"They did in May. Stat of the day. That of the day here comes that was stat of the day. And this isn't a team that's fully assembled when you think about it. With 34 games to go, the Dodgers can go 500 for the rest of the season. They would still set a franchise record for wins with 107. Yes, peaking too soon. Oh, oh. Okay. Okay. See what you did there. All right, we'll get some phone calls here. John Gruden, we've reached out to Jon Gruden numerous times since he was fired by the Raiders, but he appeared at a Little Rock touchdown club meeting. And somebody's always got a camera there and John was talking about what happened when he got fired by the Raiders. I'm not going to say anything, but honest things here. I'm ashamed about what has come about in these emails. And I'll make no excuses for it. It's shameful. But I am a good person. I believe that. I go to church. I've been married for 31 years. I got three great boys. I still love football. I've made some mistakes. But I don't think anybody in here hasn't. And I just asked for forgiveness, and hopefully I get another shot. All right. He might be too famous, give him another shot. I don't know what going to church and being married has anything to do with what kind of coach you are. But he did make mistakes and does he get another chance? Yes. He was a Little Rock, probably what we call the Bible belt, he's trying to ingratiate himself with the people there. I go to church. I married, I have great kids. That sounds like, you know, you're trying to. You're trying to curry favor from the hometown crowd. Yes. Shouldn't he have said sorry? I guess let's see what happens after the lawsuit, because he's suing the National Football League. And we have invited him on, but the last correspondence was he's unavailable. I mean, what was the wording he used there? He said, I'm embarrassed and shamed. And a shame, nice. Of what transpired with those emails or he said some kind of things like that. Play it again, Mark. And I just asked for forgiveness and hopefully I get another shot. Now, Arkansas did flirt with John Gruden back and I think 2012. And he said, I think it was light flirting of maybe becoming Arkansas new head coach. Maybe he's trying to zero in on the SEC. Try to coach there. Maybe you get a second tier team in the SEC? Yes, Todd. Now turning on the audience and telling them that everyone has made a mistake. There are different levels of mistake. So I found that kind of interesting too. Look it's all in together. We've all made mistakes. I hate when somebody says, you know, everybody makes mistakes and nobody's we understand that. Who amongst you has not sinned? That was a big butt. Yeah. Yeah, Pauly. The tough part for Gruden, you know, objectively is he's got three strikes against him. He's got off field issues that are still pending. On the field, he's a 500 coach. He has a Super Bowl win, but he's a 500 coach. One 17 to one 12. You know, and he didn't really get much better with the Raiders. And then he's almost too famous in two coverable. It's like, if you want, if you're an owner who wanted to bring in a coach, you don't want baggage as you enter. But can he get to the point that Rick Pitino did, where we thought, you know, Pitino went to Greece to coach, but then came back, now he said iona, can John Gruden get to the point and what Jon Gruden's ego allow him to coach, let's say, Bowling Green. Youngstown state. That's a good comparison. Rick Pitino seems to have more high end seasons though when he coached. Well, Pacino is a better coach. You know, watch more successful. Yes. Patino has a track record where and plus we're watching what's happening with the Raiders that a lot of these first round draft picks Gruden reportedly said no to Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, first on draft picks with the Raiders or washing out players that were drafted with Mike mayock and Jon Gruden. Jon Gruden won a Super Bowl. Jon Gruden has a look. If John Gruden doesn't coach the Raiders, he would not have this popularity because he was Chucky, and then all of a sudden, he took that persona and became an analyst at the mothership, but I think John was there what 8 or 9 years. I think John's disappointed that ESPN didn't have his back when he went through all of these things. Let's see how this all plays out with the NFL. I think that that's interesting. Does he win it? Then people will say, well, you want a Super Bowl with Tony dungy's roster. Which is true, but John did get John's roster with the Raiders that got to the Super Bowl that lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You got to give John credit for that. But John is a character, very charismatic. Can he get a second chance? The apple. It's very apples and oranges, but John Gruden or an urban Meyer. Who's coaching at any level first? I'm not trying to utilize it. But they have different types of baggage. Like Gruden's is specific. There's emails that are stamped and we can read them. Click on them. There's a lot of stories about urban Meyer at many places, but there's less facts. There's less presentable evidence or whatever you want to call it. Yeah, you had the moment in the bar in Columbus and in that that's because there were videos there. But we didn't see issues in Jacksonville. We heard about issues in Jacksonville. It was his strange hire to begin with, and even getting a job at Fox was a strange hire. Because it felt like all of that credibility that he had, he left that in Jacksonville. I don't know that you tune in and you go, I want to listen to him. I know what he did. And this goes back to urban is still popular probably in most parts of Florida or Gainesville and certainly popular in Columbus. So you have two markets that probably still appreciate urban Meyer. But after that, the rest of the country doesn't. So when Fox brought him back, I thought, that's an interesting choice to bring him back. But as far as getting another chance, I don't think he gets another chance as a head coach. I think John Gruden will get another chance for some reason.

I watched him last night, go to the plate and get worked over. He got struck out on three fastballs. Then he broke the bat over his leg. You know, if you do it, then you have to break your bat, right? And it looks really bad if you go. I remember Bo Jackson's the first who ever did that. Where I went, oh, wow. Yeah. I didn't think about that until you brought it up. Pete Alonso, that can't be the first time he's broken a bat, has he probably. That's out of anger. Do you practice that? I wouldn't want to do it on national TV and with and be out three to 5 weeks. Well, he did with. And then if you whiff on break in the bat, yes, time. But even if you've broken the back before, there could be that occasional time where you just have a deep upper thigh brews in front of everyone. You've just embarrassed yourself because that one time it didn't take. Yeah. And then you're on the see, when you go on the disabled list or the injured list, people are going to ask you, what would happen? Who was it in the World Series who had the tarp roll over their foot or Vince Coleman was the St. Louis cardinals? Got caught by the tarp. Of course. Last I looked the tarp won't move unless somebody moves it, but Vince got injured by the tarp. And if you do get injured, how did you get injured? I took a fast ball right into the ribs. How did you get injured? I'm stupidity. All right, here you go. Pauly is a big big build up here to an incredible stat with the Dutch. I think I may have oversold it. Okay, so the LA Dodgers this year are first team to 90 wins. 90 and 38. They're dealing with like walker Bueller out, Trevor Bauer out, may comes back, Clayton Kershaw has been out. Yeah. They have outscored their opponents this year by 287 runs. That's almost a hundred more than the Yankees. And that's getting historic. At this point in the season, the Dodgers have played a 138 games. They've outscored their opponents by 287 runs. The last time that happened, that 78 years ago, 1944 cardinals actually, the Dodgers in 2002, the only four teams in history that have been this good run differential wise in history are the 39 Yankees, the 27 Yankees, the 44 cardinals and 36 Yankees. This is kind of galactic what they're doing. The only team in the past generation that's close to what the Dodgers are doing this year are the Yankees of 1998 who blew through everybody. They were a 114 and 48 crews to the World Series that year. So the Dodgers are and they're actually getting better as a season goes along. They're beating their opponents by more runs in August than

