"So we're talking to Steve physic pregame dot com says non gambling angle Right now you're out in Vegas. I'm just curious. I would imagine Super Bowl weekend in non covert times, is one of the biggest To send upon Vegas weekends. I've been out there for a couple times. It's incredible. There's usually a big fight that weekend stuff like that. What's it like out in Vegas? What? What's the expectation out in Vegas for this year's Super Bowl? So guarded optimism? Certainly we'll see. That will be a capacity whatever the sports books allow. Frankly, it's not the time in my opinion to come to Vegas because, you know, gambling with masks on and social distancing and at the poker room with the plexiglass up around each and every player, it's just not the same, but reasons for optimism the case count. Is way down in the valley versus just a few weeks ago. You know the vaccines coming, and so I will make a case that July 4th that Vegas will have the most busy July. 4th it has ever had my hate Steve physic, You know, um Pandemic expert expects that by May, the combination of vaccine and herd immunity probably kicks in in Vegas, the pent up demand. I think it's tremendous. Yeah, I agree with you. I just can't wait to get back out there for sure. Steve physic joining me on CBS Sports Radio, talking gambling. Talking to Super Bowl says any early look at any profits. You and I are obviously gonna talk next week within hours of kick off of the game, but Anything early in that prop Bet World Super Bowl wise that you've been looking at. You know, I can't help but think that Tampa Bay is just saturated at the receiver position because you know Antonio Brown. Has been injured, and Mike Evans hasn't been 100%. And you know Brady's gonna want to try to go to Gronckle Little bit. So when you look at all these receivers and Cameron breaks really come on. Maybe we'll play God went under 75 reception yards because there's still only one football. No. Godwin has been the man throughout the playoffs. You always want to look in terms of has the story change, and I could make the case. The story has changed a little bit with the Tampa Bay receivers interesting. I so says we saw her first big move. Transaction Wise yesterday will become official and in a month and a half or so, but the two sides have agreed to the deal. Jared Goff. Going to Detroit with a couple of very high draft picks, Couple first round picks and a third round pick for Matthew Stafford going to L. A. I guess before we get into the effect on the futures market, the the odds and so forth. Where do you have these two quarterbacks on your QB power rankings, So I got golf right around 20 seconds, So he's actually a liability because you're paying him like he's a above average quarterback and he's not That's not a positive to trade for God. Long term, you know, for a for anyone year versus picking somebody up off the scrapheap. Yeah, I mean, it's six of one half dozen of the other bigger paying them too much. On def. You look at Stafford At the end of the year. I had him rated as an average quarterback, but he was all banged up throughout the year. And in most years, I would have Stafford right around just outside the top 10 so right around like the number 11 quarterback so huge upgrade. Yeah. So what did that do to the futures market when it comes to the Super Bowl next season? I know there's already odds out there on that stuff. Yes, I think the Rams went from like 18 to 1 to 12 to 1. So they became like the number four choice. On Dwight's interesting Everyone wants to go ahead and evaluate. You know who won the trade and a lot of times it comes down to well this year. The Rams clearly when the trade and then what's gonna happen down the road, I will say this I think draft picks are overrated. Quarterback is King in the NFL. You don't have a quarterback. You're dead. If you if you need to decide whether you gotta start John Walford or golf is your quarterback. You don't have a quarterback, so because of that, I think that media gets it wrong. And they always say, love all these draft picks. And the bottom line is unless you're the Houston Texans. If you have a really good quarterback, you have a winning year, and that's what's all all that's important in the NFL right now. Yeah, it's through the Houston Texans like you said, and guess who. They may be getting rid of their quarterback. Not not because they want to, but because because he wants out, can you put into context? Just how crazy and anomaly this is with? The Texans. I'm not talking about Watson warning out. I think there's a lot of people that probably went out of the Texans right now. Because they're not very good. Um, but the anomaly of just how great Watson was this year on a team that was so bad. You have never seen it before. So I have Watson, my number four rated quarterback in the NFL worth 2.5 points to the betting line. This versus an average quarterback. My did this, they said. Versus a Philip Rivers or a big Ben quarterback like that, and I have never seen the team Go four and 12 5, 11, 6 and 10 with a quarterback that the top five quarterback the on Lee possible comp. Comparison that I could come up with is Drew Brees a couple times when seven and nine. So it is really remarkable that the Texans were able to lose 12 games with such an elite quarterback. It's never happened before in the NFL. Yeah, it's almost like they made their head coaching a team chaplain, the general manager of the CIA. Wait, That's exactly what they did. And in Houston, with the with the tax and Steve physic pregame dot com, joining me Hey, Fez, Before I let you go Um Adam Schefter tweeted a graphic earlier this week kind of listing all the quarterbacks. It could be on the move this off season. There were probably a dozen or so that were listed in this graphic and in the in the tweet that accompanied the graphic, he said. He's putting the over under on 18 quarterbacks or 18 teams that could change quarterbacks. I think that number is insane. If you just go through the 32 teams like now that it's not gonna be that many. But if you had, I don't know if you had to put a number on it at the physics sports book. How many quarterbacks How many teams could you see moving off of their regular starting court? You know the quarterback that started the most games for them. Last season. You put me on the spot, my man, but I'll go 11.5. I think it will be. Well, We're number you know they'd be the contracts have to work. And the bottom line is Yeah. You know, you'd like to go ahead and upgrade a quarterback, but They're just so few good options, and everybody wants Watson. But I think we saw that with, you know, with Philip Rivers and Indy. Um yeah, he was an upgrade over to Kobe Percent, but not enough of an upgrade for them to be a true Super Bowl contender. And unless you get a top 10 quarterback, oftentimes you're better off standing pat with who you got. Yeah, I think 11.5.

