"Michael milken personally out earned mcdonalds a year so if you are somebody with infinite resources but you're also staring down a ninety eight count felony indictment how prosecutors make it worth your while to not flee to not run off to some other place on the earth where you'd be out of the reach of american courts when prosecutors got michael milkin before a judge they asked the for serious bail unheard of bill. They asked for records setting bail. They asked michael milkins bail to be set at a quarter billion dollars. Two hundred and fifty million dollars foreign away the highest bail request. Anybody in america had ever faced. But he's one of the richest people in the world right. Even two hundred fifty million dollars was kind of couch cushion money to maybe just maybe it would be enough to make them think twice about making a break for it if fleeing would cost him two hundred fifty million dollars maybe in the end the judge did not grant that record setting. Bale and michael milkin did not skip town. He ultimatum ultimately pled guilty to multiple felonies. He did pay hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and he was sentenced to ten years in prison. He served two years of that ten but that two hundred and fifty million dollar bail request from prosecutors again. They didn't get it but that was the highest bail. Prosecutors had ever have asked for in history up until that point and in the years that followed. I can tell you that because everything's bigger in texas. A couple of texas judges tried setting bail for a couple of murder suspects in the billions of dollars. Texas judge has tried it but those numbers were lowered or overturned by other courts the record for the highest bail. That actually stuck. That record was set exactly two decades after michael milkins indictment in the case of a hedge fund billionaire charged in a massive insider trading case. His name was raj rosia ratnam and he posted one hundred million dollars bail after he was indicted in two thousand nine. That wasn't more prosecutors. Ju just what they ask for. That's actually what he had to put up one hundred million dollars the highest bail amount ever in american history. And you're gonna have to forgive me. Here just indulge me for second because it's friday and i just i need to give you a little side note here. Do you remember the name john dowd. John dowd was one of the lawyers. Who then president trump hired to defend him during the mueller investigation. A few years before joining the donald trump legal team. Jon dowd was the defense lawyer for raj raja ratnam in this giant insider trading case and that did not go well. Mr roger. ratnam was convicted on fourteen felony counts. He was sentenced to eleven years in prison. That's the longest prison term ever for an insider trading case. You had to put up one hundred dollars bond on the day. He was convicted. A cnbc camera crew caught up with his lawyer with john doubt. Cnbc caught up with mr dowd. Just a short time ago looking shoes. Good to see these wild. Wow okay that's for. Cnbc get tired of that tape. I never get that tape. That guy lost that case so spectacularly and then he got hired by donald trump. That's got for cnbc anyway. So that billionaire hedge fund manager With the huge insider trading case. He got the record sentence. We also believe he got the record for the highest bail..

Boeing again this hour with some breaking news regarding the Muller probe. So according to ABC news, the veteran criminal defense attorney who heads president Donald Trump's legal team during a crucial stretch of the special counsel investigation believes that the entire affair will end in silence from special counsel, Robert Muller and called the massive two year probe into Russian interference in the two thousand sixteen campaign a terrible waste of time. I don't think there'll be a report. Jon Dowd, told ABC news and a wide ranging interview for the premiere episode of the investigation, which is new podcast focused on the probe led by special counsel. Robert Muller said, I will be shocked if anything would garden. The president is made public other than we're done. Dad, who's seventy seven left his role is Trump's lead attorney last March over different us about how to cooperate with the prosecutors. But after spending nearly a year guiding the president's legal strategy, he forged a close relationship with Trump and continues to speak with him about the Russia probe in one of his most in-depth interviews since departing from legal team, you offer a view of the probe very much in line with that of the president, namely that it lacks merit. He says, I know exactly what Muller has. I know exactly what every witness said. Whatever documents said, I know exactly what he asked. And I know what the conclusion or the result is he says there's no basis there's no exposure. It's been a terrible waste of time. Justice department officials have pride guilty pleas out of five former Trump advisors they've indicted twenty six Russian nationals. But none of them have actually testified to or have said that Trump was complicit in collusion with Russia over the election itself. That's why the key witness has remained Michael Cohen, the president's former personal attorney who's made implications along those lines with regard to the president's supposedly violating both campaign finance law and the president. Presumably telling him to lie about a variety of topics