"Welcome back to organized chaos. I'm bart scott. He's rex ryan no need for introduction. Stay pledged rex week file. What do you got force man. Can anybody kick. That's what i got for you. That was absolutely brutal. In some of these came man. And if we're gonna talk about those one o'clock games but i mean mason crosby. Is that hero the game. What no. You're not mace crosby. If you missed three kicks. Three game winners. You're not a hero. And evan mcpherson the kicker for the for the cincinnati bengals by the way if you hit the flag outside the poach. That's not good. You know anything for that thing. So he pulls the old bonehead thing about eighty celebrate my goodness but the but the greatest thing is like maybe like he's been watching too much of the real football players and if they trust the pot on with the ball that's all they have to do it and counts to say for extra point or go you talk about five minutes kicks within the within a game. I was concerned. That was gonna be a tied. But i'll tell you what you know sensationally talking about. We all know about the adults. But you're talk is your bar jomar chase and what he's been able to do at having to drop season the preseason all he's doing is looking like maybe the offensive player of the year. Yeah i remember when he came out and he just he torched clemson and that national championship game. Mike whole my god like i wasn't following college football the way most people do but then at a chance to watch the kid. I'm like the best receiver. I've seen come out of college football and i never saw jerry rice come. I'm just telling you. And then he has the drop sees early or something like that. All any did. Have some drops in this game. But my guess is he an explosive talent in the scary thing is a lot of times. These kids come out and their rookie years. Not so great mean jerry. Rice was the backup. But this kid is only gonna get better. And here's the thing we know we we're ripping these kickers but it spoiled a heck of a football game and joe borough and company slugging it out toe to toe with with the green bay packers aaron rodgers..

"Tremendous three touchdowns these got twenty two or more points in four straight. I'm not give him credit. For three touchdown day he wasn't even trying to score them up and carried them into the zone. We already talked about keyed allen versus jomar chase and mike williams is a stud. I hope he started didn't start him. He was only started in seventy percent of leagues. That's a failure of people. Mike williams begin like nobody told you to sit him either not times when that happened. It's our fault but that wasn't our fault at all. We were asked about on the live show today. "Time. When you dumb warchus into our laps. You expect us to solve them really. Let's see what's i. I don't go to introduce right. Go to the box to joe borough jomar chase. Answer all the doubts in your mind. I'm gonna be real short on this answered. Nothing they answered no doubts they played for the cincinnati bengals not the new england patriots. The only time the bengals can answer. Doubts in my mind are in january. That's it they can't answer anything. September they can't even answer anything in december. This is great. The way they played it was great as the burrow back. I mean tamara and drop anything. Then i noticed just watched quite a bit in that game january tony. That's what you can come back to me and ask me about the bengals. They answered all of my doubts as early as they could answer them. Which doesn't mean there won't be doubts after game four but they answer them right now. Joe borough showed coming back from injury that he can be an elite quarterback in this league as he was at lsu when he won the national championship. Jomar chase showed that the is too big and the lack of stripes on the ball. Doesn't bother him. And i believe he scored a touchdown and they could be a real combination. And that's important because when they were. Lsu in one season twenty touchdowns borough to jomar chase twenty touchdowns most important to me. Mike they wanna game they got tied at the buzzer on a fifty three yard field goal and they persevered in overtime and they won that game. That's not what. Cincinnati normally does. So i personally. I think they look pretty. Gory mind a all week from today. Remind you this ingles licking their wounds from losing to the bears. Are chicago bears. I don't think much of right now weakening and you're sitting audience in one wiz arms will or will be over. Cincinnati ohio state was upset at home by. Number twelve oregon. Was this more about the buckeyes or the ducks. I you know last week because i remember what i said last week. And i'm gonna make you remember what you said this week next week. I said okay. I thought that ohio state was going to be okay that they were going to be really good and last week's close game you know it didn't mean all that much. I appear to have been wrong. I'm gonna pin a lot of this on. oh it i'm not going to bash oregon. I'm not going to be one of the badges everybody in the pac twelve. I'm not doing that but maybe coach day in the buckeyes are not quite as good as they thought they were going into this season with the way. They played saturday against oregon state at all at home. Tony yeah so. Oregon impressed me. Working became the first pac twelve team since one thousand nine hundred ninety. That's thirty one years to beat a ranked team in the top five on road. And i was one of those people in have been abandoned or the pac twelve and yet i watched. Ucla beat lsu. And now i watched oregon beat ohio state. Ohio state gave up. Two hundred forty nine yards rushing yesterday the week before against minnesota they gave up two hundred yards rushing. They lost at home most at home in twenty three games. I agree with you that the problem there could be ohio state. Beat point because one bigger deal at the. Us open rod ikano winning jovovich losing tony jovic losing and therefore losing out on a chance to win the calendar grand slam with mr rod labor sitting right there. That's a bigger story. That's that's the international big time. People don't pay attention to tennis for the last forty years ago. Yeah rod labor but the more important the more complex the more nuanced story is fernandez and racan. I mean not just the match. I mean the match itself was astounding and the way those two women played was astounding and rod a condo winning ten matches. She was a qualifier and not losing uh set twenty straight-sets taken astounding but even more important than that tone. And you're not talking about this on your podcast at length. This morning is the state of women's tennis the fragility and a lot of ways of women women's tennis. There's so young when they come up. Fourteen fifteen sixteen years old. We don't know that we'll see them play each other again. We'll know if they're going to hold up. Under the pressure the scrutiny. A lot of it unfair and that makes me sad that we don't know what's coming within. We'd like to know we're going to see them. You know like federer and the doll play each other for twenty years and we don't know that because of the pressures that operate on these young women that's the more important story today. What radha kanu did is completely unique. No qualifier has ever won a major you list the things about going ten matches and winning all the sets. She was ranked three thirty eighth in the world. Before wimbledon. somebody thinks three hundred thirty seven women in the world were better than it was an amazing thing that she did winning this but the bigger story is jovic because he was looking for tennis and mortality in front of rod. Laver right there to win the actual grand slam and not only was he beat. He was beaten in straight-sets he was beaten. Every which way you could be beaten and denied his immortality so when the shorter term and maybe the longer term mike. That's the larger mushonga shoes. Got one more shots he will. He'll have two years of it but we'll see let's take one last break.

