"They did in May. Stat of the day. That of the day here comes that was stat of the day. And this isn't a team that's fully assembled when you think about it. With 34 games to go, the Dodgers can go 500 for the rest of the season. They would still set a franchise record for wins with 107. Yes, peaking too soon. Oh, oh. Okay. Okay. See what you did there. All right, we'll get some phone calls here. John Gruden, we've reached out to Jon Gruden numerous times since he was fired by the Raiders, but he appeared at a Little Rock touchdown club meeting. And somebody's always got a camera there and John was talking about what happened when he got fired by the Raiders. I'm not going to say anything, but honest things here. I'm ashamed about what has come about in these emails. And I'll make no excuses for it. It's shameful. But I am a good person. I believe that. I go to church. I've been married for 31 years. I got three great boys. I still love football. I've made some mistakes. But I don't think anybody in here hasn't. And I just asked for forgiveness, and hopefully I get another shot. All right. He might be too famous, give him another shot. I don't know what going to church and being married has anything to do with what kind of coach you are. But he did make mistakes and does he get another chance? Yes. He was a Little Rock, probably what we call the Bible belt, he's trying to ingratiate himself with the people there. I go to church. I married, I have great kids. That sounds like, you know, you're trying to. You're trying to curry favor from the hometown crowd. Yes. Shouldn't he have said sorry? I guess let's see what happens after the lawsuit, because he's suing the National Football League. And we have invited him on, but the last correspondence was he's unavailable. I mean, what was the wording he used there? He said, I'm embarrassed and shamed. And a shame, nice. Of what transpired with those emails or he said some kind of things like that. Play it again, Mark. I'm not going to say anything, but honest things here. I'm ashamed about what has come about in these emails. And I'll make no excuses for it. It's shameful. But I am a good person. I believe that. And he said, I think it was light flirting of maybe becoming Arkansas new head coach. Maybe he's trying to zero in on the SEC. Try to coach there. Maybe you get a second tier team in the SEC? Yes, Todd. Now turning on the audience and telling them that everyone has made a mistake. There are different levels of mistake. So I found that kind of interesting too. Look it's all in together. We've all made mistakes. I hate when somebody says, you know, everybody makes mistakes and nobody's we understand that. Who amongst you has not sinned? That was a big butt. Yeah. Yeah, Pauly. The tough part for Gruden, you know, objectively is he's got three strikes against him. He's got off field issues that are still pending. On the field, he's a 500 coach. He has a Super Bowl win, but he's a 500 coach. One 17 to one 12. You know, and he didn't really get much better with the Raiders. And then he's almost too famous in two coverable. It's like, if you want, if you're an owner who wanted to bring in a coach, you don't want baggage as you enter. But can he get to the point that Rick Pitino did, where we thought, you know, Pitino went to Greece to coach, but then came back, now he said iona, can John Gruden get to the point and what Jon Gruden's ego allow him to coach, let's say, Bowling Green. Youngstown state. That's a good comparison. Rick Pitino seems to have more high end seasons though when he coached. Well, Pacino is a better coach. You know, watch more successful. Yes. Patino has a track record where and plus we're watching what's happening with the Raiders that a lot of these first round draft picks Gruden reportedly said no to Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, first on draft picks with the Raiders or washing out players that were drafted with Mike mayock and Jon Gruden. Jon Gruden won a Super Bowl. Jon Gruden has a look. If John Gruden doesn't coach the Raiders, he would not have this popularity because he was Chucky, and then all of a sudden, he took that persona and became an analyst at the mothership, but I think John was there what 8 or 9 years. I think John's disappointed that ESPN didn't have his back when he went through all of these things. Let's see how this all plays out with the NFL. I think that that's interesting. Does he win it? Then people will say, well, you want a Super Bowl with Tony dungy's roster. Which is true, but John did get John's roster with the Raiders that got to the Super Bowl that lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You got to give John credit for that. But John is a character, very charismatic. Can he get a second chance? The apple. It's very apples and oranges, but John Gruden or an urban Meyer. Who's coaching at any level first? I'm not trying to utilize it. But they have different types of baggage. Like Gruden's is specific. There's emails that are stamped and we can read them. Click on them. There's a lot of stories about urban Meyer at many places, but there's less facts. There's less presentable evidence or whatever you want to call it. Yeah, you had the moment in the bar in Columbus and in that that's because there were videos there. But we didn't see issues in Jacksonville. We heard about issues in Jacksonville. It was his strange hire to begin with, and even getting a job at Fox was a strange hire. Because it felt like all of that credibility that he had, he left that in Jacksonville. I don't know that you tune in and you go, I want to listen to him. I know what he did. And this goes back to urban is still popular probably in most parts of Florida or Gainesville and certainly popular in Columbus. So you have two markets that probably still appreciate urban Meyer. But after that, the rest of the country doesn't. So when Fox brought him back, I thought, that's an interesting choice to bring him back. But as far as getting another chance, I don't think he gets another chance as a head coach. I think John Gruden will get another chance for some reason.

