A Manhunt on the 17th Centurys High Seas
"Steven. Johnson joins US now. He is the author of many books many bestselling books including farsighted. And how we got to now but he joins us to talk about. His latest book is called enemy of all mankind. A true story of piracy power and Histories. First Global Manhunt Steven. Thanks for being here but much having me. There are lots of exciting terms just in your title and subtitle alone. I WANNA start with those even though and we'll talk about this. There's a larger story that you want to tell with this book but let's begin with piracy because that's a fun word. What happened on September Eleventh? Sixteen Ninety Five. There's a kind of interesting bleak poetry to the fact that this happened on September eleventh. Basically the events that are at the center of the book is a clash at sea in the Indian Ocean between pilot. Ship led by a very mysterious figure who would become the most notorious criminal in the world. A guy named Henry Avery and a much larger Indian treasure ship whose name was anglicized as the gun sway and the translation of that into English is excessive treasurer or exceeding treasure. So they were being pretty conspicuous with maiming. This vessel in terms of the of treasurer on board and effectively. These two ships confront each other on September eleven sixty ninety five by all rights. The pirate ship should have been easily overpowered but to incredibly unlikely things happen a cannon onboard board that Indian ship explodes because of some kind of malfunctioning design which basically turns cannon into a bomb when it explodes in so instantly. There's this you know. Many people on Indian ship killed the deck catches on fire. And at the same time. The first cannon fire from the pirate ship manages to have this incredibly lucky shot where they split the main mast of the Indian chip in two which effectively disables at in in the water and so the pirates are able to board the ship they pull off this heist that in today's currency we be would be worth as much as one hundred million dollars so it makes one of the most lucrative crime some in the history of crime and triggers a global crisis that reverberates around the world. Okay before we get to that crisis because you would wonder why one active piracy would do that. Just general picture of the piracy problem at that time. I'm always taken aback by the way that pirates are these cute Nara dwells in children's picture books or like Johnny Depp for many people. But that's not what piracy was back. Then what did it looked like? And was this unusual. Well actually one of the origin points to this project for me was years and years ago. I mean something like fifteen years ago. When my kids were very young we went to Disneyworld and we went on the pirates of the Caribbean ride and it was right after nine eleven and I had this on. I was floating down this little canals. That ride songs are being song and everything. That's very Kelly. The that the pirates were the terrorists of the seventeen hundreds and sixteen hundreds right. They were these terrifying figures would show up out of nowhere and burn your village down and attack. The women and people lived in fear of them. Here was three hundred years later. And it's just a kind of a children's story so they'll link between pirates and terrorism. Which is something that runs kind of subtly through enemy of all mankind actually began on that. Disneyworld ride in some ways. But what's historically really important about pirates at this point in history and one of the reasons why this particular story has so much significance. I think is up until this point. There was a very blurry line in terms of the legitimacy of piracy so there was this other class of occupation. That was called being a a private here. And if you were a privateer from all outside appearances you're a pirate attacking other ships and stealing their treasure and doing all these atrocious things that seat. But as long as you weren't attacking if you were a British privateer as long as you weren't attacking British ships. You're within the zone of and people like Francis. Drake a couple of generations before Henry Avery. When often basically we live the life of piracy but then came back to England and was knighted and bought a giant estate and lived a completely legitimate lifestyle. And so in a sense what happens to this period because of crime for reasons we can get into. It's a turning point where the British crown finally has to take a stand against piracy. They have to basically announced to the world that they're not a nation of pirates the way they've been accused to be. Let's talk about what made this pirate attack so noteworthy. Obviously there was the hall but were there other things that made this a big deal at the time. There are a couple of big ones. I is the other element of the crime. This ship that they attacked was a ship that