So since we had the specificity, we did go ahead and have our dive team, go down the Lake Monroe and take a look out. That theory that was described with negative results. No, this to the person or persons that have Lauren We miss her terribly. She's very dear to us. We love her very much Lauren Spears. Investigators report was submitted to the chief of police, the lead detective was angry that his subordinate had spoken privately to a suspect and refuse to add his observations to the record. Went Tober of nineteen Eighty-three began, it looked like the Adam Walsh case might never be closed now on October twentieth. Investigators had a suspect who matched the psychological profile given by experts transcripts of four on the record confessions and a detailed report on tools day with investigators tool had also identified the correct Sears despite detectives attempts to trick him that was enough for chief of police Sam.

"One of the best was a tip from a little boy who was at Sears the day at vanished, he told his mother who told police that he'd seen Adam being pulled into a blue van may be afford. Investigators took this tip. Very seriously. They check the registration records of thousands of matching vehicles that could have been in the area. Blue vans were pulled over and searched on highways near Hollywood Florida. Unfortunately, the search turned up nothing value with nothing but dead ends to investigate by the end of August. There were only two people left on the case. One was the very same investigator who had become convinced early on of Jim Campbell's guilt. Then on September fourth nineteen Eighty-one this investigator, poked a giant hole in the blue van. In theory after re interviewing the witness and his mother, it became clear that they couldn't have seen Adam's abduction. They were walking across the Sears parking lot, an hour after reveal began frantically searching for atom is unclear why it took the police so long to realize that their timing was off the larger team of detectives might have just been so overwhelmed. With useless tips that they were eager to follow up on the one lead. That seemed valid regardless losing the blue van tip left investigators essentially at square one by the second week of September, with no major new leads. It seemed like some within the department no longer saw the Walsh case as a priority. The experienced polygraph examiner didn't even show up for review Walsh's, second scheduled polygraph test. He didn't even call to explain his absence until days later. The lead detective was furious. He. You knew the polygraph examiner believed Jim Campbell was innocent, and suspected him of blowing off the interview as a result of their disagreement about the case..

"Now, the only thing anyone could do for Adam was to try and bring his killer to Justice with the eyes of the world upon them. Investigators in Hollywood, Florida prepared to tackle the biggest case of their lives, as typical with cases involving miss. And murdered. Children Adams, parents, John and reveal Walsh were investigated as potential suspects. John had already passed a detailed polygraph examination before his son's body was discovered. The examiner was convinced of John's innocence on the basis of that initial interview, and he was quickly dismissed as a possible suspect revamp. The other hand had a hard time trusting the detectives they pressured her to tell John about her affair with Adam's godfather, twenty five year old Jim Campbell revere refused. The idea of losing her marriage. So soon after losing, her son terrified her John never suspected his wife had cheated with their live in friend, Jim and reveal both admitted the affair to police. But neither wanted to be the one to tell John Rivera and Jim's affair and the reluctance to tell John provided the police with one easy to propose theory, a brash young detective with judge. Just three years of police experience took a lead role in Adams case from the beginning. He was a dogged stubborn investigator, who founded easy to ignore evidence that wasn't to his liking and he believed that Jim Campbell took at him. It was easy to speculate as to why maybe because Jim was jealous of John may be Jim felt marginalized by John's effort to cut down gyms time with Adam, maybe Jim was angry because reveal broke off their affair. The lead detective was so committed to his theory. He stopped considering other possibilities. Can you summarize the autopsy report for me? Sure the brain matter inside the school, has liquefied suggesting the time of death was at least ten days before the discovery of the remains twelve.

