"The best was when you were younger did go on to you know, early hockey game and you know, Mom or Dad would take you to dunks before or after the game and it would be like, you know, Seven 8 a.m. Every donut rack is full with fresh donuts and bagels muffins and it's like, oh I have everything I could ever want right yet here to pick from it's honest. It's overwhelming this song speaking the right donut in that moment was just too much. They were always fresh always fresh. So what you had on I think with with at home hits a wave bigger question. We talked a little bit about the son Brewing speed is dead. You know should the Bruins be buyers like and and and I think people are like what but when you really think about it, like you look at the division, you look at the situation. Look at the expansion draft em, and you know, is it really worth it? Is this roster worth it to go completely all in on to go balls-to-the-wall long to give up Johnny Beecher a first-round pick a Grizzly technically in the expansion draft. Probably a third asset whatever that might be and that doesn't even encapsulate what it would take to then get a top-six forward which will get you in a little bit odd. Like that would take a lot more. That's a maybe another future first. That's another Prospect like let's say hypothetically because we'll get you Conor Garland in a second credit to you for being on Long Island from like last seat from last offseason when we were like digging for topics everybody brought Conor Garland up and I was like what and now he's legit trade Target, but like is dead. Are you are you going to look back like you mentioned with that call? If you don't want a cop, let's say you're out in the first or second round. Let's say you don't make the playoffs that you don't make the playoffs then it's like what was the point of this whole like you had at home and and Conor.

"Blue Shield of Michigan. Once again joined by coach Mel Pearson, coach up one dumb player That's not on the trip. Maybe you give us an update. If it's a health issue would be Johnny Beecher, not on the trip or non dresser. Johnny is a nursing and upper body injury, you know, so he is not here with us this weekend, and we're thinking about Johnny, obviously. And, uh, you know, the other guys can't can't make that. It's unfortunate we can only travel 23 guys on the trip itself. We have some guys at home. But, John, you'll be in good hands. And you know, we just, you know, ask for a speedy recovery for him. So with that, with Johnny being out, Jimmy Lampert will slide into that center position to display a lot of center there. Um and I will lead the line's intact for the most part. Just make that one change up front and you know, Jimmy's finally got healthy. He's back and he looks good. So we're looking for him to pick up That fact. With Johnny Up, one area will be Johnny's been so good on face off, so we're gonna have to pick it up as a group, and we've been working on faced off so into the joint, so hopefully that group will be ready to go. And then you know when, when the drugs you want to start with the Parker gonna be chasing it. I'll started on unusual place for Jimmy Lambert. To be, of course, say he's in his career here in Michigan, as you know, he's played both wing and center. Yeah, I think he's better center. Well, I really do. I think he likes to have the pockets responsible. Defensively. Um, you know, we'll do a good job in our zone. He wants the puck on a stick. He's actually better playmaker and believe in a goal score. So Be nice, and he'll be with Chika Lainey and grand on, you know that that should be a very effective line for a so so nice that Jimmy back and there are death is getting challenged and You know, because you know, we're so sorry to see some bumps and bruises here. Second half Jack Sommers do you now, But Jimmy, there was out Johnny, obviously this weekend, so I kept getting tested. But we have good gaps, and we've talked about that so We expect, you know, we don't expect any changes and should be the same team and And looking for a victory on the road. How's your strong of the middle? That's for sure, Lambert will will do a good job. But center no doubt. Let's talk about your other sentiment and the success that they've had in recent games in the face off circles start with Tom Marlow. Thomas is good as that's where, you know it's nice to have a guy like that pick up the slack with Jonathan and Alyssa Thomas has been really good. Maddie Veneers was made good stride. He's really worked hard. Face offs and it's good and then you don't care if we Earth. The guy who can takes a lot important draws usually starts or penalty killing and come win that draw. Then. Obviously it's huge because you get it down The Iceman Away some time about the UK and look Morgan, another guy who can play center who is good in the face. How circle fell. We've got a number of guys and they already would be relied upon, you know. Obviously heavily this weekend, too. Make sure that we we win that area. It's important stat in the game. I don't think it gets talked about. Much maybe is that should because you're either starting every face off. You're even starting with control, UPA core. You're not trying to get it back, so it's important that we win the majority the face up. Well, the team obviously that you're going to see later today and tomorrow it will be a very desperate, desperate Ohio state team. Well, they are on that scary. Uh, you know, there's much much better than their records and you know, they play this real tough the first night and then arbor. You know, we had some things to win for us, but, uh, that takes us to court. They're gonna come after us. I don't like looking at their lineup tonight. There. They've sort of stacked airline upto more physical group and you know whenever you get Michigan, Ohio State, I remember the comments debate that he's with again. These are the games that they get up for more than any other games on the schedule, so Yeah, We're walking into a little bit of the line in tonight, but well, we'll have to make sure that we Don't get through that first five minutes. Have a good start. And then just play our game. You know, we have to take our game to that. Now we can't sit back. But Big Kate the pace of this game tonight we have to play a fast game with play quick transition game. Have to have a good four. Check going against someone that the manager park you know, we have to limit our turnovers and forced them to play that the whole full 202 100 ft. I don't want to cut the ice in half. They're smaller for them. We're going to make them come through us. Our players should be a lot more comfortable after playing a serious last week that going in the last week and on being offered 23 days, that was that's almost impossible to imagine. These kids have been off their skates for 23 days and since there were four, but you're gonna have a lot more confidence and probably a lot better flowed to your game. Uh, tonight and tomorrow. Well, I think we're still seeing some of the effects of it out. I can't just take that amount of time off. And then one week what it was five days, six days. Get back in the floor thing, just pressure conditioning. I mean, we're getting better. We're getting better. You know, we had a pretty good week of practice. But you can still see cases where we're not where we were gonna take us right up. You know, a couple more weeks. I think that we get there and But again having said that are very fortunate We're playing on. Uh no, no excuses. You know, we have to go out and make sure we're ready to call the guys want to play. And we'll get there. You know, we're continually trying to push him to get back. Shape We can buy the same time. You can't brush that can't get that back in seven days. 18 times is that it's gonna take some time. But I think we're getting there. We're getting there..