had been doing business and ports of call like Mocha in the red seat but it was also filled with religious pilgrims coming back from Mecca on a whole other level was kind of a Muslim like religious transport vessel as well and among those pilgrims were a significant number of women women in the Royal Court of Aranda. Who was the great grand mogul of India? The last of the moguls and this was an unusual thing. At the time right you would not see a lot of big vessels in sixteen ninety five. That had a significant number of women on board but there are all these female pilgrims on board and so when the pirates attack the guns way they find these women there and number of the pirates rape the women on board. Some of the women commit suicide jumping overboard to avoid being attacked. And so there's this kind of outbreak of the atrocious sexual violence that happens as part of the crime and of course WORD GETS BACK TO WRONGS. Zab that not only has a hundred million dollars of his assets been stolen but members of his extended royal family have been sexually attacked and violated and this all is crucial in terms of geopolitics. Because it's right at a moment in a time where there's a major economic transition happening in the world. There's a chapter in the book called two kinds of treasure and is basically. There are two different ways of making a fortune that are in conflict with each other here. There's a very old way which is represented by Aurangzeb which is have an autocratic dynasty tax year citizens. Sit On that wealth and pass it onto your descendants. That's what every most of the rich people in the world at this point where people who were members of some kind of royal family that had some kind of dynastic wealth. But there's this new way of making money that has just appearing in it comes in the form of this interesting embryonic. New Organization called the multinational publicly traded corporation and that was the east India company. The east India Company was the first company that actually had publicly traded shares. So that people could. Outsiders could invest in the company in those shares could go up or down in value and for the first time people were making money not just through the prophets of the business but through the increase in value of these publicly traded shares and that turned out to be the future. Right dot is how if you look at the one hundred richest people in the world today. The vast majority of them were people who made money because they had traded shares in a company. They found that their parents found it. So in a sense clash between these two massive economic forces and Henry. Avery in his little pirate ship gets right in the middle of it because once. Iran's UB here's that his money has been stolen in women have been raped he threatened to eject the east India company from India which is the main source of their income. They've been trading CALICO and chinse fabrics and so on and if that had happened if they've been thrown out of India the whole course of the British Empire would have been transformed. It's entirely likely that the British Empire would not have formed in in India in the subsequent decades. If the east India company had been injected. So why wasn't it? Attracted rings up puts a number of the employees of the east India Company under house arrest and threatens to execute them and they began a furious letter writing campaign back to London. Saying we have to find the pirate we have to bring him to justice and we have to announce to the world that we are not going to tolerate piracy anymore or else this whole incredibly lucrative business that the country is increasingly dependent on is just going to disappear and so. That's what triggers this global manhunt really the first one in

Where are all the Asian Beardsmen?
"In November of twenty seventeen filmmaker Justin. Chang decided agrout his facial hair for the first time I had never tried to grow out my facial hair before because I was just scared to do so like I wasn't sure how it's GonNa turn out you know. My Dad actually has a pretty boss mustache. And he's known as the Asian Guy with the mustache but I didn't know if I had heard of those genes just in his Chinese American and he says people always treated his dad's moustache like an exception to the norm. A lot of Asian. People were impressed that he could grow it out. On a lot of non Asian people read more impressed and sort of I think I signed him like these masculine values. That a lot of Asian American men MM stereotypically are not granted I think part of that too is because he grew up in Tennessee and Texas and in the sal you know facial hair was even more of a signal. Oh masculinity down there and it helped him get by email. Think that something like phase. Here's that big of a deal but like everything communicates. Justin didn't go up in the south like his dad ad. But he's from San Bernardino California