"She couldn't stop to help reveal payer tuition. She left a check on the desk and walked out mixed up Sears for those lamps, John wanted so badly review. Drove about a mile from the school to the Sears store in Hollywood Florida as she entered the store reveal knew what was coming. They'd walk past the new computer video games. I'll where revolutionary new games like Donkey Kong. We're on display playable in store. Atom. Always begged to stop and play these games today was no different. There were some older boys gathered around the gaming machines. Ruvo's saw them and felt that Adam would be safe and a group of kids, she decided to let him play for just a moment. While she ran to the lamp section review ordered at them not to move from the games. I'll. She repeated that she would be in the lamp section, and that he was to stay put, right? Where he was. Then she went to shop for those brass barrel. Limps they weren't on display. So she had to get help from an employee by the time word came back from the stock to permit that the lamps were sold out. Reveal had been separated for Madame for five or ten minutes at the most according to revise recollection. There are two stories about what happened while reveal was shopping for her lamps. There's the official story, the one police believe which starts with a teenage girl, working security at Sears. Her name is Kathy Schaeffer. And she says that on the day of Adam's disappearance she threw four kids out of the store for making a ruckus in the video game section. Kathy put the rowdy kids out of the stores, west entrance Adam had only ever entered the store through the north door. So he would have been totally lost if he was put out the west. Four. You can't kick us out. This is America relaxed, dude. She can't hear you. She's already gone. Yeah, you're one to talk, you got kicked out. Anyway, hogging the joystick. How is this my fault? You hit me first because you were hogging joystick now look what you did Rabanne banned from Sears. And you've got that poor little kid kicked out to what little kid, the blonde kid with the hat dingus. Or are you blind and a joystick hog seriously? I don't see a little kid looks dupe. It. He's right. He. Where do you go? Hey kid. Hey kid, we're all you. If Adam was ejected from the store with the older boys. He might have wandered off to try to get back inside. He had promised his mother he'd be in the game section. And he told her he knew where the lamps were if they got separated. He might have tried to look for their alone on an unfamiliar side of the store, not knowing how to get back to a familiar landmark Adam would have been lost and confused. He'd be a sitting duck for any kidnapper wanting to scoop him up. It would be as easy as promising to help him. Find his mother. It's a reasonable story, but Kathy Schaeffer it was never really sure if Adam was in the group, she objected on July twenty seventh nineteen eighty one the group of kids could have been a completely different bunch. And there's at least one other witness who remembers another story about that day. Vernon Jones was nine at the time as the south Florida sun sentinel, reported in two thousand and ten Jones had been telling the same story about that day, consistently since at least nineteen Ninety-six when he would have been twenty four years old. Jones says he played in television baseball with Adam on July twenty seventh Vernon remembers that Adam was batting with the bases loaded. Then hit a grand slam Vernon was impatiently waiting for turn with the game but little league champ. Adam wasn't ready to give up the joystick while watching Adam play Vernon says he glanced behind them and saw a man beckoning as if Adam to come with him. He thought nothing of it Vernon was at the time. More worried about getting his chance to play computer games. Vernon says he moved onto another game. And when he turned around next, he saw Adam leaving with the strange man he only has. Vague recollection of what the man looked like, of course and nine year olds. Memory reported to police fifteen years later, isn't the most reliable source, but neither is a teenage security guards, maybe about whether or not, she kicked Adam Walsh, out of Sears, there's no hard evidence, no security cameras. No record of game play that might show. Exactly. When Adam left the section we may never know how why or win Adam vanished from the gaming. I'll what we do know, for sure. Is that not long after going off to get her lamps Rivera return to the gaming island to collect her son? She found the I'll empty. Video game sound effects echoed into the empty store. I'll it sounded like the games were being played the constant noise had reassured review whilst you shopped within earshot. But now she saw that the machines made sounds, even when nobody was playing them should try not to panic to Slyke every mother who loses track of child and a store. She told herself over and over that she would find him. He was probably just around the next corner, he couldn't possibly have.