"Then I think that kind of fits along with what his own projections are and it seemed like there's a little bit of a gap between what she kind of projects out to be and what a few of these other guys are in terms of, you know, even a guy like Johnny Beecher when you watch his tape and it home it's kind of like a more skilled faster Frederick that you hope that maybe his offensive skills translate into maybe he becomes a a top-six guy, but I think wage It's tough looking at this upcoming season whether it be in the Collegiate level or in the age or they're not going to stop until February and that there's so many guys. I think that you're hoping that this was going to be the same take a big step forward and it's I wouldn't say it's a Lost season but you're not going to get guys getting the full kind of breath of what they what they were hoping for this year like swimming you hope to gain a full season down in Providence and he's fighting with Denville. Or 4 minutes. It's going to be kind of how tough to get both those guys lengthy amount of reps this year. So it's going to be tough to project how how for how far along these guys are going to be from the NHL especially the end of this year, but I think you look it's Tanika. He's guy that even if he maybe has a staff here in the NHL. I imagine he's going to end the year with the Browns and hopefully kind of contributing pretty heavily to the scene success. Yeah. I mean I see him as a lock for that third line right wing spot. At least you should I mean that's that's my expectations. You said 25 30 points? I mean like my expectation and a lot of people says that third line right wing spot. I think that would be perfect first addicted to enter the NHL into to be next to coil cuz they looked good in the bubble. And I think that you know, the Bruins are set down the middle right now. They don't need sneak in a step into Center and I mean you remember the beginning years of saying and not that they're really comparable but the beginning years taken he was on the wing a lot and his point totals were not crazy. That's part of why I think the Bruins jumped on him so fast the room is probably should not do the same thing with sneak. I also don't think they have the office issue occur. Then maybe someone like steak and carried but let's get into so obviously you mentioned swimming being hurt by the shortened season Jack of cons another one. Who is somebody who is I think overlooked by a lot of people just on the entry level deal with the Bruins. How is he going to be impacted by this sort of shortened season? And what do you sort of see for him being the plan? Forward yeah, I think Jack is Sean is a guy who is definitely probably the most I want to say overlooked cuz he's just signed in mind..

"Guy NHL players anyway, you know getting who drove as opposed to maybe a guy like best sir, I'll marry or a guy like, you know, Nikki dealers over in in Winnipeg. What makes a great player Thirty goal scorer was under contract for a while. So I think maybe if you're willing to give that much money you'll be some of these guys were a little bit younger who were, you know, maybe feel bit more, you know a little bit better about in terms of a long-term building off of like I think we drove is not old right, but I think you look at kind of his age and or or Size more or less and how it fits in maybe you opt to go for another guy a little bit younger with still a very proven track record there. But again, it makes you seem better than a year why you've lost last couple of years has been five and children. He brings it. I think it's all just depends on what Calgary wants from them. And if they trade Monahan who seems like they will and get a good return from him for teams need, you know centered Depp then maybe it's enough for them to do. All right. This is our big move we've restocked we've switched things around a little bit and go from there. But you know, if he's going to be out in the market this year, you know, I think the Bruins like most players that are going to get they're keep the tires on them. I think to get a kind of like a drug you'd have I think the package base would be a first-round pick Jake debrusk and Johnny Beecher. I think that is like your base off to Calgary and I'm fine with that forgot I could row like that is worth the first that is worth the Brusque that is worth a former first like that to me is completely worth it off. But as you said you can go out and get a like Palmieri or healers or best sir and give up less and potentially get more for second line scoring. So and also younger which is really took a very much more important, but it's funny, you know the loss of Chicago Fraser for that Connor McDavid or or genotype me Aur Nikita kucherov. Maybe you know, it's a package. You know what the price is going to be. It's like Sydney goes out that on the U should do it, but I don't think it should be some moral satisfaction. Yeah Mac and I'd and third yeah, Nick Ritchie. Yeah, and so I know that would yeah, you know, you gotta give to get in this league. So you gotta be realistic about these trade packages. That's true. So you so okay. So maybe not John more you throw in like heaven Connor Clifton That so I stopped, Clifton Nick Ritchie help ranjan more to yeah and Jacobs tomorrow and Zach senyshyn to the Edmonton Oilers wage economy David who says? No, I mean don't think is he can't give up that much..

"Just taking it day by day. You Know I. Don't really think there's. Any reason to to look down the road. You know tend to think about you know Kennedy expectations or or anything like that people have. Expectations for myself and. I know that the bruins organization has their expectations, and that's what I'm trying to meet You know I think. It's just kind of going out and doing what I do on a daily basis. Better and you know, get myself closer to the to the stage of being professional hockey player so You know I mean I'm I'm not saying that there isn't you know expectations that come along with the in the first round pick, but. You know I think it's just kind of you know blocking that out for a little bit and just do what you need to do to better yourself. Yeah. It's so true in in for you. You know you know if you look in the future a little bit now. What would you what comes to your mind? How do you feel about someday? or how would it feel to some day? Be a you know a legitimate in our top line center for the BRUINS. I mean! How would that sort of make you feel? Yeah, I mean to be honest wouldn't matter where it wasn't lineup. For me. In House able to to sign a professional contract, and you know be a part of the bruins. Whether I was first liner fourth line. You know as long as I could go out and I'll team win and be a part of that success and. Part of the city and you know, have that fan base June for you every night I mean it would be. You know like I said earlier it'd be something out of a dream Yami at something that you wish you can generally happen as a kid and I'm and that's a play out. Hopefully in the future I mean it would be you know surreal. How often are you in contact with Bruins during three, your own hockey season in Michigan. talked to him every couple of weeks just checking in. I'm just kind of making sure that everything is going well with me. I mean they'll. They'll come out to a game here and there and I'll talk to you. I'm a little bit afterwards, but I mean for the most part you know it's. It's not you crazy They're actually busy and I'm busy as well with school in hockey so. We keep in touch. Probably I'd say about every couple of weeks and just Kinda. Catch A. and. You're limited time in Boston. Have you talked to any of the players on the team currently? I haven't actually. I mean when I was there for development camp last. SEASON! Just ended a couple of weeks before and. I'm sure a lot of the guys were kind of away on vacation or her back on somewhere, so there aren't too many other guys that were. Hanging around the ranks, but hotel iota and a get out of the city in the next next couple of months to a year, and you know a couple of the guys and kind kinda get acclimated to the whole thing a little bit more. It was right after the cops and that was. I think. A week after I mean it was so quick that it all came together. They were all gone. For you I mean just lastly. Is there any you obviously probably have NHL IDOLS and? Guys you look up to who who are some of the people that someday? Looking across the ice seeing yourself playing against them the there would be a dream like who are some of the players that you would love to play against in some form fashions. Know I think it would be unbelievable. Say you played against the guy like Sidney? Crosby? I think he's going to go down as one of the greatest ever play the game and. The success that he's had everything that he's done for the game. I think you'll just be pretty pretty remarkable deal to say that you know. You You went against them in a game and you know I mean the same thing goes for guys like like outs Ovechkin and you know just kind of guys like data. It'll be in the in the record books and the history books forever so Obviously it'll just be you know unbelievable just playing. A game and you know face off against any of those guys and they're all remarkable players. I mean they're there for a reason so. Yeah I. Mean those are the guys we grew up watching. Crosby Ovechkin even the Stamkos those guys. But Johnny again. Thank you so much for doing this I. Hope You and your family stay healthy and safe. Keep playing golf Glad that the courses are now open but again. Thank you so much for sale on. US media I'm have Marinov. Uber's be listeners have a great rest of your week..

