"That's what I learned about this. Anybody James Resort off plus. Don't wear in week two of the NFL season kicks off tonight and sneaky. Hembo has put together this question forest. I Dominic Foxworth which quarterback owns the longest active losing streak in the NFL I`Ma go with Joe flacco and you haven't been around. You've been around here enough to know the way Hembo works. It's curve. It's it's Cam Newton who tonight laying tonight and thus. That's why he's the answer to the question. Cam Newton has lost seven consecutive starts dating back to week ten of last season. You need to go sit in the corner. You should have gotten that one in other renew chargers tight end hunter. Henry suffered a tibial plateau fracture to his left knee during Sunday's game against the colts who will continue to be evaluated. Oh you waited. A timeframe for his return has not yet been determined. A source tells our Adam Schefter Earth the team thinks the injury could sideline Henry four to six weeks and here's the really good news of Schefter happens to be sitting right so seven straight losses for Campbell season and we'll see it's morning. I'm GonNa tell you why he's the best bed of the year to win tonight but let's go to the notebook here and we'll start there with the charges we mentioned Hunter Henry. They again a little banged up with injuries. They're potentially missing seven seven starters for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. We know that under Henry is going to be a four to six weeks of that fracture in his knee. That's the latest blow. Mike Williams is dealing with some soreness in his knees there without Kicker Michael Badgley building Gordon's not left tackle. Russell coons not there during James the not there there are a lot of players that the chargers are GonNa have to make do without they won their opener last week against the colts now face a big challenge at the lines missing again potentially seven starters about Washington running game is in Transition Adrian. Peterson looks like he's going to be back in the starting lineup after being inactive last week with Darius dice nursing a knee injury. That's going to sideline him for some time but I think there was some redskins players who were a little surprised and disappointed that Adrian Peterson was inactive last week. He'll be acted at this week and it'll be a combination of agent. Peterson and Chris Thompson in the past. They played Dallas. How about the raiders big loss in the Secondary Johnson Abram. Their first round draft traffic toys. Labor underwent surgery is going to be out for the year you remember they. The three first round picks. This was one of the three first round picks. They lost him. It's a big blow to them and that's going to be a major loss. That defense is Jon. GRUDEN has overcome the loss of Jonathan Abram and it couldn't come at a worse title. They're playing Kansas City this week so they go up against the best passing game in the sport more shefty as we go by the way sportscenter tonight six after we'll have saved..

"And line John calls it London Papa either way. one oh four five six eight. sports. thank you Janice fun conversation about the giants Johnny Cueto was. back into cool energy but buster invoke and all it's still very interesting in the off season is going to be absolutely crazy for the giants knowing numbers but she's gonna be replaced and possible changes the park in all those different kind of things and for Huns real offseason unshackled so well we'll continue those discussions we're gonna get in the NFL talk to Dennis brown at the bottom of the hour specifically about the great defensive line given that he was a great defensive lineman for the of forty Niners Tim Ryan's gonna join us in the noon hour one o'clock for linking Kennedy road who recap everything it raiders in that great energy although it's a little bit down today because Abram the safety I guess you heard the first quarter I saw the hit that they're saying it was was the hit on the receiver going out of bounds and Johnson Abram he's gonna be out for the for the season pretty major injury there he's a good player and I you know he's John was little critical of us played he's been you know he's reckless a little bit here and there so yeah obviously won the football game and get Kansas city come in and so that that I I'm amazingly in light of how he went off the field at it John was saying the gearing Connelly might be able to play on Sunday but I I would think that would be difficult so I made a lose those two and these are traits number one draft fictional Connelly was a number one pick in shows Jonathan Abram heavy difficult college of surface found his way back into the the deep second are there for Paul Gunther after kind of losing his way yeah early in his career but yeah that would be that would be a tough blow and they're gonna be challenged obviously with the extreme speed have a Kansas City Chiefs whether or not they have try reeker show the streaking obviously it's yet sorry killed gonna be out four to six weeks now minimum now yeah I saw that so that is it is a big as well all right at look at when Antonio brown was on the raiders it was more relevant to talk about and now he's on the pages I think there's a burn out factor on this whole thing but this is pretty big news yesterday that a former trainer with Antonio brown that he met in college at Central Michigan is filing a civil not legal but a civil lawsuit against him for seventy five. thousand dollars now bill Belichick is masterful at not answering anything at a press conference but the Boston media went pretty hard at him today and enjoy a brown did practice in the number one Jersey today but we'll just play a about a minute of billet check today trying to answer these questions in obvious is you're listening to this that nine million dollars is not really guaranteed Albert Breer and and others tweeted out today the language in the contract which is basically if you make the organizational you look bad in any way shape or form this is no one void and your gone and so that's true in any country right right I just wonder of how much no matter of this is civil or legal or whatever the case whether he's guilty or innocent or whatever the case may be how much more bill Belichick is going to want to put up with this seeing the fact it looked just got their job right but Antonio brown is not needed for them to win a Superbowl he's nice is.

"They've got a really stacked pint of training encamp situation which is a good problem to have but one of the guys I'm really pushing for especially after the latest episode of hard knocks. Is there waller I think his his story is so incredible. I don't want to call it a comeback story. I just think it's the story of growth of somebody WHO's put in the work for himself as a man and equally so as a player is looked tremendous out at training camp is one of the guys that Gruden has been high on since Ota's and the offseason program and somebody who's really working hard and I think as tight end can just be tremendous for this team. That's one of those big question mark positions surrounding the raiders because we know what's GonNa Happen at wide receiver. We know what's going to happen running back so offensively the tight end situation was like well. We got there and I think he can be that piece that you really need a factor for them. Now One god I love than I've really been watching especially in training camp watching him are not is Jonathan Abra. I think to meet each other talent. I think he's a stunned. I think he's GonNa be really get after it would have you seen it. What is his mentality as far as his level of expectation did not just for him so but what he has for for his his team you know I I love Abram? I think he especially having seen a different inside of him. At on hard knocks I kinda missed read him a little bit not having known too much about him up prior to him getting drafted then you know the stats on and the research that we do but personality wise I interviewed him that first day when he was introduced after the draft and he just came off as dislike young hungry hungry kind of like really funny kid who just wants to come in and he very quickly made that shift on no I belong here. This is why they drafted drafted me as high as they did and I'm about to show y'all why this defense is going to be so strong. I love that I love that about him. I think he's he it's always good when you have to tell somebody maybe just a touch rather than having rather than having to pull out of someone right and I think he had that I think that would just just kind of perfecting. You know his his finesse if like over better word there but I think he's GonNa be he's GonNa be Great. once once the season starts for sure he has been throughout training camp. Absolutely I mean he had a motor running when he was at Mississippi state flashes of what he would probably be like on the right team in the right right scheme at Mississippi state so I'm not surprised at what he's doing in Oakland and like you said I grieve is always better to have more than less always better to have a guy dial back back then instead of constantly motivating guy who's just trying to get into the league. That's not always a good sign. One of my favorite quotes at the beginning of camp in that I introductory press conference was Jon Gruden saying I'm GonNa change my number so Johnson. Abram can't find me this isn't in his ear as the gruden about plays and what do you want me to do. Code uh-huh and that's great. That's exactly what you want to see. You want your coach to be still stick viewpoint asking even football questions like I think that's a great time. He's going to be a beast I. I can't wait to watch him. I'm sure you'RE GONNA be right there watching him. The thing that I noticed that when Charles Woodson came back what was the attitude when you saw chart when Charles Woodson came back to talk to the guy a specially guys like Jonathan Haberman others just the fact that who Charles within to me he's always been I would say the second best corner of all time are under Diaz and without without question and that's exactly what you felt his presence when he walked into training camp and the guys felt that and they set off. I could tell like they wanted to show him. How look how hard were working for your team to live up to the the standard that you've said and especially with with her neighbor while it was like Accra with sincere? This is not a gay like I thought it was it was so great because we have so many raiders alumni comes through training camp and I think that was by design design to make sure that the that the new players because there are a lot of young guys here to really understood what the history the legacy of the raiders tres it so that if nothing else that definitely drove it on a one thing that Jonathan Abrahams said really stood out to me for a young Guy with so much potential essential but he's to me comes off like a young man is Kinda wiser than his years indicate in after having the joy scrimmage with the rams one thing Jon Benet okay