"I mean he might. He might be playing very good tennis. But i'm most interested to see about him. Is how the crowd reacts to him. Because this is the time we're could see him sits The toilet break drama of the. And i want to know if the fans in in the states whether they're going to remember that and how the and if they do how they react to it. Exactly i mean is quite quite true but i mean i teach edwin fill that it sits passable a. n. of in this section. I'm here if you know. Pc wants to go through and be the man. I'm i'm down. I've rather enjoy that. So yeah let's let's row without joe. Shall we make some predictions for the men's draw. Shall we just everything we've just been saying for the last ten minutes make guesses. My guess is on. I guess is all you wish i wish i could be a bit more waldo. The women's side. But i think for the men's side. I'm still i'm still in that top path. Flicking medvedev medvedev route. I've got medvedeva now. I just think he's gonna be riding on a wave of your confidence. And i think he's going to revel in in being the top seed Here i know we we've seen for example dominate team. Looking back what he won his first grand slam. He won his first grand slam in new york. And since then it's not really in the aftermath. It it didn't radi workout for him. And if he lost the as motivation or you oversee had some injury setbacks as well and the you know the lockdown as well he wasn't able to us or come cope with as i think this changes from the panel. I certainly think that medvedev in is laid back style is so of more acclimatizing accustomed. I think t- just kind of taking it all in all in his all in his stride and he's been there or thereabouts few seasons now and i think that he's going to revel in this kind of top-seed billing novak djokovic is going to be spotlight on him and i think he's gonna kinda thrive in that environment so. I certainly see him getting to the semi finals and again. I'm gonna. I'm gonna put him up against casper. Who i think is one of those places just another in very very good full very very good nick and expecting him to translate that for me sharing the hundred to fifty to fifty level in in san diego. I'm expecting him to bring now to the table at the mosses applicant and on. I'm expecting to reach out to reach his. Why would think his his semi place first semifinal at a master's level i think he's had some claycourt masters as joe but not seventy eight his first hardcourt semi yeah. I've gotten similar. I've got medvedev. But i've actually andre. Because i feel like people are dismissing him slightly and forgetting about forgetting about him. But you know the onus is is overreach you know he's the man will so i'm going to say i'm gonna go with the seedings for that ball for that paul. And then for the bottom half i'm going very much With sasha zverev. And i'm not going sit spots i'm gonna gave faa to make the semifinals. Any reason thinks the and booed out the building. And he's going to feel ready saad and it's not going to be able to perform. I still not sure where he is. Where his head space are like on paper. That's a very easy draw. And he should be able to run through it. But i feel like faa hasn't done an awful lot at master series but perhaps this is the time and again. He's got a decent enough. George come through that section. As well. And i think the last time he played yet oversee the law. So i'm He sits bus was at indian wells. He did. He did lose. Faa she sipped did pups it. Be a repeat event yup off. Yup i mean for me. I i i. I respect your your opinions. Kim but i don't i just i don't see it and i'm i'm gonna guy with I just think. I just think that he i think he just believes i think he's he's done very consistently this year at the moss. Moss's obviously one one in monte carlo about dropping and yeah i i certainly expect him reach the semifinals. So i'm going to back. System passes the number two seed however not third quarter. I've gone a bit robotic and of gone with galman fees Oh i've got a sister. Pass semi final. I think bone face is just gonna love having the crowds. And he's showing that he's been in good full he's got lorenzo's songo Potentially in his in section and then he could come up against outcries zverev or may be andy murray and i think that he i think he's reenergized towards the back end of the season and i certainly think that that will kind of help him him kind of carry three win even though he might be tied at times i think he just finds it another uh finds another level and i think it's time for time for him to show us the new. He's he's back. Say yeah i if may feel a bit foolhardy Guile fees To get to a a seventy five a bosses which property hasn't happened a long time. Now that is a long time coming. Okay say he's your champion joe. I'm gonna gay full medvedev's verify verify winning ooh interesting. I'm not akimoto even getting to the semi finals. I just think he's just don't show state they see. I get knocked out by techy. Alcatraz you know in his section. But i set my final. I have got medvedev. Cisa pass on a bit bland and of going for the top seeds making the final. I call an icon icon. See how consi how. It isn't the moment kind of going into the tournament. And i certainly think medvedev as gonna put a lot of pressure i think on on novak djokovic that number one ranking spot and i think he's gonna take the trophy despite his fulham and his his record hit not being that great. I think the fact that we haven't had this woman in two years. I think is going to be able to get a naval him to love these i think have kind of fresh mindset fresh approach. You know look at this tournament with a blank slate and i think medvedev will want to kind of show post. Usa puddin. yes. I i want my first grand slam. I think he'll want of his authority in and carry that old. And i think the best way he can do that will be by winning this trophy. Well we shall see if you are correct. Joe and we revealed have the next week. Say let's take a quick break now but to join us in the second half where we having a look at the women's draw at indian wells including amoretti kony's potentially perilous path to the final. And where the carolina pushback can live up to her top seed billing so do not go anywhere This is the pulsing shot of jolan. Kim supported by download. Tennis.

And i believe jodi. It's mitre and cuisine and the listeners. Atr another rendition of mysterious player ceo. You ready. we haven't had had a mysterious firewall. No i'm sort of nervous given how hard i made it for you last week with that fiendish labor cup questions unnerves you gonna make this really difficult for me. I think this is quite a doable achievable one. I'm just wondering if i've done this before by half. Or if i have it's it's been walk. Say otherwise i'm just like obsessed with this player anyway clean number one day i was born on the twenty sixth of gene nineteen ninety eight in case eighteen. Twenty three twenty four Xiaomei manar not say very good shout. it's not. Maybe not. I was thinking about doing him. But it's not say she'll give you another clay. Okay i am a left handed tennis player and i play with a two handed backhand. Oh okay said that narrows down the lefties I'm still thinking spanish players. "This This whole year in fact is didn't alcohol in the wheelchair quotes because he did what djokovic could not do and was one the golden slam say he's one of the slams are knee the paralympics Which is amazing Really really fantastic. Achievement he is so of unheralded. isn't he In the school. And i love the fact that ye particularly joel pleased with his celebration in trophy ceremony at the end of that finally today yes he. I think his biggest achievement was they panted jerry. The beds fido and he put in his trae fee and so that was a great house. I get to see that old grade. He was celebrating his way. That was his dead fish equivalent. I guess he's dead fish equivalent but yeah as great to see and again. It's not it's just not an easy thing to do and to go in the next commission point on it and get the olympic gold as well for dylan alcohol. He is a in absolute trailblazer. I think for the sport for particularly for paralympic tennis as well. It's just an incredible. Even in fact he's got that. I think that approach buddhist the accessibility that they could cite down applied within twenty three thousand people around him. He was just yeah. He was just badly badly celebrating. What was Yeah a very very cellular for him absolutely and unfortunately we also had our hear it in the final off the wheelchair singles mental just singles. No unfortunate that he was in the final but he did lease at dishing gay. Kaneda's say but alfie and gordon. Who have done the The double ceos will get onto that and a bit later but some yeah fantastic that he made the final again. Let's just take a quick break now but join us in the second half. We'll be looking back on all the results from zastava including got ladies singles final between murad khani and layla fernandez who do not go anywhere. This is the policy shot to have jolan. Kim supported by download tennis dot com. And now we're gonna move on to look back at saturday night. Which saw a ladies final between two teenagers. Makoni qualifier and layla fernandez. Who has well. It's fair to say it's kind of captivated the whole of the uk. And i remember in my lifetime following this sport quite an occasion so of like this and to have a british female grand slam. Singles champion is something that i never thought we would get to see. It is kip there so everybody stories overrode into what i think with everybody. Kaddish drop to set. She's come for qualifying the fact that she's a british singles champion as well which hasn't happened in forty plus years Since virginia way. So it's been truly remarkable and i think before we kind of get into talking about the match. I think what was great about it was as he said. It was a sense of occasion and i think what really helped build. That sense of occasion was yes. It was on saturday night. And everyone i think was collaborating. T have a tv Did it was great. I think to see in the uk particularly that it was on free to air and that was a deal between channel amazon prime and as a result of that it just think catches everyone's imagination and it really raised the profile. I think for for british tennis. This was a very very big moment this moment. I think that we've exclusively been talking about in terms of andy murray for the last decade decade plus but the emirati candy eighteen years old teenager has arrived on the scene and has done the almost the unspeakable really to guy from qualifying round one to us open. Singles champion has been a story that has been so.