We say good morning to those watching on peacock or streaming partner Fox Sports radio iHeartRadio and the radio affiliates around the country, NFL, big cut down day, yesterday, some names. If you're a college football fan, and you kind of run down the list, you're going, oh, I know that guy. Kellen mond. Josh Rosen, OJ Howard, taco Charlton. So there's a few of them. Few of those names in there. And when it comes to the NFL Draft, everybody likes to think that they're an expert. Every year. Oh, you know, I'm hearing, you know, that guy is going to be a star. Right? Remember Josh Rosen 2018, UCLA quarterback. Look like he was the pro ready prospect. He was replaced after just one year in Arizona with Kyler Murray. He was cut by the Cleveland Browns yesterday. Last year, the Raiders selected Alabama tackle Alex leatherwood. All right, a tackle, Alabama. Can't miss. He was drafted at 17 in the first round. There were people at the time who said, oh, that's a reach. Still a highly rated prospect. He was cut yesterday. Making that transition from college to the pros has never been easy. And it's tough to really handicap that, where you go, he can't miss, or how did I make it? How did that guy become a star? And the NFL is littered with those stories. But the reality is nobody has any idea how these players careers will shape. And yesterday cut down day, a perfect reminder of exactly what we don't know. And I mentioned some of these players, Kellen mond, was drafted 66th overall last year. One spot higher than Davis mills, and at the time, if you go back, oh, handwriting's on the wall for Kirk Cousins. Kellen mond, you know, he's got first round talent. I went, okay. Alex leatherwood knows Jon Gruden, Mike mayock. Josh Rosen was tenth overall by the Cardinals in 2018. Now in fairness to Rosen. And I thought that he was pro ready too. He played for an Arizona team that had a horrible offensive line, and he didn't play well. And then all of a sudden you got cliff Kingsbury, you got the number one pick and he's going to take his guy and Kyler Murray. And I thought, okay, Rosen may be a chance to latch on to somebody else. But you can go back through the draft through history here. I mean, Matt leiner, quarterback, one of the greatest teams of all time. He washed out? That was another one of those. He can last ten years. He could be one of those guys that plays for ten years, whether he starts or he's a backup. OJ Howard. If you said, all right, let me kind of choose aloud a tight end. Here's an Alabama Titan. 19th overall pick 2017 by Tampa Bay. Gone. Laquan treadwell selected 23rd overall Vikings, 2016. Gonzo. So you have Jared Davis. Back in 2016, Lions took him 21st overall. Gone. You could go down the list and you go, because if you follow college football, you're aware of these names. And then the dolphins kept a quarterback yesterday. And if you love college football, and if you watch random college football teams, then you know who we does anybody know who the dolphins kept at quarterback. Pauly? I didn't see their final roster. Well, I'm just saying. One double a? No. Hint. Give me a hint. Did they bring back pat white from West Virginia? I loved him. No, I loved that way too. A bunch of mountaineers cut yesterday though. Will Greer? Will Greer, yeah? Tavon Austin. Oh. I thought tavon Austin was going to be a guy who gets a hundred catches every year. Why didn't he end up being tyreek hill before tyreek hill? He was the guy who set up to do that. What the heck? I don't know. Dang it. 'cause I would watch him and I go, God, you just put him in space and he's gone. And then he's in space now. He's gone. Because nobody picked him up, but I thought tavon Austin was going to be one of those fast west Welker's, where it's just like, I'm going to have a hundred catches, but I'm going to make you pay. With like ten or 15 of these. All right, so the dolphins quarterback. And it was a big deal to me because I remember watching one full game. Because I thought he had a lot of talent. He was fun to watch. Let's play on the West Coast late night. Knowing you. Not late night. Their games would probably be newish, like they were always an early game. He plays big 12. He plays in a state where there's another football team in the state. Iowa? No.

Jon Gruden Resigns as Raiders Coach Over Decade-Old Offensive Emails
"John Gruden has always been kind of a wild child in the NFL always been a little bit of a loose cannon, if you will. And I believe he was also he was also the coach of the Oakland Raiders in like the 90s. And then he went to the Buccaneers and led them to the Super Bowl very complicated. But then he rejoined the Raiders in 2018 after he was an analyst on Monday Night Football. Do you remember those things he used to sit down with the quarterbacks? And it was like Gruden's corner. I've never been a big fan of Jon Gruden. I'll be very honest. One in 2002, that's right, my memory's not too bad. I'm not going to be an apologist for Jon Gruden. Okay? I'm sure he lives a complicated life like most people in the NFL. But this recent saga involving in his resignation slash termination is disgusting. And the national Football Association is in many different ways. In enterprise that is built on a House of Cards. The entire structure of how many of the teams are filed as nonprofits on how almost every stadium is built thanks to taxpayer dollars. There's a lot of corruption that exists in the national football, the National Football League. And so it came out a couple days ago that John Gruden is going to be fired, or it has to speak out for his racist and homophobic emails over ten years ago. And I shrugged my shoulders and I actually didn't know where this one was going to go. Because John Gruden signed a ten year 100 million dollar deal with the Oakland Raiders. And now so he technically resigned whatever he says, I have resigned as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be distraction. Thank you to all the players coaches and staff and fan fans of raider nation. I'm sorry I never meant to hurt anyone, John Gruden. And so it was revealed in some of these emails. And based from what I've said, seen should have said something's probably not no, was he joking around in private in a context that none of us can understand? Yes. He incited Joe Biden, insulted Joe Biden I can't even say what he called Joe Biden on air. It's kind of hilarious. Called Roger Goodell, a certain name. I'm no fan of Roger Goodell. So if this whole thing is like a Roger Goodell, apology tour, but here's what really matters. Here's the question. In the National Football League, do they ever allow people to do bad things and continue to participate? Like murder. How about rate Ray Lewis and his legacy of the unsolved double murder? Or how about you remember this one? You remember ray rice, who literally punched his fiance in an elevator? It was an elevator, right? Which gained total notoriety following the indictment he was released by the ravens and suspended, and now rice would be reinstated after he successfully appealed the league's decision. And this whole thing with John Gruden is this question of should you be judged by things you have said in private ten years ago to destroy your current

"Not there yet. But i it's just it's looking pretty good for both sides especially herber right now. I think the missing element on the rams is. They don't have bet same defensive coordinator they had last year and not that the the new one is any bad. It's just that he obviously what he's doing. The chargers a pretty special. Yep yep. you're talking about brandon staley now grand. It's the rams as the d. coordinator going the chargers unique guys talking to because i'm fascinated by him and tiny shane about him and he's just he's persistent and all the details which course. That's what we always embraced right all the little details and you know making sure everything's covered that you have an answer for everything and and he just lets guys coach and shane and i know that sounds silly. But so many other places look shoulder and question what you're doing. Why you're doing it right and mash shane. Men did that with him and It's refreshing for him to be in a situation where you can go. Because he's he's very capable is an excellent football coach right. So staley's air. With the chargers raheem morris longtime assistant coach. Barry good coach. He is a new d. See what the rams so you know. There's some there's gotta be like you said there's gotta be a change in an adjustment period. Some i don't. I don't think you can just bounce from one coordinated with new coordinator in everything operates the same. I don't think so so lovey was coordinated for me. Love is me on the chicago when i replaced him with. Larry maher may who is a very much head coach and longtime coordinator league and just that outstanding coach and he came in and hard to change was very very hard because they were so attached to love. And i think it's the same thing In la know. I i really do. I think it's the same thing that the attachment and he he did things differently. He's very creative with those guys and he he got guys in defense in a position to make plays in. This is just running the defense. And that's a big deal. That makes him too little unique in league. So if brennan's daily is so good as a defensive. Mind mike than what is wrong. The chargers run defense. They are at the bottom of the league in terms of stopping the rush. And now nick jobs and kareem hunt. They run on. Everybody in sunday was no obscenity. Yeah yeah one hundred sixty yards for chub and sixty one for kareem hunt who last week was also the team's leading receiver. If you can believe that so tell me now..