where they're also wasn't a very big Asian community just an always has some scruff but he had never let his facial hair grow now in his late twenties he was about to travel across the country to film a documentary. I found my own production company called J school and we focus on telling stories of underrepresented represented people in other words people caller women and the Lgbtq community and movember provided him with an excuse movember also known as no shave. November is an annual event where men are encouraged to grow mustaches for the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues. The Movember Foundation a global men's health a charity which began in two thousand three has always focused on educating man about prostate cancer. Anticipation cancer but in twenty seventeen they expanded their mission to include spreading awareness about mental health issues and suicide prevention in issue that was really meaningful to Justin quick onto warning. There's a short mention of suicide coming. Yeah I had a friend when I was younger. Who took her life and it really is what I attributed sparking my career path onto a creative journey and it was my only outlet when I I was younger to write in sort of tell stories as a coping mechanism from when my friend died so when I saw that Movember had expanded its causes to also covering suicide aside if I like the perfect kind of aligning of the stars that I want to try going on? Facial hair was 'cause I believed in and since he was on the road working on his film there there was no one around the laugh at me if it look bad so he started growing at his facial. Hair Okay Caroline. I think this is a good time to admit that we don't have much personal experience. Dance with facial hair right ADA and we're also not Asian American men but we've decided to explore this topic Asian American men and facial hair. Because we've heard it's a thing he's like kind of a thing right now. It's definitely think there was even this article called. Why Asians Dread Movember about difficulties? Some Asian men have growing facial higher. I laughed because I get it. I understand because I know that. Some dudes can't you know what I mean just like hey some dudes like me aren't six feet tall. You know what I mean. It's like you're dealt a hand play it. I do think that there is something very specific about men feeling like they can do anything that that they see other men being able to do. I know some Very Very Astute East Asia gentlemen and if I'm really breaking down what I feel too was them. It's probably jealousy and breaking you know whether jealousy comes from this idea that they can fit into Western perceptions of masculinity better than I can also. It's important to question when you hear the phrase. He's Asian men and facial hair. Do you think of East Asian men Southeast Asian men South Asian men. These communities can have very different issues regarding facial the hair I grew up in a six. I don't have a choice. Beer's become such a hip thing so for me. It's very interesting to observe because I keep a beard for very different reasons. Both to my parents were really worried about me going airports because I mean I'm a brown dude with a beard people get uncomfortable. I can see it in old y people's faces when I am boarding a plane so this is our investigation. What's the vocabulary we don't know what does that have? A Moustache flavor saver. Chinstrap is just like when it goes your sideburns. Connect your cheekbones connect your Chin and how do other people feel about their facial hair. This is something that loves those bugging let me about to because she was so good looking back in the day but first. Let's go back to Justin so he's on the road traveling across the country doing interviews for a documentary series called ritual which is about NFL players and their pre-game superstition and he's also a few weeks into his facial. Missile Hair journey by week three like I had a pretty good moustache. I was pretty sure wasn't able to grow a full beard. I was manicuring it the best I could. He's googling photos those of Johnny Depp. Michael B Jordan and Robert Downey junior to get inspiration on how to style his facial hair into a goatee one day. He was in Denver Filming. Maria's Thomas a a superstar wide receiver for the Denver Broncos who also happen to be doing movember for the first time and he actually flies out a barber from la every every couple of weeks to do his hair and he was doing well for the first time too and his barber was giving him shit basically for being like him. Ed Others Asian duties grown up way better than you can. You can't beat the Asian Guy. So how did that make Justin fail. I dig any offense to it even though like it clearly had racial overtones overtones because I get what he was saying like. They didn't expect me to have such a full mustache. Goatee and this Guy Thomas. WHO's like obviously way tougher