from state as we learn we can compete with anybody for young man to come into this lead to have that type of confidence how does that how does that become a ripple effect a month others. I listen of Kinda highlighting John's enables and several other players. I mean you have a veteran like Vaughn. Says talking about you. What does that mean for the entire core that decent it's far as is the continuity and the the the togetherness that they that they display me right now on off the yeah I mean I think there's a difference between Queen having a chip on your shoulder and and between having true confidence in not only your ability but the ability of your group and they have both so they know that this is a year where they're trying to prove themselves not only in their division but didn't believe as as as a team who's really competitive and equally so these guys is our hyper competent like they know that they have the skill and it's about putting it out there and making sure they're executing it to where it yields the results that they want so that is paramount in all of this You can't flinch? There's no second guessing there's like well yeah. We could probably go toe to toe with these guys. I'd like it goes back to what you said. At the beginning Jon Gruden does not want anyone to come up against the raiders and things like that's w for us you know. They want people to be scared and so that's the mentality. No you seen this schedule. I've seen this Ganji Vam of very very tough schedule. Where do you see this the man they piss somebody off what they're gone for a month? They gotta go to Monday then. They just got back from Canada. I mean goodness. Ns Gracious if ever there is like a battle test this is it and so so much of it especially what a team on the road for that long and the amount of miles they're going the the biggest factor here for them to really really be competitive into latter part of the season once they're back home is making sure these guys are staying staying healthy. I think the travel is going to be a huge challenge a huge challenge for them I can't imagine what it's like to go through a game. Get beat up because it just that's just the game of football and then on a plane be on top of your recovery the on top of your nutrition I it. It's going to be a battle I don't know I think that that to me like yeah. You look at opponents. They look strength of schedule. I think the travel apple schedule for the raiders is going to be one of the biggest hurdles record you see them. Finishing at the embodiment seasons in let's go I can see them with a a minimum of eight wins. I'm going to go on the upside here yeah yeah I say I say I said eighty eight maybe baby nine hundred seventy able to sneak out a game by field vote or something like that like a last minute show though but I said A. Because I look at the division at during a look at the AFC west you have of Kansas City you have the Los Angeles chargers that they gave to figure out the Melvin going situ mentioning it Kansas City can figure out that they're defensive struggles those search teams that they're going to have to battle throughout the season and I don't see the raiders right now being better than no suit teams that I mentioned. Am I wrong annette or or am I just being a complete writer right now. I don't think I don't think you're wrong. I think that's definitely the task for the season them division without without question. Everybody is chasing chiefs at the chargers who constantly get gleaned over despite the fact that they made it into the post season last year are are extremely competitive and strictly stacked in terms of talent so that to them. I if I'm if I'm looking at what I like to call Mike Megan Jon Gruden in fact Detective Wall where they have pictures to me of all of the teams that are really really going to have to fight against those are the top two without question and you'd be hard pressed to find anybody else who disagrees like the it's it's. It's just going to be incredibly difficult but if they can get this machine going they can be competitive but it all has to it all has distinct right and so that's that's always like the magic sauce that that every every team is looking for look how long it took the chargers to build this right. It's it's been four or five seasons in the works to got verse point So it it's the the battle in this division is is GonNa be hype for sure. Oh absolutely is GonNa be. I mean it's going to be a jammed up division. I mean when I look at with the schedules for all. All three teams are going to go through when I mean it's GonNa be jampacked division do you do you think that might may i Jon Gruden and company are they kind of looking looking at the chargers as far as saying hey look at where they've come from because I know of our Jon Gruden mentioned about the rams and he was saying hey two years ago to this team was terrible and look look what they've done. In the last two to three years I made it to the Super Bowl. Do you think they look at the charges as far as how they built that chemistry and how they built that team and they kind of Massell much mimicking charting their progress in kind of looking at themselves and saying hey where are we in where we're GONNA go. I think the reason gruden likes to do that likes to I used the rams reference is because it was such a stark and such a fast change with that team like from worst I quite literally whereas the chargers I think have have been more on like the slow and low kind of plan and like bill pieces throughout the drafts and acquiring guys here and there were or it took him to this point but it took far longer than it did for for the rams to see that success and make it to super bowl so I think there he he likes stat and that's what he wants. You know that kind of like Holy Crap Gruden came in here and in two years Dale locally so that's what I would assume that not looking at closer now lasting with let you get on Outta here. You've been doing this great. You've been doing this job greatly full quite a long time. I remember meeting you when you were in San San Diego at a San Diego station. ABC Station.

"Skis T.. crew and right KNBR one oh four five six eight sports. the raiders. is that bad okay that's a fair question as well the raiders. looks like. a competent football outfit they have very good quarterback play. the run game was outstanding. their offense of line missing two starters if I'm remembering correctly there often supplied was outstanding and and run blocking you didn't hear from Bradley job and von Miller. at all last night. the raiders got pass rush they got DB play either young de young secondary look good joiner came over from the ramps is good Jon Gruden cold an excellent game I use high fiving people in the in the black hole not the which jumped out to me was Trent brown Trent brown what he's he's you know he's been on a bunch of teamsters got a lot of weight on a man and I think people are fearful about wedding themselves to him long term but man he is he's he's the biggest left tackle with the best feet and he just absolutely Bradley took in Gulf and you did not hear from him. they took away or not they took away the maybe the best edge tandem yeah and they quieted that do and then I thought I really thought those Carl Joseph Johnson Abram and joiner really did a nice job in the middle of the field raiders a good I don't feel the continue next week but they look good yesterday last night look at a big this far as I'm concerned they won a game on the line of scrimmage both both of them often Sibley defensively made their car was fantastic he had a good handle on everything that was that was going on no doubt about it but the German Miller were nonexistent like they were invisible the billing goes that game and then beating expect much because I don't know what I expected to be honest with the raiders defensive line that that because last year did nothing they have some new components line but they get some good pressure on Flacco nella flag of the statue he defeated move at all may lose but as much as Willie Mays right out here which is nine you do not have that he was by the way all he does it is there to hold it for you there was a hold of mark Jackson comes almost like he freezes he got to the top of his drop and his feet are just totally plant as guys are coming out and he's not even moving things is you gotta throw to where do some don't yeah I'm good we're going to hang in there until you know I just one sec now because he's not running yeah so it's good start over with a. but that was it I mean the raiders offense of line with his stand awesome just awesome and the defense of wine a guy won't say it's awesome but it was really good and that's that's what the whole game. game was one I thought it's a perfect perfect so it was like they look incredible okay perfect so it looks like a all pro inside linebacker he's a good player given time who do something make your holiday parties birthdays tripping out there here's a here's my question I think it's one that to watch as the season goes on. how many coverage sex or or how many times to Joe Flacco have nowhere to go because the coverage by the rate of secondary was so good I wonder if it's the inverse of terrible we've been talking about with the Niners with their defensive front was good on Sunday projects to be good as the year goes on it so good that it could make up for deficiencies in that secondary I know the raiders to spend a lot on their defensive line. but I wonder if that secondary to talk about where it is so good that it's making that defensive line it for one night anyway look a whole lot better than it actually is. it's all kind of it's all it's all new faces so it's kind of coming together but I don't I love Jonathan Abrams when I summon the SEC at Mississippi state and he just he's uptight he's not just a hitter he's a coverage guy is also kind of a tone setter and you know I know as much as you can be in the days of those goofy in the hard knocks thing on the horse and his staff Salman versus salmon but he's a player and that was fun to see and then in a crowd Joseph was in his prime now jointers in his prime yep three good players there what what do we know what is there any update on Conley's nectar I saw a headline I was kind of scary Gruden said that the player to if if he's healthy you see if I can find a good sized corner he might be able to play sooner rather than later. yeah I'd say they said I think they said it wasn't you know wasn't as bad as any but everybody had feared I don't know exactly what that means there's a chance that during a con the place this week that I was wrong Jon Gruden. yeah but it flew keep thing right away Abram comes in drills a guy and then all the city's body goes going to head over Aston needs a leg leg whips calmly right the top of the head and this compact is the note back into his spine spine into his spine or whatever the hell happened but wouldn't good I was like god dang you did me with that Hey is tough enough out there he had like that like. around the country watching I go yeah that's what.