Okay, so the LA Dodgers this year are first team to 90 wins. 90 and 38. They're dealing with like walker Bueller out, Trevor Bauer out, may comes back, Clayton Kershaw has been out. Yeah. They have outscored their opponents this year by 287 runs. That's almost a hundred more than the Yankees. And that's getting historic. At this point in the season, the Dodgers have played a 138 games. They've outscored their opponents by 287 runs. The last time that happened, that 78 years ago, 1944 cardinals actually, the Dodgers in 2002, the only four teams in history that have been this good run differential wise in history are the 39 Yankees, the 27 Yankees, the 44 cardinals and 36 Yankees. This is kind of galactic what they're doing. The only team in the past generation that's close to what the Dodgers are doing this year are the Yankees of 1998 who blew through everybody. Few of those names in there. And when it comes to the NFL Draft, everybody likes to think that they're an expert. Every year. Oh, you know, I'm hearing, you know, that guy is going to be a star. Right? Remember Josh Rosen 2018, UCLA quarterback. Look like he was the pro ready prospect. He was replaced after just one year in Arizona with Kyler Murray. He was cut by the Cleveland Browns yesterday. Last year, the Raiders selected Alabama tackle Alex leatherwood. All right, a tackle, Alabama. Can't miss. He was drafted at 17 in the first round. There were people at the time who said, oh, that's a reach. Still a highly rated prospect. He was cut yesterday. Making that transition from college to the pros has never been easy. And it's tough to really handicap that, where you go, he can't miss, or how did I make it? How did that guy become a star? And the NFL is littered with those stories. But the reality is nobody has any idea how these players careers will shape. And yesterday cut down day, a perfect reminder of exactly what we don't know. And I mentioned some of these players, Kellen mond, was drafted 66th overall last year. One spot higher than Davis mills, and at the time, if you go back, oh, handwriting's on the wall for Kirk Cousins. Kellen mond, you know, he's got first round talent. I went, okay. Alex leatherwood knows Jon Gruden, Mike mayock. Josh Rosen was tenth overall by the Cardinals in 2018. Now in fairness to Rosen. And I thought that he was pro ready too. He played for an Arizona team that had a horrible offensive line, and he didn't play well. And then all of a sudden you got cliff Kingsbury, you got the number one pick and he's going to take his guy and Kyler Murray. And I thought, okay, Rosen may be a chance to latch on to somebody else. But you can go back through the draft through history here. I mean, Matt leiner, quarterback, one of the greatest teams of all time. He washed out? That was another one of those. He can last ten years. He could be one of those guys that plays for ten years, whether he starts or he's a backup. OJ Howard. If you said, all right, let me kind of choose aloud a tight end. Here's an Alabama Titan. 19th overall pick 2017 by Tampa Bay. Gone. Laquan treadwell selected 23rd overall Vikings, 2016. Gonzo. So you have Jared Davis. Back in 2016, Lions took him 21st overall. Gone. You could go down the list and you go, because if you follow college football, you're aware of these names. And then the dolphins kept a quarterback yesterday. And if you love college football, and if you watch random college football teams, then you know who we does anybody know who the dolphins kept at quarterback. Pauly? I didn't see their final roster. Well, I'm just saying. One double a? No. Hint. Give me a hint. Did they bring back pat white from West Virginia? I loved him. No, I loved that way too. A bunch of mountaineers cut yesterday though. With like ten or 15 of these. All right, so the dolphins quarterback. And it was a big deal to me because I remember watching one full game. Because I thought he had a lot of talent. Jon Gruden Resigns as Raiders Coach Over Decade-Old Offensive Emails
"John Gruden has always been kind of a wild child in the NFL always been a little bit of a loose cannon, if you will. And I believe he was also he was also the coach of the Oakland Raiders in like the 90s. And then he went to the Buccaneers and led them to the Super Bowl very complicated. But then he rejoined the Raiders in 2018 after he was an analyst on Monday Night Football. Do you remember those things he used to sit down with the quarterbacks? And it was like Gruden's corner. I've never been a big fan of Jon Gruden. I'll be very honest. One in 2002, that's right, my memory's not too bad. I'm not going to be an apologist for Jon Gruden. Okay? I'm sure he lives a complicated life like most people in the NFL. But this recent saga involving in his resignation slash termination is disgusting. And the national Football Association is in many different ways. In enterprise that is built on a House of Cards. The entire structure of how many of the teams are filed as nonprofits on how almost every stadium is built thanks to taxpayer dollars. There's a lot of corruption that exists in the national football, the National Football League. And so it came out a couple days ago that John Gruden is going to be fired, or it has to speak out for his racist and homophobic emails over ten years ago. And I shrugged my shoulders and I actually didn't know where this one was going to