"Years just because everybody wanted to win. You know whether it was just a Wednesday night game in the US, HDL or a gold medal game over at Russia. And all the way down to mini ice game practice, I mean every single time you went on your battle and we're pushing each other day in day out. On the ice in the classroom and I mean everything. was you know just just hard-fought and You know I think it really kinda showed with. The draft that came up in how well we did there. You know I think it was. An extremely special two years and I. I have your unbelievable relationships with each and every one of those guys I mean. We were a really tight knit group bins. For a fact that you know we, we all really cherish are two years together. How competitive is it? I mean because you guys obviously WanNa win. All working towards the common goal, but you're also I. mean you're trying to better your position to get drafted? How do you balance that like okay? These guys you know I wanna I WANNA get picked. You know with or before but I also want to win with these guys. How do you balance that? Siasi I. Don't really think it ever came down. So you know a thing of the draft I think. Again. I think that's why we had the success that we did. We were never. You know worried about who is going to go away on the draft. Picks you'RE GONNA go. You know I think we all just kind of looked at it. As if we stay in the moment and you know we do it when you write out a win in, get better the. Work itself out in the end I mean obviously it did so. I mean I really don't think there's anything that ever got in the way of our current goals at the time and I think that was also you know what kind of contributed us being so close I mean, there's always competitions are the locker room just trying to push each other? It'd be better, but it was never. A thing of. The draft in your your status per se, so you know I don't really think gotten away which was? Yeah. That's very good i. mean that is I'd feel like that is the most ideal situation. We just trying to win, so let's talk about a little bit about the draft. You go to the Bruins. For being a first round pick getting drafted I mean what was that like for you? Surreal I think growing up as a kid. No being a in NHL hockey players, L. Your biggest dream in life and You know I think at times it's countless angry. Ah, YOU GROW UP! You realize you know it's. It's pretty far fetched goal and You know to be able to sit there with with my family and some of my close friends and you know the here. My name called on that first night. was you know something of a dream I mean it was it was unbelievable. You know all experience in the city of colour. Put on a great venue and. I mean to go to organize such as the Bruins, I I couldn't ask for anything more, so it was. It was unbelievable. I always wonder with first round picks. 'cause you guys, are there. You're with your families you with your friends. As the tea is as teams go by, the team gets on the clock. Are you thinking your head like I could see them maybe picking me all I definitely couldn't see them picking me and is it. Is it nerve wracking I mean what is that whole kind of? You know. A waiting game sort of like to see where you get picked. I think there's definitely a lot of nurse that revolves I think most guys have a pretty good idea. Where they're going to go out, which teams are interested I mean obviously there's a ton of communication between. You and the teams, and you know your your agents or advisers. Column. You know between the teams themselves and I had a pretty good idea that the Boston was interested in. You know it may take me there. you know in the papers coming up I. mean it was it was crazy. You know what I mean you're. You're shaking your seat and then i. mean say quickly also from the time they called my name so offstage and meals a blur I i. don't remember much of it. was. It was crazy. I just remember shaken onstage so it was you know it's unbelievable. Yeah, I feel like one of those moments where you're just you're not. You're just kind of shock. Even though you know like you said like you, you had a good idea. They might pick you, but still I mean. It just has to be crazy. I remember I. Think I talked to you about this last year and you. You said the same thing like it. Just you don't remember any of the walk up to the stage, but I feel like that's a lot of people And how was it backstage or after with sort of your teammates? They got picked as well you know. How was that like kind of experiencing it with them? It was awesome. You're Kinda. Get rush through a little bit just because and you got a bunch of interviews. Pictures and stuff you gotta do but I mean whenever I would walk by one of the guys and see them. You know. Give each other big again taking grass and everything like that, and then.

"So, when did you feel? When does that moment come where you're like okay? I think I can do something with hockey. I think this can become more than just kind of a hobby for me. I can really make this like my life. I think for me, you know Kinda WanNa start to stand out. That may be able to do something with or was probably when I left the Almira Jacko's youth program I went up to the Syracuse searches nationals. This is my first time. Ever playing AAA is probably eleven or twelve years old at the time and you know I never really played my own age group too much. I would always play up a little bit, but I went out there and. Kinda, just high ranked. You know some of the other top players in the. Stay in the country and I mean I think that's at around time where you. Realize you know if you can do things that that some other people can't Is One of those times where you can really kind of separate yourself from the crowd. I was able to do that to a certain extent. So, how did you end up with the the US National Team Development Program? What was sort of the process that went into that? And how did it all start? Yes, I mean I guess. They pretty much are recruiting You know I wanNA say. Three or four years before you even really get there, I mean they have the The state in the national camps every year that players from all around the country can can qualify for yourselves, actually not able to one of the national camps because I had a a shoulder surgery. That kinda got in the way of that, but I WANNA say. The summer before your junior year of high school you get invited to a forty man camp on the top forty players in the country will. Go into to Plymouth Michigan and try out to be on the team so. I mean that's pretty much where the final decision is made. How big of an honor is that for you like okay I've made it to this forty team camp like that has to be really big for your morale I would think. Yeah no I. Mean just you know being able to be invited. Day I mean if you make the team or not. I mean that's still a huge honor to be considered one of the top forty kids in the entire country I mean obviously. You know the representing the country in any fashion as It's something that you know you really can't put put in words. I mean it's. It's such a extreme kids. Be Able to be selected for Development Program. was you know one of the coolest things all ever experiences as a player as human so that team? Obviously you're on how lot of great players people saw it at the draft last year. obviously you being one of them What? What did you learn from playing with them? Who had the biggest influence on you? I mean. How did it all sort of work with you guys? I think the reason that no. We were so successful in that guys now grew the way.