"That that there's no cut blocking so <hes> that that was the only thing that that i thought was a little over the top is when i thought he said that you couldn't cut me but then when i realized that that's not what he said. I was like okay never mind. It's all good so yeah he he's a he's a good dude. I'm excited about what he could bring to the table. I think he he represents that number. Twenty four really well obviously that was the last rocked by well marshawn lynch videos rock before by charles woodson the great charles woodson so i think he's going to he's going to serve that number really well man and if we're talking about a guy who really stands out and kind of takes that leadership role even if it hasn't been given to him he just gonna go out there and take it. It's gotta be johnson abram. He's he's an absolute instead. One of the the my favorite parts of episode two was within talking neighbor and within sets up happy to abraham. Did i think more players need to hear the ones that are successful and become great life trials charles within <hes> they adhere to it and they they practice it and i think abrahams that same type of guy when he said someone's telling you to do something different. Don't listen you gotta be you period and you have to do things the way you do that if they're not on board voted to be gone especially telling them you play your game right obviously listening to the coach's player but don't change. You'll oh you are. What got you here because if you do you're you're going to be flat on your ass in out on the street and you're not going to be an n._f._l. Ballplayer living zack has been and never would be and everyone's abram is what if you guys rookie wise. I think actually i think barrels the same way. I firmly believe that he's going to take that advice to heart. He's gonna run with it and you're gonna look at a guy within three years. Ears have multiple troubles within his first three years. I think abram was that talented. I love him coming out of the draft. I think damn near every every mark i had him. Go into the raiders at some point. I thought he was that i mean we talked about him at nauseam sembene hitter game changer. I think i think what you see in hard knocks raider nation needs to and if you think he's to hockey you probably never lays the info but you've probably never strapped raft and put on the helmet. You cannot be passive person and not an and be so horrible that hey i'm spencer hall. I'm holly anderson. I'm ryan nanny. I'm jason kirk and we're the hosts of the shutdown full cast your avengers of college football podcast successor in the script onto riff on what that means and basically what i mean is. It's all spoiled. Every tuesday we talk about everything from cooking disasters to pro wrestling too unfashionable pants chance worn middle school we also do talk about college football every now and then like mascot fights announcers fleeing the early and unfashionable pants that coaches where now you want to take college football.

"Different. What we've awake for? It may not be the type of draft. That's gonna have milk, hyper again in Jeremiah goo goo Gaga like oh my God. They're going to be some things going to question. I think there's going to be a mover to but they're going to question. But I also think when it's awesome done like this wasn't made that move it. Like what they did. Right there. Dak Hugh get some love for that. See? Now, you get a little now you get a little braggadocious. But I feel you and there's reasons why now there's reasons why because you were you were spot on with that you really were. And you know, there was hints already we kind of heard hints in the in the media that oh there's gonna be a surprise. Or there's gonna be a different that people are thinking is not going to be mocked away. Or is not going to go the way mock drafts are saying it's gonna go. But yeah, you're spot with that. So you definitely got to take that credit when you can get it. I know for a fact I mean, who we all mocked in predicted who they're going to take wasn't correct. I mean other than Jacobs that twenty four right? I was one. I think everybody got right Johnson Abram was Robbie my favorite safety in this class. And we talked about that. Yeah. It was the best one is the best one no doubt about and he was he was the guy that most fit the raider mold. What raider is? I mean, he walked like a raider. He talked like a writer d plays. Like, a raider what we heard him talking to Jon Gruden with the calls just know this. I'm gonna be calling plays again. You this spring, and I can't wait to get your Smith. I'm bill. You are when I hear that confidence in his braggadocious, and that kind of swagger like that leads me to think that this is the guy along with Cleveland feral already have leadership qualities you wanted in in your players. I mean, if you want her first press conference, and I know you did you I tweeted it out during the press conference the raiders first round freaks all three of them. Feral Jacobs and Abram are impressive the way they carry themselves. The way they answer questions. Those are the type of players I think in the past really in past drafts the raiders have really missed on. And now they seem to have hit a home run with all three in terms of how they present themselves to not just the public but to their coaches and now teammates. Yeah. No doubt about it. Man. They all have their head on straights. They they all you know, they all expect to win their guys that are leaders of their team in in some form, the other Cleveland feral one of the biggest leaders on the Clemson defense that just came off the national championship defeating Alabama. And being the brakes off a but all the. These guys are guys that expect like I said they expect the highest from every single player on their team. Jonathan Abram is a dog on the back end of that defense. I mean, he absolutely is. And he's gonna command the best out of everybody. And that's what the raiders need. That's what the chargers got last year. Dermott james. They got one of those guys that I call alpha dogs..

"Here's Alex gold. Our back inside things here on the gold standard, and we get back into the NFL try to put a bowl on what was the phantasm draft. There in Nashville great to be back though in Houston, someone that was part of our coverage of the draft, of course, throughout really the last month. Plus you've heard him numerous times throughout the network here. And that is Dan shock of our labs dot comedy joins us now on the progressive insurance hotline, Dan, I mean, this was a heck of a showing there for the city of Nashville a heck of a time for the draft in Vegas has some big shoes to fill but as far as the actual selection starting with Kyla Murray. We all know he went number one overall. What did you make of that pick? And what the cardinals did in this draft. Is the whole. I'll tell you what it was unbelievable that the cardinal. You know, picking the top of every round people think well, you ought to get them players, but believe me teams, really make a mess of it. Sometimes and Arizona did not. They did a great job from more award top quarterback, Calkins wives. But Murray sell a lot of tickets in the desert if he stays healthy an electric explosive guy, and then we go to the second round. And then they get our one of our top two corners Byron Murphy, and he was our top corner. Atelli ran like four or five instead of like a four four five. But I mean, he he he's got competitive speed. And he run the route for the receivers and again, an excellent pick in the second second round pick and grab any as Abella, maybe a west Welker clone, and and you know. West played that air raid offense out there at Texas Tech way before Kingsbury got there, but Abella can go vertical. It can come underneath. He can do it all so pick Arizona knocked out of the ballpark. What team? Do you feel like benefited themselves? The most for the long haul here on the draft. Well, definitely I thought Arizona bit because I really liked their their picks all the way through. I mean, they took a center in the sixth round gal yard from Georgia who's one of top three or four centers every buddy, they selected for instance, is a really good developmental player or a guy that's going to step in and help them certainly as a backup. But muster ground of all the NFL fans. New england. Did it again, they really usually New England pick solo and say again, but man, they know how to select them. And you know, it was just unbelievable Nikiel Harry. He goes number one to pick thirty two. And then a big press corner strong guy that you know, he he may play some safety to for New England. But Joe John Williams just a big Safeen of physical and beat you up with the press corn, then they took your member nickel bitch when he played for New England. Now, they got a window bitch for from the same country or not. Nationality. But I'll tell you chases how a guy was never so aptly named chase is hill. Right. I mean from the time they take the snap. The end of play. This guy goes one hundred percent chasing people all over the field. And then they got our top running back Damian Harris who really set up everything for his partner Jacobs to get the first Raisman to go off the board because he just are running a good contrast Jacob's, you know, change the pace type running so but anyway, New England did a tremendous job. I thought again to Dan chunk of our labs dot com with us here on SP nation radio. Now at number four overall, we see the raiders there. Cleveland feral he goes to Oakland instantly for me reacting. I said, well, I thought that was somebody that maybe they could get later in the draft. What did you make of that taking the tapa talent? They got did they reach a little bit. Or it was this the correct pick. Well, Graf guide our mock draft within the guy that was done on April fifth has Oakland Raiders picking playland feral. I guess I'd better say I like. But you know, but, you know, well, actually, you know, we've liked him all along in the top ten. Okay. And so we have mitt for a fit wife. We put him up there thinking that you know, we did not put Murray going on. I know that was common knowledge. I could've put him there, really easy. But I go with our grades and we had him great down lower natto the way turned out bro going to Oakland at four. And so that kind of worked out, but he's the thing that I like about him when the lights of the brightest p plays the biggest and he's an explosive guy. He really consistent football player for three years for Clemson. And I think that you know, that's why Oakland end up taking him. But then Josh Jacobs. Like we talked about he ends up going the first little bit later on. And then Johnson Abram who is a he is your consummate high. Br. Brad linebacker safety player that they can match up anywhere. Now. He's better at close to the line of scrimmage than he is, you know, covering the back cabs, and what have you but again in other real pixel. Yeah, we, hey, we like open drafted a great job now over in the NFC east and you brought up already. We know we've talked you throughout the last month or so where we look your guide Dwayne Haskins was your guys is number one quarterback. He goes to Washington. Daniel Jones goes to the giants. Those two guys are going to believe going to be linked for a long long time in terms of what were they going to do in their careers. I thought Washington personally had the best first round of any team there in Nashville. I wanted to get your perspective on what they did not only which Wayne Haskins, but then getting sweat who fell back to what was twenty third overall. Yeah. You know, that helps Jack up the old average when you grab a, you know, a top five pick who slid down the board. Whether you know, it was the right thing not to do because we understand you know, that heart ailment wasn't quite as bad as I advertise. But they they did have a very good first round. And then we'll have