‘It Has To Stop’: Metro Atlanta Election Officials Receive Death Threats During Recount
"All gone too far. All of it. Joji Gentlemen today asked for Chris friends, a patriot who ran CISA to be shot. Twentysomething check and when it counted today has death threats and a noose put out, saying it should be hung for treason because he was transferring a report on batches from PMS toe account a computer so he could read it. It has to stop. Mr President. You have not condemned these actions or this language senators. You have not condemned this language or these actions. This has to stop. We need you to step up. And if you could take a position of leadership show something that was top ranking Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling Joe Degenova is on President Trump's legal team for his election lawsuits. Chris Krebs is the former United States director of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency, who was fired from his position two weeks ago. Here's more from Sterling, Mr President. It looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia. We're investigating. There's always a possibility I get and you have the rights to go through the courts. What you don't have the ability to do and you need to step up and say this is stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone's gonna get hurt. Someone's gonna get shot. Someone's gonna get killed. Here to talk about what's going on in the lead up to Georgia's Senate runoff, says Emma Hurt a reporter at W A. B C. That's Atlanta's NPR station. Emma. Thanks so much for being here. Thanks for having me Jen, so just elaborate a bit more on sterling speech. What threats are election officials and workers facing the state. Yes. So he's talking specifically about a contractor in his twenties for the voting machine company that state uses. There was a video of him that went sort of viral on pro Trump social media, and there was a close up of his name badge. And so he was personally targeted. You know, Sterling mentioned a news being found outside his house. He's had death threats, said he should be hung for treason. His family has also been targeted. And this isn't the first time that there's been this kind of attack on a election worker of Fulton County election worker had to go into hiding closer to the election because he was being harassed because of a different out of context. Viral video. And I mean, our senators immediately responded to Sterling's statement, saying, We do condemn this violence. The president's campaign also said that but you know, they said, we're going to stand by our questioning of the election. We still think that things went wrong. But the president this morning didn't take that. Fact, he called the election rigged again. Which again you know, Election officials have repeatedly said, isn't true. So it zip it of chaos right now. Well, as you say the allegations of widespread misconduct are simply not True, but is that clear to voters in Georgia? Yeah. I mean, that's the question, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be to some voters on down in Georgia and across the country, even though these messages about there being no evidence of widespread voter fraud have been consistently coming out of Georgia's Republican controlled secretary of state's office. Those officials are now being attacked from the right for saying that by supporters of the president who believe that the election was rigged and that there were problems President Trump called our secretary of state, the enemy of the people. That's someone that he endorsed and who endorsed him on DSA. So it's the Republican officials are trying their best to counter this misinformation. Starling called it a game of whack a mole, but you know, it's a difficult, you know, you wonder if voters will hear that if they're already Questioning those officials personally, will they believe them when they tell them that there have been now two recounts in Georgia? What's the latest? Yes. So we had a hand count that was part of a state wide audit last week, and this week is the kind of formal recount by machines scanner that the Trump campaign requested. What we heard this morning from the secretary of State's office is that it's on track and that they're not seeing any Signs that the voting the vote totals might change by very much at all.

"Racist but that concludes our show light. Thank you everybody for watching. I hope you have tastic a glorious weekend. I wish that everybody gets gainfully employed that this virus miraculously disappears. And either I would never stand Sean. You want to go on record saying that I would serve life life in prison. Free showed your true colors and I am big big Matt but Ella if you go out selling schedule six drugs. I can't save you cannot. I can't save you if you're doing big crimes like scheduled six advil the prime anyway guys. Thank you for watching and we will see you next week. We are working on the video. I'm actually when it's going to drop but there's something to look forward to plug. Do you not think nothing a dea when I was on the toilet earlier and I wanNA know if it's a good idea. Go ahead all right. It's called dipy wipe bees all right. It's a diaper and built into the diaper. Is One baby white? So when you go to change a diaper you pull out the wipe and clea in their little good idea. You cut out when you got to the climax you I heard you go to change their diaper. And there's a wipe inside of it you pull out the wipe you clean their little butthole and then you throw it away. So I'll tell you what's wrong with this idea and then you can work on it. Further usually the obey baby poops. You're to need more than one wife. I mean there's no world one which one wipes enough to clean that. Okay never three at best at best but a lot of the times. The baby poop is super messy. And you'll have what's called blowouts. Were just goes all the way back. Okay but So for those reasons I'm out I like it. Yeah how are you going to keep the the white moist though? We have to have some sort of seal. You rip it and pull the wipes out. The baby's gotTa have a wet a moist diaper on them as it's like no it's contained within wait. You have concealed in. What is this invention? He's pitching a thing. I don't like the idea fish bowl it's a bad idea. I don't know well then I think it is A. I can't believe that before you start pitching. Yeah you want the diapers to be breathable and light to and so this is just GonNa add weight to it. And we'll make it less breakable. Because I'm assuming because you WANNA keep it moist Assuming it's going to be some kind of pouch that it's a sealed pouch. Sure that is not. It's not gonNA be flexible uncomfortable. I mean the wipes are a little you know. I don't know not really rigid. That's true I get the concept of like when you go to a barbecue restaurant and they give you those like ones in there alcohol. Imagine having that in your all why would you want? That's like built like why wide why babies build it into a man's boss babies. Yeah this might be better for Zack. In one location diaper. You pull it off. Don't you? Don't understand you don't understand. You still need a Clinton cleaning station. You have a station with baby wipes diapers and -pointment and all this bullshit as a parent. Let's say you're on the go and you need to change. You still need to carry the Clinton diapers radio so you might as well carry the wipes to is to go item. This isn't a every use item. Yeah it's like a convenience thing when you need it I just. I'm not terribly inconvenienced by having a pack a baby wipes you kind of need a of baby wipes anyway all the time because they get so dirty. Would you could store them on their shirts and pants and you could hide pouches built in all over. Yeah where on the diaper with the pouch be I'm not sure you know the anatomy of a diaper. Yeah I mean you'd have. I'm not a diaper engineer..