"Call, that's all sports desk. Here's great Matt. Say good news for the Packers. All players accounted for at practice today. About 24. Hours ago, Offensive lineman Jared Volunteer was placed on the reserve Covert 19 list. Packers fans held their breath filled your practice with the team on Tuesday when it comes to contact tracing Matt LaFleur's team may have dodged the bullet. I slept pretty good last night, just really confident in our protocols in our approach and how we handle things around here and into our guys for for being disciplined, doing the right thing. The only player unable to practice today defensive lineman Kingsley Kiki, who remains in the concussion protocol, he's listed as doubtful for Saturdays. Game. As for the Rams quarterback John Walford ruled out that means Jared Goff will start. I think we were pretty much preparing for for Jared all week. So you know it doesn't change too much better. And Blake Bortles will back up golf who is two weeks removed from thumb surgery on his throwing hand, well, tough threats on the horizon for the Milwaukee Bucks. The Mavericks will visit Visor form on Friday. Milwaukee will host the Lakers one week from tonight. And in between. It's a trip to Brooklyn to face the new look. Brooklyn nets that start Kevin Durant. What do your thoughts on the James Harden? Trade does not even finalized? Yes, we'll talk about it Another time, Okay, backing off commenting, but He was asked what it was like to play with heart and in Oklahoma City. Okay, Kyrie Irving remains away from the team from for personal reasons and a couple of scheduling tidbits here for the market. Golden Eagles. They're scheduled game January 20th against Georgetown postponed due to covet issues within Georgetown program. And throw away your pocket schedule here. Saturday's game against Saint Johns will tip off at 11 A.m. instead of 1 P.m.. I think it's good for the Packers that it's definitely Goff. I mean Wolf, for it is not his experience, but he's more mobile. He's a different threat. Goff didn't look right with that thumb. Goff is terrible, historically, in cold weather. I think this is good news for the pain. Yeah, he's not gonna escape the pocket and You know, they used to be a play action team set you up with run and then beat you with the past and golf is for whatever reason, very much struggled in that world this year, Aaron Rodgers has been incredible. It just doesn't look like a confident quarterback. To me. That was prior to the injury. So partly wonders of John Woolford started because Shaun McVeigh thought he gave the team the best shot at winning. Regardless of the injury situation, which certainly doesn't help the situation. Yeah, I can't wait for the game after that week off, Let's go. Yeah. You gotta glad it's this weekend is 4 48 it wtmj. Finally, the.

"Gruber law. Opposite one call. That's all sports desk. Here's Greg. Matt sake pull. The Packers still aren't 100% sure who the Rams will trot out a quarterback Saturday in the divisional round of the playoffs. At this point, Jared Goff the only healthy option, Relatively speaking golf is two weeks removed from thumb surgery. Meanwhile, John Walford is recovering from a Stinger suffered in the wild card round matchup against the Seahawks. Rams that code. Sean McVeigh does expect to have all pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald. He's feeling really good. You know, we're just gonna really rest in the whole week and be a smartest possible. I mean, he was just in there getting a workout in the weight room and he looks like he's feeling pretty good to me. So the Terminator will be ready. Donald suffered a rib injury last weekend. I'll be back. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers calls Donald a first ballot Hall of Famer metal floor calls him a game records A once in a lifetime type player and Packers practicing outdoors. Today, we'll have an injury report update coming up at 4 15 in a blockbuster trade in the N B, a details still being sorted out. But the headline is that James Harden is going to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a 14 deal involving the Rockets, Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers. As part of the deal, the Rockets acquire former All Star guard Victor Oladipo, a total of four first round picks and four first round pick swaps with the Nets. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers air waving former Bucks forward Thon maker Was crazy, trying to digest everything that's happened with that trade war teams involved. Yeah, it's things are getting sorted out here with the pick swamps and all that kind of stuff. But yeah, traded this proportions with a guy making that much money. It's very rarely a one on one sort of deal with one singular team. They have to be more teams involved given the salary ramifications, so I'm not surprised to see other teams, but You know, this is less than 24 hours after the petulant child started to whine and complain about his teammates terrible. Meanwhile, he's been just mailing it in the last five games, said they call them on it. Finally and that Would not want this guy on my team for anything. There is no way he's a locker room destruction. He and Kyrie Irving will be a perfect match that regard in Brooklyn well, we'll see what the Nets do with Irving, who was got some issues of his own. "Was the third time That they played them. But this is what makes it so hard in the NFL. This is an aside to the point about Russell Wilson to play a team three times. Because eventually you they know your tendencies. You can only gain plan so much. And they it's the best team. Best game plan wins. And it felt like that was the case over the weekend as the Rams found a way even with John Walford, starting and then getting hurt. With the Stinger. It looked really bad. At first I thought it was a concussion. Then, maybe in a naked issue turned out to be a stinger. And then Jared Goff comes back in. He's over four with zero yards. You know to start and then ultimately, he stabilized. Mostly it was because of their run game. But this is why it gets really difficult to play a team three times in a season because you familiarity tends to benefit the team. That game plan's the best. Now, you would think I think we have Beatty back. You would think that a team with a Russell Wilson and quarterback would have the advantage. But that clearly wasn't the case in this wild card rematch of a divisional serious, which was an interesting one to break down. Russell Wilson didn't play well that quite frankly, Russell Wilson hasn't played very well this season despite the incredible starting September where he had 14 touchdowns in one pick hard to say that man he's got 40 touchdowns, only Carrier B T O care, its completion percentage. Says Hi. Sounds good. Hi. It's all right. It's all good. I mean, he won all the games except for the Giants won in December, which was unexplainable step unless you want to look at the Giants defense being much better than it still even gets credit for, But still, that was an unexplainable loss. Yeah, especially at home, scored 12 points score and they scored. 