in there. And then sweat who. I mean, the high motor pressure player from the Ed is an outstanding choice there. And so I think, you know, the t you help your defense and you help your offense in that first round, and that's tough to beat. So who was the biggest reach their around number one. Well, you know, I don't want the obvious because I don't wanna be beating Dave. Again, like, I mean, New York's do for everybody. I hope for Dave sake that Daniel come on. Daniel tells come on and be a lawyer that he thought, you know, he, you know, it's going to be but we just had him in the second round. And we saw him as a developmental quarterback. That was Mary mechanical and everything seems to be, you know, he laid out for him where when you're an NFL order back. You gotta be extemporaneous things break breakdown all around, and you gotta be able to make it happen. You can't just go. Well here here here to hear what you gotta do. Okay. Now, they're coming at me from all sides on the flip. I either got his down and take my laws or I can come out here and throw something to drop off to my back and let him get up the field with the ball. And I think that's what was praying about Baker Mayfield a year ago. He was very can stay in the pocket, but he he thinks clicked for himself. Fast the snaps from his hand is brain. He can make things happen in an instant. And I don't think Daniel Jones has that we're talking with dance chunk of our lads dot com joins us here on SP Nathan radio the wide receivers spot as the night went on there. Specifically Friday, we saw your Thursday. We saw decay medcalf for all the way down the final pick. In a second round goes to the Seattle Seahawks seems like fantastic value there what happened would decay Metcalf. Why did he fall so far in your mind? Well, you know, I think that the reason is he's got them stiffness to him. And usually when you're kind of spiff athlete, you have more injury problems. And you get polls and things like that. And he's so well muscled up in everything that he just has to get more flexibility and just keep him in some of the drills like where he's planning and cutting across the middle things like his he's not as fluid as that you'd like to seek him going across the middle and running Abram from Oakland. He's gonna he got a light him up at somebody's gonna get hurt, and it might be Metcalf is because he a little now wise it didn't hurt him as much, but that's what he is. He's not a nifty funded guy, but he's a vertical speak guy. And that's how the ATL will walk him. And that's also I mean, we're also Wilson thing him down the field. Can't believe his eyes. They'll pull up that giant sequoia down there. He'll match fall. Now, a wider Seaver that a team traded up for was McColl Hardin that was the Kansas City Chiefs. And we don't know what's going to happen with this. Tyreek hill situation. I'm from Kansas City Chiefs, finish tend to believe tyreek hill should already have been cut. I think he might be cut this week. We'll see but he's clearly right through replacement there. What does he bring to that offense? Why do you think they traded up for him when? Yeah. Even decay Metcalf. Other receivers were still on the board. Well, I think they see a clone of tyreek hill explosion university of Georgia. He's got electric speed and know, really good return guy. And I think that even though he's not tire kill. They see him kind of clone that he might be used in the same way that hill with us. And nobody's better. Andy Reid mixing up your players on offense and alignments and changing people around do the things they do pass. And I think that's a face. They saw him like all able to be that piece. Lastly for you, Dan, undrafted free agents soon as the draft into we we saw a lot of those guys have deals already in the works before the draft wraps up at least tentatively what's the undrafted free agent that kind of stands out to you. You feel has really good chance to to make roster here, and maybe is a guy that has a legit chance to stay in the league for a while. Well, you know, saying here's I I really think there's going to be a lot of them because every year guys out of the east last game France since there's probably thirty of neither don't go the combine or they there. Drafted create its that make it and do a great job. And and this year, I think there's a bunch of them like in there in the offense of life, for instance, Orion pope from San Diego State. He ended up finding the time for exciting bonus. And he's a tremendous athlete and. The former basketball player guy, a very good athlete long ours. Bent can't move around. I think divine a sick ball from the Brassica another one looking running back. That's the way you draw up the NFL guy like that tremendous football thing while or back from Purdue it's got a chance chances accurate be smart makes decisions. And so and there's a bunch of the running backs that we really like Darren Hall penstock is another one that's twenty seven pounds four four some big blocker. He played all special teams. So guys like that have a chance to really make some noise and make some money in the NFL, Dan Shonka of our lads dot com. Thanks so much throughout the last month..

"If you want to follow him on Twitter at three guys in a garage. I mean, this an all seriousness, there's not a single person. Basically that knows the NFL draft more than us. I'm happy to have you on today. I think that what's going on man. Good here. New. Thanks here. Yeah. I'm happy to have you on. All right. Let's start with this. I wanna play this audio for you this. Dave Gettleman, and he is talking about why they felt like they had to take Daniel Jones at pick six. Why didn't you wait until seventeen? Well, I know for a fact they were two teams wanna take them pharma seventeen. I know that for fact, so it, Tom it's tough. It really is. It wasn't easy for me to pass up. Josh allen. You know that for me, you know, my background that was very very difficult. But I think that much of Daniel Jones. I think that the giants got played here Bank. I don't think that there was another team that was gonna take him because he only team quarterbacks after them what Washington and Denver Washington wasn't taken Daniel Jones. I think they wanna have they made that pretty clear I think the entire day that they wanted to enhancements in Denver didn't take your lock until pick forty two. No, one was gonna take Daniel Jones other than them that makes me wonder with Dave Gettleman was thinking because they could got him at seventeen. There's no doubt about that. We're talking about again, never hit three thousand yards in college. What twenty two touchdowns nine interceptions? What does get them and talking about somebody else who's going to take him? And I I wonder because in his post draft press conference. He's talking about the way and Haskins watching him in the big twelve title game, and they need and then he says that the big twelve anymore. I mean, how can a GM be that incompetent to do that? I think they made a big mistake. But I'm taking drew lock. I think that he was earmarked for that. Then ver was only going drew lock. That was the thing at ten that was where he was supposed to go with ten to the Denver Broncos. I think Elway. Played this thing perfectly in Dwayne Haskins. The Washington Redskins that was earmarked for Haskins take. There was no Daniel Jones to Washington who was on the writing was on the wall. Everybody knew it across the country. Washington was going to Wayne Haskins if he was there. Daniel Jones was the guy they did not have to reach for at six three honest with you. I'm I'm completely shocked. They went that direction. Which one would you say was a bigger reach was it. Cleveland Farrell at four because I don't know mini mock drafts that had Cleland Farrell going much higher than twentieth in the NFL draft. Or do you think it was Daniel Jones going to the giants? I think it was Daniel Jones going six we're talking about quarterback position here. I think fairly competent player. But again, he played on a Clemson team with Dexter Lawrence and Wilkins and all this talent at Clemson university. I think Jones bigger reached though because the panic parenting LA manning free agent after this year you really trust your franchise with him. I mean, Farrell doesn't work out. They had three first round picks in Oakland. Mike may not knows what he's doing. And you know, some people did have fairly without five. There are people out there that did have Farrell in the top five the believed in his ability in method. We know someone see how you know, some of them do they've been on your show. But some people had a earmark venial Jones to me was the biggest reach in in the first round. So keeping it kind of with quarterback. So we talk about Daniel Jones. What do you make of Arizona's decision with Colin Murray? I liked Josh Rosen as a prospect. I liked them last year coming out of UCLA, Arizona moved on. That's certainly their right to do it. They gave up a lot to go. Get Josh Rosen didn't really give him a lot of support. Didn't give him a lot of weapons moved on from from very quickly. What do you make of Arizona's assistance and draft calamari number one? Well to me, it just makes sense because it's Kingsbury guy. Kingsbury likes those type of players and first of all I don't know like Kingsbury head coach thinking you can thank Patrick Mahomes for that. And what he did. But you know, there are a lot of NFL coaches that followed what cliff Kingsbury is doing eighty read is one of those in Kansas City that actually implemented plays matter. In fact, Gary Patterson, a TCU before they played Texas Tech this year watch Kansas City Chiefs game film. So Kingsbury wanted the perfect guy for system once again, it goes back to the coach in the quarterback in Kyle marine. Just made more sense in the me was a bold move. You take a quarterback, you know, what it's new leadership new head coach. If Kingsbury is going to do the offense that he wants to do it's kind of Murray and Josh Rosen. I think you could make a very solid argument that Dwayne Haskins is maybe the best quarterback prospect in this. How does he then go as the third best quarterback? I think the Washington got excellent value didn't have to move up considered your original spot. We know what happened with Alex Smith and you to take Dwayne Haskins. Why do you think that because I feel whose whole process it's been Murray was going to go one Haskins was going to go to the giants. What do you think change at the end that made the giants go Jones over Haskins? A why do you think has started to get devalued? I think it said prototypical quarterback size, and I think cut cliff being the coach of Duke was the biggest thing here's a quarterback guru. As the head coach at Duke. And I think that made the difference but Haskins set the big ten record touchdown passes. But again, you have GM it's not even sure what conference he plays in that. He was watching the big twelve federal gave in Indianapolis, that's complete incompetence. And I don't know how much you actually watch being Jones. He said he showed up and watched him. I don't know how much research went into the giants actually liked their draft. And it's very sad story about sixth round pick for the giants. Speaking of the giants with Valentine at Washburn university that was shot, but it said deal for the giants. But huge mistake here for Jones. I don't know why he was so infatuated with them. He just was. But it was the reach because he wasn't going to be taken. If the Broncos won't read about drew lock. Why was he so worried about Daniel Jones? It makes no sense. It's incompetence we talk a lot about reaches in the first round. I certainly think we can identify what the reaches were in round one. I think you look at Cleveland feral with you talked about a reach Josh Allen not Josh Allen. Daniel Jones was a reach for the giants at pick six where do you think were some great values where do you look