"And Tennessee. For possession of a scheduled six desserts scheduled six controlled substance. Schedules are there. I've only heard of like one and two with the schedule. Six six or drugs that have a relatively low potential for abuse. Oh so the guy was selling. We'd probably or something we'd is schedule one which is insane it is. Maybe I'm wrong about that. It's like way higher than it should be a schedule six. What is six advil? I don't know that doesn't sound very threatening. He pleaded guilty to the charges against him sentenced to eleven months and through the book at him for selling a bunch. Here it is marijuana's also a class one case schedule one drug despite it being legal in some states. That's crazy so schedule ones like heroin cocaine and all that crazy. Shit Irwin. Lsd cocaine and Bro. So what the fuck is a schedule six I will. Here's the thing of scheduled. I scheduled six includes marijuana which is a low risk of physical dependency in contracts with many other drugs. I love that they're looking at. I love that will marijuana. It's either one or six. Well you think it's a is it a state by state thing or is it a federal. That's a federal. Yeah I'm talking about the DA. I mean we yeah. That's a federal six. What the fuck is scheduled must be Tennessee. I'm railway marijuana and Salvia. That's what I'm reading L. Side. Yeah but you gotta remember. This is also in Tennessee. To so wait. What's a schedule? Six and Salvia Salvia. You can buy that shit at a head shop but that's no not anymore. They got rid of. We hold up where I wouldn't recommend it either to anybody straight up that should release still sell. Salvia and fucking head. Did I've been a head shot in decade. I Dunno it's been awhile for me too but that's crazy that should head shop. So cringes like the rite of passage of any teenager. When you walk in. You're like Oh shit. I shouldn't be in here at smells like non chopper. What does that Shit? They always burn. Knock knock jump election since I always up incense once. Fucking your brother and one's a nice pleasant smell aroma. Very different one is what menial do right. Which is the Nice Aroma. No one brothers and sisters And once smells like Zach Burns it in his room or I do Burn Incense and Incense Burn. Incense I do not know I do. Data's got a box of knock Ciampino. You got some Salvia trucks so fucked up. So what the hell this guy to jail for a year for selling advil scheduled sick. I'm still confused. I'm on the DA DA dot Gov drugs scheduling and there is no schedule. So look for Tennessee Tennessee. Tennessee look Tennessee scheduled six controlled substance. It says marijuana and Salvia and including poppers selling paupers. But he must have had a lot right like why would they charge them for that? I mean I don't know if Tennessee is crazy. Why didn't I just wish because in the show he's always like I've changed on different? What you just say I was selling popper like I wasn't even hard drugs in prison. Twenty years ago I wouldn't hold that against the guy. Okay right. Let's move on Marian Bryant Public Information Officer declined to provide details about the arrest all right fascinating so this is this is the allegation that troubles me drug selling. I don't care about in fact I feel bad from victim of the war on drugs. Says they said but what hasn't been addressed on? The show is his domestic violence arrest in two thousand nineteen. His girlfriend at the time called nine one one to report that she'd allegedly been attacked by him. The woman told authorities that he was intoxicated. Grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head against the wall. Several Times that sounds horribly violent and a later petition filed to seek an order of Protection. She said he repeatedly bash slammed her head into the hardwood floor. Jesus here's an article about it that I happen at the time. Oh let's just old news kind of the same ship just read. He dragged me through the house by the hair and continued throwing my body until walls and furniture cheeses. I know this because of blood on the walls furniture etc. She also told authorities that he disabled her phone so she couldn't call for paramedics who arrived at the scene determined that the woman seated common signs of a concussion was taken to a local hospital by her neighbor for further. Medical evaluation of the scene also noted that he had scratch marks on his stomach and chest which appeared to be self inflicted. How could you tell if they were self inflicted or not? I think they can tell they. Have he appeared at an arraignment on the charges in January until the KNOXVILLE news? Sentinel that he was not guilty. He believed his ex girlfriend. Had pursued the charges because of the pending child custody case involving another woman he also addressed the allegations against him in a recent instagram posts. That we have since wash. What do you make of that? It sounds like the professionals who showed up on the scene The forensic evidence did not support his claim since the forensic evidence supported the woman's claim that he had a violently harmed her. The self inflicted wounds is weird because that does that imply that he had DNA under his nails that they could like. I mean I mean I think they have ways to tell hooper crazy if he actually self inflicted wounds on his chest and stomach to make it look like she was a battle. I that doesn't sound good. Jeffrey I gotTa Tell You man. I'm I read that whole open. Do Hoping to exonerate you. Because I wanted to