12 points. E think there are ways to defend. Um, um, You know, we look, we talked about this often a basketball, but I think the Rams matchup particularly well against the Seattle Seahawks, because of Jalen Ramsey, and because Jalen Ramsey can neutralize, um DK Metcalf. Okay. You know what I mean? So he says he's the best corner in football and he can shut you down. You know, And that's and that seemed to what happened. When that happens to Russell Wilson. There's no answer, like he's got other good players take. He's got other girls. By the way, they ran the ball. Well, they had 100 40 yards rushing. It's not like Big Ben, where you know you're gonna have to throw it 50 times and you average 1.7 yards a carry, like there's just no threat of the run with the Steelers. There is a real large threat of the run, not just with the conventional running, but Wilson himself, and by the way, think it wasn't just the Giants game. And we were going back and forth with this before the show, three picks and a loss in Arizona, two picks and a loss of Buffalo two picks in the laws of the Rams the first the last time I played poorly in the Giants game, Dad a couple turnovers, They scored, 12 points again. If you just parachute into the season, I didn't play well the other day. So if you say Well, look at Russell's numbers completely percent of 40 ton, manic I was money is great. You know, That's not my point. What I'm saying is from the first part of the season when he was the number one leader in the M V P conversation on this Showing every show that knows football. He morphed into something that for a good chunk of this season, in my opinion, did not represent not even look like Russell Wilson. He looked. He looked, he looked more I don't want say, like a detriment. I don't wanna get ahead of myself here, but certainly not the asset that he's always been and too many games where he had multiple turnovers. And my point of what I said before. Something about Russell Wilson that no and this is, I don't get this. No quarterback in the NFL. We have been on the Russell Wilson trained forever. We love him. But he hasn't It might've been played well last couple of months. I'm going to say it. But anyway, the point is that you and I have always questioned loudly. How's this gonna get no one pp votes. How does his true like I don't think there's another situation in the NFL, where a quarterback gets so little justified praise when he's great and so little heat. When he's not. Yeah, well, I think think about the more think about Baker. Think about Darnel. Think about the every. All these guys get. Do you have a Jones gets everybody gets buried? Yeah, but the young guys haven't proven anything yet. Russell Wilson. When he was young, he was winning Super Bowls and so Super Bowl Super Bowl he was playing in super. He threw a pick that prevented him from winning the Bulls. He did throw that pic was that on him was that he threw the ball there a bevel. I understand that, and he coached up Malcolm Butler. When he does this, do I understood, but he threw a pick. What? No, no bubbles, The offensive coordinator. They called the pass Is that instead of the run unless it was a bell chick alerting Butler saying, Hey, listen, when he does, they saw it on tape. He did it. He got his footwork. You stepped in. He got the ball rustle through it. Horrible play call. You got to give it a beast mode, obviously no doubt, but he made a bad throw at the end of the day. There were two games this season. Two games that Russell Wilson wasn't sacked at all. That was a win against the Jets, which the maid can usually doesn't take much effort. You know, in a win against the Washington football team, those air weeks 14 and 15 other than that he has hit molt. I mean, this is not even the hit rate. This is just this is just the sacks. How many sacks again 47 sex on the season Last year, he led the league 48. I don't know. Maybe he's got to get rid of the ball a little bit earlier and stop trying to be the magician. Maybe some of this is on us. So Wilson. Yes And no. So look you they score. They were completely stymied by the brain. And Staley, the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams the entire game. In fact, the touchdown that he threw the decay. Metcalf was a complete. I mean, it was just It was a scramble, Play bust. Do you get Metcalf was running He was running it like a crossing route. Going from, you know, offensive left to offensive, right? He's just running a crossing round. He saw Russell Wilson starts to scramble and just went up the middle of the field, and Russell Wilson threw it to him. It looked like a great play, but it was really it was You can't ask the defendant or keep in contact with that guy going across the middle of the field that he sprints up like what, Like, how do you even think about that? And so they made a play..

"Good morning. I'm good. What's on your mind? Not too much. Number one, I think on the criteria the first thing I'm gonna go with some big Pittsburgh fan, obviously. And ah, you with Pittsburgh, but, you know, we're kind of swing fans throughout here. If there are doing very well to make it bad coaching calls that place obviously dropped balls sure has been a big thing. We We turn on our team sometimes, but Gotta go with number one with the Steelers Take number two. Your point on the systematic man into the boat and forth today are rooting for It had to be Pittsburgh because I think there's a bigger rivalry between the Browns in Cincinnati. There is Cincinnati Pittsburgh. Number two or I'm sorry. Number three. I would say that I'd root for the underdog all the time. Washington last night. I was rooting for them a little bit even known. Sample bases loaded. But yeah, definitely the underdogs. I appreciate you checking. I was with you on that. Like what I wanted Chase Young to be right. He's like he wanted Tom Brady, and he was trying desperately to get Tom Brady yesterday. Like desperately to get that man on the ground. Wanted. I wanted him to be right in saying we want to Tom. I'm telling you that Taylor hiding yesterday. I don't know what it means. And it probably means nothing going forward, but it was fun to watch him for sure. "Com, But let's update you on the playoffs with the CBS Sports Update with Mike McCain. See me? Yes. Sports flag. Okay. Carrington. After a tight game and a blowout upset, the Buccaneers and Washington football team are matriculating their way through our wild card nightcap. Tampa Bay Open the scoring 29 yard, Ryan Suck up field goal. They extended it to nine zip on the Brady TD pass to Antonio Brown that coming after a tailor in Hi Nikki Interception, and, more recently, that 43 year old, magical right arm serving up the second score, a 27 yard and Chris Godwin. They've just tacked on a field goal, so it is eat. Team to seven Washington on the board with the J D McKissick touchdown run. But again, this game has been dominated, as you say, by the Buccaneers with just moments to go. Under two minutes before halftime earlier, the Rams defense arrest and hassled Russell Wilson. Even with the defensive star Aaron Donald, missing part of the game with the rib injury. The Rams surprised to Seahawks 30 to 20. Just a dozen days after thumb surgery. Golf rescued the Rams after his backup John Walford, suffered a neck injury. Golf was just nine of 19 through the air. This, though, was the one that proved to be special. Goff. Just watching that play clock melt down takes the snap fakes. The handoff golf looking to past Rose left side. Woods wide open makes the catch of the five stroll.

