays and the jets and the schedule is brutal. Look the Patriots unbelievable unbelievable man they they might be in a division with two teams picking in the top five the jets they might be they may have this thing wrapped up about tober over there ever wrapped up October. It's unbelievable how some sometimes lady face shines on them. We'll see where the play it out but man it doesn't look good Jespin in without their franchise quarterback for you as you say for month. It's GonNa be tough for them to come to hold hold the fort kind of kind of trade water in his absence so we'll see how this plays out but man certainly looks good for the New England Patriots Yeah and the other news. I handed out there with Jonathan Abrams injury look. It's it's there's no secret if one of our favorites we both loved him going through the draft process and just love the passion and the energy and the physicality that he played with and I thought even though he'd missed some tackles calls the other night obviously find out he's got to have a torn labrum torn rotator cuff so he's going to have surgery so you knew he was playing with one arm but even with some of those missed MS tackles. Just you felt you felt his presence in that game the energy and the physicality brought. That's a big loss for the raiders big loss because you always still looking for people that can be enforced is over the middle of feel. Jonathan Abram was dead and even just a game you could tell the impact that he made in terms of patrolling the middle feel Kinda have to tip my hat to the fact that he towards Labor Abram had a rotator cuff injury still continued to play man that speaks volumes about his overall toughness and how committee is to team. Let me just tell you one thing on on this. So sometimes you get to know these guys pretty well through the draft process and it doesn't matter where we rank players. Buck we want them to be successful and you get to know me want. The guys is to to do great and we're rooting for them. We're fans so when this when this news came out we've kept in touch through this whole process even going back to you know during the end of his season season there in Mississippi state and just got to know him and I really liked this kid so I sent him a little texts afterwards buck and I said look doesn't make mistakes bum for you but something greats GonNa GonNa come out of this. You know praying for you thinking about you and then he wrote back. This is what tells you how how wired this guy is. thank you but you're right can't reach goals that have have this year but definitely shooting for defensive player of the year and Comeback Player of the year next year to me like guys that are wired like that. That's kind of like that Russell Wilson wiring wiring though like you said you you kind of speak things into existence. I I love guys that are did look think of life in the way he thinks about it yeah. He absolutely is county. We call it Okay G. R. Kinda Chris Petersen gave us it the attorney but I think he's the right guy to build around and I I will tip to our buddy might may because those rookie showed up their I game Everyone today expended the topic. We saw Josh Jacobs make an impact. We saw the Abram make an impact. We saw others rookie class. Make an impact those guys the right kind of guys and then we'll see if the rest of team can play at a high level while those young guys kind of growing into prominent roles but I like what I'm seeing from the raiders and I think they have to like what they were seeing from. The young guys jumped Abrahams hate to lose them for the rest of this year but man you gotta be excited about what he could be next year and you think about this to Mississippi state players basically weekly having a redshirt right when you look at the Tennessee Titans and what they did get in the best defensive Lineman in Jefferson so he's is GonNa sit out this year. He'll be back next year and they'll get it. It's basically like having another first round pick next year once he gets back on the roster all right. I want to talk about the Saints Rams Rematch. I don't want to talk about the penalty at the end of the game everybody their mother's interference yeah. I heard that yeah I heard something about that and we can get into the game if you want to but I just curious from a talent evaluation team building standpoint which is the area. We like to focus on if I asked you which which one of these rosters has the most talent what's the better roster because two of the best in the NFL The saints or the Rams. What would you say. It's a tough one because the saints have their class. They really brought them back to prominence a couple of years ago but when I I mean the Saints Class I brought them back to prominence but the rams I just like the way the pieces of the puzzle fit for the Rams Yukimi Aaron Donald Utah girly I think that's follows follows beginning to play at a high level still a big fan of Marcus Peters and the like. I think I'm GONNA lean towards the rams. I like Brandin cooks. is very very close but these guys these these teams are built a little differently in both of them had success but I would go with the rams in this little conversation all right so this is a it's a tough one and I think it's very close because I really kind of went..

