"Leader That was Gabe Kapler talking about Wilmer floors in a play that happened in the fifth inning, it was 1st and 3rd. Johnny Cueto give up a hit to Nick Comet, and then Jake Lamb hit one to right field made it 1st and 3rd. With nobody out. And then John J. Popped up foul to Ah Ah Longoria. So it was one out with 1st and 3rd and a little craft like Castro up with his speed. He did a safety. Squeeze. And sure enough, assuming laid down that was Wilbur floors coming in with a Crick quick hand, pick up the ball glove and making a nice throw to trump at home plate to get the play of plate. And that's what Gabe Kaplan was talking about. Everybody harps on Flores when he played third base, see Buddhists and balls early in the year that he played second base, booted a couple more. I ended up just being the designated hitter and then next start talking about flipping him when left hand pictures were throwing and sure enough, he played first base and then he made a great play A nice, quick hands. Quick hands. You've got to be real quick. And make that throw words so lower to the ground where Trump could get it. Pulled a glove down and get the guy out at home. And let me tell you, man, Nick comets pretty quick. So that was a bang, bang play all around, and it was a great play all overall. On going back, Tio floors. I mean, when you're seeing that ball bunted, and we saw it in highlights where he was coming in on the ball, and I'm not coming down the line. You're seeing everything in front of you, and it's your decision to pick up that ball and make the players Momenta MME was going to home plate. And that's what the key was there any type of first baseman coming and you have to make that play and just like Gabe Kaplan said. That really was a big out because if they score there It's again first in second and, of course, Jake Lamb. What came overto the third base on that or second base? It was Bill it would have made the momentous go back to the Diamondbacks. And sure enough, it didn't And sure enough, Johnny Cueto pitched out of it. He ended up getting bases loaded like Castro ended up getting a fielder's choice. He walked Cole Calhoun to get around him. And then it really was a one on one against Peralta Peralta coming in to the game old for 12 against Johnny Johnny Johnny Cueto and got a base hit in the first inning. And he was one for 14 going into that bat. And sure enough, he worked him into a 32 count. Bases loaded and he threw a changeup. And why did he throw a changeup? Well, let me tell you, why throws a changeup. When Johnny Cueto throws a third strike changeup. Hitter's opposing hitters are hitting 0.94 off. The change of that means he is surprising him. Plus the balls dipping down. So you think about that stat 0.94. When he gets a strikeout, throw a changeup and sure enough hitters aren't looking forward and he's getting many strikeouts by. Of course, today he had seven strikeouts. So ah, Another good outing by Johnny Cueto didn't get the wind didn't get the loss, Got a no decision. But at the same time, a good all around game for the pitching staff get away can be our if you want to get on the phone lines, Let's talk some baseball. Let's go to Santa Cruz and talk to Brian this afternoon. Good afternoon, Brian, How are you? I'm good, Mr Lasky. How are you? I'm doing good after a win. "Place of Chuck Norris. I don't think you take the place of him I. Think you just fall into the job nobody can take Chuck Norris Job, right? Right. Remember we used to love that show like well, that was one of my favorite shows and I was a kid Walker Texas Ranger, but it definitely had it's like crazy jump the shark moments in the later seasons which like when you go back and watch them now it's amazing. So he starts off regular Texas Ranger and Later like last episode. There's a psychic boy that can move powers stuff with his power and he's got to help him. Understand that feeling when you're watching these things because there was a really amazing movie about vehicles, guys at boo stuff vehicles and has their story progresses we learn more about them. They become like a world class tactical team that takes on world governments and saves US doom? Essentially the avengers with cars. That stuff happens. In whatever watched Walker Texas Ranger does Chuck Norris do like karate and stuff or does he just like do karate? Kicks. Got, down, to just doing the big wrangler like I don't know how he can get his leg that high in those tight wrangler jeans but he was able to do it. That's the real movie magic on that one. Zero. Todd Gut supposed to be released soon right top gun but I mean, they're holding offer they. I think those are backed up. I don't know if we've got our hard released