"Mcgrath was was not pleased. But i see both sides. I think that's the thing i think. With this example you can see both sides are don't think this is a like for like comparison to stephanos pass. Because you could see on the you could see on the core that she just wasn't with it the way she described ottawa's she said. I started to feel dizzy and the whole world was shaking. It never had happened to me before and it did. Give me actually flashbacks to I felt like i. M radhi. Candy was sort of experiencing at wimbledon against against ianovich. But maybe this played out actually own on the tennis court but yeah it will it. You could tell that she was in a good state. She needed She needed some help. It was unfortunate. I think that it needed to come You know Five four down You know. I i d i certainly think that did sort of stopped the muga ruth momentum a little bit and you know if it was may again i can understand why mcgriff was frustrated because i would have felt that it would have been more appropriate or if i had to meal if i wanted to show maybe the ultimate sportsmanship then i could have got it done. I know i could have had that. The the end of the set so i can. I can sort of see both sides to the to the argument. But as he said i think Reuther it's it's just making sure and i. It seems a. It seems to be something that i think. A lot of culminate. You're talking about load of women's peasant just not a men's places. They're just not ready to to handle this slide. Others stopped my momentum. And i don't know what to do about it and again. I think it's something that these players need to address. If they are going to is is part of the game and yes mcgrew for will be annoyed yourself not winning that tiebreak. I mean she had enough chances to So whether she's maybe using. This is a little bit of an excuse. Because i think that she had she had to take it to a third and i think she knows if she had taken it to third it was it was beyond haracic given the the physical the physical well-being critique for Had found herself in. Yeah so you've got if you think. Your is clearly struggling. Eagles play in a very clever way. So you can make the most of our and it's often we see either. She gets into the head of the opponent because they sort of thing. Oh you know someone with a show that they clearly injured or whatever then. They just actually doesn't really help them. Say yeah i mean will say. I think claims that mugabe who was being coach during the match perhaps say day. That was perhaps say if if controversy say perhaps both both some tactics going on who knows. It was very interesting. I think that was the oversee. The big flashpoint in the big talking point of the match. And i think you could sense with mugabe rooted. The she knew that she was she was able to full. Stop thought sat then. Maybe we would be talking about mcgary thir- in the quarter-finals but it'll be interesting to see how critique afo recovers and comes out in a quarterfinal whether this thing will happen again whether there's some way that she's able to combat it i don't know but yeah i mean the only other question i had came on this was was it worthy of a medical out in the first place because it wasn't necessarily an an injury i would say and it felt more of a you know. This is a conditioning thing. And if it's a conditioning thing about your body then that for me comes down to kind of you know. He's the kind of survival of the fittest and that. I don't think warrants a medical timeout and i don't know if there's a you know an argument to say that it wasn't appropriate for her to have a medical timeout. I know obviously you see the the The tv you see on the tv and you like absolutely she. She needs one. But i think there will be some. Maybe a minority of people out there minority fans out there. He will think that if if the mcgary three is making a has forced into this situation because she has come back from four love down then that song that's on critique and that arguably shouldn't result in getting a a trainer core. Yeah well. I read it more. If you'll kind of struggling with breathing and feeding a busy that it would be more of an exiled. He related thing rather than conditioning. like that she's not fitting off. I i just assumed it was more of a feeling the stress and anxiety of the situation. And that's why she felt like that. So you think is necessary. She's not face it off. I think it's more mental health side of thing. I that's how i interpreted it. Listers what do you think. 'cause i do. I do wonder whether plays maybe struggled to. We're seeing think more of these situations. We saw this with manning it when i do wonder whether players have less maybe or or less familiar have less acceptance for these sorts of situations that investors say an injury where it's maybe more bright pray feels like at the moment we get seeing a little bit more of these situations and play is on really sure how to react to them whether they're know it's appropriate to get a trainer on for example. Yeah i know. It's it's i think the judge lie you can't have so of arbitrary guards. I think you've just got to give the players the benefit of doubt because if there was a rule and apply didn't get help and then something serious happened. You just wouldn't be. The situation became mcgrath. A was not giving critique of a the the element of doubt that because the the net the that was dull. i local On on the camera with for saying thank you. I'm sorry but mugabe ruth replying. That is so unprofessional. What d- what do you. What do you make of that or do you think grief. It was right to kind of call it out on the call. It definitely was. It wasn't the. It was the nicest. I think of all the warmest of handshakes we see this have. Nay maybe she s she lost respect for critique like andy murray lost respect for. It's us your i mean. If you're going to say it's probably going to be in the heat of the moment. Isn't that the handshake And i guess it raises a about like like we're doing now say But yeah it'd be interesting to see what the listeners maybe think about. You know who they side. We've on this. Unit was meagre the writer to say something at the nets. But yeah not night joe. Let's have a quick break before we go andrew crowd with men's tennis from today safer and yesterday so do join us in second half. This is pausing jolan. Kim.

