Judge Strikes Down Federal Eviction Moratorium, Setting up High-Stakes Appeal

"Eviction moratorium. CDC eviction moratorium last fall was meant to protect public health that allowed pandemic furloughed Americans who couldn't afford their rent to stay put, rather than leaving them homeless and then spreading covert and shelters. Now federal judges rule The CDC doesn't have the authority to delay evictions. The ruling does not affect state and local governments that put their own eviction protections in place A B C's Andy Field in Washington, Facebook's quasi independent oversight board is for now upholding Donald Trump's banned from the platform.

Apple vs Epic with John Gruber

"John gruber. Welcome back It's good to be here peter. Thanks for coming. Thanks for making time. We're not gonna take a lot of time. But i wanted to check in with you about the epic apple case in the trial recording this on wednesday. So we're we're two and a half days into the trial i assume you following it closely I noticed you not a lot of coverage during fire. Also i figured go straight to the source and you have to type anything. You can just talk. You know it is easier to talk about especially at this point I am following. But i am not following hour by hour. It just does. That just doesn't seem like good use of my time. i mean so. I'm trying to get the daily updates and i'm looking at. I mean obviously the big juicy part that's coming out of this are the emails that come out through What's the process called. Whatever you know being entered and coverings. Yeah yeah a little bit of a smaller at all. This stuff was uploaded into the court system last week. So if you wanted to you could have gotten all this last week But no one wants wants to actually go thrilla before we go into the particulars of of what we've heard because we can't see We've been we've been listening to these calls and looking at documents Let's just talk about the case. Rodley i think anyone who's listening to this show understands the broad outlines right this epic arguing the administration monopolist Because of the way they run the app store you are someone. I i often think of referred to as an apple enthusiast so i would think you are mostly sympathetic to apple in this case but i think also you have been increasingly critical about the way apple runs the app store for the last few years so before we get to the specifics of epic and apple. What's your overall. take on the way. Apple runs the store. And and what you'd like to see from them. You thought you said it was going to be a short show. I i would. I think it's useful to break this down. I took a note. I wrote before coming on the show. What exactly is epic asking for. And i know you're asking me my take on the apple store but i kind of feel like epochs suit is a good prism to break a very broad range of complaints out into some discrete ideas.

The story starts before the great depression in the year. nineteen hundred. the american dream is alive and well. The economy is chugging along and agriculture is prospering pennsylvania. It is kind of this. Fresh land of opportunity and german settlers are flocking to your county hoping to grab a piece of the pie. One of these is the blind meyer family. They settled down in your county about a twenty minute drive north of hollow. But they're not making a living off potatoes corn like most of their neighbors. The blind myers are in the business of magic. The father a guy named immanuel blind meyer practices a form of pennsylvania german folk magic known as power. It's this combination of rituals medicinal potions and christian prayers. That are meant to do good so save. Someone's farm is in producing enough crops or they come down with the flu. They could go to a powwow healer like emmanuel for help he'd suggest may be a ceremony or he'd blessing. That could help fix the problem. That might sound niche. But america as a whole is pretty open to spiritualism at this time and an estimated. Half of your county believes in witchcraft. And hexa which is basically the power of which is secure people. As far as they're concerned how is just as real as any medical treatment provided it's done right in the year nineteen hundred emmanuel's five year old son. John comes down with a mysterious illness. The emerald isle has to offer also popular drink in my experience for people to torture with by buying you shot after shot after shot until you're spending and puking in the parking lot talking about jameson will lead us obviously into talking about cannibalism. Yup john jameson. The founder jameson was originally a lawyer from a loa in scotland before he founded his distillery in dublin in seventeen eighty and eighteen o five. He rejoined joined by his son. John jamieson junior who took over the family business for the next forty one years junior built up the business before handing it over to his son. John jameson the third and eighteen fifty. One they were killing it by the turn of the nineteenth century. Jameson distilleries were the second largest producer in ireland of whiskey in one of the largest in the world producing a million gallons annually. Dublin at the time was the center of world whisky production. It was the second most popular spirit in the world after rum. An internationally jamison had h five became the world's number one whiskey and then almost a century later at the end of the nineteenth century. The jameson name would get tarnished a wee bit when reports came back from the congo. The john's great grandson. James s jameson. Jimmy james paid to watch a young girl be killed and eaten. Cannibalism not a great pr moment. Hard to build a successful ad campaign around some cannibalism. What the hell happened in the congo