eight on that because I. would. Go for that that you need that sound like that is something that you can't really watch at home you need to be engulfed in all of that sound like watching on the big screen that I'm excited for and that I might just give us some Chilean vitam over same thing. So Carlos, you still have not seen the original topgun heavier now come on. Date you gotta set a date you should. Watch it before the other are you going to see the new one? The Double Deuce that's The worst part in all of all America and they gotta get Patrick. swayze. Dole's namely Dalton Dalton. I just watched read down the other day for the first time the original red dawn on. It's a weird movie because like when you watch like today's movies and go back to this, it's so actually slow moving and it was it was ended the guns and there's no violence really and it was just like this. This is a good movie I don't know. Because, I can watch roadhouse and I'm like roadhouse still holds up a movie red down for some reason I was watching it was like. Just not doing it for me. What am I missing? Triangle Hockey Original Star Wars movie I tried to I tried to do that with my daughter and I said let's Watch Star Wars. That's GonNa be Great and within twenty minutes my daughter goes does this pick up And it does it. It really doesn't. I tried to Rewatch it as well and I I found to be slow is waiting for something to happen. But you know as as time goes on, we expect more action more stuff and and yeah some of that stuff's hard to to take these days. Yeah, it was really looking forward to going wow, this is going to be a really fun thing and a lot of I love that Hollywood is being forced to give us stuff at home now. So we can watch we can look forward to seeing these great things instead of hoping that the next season of something's going to be good they're giving us just movies to watch at home. "Jesus is introduced he's down by the river. He gets dunked by Johnny Johnny Johnny B. We've talked about that baptism story. Links in many other discussions what I want to pay attention to is the short little detail of what happened to Jesus after the baptism. Some Mark chapter. One versus twelve and thirteen we read immediately the spirit cast out Jesus into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness, forty days being tested by the Satan. And he was with the wild beasts and the angels were serving or ministering to him. And then next story. That's yes, over then the next door is you have like a longer version of this Iraq, Matthew. Luke, look, this is very interesting. What's often? It's called temptation Jesus test temptation narrative of going out into the wilderness in. Yeah. In the most well known versions are Matthew's and Luke's which records the whole he hold back and forth back and forth between Jesus in the slanderer or the devil. It's often translated we're gonna talk about that next. But marks version doesn't have a narrative about what happened. Yeah. No, it just gives us to details. Three details. He's in the wilderness. First of all cast out by the spirit. It's a strong verb. What do you mean, a strong verb? It's a verb. It's a forceful verb. Arrive someone out. Yeah. We're gonna see it's the verb. Mark twose's. Very intentional. Okay. What's what is in Greek Eck Bala Bala blooming to throw? Okay. And then Acas throw out to throw out. Yeah. So the spirits rose Jesus out a wilderness seal later out of here. Well, or it's just drives him. I guess the idea is it he had to okay, he was forced to force into wilderness detail one. He was there forty days being tested by the Satan detail to he was with wild animals out there detail three angels were serving him. That's all Mark gives us this home. And then the next thing is now after John was taken into custody. Jesus went into galley proclaiming the good news of God. So in March storyline you're left to fill in. You're just supposed to know. Okay. We have Jesus who's the son? The son of God cya going out in the wilderness to be tested by the power of evil. Andy's with wild animals and angels are serving him so going out to the wilderness. That is the motif we've talked about correct? And that the wilderness. Is is a place of testing testing. Correct. Israel goes into the wilderness to the promised land. Right. Cain is driven into the wilder driven into the wilderness. Exiled after he kills his brother. So that's easy for me to pick up on. Yep. Yep. And human Adam and eve are exiled cast out into the will in two east of forced out. Exactly. Right. And in fact, in the old Greek translation of Genesis when God drives out, Adam and eve, and when he drives out Cain. The bar verb is Ballo this exactly the same verb. Yeah..