"Yeah and like phone. If i think i said this in our pre she's an seeded anymore she's catholic keno in the second round you know. They both won their first round but like she's not someone that you want to play this early in a slam like she's the olympic silver medallist. So yeah it's it's not nice is it and We had another pretty tight match shot with gabino mugabe's against don't advocate we don't avec edge is not somebody wanna play really festivus lab. She's such a fighter has been to the quarterfinals hip at. She liked quite recently about two years ago so they susan very tough rounder fool. She came through in two tiebreak sets but she was. Yeah a breakdown. In that first sets beckett kinda staged a comeback in the second set so it was really hard for quite quite lengthy match and Mugabe's etching it in the end. but like you know. I haven't really predicted her for this tournament. And i didn't realize i didn't have a particular reason for that but perhaps subconsciously i ne- that she she doesn't have a good record here. Does she know beyond the fourth round. No i know that that was that. Was that surprised me. When i was reading my kind of preview nights full for this matchup. She's one single round sixteen appearance in two thousand seventeen which is a career-best performance hair. And you look at is game east. Feel that it's it's well suited. I mean she's is well suited to yoenis across all of the services. But it definitely feels like she needs to make your. She needs to do better than that she is. She is a better quality player than you know. One solitary round of sixteen showing. And who knows maybe is this year and maybe she needed a an opponent of the quality of donna vacuum in round one to get get going because that was a really really tough match mean beckett. Yes she's like around. Kind of in the fifties i think in terms of ranking. But she's been top twenty. Us open quarterfinalist. The i think actually was a very good start for moog russa and the fact that she was able to get it done into. I think you'll be very pleasantly pleased with that. Yeah and potentially still on for third round with ethics story as a rancor if they both through their next matches. I was happy. Yes because that's your t cut chief favorites as if they were to mate but we also had ballot back and winning which is nice to say. She also had a very much shop with Camila giorgi who oversee very recently won the biggest title of acura and has been awesome fool. I mean that's a real tough first round for george as well because she would oversee been hoping to make a bit of a robin. Perhaps you know a few wins under about hair but you scallop kind of pushing her passing away. Six four seven six straight sets in the end for help so big big sigh of relief. For i think love serena haluk vans with him and we also had sabah lenka the second seed come through little bit of wobble in that second set. She lost the the second set on a tie-break Came absolutely storming back in one third sat in a bagel against the serb nina. Stoyaanovich says she wants six four six seven six love. We also had respect about as rancor she Martine cover off the czech republic six four six love and then we had cub as well. Another grand slam champion She was up against diana estremadura. And i knew kim though is going to be your strengths. Get antics in this match. And they nearly pay dividends for her. She was five free up in the feds sat and it was looking like one of our collective set picks was was going to go out early but cupboard kind of stormed back and she was able to win a final tiebreak so very good very good win their full cuppa. And yet you wouldn't be. It wouldn't be a surprise to tell you came. I'm pretty sure you stumps kahad an eight-minute Eight-minute toilet break. Sorry bothering break as part of a matches well got she. She should get on the fame with sits per they have recession. I think surpasses is speaking to his dad when he's she's probably speaking to Strep gift for all of the keiichi. Dips quite possibly. I mean another player. That i remember doing coil of leap breaks was critique of a and i mean cheat. She won her much quite company. But i think in that for the french and Remember she took a long one out of the second set and people were again. There was a bit about that i mean. I think the most epic window yesterday on the women's side was melies mertens though joe because she beats rebecca peterson sweden saving six match. Buoyed three six seven six seven six Really tough battle. I think it was three hours and forty minutes which is going to be one of the longest women's matches we've seen at the I mean pizza and will be kind of kicking us off. I think she served a full one of much points. It was very very close but martin's how on and did what she needs today. Right the end. I thought came. We were gonna get a moment where elise mertens wasn't gonna reach the brown four of grand stab for the i. I will see feels like the fast side. Because she's such a consistent before and the idea of lee's birthday getting out in round one grant saab at just does no. It just does not compute. I feel like with the that new. She is player of. She's a player modal. I think consistency. Maybe not necessarily getting to semifinal or a final but certainly to the round of sixteen or even a quantify no siwan yet if she was she was very about to bring battle maybe peace and was going to be able to do it but you know credit to to matins for coming through that because that was a tough match and again i watched the the final the final point to see the relief. I think that martin showed off to coming through that you could tell that she was. She was in a battle and it will be fascinating to see how she can prepare or if she can prepare for next match because because of the time she spent on coal. Yeah because it's very ho- conditions. It's not easy. Say it's not really conditions you wanna be having almost four hours matching but we'll see how she gets sold either. Let's just take a quick break now. I will be back in the second half to look back on. Today's action so far from day to do not go anywhere is the passing shots. We've jolan kim supported by download. Tennis dot com. And now we're going to move on t- today's action safe jo..

"So it's come back onto the tour and be back. Doing press conferences is. Surely it's obvious someone would also onboard. But yeah i feel like she's she's not ready yet. She seems quite fragile. And perhaps now we've got this question. How the way like it will be fine going forwards but it's a shame. It was really uncomfortable to watch. I have to say it was a night to see another. I want to see. If that's what's going to happen again which. I don't think anyone wants then. Don't give this or denver in the spotlight at the the moment. Wait until wait until she's ready You know. I think just focusing back on the tennis because i think is quite clear to see whether soccer in the way. She's paying at the moment. She needs match practice You know she's not played a lot of tennis because of the situation that she's been in. Yes she the olympics. She didn't play the rogers cup. She came back here. You know she did have a good win. I think against golf but to lease to jill. Titans she's not had a load of practicing going into going into flushing meadow the usa burden. I'm she's not going to be playing next week. So we know. She's good at capable when a in her locker and i think that will be kind of questions of catch. Is she going to be able to discover that fuhrman in new york. Maybe probably play hawaii into into the tournament. Because i didn't feel like it's not a national party situation where she's going to be going in kind of full of confidence. We know how she has been on on hardcourts particularly on hot slams over the last few seasons but they're still feels like this a lot of what to do there and maybe arguably the moment these press conferences are a little bit of a distraction. Yeah and. I'm just thinking lois jane. We had zero crowds at the usa whereas this is going to be very different. It's going to be too loud boisterous stadiums and perhaps if she's feeling fragile still that's going to be the best thing for her. I mean naomi. Uncle is i think very different namias awkward press conference and like you said. She's a fulltime times som- champion so i don't did i tell you i. I don't doubt that she could pull out the bag and we could see a very different all quebec. I have a lot less confidence compared to say this time last year. So yeah we'll see how it progresses with her at her in the media but let's just round up joel some of the other kind of stories from this week on the dossier tool because we had an event in chicago a one t five event which was very exciting for british fans because we had emirati new in action and she only just lost out in the final today against car tools and it was six four in the third set ama- lost but she's had an absolutely remarkable week coming through against much. I ranked players and and just getting the wins inconsistency and getting to a file of wfan is fantastic is very very promising stuff particularly you know she was paying inlanders villas well. last week. she retired from there. I think quite few places because it was really brutal conditions but to see it bounce back play this event take out the top seed. Alison van bank in. The first round was very very impressive. That opponent is a very solid tool player. would expect to see in of two fifty level Events and the way the manager she took her out was very impressive and then she went all the way through to the final. I know she probably would have been disappointed. She was i think a break up in an in not third set but it is really really encouraging to see how well i think she is acclimatizing to all of this to the spotlight is being put on her. I'm hoping she's going to get some mobile cards into potentially kind of two fifty. I think she's now into the top one hundred fifty. She's there will thereabouts around. harriet doll. Say yeah fi. Those pay his consults spare each other on and go higher up the rankings. But came i would not be surprised if by the end of the season. Radical new is is there or thereabouts around a hundred if not even breaking into the top one hundred. That would be amazing. Yeah she certainly going in the right direction. They still good couple of months of the season. Laugh so praying praying. She stays fin healthy. I think not certainly achievable But yeah okay. We're gonna take a quick break now. Everyone but do join us in the second half. We're gonna be talking about team and rougher ending their seasons early The picks fourteen year and team world in this year's labor up and also looking ahead to the final round of tournaments before the us open including winston. Salem and chicago say do not go anywhere. This is the passing shop with jolan. Kim supported by down tennis dot com. And now we're going to be on t. The second half of the show which as usual means funding games to begin with. And i've got a mysterious player up my sleeve for you. Joe here we go and for our listeners. He will hopefully be playing along as well. So are you ready. Joe to to commence the mystery yes because a lot last mysterious play. We had was kristina mladenovic now cape just just before we get onto that because i when i was doing my research on chill tight man. I loved on her wikipedia. Page it said. Jill heitmann speaks five languages. Only five no. Yeah well that's nothing. That's nothing competitive with it was. It was so funny because in the final today. She said she said come on in about four different languages said in french german. She said in english it was just she was just really saw Yeah she was really showing off her. The number of languages. Which which may be think i will not denver it. You want to see how many different times with different ways he can say. Come on in one match. I think that would be hilarious for every point. And then you'd have to well. I mean yeah. How many languages are you get through a whole match race at a different come. I'm expecting twenty six different commands next damage place. I don't think i could do that. And more than like three languages. But anyway i will. Maybe i'll include language clearly for today's serious. Let's start with the date of birth..