including meetings with the Russians over at Trump Tower in Moscow FBI director, Christopher Wray recently, told congress he doesn't believe special counsel Mueller is a witch hunt. The real headline here. The real headline is that Muller may not release the report at all which would be in some ways the worst of all possible circumstances because if no report is released Trump will be blamed for presumably blocking its release, even if that's not true. And if a report is not released then Republicans are going to say that the report said nothing so everybody will just be confirmed in their priors. However, there's a pretty good indicator that they're just is not a lot of their there. I felt for a long time. I don't think that the molar investigation is gonna come up with very much about President Trump if anything at all I've been saying that for years at this point. Ed Morrissey it hot air reports from hot air, the light at the end of the Russia collusion tunnel may well be an actual light and an end to the tunnel after all NBC news reported this morning that the bipartisan and largely ineffective largely effective investigation by the Senate intelligence committee will shortly come to an end without any direct evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia the report will likely come out in the fall, but don't expect any smoking guns. Senate Democrats are warning NBC after two years in two hundred interviews according to NBC news. The Senate intelligence committee is approaching the end of its investigation into the twenty sixteen election have uncovered no direct evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to both Democrats and Republicans on the committee Democratic Senate investigators say it may take them six or seven months to write their final report. Once they are done with witness interviews, they say they've uncovered facts yet to be made public. They hope to make Americans more fully aware of the extent to which the Russians manipulated US presidential election with the help of some Trump officials witting or unwitting the report Democrats say will not be good for Trump. But they also made clear they have. Found proof of their worst fear. Their worst hope rather that the president formed a corrupt pack with Russia to offer sanctions relief or other favorable treatment in return for Russian help in the election. Well, that'll be the end of it. If there is no smoking gun if there's nothing that says that Trump actively colluded with Russia if the best they have is the from tower meeting from June, if the best they have is that members of the Trump campaign have low level meetings with Russian contacts that never made their way up the chain. If that's all they got Trump walks. Right. If that's all they got this is a massive disappointment. Because that is not what they've been pitching, Elizabeth Warren. Lest you forget was saying yesterday on the campaign trail that Donald Trump could wind up in prison before twenty twenty. So this is going to be a massive fail for Democrats. If it turns out anything less than damning evidence, Adam Schiff has had that pup tent. Their Representative from California. He's said that pup tents setup outside CNN and MSNBC headquarters for legitimately two years at this point he's had more free airtime than McDonald's. And yet that guy. Is gonna come up with nothing really damning other than what we already know. That means that this investigation turns to president from benefit if this thing backfires on Democrats, if it turns out they've got nothing that is a huge blow to democratic morale. Because again, there is this wild hope that was out there that President Trump was going to be ousted not by way of voting, but he was going to be ousted by way of this investigation. The slogan was don't worry Muller's got this. The slogan was just wait motor is going to handle this. Keep calm Muller's on the job. But what if Muller comes up with nothing because Senate Democrats knows much smaller this point, you would assume. Mean they've been coordinating presumably with the molar investigations, make sure they're not stepping on his toes. So unless Muller has some shocking news in his back pocket here. This whole thing could end in a giant bust. A giant nothing. According to Ed Morrissey. This will all the more because the Senate Intel committee has been widely seen as much more professional and serious than the dumpster fire investigation conducted by their house counterpart now, the atom shifts in charge, the White House can expect a blizzard of subpoenas and provocative allegations. But this suggests you won't have much to find not that it's stopping shift. He told Chuck Todd on meet the press Sunday that corrupt coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign had already been proven. He said, you know, we're trying to work collaboratively with the Senate. But look, I think the president says there's no collusion what he means is Bob bowler has not yet proven beyond a reasonable doubt. That I am guilty of the crime of conspiracy. Well, it's a pretty high bar when people say, there's no collusion. They must have a different word for the kind of corrupt coordination of effort between the Trump campaign and the Russians because when Mike Flynn was secretly talking to the Russian ambassador and trying to undermine bipartisan sanctions on Russia and lying about it. That was a form of collusion. Well, no it wasn't. That was