"Fact of the raiders. Back field on wednesday to start practicing preparation for what. It's a very big game in denver against the broncos the nfl as as mad as the league is over. What happened in john gruden's in particular other not going to hold up the train. Just on the raiders. Pliers can wrap their head around what just happened to their head. Coach wanted changes for them as they try to go about winning a bunch of a bug games. That's not gonna happen so they gotta get it together as quickly as possible and In in that regard can kind of feel for those guys a little bit. There must be a billion thoughts that are going through guises heads right now as they as they sit and dwell on this thinking about getting back to work on wednesday on top of that they gotta then set it all aside to try to win a football game. It's not the easiest thing in the world to do in a very curious to see. How the raiders. React to it. I fell sunday in the lost. The chicago bears. I thought that there was something that was there. There was out there. i didn't. I've never seen guys dropped balls. They dropped against the chicago bears on on on sunday. I've obviously the raiders have been known to be heavily penalized team but it went way. Overboard with the penalties with guys are running into each other at times. I felt like the resistant. jerry west. One time told me this at this level at the professional level the highest level. Possible whether you're talking about basketball. Nfl even if you could be off. A percentage point of a percentage point of a percentage point of a percentage point mentally in focused lies at this level. And you will get your hats handed to you because those other guys aren't that good and the raiders. They didn't get their hats headed but it was obvious that there was something going on at least in my for my perspective. I mean it was the worst game. They played all year. I'll be by a bio by a country mile and it makes sense. I mean like you know it knows that whenever ford the for the wall street journal op broke the story about the initial the racist comments about the war smith get it. Yeah i mean right. that's it's jarring. It's jarring to learn about your head coach using this kind of language about your head coach. Somebody the leader of your franchise in a lotta ways. You know who tells these guys he loves is is trying to rally what you find out that he actually talks a different way behind with like could al-qaeda distraction but he how could it not like you said now we're at this point where this is unprecedented like i cannot remember a story quite like this in the nfl very at least following the nfl. Wetherby a fantas- journalists is an unprecedented situation that these players are not going to have to deal with a lot of ways on israel for right as certainly this week. Who knows what's going to happen. What we forward at what kind of trajectory the season takes off. But it's a man. Has a huge distraction. Had to be going into the game. And now i can't imagine i cannot imagine Just like if no ninety six hours. This was not an issue and now the these emails mercy's reports emerging. You have a totally different viewpoint. You know allow these guys. I'm sure on somebody they trusted really cared about. It's it's i mean there's a there's a professional component to this. There's obviously a much stronger. Personal voted off to the discuss. Clearly these were. John gruden personal feelings in a lot of ways so Like you said the season continues and it now with this football team is going to have its character tested as a. I can't remember how the team having having expected. Tested on mytalk following. And i've been texting with a With the raiders player at day. And honestly you know the the the the his reaction is trying to figure out what's going on in the locker. Mouser ruin villain. What's the what's the tone And you know it's it's literally Early towel. i don't know you know really that that tells you where this really is for for them. Now granted you know mondays guys by the time. This hit The other raiders have gone through their monday. You know Their usual monday the day after game. You guys get in. They get lifted. They get treatment But then it's a see you on wednesday so the only thing anyone anyone's really been doing Since then is texting to each other. But it's not gonna be really honestly. I don't believe until guys are able to look each other in the. I truly Fifty-three meant strong in that locker. Room to kinda a good feel of where it is and even at that point. You don't really know But i i can imagine You know i. I would think if this was if i was on. This team is part of the leadership. Council guys like You know. Derek carr and you know all the other the captains of this team in the leadership Part of the st max. Crosby alec ingold guys like that. I would probably. It's probably worth again hour or so At some point when they do get back to work to just sit down and talk things. That talk about the exhibit. Let everyone be able to express themselves out at what they're thinking. What they're feeling whether it's about jon gruden whether it's about moving forward Y'all because because in a way Sam trust was betrayed. Yeah you know. Jon gruden pretended to be portended. I should say you know one way one in reality maybe was a different way. You know what i'm saying in when that kinda realities In the face a win it especially when it comes to somebody that that you know well in that respect if your player you know that your leader It's difficult sometimes process hurtful on a. I mean a number of levels right like betrayed. Trust at any point when you have when you really trust somebody in count on somebody for leadership. There's devastating component to that regardless. What circumstances are when you read the contents of what these emails are about. Bidding in the kind of language used The comments that were made. Yeah i mean. I just i just upside down world as a player i mean i can't i can't imagine i can't even i cannot even imagine What would these guys are feeling in. I hope we we hear some. We're gonna hear from some players of course throughout the course of the week and just like you said really curious to see what the reactions are. What they what they tell us. You know publicly in four serious about how everything is going to be handled behind closed doors but yeah. The trust component gone completely fractured betrayal at me. There's a number of emotions i imagine. A lot of these players are feeling at this point in time and not you said not a lotta time to to really deal with that because there is still has a job to do these guys football players and the season continuous. So yeah a lot suggest in very over little amount of time. You can't like don't wanna you don't wanna be death. A very surreal components of this. Because again raiders were one of the main stories in the nfl In a really positive way nine days ago. Bathroom after rio started You know this is another disaster in a franchise that you know for the last twenty years. Applied by disastrous. Finally when you straighten out the person that many thought were responsible for leading. That wasn't what you thought. He was at also disappointment. Is is an understatement. I'm sure for players. We'll see how holly deal with other process at real time. It's it's i mean. It's devastating is number story in the country right now and it's it's devastating devastating component of this again. Just nothing acceptable about embiid any Personal election Back in the day. I was covering was a columnist Los angeles Starring mick libbers In the playoffs against golden state warriors. The big story today is that raiders head coach Jon Gruden resigned. A bunch of emails leaked of him saying horrible, horrible stuff. Misogynistic, racist, homophobic things, and you know, I look around at my life and I think of my friend Marcel, who such a wonderful human being. And I think of my fiance. I think of my friend Arthur, whose husband Brian is fantastic. And those are all people in groups that John Gruden's comments like attack and say, I don't know. I wonder like, did I not know the real John Gruden? Now here's a statement John Gruden released. He said, I have resigned as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders, and do not want to be a distraction. Thank you to all the players coaches, staff and fans of raider nation. I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt anyone. "So from the outside jon. Gruden can seem almost cartoonish at times. We've seen him putting on quite the show and hard knocks for example. Everybody right now has dreams. Don't take guys right everybody. Nfl dream of making any nfl. I got a dream of winning the bowl. I got a dream of being in a pro. I'm really not into dreams anymore okay. I'm into nightmares. You gotta end some that. Vicky cover the seam up close. What did the players say. Gruden is like behind closed doors. The things we're optimistic is always looking ahead kind of pump them up a little bit. He's very funny so uses that both the to kind of courage him and also to kind of knock him down to peggy. Who wants to get bigger point across. The energy is off the charts. He's like here early the morning. He's nonstop he wants to as you. I was players. They kind of feed off of that and and time during waller. I thought i had a good point. Because you're the giants a huge playbook bushes these guys and different ways and they responded waller definitely you can see. He's one of the best players in the league now and yet he has gotten better every year under john. He's definitely credits. John lott with his progress. What has car had to say about his relationship with his head coach or you long says they semi two texts all day and they like show pictures of their dogs and the kids and it's been cool by which i think is probably partly true should take both a little bit. I think you know. John can be tough at times and john's even said that dirksen good job of like dealing with his craziness like john. Netflix emits he's kind of maniacal times can kind of fly off the handle on a huge emotional ranges. I think it's a good job of learning how to deal with that. And