"Makes more sense. The casinos are built because they make money and you have to win on the margins and to me, you really have to cut down kind of the BS. You have to cut down on the fat and play the wagers that are paid out and are fair. And in our game, depending on the circuit, depending on the race, sometimes those are available, and sometimes they're not. And in those instances where the track is not playing a fair game, then I can go play at a different track. I can enjoy watching the races, but I don't have to bet on the races. And then we see tracks change and we see them do things that are abundantly fair. I can't tell you how exciting it is that fair grounds is added to 15% takeout, pick 5s that are racing has always been tremendous. They're racing menu has not, and now they have adjusted that. It's so exciting that their turf course is going to be back on the line. And they have such fun races to pay attention to, and now give you a legitimate chance to bet on. You know, the other thing Charles brought up when he was talking about who gets a gift and who gets cold or whatever it might be. And he gave a gift to trainer Charlie appleby. And I think that's a fantastic call because you look at what he has done just in North America this year. He's won. I believe it's 8 or 9 greatest mistakes. Let's say one, two, three, four, 5, 6, 7, 8 graded stakes and 7 of those were grade ones, including the breeders cup turf, the breeders cup mile, the juvenile turf sprint, and then he won the Saratoga Derby invitational, the RICO one would buy mile in the Patterson summer stakes. Those are his 6th grade ones. So that's a great call. And I love this call on male thought too. Was that that may have been that distaff may have been the race of the year. It was a tremendous race. I can never and will never look at it positively because if blue stripe wins, I am hitting on an unbelievable pick 5 and pick 6 in the flight line and blue stripe just missed. I had Clare who I liked a great deal in the race and I covered mala fat and we all respect male fed. I just love that the grittiness of mala fat, but it did not go the way I was hoping. So who gets cold? Male fat for beating blue stripe or blue stripe for not beating male with that. Well, I actually think that Charles hit it on the head. John Velazquez is a Hall of Famer for a reason and he gets a present because he generally rides the perfect race. Yeah, he's got no more room for all the gifts that he receives. Unbelievable. All right, 888-966-4776, the number of the call. You still have time to call in, get into the show and receive your free HR and ball cap just for making it on the show on this Thursday edition of the Collins show. We're going

"Before we dive into this week's talk and there are several topics as I just referenced, but there are even more topics than the ones that I mentioned at the top of the show that we'll get to. But I want to look back on last week for a quick second because we had the privilege of being joined by our good friend and Hall of Famer Nick zito and I thought Nick was a wonderful addition to the program last week. He has great stories and boy he brought a lot to the table. Didn't he Dale? He did a great job, you know? Nick's never short of words. And we'll run out of story. So it's good. We need to having back soon if we can. Yeah, we absolutely will. Timmy, I know it was enjoyable for you too. It was, you know, because Nick is, he's a character. And he's, you know, he says what's on his mind, no matter what it is, and you know, he's doesn't mince words and, you know, he's a pleasure to talk with and you know, I've done that for years and he would say right or wrong. We're going to get to that site. Nick is going to be with us again in spirit anyway as we do have that right or wrong segment coming up later in the show. But let's kick it off this way. Hall of Fame jockey John Velasquez was fined $4017 and suspended one day for his ride on cigar mile winner mind control last Saturday at aqueduct. Velazquez struck mind control 7 times during the race, which is one more than the 6 strike limit permitted by Isa. According to high school guidelines, the punishment is warranted, but are you guys in agreement with the parameters of this regulation? Dale, let's kick it off with you. No, I like this subject because I've been beating this drum for a while. It's ridiculous that these days that we have this rule. What's the difference you get horses if you want to hit a horse at 6 times or 7 times. But what we need to educate the public on is the whips have changed through hitting them with a piece of star foam. It doesn't cause pain. It's not like the old piece of leather that and the ride that was in there that we reconfigured the whips. It's more about making noise and giving a cue than anything. And we need to educate the public on that and quit worrying about how many times the whip is used. I think it's terrible for the game that we keep advertising. This guy's fine for beating a horse. We need to do is advertise that there's a piece of star foam on the end of that now and I've been hit with them. It doesn't hurt anymore. It's a whole different ball game. And it's still getting accused to the horse and it's making noise. And getting them to go. It's a ridiculous rule. It's just placating to public opinion. I don't know. Who is placating two? But if we just show people what their jocks are using these days, I think everybody would be fine with it. You know, the thing that gets me on this, and first of all, why was this fine $4017? I don't get that. It was a percentage of the overall purse that Velazquez was going to win for winning the race. It was a percentage of the money he was going to earn. Well, I still think it's stupid, but you know, if you're a writer and that race was a ding dong finish. And is Johnny B who was one of the best of all time. He's coming down the stretch to see he's concentrating on winning that race. But then he has to also be having the back of my kid. I hit the horse 6 times already, did I hit the horse 7 times, you know, that could make a jockey lose focus in a way because, you know, they have to see they're looking at the finish and they're using their best judgment of trying to motivate their horse. And I think if they have to concentrate on how many times I've used the whip, I think that could cause more problems than helpful because it has to be all about safety. I mean, if the jockeys is thinking more about the whip than he is about the race, I think there's a big problem and you know, I just think it's a stupid rule and I don't understand why they do it. And again, you know, the styrofoam thing, it's not about, it's not about a punishment. It's about keeping the horse focused. So I think it's a stupid rule and ice is just, this is just dumb to me. Yeah, is this an example of hi so maybe overstepping their bounds here or maybe not understanding that side of the game, which sounds crazy to say because John Velazquez is a member of the high sub board. So he is there to educate people on what riders go through and here he is the one that's getting fined in this situation. But is this a situation of just not fully understanding this side of the business or Dale? Does it fall along the same lines as their regulations involving Lasix and Lasix free racing, which many horsemen say, hey, we need that for our older horses. So where do we look at how do we look at it? It's a feel good rule. It's a feel good rules what it is. And I don't know if that play came to Peter or who it is to say, you know, we're not hitting number 6 times. Well, you're still hitting them 6 times. What we ought to be doing is saying, hey, we've got star foam whips now. It really isn't a painful thing. We need to be educating people of that. You're right. In the heat of the battle, I mean, you think about these guys. They got three toes and sitting on a little piece of lead or