"That? Just, staying busy, you know workout right six times a week. trying to find is you're available and just spend playing a lot of golf, street, hockey and Things with my buddies. To keep myself occupied throughout the day and you know, help the. We show by a little bit faster yet. It's funny. Street hockey's would be with my friends too I feel like it's like we're little kids again. You know playing video games late at night on during the day just playing a ton of street hockey and different games outside 'cause I mean people don't really want to be inside together because of the coronavirus. Whether what's your major? I'm going to US Sport Management Oh Nice Nice econ class. makes us. How was your freshman year? It was great. You know I think. You know everything I expected. The University of Michigan Michigan is it's unbelievable. I mean everything you know. From the hockey's the academics, the social life I mean it's everything. You know wish they could be ins know I'm really looking forward to get back this fall. When you were there in the starting in the fall. Did you guys go to a lot of the football? Games does are a lot of cross for dom. You know sort of support I guess. yeah, no, we We will go to as many cat. I mean obviously season starting up around that. China tough, but with the beginning of their. Kids maybe three or four games, so Um, you know the fun you know. I mean you go on to the big house and You see just really how big it is, and you know to to pack one hundred ten thousand people inside there. It's pretty special to be a part of so we We had a lot of fun. You hope that somehow they've a winter classic. There during your time, so you can play outdoors at that place. I mean that has to be just crazy. To play in front of. Back to the quarantine, thing real quick. If you picked up any cool hobbies in a new netflix shows, you're watching fun stuff like that gender in quarantine, view. I don't know if I picked up any new hobbies I like I said. I've been golfing a bunch. I haven't watched. That I. Watch the Outer Banks Show. just. Flipping through some random shows here and there but yeah, I mean just. Trying to keep busy. You know like I said I've been you know working out a ton, so usually work out at least once a day. You know, sometimes you get around in the morning and workout later in the afternoon so I mean and then just Kinda. I think the nicest thing is just laying low all with with my family I've been able to spend a lot of time with my mom You know throughout the day and we unveiled you then a couple of years, so it's been a lot so a lot of fun for us, so you mentioned the ice rink thing have you been able to has has been a lot of accessible ice rinks and Almira right now or no. know not a time With everything that's going on, and I think a lot of that you know rinks are kind of taking the time to renovate and make any changes that they need to make right now so. I have been able to get out a ton, but hopefully the next couple of weeks things will start opening up and. Get back on. Yes, yeah, that would be helpful for a lot of people for the ice to open back up, but but I feel i. feel like things are getting a little more lax now. We're heading towards it at least a month ago. We were all kind of like damn this might I. Don't know when the heck this is GonNa end, but now feels like. At least there might be in sight, so let's go back in your freshman year a little bit on the ice on nine goals. Seven assists sixteen points at a great freshman year. You feel your freshman year go How was sort of that transition to college hockey? Think. It went well. You know I think the transition wasn't really. Telling the development program and you know the team that we had there I mean obviously we played I think around twelve, Division One games, are you eighteen season and he kinda got a taste of what that kind of hockey is going to be like. So you know it wasn't really like I was kind of on into a blind I mean you kind of knew what to expect and. I think our our senior classes here. Really GonNA. Help US freshman. You know kind of develop in. Get used everything I. Mean they're a bunch of. Guys, you know it's going to take us under their wing and you know kind of taught us the ropes through everything so I mean they really helped us out a lot there and I think throughout the course the season I think my game really starts to develop and You know I think by the NFL season. Awesome. The best idea ever have and I had full confidence and. Yard team was rolling there for a while, so I got cut short because. I think we were you know on the path of the special, so I mean. I guess it It is what it is today as you know. Everybody had to go through, but I mean like I said it was unfortunate. It is very interesting to see for a lot of freshmen they come in. and. The start it might be a little tough, but as time goes on, it feels like the comfort level gets a little bit more. was there any part of college? Of Hockey that was different may be surprised you in any way, or is it all kind of just hockey in general? I think one of the biggest things you know. That's I notice was in the face off circle I've seen being a Centerman. Being, as big as I am I, take a lot of cried and winning face offs and I started off the year. You know pretty good and I think I was around like sixty five and seventy percent and You know. I was confident and. Next. Thing I know I Donald Juniors! Money draws over there house, playing weighing and. Got Back and I had just. Lost, my touch, a little bit and My percentages started the job. And I thought it was. You know pretty as you know. I mean back in the US, l.. You know playing those games. We're development program I mean. You could go in and You know straight back maybe sixty sixty five percent on a bad night and you know then you come into college and you're gonNa cost guys that are a lot bigger and just as strong. If not stronger than you, so you got to be ready to go every night. I mean it's up to battle when it comes to faceoffs. I've always wondered this because I. When I grow up, I was never center what? What is the key for you to winning draw because it is so important? And it's such. I feel like it's an overlooked part of the game for a lot of people watching like what is it to you? INEFFICIENT, how do you win a face off? What's your go to play? I guess. so for me I focus on all my details so. I have a little like stick when I'm in a twirl I, stick my hand off the ice and then when I get back to my hands. I'm in my position on. My knees done I'm sliding into the circle and my edges I like my hands, Bernie Lowe and my stacks. just give me a little bit more leverage and then I guess it's pretty much timing I mean. You can do a little bit of research and you know China trying to figure out what your opponents. GonNa be doing in the circle. But at the end of the day it all comes down to you know keeping your eye on the block and getting your timing downright with the rats and how fast they're going to drop it and. Just trying to get under their stick as as quickly as possible, and you know trying to rake back to where you want it, so you you. You grew up in Elmira, correct? How did you end up getting into hockey? so my brother, actually he He was the one that got you started she. He started playing on US probably around two years old and then I. Just Kinda followed steps. I mean when I was. A young kid. I was never really too big on playing, but I love sports. Still everything we will do growing up floated. Knee Hockey and street hockey was pretty much all we'd ever do and you know traveling around date and Boston him. Play, and do his thing mutated was inevitable that I kind of followed and I think it was around six years old. I finally realized that. I could stand up on the ice and actually skate so. It wasn't the prettiest thing I. Mean once I kinda got it down. I fell in love and. Looked back you. Do you play any anything else? When you were a kid I, did I green? Let's try to ask for hours. I was actually pretty vacant to soccer. I played soccer. Toss probably. My Sophomore Year of high school When I went to Salisbury started overlap a little bit with hockey so I had to stop, but yeah. I mean I was. Pretty big another sports growing.

"Now we're all in all of a sudden in June and it's beautiful out, and it's just crazy that it's already the six month year it just it's it's flown by. So. This episode is you can tell by the title Johnny Beecher Interview. He was the guy hinted at last week for a potential big. Guest this week? Really! Interesting Guy Obviously first round pick in twenty nineteen by the Bruins last year this last year. Stick by the BRUINS. Really fast outstanding here at Michigan this year, a lot of potential. Great Interview I had with him before I. Get into that that there are a few things I'd like to sort of discuss. Number One. I WANNA talk. About what's been happening, obviously, the number one story this past week with George Floyd's murder at the hands of those four police officers. And sort of the. What's ensued from it? I we can't not talk about it. I would feel so weird just talking about the Bruins. At, least discussing that at some length. Obviously, Floyd's death was horrible disgusting. In obviously floyd still be alive for me. It was just horrendous. What happened? That's stupid cop I. WanNa say his name just. Absolutely awful! And It's funny when you wouldn't. I'm a white guy from middle class family. Grew up privileged It's hard for me to sit here and talk at length about this stuff because I don't know how people of Color Feel I. Don't I've never felt that and I think in these times for someone like me. The most important thing is to listen and I. think that's the most important thing everyone can do is listen to to to to people. Speak and listen to them. you know, tell their stories and tell you how they feel and understand them. I mean I think that's the most important thing we can do right now as a society, no matter what color you are. Is Listen. Just listen to what people have to say. There's a guy killer Mike down at Atlanta. Who gave a great speech I? Think it was Saturday night given awesome eight minutes speeches share around I. Re tweeted. I mean really great message. and. It's it's perspective. That's really think what's so important. The other thing I would say is Tad. The conversation is vote. Vote the voting is you're right. Vote and especially for local