"Julie you said something fascinating there that the men didn't know each other So it's kind of hard when you say I mean again you've been all over the January 6th case And without you I mean it without you forget if the fake news would have dominated You have done more to open people's eyes here But regarding this case how can it be a plot started with the men if the men didn't know each other before the source tied them all together Kind of confusing though It really isn't It was fascinating Dan to listen to this trial And I have several pieces dating back to last fall talking about the entrapment case But the fact that in fact at one point the FBI handler commends the main informant who by the way was paid at least $60,000 for putting this group together and helping to execute this slot commend him at one point saying look at you bringing people together In fact by August of 2020 this ban that they stitched together wanted to break up because one guy didn't like this guy didn't trust that guy You have one guy who is from Delaware You've got a guy from Michigan a couple of guys from Michigan And so they urged their FBI informants No you've got to keep this group together We need to keep moving forward Then they introduced another undercover agent who was an explosives expert they said who brought a video to show the man to get them all gender how they could blow up a bridge by Whitmer's house the video had been produced by the FBI There was a single angle of this plot that did not have the FBI's fingerprints all over us and God bless us during western Michigan They saw right through it not a single conviction complete humiliation for this Justice Department and FBI for what they did to these innocent men and quite frankly did to the country and to Trump's presidential campaign in the home stretch of the 2020 election

"Com. Sarah, how are you doing? What do you got planned for Thanksgiving? I'm going to see the parents and watch a lot of football, excited for that, you know, I've been watching more football here, obviously, over these last three weeks or so, getting back into it, remembering how everything works with baseball over so that will continue on Thanksgiving Day for sure. All right, so before we play the numbers game, give me a deal that's happened so far in this off season that you really like in terms of the player or the match for the team or the value of the deal, you can take it any way you want. I think it's got to be the Eduardo Rodriguez deal. I mean, I remember you when he pitched on some baseball towards the end of the year. You talking about that graphic, I love so much with the comparison of his expected ERA and actual ERA in the 2021 season. He had a three 50 expected ERA to go along with that four 74 ERA and the point there is that he pitched a lot better than he ended up sort of getting credit for. And the defense behind him may have led him down whatever else, but the quality of contact that he allowed was far better than the results showed. And I think that just shows what we all sort of expect out of him and have seen in his career that there's a lot of potential there. So I love what the tigers are doing. It's really fun to see a team that hasn't been competitive in a few years here making a handful of different signings and trades and I really like that one for them. You know, that's going to be an interesting test of the field versus analytics because I think you and I are an agreement that the analytics show that you can make a case that he's one of the 15 or 20 best pictures in baseball from 2021. But you and I also have enormous respect for Alex Cora, the manager of the Red Sox. We talked about what a great feeling has for players. And I don't know how much, you know, he input he had directly, but between he and the coaching staff and the front office, they didn't really try to compete with him, which kind of tells me something about sort of what they feel about paying him like an ace might be. Definitely, it's interesting. I mean, I think that for me, what happened with him, especially in 2021, really comes down to that defense behind him. And we know that the Red Sox did not have a great defense, not that the tigers defense was particularly spectacular in 2021, but let's Tucker barnhart and everybody else. They seem to be building towards being a more competitive team. So I do think that it's almost those elements that were beyond his control, but it is interesting because as you're saying, the Red Sox know better than anybody. And the fact that they weren't out there making this kind of offer means that maybe they have a different understanding of the same numbers that you and I are looking at and have a different sort of projection of him moving forward. You know, it would be fun just to almost like a science experiment if in fact the answer is one of the tigers wind up landing Carlos Correa. And then the tigers also traded for mat Chapman. How different he would be with that left side of the infield versus what he had with the Red Sox. But anyway, I'm yeah. Let's play the numbers game. Number three so number three is 5. So yesterday, the comeback player of the years were announced in both leaf we had three Mancini in the American League and Buster Posey, who is now retired and the national league. So I was really curious about how many guys have one comeback player of the year in the year that they retired. So whether it happened before or after the awards announcement, you know, we won't get into those specifics. But one in their final year of the career. So the MLB award has existed since 2005, but prior to that, there's also the sporting news award, which began in 1965. So if we look at sporting news from 65 to four MLB from 2005 until the present bus or posey, Mariano Rivera in 2013, Darren Dalton in 1997, John Tudor in 1990 and Lou Brock in 1979, or your 5 players retire after winning comeback player of the year. So pretty fun award to be winning on your way out. And there were so many great jokes on Twitter last night of it being come back player with a space between coming back as in, please come back Buster Posey, which was also very funny to say. Number two number two is 100. So I know this deal was last week, but Noah syndergaard heading over to the angels leads to a really fun note with him and Shohei Ohtani. I mean, Shohei Ohtani is in a class of his own as a pitcher who hits we know that unanimous MVP everything else. But before shohei Otani before we were lucky enough to get to witness what he did, Noah cinder, art was one of these guys in the more Madison Bumgarner category of pitchers who hit who aren't also unanimous MVPs with the bat and Noah syndergaard and shohei Otani are the only pitchers under sakas tracking to throw a hundred mile an hour fastball and hit a home run with a hundred plus mile in our exit velocity in the same game. So just to really fun comparison there, I know that cinder Ed's not exactly going to get a chance to do that in an angel's uniform, but I wonder what the dugout conversations might be about hitting tips 'cause we know those pitchers love to talk about it, even if he's now in the American League because there will be a DH. Number one. Number one is two. So again, I know we had awards, but I still have these awards on my mind. And I think this is one of the coolest notes and Vladimir guru, junior had such an amazing season. No question, than unanimous MVP I completely agree with that. But, you know, I want to make sure that vlog gets his due for the season he had. And I just thought this was such an incredible thing. So he finished second for lmb. His father, of course, one AL MVP in 2004. They're the first father son duo to both finish top two in their careers for any bbw player award. So MVP Siam rookie there we can mix and match doesn't matter doesn't have to be the same award. They are the first father son duo to both finish top to at some point in their careers for one of those awards. And I think that's really important because we talk about father some things all the time. And there are a lot of fun father son duos in baseball history, but this is the first one where it feels like we have a potential for the youngster to also end up Hall of Famer and his father, of course, already was. So, you know, we talk about others as Barry and Bobby bonzer, the Griff he's the fielders, but nobody is really done what the guerreros have now already done. Before I ask you about Stephen Matt, who, according to Jill Sherman, is likely to get a deal before we get to the December 1st deadline with the expiration of the collective Barney agreement. As you were talking about training Mancini, I was thinking about this. He's going to be a fascinating and I'm not looking for your response on this. This is just me riffing. He's going to be an interesting test as well on just how bloodless the Orioles tanking is. Because he's scheduled to make through arbitration, 7.2 million. He's a first baseman. Jesse Rogers and I were just talking about how the first base market is one that during the winter time they dropped. You know, we've seen home run champs who were first baseman non tendered. Trey Mancini's owed $7.2 million..

