"The ghost grumpy cat. Dog's purpose. I read the book, I keep on wanting to watch the movie, but I haven't the dog dies like four times over the course of the movie zero point zero zero percent, chance I will ever see journey not mistaken. I haven't seen the actual movie. The book was actually very good. I really enjoyed the book it is really sad. Like you will definitely cry while you're reading it. So as long as you like tears on your pages. But it's really good. While written very good story. And it is her warming before we get into, to touch your heart warming. Worms. Parasite before we get into to John wick the, the, the sun is also a star. I saw somebody review that the trailer for it or not. But they basically said that if you work if you weren't sold on the trailer, you're not going to be sold the movie because the trailer is the movie, have you been? The really pretty girl from black ish. Right. I believe, so. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So basically, she's leaving she's leaving she's got twenty four hours with this guy, and he says that he I can make you fall in love with me and twenty four. Before sunrise. Within twenty four hours. It's been together before they're gonna leave going to John which can't wait to see it. The first movie was such a we were talking about earlier, but it was such a fun surprise it. I, I heard about John wig. I didn't see Vader, I saw it after it was already done. And it seems like just another one of those sort of throwaway Kiana Reeves movies straight tube net flicks DVD, and then watched it and was just like bought away at how much fun and how unique and different that first film was second, one was okay. I think it lacked, the style of the first one and the, the, the directors who helmed the first one is one of the director of one of the two guys stayed one of the more the other guy should have stayed with him. I would have been, but I'm super looking forward to, to, to chapter three going to going to see today. Plus imaging, never hurts, right? No Mori McShane is always a good thing. I have not see. Well, I saw the first round with the puppy. A dog died that I could stand it, but I walked out of the movie when the dog to the beginning of soda. I knew the dog died before I saw the movie. So I was mentally prepared for it, but I still want that, but ever be mentally just cements his rage. Oh, yes. Just you're, you're just like I want him to kill everyone. Oh, yeah. The whole movie does say. Heroes is so much handsomer than he used to be even like that guy. Keeps getting better. Looking is insane. Has aged. Well, yeah, he looks so he lives all hands on that horse on the poster see that movie my wife, the John wick poster. Fun fact. The fight choreographers because the original John, wick is, it's really what the, the thing that's unique about it is just these, I'm not big into hand to hand combat fights. It's just not realistic. They're okay, but I'd rather see spaceships and stuff. Around. Jackie Chan a little space, but what they do with the with the gun play the gung FU in this film. I just couldn't I it just blew me away. They use they hire the choreographers for the action sequences for John wick, the Russo brothers did. When they did civil war. Oh, I believe it. Yeah. Especially if the parent in the very beginning of civil war when he has that, that fight with that other dude on the on the, on the ship crossbones seen any of the John wick movies, and I understand. They're good. They're fun. They're action movies as story. Good. Get into the story. The first movie is more, self contained, but there's implication of this larger mythology. The second movie kind of sets up this mythology that I think is really going to play out with the continental in the hotel, and it's you really should see him. It's world building my list. I mean, among the they've got to be in the top ten action movies of the decade. I mean, especially if you say I mean, you know, like marvel movies one well John week for I'll watch the first one this weekend. And to really, really stylish, this was the big stink over hotel artists, because there was there was there was some talk early before people really knew about the movie that this might have been other John week film, and it wasn't, but that element of that hotel, and that whole thing with John whip films. It is it is world building within both of those movies. And so, yeah, the stories the stories fantastic. DVD and Blu area leases this week. We've got isn't it romantic and how to train your dragon three the hidden world? Green dragon series is is really good too. But I really enjoyed them the third one. Did you see the third one? I did it did not appoint stretching. Those are really solid, you know, apart from Pixar movies. I really really enjoy them very well done just very, very well done. I mean, just visually the, the graphics and everything are just amazing. And the story is just really good. Yeah, yeah. They're fun movies. I haven't seen the third one but I was really, you know, going into it, expecting it to be a movie that was geared towards my kids. And I would just sort of, you know, suffer through it getting through it, just like most enemy kids movies, but no. Very, very good. It's actually just story really. I found that the choice of voice actors took me out of it a little bit. Jay Baer show me, who are I don't mind him and other stuff. I just