go. Because John Gruden signed a ten year 100 million dollar deal with the Oakland Raiders. And now so he technically resigned whatever he says, I have resigned as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be distraction. Thank you to all the players coaches and staff and fan fans of raider nation. I'm sorry I never meant to hurt anyone, John Gruden. And so it was revealed in some of these emails. And based from what I've said, seen should have said something's probably not no, was he joking around in private in a context that none of us can understand? Yes. He incited Joe Biden, insulted Joe Biden I can't even say what he called Joe Biden on air. It's kind of hilarious. Called Roger Goodell, a certain name. I'm no fan of Roger Goodell. So if this whole thing is like a Roger Goodell, apology tour, but here's what really matters. Here's the question. In the National Football League, do they ever allow people to do bad things and continue to participate? Like murder. How about rate Ray Lewis and his legacy of the unsolved double murder? Or how about you remember this one? You remember ray rice, who literally punched his fiance in an elevator? It was an elevator, right? Which gained total notoriety following the indictment he was released by the ravens and suspended, and now rice would be reinstated after he successfully appealed the league's decision. And this whole thing with John Gruden is this question of should you be judged by things you have said in private ten years ago to destroy your current

"Not there yet. But i it's just it's looking pretty good for both sides especially herber right now. I think the missing element on the rams is. They don't have bet same defensive coordinator they had last year and not that the the new one is any bad. It's just that he obviously what he's doing. The chargers a pretty special. Yep yep. you're talking about brandon staley now grand. It's the rams as the d. coordinator going the chargers unique guys talking to because i'm fascinated by him and tiny shane about him and he's just he's persistent and all the details which course. That's what we always embraced right all the little details and you know making sure everything's covered that you have an answer for everything and and he just lets guys coach and shane and i know that sounds silly. But so many other places look shoulder and question what you're doing. Why you're doing it right and mash shane. Men did that with him and It's refreshing for him to be in a situation where you can go. Because he's he's very capable is an excellent football coach right. So staley's air. With the chargers raheem morris longtime assistant coach. Barry good coach. He is a new d. See what the rams so you know. There's some there's gotta be like you said there's gotta be a change in an adjustment period. Some i don't. I don't think you can just bounce from one coordinated with new coordinator in everything operates the same. I don't think so so lovey was coordinated for me. Love is me on the chicago when i replaced him with. Larry maher may who is a very much head coach and longtime coordinator league and just that outstanding coach and he came in and hard to change was very very hard because they were so attached to love. And i think it's the same thing In la know. I i really do. I think it's the same thing that the attachment and he he did things differently. That would put his job under threat but vic as he wrote gruden is not on the hot seat yet because of that ten year contract he signed back in two thousand eighteen so with all that in mind do you think gruden's feeling real pressure to put up someone's this season or does he feel like he's still got time to build this team into a contender recuse. Time is not as you're getting fired anytime soon. I could see at some point him just like you know what it's not worth i'm miserable. I'm putting all his energy into it. I'm not having fun. I think both teams run the ball. I think the clock moves and there's weather in the forecast up there in minnesota. We're starting to see that. We can be in the same rooms. As jon gruden derek carr booth came into. The room is the first time i hadn't been on zoom call since march twenty twenty which was pretty amazing being that we're now to look these guys in the eye. We're able to develop that report with them. And that's something that i've said all along is very important for reporters to do when we're trying to report and bring back facts to you about a team is when we can look somebody in the i. It's not just about the answer that they're giving it's about the body language it's about the presence that they have when they're answering it. You can tell if somebody liked or didn't like your question right off the bat so it's always a good thing to be able to see that return for us to be able to speak to all the players and the coaches and to have that accessibility again. So far it's been a heck of an experience. Glad you're here With said In terms of your question definitely surprised right definitely surprised Not surprising right tackle. i Continued to voice leading up to the draft. I thought right tackle away to go was an obvious. Need in the offense of line of ministry of this team despite its it's consistent struggles. Last year's the offensive line was a pretty reliable unit and lot of turnover tram. Browns gone just going to be some reshuffling