"What i think we had the hatred from the fact that we lost and eighty four guest to cubs. We're right they're not gonna have to door after eighty three after david took over and doc was gonna win rookie of the year and i think eighty five when we lost to the cardinals. That's where i hate your came from because we didn't have love for the car and we could not stand the car knows you know. And it was a big rivalry between us and them Because they were a team that didn't have powered. But they had speech like ozzie. Smith tommy her best calment willie mcgee. We love willy. Willy was the nicest guy so we we kinda left him but the rest of the rest of them. We just really couldn't stand and we built that up. You know after losing to them and eighty five. And i just remember seeing some of the scenery of that in that in that film Us losing in nineteen eighty five walking out of that dugout in knowing that we lost to the car and you know coming back into spring training. We just build up inside of us that we just didn't like these teams and we just needed to. We need we just needed to stone. Put our foot on top of them and like you said we you know. We got tired of teams. Don't stomping on us and it was. We wasn't gonna let you put your foot in mouth anymore. We were gonna put off foot in your mouth and that's what it came back to eighty six man. We have so many guys that love the fight you know and that was far too baseball back. Then if you got drilled in situations than we feel like you know you should begin drilled man. We don't fight. Man was know just kind of group of guys we had. It had nothing to do. Just lenny it had to do with the whole group of guys. Kevin mitchell kevin. Mitchell was bad if we got an middle of fighter. Mitch will be where in metro metro would be somewhere trying to kill somebody you know. And that's just that's just what it was a part of our team. You know we. We didn't like the other teams. Because i like. I said before they thought we were thinking we were hostage up but in reality was guys we were really good. You know that year and we. We started off slow and everybody thought well. Yeah like they don't really have a great season and then we just took off and we just ran away with the national league decent. We just knew at that time that we had that in front of us and we have more in front of us wants. We got into the playoffs. Don't talk about that. That eight four eighty five season What was it that you guys were missing in. Eighty four and eighty five That you guys figured out in eighty six that got you guys over Eighty four. We missed a guy like harder in the lineup. Catcher like say we had a we fitzgerald catcher. And but he was good catcher but he wasn't a guy that we needed like in. We need more of a guy in office aside to with a right hand bat. I think that's what we were missing a big right hand bat in the lineup that was threat and eighty four and we lost to the cubs. I think only way to 'cause meet us in eighty. Four rick sutcliffe came over with sixteen one. Astor only way they beat us. You know we had them if we if it wasn't for him coming over and going sixteen in one for them we would have wanted to visit. I think a lot of people don't understand we will win in ninety two ninety five games a year. you know Starting from the eighty four. I believe and then eighty five. We came in. We fell short against car knows They just had a better run. I think the cardinals had a better run than we did down the stretch. And i think we we realized that we blew a lot of games that we should have one and we would have been in first place and we put ourselves in a situation where we had to go into saint louis and we had to go to had the sweep down and we did and we wanted to i to believe but we did. We lost last game. i think it was just. It was just a heartbreaking us in and we just knew coming back into the eighty six spring training there was a fresh look about us a fresh attitude about all of us because we had all the pieces in place and now it's time you know to put it together. It was no more time to talk about. It was a time to actually. Just go out. And do it. And i think i think what happened in eighty six team was we knew how to come back and a lot of games. We can be down in the other team building high five and like won a game. It's like this is only the only the fourth inning you are. They kidding kidding us. And we're just like let's just turn it on him guys in and we would just turn it on. We just knew how to come back. And i think that's what magical was about their team. It wasn't just like when we came back in the playoffs. We we had to come back in in the playoffs. All time against the astros we had to come back against ryan knepper. We had to come back against those guys. They were up. We had to come back and we had a group of guys who knew how to come back in eighty six. And i think that's really what got us over the hump. I you know what your instincts i think. We're right on the eighty five cardinals. I i was working a little paper in illinois and the cardinals were one of the teams that we covered and There were some guys on the team. That weren't so nice. I don't if you knew them or you just hated them by instinct. But i mean you know vince. Coleman john tudor. they weren't such nice guide so maybe had good instincts there. At least that's what i got out of it anyway Talking about the comebacks though. I mean incredible houston What what's your recollection of houston in. Also boston coming back and winning against boston houston. It's it felt like to me that Watching the thirty for thirty two guys that team that just felt that scott was not going to be beaten for whatever reason i guess you felt he was cheating whenever was he was not really beatable. And you need to win that game. Six which is one of the greatest games of all time and then of course the game. Six of the world series is the most remembered game of all time and Just incredible. I mean i think keets said he was in the davies office. You say given up but he didn't want to be part of these. See the celebration of the red sox on your field. Where where were you at that time. Were you watching it..

"If ever get any better than that. Ray we talk about. You mentioned playing hurt a lot on the bulk of there are a lot of moments that we think back. Some of the highlights of you are bowling over opposing catchers. I think you did it. Ma think he did it. Multiple times. Against darren dalton. One of them where you knocked the ball out and it was. It was a walk off. Run i think. And i remember the video of you of you. Pop back up in the air with a fist. Pump was the winning run. How many times did you do that. And was that kind of like a football mentality in you. Because i know you've played football before your professional baseball career started. But i wanna situation you turn a bad situation to a great situation where a lot of people don't realize i ran through the third base. I thought the ball was hit. The right field not realizing there was the second basement. And i think it was nikki. More denia was that made the play. So as i'm coming around thursdays i'm picking up all becoming from right phil. Once i looked up i saw the ball but by that time is stopping back in a rundown or just keep going. I guess say. I made the right decision to keep going right. It's funny i was gonna ask what kind of what kind of high school football player. Ray lankford was in modesto california where. Qb running back already back. So did you have any dreams of being. You know the next barry sanders or billy sam's back in high school and stuff out. I want to play football and try to play football professional. I wanted to but you guys were getting bigger and faster you know. Let me just take the baseball with my safer sport and then the road to the big leagues you gotta even though you're top prospect you gotta of pay your dues. It's not a given that you're gonna make it right. I mean is there that pressure not a lot of people. Think when you get drafted and you go right to the major leagues but no you in a minor league you on that bus traveling to bus but seventeen hours with no eight. You know you got to put your time. A lot of people think you just go right to the big leagues. that's i mean there's as a low percentage of guys getting drafted directly to the major leagues. They've most of them have spent some time in the minor league and it doesn't again just just a matter. How much time on been there so. My goal was trying to say as long as possible one of those stable. I got drafted. I started every game from rookie ball. Knocker when i got drafted into drew after johnson tennessee. Eight ball springville aa aaa. I started every game. I didn't i didn't matter. Came out of the game late in the game. You know when the game was blown out right. But i started every game. Nothing was i was trying to get to the big leagues way to get to the basically to play or what i did. I played every game. And who had the influences along the way and we always hear about george kissel would he have been somebody you were in contact with in at any point did even a guy like lou brock. Who was much older. Have a chance to kind of chime in on your game and mentor you at all. Well coming up through the minor leagues got to deal with Can't them in has savage those guys. Before i got to the major leagues so i got all those guys and i was in the minor league Once i got to the major leagues you get the bills. He'll talk with lou. Brock bob and stand the man rush shady. All these guys played a huge part in my career because they always gave me great advice. You know. just go out have fun. Don't worry about anything. I can't tell you i can't tell you what i would say. I can't say that already. But everybody know bob you know. Cut the but All these guys mad. They played a. He was part of my career of his concert advice. There's a young guy in the basically you know you're going to go up and down. I think the thing is is knowing how to deal with when you tau you know where things are going great. You don't need nobody to you know you plan well in home runs you still invasive but we. You're not doing well. Guess what you need advice. That's when you need somebody to help pick a. Hey it's going to be okay. Just keke working keep grinding. Everything will work out. You know. I think of a contemporary like a brian jordan. I can picture ron gant. We had the star-studded outfield. Who guys you still keep in touch with. I haven't been talked to ron o'brien jordan. Nice touch the one with with myself. And brian joined ron gant. You know we push one another in a good way. We don't want otherwise. We are always brighter. Do good again vice versa. You know we we just push one another like come on guys. Let's do it so if i wanted to. The planes struck out running and brian. I got don't worry about it. But i got this little thing. So that's not we were we were. We was an outfielder. We talked all the time. We push one another motivate one another. And that's what you have to have. I don't know how to guys are today with outfielders and all that stuff but that was monday we did. We talk about the game. You'd have to spend the whole night talking about it but you you you had a conversation have been how to pitchers pitching is trying to get you out. Were they doing situations ray. You may remember. I remember when i was coming up and he will go to report. Jon tutor. Say hey don't worry about the scouting report. I wanted to play this guy this way and that way and if it doesn't work out i take i take full responsibility. You know. i'm a young guy. That's john tudor. fan moving. he's lift. I don't care what the scouting report says. I want you to move in this direction. You know messes up. I take full responsibility while okay sure. Yeah ray you mentioned the two thousand and four club. You came back to the team for a second stint with the club. Did it hurt in two thousand and one zero to get dealt to san diego in the middle of a run in a one. The cardinals were again destined for the playoffs with was. Was that a disappointment for you. At the time in two thousand one it was you know it was the fans the fans always been so great to me in my family so the senate it was tough fan. I think i think you've got to a situation where you and i was night. I and at that time. I just i just i just need. I just need a fresh start. You know. I just have to get out of there. Because there's too much tension and austin that's what you know with both of you know. They got woody way of he did a great job for they have to come back for four years to finish up my career so it all worked out and you saw the beginning of albert in two thousand and one coming out of spring training and then you come back and four and at that point. He's an established star. Give us your view. Early at larussa told the story during spring training. That maguire said. Hey if you don't keep this kid on the big league roster you're an idiot he said i want to remind you ever and like so basically and spring training. Everybody said you have to keep this kid. Although of bobby bonilla doesn't get injured. I'm not convinced. He's on that opening day roster in colorado. I'll tell you what yeah. They need to keep them. He was having a great spring training. But it was one of those guys. Like why not gonna laugh..