"And i wouldn't be surprised if that continues but i think the lesson here is an is for you know suppliers i think for daniel collins and probably one of the reasons why she's not been able to be as consistent as maybe she would have been like over. The last few seasons is just. Don't let it get on top of you. Don't let don't lose your focus and don't get distracted by them and don't look for 'cause i'll be people out there you're saying you know. Maybe she was looking for excuses when she lost that. Second set looking copying like you made me lose the second set how to end the bag so you know. I think that's kind of maybe lessons to be learned that but yet she is on a she is on a hot streak at the moment and yes some of the players. She's been beating not not necessarily that highly ranked but to do it across. Clay in a hardcore is very very very very impressive. Yeah and good good winners. Good week as well for kina because the final of the year so definitely she had a few dokie seasons but she's on highway back to kind of paps why she was about four well three years ago now. She's also been quite apron about the fact. She's working with the sports psychologist. She kind of relates to ball. Selena says she's made some really positive changes so we'll come coming to fruition so really positive week for her. I think Calling she's back in the top thirty now so she'll be seated usa imagine An something drastic happens in the next few weeks but she and kazakina both of a similar kind of ranking at the moment. But i'm kind of people you kind of to play because bay in very good form in the moment on we also had morad county from bush's perspective go given a wild card to play. She lost in the first round to jiang six three six. Two who then went into count. Madison ks so You know of course it would be great if you could have picked up a a. Wti taught level win I'm sure that was a great experience for. I've actually just seem to think she's paying a w one hundred in landfill and she's just come through qualifying this i. She's not sort of resting on our laurels and she's came. I think just kind of continue the tennis. And i think yeah playing a match up a wj. Five hundred devils is gonna be mean ed. You must've just so good to just kind of get back out in the cool and we'll see if he she can pick up some more wins maybe a bit down in the tournament ranking but some yet good stuff to see value county on the on the big stage absolutely and we also had the windows apron in romania which was we had a winner zaven which was andrea petkevich was the winner six hundred and six hundred and she was very against my sharieff in the i know she hasn't won to eight about six years so this was her seventh. Try to a rule but it's been a long long time. Said she got into this. She said lifted a a title. And i think she. She's been saying that a loss happened. Did they say shares of almost tired. Well i think she kinda technically did retire for an but now she's kind of putting together a fee weight and she. She was runner up in hamburg. Las mam for a now champion the winners abyan say really nice Petco fans and the you know you got to the petco darn well. She liked to say. Yeah i mean. I mean it was a great a great victory and talking about collins. Petkevich is probably one of the opposite. Plays tubs of. She's so like. I think by fans and players on the tour and you just can't help but be happy for given the you know particularly i think with the injury struggles that she's gone through the last few seasons and yeah. She's entering the twilight. If a crash i think she's what thirty three thirty four now so it was really great. I think to see her. Come through and win and say commanding me as well. I mean six one six one. Yes it was on the kind of the clay against maya sharieff I wanted whether sharieff was she. She felt the press shirow history potentially but on her because she was in a final Fingers i ever final and she could become the first egyptian To win a w talks that hampered her a little bit but yeah pack vich was really really impressive. Yes sharieff making history because although she kinda go in the final and she is now into the top hundred and she also reached the doubles final. So maybe she was tied as well paying cooperative. Tennis is weak but yeah fantastic four for a and yeah i mean i. I have say. I really enjoyed this event for the imaginative title and i do. We get more winners from winners apron going forward because that was pretty cool. Also i think petkevich. She's wanting coffee. Titles now but you spin around for a while. so i think I saw on twitter. That she's basically won a title in kind of each of the last three decades. Don't usually say quite. She's being around on the tool for a long time and it's nice isn't it wasn't pays can kind of weight off to such a long gap at kipp. This tournament was included in romania. And don't worry. You're going to have to wait long for another tournament to be included. Because i think today who say they announced. There's going to be another w ta to fifty include in an indoor on a on an indoor hardcourt. Say maybe we'll have a win is open indoor indoor version later on literally season. I cannot wait wait right. Let's have a quick break now but do join us in the second half where we'll be talking about russia federer on his latest injury setback. Semaine helps returned in montreal and also dano medvedev's top seed billing in toronto say do not go anywhere. This is the passing shot with jolan. Kim.

"Bit gutted that she wasn't even able to kind of be able to compete for a medal. Yeah i think when she was part of nave actually muscled. Christmas has come early. Kind of i guess. The the downside of that is the novak. He's going to prioritize. Suppose his his body and his chances at the calendar grand slam and then potentially play if push came shaaban. And that's what happens. Say i'm ashamed for her. Yeah nice fash balti. On joan pays they managed to get the metal but yeah i'm sure they would rather she had play play for it but yes is kind of the roundup of the olympics. Twenty twenty three years to wait till till the next one not to at twenty twenty one by. It's bizarre as competing time place. Where only three years until We could get to face all is aboard a big action. Exactly let's take a quick break now but d- join us in the second half where we'll be looking at casper route three pete in kits boo at the potential return of the hopman cup and also looking at reference return in washington. Dc so do not go anywhere. This is the pausing shot with jolan. Kim supported by download. Tennis dot com. And now we're going to move on to. I think part of the courts is that right. Joe alid full. I have while you're away. Sunday yourself on the south coast of britain of so scheming. My next paul for the courts for you. Okay it's olympic themed again because we lost. I'm always looking ahead to the usa. Shops it's olympic. Themed it's big three teams so there's a little bit rough element here. So you might. You might quite like it. But i do think it is a tough one. I can give you the topic and we're gonna support school for it. Say you ready ready for this topic on then. yep so. the topic is and the reason. I'm saying this is because john is no one the atlanta open and i didn't realize that was a sixth time. He has won that event. Which is crazy given. I'll be really impressive to win the tournament six times but my topic came is tournaments on the toll that the big three have won six or more times and between nadal federa. An joke vich that all ten events that between them they have won six or more times. And i'm going to be. I'm going to be nice. Young to give. I'm gonna give you the breakdown. Nidal has won three events six or more times. Federa has won five events six or more times and jovic has won two events six or more times. So that's ten that's ten total. I'm gonna. I think this is quite hard. I feel you probably will get one hundred percent of the rafeh ones. But i'm going to set the pass score. I'm going to be quite generous. I'm going to be set at fifty percent. Some say five. Give me five tournaments between the big three that they've won six or more times you've chew will have par for the course. Does this include grand slams was it solely atp tool this is solely the ata tour so north including grand. Okay ooh yeah. I think our school. I think i can get a cost school. Possibly one more not let. Let's begin then. Okay say rafeh correct. Yes correct bought selena correct. Yes ball selena and rhyme. Yes correct yes. That's yep say yet. Selena was twelve. monte-carlo was lebanon. Very ten roger. Federal would be thaw bal basel. Basel ball sounds wade. How do i say basel. Basel is correct. Yes us four so one more. Oh i think well federal has won more than six times inhaler right. That's kind of his upper sangala. Hello yeah correct. Yes if achieved yes jala jala basel all his talk to you actually. So yeah well done came you. You have achieved puff. Maybe maybe a little bit too generous there bob show. You're going to try and give me some more for federal jackovitch she to try and turn ace. It gone above and beyond a well. It's six and more. I mean s talk which one six eighty finals. I feel like oh federal has i think it's at the. Atp finals will be on maffei for either one of them. I'm sure which which i can say. No no go find. Federer has once we suggest this. He's one six two finals So yeah ma ma. Miami has Rich go six. Miami's yes very good. Yes you're six. Miami moss's crowns say yet Say there's this three more if you can if you can get them to federal ones in one joke of each one. What else does joke of its g. I mean. I know you wanna of masters but i would say like cups or cincinnati. Cincinnati could yovich no so cetera has seven cincinnati kreil. Wow okay On the final two he had federal has eight dubai crowns. Okay and the joke of each one. Which i thought was going to be very difficult. I'll be very impressive of our listeners. He's also got six beijing crowns. Yeah i was cleaning out cleaning up those think. What five hundred where. They probably got larger periods just tied up in win. Yes so you'd go beijing. A miami jovic the tofino cincinnati to buy jala and basel for federal and then very monte carlo and barcelona for nadal i always feel sorry for cincinnati because i think it's the mall series. That has the least so of coudl or like pizzazz around it it. I know it's pre years. But i just i never feel like the excited about compared to i guess the klay ones but maybe that's because i'm around fan. I mean yeah it's a it's a tricky one is they'll be interesting to see who goes to it. It's such a. it's such a fast event. And i think that's probably why federal done so well there in the past but it's because it is a farce it doesn't i don't think it is one that is helpful particularly compared to light toronto specifically. I think for this year when it comes to like that builds up for the us open. I think there might be a quite few plays. You might skip cincinnati but we'll have to. We'll have to wait and see. But yeah. I know exactly what you mean anyway joe. We've got a really good mail back question. Which is looking talker. Stupa was and this is from lisa. Go in touch by email. Said hi guys simple question for you. I would like to know who is winning the gold in paris. Twenty twenty four on the clay roane garris for the men and women say whipping also to predict. joe next. I shave is definitely going to be Would say i mean who you going forward thinking. Free time mckree. He's going to be dominating. Yeah i i i'm interested. Use raff is gonna be there I've i've gone. Maybe but maybe in the moment called casper rude as your gold medal singles beds champion and of course simona halley as the ladies singles champion Just read is going to be just very very good and he decided not probably skip the olympics. This time around but i think given his clay foreman why he'll be.