"Tonight's cover story and WGN TV news at night. Got to get to the most have person on the planet here in just a second. But I want to read one text, you know, again, the techs are great three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred keeping common. But this is what I'm talking about with folks, and, you know, attitudes. You're living in a dreamland Stephen used to vote but gave it up because as soon as somebody gets into congress or the house that go along with the same old same old they lie through their pretty little smiles. They tell you what they're gonna do. And then they do it interests are paying them to do when they get there. So you got to quit. Right. Both those people out until you find somebody who stands up Republican or democrat or independent somebody who goes there. Listen, you want term limits you on tax relief. You want your kids to have a better future. You want to to save the country. You got vote. I get that a lot of it sucks. I'm the one that said the sisters broken you got a better solution than voting. That's the only solution unless you want to get a bunch of burning clubs. Well, I'll get on a bus will go to DC. It'll look great at TV. But that's not how we change things in this country. Why don't we do the Steve Cochran plan of everybody shows there's somebody that shows up at everyone's door. You cannot leave this morning until you give us about. Why even let's forget, the registered you. Everybody's got about. Let's go. I think Uber's doing free rides to the polls is that internet nonsense is that happening. Try it out. I think that's true. Check that Aaliyah got election judge on the phone. I don't know if she's calling to hear Justice new material, Debbie. Good morning. Hi, good morning. I just wanted to add to what you're saying about how easy it is to to vote in Illinois. How easy they make it to register online. I want the listeners to know. You can also vote right at the polls on that day. All you need to do is bring your state ID or driver's license, and one other piece of mail utility, Bill a phone Bill tax Bill anything else that proved your your residents on your state ID or or driver's license, and you can vote right there while you're in line and register right there in that moment, I wanted everybody to know that I'm glad you did, Debbie. Thank you very much, by the way, if Justin were to come to your particular polling place and do five minutes of material. Would you enjoy that you enjoy this move? Do you get do you get any voters like this who will say Debbie who we vote for Torney general, no know what the election? Judges are not allowed to. Justice. They laugh they laugh. You can bring us apples and sandwiches. There you go. There you go, Debbie. Thank you for listening. Appreciate it. You bye jokes because they can't Steve I can confirm that Uber and lift are offering free rights rides to the polls. That's it's part of an effort called drive the vote. That's great for them could for both them. Thank you for that. Most valuable person on the planet for Tuesday, October two thousand eighteen is. Johny boucher. Really nothing. I'm Johnny Bush round up for Ralph Johnny Johnny Johnny rent. Something called Chicago sip of hope let me get Johnny on the air here. Johnny what a great name, Johnny Boucher. Thank you. Thank you. It's better than what a lot of solicitors used to say a Bucher butcher. Ever got it. Right. Got it. Right. We know how poorly we take care of folks who have mental health concerns in the state, and I think come around to the idea that it's as serious as heart disease or cancer or anything else. And we got to treat it that way. So tell us what you do at Chicago sip of hope. Yes. So Sipa pope is a social enterprise is actually owned by hope for the day. The suicide prevention charity that I started. And it does a couple of things one it provides a safe state. So the community and it encouraged people by wearing a good Cup of coffee. Our good friends. The dark matter coffee are on this, and we decided to revolutionize a project that we started a couple of years ago where we took over our all you coffee bag, we put resources that had the national find numbers and to help, and we started selling it here locally and whole foods. And because for the day has never received dollar from the state of Illinois, and we really can't wait for that to happen. We decided to take action in their own hands in we raised about one hundred fifty five thousand dollars he opened up the world's first coffee. Shop one hundred percent of the proceeds sports suicide prevention and mental health. Education. And it is it's really our answer to what society starts really is needing to have. Because of how important mental health is coming and how they're like you said, there's such a lack of resources, you know, we used to have a lot more clinics in the city people don't know how to ask for help didn't know how to access health exactly even if you have even have helped the healthcare, you still, you know, it's it's like playing maze online just to try and get sore you need to be. So for us. You know, our job is to be on the front line and hope for the day's mission is to be proactive about suicide prevention education to the point that we get in the front of it before it impacts our lives, and at Sipa pope, we have a resource wall 'cause releasing the visibility of local and national resources. We also free mental health education workshops across street at each public, cloudy library, shadow tar partners there, and we we we do this because we know it's what is needed. But at the same time, we're looking at something that is just really a copy shop at at the bare structure of it. And we are just beyond a thrill because every single day the coffee shop gets filled with people from all around the city walks of life. Whether you're a clinician, whether your family who's lost so many suicide whether you just come in by because you wanna get dark coffee because let's face it. Life is too short major combat coffee. So it's just all these different ways. But. You know, really it goes back to the core of hopes today's vision, which is just by meeting people where they're not worry expect him to be we're going to be able to educate empower equipped tend to be proactive, whether it's about their own mental health, or maybe a friend of family, or maybe they just wanted to know how to look out for one another more because when we think about mental health that conversation has been completely displaced society where Johnny changing that you and your focus change in that. And and and it starts with one place having the guts and the wherewithal in the initiative to do this. So I want people to come see at thirty thirty nine west Fullerton avenue. Open seven days a week six in the morning till nine at night. There's people that care spend your coffee money there in the city thirty thirty nine west Fullerton. Thank you for being the most valuable person on the planet. That's a guy getting it done. Johnny boucher. All right headlines next seven twenty WGN. Everyone knows that we have a.