"The only thing. I i didn't really you know i know the carriers are pretty even but was it. I think it was mostly even even for much of the game. It was williams the entire. I drive swift the entire second drive and they just kind of mixed and matched from that point on. Okay dave's winters are jomar chase. Adam you see. This van jefferson touchdown go on twitter. Jomar chase jalen hurts and mile sanders. You want to talk more about chase. i think it's pretty clear now that everybody recognizes that. They overreacted to what they saw in the preseason and the guy who was so talented when he came out of lsu and then waited a year to come into the nfl Is the real deal. And he's going to have good opportunities moving forward. I don't really think. I think everybody's ready to search march every week. One person on twitter told me. I knew there was a chance i was benched regardless i knew there was a chance he would go off. I had to see it first and that might have been the sentiment that a lot of fantasy managers had with chases they had to see it. I and now that they've seen it they're gonna buy in for awhile. He's bought himself at least three or four weeks. If he has three more bad games has a bunch of drops then people will worry but for now. No one's worried. Yeah i'll tell you should be wearing mile. Sanders really should have had a better game than he had he. I thought he looked good. He had no catches in the first half and the second half. He's getting targets. You had four catches in the game. I began a lot of nice runs. And you know gain well sole touchdown and hurts had some yards i i think mile sanders could end up having a pretty decent year after all. How many of gain wills carries came after the game was kind of out of control. I don't know i can look that up. But his touchdown came after a kind of long miles. I saw that but it would concern me..

"Stunk buyer sell tj better than pits recipe season. I'm buying it. Because i was saying it for the last two months by. Let's that's an easy by. I guess it's easier for us. I wonder what the audience let's see audience. What do you think. Bersell hodkinson over pits. Let me know just type in hopkinson pits. I want to get some instant reaction do you like. I had the chance to watch the falcons offense before we came on the air and once they were down by ten scores. This game was over. The eagles were getting to matt ryan and they had a good zone coverage defense. That kept the big plays from happening. The only two plays all game A fifteen plus yards or more. One of them was by pits. It's the best. Play the game eighteen yards so he needs more targets. He needs more work but that offense figure out a way to beat zone coverage hopkinson absolutely crushing it right now and i think that's probably a little little recency bias right a little reaction a week one but they were obviously close. Just nobody's panicking about calvin ridley. Nobody's taking you know. Amari cooper over calvin ridley. I don't think think. So maybe with the gallup injuries a little bit different but yeah really all right by or sell. I think it's gonna be pretty close buyers but it's not a season long all right all right by herself. Jomar chase is the best bengals wide receiver. In fantasy. going forward. He had one hundred yards and a touchdown. One hundred and one higgins had fifty eight yards and a touchdown void had thirty two yards by herself. Jomar chases the best bengals wide receiver going forward. I'll buy it and this is one of those things that irritated me Because i let the talk. I didn't wrote it and really care about the drops but i really cared about how much he seemed to care and how much he seemed to be talking about the drops and so i had lowered him quite a bit for week. One but we've had we. I think we all had ranked this way for most of the preseason if not all but the last week so yes it okay. I kept it that way. All preseason so i'll say i buy too but i don't feel nearly as confident about that one as i do. The hopkinson pits. One because higgins had a good game and he didn't even play the whole game he left. He was dehydrated. He added to stop and then he came back in all right by herself. Corey davis and his ninety seven yards and two touchdowns on just seven targets. Corey davis is set for a monster season. His what it is. It was the top target gutter. The the first touchdown scored was just right place right time type of the deal but the second one was pretty good and i think the jets offense look totally out of sync in the first half. They got their act together in the second. Half gives me optimism for the whole offense but davis looks like he's gonna keep on where he left off.