"In two thousand thirteen lift is available across the united states and through partnerships with ride sharing companies throughout asia. John is originally from greenwich connecticut and his mom wears a necklace with lift logo. I read that somewhere. Is that really true. I think sometimes i tell her embarrasses me is the she wears it with pink mustache which has changed. I heard she's stores here. She has a pair of earrings to wear good sources. Yeah thank you. So in order to understand the lift story we have to go back to what lift grew out of. Which was zimmer. Zim ride is a car pooling company predominantly on college campuses for long distance driving. Can you tell me a little bit more about that. Sure zimrights was for long distance. Car pooling like an old college bulletin board where people used to post. I'm going from to new york and we brought that online you Have a partner. Logan green. You both came to this idea from two different sources really. Can you describe where logan came to this idea from. Yes sure Logan grew up in la so the center of traffic hit being stuck in traffic and he got really into technology and transportation he went to uc. Santa barbara and he wanted to make an experiment out of himself which was not bringing a charter school and seeing how he could get around and so he rode the bus. He used things like craigslist. to find. carpool rideshare partners. Then while he was in school he took a trip to zimbabwe and he saw people which is true in many developing countries sharing rides out of necessity. And they have lots of different names for in zimbabwe. I believe they call it combat system. And it's interesting. When i was researching zim ride. I was like oh how generous of logan green to allow the company to be named after your last name. But in fact zimrights is named after zim. Bob way correct yeah. He named it before i knew him. How did you in logan meet. We have a mutual friend Also named john. I was on facebook one night and saw that logan had posted on john's facebook page that he was starting a website called zim ride and so i reached out to john. We call jonjo and called juancho. I said how well do you know logan. Do you think you know you could connect us now you at the time also had a transportation innovation in your mind. Where did that come from for you. I took a city planning class. My senior year When i was at cornell hotel school and had this amazing professor and he. His first lecture was the history of the world in thirty minutes called rob young and he he teaches texas but the classes called green cities and he walks through history and by zooming out in only thirty minute lecture. You get to see these really large themes about the importance of geography the importance of resources and the movement of those resources from geography to geography. And then how have organized themselves throughout time and you come to realize that we're really in this age of cities. Now you see how we've built our cities around cars instead of around people and to me. This is really unfortunate Because we have all these roads and parking lots for cars that are used only four percent of the time and they're part ninety six percent of the time. The average cost of owning a vehicle in the united states is nine thousand dollars per vehicle per year. There is no greater expense for the american household except for the house. And we only use this thing for percent of the time that to me is a failing transportation hotel four percent occupancy and really high rent buy started thinking what could we do to make our ownership completely optional. You didn't grow up in a city. I you grew up in a suburb of new york. City greenwich connecticut. What did your parents do. My mom was literally a bean counter. She works for a coffee. Company and Does accounting what coffee committee. It's caller menia coffee coffee importer. And then my father worked for dixie cup. Doing customer service and marketing. Did you have a sense as you were growing up in this household that you wanted to be have an entrepreneurial life at least. In retrospect. In retrospect i think it makes sense. I like fixing things solving things. But most of i like making people happy and so as a kid. My first idea was that i wanted to be a donut maker. My mom would take me to dunkin. Donuts and get a maple frosted donuts many mornings when she'd get her coffee And i saw how happy it made myself and others to get that donut. So i thought i'd be a donut maker. And then i loved magic so i went to magic camp and Those are my early interests before. Realizing i loved Hospitality as a way of delighting people. When you say you wanna make people happy. It's such a nice hallmark card thing to say but it so earnest. My goodness That's really nice. What are some other examples of of. You know the happiness that you created in in people's lives before lift. Would you say well. I think i get a lot of joy from french. Tips from being close to my family My parents always made The family very important. My my dad's father was an orphan. My mom's parents were separate. I think so these. These factors led to them really wanting to create a close family. And then i just get a lot of personal satisfaction around Being around people which i think most humans do incidentally you