"The steelers special teams captain for two thousand twenty one. The question is now in the live chat. You may answer. Richest number one was there. My number one was chris boswell. So and your answer can't be nobody like you've had for number fire which i think would work so if you have your your answer andrew o. Barr says balaj. I still don't even have him on my fifty three until he shows something And really you think the steelers are going to have someone who's in their first season with pittsburgh is a captain. That's just not how to do it. Say brian brown says what she means. Derek us us pittsburgh's his mouse killebrew. I would agree with that as well. It's for what just about bellagio. That's hard for someone to make the be the team captain that first year up there Cheese ball ten says he agrees with boswell. George testing says what create assists chase. I don't see. Don't even play any specialty. Yes he actually. He played twenty seven percent of the spanish steps. Yeah he played a lotta. He played some governor. I expect though That number to go down this year not up. I do as well. That's what happens when you just like alex smith. Yes kathy. She says what. Hi cathy clarence. Washington also says what mason says balaj. Seth bow was the first one to say he's the first one. Say he says buddy johnson. Joseph pronounces buddy johnson but johnson. Honestly he might be my my bet for steelers special teams captain in two thousand nine twenty three. Yeah give him give him a couple years of the steelers. I think he's gonna play better. Tim this year but once again. I don't see the steelers having a rookie. Be a team captain. Okay richard adamson says boswell garrett slinger lynn said danny smith aka no one other words. Paul says none torna says lot of milk like. I don't even see that guy playing special teams. He just puerta. Just wanted to put that name out there. Bryan blackstock says derek. What the artist formerly known as soliver believe boy mob kennel. He says benny snell junior came. That's a good one. Okay chris pew pew. He says what he says. Happy derek will lead to happy. Tj want okay. And yeah and then some people are saying exactly what. I'm saying a rookie. Captain. these are players that i could see. Maybe down the road i i just. I don't know that this would be the rookie. Or some of those rookies. Have the opportunity to be impactful. Special teams player. But we're talking about the special teams captain going into the year. I don't see a rookie. Who to be voted on before they play a game crack. So it's not something like you have a floating captain. Were that going to go out. And they've done that in the past. The steelers did that. What was the game was was twenty. Twenty seventeen where the only had two captains yes i believe so they. They floated captains week-to-week. They didn't always announce them they had special teams captains. Just wasn't the same one. For the whole season tyler medicaid which was a special teams captain a decent number of times. I think in two thousand seventeen so but and that was only his second season. Twenty six thousand right. I think so. That's the thing that. I think they could do what you said where. It's nobody and they and they float it week to week. Okay like andrew says captain by committee. They kinda did they did. And that's not. That's uncommon that y play back in high school. We actually where we had some some like two captains every week in two captains rotated. Did that when i coached dude. When you're in high school. You wore leather helmets. I'm not at all if they were letter. How much high school. They were dinosaurs skulls. When you were nice that was we have to doubt that. Yeah so but you have could be interesting to hear what you have cows out there. He'd helped you get me good but that was pretty weak. So that's that's pretty awesome. I still say if you're if this was something you can place a wager on wwe. I'm putting my money on chris boswell. Honestly that's what he's my number one. He's been the captain before he's been with the team. I mean you realize he. He's one of the oldest players on the steelers. Yes if you're asking if you're asking me to put money on my on my ex. I'm probably put my i'm like you. I'd put money on. Baas put money on derek. What i'd put money on and nobody this we're gonna be my top. My top three vets would be those bets. This this is lifespan. I'm gonna do a little trivia with you. there bro. Ready ready one. Two three four thought. It was seven on the steelers current ninety man roster. There are seven players thirty years old or older. Can you name them. They're seven seven enron burns. Seven is one of them. Ben roethlisberger tyson. all of. He's the second oldest at thirty four bennett. Thirty nine cameron heyward cam. Heyward is one of the next two who was at thirty two cassius marsh. He's twenty nine. Okay to be close at strike restricts. Okay boswell boswell was thirty dispute a four right. That is for.