Houston now major Applewhite does he's considered the best player. In, college football for a reason he's good he's gonna make a lot of money as a pro yeah Number one is that Oliver number two Bryce love. From Africa around the. Game then I think probably game Tom. Herman the job at, Texas win that Houston team, outplayed, Oklahoma all, over the place and. He was unstoppable he. Was he was a freshman at the time and he's a. Defensive lineman. Bryce love of Stanford the running back really good number. Two Number three is will Greer the West, Virginia quarterback longhorns got very, fortunate last year remember. He was on he was on the field and, walked down the field to. Score and he dives in the end zone and breaks of His finger then they were, able to come, back he. Stays on the field they lose that day. Christian Wilkins the defensive. Lineman for Clemson, is for extra Lawrence defensive tackle. For Clemson is number five Nick. Bosa the defensive end. For Ohio State is six who's really good Jonathan Taylor the running back for Wisconsin is really good he's rated number seven Rashad gray the defensive lineman for Michigan. Number eight trace McSorley the. Quarterback who's fun to. Watch this, guy is really fun to watch for Penn State he's ranked number nine and number ten. Is a. Former Baylor bear now a member of Auburn, Warragul Jarret stidham, of Stephenville. Texas I believe me from Stephenville he's number. Ten in the country I. Don't know about that but okay Looking looking. For longhorns looking looking looking, looking. Looking Down west Virginia's got a. Wide. Receiver it's, down year for quarterbacks in college football, I mean last year was like a. Banner year and then. This is a down year I didn't realize this. This is how bad it is for Johnny Manziel I think. ESPN thinking the man's l. would drive some numbers I think, they started televising. Canadian, games or maybe just his I don't know. Yes. Being that on Friday night? We were watching yeah is it every, Friday night I don't know if it's every Friday but this Friday night was he got traded from Hamilton. Because? He couldn't beat out the guy, for, hamels, right June Jones's coach of Hamilton the former SMU coaching for him he couldn't be not the guy at. Hamilton Yeah And you're gonna tell me he's going to be in the. NFL You know hope springs eternal okay He couldn't, win the, starting job, at. Hamilton And went to Montreal The Alouette and then six. Series through four picks, now. There are terrible terrible so he may not even be able to play, for Hamilton nor Montreal What's left How do you go from that to? The NFL I'd like to. Hear this You don't really don't know No that's like batting To, be? The, Astros next right You don't I mean that's I wasn't aware that they got rid of. Him because he couldn't beat out the guy that at, Hamilton is, not exactly, Tom, Brady, butterflies nerves Sner nerves, nerves man give him another shot their Montreal Alouette Sure I, mean I don't know four out of six and six series is. Nerves Nerves oh yeah okay see the bag of about twelve thousand people he started the game when he put, the ball between the three and the, two of, that Hamilton tarry by backer but he did it. Again and, again and again he played six series in three or four picks That's pretty hard to do very tough That's it can't. Get much worse and they pulled. Him they otherwise they left him in he would have played ten series and donate. Picks the way it looked. To me Johnny Johnny Johnny. John just, think, it wasn't all that long. Ago, he was almost the first pick for the Dallas Cowboys daddy but down that card daddy put, it down now instead Cleveland I mean David I want a big daddy no he. Didn't, even survive a rookie contract with the Browns at world. By the tail my friend it's. Tough to give back to the NFL when you're flame out with the bliss yeah Max go to die less than a, year you go to Hamilton you can't beat out some guy named a solely in. Hamilton Yeah And they get rid of you in? Hamilton And how how expensive is the bottle of wine that we're wagering on this, NFL was I think it was fifty dollars. Fifty bone farmed how it was fifth bull and I think you had him playing on a team, in December as in few weeks from. Now I had him back on on roster he did at it back on his. Not, going to be. On the Montreal roster oh come on. Jeff don't be so hard on the guy I watched where nation of second chances and snore You got. A chance you could get the job at Hamilton Anymore jobs do you? Get going to be driving Uber in Montreal before the before October hard. Knocks. Training camp with the Browns begins tomorrow night on HBO okay just wanted to. Have already announced the Baker Mayfield will. Not be there starter. I thought that. Was. Kind. Of interesting probably a smart. Thing good for him yeah yeah just. Lets you lay low they've