never felt like that voice fit that character. And it also made it hard for me to kind of grasp. How old the characters were now thirty five it's a cartoon, so I don't need to over think. But that was just something that always struck me. And isn't it? Romantic is the rebel Wilson. It is really funny. I wanna see that is like she is in the real world. And she goes, like a head injury or something, and she wakes up, but she's kind of in the a romantic comedy universe rules, romantic comedies, applies PG, thirteen romantic comedy, too. So I heard that's quite funny and rebel Wilson is funny, hasn't been in a lot of good movies. Yes. But she is funny. Yeah. She has the capacity to be funny but it's not often. Utilized. Right. So, yeah, I wanna see that one. I think that it's like it's not. Movie that I would have paid in theaters. And I'm glad they didn't. But I think it'd be a fun movie to watch at home. Oh, yeah. This is a stream at Amazon prime movie. I sure I share. Yeah. Absolutely. Interesting backed kind of game, affirms related, but kit, Harrington actually is does one of the voices for how to train your dragon three which I know but he plays area, which is the I don't know if he's in any of the other movies. He's like one of he's like the tough guy that right? Okay. Character if you're wiping out on YouTube find it if you haven't seen, they do this little behind the scenes clip, Sam, have you seen it with kit Harrington, and the and the dragon and? I don't think so they took kit Harrington, and they put them on the sound stage and then they see gee, I'd into into this into this into these scenes of him reading, and all that with toothless shows up, they're not kidding this hysterical. I must have watched it like ten times, so damn funny. I have to look. Is usually stuff doesn't work when they do something outside of the movies and bring in the voice actor this. I wish they would do a whole thing about it, because it was just it was just it was just that funny. There's nothing big new out on streaming but movies out this week, ten years ago angels, and demons and the brothers bloom. Uh-huh. What are you doing? Others bloom because I up until I wanna like Ryan Johnson as a person. I think his movies are unwatchable for the most part. And I remember seeing brothers broom being like, oh, look Anderson movie, I don't I don't particularly care for us Anderson films. I really like even before Ryan Johnson did or was announced to do the last jet. I Sabra bloom and I personally really enjoyed it. That was the first movie I really liked it was last Jeddah. I didn't like is indie movies. I like blockbuster, I watched it because I, I really liked Looper I like two-thirds of loop. And so I went back in brothers bloom is, is super quirky. I it does I will say this. I am still to this day, while very happy that Ryan Johnson did the last Jedi. I, I am still to this day SU prized that he was chosen to direct that film based off of brick the brothers bloom, and Looper. Don't know how that happened. I don't mind I love the last Jedi. A door that movie. But even when they announced that I went okay, this is this is interesting. I don't know how that how did that leap? But at the same time, they ended up hiring Gareth Edwards only done that indie film, monsters to do rogue one so, but those. The Stasi Davinci code. The second of three Davinci code movies, and they get worse as he even Davinci code movie, not that good. But angels and demons bad haven't seen any of those movies. You should watch brothers bloom. I think I think it's I think you'd enjoy it. It's quirky. It's funny. It's, it's a dolt. It's, it's, it's I, I really get a kick Wes Anderson is that was interesting to me is too esoteric. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A Wes Anderson movie. Either like was Anderson movies. Right. Pretty much on the whole or you don't see many of them, don't care for them with the exception being moon rise kingdom. That was fantastic. I love I like most of them except for life aquatic, so I would not compare because I did not like us Anderson movies. And I, I liked this movie before he and this was not my bias seeping in which happens all the time. This was before the last Jedi is, I'm not retroactive going movie because she did the. Which I do not. Movies out twenty years ago. Speaking of Star Wars Star Wars. Episode one, the Phantom Menace, Notting hill, and the thirteen full the thirteen four thirteen. With Craig Beer, cO minute Craig Beer, cO in Gretchen MOl, right? Gretchen mol. Loveliness thirty four was like a matrix rip off and defend Star Wars rip off. Twenty years, it feels longer than that. Doesn't it longer feels like forever ago? The came out in nineteen ninety nine so when they're all all the is just happened. So revenge was fourteen and then attack of the clones was seventeen and so the Phantom Menace was was was twenty do. So John, you're obviously, a huge guy, then everything would like what was your Phantom Menace experience? When you walked out of the future for the first time, but was like the thing that you actually I know I remember it for me specifically. Yeah. I walked out of it thinking that I really enjoyed it. But it didn't it didn't for me in the way that I had hoped I wouldn't say, I was not disappointed but certainly look, I'll be honest, it was a lot the same way that I walked out of the force awakens, and the last Jedi just the.