"Right it was Benjamin Albright. Jonathan Abrams. might be out for the season. check this out and Ben's even got some more information on this that I didn't necessarily have but apparently that he's seeking a second opinion on his shoulder. but it looks like what is the torn labrum torn rotator cuff and labrum toward the first quarter of last night's game he will have surgery this week okay I know he's there's a report out there by second opinion I'm telling you he is going to have surgery on it this week which will effectively lazy with well indices yeah wow. he's he's a really. interesting exciting player right I mean I I think a lot there's an old school safety her mind you right he's the one yeah runs away Steve you see you've got a sought out contact I think the was lower more controlled than usual listen you know day rooms a lot more more kind of wrecking ball reckless you know kind of thing but you know it's kind of fun to watch a throwback kind of player go thought like you know Polamalu you know guy goes that there's six contact and now you're talking about a raiders secondary the plate surprisingly well. a better than people thought they would. now going to be probably without Garion Conley and Jonathan Abrams. and by the way you got to pay you get Pam homes a company come to town while. that's some. that's that's a big blow for the raiders it will the raiders they aim I mean like say they played their best game of the season last night but they kind of well they did play their best game of the season well you of what will be the season I meant to say but yeah you're right of the season yes I guess I should make sure I say that correctly but what will be of the season but honestly that might be about the high point of performances all around maybe Josh Jacobs has about a better game here and there because the stats will will help break one for all along Russian eleven you know hundred fifty are rushing game because he's very talented Tyrone Williams might have a big performance here there Waller might have big performance in here but I mean look AT four percent completion percentage from your quarterback Derek Carr the defense playing is as well as they did we didn't think the defense we can be very good this year and now they're missing their two starting safeties. yeah I that that might be one of the top in performances out in the retrospective what we'll see for the season maybe we'll come back to it and say well the Broncos lost doesn't look as if if the pay the raiders into being good then we come back to that sale the raiders were good so that made sense the Broncos lost on ITS reason to be in bad then we'll make that loss even worse well the guy you got to players that are a vital part of the defense out that's gonna make it look a lot different so I think if you're the Broncos fan used you take away that it you know what happened we got punched in the mouth of the last game in Oakland it happens the office started to look like it was coming together late with the defense to come together time we could have some here let's get to the news that broke right before we came on the air Antonio brown and that sort of catch you up on that just a little bit I mean been you got some more information I don't even know if it's all completely out there so I'd love for you to hear what you can but basically what let's catch people up on what we saw that he's there's an allegation out there is a lawsuit hours a lawsuit a civil suit not a criminal suits filed in Florida by the way where brown lives and Britney Taylor is the. the the one accusing of sexual so it boils down to is several incidents that includes sexual assault and rape of Antonio I entered a brown going there to people who met at fellowship of Christian athletes they were paired up as former athlete she's a former gymnast at at Ellis you would then transfer to central Michigan rental brown went to college as well she owns a gym there in Tennessee is continued on that career track Antonio they hadn't seen each other since college had communicated and then in twenty seventeen about four years I guess they had had any communication also he reached out one to see a picture of her she Santa Fe shot he kind of expressed disappointment in that one of them to see a little more of her and secretary you get the idea later on she chided that in all the cast off later on he tried to couple weeks months later he tried to commission her too I help with these quick twitch ability as a gymnast you know by by teaching and helping him with his game she commissioned and hired other worked out a contract for that and he hired her to do that afterwards after that and after sessions that that would include him call her traveling around to different places that he maintained residences there are several incidents here and I don't know how much as I can say on the air I'm trying to figure out a way to phrase some of this but basically she was showing him a video. are there watching church stuff on her tablet and she was leaning over some he was behind her and she felt a wet spot on her back. and apparently he had was not wearing any clothes and had committed basically sexual assault there. typically stating that in messages that he would joke about that was someone else it was somebody else about that particular particular incident in early March two thousand eighteen brown texted her and and asked if she hated him and as I apologize first offer so much go around me in my actions asked her to train him again assuring that things would be different and she agreed only if you would stop flirting with her and provide separate hotel accommodations when staying with him now course April twenty eight teams began working with in the off season again. loss of thirty incident the alleged rape occurred on may twenty twenty eighteen when brown invited Taylor and another football player trade with them was not named in the lawsuit to go out in Miami after they returned this house the club she was planning to drive tell room but went to brown's home to use the restroom grab some food for the kitchen well she was walking out to grab her arm told everyone to talk to a reporter in the bedroom chatted for a few minutes when she went to walk out of the room the corner Pullar down on the stomach pushing her down the mattresses and then you know goes on to get more graphic from there I don't really want describe this now here's now don't get into but Corder attorneys Taylor backgrounds house next day to retrieve some of her belongings in this says that she approached broad talk about what happened a he told her you made me feel like a real rapist that's the quote from brown to her name and so brown said attorney John Haidar released a statement basically denying all the allegations and saying that any any sexual. allegations any sexual contact was consensual I can tell you by looking at some of the stuff and some of the things she's recently scrub that Instagram and Facebook page from from the internet both of which claim she was engaged to someone's since twenty sixteen I don't know if that's really relevant but that's just more detail wow okay well thank you they even hostelling for that the entire show sorry to give you a lot of props for that because I think it all those details and kind of bring it all to light the best you could basically been working on that since the start of the show so a lot of props to you all right three oh three seven one three eighty five eighty five phone number five six six nine zero is our techs find we do new video up by the way that that will tell you about on the other side right it was between Albright Broncos country tonight okay away day Logan here to ask you how much you're Did the Raiders contact Antonio Brown's agent before Brown apologized?