Debate pox, narrowly unseeded validated by some 860 votes two years ago, the district spans a heavily agricultural region that's majority Latino, with registered Democrats outnumbering Republicans. On Tuesday Valid Dio tied cocks to Liberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while Cox awkwardly linked his opponent to President Trump. Congressman. Sorry, Donald. It's my time on the four. Okay, just like Donald Trump, Donald and David Show right some issues, the candidates agreed on like the importance of wearing masks to help slow the spread of the Corona virus, and that climate change is real. But both avoided taking a strong position one way or the other on Trump's wall along the US Mexico border. Here's Cox being pushed to clarify his answer about the world. So I take that as a no. On the border. Well served. Jim, Is that your what? Your question about a border wall? If one thing is that if you have comprehensive immigration in place I don't need a border wall. One of the moderators confronted Val Audio about an employee who lost part of his arm while working on his dairy farm, which valid, Eo said was out of his control with that employee. It was a tragic accident, and we're truly sorry for what happened in that gentleman. But as a member of Congress, I legally had no right to be there. Running that business and being a part of the day to day operations of 21st district is one of the poorest in the state. Cox portrayed new technology and greater access to broadband as a path to more jobs here in the future, making these key investments that pay off with regard to economic returns. Social environmental returns. Environmental times That's win win win across the Moor Outside groups have spent millions of dollars on the race. It's currently considered a tasa by non partisan political analysts for the California report. I'm Alex Hall in Fresno with just 12 days until election day, and because of the pandemic, most people are expected to vote by mail. All registered voters in the state have been sent mail in ballots. But what about people who have lost their homes to wildfires? How did they vote? Here's reporter Isabella Bloom. Shawn. But you really just moved to Santa Rosa from Oregon as the pandemic hit in March, And then came the glass fire. Crazy crazy that happened so quickly to picture really said in 20 minutes, he went from feeling like the fire was way over the hill. Running for his life. I saw the flames coming over the hills and the wind was whipping like you know, when you have a pre heated oven to 500 degrees, and you open it with your face right in front of it. That was the feeling And so he fled and his home burned to the ground. How's about a week before the state started sending out vote by mail ballots and so picture really called the post office to find out how to get hiss. We reached out to the post office and said, Hey, you know, how do we get our mail and what's the protocol and they seemed pretty flustered. Post office said it would forward his mail. What picture really didn't realize is that by law, it couldn't forward his ballot. My main concern is the voters who have been displaced. To make sure that they can get their ballot. John Tudor is the Napa County registrar of voters, he says. Although the post office can't forward, a valid voters can go pick it up. The simple solution request a replacement ballot. Twitter says it's easy a legitimate reason for voting. A second ballot is I left it at home. My dog ate it. The cat urinated on it. Any one of those is good. And if you're thinking, wait That seems right for voter fraud. We're keeping track. You can't go more than one. Kathy Darling Alan is the Shasta County registrar of voters, And she explains why the replacement ballot is completely safe. We have an audit trail that tracks each individual fellas. That's issues and so when we issue a second about that first ballot is avoided because of the wildfires, Chester County is taking an additional step. A week before the election. They plan to go through their voter history files to see who hasn't voted and call them to let them know how to vote. As for Sean Picture, really the man who lost his home in Santa Rosa Looking around at my life and what I have now it's you know, I have a backpack of clothes and A picture of my my dog that has passed away and that's it. But instead of feeling discouraged, he says he feels even more compelled to vote. So what else do I have? What? I have my voice. And I have things that I care about, and I want to express that for the California report. I'm Isabella Bloom and Isabella reports that for the first time, both Napa and Sonoma County registrars websites have added sections for disaster impacted voters with information for voters who have lost their homes..