for the Niamh as an NFL player? He could barely grow the peach fuzz. It was just kind of a very self aware moment where you're like. Damn I can't handle a tackle or run. The forty yard dash or catch a touchdown in the end zone or win the super bowl ring like he can but for damn sure I cannot gross facial hair this might sound like a nice happy ending of Justin's the number story but it's just the beginning he soon finds out that not everyone has positive reactions to his facial hair one of my friends who will remain nameless she goes. How's your new former birth control but we'll come back to them later so we've learned not the ability or inability to go facial hair can be a source of insecurity or pride for certain men men but for most it's still purely aesthetic choice just like I put my hair in a ponytail or choose whether to wear makeup a certain way for a lot of men facial hairs away the former identity through their appearance? But what if your facial hair could actually affect your job prospects. We're going to take you to Hollywood where your appearance. Especially as an Asian man competing for a limited amount of rules can either get you a coveted role or lead to rejection desmond. Jim I'm an actor on generic barnacles implant season villain in season two saga shake hosts. A podcast called the Bollywood boys and I have facial head. Desmond is an Australian actor Who's been in shows like reef break now chocolates and missionary chronicles and most recently got cast in Marvel's Falcon and the winter soldier? Saga was in a web series called unfair ugly about a Muslim American family in Orange County. He is the Co host of the PODCAST. Bollywood boys and on the cast of the sketch comedy. Show that get Brown. We got them in a room together to talk about their facial hair. Visual here right now is recently shaven. It's an attempt at the Tony Stock Goatee and I haven't pulled it off in addition to Desmond's goatee. He also has long black hair. That goes just past his shoulders that he sometimes wears in half ponytail. Saga wears his hair shorter but he has a full beard like like the beard. Easiest of beards that anyone could possibly have. My beard hair is like as thick as wire. It feels like wires. You're coming out of my face from every possible poor. It's pretty intense. It's a lot of maintenance earns when saga says his beard was high maintenance. He wasn't joking so a lot of work. You you know like I got a shampoo rush it so the shampoo can get like in their condition. It I brush it against the conditioner. Rinse that out and I tell dry air dry for like five minutes. I blow dry. I gave some beard oil and brush that in and I gave moustache wax soccer. Who is Pakistani American? started his acting career without facial hair. In the beginning he wasn't booking anything his agents eventually dropped him. He says he started growing his beard out of laziness. I remember the first year that I grew out my beard. Maybe maybe four or five conversations that I had daily whereabout my beard. The first thing anybody would say to me would be dude sick beard bro. Dude how did we get itself full on my God. That's such a nice beard things like that easier or fuck. It feels like okay. It's catching atun on. People are watching me. I'm doing something right. At least I can grow a beard to get some people's attention because like in this industry you can be Super Knbr talented by the look and you're not going to be seen and so definitely helped get me into a lot of doors in two dozen fourteen. He started art decorating his beard and putting the photos on instagram. We're in Venice and we're sitting like this grassy area and there was like these little white flowers I I was like hold on analogy. Hey grab fifteen of ood beard and then I posted a photo on instagram and got like a couple of hundred likes and this is when like getting a couple of hundred likes. It was like Oh shit. This guy got a couple of hundred likes. He also decorated his beard for Christmas using miniature ornaments and for Easter. He put peeps committee eggs in his beard with toothpicks. By November of two thousand fifteen he had collected a series of these beard photos and a reporter from buzzfeed interviewed for story. The article coincidentally came out the day. Okay before his ten year high school reunion which he thought about skipping. I was really hesitant because people have done things and like they're working regular jobs they are married and have kids and like what do I have. You know I was what twenty eight I feel like. I haven't accomplished anything at this time. Caroline did you go to your high school reunion being in no did you. Yeah I I still have really good friends from high school so I thought it was Super Fun but I totally get it. If you don't don't WanNa go but it sounded like he wanted to go. He just needed a confidence booster and that oddly enough came from his
The Politics Behind The Golden Globe Awards