not take things personally and just kind of realize you're working towards the same goal so either good well as we've discussed jon gruden hasn't actually one. That many games has the raiders head coach this time around and for a franchise with the motto. Just win baby. That would put his job under threat but vic as he wrote gruden is not on the hot seat yet because of that ten year contract he signed back in two thousand eighteen so with all that in mind do you think gruden's feeling real pressure to put up someone's this season or does he feel like he's still got time to build this team into a contender recuse. Time is not as you're getting fired anytime soon. I could see at some point him just like you know what it's not worth i'm miserable. I'm putting all his energy into it. I'm not having fun. Like i thought it would. And so i could see him walking away and a couple of years. They can't get over the hump. But i don't think he's danger again fired. I mentioned mark davis. When he gave him the highland. He said it was the happiest day of his life so he gave. He gave a guy. You know harmless dollars. And he's like happy. Which tells you how much you love. Jon gruden your win. A sony has the pay much every year last year. Was coordinator paul. The mike joe mic. Mac might be on the hot seat or even. Even derek falter the playoffs. "Reports of him being up and after blowing up his veteran offensive line. Jon gruden has now moved onto his third recipe. A young offensive line and sticking with the quarterback who many people thought would be traded by now. Derek carr vic. Are you surprised by this approach. I'm surprised surprised. That has lasted this long at this because i wasn't sure personalities were were fit but i think it would john's is discovered is derek is pretty good gents card put some rotary glide cow dirk cars. You really good arm. He's a very smart guy. He grew up watching film of his brother. David car breaking down film at age also definitely knows how to read a defensive make adjustments this is a live audible by sarah car he sees this blitz. He's audible and he's going to throw the weak side hook is that is top two or three quarterback mental play in the nfl. Very few quarterbacks can do that their cars definitely top twelve fourteen quarterback in the league. Those guys are not easy to replace. So i think joss calicut the mark the last few years. But that's not really a better fit for. That's not going to be improvement. So i'll keep blowing with derek and build up. I think there's a huge ceiling for derek carr. He's proven that and it's up to us as a coaching staff to improve Around him were consistent. Come up with an offense. It really allows him to soar into another level. He's been very clutch. His career pointed to come from behind. Williams is pretty good. So i think We'll see how this goes this year but it's a big year for both these guys believe it or not. "Turn around year to year and the league is setup on that. He didn't say anything mike. Mayock how about stepping up to the plate and turned into mike gone and saying. We're gonna make the playoffs this year. We have a good enough team. And if we don't dizza problem. You're in las vegas and eight just at the craps table because they need to make the playoffs already. Jon gruden has a ridiculous contract. Mike mayock was a talking head on television when they gave him the gm job. I don't know if he's a pen. Pusher pencil pusher whatever. You wanna call them because he's not making all the decisions but chris. Enough is enough with the raiders. Come on it's ridiculous. They started the year eighty three last year. Rob gmi wrong. They started eighty three. The three years gruden's been they're they're they're canadair. Customer has been the start strong and fissile right every. There's not like david one games. Chris wright didn't they kansas city last year early on. I know they. They've shown promise here and there but they haven't been able to finish the job so let me ask you this route. Let's cut to the chase. If they don't make the playoffs washer happen. John goons should be can mike. Mayock should be period if that's a real organization if they're really trying to win if this is just a a love fast because the owner loves jon gruden and the grounding walks on then. He'll be coach forever. Chris 'cause 'cause when you have that kind of relationship is not built on result. And i keep saying sports as a short menu wins and losses and the raiders of loss way. Too many games would some of the talent that they have so enough with. Jon gruden do. We have to go back twenty years ago when he was a coach box. Go chris look at his last four or five years in tampa. He was bad that the team was bad. So now you look at jon gruden and use during those two together. It's been like eight or nine years to make the playoffs. I hear you out. And so i'm in agreement. What you're saying is jon. Gruden should be on the hot seat. And i am in agreement with you on that. Here's the thing and you alluded to it. I don't think he is now if they go they win. Three or four games finished last in that division. Then yeah he might. He might get fired but we all remember..

"You get into country music. No not really. But i went to school for music. I was as basically at a music school. Wow the more you know all right anyway give us the handicap. I just take it. I don't think i've ever heard you talk about music wines. Well i don't talk about it. But i did. I did want to mention though Rl stein the most famous Ohio state alum right. I don't think so harshly. Always it okay. There you go listen. Thirteen and a half is kind of partaken. Me off of leaning minnesota. I wanted minnesota. Because i think it's an under game. A pj flack wants to establish. The run wants to control the clock. That's what minnesota does and they're really kind of set up for success in that way because they return one of the best running backs an ebrahim in the big ten they return all five offensive linemen. They wanna keep ohio state off the field and the more the if they can limit the number of possessions th they give themselves a decent shot and on the other side of the ball. Ohio state has a brand new quarterback and cj stroud who. I think eventually ryan day is going to start to take advantage of having probably the best wide receiver duo in the country but early on. He's indicated that stroud is going to be handed off in slowly. It's not going to be all at once. So i think today tonight is the night they want to keep a lot of pressure off of stroud. I think both teams run the ball. I think the clock moves and there's weather in the forecast up there in minnesota. Eileen under sixty one tonight in this game the number coming off fourteen takes me away from any any action on minnesota though so the late money on minnesota and to me this game answers. The question does ohio state reload dies. Alabama you know. There's a couple of teams clemson that. Yeah these are the teams that seemingly the fact that ed all three of those teams have new quarterbacks. And you go. Oh my god down year. It's like well no actually. These are the three favorites. It's like do they reload and if so do do they reload the first game and if so does day play it so conservative that they may be win by ten because they can almost guarantee but not guarantee but have a high chance of winning but not tried to extend the lead because that means playing high variance. And you might lose right. It's if you say. I'm gonna try to win by thirty when you were fourteen. Point favorite thirteen and a half. You actually have a better chance of losing than if you said. I don't care how much i went by. I just wanna win. Because what do you do when you're up twenty one. If you're trying to win by thirty you keep doing risky stuff. Whereas that gives a small chance for the other team to come back joan any thoughts and again. I just think there's a couple of games this weekend. Penn state at wisconsin. This one ohio state at minnesota. I don't know how often team it is at teams open up with conference play in week one like like normally you'll see a neutral site game against the non conference opponent but these are. These are now live bullets. This could have an impact on the season moving forward and i. I just think it's a gutsy move by eighteen. That's going to go on the road in conference to open up your season and obviously no preseason in college football game the georgia clemson game like it could be literally a playoff eliminator in week one. Yeah well that's yeah and so we're we're certain it's only going to be the four teams this year right. Only four teams in the playoffs. This year otherwise okay. Real quick were down. The end of it is aj obviously with the big twelve and the potential news of bringing some teams in obviously lose in texas. Oklahoma is bigger than whoever they bring in but given the options right now the big twelve seems to have. What do you think about this rumor if it came true. I think it's besides adding or or those teams sprinkling into the acc or the pac twelve or the big ten conference. Were interested in case scenario real quick. Can you lay out the teams that are rumored to come in. Yep byu houston central florida in cincinnati rumored to be leaving. Byu from the mountain west and independent in football and then the other three schools from the american conference. The rumor is that they could be the teams that joined the big twelve in texas and oklahoma. Why the practical reality that it's easier to just go day by day with the entire team vaccinated The hassle some would say they were purposely made be arduous to not be vaccinated and it was such a hassle. Maybe it tempts people to get vaccinated. That doesn't have to be faced by anyone within the organization advantage. That chance of someone having to sit out. 