"A larry's they're great. Yeah like you think you're talking about what tone inviolate gets like movie. Nerd context. It's like a tour theory. Basically the director is the author. The movie in like that is definitely a thing that in the nineties. We had like a big research. Is that with like wes anderson. Pt anderson david a russell and spike gels tarantino and stuff and then now we do have a second one to some extent with guys like nolan miller and jordan jordan. Peele very clearly has a tone in a you know puts his signature on every movie in like. It's interesting because when that originally that was originally like a seventy staying but even like in the ninety s when you had like it's a second wave of tours if you will that wasn't marketed. That way even like miramax who was like releasing most movies by those were they were doing it as prestige movies because of those filmmakers but like now people brand it as christopher nolan movie or as a jordan peele movie and and that's kind of lake an impressive new thing also with tv shows too. I being like a you know. I keep mentioning pitcher but jason. Bateman is a fantastic director if you see his episodes ozark and they're very similar. Because i remember seeing an episode of ousama. This feels like that. Jason bateman episode of ozark. Didn't it said directed by jason bateman. Got it so. He's got his own specific pitcher like tone he he decides to do with like a fool feature thriller. I guarantee you'll get a bunch. Ask him out. He did a dark comedy. That was very well directed. I forget what it was called about a spelling bee. It was that was a pretty funny. I liked the movie in general. It's very very well directed. He also used to do a lot of commercials in have company. That just did commercials and he directed some really the commercials. He's awesome i i just. I don't think he directed just watch game night on an airplane and that was the funniest thing funny that it was a really funny movie that exists. It's just so funny guy who's the neighbor i was the answers plant plumpton. I can't remember. Oh jessie just one particular in everything and some have somehow the i when you watch when everyone in the world is watching breaking bad and jesse plummet showed up the way he behaved in. That made you think that he would be cornered forever because he was so particular. Sometimes someone a so particular in something that you're they'll never break out of this but he has such an incredible way. He's very funny in fargo. And very good in that. He's in game night. He as incredibly still is kind of the creepy. Like todd breaking bamberg dirty. I just love to just the superfund movie that exist in the super funny movie. It did its thing and it was over and they didn't try and make everything make complete sense and there are a lot of things that were just jokes to be jokes and everyone was hilarious and that had a good time on it was so good like you have a lot of chips is like oh they had a sale like it was like seven for two dollars. He's like how does a tostitos expect to make a profit you all the research he did. Toasty does to ask if they had in particular sale on that it was nice. I like you know it was very tight and there worn a ton of characters and you just sort of like followed them around as funny and tag was the same way. I thought that was just contain movie based on a real story but like that's sometimes i work really really hard on things and then i see they made a movie based on when some guys played tag for and it makes me feel real sad as well. I'm i'm working hard please please. I my leg hurt. Can we make a movie based on my leg. Hurt or something. I don't care if jon hamm's leg hurts in. The movie is fine. Okay so we oh i. There's something that i really have to think about it. What was the thing i really am. I'll never remember the rest of my life. Who knows i had sometimes like i gotta get. I gotta say this particular thing you were going to say that you read my script in. It's a masterpiece. I didn't read it yet. I want to read it as we go through it. Have we just pray kit. We can't release. It'd be so funny. Edit the script out just talk about this happen So for my movie review podcast medium popcorn. We read a script that i wrote in college for screenwriting class and a time. You know this is humor in two thousand seven was way different than it is in twenty twenty one right. Yeah and i bought a bunch of comedy friends to read the script and none of them ready before. So we're all a with. Our audience is in remember reading it. And each person i booked on the show was like in their own way brand. You're gonna get cancelled this gets out. This is just like the the train of thought the care through the belt it was supposed to be like a young version of that will be brick with a that ryan johnson joseph gordon levitt but it was like these like eight year old kids. They're trying to find a ipod every all talk like in that movie. Like oleg gumshoe detective lake and it's just badshah crazy and so i'm really worried about this. Go into the public masses. Because i just think my writing styles completely bonkers. I think you'll be okay. We just yesterday. We were talking with some people talking about how they're used to be unrated. Dvd's do remember getting super excited about when the but really what it was was they just Added in everything they cut out and made. It seem like they were doing more. It's not like they made anything different or like specific these are all rated r. And they just added like two more boobs for three minutes and sold you a more expensive dvd. and and i remember like american pie was a big unrated. dvd and We already saw the boobs. Wright even more boobs in the unrated crashers. that was the big wedding crashers. Like what if the boob montage was longer. You know it'd be weird when my parents are here like that's that's the difference that'll happen. That scene will be on my parents in no matter. Even if i'm not at home with them i'll be like in a different town and they'll just walk into the background one watching all right. Let's let's show to rabbit and talk about this movie. Just came out was two years ago now. Two years ago. Two officers year mirrored story can starla giants. Get nominate spice. One was joe rabbit. Oh it even know. She's in this movie The only thing the only things i know about it our schedule hinson think plays a mom. Yeah and Adolf hitler's that's all i know also plays a mom. That's that's good. This is why you gotta let people make their. You gotta be like director driven and sort of like freedom driven because if you actually wrote the actual brain walked into pitch this movie. People are probably starting to look at their phones. Ten minutes into the pitch. Oh attention but they're probably also a texting security behavior. You see this year. Nobody hitler's funny. Everyone's like okay. How did this guy get in here. So cast it. However you'd like you can have as play whoever we want you can have. You can read the stage directions. You can also cast it as we go if you want. It's it's really up to you for you'd like to do..