"Welcome to the frame. I'm Steven Cuevas filling in for John Horn. But we're about to hear from John On. He's covered the movie industry for more than two decades as a print reporter and so we figured he's the best person to explain the significance or lack thereof of the Golden Globe awards. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today announced the nominees for its annual awards which take place in early January but rather than detail the usual inexplicable explicable nominee choices and snubs. We thought we talk about the relationship between movie fans the Globes and the entertainment industry. I John tells us who makes up the association. What's important to me about the Golden Globes and about some other kind of minor film? Awards is that this is not a representative presentative body. They're about ninety journalists. And if you go on the website for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association you can no longer even find their names teams or where they work. It's a very small group of people and they have undue influence because the movie studios have figured out that if they wou- the voters for the Golden Globes and they're filmmakers win awards at the Golden Globes it kind of create some sort of momentum for the Academy Awards but none none of it is very legitimate and H. MPA has cleaned itself up. It's not a scandal ridden as it has been in years past but this isn't an elite group of film writers or film critics that are making these selections and if you look closely at the selections not just this year but but in past years the fact that they are really that serious ask kind of film. Lovers starts to reveal itself pretty quickly. How so? Well let's talk about a couple of past nominations twenty thirteen. There were three nominations for a movie. I bet you you've never heard of salmon. Fishing in the Yemen amend that was a Golden Globe Walker. If you go back nine years to twenty ten there was a movie with Johnny. Depp called the tourists that was largely largely derided that ended up getting multiple nominations at the Golden Globes. And I think if you look closely at some of the selections this year it's clear it's it's driven by the red carpet like who do they wanna have on the red carpet you look in the TV category. There are multiple nominations for the morning. Show a apple all series. That didn't get great reviews because Jennifer Aniston is coming reese witherspoon is coming as nominees and then you look at Ava d'auvergne as when they see us. One of the most critically acclaimed TV series of the past year didn't get any nominations so it's important for the NBC. Show to have that star Klaus so there's eyeball so so people watch. I think that's part of the bias historically for the Golden Globes that you can say it judging between good filmmaker and a less name they generally are going to vote for the last name and they also have some historical by sees you know that are shared by the Academy in the seventy seven year history of the Globes. Only five women have ever been nominated for best director and this year. There are lots of really good female filmmakers that were up Greta Gerwig for little women. Olivia Wilde for book. SMART Hurrell for honey. Boy Marielle Heller for Beautiful Day in the neighborhood. Not One of them got nominated so golden gloves has a pretty poor history when it comes to nominate women the Golden Globes has made some the effort to try to rehabilitate this reputation. What has it done? It's made sure that people who are members actually have legitimate emmett credits. As journalists there been some reports of. I guess you could call it. Bribery or expensive gifts in the past. I think they've tried I to eliminate all of that so again they have cleaned up their act. But there's only so much legitimacy you can bring to yourself when you're only ninety journalists writing for publications that if we had the names I guarantee you you've probably never heard of them and yet the industry I I guess mostly plays along and an actor or director or studio can use success at the Globes as part of their campaign going into Bosco Bosko season one hundred percent and I think that is one of the most interesting parts of the story. Everybody in Hollywood knows in their soul that at the Golden Globes are really not totally legitimate and yet the studios independent companies and marketing departments. Embrace raise them because they recognize. There's a game to be played and the game is. We're going to court the Golden Globe voters we're going to have screenings and QNA's for them and and if we get a nomination are actor or filmmaker is going to be on their awards show and people are going to start talking about the film and one thing gets the other but they do know that really. It's not totally legit but it serves their purposes academy award. Campaigning is a multi title million dollar