'cause a kobe missed practice. Games decreases advantage and maybe not as obvious but finally is the dissension or lack thereof. There's no essential. He's not vaccinated. Are you going to give acces none of that. It's it's a non factor and wherever else. It is a factor and a distraction. It's not in tampa bay. Aj i do. You agree with my assessment. Anything that i. I've said all along. I think if if you have the choice to have a vaccinated player or an equal unvaccinated player every coach in the league is going to prefer taking vaccinated player whether they can admit it or not and i think the fact that tom brady is such a big presence in a locker room. I think he's the maybe the one guy in the league that if he says. Hey this is what we need to do to win. Everybody's gonna follow him because that's the one guy who knows how to win. That is a great point. And let's think about. This brady was able to motivate the team to do like in. Wasn't it interesting. I was gonna talk about off season workouts. That when brady said you know i think that the the teams are asking too much of the players for off-season. This is ridiculous. The league or the union has to stand up. Take wait a minute. He's got his own team practice in more and harder and now he's telling everyone else you relax have an ice cream cone and relax. I'll we over here eaten kelp french fries. And he's trying. It's one thing for him to do. What he thinks is right but the idea is trying to get everyone out. I'm surprised he's not standing like fifty pounds or gallons of ice cream to each of the wouldn't that be funny. How much would that be if brady sent got fifty gallons of or one gallon for every team member to the other three teams in his division. How great would that be a good move. And if you know Players they like to get after it a little bit. Post game so yeah. They'll well some other things depending on where you're at so to wrap my point on it. Brady has been using his brand using his influence. When it comes to the effort level these guys guys taken pay cuts. You really think they would receive brady retires. Do they reside or even if it's not brady it. Someone is good as brady but aaron rodgers is on this team. They lose two players. Probably an ab doesn't go to start with and and and and gronk doesn't go. I mean brady is like you know. Apparently he had a big saying the offense posed by last year so he's like half offensive coordinator fool quarterback playing on a busted knee torn whatever it was on his knee the whole season and then he's like the gm by recruiting people in negotiating contracts. Down i gotta tell you something. And now he's making sure everyone gets vaccinated. Tom brady he is the go. Great uniter jones. What do you think in general. I think this has been the perfect offseason for tampa bay. If you think about it you think about what could go wrong and you talk about well you know you want a super bowl. What could go wrong guys could leave for for free agency afterwards. nobody left. Well you know there could be There could be some injuries and there were no injuries. In fact not only. Were there not injuries. Tom brady got a surgery done on need that. He's been needing to get done for a couple of years. Apparently and then cova comes. There could be you know a divide in the locker room between vaccinated and unvaccinated. And that's all squashed. It really has been the perfect off season. As far as potential landmines for defending champion. Going into the year. I agree and it makes it all the more surprising befuddling irrational that. The kansas city chiefs are clearly the super bowl favorites. And i totally understand the right now. Patrick mahomes is better than tom brady. Some might say. He's better than tom brady's ever been. I mean a lot of people would say that serious smart people. I'm not sure that i wouldn't agree if it's regular season but other than mahomes and it's not that much of an upgrade i mean brady. Last year was a top five quarterbacks and mahomes one. Brady's four let's say okay. Now hill is in my opinion. The best receiver in football. But how much better is he. And if you take the receiving corpse or core in general corpses in general. I would say that. Let me ask you. Aj is tampa bay with their full receiving contingent. And let's count tight ends about equal the positions at receiver titan. Then kansas city. Probably it probably not as top heavy. But i would say certainly deeper. And if antonio brown returns to form that's obvious so if if antonio brown returns to pre tampa form like if he's and he was actually pretty good last year but if if he's a shell of what he was or even close to what he was. I think that you've got some. Because mike evans is not a slouch by any stretch. And chris godwin's a great number two. I think yeah. I i think that point. They are close okay. That's that's fair jones. You agree with that pretty close call. Yeah i think if you were to rank top. Five skill position players between kansas city in tampa bay. I think kansas city would have won into and tampa would probably finish out the top five meaning hansie tampa would finish out the top ten pro. I yeah like if just i mean there might be a couple of guys that would slide in But yeah i think majority would go to tampa bay right. So if we're saying receivers are. Generally equal quarterback is a slight edge or a. Let's say an edge for kansas city and then on defense you got one a top five defense against maybe what the twenty fifth best defense and kansas city. Yeah tampa's clearly better defensively. I mean it's not even close. It's a top five versus at below average. That's the safest way to say. Okay how in. The heck is kansas city with a remade offensive line. Now it might be good. But there's big uncertainty there. I i gotta be honest. I know there's the small ch or the chance brady hits the wall and he's just horrible but man. oh man. I don't wanna bat that. This is an example in my opinion of the analytics guys that are really respected. They carry a lot of weight and they love kansas city. Just in general and the batter's here and they think i don't wanna go. I don't wanna be like charles barkley and sound stupid. I don't like analytics. And i really believe this is like a lingering effect because what i can promise. You is the super bowl. Betting pool is a square pool. Which means there's a lot of recreational batters to whatever degree you could think. Kansas city is better than tampa. That's a sharp opinion. Meaning you'd have to look at it from some weird angles. The obvious barney at the bar answer is tampa bay. The defending champions with the greatest quarterback of all time are better than the team. They beat and the fact that even in a square pool. Kansas city is favor.

"He's definitely comfortable around me. Comfortable around dressy then. He's hugging him joking with him. You know all that and those are all good songs for hopefully being able to give we. I wish everybody could catch one hundred balls. You know i really do but again. It's hard to take away from. Darren when he's been so productive and and good for us you know if darren had you know w r next to his name and the depth chart no one would care. You know the fact that it's a tight end. Why don't we get to you. Know that just is what it is. You know if if if henry can show when we put the pads on. And all that which i'm fully confident he will. Yeah absolutely. i could see that happening. Here's some thoughts as my takeaways. I wrap things up from training camp. It really interesting to start seeing how the nfl is dealing with cova protocols with players with media with staff how things are starting to come back to the norm that we're used to and i'm going to tell you it won't be one hundred percent everything that you're used to but as for me we're starting to see it returned to normalcy. We're starting to see that. We can be in the same rooms. As jon gruden derek carr booth came into. The room is the first time i hadn't been on zoom call since march twenty twenty which was pretty amazing being that we're now to look these guys in the eye. We're able to develop that report with them. And that's something that i've said all along is very important for reporters to do when we're trying to report and bring back facts to you about a team is when we can look somebody in the i. It's not just about the answer that they're giving it's about the body language it's about the presence that they have when they're answering it. You can tell if somebody liked or didn't like your question right off the bat so it's always a good thing to be able to see that return for us to be able to speak to all the players and the coaches and to have that accessibility again. It's really important for what we do. And i'm glad that i was able to see that as far as being on the field i tell you a lot of hungry readers out there. A lot of aggressive raiders out there a lot of readers that are listening and paying such close attention to the coaches and all that they have to offer as they get into training camp. You see so many fresh faces as well with the rookies and undrafted free agents. That were brought in this year. And i'm still looking for who is going to spark. I'm keeping my eyes out on jimmy morrissey on the offensive line. I'm keeping my eyes. Out on dylan's donor in the wide way. Receiver department dj. Turner's well. who. Jon gruden mentioned. And i'm looking courses see. What a lot of the defensive rookies that they brought in or going to do malcolm coons when divine diablo comes back. Maybe we can get more of a glimpse of him in the coming weeks. But i really can't wait for everything to play out. Especially as jon gruden mentioned earlier and you could hurt this on the i ten. Podcast if you subscribe to that. He talked about the secondary and in that secondary with tyree. Gillespie coming in with demon our net would nevin lawson with guys like casey hayward with trayvon molin And so many other names. That i could just go on and on and how they're going to shake out who is in what position. What a nickle package looks like. Who's going to be up there when they're playing three deep. It's one of these things that we don't know yet and we're going to have to wait and see how it all plays out in camp and so to me. That's the most exciting thing to be watching right. Now is the secondary and the cornerbacks and safeties. How everything will play out for them. Because i was going to be an area that really needs to improve for the raiders to make a push for the playoffs and the twenty twenty one season.