and say first round value? You where you selected this player? You didn't reach you played the board properly, and you've got the player you need it think. Montas sweat again. I think Washington did a good job. You know, Montesquieu it. It was proven. They didn't have that enlarged heart that he had the guy killed it in the forty at the combine I think he was a tremendous value late in the first round. We're talking about a potential top ten pick in a lot of teams that in fallen off the board because the supposed- enlarged heart, which which wasn't true. The biggest surprise me though. See that was no Cornerbacks taken the top twenty five. That's the first time since nineteen seventy four here. We are in a passing league in safeties or valued more than corners in the first round to me. That's the biggest surprise of the NFL draft. Just how devalued the cornerback position is when it should be one of the top positions. We know it's one of the highest paid positions in the NFL. But the fact that corners not valued in passing league really surprises me. It's all about Ed rushers this year. Why do you think that is because looking at the corner class corner? Advice was good. The Andrea Baker good corner, greedy Williams. A good corner is not like I don't think anyone can say there were not good corners in here. Do you think it was a matter of there was so much depth that corner? That teams waited why do you think we saw for the first time as you lose it to in a passing league we saw teams take wait. So long to go up and get the corner that they wanted and safety to like the raiders going Johnson Abram the hardest hitter. In the in the SEC. I thought it was reached but rock sin was to my favorite corner. He goes, apple skulls. Chris Ballard, I think he had a fantastic draft in Indianapolis. What that guy's doing is insane. A guy that took offense of line to give you up. The most sacks in two seven two thousand seventeen to the fewest sacks in eighteen when he gets rock out sin the most physical corner in this year's draft. I liked the Andrea Baker like Byron Murphy like rock. Yes. In just a little bit better than both of them. Agreed Williams has little problem. Tackling little problem being physical and tackling. And we know that you guys like John Dorsey, they say, you're you're paid to cover. You're not paid the tackle. That's the safeties job to tackle. You know, there's certain situa-. Nations or corners on the island and has to make that attempt at tackling. But yeah, greedy Williams. This was a guy that was supposed to be a cop fifteen pick. This was going to be the first corner taken in the draft. But we saw him slide and guys like the Baker that could have been there for Jason. Frank Clark that might have been there selection iraqi-us in we don't know. But the fact that the run on corners began in the second round kinda like without so right now I'm talking to j basically follow him on Twitter at three guys in a garage does nights here at six ten sports radio. "I rounds of the NFL draft have come and gone. And we do advance that he final day of the NFL draft on Saturday Brown's four through seven let's it out to the hotline right now and welcome in a former NFL general manager with the jets also a former executive vice president of football operations with the dolphins. Now doing a great job on ESPN hide recently as a front office insider, and that's my tanenbaum was kind enough to give us a few minutes on CBS sports radio. Mike Galvin, New York City, always great to talk to you. How are you? Great dot how about yourself while doing fantastic. And I appreciate you giving us a few minutes. Let's start things off here in New York. And a big top of conversation has been the approach of Dave gentleman. He takes Daniel Jones at one of three picks in the first round this one though at number six, and it surprised a lot of people. How about yourself? Do you think this was the right pick of Daniel Jones? I was probably a little surprised as well. Like like, most people you thinking that maybe he could go a little bit further down, but they conviction on him. And I'm sure they were worried about maybe the Redskins you picking him with their first pick before the giants. We get a chance to pick. Again. You know, I think conventional wisdom out there was yet to go pass rusher there and then come back and take the core back at seventeen. But look if Daniel Jones turns out to be a great player, you'll people look back at three years. No one's going to be concerned that Joe he was the six pick. And you look at the Kansas City Chiefs situation from a couple of years ago where they had out Smith. He drafted catcher behoves who sat for a year. And now you may have that same situation with ally. Manning Hyo who's starter it gives Daniel Jones a year or two to develop under him. And then maybe passed the torch from there. So you think giants are trying to address their core quarterback situation only short term, but long term. Do you think he's the guy? You take him at six. I'm not willing to wait until seventeen and you raise. A fair point. He could have been available at seventeen, but you never know how that plays out the thing for me, though, with how long the Bill this has been this has been a team that passed on Sam darnold a year ago, and they could've addressed the pass rushing need with Josh Allen at six maybe they could've explored a trade for Josh Rosen. You also give Odell Beckham in extension, and then you trade them. I don't know the direction that Dave Gettleman is trying to take this team on especially when on Thursday night, he drafts Daniel Jones at six and they talk about potentially applying ally manning for three more years than sitting Daniel Jones for three years how about the direction that Dave Gettleman is trying to lead this team on because he's really lost me. I don't have a lot of confidence in them. Yet ios AC I actually think he does have a plan. Like, yo days a guy that really believes you know, it starts with fright. You go back to the alleviate very trade, you know, they acquired a very good opt into lineman. Kevin Zeitler Joe last year. I give them credit. They got the rookie of the year and saquon Barkley, obviously, a player that could be dominant running back for years to come. And look Daniel Jones turns out to be good quarterback. He's changed team over in the last two years, a lot will depend on how well, you know, Jones place, and, you know, whether you like manning plays one year or two years probably will be determined by how he plays in the the twenty nine thousand nine hundred and, but at least, you know, you could say that all their eggs his basket anymore. Who would you've taken at six if you were making the pick. Well, that's a little unfair. Because the variables are are little bit different, Jack. But what I would say is. I don't think you just look at anyone pick. He'll independently again, you gotta give them credit because sparkling going gonna be. Obviously a very good. So look darnold Jones dole be compared over time. It's all going to play out. I do like Kevin Zeitler. I think he's one of the better offensive lineman in the league, you know, he try, you know, Nate silver last year solidify the left hassle position. So I think they have a plan and a vision of how they want to construct the team. And now they're going to be able to you obviously run the ball play action and try to develop Daniel Jones from their Mike Tannenbaum is my guest right now on CBS sports radio. Let's get to one of your former teams in the Miami Dolphins. They move on from Ryan tannehill. That didn't surprise anyone. Trading into the Tennessee titans. They elect to not take a quarterback in the first round and they snag Josh Rosen given up the sixty second overall pick. I actually liked this move by the dolphins bringing in Rosen just high up moving on from Ryan tannehill. And what do you expect that Josh Rosen? Yeah. Yo look the Infosec round pick, but still a fairly low risk proposition. Rosen works out, you know, they got their quarterback. And if it doesn't for whatever reason, you know, not all their eggs in his basket. So that moves seems to make sense to me as well. We'll see how place I thought they got a good player in the first round of Christian Wilkins good interior pass rusher from Clemson university. So they got a Michael the guard from Wisconsin was their third round pick. You another good player going to the jets a nice job by mcalinden over the last few years in the first round you get Jamal Adams. And then you get Sam darnold and Quinton Williams tough to top that. Right Mike in Leonard Williams before that. So, you know, they've had, you know, a number of, you know, really like things really felt football their way, you know, Brandon turf. A couple years ago the guard for I went to Washington layer Williams was saying there at six they were able to get him. And then you add to that, you know, some of the play. You just mentioned. So that's certainly foundation. You know, we'll see how plate does. He was a guy that took him the third out because he'll outside pass. Rush was the other, you know position. Indeed for them. There's a report out there from Mike Lombardi and also Tony Pauline macadons on the hot seat. And there could be changes in the front office after the draft. Jason lockenfora has already floated out the name. Joe douglas. If there is a move, how do you interpret that situation between mcalinden and gays right now because I'm skeptical of it right now. But hey, nothing would ever surprise me with the jets. Yeah. Look you sit in the seats in the bigger markets. You were talking about cattleman now McCallion go looked those things are going to happen. The owner is going to be a lot of rumors about your job. It's just comes with the territory, and all you can do is worry about the things you control and do the best job. You can hopefully you went enough games. And but you just try to worry about the things you can't control. How would you describe working with Adam gates? I liked them a lot high energy problem-solver Brealey a lot of energy. It was important to him. So. Know, I there's a lot of things like about him when you reflect how do you look back at the Miami experience. One of the positives in one of the things that you wish you'd done differently. Yeah. You know, there's a lot of good things know, a lot of good players still there, you know, in terms of young nucleus. Hilarity pencils and shaving Howard's and Kenyan Drake. And obviously we didn't have enough depth that the quarterback position. And you know, came up short you're saying there we were seven and six at the end of the twenty th season lost the last couple of games. And you know, those things are going to happen. But it was a great experience meant a lot of really really good people. And you know, I always have the attitude Zach that you just try learning from every situation and move forward. And that's that's what I'm doing now excited about you know, what I'm doing now in the media, former GM of the jets might ten abutment. This also the former executive vice president of football operations for the dolphins. Now working as he said as a front office insider for ESPN the number one pick in the draft was Cuyler Murray they elected to move on from the coach and the quarterback that day elected to go with a year ago. Now, it's cliff kings burying Cuyler Murray. What do you think the NFL future has in store for? For the Heisman Trophy winner. He's dynamic claim acreage to make all the throws very allusive. The question's gonna be as you know, when the pocket gets compressed, and he has to make you know, throw some the pocket. How will he do? But he's an exciting dynamic player cliff. Kingsbury got the, you know, the player he wanted how much time do you think? Steve com gets because you move on from the coach move on from the quarterback in less of a year. A how hot is the seat for Steve right now. Yeah. You know, fair question, obviously