announced he will not be here. We can tell you this much going to be the starter I think it's kind of. A smart move I do sure you don't wanna throw somebody Right Leave him. Alone don't was that from that brilliant, coach Hugh Jackson says one and thirty. One, yes you gotta cut, Johnny I don't know if he was even. There, with Johnny was there I just I I. Watched him I watched, every snap. Just. Fasten no instead of metex, about football? You were, I was I have got a good glass. Of wine, I said I figured you were really interested in this where, he is and I was. Just shocked About the are incomplete passes were shocking yeah the, arm strength was so bad I don't know I usually a guy who flames out in the NFL can go to. League, like that and do pretty well And. I, thought well if. He does well here I mean all of a sudden we're onto something here you're going to be excited yeah And I think NFL teams watched. They watched some oh I. Think Forget it it's over move on can those guys I'm sure, they. Can't admit they just. Up and leave their contracts and Canada Canada the average is sixty I believe. That now I think the league minimum is fifty or sixty fifty Warren Moon had two quarterback. In Canada for Doug Flutie for. A, while, before, they came right and then my question is Jonny. Lee Kenny Jeff. Come, more weeks Oh I see you gotta. Go, get, a, big deal with Oh okay there's sure Ori Niners, drive their, bus now come. On, don't be cruel. Yes I think mantra I. Would. Say I'm sorry. Kid. You wanna. Leave, okay. Go ahead Can we. Get our stuff back please, go. Before you pull. The. North Carolina I don't know what the contractual obligations army I would think he'd have to play. It out in most cases unless you want these guys signed in the minimum I. Think they have to have a, certain number Canadian players and hard to do Looking at. Some of those guys that look like they catch you on watching hockey players Austin Texas yeah Jeff Ward and Ed..

"Stanford University shows that intense multitasking decreases the efficiency of completing a given job That is. Hardly surprising. If you focus you will obviously by definition provide greater attention to the subject at hand But I suppose for many this will be very disturbing Not that they'll be objecting to the truth of. It as much as they just want to hear it I like to dabble in this that whatever all simultaneously. And I'd like to pretend, as well as I was A previous. Studies demonstrated the divided attention may adduce poor performance on exams but. To researchers this time from Rutgers University tried to dive deeper the lead researcher for the study Dr Arnold. Glass and a professor of psychology at Rutgers so he's long been intrigued by the notion of technology enhanced classrooms I was always interested. In using technology in the classroom before it existed but when it became apparent that it was affecting the classroom it raised the question of. What effect this was having well study published in the. Journal of educational psychology the two researchers divided one hundred eighteen upper level college. Students into two groups each enrolled in the same course taught the same material by the same instructor in the, same classroom at. Roughly the same time of day so all the variables had been accounted for the difference one group was allowed to. Have laptops and cell phones open for non-classroom purposes and the other group, was not the, group using the cell phones and laptops scored about half a letter grade lower on, exams the difference between passing or failing for some of. The the difference for getting into a good graduate school for media Of the Of note students who didn't use, a device but were in the same classroom with those who did also. Scored lower this was likely due to distraction from surrounding devices Now, to, me that tells you something there is just little place, for cellphones in the classroom really little place at all why no some of the arguments your parents say well I want to be in touch with Johnny or janey especially there's a school, shooting trust me if you need to get in touch with Johnny or. Janey just about every school of this country has Okay and if you really need to get in touch with Johnny Johnny Johnny Johnny's grandfather, just? Died, Johnny Janis dad was just in a, serious, car wreck trust me you call the office they will, get in touch with your student who is by the way actually studying and learning and not messing around with their stupid smartphone for dumb people It's high time I believe that schools, made it standard procedure to turn. On those blockers those saints have stopped cellphone signals, this things that you often you often see in movie theaters but. Not nearly often enough to shut up the ignorant, riffraff who. Go. To these days who are convinced of the people paid for, that, ticket, so