officials like if you really want to change the system and really WanNa make an impact. Look up local officials. Look at their backgrounds. Look into them. Study up on them. Pick your candidates, people who you think will make a difference state wraps. Attorney General. People at the local level. They're the ones who make the impact. Obviously, there's a presidential election that everyone cares about, but people need to care more about local stuff. And I think I. Hope this kind of gets people to care about local things because that's what's GonNa end up changing the system. And I. think that's one of the most important things. The peaceful protester great. But we it seems like we always have them and I. Think vote. Really getting people out to the polls is what I think will make a legitimate difference, also the peaceful protester great. I think most people sort of think that I agree that the looting. and. Know ruining some of these businesses is not the way to go unfortunately. to see Boston sort of on fire as many people were saying on Sunday night was really tough to see, and it's tough because it hurts the message of the protests that happened all day. It was so peaceful incredible images. Were you know thousands of people you know to honor? George Floyd to raise awareness into to fight back against the system, and then to have that happen at night is just not what you WANNA see At all, so that's why I have to say about that. I couldn't not address it. You know obviously you guys don't follow me for my opinions on social issues. But it's too big to not talk about and I felt like said telling you to listen to vote is maybe a little bit different than what most people are saying It's something that I think everybody can do i. think that's a very good thing. Second Topic I wanna hit on because again. There isn't a guest on this show so obviously. We had some NHL News last week. I I WANNA talk about it just quickly. because already wrote a column on. Was The new NHL Twenty, four team plan for the return to play format. Came out last week. was unveiled basically the playoffs. You guys probably have already seen it. The bruins will play in the round robin before. Round Robin as the other teams. They're playing games. So, obviously, the big thing that Bruins fans a lot of Bruins people have raised Cam Nealy kind of touched on it was. They could potentially lose number one seed, depending on how they do in those round Robin Games against the other top three teams. And, the Eastern Conference you've Tampa. Philly Washington. And my whole take on this has been. You can't really complain about it. You can't complain about and I number one. You had to make sacrifices to come back if you want hockey back. You had to make sacrifices, and if you're GONNA IF YOU'RE GONNA pitch a snake about it. How about you just don't have a season like this to me? I can't think of a better. Option for season to come back now you could maybe without Chicago and Montreal. Maybe chopped the teams down a little bit more, but I get why. They wanted to have Montreal in Chicago. Housing it makes it a little bit more interesting from a product perspective I know Montreal has no reason to be there, and neither to Chicago, but there's the potential delay Chicago Com quarter run I. Mean Imagine they they. They really knock off some top teams. But Number one hockey's back, so don't complain. Second often complain because look at last year. Remember how easy that road was a relatively easy speaking you had you had Toronto in the first round then you'd Columbus Carolina and even at the time. The St Louis Blues we're not who they are now. They're they're. They're a good team. But they weren't thought to be what they have become. You know. They were the number one team in the West as I wrote, there were that team that was last January first so. Don't complain about this. You had jozy road last year. This'll be much harder and I also think. Basically repeating my call at this point. It's up once. The media DOT COM but doesn't make it all that much sweeter. If bruins did win the Cup this year, overcoming that amount of time off halting all the momentum, coming back winning those round Robin Games. Gain keeping the number one seed rolling through the playoffs winning the Cup I mean to me that would be a lot more sweeter. Than if you know pampered, the bruins during this whole process, even though I mean I guess you could make a case. They deserve to, but still don't complain about also. I don't know exactly how they're going to calculate the seeds after the round. Robin like you know if you go three, no, against Philli but own three or not three now if you go like one into another team goes to and one, but they're lower see. How do they figure that out I imagine they would somehow. Mesh the regular season success with the round robin success in kind of calculated based on that. Hasn't really been a set plan. I think for that sort of like. They don't really know how if they're GONNA see if they're going to keep the seeds or Do a bracket. For the teams that are doing the plane game, so it's all kind of up in the air, but again be happy. That hockey is back. That is the number one thing be happy. It's back, obviously this podcast and seal on this media dot. Com and specifically will have you completely covered. For the rest of the postseason for previews future episodes, that's what's going to be dedicated to is all talking about the playoff preview and sort of what the British needs do, and all that fun stuff all those fun topics now we get to get those hypotheticals. We don't talk about we can. We can save the whole weird story Krueg.

"Of radio show heard before every Michigan hockey game we're joined by the coach in the the stretch run as your coach by big series last week split of Michigan with just for home games live Yalla we have to take advantage of every home game I thought we played well against Ohio state obviously didn't get the result we wanted to on Saturday but we have to take advantage of these games we don't have any laughed and they're important points in the league standings cell Hargeysa be ready to go this weekend I had a tough go on the air Saturday game at home last week some questionable calls and penalties and I I gas that Johnny Beecher has been suspended for this game tonight yeah you had to bring that up there thanks a lot but missed Johnny tonight you know he's been playing extremely well for as much as I told you I don't agree with the call I just you know I just don't think the league really look at the whole context of what happened there but you know Johnny was very apologetic to his teammates and tell us about it and he'll be right in the line up tomorrow night and will be ready but we don't want somebody else has to step to step up and we didn't have much concert last time we played a we beat themselves you know when that same situation and we'll have to get with on tonight which occurred a couple lines over the last week were reunited do it with a with moral and and and and van why and and may be back on the line well as you know they played extremely well together in the past and just given our line up we put them together and it's nice to have to go Dakota available on back in the lineup for us and he's look good this week to sell without Johnny we have to scramble the lines a little bit tonight but at least we know we have that we can go back to we need to so yeah yeah you had will lock what obviously playing with Beecher when a combination that is who steps up for for beach tonight well we're gonna put well with Nick pasta and Jack back and if you can read remember they played together last year the second half by when Josh Norris went down they played extremely well so we're going back without tonight and I I think you'll see tonight they'll be some times thrown in the blender and mix them up by just depending how our team is going but will and Nick do have some chemistry together so we hope we see that tonight where are you at what you say when when somebody has to set up a game or or they're they're hurt it's a chance for somebody else to step up who have you seen lately that that you really like stepping up for change well I like to this we got look Morgan with nurture complaining and the code Arabian the speed and scale on what they've shown a practices been extremely got Jacob pay hers ma'am why and and more oil played together and and they look good this week so we like online to like or combinations but we need everybody as you know we don't have that one line like some teams we rely on our doubt so we were getting everybody on to make sure they're going tonight you got you got to be really please with your defensive play lead back there by of course you're you're to seniors who have been having their best years now they've been really good now and that's what you hope for your senior so when they get into that final year that they have their best year in and look marred by far as plain as best hockey we missed him last year people forget that he went down with a broken wrist and we sort of started to slide a little bit but he's been tremendous and I can't say enough about Graff Graf as a developed the bald supplier and he's been extremely valuable to us regular their players at they can take a hit that day they give it back but they they play off one another well they do and they really compliment blank in Bergen New York they play with that you know great plays with blank in Bergen they they complement each other as does Marty with a cam York and like to get up the I saw two real good pairs and found some reform we get to the keys of the game was look at this was constantly replace him twice for those a long time ago a long time ago things have changed you know that's when it started to see our team played better and come together I think in the big ten my god oh six and one until we won in Wisconsin and and since that time we've been six two on one of the big ten playing extremely well and and they've sort of falling off a little bit but they're dangerous team to me they have the best young talent in the league and you have to make sure that you're you're on your toes you pay attention because they can they can score in bunches order custom oboe Caufield exiting he does yeah they they do and you know he's a heck of a player there's a reason why the first round draft pick in musical score so we just have to make sure that we know where he.