see the best but boy that actually made me more scared of you and actually I don't really WanNa talk to him on the show anymore after reading that what do you think when you said that it was like. I hope he's not serious while I well. I thought well he you know yeah no I. This sounds really bad. This sounds really bad absolutely called the him. That sounds crazy. My Boy Jeff. I mean look how can you be when you have nipple tattoos alternately? No I'm serious. You listen he's got full flame nipple tax like I mean who do you believe the guy with nipple? Tat's I haven't seen her. I don't know the point. We haven't seen the girl but you know I have a whole tattooed always really impressed with Arias judgment. The girl was dating because on well from what was presented on the show. It seemed like they were having a great time and he was just being nice. You know and everything. So when he proposed she was like. I'm not ready. I was surprised but we know more than she knew at the time. And if she I don't know if she read between the lines if she saw stuff they don't show you know in the edits but Such an interesting decision is just insane. It's television right now. It's the best reality season of any show I've ever seen and it's not over yet. I agree with you because at first my first impression was like. Oh she's such a she's just trying to get to America. She's on a site dating specifically for American guys. And then you find out before all this that she's talking to other American guys right and you're like Oh man you're on his all the way but but I think what happened was probably that she just. She wanted to be nice and not they were. She didn't want to spoil the time together. But I think you probably would immediately. It was like this guy's fucking crazy. You know I guess so fascinating I mean guys you gotTa Watch before the Ninety Day. But jeffries off the chain right now. He's handles his handlers of loss. Four hundred thousand six fifty thousand retweets people go crazy trying to get it number one. I gotta meet this real fast but Ila take note of this. This guy goes on and he's playing it on what can only be described as fifty fifty phones and computers and televisions This guy wants to see them. Teddy's real bad song. Did reach number one Nicki Menaj thank. Thank you and asking. When are you showing them? Teddy's girl because Nicki Minaj is a girl of the streets. And frankly word is bond where the she comes from And if you're not if you're word isn't your bomb than than what is exactly What is your bond right? And so here's her video saying that. No she will not be making good on a promise. Show Teddy's bought my God. I just realized I have to show my boobs real hard. I'm just going to be honest with you guys. I did play you. I'm not sure my boobs real hard man fucking played you got fucking played. Look at yourself well. I have to say that I've frankly just think it's not right that she would make such a claim and to and to just clearly re renege on an agreement when people road for her Nicki Manashe. Who'S A girl? The street by the way looks like a fool now and and really. I just feel like DOJ cat whoever she. I'm not even familiar with her. Has Lost all credibility and the next time people are GonNa think twice about any promises she makes in. What is your take on this I mean you know if she promises to show me again and you're still giving her credibility. I think you Kinda goofed a little bit. It seems People that believed her kind of deserved to get played. Why why do you say that? Did she do this before? I can time no but I mean come on what come on you would expect to see some titties. I would expect a twitter post of just titties to assume to wildwood people. Why people think that that was a disingenuous offer. Because it wasn't like I'll show my it wasn't that crazy like I'll show my boobs. That seems reasonable. Wasn't like that's what is crazy to your own. I'll do the. I'll do a DP of video. I mean I don't know teddy's ain't that crazy. I mean if she said she's going to push the DP you'll go. Now that's awesome. Yeah but titties is is very believable. That's like being very a very reasonable thing to offer for number one. I think but you you. You are defending DOJ cat. You think that people were foolish to believe that you would show her titties. I think people were a little foolish. Yeah I think people got played in her words yet so intake is it seems like people getting playing Belle Dolphin and they got upset. That was you know what that wasn't a lie. She was doing a goof. Doj Lied I'm going to defend? I'm ominous defend bill Delfi She said I'm going to do. And she put up. All these videos on porn hub and shit look to you writing for Bell Delfi. What is what a shocker lied? Are You symphony? I've never paid bill dollar a bell. Duffy and subscription selective. "So jefferies obviously upset about the allegations. The thing is that the Nipple Tat's offend me more than the spouse and that's not fake news but I looked into it because I saw well Jeffrey. The last thing I wanna do is accuse or insinuate in any way that That he's guilty of any kind of crime. I mean obviously I was reporting on something else. Someone else had reported on so we looked into it. Let's see he. He confessed on the show to serving time in prison more than twenty years ago. That's a long time for dealing drugs and frankly that didn't offend me. That much that the guy got I have gone to jail for selling drugs much at all which I was actually a really