"Just keeps his fight. On their feet. And I. think that's where Jones, GonNa win. But does it feel like Jon? Fitch hasn't fought in five years but he had like a draw with Roy. McDonald. Right. Like last year around this time I believe. It was maybe know maybe longer maybe a year and a half he's been out for a little while he's another forty two year old guy like bell tower kind of billing the. Forty two year old guys on the cards this weekend but John By. Five five win streak though and the Roy McDonald fighter was April twenty. Nineteen So. Low Key Jon Fitch hasn't lost in. OR EARS against. The GRACIE's so I lost like twenty. Five years. That's a trick question. You know what I mean you ask any MMA fan. You know the average guy whatever the last time John Fitch last a fight. When he fifteen who knew that? But it's He, lost his fight against the highest in twenty fourteen. NASA dirties fuck in winter right there. Was a harness is actually fighting on I think John this promotion I- Brazil a Tara enemy. Yeah. Gone Yeah I. Think I posted. Probably. Jack Ju-. Stat of his mind and he'll probably shrank. Five minutes. Bell Tim Brasil. Juice. Nobody. Going to be testing anybody out there. But. The South. Fitch against the grace it's probably GONNA be an entertaining fighter definite grappling match I. Don't see this to be a fuck and breaking clinic whatsoever but I got a favorite Jon Fitch man I mean he's got so much experience You know you go to a drug Roy the red king. And a hard account out that can take Roy McDonald toward like that, he's one of my favorite when it's toughest guy out there and John Fitch had been on the shelf for year and a half but he comes in here and probably gets a a real slick nice submission win against Gracey so. John Fitch all the way for sure. That would be so amazing. A Jon Fitch can can throw in a bad s a mission win against the Gracie. I think. I think he's going to be a something basic like a rear naked choke. The. Taken back. Choke. He'll hook or number plot. Yes out there it's GonNa be a good card man I can't wait. I, definitely want to watch this fight It's GonNa be a good fight man and then I'm to let the. Against Patching Mix I'm friends with both these guys I've known patching mix for fucking ever. Each Zakia Jackson's I've I've talked to him when I was. Interviewing, a couple of fighters their jackson-lee couldn't he was their training. And You know we talked a little bit. You know it's I don't know man I. I'm just I'm tournament these guys as well because I'm a fan of connection that. I mean if nobody knows who kwan is. Go Look at King of the cage. He's one on what is it four Belton for different? Weight causes. Some crazy like that. He's been he was undefeated until he lost his debut have been delatour. Not Nike Losing Bell Tower. Lost Ultra to twenty but it wasn't his debut fight for was against the three zero pit bull. Guys now joke, two pit bulls, tough motherfucker bottomline, Nude Roberto I. Know It's hard for you to pick but who you got. Patchy Mix By decision. Just because. fucking tough guide to. Just tough dude man I'm GonNa Greece hard to agree with you on that one. Yeah, I'm I'm going with mix of. Yeah he's a tough guy to get out of their Wanda proven champion King of the cage for years different way classes. So I think it took a little time for him to get his weight right for this fight. Patrick mix has been coming for a long time. I think he was supposed to fight a band house for the belt or a Sergio, but this is the fight that he wanted. 'cause you know was the best dude you know what I mean, and this is very, very good match making one of the better fights that. Balladur's had in a while in my opinion. Because Patrick Mix is coming to kill and it's going to be very impressive. He's able to get one after that out of there especially if it's been like his previous performances, I, route finishes and just showing how big but I gotta go. I'M GONNA go on to letter I'm GonNa, one decision in toughest fight that Patrick mixers ever had and one gets a split or so maybe there's a rematch because I think wants hungry patrick mix is definitely going to bring it and I'm going to go. On the other side of Y'all I, Di Blah Patrick mix style. He's fucking a killer needs amazing. Fighter will see that play out on Saturday 'cause one will bring out in. Archer Letta wins it though either you D or split it's better met night though. Crazy about PECI mix pro he. Didn't his name. Actually you know love mix. No He's undefeated in his amateur career and he's undefeated in his pro career. Never seen a loss ever. And that that's really highly of this guy. You know he's he's thirteen and has a pro pro. I just have. I'm just going to go with patchy man. Just because I know more about Peci than I do about on even though. You. Know if you don't follow keynote occasion, you really are not an Emma Mason. Wanda. You. Billions of viewers. Wants got shot though and I think this fight is going to like I said one of the better fights that you'll see in ballot or Don't they get land early Patrick mix as track record of destroying guys quickly. Guy Finish let alone knockout or submission. But if Patrick makes does that the guy comes definitely a superstar and fucking up to deal with in ballots are probably the biggest star they have going forward. If he does get it finished overarching opinions. I just want catching mixed to. To win this fight. At fourteen. And that and he gets the belt. To The wind gusts does fighter Sergio pets too. So that's another good fight in the future as well. Exactly. because. In this sport, not to be undefeated like Blake, like patchy in amateur and pro career that is like unheard of. Like you rarely see that type of record rare. Bro,.