"Something i wanted to get to the bottom of was did the raiders in fact contact. Rosenhaus awesome tonio brown's agent. I've seen this kind of float around but i'm not sure that this is what happens i wanted to see if either of you know <hes> if he was contacted before we're antonio brown's apology on friday and told that the guaranteed money and his contract would be voided as it was at that point so at that point basically antonio only lebron's going in apologizing knowing that the thirty million is a hit is that something that we know was already told to him before the apology or i don't i think to <hes> the bottom line on that is that they didn't have to i mean he knows as well as anybody once they imposed that discipline. They have the right to go after it so i mean i think he's smart enough to know without having that conversation that that was what they were angling for. It was clear we talked about <hes> when we first saw these letters on wednesday basically all those letters. There's are is is a legal paper trail down the road to say here's what happened. We had we had these issues. We had to find him. This is what went on that's all. Those letters are for <hes> so i think rosenhaus kind of knew he probably explai- tube and there i'm positive on some level even though no it's illegal according to the rules of the n._f._l. Under the c._b._a. I'm positive that rosenhaus was talking to other teams and saying if this happens if the contract is voided if for run out what is the market and i'm sure he knew what it was and so like. Did he know those things. I don't. I'm sure he did was explicitly laid out by the raiders. I'm i'm not sure about how that worked but <hes> i'm sure he knew exactly what the situation was yeah so in other words. He knew the patriots were looking at him and that he could play there. Air instead of explicitly said i'm sure he knew what the market was. When you think of maybe this is like a wild theory and so. I got on tin foil hat. You're so picture that all of us but if <hes> excuse me antonio brown got to the raiders he was happy happy for a little while then started practicing with these guys right maybe gets the training camp and he's like what they're not going to be very good and then he's just decides besides you know what bleep this. I'm just going to act ugly. I'm gonna throw crap all over the walls until i'm just going to keep doing it. Even though you tell me to stop even though you tell me you know i'm gonna find you find me on posting on instagram like i'm going to now make it even bigger mess and then he knows that he enforce himself out because he knows that there's maybe a winner. That will be there for him. I think that it's not out of their own with possibility as i now take my tinfoil hat off and put my reporter reporter hat right back on that. This is something that could have happened because when it's five hours after somebody releases you that you are with defending super bowl champions. There's maybe somebody should look into that right. I mean i think i went once the further with my tin foil will happen i tweeted and it was more of a joke but <hes> as as everything in my life does it relates to seinfeld but there was there was an episode of seinfeld where the mets wanted to hire george costanza away from the yankees and they couldn't just hire him because it would be tampering and they wouldn't be able to go hire them away from team so they told him to do everything he could to get fired from the yankees. He started dragging the world series trophy around he was wearing babe ruth pants from the yankee museum. <hes> everything do get fired so that the mets would be able to hire him like in my mind. Bella check like a go create chaos out there. We need to bring you in. That's the only way we can get you and that's again a complete and total conspiracy. Uh but i like to think that it's true. Let's talk about some of the possible reaction and we can expect here from the raiders because i wanna in a hypothesize what derek carr might say about antonio brown's tweet of bumper cars meaning. He and his brother david had been doing some conversation about antonio brown. That's what i interpreted that tweet demean. I can't imagine it would mean anything else so cars generally very nice well-spoken guy in front of the media very even temperament. Do we expect any crazy reaction from him. Certainly not i mean he's a quarterback right and quarterbacks are always is going to be measured in what they say. Now i do sort of wish that we have been hearing directly from derek carr instead of through really an intermediary as his brother on n._f._l. Network right. I think especially because derek carr was in the locker room today and we were told as he came back in that he was not going to be talking and and that's fine. He certainly has that right and he's a quarterback. He speaks one time a week but i just think it would have been nice to hear directly from derek carr car <hes> since you know he had been nothing but supportive i totally respect dirk are not talking but i think that you know it just it just would have been nice to hear from the quarterback in that particular situation and he doesn't have to but he could've essentially descending out press releases. I mean through his approach. That's what he's doing in. They're not it's not it's not like they're being secretive about it. I think that's that's the one thing i'll say about this is like if it was just some secret that if it was some random person in the media and derek carr was feeding things to get it out there and not talking to the media locally but hey i'm gonna feed this to whoever you you know whatever national reporter and it's coming out saying oh source close to the team said like that would be a little bit different to me than in this case. It's basically his brother going on tv serving mrs mouthpiece and saying explicitly. I talked to derrick this morning. Here is what he said. I think they're being pretty open about it. It just it clearly rubbed antonio radio brown