"The weekly dish presents. Here's the top two. Our? All right. This is the portion of the show where we give you the top two an hour to two things. We are obsessed with at the moment. So I'm going to talk about the lamb that I did last week because this is one of my top two and our tastes because I ordered you know, I was going. I decided I should make lamb for the vegetarian at Hanukkah, which is so funny to me. Look delicious. About the fact of like, I didn't want her to have to make a big meat entree. And so and like I knew that my giant meeting child was coming to our house. There should be. I thought it would be fun. So anyway, also, I in, you know, this listeners, I don't really cook lamb. I've done the wonderful shoulder in the old pizza oven. And that is something that's very specific. Where you just like leave it and go so that was lovely. I did that for Easter one year. But this was an attempt at something. I just had. I just had this thing where I had a memory of a really good piece of medium, rare certifier roasted lamb, and I just wanted that. So basically, I also wanted to be able to slice it at my house. And then bring it on a platter because that's also a thing. I didn't want to have to cut into a big hunk thing right while I was there. I had when I saw the platter of meat on your Instagram. I was like oh my gosh. That looks so delicious. And she did I know I know. And so what I want to tell you guys. I went to MacIntosh clones out in Saint Bonnie. My favorite butcher of all time. And I bought I got them. It was a frozen leg of lamb that they had and it was vacuum sealed and everything else. Basically thought in the shower because I bought that on Sunday morning, and I threw that baby. In the shower. I let it have a little time to itself. I got it out. It was fine. It's unfrozen you showered with the lamb. I could not shower. I let him have a shower. Oh, okay. Put the in the shower the constant flow of hot water on a frozen hunk of meat like that. Have you never done that? No, your best thawing method. Okay. I've done it in the sink. I've never done it in the shower. Our because then I can shut the door and the room can get steamy. And it helps to keep it kind of. It's a little bit softer than direct flow of like hot water or a bath. It's just if I love it better. Polly's got a question. That's what you're supposed to use cold water. You are. Time. Just checking I'm just saying I didn't I had zero time because I wanted to do it slow and low instead the reverse series what I'm talking about here today because again, this is not just for lamb reverse years. Great for like a big media rose like considering doing it again with prime rib for Christmas day, yum. So what I think of so the key to this. You guys is you I I you kinda give it us like ideally, you'd wanna like salts dry brine the outside of it and let it sit for a couple of hours. I had about twenty minutes that I had to do. Right. But that's okay. The the key scoring the fat and putting the salt mixture on top of the fat. And then you want to do is you just wanna stick that baby in a low oven, and I did two seventy five in the oven. You know, it's just sitting rack I put a little bit of beer in the bottom of the of the roasting pan. So that there's just a little bit of moisture. And then I let it sit there for I think it was three hours and it set there for three hours. I kept the kept my little thermometer. They kept going at it with the therm. And this is a this was a semi bone in. So there's part of it was boneless and part of it had the bone in it. And so I had to kind of watch that at one point the boneless part was ready and the bone in part was not a right at one thirty. So then I tended that boneless part with a little bit of foil. Right. Just to kind of slow the cooking down. And then about twenty about thirty minutes later, I could pull it out and let it rest, and I let it rest for forty minutes. And then you just kind of let it that's when the juices kinda get all perfect inside. You don't touch it. You don't mess with that. You don't poke it you just let it sit without. It's hard for me. I know the not touching poking disturbing. The while that's happening. I crank the oven back up to five hundred. And then I stuck it back in for about. Maybe ten minutes, maybe five minutes and like that hot hot hot kind of gives that fat. It gets real crispy and Brown and beautiful on top. And basically, then I pulled it out. And then I sliced it and brought it on the tray. And it was that's all it needs to be. I know. Know. So that was my you can do that like the reverse. Here's what it's gonna do is gonna make it that beautiful medium, rare pink or medium pink. All the way to the end without that weird gray Brown stripe. The grey Brown. Stripe is a is often seen at our home. I'm just sitting. All right. What's your first one? Okay. My first one is a new product that I discovered oh called Cova KO V A L from Chicago. It's made in Chicago. It's a cranberry, Jen. Yeah. That's a nice little distillery down there. They make good whiskey to apparently, I tasted this at cirtics. And I really liked Jen. I liked that botanical. I like five five five on ice here that has the vodka, and they have