"I was like I'm not waiting. I'm still getting to performance I'm flexing that muscle. Well, one of the things about being a musician is most of the time what I'm doing. Everyone around me doesn't understand unless I'm in a room with other musicians. What I usually am is the one used in a room with a lot of people who are just doing things, you know, they're singing or they're acting or their dancing or whatever. And as a musician. You can just do a whole sorts of shit underneath that. Nobody knows what you're doing. So there would be whenever I had to play for dance classes, or I would have to play for this woman singing bat opera or anything like that. There will always be places where I would be like, well, I could change this court. I could practice this rhythm. I can do it this way. I can play it in this key can move it around that way. And so there's always stuff that I'm doing to keep my brain working and to keep my chops moving and learning how to do that. And not disrupt the activity of this actually paying the bills. I think is a big part of what musicians ended up doing for most of their careers. How do you get better without everyone hearing you practicing? Yeah. Wow. Great answer. Did. Thank you. And goodnight. That was such a total conversation stopper, though. It was amazing. No. That was great. It was taking that in so audience. Did you was your musical ear because one of my best friends was a giant fan of you? And definitely is freaking out that this is happening. And it was playing piano, largely in part to you and told me to ask, but I was gonna ask this anyway because he has a crazy musical ear. Right. And he can, you know, read music, well, but he got into it and has the most fun and considers themself just a someone who, you know. He could hear any salt to the fucking point at what did you say? What did you lose your for? He he he can hear any song and play. Do you have that skill set? And when did that that was well that that is a thing that I had to pick up fairly early because when I was in junior high school. That's I mean, I was I was always a short kid, and my voice didn't change until I was almost seventeen and I had skipped a grade. So I was the runt of the run, and I wasn't. It's not like, I was going to be an athlete. Anyway, I wanted to be a musician. I wanted to be in the theater and all that stuff. So in order for me to get any attention from women at all I had to have some kind of skill. So, of course, all the girls wanna sing. So if you can play the songs the girls want to sing they will then come around. They will they will sit next to you on the piano bench, and they might even put their arm around. You all these things. So, you know, I always say this enormous motivator for me to get better. It was just to get attention. Yes. Not like to get attention in broad sense of the word, but specifically female attention only going to happen, if I could if they could say to me, oh, I want to sing Flashdance, and I could play it because this was the eighties and the sort of song that they would have to sing. And you know that I went to a performing arts camp. And again, it's just the way to get people to gather around you the piano is always the center, you know? So if I'm sitting at the piano, when people are gathered around me what you don't want them to do is can you play don't stop believing. And I'd be like you just start playing you start playing it. And you hope that you get to the end of don't stop believing shit. So you know, you wouldn't practice for the piano bar gigs? Would you or no no, you really can't the piano bar gigs are practice their practice your life? You just someone has to throw something at you. And you have to be ready to go with it. And I'm not even on a level with a lot of those guys like John Zarrella, the jazz guitars is a friend of mine, and you call out any tune of like hundred thousand songs in the great American songbook, and he literally can play it down the minute..

"All right Popa. Power. Paddle jank Uber. John Zarrella, Michael sure. What's up epic? It's good to be here. Good to see you to see you too. Glad to be on the power panel. I'm just sort of thinking about the I mean, it even though it didn't sound like it, the the drop it. Evolution of drops. Where it is today is it's interesting. I was just taking that in which is why seem a little disconnected would love an obsessive fan to go and do a super cut of one hundred drops. Oh. Just your drops. Because John dropped the other have been Anna's driving people. Who are not you have dropped. And it never. Yeah. I agree with John every time, I say drop, it it drops and myself esteem drops, you're crazy. Crazy, not go. Well, okay. That jacket jink compliment every time you. Good blue. You know, as Greg was once legendarily said any old blue just won't do. Oh, Greg Edwards. Are you brother? We got to go find him in Lehigh valley. Yeah. So he's just democrat that did not win as primary, but was a wonderful candidate. How you doing junior? I'm good. I'm good. I decided to go with the one jacket that's still sort of fits me. Okay. Oh because he's too too strong buff referring to but I liked it. At your to strong is very is never never to never about. My muscles growing. Other parts of our body has grown in some time as you see from time to time on T classics, which is for members