"Kenny golladay. Kenny gone in daniel jones. Have i mean kenny. Golladay is just seeing the practice field. Now i think if ken golly has a good season. It's gonna take a while to get started. I think even if you're high on kenny golladay season a massive week. One i think is kind of crane must be spending too much time out there on sucks island because bradbury island is very nice. This time of year and jerry. Judy is going to be hanging out for sixty minutes. I think. I think both numbers are going to be pretty low but i would still have to go bridge ordering just because they've had a whole preseason to work together. Okay i just sneak in. Well one against i to be clear. I don't hate. George kittle but this is crazy. We laid out the case or jared. Goff might rack up a bunch of passing yards. And don't don't confuses with me. Liking jared goff but jared goff and tj hopkinson at plus two forty five especially. Because you know like who who are the lines targets. We don't know hopkinson. You could make a case is kind of. They're most reliable target. He's the guy that probably has one of the best resumes of the of the people out. There it sounds a little bit like you've acquired the land. Mass next sucks island and you are expanding. It's too good of a deal. Sometimes you just gotta get trickiness with this price. But most of these are relatively close to even money golfing. Tj hodkinson a plus two forty five or garoppolo and kit minus two ninety. If i'm the forty niners i come in and i just pound the rock with most pound. The rock a with trae sermon. And maybe get you know. Get trae lance in there. There's i mean trey lands could be involved in in passing. They're they're definitely going to give trailer at some wild looks some like running around stuff. That's going to eat away jimmy. Jeez passing yards. He's never been a big past. Yeah i mean like honestly this price must have something to do with like the expectation of what people are going to bet because there are a couple of these maybe they need to lupus into the process. Sean because the i i just i don't know who's laying to ninety with jimmy g. and kiddle when they're going to run the ball thirty five plus times in that game Man i keep. I'm trying not to give out every one of these. But joe borough you did another one schober jomar chase or kirk cousins and just jefferson. I hold you didn't say the price it would blow people's mind that kirk cousins and justin jefferson. The dog in this matchup even money. Yeah i know i know. The vikings are on the road and again maybe and cook. Has that massive game. It's hard not to like the entire. Vikings offense honestly and jomar chase again rough preseason. Maybe he still ends up being a good prospect. But i joe borough played three snaps and chase his preseason numbers and really pat again thinking of it more like this march has to other wide receivers. That are going to take touches away. Joe mixing meanwhile what do we. What did we miss earth. Smith is out of there we. It's still but again. He's new to camp. Adam dealing is there but feeling could steal some yards. One guy and alvin. I just think on the bengals guarding justin jefferson. The bengals defense is in the show me mode. She'd they're gonna have to show us any other ones like right. I mean we feel like we gave out everyone so we can. we can move on. Yeah there's There's some pretty fun ones. their prize. picks that's right price. Picks we're gonna be talking about them on our dfs episode given out It's daily fantasy simplified. Just give out You know just pick over and under on these player totals and we just basically went through a bunch of players..

"That's reality that's reality doesn't mean i'm giving up on him doesn't mean i'm freaking out. It means that the young man has had trouble adjusting to making catches through his first three. Preseason games he could turn it on and week one and we never talked about it again. Never hear from it again and we laugh ten years from now about everybody freaking out about jomar chase dropping balls in preseason his rookie year not overly concerned but it is something to keep an eye on it. It is something you have to monitor. We get into one week one week. Two and jomar chase is still struggling to catch football. Then you have to move it immediately up the list of things. That are a major concern. You drafted him for a reason. You needed him. You need that big play threat outside. I don't feel like we've been given. I don't feel like the offensive line has been removed a concern right but i feel like they at least showed that they're a step up from a year ago so far that it's going to be in a better situation. I guess if you will than they were at this point in time last year when every snap basically look like jailbreak right. Remember that last. Preseason even within borough wasn't in you thought they were going to get the backups. Killed defensively. I think you have to be pleased with what we saw so far through three. Preseason games i defense didn't get a ton of snaps together. But when they were on the field they look pretty good. They didn't look awful. Which is an improvement because much like the offensive line last year. The defense has been awful. Got to be worried about trae. Wayne's got to be concerned but bone lines are open. This is your chance. The fifty three man roster is set. We have seen three preseason games. Where you at. Where are you at in relation to where you thought you would be so weird having a bye week after the final preseason game because you see that final preseason game your mind says all right. The season starts next week. But it doesn't this a good chance to take stock. See where we're at when we come back. Greg from madeira will let me know where he's at. I'll let you know where. "Stand up in front of the media in one thousand nine hundred five midway through the season and stand up and say everyone jerry. Rice is gonna be okay. He's he was dropping a ton of balls. There was controversy over. Should wear gloves. She'd go back to hands. Is he worked too. Hard as you not work hard enough. This guy's a bust jerry rice rookie bust and remembers this. There's a stories about it. You know looking back on. His career was over and sent to zack. Taylor and brian callaghan in into into all bunch of the coaches about like happens to everybody. I remember this being the topic. And it's and that's what i say it's not about the career which mar chase right now. It's about how long is this going to last until we can move past this. What does that mean for the early part of this this week one to me is about. It's it's third and six. Jomar chase has a ball coming toward him. The bengals needed convert. Doesn't catch it. This isn't about whether he's gonna prove in two three or four years to be worthy of the fifth overall pick. this isn't about him versus peninsula. So this is against the minnesota. Vikings it would help to have a guy playing the the number of snaps that i envision jomar as playing being able to catch the football when it comes his way especially in critical situations. That's all this is about to me. Yes i think you're being fair based on what we saw on friday based on what you guys have had a chance. And you've written about to see in practice. I think you're being fair if that ball is coming his what you hold your breath absolutely and you know to me the conversation. The last year t higgins had high expectations in early in the year. He didn't start the opener. Play fifteen snaps in the opener. John ross was playing and he played more in the second game after they. Kinda pull the plug on john. Ross midway through that game and then it took him a couple of games when he was playing a lot to really get it going including we talked to. You ain't talked about the drop. He had against philadelphia that cost them winning. And the difference in winning and tying install remembers it vividly as these lessons at every young receiver has to learn. We've never viewed jomar chase through that lens..