rooting for him on the show. Yeah I was like man. This is bullshit. Everyone's making natural crime simplistic deal. But that's not the only legal trouble he's been. He's also been indicted by a grand jury late last year for aggravated kidnapping domestic assault interference with emergency call vandalism after a girlfriend alleged that he had violently grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head into the wall according to court documents obtained by Oxygen Dot Com. So I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP. I I don't know if the claims are true or not but I'm not just making shit up at thin air but I'd love to hear Jeffrey side of the story. "And we should cause any opportunity to get limp is getting so this is like post grunge into new metal kind of territory music. That was wildly popular for a handful of years in the late nineties before fading and it's self seriousness but also I think for its hyper masculinity and a genre that I think for those reasons perhaps needed some disruption. Exactly why I like the Halsey Song. Check out what she says in the Bridge. Okay macree five and earned the leeches defenseless? Put Me To you burnt. The which is now you're defenseless. Who needs a Wi with this mini ex's So we're talking about chromosomes here and I think this is. I mean you sort of said Frankenstein's monster this would be like the brighter Frankenstein's monster I guess. And she's basically like claiming a matriarch right. She's like using these sounds of the hyper masculine new metal territory. But saying hey you burn all the witches and we are going to rise up and we don't need this many X.'s. That's pretty sick. I like it and I'm sure there's a deeper tradition of feminist reclamation of those sounds that we might not be aware of right right but in terms of what was happening on the on the top one hundred world there were. It was not a lot good for Halsey. All right. Yeah. So why the guitar ever-changing symbol a look back to the nineties is just retro. I don't think so I mean for me. I really like the way in which you can take an older sound. Something which in many ways is just so deeply reapplied a symbol which recurs in recurs in occurs and played in the right way can really elevate the meaning of the song and in these three cases I think they do a really good job at that they bring some sounds back that I haven't heard for a while but we conceptualize them with Olympic that they feel like they match perfectly with. You've kind of opened my ears to this phenomenon that I think was experiencing but wasn't like naming or aware of so I'm really pumped to keep listening for other appearances with Guitar. And like you're saying kind of think about what each of these means because it's not like the guitar doesn't signify one thing. This is like this instrument with history so every time we hear it it might mean something different. I'M GONNA keep mayors up and do you want more of like one more or like. "I think somewhat similar social commentary on. Who are you presenting? Your says. Come as you are or you coming as I want you to be. They feel like they're in the same universe sort of take off your mask and reveal yourself. Yeah Yeah I get. Why they're making this grunge reference. When I I thinking about like why? Are We hearing this guitar sound? Yeah I also. Maybe cynically was like well. We've dug on every other era like can you wind. Husky was the nineteen sixties. There's literally a band called the nineteen seventy five eighty since are all over Kylie's records and Bruno. Mars has revitalized New Jack. Swing for the nineteen ninety so well. What's left Greenwich? We're going to mind every bit of twentieth century musical to try this right. Yeah but honestly the more I dug into the five six song. I think that it holds up both as contemporary social commentary as well as an appropriate reference to music that was trying to share similar qualities. So I don't know I think it's working for me. Yeah all right. I got more on like couldn't believe it when I heard it. This is holes. These new track experiment on me. It from a birds of prey soundtrack. Okay the came out Harley Quinn the Batman Anti here out anyways check out experiment. It's just before you start. I'm guessing it's a love song from the perspective of Frankenstein's monster. "That's funny. Yeah I didn't think about that but here I think what we're getting is a an interesting commentary on contemporary influence. Our culture Trying okay. I'm only letting open CA- cameras flashing and I think it's a criticism of people being authentic in the way that they're presenting themselves. So if that's what's going on the song then I was trying to answer questions like why qatar-based Music and for me I'm hearing like a ninety s grunge aesthetic which was really in many ways a response to be over the top unnecessary excess and self oriented materialism of the nineteen eighties. A music that was also called alternative. Right when alternative might have meant something not genre of itself so in a song about the perils of social media theme the guitar links us back to the grunge of acts like Nirvana and soundgarden and promises. This alternative Other path that you can take. Yeah exactly in fact. I think we can hear things akin to Nirvana's come as you are K. Chorusing guitar yeah. Okay so that's Nirvana hit me with the beginning of No shame again very similar. Yeah took kind of interesting similar sound and if we just got a moment of Kurt cobain yeah.