"Breathlessly as this case unfolded. This was the moment when everything changed before the disappearance of Adam John Walsh. There was no national registry for missing children, nor were their faces seen on milk, cartons and on posters. At government offices child abduction wasn't the horrifying specter constantly looming over American parents, that it is today in many ways, the atom John Walsh, case ushered in the area of what some call helicopter parenting driven by frighten. Parents for whom stranger danger. Suddenly felt very real and close to home. No longer could parents feel safe looking away from their kids. Even for just a moment. Officially the Adam Walsh case is closed. Police believe they know exactly who killed Adam. And so do Adams, parents. However, the suspected perpetrator was never charged with Adams, murder, and the theory was never tested in a court of law questions still remain about the case. So for many people, the official explanation remains unproven, some even believe the real murderer is still at large. Before we can get a sense of who Adam Walsh was, we need to get to know who Adams, parents are John Walsh. Adam's father was born on December twenty sixth nineteen Forty-five in Auburn, New York John was a fighter from the start. He writes in his memoir, tears of rage that in childhood, he was often seen brawling in the street with other boys. Sometimes over nothing at all. He was proud of his prowess as a fighter. John's father, Jack Walsh was a World War. Two fighter pilot decorated for his courage under fire according to John's memoir, the elder, Mr. Walsh was always referred to by others. Either with the Irish honorific gentleman Jack or by his nickname, Adam never simply as Jack after leaving aerial heroics behind at the end of World War, Two Adam senior became a family man. He loved nothing more than a peaceful evening at home. The elder, Mr. Walsh. Didn't approve. Fighting, but new win to pick his battles as a parent. The one thing Adam senior wouldn't tolerate was disrespect or violence towards women. How many times have I told you boys to address your mother with respect? "I know how stories work today. This is a loss leader just like all those products at WalMart. Something else was stolen from this store by somebody else of much greater value. They just put on this whole show as a distraction tactic yet. Everybody in the store stole when this. The big looting session went on unity spontaneous flash mob of looting. Yeah. That's that's a fucking weird. Imagine you're there just shopping, and you see this like old crazy bitch outside doing the crane. And then you got like naked dude doing God knows what and a dog stealing shit. I guess the dogs probably the least of anybody's concerns. Did you figure what he's doing? He's just running. But. Yeah. Loose dog and fucking WalMart. I guess that's caused for concern. Can you imagine? If all of these people were all in the same place at one time member a few weeks ago. We had another wal mart story where lady was drunk on box wine. Eating Pringles driving around a WalMart parking lot in one of those little carriage things. Imagine she was in this. She's in the same parking lot. As the cone food lady in the oh, I say, we take all those people of WalMart and put them all in one WalMart, and then charge admission. It's like a fucking freak show. That is a reality series waiting to happen that the world needs to see as long as you don't have elephants. Nobody's gonna care. All right, guys. So for my final poop news story of this episode. I'm gonna leave. This is a cautionary tale. We're gonna take a trip to Middletown Rhode Island where a firefighter who police say walked into a Rhode Island convenience store on a dare has been placed on it minute straight of leave. Police responded to a seven eleven in Middletown the afternoon of April third is a report of a naked customer. The owner said the man walked in with a smile on his face purchased a soda and then left in a car. The car was pulled over with to fully clothed occupants the twenty nine year old passenger said she dared her boyfriend to go into the store nude because he said it was legal in Rhode Island. Police say the sixty year old John Walsh field. Massachusetts was charged with disorderly conduct his phone did ring busy on Thursday. They could not reach him for common lynnfield chief. Did comment that he had been with the department for forty years and now his been placed administrative leave. So if you are a resident of Rhode Island, it is not legal to go into seven eleven naked. Just so, you know, what a bummer is changed. Actually, it's wall. You can go out. Oh, it's wild. It's it's actually piggly-wiggly, but you don't wanna see their clientele walk in there without clothes on. It's funny. You bring that up true story. I'm taking a train from New York down to Florida whole families on there. It's an overnight train. There is some servicemen and women on the train. One gentleman was not from the south, but was returning to the south after being away for a long time was so excited on the train by looking out the window and seeing piggly-wiggly he whipped out his piggly-wiggly. And he cried we he did because he was asked to go all the way home as they exited them from the train immediately. After he cut his foreskin cut in the door. Shot everybody with a water gun filled with the year a pistol a. This. Is a Pistola. Anybody have anything else? Yeah. Pantley? There are machines. Now that will jerk you off. So you don't have to masturbate for sperm extraction tonight. God I thought it never enters. Finally, we get to talk about a new sponsor here on the show. Probably not going to happen is a Chinese company. We don't probably have that many Chinese listeners yet. These machines are six thousand five hundred thirty five dollars each if you're lazy, and you don't wanna jerk off yourself at home for non medical reasons, you can purchase one of these think anyone.