the wrong way and you know we saw the other day he unfolded the raiders and derek carr on instagram and then reformed the raiders but not car like that was pretty telling of where they are have a check dam sure he unveiled the raiders as well now he did. Yes yeah <hes> but you know. I think that was incredibly telling that when he did follow the raiders he did not re follow derek carr. You know i it was pretty clear that that relationship was was heading in the wrong way. Even though derek carr continued to say how close they were and how they've played well after field and here's the other thing it listen it's part of the job we understand but how many times jon gruden was asked how many times micmac was asked just how many times derek carr was asked about the distractions in about everything that's going on and how many times they basically said. You're inventing this you guys the media are inventing the story story. No no weren't by the way to the same thing to the readers out there to the fans out there like these things are not invented. There's a reason isn't that story. Lines are storylines. This was something that was going on and it was bubbling over all the time and it was distracting the team. It was bothering the team. It certainly had been an issue for a while and now it just has has reached that point where they couldn't deal with it anymore but i think it would absolutely not be surprising if it was something that tonio earlier brown was like i need to do this i need to get out and this is my way out and the other thing is it wasn't blown out of proportion either. That's the that's the phrase that like gets on my nerves a little bit. <hes> men like all these things you're saying. They were blown out of proportion. It's blown out of proportion. He's just a wide receivers blown out of proportion. Friggin von miller said that on on a conference call the other day no. It's not blown out of proportion when you're yelling at g._m. In practice right you're posting your fines on instagram. When you ask on instagram to be released win. You recorded your ahead coach with a stencil your head coach with the conversation. Put it on a two minute youtube video in a two party consent state. I don't really think any of these things are being blown out of proportion so i love what jonathan abram had to say on twitter and he put this out just about a little over an hour ago he says in today's world the worst drug there is called attention

AB reacts to fines from Raiders, has new helmet

"We have to address a couple more here. We're gonna start in with exactly what is going on in oakland oakland with antonio brown's so many things have happened. It's hard to keep track of and hard knocks being there to help the situation for the raiders in dealing with their star wide receiver and the various antics surrounding him the helmet issue has been well documented for some time for those who don't know antonio browns helmet that he has used his entire career was deemed illegal by the n._f._l. It wasn't safe enough for antonio so he decided to filed a suit saying that he wasn't enough time to adequately find a helmet. He likes to wear for the games. He filed two different grievances. Both it did not fly with the n._f._l. And he lost both of them so he has had to find a helmet he has reported to camp the newest thing being he has has been fined by mike mayock general manager for missing so much time with the team. Antonio brown has stated how upset he is about these fines being levied on on him but frankly i love antonio brown's charisma. I love the way he uses the media to help him and you got to think about the raiders in with hard knocks with everything around their team right now media wise. There's a lot of scrutiny jon gruden being signed that ten year one hundred million dollar contract trading khalil mack trading amari cooper everyone in the n._f._l. Media is trying to keep tabs on what's going on in oakland and antonio brown by taking taking so much of that media heat. He has really made it easier for guys like p._j. Hall arden key cleveland feral jonathan abrams josh jacobs all these rookies and second year players that really have some potential have not had to deal with this media blitz because antonio has been there to kinda shield them from that and on that side i think that the raiders as an organization as a fan base need to thank antonio brown for taking that heat off of their other players so they can develop and really dig into the system not having to worry about media relations however now with this new grievance hopefully it's nothing between antonio brown and mike mayock. They can just move past. It's obvious that he had to get fined for missing so much time with the

"You know like I said of these every day I mean you'd better something because you see they've been put more reps only million practice I try to go get a little contact if I did you know that I think the majority of the part of the job of you good concept but not really trying to hurt me or take me to the ground too much I don't think you're allowed to take him to the ground too much not when he's not playing in the preseason games for the express purpose of preserving him for the regular season even though he's not technically wearing a red Jersey you don't want to be hitting your own running backs super hard of that takes you back to the first edition of hard knocks is kind of funny when I Jonathan Abrams refused to stop hating the members of the offense even though they were a non contact drills and and the coaches are yelling out of any he he refuses to stop hitting guys until finally grew dimples aside has a conversation with them and it's like Hey man you know you there are leagues where you can go out there and you can have the be the bleep out beat out of you every day and you can make a hundred dollars a week or you can be here and you could not beat up your own guys though the players that were standing around including a broom all right we're good what what will stay here will abide by the rules thank god the NFL is definitely limited the amount of hitting that can be done in pre season now I I like what I'm hearing from lady on bell about the M. Donald though I like the fact that here's this this grizzled veteran I know you missed a year but think about the quarterback to be played with in Pittsburgh Ben Roethlisberger the offense they had that was so potent and and really finely tuned once they would get into the rhythm and lead the the the versification that they had as well with the receiver the able to able to go deep at a running back who can do pretty much anything out of the backfield and so here's **** bell coming from that with Ben Roethlisberger to now a second year quarterback in Sam Donald I really hate.