"You know. I've never heard that I love it. I mean it just sorta points to the fact that all things in culture can go through a hype cycle of being faddish Go Out of Oak and come back into vogue and adapt different meanings. That was sort of one symbol of the guitar in the Middle Of the twentieth century. Artists like sister. Rosetta Tharp Hand Chuck Berry popularized the sound of the Electric Guitar. Really this sort of pivotal moment. That transformed it into what is known as the day is when buddy holly was seeing playing a stratocaster This name of a guitar. Strata stratosphere stratocaster. It was supposed to look like a Jetson era futuristic device and it had the sound of rock and roll built into it and it became the signifier for all Youth Music Adolescence Angst. Right rebellion distortion. Yeah Buddy Holly's that'll be the day and that launched just decades and decades of guitar based Music Where Youth. Adolescence were inherently connected to mainstream popular music to the Guitar. They almost felt inseparable That probably got hand in the nineteen eighties when there's lots of hair metal and so on and there's lots of reasons why the guitar went through different. Act a little disgusted when you you're shredding filthy. This feels like a throwback to an era of soaring epic Guitar Solos. They're not doing it lightly. Either this is a minute long guitar solo the song and I guess maybe for the song you know here. He's talking about this lover. Whose left him in the seriousness of trying to scour the whole world to find this person that's left him and I think there's something a little bit self serious about the guitar in fact that's sort of part of why it may have faded from popularity was that. I think a lot of criticism was that it became such a navel-gazing kind of instrument literally watching Your Navel Play Guitar straps and I guess the song overall made me think about why the guitar in how did he develop that connotation and very briefly. I think it'd be valuable to think about how over different areas. The Guitar has stood for really different symbols in popular music and popular culture. So if we go back to the beginning of the electric guitar it actually comes from White. I did not know that there were people who are sort of experimenting with Electric Guitars and the twenties or so but in the thirties the first production electric guitar was called the frying Pan Guitar and it was a device that was used to fry eggs. No it was like Lap Steel Guitar with the style of playing. Okay are we put it on your lap and you play it with funny metal bar and it's the sound of music. Yeah in this sound became the most popular thing in America for a long time. The Lap Steel Guitar in this sort of Fetish Zeeshan of Hawaiian culture. There's so many touchdowns as to why the opening of the Panama Canal certainly people will post to having spent time in the Pacific but the Qatar sorta student is like Hawaiian Tropical fantasize Paradise Brain. And you can hear it in so much music so much country music so much are rock and roll music. One of my favorite tracks is sleep. Walk by Santo.

"I don't know as a sample if it's any more than any other population but definitely it's like one of the few problems families talk about these families as if you have someone who's addicted to gambling some part of it I guess is the characters in the book is most of them are working. Class like lower middle-class people whose upward mobility has been you know Hampered either by society by fate or by. Pie Their own gambling addiction and or anything throughout the book is kind of the American dream right in how the pursuit of at least people to do certain things. So there's a lot of characters in a ton of we were going through all the characters before we start recording and there's a time But I do want to talk about the idea the presentation of this book because it is a mystery novel but the mystery doesn't kick in until like like Yeah well not the mystery part but I guess like the murder part of crime. Crime Crime doesn't happen until like the middle of the book and I guess like the First Act a lot. There are like hints of like okay. What is going on there? Are People looking for people who are from the past? And you know you're trying to piece together mosses relationship with these characters that That like the antagonists are looking for. It's interesting because I feel like reflecting on. This story takes place like a week before a traditional detective story will take place right. Which is the crime. The a week before the crime because Even before the crime happens which is physically murder of a woman there are people poking around. Moss's past and bring people that he hasn't thought about in years and that starts unraveling until leads to a crime happening. Yeah I say let me. I'M GONNA look at the front page so in a traditional nor novel or even just like a a crime show it. The cold open is always like the crime or law and order like tune done but like if if some are big botchy was format it that way. The first chapter the cold open would have been the bombing of Hiroshima and like like Seeing seeing the bodies and seeing like the shock factor and then it would cut two mosques being older and in a different country and sorry I went to school for screenwriting. So like for me. It's like okay like that's the traditional way to tell the story but I kind of like put into consideration of when this book was published book was published in two thousand four and the setting is one thousand nine hundred nine and I'm thinking about like how many like writers crime writers of color like I in like just like the literary world and there there weren't that many even even for like the two thousand so I wonder if Naomi she knew that Ed she kind of like hatched the plan beforehand and was like okay. Well you know. I need to woo the readers to make moss like. I don't know like a attractive to the readers like make them be invested in him as character and then bring on the mystery and kind of reel them in. I don't know if that was her initial strategy. But that's kind of what I thought. When