a lemon ginger, but this was like it tasted really like, Jen. So very botanical floral forward, but with just a little hint of the sweetness of cranberry, but not cloying and not sweet necessarily and beautiful packaging. Like it just looked like a beautiful holiday gift. So it's cove all K O V A, Al Jin liquor. Good was my top two an hour to. Okay. I just really it was delicious. I'm excited to have some at the cabin this weekend. Gosh, that sounds neat. Yeah. I love that. I did actually use that five spice the lemon ginger five on ice on ice five with a little bit of cranberry and soda water. And that made a really lovely. Oh, yeah. And they have a cranberry vodka too. So you can mix both of them. Yeah. I did not have that wasn't there. But that was amazed that lemon ginger to is really awesome insider. Yeah. Or it's a lemon ginger vodka or it's really good just like in like a hot. If you're doing like trying to ward off colds, and you're doing that kinda cool. Okay. My second one quickly is just say it pound cake. My my mom's pancake recipe, which you have on your site is Stephanie's Almas pound cake. Yup. But it's my mom, and what I gotta tell you is that I made that I made that for someone. And I realize why am I not making more pound cake for the holidays? I tend to make pancake during the rest of the year. I don't think of it as a holiday thing. And I don't know why. Because it's a perfect thing. Because if you make an entire. Bundt pound cake and then slice it up like divvied up between people. That's a that. Is a good gift? All right. My second is going to be analyzed barbecue. Oh, I'm John whip Lee is doing amazing barbecue outside of the able brew house. I did a podcast episode with him and really just spent time talking to him about his journey about how he feels about barbecue. He's going to actually be out there with a JD frat ski this today and tomorrow, and they're doing pudgy do you? Okay. I didn't. I've never heard of this. I what's called a sandwich iron that goes in the fire pit, and you basically make little like hot pockets. Yeah. With brad. And so they're going to be making some homemade pudgy pies with venison and wild rice over at the as barbecue truck again right outside of able brewing in northeast. So that's our top two in our to all right? Yeah. There we go. We're going to go ahead and.

"This Brian de says, my favorite scene and my favorite scene of the movie is when John wick time travels to write his history report. Napoleon and Sigmund Freud and ABRAHAM LINCOLN and games con-. Yeah, I like that one too. That was a good scene in that God. I cannot wait for Bill and Ted three. I don't know what the plot is going to be, but I don't really wanna know in home sitting there in the theater, but they just they better make it awesome. Had the plot for awhile it circulated on the internet in so you can actually see what it's about it it. It should be interesting. Okay, cool. I'm for it. Ralph ransom said an oath is an oath is an oath about when we were talking about blood. I agree, Ralph Princess rookies thanks. John whip is about love and forgiveness. Forgiveness. Interesting. Savell these people like like more like have a very methodical way of forgiveness. It's like there's a whole process of it. You'll be forgiven. If you do this this. That's an interesting thing that I'm curious is if there is some sort of holy, not often talked about way that John wit can redeem himself in the eyes of the continental or something like that. You know, there's only one way to re- to reinsert yourself and re-communicate yourself in the continental. But it is an ancient Tway that nobody has ever done. I can see something like that happen ago yet. See because they do talk about I for an eye right at a certain point in this in the second one, I don't know if they do in the first one, but they definitely they mentioned at this point in and because I'm really interested in the idea of Justice and what is Justice. This is something that I think about. So if it's a film that aims at forgiveness, it's a film. Mm, that complicated says that will maybe less maybe about forgiveness and more. It's a film about Justice. We should say, but the idea is that Justice can only be carried out by, you know, it's like Gandhi says, I, for nine makes the whole world blind. It's about escalation. It's about okay. What we have is you must do this thing for me because I did this thing for you. So it's a one to one quantified measure equivalents, and then will you just my sister therefore, now I must act in an appropriate manner because again, that's the rules of glitzy. And so there's this, there's this law of Justice that undercuts that seems to condition this undergrad world. But the question is, can you have a different type of Justice? And that's that's what breaks the cycle. So that doesn't just simply repeat. And maybe that's what that ancient tradition will do. Like that's what Jesus comes in. That's the Jesus myth or the IRA Smith or various other the sacrificial lamb, right? Rene Girard talks about the idea of the scapegoat. That's where those things come in. 