"Like child said, am I she had one, but then they kept on replaying as replaying us. And I was like, oh my gosh, but no. It was great. And one last one from retired. Is it a little bittersweet with nest finishing fourth? I mean, you had two of the two from a lot of people standpoint in this race and one of them was going to have to lose. Yeah, I mean, that's the situation you're in. When you run more than one horse and a race. So nothing worked out well for nest today. She didn't jump well from the start. She was spinner wheels around the first turn and she was very wide all the way around and because she wasn't really in the position. We wanted to be irad, had to make a little bit of an move sooner than he wanted to and very wide while doing it. I was concerned when they hit the first term that it wouldn't go on her way today. What did Johnny say to you after the race? No, he was very excited, obviously. And I was just kidding and I said, you know, don't cut those so close too old for those type of finishes these days. But he showed why he's one of the greatest of all time. He's a big time performer on when it's the biggest prize. He shows up with a brilliant ride. Congratulations, shadwell stable, Todd Fletcher John Velazquez. And male fat for the breeders cup to staff. Thank you. Jill Byrne handling the press conference hosting duties doing a great job there. And you heard from Todd putcher talking about that huge win from is she now heads off to the next career as a brood mirror. When I come back, I'll get you ready for hour number two. "6 lane on the outside. But my horse is excited too. I remember winning a race in Churchill down when I first came right to him. He fought back and put his head in from and I could feel, you know, right when I turned for home, you know, that I have more under me, but he didn't want to give it to me. And then what I did, we do have to start slowly coming down and like I said, put it in a 5 mode right there. And you know, I knew it was going to be a battle because several nights, it's a whole day, they have a lot of risks where he's being ahead to head and most of the time and that up in the winning side. But I had to use trust my horse at that time. I knew he had a big determination to win that race and he had it down for me right there. Talking with Jackie junior alvarado here on the equine forum presented by twin spires looking back on junior's first win in a breeders Cup race and it comes at a very special moment with a very special horse in Cody's wish. Let's talk about a race. You didn't win, but you were best of the rest, if you will, behind the brilliant flight line, who wins the breeders cup classic by 8 and a quarter lengths. That is a record margin in the 39 year history of the breeders cup classic olympiad ends up second behind him. At odds of 26 to one, I could not believe that olympiad was not getting more respect from the betters considering the campaign that he had this year. Yes, that's what it was. We just talked a little bit before we started the interview. I just, for me, I think that was one of the best race he ever run and we still would just finish second by 8 lanes behind fly line in a course. I never seen something like that, that horse is just an unbelievable racehorse. He got something else that I haven't seen in the horse to wait. He roams what he moves. He's just an unbelievable, but my whole run a great race. I just remember passing the wire like screaming at my horse like congratulating him. I was petting him and the way back after the race, you know, I keep petting him. And I was very happy that he was kind of reacted to me when I was petting him and talking to him. He kind of like saw that we won the race the way he was coming back. He was coming back very happy with his head very high, like very proud of himself. He actually gave me a lot of joy for not having winning that race, but making sure that he was understanding that I was very proud of what he did for me and in that race. He brought you to my ears. I had to my eyes when I was about to jump off of him. Yeah, nobody was going to beat flight line, as you said, he's at a different level. And olympiad certainly deserved a little bit more credit. I think that he was getting from the betters going into this race. And like you said, he ran probably the best race he has run this entire year, and that's saying a lot, considering that he already had 6 wins from 7 starts coming into the breeders cup. And he ran the best race, but he ends up 8 and a quarter lengths behind flight line. John Velazquez after the race joined us on our coverage and he just went on and on about how good flight line really is. Did you get the same sense to junior as you were trying to come up in some way to stay close to him? Yes, what part did I remember that I was that all the sudden I got very excited was when we were by the three quarter poll when we turned the backside and we just passed the three quarter pole like I found my horse, you know, normally my horse is a horse to know how fast it's going. I can pace my horse. I know when he's going to 47 when he's running 48 and I could feel he's going fire he's going like around 47 and change close to 48 and I'm like 16, 17 behind the life is good and flight lines from thinking like they're going to stop. I mean there is no way I mean it is impossible for not a horse I mean doesn't matter how good you are you will have to start with this kind of case you're going. So like I said at that point I'm just trying to be focused trying to rush myself trying to don't get too excited to use remember that they will come back to me and try to be this horse of the world around me because I thought we were going to be it's going to be just a bit too much because I thought those horses were going to come back and eventually life is good, which is an unbelievable horse he had an unbelievable year. I hope you didn't have nothing to prove like very extraordinary horse. He backed up like he should. But the other animal I mean I just couldn't understand when I turned for home and I just saw him keep drawing away and I was like, I just couldn't believe you know at that point I just keep writing because I knew I think it would be an amazing second for us but like while going through my mind like I was still in disbelief like how just hold you skip running and stopping like I guess I have no way. I just couldn't believe that that was still happening. The whole steel was going forward after this crazy pace that he was going to. Yeah, everybody had that same opinion. That's exactly what Johnny said after the race too. He was waiting for them to come back to him and it never it never happened. He just drew off and continued to widen through the stretch. And then one under wraps, which is really incredible, but I loved your story about olympiad and how much that meant to you and I love the way that you let the horse know. Hey, you did great today, buddy. This was awesome. Yes, exactly. I had a great year with this horse. He's been very kind to me. And to be honest, anyone could read in this course would have the same results. You know, I didn't think that I did anything special. It's a very hard to write and like I said, he's been very kind to me to my family. This year and the reason I could do is let him know that he did a fantastic job that he did what I asked him to do. And that he was there for me and like I said, I was just very happy to know the he knew that I was giving appreciation and like I said, he was very happy to know that too. Well, junior closing in on 2000 career wins. And it won't take you long to get to that Mark. I know you'll be there. Maybe even by the end of the year. Who knows? But I'm curious, what do you do for an encore now? You've had one of the best seasons in the history of your career. How do you top this one? It's very difficult. Trying already used to imagine because I

"Thought that might be a little creative. We're getting some creative responses. And I'll pass them along later in the program as well. Tell us your favorite breeders cup classic winner using only a GIF and there have been so many memorable ones over the years and my special guest John Velazquez knows the thing or two about winning breeders cup races, but he also knows about winning the test stakes and the Whitney. He has won each of those races, which are going to be renewed again later today. On four different occasions, he has four test wins. He has four Whitney wins, and he joins me now to take a little stroll through racing history and look back on those moments. Johnny, appreciate the visit, my friend. Thank you. Michael, nice to be with you. Yeah, really excited. It's always fun to catch up with you. You were one of the very first people speaking of racing history. When I started this network nearly 20 years ago, one of the first people I met, I'll never forget the day at Gulfstream park. You took me through the jockey's room and you introduced me to Javier castellano and several other riders and you've just been a first class individual and a wonderful friend ever since and I can't thank you enough for helping me get this off the ground and I'm really excited to look back some of your top moments here today too. And I think 20 years already. Yeah. Yeah, I think, you know, I think it was actually, let's see. It would have been 2000, okay, 16 years. It was 2006 when I think it was brass hat won the Don handicap down there. Oh my God, you got a great memory. I'm telling you, I've told that story many times on the show. I've never forgotten that day and you were so kind to take me under your wing and coach me through some of the things when I, when I do interviews with jockeys and some of the things you've told me, I've never forgotten those things. Very good. I hear you are a big time in the game right now. I'm just trying to keep up with you. Are you kidding me? You want to talk about big time. You've got those three letter three words next to your name. Hall of Fame. I don't have a friend. Obviously, this is really good for our sport to have you guys and come in and do the things that you guys do for the sport and get audience people coming into our game. So it's a win win for everybody. Yeah, and you know a thing about win win winning too because you've done it more than any jockey in the history of Saratoga. Let's reminisce a little bit here, Johnny. I wanted to look back on the four test takes victories that you've had. And then the four Whitney wins that you've had. All right, the four test stakes, it began in 1996 for you. And the first one was one of my all time favorite Phillies. Her name was capote bell. What do you