"I think in the in the preseason favors gaskin. So i mean you know he he said i had gaskin over sanders before the preseason started. So i'm gonna go back to that after seeing sanders and gaskin after this week all right. Let's go to our next one. Is the running back and wide receiver. Both named chase jomar chase who had some drops and hasn't had a good preseason. So far or chase edmunds tomorrow. Chase or chase. Edmunds if similar. Adp's who would you take. It depends what you need. Yeah they're they're going to be close in that late round five early round six range and i do have to march as a little higher. I'm not going to judge them. Based on three clumsy drops from brandon allen heath. I moved them quite a bit closer. I was actually just trying to look it up. I've got chase edmunds now. Four picks ahead of marci. So i guess i'd take the running back. I mostly agree that it depends on what you need at that point in the draft. But i'm kinda getting tired all the negativity surrounding chase and i have just completely glossed over the fact that he didn't play football for a year and a half and maybe we should take that into account a little more. It's kind of looks like it's night with trillions and day of you had james connor as a rankings faller. So i thought maybe you'd be a little higher on on chase. Edmunds talk about what. You're seeing in the cardinals. Backfield sure edmonds is starting. Edmonds is a better fit for what this offense is. Edmunds played more than connor. In the second. Preseason game conner didn't play in the first. Preseason game this offense is headed toward. like what buffalo's was last year where they're just going to have everything. Run through the quarterback and so edmonds is the better fit and passing downs..

"Bets hey i just realized that there's a version of the season where there's a lot of running back injuries. And lamar league twelve touchdowns. I mean look i i think you know we. We like Got said it it. Just the team knows what they are like. Sometimes it's important to know what lane you're operating in and just be good at that and look at this. There's no reason they can't be the one seen again. I i really love that. Plus five hundred action shown cincinnati. Fourteen eleven and one. They had a tie last year. John i know they went under their win. Total of six This was not a good football team without joe borough. It was barely a good team with with him. I think They were a little unlucky Winning one game less than their expected fourth in the division With the twentieth hardest schedule. So it's gonna get harder this year. Football outsiders project the twelve hearts schedule. key additions key losses Jomar chase obviously the big one. Not drafting the linemen. Probably not the right. Move going for the razzle-dazzle And and really the offensive line problems. Go back to like two thousand sixteen and this. They're just not trying to solve the problem so probably not a good sign that they didn't draft the the the linemen especially with The rate at which joe borough got hit last year sean. They ran the most. They ran the most No backfield In the league. I really blanked on that empty backfield in the league. And no back there is no strategy backfield Most in the nfl. And they were. Borough was sacked or the quarterback was sacked on almost ten percent of the place. So that's not a recipe for winning certainly not a recipe for keeping your quarterback healthy and then on the defensive side.

"Kind of underwhelming even if that's not a direct reflection of how good the player was and i think that's the best way to frame the matt ryan thing ryan's career has been extraordinarily successful. The atlanta falcons while having extraordinarily successful quarterback haven't won anything. And if i'm a falcons fan especially given how close they were when they led that super bowl. Twenty eight to three. I feel underwhelmed. I frankly feel under. Well i'd fill in wealth of saints. Fan drew brees rewriting. The record books for a decade and a half. I don't know that i would include me in that. I and i know how good these guys are. But but i i think what you were looking for from from jamaica chase to meet the reason. Why the j. green comparison doesn't work as aj. Green was being asked to step in and immediately a number one wide receiver with a rookie quarterback and his running mate. That year was jerome. Simpson here. you're adding jomar chase to a very good pair of wide receivers now. That pair of wide receivers may make you believe that. They didn't need to go get a wide receiver next. That's not an unfair take. I won't necessarily point. That is point that out as something. That's an accurate. But i think what they're hoping is that jomar chase is the beneficiary of being a wide receiver group that has already somewhat difficult to defend. I don't think. Aj green was acid. Angiogram was immediately has to be a one any demar chases necessarily being asked to be a one. I think he's being asked to bring a certain skill set to the table immediately. I think he's being asked to bring something to the table immediately from a productivity standpoint. And it's been you know in that range kind of ranging between twenty two and twenty eight percent Depending on what you consider making the playoffs is we have you know. Playoff contention starts at seven wins and goes to obviously eleven wins and the super bowl contenders. Twelve or more wins. So i mean if you wanna break it down. The bengals are by our numbers that we played the season now one million times in a projection system and then plug in the numbers. And when we do that the bengals win between six and eight games. Forty one percent of the time right and they're nine to eleven wins roughly the same as their zero to five range. So when you say it's a twenty seven percent chance of making the playoffs and yeah. That sounds pretty good. Unfortunately they have about the same matter. Chance of being in contention for the first overall pick in the draft again so you know basically. It's a volume of numbers and the overall volume says that the bengals most likely this year will be kind of mediocre more in the six to eight six two nine six to ten in range and of course you remember. There's a seventeen game this year. Which throws everybody everybody's thinking of You know the optimistic fan and certainly we can number ourselves especially that time of year. Well look at it and say yeah you know they. They should be wild card contention in the numbers. Bear that out on the other hand you can look at it at the same to sit the very same numbers and say well. You know if injuries happened. Not just a job rural but just any kind of a cluster position group or anything like that. That usually happens around the nfl level. You know they could easily wind up being out of the out of the race by kober again. So it all depends on how you look at it and also taking the sort of overall big picture projection system kind of as a range rather than you know making exact predictions the gentlemen. I've had mike on this show before my tenure was not a fan of the bengals taking jomar chase instead of soul and you were a part of the almost the nationwide conversation about teams so versus team chase. I'm very willing to admit. I was team chased. Then i'm teen chase now. Do you share the opinion that mike has in the piece that not only should the bengals have taken a soul but that bypassing him was a colossal mistake..