Yes sacree that is eight. Oh my god you just blitzed it. Yes you have achieved. Paul for the courts well done came by you know you have now also said that you think you could do one hundred percent so i am fully expecting you to get the the i four at the australian open which probably the maybe the toughest ones. I feel like there are people out there still bitter about that macabre loss because yes she was at one for. Everyone felt that she baby got to the little widow. Jim brady bill just didn't materialize. It was not to be but yeah good. One joe stephanie. Cemented that knowledge my head's so i enjoyed Testing themselves as well We've got a co well mayo question from liam. He got in touch with us on twitter. So thanks very much. 'em he said. Hi jolan kim loved the shea at my question is if you professional tennis players on were offered the opportunity to gave the olympics this year which you obviously very topical players on thank various reasons. What about you joe. what do you think. oh yes so. I may be controversial. Maybe not i would not go. I would not go to tokyo. I just think the situation is just too mad at the moment. It's possibly from just kind of hearing it in the news. It doesn't feel that situation is is under control You know we're hearing stories of already in the olympic village of people testing positive. And we know that's going to be restrictions. I mean can catch it that the the the The village the patriots are not very till which i feel like it would be. It would be nice if i thought you read. Then joe saying powered hot show sacked so clearly. I wouldn't gay autodial with the slightly smaller slightly smaller athletes. But yeah. I just feel like seriously. Yeah just think the situation is therefore you know. I'd rather i would the focus on the usa. Putin hardcourts stick him. What stick and stay in one country and just maybe just do that will. Maybe maybe have a quick quick quick quick play to toronto for the moss in in canada. But yeah i'm just just not sure any of the time when the situation is under control hype fees is not even talking point then absolutely yes. I would want to represent my country. I think for this one. It's it's a no for me kim. I suppose it depends on what you like. Value the olympics as a cause for tennis. It's not the bill. And then dole is unlike other sports. So i think if you're chasing a grandson toys who you know i think. Us apron should be prioritized. But if you'll maybe someone who's probably unlikely to ever win aground you'd be like i'm going to catch the olympics because that's a bit more unique for this one year but also i'm a short person so i mind the size of the so. Are you a guy guy. I was gay. I'm anti-social and short anyway. So i need to help us pump and circumstance and to ceiling so there we go but talking about the olympics there have been a number of names have pulled out. Obviously we already know. Neither wasn't going. Federal also announces withdraw twin knee injury. Like a that. He suffered during wimbledon. Serena's no playing at dominic teams not playing shop. Avello on rescue hallett cannon rule out some fame athena out through injury robbins of just making the olympics. But we do have some players there. I mean they've jovovich has confirmed because you know there were a debate about whether he would will not go but oversee he wants the golden slam say he will. He will be there barring a positive test. Which do seem to be happening koi celo like you said. It's funny because we we were speaking the foul. You know the the golden slam. Is it possible. We just seemed i think the jock rituals skinny go after it and it wasn't really much of a debate. I think after that women final if if he would play the olympics but he was you know he. I think he rated himself at fifty fifty at the time. But you know he's probably saying that. This is a big opportunity. Given the fact that a lot of players aren't going to be that yes there are still going to be her does medvedev cisa pass re bluff are going to be the The fact that also this is going to be is best of three up to the final which is best to five again might might go against him compared to kind of grandmoms where it specified all the time. He's also go to physically great record at the olympics. So you know it's not necessarily kind of given. I think tokyo will be happy. At least there is one real big stall particularly on the inside. I think the is going to be that because if if jackovitch had decided you know. This isn't for me it really would have. I think i think consolidated a position. The think is being talked about at the moment in terms of does the olympics so of rank fit for tennis players. Will it just generally in the scheme of tennis and for a lot of people. It's just a you know they'd rather chase grandson titles than olympic medals. Yeah furlough people. It's just a nice little extras into. And i mean i i i i understand that point of view means some people probably think you shouldn't even be in the olympics tool say that's different arguments isn't there. "I guess foam on central You know in a in a few weeks time. But i mean with djokovic fell nineteen federal dollars twenty if it is a matter of time you feel like it could happen the season. Well yeah if he wins. The next tea slams. He's on twenty one isn't he say. I think that's quite likely oversee rough out. I'd rather didn't happen this year. I think i'd like to extend it a little bit. It's quite noise helping rougher in the joint lead the movement. But i mean there will fantastic players. They they were great in their own way. You know yes. It's kind of someone's going to oversee end up with with more than the other but perhaps we shouldn't be so competitive about it. You know we will fans of individual players for different reasons and you just take away. Anything from the other is if someone else kind of at the final hurdle. But i think the question is how many would evacuate could get. I mean dare. I say could he. Could you get like thirty. Always on being ridiculous he still as and i think yeah. I guess one nation to this argument. I feel like we never really keep talk about what we have grandson winners from the big three as the fact that of has done this now twice every grandson which is something federal in the dow. Both haven't done Fetters anyone one french open. I think the dow's anyone one australian open so again. There's that is going to be something. Potentially i'll know out novak djokovic fans are going to be looking at and saying this is the reason why novak djokovic is the greatest of all time over flatter in doubt is the fact that he has done something even federal in the dow have done so far in that careers and one each grand slam two or more times and that is i mean just even say out loud is seriously seriously impressive. Given the fact. That as i said he's now won. Two franchisee pins in an era where nadal has won thirteen and his is one of the best ever klay quotas say the fact that he's now in his trophy cabinet is i think is going to fuel. Potentially him being seen as a selling. Certainly i think to the graceful time but i think you're right in the sense that he's going to have to overtake federal. Dow on twenty. In order for that. I think to be potentially rubber-stamped. Yeah i know so. I think i'm sure he'd love to get the olympic gold. Medalists will obviously federal. Doesn't doesn't have any single. Say that will be quite interesting when when it comes to a if the olympics are actually gonna happen this year but yeah i guess debate will go on and people were very happy regardless. I'm on that night let's Let's have a quick break now but will we lack in the second half to talk about the women's final at from saturday so didn't go anywhere. This is the pulsing show jolan kim supported by download. Tennis dot com. And now we're going to move on and talk about the ladies final. Barbara critic against anaesthesia. Pathogen kvor Now this one cut it went the distance as well had three sesa between the two of them. But it was bob walker ticha. Did he came out on top to claim her first singles grand slam title. She is actually a double champion this this weekend. We should say because she also won the doubles