"It opens up the world to show us who we really are. A._b._c.'s character dare car the character so i just think this is exciting for people to see what team we have reason you go away to training camp is to get away from all the distractions far. Knox is an intrusion it was handed to you're so it's up to us to deal with it. Everyone tidy thing here along with our raiders beat writer michael belkin and also joining us today a veteran of the n._f._l. N._f._l. and your oakland raiders stan route who is a wonderful guest that we have here today with the show and this is a special edition of the vegas nation podcast because we have the first episode of hard knocks in the books and i'm holding down things here in las vegas michaels on the ground in napa where the raiders are holding their training camps also known as h._b._o. Hard knox central so we're gonna talk about all things that you've seen on the show and don't forget you can find this podcast aston review journal dot com slash podcast the vegas nation app vegas nation dot com and anywhere you find your podcast make sure to drop us a comment. Let us know what you think about the show so and i'm getting so much twitter reaction right now about the first episode of hard knocks so stan since you are new to the show. I've got to ask you as a player as someone someone who's been through training camp as someone who started their career with the raiders. What did you think about this episode and what it gave to the world to z. About the oakland raiders <hes> well first off. I have to say that it definitely brings back memory seen the napa valley marriott the practice field <hes> just the locker room inside of the hotel all of the meteoroid thing that it definitely brings the feeling <hes> and just from washing the first episode so i honestly feel like h._b._o. Was a little bit mild with exact canetti peeling back all the layers abduction showing exactly how the sausage is really may but i'm pretty sure that they'll probably ramp it up as the the other after so <hes> get on the season and i think that i think it was pretty good go to one of two start off showing obviously <hes> holly getting <hes> getting relief for simply not show enough to treatment on time or just simply skipping it altogether and not giving the illusion that he wanted as a coach. John grew up milutic too. I think that <hes> for the most part that's something up in a lot of fans may not truly see <hes> you go to the jonathan abrams surfers round pick out of mississippi say how beiber and how boisterous he is he's out there and shell pad cutting people off actually being the cool and basically john grew seven him. Hey let's go ahead and dial back. <hes> we still take care of each other. We're still a team this the n._f._l. College go gotta remember that you gotta know how to practice when you're professional and as you get a little bit older in jonathan haber make gonna be as he gets more years under this league that you want to save your body and preserve it during the week during trend can't can't think about that because when you start after tackle those big ryan back <hes> weakened in week out there you wanna use the in between time it's actually to preserve your body for those battles that you have on sunday and we're gonna get to michael in just a second but i just wanted to follow up on that. Is it a matter. Do you think of abram wanting to prove prove something out there as a rookie or do you think that that's just his nature that he's just that aggressive. I think it's a little bit of both anybody coming out of the s._e._c. You see obviously it's going to be somebody that is battle-tested when it comes to physicality because that's a real football down no matter what <hes> i do believe also a bit there is a part of india wants to prove himself. He's the first round pick <hes> albeit late first round pick but he still wants to prove himself. He wants to show people that a i wasn't overdrafted it matter of fact. I was a little bit under drafted. I should have gone a little bit higher than that and i want to show people that you know what i can't play for this team. I can't be a starter. I can't be the bible league and i think that once he gets to the season and you start to see how much of a grind that it truly is you guys fifteen hard art and then if you're lucky you'll get more after that in the playoff she will soon feed it not hitting in practice or not taking down in practice or not being gene. Extremely physical in practice is not a sign of weakness. It's just starting to being smart because in college. Yes you wanna show that you're the the big man on campus. You want to show everybody that you know what you're the big bad dude on the block things right that once you get to be a professional you wanna work smarter not hard answers inches because you want to go out there and be she man in in training camp yeah but what if you go off in separate show and now you missed in half the season simple because you you want to go out there and show everybody that you're mr big in practice when guess what it's still just practice you wanna make sure that you actually have the number one ability in the in a film basil ability from sunday funder michael. We saw derek carr host a dinner for a lot. It looked like all of the team