"The vacuum is a great player and he's great to have on your team for me. It was always more about your team concept and the construction of your team. What happens when i you know. You have frontline guys. Like joe mixing got her in the cj. Who's got hurt. God forbid you burgos gets hurt. Everything goes down the toilet but even if it's just other skill players get hurt. What happens then. Well if you if you're offensive line good you're still going to be at least competitive and if you can bully other teams which is something the bengals so seldom do and i really want them to do it. It's very personal thing. I have to say but you know if the bengals when they were at their best in the years that we've talked about the glory years nineteen eighty eight and two thousand five and twenty fifteen. They bullied other teams up front. That to me is where you want to get back to was will the guy to do that. Maybe maybe not you have that discussion. You look at the tape and you decide whether or not he is the guy that there. But i think the overall point is what you want to do is do as much as you can to get that offensive line. Not just decent but powerful strengthen your team and then if you can do that everything else kind of flows from there and you don't have to draft a player quite the quality of jomar chase in that top five slot. You can have a good receiver. You know like they did. Last year where higgins explodes the second. Rounder tyler boyd. And that's great as jabbar chases and proves to be you. He's gonna be out there in an island whereas as we all know that game starts up front and to me it was worth you know..

"Know because i'm trying to think like i've ever. Pc started in two thousand eight. But i don't know if we're necessarily commission online drafts on the very first year i remember being in beautiful northeast wisconsin at like midnight or twelve thirty in the morning and i'd get emailed screenshots screenshots. I get emailed photos of live draft boards. And it'll be like our bulky. Just enter these rosters. And i'd be up to like i didn't look forward to it at all but but thankfully technology has come a long way. So has the undefeated right. I'm pretty sure my first year was two thousand eleven because we were still using our tease draft software. Back right so for me. It's been about a decade and and it has come a very very long way in my decade. I've had very very little complaints about anything like you said. Most of the people ninety nine point nine percent of the people that joe us fantastic. They're also they're awesome. The gods easy and really my my wanting to be on the show was mostly just a harassment. Best friend augie on his show. No question no surprise there nothing less. We're going to a couple of emails right now That a couple of bill in passaic new jersey writes with so many good receivers in the bengals offense and tyler boyd. Jomar chase intego. Who is the right guy to draft and football guys. An main event leagues this season. Thanks price that is bill in passaic new jersey. Bryce to give you the lay of the land when it comes to bengals receivers right now. Jomar chase is going off board currently as wide receiver. Nineteen at the end. Of the fourth round tee higgins wide receiver. Twenty five at the end of the fifth. Round and tyler boyd wide receiver. Thirty eight at the end of the seventh round. Where is the value. There and multiple answers are accepted. Wow i'm i'm really surprised at tyler boyd is so so low i mean 'cause nobody's just got their undies in a bundle over pagans and chase that i think that's what it is. That's okay so that that to me is a little bit odd. And i mean if you can if you nap boyd. As as adp that seems like fantastic value to me He has proven himself to be perfectly capable of being the guy and higgins. Don't get me. Wrong is no slouch he can. He can handle his own. But i mean between the three of those jamaa chases still unknown. And i get that people wanted to nab their rookies early because he has this projected future to be fantastic. And i don't disagree. I think he is going to be very good. But the sure shot thing if you can get Boy that low from nail him. I would absolutely draft him whereas and probably a little bit higher than that. I was in a kentucky fantasy football state championship checkered flag draft recently. And i did tyler boyd. On that team. I'm just looking enough right now to see where i got him. I remember it being fairly late. It was the let's see I guess it was matt late. That we got him at the six round. But that's kentucky scoring where. I'm sure you in kentucky linus or you gotta start three receivers use my number three there and and i'm okay with that. You know. it is what it is. But i think you know as much as i want to say chase and higgins are duplicate players because i chase can do so much more but they are more downfield guys in and.

"They made improvements among the offensive line and their defense still trash so at all equals out to a pretty pass heavy offense. I love a one year later. We say tyler boyd is dell in this offense. Yes he still is. It's weird to say that. I agree tyler boyd. Just your your wide receiver three just your casual wide receiver three. You guys stopped me if you've this before but you cannot sleep on joe mixon this year never. Have you heard that. I've never heard that phrase. I know we hear it every single year. But i am buying into it this year in two thousand eighteen and twenty nineteen. He rushed for over eleven hundred yards with far less talent around him on this roster. He's an excellent receiver as evidenced by a career eighty percent catch percent inch and he's always had to split duties. Geo bernard bernard is finally out of the picture. P ryan williams and evans are not going to be a threat to his receiving work. If mixing can stay healthy he has ability to push for top five running back this year. Jake you really like nixon right. i do. I'm really high in mixing this year. And it's because of the addition of marches and the emergence of tee higgins often. Excuse me defenseless. Can't just focus in on mixing like you alluded to before he used to be the only real weapon outside of tyler boyd. But with t taken a big step last year jomar teammate that they set records with like i just expect off defense has to be much more concerned with the wide receivers. This year opened up those lands for for mixing like you said with chase man him borough play together. Lsu it was truly special to watch. He's the best wide receiver in the draft. Class used selected fifth overall by the bengals. Especially when a lot of people were fully expecting them to take penny sewell just because boroughs coming back from an injury so it made sense. But that's how much they like jomar chase but the thing that i'm not liking about chase right now is his. Adp's currently going at pick fifty five. They do already have the chemistry but he did sit out last year. Do you think it takes them some time to get caught up to speed or does that chemistry with borough power that no. I think it should be a quick transition for him into the nfl. Kinda deep passing threat explosive. Chemistry really helps their borough and chase. But i think at their current. Adp's tee higgins all day over jomar because chases gonna come in automatically and command. The double coverage where tee higgins last year. He had thirteen games where he had eight targets per game. Yeah i don't understand. Why chases going above higgins like we're talking about a guy that we have seen do it for an entire season versus a rookie. Still coming into this league. There's no reason with them being on the same team that she should be going ahead of higgins despite their draft capital as despite the chemistry that they may have higgins proved that he can play in this league. Were technically speaking. Chase has not proud of quarterback right the good news for any bengals wide receiver. Truth is out there. In general is the fact that they had a third wide receiver on the field on eighty two percent of the snaps year which was second most in the nfl. So you really don't have to worry about any of these three losing playing time. Which is is the good news. But that's why alternately actually waiting and i'm taking tyler boyd at his. Adp of one hundred six boyd was wide receiver. Nine and boroughs ten starts. He's a high volume slot wide receiver. That you currently are landing in the ninth round. So i'm actually taking tyler boyd at his..