remember about that day? And what do you remember about her? Oh my God, she was one of those special horses. And I probably hear me saying that with a lot of the torches that I wound up, but for me, it was one of my first horses that I got on and it was so impressive and I mean, first of all, I actually brace her when she was a 12 year old. So I knew her from the year before basically, you know? So for her to come back and as a three year old in come back and run this racist that she didn't try to what's incredible. And she was a powerful big silly and fast. I think she was she was so fast that she did everything very, very easily. Yeah, she was trained by Danny pietz and owned by Robert and luana lo. Who were great supporters of the game and she was, I still have photo albums, Johnny. When I used to go there is a young kid and I would take pictures of, I guess, at that point I was 20 something years old. I wasn't really that young, but I would take pictures of horses in the post braid. And I remember, I still had the photo albums of capote bell. I know she's in there somewhere. Yeah. Very powerful for, like I said, this is like it breakthrough year from between 95, 96, getting these kind of horses like that and constantly getting something. So one of those special years for me that kind of kept me going. It's interesting because when you think about your four wins in the test, only one of the four came with your good friend and wonderful supporter Todd Fletcher, that was that was in 1999. Your second win. It was Marley Vale for Eugene melnick. And again, Todd was the trainer. Tell me about Marley Vale. This is a funny story too, because I think I wasn't even, I mean, I was writing a little bit, you know? And he just started training just a few years prior to that he was getting just getting big. And I don't think I was even supposed to ride her, in fact, Jerry belly was on her. And I picked up them out. I think Lucas had a horse in the race and there, and then I end up picked up early bail and then went in with her. So when I was lugging things and that year, 1999 was probably the year they tie and I got really started a little bit 98 but 99 was that they'll feel that we got together from now on and kind of grew together so it was a great experience and obviously picking up that feeling went in and that kind of decided the connections right there, you know? How did that relationship with you and Todd initially get started? You said it was about that time. But how does that work between a jockey and a trainer? Do you just start winning races for the guy? And he says, hey, I'm going to keep putting you on horses or was this something that you sat down and talked about with you being more of a regular rider for him? Well, I knew captain see you sit down for weighing and I was writing one horse in there for him seems to start it right. But when I got my book in 98, it plugged in so I came in. The new start, the new trainer, something training and Daniel will be the new champion Jackie do you know, we've got to get together. We got to get more so, you know, and kind of grew a growing and I'd say 99 was a year that kind of really put everything together and we took off from there. It was kind of strange things that you know he was going I was drawing. We got together really well and got a loan well obviously with all different horses so he would get another time. So it kind of grew from there. It's been a wonderful relationship ever since. Talking with Hall of Fame jockey John Velasquez here on the horse racing radio network walking back through time and looking back at his wins and the test stakes and we'll get to his Whitney wins coming up shortly. Your third win in the test came 9 years later. It was in 2008 for Bob Baffert. It was the brilliant Indian blessing. Tell me about that performance. Well, another horse that I think Gary got me was fighting her in on an island.

He showed a new dimension as he wasn't able to get the early lead, but settled nicely under Jackie John Velazquez before finally kicking in late to win handily over long shot barber road with Ben diesel checking in third. Since newgrange is trained by Bob Baffert, he wasn't eligible to earn the ten valuable qualifying points toward this year's Kentucky Derby. Out west, dick Mandela's forbidden kingdom easily wired the field in the 7 furlong San Vicente, he could tie two turns next in the grade two San Felipe at Santa Anita on March 5th. Three points qualifiers highlight this weekend, each worth ten points to the winners, starting with today's grade three holy bull at Gulfstream park. "What I want to say. Everyone else, though, I think is kind of interesting, their manner, another Bob Baffert horse. I don't know what to make of the last one. A maiden special weight won by 12 lengths in bob has won this race 5 different times did did the horse want a route and finally found the right footing what happened the first two times sprinting second at 6 to one, a Bob Baffert horse was 6 to one first time out, came back as a big favor and didn't run particularly well ran fourth in a ten horse field beaten by three legs. I feel like if the horse was gigantic, we would see something before that first route race last time, and then queen of thorns gets flavian prod and I just don't think that race the maiden special way to a 6 for a long race at Santa Anita on the 1st of January. I don't think it was a very good race, but Queen of thorns certainly was really, really good winning by 8 lengths against four rivals at four to 5. Very pricey horse daughter of violence. It wouldn't surprise me if it isn't alarmingly better than these. It wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't win this race. I just feel like the resume is the best and I'm most comfortable with her. Okay, so eta for Dave, I went to the other baffert training number three a dare manner. Listen, her first two races don't compete in this race. Her last race probably wins. So I don't know what to make of that. Will she run that race again? Will she regress off that gigantic effort? Will she be able to get the lead Sunday in the last virginis like she did last time out in her maiden race, both queen of thornes and eta look like they have speed as well. So going to be interesting, John Velazquez seems to have a way of getting to the lead though in races where it looks like there's a lot of pace. He ends up on the lead. Maybe that's going to happen with a dare manor again. I'm going to try a dare man or to win back to back, Dave going with Ida. We both think Bob Baffert has the grips around the grade three loss virginis race three on the Sunday card at Santa Anita. Move all the way forward to the 8th race on the card. And I would normally intro this race day by saying it's a points qualifier on the road to The Kentucky Derby. However, it may be a points qualifier on the road to The Kentucky Derby. It really depends on who wins the race and so forth. The winner of the race, assuming they're not trained by Bob Baffert, gets ten valuable qualifying points on the road to the Derby. The problem is that baffert has two of the 5 runners in the field, messier, down along the inside, and Wharton coming off a nice maiden win. Yeah, I mean, I don't think I have anything here that the public isn't going to figure out for themselves. The two I like best are the two courses on the rail. Messier last time out was okay, fair rant, second and a 5 force field is the favorite in a great Los alamitos. The race before that, the bob hoped the grade three win. I thought it was pretty good not spectacular, but strong against three rivals. The maiden race though back in October was incredible. I mean, the most impressive race that anyone in this field has run to me. It's baffert. He's won this race 9 times. I think blinkers come off pricey horse nearly half $1 million son, vampire maker, messier, fits very nicely big work on January 30th. I'm interested in sir London to though the last one as a big favorite in a maiden special weight at low salamis was terrific and did floppy and Pratt Bobby choose sir London over messier. Well, I don't know. That's a darn good question. Normally you'd look at it and say, yes, he did, except for the fact that John Velazquez has been writing so many high profile Bob Baffert runners. You don't know if he was just given the call on messier who is coming off a defeat last time out by the way at odds of one to two. I went to sir London on top. Listen, I know that the field he beat at Los alamitos was a maiden field at Los alamitos. They generally not very strong when you compare them to maiden races at del mar and Santa Anita. But he did it the right way. And he looks like he's going to be better as the races get longer. And I'm going to stick with flavian Pratt, just in case he had his choice in there. I don't know. I think it's pretty wide open. I went to sir London. Who you're going with messier on top? Yeah, I think it's those two and while I love the fact prot stays on the two. I think messier has both the best figs in here and the most impressive race in here. So messier is my pick. All right, messier for Dave. Sir London for me in the grade three Robert B Lewis race 8 on the Sunday card at San Anita. 14 stakes in the book, Dave. It's time now for the niner bets..