only when we dissect old clips as Mike Lynn, I did a for a couple of recent episodes. Okay. So look lots of amazing things to get to the news. Obviously Donald Trump at a world of trouble. I think it's starting to swell the toilet bowl starting to swirl. I think he's in a he's heard dog. Don't ask them if he's all right? So there's not only just the legal stuff. There's the Giuliani's response. And then there is the the people running for the hills on the chief of staff position. There's just a ton of stuff. Meanwhile, Republicans are still trying to grab power in every way they can fight back against that. So many more things to get to. But I also want to tell you there's a lot of interesting stuff like the end of the year for a lot of people like, oh, take it easy. And not us we power at their of here. Okay. We do power run. So we got eighteen days left to the end of our membership drive. I don't know how you guys feel about that. Of you will miss it. And some of you have got finally no we're talking about. Okay. Keep it real. As we always do. Okay. Listen to public radio, you know, how you feel about membership. But you still I think that we make it a lot more fun and impactful with fun interesting programs that we do. But that's what I'd like to think. So yes, we're trying to get the thirty eight thousand. No, I'm sorry. Thirty nine thousand members because we started at thirty thousand seven hundred did we get there. Okay. That's Embiid goal. Three hundred and one day. Let's find that. That's too much. Eighteen days left, eighteen members left. Okay. But we gotta eat the forty thousand by the end of the year. I'm just talking about to the to the thirty nine thousand Mark. Yes. So thirty nine thousand year ago. Let's do that. Can we do that by the segment? So there's two different ways like eight different ways do that. But let me explain three real quick. Obviously, we want to become a member get all these shows last night. We did five almost six hour extravaganza wish should be the progressive agenda for twenty sixteen. If you're not a member that might be worth it alone. If you are member, please check it out. Elizabeth Warren, Paul Rokon Alexandria Cortez rolling hall. The list goes on and on the people who joined us to give us their take on what the gender should be. And I thought it was incredibly edifying took a lot out of it. So please check that out. So TY T dot com slash joined to become a member. I don't know if we're going to keep doing the host name thing as the leads are getting embarrassing. I mean, my lead over John is now officially a hundred..

"So the Steve Ratner's of the world are like extrordinary. That's what they love Nancy pose as you will do whatever those funders want. So you know, you should know that about Radnor and finally. So how did the votes work because they mentioned the votes and. Look there's first democratic caucus vote. And then a general vote that includes the Republicans Pelosi if she was democratic vote could lose the speaker of the house, if the some of the people voting against her in the caucus, then turn and vote with the Republicans, but that's not gonna happen for any progressive. So the fight is within the caucus for progressives, Alexandra Cortez etcetera. I would be shocked out of my mind. There's no way the world that they're going to turn around and go. Oh, yeah. Then I'll vote with Kevin McCarthy of the Republicans no way if bunch of. I'm trying to spare that tips here. But I got plenty coming if a bunch of right wing Democrats decide they wanna make the Republicans speaker of the house. Well, I guess that's on them. But there would be held to pay. So that is not the conversation. The conversation is what's happening inside the caucus. And do I think that the progressives are going to win this round. Well, look, Pelosi's got a tremendous amount of power within the house. So if Barbara Lee doesn't say he's she's gonna challenger this. She's going to win. Yes. But it's important to at least set the standards for what's acceptable and not acceptable. And so once you lay out those markers and nasty Pelosi does not advance any of the very progressive bills or decently progressive bills. Well, the next time around it will definitely be a challenger from the left and not from the right, or if there is one from the right it'll be relevant because the left will be four stronger where to take a quick break when we come back. We're going to jump right into Trump related news, including his interview with Chris Wallace over the weekend. The young Turks. Jan with you guys. You know, we've been new this contest for the membership drive. I am thrilled to report that I am pulling away from John Zarrella up next antics Burien. Okay. You don't want. My secret weapon is that a bunch of videos on YouTube over the weekend plumbing. Hey, listen, if you work harder. That's fine. No problem. I'm not saying they're just saying I mean, working on the weekends. On the wing filter. Okay. This guy. So now, I realized that this is all about this is your roundabout way of getting me to do live videos over the weekend. I know. Of fun competition. All right anyways. So that's to sign over membership for Christ's sake. It's four ninety nine. It's a Cup of coffee. You gotta a progressive. Netflix. All the shows you could handle so obviously dot com slash Jan..