mentioned your family and you have current family as well. Your wife What is her name christina. You met her in spain. Correct how. I asked her for directions. I was studying abroad and sylvia in Southern spain and komo's savar alamosa the us which the street's name was the love of god. She said. actually. I was granted some access when i was going to be interviewed by the department of justice. For you know the investigations. That to mr bar turning general hasn't Donald trump's request. But i was granted that access so given that access only after i finished And do you have pet interests. Like imagine if i were you and i had spent thirty years in this job i would have been tracking some things towards the end that my own curiosity would really want access. I would want to be able to check up on some things that i cared deeply about or spent a lot of time trying to help resolve just also your own. Curiosity would want to check in on some things. Wouldn't it well. I am very curious number things that worked to throughout the course of my career. But i don't believe that former officials should be allowed to access classified material in order to advance their own. Maybe personal interests financial interests or whatever there are a number of individuals informed directors who retained clearances because to serve on certain boards of directors or companies that do classified work it requires individuals to have current security clearances tops clearances. I never pursued any of those types of physicians role. So i didn't need the clearances for that purpose. But i can see why former presidents vice presidents would need if i had a real reason and i think the reason was in the national interest to gain access to something for example if i was invited to go overseas and speak to foreign officials on my former counterparts and i needed to have a better sense of what it is that they might be doing or up to then. I would make that request and i believe the cia. Then would grant the access as appropriate. But i think you could think of even the most simple example of someone taking over some managerial job at a business and they figure out how to get the break room cool you want to be able to call the previous guy go like hey what was the trick to get the break room cooled off without making the rest of.

"Could in fact recount a lot of my experiences with accuracy but unfortunately since i have irritated mr trump. Mr trump directed the cia not to share anything. Classified with me. So i had to rely on my memory as well as some conversations. I had with former colleagues but tall former directors who wrote memoirs were given prompt and full access to their classified files when they were director so that they could in fact a write their memoirs with some degree of not just accuracy but also a depth of of coverage. Yeah now what conventionally happens. When people retire doesn't ex-president still have access to like classified information or briefings or are they let go of that. Well they can request a briefing at any time a former president. And they don't get you know the daily presidents daily brief with when they're office but a lot of former presidents and i have briefed for presidents. Who requested a briefing on this matter. Worth going gonna be traveling overseas or or meeting with foreign officials a retain their clearances for the rest of their life a former directors of cia also retain their clearances. It's for the benefit of a government because it allows their successors to contact their predecessors and have conversations about. Would you think about this person. Or why do we do it that way. Or can you give me a little bit of context in terms of this capability or whatever. So it facilitates those discussions. So even though mr trump or the white house announced to great fanfare in the summer of twenty eighteen that he was revoking. Mike clearances. Because i had the audacity to speak out against him by clearances were never revoked because there was no legal basis to do so however he did send a written directive to the cia intelligence community forbidding anyone from discussing classified information with me which is why than the cia was unable to share my classified files. When i was writing my memoir so it's probably safe to assume that you're access to that will resume here shortly. Then yeah. I would think that. biden immigration. Many of the people. I know who i think. Are going to be joining. Mr president-elect biden and i know joe biden very well having worked with him for eight years. I would presume that they're not going to continue a lot of the activities in actions and decisions of mr trump so i would only go into review my classified files for purpose. "So it's like just like he couldn't stop powerful was that kind of the coolest thing to do is to be like, don't tell you don't tell anyone. And like you know, there's also this like subversion of expectation like Jesus was you know it talks about the suffering servant like that is not who they thought. The Messiah was going to be he was going to like come out of the you know out of the stump of David a root of just you know all of these things and so it could just be like, Hey, you need to wait until this whole story gets told before you start yapping about what's actually going on. Okay. Let's talk about Mary wife of Columbus. There's just not a lot known about her unfair burden. But she may have been Joseph's sister-in-law. So Jesus aunt cut we know she was just sister-in-law because it says