business. There are people who work as campaign consultant who get hundreds of thousands of dollars for getting nominations or Oscar wins wins. There is a huge business behind all of this and in some ways it might drive ticket sales or people to stream movies so it's driven by finance finance is driven by trying to get eyeballs on the movies but it's all kind of a hustle so John I've never covered the entertainment industry that closely so so like a lot of people in the public eye really always just saw the Golden Globe awards as the first among that more high profile award shows to spotlight the top films of the year. Going into Oscar seasons am I am I off on that. Were not technically off. I mean because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Asian nominates into different categories for most of the major film awards they cast a wider net. So just mathematically. They're bound to include lewd a lot of movies. That end up getting nominated. I wouldn't say they're that much of a bellwether but because they're embracing so many movies. They have a a mathematical chance of getting most of those things right. John Horn out in New York. John Thanks for joining us to talk about the Golden Globes. We'll see when you get back. Thanks for sitting. In

Movie remakes: the good, the bad and the ugly
"We look at remakes the good the bad, the ugly possibly some other surprises. Here is co host and actor Doug Hutchison, Doug, how's it going today? How are you, my friend? All right there. I'm good. I'm ready. I'm poised, I'm doing really, well, thanks for asking. And I'm excited about this topic movie remakes, I believe it was inspired, if I'm correct me if I'm wrong. But and our last show, we were talking our theme was movies about loss and grief surrender and one of my on the list was movie called pet cemetery based on the Stephen King novel, and I really enjoyed the rigid version, and then found out, they were making twenty nineteen version, which just came out, which I. Haven't seen, but I started lamenting about remakes and questioning the validity of remaking movies that are already made, you know, impeccably, so why remake them. So I think that spurred this topic on, but I just wanted to preface it this by saying that we call this remakes the good the bad and the ugly. But in my research, I actually surprised myself because I found that I actually started liking a lot of the remakes that was digging up the ones that I had seen. And so my list actually has more smiley Osman Ali faces on it. So I guess my list my list is not the good the bad nucleus that the good. I one ugly, just a mention at the very end just for the heck. But anyway, I was wrong. I just gotta say that. I'm gonna confess it. I was wrong. I think there is validity in making certain remakes and I have enjoyed as you'll see a handful of them. Many of us in smiley face by them. And I'm gonna tell you mine are just the opposite might have a frown. After after off your conversation. Holly told you I was looking at the positive and the bright side of everything. I'm gonna try and five five down. So. Great minor five thumbs up years or five down mice, the glasses have full years. At the half full once you're five. Okay, so in, in no sense of order whatsoever, by the way of priority. One of the remakes, actually really enjoyed is Tim Burton's Alice wonderland twenty ten. The original versions, of course, there, were it was nineteen fifty one there was a version of wonderland. And then there was a TV movie version in nineteen eighty five Tim Burton cast as the often does that amazing cast Johnny Depp. He's always cast in depth. So debt plays the mad Hatter Tim Burton's wife, who I've heard they possibly getting divorced. I think I read this the other day which is unfortunate, but it's life and relationship I suppose. Helena, Bonham Carter? It plays the Queen of hearts, young actress by the name of mea was the cow seat in Australian actress plays Alice Crispin Glover plays the knave of hearts. And I can say is in a nutshell Tim Burton. I mean. Filmmaking God or what move? He's actually come down from the mount filmmaking Olympics to give us his gifts or he's made a pact with the devil, because everything this man touches to me turns into gold and his vision, his, his special effects, his whole take on his movies are just unbelievably original income Pele. I loved him Burton as you do. And so Alison wonderland twenty ten Tim Burton's version. I loved it Coleman who call. I'm going to do research on the internet. I'm see anywhere. You came from a good place for that. It's great for me. Number five linking. Said, good things, these are not in order, because this might have been number one for me, the Halloween remakes, specifically by rob zombie. Who's the singer slash director? People that absolutely are in love with his movies. I find him to be one of the I hate shitting by hate it. It's not my style. Rob