If you don't be should be a college quarterback, Westbrook's hard to play with Westbrook. Can't shoot Westbrook has to drive to score. Meaning Westbrook gets hurt at the ram sorry. But the this this goes kinda the John Walsh. John wall left talented, but the wizards went on a winning streak without him. Blake Griffin left clippers went on a winning streak without him you ever notice how good the clippers this year. Your are without Blake Griffin. There's a handful of guys in this league. I've been banging on their talented. I don't think they make anybody better wall. Blake in Westbrook where Colin was wrong. Yeah. I just didn't know what the hell. I was talking about with the Chicago Bears. I hadn't picked for last in their division five and eleven. Mitch Trubisky was just pedestrian I saw him his first year. I didn't get it. He never had a game over two touchdowns. But an and they still I don't think have great offensive players. I think they're running backs are good. But they're Haman. They're well coached there. Eight best players. According to pro football, focus are all defensive players. They have a brilliant young head coach, and I'll give Trubisky this. I don't see him as a transformative guy. I don't think he has to Shawn Watson random locker Carson Wentz talent. But you know, what? The most important thing in the NFL today is a quarterback. I'm not so sure the second most important thing is no play caller, and Matt Nagy and Trubisky. It's working with that defense. It's working, and I was wrong where Colin was right? I said Michigan would be a terrible matchup for Alabama. They don't pass the eye test. They're running backs aren't special their quarterbacks. Small poor man's Johnny Manziel, and I don't like their offense of line and Michigan got thumped by Ohio State. Now, I was surprised by the outcome. I thought the Michigan Ohio state game looked exactly like what Alabama. Michigan would look like Michigan's t- defense was number one in the country mostly dominating big ten teams. I mean, that's what they did mostly dominated big ten teams. Do you know Michigan's defense gave up more points this weekend? Then their basketball team has given up all season long. And they've lost the two best teams. They've played Ohio State and Notre Dame. I think they're a really really good. Big ten football team where Colin was raw Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley got fired by Cleveland and Baker Mayfield gotten better. That's not the way it's supposed to work. You know, these young quarterbacks are usually better with experienced ofensive coaches, but his completion percentage since they left is seventy four percent, and that's always been his strength, his accuracy. But I gotta give Baker credit. This is a chaotic organisation, it's a dysfunctional organization and they've already in his first year head dysfunction, and he's overcoming he stayed focused on completing passes. It's what he does not Cleveland's got real running backs in real receivers when you're as bad as Cleveland has been for years and you draft well, and then a hell of a draft. They've got players but Baker deserves credit here. This thing is still swimming in chaos, and he is just kept his eye when he plays these games. Open receiver. Let it go. Get it to him. That's where he looks like drew Brees. He's not as good as drew Brees. But the people that said he's got drew Brees. This is where he's drew Brees. Drew Brees is always made a career out of chaos around him deficiencies around him focusing on game completing passes moving the sticks. That's what Baker is done. Very well so far this year. Peter King is right around the corner. Also, why I'm so happy this morning, despite the fact my nose exploded yesterday, and despite the fact that a terrible blazing five something happened this weekend made me so happy. I went four for four on something not football picks. It made me so happy and I'll explain that. Plus Peter King coming up car shopping confusing. Terms dealer price list, price, invoice. The Redskins at seven forty five at eight. Oh five or cares with us an eight thirty five the Lieutenant governor Boyd Rutherford with us. I'm Mary Walter here. Bins colonies good morning. Republican actually become the Montgomery County executive. That's the question before us this morning as we talked to Robin thicker finally getting to see in person year, Robin. Really great to have you this morning. Thank you. Vince. A you know, we got term limits passed that was a vote for change not a vote to promote those who wanted to be on the council for life. That's right. And you got tax limits. And you also limit to tax increases. We got our unanimous recall. For the council to increase property taxes. More than the rate of inflation passed over the opposition of both of my Ben jealous term, limited tax increasing opponents, and that particular property tax limit into charter as saved the average homeowner over ten thousand dollars since it was well, that's a big deal. I just