it's Mary sister, right? It's but it but it says Mary sister not it's Joseph's brother's wife. That is who she is traditionally, but I mean like may if the Scripture says it's Mary sister. Right, as it says in the Bible that it's Mary sister, right then that would be bad nature Joseph sister-in-law I get you saying it's also like it could have been his sister-in-law separately from it. Being Mary Sister Right what I'm saying is Shh Mary of Columbus Clovis was potentially Joseph's brother right? We're saying the same thing are we won't because if the bobble says I, think you're saying direct sister and she's saying it could have been less expensive. Than what the Bible says just because of some of the translation stuff. Okay. Yeah. Closest may have been simians father. So Simeon was an early church father the second bishop of Jerusalem which would make Simeon was like a big kind of second generation Christian essentially making semi Jesus cousin they're to me they're too many Mary's like there's too many Mary's confusing in the tax gap using in the original we just don't know but the so the takeaway though is this isn't just like a Mary who's passing through town like a drifter. Mary, this was probably someone who has like tangentially related to. Jesus in some way way. Yeah. So if she's not so even if she's not married sister, which seems weird that we would translate it as she's Mary sister, right? Well, there's this whole which I think is an interesting thing to note because like how are people supposed to expect to like if every translation says it's Mary sister and they were like I was translated right right well, and also like there's this traditional viewpoint that an who is Mary's mother saint an had three daughters from from three different husbands not like in a way in a like they all di Di way not seriously but. Anyway she named them all Mary. So that's also were just like George Foreman Yeah? Yeah. Jerry just like George Foreman. Yeah. She's the Bible that's what it gets. And this also ties into you like what's up would Jesus's family and widened Jesus Family Take Over Guardianship of Mary? I think Jamie I think you're right when you talked about how his brothers didn't believe in him Jesus talked a lot about kingdom bonds over familial bonds.

"Right? He's not human Jesus anymore but a moment like this is like Oh. Yeah. Like you gotTa make sure you pay your taxes you know to your waitresses, waiters and waitresses he still very much in the moment of I'm still human here and I have a sensibility and I liked that that concept is so just think so lovely because it's also not about necessarily what he's worried about but maybe what she's worried That she's worried about what's about to happen to me was going to. God, but she also is also Human Brian going how am I going to make it in the world? I'm going to be a you know a decrepit widow sure and I love that he is speaking to her worries you in a moment at that he's dying. Yeah and if you want if you choose to interpret this is the larger that exchange as a larger metaphor for him trying to comfort everyone in the. Everyone left behind like you're gonNA be okay maybe you can do that but I just liked that aspect of him not just being like I'm getting crucified this sucks. But also think about other people, right? Good Job Jesus Okay. So that's the scripture for this new epilogue what happens to John does he just take care of Mary does he just have her living in mother-in-law sweet at his house? He does until she dies and then he actually leaves he goes to emphasise He writes three letters. They'd be famously become strong second and third John. He's been exiled because he was preaching the Gospel and he gets exiled to Patmos where he gets a vision that's really weird and it's a book we will never cover on the show maybe. The Bible's I. So he writes. Revelation. He eventually makes it back to emphasise is. A very ordinary. Like average daft much as you could ask for in about ninety eight. So, he lives like a long time. And then tradition holds. He's the only disciple to die of old age rather than to be martyred. Again. He's always telling us he's beloved. Listen in first second and third John He does not use his own name he refers to himself as the elder. Oh yet again, never bring himself and here's my favorite fun fact Turlington. From the late second early third century wrote that before the Romans banished him to Patmos, they brought him into a coliseum. They dumped him in a VAT of boiling oil Kerr and when he emerged unharmed, the entire Coliseum converted to Christianity owes nap. Good John Jock because he just really doing that just isn't really what that's like an NC INC like right after the intermission of the moment that okay let's see. Who or what the L. for you in the story gets disciples this at it's really took the not because of what they do but because we what we think of them because of how they act I, think the disciples bad pr for a very long time because we've always been like those days win God literally chose them because he saw something in them that they're flawed I like that peters like like you said I don't know where to put my hand. And just imagined James and John Going we have to we have to leave we have the league. And then they don't they just and I feel like we. The church teaches. With one breath are like, well, they were the most unassailable. But. Then we're also like I can't believe they've been there. So dumb. Yeah. They're not just every men or women you know like..