"John Walford in the first quarter. Aaron Donald in the third quarter, and Jared Goff would go nine of 19 would you have given them any chance of winning today? The answer is a resounding no. But they did just that 30 to 20 your final score in Seattle as the Rams beat the Seahawks. It's Cris Carlin and NFL insider Jeremy Fowler on prime time on ESPN radio and the ESPN happened. We'll talk more about that game in just a little bit. Washington and Tampa going at it right now, Champa with the three nothing leaders, they approach the midway point in the first quarter. But the coaching carousel around the NFL is an interesting one. We fit a lot of time this evening talking about urban Meyer and whether or not he'll take the Jacksonville Jaguars job is Jeremy is Reported and talked about that It looks like it's about 70 30 that he would take the job from people that you've spoken to. What else have you heard about Urban Meyer joining the Jaguars at this point? And what could potentially be the holdup from him. Maybe not taking the job right now. Well, it's something that's been in the works for weeks, actually released. Jacksonville is playing at some seeds. They met with Meyer the first time At least a week ago. So this is not a new development they met. And then Jacksonville got the indication that Hey, we feel pretty good about landing Urban Meyer. Potentially, so they move on from Doug Marone. It's going to be a situation where he's gonna have to turn them down. On. Maybe he doesn't want the NFL at the end of the day, but it's trending in that direction, so there's no deal in place. Yet nothing is imminent, but It's on the table. I mean, this is something that appears in the works slowly but surely the jobs that are open Jacksonville's We know the Chargers, the Jets, the Texans, the Lions, the Falcons, the guy that you spend a few minutes ago praising for the job he's done this year is The Rams defensive coordinator Brendan Scalea and a game like this when you see them just stymie, frankly, the Seattle offense How much does that help his case now moving forward because he's somebody that had at least one if not two, interviews scheduled. Does he now maybe get a second look from a couple of other places. Well, it's a showcase, and certainly he could get another interview request right Because these teams they submit paperwork asking to talk to a guy. Usually that coach can have a small window allowed by his head coach to talk to teams after the game, so Tomorrow. For instance, Brian Dave all the Bills offensive coordinator, I'm told will have his interviews virtually with the Jets and the Chargers and Brandon Staley will probably do the same will have his virtual stuff tomorrow. He's talking to the Jets is one team, but I think there could be another added on his slate. Based on today. You know, you look at the Falcons. I was told that they were probably going to try to talk to him, or at least have looked into him. And, Yeah, it's Teams won't overact a one game because they have a body of work and they dig into the film and watch these games. All year s so they know what he could do. But it's truly an impressive turnaround. Just how disciplined the Rams defense has been all year. Is this the year that Eric, the enemy gets a head coaching job? I a month ago would have said Absolutely. Yes, right now, I'm saying likely, but it's not a slam dunk. It's weird. It's Ah, Houston. Was the spot that everybody paid for your the enemy. In fact, Lot of sources around league felt really strongly about that that he was going to go there and in part because the Shawn Watson wanted him. On. They have not even requested an interview. So it complicates matters because here's a coach who's done all five of his virtual interviews already that's done and now he's moved on, You know, is the mo mentum going to shift out of his favor at this point. I don't think so. I think he's still got a good chance in places like Atlanta, the Chargers the Jets. I know the Jets do are really impressed by him. They like what he's done and how he's evolved. As a placeholder. They taught him a few years ago and didn't take him. So I think this could be the time that maybe they do. But it Zanon a slam dunk, and that would be a big black eye for the league because Or not, he's been the face of the lack of upward mobility for minority coaches, partly at the fall of the NFL. I talked to her med words about this when they started talking about incentivizing, the hiring of assistant coaches in coordinators and such And it really is remarkable that You would look at somebody like the enemy and They look at an Andy reading assistant and say, Well, what's the knockout? Him? Well, Andy Reid calls the place. Well, you had Doug Peterson, who is Andy Reid's offensive coordinator. You had Matt Nagy, who was Andy Reid's offensive coordinator. It would be hard to imagine a scenario where The enemy this year did not get that chance. And it would be frankly, Aziz. You put it a black eye of very, very tough sell in the league for that to be the case, because every scenario you lay out in the enemy's favor. Is completely true and every double standard out there is real, with man nagging Doug Peterson getting head coaching jobs, and that's you know, that should be the enemy next in line sliding into one of those spots, and there's no way around it, but it's just For whatever reason. Maybe the interviews aren't going well or teams just have a preference, or you saw last year with the Giants and Joe Judge came out of nowhere. Special teams coordinator Turns out he did pretty good and looks looks the part so sometimes These owners and these G M's, and they go on these interviews of these head coaches, and they just get a feeling or a tip or whatever it is be enemy maybe hasn't hasn't developed yet. But this should be the time and he's been well coached on how to interviews. I don't think that's a major issue. It's just a preference thing. "I think we lost John Cell phone. We might have lost the connection there. And you know we were toward the discussing the end of this anyway. It how this game plays out later on tonight. I would have asked John this question, so I will ask you this question. Jeremy, Rather have you fill in the blank in this sentence. The Washington football team wins. Tonight against the Buccaneers. If If the front the defensive front for Washington gets at least Worst sex. They're gonna have to beat up Tom Brady. I really think that's what it comes down to you because otherwise that Brady has time he's going to find those weapons. They are loaded on offense, and that offensive line has been good most of the year, so You're gonna have to keep it in that 15 to 20 Point range. Washington has to get a grind it out win. The only way to do that is to knock Tom Brady around. Yeah, and it has to be done with that front four with four guys. It can't be done in a blood situation because Brady will absolutely pick you apart there. The teams that have had that kind of success have been able to get after him and put that pressure on him and that kind of situation with just those four. Yeah, and it's I have no idea what to expect out of Washington's offense tonight. John is right. They're going to run the ball ton. Antonio Gibson. If you could get going like he did in the Dallas game a couple weeks ago. This guy is dangerous. He is one of the best up and coming running backs. And you got Terry McLaurin number one receiver like you have some weapons to at least manufacturer, some first downs and maybe a couple of red zone place. Meanwhile, we'll keep you updated on what's going on in Seattle at the half. It is 20 to 10 in favor of the Rams, keeping a good thought for John Walford, who started a quarterback for the Rams but had to go to the hospital. And went to the hospital in a neck brace in the back of an ambulance. Hopefully, that was just precautionary. Meanwhile, we've got so much more football to discuss in a super wild card weekend. We continue on it next on prime time on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. It's greenie..