Mike Flynn who is talking in his capacity as incoming NSA with the Russians. Mike Flynn was prosecuted not on the basis of talking to the Russians news prosecuted on the basis. Of wine to the FBI about talking to the Russians. So he was not actually indicted on the basis of collusion. He was indicted because he was lying about what he had said to the Russians in front of the FBI when the FBI can only come up with a bunch of wives of the FBI charges. That means there's no underlying crime. And that's all we have seen so far all we have seen. So far James Freeman at the Wall Street Journal points out almost two full years after Adam Schiff told NBC he had seen more than circumstantial evidence that associates of Donald Trump had colluded with Russia to rig the two thousand sixteen election, the network not only welcomed him back without demanding that he finally produced the evidence to support his claim NBC gave him a platform to make new allegations. This seems to be the moment for mister Todd's at a man, they Mr. chef was now chairman of the house Intel committee finally produced the evidence he has long claimed to have seen. But instead Todd simply ask shift to quote, explain the parameters of your investigation where you've expanded how far back into his finances. Do you plan to look without defending his earlier claim shift proceeded to explain how he was now? Heading off in search of evidence all the different form of collusion, perhaps involving president from finances. In other words, what's happening here is that shift is shifting the goalposts as Morrissey points out that shift knows what Senate in southbound they didn't find what he thought they would find. And so he's left out there on that limb. It's the Senate Democrats have now sought off behind him. This means that President Trump is in much better shape for twenty twenty that has previously been believed not only because this is not going to come back to hurt him. But also because in the end, he was promised the Democrats were promised over and over and over again that this was going to collapse in on President Trump like a house of cards now they actually have to fight a battle with the guy. They thought they had beat. That's a serious problem for them. So Democrats set the they set the bar too high for themselves. They suggested that this election was lost on the basis of collusion because they could not accept that. Hillary Clinton was a garbage candidate who ran a garbage campaign, and then lost it to a very very weak candidate, Donald Trump. They cannot accept that. It has to be that something corrupt happened. There had to be a day X mackinaw a Russian days mackinaw at intervened in the process in order to ensure that President Trump would become president. Well that collapses they may have to rethink their whole approach to twenty twenty. If turns out that Democrats actually lost in two thousand twenty because they had no mid western appeal in those rust belt states that it wasn't a bunch of Russian memory and evil collusion with the Russians that one Trump the election. Well, then maybe they're aiming an entirely the wrong direction with people like Kamala Harris, maybe they're aiming entirely the wrong direction with folks like Cory Booker or Kirsten gillibrand the radicals in the Democratic Party. Maybe in fact, they should be looking back Joe Biden, but they don't wanna do that. This is where the Russian collusion. Narrative actually has pushed the Democrats into an extraordinarily untenable position. With regard to twenty twenty. I'll explain in just one second first. Let's talk about how you protect your mind security and privacy..

"I love the Wisconsin state legislature. Getting ready to send governor either is the tax cut that he wanted. And basically watching him veto it because it didn't raise taxes enough on manufacturers and farmers. We had a great call before the break from Matt in Madison listening on our new station thirteen ten WNBA honored to be broadcasting in Madison as well as Milwaukee. Now on news talk eleven thirty w s NS we have since this stove show started a couple of years ago. Matt said look with respect to Democrats predatory taxation the democratic socialists wanting to tax seventy percent ninety percent of earnings above a certain amount. That's going to have a devastating impact on small businesses. He said, look what I can do is just reinvest this money and right this office, essentially, the government would get zero. But I have to put it back into my business, essentially, what is is trying to do by eliminating the manufacturing tax credit. The agriculture tax credit is making it more difficult for. Manufacturers in this state and farmers in this state to of the backbones Wisconsin's economy manufacturing and agriculture just make it that much more difficult in very difficult sectors of the economy to make a living in he says, well, we can fund middle class tax cut that way. Well, Republicans wisely said, look, we don't get Foxconn. We don't get the potential for thirteen thousand jobs. We don't get a resurgence in manufacturing. Wisconsin has been amongst the nation's leaders in adding manufacturing jobs over the past couple of years. We don't get any of that without the manufacturing tax credit. And if we're proud as governor is assumed I assume he is if we're proud of our history of agriculture, if we're proud of our history is the dairy state. Well, we need to have agriculture