"Thank you and now back to the show verse six when you saw his mother in disciple whom he loves sandy nearby also disciple who super fast and runs very fast. Forty Times he said to his mother woman behold your son for seven. They said to disciple behold your mother and from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. So this is This kind of beautiful it's Kinda. Sad. Yeah. But it's also for me the stressful because I'm the kind of guy who I strive for clarity right? I want understanding and that's why I've never wanted to be on a game show because I feel like they explain the rules but they don't explain the nuance of the rules and I'm always worried I'm not gonna you on the price is right or just survivors like this challenge do I carry the bag of corn here in tropic it's just really confusing and just feel like Geez rushed like I. Know He's going through some stuff in the moment he was literally die he's literally dying but also I imagine just generally having some questions of like does she live with me? Do I call her once a week like how does this work I mean culturally okay. So in the Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible that I love it said that Mary was probably a widow at this age because she was in her forty, right? Hello. Wow that's tough with a lot of life. We don't have a lot longer to which is so funny because. We're going to see how long John Lived. So it's nuts but that because Jesus was the oldest child, it would have been his house legal responsibility to care for his because women didn't have any legal seating without a male advocate when it by another male in the family if it wasn't someone. So naming somebody was important like it was something that he should do. Yes. It's weird that it wasn't one of his brothers Yeah. I wouldn't or why was he worried about it if it's like what we know so little about I, mean we know James a pillar of the church, but there's argument that he didn't become back till. After Jesus sure from dad that his his siblings did not believe he was the Messiah. And really chastised his mother for that. You know there's lots of controversy from somebody will say those those guys are not brothers cousins. It's as it gets a little murky maybe Eric speak more into now. So but I just think. It says a lot about the relationship if you go this is the this is the woman who I love when it was important. This whole understand I'm not just our son part of a story. That she's a critical part of I want her to be taken care of I'm going to let this guy he's the guy eight. He's the only guy left standing. Yeah. Yeah. You know I think just like we're talking about Peter having this transcendent religious experience, and then to talk about like a ten placement on the mountain, you know it reaffirms and. His humanity I think similarly like you're saying this moment a so I think it's easy to get swept away with. He's become Lightning Guy God cloud came by he's crucify is GONNA rise? Again. He starts to just become God at that point..