"I thought one of the things that stood out to me was during the night when he you know, was thinking yet had a home run in the World Series. And didn't look bad on my gosh. But when he stepped on Aguilar and to have people react like they did on the brewers like Christian yelich who isn't a guy that pops off the inter community new. Yeah. And they go that's dirty play by dirty player. You know? We're not surprised. We know. Now, you guys are well over right? That's that's poke volleyed because I don't feel like that gets talked about you guys probably in private away from microphones will say things like that. But not far. Following an LLC asking him now operates and a guy like yelich having seen him a lot in spring training. Because we it seems like the Marlins cardinals are play the Marlins, you know, every other day, you saw them all the time. I mean, he was just he's just a pro. You know, went out did his things didn't say anything for the most part said all the right things. Now, he was very frustrated when they traded ozone and Stanton was gone, and in they could see the rebuilding he wanted out. But that was the only time that you heard him get frustrated, and you know to a player from looking at it a player's side. I I can understand. I mean, he signed a pretty club friendly deal with the idea that that trio stays together, and we're going to add pieces to win and that team was close to winning if they had any pitching they would've won. And that was really the only time we ever heard from the guy that was it. So that speaks volumes actually said something about that. As as damning as it was a dirty play by one of the dirtiest players in the game speaks volumes. Do you think you you said you feel like the place that they would improve? And if you're saying that the. Outfield is set. And I'm sure many would say that. That's the case. I'm saying it set with with the understanding at follower comes with that. And you're comfortable with right would be third base because obvious shortstop in John Zarrella comments following the season. It sounds like they're still on long, and and they should be. Yeah. Defensively. Can't argue with what he did. And then then you'd have carpenter. I so then this is the game that fans left to play and I love to play it too. Then who would be that option? Well, I I've said it for a while. I mean, I'm I wish the cardinals would have gotten more aggressive on NewsTalk as last off season. When you saw that he did not accept the qualifying offer. And then he hits free agency. And then teams don't don't take them. Now. I also that puts a red flag up for me to to an extent of it goes back to what you're saying about Machado. What do we are on the outside not known? And why did he only get a one year deal after having a monster season? And he's had a good year again. This year. I'd be really curious what the marketplace is for him. So you know, he might be one of those guys at starts going on one year deals, and if that's the case go get him. But he fits what they need which is preferably a left handed bat with power in the middle of the lineup that plays a corner position. Yeah. So they can be creative. I think it's a fascinating off-season. Like, you know, do you want carpenter to play third base? If there's a first baseman out there that you like is there a shortstop that you like any could then shift a young to third even though the defensive metrics show that he was actually well above average at shortstop. But to answer your question. I that's that's where I would go. I mean, that's the first name that pops in my mind, but some way somehow being creative defined left handed bat in the middle of your lineup. Which is interesting. Keep seeing even though I kinda felt like the ship sailed. Josh Donaldson associated with the cardinals. And I'd be fine with that too. I I mean..

Two questions for about an hour somewhere. Ted weedy, some more newsy on the impact of trade and tariffs. For instance. I from the chairman came the disclaimer, so I guess I need to start by saying that we're not responsible for trade policy, and we don't comment on particular trade actions, and that sort of thing, and then came the, but we've been hearing a rising chorus of concerns from businesses all over the country about disruption of supply chains materials cost increases, and and and loss of markets and things like that. Speaking today at a Bloomberg event. From Ford's perspective, the metals tariffs. Took about a billion dollars of profit from us, which the irony is we source most of that in the US today. Anyways, the metal tariffs, of course, are the Trump administration steel and aluminum tariffs that got this whole import tax ball rolling this past spring, the interesting bit of what hack it said is that this is where the tariff story veers firmly into the that is the way they're supposed to work lane marketplaces run out of sago has that one when the Trump administration's laughed at twenty five percent tariff on steel shipped to the US in June. The idea was we raise the price of foreign steel, and that will force companies that need the raw material to buy domestic instead John Zarrella runs. The trade group global automakers he says, we forgot one thing about tariffs. US steel producers because they're protected now from foreign competition have raised their prices almost to the same level of the tariffs. Domestic steel companies are seeing a boost to their bottom lines. One of the biggest. I US steel projects record revenue growth by the end of this year, but a much larger group is losing out American and foreign companies that manufacture in the US and firms that export goods from this country. But our exports to other countries around the world have now gotten more expensive because other countries are retaliating by imposing tariffs of their own on goods exported from the US automakers face some stiff headwinds right now car sales are down just as they say they need to maximize profits to pay for newer, safer cars and compete technologically.