was there in napa and he was kind of giving abraham that dad look trying to keep abrahams attitude in check during the dinner and kind of going outta making fun of the way they say salmon. What did you think about that. Interaction between derek carr and john at the neighboring probably gave the veteran quarterback interact with young team. He goes you at a quarterback for lead that locker and you want to be able to connect with all fifty two others in the locker room now during training camp and eighty nine others and so are we saw about interruption between veteran and ricky. It was pretty cool. You know i'm sharing with john rudy and others. <hes> you know coach excerpts players. Jonathan april weren't telling on an eight dollars five looking for you and so i looked at his house bruce gain that are very natural. You know you don't get a feel out rooting rooting these things. Don't get your cars thing people are they're very organic. Which is what are not were filmed is trying to accomplish. You're trying to catch you guys in the watch our mic now with general foreign korean ferral jonathan haber <hes> you go route from rooms though open without the hard knocks their actually male. You still feel personality so you can feel jonathan abram love hordes who are learning go berserk. He may dynamic. I remember trying through in this first ever thought it seemed like the first the episode of flew by and i was curious on one being a scam two thousand five point renew gruden. Uh oh i t meeting. I don't want my rookies would be a events that you heard as well when you angrily or our record is different people that airs <hes> back when i was a rookie. That's something that i heard but i didn't hear from the head coach. We heard that from basically our leader secondary charles woodson <hes> and it was more so from the standpoint of a lot of time back in third era the rookie hazing would be a lot of the time i would just shaved the heads of the rookie where they'd be walking around ball. <hes> maybe time to the goalpost <hes> dump them in the ice tubs things like that now now is for a <hes> i believe yeah abram as far as <hes> the the rookie duty of making sure that you have snacks for the better and things like like that yes we had to do that. <hes> charles looking to not arouse get our heads shake or anything like that but we basically got hours towards the end did the season whenever you have to do that rookie dinner where you take out all of the veterans and i remember what the rue grit over there in the city and and it was my cell baby in washington and kirk morrison our third round draft pick linebacker and i remember that bill came out to be about i believe twenty thousand something <hes> and monitoring this is just dinner at a stakeout dinner at a stakeout in guys. Were ordering in bottles of wine that came straight from napa badly that i'm talking about. There's maybe three or four bottles of that specific wine flavor in the the entire country order louis the thirteen olien like that <hes> opened the best yeah that was that it was something new to meet a here. Jon gruden say that like burr vadim. I in training camp get. I don't want the rookie being hayes and i think that's more so along this new ways era of you know back in miami. You stole the bullying scandal with incognito so i think that was more so jon gruden just not wanting anything to get out of hand but as far as the rookie happen to make sure that they had us next for the veteran of the rookie and making sure that the <hes> the veterans have chicken for on the plane for away games a waitress thing by that. I think that jon gruden probably still all for that. He just doesn't want player getting their heads. Shaved players getting picked on getting tulsa the ice tubs things like that because let's face the way a little bit from practically active takeaway from meeting takes away just from the exact s. y. Training camp with even implemented to begin with an s to grow with your teammates that's to give better and then ultimately you wanna see who were the fifty three that you're going to go to war with bill <hes> that was different for me to hear out of coach gruden mel but i think i existed the essence of the point he was trying to convey and when we talk about these personalities that were saying develop clip i wanted to ask we'd never really seen this side of. Derek carr michael the sunscreen or the baby oil sunscreen of the bible. They're joking around around within foster monroe rookie titan messing around their car there on the field when you think about that side of it. You're the beat writer. You're out there all the time. Mm you see these guys day in day out. Have you ever seen this much personality from derek carr. I'm i think i have seen just the way he made responding the way they talk about him and that's part of the reason why there was a report last year how you know essentially elite senior rating pretty strongly that caller would lost walker room or some aspect of that and this is following the game name one name or after being into the turf you know he had were facial expression though was benched there at article as you something being you know not preceding a leader on like and i recall tidying lee smith or unprompted no one has to interview pointing to speak in the locker room to reporters and he went off for hundreds of words a defending if quarterback when you see that and you see other examples throughout practice and rotherham interruptions at that if you know the man that the raiders are following khalid and so i wanna cry he you know sort of conversation i e without a groundwork or i think they've got <hes>. You know we a little bit. <hes> your car family. I think we're probably going to be more a little bit or dining room but we haven't yet made it. Why or <hes> you know the background stories released to your daughter but there was supposed to be a ring fister wherever she guide her in the present commit a lot of work. There's just are for the increase in introduced on the evening of.