"You know looking at what could happen with some of these teams when we come back Whether it be baseball ops people whether it be the minor leagues or could it be high priced players on the move If and when baseball comes back what do you think happens with dumping salary if you can find a taker? And Will there be takers. Because of the financial landscape a right now being known boy you know you bring up a great point on the sudden Dan. How about those teams? That were taking their looking. Kind of smart aren't they? They're they're they're not on the hook for you. Know I'm Baltimore's the world right then and on the huge salaries because they've got their payrolls fifty sixty million whatever it is and you know again. They picked up their money through revenue sharing through MLB advanced media that it staff and the non baseball revenues. So you know. There's an incentive for more teens potentially tank but the question you hit on it is who are the buyers who which which entered the organization. Right now is going to take on a non aeronautical contract or Kris Bryant contract in the middle of all this other stuff that's going on. I just I can't see who's going to be buyers I I don't see it either. And that's the biggest problem is that teams had say normally sure we we'd love to do business with your Great High priced players that we could add on our normal payroll but at this point in time. I just don't see it Brian. I really don't not the guy that's gonNA obviously talked about. And he's got this out right in a couple of years and I say well you know it wouldn't be a long term commitment because aaronow opt out of his deal. We don't know what the free market's going to look like but I'll tell you guys you're going to be free agents. At the end of this year they got to be really really nervous because Major League baseball is likely going to have to pay more than salaries this year to get a deal done with the players association then they want to pay cartons have to give. It's GonNa hurt them. And where are they going to get that money back? They're going to spend less on free agents this winter. And they're going to squeeze the guys that are arbitration-eligible and that's not a purity of a negative thing. It's just you know they're gonNa try to save money where they can save money. Cardinals Hall of fame is come and gone at least the announcement of that. Twenty Twenty Hall of fame. Bill White is now selected to the cardinals hall of fame. The Fan vote went to John Tudor and Tommy her. What did you take away from this year's ballot? Well I think it was great. They bill white that in it was he was a guy that we discussed for a long time. A great Cardinal First Baseman In successes naturally president is an executive. But a guy who doesn't like the limelight and you know part of the question. Was You know this this Bill White WanNa be recognized finally got the point where it dining? His numbers are so good his contribution was so great he needs to be in this hall of fame and it was great to see him selected for that John Tudor Guy who you franchisee. Ra leader win percents over seven hundred you know is a huge huge factor in eighty five. Continue to pitch wilentz. Bad Kings wasn't with the team that long but yet you know a Guy. Who's obviously Tommy her every time we and I. I hope I'm not out school saying this but every time we get together talk. How widely talked about him being as rock how. He's clutch player. Never made mental mistakes and he was a guy that his numbers didn't knock you over but he was there for three Carl Championship teams including World Series. But the disappointing thing. Is that Keith Hernandez who's been on the ballot? Seven years now in passed over time didn't get in and you know. Everybody understands that he had the drug issue into trade and a lot of people who who weren't watching baseball in the in the seventies think of him as a as a Newark Mayor. The Guy who was on Seinfeld the guy who's on doing the mets bark asked but he was a great cardio for ten years and I just hope that then taking nothing away from Tommy. Her but or in John Tudor but when we look at candidates we compare them. You know you only get to votes you gotta look at the Guide and say okay. How do they stack up? And I just think Keith Hernandez it's time to get past the problems of the past. I'll tell you that if anybody is upset about or had reason to be upset about what Ethan entered is it was widely like he's a manager teams. General had a trading away and attune them buried the hatchet saying publicly. I believe creature Anderson Hall of fame. So whatever grudges. We might have spence about Keith Hernandez if white. Here's Greg Hatchet. We need to do that to you. You actually had a poll up on your website. The Cardinal Nation DOT COM and give us a little insight into how many people voted in and the direction as to why they voted one way or another with Keith. Really curious why Hernandez got turned down so I put up a poll. After the results were announced in Iran for a day it was like I think nine hundred ten people voted so it's pretty good sample size and I said it's great basic question. I said. Hey what's the single biggest factor why you didn't vote Keith? Hernandez the cardinals hall of fame was it the drug use and trade or was it the fact that he was you know a key part of the pond scum mets and the vote was forty six percent on the drug trade and fifty four percent on the fact that he was with the mets. The first part I get I mean he's guilty as charged. He used drugs. Keep though was died in the Pittsburgh drug trial. He admitted he took his penalties And he got traded and that was a bad episode in the cardinals. Lost a great player. But you know it happened thirty five years ago and like I said why did he did Hatchet? Do that on the midst parents dumping thing. Yeah he was a great player for the cardinals and he continued to be a great player for the mets. In while it was his fault he got traded. It wasn't his fault. He got traded to the mets when they start to have when their farm system started to produce good players and it was tough for the courtesy. Get their fans to see the cardinals. Get their nose. -rupt and Keith Hernandez seven more years while he helped them win but the reality is this guy. His job was a win baseball games. And yeah some of those gains weren't gets the cardinals but it wasn't a score. We got traded to the mets. And I think we need to separate what he did is cardinal versus what he did as a met. If you look around baseball there are a lot of guys who played for multiple teams. Who have been recognized. Nolan Ryan is in three Holds a fake. Three different holds a pain. Angels Astros Rangers. There's a dozen guys who've been on recognized by two team so I think it's okay. We can hate the gum disliked. The mets dislike everything that Hernandez did but still recommended the.

"Ben Always good is with you. How are things there are some chiefs players who might need to call Anderson Water Keti after some of the parade they stole from the Blue's right? We got a call him out. They got down there Off Their floats and walked around that that has to be the way it's done. I mean when people saw how how awesome the Blues Parade was that Interaction Action. I think the I don't know that the chiefs said Hey. We're going to do that because of the blues but that is the way to do a parade but yeah a Lotta bought a beer drinking in public lot of a lot of shot. Gunning Travis Chelsea I think is probably still drunk so you know if you if you have a night that gets out of control a little too crazy will you know the guys to call. Sto Criminal Defense Dot Com. They probably should have been there and they would've had plenty of clients I remember talking about that with Al macinnis about the parade and I saw him probably two weeks afterwards. In from my time with doing the blues have gotten to know all very well and I said you know. What did you take away from this great run and all that stuff and he said man the parade he said that is now the gold standard of how parade rate should be done with a city and with their fans and he said it was so spontaneous with our players he said I thought it was awesome? It was the best parade I've ever been to. It was fun to watch portray Angelo. Get you know because he was up on the Budweiser wagon like he had triplets. He didn't know that he was riding the wagon. He was trying to figure out what to do. And he's eventually just said forget it and he just gets down. He was barely early on thing and everybody I think kind of followed his lead so yeah cool moment happy for Kansas City I had a hard time kind of going full chiefs bandwagon. Just because of the the way that Clark Hunt voted. I'm it's hard to forget that I know he since said he didn't want the rams to leave but hard to not be happy for Andy. Reid not be happy for for Pat Mahomes Hard to not be happy. Happy forget like spags. WHO's a two time superbowl champion as defensive coordinator? Didn't work out for him. Here with the Rams but nice to see him bounce back I wanNA get into baseball. We Steve Carlton Keith Hernandez Tommy. Her Matt Morris Edgar Renteria Lee Smith John Tudor as selected by the Red Ribbon Committee. Out of those seven fans. Vote to into to the cardinals hall of fame. And they'll be inducted in August GimMe your impressions of of that group. I think what has to happen. Is it's time for Keith Hernandez to get in and then after that. Take your pick nick and there are a lot of good good candidates there but Keith Hernandez needs to be in. If we're going to have a Carl's fame Keith. Hernandez needs to be in it. Whether you want to look at things like did he win. A World Series yes Look at his wins above replacement. Easily the top on the list during those guys times with the cardinals. You WanNa look ups. I mean I did. This an looked up stat for this when the the finalists came out Keith Hernandez his opiates during the chunk of seven season. Chunk with the cardinals and he was playing every