"We covered his race on race day back on December 10th, first race in 11 and a half months and I thought he ran okay and totally ran out of gas going 5 and a half furlongs at Oakland and the horse that beat him that day Hollis put together a huge fig and one going away by four and a half lengths at nearly 5 to one 9 to two that day. So how is the Nashville face off again here? And the third horse that I think has a big chance is collusion illusion for Mark glad and John Velazquez, I don't know what you do with the two races in 2021. They were both ugly, one on turf that del mar in August 1 at Santa Anita on dirt in October just did not run well in a pair of grated stakes races. Go back to 2020 facing the likes of charlatan and whitmore and CC rocket and was competitive hitting the board twice in grade one and grade two races and then earlier that year was on a roll winning the Bing cross be among others. I don't know what we're gonna get off the layoff from collusion illusion. I'm clear that he's good enough, but not good enough to me to trust right now. The works are good. I'm gonna use them, but I'm not gonna pick them on top. I'm going back to Nashville. I was just so impressed with the first three races. And I thought last time off for a very long time, it's okay that he was short. That's kind of a work slash race. He liked to win, but you're trying to get a good race into him and I think we'll see much, much better tomorrow. All right, Dave's going with Nashville. I'm also going with Nashville. I think he's going to improve second start off the bench. I put him on top. I'm going to use number 9 7 nation army a little bit as well, just because I think he loves it there at Oakland park. And he's another one who can improve second start off the layoff Nashville for both Dave and myself in the king cotton race ten tomorrow at Oak Lawn park. We're going to take a break when we come back. We're going to dive into that big card at Gulfstream, highlighted by the Pegasus World Cup. You're listening to the weekend stakes preview presented by nyra betts on the horse racing.

"Not. When I look at this race, I'm not going to tell you what horse I'm going to play. I'm just going to tell you there's only one horse. I can play in this race. And I'm just going to leave it at that. Well, that's an interesting note Charles because I know at one point you were as against nix go as anyone we spoke with. And I'm not sure if he did enough in his last race to sway you to his side or you're just going to take another shot against him. Well, you know I've got a track or record. And so I'm just not going to go there. I'm just going to say I have an opinion in this race. I will be making a sizable bed on one of these horses. And I'll just leave it like that. Okay. I think what we may need to know, Charles, since you're such a fan of the racing at Oakland, aside from what's going on at Gulfstream this weekend, they got the Martha Washington, the king cotton in the southwest on Saturday at Oakland. Who do you like there? Bobby, I'm gonna tell you about Oakland park. You do have to study, I mean, you got 14 races. I mean, 14, 13, 14 horses and the southwest. I got 12, 12 is what's going? 12. I mean, they are so close. And that track has been running different ways at different times. If you watched it real close, but James was very, when he said the inside post positions are where you want to be even in his prints are out. I'm not so sure about the one hole in his friends, because right. But I'm telling you that inside in those routes has been decent. But I wanted to tell the reason I called to talk about a good friend. Mister Bob Baffert. And his courtroom. How do you say it is? Bobby? Have you been listening to some of the stories? First of all, not about the I think it's hilarious. I think it's hilarious. And the reason why I say the reason I say that Charles is that I like chaos, especially when it does not involve me. And that's what this is. And you can read about it and all the publications. We did a blood horse news update during race day. They cover it greatly where dick Downey actually basically tells you what each witness was asked and what they testified to and you know there's the who's who from veterinarians to higher ups at naira betts to Hall of Fame jockeys Mike Smith and John Velazquez to former stewards. And it's really amazing. What's going on? And I'll tell you this Charles reading it, I have no way no idea which way this is going to go. No idea. Oh, I know. I know which way it's going to go. It'll go baffert will win hands down. Because the only person that's not represented in any of this is the better. Bobby? It's the best interest of the better. And you know, after you listen there, look, how many positives has bob had? He had like 30 or 40? I mean, you know, his assistant trainer at Churchill, what's his name? Jimmy. Accidentally rubbed the medication on the horse though. Jimmy Barnes. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. You know, and I'm not trying to be cruel or anything. But I'm going to tell you and James because I'm a little older and I've had a little more life experiences than you all have, but my second wife was a dear lady. And one night, I came home. About 4 o'clock in the morning. And she said, let me go make a pot of coffee. I want to talk to you. And I say, sure. And she said, Charlie? This is the last time I'm ever going to wait up all night for you and she will motel soap when you get home. And I said, I got you. And I always thought, wow, that's a smart woman in it, Bobby. So it doesn't. When you talk about mister baffert, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, guess what it is, Bobby. You know what it is. And he trades great horses. He's a great trainer. He's got great riders, Hall of Fame, right? And I don't blame him. If I was Mike Smith and John Velazquez, I would be on the Concorde flying to New York to testify for bob Robert. Because they had both made a ton of money running for who. Bobby? Well, so what you're around about saying is that nyra smells the motel soap on Bob Baffert and they're just trying to see if they can actually prove that he was at the motel. Well, yes. And nothing, too. Is that lady was a wonderful lady and we had a child together and we got along great. We just didn't need to be married. Okay. At that time in my life, I didn't need to be married. And that's just, you know. That's another story. But in your heart of hearts, you know that we have to. We have to clean up our sport. Whether it's, you know, a kid was down at the OTB the other day and he had that horse. It got disqualified at.