"It's anthony because with the orange. Bike insider bengals podcasts. It feels like it has been a year and a day. Since i have taken the area and or we've talked and bengals with you and i guess i should start off with a little bit of an apology on that front. Because we had a great show lined up for alaska last wednesday and i unfortunately had a little bit of a sudden in freak injury. Occur to me on that day So i apologize. We did not take the apologize. It's been awhile since we have not taken the air. I'm still recovering from that. Still trying to find out more about what happened with me personally but At any at any rate i You know just trying to hang in there a little bit in and work through it. But i apologize to the listeners. Because we had everything set up and then it was just kind of a freak deal and Went to the er and the whole thing so not not fun but getting through it and happy to be back talking with you. All about the bengals about mandatory minicamp and all kinds of different things going on with the cincinnati bengals with the afc north with the rest of the nfl. There's a lot of news to get to. it's been an entire week. i can't even can't even believe it. It's been an entire week before we get to the news. I want to let you know aside from this show. We've got a big show plan for tomorrow. We have lyndsey patterson prominent espn espn prominent cincinnati sports media member and You see her all over the place. Bengals beat podcast. Cincinnati inquirer all kinds of different places. So we are excited to have her on the program and talk with her about the sights and sounds from. Ota's mandatory mini camp and everything. So we've got that show and then we will be doing listener. Questions live where we answer your questions live on the air on friday so join us for that submit some questions beforehand and have yours answered on the air. Let's start were. Here's here's what we're gonna do. We're going to start with the kind of general news with the bengals. Some things that have been happening over the past couple of days. And then we'll go into the we'll go into the A slash mandatory mini camp updates and things that we are seeing there. And what you know. What all kinds of different things that are happening there. So let's get it going here. I'm trying to pull up one quick thing before we do in we'll get it set up Let's start if if we can with a little bit of some stuff. That kind of came out yesterday. This is we gotta share this for a variety of reasons. But we want to share this. Because he's one of our personal favorites on this program. He's been on our show. I guess i think it's been three times now. Mike daniels one of our very favorites. Great great guy. He's incredibly personable guy and A good football player. A good solid guy in the bengals locker room This is something through the player's tribune. Where players right kind of their own articles and put it out there. A lot of are long form type articles but this is on cincy. Jungle dot com. Mike daniels calls for juneteenth to be a federal holiday and you can see the entire kind of what his way his take on this growing up and why he thinks it should be a federal holiday. It is june nineteenth Can we won't go through through the full history lesson here. But i do recommend that you read. His article on the players tribune. There's a bit more on cincy. Jungle dot com. Obviously you can see june. nineteenth eighteen. Sixty five is is the date in history but It's it's a really really neat article from a guy who just is incredibly charismatic and has been a great addition to the bengals football team. So we would be remiss if we did not at least highlight this a little bit in in and tell you all about it. If you haven't seen it to go to the player's tribune. Or since he don't go dot com. It's linked the article it to the players tribune in checkout. What mike daniels wrote about juneteenth very very just an important article and a very good read by one of our favorites on the team. The bengals are also working with in case you have not heard. This is since jungle as well working with five coaches in the nfl's minority fellowship program. There is one named mike brown. But not that mike. Brown is our our chief. Jason markham notes in the article on cincy jungled dot com. Coaching interns kenny. Ray augusta's who is a co defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at mckendry university Larry black i believe this is larry black who actually made a stop. Yeah went went on to sign with the bengals college free agent. He was a guy I think it was. He was chronicled in the bengals. Second hard knocks where he had. He was one of those guys that everybody was kind of pulling for. Unfortunately had a pretty bad injury but has gotten into. Coaching is the defensive line coach at the university of toledo. So bengals are bringing him back in this coaching program. Mike brown wide receivers coach at the university of cincinnati Tessa grossman a grad assistant in sports performance coach at illinois state university A graduate of dartmouth college which i believe runs pretty prominent dartmouth college alums in the brown family. So they've got a good A good pulse on things there. Steve langa hopefully. I am pronouncing that correctly. Offensive quality control coach at the university of north texas And then It is bill. Welsh bill walsh fellowship program. Obviously bill walsh spent some time with the cincinnati bengals