"Of this new wild card format in the NFL, and it got off with a bang here. Bills. Winning their first playoff game since 1995 27 24 over the Colts cold beat themselves in a lot of ways. I don't mean with turnovers. I mean, with leaving points on the board. The Colts this year. The 472 yards that they racked up offensively was the most all season by them. Most all year. And they became the first team in NFL playoff history. Have more than 470 yards of offense, No turnovers and lose. So a dubious honor for them. Bills defensively, Lucky to walk away with a win. They were bailed out by their offense. That offense scored 10 points in the fourth quarter. Had a 98 yard drive at the end of the first half, made the most of their opportunities, kicked a 54 yard field goal. Josh Ellen didn't turn the ball over. And they're onto another home playoff game. Against either the Steelers. Titans of Ravens. Major Philip Pony at the Pony Express on Twitter. Like the name of the show, pony spelled P O and I, I'm coming from the Rocket. Morgan Studios need to know what it takes for a home loan to fit your budget and your family rocket can Halfway through the first quarter in Seattle scoreless and this is supposed to be low, scoring the Rams the number one defense in the NFL. Playing a backup quarterback. They have Jared Goff active, but they are starting John Walford after he beat the Cardinals last week without scoring an offensive touchdown. Wolfert is in Scoreless Russell Wilson down the stretch couldn't connect on deep balls. The Seahawks offensively became a stagnant unit in the second half averaged only 23 points per game. So this is going to be an ugly game, and it's scoreless early. Although the Rams right now we're driving. They have the ball inside the Seattle 30 yard line. Tonight at 8 15 Eastern. 5 15 Pacific. It's the Buccaneers and Washington. For a look at the books. John Ledyard from Peter Report does a great job covering Tampa. And the blocks and Tom Brady and company and he joins us right now on CBS Sports Radio. John. Let's start with Mike Evans tell us about his status for this game. He absolutely, You know he is, I think not going to be 100%. But he is going to be at a point where I think they're going to feel comfortable playing him and again. How he goes on, warms up before the game matters. You know, there's nothing set in stone yet, but I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't try to give it a go. Based on all indications from this week, tested it out. He ran on the little bitty practice lightly on it and We'll see how it goes. And maybe he's on a pitch count. I'm not sure probably depends the game situation and it also probably depends on how well he's able to manage the pain. And if there is any and things like that, so we'll see what exactly you his status will be in terms of how much he plays, but I do think you'll be out there for the first snap for the box. Okay. If he's out there, John. What kind of difference do you think he makes in this game? Well, you know, he honestly, his primary difference in the game may come is I don't want to say decoy because that's disrespectful what he does, But Washington is kind of like the whole defense of philosophy is built upon stopping the deep ball like they've allowed the least amount of deposed tied with the Rams, among the least about of 20 plus yard passes this entire season, so they're kind of Built around that philosophy. Zeal. See a lot of two I saved. You'll see some quarters coverage, so their defense kind of really wants to take away my Kevin's anyway. So by having him out there, let them take away him and work the middle of the field with Chris God when it was Rob Gronkowski with Antonio Brown, and that's really I think, where campus kind of gonna make their money in this game, And so you know, he may. I mean, there's obviously always the potential for an explosive play down the field. On the outside with Evans. You know the curls into comebacks and things like that they'll try to target him on those. But my guess is this might be a game where Chris Godwin Antonio Brown would feast more than Evans, even if Evans were 100% healthy. Did. Brown turned the corner of the last game of the year, John Yeah, I think it was. It was a little bit of that, and er I mean, there was getting kind of acclimated to the offense. There's still some disconnect with Ian Brady on vertical routes this season, where he's been kind of mess. He's messing up some routes, not running him exactly where Brady would like them. But one of the best things that happened is over the course of the season. The Bucks realized that we can get this guy the ball very quickly, and he can make plays in space. And that is really One missing element from the Bucks receiving corps that Brown has been able to feel so tons of the screens out to him over the last couple weeks have been really effective for them. They've gotten him the ball and let him kind of do is saying good blocking out there by Chris Godwin and others. That's really been effective. It's not just been brown figuring out kind of getting activity with the rest. The offense has also been the Bucks coaching staff, saying, Okay, how can we use this guy best and then also realizing they can use him as an extra Seaver and he could be press coverage at a very high rate, and that can open up things for other guys, So they've started to tweet with his versatility, and that's opened up the offense for him and his role in the offense. Tampa Bay Bucks analyst John Legend..