you mentioned your two opponents you've got Markelle rich and Nancy fluorine the beating each other up. I mean in the end you could hook shot your way right up to the top of this race. Thanks to to Democrats, essentially fighting each other on the side in a three way race, and you could come out looking golden here. Well, they were the two deciding votes for the unnecessary nine percent property tax increase, which we had very recently. They also voted for thirty percent increase in a real estate transfer tax. And then they also approved the one hundred and fifty six percent increase in the county. Residential energy tax, which they said was temporary and should have expired, but we still have today. Let me as a Montgomery County. Have the residents of Montgomery County, finally connected. Tax hikes Democrats. Well, there's no one else to connected to that doesn't mean that doesn't mean that they've condemn doesn't mean. They connected the dots. They're the only ones who've been in office and guaranteed if they get elected they're not going to be. I hope that everyone will know that their next tax hike will be the very first thing they announce once they're elected how much does Montgomery County change if you end up becoming the executive, well, there's going to be a cleaning of the house in Rockville. That's for sure because the county executive gets many appointments that I want to bring in a lot of thrifty forward-looking people where we can have freedom of freedom from excessive regulation freedom from guaranteed annual tax increases. Yeah, we need a fresh approach new ideas in Rockville, one of the things we often talk about his term limits. So I love the idea of term limits, and one of the things you said was the voters have spoken and rejected the record of the incumbents if if people voted for term limits, why don't. They vote incumbents out. I mean that would seem the easy thing to do if you don't if you don't want incumbents constantly being reelected, why don't voters do that. It seemed I don't know. I don't know if there's an answer to that. But you had to go with term limits is going to do that in this county executive race. And by the way, I call them either recumbents or incompetence because we we've got to get Montgomery County movie. We've been Tacoma part we've been Garrett park. I came down to seventy this morning. We need traffic relief. And we need to include that part from Montgomery village to Clarksburg in the present study, not the future study. We should have improved that ten years ago the biggest employer here in Tacoma park. Trapezoid where my two opponents live where all four at large county council candidates live where the where the council president lives where the district person lives. They have five votes here in Takoma park trapezoid, which has only. Four point one percent of Montgomery County, the biggest employer here, the discovery. Channels left town their neighbor has left town. They work in Rockville. We had five businesses close in Rockville in the last two weeks wherever they are businesses. Leave town I love that vote the incumbents. That's a great line of Robin. I want to can you characterize for us? You know, it's it's always good to talk to you. Because we've got a Republican in Montgomery County to speak with an a guy who's who's got actually got a shot here in this Montgomery County executive race, which is awesome. But at the same time wanna know what what it's like a Montgomery County. Can you characterize the conversations you've had with voters in the extent to which you feel like you have support in this race, the voters want change. They realized that people who've been in office for sixteen years can't possibly represent change. I went out to Amazon HQ one trying to find what they were like what they were looking. Yes. Yes. In order to get Amazon each cue to here, and they want freedom. They want freedom from regulation freedom from taxes. And I think that if Marquel Rick somehow gets in there. Amazon will never come to Montgomery County because hill impose a head tax of a thousand dollars and they've run away from the head tax employees head tax in Seattle of two hundred seventy five dollars. I think that head tax was a main move for us to get them to. Think about moving their headquarters h q two it's interesting that Amazon wants freedom, and they don't want to leave government regulations yet. They always support the Democrats, which I do find interesting one thing you were asked to rate the president on a scale of one to ten and you chose not to you said, I've never met. The man is Trump is an association with President Trump a hindrance or help in Montgomery County. Well, you know, I I don't think I don't think that he is an issue. I think the stock market has been doing very well, the issues are property taxes. The issues are gridlock on I seventy in the beltway. The issues are bringing jobs into Montgomery County. I've lived here all my life. And I've seen that for instance, in the last five