zombies, Halloween movies are among some of the worst I've ever seen, but not just Halloween. He directed. Oh shit. What are those movies he directed? All other coal classics God. How come I mean? Blinded, I loved that he made it wasn't a remake, but devils reach, I'm not gonna want a lot of people like that movie I do not. I, I don't like rob zombie style. He, he was on Howard Stern bragging on how quickly he shoots movies and I'm gonna know shit. It shows like it's like. Yeah, this looks like something you shot overnight, like it's I should be more friendly towards Massachusetts. Born director. I dunno house thousand corpses. Grind house at devil's rejects. I, I am not a fan of especially the Halloween. It's just he's not as cute as thinks he's on his creative as he thinks he is the movies, look like even shop quickly. There's there. I just find him highly unappealing I to tell you, I've had two interviews, one with another podcast host. Absolutely loved them. Shame on you for saying that. And then I had on the director of directed. I'm not gonna mention what he directed, but he dragged my favorite horror movies, and I said, I'm going to tell you I love this. I compare this something like rob zombie Halloween. I said, I'm not really a fan. He goes robs a friend. I'm like, oh, sorry. Okay. I should have said that. But I'm just I'm just not fan of rob zombie Halloween. And that doesn't even case into account. How awesome the original Halloween movies are even the last one they came out this past year with with. What's your name plays the lead in the Halloween movie stuck? My brain is out to lunch today. Gene, Jamie Curtis. Jamie Lee Curtis. Again, of course. Rijo. Yeah. And that was directed by the latest one when she was in. It wasn't directed by her. It was okay. But completely unnecessary leave the ones that came out the originals alone, their final even the one two three I love them. But yeah, that's how I lick never been touched again. And you and I have talked about the Halloween mask ironically whose face that is. And I hope I hope you believe me now it's face. I did not do any research because I think maybe just slipped yourself a little bit of acid or I don't know some kind of drug or something because that's crazy. I do not I because if I think about that, and I watched Halloween again, what my going to be

"Daughter. Yes, he had been an animator at the Disney studios. I thought that was kinda cool. Right. Sure. I can be alive animator. Alive actor. Yes. Actually, no the movies. He worked on. I wrote them down. Oh. He was he was uncrowded on Bambi and Eva. Ooh, that's good one. Yes. Those are good ones. Yeah. But he was credited on them. So I don't I I'm going to Disney site. Disney Wicky of it's usually pretty accurate online. I think that may be is it maybe that was the one I found it on always feel bad. Because I don't know if anybody like, I don't know how many people listen know this. But a lot of things would Disney are uncrowded just because it's kind of like, yeah. All cast members altogether. It's like a show put together, it's everybody. So like, not really one person takes credit for something. But like, pardon me, still feels like bad about that. Like, no, they did such a great job. But they're naming there. But yeah, I digress. So guy Williams who plays Zorro he actually learned fencing as a child and seemed ideal for this role, and yours very popular with kids all over the country thinks the TV show, and to promote the movie he made costumed appearances at theaters all over the country, which is awesome. Do you know who that reminds me of? Yeah, that's cool. Johnny depp. Johny spread. Yeah. Chris Pratt tube. Johnny. Did that with Jack? Sparrow. Many times didn't to the hospitals. And. That doesn't mean. It's not. Yeah. Yeah. He does. I thought you were going to say Johnny turbine because I know we talked about I was just. Going to bring them up. He did that to come with his, you know, recorder head. That's funny. Yeah. Johnny Depp still does that he goes to children's hospitals and meets with the kids. I think he's gone to Disneyland before and done it. He. Yeah. He's actually done the whole Johnny Depp is on pirates thing everyone keeps saying oh, no that that's a that's a rumor will he did at one time. Now everyone's gonna keep thinking there's too many. There's too many checks payers. The guy that plays captain America. Chris evans. He's does that. Yes, too. Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, could also people, that's awesome. Because you're making those kids lives, whether you're appear at a hospital with sick is or whether you're appearing just at an appearance for a theater like gonna make those kids. Go nuts. That's awesome. Yeah. So Disney hasn't released the sign of Zorro on DVD yet. According to wherever I pulled this from. It was released on VHS twice copies of both releases are fairly easy to come by the.