day. It was top top fifteen in the game among guys who had more than three thousand at bats during those seven seasons you look at first baseman top three and you know one of the other guys is a hall of fame in Cooperstown superstar. This is a player who was a key figure for cardinals team that went on to win a world series of beloved cardinal team. I know it didn't end the best. They had to trade him. There was a lot of stuff going on with Keith Hernandez with baseball at that time. And he's talked a lot about that but to look back and say man. It's time to honor that that guy for what he meant to that team what he meant to cardinals fans I think it's I think it's crazy that he's not in already so get him in. And after that I mean you can make a case for a lot of different guys. I like Matt Matt Morris underrepresented as as a horse for that cardinals rotation for longtime Keith Hernandez has to get it. Yeah this is great. It's it's a debate And the cardinals the you know they. They love the debate that goes along with it. And that's what makes this fun I had the chance going over to one zero one. ESPN and for folks. That don't know I've signed on with them officially officially to do some coverage of baseball and David freese popped in and I was remiss I I wanted to ask him about this because I brought it up a lot on the air. I don't know if they'll ever make that committee. You know to get to that point but he does fit the criteria to be a cardinals hall of Famer. I gotTA wonder if David Freezes is is going to go in there one day but to the ultimate point of what I was trying to say here with you is that it brings up debate. It brings up research. That's I think a good thing absolutely and it really. I don't get fired up about it too much. Because it's for the fans and it gives them a voice you know. Put Mark Maguire in and they decided to do that. They get the vote so they did it a good good for them. I don't agree with Mark Maguire. Then we can debate that all day but again it's for the fans but man. There are a lot of folks out there Dr who remember Keith Hernandez what he did for this team. What he did for for that world series team we did for that run and out? Can you not think that he's a cardinals hall of Famer so I think it will happen. I think it was really close Last year I think this is the time. I also think that when you look at Keith Hernandez you cannot overlook what he meant meant defensively in some believe. He's the best defensive first baseman ever not just really good ever like. He's the gold standard. Like forget how many consecutive gold loves was it was I think six I mean it was Remarkable and then also the the bat now not the staggering homerun totals that you see now but I mean his on base percentage was damn near your four hundred. You know this guy was an all around player on a team. That did all the things. Well I mean people laugh at me but you know I kind of compare. This current cardinals knows team to as close to that version of of Whitey Ball. That we've seen now no one's going to look like why'd you ball in two thousand twenty. The guys get paid to hit a home runs and and and the game has changed the ball. You know the the actual baseball has changed since then but in terms of playing good defense running the basis well being aggressive on the base pads you no. This team has some of those elements and they both have really good first basement to absolutely So you like potentially Matt Morris. I think he's been out of the spotlight so much that that hurts him. But he is deserving for sure In the other guy that I think there's two that really come to mind for me out of this group that I think will get had a lot of attention. Was John Tudor. Because of few look at the body of work that he had for three or four year period. It's it's unbelievable. It's some of the best pitching that the cardinals have ever had. And then the other one is Tommy. Her who was kind of the glue in some ways that kept everything going with those great teams. You had willy. You had Ozzie yet. Pendleton handle ten yet. Jack Clark you had tutor but in the middle of it all was Tommy. Her and that's something that I think doesn't get its recognition men and maybe it will now in August long run with the cardinals to certainly has people who view him as a fan favourite still in some ways kind of similar to a younger generation. eguren Korea I mean I can remember being a young guy in Sedalia Missouri watching cardinals baseball and and you know was dude so I think there are a lot of if it skews younger. I think you could see him. Get more votes than I think. Some people think so again to me. It's Keith Hernandez and then it's really fascinating conversation in the group after that but to the bigger point and we'll wrap it up about The hall of fame with this. It's the cardinals hall of fame. And I think some people are saying well. You can't put some of these guys in because they don't have hall of fame numbers offers exactly but they may have the heartstrings pulled on a certain fan that wants to vote even see him in and that's the part of this it makes it fun and this also goes the other way where it's not just that you could because you were a hall of Famer in Cooperstown means you get into the cardinals. Holiday mean Lee Smith. Now you can. There's no doubt about that. Lee Smith is a Cooperstown Hall of Famer Summer In a lot of people say well how could he be in the cardinals holiday if he was a hall of Famer will was he a key player for the cardinals totally. I mean they're they're shutdown lockout closer but he also most of his career was with with the cubs his best statistics. You know were were with the cubs. So I don't have a problem saying hey that guy's a hall of Famer but not necessarily the cardinals hall of Famer. Let's continue with the cardinal conversation Two quick points I WANNA get into. Nolan aeronautics so he's still with the Colorado rockies this time next week. The cardinals are on the field in Jupiter and and getting ready pitchers and catchers in a lot of the guys are already there What do you think happens with that in terms of where the cardinals are with that? What do you think happens? Well I think all eyes are going to be on Arizona to see kind of what the next chapter of the Nolan. Aaron Auto Saga is and we don't know how that's going to play out now. Usually when a star player comes out and criticizes this is is the general manager publicly. Doesn't bode well for the long term future. That doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be smoothed over Nolan Aeronautica pro the Iraqis rockies could make some sort of an apology or they could try to smooth that out. The other thing that I think is probably more likely to happen. is both sides kind of go out of their corner and the rockies figure out if they can compete this year a lot of things go away when the team wins and a lot of things bubble up when the team doesn't play well absolutely so if if the rockies come out on a tear and they're you know they're looking like they're going to compete in the postseason. I bet this calms down. If they don't and they look like the team that everybody was disappointed in last cheer. Then I think you'll hear this. No they're not trade speculation. Continue to be a big topic before the trade deadline but spring training when the Rockies Tarazona the comments he makes their the comments that are made from the front officer. They will be kind of a weathervane. I think in which direction this is moving. And we really don't know yet until till that point comes if he's in the clubhouse grouse in every day after practice about why they won't get rid of him then that's unsustainable you know that's GonNa wear on teammate. That's going to get people frustrated. Did if he says. Hey I'm ready to put this behind me. Let's go in and they do then. This could potentially go away the other thing that could happen that no one talks about is they could fire the GM. I mean mean British is not there forever. He's not He's not set in stone. That would be one of the perhaps the easiest ways to sort through this. If you were determined to make Nolan Aeronautic happy and keep them will that happen. I don't know I mean. We have to see what kind of what what the reading is on on spring training. We're coming to you from the Lou Fuse Automotive Studios on scoops Danny AMAC DOT COM Lou fused dot com.

"The Saint. Louis cardinals is seeing all the different events that they have throughout the season and throughout the off season one of those is the fantasy camp and if you follow me on twitter you saw our recent Pictures and videos from fantasy camp in the exclusive experience it so many fans get and I thought it'd be a great opportunity fortuity to bring in Joe Pfeiffer who runs fantasy camp runs our lawn alumni to talk about How you can get involved with this but also what the experience is like? We're coming to you from the Lou Fuse Hughes Automotive Studios on scoops. Danny MAC DOT COM and Joe. It's always a pleasure to visit with you. Thanks Dan appreciate it. You Bet Tell people about a fantasy camp so they sign up. What is it? What is fantasy camp? Oh Gosh a fantasy were could just come in off of it. A fantasy camps the best experiential opportunity to the cardinals can offer and I'm bias but I think we do the best one in baseball We just came off a camp where we had one hundred forty people come to camp either as a camper which a camper hamper means. You're playing and camp. You're playing seven games. You have your own uniforms your own locker at Roger Dean Stadium and we had bench coaches as well so folks that. Maybe don't WanNa play but one of experience everything else so imagine being Ozzie. Smith Bench coach David EXE bench coach for an entire week. So it's our disneyworld world experience and I think we better than anybody in baseball at thirty nine alumni including seven cardinals hall of famers the scam and that included Larry Walker after he gets the announcement announcement. Forty eight hours before