with eh katerina's so she says women's in mary pierce in in two thousand t- to win the singles and doubles right on garissa she. She's i mean she's she's made history relations. Say the first check winner at roland garros since well forty years ago since hannah mandlikova did it. So i mean no one would have envisaged Being the champion at the tournament you probably would have said yes. she's she's owned for the doubles for the singles. She's kind of come out of competing anywhere. And but i mean absolutely kudos to her. She she was the best player on saturday's final. Yeah definitely she managed to get get herself. I've aligned You know. I think that. Were fitness concerns particularly around pathogen. Of i think she had extra strapping on her leg. Like towards the end of that second set which didn't think bode well but could cheever. You can't beat kind of what's in front of you. And she was able to to come through it and although it was quite topsy turvy in she came through six one. Two six six four I think you've got to say that. It was just a fantastic fantastic achievement. Given the unseeded to do the double Yeah she she had that fantastic win against sacree where much point down lest we forget and to come from their real real kind of on the brink to stuff to come and win the title. We i think we kind of forgetting that it could have been someone anyone in the drool. And it's proven that this this time. Round and i think the fred shape has a knack of of really kind of throwing up some some surprises and i mean she was coming into it in grateful having one strategy and i think this is just a case of it. The the players. I think you were in mean. She was in really really good full and it didn't matter how many i guess slammed one in or if you were a slam winner before in the joy if you had to form with you i think critique showed the form can carry you through to become a grand slam champion. Yeah i mean at the end of the day you need to play better tennis than your pain and and if you doing that while seven times in this tournament and i guess five times in the strasbourg and you do enough to get the job done. And then then way. And she's debate in grateful when i think mentally. She's very strong. She's very calm. You know she's been say working with sports. She was getting a bit nervous. She did double on her third match. Point and i thought oh she's ready to say up before it starts going on. I did wonder when she didn't combat you. Those match points on the poppy jenkins. I wonder if she was going to. You know what what was going to happen. that know it was it was still. It was still very very kind of impressive. "He's able to get together at roland. Garros it was. It was eight resolve. Reminded me actually if the situation tables in a fill in a pre cut of cre- long hours in the sense that you know he had a good lead up and maybe run gas was going to inspire him to take him further into the competition oversea. Unfortunately it didn't work out for team. But i certainly think it did for jd. Schwartzman getting the quarterfinals. Pretty much doing the best he can do. And you know he did he did take self nadal and he stopped mcdowell's thirty six set winning streak He also i think stopped his thirty eight set would extract a few seasons ago as well So yeah he definitely does. He definitely does relish the the competition and facing one of the greatest of all time opposite him it. You don't get the sense that it it really is. There's no sort of fear factor. There really is no. I feel like they get on well and i mean schwarzen- think yeah he doesn't fair. I think he relishes a sense as well and he's just seasons like a very nice blake. Justin he schwartzman so even as rafael. When he was he's up against schwartzman was playing. Very well you know. it's. It's not. I i did. How the phrase it. But yeah i feel like he's a friendly i if that makes sense yeah is now into his says she faced grand slam semifinal. I think As it would be his fourteen grand slam point semi final at roland garros. Oversea hasn't lost one. A in his previous but gots may well change come. Friday when novak djokovic unless berrettini stages the most unlikely comeback When novak djokovic is down the other end i mean. Let's just talk a bit about the novak bertini match as being quite regulation after. Say six three six two and they supposed to behave you so feel like is this the best bertini can can do because either he was being made to look very very ordinary and he has clinched the said satire break. But i still feel like that's the best is going to get but you know i may be wrong. Maybe wrong. I worked so i did go to. The formbook and djokovic was very much to the extractor. i think of bertini's. I think quite obvious. Weaknesses against the the big three particularly yes. He's a massive forehand and the crowd. Absolutely love it when he hits a winner from it but that still some deficiencies that particularly on the backhand side. I think it has. I think has improved kind of this season but certainly not as strong. I think as it needs to be if he has kind of serious ambitions. I think being a mainstay in the in the top ten or even pushing The top five The question i had was whether he could bring out a particular sets. I didn't see much of the bertini. Sliced back single handed backhand and i thought that would finish short there. Are you know if i was facing jock. Rich on a clay-court thin could potentially what quite well. I think we saw with don evans was gave david's by where you know he was really kinda focusing on that Single-handed slice giving jackovitch no pace and i wondered whether bertini could have employed that bit more than those fast two sets. He liked to go to the drop. Show quite a bit and i always i always take. It's never could side guide to the drop shot in like set one it just to says to be the comforted in gaito of the bay side with your opinion So i think that's certainly things he can walk on. We'll have to wait and see the the outcome of the match. But i think djokovic was looking very much in dominating in an imperious form tons of his serve on his return. I mean in that second set Bertini one only twenty two percent of points on his second serve so you must have picked up in the third but those first two sets it does suggests a little bit like nadal and not force against schwartzman. He's definitely coming to the boil at the right time. Yeah jovovich proving. Why he's the the best return in the game. And i mean whereas data evans when when you need him. Hey i feel like he's he's he's not the new bible how to beat navy on. I feel like navy to ever sleigh star in his his clay season. But he's very much there now paying the the best tennis that he can say Yeah he's looking very sharp. We're gonna take a quick break now but d- join us in a moment where we'll be looking back on all the results from dayton. So don't go anywhere. This is the passing shot with jolan. Kim supported by download. Tennis dot com. And now we're going to move on to look at all the action from dayton over at girls Where we saw well to women's quarter-finals. That very much went the distance. I thought it was quite remarkable that we had two in a row. The kind of both went a sort of six. At least in i final say and i think they've both went longer than the to benz quarterfinal matches on that day. I think they did. Yeah absolutely of our. She didn't have a tiebreak in the said. Settle in the fifth. Set for the men so it can go on for as long as you like really some. Let's start with tamara. His thought this copetition houses. She she has. She beat benko andrey in in the first round Nine seven in the third on kind of a similar story really she. She had to save breakpoints. I guess seventy eight in a seven in that much. She saw them and then managed to close out craze out the weight and so she was sort of very much towards the end of the match. She was in a not in the ascendancy. Shall we say and similar thing happened index matt. She was bright points down and he so of today's breaks it like surely surely she's but Sedans it was able to save them. T- four winners and then she came through and break producer and yeah i mean she was very composed. I thought so..