"If Washington's leading by 14 points there, we're not talking about this right? It was a close game. Jason Kelsey had said what he said last week, and I do think the front office is cognizant of where they're picking and what could be on the line again. Three draft slots and you know you, you can kind of wave your hand at that say it's not a big deal. Well, what if they've decided internally and I don't know this, But what if they decided internally? We might be moving on from Carson Wentz. We want to look at the quarterbacks. That could be huge, right? Like now, all of a sudden, if you're a six Not only could you take a quarterback there now you're in range to go up and get one. Maybe it too. If the just decide they're moving that pic, so there's a lot of like things were having the six pick would give you Flexibility. And I do think again, organizationally. There was a decision made and how they were gonna handle that game. Well, Then I wonder if Howie Roseman, who's the GM will step up, and because Doug Peterson looks awkward at these press conferences when he's asked about this, and you know, even when he was saying, like who made this decision. And he fumbled around. He didn't know how to answer it. So I think that there's credibility to what you're saying that maybe it was out of his hands. It just didn't make sense. And you're right. I've said, you know, after the fact If it's a a standalone game, everybody has an opinion. Everybody, um And if you want to start Nate sun filled starting, right, Nobody cares. But you go. Hey, we're down three. This isn't Tebow time. I mean, you were making it seem like up. You know what? I've waited as long as I could. We're bringing in eight sun filled and he's gonna lead us to the promised land. Let me get a couple of things here. The Rams situation. When are they going to find out Who? Their quarterback Scott. Or just maybe Sean think they know who is quarterback is I think shopping, fake nose. Okay, we're back is I mean, I I talkto talk to John Walford after the game. Um, on Sunday, and he said to me that like he really knew last week like Monday or Tuesday, and I don't think it got out till much later in the week, But like they like he had been given a heads up, and it's like maybe Jared could go, But we're gonna prepare for you to start and so I think it's the same sort of situation like this is a regular season game. I don't think Jared Goff would play Obviously, the playoffs making put put put a, you know different layer of Of intrigue on all this, my guess would be they're going to get John Woolford ready to be the starter with the hope that maybe Jared Goff can go but again the way it worked last week, like John Wolfe for new really early on like this, that this was gonna be his show and it wouldn't surprise me at all. If the Rams have a very, very strong idea of which way this is going And that John Woolford and Jared Goff haven't idea too, because they're the ones who have to prepare for it. And then Washington. They're going to older think. How do you hold any quarterbacks in the game against campus? I think more than I think more than anything I saw it, Ron said. I think this is gonna be about there's gonna be a feel thing for them. What happened in that game, so they get off the 10? Nothing lead. And my understanding is like Alex got sore knit locked up on him a little bit like the calf did and it affected his mobility and affected their play calling And so I think they're going to go into this with the understanding at least like Alex, we love what you've done. If you could do it, we're gonna give you the best shot to do it. But we have to do what's best for the team. And so you know, they have more confidence and Taylor. Hi, Nikki than I think A lot of people realize their offensive coordinator. Scott Turner had Hideaki both in Minnesota and Carolina. So there's a lot of background there s Oh, you know, I think this is gonna be a feel thing, and I think the under the understand the nature of the injury. Is such where Alex like, doesn't really know right now, how it's gonna feel sunny. In fact, if you wanna go back to week, 16, And you know that whole thing with Haskins and everything else. Like on Friday. Alex thought he was going to play. They worked him out on Saturday. It like it got sore and they made the decision. Okay, like it doesn't look like he's been able to play. We've got to make the switch now and we'll see it being going Sunday morning, but they expected to go forward with Haskins at that point. I think it could be the same sort of thing this week where, like he feels better than he did two weeks ago, probably feel better than he felt last week, but they at least have to give themselves the out where if it if it causes him some problems again over the weekend. I think they play Saturday night, right, like a because of a problem with it, because I'm a problem Saturday, it was gonna affect their play calling the way they run their offense. They at least have the second guy ready to go. Great stuff, Albert. We appreciate you joining us as always. Thank you. Awesome. Thanks to enjoy the Games weekend. "Big win for the Rams. They beat the Cardinals and clinched a playoff berth. Final score 18 to 7. Unclear, though. Jared Goff for John Walford will get the start is QB when they face Seahawks in the wild card game is Saturday. Meanwhile, Chargers and their season where they went over the chief's 38 to 21, that's pretty cool was anybody playing for the chief's couldn't have been could have been No 38 21 quarterback Justin Herbert threw three touchdown passes Ranch one, breaking the record for most touchdowns by a rookie in NFL history with 36 before the season. That's good. So the charges you know, looking better for next year. Obviously, that's where it was four consecutive wins to finish their season now what it was wow. "They have a shot at the top seed there, but I think most people sort of assume that they're not gonna be able to get there. 