Philadelphia Eagles Sign Super Bowl 47 MVP Joe Flacco

"Big news coming out of philly. Yesterday joe flacco agreeing to a contract with the eagles. It's a one year deal. Three and a half million dollars. Guaranteed the opportunity to win. Four million more in incentives. Now what does this mean. As far as the eagles and their draft plans remember. They only have one quarterback on the roster until this and that's jalen hurts and they have the six pick in the draft and as you see mel kiper junior and his latest mock has been taking the superstar receiver tamar chase from lsu which would be awfully knife or any quarterback that they have there but so does this mean mel again. It is not your expectation mel with us field. Yates as well here today. It does this mean and again. You're you're mock has them taking chase anyway but the signing flacco does that in your view. Close the door on any possibility that they draft a quarterback at number six. I think they would even going in before flacco. You think about. Joe flacco wise ian eagle thinking about the baltimore raven connection with the philadelphia eagles. Joe douglas and joe flacco who drafted where the want super bowl with the baltimore ravens. So there's that always that connection you can always go to. Guys are picked up later in their career. So for joe. Douglas bringing in a joe flacco you think about what he was doing with the jets in terms of the situation there. And then you've got the philadelphia eagles their same type of thing that raven connections. So i think when you look backing up jalen hurts right now. I don't think he's a threat. I think jalen that guy get jomar chase and go four with him and help jalen hurts and then reassess after the year's over that's what they will do that influence with the raven organization in philadelphia as a factor. I think it's a factor throughout the green and there always is joe. Flacco is a good backup came in the league. Same your matt ryan did and that ryan slow playing great football of course super bowl but Joe flacco did. But i think it's a good situation to have joe flacco there behind. The jalen hurts. Jalen hurts gets hurt. Your season's not over joke and still play. But i think this is jalen team right now. I thought it was carson wentz's team that didn't work out. But i think if you get your march help jalen hurts and then you make your decision air to this year whether in the twenty twenty two draft you have to think about drafting. A young quarterback failed. Same question to you. Does this mean in your mind that the eagles are out of the quarterback market at six. It does not greedy in. Here's a simple reason. Why i agree with everything else that i'm going to double back to that in just a moment. I just have long believed that if you are convinced. A player can be a franchise quarterback that if he's available at six. You have to at least consider it. If you're philadelphia. Now that being said all the indications this offseason from the previous reporting from more about the eagles plan to build around jalen hurts this year plus the signing of joe flacco which at least gives them a veteran option at the very least relatively modest priced by the way three point five million dollars. There are so many signs at the plan. This year is to find ways to make jalen hurts better so i still believe that ultimately the eagles are gonna be in prime position to land one of the best pass catchers in this year's draft a quarterback should not be entirely ruled out. And that's just me having seen the league long enough to know that sometimes teams do things the catch us by surprise even if they should not have caught us by surprise