Songbird welcome back to the weekend stakes preview presented by naira bets. Bob newman and dave freeman on a labor day. Friday bringing you action from these saturday and sunday. Cards on labor day we can don't forget tracks. Wouldn't normally run on. Mondays will be open this monday for labor day. And of course. It is closing at saratoga and delmar so a lot of stakes action on monday as well. But we're sticking with saturday and sunday. On this week's edition of the weekend stakes preview presented by naira bets and speaking of the del mar debutante. It goes this sunday as race number. Ten where the earth meets served three hundred thousand dollars online grade one event for the two year old fillies going seven furlongs wayne. Lucas and bob baffert tied nine. Wins a piece for the most wins by a trainer in this race wayne. Lukas doesn't have any in. This year's the different dishes bob baffert has to and they both have shots number. Two and number seven grace adler. Yeah and they both look really good. Grace adler seven hundred thousand dollar daughter. Kurland went off at two to five. And look the part last time with the and prod and ada five hundred and fifty thousand dollar daughter of munnings john velazquez across country to ride and both races really strong but was denied by phil d'amato's elm dr who returns in this race too. I think this is a terrific betting. I think you can. You can pick a whole bunch. That are very viable. I have no sense of what the bedding is going to be like in this race. Do you bobby who who is going to be the favourite and what's the number of going to be. Well i think the morning line favorite will end up being elm drive because she won the grey to sorrento last time out beating ada. However i'm going to pick ada on top. She was only beaten ahead by elm drive that day. I don't think she had the greatest starts that afternoon and no disrespect to jockey abelson. Do who's ridden her in. Both of her career starts. You're picking up hall of famer john velazquez and that's going to be an upgrade over most riders out there these days he's not flying out there you know because he just wants to hang out at the beach so i'm gonna take ada to turn the tables on elm drive sunday in the del mar debutante. I think that's reasonable but there a couple other things like am i going to get a decent price at the c. I think you have to get a decent price on at the c. Even though she's undefeated coming into this race her wins in stakes competition. I don't think she faced the toughest fields in the world including a state bread field. She is a cow bread last time out the for her final times have not been overwhelmingly fast and she does draw the inside so there are things that make. It seem like this is going to be a tougher spot for her than what we've seen in the past. But i i'm taking shots at philly who's done nothing wrong in three races. You know it's hard to really cut apart. A runner who's undefeated three for three. I just thought the last is better than you would think because she steadied and still found a way. Maybe the level of competition isn't quite as good. I think more glads dance to. The music is viable in here too. I mean we're all going to look at the baffert horses. They're the most likely winners may be. But i think you can go deeper. And i'm gonna take a price. I'm going to wait and read the board and figure out who i liked. But th there's gonna be someone that offers value here if if you asked me who's going to win the race. Oh go with grace adler but if you ask me who. I'm going to bet it's not going to be either the two baffled horses. Okay so dave going. With number seven grace adler with a gun to his head selection in the del mar debutante. I went with the other baffert trainee number two ada. I would also use number four dance to the music. I was impressed by her maiden victory for mark ladd and able to do. And i like the fact that she's come back to work fast. Going six furlongs since the race. I don't think the extra distance will hurt her. It's just a matter of whether she's not whether she's good enough for not to beat. This field should be fun renewal of the grade. One del mar debutante goes race. Ten this sunday out at delmar. Let's head over to kentucky downs. Where they start their abbreviated meet this coming sunday. And they've got a couple of big stakes races on tap. of course nothing. But turf racing at kentucky downs and the ninth race on the sunday card is a good one. It's the quarter. Million dollar dueling grounds. Oaks these are three year old. Fillies set the goal mile and five sixteenths on the turf. We've got a field of nine. Set dakota post dave and the tepid favourite on the morning line. Is the brad cox trainee adventuring. I like adventuring. I think. Brad cox and godolphin have a pretty good on their hands here. Since they've shifted to turf. The horses run rather well. But i like earth strike best at six to one for mark. Cassie i understand that adventuring and core values are coming out of stakes races but earth strike is coming out of a race that was better than a stakes race. It was just an optional. Claimer at saratoga but i thought he made a big move in that racer. She made a big move in that race. The horses that she ran against her pretty pretty good. I think more distance is going to help her in this race. And i think kind of a funny course might be good for a horse. That looks to me like it's going to need to do it in the final eighth. Final quarter of a mile and there's plenty attract to race at kentucky downs. That is an understatement. And a half my friend when it seems like they're approaching the finish line you the camera angle changes and you realize they've got another eighth of a mile or so it seems like it goes on forever down the stretch at kentucky down so dave likes number nine earth strike and i was going to pick her strike as well but i have one major issue with this philly..

And you know johnny happened. How about johnny Joining the fray. Who does does not ride all that much for jad and i. I thought that that was a you. Know a quizzical or or an interesting sidebar to this That that john velazquez gets involved. So i- i- pipelines gotta look coming into this and It might be another opportunity to get chatted of a square enough price. Absolute courage you mentioned for for shug and stretching out and the course in a part of the story nine furlongs at saratoga continues to be horses on and near the lead that that's a you know an absolute priority You know it. It just seems that the deep closers just don't get there At this distance and up here. And that's been. That's been a long standing scenario. So i i like the fact that absolute courage is probably going to be in the race flow immediately And then on the one other in here that I yeah dirt move. Yep yep and i'm imagining louis. Sayas as Will look to that race. That i am. The law ran in the slop at belmont in june. And you know try to have him. You know that much more forwardly placed it would not it would not stun if the winner out of this the fact that these nice three year because this is a nice group i mean absolute courage was an eight hundred thousand dollar purchase Well not surprise that. Not only is the carlin. And jim dandy gonna produce traverse