2.5 right now the line is switched completely on this one. Dolphins now favored by 2.5, so most people are are starting to swing the other way because they're like in the reports that Buffalo may not even play their starters for very long special on the offense. Yeah, they can be the top seed, but then get number two number two, and I still think the bills win this game. They're better football team across the board. And if the Dolphins go with two Ah, I don't know what they put up enough points to be that defense. I think Buffalo is gonna keep most of his defense out there. They'll keep most of skill positions out there. The only thing I think you're gonna protect some of your offensive lineman and Josh Allen anybody else It seems injury prone or You know that kind of stuff. You might give them a light work day. So I think Buffalo wins this one. If you're getting points on top of it so much better. Yeah. Plus 2.5. Do you care about the over under 42 kind of feels like a weird spot here. I mean, both these teams I think normally you'd go the over, but this is gonna be kind of weird game. I still think over his chance to cash your behavior reliant on buffalo and or Fitzpatrick to come in and replace to a But, you know, I think the over his chance to cash I steer clear that, but just the not knowing who's gonna play for how long were you just bet on the outcome here in the bills. I bet the bills to win. Okay. Detroit hosting Minnesota, one of the highest over unders on the day 53 a half Right now you have Minnesota favored by three. That's Stafford is going to play today for Detroit, which I think bodes well, if you have some DFS implications here because the You want this game to continue out there If you're starting a lot of these players, but for this specific purpose, probably like Minnesota and this one. Do you lay the three? Yeah, and it's interesting. That line's changed. Started forward a half this down to three. That's interesting at the over under seems a little high to me. I think it's below low scoring game, but I think in a sort of takes it, you go ahead and lay the three on that, I think would be fun. OK, the Patriots and the Jets Patriots are laying three. You get that it plus 100 on the Bedford sports app over under 41. So people sort of expecting this one to be pretty low scoring. What do you think you take the other on that, By the way, the under it is slipping. I think it's down like 39 a half right now. The Jets don't score much. Patriots certainly don't score much, and it would be interesting. This is the first towel game. I think the Patriots a plane while his last time the Patriots play the game. It didn't matter Season. Right s. Oh, it's you know, it's it's been a while. Be interesting to see how they come out on that one eyed Patriots could win it that over 139 and a half of what you say 41. I guess they still got into bed, Fred, that's giving you a couple extra points. Um, you might look into that, okay? And, of course, the reports out that Adam case will be summarily fired after this game, Something that has been tomorrow reported for a very long time by Benjamin. All right, let's get to our wager Spotlight brought to us by urban lights, Visit the 20,000 Square foot showroom to find the perfect lighting fixture for your home. Go to urban lights. Denver dot com would go to the Rams and the Cardinals. This one was some major implications here. Both teams trying to get in. They need this win. And right now, the Rams with John Walford are plus one and the over under this was 41 points. Looks like Tyler's gonna give it a go. Maybe not Larry Fitzgerald or chase Edmunds. But, um more less. This is gonna be really fascinating game with massive implications. Yeah, the Cardinals needed s. Oh, that's that's one thing you gotta watch out for. I still think the Rams can win this and Walford is being backed up by Blake Bortles. So if he lays an egg and go in the direction of quarterback has got some experience in situations like this. Like the Rams and this one. I think they get the better defense on guy Think that with a banged up Cuyler unable to run, you can kind of corral cliffs offense. You know what he's gonna do. It's gonna be throws at the sticks about every time without breaking routes. Expect couple turnovers. I expect the ranch to win. It's.

Can't wait to see what comes in so There's something I want to get to write. Arizona and the Rams are playing today Big time game. This is playoff experience for the playoff berth for either team is on the line. They've got to win this game. The Rams could technically do it, but it won't really both. It depends on the Bears. But there's playoff steaks between these two teams within the division. And for the Rams. There in a bit of a peculiar spot, Because think about this Jared Goff is injured and the backup quarterback for the Rams. Well, nobody really knows who he is. Can you do it? It's all a favor and tell us how to say your last name. Woolford. You pronounce the L word? Yeah, I think so. Little bit. OK. Some of your coaches have had a few other variations of that. I don't even cracked. It doesn't bother me. I don't even know the poor kid's name so good. They have no idea to say his name like and he's like, Oh, care. Say whatever you want. Do you productively? L I don't know. A little kind of. It's like bro. It's your name. Thank you Wanna like who else would say it? Who else would know how to say it was, is what I meant, is it? It's great, then it's crazy. Just like yeah, Whatever, man. I'm just happy to be early. It's cool. All the coaches were called on the wrong day. I mean, think about this. They called him like curse words. I'm sure he's like, Yeah, great as long as they like, know that I'm here. As long as they're not just calling him by his number. You know if he was at this point in the season, and they're like, Lesson four, you know, like that Z would really be treasures. Is that what that was me when I played freshman football? This is this is how bad my sports career was. I played freshman football in high school I had the same practice number is another guy. And they never learned my name the whole season. I was the other 50. I wasn't even 50. I was the other 50 gold senores. Your John Wilford. That's you? Yes. So this guy who no one knows his name, including the coaching staff of the team that he plays for, well, he's going they said. Go get him. It's only a play off spot on the line. Go figure it out. You gotta go get him, Johnny Boy, They just don't call him by. They just never bring up the last name in a sport where you got a lot of people on the roster, you gotta figure They mentioned the last like a lot of guys have to be called by their last week. By the way, isn't Sean McVeigh some sort of savant away? Who remembers everything? Well, yes. You know, he can't tell me he doesn't remember this kid's had foreseen this kid's name. Maybe he's the only guy he's the on Lee won. Everybody else's like Wolfie. I don't know. Like they just they just try to get his close as they possibly can. And he doesn't care. So he's just like him. As long as I'm starting school. How much is this team kicking themselves? By the way? I mean, don't they have to be just feel like kicking themselves to the They had. They had the Jets and their building and they couldn't beat them. Like how much should they just be like? Oh, man, we stink. Yeah, like do we even deserve to get here And now we're gonna play this poor kid, and he We don't even know who he is. Because golf golf could be back. He could be back. If they make it far enough into the playoffs. They haven't exactly said How far that would be. But if they make it far enough to the playoffs, he could play so Yeah. Beat the Jets would be nice. Now here's then let me ask you Where did John Woolford Where did he go to college? Where do you play? Oh, man, e was looking him up all week. Like until you play for the Arizona hotshots