they, could listen. To. The individual in question yak rant rave and what. Have you, but I digress away. From just general cell phone etiquette to the notion of cell phones and, laptops in the classroom now there can be exceptions made in certain circumstances I suppose Not your technically how. You would do this but if somebody is doing, something that requires in class the use of a laptop or what. Have you then I don't know moved to a. Different building Whatever bring about access, it is hard wired but the notion that kids, should be able to, sit in class in class With the kind. Of blank stare that we now see it. So many other circumstances that's nonsense it does not do. The students any good it does, not do the teacher. Any good it certainly, does not do the country in a good it's high time that cell phones And laptops at least for. Social reasons or for for non classroom specific. Reasons should not be allowed now given the fact that. They're small and they're so ubiquitous You, can't just say don't don't use them you're going to. Have to block access to them I don't know another way to go about this I'm open I'm not a terribly techie guy but something has to be done this is nonsense we are so willing to cater to every little whim of, our precious little darlings that we are not interested apparently and actually. Teaching them anything at our precious little darlings are going to be paying for our retirements propping up social security leading this country into the very dangerous twenty-first-century those are good reasons to. Make sure that our little darlings pay. The hell attention one, eight six six five. Zero JIMBO one eight six six five o. five. Four six two six I love this study from. Rutgers University In which students in a college classroom Same class upper level college, students same, course taught the same materials same instructor same classroom. At roughly the same time of day one group was allowed to have laptops. And cell phones open for non-classroom purposes the other was not the group using the, devices scored half a letter grade lower and that included by the way. Students without a device they were distracted so we're giving students not only, the chance to wreck their own. Education but those around? Them, as, well, isn't, that. Special. One eight six six five zero JIMBO let, us. Talk, to Michael in. Virginia Beach Virginia Hello Michael hill logjam this ties right in with what I wanted to ask Greg about I remember when, you. Took, over for Larry. King his radio show right January of nineteen Ninety-three but go ahead Wow wow. And their remarkable thing was I thought at that time when he went? To just doing television he continue taking Hold on the telephone from, a live audience And it gets to this multitasking thing because Basically I think if you haven't show, out here talking about news, of the day the news, of the year the news of the century it's you. Don't have a live telephone line taking calls you're, not really a part of the American spirit and I was, going, to sort of put the question to Greg why doesn't he tried to move in that direction all for, his network? To have more live called now isn't it Thought I know that Greg of course does have a live studio audience for his. Saturday, night show I I can't recall the extent if any of the audience involvement, in the show other than, the providing applause and laughter, but I think it's interesting idea I don't think there's. Any reason inherently why you couldn't do that well, there seems to be an inherit reason may be what you're, talking, about right now this multitasking thing maybe maybe most hosts don't have the kind of guts that a Larry, King had Who who would maybe they would all, be, afraid, to have their expressions shown on television. And response to a caller and so they just. Hide behind some excuse? That somehow television is. A sacred territory and we can't. Allow we the people you know government of four and by the way the? People even access our, own Airways, in in in in the area where we most congregate which. Is, in television well it's worth considering honestly Michael and I think it's it's worth looking into we'll come back with some. More thoughts about this at one. Eight six six five o. JIMBO in just a moment the national. Debt, is now over twenty trillion dollars what happens next rising inflation drops dollars value some. Experts say another, crashes coming what will be left of your investments for your children or your grand Children we know you can't fight this not, with stocks or bonds but with gold and silver coins in an IRA from Augusta precious metals during periods of volatility. Precious metals regularly outperform stocks because they are true wealth. Asset that have real value during the three-year. Recovery period after the two thousand eight crash the. Dow went up.