"So specific Grimmett random excellent red box move, the Mummy Returns. This a red box movies. Yeah. No, man. I'll your employer present danger clear rather. They don't you. Not learn present day. It's a great movie. But no. But you do I miss it. I don't like I've only I think is the experience when you're browsing. Ooh, you see something. And then this got returned. And it's on the new release. Yeah. Yeah. That was also thing he gets excited. Right. Like, you say, oh, we're going to go get this movie just came out. And then you pick up the boxing for those young younger listeners. It would have the actual DVD case of front. So you know, what movie it is? Yeah. But then behind it. Yes. It would be the blockbuster case. Correct. That's the one you had to death. So when you have to take it. So you would see it and you'd pick it up and there's nothing behind like. Or even worse. I go back even further and you pick it up, and then there's the wrong movie. That's actually a really bad. Yeah. I go back further. It was VHS VHS initially. Yeah. Just like the little sleeve. Yeah. Next. We go back to the National Football League. Adam Schefter reported this morning. That teams have told Antonio Brown that a trade is likely by Friday. Derek Carr of the raiders openly campaigned for Antonio Brown to be a raider, the interesting part is there a cars also on the trading block allegedly. But there's a lot of great options. It looks like it's the Redskins. It's the titans or the raiders shred Tonio Brown. But I guess if you wanted to Pittsburgh, do you think he's handled it the right way? Zillow people don't believe thinking maybe gone a little too far. Yeah. I think in the beginning. It was very understandable. Particularly when the GM for the Steelers put his foot his mouth by calling them kids and say, Ben has the right to talk to them kids. Like, all right. Like, clearly, you are making into new Browns point that this. He gets the carry himself, right? Like like, an owner pretty much. But then like some like just the league. A little too far a little too much on Twitter. But at the end of the George it's ridiculous. He was massing or two. Yeah. Thing is this. If this dude was an NBA player like it'd be normal. Like, no one would care just the NFL. You elicit, you're right. But he's healthy. Right. Okay. Bring them on bring them on down like you. He's an elite player at that position. And he's getting paid decent money. Good money. But not what market value is at this point. So the idea that they're going to punt on him because they're sticking with their court. I don't know, man. I like I just feel like that's a failure from management's perspective on being able to manage egos, manage personality, there should be a way it shouldn't be the Steelers should not be looking at all season where getting rid of when the best running backs and when the best wide receivers and expecting themselves to be better on the other side. I don't think that's necessarily good business, but the NFL's ruin differently. Lastly here, do you? Remember, the tennis player the Wimbledon finalist? Jeannie Bouchard who had the Twitter bet with the guy. About the Super Bowl a couple years ago. Well, apparently, she's she obviously honored that bet. They did go out on a date after and now FOX has approached her and Jonathan Abrams is doing a romantic comedy about the entire episode are done of the roof. Yeah. The from Bleacher report known on that jump potato rooms. No, this is Jonathan Jonathan Abrams. He's a director. All right. Well, good firm. Yeah. Are they still dating? I don't know what would be dove. If the guy a few date they've gone on Sundays. So like Yoma, man. Really, yo good for man. He scored and has going to be in a movie never not him. But he's based on this pretty cool, man. That's pretty shoot your shot..