"You or previously right Berenson how many times in a conversation and you say like we just need to stop the the the Cup the parks that he should stop right and it was a constant theme of like this just there's bad goals goals are going and where you know you you you look at the film later you're like you you just can't give that one up and that's the one thing that I haven't seen him give up for much all this year no he's been going and and they just add so much confidence your team when you give up a bad goal I mean you can just see the sag and you're right we we haven't had a guy stepped forward in the in the national conversation or have the numbers at straws as in in a long long time and it's nice to have that and nice and always only a sophomore we just got to keep around of that that that's a becomes the other the other issue by dead no he's been very good you can just see of Michael ease the leadership that he exudes not only on the ice but off the ice and the ownership he's taken on this team and when he says something now in the locker room your guys take notice because you have to go and do it you know if you say something you got to back it up it's easy to call your teammates out or or or make a comment but then you got to go out there on the playing field on the court in the pool you know on the ice and you got to do it if you don't then those words really I don't say they're meaningless but they're not as relevant or important because here you are saying all these things you can't even go and do what you gotta do it and he's doing it well that's one thing that you always talk about and that's been a staple of this program for as long as I've covered for twenty twenty years or so is is a you know I know this is the right ism but I'm sure you've borrowed from is is you need the guy's gonna put that Siena's during but the C. on your Jersey guys go where Hey gonna be a senior you gotta go out there and perform because we you know you need those guys to be on ice leaders to be white leaders in the in the locker room and you know the guys got us the Sears Jersey in and he's a you know the first or second line left winger and he's got three goals on the season at the halfway point the guys really follow that person well I eight did you have to be a special individual and you can't you can't no question about it I'm one comes to mind Luke Glendening maybe was never at the top scorer topline guy but boy oh boy yeah I mean his his his effort and heroes commitment level not only on the ice in the classroom in the community everywhere I mean you have a ton of respect for a guy like that but no question will lock was done a great job you know he's without a doubt what you know if not our best Ford one of our top two or three strikers really start to come on and then on the back and grip loosened look Martin a plane accident I I have never seen with Martin play like this in my my two years here with him he is playing his best hockey that's what you want and that's what you want on your your leaders like you talk about they're the guys have to go out and and perform and and and they've done a great job for us we're talking mission hockey coach bill Pearson coming off their suite at Notre Dame the first sweep on the road since two thousand seventeen eighteen season the second sweep of the year Mel a couple of guys got off the snide a little bit to Nick grant of its first goal of his season I think his first goal is Carter's correction and Jacob Hey hers to you brought in as a transfer and someone that you're you know counting on for office I know he was a more of a playmaker than a goal scored the past I know the empty net goal not a you know beating the goalie type a goal but even to get that empty no on that goal and I thought it was really good of Garrett van why he could take a shot once across the blue line he said he gave up the park to to Jake up just the I mean we thought so many times work as a group in the sticks in the the old monkey the proverbial monkey off the back I gotta believe it's gonna help of both of these guys well no question grand what's is look going to you know that the road games we've played along he's played in some tough buildings he's been really good and then he said a couple so so games at home so I don't know if it's it's a pressure being home with family and friends and everything else going on but on the road he's been good so we put him with with you know which Johnny Beecher and Wallach way here we got a freshman is god no go all the coaches put this kid with with a first round draft pick and and and well Lockwood your captain well you know what what do you do in college yeah the line was really good and then obviously the hijacker pay her C. I. A. he's is he with ease I'm gonna tell you he's his first half was a little bit of a disappointment you know and and he understands that we thought we would get more out of them and he's a guy though who played extremely well against Notre Dame yeah maybe not picking up the points but he created a lot of things in in those games and he has I mean I've seen much more out of EM since we've come back from the Christmas break and he's another guy in that the beauty of our team as we've got a lot of guys who played okay and played extremely well in the past you know what's there so that's the good thing if they just all play just a little bit better we needed just a little bit better in the first half to maybe a flip our record from what it is but we're starting to see that come now and and we're excited and like I said we've got to we're halfway through our big ten schedule we got twelve games left and we're in a good position to get through this weekend and then the the schedule really changes we only had two home games out it'll be like out of thirteen yeah after this weekend some crazy thing like that and we found a way to to chalk up some wind so were were anxious to get home but we gotta get through this weekend before I get home and and then get on a roll yeah it's pretty incredible I mean if you if you have passed at home December sixth and seventh but you go back to November sixteenth right and it's one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven yeah eleven out of thirteen away from home waiting going to neutral site any troubles are still away from home absolutely and you get to a six out of your last ten at Yost ice ring or OR one a Joe Louis or sorry little Caesars where where the home crackle only three true road games in there and you know it really you know only two out of the state so we gotta get through this weekend all the focuses is going down to Penn state we've beaten them thought we should be on the second night so we've had success down on and when it's not a Happy Valley take out and our whatever is so we'll go down there and have an idea well we'll talk more about that Penn state series coming up in the second game the three one victory over Notre Dame on the other side talking about Pearson this is a lot on sports talk ten fifty W. to get.