"It also has the biggest draws it also has the biggest egos. And sometimes when you mix all that together, you're going to have some problems and so Conor plays by a different set of rules. Connor is the kind of guy who can demand title shots, and they're gonna listen to him because he is a draw because he makes so much money because he is so, so popular, you know what I mean. And so. Listen, if you want to move back to the meritocracy, that's all well, and good. But the UFC's in a position right now where they have to make a lot of money. So that's why they leaned towards Connor. And the problem is you have already set the precedent with Connor you let him cut the line at one fifty five. You let him get the rematch against Nate Diaz. When it did it make sense. And he was the one forty five pound champion. You're giving him all these update. You let him play Habib when, when you could make a case that someone else was more deserving like Tony Ferguson. And so how how'd you backtrack from that? You can't. But I do feel by the way, I do feel like we're starting to get back on track here, dust Emporia is getting the shot, twenty five dollars to Rony. I feel like things are actually starting to figure themselves out and that's good. I like it better. When the most deserving person gets a title shot. That's what I like. I don't like it when it's the biggest draw when is it? No. I like it old days. Number one, contender gets a title shot. Let's see. Who's next you always know you look at the rankings. All right. This guy's up next Jon Fitch up next, not the biggest job. But he's fighting GSP. I like that. That's what I like. I'm an old school guy. I'm a purist, and I want them to move back to that sort of way of matchmaking. All right. Much more of the Hawaii show right here on ESPN radio. We got so many more calls, Brian Robert rant, Joe..

"I really appreciate this. Randy. Thank you very much. They'll walk you out right over there. And we had Maitree along there. He is Randy the natural Qatar what an honor having him in studio, what a pleasure to have one of the greatest ever in the history of the sport joining us here face to face what a cool moment. And so again that is this Thursday on the ESPN family of networks, you see it right over there. And. NYC be live which is the former Nassau Coliseum the warm immoral and how about that we had been aspirin. And then we had Randy tour like wrestling royalty here back to back sitting in our studio and in a matter of seconds. Hopefully. He will join us. Our next guest who is Daniel Cormie more wrestling rotate, Danny room scene manager to the stars telling me that no one filled in for DC at the Olympics. He made weight and was scheduled to wrestles just a forfeit for the guy who was supposed to wrestle. So that is the tying of that story. How about this? I'm still sort of an odd that we had aspirin and Kapoor back to back in studio. Holy smokes. I mean, when you're standing when you're sitting here talking to to ready to you feel that the history just losing out of his pours. Like, I mean that is a living legend, right? They're considering what this man has done and who he did it against and how important he was in terms of building the sport. I mean, just an absolute honor what a privilege very fun day. Okay. Later in the program. We're going to be joined by George Lockhart, the nutritionist extraordinary who will be sharing some very interesting news with us. So I do suggest you stick around for that. Sit the covy, oh, who's one of the top straw weights in the world. She will join us as well to talk about her future. She also has some news to share. We're also going to be joined by Arjun Buller who is successful on Saturday in Ottawa he defeated one Adams, but his contract is up. And he's he's he's got some things in the works. Some interesting things I loot it to one of those things in my Twenty-one thoughts. Call them. That just came out on ESPN dot com earlier today and at the top of the hour. We're going to be joined by Rory MacDonald. You may have been following that story over the past week or so his post fight comments after the Jon Fitch fight and also on Tuesday, he came out and officially told us that he will not be retiring he will be fighting Neiman Gracie and that fight is going to take place June