starters. I won't be surprised if the winner of this if he runs anything you know from fig standpoint Don't be surprised if the winner. Tweet side was the horse. Johnny v was the jockey. Eugene melnyk the owner tweet side was his very first win in there would come back three years later with a shadow john velazquez also aboard. That was in two thousand four two thousand seven. It was active johnny via board. Are you seeing a pattern here. Two thousand ten devil-may-care the jockey. John velazquez about that two thousand thirteen todd wanted again. We're princess of sylmar. Two thousand fourteen stopped charging maria. Both of those horses. Not ridden by john velazquez. Maybe that's the biggest upset. It was heavier. Castellano the hall of famer aboard those two horses and then in two thousand fifteen. Todd's most recent wing came via disqualification carolina under john velazquez. Getting the victory. So of his seven wins in the race. Five have been ridden by johnny v. The other to have your castellano and you say okay. Well that's no surprise. Because his relationship with those two jockeys johnny in particular but heavier and todd had a wonderful run there for many many years that relationship very strong and when you think about a stroll through racing history I just brought you walking through. Todd pletcher history and the coaching club. American oaks is pretty special as well and if he can do it today that it'd be win number eight and it would be really cool to see him pull it off. Or, uh, France go to in a the Japanese campaigner Abandoned by Joel Rosario Ricardo Centanni aboard known agenda. Joel Rosario takes another crack and number eight overtook who's got some past races, including it's known agenda that might make her man make him a contender on his best day. So that's the Belmont field. We'll talk about the other races, uh, in the course of the show, But right now, let's welcome Roger Neubauer from thorough graph to the show. Good morning, Roger. Good morning, J. How are you doing? I'm doing well, sir, Are you all ready for this huge, huge day. Yes, I've been getting ready for a couple days actually had you are correct. This is quite a card and really looking forward to getting into this today and I think the track is going to be much better. I think everybody watched yesterday and that they lose of rain that came down and, uh, but I expect the track to be fast today. They're dry, it dries out pretty quickly. It certainly does. So, uh, yeah, I I would say Thorogood half had a couple of nice scores throughout the weekend before, uh before I forget, not that I ever forget anything. But let me just mention a couple of your your exploits at Gulfstream Park yesterday. 10 40 winner in race eight at a $38 exacta and you scored last week at Churchill delivering a 55 80 exacta. The 91 combination Array six and then last Sunday and raised one of Churchill $25. Winter Nice and Race. Six of $42. Exactly, So you certainly did a little damage for the fans. Yeah, it's been. It's been going from track to track. But Churchill has been pretty good for us, uh, this year, so it's a It's a shorter me. I believe. I think they're only run until the end of June. But It's always It's always a good track for us. Yeah, Yeah, definitely So, And it's a nice full field. So before we get into your picks, Roger, I asked both you and Steve if you might come up with a Belmont memory or two, and you came up with one that you're you finally remember if you can Please tell us your father's Belmont memory. Yeah. So my fondest memory. It's uh um Is of the 2000 and four Belmont and Smarty Jones. Um we were fortunate enough that year to see all of his preparation is, um In Arkansas, the Southwest rebel in the Arkansas Derby and then wasn't at the Derby or the Preakness, but got a chance to go to the Belmont, especially when it was clear it was going to be a Triple Crown. And there was 120,000 people there that day. And that horse. That horse was a rock star. I mean, they had a camera back in this stall, and every every time the camera went on that horse 120,000 people stood up and started cheering. I mean, it was just nuts the entire day, the second he walked on the track to come to the saddling ring. It was just it was an amazing thing to be around. And it was amazing to hear be able to hear a pin drop with 120,000 people around you after they crossed the finish line. That is the quietest I've ever heard a crowd go ever Yeah. And, uh, certainly, Smarty Jones had the Triple Crown on the line, and, uh, Certainly gave it everything he had. Yeah, you know, coming into the stretch, She still had a good read. Nobody was paying attention to anybody behind them. They were just looking at him, So the crowd was just it was mayhem. And it was really just a fun day to be there. The cards. The card was still very good. You know, It's not like it is now with eight grade ones. But card was still very good. It was a fun day to be around. We actually had a horse in an earlier race on the card that day, so that was really nice to And it was just It was a lot of fun and horse that we got to watch, Sort of mature at Oakland Park. And then unfortunately, the they didn't end like we wanted it to. But it was still an amazing experience. Someone I'll never forget. Yeah, so Roger, are we going to start today? Well, we'll start at Belmont, and we're going to do the Met Mile as you mentioned earlier. And the thing we like about this race, we're not against Nick's go, but what we are against our two horses that are going to beat that rather heavily. The 2nd and 3rd favorites. And the first one. We're against his mischievous Alex. Um The one post is not the best post in the world for a mile race at Belmont. But besides that this horse jumped way up to a lifetime Top negative. 4.5 last time out. And we're really expecting this horse to react to this today and at 5 to 2, maybe even 2 to 1. This horse. This horse is a play against as well as the third favorite silver State at 72 Morning line. This one is different. This one is just not fast enough to go with the other The other horses in the race, So the main play here is we're against the the one and the three. Yeah, that was gonna go with that We're going to go with, um three horses. Well, then we can't toss Mexico. He's just too fast. He used to run two negative quarters in his career. Each time that he's bounced a little bit. He's come right back to that number. Now you're throwing something new into it here with the ship overseas, and we'll see. But anyway, we have to use him. But we're we really like Dr Post number 2 92, who ran a negative. 1.5 hasn't had a lot of career races, then really looks to be second started his four year old career sitting on a big A big race. And the last one will uses by my standards who ran a negative to last out. I like courses like this. I don't even don't know what your thoughts are, J. But as I courses that are proven that a mile and an eighth and and further and then they're cutting back to this mile distance, they just sometimes to me seem to have a better foundation in a straight Mylar. But that's just my opinion. Yeah, I agree. Certainly at your favorite track in Oakland Park in that Oakland Mile, just really took to it. That was by my standards. First tried a mile.