move out gave jackson you move out and you knew there was going to have to be some adjustments made and there was a glaring hole the right tackle and they went with right tackle so i they feel the need but just now player. I thought they'd fill that need with and you look at how the board was shaking out. Thought christian dare saw. I was going to be big especially considering what his grade was. And and and where. The raiders were picking. He wasn't now that said just because alex leatherwood is a surprise and we didn't expect him to be there doesn't mean he won't be a good player but it feels like more often than not the raiders. Who wants imply that he would leave football in the middle of these negotiations entering the final year of his deal to try professional baseball. The raiders does any of that make sense to you know not at all i mean the classic russell wilson tropez that ciara was going to pick teams him in new york in los angeles which this is the opposite that list even the teams he chose are so strange. Maybe you'd argue that. He chose teams with great offensive. Lions triumph of the seahawks. But the trade doesn't really add up the same. Stu have agreed offensive line. But they're like sixty five million dollars over the salary cap. The cowboys have a great line. Whenever everyone's healthy but they also have back prescott. that's not gonna work either the bears. I don't understand. They don't have a great line or any cap space. That one makes no sense to me on either. Level the raiders. Maybe are the most interesting and plausible candidate of the bunch with a great line and some cap space to work with. But when i think about jon. Gruden as raiders coach. He wants quarterbacks to do exactly what jon gruden wants on every single play. I don't think any if it really adds up to meaningful trae dialogue. "Raiders lost to miami. Las vegas raiders are now seven and eight. They missed the playoffs again. This year and the blame has got to go on. Jon gruden their head. Coach I i like jon gruden. I think there have been moments where he's done a good job preparing his team to play. I thought the highlight of the year for las vegas. Raiders was beating the kansas city chiefs. They looked very well prepared. That a great game plan But again this loss to miami coach. The recent failures by the raiders has to go on. Jon gruden you're gonna blame jon gruden for the loss. Make sure you do it for the right reason. So all the attention after this game has gone onto john. Gruden's late dame decision making against miami. Where the raiders had the ball first and goal on the eight yard line with a minute and fifty five seconds left. And the raiders chose to not score a touchdown they had. I mean they first of all they had the running back. Josh jacobs literally taking the other one yard line that he slid down to avoid scoring and did not want a touchdown would have given them a six point lead because they had they were down gas. Were down twenty four twenty five so they didn't want to have a six point lead. They wanted to take as much time off the clock as possible then on third and goal derek carr literally kneeled to continue to run the clock down and they kicked field goal. Giving them a twenty five to twenty three lead with nineteen seconds. Left in the game and people are critical. The strategy like you should have done other stuff. You should've taken the touchdown you should've done. Whatever coulda woulda should say whatever you want to say. I don't think this is the reason to criticize john. Gruden every once in a while you have a strategy. That is a good strategy. That simply doesn't work. I play video. What is it not a tabletop. Meaning that if you have to you have a high percentage chance of rolling in eight like you would think yeah. Two dice and eighths just never got role but i waited and waited my whole strategy revolves around rolling eight with these two dice. And it didn't happen. They played they draft the speedy wide receiver this year in the first round. That can stress their quarterbacks. I mean they're thinking about the chiefs all the time. They're certainly not on that level at this point as the records indicate but they've constructed a team that can play in a way that threatens the chiefs and it might be able to beat them. So they're not as different as you might inclined to think yet and i have to admit like the difference between pat mahomes and derek carr felt smaller than i ever realized it would tonight. What did you see from these two quarterbacks total commanded of the offense which has not always been him. And certainly since gruden's been there. We've seen a lot more ups and downs. Where he looked like he was a little bit. Lost a little bit uncertain But this is years three with gruden and when gruden got there he talked about competent car up and making sure that car believed he was the guy. So that when you know. When ben came together around him he would be the guy that was in total control of things. And and it seems to be coming to fruition. What he's got. He's got people to throw to nelson agholor like out of nowhere as having a career renaissance in las vegas. He's got two very running back. Got a great offensive line. And i think you know he's playing with a lot of confidence as you would expect him to give all those things now. I think he's taken a big job this year in terms of where.