I was reading the book I mean they do plant the seeds of the mystery because the prologue is the death of Georgia Haneda quote unquote and the setting up of like the big botchy right. Yeah so the reader already gets a sense that like there's a mystery here like I wanna cut the opening scene or I guess like the first two chapters. It's about Maas going to the gardeners meeting. Like an annual. I don't know if it's annual but it's like a gardener is meeting where they like talk about collecting money for their funds rain late night the Credit Union we have a credit union. And you meet Nakanai. Who is the main big bad of the? And he's look and he's asking questions about Jodi Canada. That's your first clue as to like okay. Moss Hutler secret past. If you did not read the Jacket Summary. Like I did I. I tend to do this way more often than than I should. I should really you know. Read the jacket description before reading math. I don't think I don't think it's a must since you're already reading the book like we're already reading it. We don't need to be sold right. That's true that's true But I I should read just for like content warnings because that has happened. It's impassable club picks. Oh right if I had read the jacket description I would know that like this kind of thing would happen but anyway like that. That is your first hint that something is going on and I like the larger mystery aspects. Don't show up until like maybe the second act in the first act is mostly dedicated to Like Masa family. And how like how he is a survivor leg. He survived Hiroshima any outlived his his wife and How his daughter? Mari like how he has become estranged from her and Just like his relationship with other here. She must survivors and how each of them cope differently. So a lot of it is like sketching out the characters before you get into the mystery aspect and that's really crucial because a lot of the mystery has to do it like Has To do with Jodie and Rick. Ricky's like false identity and their relationship. So how are you gonNA like set up mystery if you don't know? These people are also connects to like his survivor's guilt and everyone survivor's guilt in the first act of the book sets them up as someone who just Chichi just wants to live his life and move on doesn't want to get involved with an Uber. He's like your. What's the generation above the boomers? Or would he be a boomer? You would be boomer. Yeah Yeah but not really. Because he's not like in that culture but yeah all that sets up his character as someone who he just wants to like. Take a day by day do what he's used to. He doesn't like change doesn't like to be inconvenienced. He doesn't want inconvenience other people. He just wants to go through his life and like I liked how there were Different types of Japanese Americans and Japanese folks like Like with Moss. We were saying earlier. He's an American born Japanese who was born in California but he left and moved to hear Shimon was raised their for most of his life. and He grew up during the war when Japan In America were were enemies. And you also have a Joji Annetta who is American born Japanese as well but he grew up in America much longer and move to hear. Shema the re the real job even native not not Ricky Camera. But and then you have Wishbone Tenneco who is the head of the Gardner? Credit Union Gardner Shot Gardner Shop. And he was annot boy. Yeah and you also have tug who actually served in the second. Yeah I really liked. How there was this parallel on both. He could Lucia which are the atomic bomb survivors and the survivors of the Japanese incarceration determine taps right and how no one got all that time unscathed by war either through surviving a atomic bombing or surviving. The literal incarceration and taking away rights. And how even within both these groups there are different factions different viewpoints and different Just different groups right like I think a lot of the a lot of definitions of patriotism in the night what does it mean to be an American like? It does not mean like serving for the like serving in the military and like a pretty much fighting against like your like your parents brotherhood. Or whatever I can't I think it's more a sold here here doesn't really well on this. You kind of gives a brief overview of the tension between boys and the Gopher Book for for a second. The people served right but the general tension is. I don't think it's finding it's your parent's homeland. It's do you prove your patriotism or improve your American this by serving from the military fighting for their cause or disapprove your American this by resisting the unlawful like removal of your rights in your property in your family and I don't think the finding the motherland is really the the crux ter- it's the why should I serve you when you don't even see me as a person. Yeah and then you see the reverse of odd because like Joji Moss they are American citizens. And you have ricky. Who is you know full blooded Japanese born and raised and he's like Oh you guys are like traders and you guys are from you. Guys are pretty much like enemies to us and that's not just rookie. That's like pretty much. Everyone in Hiroshima. And how like Joji and his sister academy they had to like burn like American goods in their homes to not lie to move themselves to be loyal to Japan. Detention on. That size is similar. Because you ha- have moss who was fifteen but couldn't enlist in the Japanese navy because of his American in because he wasn't a dual citizen because he wasn't registered right in the Japanese dodging he wanted to serve to prove his Japanese whereas Joji is someone who like the Real Joji Someone who spent a lot of big alive. His chartered in America spoke to applebees with an American accent right and was much more like American his his cultural identity. He believe that America was GonNA win. Yeah Yeah And then ricky was portrayed as a bully. He's kind of like When you think of your like your Japanese delinquent right But from what I remember he also coveted the fact that both Moss and Joji had papers and could leave to go to America