"At checkout speaking of being kept on staff by read take us to the story of your interview process coming here not all but interviewing with the athletic director at the time Bo Sham Boeckler you talk about intimidate Tim dated and you know red you know red had the name and I remember Interviewing Nineteen eighty-eight for an assistant coaching job here and you know it's tough enough just sitting with red and just you know he gives you that error and gives you those questions and it makes you a little nervous and then he says okay we're going upstairs to meet athletic director I knew who they Athletic Watch Paul Sham Bachelor coaching football at the time and was the and I knew who Boas I fall Michigan football and so I was needless to say extremely nervous so when I went in that office and there's no sitting behind his desk and you got red on one side and bow on the other side just looking at you and they didn't say too much when I sat down I I in both of them and and then Bulbs Yeah Pearson Yeah what do you want this job for only they get to go change my underwear tell you it was it was awesome though to sit in the office with those two legends and just listen to them go back and forth after a while and then both says well you're good now for that guy you're good enough for me welcome to Michigan so cold you go well is intimidating day but a great day for me and that started it all and then started my Michigan career and I'm just so excited I'm back here it's a great Place and all three of my kids went to Michigan and it's it's been awesome so tell us about your team I like our team our like our team we know how tough year last year Oh you know what you're expected to finish higher than we did and we didn't and I'm not going to make excuses we didn't get the job done this year we're not picked US high and which was a good thing we're we're sort of the hunt we're the hunt right now we're not being hunted so but I like her team we've got a lot of good players upfront we've got a couple of high end draft picks it's you know Jimmy talked about this before our guys get drafted before they even come into college so we've got two first round. NHL draft picks in a kid named Cam York he was the fourteenth pick overall south by the Philadelphia flyers got Johnny Beecher is drafted by the Boston bruins thirtieth overall but but what's going to you know make our team or leader our team to success is our seniors we got a great accrue of seniors we actually have nine seniors this year on our team led by will lockwood who's our one hundred captain and Kyle Michigan Hockey history and Wells a legacy player is dad played for Michigan and wills already been drafted by Vancouver. I'm so excited well came back he Vancouver canucks have drafted may try to pull him out of here this summer they offered him a contract that will decided to come back and be our cap then and get his degree and then go go out to the pro hockey world so But I like our team our goaltending is the area that we have to sort of like quarterback in football it's you know everybody's looking at your goal as they had an off year last year but we feel they're both very capable of being a much much better and we've already seen that yesterday we had our first Exhibition game and Stroz man did a great job he's a sophomore didn't let any goals and he went to the New York Islanders Development Camp this summer I think that was really good for him just seen what it takes to play at the next level and I think he's poised to have a real good year and then hey levine's our senior goalie he took us to the frozen four two years ago had a tremendous year and then last year I thought it was going to be easy you know he just didn't work as hard in my opinion but now he's he's he's back in the saddle and he he's looks good and he's a re committed himself to the game cell and has conditioning and everything so we're GonNa have a good competition there and that but I really like her team so it kind of sounds like you gets the senior class that you have and then how many new freshman do you have yeah we've got nine new freshmen so we're feast we get all these seniors and all these young player despite in our sport as you know Jack and GM and we can bring twenty year old freshmen end so we've got some older guys but we also have some eighteen year old freshman and we bring our guys they play a very rarely do we redshirt a player so they've got to come in and be able to perform right from day one but we need our seniors to the lead and help them along especially early in the year and our seniors have done a great job with that so far what about the the coaching staff you lost one of your code yeah the NHL coach Wiseman leaves bring in a guy from the east coast plus you have a couple of names that were really familiar with on your staff with Steve Shields and now Matt on wicked back take us through the additions and changes there got the best African College Hockey Ira Invest so Brian Weizman did a great job and anytime you have good people around you they're going to have opportunities to leave and Bryan had opportunity go to Edmonton the NHL to work with Dave Tampa we'd worked for before so very happy for Brian. Brian did a great job eight years here at Michigan did a fabulous job by gave us the opportunity to reevaluate our staff and make some change inches and change sometimes it's hard but in this situation I think it was a good thing we're forced into it and we're we brought Christmas from providence he's a goalie guy penalty killing Guy Nazi-era we really need some help sell Chris done a great job so far and we were fortunate to be able to bring mad hunt on as our volunteer Assistant Matt unfortunately his career ended this year still has a year left on his contract with the Buffalo Sabres but they told them you know you're done don't play so after five hundred some odd games in the National Hockey League Matt's come on board as our volunteer assistant coach how about that you get a guy without experience they come on you don't have to pay my nickle sor sorry Matt if you're listening asked by by but he's great he's such a good player he's a great player but he's an unbelievable person he's going to be so good for all of our young players especially defensemen because that's the position he played so all American hero Michigan we're so happy to have him and then Steve Shields we're able to move into a coaches assistant uh role nine assistant coach sort of a program assistant and he'll do a good job for us so I I've got a great staff and then obviously Billy McColl the holdover ability Great Michigan Guy won a couple national championships here so he's doing a fantastic job so anxious excited to get the season underway we start Friday with Clarkson the top ten teams in the country so let's drop the puck and let's get after any volunteer coach should be should be paying you to be good yeah I'm gonNA tell Matty hey by the way we have yes hotel we can't pay you for the opportunity to be mission again to comeback absolutely Don Canham had that philosophy you're at Michigan why are we paying becoming you're a full time assistant he was suggesting that maybe you should pay him to come to University of Michigan that's a great idea Al Davis told me that I played by I my first job was with my dad as volunteer which I should have been paying you for and then Second Job as a coach was working for the Oakland raiders went out and and I knew not to ask him when he hired me what my salary was going to be and I never brought it up and then he he said he said and if you're thinking about asking me what we're GonNa pay you don't because you it'd be paying US L. Davis Oh he's a little bit bump head of his time back in the days yeah yeah good good football that's a great one I'll bring that up with Matt right yeah yeah well they'll be happy to hear that Jim had that suggests totally I mean yeah Matty we'll see a Tuesday matt so coach you get fall camp you get four weeks to practice basketball they're already practicing over a month to get ready for their season how much time full time of practice do you get before your first we'll get the four hours well now this week we finally get to twenty hours but up until this past Saturday and we played an exhibition game Sunday we had hours per week and it it's just our coaches association we're not as organized as football and basketball and some other sports so it it's ridiculous we go from trying to do so many things especially with so many new new players and systems and whatnot you get four out so you find yourself just you're not doing as much coaching you're just trying to get through the systems and the drills and trying to maximize that hour you have four times a week and then bang you gotta play but fortunately this week we're back to twenty hours but last year our first official of twenty hours we played that night we're we're just we don't do it right but the problem is is we have we're trying to cram four games and so we can't shove those games back to weeks we've got to try to get right from our first day play like this weekend teams played on Saturday and they were so why not even into twenty I'm in starting in early September because our coaches coaches association is an organized like some other ones we were trying to do that and trying to say hey let's give us two weeks before the official star data leads to get twenty hours because their players are here they want to be on the ice there on the ice anyway so they going on captains practice but then they get some bad habits and it's not as intense aim week that'd be the equivalent basically yeah your first game we could have no fall camp you have players lineman coach each other with technique drills and the Lex coordinating seven on seven and then boom star game week now with no fall cam good luck yeah it's not it's not the perfect scenario but can we other Exhibition Games those those starting games or they this we played yesterday exhibition game and that's the first one but sometimes like I said some teams no they're playing games that going your standings and go towards your RPI and everything so next week is our first week twenty hours a week and Bang we're playing the top ten team in the country and we gotta be everybody has the same Roles Bhai who saw it it's not hockey coaches were a little odd anyway hello this is Jim Harbaugh from the ad podcast telling you that when.