show some progress this year, this'll be a very important year Steve time, and when we take a look at the rest of the draft of the first three rounds. I follow you on Twitter. And I know you're you're covering each and every pick gimme some impression. So far to the first three rounds? What are some things that stand out the positive way some teams I made some good moves. I did a great job doubling down with offense ally in the first personnel Kayla. Gary Chris Lewis trim. I thought that made a lot of sense, you know, they took a position of weakness made straight. I fought Jacksonville had an incredible drafts James in the second round a guy that could come in and start at right tackle in Josh Allen, who I think's gonna be dominant player to get him at seven. So I thought, you know, those two teams in particular did a really nice job. What do you think of teacher Hopkinson the tight end that went to Detroit? Yeah. I like him. You know, he's a three down player. You know? He's a point of attack tight end that he make plays in the passing game. So I think you have a chance to be Claire. In the raiders made three first round selections. Clearly and the draft the next two years is going to design a lot for Mike Mayock in Jon Gruden a little bit of a surprise that four. But they get a good football player. Also, get a safety and then the running back from Alabama in Jacob's. What do you think? So far of what the raiders are able to do. Yeah. I think Cheryl is gonna come in. You know, he has late. You know, he's made has like the elite quick twitch at some of these other pass rushers but he's a good player with Leith production. Character Jacobs's John gruden's have guy he's a tough runner breaks pundit tackles with marshawn Lynch retiring that pick me last sense. And they'll Joseph had safety has a good book in there with Johnson Abram from Mississippi State. So I thought those were three really solid picks. I love Mayock when he was on the NFL network. And he was always good when he was on with us. Do you believe in Mike Mayock as a general manager now working with Jon Gruden? I do I like him a lot. I think he's a detail guy works, really hard. And I was excited. They got the opportunity on the way out with Mike Tannenbaum who joins us right now on CBS sports radio after bring up tyreek kill. It's a very disturbing situation. We all heard the audio by now. Our he's threatening his fiancee. And they talk about the belt in the punching punishments that he was having with his three year old, son. The sun's removed from the home. Now, more information probably will still come out from this. But I don't know how you keep tyreek hill if you're able to confirm that that is his voice on the audio which it appears to be as someone that has seen a lot of things happen in the National Football League and someone that is also a human being and understands the family relationship involved in it. How do you react to the tyreek hill situation? Yes, exactly think you're using the right word there. Fortunately, it's very disturbing. You know, if these allegations true, it's it's it's tragic. It's it's awful. And you know, there's a couple of different dynamics here, you're gonna have criminal Justice investigation. And then you're gonna have a league investigation under the personal conduct policy. So you know, it was interesting to see the TS draft Harbin Martin she out of Georgia who's very as. Player to hill and T Y Hilton very fast explosive player. And it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Again. You know, there is a presumption of innocence. But these allegations are very serious and very disturbing for me. I would move on from the Kansas City Chiefs. I think that's the only choice that they have to make especially when you hear that audio. And I think we'll get a decision after the draft. But when he was in college he had an incident with the the same woman, his fiancee, he choked and hit her when you go in that pre draft process, you have someone that has a controversial path..

Forty nine percent say draft linemen lineman. All right. So they're going linemen than any of us pick Lyman. I the only one the read the pool. What's right? What's second? Trade down a second grade. That's what I figured they gotta do which will be the most boring thing possible because tomorrow morning, we'll be on now to it to you the the first guy they picked and it'll be no one. It'll be no not. Yeah. That makes. You go to the draft party. Remember that year? My God, they got ho a nobody come back tomorrow. That's the best go and have a great time in the draft party. Because you would you like to drink and frolic and have a good time. You're right. Angelo, hold on for a second. Snippy. Out as you know, there's a gentleman out there that I've tried to find a girlfriend from college. We have we have really what we did. In Fisher you through the line out into the water, and we're waiting for a bike gotten a bite yet. No bite yet. All right. But we have something we think this might work bobber on the it has a bobber and a worm. Yes. Has both of those. All right, anyway, we I do we have yet. We do have yet. All right now, we we have a new system in here now. And it seems like it's harder for us to call people. Yeah. Well, anytime going down with Hicks a little while to get used to things is that what you just have to get you stay with the intelligence yesterday got shocked by doing electrical work. No my landline. Ran it's the first time since I move. You got an a landline and a new home. It was a telemarketer. Now, I'm thinking that I shouldn't have gotten it. Why has it ring? And I got what what is that noise? Even Bentley around. What's that? What was the call? It was my wife. I did pick up my other phone. Okay. Well, that's good. Oh my God. I didn't even realize we did that. No telemarketers. Calling yet. They will when they do. Needed anymore. New picks up the phone and talks these people. I don't know. The lie is with great pride and excitement that I can now stay a man we of admired for years as a brilliant analyst of the game of professional football talker. Yes will be an interest for the Philadelphia preseason games. This year. We are thrilled by Russ Tucker's out of line now. Congratulations Ross Angelo. Thank you, very very much. That means a lot. I am beyond fired up mostly man. I haven't been coming on with you for years. I don't know. I don't know if it would have happened. I think you've been telling everybody how great I am for whatever reason for so many years. I think everybody just finally believed it, but I'm gonna tell you I have been saying because it's absolutely true. You are honest. You are logical. You are brilliant and your knowledge of the game. And you're terrific at communicated get two people Ross Ross you're going to be phenomenal in that job. People are going to love you. This could be a springboard to a network job regular season. That's what I'm feeling. Well, I really appreciate it. You're saying that I'm looking forward to it. As I say to you guys all the time. You know, this is where I grew up doing grew up watching and listening. I remember distinctly being at the jersey shore. And my parents saying Ross we have to go out to dinner now. And I'm like, Nope. It's a third preseason game. I'm watching the whole thing you guys can go. I'm not going. I've been watching every second of these games since I was really little so very very cool that that I get to be the analyst for them now. But he is the one thing I do question I wonder about because you are representing the eagles in that booth. And I'm wondering are you going to be able to be as open and critical when you need to be as you are on our show in another places Ross. I think I am. I think the key Angelo today that is as long as you're fair and as long as you're not taking shots at people. But just saying what you see right? I don't think anybody has a problem with that. I mean, this is pro football. I've been criticized when I was playing and rightfully so. Because I wasn't that great. But I think even the guys 'cause I know a lot of the guys on the team. I think if they mess up if they have a bad play, you know, they're totally fine with me being fair and explaining what happened, you know, where they need better production who they need to play better. You know where their weaknesses are on the team. I think they're fine with that. You just can't be you know, name calling or taking shots at specific guys as much as explaining what they did. Well, and what they didn't do. Well, I mean, look you can ask me anything right now when I'll tell you exactly right. Thank you. Well, that's why we always book you on a show because you're so honest and so now. Knowledgeable in what you say. And I'm the say way, I don't think name calling gets anything accomplish. That's why I've never done that never plan. But but let me get onto tonight's draft. Everybody has we have Bill warned. It's Bill Wordell considers tonight Christmas morning. Do you get real excited about the draft horse? You know, I really do. And I'm not sure why it is. I think there's a couple of things one is it's been almost three months since we had a football game. And so I'm just anxious to do something NFL wise. I talk about the draft and the off season moves on my shows every single day. So for me. And so it's like, okay. We can finally actually see what happens and stop talking about what the Arizona Cardinals might do for the New York Giants might do for me. It's almost it's on some level opening up the presence. But it's also almost a relief that we can finally actually see what happens and comment on what actually happened as opposed to speculating. So I love it. I I'm also a big college football fan. And it's the two things that go together. Plus, you know, almost even more. So than the games. Nobody really knows what's going to happen. Really it really unfolds in a unique way each and every year nobody ever gets more than like six picks on their mock draft, actually, correct. It's a fascinating thing. And also to see Angelo who's been lying and who's been telling the truth. The last couple of weeks is always fun to I. Well, I'm I know I'm asking you something that you just set six out of thirty two is a good number any read right now any sense for what the eagles might do it number twenty five. Well, I will tell you this. Okay. Them having to second round picks at number fifty three and fifty seven I think is huge because they can get one of the two or three best running backs if they won as well as one of the two or three best safeties or two or three best receivers. I believe in the fifties. Maybe four or five best receivers, which is why I actually think they're most likely to take defensive lineman at twenty five because if you look at their two picks in the second round ngelo, you know, fifty three and fifty seven I think they could get like the running back from Penn State miles Sanders or the kid from Memphis, or I think they could get maybe, you know, one of the top safety, Darnell savage from Maryland or Johnson Abram from Mississippi State. So even though those positions where I think that the eagles would like to add people, you know, Malcolm's not getting any young. Anger. I think they'd like to add another running back. They can get like one of the three or four best guys to position in the second round. That's not the case along the defensive line. So I actually think and this has been how each fluffy and eagles flossy for a long time. I think the most likely scenario at twenty five is they take a defensive lineman. Maybe it's Montas wet for Mississippi State, if he falls because of the heart issue and eagles are okay with that. Maybe it's one of the Clemson kids Dextra Lawrence. The detachable would look great next to Fletcher Cox or Cleveland feral, maybe even the defense event. So I think it's gonna be Delima n- just because of the way the board plays out, and the fact that their next biggest needs