Tennis adapting to the new normal: French Open 'unilateral' September Switch; 'Flushing-Garros' slams back-to-back?; Laver Cup & ATP/WTA responses analysed; 'Excusez-moi?' Players find out on social media; Tips for fans to cope with no tennis

"Everyone and welcome to the passing Shaw. The tennis poke caused by fans four fans with your host Jolan Kim. Today on the show. We're going to be bringing you up to speed on all the latest developments of the corona virus hit tennis season including the French controversial date change the ATP and WBZ's movement to a collective approach decision making and how players are keeping on their training routines in home. Kim I find this all very surreal. It could have been Indian Wells. Men's Fund will stay. We could have been previewing the AP we could have been. Who knows. Maybe looking forward to Andy Murray in back onto a tennis court but unfortunately sadly all that is on hold seemingly indefinitely a you you in high spirits. Nassir to Joe. I mean I've just it just keeps getting from bad worse doesn't There is just as old ask for control. We company do anything we have to sort of hate for the best and I mean there are things we can do. We can follow advice and stay inside of course but yeah. I would give anything right now just to have. Tennis is a poker it like whoever it is I will. I will accept the crappiest final in Tennessee straight. Means we have lives for again right. I find it quite funny. Actually because even though we no life tennis to kind of talk over there still seems to be actually more tennis news to actually To actually catch up because you know we still had a lot of information. Come at us from the tennis world. some some more surprising than others. And obviously we'll get onto that. Let's just give our listeners on ourselves. Actually a pair of the of the lay of the landscape at the moment the Toys R. Off Indefinitely Think. Officially at the moment they've been suspended to the seventh of June which is basically ruled out. Oh Clay Court tennis. So we've had all the tournaments in Madrid Rome Strasbourg Rats Munich astro Geneva Leon who whites from the calendar ranking points have been frozen as well so yeah we've got no. I got life headed to come to full with T. But when this was kind of announced I think the big the big talker boy it just the state the announcement was the that the ATP at W. Ta said now is the time to act unilaterally. Kim But in unison. Yeah so I mean they overeat out what they said. And I'll see if our listeners can notice what's missing so auden all decisions related to the impact of the creative. Irs Require Consultation and review with the stakeholders in the game view that is shared by ATP WPA the ANC tennis Australia and the USDA. So Joe. What's missing from US announcement. I think that I think maybe the French tennis federation a missing. I I have no idea why that is the case. They could have been because they went compete. Ray who can just reschedule tournament at the top of a heart without telling anyone our consulting anyone involved in which is going to be a might have something to do with it. I think I've eaten. What bold move. I mean understand that they obviously won't let on to happen at some point and is obviously wasn't going to really happen you know saying it's the it's the next. Grand Slam in the calendar but the decision they took was just so so rash and they've moved to the most awkward position arguably in the calendar. You know just all for the USA. But I think there's about six days in between the end of the US Open. Stop the French Open. This is all hypothetical oversee. None of this may happen and from what I've read from some circles. It's unlikely that we'll probably have any tennis the rest of the year. I don't know I mean. I'm hoping that's not the case. Obviously but all of the kind of ramifications. Ooh Who's GonNa play what what's going to happen like might be null and void because they might white everything a. Let's let's say hypothetically that it does. Let's say the French will go ahead in September? I think the dates they have said at the moment it will take place is September twentieth to the Fourth of October. First of all clay-court Teddy's at that time. That's not going to be fun is it? Yeah it's going to be very cold. I mean even wrote on Garza's on end of May beginning of genie's they can have some terrible weather and to be fed they do have the reef but also there wouldn't be any legal tournaments in in-involved say people would be coming in like fresh off the hard courts Without any practice unless they choose to focus just on the clay and took themselves off to some challenger events or futures the because I think those things they could probably arrange you know in advance kind of place at the time to kind of set them out for like practice. I think they're easier to kind of just put on a shorter natives. But it's just yeah. I mean what you do for example if you're if you're a rapper. He's defending the US. Open defending the French shape in this year. Does he just play both and hope he can defend both? Does he pick one over the other. It's just the strangest decision and we've never seen this happened before but it's is just I mean. Would that be the most remarkable achievement if someone one base of as black tobacco? We've talked about someone winning the French Open and Wimbledon boxy. There's still a gap of several weeks between those two but and that's obviously not being done an awful lot so this would be some fate if it was a chief. Yeah I mean certainly. I think it's still by the the PA. The calendar is obese. Like a back to back grand slams. We've got the sunshine double. It did well by. Abby is you've got the I coined it on twitter at the the flushing guerrillas days It's certainly that that would be a challenge for I mean for a lot of players especially for someone like Nidal. He is the defending champion in both of them. Both events would be taken enormous toll on the body. And you know we've seen you know the big three that approach to the season to take kind of a stripped back approach pick and choose events and it does it does bring up the question of you know if that does go ahead and you have back to back Grand Slams. Is it possible to debate for which you have to watch? You have to be really refocused and just say I'm going to do one or the other and you think that potentially from the Dow I would just focus on on the French Open as it would pay me to say given defended the US Open champion. Ba Yeah it feels like just focus on on one. I mean he would be the history again at the friendship going. Thirteen to add. It would be great if he could win at different times of the year when the conditions that may be different because that would just I guess ultimately proved that Hey I am totally trae anytime of the year. I will be there at the top so you'd have to think he would go for the French over the US. But I mean another thing. Is that depending on. When or if the season comes back like players will have had a long spell of time. You know in competition say they might be much fresher healthier and injury free so it might not matter too much in terms of the toll on their bodies as if this is happening at the end of animals is not that we would see this kind of contrast normally it might be the impact might be lessened somewhat because of that. But I mean who say. We haven't mentioned that it will say clashes with the Labor cop which is technically an exhibition right. It's not like a proper event but basically all the top names you know have signed up and committed to playing and all the tickets have been sold. Yeah sold out. It's being held in Boston. Which is I guess. A logical place to for them to get off the Apron said exhibition senior team world. Lovely what will I mean tires on surely going to pick that over the friendship? And but it's

"So I stand when I'm talking with you on the show. I never sit on the air. And it is something I have done for twenty one years now because someone convinced me back in the mid nineties sitting would be really bad for me. And that I needed to stop sitting that have more energy project better it what I do that. I would think quicker if I stood and I was like, oh, well, okay. So I started doing it. And there was no science at that point to back any of that up. But I found really light standing working instead of sitting. Now, the science is compelling that if you work in an office job, and you sit on your rear end all day. Think about somebody. Who's a truck drivers sitting in a truck all day? It is a disaster for your health. An absolute disaster. There was a study done in Europe. That found that when you sit all day. That just doing that leads to a huge number of health problems leading potentially to diabetes. And your cholesterol numbers. Get a whole lot worse potentially putting your heart at risk. Today. Getting a standing desk is so cheap. Now that used to be zillion dollar thing. Our producers Chem and Joel have these devices that set on a regular desk and pop up there pretty cheap metal. But they work. They pop up and both of them can stand their desks. Our producer Christa has a desk. This electron ick. That is a standing desks. It can go up or down. Hers was a lot more money. A standing desk we'll likes to do everything first class. Her full standing desk was two hundred bucks. The thing that Jolan Kim us about fifty dollars. And in fact at Clark deals dot com. We have a guide to buying various standing, desks. There would be very affordable. If you work someplace, and they're not into this just ask if you can add one of those platforms where you can raise your level. And you just stand and stand as many hours a day as you can't typical day. I stand for about six hours, and I love that. And I and it turns out that what I was told a generation ago is really true that it is better for my health. But don't stand on your laurels are set on them. Either. Because. Part of the European study found that standing alone keeps your health from deteriorating. But if you really want to improve your health. You still have to have the exercise part? So think of it as a continuum you sit and don't exercise. Well, it's really bad for you. You stand and don't exercise. It's neutral for you, you stand and exercise. It's great for you. Lucy's with us on the Clark Howard show Hallo Lucy. How are you doing? Well, how are you? Good good. You wanna talk about something? Not so great it student loan debt. Yes. What are you facing? Well, it's my daughter. She graduated in two thousand fourteen she's got it. Luckily, the good job and. Paying? Doubled up on them. Stays down. Great credit, and I saw and heard of different companies that you can read finance. Say one of their names. But I was wondering if that's something you recommend. That depends. Do you happen to know first of all what is your daughter's remaining student