fourteenth. So I had a lot of thoughts about all that. And I'm curious to hear from ROY McDonald get his thoughts on where he stands how he feels about his career and whatnot. Idee mentioned at the top. Because we wanted to get the aspirin. Of course, we're coming off the U of C Ottawa vent this past Saturday. Donald Sironi successful against Quinta. What a fight what a performance from Donald Surani. He is undefeated still since becoming a dad three. No, you're looking at the results right over there. The biggest story, of course, the main event Sironi Quinta, and it was fairly. I mean by the time the fight was over. We all know, we all knew who won..

"Now, there's a plug for submission underground. Good for me. Not actually why brought this up. I ended up while doing submission underground gate. I won't say who this conversation was with. But I ended up in the process of putting this together in a discussion about the UC and the antitrust lawsuit and these fascinates me because they are made by the most simpleton the most basic of thinkers, but there's a lot of them and their power numbers in if you can get a whole bunch of people together that don't have their thinking cap on you can start to get a whole bunch of voices. And all of a sudden, you gotta go address them. Right. I'm as just the way the world, then you gotta go dress something. So I sit back in these situations. I do a little bit more talk in a little bit more listening than I do talk. But I got a couple of these knuckleheads in front of me, and they're pleading their case for me. And they're saying things like this is not how major sports you're done. And they start talking about the NBA and the NFL and they start talking about hockey and they start talking about baseball. Tell me how sports are done and the UC is not doing things the way that sports are done. And I sit back and listen, and I never take the time to correct them. But inside, of course, because I'm a little bit more of a sophisticated thinker. I haven't the foggiest idea what your point is are you at tempting to compare Dana white to sports guys because if you are wanted to what you get that basis from the only basis that you would have to possibly compare Dana white to other sports guys is the fact that data white comes out and tells you he's in sports Dana was a little kid once that might surprise some of you. He was a young man one time that aspired to grow up and do something guess what? That was those aspirations happen to be to be in the fight game. Now that changed over time. I wanted to be a fighter himself wouldn't be competitive fighter himself. Then you say, you know, I want to be a manager on isn't. It goes, you know, what must take take over the whole damn thing. So you might have heard possibly even from Dana himself that he is in sports business, but you will not hear from any legal mind out there or any objective think of out there that he's in the sports visits or ever has been in the sports visit or can be compared to anybody else in the business of sport from unions to collective bargaining to to rights to distribution to phenomenally, an exponentially, different merchandising deals. They're nothing about that that you're going to compare other sport with this nothing, and he can tell you till he's blue in the phases in sports. He's not he's an executive producer of content, and you could put the business practices that he does against any other executive producer of content from the beginning of time to present time and for the rest of time. It is one hundred percent hand in hand one hundred percent with a slight caveat that early in his career perhaps before we smartened up in fairness, perhaps he eventually got a little bit better advice, but at one point in his career he allowed his talent who he hired and paid to go out and get their own sponsors and keep one hundred percent of the revenue that never should have been done. Guys. I am on the boys side, I stand with the guys in the locker room. I'd not stand with the corporation. But also stand in the world of objectiveness and fairness there is no executive producer of content in the history of time that allows his pay talent to go on and get their own sponsors. Should anybody ever do that should Martin Scorsese one day? Do that. Should Bruce Burnett someday..