Now, I'm forgetting how to say we have to find video carbon Karen. Pirates of the Caribbean. But but does that mean you say when you're going to the to the Caribbean? Just like what you say. But I think everyone I think the movie everyone calls it Carribean. That's what I think too now. Okay. But I also think that like you can call it whatever you want then because they they say Caribia with the movie is a specific name. But, but it's the same place you have to find a video Noah find a video of Johnny Depp, saying the name pirates of the Caribbean. And that will be the deciding factor on the correct way also Caribbean. Johnny Depp, doesn't it's not it's not necessarily wrong still the same place. You're not talking about different location. I just had the Johnny Depp. As an accent. He doesn't have an accent. No in the movies. He has an accent in the movie. I was like you probably won't be able to hear it because of his accent just in the movie has an accent the move. No. Say Caribbean, and how did say Caribbean? Okay. So pirates of the Caribbean. Okay. And then where you're going vacation, you're going to the Caribbean. But, but when you go on vacation, you could also be going to the Caribbean. Yes. I think when you go on vacation, it could it could be either way, but the movies the Caribbean. Okay. Well, I'm just gonna whatever comes out of my mouth is what I'm going with. This is kinda creepy because Johnny Depp is obviously our dad, but looking at pictures of the two of them, I get big time, Johnny Depp. And Kate moss vibes. Which is I don't know. They just look say look like young, Johnny Depp. And Kate moss, which is weird because. Like lily has no relation to Kate. Moss? Her mom somebody else. But her dad, Johnny Depp. And the young Johnny Depp. And Timothy have that like the long shaggy hair vibe like brooding, how do you feel about Johnny Depp? I mean, he's been problematic. Johnny Depp USA, scare the shit out of me. And I think I've told the story before when he was in willy Wonka, and the I mean, we've talked about this before I've never seen that movie for that sole. I've literally never seen that the willy Wonka with giant. I have never seen because the commercials scared. The shit out of me the willy Wonka with Johnny Depp. There is one remember when I talked about that time that scene from that so raven really scared me there's one scene. I find it in the break because I'm not going to spend my time looking now, but there's one scene in that movie that used to terrify me like really deep inside by Seoul, terrify me and ever since. Then Johnny Depp has not really been the same for me, except I do love hearts the Caribbean fair. So it's kind of like which way do I go with this? Right. Also, he's with amber her, and he also is seemed to be not a good person. Yes. And also, he's just this is does nothing to do with him not being good person. But have you seen him? I think we talked about this now. Great. Yeah. But yeah, the whole thing with amber heard, and I I liked amber heard he's on a bit. He was on a big press tour recently trying to like up his his public persona. I don't know if it really works. I don't think anybody was really buying into it. He was big time denying anything anything that happens. He's only denying things that's been going on for that. She got so mad at him that she pooped in his bed. That was that was something that a rumor I thought it was a prank. They were like they used to pray each other. Oh, it did happen it happened. "That at all johnny depp by the way is to tease totally baked is brain let's let's just couldn't let us conclude after his recent episode on stage in glastonbury england where he introduced that his two thousand in four film the libertine when he began talking about the president according to the folks at the guardian the role of women with us the new approval captain jack has been under the jack daniels i think i never like cair pirates to the caribbean caribbean i i don't like the ride at disney i don't like never liked that i i just for some reason i've always thought him ever since like ever since the who's eating gilbert grade or what's it gilbert grape that movie what's eating gilbert grape he was phenomenal not the average ever since then i'm not wild about him of this and it's not because of politics he has a darkness surrounding him there's a something very dark about johnny depp in lebanese bankrupt what it what he's doing corrupt he's lost custody of this kids is why filed for restraining order let's talk only only place to goes up i guess from there so it's current is wife wasn't she the commonlaw wife for long term and i could do i care prior to the caravan as i ever i was never a fan of a minority of the runs a show like it he made hundreds of millions of dollars those were the most profitable film franchises in history and i bet he gets a piece of the the ride to i'm sure there it is as an awful is in that bowl in the boat i actually think at some point they actually brought johnny depp there in full cautioned new surprising people that were waiting in line for the ride when i opened probably because he need among that's the highlight of his career but he he's done so much pa eighty here it is voice i think it's worse than part of other things he's just god bless amazed the news it was byron yorkers said tell me something we haven't already heard made.