'cause they break that cycle of medic repetition that just endlessly reproduces Pune. Nativity or retribution, and you get a different type of Justice. Something that can break that that circular endless cycle of violence to maybe be coal, but I have a feeling it's probably going to end a lot like the first one in that John wick is almost dead has flashbacks of the wife that he loved somehow pulse through. And then I'm sure something reaffirming with the dog. The end, I think John Wixom and the feet, the president United States who is a murderer keys. The United States Treasury pay off every assassin not to kill me more and make world peace the end. You're missing dog. Adopt a dog in every pound in America? Yes, exactly. And then let them free. Last comment. Last one. Jess? Oh, Jess? Oh, says John wick would never break pinky pompous, but he he didn't. I mean, he he ended up doing it and then she also said, you know, he said, don't do this. You're gonna regret it. Yeah, I think he, he regretted it. He did. And then a Jess, oh, also said is this, is that a tiny little pumpkin on our desk? That's what makes this alive cast. This is we have. We didn't even realize that. For Halloween or Halloween job production design crew. That's right. Speaking of which means show October twenty six with the funhouse dudes. Ten pm in l. a. we'll let you guys know about tickets are voice mails, two one, three, five, four, eight zero, seven..

"My guess is patiently wait if you all of that. And now let's say Hello, please to the lovely and talented. I only sky. Hello? Hello? Yeah. So my first question of course is regarding the research insisting you're born in Hempstead London, England. I was born in London. I think ham said it's outside of London. London. Yeah. You were born in the city the property, but I think my parents lived outside, but there is a clinic in Saint John's wood. That was very groovy. I think like. Under president. Mia Faeroes kid was born there and it was like the clinic that you had your baby if you were groovy London or or you know, sort of type of person. I think that's, but it's no longer there, but it was in Saint John's whip, but we didn't live in Saint John's wood. What we're, I think maybe we weren't him sit. I don't know. I'm Miley knowledge of Hamm says it's kinda posh. I mean, I think my father had a country house. I don't know what lot there is a picture of fantastic little country house. I mean, you know, yeah, I became a little friendly with three days a couple of years ago. This movie he wrote and directed night and they have a place. Okay. Yeah. Hamson heath? Yeah, the name of the measure. I mean, yeah, what's not to like? I mean, I guess it's can be gloomy and know. Right? A wise. Yeah, I guess not. Yeah, still my favorite. I love lend city. Yeah, it's good. Yeah, I know. I feel similarly. Yeah, and I'm from what I think is a magical city of San Francisco. Yeah. And then I started traveling a little bit abroad, and when I landed in London, there was a sense of, okay. Yeah, this is. Yeah, I feel that about New York. It's funny. My stepfather said he loves his New Yorker, but we were in San Francisco and he said, I love it here and I was gonna live here. And then I chose l. a. and he said, I think I chose l. a. because I just needed something to complain about it, and I would have been too happy in San Francisco, very well put, you know, because he likes that. He doesn't like the hot sun and he like he would have liked, you know, walking around little. More. Yeah, he's a, you know, I'm also sort of Jewish and he's Stu ish. I don't know. There's that thing of complaining complaining DNA told my teenager, she's in boarding school. I didn't want her to go and she went and now she wants to come home and I said, you can come home, but you can't complain anymore. If you come home, I don't know how long she complains as well. We all complain, but do we think she's how old you said she's almost seventeen. Right. So do we think that's a growing pains complain or is it a DUI complain? I think it's both. Yeah. When I think London and even all of England, I don't think much Jewish, however, right? My mother's father, my father wasn't, but my mom's New York. You too, but my father's not. Yeah. Oh, yeah, but I don't think, yeah. I know there's the Jewish English people I know are great. Yeah, motherly on the DL was born and raised in leaves. Oh, which makes me half cruel also aren't that the coolest band who's. From Leeds like a lot of great accent, great bands. Yeah, that's very cool. Well, I disappointed pride for me l. though he had the arguably the single most Julie name I'd ever heard, which was Hymie Klein. That's crazy, Joey. Yeah, I had a friend Jennifer Hyman which was we were twelve and that was not easy for not an easy name. Yeah, Hymie. Yeah. Well, cute. Sure. Hard. Cute. Yeah. I've never been. I've still not been to leads I clearly made to need need to make. Yeah, yeah, I haven't been, but I want to and I want to make a pilgrimage to the isle of Skye where my parents were living and I was conceived. So that's my middle name is sky, and I've never. I've been to other parts of Scotland that I heard that the Isla skies pretty amazing of not been there so we should go all over how much of those early days do you remember. They might they've separated?.