and it was something that like. Ricki also saw the fact that they were Americanised. Something that he wanted like America has always been a symbol of opportunity right and with Wreak Ricky like it seems like all of them were in the countryside this is before here. Shema has modernized and you know has like got their you know boom in their economy. So like for Ricky. It's just like I'm stuck here. I have to like the way. The only path for me is still work in the farmlands. And like I'm not gonNA make any money off of that and And then like once the bomb drops like the only way. He can make money because now he's an orphan he has to like the deal in the black market. I mean he turns out to be really good at it but that is his only way to make a living so like to him like an American citizenship. Like having papers is I guess it is a symbol of freedom. It's the symbol of opportunity. Yeah Yeah I mean I feel like he was already griffin before even before the bomb drops gas. I mean like he would like you said he was like a Japanese delinquent. Yeah like the the kind you see movies and stuff shall we? Shall we move into the actual mystery part because we we have talked about a half of the characters are I mean I feel like if I was to write the screenplay the opening scene would be Yuki coming across the Crime Scene Ryan getting arrested? I guess the ad that work to a traditional law and order style procedure. Or something right like that's because that's the crime. So a third through the book This woman Junko who is the mistress of Ricky as Joji Anita gets Gets attacked and Yuki more I guess the young reporter investigating Jody Kaneta Is Pretty much arrested for the attack right? Because he's on the scene. He has been in his hands. And Disperse Moss reluctantly into action. Because and you get kind of get the feeling throughout the entire book that he is just so inconvenienced by everything that's happening. Yeah like you just annoyed at everything that's happened to him but he gets brought in because A to unravel this mystery that has something to attempt so personally embiid because he kind of the boy to the crime scene. Yeah yeah so botchy right there I mean. Should we talk about the constant botchy in general? 'cause I feel that Yeah that is intro to this story. Also part of the like yeah. Lead the title from the jacket description that I read earlier like it describes botchy to be the spirit of retribution. And it's also tied in with Kokudo I guess like you're you're you're inside your inside your moral state of being i..

China Free Trade Zones
"Joji looking at Serbia's free zone for Chinese businesses. I tell us about this. What is the the Friesen? Yes. Indeed a free zone. Other countries have similar ideas. But if you take the Serbian definition, they would say that important exports into the zone free of VAT customs and clearance have goods produced within the zone. Using a minimum of fifty percent of domestic components. They're considered to be of Serbian origin without customs to free trade agreements, necessarily as a lot of free trade agreements. This is one of its competitive advantages, Scott free trade agreements with the Orion union, central European countries and with Russia, and therefore it can say if you come to sub you haven't set of a business here in a freeze on then you'll have a very big advantage in terms of lowering the of the face thing, and one of the relationship deepening is relationship with China and providence. Alabama Bech a couple of weeks ago opened the construction of a free zone in the city of that. I have which is specifically targeted at Chinese businesses. We like to discuss destroy and dissect guilty pleasure movies and decide whether they're truly spoilt milk or if they ascended into fine, looks Yoris cheese. So without further ado, we go. Warning who's podcast is full of spoilers for the title feature on this body language from the start. If you've never seen the film or your fended by Bob language, you hop him warrant. Hello, and welcome to a very special one off episode of the spoilt milk movie podcast of late. We've had a bit of a change in the structure to the way that things work at spoilt milk. And that's due to silly old me cham- getting married. So I've been preparing for a wedding actually having a wedding, and I'm going off on my jollies on my honeymoon. So they last episode was the Hobo and Cutty talking about some recent trailers I folk in loved the episode. All laughing might itself. This time I'm going to use a wedding theme and I'm gonna go through my top ten wedding scenes from films. So in number ten, it was a close toss, oh, between the godfather and another film, but I actually went for deer hunter, the Michael cheeky. No film won't five Oscars including best pitcher. And this is a Vietnam film from the seventies. Deer hunt is a really long film goes on for nearly three hours believe and the first hour is all set in a wedding. Really great seen rarely jokes deposes the violence on the trauma that's going to come later in the film by having a huge one hour celebration of the marriage of the what you believe to be the protagonist, but we ought to find out dinner. We'll take over the film. This film is amazing. It's an absolute classic and is one of my favorites. But I actually would like to just talk about the scene in the bar where deniro Christopher Walken meet the green beret character. So there's a green beret the bar, and he's just having a drink on his own and deniro Walkin and to the bar, and they're very cocky, very brash show in things like put me where they are chin is I wanna see the wall, they're on their way to the wall, and this Beres very silently drinking to himself. The approach him by Madrid. Ink talk about? Yeah. What's the wall like? Tell some stories, and he just replies with fuck it and deniro gets very Robert in air on this one starts together. It more intimidate in what you mean folk it. The Barry sits doesn't really say anything more day narrows kicking off somebody's pulling him back, leave it, leave it. Fuck it. Foco Foco and he goes no by you. Another drink and the guy