so the bengals bringing in five Coaching interns. They're pretty cool stuff. There's been a lot of talk. I think the last time. Unfortunately not last wednesday but the wednesday prior we talked about jesse bates in his ranking in this pf system and all this kind of stuff but basically there is some good news here. The bengals secondary overall is listed in the top. Half by of the nfl by pro football. Focus you know. Say what you want about that but that does speak a little bit of volumes. Based on the fact that the bengals lost william jackson top corner they did bring into dobie a ymca. They did they're getting back. Trae wayne's they brought in mike hilton. They added von bell last year. Of course they have jesse bay twos emerging as one of the best defensive players in all of football it the unit ranks fifteenth in the nfl by pro football focus. Ben lindsey of pro. Football focus writes quote a collection of secondary starters that includes trains to dobie a woozy. Mike hilton von bell won't necessarily scare opponents but there aren't many weak links in this group. Either the bengals have done a good job. Solidifying the unit through free agency over the past few offseasons. It kinda reminds me a little bit with the bengals. Have done in the secondary this year. If you go back to like the first few years of the andy dalton era member. They lost jonathan joseph. We'll have more on him and a little bit. They lost johnson joseph to free agency. They got like nate clements. They got terence. Newman they've got reggie nelson. That was in twenty ten and they kind of collected these guys via trades and free agency. And all this kind of stuff and all of a sudden day You know they ended up kind of piecing together through different means a pretty solid secondary. Not one that was absolutely outstanding but one that played pretty. Well under mike zimmer and obviously that's the hope here with this group performing well under lou room. Oh mike zimmer was familiar with quite a few of those guys in that secondary before he got to the bengals in now You know this is kind of a little bit of a similar deal. Flew in a remote guys. He's comfortable with familiar with all that stuff. So pro. football focus has the bengals secondary ranked fifteenth with their rankings..

It drew crime at quarterback and press. S a lot of good things at Notre Dame. My worst was, uh, lft looking a little flat over the weekend, making the time you soon and hopefully we rebound this weekend when Elliott she takes on the galaxy for the L A dirty thank you. I'll get a little bitchy there, Chris, really, really narrow there. With your best immersive. Thousands men's volleyball upset Delaware did Yes, he do. You wear It was a little rough on Chris there with his best worse the weekend a little bit. I don't know that MLS is that Nicci Well. The blue and gold game at Notre Dame. Yeah, okay. Notre Dame is a big program like Notre Dame beat Syracuse and yeah, across. I mean, just felt okay and think they Well, Nikki Dog, Mitchie Rain Itchy 75% of Zion, way of since points have been in the paint this season. About that 95% of his field goal attempts have been in the paint this season. Good for him. If you're able to do that, by the way, Robert Griffith Junior. The third was, I guess he was a draft analyst. I'm assuming because This is, uh Was it is interview. I think it was sort of. He was on like, like some sort of digital interviews, sort of draft analysis like Oh, yeah. Okay. He had this to say about Kirk cousins. The Vikings took Kellen Monde. And RG three very high on Kellen Monde from Texas A and M not that high on Kirk cousins. I would tell you this with great determination and great coach and I think this is a guy that could be a real riser over the course of his career. And as you see, you know, Cousins have been collecting checks there in Minnesota for a long time, taking them to 18 897 seasons. If he has a bad start to the year like he did last year, I could see the fans and maybe the organization leaning towards mind if he comes in and impresses. Yeah. Could be. Yeah, Bully that guy's got a future ahead of him. Yeah, e thought RG three Well as long as he's critiquing players that he doesn't like or that he lost his job, too, because he couldn't stay healthy. Ah! Maybe our G three should have given the same analysis to his career that would help him stay healthier. Maybe if he assessed it a little bit more of what he should and shouldn't do on the football field. And maybe it still be playing. Yeah, well, let's see Kirk cousins respond and say something like, you know, I'm not collecting checks. I have direct deposit because it's more efficient way that you know your finances. Robert. Whom is Kirk Cousins? The Joe Johnson of the NFL. Joe Johnson, minivan owner. Still, I think he's trying to come back and play. Joe Johnson. Joseph Joe. Yeah, Like, what's your nickname? Uh, they call me Joe. Okay. Never would have gotten that nickname. Old friends from the neighborhood called me. Joey. If you really know me, then you call me J. J. Yes. One time I went to my son's a parent teacher conference thing, and there was a little like one of the kids in his class. There must have been like at the time. Seven or eight years old or something. And the little boy said Hi. I'm Alex. But you can call me Alexander. Okay? You got a little backwards, kid, But all right. I appreciate it. Thanks. Alexander Ryan in Honolulu joins us with the mark.