"Inside the huddle talking to a Michigan this is and how you coach Brian wise men will be leaving at the end of the month to take a job with the Edmonton Oilers an assistant coaching job with Dave Tippett and one of things were talk about hockey in just a few minutes here but coach Wiseman is a huge Michigan football fan one of the you know this isn't coaches you guys get the access the tickets your price one of the few guys who tries to get there if there's not off the hockey game you're at the football game most definitely I love taking recruits to the Saturday experience sometimes with their schedule they may be checking out early before the games done but then I just you know climb a few stairs and steps to go sit with my my wife to finish up the game I love Michigan football and Amberley side and pumped up about this year yeah and I mean when you look at the season and issue you know you talk to some of these guys I mean it certainly seems like it's it's gonna be a really good year is this the year your five break through wow here's what I say they'll be playing for big ten championship yes okay that's how I mean I'm not gonna get anything I'm not gonna I'm not going to push you here so I'm con I'm comp and I'm excited I'm optimistic about that and of what I've read what I've listened to you all talk about and then probably some home town optimism they go out coming out but I'm I'm a burger lose a loyal listener here this is when the guys who like what will tax me during a broadcast but Hey I you just said that or something like this I'm not Catholic we do we do have financing we do a podcast you're certainly welcome to listen to one and then shoot me one but Hey heard you yesterday this is where the wrong or anything like that alright so big Michigan will football be competing for a big ten championship Michigan hockey the same I am that was a part of you know eyes this opportunity was presented to myself lots of it is timing you know when you want to make the move to wherever that next move is up I am excited about this year's team and what this team can do on the ice and and it starts from leadership with will Lockwood and Griffin listen live Martin Jake's Lakers seniors we have a very you know experienced hockey team with senior leadership we got some grad transfers coming in that are going to help that out as well gonna be good pieces to it and then you know you have some guys that are good at what I expect and we as a melon and Billy as expected the staff to step up their game as well if it's a a Michael past you of a new pastor of now becoming a Caesar Jack Becker from a freshman year and getting back on track to that Nick blank in Bergen and you can go on and on of how Nolan morals had a tremendous offseason and then we talk about it our goal tending Hayden Levin a senior yeah he's taken this team to a frozen for two years ago Strauss man you know one championships a **** hockey in USHL before it you know a freshman year Michigan now what is he ready to do this type of progress is he ready to make as a sophomore it's exciting and then you talk about the freshmen are come in at a cam York at Johnny Beecher air tickling these come in and Nick ran away it's a local kid come in and it's going to be tremendous and am all over from Sweden comes in as a transfer student went back in was a top ten scoring USHL so lots of the needs we talked about is speed and skill and character and leadership experience that we thought we we needed to address I think this team and the staff certainly with Malon Billy and myself last year we address that and and that's what's execs me about the potential distant you mention a couple grand transfers yes so we have a local kid coming in from B. U. Shane Switzer okay a high school hockey player here plates in junior hockey there after went to Boston University he'll come back here's a grad transfer and I think I can say it I'm not implying that come up and play my my long night I Jacob Hayhurst come in from RPI graduate in three years from our pay which is a yeah absolutely top scorer in junior hockey out of Toronto area in the with the USHL one of their top scores in last couple years at RPI so you're adding skill you're at an experience it's a nice combo and I think that's what we talked about this team needing to have to maybe to make that next step yeah in a very competitive big ten what's going to be this year because that's when things is is we're looking at it is where is that we're just going coming from Josh Norris is gone Quinn Hughes is gone a little bit concerned of where the scores come from no you like as you mention a lot of the freshmen that are coming in but to add a couple of those grand transfer pieces and accomplish score really helps it certainly takes the burden off a young eighteen or nineteen year old come in and have to Ted Ted carried in that type of pressure the load can York's going to do his thing Johnny beach is going to do his thing without question be a big part of our our success here at Michigan successor this year I catch myself talking about our success our mission but a Michigan six always gonna be your success a part of our success rate all world we're all a part of this but you do you talk about the grad trance you talk about some upper classmen take in more of a role on better prepared for a role were seen some of that growth in that maturity in some of the guys that have been around here too in three years so it's exciting I'm at Michigan hockey fans should be excited about the potential of this hockey team and the direction it's going well let's talk goaltender because a year ago this was you know back and forth and becoming Strauss man's job towards the end how does he take that step and is is does Michigan get the hate Levin of his sophomore year his mission get the he living as junior yeah and and that's and that's because one was really good and one was pretty average in and that's that's an area we we talked about some different areas or special teams have to be better on both sides of it our goal tending some of our discipline has to be better in some of those areas that we talked about and and very doable changes and and not not expectations that we we don't think that can happen I can mention Hey Levine took this team to the frozen for two years ago and was a huge part of it Strauss man championships in **** hockey in junior hot one year of junior hockey in the USHL that up I for the most part are you with one of the top up your amateur leagues in North America as a young goalie and so the track records there they have some history and we need we need them to to you know develop continue their development curve and be a big part of this team's success now with that it's also team defense as well that we we talked about can we keep the pop you know out of our zone for you know lengthy periods of time can we maintain some also in possession we think we have the guys in the the skill that to be able to do that that will help then take the burden just off our goals yeah I mean it you know there is a a deeper defensive corps and then past years I wonder though you know who replaces that huge offense of production from the blue line that Quinn Hughes was offering the last couple years yeah I I don't think it you know Quinn's a special talent and you've been around Michigan hockey for a long time maybe the more the more intriguing unique talents at Michigan's have along the blue line we've had great ones whether saccharine ski Jack John through the Jack Johnson and the list can go on and on I would put in my I've does for the just named excuse me for just name and then I'll put Eric Warner was the top five offense of defensemen in missing of seventy eight years I've been current team that I've ever seen and Michigan without question and sold to replace him in his office production one person I don't think it's going to come in and do it but some of the guys we have come in and and some of the guys that are here are ready to take a step I think by committee can do it Griffin loosen Luke Martin as senior is going to be big parts of this hockey team are they both can provide the offense the queen Hughes no but there gonna add something they may add it to the offense of side on the Ford side because they're gonna defense so great and we're gonna get the puck in the fords answer these not skilled faster in a more experience for that we have that's one way to look at it just not who's gonna score from the blue line but then you have a guy like cam York it and keep piercing come in as a freshman chain Switzer as I mentioned and Blankenburg and summers you know in ginger those guys taking steps as now freshmen to sophomores it it's I think the defense is going to be a strength of this hockey team yeah it really it really should be and it's been it's been trending that way the last couple years we've seen some terrific performances from in the past from Joseph's Coney and from Nick Boca and you know you fell if they're sort of take some of those strides last year unfortunately in a Michigan ran out of time that you didn't have a good enough stretch early on the season by time that you're playing better you could make up for it and so it's about getting off to a better start the got a very interesting fun schedule we can have a second the what the what I'm curious about looking at is you lose Josh nor should talk about some of the upper classmen Jake's Laker and the pastor of brothers and and will Lockwood the line that was that blew the doors off towards on the season was geared van why Nolan more oil and I believe there are third one was to code Robbie yep and so they really came mine and I know when you get togethers assistant coaches and and with with Malon the offices you talk about in a long lines that we want a pair together all of the things do you going to see any sale like we're gonna keep those three together and see if they recapture the chemistry because if they do my goodness what type of start we can have to have a great number one or number two line you certainly have those conversations without question of how the chemistry between if it's not three guys it's two guys in in is there something there but that line as a line of three certainly did they were impactful as everyone thought they were quote unquote a fourth line they created chances for us with on offense so I wouldn't categorise him as a fourth line coach Pierson doesn't like they have this one two three what is what coach lakes I had it but you know what the rest of us that are paying attention it's pretty clear who gets the most ice time who scores the most my goals it it we know who's number one we know his number two and we definitely have his number what number four and one good thing with this line if you will and I don't know what the plan is with the three of them.