says, fuck it. Not only is seen an absolute masterclass in acting from deniro ee. Absolutely. Outshines walking in the Centaur film. But it really gives you that sense early on that this isn't going to be a fun film. It's not gonna be a war film set to a poppy soundtrack where everything's Rosie, and maybe you see some guns and so much. And this is going to be a gritty t war film. That just says, fuck it. Number nine, his first appearance of an animated film and it's picks up. So it's not as much about just a wedding scene in general as opening sequence if you've ever seen. Nope. You'll know what I'm talking about. So we're introduced to the character of collars young boy and throughout the film, we get to see that he is a bit bit with life. He's almost given all p. stays at home. He's not interested in the world. But right at the start of the film, we get this show sequence that tells you the story of column. What brought him to the be the mon- the ears we see him meet his future wife as young child, they bombed over a balloon and then they fall in love, and they have this wedding sequence where you just see a photo get taken, and then she jumps on him and kisses him. It's really

"Now, as you make your point daily even more so. But it's always been understood from a league perspective, but I don't think that's why the coaches. Does it want anyone else on other teams to know what a player's injury situation is, but but to your point, the doubtful probable, all that kind of stuff has always existed for gambling reasons. Now, it may take on a little different tone. Now it was a pretty eventful day for Terrell Pryor yesterday as he was going at constantly with his former Washington teammates. And at one point here, DJ swearing and fire are going back and forth. And there's the winch off the fake punch someone give me an idea of what, what? What are you supposed to make of this? How big a deal is this, the fake it. He flinches like them. They're going to be so many people talking into microphones and fans across the country. We've probably have never been in a fight near life actually criticize real fire, how he would have somebody that's been punched in the face for really good reaction as somebody was not been punched in the face, I would definitely not be able to. I'm still gonna make fun of him because that's hilarious. It's so give -able and other players. They're gonna. Remember that. I hate to say it. I kind of cyber Jalen on this one. You're going to make fun of this. I, I've never. I've never been in a fight of never been punching the base and that helped him eighteen that perfectly clean record for the rest of my life. You do on that front and that is, I mean. I don't even get it like, what's I recognize the legendary Kobe moment where the guy fakes you know, that gives you on his face and he doesn't even I get it. That's because Kobe's not a human being. That is the moment that proves that there are there are Schuman's are mortals and then there's Kobe. Human beings of someone goes visit. They gonna punch them in the face. They turn away. I didn't understand the internet's reaction to this the exact same thing to the Cam Newton, Kelvin, Benjamin thing. There's so many people to act camp, put him in check, but would've been Jamin turns around and punches camp the same exact thing right there for Terrell prior. He was wearing a helmet any had on his Pat would if he turned around and punches the defensive player are how do we respond to that? So I'm at a high responded one more thing another day. Another training camp altercation. The difference in this one is that it was correctly predicted on this show by kind Joji yesterday the Browns are gonna have a fight and they did. It's Jarvis Landry and Terrance Mitchell lampy gets up, throws the. The football at Mitchell the to go at it from there. Now. This is that tomorrow is meeting with Dez Bryant. Are we good with Cleveland bringing Dez Bryant into this team? Again, I do not in any way wanna make it seem like overstating the significance of training and that stuff happens all the time. So maybe almost wanna make it period, new paragraph. What do you think of the notion of Dez Bryant in Cleveland? The only significant to the fight is that I was correct, correct. Brian signing. If it happens from a perspective, not a big deal does. Brian doesn't have a ton to offer at this point. Obviously, it might tell us something about Josh Gordon and their projected timeline for him that I think is more relevant because he is it true superstar in the NFL. But if they sign him, I don't really see adding to the Browns projection for this season. This opportunity to play in the league yet one chance with rave that he turned down visiting Cleveland as you just mentioned before me, as you alluded to says, basically talked to me about what's going to happen with Josh Gordon, and if he's not going to be ready for week once they definitely need to sign days..

And I actually, I feel like me and him get along so much because the first time I met him, he was explaining to me how he feels trapped because he's a musician and he loves making music, but his whole vibe is on YouTube right now or time. So like nobody the news stuff because he's funny. So he was in kind of the same boat as me and now. So sick to see him up there. And it was so quick for me for him to be like, yeah, let's do it whatever. He's one of the highest sullen Artis out right now, and he's just like, let's do it. Yeah, that's so say it was. So it's all just like vibes like that. Like people, there's this one on it name you l. who's rapper from UK? I met him one day one time. There's somebody who comes up to you and is immediately ready to suck your dick on some real shit until you how cool you are. It's like, I appreciate it. But like fuck you. Yeah. Why are you? Well, that's the thing. You got to look beyond it and be like, what are you want out of? Dude, I don't wanna waste my time pretending to be genuine bro. Tell me what you wanna do if it's a business and tell me what you want. If it's a friendship thing, put your fucking phone away, Joey, half empty.