not be subsidised, but we need to make it worth the while. But people so we're not taking so much in taxes out of the sorts of industries that we want to thrive here. What Republicans want to do is take money out of the budget surplus the prosperity dividend that governor Walker was so proud of. They want to fund the middle class tax cut. This this ten percent tax cut with that perfectly reasonable solution. Right. You also have the idea that as more people have more money to spend that money gets put back into the economy. So the government is essentially recouping that in the form of sales taxes, if you have someone who's allowed to keep more of their income if there are middle class. A tax filer, but they haven't employees or two in a small business or a side business. Maybe they can raise their hourly rate. So you're seeing the thinking here is that more money in the hands of more people will expand the economy, and therefore put more money in the hands of government. We're we're getting at the federal level record tax revenues, and I know the stories came out this week. Well, people are seeing they're not seeing as much of a tax cut. What you've got to be paying in to be able to get a tax cut. So the people who weren't paying federal income tax. How dare they you're you're not getting the what is it forty six? Forty seven percent that Mitt Romney famously said who aren't paying federal income taxes? Well, they're not that big of an increase in their take home pay. Well, yeah. Because they're not maybe there was a change in the withholding with their company. I mean, I used to get a much bigger. Refund. In fact, the past couple of years, I haven't gotten a refund because of the way that our company does withholdings it's how much I get per check. So I'm not getting it. And quite frankly, I mean, I've made some more money isn't that the goal? I mean, frankly, it's your money. Whether you get it back in the form of a refund or whether you're allowed to keep more of it in the form of take home pay. This should be the goal. But it is going to be funny to watch governor Iverson. He is going to veto this Bill. He is absolutely going to veto this, and it's going to allow the Republican party to say look this guy wanted tax cuts we delivered him tax cuts and he vetoed it. So big story. You know, it's a big one. When the drudge report goes to read font criminal defense attorney who headed President Trump's legal team during much of the special counsel's investigation is saying today he believes that there will. Be no, quote, unquote Muller report. Jon Dowd, telling ABC news on the premiere episode of a new podcast called the investigation. He says I don't think there'll be a report I'll be shocked if anything regarding the president is made public other than we're done Dowd left his role on Trump's legal team last year over differing views about how to be cooperative or how cooperative to be with. Prosecutors. I actually tend to agree with this assessment. That Muller is not going to write a wide ranging report. Because what people don't seem to understand is. He's not going to be able to. Drop innuendo about crimes he would have charged or present evidence that he's not going to be able to support in a criminal proceeding. Essentially, what Muller's going to do is let his indictments speak for themselves. And as I've said, none of those indictments show a criminal conspiracy between Trump and Russia, quite simply none of them do. And this is a reality that I think Democrats are starting to come to grips with most. Notably Adam Schiff who saying that? Yeah. You know, the Muller investigation never really touched on Trump's finances. And we just know there's something maybe it's his tax returns. Maybe it's that Trump Tower Moscow deal. This is what we're really going to look into and this sort of gives rise to President Trump's complaints that this is harassment. This has no real purpose? There was a special counsel who is deputized to look into. What was supposed to be the biggest political scandal of all time a foreign government working with the Manchurian candidate now president to fix it election to exert Soviet style control over the west through this puppet, Donald Trump, but we're not getting any evidence of that. There were no financial crimes uncovered. In fact, you remember when Rachel Maddow open. The Al Capone vault and found one of President Trump's tax returns. This was a year maybe two years ago. And this was this big build up. It was Trump tax return from two thousand five you know, what it showed that Trump paid a whole ton of money in taxes because Trump made a whole ton of money. You'll on Omar, we told you this story yesterday went on an anti semitic tirade on Twitter on Sunday night in which she basically said that Jewish money is the reason that Republican politicians defend Israel, and that Israel's influence in American politics is because of Jewish money. She tweeted out the lyrics. It's all about the Benjamins baby. And then when she was challenged. What does that mean? She said APEC. Apec is not a pack. It is the American Israeli public agreement committee or whatever it's called free public. I forget what it stands for. But it's not political action committee. It's a five oh one C four. In other words, it can't give any money to candidates. I it simply is prohibited by law from doing that. So Omar apologizes and some reporters catcher issues going into the capital.