that to to show up at the fantasy. COOPERSTOWN is in from New York in comes right to our opening banquet on Thursday night. He's amazing that's incredible. And you you play with these guys. I mean some of them ages can't beat age. I I've I'm figuring that out. We can't beat age but some of these guys getting uniform and they're playing with you side by side. They they are. There's twenty of them playing side by side. So you know Adrian Chambers First Camp From our two thousand eleven team Lance Berkman first camp from our eleven team Ozzie Smith this. Managing David EXE Stein's managing Ted Simmons who's going into the hall of fame and Cooperstown on July twenty six with Larry managing a team. So you're playing with against against cardinals. You've got to cardinals on your team down in Jupiter. You have another cardinal managing you so that's thirty guys right there at of our alumni base to feel ten teams in addition Daddy's got bruce suitor and Whitey Herzog and Ozzie Smith and Ricky Horton doesn't amazing job is our commissioner David Lapointe and you can't have a camp without Dave appoint his entertainment valued it a lot. Though I know Yeah Yeah No. He doesn't he gets cheered quite odd John. CASTELLO GETS BOOED A lot. Yeah that's worthy area. We don't do anything on our alumni society without Scott Terry. He is the best what he does in the business. We have such a long history with the Saint Louis Cardinals in it. It it It would be shame if we didn't recognize those alumni and keep them involved alden. I know you've done that and really made that a big purpose of what you do. Yeah I think we're one of the few clubs in Alabama actually have a sponsorship for alumni so heartland coca cola three years ago teamed up with us to sponsor our all of our alumni program in our unions are alumni weekend all of our fantasy camps in the one thing I told them as successful as we are on an annual basis aces on the field. The one thing that never goes into a slump is our tradition. We have ninety-nine l.. Tenets we have eleven world championships. We have a number of cardinals in Cooperstown Hall of famers. That never goes into a slump. Why not align with what we do best you find that the alumni? Maybe you want to do this. More than the campers don't you. It's their big reunion every January. Yeah it's hard for me. I hear from other alumni folks fantasy camp folks around the league. It's hard to get guys to do their camp. I have the exact opposite problem I have to just say no at times. And say hey we gotta gotta rotate guys in getting you guys involved in the beautiful thing is we're doing three camps in twenty twenty so it's GonNa present an opportunity for a lot of different alumni alumni begin involved in its fantasy camps at cardinals dot com fantasy camp at Cardinals Damascene Catholic cardinals dot com. Any information you need you can email and when you sign up so let's go back to that. You're going to get a cardinal uniform. You're going to be in the clubhouse where the cardinals are getting dressed getting ready to play where they hang out all those things take me inside. What a camp is really really all about boy start to finish it's You know you go into it. especially as a new camper thinking is about playing baseball and that becomes just a part of it The Camaraderie the engagement for all of our from all of our alumni all of our alumni. No if they participate in one of our camps our main objective is that they engage our campers the high level. So it's my job to select alumni that I know are going to do that are willing to do that. So lifelong friendships have been built out of this with former cardinals. Awesome new campers business partnerships have been built out of this relationship. So start to finish your uniform in your Locker Room at Roger Dean Stadium for the Jupiter Camp to uniforms you're you're going to be drafted on a roster as Dave appoint and Ricky Horton always say yes we are going to draft. You even don't WanNa draft you and and you go through a workout. You'RE GONNA play six regular season games down in Jupiter you and you're GONNA play a playoff game. Guaranteed are championship game. We call it our world series winner and loser gets rings just like the winner and loser of a world series ring but the winner gets the bigger rain in the champagne. Celebration of the DECAMP and John Tudor's team just experience you're into that with Bowen. Woody Williams just a couple of weeks ago and our goal is to provide an authentic experience an authentic major league experience and I think we do that really. Yeah well especially with WHO who we have there and women are part of this too. I think that's something that we need to address it because I I did a lot of people say well. I played baseball in high school or College. I'm not good anymore. Maybe I'll be able to do it. And they they do it but at this camp there are men and women and there are people that are advanced danced age. I don't want to say that they're old. I'd say advanced age but all types of people are coming down to fantasy camp. Bill Kersey eighty five years old from New Jersey. We Call Him Jersey Kersey Kersey. He was in our Camp John. ANAGNOSTI WHO's eighty seven years old will be at our cooperstown camp up at Doubleday field. June John Actually played on w field in the semifinals. In High School game in the forties and is planning doubleday field again is a cardinal's fan escaper. So our median age usually falls in right around fifty eighty two for camp. You have to be twenty seven or older to play in our camp but women We have four women at this camp which was awesome. Most we've had in a camp and they engaged aged in a high level and it was awesome experience that I'm I'm hoping down the road that we even get to a point where we have an all female opportunity with camps. The Red Sox do that really well. Oh and and maybe we'll get to that point point and the these sellout so we need to make sure that people understand. They'RE GONNA sell out very very quickly. You have just finished up the Jupiter Camp Yep and we have a new one coming up and I say new one. It's the next one cooperstown June twenty fifth through the twenty eighth. I've been fantasy camp. I think it's amazing but I if I could go to cooperstown astounded where I really loved to go joked about that you need to take that serious cooperstown. It is so unique It's the home of baseball and to play a doubleday today. Field is just so awesome. I mean you're planning a venue. That's one hundred years old where Babe Ruth played in the greats of the Games of experienced the game on that field and you're on Main Street in the hall of fame is right down the street so you have a family membership. That's included for the National Baseball Hall of fame so we only have four teams in that camp. It's a fourteen round robin within. But I know during the time for the other two teams. I don't worry about them because they get to go. Hang out at the hall of fame which is incredible in Ozzy's the face of this camp so as he's on on the Board of the National Baseball Hall of fame we talked about this concept three or four years ago. And so we gotta do. We're going to cardinals. Camp it cooperstown. How awesome would that be? No other team in baseball. Is doing this and so one of our dinner events is actually in the plaque gallery in every camper will have an opportunity to get their photo taken with ozzy a plaque. That just doesn't happen. That doesn't have on induction weekend. That just never happens. So we provide that unique experience. You'RE GONNA play four games a doubleday field. There's going to be a special dinner at ended the historic Farmers Museum in Cooperstown. Not The easiest place to get to. I know that you've got to fly into Albany Syracuse and drive over but if you haven't experienced cooperstown town there's not a better way other than induction weekend if one of your guys is going in which we've got Walker and Simmons's here which is going to be amazing July but this experience is really unique. Brian Jordan who does all of our camps whenever he's available says this is his favorite one. I bet what other famous if and other hall of famers will be there for this. We've got cardinals hall of Famer soon. Ozzy's the face of it from a National Baseball Hall of fame perspective. But we've got to Cardinal Hall of Famers in Ray Lankford Jason Isringhausen seal. Either play with ray or in. Jason are against them in this camp and how about other names. It'll be involved whether guys that are playing or Brian Jordan Rick and Keel so you got four heavy hitters with Jordan and Keel Isringhausen Applying in this camp and then your managers. Somebody's GonNa get Lucky and have ozzy is their manager. He's one of our managers our bosque. WHO's a club? "Tell us about what you're going to be doing this year. It's it's exciting for you. It's really exciting. I've done a lot with baseball. But I've never hosted a pre and post game show throughout the course of the season. I've mostly been a beat reporter travelling being at the ballpark on the field. So I'm really excited to be hosting giants. Pre and post game was great guys. I mean, Tim Flannery richer, really Shawn ESTES, Bill Laskey. I mean, I had the best group of guys and a great organization to you can't pick a better one in the giants. Yeah. You know? I do it. This is what I do. You know? On the weekend. This is what I do. And I always people always say, well, what are you gonna talk about today? And I always say that days game tells the story it does. And I feel like I grew up with baseball my dad's a baseball coach. So I have an appreciation for the game that I think a lot of people don't and there's always something to talk about it is a long season. Yes. One hundred sixty games. Right. And you get to kind of turn the page. It's not quite like every game matters depending on the time of year. Of course. But baseball is is a beautiful game. There's a lot of interest Kosice to the game and decision making when it comes to coaching managers