safety and running back. We'll still be plentiful in the second round. I'm going to turn the clock back year. Now back playing in the NFL and it's training camp. And the number one pick comes into practice with you guys. Did you ever go out on that field and see the guy the first day and say to yourself? I don't see it that you ever. I mean, that's when a team really starts to figure out if they made a mistake or not in the draft that you ever experienced a first round pick on a team you play dot they went. I don't think so. Yes. And and not only just first round picks. But first second third round picks really stood a time most of the time. Angelo, you can tell the first couple of days why and the same thing, by the way, the same thing for like an undrafted kid that you're like, wow. He ross. Jason peters. You know, what's interesting about that? He was playing tight end rea-. So no, not really within. Right. Right. But as a rookie he was still playing tight end. So I guess I just thought who is three hundred twenty pound kid that is playing tight end number one. And then number two so how how can a guy that big that fast? And then they had him on kickoff team and stuff like that. So I guess I could just tell that Jason was unique and special, but as a player, I didn't notice it till midway through the year the second they moved them to offensive line. And he was better in five minutes, and I've been in eighteen years. Plain offensive line that that's when I knew I had a problem. I will say this though, rear ngelo. You know, I just think they remember when I was at the Cowboys I guy being so awful at the first minicamp me thinking, he was a terrible terrible third round pick and was going to be a bust, and it was Jason Witten. Sometimes. So so Angelo dance your point district question..

"Welcome back. I'm Jim Rome. All right. So again, it felt wrapped up coming. We're trying to get as many top prospects on this program prior to the draft as we possibly can. I've got another one for you right here. A former safety at Mississippi State and all American first team all SEC player one hundred and seventy tackles fourteen tackles for loss. Five sacks and three fumbles forced plus two interceptions in the last two seasons. The twenty nine thousand nine NFL draft is April twenty fifth through April twenty-seventh. It's in Nashville, Tennessee, Jonathan Abram is my guest Jonathan really good to have you on you. I'm pretty good. How 'bout you miss? I'm great, man. I'm great good. Here. You listen. You got a couple of more months away from the start of the draft and only two days from the start of the combine. So bring us up to date. How has your life right now? Right now, we're pretty much kinda D load and going into the Combi. So I mean, we've been taking your county wasting thing. As far as like, I say drought Predrag. I mean, pre combine workouts and things of that nature. So it's pretty much slowing down getting ready for the come on. All right, then in addition to that, you're getting a lot of attention. You're getting a lot of run as potentially the best safety in the draft. How do you go about dealing with that do you like that attention or maybe you try to block it all out? I mean, I do like their attention because I mean, it's true. But I mean, you can't let it get to you. So I mean what I've been doing is just been staying humble just working more. There you go. I can go out improved it on the grounds. Because I mean, no matter what anybody says you have to prove it you got to prove it. And you gotta believe it Jonathan Abrams guest. Now, one of the things that's really obvious from watching you on film is that you're not at all fair contact at all. In fact, it looks like you really like to hit where does the approach come from. I really don't know growing up. You know, I was always I wasn't aggressive care. But I mean, always like contact, and you know, just playing football the right way to be play more than. Data at the same time. The NFL is a game of football. It is changing. So how do you balance that aggressive approach on the field without drawing penalties? Me, and my coaches previously. We worked all lorrimore strike you guys. Be hit in the lower lower grisly areas. The go-to by the way as far as keeping my head of seeing what I hit target. 'cause like you said, you know, the game is changing, but his ways around, and if you talk to the correct way injuries, you prevent the person getting hurt, and you you don't create Jonathan Abram. Joining us getting ready for the combine and the NFL draft plays college. Mississippi state. Listen, look at your background and you played your high school ball at east Marion in Mississippi. What are those routes mean to you, and what it means to be representing that area and following in the footsteps of the guys who came before you only means a lot to me now with one of the reason why upside and stay home even junior college because I had the chance to go pretty much anywhere searching for me. I wanted to be one of those guys that represented my state from Mississippi State. It means a lot of my family back home. All my friends. Nobody reaches out to me. Tell me how proud of him proud of me that they are. And you know, a lotta guys that came before me like Bobby Helms say he played in the NFL four year. Our guys that go overlooking like career breath. He's from. He's really from Columbia Mississippi. The great wall to pay. So it means a lot to media represent my area. And you know, trying to build up my resume to be one of the great day. You know, the kids look up to and want to be like one day. We're talking to you Abram. You have no idea how happy that made me that you mentioned Terrell Buckley like when you were being recruited Louisville was very interested. The story goes to Todd Grantham antibody were all over you. And then you were recruited junior college. As you mentioned I mentioned teapot because he was at Mississippi State. He's one of my favorite guys ever literally ever. What was it like being recruited by Terrell Buckley and playing defense with him on the staff? It was really funny because he was first actually my off outta high school to Liu. So he was seventy because that's what plenty of with my Smith. I ended up deciding to go to Georgia. So he me. I mean, you know, we still talk because I like I said we were pretty close coming out of high school. We haven't being from Columbia. And so we just couldn't take. And it was a, you know, he he was always upset me that decided to go to George pretty at the same time. So we had the time. I was gonna transfer. He was all over the he would not let me get away. So and that's where we end up. We always laugh and joke. He never let me get away to do. If you've done that to him twice if you had done that team twice that would not have gone. He would've been. Oh, you're too young. To know what he was great. I mean, he he used to catch. He was you know, just talking to some of the guys that play with him. You know, like, they say, you know, he was they talked a lot. He would overshadow by prime time. When he was there for the guys who say, we know he forgot the Green Bay. A lot of fans, but the first time you got in on the proletarian took it like seventy yards at out job. I'm so glad that you know, that that's his deal, man. He made plays. Now, he gave up some plays. But he plays. He was electric. I'm kind of curious I t buck in middle age. What's he like now? Well, he's still talks trash. Mary listening, you still try you? He was trying to go out there and race you feel for three years. Over. So go out there. You know, can your spring take it gives them every time because he always makes them go. He's movement. And by the time, they go. That is incredible. That is such a good story Jonathan Abrams joining us. I'm glad to hear mom antibody has not changed that much now after your time at Georgia. You went to junior college. And then in Mississippi State every time I have somebody on from Mississippi State. We talk about life in starkville. What was stark Vegas like for you? For me. I mean, I love Vegas because. You know, it's a it's an agricultural school. So it's pretty country. You know, coming Columbia. I'm a country, boy, I like hunting fishing and things of that nature. So for me, it was relaxed. It's a quiet place. But at times, you know, you can go out and have fun for me. That's one thing. I didn't really focus on, you know, going for me was like strictly a business trip. Now got my degree. I the whole situation, and I ended up having great years there. So that was my main motto just going in here. Just working going to accomplish what I need to come. Jonathan Abram is my guest may ask about your teammate Jeffrey Simmons he was expected to be an early pick. And then he'd last week in training. What was your reaction when you heard that? Economy me, you know, like once it happened. You know, we just saw. I told him he got a free situation. He's been doing much worse. Change his life. You know, what you know ahead. Just merely a bump in a row. And you know, we talked about it. You know, you're still going to Jesse because feel speaks for sale high character guy, he's got you won't have on your team. And so, you know, he realized that he he's gonna lose somebody, you know, with all injury. But I told me happen. There's nothing he can do about it. You just gotta make the best out of the situation. And as is merely what life is you can't control everything, but things do happen to you gotta make the best out of them. And so we stand positive. Yes. Surgery yesterday. So everything went well. You know, he he was the best of luck at the combine, you know, everybody working your body. You know, I'm gonna tell the same thing. You know, he's the guy you want your team your team. And that's not because I'm he's my teammates as because of the type of person, you're great guy. I love playing. I definitely would help whoever draft. Now, take him whatever rounded they decide to take. Sean when he does come back. He's gonna come back a hundred times better. Johnson Abram is my guest. Listen before you go. There's another level to what you're doing right now. And if you're okay with this. I wanna ask you about something that you're involved with the T t s foundation even raising money for each bench press reps that you get at the combine for the twin to twin transfusion syndrome foundation when you and your wife were expecting twins. There was a diagnosis of stage three t t s what is your know about that at that time in what was it like to hear that news at the moment? I mean when it first happened. I was just really confused because I mean, I really know about it. We're coming into. Now. I was still cover. You know, having a kid. So you know, I knew about people having all the time for twins was kind of new to me. So I was kind of wrapping my head around the whole situation and then. It was even scarier because you know, my wife, she was really sad. You know, we really didn't know what to do when the foundation reached out and. The wind up having natty or a couple of cathedrals and things of that nature. They just were big help and my wife, actually, she ended up meeting. One of the women who were in the foundation with her at the hospital, and it was like they just were major helped cook. And so I just want to do anything. I can't possible to help them in any way. So now, I'm going out to my real thin. Foundation hoping to you know, create more awareness for better treatment. Anything that I can possibly go. What I get her money of my own I plan to donate again Johnson Abram. I guess I gotta ask you. I mean, this is something that is so painful, and because of that you and your family very easily could have kept his private, which you've taken on a role you want to help others. Why was that something that was so important to you? 'cause I mean every day I just wake up, and I looked at my daughter, and she was born three months premature. So he was always. Ma..