"That you need and to make this a top tier on organization haven't been there and so does the herbert's. What's the right word. Renaissance does the herbert premier sants. Yeah the encouraging. Signs from herbert last year does that compel the organization to say we really need to take advantage. We've got this talented guy on a rookie contract. We've really got to put our foot on the gas now and maybe it does. And if that's great if that is the case then that's great for staley. Who is as you mentioned a really sharp coach and did a fantastic job at the rams defense but it would also be a bummer for the coaches in the past. Who haven't had that kind of support. I think if. I had to pick a team that i would want to coach this roster. The chargers roster is obviously a roster. That i'd want to coach but also the chargers general because like the they just don't have any fans and so it's great like you can kind of just you know you can experiment. You know little bit if your brand is daily you could probably try some things and like no one's gonna care because no one comes to the games anyway you know so it's great and then like you know if you win that's great. It's a surprise but if not just like if you ever met a chuck. Do you know any chargers fans do either of you. Nonni chargers fans i do. You know chargers fan. I think i know too. I've never met a chargers fan in my life. I know one. But i haven't talked to him since they moved from san diego. I don't know if that changed his view on it. Yeah i mean. I just like i. I just don't think they've really exist. Which is fantastic. You know you're just operating in a bubble which is exactly what. I wanna do fiber coach. We should send connor to la in search of a charter. San see how long it takes based on some of the the home away splits when they were playing in the soccer stadium. It would've taken me a while at home game to find the right right. Yeah i'm over under on twenty four hours brennan. Steely the good pick almost set the nfl record last year for fewest. Second half points allowed Which is like a good sign. I guess for a defensive coordinator The guy that you'd want to take over your defense but also former quarterback too. So i think a lot to like. They're also coached every game now. So high gary standards you did. He's just he's showing up all the time now now where he now like. Gus bradley who just took like four games off last year because rally didn't do that by the way and we'll see what goes bradley doesn't vegas i almost forgot he's in vegas. That's how overwhelming. Jon gruden is support for. This podcast comes.

Las Vegas Raiders Draft Alex Leatherwood
"It's heidi here with sam gordon and we're gonna get into what happened. Here with the raiders at number seventeen in the nfl draft. Sam alex leatherwood offensive linemen from alabama selected. Seventeen for the. Las vegas raiders. What was your initial reaction. Because i know heidi first and foremost great to be here. I had a great time in cleveland. So far it's been a heck of an experience. Glad you're here With said In terms of your question definitely surprised right definitely surprised Not surprising right tackle. i Continued to voice leading up to the draft. I thought right tackle away to go was an obvious. Need in the offense of line of ministry of this team despite its it's consistent struggles. Last year's the offensive line was a pretty reliable unit and lot of turnover tram. Browns gone just going to be some reshuffling move out gave jackson you move out and you knew there was going to have to be some adjustments made and there was a glaring hole the right tackle and they went with right tackle so i they feel the need but just now player. I thought they'd fill that need with and you look at how the board was shaking out. Thought christian dare saw. I was going to be big especially considering what his grade was. And and and where. The raiders were picking. He wasn't now that said just because alex leatherwood is a surprise and we didn't expect him to be there doesn't mean he won't be a good player but it feels like more often than not the raiders. Under jon gruden. Mike mayock have reached for players that they could have gotten later and are maximizing the value of their first round picks damon are net in twenty twenty was a good example. That and even cleveland farrell. Who's a very good player by the way in the top five and twenty nineteen so a couple so with that in mind. I think alex leatherwood at trend. But the jury's still out on how good he's going to be i think he has a lot of potential beauge player was an all american big-time film comes from a big time program and he's gonna get his opportunity to prove mike. Megan jon gruden ryan look. I want to be optimistic about this. But i think there were other guys that were on the board. That had a lot of potential. And the raiders did go out here and they went out on a limb
Bill Barnwell Breaks Down NFL Quarterback Moves
"So bill. We gave you do the math a whole month away from this podcast before our dependency bio chemically kicked back in so i just hope the last four weeks have been everything that you personally needed. Pablo got on many vacations. I turned around my life after six months of just staying watching football now. Bill barn wells weekly column on. Espn plus and he hosts the bill. Barnwell show podcast realistically. I have done something that few human beings have accomplished. I managed to get one pack of moments from nba. top shot. yeah. We share that same addiction. You are far deeper into the game than me. I realized over the weekend. I just want there to be an nfl top shot. Because i feel like that's going to happen right. It has to. i mean. Imagine the things you could do. You could send somebody that colts fake punt from years ago or or if you wanted to try some of your friends. Perhaps you could send the russell wilson interception from the nfl top shot to a certain person with the initials m used to host the show. Yeah just randomly picking in that example in those initials absolutely but bill. We dragged you back here. Speaking of a certain quarterback who threw a certain interception emotionally terrorized ours. Because this is an especially dramatic. Nfl offseason. they're all these big name. Quarterbacks who want out of these relationships that seemed from a distance at least pretty broken and russell wilson and the seahawks. I need to ask you about that. I because i know russ isn't feeling respected by head coach. Pete carroll reporting. I know that carol wants to revoke all of his cooking privileges. We've heard now. Russell wilson like storming out of meetings which is kind of funny to imagine like door very lightly slamming so this particular soap opera. What is all of it. Feel like to you much ado about nothing really. I mean i just i. Just don't buy russell wilson drama. I go back to his contract. Negotiations this is the same player in the same agent. Who wants imply that he would leave football in the middle of these negotiations entering the final year of his deal to try professional baseball. Where russell wilson once for the iraqis and the organization he hit to twenty eight in the low minors before returning to college football. It was not a realistic threat. But if that way does he want the seahawks to give him more helpful on the offensive line which has been sort of the crux of his public complaints. Yeah i do believe that. And i think that the seahawks could benefit from giving him more help. They relied on russell wilson to run his way out of sacks and free pressures from unblock players which has worked for that stretch buddies also taken a ton of hits cuss russell. Wilson plays the way he plays. He is going to take a ton of sacks regardless of how good his protection is the best way honestly pablo to get him. Hitless frequently would be to run the ball more. Which is the exact thing. Russell wilson was trying to get the seahawks do lasso last offseason. So there is something here but i very much doubt that leads to a trade. My favorite thing about this new cycle i think is that russell wilson has relayed via his wrapped. Adam schefter that he is not demanding a trade but if he were there are these four specific teams that he'd like to go to the bears. The cowboys the saints. The raiders does any of that make sense to you know not at all i mean the classic russell wilson tropez that ciara was going to pick teams him in new york in los angeles which this is the opposite that list even the teams he chose are so strange. Maybe you'd argue that. He chose teams with great offensive. Lions triumph of the seahawks. But the trade doesn't really add up the same. Stu have agreed offensive line. But they're like sixty five million dollars over the salary cap. The cowboys have a great line. Whenever everyone's healthy but they also have back prescott. that's not gonna work either the bears. I don't understand. They don't have a great line or any cap space. That one makes no sense to me on either. Level the raiders. Maybe are the most interesting and plausible candidate of the bunch with a great line and some cap space to work with. But when i think about jon. Gruden as raiders coach. He wants quarterbacks to do exactly what jon gruden wants on every single play. I don't think any if it really adds up to meaningful trae dialogue. I don't think there's going to be a conversation between the seahawks and another team about trying to make a trade for russell wilson work but this is twenty twenty one anything is possible
Skip and Shannon: Undisputed
Are Raiders plotting to trade Derek Carr, pursue Deshaun Watson?