We've got a great race and setting new records and doesn't get any better than that, gentlemen. No, it is. It has been beautiful here today, and he's right. Lucien Laurin, Ron Turcotte, The last Trainer jockey combination to go back to back and that was back in the 19 seventies, and it's been a while, but Bob Baffert and Johnny V. Have a tendency to break records wherever they go. The other thing that is remarkable about Bob Baffert not only seven Kentucky Derby wins, but he's done it for seven. Difference owners and that's not to take away from trainers who were private trainers for legendary farms like Talia met with Ben Jones and so on. They were tremendous horseman, but to get to the Derby winner Circle seven times for seven different clients. Over the course of these last 25 years, a remarkable achievement. How about the success of the Santa Anita Derby when it comes to prep races to produce Kentucky Derby winners in recent years? This is a race that Has produced a plethora of winners. Now, Maybe all of those horses didn't win the Santa Anita Derby like Medina Spirit, who was second in that race back on April 3rd this year, But it's a race that has been very, very productive well in in the pre race analysis, A lot of folks had looked at the past performances and said, You know when the When the weather's good on the track is drying fast, California speed seems to dominate this race. But most folks were talking about rock your world who, as you said one this year, Santa Anita Derby and wired wire fashion. He was never a factor. Today, he broke near the middle of the pack and finish in 17th. Instead, it was the Santa Anita Derby runner up Medina Spirit who went right to the front and held on for the win. All right. Jockey John Velazquez on his third Kentucky Derby win in his first competition with Authentic
"We have John Velazquez the hall of Fame Three Time Kentucky Derby winner on the phone now Johnny. Thanks for some time this morning the industry star of the week at the by Stuart Morris Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you for having me. Yeah. Three and ten years I think that's something that's getting overlooked here. animal kingdom always dreaming. authentic. Things did not go as planned when that gate opened on Saturday? Well I tell you. I was expecting that the we're GONNA break a little slow and I? Even said it. Before they raised a couple of his did I did you know? I get in like the position that we had just because being last one indicate normally once you get into gate. kind of like to get a sausage facets of canned really wants to live circuits. So horse is not. Hundred percent spending properly, and You Know Eight, hundred, ten, th there for jumping number good and even. He's not very quick from the gate. So with watching he's prior races and being the last one and go into the I I was back to not. On the other hand I knew he was going to be quick. you know to to get too close to the lead or BMW before we get, we get to the to the turn. So you know I didn't wear so much and I think even if you the way broke, I kinda wane gradually you know going into the lead before we get to the first time. Were you surprised that no one took advantage of the lackluster break and that you were able to clear by the time you've got that I I. Well I. If we look back at the race really there was only one. One speed horse in and teeth the law and I knew he was not wanna go to delete or you know that's not the way they they actually wanted them to you know and listened to Berkeley and and and prior to that you know the just like to suck somebody and so on. And other words Park elope is I thought he probably go to the lead and and I was willing to let him go if you wanted to do obviously when we pass it pass the wire for the first time in and see him and he wasn't going to delete it. So that was my turn you know to. Okay. Let me go ahead and do what Mars you want to do. You always talk to us here on the network about playing you leave the paddock with plans a to Z with a horse like authentic. There's really not much and you know you know he's GonNa break a little slow at least you did he's not going to break that sharp. You're going to be on the lead I'm sure after you watch the Haskell. You. Likely. Did you have some concerns about the mile and a quarter after watching the Haskell? We always have it. You know and and. Talking to by he, he's just like you know what I think I haven't much ready this time know for going on quarter. We always had a question whether he can't go out on any tips like, but you you you bob. You have to carry the source now he goes to putting the pressure. And he says that when you get to the stretch I, want you to to get you let handed ready for this. Okay. Make sure you get you get his attention and I mean to territory worked out. Perfect. You know talking about we planning with we were just rubies. Have dinner like three, nine, five bike and we keep talking about it. Then it's like you'll make sure you haven't left hand to you know get attention and if you look back from the house cold to the Derby, Mike, Never hit him though Mike he just GonNa kick. Showing the weapon and kind of top him this time you know I got the. Price Him and he responded right away i. that was the difference dry. They're actually afterwards Bob said to me if he makes had hidden his left handed in this house. You would never be on him on the Derby because I don't think he would have got off of them. You know what I mean, and that's why they thought. It was that he might not want to go the distance and. He's a little quirky so he kinda gets distracted very very, very easily and he looked he looked like he was GonNa win easy and and the has over. So it kind of you know the other horses going back to him so. If he had, he had a ham handed I think he would have gone on and You would have been in these stories. So I'm glad he did. Now Three Kentucky Derby wins that that is rarefied Air Bob said after the race when he wants six, it never gets old, you feel the same way. Absolutely. You know. They ask me that the obviously when month derby ends like if it gets old you into something else go and retire and something now absolutely that that feeling that you get. The satisfaction you get, it's incredible. There's just no worse due to this drive it you know and I mean if you get up to to be in this kind of thing, Menendez GonNa. Racist It's incredible. It's just no words to describe it. You know. Got To be. Blessed.

Weekend Stakes Preview Presented by NYRA Bets
"The victory ride kicks off the stakes action here at Belmont Park tomorrow afternoon grade three early in the caught has just the feel of five phillies. GOING TO GO Six and a half furlongs as for the three year old's warning line favors one francs. Rock Cat Hall of Famer Bill Will Give Fellow Hall of Famer John Velazquez a leg up and this phillies done very little wrong on her career. She's three for seven. With four second-place finishes ran second in a couple of graded stakes, including the grade one spin away up at Saratoga last year last seen winning a third level allowance optional claimer. She uses stakes. Winner took the any limit kick off three year old season three starts back. and. Probably the only reason that this race isn't later in the card is that it's a five Horsfield and Franks? Rakhat is three to five on the morning line, and she may be the the loan speed in race, so she's going to be tough to beat at three to five, but that's a pretty short price, considering there some pretty good up and coming phillies near now I think number four center. I'll I'm going to give her another shot for. For Chad Brown and Joel Rosario Sheila Great Getting Her Maiden Win Gulfstream Park, when bet down to three to five at the end of March then came back in a tough allowance race at Churchill downs where she was really over bet, she was three to five that day against another very impressive maiden winner of this one for Steve Asmussen in casual casual ran a great race that day center I'll had all sorts of problems. She didn't break that well. She had trouble during the race, and she was just really never in at any point. I think it's a racy can kind of draw a line through? If she runs closer to the way she did and her debut. I think she's the one that could give Franks rock cat. The biggest problem Franks rocket will probably get the lead I would think Rosario would have center I'll sitting justin behind her and seeing if they can outgun into the line going six and a half furlongs. With you I'm going to take a shot with center. Rile planner. If? When I plan! Early took five tomorrow I will use both Franks rocket and center, but I'll tell you what I think. You can make a case also for up in smoke was undefeated and sprints. She's four five and a career. Lone blemish came when George Weaver tries to stretch her out Hollywood wildcat. Go at Gulfstream Park. She's raced exclusively of Gulfstream, in fact, steady diet once. Once a month February march April may June now. She gets a race in July. Here over Big Sandy, she wanted the game face overboard last time out for weaver Rod Ortiz Junior. Who wrote her in her debut against fellow Florida breads down at Gulfstream Park's in the climb back aboard for the first time. Since that day looks, you'll need a little help up front if Franks, rockets able to set an easy pace I. She's going to be very very tough. I think Senator I'll be the first one to come calling. Those are the two up in smoke. If you're looking to three deep, I don't think you need to center for Bobby and I race number three goes as the great three six and a half for a long victory ride go to the end of the card. Eleven race card like I said earlier, and the final four races make up an all stakes pick four, and it starts in reasoning with the greed three poker. Flat Mile on the turf for many years. This was the fourth of July staple. On the naira calendar here it is now as part of a super five stakes card. In, the poker though. On the widener, so they come out of that shoot. On the clubhouse turn we get a field of eight entered for the turf as a main track. Only it's all relevant with the way. The weather's been here. I would imagine you know there's supposed to be some rain. We're recording the show Friday afternoon supposed to be some rains rather day on Friday and into the evening. I can't imagine it enough to take this off the turf, so let's say it will be a field of eight.