"It feels like a clay. It's a lot of Mary's and you know what's funny. Here's what I love about scholars and Aaron can maybe explain this I looked at Mary wife of Columbus because I was trying to figure out who was yes. Other than just her husband. Yeah and it was so funny how many scholars we're like we're not really sure who? was and I meant it literally says in the Bible Mary, the wife of Clovis. And it's his mother sister. Why is there confusion on whether it? I love scholars who like just don't know if we don't know but wasn't enough that was Mary Sister Cope is really mean though. Jesus sister could be a metaphor Jamie. "Our top menu we have the casting page where our beloved Cristiana has posted every picture of anyone. We've ever cat that's right and it's really just for my purpose for when I did I cast that person yet and I go back to because I'm like what episode was that person Oh that's so thank you, Christiane So today we have a few new players three we're going to talk about I. Is James who he is also a disciple. He is the brother of our subject today, John? He's in the inner circle. He what we know about him big picture is the first apostle to be martyred and they're only two disciples to in the Bible their recorded. We talked about the other one last episode, which was Judas and he did not write the book of James, which is found later in the new test confusing. Using again, Mary's and James Speaking of Mary's Mary wife of Globus Jesus Auntie. Think. So maybe beer into Dulles. So she's also into CEPA as well and and then we have John Right. Yes, and we've had John The fun part is like this isn't going to be a John. He's there. He's certainly at the party is going to be a John Heavy episode but I think that's okay because John is really been threaded and bread trump throughout the season and I think that's why we wanted to end. With him because she had so many encounters with him already, and it would seem like of all the disciples left it feel it would feel weird not to talk about just. Yup. So he is one of Jesus's at twelve disciples. He's actually mentioned by name in all the gospels except the one named after him he never uses his own name. He wrote you. He does refer to himself as beloved decide that's why the. Because you would call them humble but then you're like maybe not. A prominent leader in the early church. Actually Paul. The apostle points to him as the authority that they should look to you and making decisions. He's actually in more biblical accounts than any of the other twelve disciples. Okay. some even he proudly beats Peter yet again sure sure. He's the author of five books in the Bible John his own epistles. First Sean Second Jonathan John which are weird Listen you just read them they're weird. Things like love but then there's a lot of. And then he wrote the Book of Revelation His dad's name was Zebedee. Fishermen along with his brother, James and Jesus. gave the May WWF worthy nickname crash, the sons of Thunder I. Love so much the only ones that get a nickname it's a really good nickname. Well, it comes from Luke nine. He said they had a thunderous nature because there was like this group of Maertens who did not welcome Jesus into their village and James and John were like Jesus to you want us to call down from heaven and destroy them. We will receive Jesus. Oh, even murder them and Jesus was like okay boys now. And you're now the fun. So John himself is in two circles of three. He's in this inner circle. In, the disciples which Peter John and James and then he's also one of the three considered the three pillars of the church, which also Peter John and James but yet a different James Okay..

"Episode of Bible Binge on when your host talks for joining me, he's always dressed in dazzling white clothes. You actually are you actually aren't widely wearing white after Labor Day sucks. Okay. So here's the deal the Bible Binge Show where we take stories from the Bible and we recap them as though they were movie book or a TV show and we say movie booker TV show. That's what we usually do on our other show about pop culture the podcast with Nazi Jamie where we talk about popular culture sacrilege every Wednesday and before we begin we just. WanNa be clear that the Bible Bench has no agenda. The show is meant to be bent Jellicoe Avatar. We just think that the Bible has some pseudo stories and we'll talk more about them in a voice that is more every man or every woman. The conversation that will take place episode is meant to be more casual, not out of disrespect, but in an effort to better understand. The story, this season of the Bible bench is all about that Ragtag Group of during acolytes we lovingly refer to the disciples. This is the season finale of the classic episodes but make sure you just go to wherever you listen to podcasts subscribed trial. You'll know when we start back season eleven plus don't forget to follow along with us on instagram and twitter at the Bible. Binge and finally here at the Bible Bench, we urge you to love others as you love yourself and share the show social media and if you WANNA. Fall along as we go the main Biblical scriptures, the story will cover is Luke Nine, twenty, eight through thirty, six in John Nineteen. Twenty five through twenty seven or Jamie time for us to transfigure out this story. Do you get? The data's been. It's good. That's good. Yes, we are in this final episode you. We didn't get to cover all of the disciples because there's just we can't really truly what do we know about Bart Boring I was going to say there's not enough con- come after me Aaron I don't care he is. But in this episode we're packing everything we could possibly pack in into episode. So we have a lot of players. In this one, obviously we have Jesus. We don't cast him because we're not stupid we have. Peter. You can learn all about Peter in episode. One of the season he is portrayed by WHO Jordan. peele. Jordan peele you still feel good about eleven. So for my favorite plus Jordan Peele guys per tip. He directed won an for writing the film get out, which was actually our secret cinema. For people who are enrolled in. Bible bench seminary. Also in this episode, we have Mary the mother of Jesus now she was first featured in season one episode, six family tree of Jesus, and then she got. Basically got a whole season about herself in season four, which is our advent seasons right? Who did you cast is Mary. That is a play by Villa Davis. Okay. So she was a controversial casting yet. The Tom. Because we were talking about her having a baby in her teenage years like my. Old and it's like she was fifties never been A. You know that she was born forty and a great actress. But really, I, like the long view you had. Yes. Because this is where it really pays hand dividends here..