"According to a report out of las vegas. The raiders are taking calls on quarterback derek. Carr it's suggested in the report that it could potentially be the beginning of a three team trade to get to shawn watson in a raiders. Uniform shannon vegas. Try and trade for sean top. Five top seven quarterback. I think you should be in the running for watson. Skip there something that's been on my mind and the bother me last week. I called you the night before and told you that has some information about about jon. L. came on the show and they're about six thirty top of the show. I said to shawn watson my sources tell me shawn watson has ashby the texans for trade and this is not. This is just being broke but this could ask a couple of weeks ago now. Adam schefter reported twenty minutes out to me that show watson to ask for trade basically saying that he's breaking the news which at and i said what transpired that he wants to go to the jets. He have a fondness for robert solid. Everybody keeps saying jason this and that so what they're trying to do. They're trying to add egg pool pork to a hamburger. That i've already made is still a hamburger. Youth and economists tried to add to the story back to this absolutely skilled. I don't this report came from chris. Simms yes okay. What transpired skill. And you said this yesterday. When he was when he was talking to the press conference the player he said the player of the the new england syria away to new caserio said the player yes he must have realized how it sounded his head because he started saying shaw desha. It's too late. You everything off his thing and our to our for everything to my agent day google level but anyway skill yes they should skip. I just got always got the impression. That jon gruden wasn't as far the derek carr. I don't know what it is. I could be totally wrong but it. Just something about yeah. He's good but i don't really know if he can take me to where i need to go. I am making ten million dollars. The i do have one hundred dollar contract. And we haven't been to the play. So i'm as you can be viewed as a failure skill for thirty million dollars ain't got nothing to show for it. And there's a lot of have to do with his defense. They print his lands. Twenty fourth and thirtieth last three years are good bradley the off season he so you look at it. They're waller. it's a top three tight end. They got josh jacobs. Who made the pro bowl again. If i'm not mistaken hillary rodham. He nice receiving corps offensive. Line is solid. Yeah john was. It will be a major player for them. And in this offense again. It's the west coast system skip. It'd be foolish not to try

Blame Jon Gruden for the Raiders’ loss to the Dolphins... but do it for the right reason
"Raiders lost to miami. Las vegas raiders are now seven and eight. They missed the playoffs again. This year and the blame has got to go on. Jon gruden their head. Coach I i like jon gruden. I think there have been moments where he's done a good job preparing his team to play. I thought the highlight of the year for las vegas. Raiders was beating the kansas city chiefs. They looked very well prepared. That a great game plan But again this loss to miami coach. The recent failures by the raiders has to go on. Jon gruden you're gonna blame jon gruden for the loss. Make sure you do it for the right reason. So all the attention after this game has gone onto john. Gruden's late dame decision making against miami. Where the raiders had the ball first and goal on the eight yard line with a minute and fifty five seconds left. And the raiders chose to not score a touchdown they had. I mean they first of all they had the running back. Josh jacobs literally taking the other one yard line that he slid down to avoid scoring and did not want a touchdown would have given them a six point lead because they had they were down gas. Were down twenty four twenty five so they didn't want to have a six point lead. They wanted to take as much time off the clock as possible then on third and goal derek carr literally kneeled to continue to run the clock down and they kicked field goal. Giving them a twenty five to twenty three lead with nineteen seconds. Left in the game and people are critical. The strategy like you should have done other stuff. You should've taken the touchdown you should've done. Whatever coulda woulda should say whatever you want to say. I don't think this is the reason to criticize john. Gruden every once in a while you have a strategy. That is a good strategy. That simply doesn't work. I play video. What is it not a tabletop. Game like a board game called settlers of catan a giant nerd and my family. We all play during christmas. And i had a great strategy of putting my game pieces on the the number eight. Meaning that if you have to you have a high percentage chance of rolling in eight like you would think yeah. It's literally six and eight or two of the highest six eight and seven like the highest possible. Things could roll when you're rolling. Two dice and eighths just never got role but i waited and waited my whole strategy revolves around rolling eight with these two dice. And it didn't happen. And i don't know this the probability or whatever. I just know that on paper. That's a good strategy. Like eight gets rolled all the time and this game. It was an anomaly. It didn't happen and that happens sometimes every once in a while you good strategy that for one reason or another. There's an anomaly. And it doesn't work out
First Things First
Raiders lose QB Carr, fall in overtime to Chargers, Herbert
"And chargers from last night chargers rookie justin herbert having himself a seasoning looked. Great again is quarterback sneak in overtime helped. The chargers win the raiders however their woes continued they lost derek carr early on replaced by marcus. Mariota was nice to see him in there. You look good look. Good enough raiders. Lose again it's four of five now in the loss column for them with their playoff hopes. All but dead coach. Genie is joining the conversation this morning. Good coach good morning but nick. I want to start with you. This raiders started six and three. They your chiefs. They were rolling what happened. How did this team fall apart. One second just very quickly. I'm happy for marcus. mariota chance. I thought he played well. I in came. Maybe gets an opportunity to compete for a starting quarterback job. It's always conducted himself well in this league and obviously didn't work out in tennessee. So i'm happy for him. Now to the raiders. Nobody likes somebody to say. I told you so. But i told you so. Everyone's like oh nick right and such a hater oh after they lost to the chiefs game on dvd. And everyone. everyone's congratulating the raiders though. They're dangerous they're scary. Oh they've given the chiefs try. They beat them once second done. And what i tell you. They're going to be the best team to miss. The i might be wrong about that. Not even sure. They're better than the vikings so they're going to be one of the best teams to miss the playoffs coach. They have a fancy new stadium in vegas. They haven't read. What fans there next year when fanshawe do you think they'll have one banner for beating the chiefs or two banners for beating the chiefs and almost beating the chiefs a second time as those are the two best moments of the gruden era. I'm not sure because this team has been terrible. Since they played the chiefs the second time some would say the chiefs still their soul. I don't know. I wouldn't go that far but i know their defense stinks their quarterback. Okay and jon. Gruden falls apart in the second half a season. These are things i know. And some of sought coming other people thought. Irina haters happened to the raiders. And do i take joy in the raiders failures. Yeah i do actually quite a bit. Where's that victory now. how about that. Where's your victory lap. Now remember that moment of arrowhead that your
NFL Insider Dan Graziano Breaks Down Week 11