Jose Ortiz Interview - October
"Welcoming Jose Ortiz who is a native of Puerto Rico and his one more than nineteen hundred races in what has been just a a stellar career and that career still going strong and he's with me now here on H. R. N. Jose Good Morning My friend Mike give having yeah. Thanks for taking a little time. I know you're a busy working horses. This morning. Never ends does it does not if you want to be the best which right now you certainly are my friend Brendan. You know it's interesting. I mentioned being a native of Puerto Rico one of the jockeys who mentored you when you came here and one of the people that you looked up to is his hall of Famer Johnny Velazquez who last week set the record for most greatest stakes victories by jockey in the history of the sport and that has to make you very proud. I know that yeah yeah we are happy about it and it keeps going throwing you know hopefully he can give winning some more on winning out much again until you know until heater dyers what makes him so good then you got a lot of these. Atlanta for the sport and I think that having taken to the next level where he's been for awhile you know yeah he certainly he's been doing it for a long time and still doing it at a very high level. How many great stakes victories are you behind him now. I don't know I have made the way to go yeah one day well that win yesterday and the Phoenix was impressive. This is a horse. You've you've been on before you knew him. You get back aboard him yesterday and he's able to hold off Whitmore who was putting in that late run. Take me through the race Jose. Well we broke. We broke very good. expect expecting a much faster pace but they did in in came out of five dollars. I thought they would and I was able to be closer than I than I thought. I was going in two weeks so I think that well We have a very pain trip when I ask him to. Well what they're for me the whole time. You know he's a horse worse by intimacy if that when you were riding him last year and even this year at Saratoga he was trained by Chad Brown now he's trained by Steve Asmussen. Ah when you were riding him before he was always knocking on the door but he couldn't quite get past horses like promises fulfilled you yesterday you beat him and everybody everybody else. Is there a difference. Did you feel something different now with engage than you did last year. He always been a ah very nice or worse. I think some more mature before others on. I think he'd take a while but I think he finally figured out you know. Did you know that Moore was gaining on your yesterday. I didn't knew what Whitmore Kabaya fell somebody coming out. You can tell yeah I could yeah. Did you know you had enough left in the tank. He very game he always has been and I knew what GonNa try but you know something this all horrors you know he's just turned four so there's all live orders season and they are very good. You know they they come in. They coming at you like wait Marino. He's very nice or you know that win. In the Phoenix was part of a Multi Win Day on opening day of Keeneland then you you've had several days in your career where you've won multiple races like that. I asked you what makes John Velazquez so good. What makes Jose Ortiz so good. I don't let somebody out of that. Answer that question. I guess right to be myself on gave that horses the best chance to win but you also worked very hard I mentioned you're out working in horses this morning. I know you're being humble and and that's what's part of makes you part of. What makes you so good but Jose you work your tail off and put me the in in the saddle with you for minute if you will if I can use that term take me through like your routine in your approach to riding races. How do you get ready to go out there. Every day and ride was everything star on the when the overnight comes up so I have to see we shorts on on quantum there I go the R F and and they got the raises and I put him whatever I think they should be and you know I have to talk to a trainers on and follow their their instructions but at the same time I want to I want her to be relax and that's that's what I try to be happy and I think they control and relaxed. We'll give you a running the end of it yeah you know. Johnny will always tell tell me about his different plans that he has going into the starting gate the plan a plan b the Plan C. and you hope you don't have to get any further than that but once the gates open you can listen to the trainers instructions all day long but once the gates open things can change quickly right very quickly. What do you you do at that point. Do you say Oh my God. I gotTa follow his instructions or do you say I just gotTa. Let my instincts takeover in and try to ride this race the way it needs to be ridden now so you've got to let your instincts they over because it's very tough to execute a plan when their plan doesn't work from from the gate you know. Yep You gotta change everything so I think you just gotTa Julia uh-huh. Yeah everything you could do everything changes in and you just have to adjust and that's why I've always said you know jockeys in terms of there's always that debate are jockeys true athletes athletes and I think you know I've said for years but pound for pound jockeys the most gifted athletes that we find in all sports and I have no doubt about it and you're certainly right there Jose. Let's talk about the horses that you're going to be aboard today. You're in all of the great stakes races at keeneland which is to be expected matter of fact. Thank you might be riding every single race at keeneland today. nice to be in demand extravagant. Kid is a horse. You're going to be aboard in the WOODFORD stakes. That's is the first greatest stakes today. What can you tell me about. Extravagant kid very nice hard. I had the opportunity to ride him. One time before and we won he's doing very good very fox. Horse doesn't need to be on the late which is very helpful full on way like junkets. Today we think is very life so right to win all right and then in the next race in the TC a talked to me and I think I'm saying that name correctly but talk to me the horse. You're going to be aboard there. You've been aboard her. The the last two starts second last time out in the Press Kyle downes master stakes on September sixteenth. Tell me a little bit about her. It's very nice to write very easy last time. She has run very very very good. we are expecting seeming to or better than last two times. I think she got shut all right and then the first lady turn our attention there you go to the first lady stakes miss bad behavior for Richard. Balta says the Horse Year aboard. What do you know about her. I won on her Kentucky Down She got some sleep but he's he's also stayed on the race so let's see how they're they're in writing about her because she he doesn't need elite. Also g come come on. We gotta go pole so let a break and make sure shade in a winning position I during your yeah how much different is writing this keeneland turf of course then of course like Kentucky Downs Kentucky down says the undulating up and down configuration. How much different is it run getting more like we do every day. You know saying Kinda you you know over same thing by Kentucky different. Go Up and down left right so I think in Kentucky and it's all about the horse like it you WanNa be okay. It doesn't like nothing you can do about like well. Let's hope that this bad behavior likes the keeneland turf course later today in the classroom breeders futurity Max Field for Brendon. Walsh is the second time that Brendan will give you a leg up in a greatest stakes today. Tell me about Max field. You went on him last time out to very nice coat a win first time out very nicely actually that day a he was a speed favor drug. Nobody was coming from behind and he did which is very impressive to me so I think we have something here. We got very nice coats so hopefully put it together and stay undefeated talk to for to all right and the last one admission office This is a horse who you road last year but haven't been on them for the last four starts you get back aboard admission office and that is in the the shad while Turf Mile. Tell me about him. What you remember about writing him before is on very cool hope to ride very easy going on to be honest? I love him. I think we had a huge show the winds along really how come because I think he's is a nice source if their truck come from behind and here something other threats you about to rush these sorts. BEC- they're stretchy short here. I wouldn't have to we go. We got our loan stretching so I think it was the drug I mean he. He did alright at one eight zero. He don't good with Y'all yup so he's got big right now. You can tell what what makes Jose Jose Ortiz so good. He knows every race that these horses have run before he gets aboard and he did indeed win. Three starts back at Keeneland in the spring which Joel Rosario Dario Award winning an allowance race getting up by neck and admission office the Horses Jose will be aboard in today's Shell Turf Mile Jose. I know it's a busy morning. I know you've got horses assist works. I won't keep you thank you so much for spending a little time. Congrats on all your success. My friend and I'll look forward to catching up with us. We make our way to Santa Anita in about a month. Mike thank you.