a lot of people don't realize, so I appreciate it. I love it. I love being in the ballpark of the smell the ballpark ballpark food. I'm right at home. I'm really happy back covering baseball. Because it's something I haven't really done much since coming to San Francisco. But it's something I've done a lot throughout my career. Well in the mardi Larry drinking game every time. You say it's a long season take a drink. Okay. I can do that. I can keep up with your shirt. Let's do it. The other one is he can hit. That's my other one page and the drink of choice for you is I'll take a nice vodka sometime. Okay. Okay. I'm coming in the bourbon stuff now. So good Manhattan straight up. I like it. Kelly Johnson joins us. This is going to be a lot of fun going through the season with her and your background. They always say people who do the jobs we do have to have a lot of passion for baseball. You can't fake it in this job. Tell us your background. So again, I grew up on a baseball field with my father. I was literally taking grounders and and BP from the time I could walk. I mean, my littlest pictures have me with the old Seattle mariner pitchfork hard helmets. I had a blue glove. I played shortstop like my dad. So I grew up around the game. And then in terms of my background right out of the gate. I got involved with the Astros and is down in Austin, Texas. And then I went to Saint Louis and the Carlson, my favorite team growing up Ozzie Smith, love them, all time favorite athlete. So I got to cover the. Carlos for three years, I traveled with them. I was in San Francisco for that. Two when they lost. And of course, Barry Bonds. The giants went on to lose the angels in the World Series. And then from there I went to DC and Baltimore Orioles beat reporter, I became the Redskins in Washington nationals went back to Houston did stuff with the Astros again. And now, I'm here. So I have been a beat reporter at multiple stops. But I've never done cactus league. I've always ungrateful lakes. I'm kind of excited to be an Arizona this time. Boy, what a what a difference being here. Of course, you only have to go a half hour to go to a game here then down there you go two and a half hours, no proximity. And I was with the nationals when they were in beer, Florida way, north like space coast near NASA. And it made no sense. It was windy. It was miserable. There was nothing there. There's no good food. So there's food all around you here, you have plenty of options and Scottsdale. So yeah, it's so much different than out there in Florida. So what do you think about the team you've been here for a few days? I know we have any games yet. And of course, it's the weekend. The first weekend in baseball here coming up. Well, what's your feeling about the giants? Just over the winter and everything that you expect. You know? I mean, they they certainly are a team that no one likes to use the word rebuild reboot. Whatever you wanna stay with four hundred eighty on board. They are headed in new direction. I think it's good. I'm still old school baseball. So I think there's some middle ground between sabermetrics lyrics, and what you see and your gut in your eye test. Just good baseball. So you know, this is a team. Honestly, they've added a lot of older veterans. We thought they were going to get younger right more athletic. They certainly got more versatile with some of these guys playing multiple physicians. We'll see who actually makes it out of spring training law. These guys are a minor league deals. It didn't win the big one. You know, Bryce Harper still waiting on that, but we knew from a financial standpoint with this roster and some of the big contracts that they frankly are going to have to get rid of at some point if they can. Zaidi's got his work cut out for him. But it's still a twenty you look at the roster, and you look at some of the names, and you're like, well, it can't be. I mean are they had two straight losing seasons? But they can't be that bad. Right. I mean, you hope the BUSTER Posey's hip is writing any feels great and Jeff's Amarjit can get back to being the work horse in Madison. Bumgarner can avoid some crazy freak injury again. Because injuries obviously really wrecked havoc on this team the last couple of years, but you know, I I hope that they can be competitive, and I hoped it on a nightly basis, you know, we can have some fun baseball than talk about obviously with the dodgers and their payroll and their talent and their starting pitching staff and everything that they have over there. It's going be tough to ten in the division. But you know, I think they're headed in a good direction. I think there are sad to see. This is Bruce Bochy last season. I'm I feel really blessed to be able to cover this team and do the pre and post game show in his last year. Because he's he's a true. He's a legend. But he's at old school baseball type that I love. Yeah. Kelly Johnston with this fans who are going to hear a lot of Kelly as we go through the season. The thing about bocce the reaction of the players. It's been interesting for me this whole week. It's almost like let's win one for the gipper in a way, which is nice because it's a positive development in giants baseball, and we're looking for positive things as we go into the season that that may be one is added motivation. Jeff smart just said yesterday, he said, you know, there has to be some emotion to the game. And there's always you always get up for playing and all that. But it, but it's great to have an added emotional element to the season, and that can go a long ways this team. You know, they love responding to fan base loves the game of baseball Utah. I talked to general managers and managers yesterday. And you know, it's going to be hard to see the game without Bruce coaching. We know he's not going to be he's going to be around. He's already, you know, talking about, oh, I'm not going to be gone, but not managing obviously for the for the orange and black. So I do think that these guys are going to rally around. I do hope that somehow they can find some metal potion. You know and have kind of a fun run to send him out the right way. But you know, it's it's a long season too, though. So right. It's easy to talk about it right now, it's running training. But you know, you get to game one forty. We'll see where they're at. Manhattan. There we go see I'll have a Manhattan tonight. I'll get on that right away. Hey, your favorite player growing up all time favorite player athlete of any sport. And I and I played college basketball. But it's Ozzie Smith. Shortstop my mom is a gymnastics coach I was a gymnast until I got too big for everything. So naturally, I was drawn to as a kid and Whitey ball and Saint Louis cardinals team with Vince Coleman and William and g and John Tudor house at KENDALL. I love that team. So I was really fortunate to be in Saint Louis when Ozzy wanted all fame, and so I got a lot to him. I got to interview. Stan Musial Brock and Bob Gibson and all the legends city is a great baseball town and their legends are always around. So. Yeah. Ozzie Smith is never one when it comes to baseball. Gary Payton has never won. When it comes to basketball. Got my Oakland guy in there too. Great. I'm really glad we did this. Now, this is fun too. So everyone can hear your background. And you've got the passion. Wonderful very good Kelly. Thanks so much. Thank you so much. You're legend nine just feel blessed sitting next to you. Thanks for having me just the kid from Brooklyn talking baseball. And that's it more coming up came six eighty the sports leader good..

"Could be a weapon his at bats over the weekend. I know fans will say Manny didn't look very good. I took away some positives. From the at bats say I saw him take pitches that he was chasing last year. I didn't see him nearly opt out as off balance. I didn't see the hard contact. Now's two at bats. Let's pump the brakes. It was February twenty four at the whatever. It was. So I'm a really intent on how he's taking pitches. Because if you think about carpenter Fowler in those two prime positions and you go back to two years ago. Remember, it was going to be a lead misdee- as and carpenter follower. Three guys that would take a ton of pitches and on base machine. Kind of thing. If follower can be that guy. That's what you're looking for. And so I saw that a little bit from Dexter, which was better the reports have been that he looks better at the plate. So let's let it play out. Let's see how it let's see out shakes out here in spring. The the Fowler question certainly one that we get quite often you made reference to to him being on the podcast, and I was with your broadcast partner Jim Edmonds. And he said he's working with the outfield delight that was a delight. Yes. And Jim said, I got to say something about Dexter. He's like the first in line for all of the drills. And he goes he's asking what drills were doing the next day. He goes he's really locked in the spring. That's great. Of course. It doesn't matter. If it doesn't translate to. Suction? But as far as an attitude goes that certainly positive he and Mike she'll get along very very well. That's great. Let's see if Goldschmidt and ozone go to free agency. Then what happens now without Nolan Aaron out? Oh being out there. I don't know if the cardinals over thought it was likely that they get our air now because if he would have gone to free agency, I don't know what team wouldn't have been interested. No one air Nado. Yeah. For other Padres considering what they just did. Go ahead. Well, my interrupting no, no, no, no, no. I it's a conversation. Cardinals are very high on these young kids that they have coming up position player wise, and it's a couple of corner infielders. So you know now. Yeah. Aaron oh does Iran Ayios gone. So you got to look ahead to the Nolan Gorman's in some of the other guys that are not going to be here. You would assume next year, but it's the year after so stopgaps potentially. And then as it pertains does Oona Seattle