loan debt, having graduated so recently, she's about I think maybe forty eight thousand forty eight she's got left. Yes. Yes. And approximately what does she earned a year? She earns about fifty thousand a year. Okay. So she's got student loan debt roughly equal to what she's making. But she lives home. And you know, we don't charge with home. We just want her to, you know, pay her student loan is, you know, as much as she can she's actually going for promotion, so she's probably going to be getting a promotion. Soon. Maybe about fifteen or twenty thousand so. It's gonna go up. But she, you know, she gets frustrated after she sees herself paying for the last two years and double payments each month and see how little it has actually come off because of interest rates, we we're not smart enough to pay the interest in advance. Like now, we're doing with our second child. That's the question. I had I saw. She she on all federal loans as best, you know. Well, it's it's she lived away the first year, and then she stayed home for the second three years at a state school. So the first year was more parent plus type loans, right? So those are loans parent, plus you're actually on the hook for those. Yes, we're on the hook. But she pays them. She. Cosigned for her. But she actually pays the loan and the parent plus that you have is it somewhere near seven percent. Yes. I think it's six point eight or there. Okay. And then the other loan. She has those are in her name or those are also parent plus. Those are all in her name. So those loans carry likely meaningfully lower interest rate if she was in school up to fourteen do you know where those down around three and a half to five and a half percent. I don't think there's as three I think they're closer to five. Okay. So those loans there's not going to be any real opportunity to refi or anything like that. You're not going to save any money on those. But the parent plus loans that are near seven percent. You would be the one actually refining those even if she's paying on them. Because you're the one obligated on them. Now, I called them yesterday. This company that I'm talking about. And I asked them if you know because that's the main reason she hasn't responded done before because we would still be in our names. But I asked the person over the phone, and who knows if they knew what they were talking about. But they said that they could be putting her name because she got good credit, and she's got good income. And and that sort of thing they are willing to do that if they're willing to do that. And she can qualify for them. I'm not sure she can with as much student loan debt or she has. But here's the trade off. So you'd go from federal loan to a private loan, depending on her credit and her debt obligations. She could end up with a loan rate somewhere right around the five percent level. Is she qualified for that through the loan underwriting, and that would be an appreciable difference. That would be meaningful going for nearly seven percent down to around five. Five. And that incur credits like seventy eighty and she has just paid your car off. So she has no other and she has no credit card. She has credit card. She she pays them off, you know, just basically for work travel, and they may reimburse her here's how I look at this going from the federal to the private there is a sacrifice and flexibility. So the interest rate has to be significantly lower. I'd say if she can lower her rate by one and a half percent or more that would be worth doing. Okay. They say to go, you know. You know, you can go online to this site. And it says, you know, put in, you know, her info, and they'll give you a rate does that affect her credit? I mean, I know what it is a pull on her credit, but not enough to matter. You're talking about something that sounds a lot like the website, social finance. Sophie. That's it. Okay. That is a perfectly legitimate tool to refi a student loan, and again, if she can get low enough rate, I'd say go for it. Okay. I mean, you know, right now, we have our son who did the same thing went away to the first year then decided to come back now he's in the second year living at home. Facebook is now paying his interest. Now who won't build up the balance over time. That's if someone can afford to do that. That's a great idea. I like that. Tom is with us on the Clark Howard show. Hi, tom. How're you doing? Hey, that's our. Oh, please. Call me Clark. Okay. Okay. Yeah. I thought anybody would know the answer to my question to you. So that's why I was calling it a day looking for a house few months back and I had to put that on hold. And I was thinking about refinancing. My core. I was wondering if that would mess up my credit score for the credit inquiry. You'll have for them running the credit.

"Hi, sheila. How are you doing today? Fine, sir. How are you? Great. Thank you. You're looking for something to get your dad. Yes, sir. Well, I wanna thank you for what you do to help us consumers. And also, thank you for your service. Were you were so kind, and I'm happy to do what I do every day is we all learn together. This this is why question my dad's stays in a role part of a county North Carolina and the only TV service that we have is either all school antenna or satellite, direct, satellite or shed light through the internet. And I had heard that there were some options out there that possibly he could see regular TV program without having to do all of that. That is not really correct unless he has if he lives in a rural part of North Carolina where access to a strong internet connection is not available the internet is there. But it's not the best quality. Okay. And we didn't want to have to do whole satellite. Dish TV thing. We didn't have to sure and the reality is is that often in rural areas. The dish network direct TV thing is actually been your friend because it's given it's given the possibility of having. You know, a lot of programming at not a huge cost. If you do it to just like, a single TV, or whatever, I don't know. What do you consider to be a reasonable cost, sir? Out. I couldn't tell you because we haven't really looked into it. When I looked at the websites for the dish and direct, you know, they have to different packages. And there's only so many TV stations that he's gonna watch. Anyway. Right. The basic the basic with dish will get him quite a bit of programming potentially. And the price is what's different. Now is the price is guaranteed for two years, which it didn't used to be you'd have to sign a two year contract. But you don't really get the good price for the first year. Oh, okay. So if he's in a rural area, the internet is if not very fast, I think doing the dish network at fifty nine ninety nine a month is a deal if he lives in an area served by AT and T for internet. Do you know if he is now, it's centrally? Okay. So in that case, he would be best served by the dish network deal. And he stuck with it in a two year contract. But I think that it will be something that will be very happy with because the wide depth the programming that he'll get. Nick is with us on the Clark Howard show. Hello, Nick Clark. Are you? Great. Thank you. What's going on? You know, first of all I love your show. And it's the only thing that gets through my commute every day. So thank you for what you do for us. You were so kind do you have an ultra long commute? About forty minutes and tried to catch you in the morning on the podcast and definitely makes better. So we're you know, what I'm best at is. If people have trouble sleeping at night. They can listen to be they fall right to sleep. No, you're good. My kids listening to you sometimes too great. But I just wanted to ask I'm still interested every time someone calls in you seem to have the answer for them instantaneously. And and I would love to hear kind of what goes on behind the scenes, whether there's a lot of prep that you do ahead of time, or if you truly are just that Wilbur and every single subject, I mean, you know, the nuances of every single question and details, and I'm sure the listeners would appreciate to hear kind of the magic that goes on in the background. Well, first of all let me take away with you assume about me because I'm very knowledgeable. I very high depth in a very narrow part of life. I know nothing about real life. I can't tell you anything about any movie. That's on any TV show any actor. You know, what's going on in anything to do with the music scene. I know nothing. I mean, I am just one guy. But in this area that I cover I read all day long every day. I read endless newspapers magazines trade publications in a change in the last five years. I read a lot of industry blogs. Where you have to take what you read with a grain of salt with the bloggers because you don't know what's well researched, and what's more opinion based? But for me, the preparation is continuous and my wife says there's no point in me ever retiring because I won't stop reading all the stuff I read anyway, even if I'm not working, and that she'll have to listen to me say, hey, did, you know, so and so. So she wants me carted off to work every day. So incredible. So in terms of what you hear me talk about Jolan Kim who are the producers of the radio show. They are providing me specific information if they can see that I'm having trouble with a particular question. And we all have worked together. So long Kim, and I for twenty years, and I for ten thought it was twelve ten and so we without even speaking we know what each of the three of us need and then every day. I don't know this every day we meet as an overall staff the digital SAF. Tv producer are off air team. We all meet, we change ideas. We talk about trends, especially from our offaire team. We find out about scams that are going on before really anybody is aware of them otherwise. And so we all educate each other and all coordinate what we do. So it is all coordinated together. And we all work as one team doing different things. There are more than one hundred others, by the way. So you think of me? As it. I'm just one little piece of this whole operation. That's great. Yeah. The questions there's a lot of radio shows out there that just take questions, but I think the fact that you tie in current events what's happening on a daily basis. I mean, I regret news every day. And here you are things I'm reading, and it just makes it highly relevant for the listener. So thank you for that. Well, you're nice to say that in the one thing we try to be because talk radio is. So polarizing these days is I tried to be a safe zone for people that even if you're really engaged in the political conversation going on in the country that this is a place. That's a reset is like a step back from that in a different environment. Great. You have Nick do you have a question for me? Or were you just curious? I was just curious on the show.