"It's been pitched in many, many ways as a almost a hotel version which seems we've got the continental off of John whip. It almost feels like it could occupy the same place. You have heightened world where there's different types of currency. There's a set of rules that on the surface level society. No one is aware of, but there's this subject to all the criminals coexist in this kind of criminal universe. It's genius love the idea that they're all members of this hotel. You have to be a member to use the facilities and there are different hotels. It's not being members. So house red, isn't it? Bickham rock. When the police have shot, you know, Pat you on. We might do that until probably. We'll say, Groucho Marx, quote, I couldn't afford it. That is the quote. I wouldn't be a member of any club that I couldn't afford to be a member of. I think that's what he said. Found, yes, four stars then for hotel artists. Good casts. Really Jodie Foster playing against type plain old than she is. And I thought they petits to rock this movie as well. He did good stuff all around four stars hotel artists, Helen's heart out approaches an extra Bley. Yes. So you probably want me to get a move on. It would be nice change. So we'll be talking about mama, Mia, hey, we go again. I don't know the next. Yes. So this is the sequel to mama, Mia, but sequel and prequel because it goes over all the stuff that we already knew from the first one, but I get to see it. I really didn't need to see the first one because it's act- actually. So in the first one, of course, among the scf reds was getting married. Dominant Cooper was all like, oh, I went to my my dad's wedding. I don't know which of my mum's three boyfriends from that one summer. He was an her mom Meryl Streep, was all like, oh, don't worry about it. And so she invited three men because her moment oversee kept really good records of where they lived in who they were and and they'll turn up into cheek figure out which one to find out. No, she decides that the important thing is to have the mole. DNA what she did. She decides against that. We don't look, we find out. So there's no resolution to this film. There is resolution because her mom gets together with Pierce Brosnan. This is the first one, so don't shout at me. Oh, okay. That's why I thought it because I knew she got together brought home the, he was the dad, all just unfolds. We find out in this one. I couldn't possibly say that would be a spoiler anyway. Do this special from here we go. You can do that. So this is later and so fee, which is Amanda ciphers Carter's is trying to reopen the hotel that her mom work donor. Hawaii hotel Altemus. It's the hotel, Bella Donna, Donna being Herman's name. Meanwhile, we cut back to nineteen Seventy-nine where lily James is the young Meryl Streep, and she is graduating Oxford in graduation ceremony, unlike any that chain and heads off to find herself on a small Greek island and also find some hot Taty on the way top Taty. So Helen, objectify men. Again, I'm just look for in a film where lily James stars. I don't feel men are being objectified here, like there is clearly enough. I candy for the gentlemen or the woman funds here as well. So. Enough of that please anyway. So she goes off so Grayson romantic tangle moments and shoe. And the thing for me about this film is there's way too much of this past stuff because we know that she gets together with these three different guys over the course of the summer, and ultimately we don't care that much. They all seem quite nice. Something has to tear them apart and something obviously will. But like it doesn't really matter. Everything is going to work out fine because before ready seen the future.