in the alliance of American football there. I could tell you that much. I kind of miss the lives of American football. You're the only one I'm except for the guy who most mornings on this network. You and him the only people technically I host mornings as well. True, Let's you and him are the same. Josh Allen's 320 passing yards marked his 8th 300 yard passing game this season, one more than Drew Bledsoe for the bill's record, and Buffalo wide receiver Stefan Diggs caught three touchdowns. He had nine catches for 145 yards and now has more receiving yards than any bills receiver before in one season. For the Patriots, it was a different kind of record setting night, one for futility Cam Newton and threw for fewer yards. "In week 16 with the Washington football team one game away from making the playoffs. They need to be filly in order to get there. But that is not the on Lee Big story. On this Monday headed into the final week of the regular season. The Los Angeles Rams just announced on their official Twitter account that quarterback Jared Goff underwent surgery on his broken right thumb on Monday in Los Angeles. He is unlikely to play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, sources told ESPN is Adam Schefter, and if he can't go It'll be John Walford golfs back up in line to start, but the thought process here JD is that golf could return for the playoffs. If the Rams do advance they lose to Seattle. Seattle, Clinton see NFC West In week 16. That was the Sunday afternoon game yesterday. He popped it back, and he played through what he completed. 60 14 passes for 74 yards after the injury and said it didn't bother him on this, Rose. I don't buy that. Is that sounds very painful. But what kind of position do you think the Rams air in here? Not necessarily needing Jared Goff for this final game, But having a quarterback come back in such a short period of time to make a playoff push. This is what I think the thought process is. You can tell me corny if you think I'm wrong, okay? This is what I think the Rams. We're looking at this now for the Rams to be out. They have to lose the Arizona Sunday and Chicago has to be Green Bay. Green Bay is playing for the number one seed in the NFC, the same Green Bay Packers that just demolished the Titans last night on Sunday night. Football. Green Bay has won 18 of the last 21, Courtney Against the Chicago Bears. I think what the Rams air saying is this. We believe The Bears are gonna lose. And if we lose the Arizona so be it will be in his long as Chicago loses, and we would rather have Jared Goff be somewhat available for our playoff game. Then force him out there this Sunday when he's clearly not even close to being ready. He needs the surgery. He'll be ineffective and even if we get in, and they might You'll be so shot for the playoffs. We have no chance. That's what I think. The thought processes in Los Angeles. They will never admit to that. Of course, I'm not saying it's like 100% automatic that the Bears are going to lose. But Courtney, if you're playing the odds here Don't you think it's a very favorable development for the Rams that Green Day has to play that game against Chicago all out to ensure they get the number one seed in the NFC? Absolutely. I mean, the Rams are nine and six right now, After losing yesterday, they've got Arizona eight Uneaten. Seven Arizona team Sunday. 4 25 Eastern. They clinch their playoff. Really, That's the thing they're not locked up yet. By any stretch is is why it's so Wild Week seventeen's going to decide so money faith for a number of different teams, especially in this NFC playoff picture, but They're in with a win or a tie. So that's controlling your own destiny. That's controlling your faith. And then they have to rely to potentially in Chicago losing or time to Green Bay, and that performance that I saw from Aaron Rodgers on Sunday night football. I don't give the bears any sort of chance. So I do think they're hedging their bets pretty confidently in the fact that They can control their own destiny, and they can rely on the bears to to not win that game. Mister Frisky's been playing pretty well, though, JD. I mean, I'm not saying that they're going to go play the Packers tougher or anything like that. I remember watching that Sunday night game where that thing was over by halftime. Little different circumstances now, and it's a different guy playing at quarterback. For the Chicago Bears, but nonetheless, I feel like the Rams are in a confident position. No way to to do this for golf now knowing that, hey, we need him back for the playoffs. We need to get the surgery done. Give him as much time as he can to heal because John Walford Whomever else is not going to cut it when they have to go through a gauntlet that first weekend in the wild card. We also don't know what's up with Skylar Murray, either. Courtney in Arizona. That's another big story. Now. Cliff Kingsbury today sounded opportunistic. I read the story about Josh Wine first on ESPN dot com. He was opportunistic that Murray would be available, but he went down with that lower leg injury. In the last couple of minutes of their game on Sunday, so if he can't go and golf doesn't go, you've got the battle of the backup quarterbacks would be. That's another reason they feel like Let's just get this done now with God. Give him the best possible chance to be effective on wild card weekend. Granted, we get in. I think the timing of it is unfortunate. It's never the right time for your starting quarterback to suffer ligament and dislocation issues on their hands. You know what their thumb This is the reality that they're dealing with. So I mean, wow, if you if you thought that week, 17 already didn't have all this intrigue with the Bears and Packers and Arizona and Rams. About both teams. Having the starting quarterbacks hurt for Arizona and Los Angeles. That's going to be amazing to see which team wins that game. If both have to play their backup quarterbacks, and we'll get into the Arizona situation with one of our experts a little bit later in the show. Rams coach Sean McVeigh confirmed that golf did have some surgery, saying quote. We felt like it was going to be the best thing to do for him and for our team and quote. Adding that golf also had some screws inserted into that thumb, but he could be available for the playoffs. If there's anybody out there who knows? Like, you know, 100% for effect Can quarterbacks play with screws and their thumbs? Especially in your throwing hand? I mean, we heard about Chris Godwin having pins in his hand and in other, you know, position position players. Lot of receivers have that stuff happen when you jammed fingers. What have you But the thought of having screws in your hand And this is your two weeks removed from wild card weekend and expecting to throw with that. I don't know how that works, do you? Well, that's where our Stefania Bell would come into play here. We'll ask the fine..