"Milwaukee will not be there for a few more weeks. So they will not have a home game. Until February the fourteenth, sixteen minutes and forty three seconds left. Northern Kentucky on an eight zero start to the second half. And it's thirty eight thirty four while you knew they would make a run. Here. It is. A big part of this game big points in this game four point deficit, obviously. But they've got momentum northern Kentucky right now as much momentum as they had all night. The Panthers would benefit from a basket here. Kinda quiet this crowd. Again, that's been pretty quiet up until this eight oh star to the half twenty on the shot clock. Roy Sessoms Johnson Abram and right on the floor. Carry us nothing on the attack left. Into the hands of right out at the top not Abram out of the circle he had nine in the first half. Johnson facing up McDonald pulls up and silencer from the baseline. Oh that'll quiet. This crowd right now. Vance Johnson playing off not respecting Donald playing off of Johnson. Speaking of McDonald's, here's a three and he hits. He's got eighteen. He's got four threes. Five point lead. Forty one thirty six. Eleven to two Panthers outscored to start the second half, ROY bumps the ball ricochets out its last touched by ROY. Oh goodness service contact there. Fifteen fifty six left, and we'll have another timeout. A lot of contact. But.

"Sixty six sixty five forty two seconds left Panthers down one western Michigan possession at our left. A twelve second differential between the shot clock and the game clock. Twenty two shoots flowers. Right-wing fifteen to shoot jab step baseline pull up. Ten footer is short rebound. Vance Johnson in the Panthers. They have a timeout left. Shot clock is off now. Milwaukee can look to win it fourteen seconds left. I don't think they're going. Take the time out ten seconds. Roy at the top drives layup blocked. Vance Johnson put back. Good five point six seconds left. Western michigan. Are they going to take time out? They will. But Vance Johnson has given Milwaukee the lead on an offensive rebound and put back with five point six seconds left. This is the first lead for the Milwaukee Panthers. In the second half, sixty seven sixty six. It's a sixty second time out taken by the Broncos. The officials are going to see if any additional time should be added to the clock. As Vance Johnson. Collects Milwaukee's fourth offensive rebound of the game. And they are going to. Six tenths of a second back. So they're going to go six point two. Wow. Six point two seconds left. Western Michigan ball Panthers up one. Amir Alan Jackson for the Panthers Broncos have no timeouts left. Remember? You've got to imagine flowers. Right. He's there leading score. He's their best player. They've got a lot of good ones, but flowers creates for himself better than anybody. It's got to be him to take the shot, right? They've got to go the length of the floor mind. You Barnes ROY Johnson Abram Allen defensively for Milwaukee Wilkins to inbound. He can run the baseline with six seconds left. Six point two Panthers..

"So much abra missed the first free throw. He gets to more. How many times you see a three point shot blocked in the first place? Let alone when you're seven foot seven foot. Don't leave your feet just go there and. He's your fan will. I'm sure the coaches taught him that. And again, as you say, you get caught up in the moment, and it's too bad because right? He's tall enough. And you're only six feet you have to jump the block shots. He doesn't have to do that. And in the Panthers advantage, obviously. So we don't mind it at all Abram hit the second. He'll get a third. We're back to even at fifteen. And two out of three for de'andre Abram. Abram has a team high six in Milwaukee. Forges back ahead sixteen fifteen eight twenty five and counting first half. Norton's? Been quiet gives it up between the wheels Wilkins right back Norton for three and he did. No sooner the words out of my mouth. The Nick Norton gets his first basket tonight. Eighteen sixteen Drake little over eight minutes to go. Norton had missed his first shot before hitting that threes. Played ten minutes. So far Johnson Abram touch pass Barnes right back for Abram. Three ball rather the wheel short flat-footed board for Nick Norton. How the Panthers have gone cold from two hundred nine Wilkins left wing three. Roles off fighting for the rebound icebox out inside mcglinchey back out. There are thir- Williams. Kept him on his backside comes more Newsom back for Bobby and he'll pop three and that's off the front rim. No good. Still in eighteen sixteen Drake lead. Under seven and a half to go Norton shows it right on the late Brunson and a taller Arthur Williams takes to the corner and rattles in a three. Well. Catch fire in a hurry. And he has now. Twenty one sixteen Drake has the lead. Sports sits in a row.

I didn't make that rule. I don't want to break anymore rules that get into more trouble. How did you banned for life? Visit mentioned, did I miss it now? Playing. Yeah. Can't be, you know what he did. He started a pornography center at that school. It can't be. You can't do everything. Hackers did can't explain how you got into the like they did. Johnny Miller, though he got the righteous hack dude, and then he was fucking from the internet. Zero cooled. Did real time to do real time should know should did like kid real time candidate crash override. These are better hacker names than action, man and Kedah. Dog I can't even, but he does introduce k. dog here because it does call k. dot while he's doing the right just hacked k. dog a kid. This kid Johnson Abrams. He's the dude who played Bobby, the boyfriend in a scary movie. Oh, he's the brother in those meet the parents? Yes, yes, he's everywhere. I've seen him. I mean, he's yeah, cabinet seen keta have seen them. This is also wretchedly Canadian, like it's big time. Is it? Is it officially set in Canada? Not not. Oh, I can tell you though, because once I see Callum, Keith, Randy, I know we're in Canada. Callum, Keith Rennie in this, the really bad British drill guy. Oh Jesus. Are you kidding me? That was Callum Keith? Yeah, it was. We were looking for a slimmer cut back then. So that's what county do him. Yeah, that's the coke. Wait. For good old. Okay. That accent is atrocious. So you k dog is buddy, so we cut to going to school. We find out he's he's skateboarding with his sister and he's got her on a leash basically. And this is when youth America would just from the screen movie comes on, yes, they play this tune when everybody's going to the party it stews house. Like in the end of the second act of that movie, I of two times used in this movie. I don't know. It's entirety both times. The clock. You can't stop on a song like that. It's a great tune. One great moment of him going to the school is there's a security guard that he obviously has a prior relationship short. Short. Yeah, it's it's the security guard is how we learned that he was banned for life from this campus fucking persona, non grata, dude, but also like the ideas I have to take my sister to school. Okay, you're at school? There's the door, but it's like actually, she said class being a piece of shit, but also that's annoying for you. The girl don't you want to shed this dead weight and get get on campus? Just my older stepbrother with his disgusting haircut is dumb fucking steam punks. We just don't know how to watch movies. She obviously wants to be exactly like of course, don't you see the stupid skateboard scene where he goes down the steps and then she, yes, they do have the same haircut as well and just like, oh God. So yes, she's, they take her there. And at this point we do see Patrick Stewart, it's him and Brenda Frick? Yes. Pigeon lady from home alone to among other things and also for me, I'm sure that's. That's the problem with, like my experience, British actress. Oh, man, captain Picard. And the. Peaking lady and they both have like fucking twelve baptism piece have played every Shakespearean character of the world. Oh my gosh. That's perfect..