The story of Trevor Lawrence's life-changing summer

"So we just discussed how Trevor Lawrence is influence has been growing this off season I taking on issues of public health and racial inequality. But last month. The very thing that gives Trevor Lawrence his enormous Megaphone College football was put in jeopardy as players in conferences. Having. These discussions about canceling the season. What role in those discussions did Trevor Lawrence play. It was a Sunday night early August enduring. Trevor. Together again. There at travers fiancee's apartment and rumours are starting to pick up steam that some of the biggest most powerful conferences in college football the Big Ten PAC twelve that they're seriously considering, postponing their fall season, and this is coming at the end of a week. When of PAC twelve players have released a statement on the Players Tribune using the Hashtag we are united. And they've threatened to out fall CAM even opt out of games unless the conference mixed their demands for fair treatment and safety regulations and less the conference addresses concerns over racial justice, and meanwhile on a nearly parallel track, you have players the cost, the country, trevor, and fluted tweeting the Hashtag. We want to wait to express their desire to keep the seasonal live. So, in the Sunday night when it feels like college ball is teetering, it's actually dairying who decides to reach out to Dylan bowls. One of the players the Pactel's we are United Movement because endearing mine Houston gain. If we all join together the players in the we are united movement and the players in the we want to play movement that would be undeniably powerful for players who don't have concrete power who don't have a real seat at the table at least not yet their collective voice with the really hard to ignore because truly. So many of these fires want the same thing they want to play football this fall, they just want to do it in a safe responsible way. Dylan Daring, trevor they get on a three way facetime called a hash all this out to make sure they're all on the same page and that very quickly evolves into a zoom call with a dozen or so some of the biggest names in college football right Justin fields chew behind nausea. Harris And matter of thirty minutes, they agree to roll out a list of demands from this new fused Mecca Movement. It was amazing. How quickly we all got on the same page put something together I feel like the majority was getting spoken for. And we were like, Hey, we WANNA play. We want it to be safe but we do to take a watt mandated and universal safety procedures for Covid nineteen and they want to form players association. And it pretty much the stroke of midnight. These players, Tweeden Unison. But it's trevor naturally whose tweet is hurt the loudest he's re tweeted some fifteen thousand times including one quote tweet from President Donald Trump, and it's just a few days later actually that someone from the White House reaches out to Amanda Lawrence Trevor Lines mom letting her know that the president would like to get in touch with trevor. So hold on. So he has the president of the United States listening to him. Now let alone all of his peers across college football. What was that conversation with Donald Trump? Like? You know I would have loved to be a fly on whatever wall in whichever room that phone call took place the president has said really that trevor just reiterated his desire to play this season but trevor for his part hasn't divulged too much about that phone call. Conversation it was good I mean we just talked about kind of the whole we talked about that. We WanNA play like how's it going? How's it looking for the season and? president trump was just saying, yeah, I think our country needs college football and. then. Some small talk. Yes. We a little bit about what was going on in my life and vice versa. So that was pretty much the conversation though trevor is twenty years old the president of the United States wanted to speak to him. That is remarkable crazy. No matter which way you cut it. So. Let's recap here Halley Grossman because since March Trevor, Lawrence Age Twenty has faced pressure to help mitigate a global pandemic fight racism save the College football season display a level of political savvy and or gamesmanship that is obviously well beyond his years. So what else can you possibly be asked to do at this point? I mean look putting your stamp of approval which he's done on a list of demands that includes creating players. Association is a big deal. That's a radical way to reimagined that amateurism model that governs. College football right now but I think what this summer has shown is that trevor doesn't plan to quiet down you just a few days ago a whole lot of guys that original zoom call we talked about reconvened because they revealing again from a police shooting of a black man again, and so in the days after Jacob, Blake was shot. Trevor and Darien and Dylan, and a whole host of others talked once again to hammer out ways to help to draw attention to the issue and hopefully bring change. Trevor Lawrence football season is starting tomorrow and if all goes according to plan. He's GonNa win the heisman before becoming the first overall pick in next year's NFL draft teams have been salivating over his talent. There have been rumors that teams might even want to tank for Trevor Lawrence this season. So the question really that is, why is he even putting himself out there like this? Why even play the season? I mean that is the question, right? We have seen plenty a high profile opt-outs this season jomar chase at Lsu. Mike Parsons at Penn State today. Oregon. These are first round top ten NFL draft guys but no one literally nobody has less to lose by not playing the twenty twenty football season than Trevor Lawrence. are in a player having a job borough like. Or I don't know an asteroid hitting the earth, his Cossacks to go number one overall are safe, and at the same time, no one has less to gain by paddling the status quo or shaking up the current system than trevor does this system works just fine for him? He is a young white man. He's a young white quarterback, and so I asked Amanda, his mother that seems washing. Why? Why do all this? I put himself out there and she said something interesting she said look. there. are players out there who do need to even if trevor doesn't and there are people out there for whom the status quo and the current system don't work even if it works for him and he understands that now probably better than he ever has and he just wants to help. That's really it know told me one of his goals for the senior only meeting because he wanted everyone to understand that unless everyone is good no one is good and trevor, his best friend took that to heart. Of the day, there's so much division in our country. Just word of some people that WanNa see people together, WanNa see people love each other and I think that's where a lot of the things I do. It stems from that just wanted to see people happy together not divided. With all this pressure now from all of these different places in our country. Landing Atop. Trevor Lawrence's shoulders. What are you personally expect from him when the season starts? Because of the ways in which Trevor Lawrence has stepped onto center stage this summer it's almost easy to forget what it is. That gives him that stage in the first place, he is extremely good at his job. Term Lawrence is an excellent quarterback. Making predictions in two, thousand, twenty, hundred, probably a fools errand. But tomorrow, there's football comes we'll pay wake forest, and if clemson continues to play if they and the ACC and the big twelve and sec are able to play a full season, don't be surprised to see Trevor Lawrence back on the national championship stage. Don't be surprised to see Trevor Lifting the national championship trophy and along the way don't be surprised to see trevor continuing to speak out and perhaps that's one of the safest predictions you can make in twenty twenty. Life to be reflection of what I say and what I believe I've been thinking about everything that's going on and I think there has been some some moments where I had to say some things because it's just the right thing to do and it's time really is just how I live my life I want it to reflect what I say. I. Would always be the same person I want to be consisted. Eliot Grossman. Thank you for jumping on stage with. US. Thank you so much for having me. Pablo.