"In and I'll tell you why ROY McDonald is coming off a beep. Down like, it's very rare that a champion is going into a fight. And remember what he said on the show last time us on how he wasn't feeling it. He wasn't himself. He was into it. And he's coming off a beatdown a guy who's on a winning streak, very tough fighter who look good his belt debut. Like, I feel like this is actually a lot. I feel like it's not getting the attention that it deserves. I think it's a lot more interesting than people are making it out to be. I think that lowers the intrigue in my mind because he's able to rationalize and face that if he was in denial if he was if he was hiding from that fact, I'd be much more concerned about his chances against John Fitch, the fact that he's able to rationalize that. And actually look at it and say, how can I correct this? And how can I move forward makes me not concerned at all for him? I think he's gonna roll through Jon Fitch. I don't see this being competitive at all. I'd be much more concerned. If he if he was not talking about the fact not addressing the fact that he got beat down badly by gay garden a fight that he was angling for. I have no concerns about Rory MacDonald. I think he's he's a very smart and rational. Fighter. I think he's going to have a great game plan be able to look at the holes that he had in his last fight and just absolutely dominate fish. So no, I don't really I don't think John Fitch has anything for Rory. So I'm not particularly interested. Jeez. Okay. Wait, a rain on my parade. Okay. Would you agree with me that for some reason, and I might qualms with the heavyweight grand prix because I felt goes taking I feel like the heavyweight grand prix had a lot more momentum. Even though they were spacing them out. Then the welterweight grand prix like I feel zero momentum in the welterweight grand prix. Like, I have to remind myself that this is part of the welterweight grand prix. I think it's the natural attraction to heavyweights. I also think it's just anticipating knockouts anticipating, you know, guy. Legends of the sport in the case of failure. For example, being a part of it. I don't. Yeah. I don't think it has the same cash. A it doesn't have the same draw. Even if you know, the spacing is is similar or even more swift in terms of how quickly this torn amounts being executed, but I certainly agree with you the heavyweight grand prix felt big. And this one is kind of flying under the radar. I will say that Rory's inclusion in the tournament, actually. I think has has heard it in a sense that heavyweight grand prix like you knew at the end. There's a vacant title. Someone's going to be crowned champion hear him being apart. Like Rory should have been the pot at the end of the rainbow. Right. And I feel like him being involved in it just kinda makes it seem like random fights. Do you give them saying I do but without him though? It does anybody care even that much without him for all gunning for a shot of ROY McDonald. If he's the prize. Yeah, I feel like it makes a bigger as opposed to like if John Fitch wins..

"He sort of brings that chill son in trash talk a little bit and people appreciate that. People wanna hear the trash up. They wanna hear you know, smart, gentlemen, gentlemen. Trust off the question for the table that will overcome whatever lack of excitement his style. Brucie? Maybe it's exciting because sometimes the whole remember when Silva fi Jon Fitch, John fish whole purpose of of of that fight was to take down, and you know, put on what fans would perceive as a boring. But the battle of the back and forth of stand up going back down, you know, the punching that made it exciting. So we might be in for an exciting fight. Even though the plan is to take the taking down in holding down. It's not exciting. If you're just holding the person, right? It's exciting. If if does or weaving with John does you hold him down, you get them in a position where you can land your strikes, which is why everybody likes MA specific for the ground and pound the ability to dominate controls strike, and then either get the stoppage or whatnot. So I think that's what we're looking for. Are. You is your wrestling adaptable to 'em AMA. Striking and control. Right. So I think that's what we need to see. And maybe he surprises all of us and just strikes I wouldn't do Robbie. But I'll tell you this. I recently, right. I recently watched. But I recently watched Rory and Robbie and warning took Robbie down a lot like alive, but Ravi more significant strikes and Robbie was striking from the bottom. Robby Robby had great almost from the bottom. And I think that's why he won that split decision. So this is an interesting fight from me in in terms of that technique a time when he had a Lawler there was a time where he had incredible takedown defense coming off the injury. God only