"Dan graziano it is eleven fifty eight. Pm eastern so. Thank you very much man for staying up late behind. After that game. I go right to sleep. That was exciting. Dan graziano is an espn nfl insider. And he will get to sleep soon. We promise fired for game like that. Yeah me too i mean. Let's get into this right off the top here the chiefs. Just beat the raiders. Thirty five to thirty one. They beat the team who is beating kansas city. This season dan back in week. Five about a million years ago. So were you watching for in this rematch tonight. Well to see if they can do it again right. I mean that sounds simple. But like i didn't think their victory over kansas city was a fluke because it seemed like they had kind of a formula that they went out and they stuck to. They didn't win but a certainly could have. And i think that's that's significant because they know that's the team that is in their way in their division. Obviously they're on top of the conference in the league as super bowl champion. So you see the raiders. Draft a running back in the first round last year. That can help them. Control the clock and keep mahomes on the sideline like they did in the first game. They played they draft the speedy wide receiver this year in the first round. That can stress their quarterbacks. I mean they're thinking about the chiefs all the time. They're certainly not on that level at this point as the records indicate but they've constructed a team that can play in a way that threatens the chiefs and it might be able to beat them. So they're not as different as you might inclined to think yet and i have to admit like the difference between pat mahomes and derek carr felt smaller than i ever realized it would tonight. What did you see from these two quarterbacks total commanded of the offense which has not always been him. And certainly since gruden's been there. We've seen a lot more ups and downs. Where he looked like he was a little bit. Lost a little bit uncertain But this is years three with gruden and when gruden got there he talked about competent car up and making sure that car believed he was the guy. So that when you know. When ben came together around him he would be the guy that was in total control of things. And and it seems to be coming to fruition. What he's got. He's got people to throw to nelson agholor like out of nowhere as having a career renaissance in las vegas. He's got two very running back. Got a great offensive line. And i think you know he's playing with a lot of confidence as you would expect him to give all those things now. I think he's taken a big job this year in terms of where. He ranks in terms of the quarterbacks. We feel confident about what we watched the did feel like gruden kinda new like no. It's sunday night football. Let's give the people something that they'll enjoy. What did you most enjoy from. Hearing those play called why. I our love to know what the purple walrus was and i mean i think there are some vegas ones like he dropped. The sammy davis in there at one point and then and then it sounded like they've been paying very close attention to the nba off-season because there are a number of james harden and those who among nfl coaches knows how to produce primetime football. Better than jon gruden right. I mean he did it for for a decade or so for us in terms of operating in that sphere. So maybe i don't know maybe maybe he feels like a showman or maybe they're just having a lot of fun in their in their offensive meetings. They sound like all. The time does not all watching every week but was it so as showmanship goes that lasts. Drive man lake travis. Kelsey had some great moments in this game but that catch at the end mahomes calling him the best tight end in the league game. What did you see from travis kelsey tonight yeah domination. This is this. is you talk about reliability. I mean the the quarterback knows he's going to be where he's supposed to be. He knows he's almost certainly going to be open. He know he's going to catch the ball like it's total complete confidence in a guy in a key spot third down. A guy had throw to the end zone in the final minute. I mean he is the best tight end in the league. I don't think it's even close especially when you know. George kittle is on the shelf right now in the second best tight end. The league is probably the guy that was on hiller sidelines tonight. So there's there's no doubt that he in homes are in sync in a way that very few combinations like that are

I am in an RV at an RV park in Las Vegas and barring my mom and dad's RV while I'm here covering the now Las Vegas Raiders Paul Gutierrez not only covers the raiders for ESPN. He's written a book about Raiders Fandom and followed the team Vegas kind of living like. A little bit. Paul I of about fifty fall of questions about what life in that our views like. But it does feel like the ability to pick up and react to sudden schedule changes is especially important to covering the raiders these days starting with what's happening right now, we are talking on Thursday evening ahead of this highly anticipated raiders game, and there is a Kovic scenario that you've been covering in depth so. What do we know about the game schedule? What do we know about who's playing or who is not playing? Basically, what has happened is is right tackle. Trent Brown tested positive for covert. Now as part of the protocols here anybody who's deemed a high risk contact with him has to self isolate for at least five days plus one which would be the. Last point of contact, which was practice on Monday they are all there. They were all there together It's the raiders entire starting offensive line, plus let's just throw safety Jonathan Abram in there as well. So man, all of those guys were just placed on the covid nineteen list again doesn't mean any of them tested positive. I was actually told that none of them. But as part of the protocols they have to selfies late for five days. Another other source told me that they've been doing virtual preparation. In case they can indeed get cleared play against the buccaneers in the meanwhile, it was supposed to be a big Sunday night football game. Yes. The League wanted to make sure that that game actually happens. So they bumped the raiders out of their move Seattle in Arizona into that spot. So a game will happen well, guess what if you guys I just mentioned you consistently Test negative on their Cova test the rest of the week and then again Sunday. Morning will then they'll be cleared to play. But at what time? Sunday morning Oh. Yeah. kickoffs at one o'clock. So the backstory all that as well. I gotTA catch my breath here when I started figure this out understandably. Yeah. They on their fifty three man roster. They currently have five backup offensive lineman. That's WHO's been trodden. They've been trying out there in practice every day. That's who Derek Carr has been had protecting him. That's who Josh Jacobs has been trying to run holes through those five guys plus they also have two guys on the practice squad that they could suit up if need be. So as we sit here right now on on Thursday late afternoon the raiders starting offensive line is anchored by Andre James and if you need to know who that is I got a couple of media guides for you can look about. Paul Creek me. If I'm wrong here, but I believe this is the very first case of an entire position group being taken down by cove like I know that we've had players here and there. You put on this list but in terms of the magnitude of what the raiders are facing with the offensive line, this feels extreme. Yeah. An and it's part of the protocol. Really. Because only one guy really has tested positive but it's out of the abundance of caution which we've heard a lot of since since the pandemic hit right you've got to self isolate you gotta make sure you don't test positive or show any symptoms, and even if you don't show any symptoms, still self isolate because you could be symptomatic. It's just very bizarre. It's a strange world we're living in Derek Carr said this week that you know he's been with the team for seven years seen a lot of weird things. He's this is the weirdest thing he's ever seen and it's worth noting like weird is by no means foreign to this organization even within this context I mean, I still need help Paul disentangling what exactly happened for instance with Jon Gruden their head coach who took an approach to corona virus with the team earlier this year that had me confused the media confused, and then ultimately Jon Gruden himself pretty angry at everybody. Yeah. So beginning at Camp, we show up in a media member. We have to test every day just to get in I have fifty two on my belt. All negative so far, which is a good thing Jon gruden passes out t shirts to the media with there waiting for us as we walk in the media room that say crush the virus because I was going to be his mantra he took issue with the NFL network reporting that he faked having the virus but yet kind of just went away then on the home opener on. Monday night football when he later would get fine for not wearing his mask properly, he brings it up himself and says that he never faked the virus it as a matter of fact, he did have it. So he talked about just how it was not fun. It made him feel bad and this is all before training camp. When he said he he went through this and beat it in in that. He has the utmost respect for it and he still wants to crush it in beat it into the ground like it was some sort of opponent.

"Jon Gruden. Was one of a handful of head coaches to be slapped with a $100,000 fine for not consistently wearing his face mask during week too. And the Raiders themselves were fined $250,000 for Gruden's indiscretion. Ah, now this from the NFL network, Tom Pal Acero is reporting that several days ago. The team was also under investigation for quote. On authorized locker room access. This season. Only 40. Employees in each organization are allowed in the locker room and it unauthorized radar employee allegedly entered the locker room following the team's win. Against the Saints on Monday night.

"Up weak, too. Showcasing Las Vegas league was coming down hard on those Who haven't been following protocol. After the game, Gruden telling reporters, quote I'm doing my best. I've had the virus. I'm doing my best. I'm very sensitive about it. I'm calling plays.