Joe Burrow, LSU complete dream season to win the national title

"Morning after. LSU's national championship. Victory over Clemson We are still here in New Orleans. Bruce what what do you think will be your lasting image of the game you know. I don't I don't know I mean because it was a lot of thoughts going through my head just seon beyon- early on like when suicide next to me in the press box it felt like for the first couple of drives were not breath not much is going on but then Clemson at LSU backed up their territory. Lot Zero blitzing. They they definitely I think Brent Venables had the LSU offense the ants on its heels and then clemson started to go a little bit in Clemson's did some big plays and I don't know what point was seventeen seven or or something along the lines of that. I I think our colleague Ari Wasserman put out something that was like who covers Ohio state as if it's unclear We all know it's unclear whether this is just a blatant troll job or not. He's after watch. It was early in the game when he said watching these teens. I'm really to do tweets. It was another another one that was a reference to while. Lsu like they were fortunate that they got Oklahoma. 'cause they wouldn't have gotten through like your comes to blow out from Clemson. We saw this movie the last year against Alabama at remember thinking. This offense is GonNa get going where I didn't really expect. Stu was Trevor Lawrence his talented in his as gifted as he is looked more like a freshman last night for you on Monday night then he did last year against Alabama when he actually was a true freshman and Dan so to see that You know it was just like Whoa here at combs it was like an avalanche and it felt like this where I was going with that it felt like when we were sitting there watching it was like all right. Clemson feels like that dominated the first the first half but at one point it was like that controlled the first half and all of a sudden. Now they're down by one another so now they're like a deep hole and Lsu's getting the ball back. It was just think just felt like this thing was destined to happen. Yeah as I in the Lsu locker room and then went back and wrote Sept- sat down to write. It felt like just it was yet another game where Joe Jonesboro dominated and and was yet another. LSU blow out. And then as I kind of look back in my notes you realize Gosh I can hardly remember it now but this was the game was twenty eight to twenty five early in the third quarter after constant score a touchdown then clemson held LSU and it gets the ball back where the chance to take the lead. And I say that because by the time the game was over you would never remember it. was that close Because we saw yet another Sterling performance format from borough Jomar. Chase was unstoppable You know I wrote primarily about borough in my column from the game because I think what we just witnessed was without question region. The greatest season a college quarterback has ever had and to the point. Where you know you and I had podcast in the past where we talked about we debated Cam Cam? Newton's amazing season Vince young amazing season where they ranked in the in the Where they ranked his players right among all time? Great College players. Joe Borough rush like Cam. Newton is gonNA remember for just one season but Each through sixty touchdowns sixty and so oh just to put that in perspective that great Excuse me that great Vince. Young season he had thirty eight D.. Accounted for thirty eight rushing and passing touchdowns Ashdown's Tommie Frazier Ninety Five Nebraska. No that was a different era. He accounted for about two thousand yards of total offense. Borough when you put in his rushing six thousand yards of offense offense and they did it against a schedule that was so tough that when the final. AP poll came out Late Monday night. LSU had beaten five of the top eighteen which were pretty sure has never been done before it was And and and all and by the end you know. We're talking about things things here. That was see that if you had told me what an August that this would happen. I would say that's impossible. And yet he made it look so easy in these games that it certainly didn't impossible while you're watching it. It just seemed like Oh okay yet. Another game where the other defense. DB's can't stop these receivers and boroughs making all the right. Throws Rose is interesting. I spent a lot of the three days down here in New Orleans in the inside with Lsu and a lot of meetings in which just comes back to his hey we got number benign. It was like in there is talking about like any. NFL personnel person. Or anything like that but then there is Joe. Bureau was so much better than any other quarterback in the country because of how he operated this system are poised is how accurate. How great he is off script when the defense does something I don't know why feel compelled to touch on this but you know obviously you have this back and forth over the last. Probably Five Years About Cam Newton where he was the one thing I would. I'd say Cam Newton had nobody around him. You know the the only thing close to him as an NFL prospects even remotely was fairly on the other side of the ball. Joe Borough Roll. Had Mortiz went wild last night he actually had three drop passes well. Aj Terrell is considered to be a really good cornerback and and the poor guy gave up to fifty plus yard catches to chase in the first half. They eventually had to switch to a new to trying trying different DB On him. Well Oh I think what you were saying. I totally grew the greatest Offensive seem season. We've seen from a from a college quarterback but I would ask you this and haven't done enough research on it. You know their body work as a team matches up with anybody right and they. We beaten some some really good teams by double digits now to me and I I would argue that the Miami Ed Reed that team as the most talented team. The what I do think is like this team hasn't loaded with the level of. I think ridiculously future hall of fame kind of pro bowl guys. I mean we'll see I mean. Obviously the gap between Kendra. She was a really good quarterback and Joe Arrow is significant. But I would ask ask you. Is this the greatest offense you've ever seen in college yes. This was the greatest offense in college football. I was thinking trying to think of comparisons and to to to what you said. We've seen a lot of great offenses that like for instance. The chip Kelly Oregon offenses that took college football by storm in time. Seemed unstoppable. Darren Thomas was the quarterback right. It wasn't a guy who's going to be the number one pick in the draft maybe think about some of these Oklahoma offenses recently. Certainly certainly the ones with Baker Mayfield Cuyler Murray season those offenses were prolific. But in both cases they eventually ran into a team that was more talented than them and was able to at least neutralize it. Lsu I think an an order on his set it and I think it's true what we saw. This season was just the perfect storm and the perfect combination of the quarterback. The offense that job Brady brought in the play calling reis even Zinger and just this insane set of receivers and also Clyde. You know who you're right about. Oh my gosh. That guy is unbelievable. A tackle them last night. Just every everything that needed to lineup lined up. I think it was the thing that you know not to go too. Big on Clyde there because the numbers aren't like Numbers but I think the element of having thing like it is the pick your poison where somebody's going to go all right. We gotTA worry about twenty two more and then also the one who won the won the Belichick off award you know. He was considered the greatest receiver. ALGEBRA's true sophomore. I think it was like and then that gets to touchdown. That was the kind of flurry that I think that they're just capable capable of and I I don't want him to bring up Ohio state. I was like it did not feel to me as impressive. This clemson was last year. is the president. We thought they were Dabo. Sweeney talking about the lack of respect. If all season to me there was no doubt who is the better team after watching that it last

LSU Clemson Cam Newton Joe Borough Ohio New Orleans NFL Oklahoma Cam Cam Brent Venables Clyde Seon Beyon Vince Ari Wasserman Alabama Joe Jonesboro Bruce