Eight years in the making none other than Papa. John Himself and the studio welcome and thank you. Well thank you thank you so I mean I'm a I'm frankly I can't believe I'm sitting certain across from me right now. The field is mutual. So you had mentioned to me that you you had thought of reaching out to me but pop the Papa John Corey directors corporate. We're not we're not savvy. I've been wanting to talk with you for eight years. You're hard to get hold of frankly but I don't know but I think they're just a little more conservative. I've always thought this would be a lot of fun. I hope I was right. Coming into you'd be it's GonNa be it's GonNa be a great it's going to be a journey Well now that you're you're no longer beholden hold into corporate. So are you in a way. Is this a big middle finger to them. Now that we're doing this No not at all. I'm probably Papa. John's the biggest fan. I'm a even now. I Love Pizza and I love people and the people at Papa. John's they're the ones that made the company great. You know you you bill. Five thousand stores out a broom closet and you got to do that with great people but no franchisees. I love them ploys. I Love Them. And I'm their the biggest fans. We love the Franchisees. We hate the board of directors right but the words in your mouth. I mean I'll I I won't put the words in your mouth but I'll say it for all here. Those sons of bitches are they but they gotta be scared that you're on here now. I mean you got documents with Pizza Pie. Literally Literally Pie Charts charm with a pie Here's the right word. I you know we. We felt like the some decisions be made the last couple of years. We're not exactly in the best interests of the system There's nothing that's happened with Papa. John's last twenty. You're thirty months. That wasn't predictable. And it's not been good Would they be in said. They're struggling and We're hoping that things get it better. And they'll pull themselves out of this mess. Do you WANNA go back. Do you want to be the CEO on the directors. No I don't want to be. CEO You back on the board. No No oh Let's let it run. Its course that you would have. Let's see what's going to happen. I mean so far it's not been good The thing that scares me the most is. There's there's nobody on the board or really in a leadership that has any pizza experience. The pizza category there no experience and a very very dangerous dangerous Everybody wants to do pizza. Everybody thinks they want to be in the pizza business. But it's a it's a really a a different Animal I mean. It's it's tough I mean it's we really got to know the business when you say they're dangerous you do mean that they're what you mean by that. Well you know when you make good decisions. Good things happen and You know people prosper when you make bad decisions bad things happen and the last twenty four months for me to sit. Sit back and watch what's happened to the Franchisees and watch happened. The the employee's I got a call Friday. We had a young lady Robin Kennedy Been With the company twenty five years boo just out the door. Two weeks ago. five days before Christmas. Give or take a rob porter been with the company. Twenty eight years boom out the door notice so when you're trying to build a culture because we're really not in the pizza business work more in the people business so when you're trying to build a culture that really promotes creativity and ownership In Pride And you do things like that. It kind of runs counter productive There's so much ground to talk to cover. We've got the pizza conspiracy. We've got got the media company that apparently extorted you and the company But let me start from the top do do I call you papa. What do people call you papa? What about your friends and family do they call you? Papa yes everyone calls you papa. Yes and so when you. When did you become papa? That was interesting because we started doing the ads.