knows. That's right. There's clinic questions about what he really has left. It's going to be interesting to see what happens there, we could go on about this car forever. There's a million storylines. Let's move it along. Let's circle back if we can to be Danny's favorite topic, the interim titles, let's Vance's when a little bit. So what is happening? We do the show on Thursday Friday rolls around, and they decide that we were talking about gas limb and us of Sonya, I believe yes on that same card. It turns out they're going to have interestingly, the lighter weight fight is going to be the main event that. That will call me by surprise. Okay. "It's it's in that vein of I'm sure what a quiet, I didn't watch a quiet place. But in that sort of suspenseful thriller kind of, you know, not quite horror. It's not as good as like a get out because it's lacking the next level commentary that get out brought to the to the table. But it's good. What is important to me about this? If you watched bright if you watched that Will Smith one, which is kinda disappointing David Eire's if you watch that rom com with Lucy, Liu and what's his face? Stay day was Netflix originals. Yeah. These are all never watching about if you're watching the Cloverfield paradox. I mean, these are all not great great. This is the first one that I've watched that is a Netflix produced movie that has been good that like is like a theatrical type movie is I would say ballot of Basra Scruggs. I didn't watch that. What the hell is that the Coen brothers movie? Oh was about a golfer sounds like legend west Vance. It's it's a western that to me was the tipping point for Netflix. But the point is regardless of what your flavor when you're tasting movies are like Netflix is now not just buying films self producing films that I would pay I would have paid good money to watch the theory. I would've left the house to go see. A lot. Now. I think you're kind of looking back hindsight. Twenty twenty hindsight, right? It's not fair on the other end. Also, I think creative people on some level. They just want their stuff scene. It's not about the money for everybody. Like, obviously, it's important and for everybody it is important and on some level for above the above the line producers or whatever they care about success. And then maybe they more awards at some exactly. And after you have a success like this. You have a lot more power going into your next project. Right. Right. But here I think the power really is on Netflix side. It's on Netflix and showing how they can release something and get way more people in their seats to watch this thing, and this Delury other producers other actors to their platform, Sandra. Bullock was really good in this, by the way. And so I think that's the other advantage here is that if they're still skeptical actors actresses, I think that starts to break all that down that center. With the. That's one of the kids. Jon fitch. He's in the film too. He is he is on the phone. Oh, well, it's a blockbuster film. Speaking blockbusters, I did leave the house once this holiday break to watch a movie, and it was unfortunately, wasn't to watch in spite of arse again, which I kind of wish I did as well. Peter my son wants to but I saw aquaman. Oh, man. All right. Did you see it? Nope. So I can't talk about it. No spoilers say Verghese. That deserves to be seen on the big screen. If you're gonna watch it once it really it makes the most out of the the large format screen. Don't see in three D hated it in thirty. Just like sharks, Wales swimming, and also like the three D I saw an I max head some pros -ation problems where there's a lot of red punchy read from the hair of Mira to Mantas I watching with Anna glasses. No, I'm ex polarized glasses. Okay. But one of the lenses muted the reds and other popped out the reds and combine made the red color, look, really shimmery. And I and I didn't like that at all. But James wan who directed. I believe seven direct this one, and he knows how to direct action movie, and they throw it all on the screen, if they not they basically put all their ideas for documen movie on table. And then did it all and spent the money and blew it out in. It was kind of worth it..

It was a tough one really a lot of great choices and have to say about aka particular because in the end, I do feel comfortable with that pick. They have enjoyed an evolution over the years. You know back in the day. They were just like the kick boxers. Of course, then it was a lot of welterweight. And now they've turned into a really I think a an all around great team. And it was kind of it was kind of breathtaking for me to be there to be honest to watch it. I really appreciate him allowing me to be in that close-door meeting so to speak, and they've really come a long way developing champions, like DC developing champions, like Habib remained off.