years there've been fourteen thousand new businesses located in the Washington area. But only six in Montgomery County as those are the issues. No wonder everyone's is commuting Virginia. That's where the businesses are locating. We need to reverse. That people won't have to commute near as far if we have jobs here, the FBI new headquarters that was going to be a huge new employer somewhere other than in DC when they were talking about moving the headquarters, but Montgomery County didn't even make a bid to have the FBI headquarters in Montgomery County. They don't care about new jobs. Mr. L, Rick has never met a road that he liked. He wants us all to get on the bus that he never takes. That's true that usually happens though, with a lot of a lot of politicians either. They don't live where they in the area for which they make the loss have to live under those laws or else, for instance, like transportation, they don't take it. So it's it's a very interesting conundrum. Well, thank you so much. We appreciate you. Joining us and Robin thicker running for Montgomery County executive. Thank you, please. Please go on Robin delivers few dot com and see my video which now has about one hundred fifty thousand views Montgomery County record. Well, we appreciate it. And speaking of transportation, it's time for wwl traffic.

"Everybody should go check that out because maybe you don't live in San Antonio. You live in another city that he's going to be at soon and everybody loves you. They've already on here before. So definitely go to the show. Go check him. It's it's probable that you don't live in San Antonio. That's that's the entire planet probably doesn't live in San San Antonio. So I'm doing a big tour in the in the fall called the must be nice tour, which comes from an expression. My mother uses way too much when I when I tell them getting something that's a little bit expensive, like room service. The movie theater and she says, must be nice. Be nice. Yeah, so that that's going on throughout the fall and winter, the must be nice tour, and I'm at the top of my game guys hitting on all cylinders. So that's great. But I, I wanted to, I wanted to share some information with with definite yet. You may not be able to hear him, but he can hear you hear you. All right, I I was I was doing some some remembering some, nostalgia, and I remember being very anxious as a as a young man child going up, and I was I was trying to figure out what the source of it was. And part of it was there was an impending nuclear war. That always being warned about the nuclear war that was coming soon to to score near you and then. And then the other thing, a man, a man by the name of John Walsh who most people will know from America's post warranted. He did a lot of good. I thank. But he also caused a hysteria over over kidnappings and child of duck. In the nineteen eighties when he when he said that that fifty thousand children year were being we're being kidnapped and and he would later he later at just that and he would recant. And he said it was not. It was not fifty thousand. And when asked where he got the figure from he said, quote, it was a guesstimate. Solid. You mean you mean a guess..

"That is not the way and john walsh has talked about this on the democratic side you don't choose who is the person to support at before the primary is totally undemocratic and i mean i guess they get away with it because there's so few republicans or something nobody cares i don't know but not good it's not good for a party the mass democratic party at least under john wall so i think it's continued under gus bickford that they do work hard to remain neutral it's hard sometimes to do that when one particular candidate is favored by the people who have elevated to leading the party positions but i wanted problem the mass gop's had for generation is they they rally around one big candidate at a time or maybe to scott brown was the next thing that romney was the next thing and the grass roots people have any problems with those candidates they get shut out and i think that's part of why you're the second candidate in a row who sued governor baker third candidate to suffer the vicini but the second to sue the i was christie my house back twenty ten by actually charlie baker and his team are following the hillary clinton model hillary did this bernie right right and the convention i got twenty seven point six percent of the delegates i was shocked everybody they thought they were going to keep the under five percent but just by standing on my principles but that was against a stacked deck because charlie baker had hundreds of super delegates just like hillary did against bernie and there was no secret ballot it was an open ballot and he had people monitoring how everybody was voting in a back room command center with cameras focused on the on the on the people voting suppressed the lively vote i might actually have won the nomination if it hadn't been for that but we should say that that was one of.