the year plays out, you know, it's a big year for him. Personally. I think the big year for the cardinals to find out what they haven't Tyler O'Neil. And and how many bats can you give them and what kind of player do you have? And if Tyler O'neil is the type of player that they think they acquired, and as he is continuing to progress as the player that they hope he is then that may ease the tension on whether or not you want to sign resign ozone a-, and then dedicate funds to other areas that that you see fit. So you know, wherever that may be pitching. Now. I don't know. I mean, you you start thinking about it. But you do have an option on carpenters. So that's a third base position that maybe buys you another year until some of these young kids come up allocate the funds to I don't know. You wanna re-sign Michael Walker, certainly Paul Goldschmidt would be somebody. You probably want to resign if everything falls into into plan, and I've heard by the way, Tim nothing. But like amazing things about him both in the clubhouse and on the field. Like amazing things I better and better. Better. I assure you see all kinds of things that I'm not privy to see him. But when I was waiting around in the clubhouse a couple was about. I guess it was last week. It was after their first full squad workout. Yeah. And he's getting dressed and Flaherty sitting at the table, or you know, guys, sit there and eat and hang out, and he goes over to flare. Eighty and he said, hey, I noticed you were doing this with your pickoff move. This is what I like to do when I'm covering first base. What what would you like me to do? And what does this mean when you hold your glove this way? And I'm just like just as I mean, it's the tiniest thing. But here's a guy who, you know. It's his first full squad workout barely nose Jack Flaherty us over. And does that as a thirty one thirty two year old veteran? I mean, yes, that's the kind of thing that I know fans love to hear those kinds of stories. I saw it with my own eyes. And I'm sure you're hearing many things like did their first baseball talk, which is Mike shield coaching staff coming in they pick up little things talk about the game. Here's a good thing. Here's a bad thing. Let's talk about it. I got to speak apparently. Or at least one of the first guys was Paul Goldschmidt gets up, you know, an area. His in his first couple of weeks days of, you know, being a new organization. He's I got my two cents. Here's what I saw. Boom, boom, boom, boom. And geysers like, wow. Yeah. He does. He's one of those guys. He's not going to certainly not going to be the loudest guy by any means. But he just has he presses himself. You know, I remember I was talking with Kyle McClellan came wax who's down here, of course, and was talking about leadership in the clubhouse from years. He was a part of the team and then previous years and a lot of times it's not necessarily even the star players. It's just guys with the way that they carry themselves Goldschmidt happens to check both of those boxes based on the the the very little we've seen but cardinal fans. I think certainly are going to love them. Let's see what other questions. Do we have here? People. Ask about kaikal does the Martinez news this morning change that in any way. I my guess based on how much you went into the depth of the rotation that that doesn't change it. But I'll ask it anyone since people are asking, I they they still look I mean, I absolutely I think you'd think he goes for you kinda hit the nail on the head with the Nado on the years in the dollars. What do you think? Tyco? I man he comes to Saint Louis, but what he wants up going for. Year old. I did look at this. Our buddy Keith O'Brien who works with us on Fox Sports midwest. We were talking the other day, and we try to figure out the last. I guess kaikal is what thirty one years old the last thirty one year old lefty free agent that the cardinals brought in was John Tudor. Wow. Yeah. Well, that's a nice little fun fact. Yeah. I enjoy those kinds of fun. We we were trying to we think we're right. But it was John Tudor, and he turned out to be pretty good. He had a nice little second five. He had a pretty good run. Yeah. I mean, I think you just find out where he's at. And I I'm sure the numbers drop, and I'm sure. I'm sure he's saying, well, I want this. But you know, numbers are gonna tell you what they what the analytics department comes in and says this what we think he's worth. And and then mowing his guys start crunching and see what they come up with final thoughts. Are welcome get them in the triad. Bank viewer chat line will answer one or two more. And then we'll sign off, Dan. And I'll be back later on in the week. Dan will be on the cardinals broadcast on Fox Sports midwest Saturday that's Saturday coming up. Absolutely. And you can stream it wherever you might be like I do down here with blues games on the Fox Sports go app. We are presented by mattress direct. We announced the winner last week of the mattress direct contest, Sarah, golden her and her significant other or flying down here next week to experience cardinals spring training, courtesy of mattress direct. The place to go S T, L mattress dot com. Dan, what are keeping an eye? I on during these first few spring training games. I believe that was supposed to be, Dan. What are you keeping an eye under his first training? What are you watching when you're up in the booth or when you're on well? Is on the field. Of course. Yes. Very nice. Beautiful son. Jordan was in. We was eater on Saturday. That was interesting. Yeah. I've been interested certainly on the young players. I this is my favorite time to see the young guys coming up the lefty bats, I want to see who emerges as a left handed bat option off the bench show. Drew Robinson is ask about him. Yeah. He's he's off to a good start hitting haven't seen him a lot in the field. But they've been giving him an opportunity off the bench off to a good start hitting the ball. Tommy Edmund is hit. The ball Mack truck is hit the ball. You know, not to say that the latter two are going to make this team. But drew Robinson is the guy they acquired from Texas for Patrick wisdom. So I want to know as a left handed option off the bench. What player might that be? And by the way, that left handed option might be Jose Martinez. And you know, they might just say, hey, right. Handers up. Our best option off the bench is Jose. Mar. Now, he just hits them. So well, we're going to go with this guy. Yeah. Because he just flat out hit. Yeah. One final question. Let's make sure we get one more in given injury history. Why should St Louis count on race versus looking at anything as found money? Not sure I follow the second part of that. But regarding the injury history, certainly I can find myself the same way, you know, like I read and I listened to what I said to you. And I read what Derek wrote and the post-dispatch and about shit like cackling about how just like it was just nuts the video game reference, and it's like you had so many chances, but we've been here before. And it's like it subliminally tempers my excitement on racists. I'm like until I see it consistently in the big leagues. I just feel like it's going to be like this, you know, this potential that we might not have realized because of his injury history. How do you? How do you take my chance? Yeah. I mean, what do you want him or not? I mean, take a chance not looking to place him on waivers. Yeah. I mean, it is what it is guy. Got hurt. You gonna roll the dice? You know, personally first off. He's such a good guy. I know, you know, because you're around all these guys break time. But then what he's dealt with off the field. I'm with what he had to deal with Tommy, John and shoulder. I mean my God. Yeah. It's a hell of a store. It is and his daughter and. Yeah, in the other thing is is there are I'm not saying, it's it's, you know, Dallas kaikal or Craig kimbrel or whatever starter you want to throw out there. But I'm going to take my chances, but there's some fallback there with Gombar, and and potentially might be in the rotation. But you know, there's other guys that have come up, and and and at least there's fall bags there that again, I'm not saying it's the number one ace of somebody staff, but they have fall Bax, but I'll take my chances with Alex race. I mean, and if he's healthy man, what did they do? Have you heard when they are going to give him a start? I said yesterday he wants to get a start. You gotta think it's coming soon. You mentioned there's some splits by squid squad game. So you're a month away. Yeah. I mean at some point. Yeah, he's got to get on the on the train. So you can catch it on Fox Sports. But west this Saturday, the Fox Sports go app, if you miss it, Dan, and I will be with you to times a week here from Jupiter Florida the design air. "But after the local kid and getting are Nado. Yeah. He's signed a one year a one year with Colorado. And they're going to be garbage yet. Jeff passan who's our ESPN. We'll be insiders the new guy and let let's talk division real quick. Let's time worse. Every single teen is sorry. Yeah. Except the dodgers San Francisco total rebuild, right? If they give Bryce laws Goldschmidt and more than that. They lost the the other infielder to oh. And Pollock is no longer with them easier. Outfielders with the dodgers San Diego is an eternal rebuild not gonna do still pretty good. But pretty good. That's pretty good is what Colorado's always been. So I'm not worried about the dodgers winning the they're going to the postseason barring, you know, tragedy. Right, right. I agree. I do think the National League the rest of the nationally has got more interesting because Saint Louis is back with Goldschmidt them. We don't you haven't been here long. I know the cardinals to think I know maybe the eighties. I'm no that we're not the only cardinal. You can even mention its Ozzie Smith as he was. I can't. Friendly, but other than that, George. We don't discuss them. The cabinats knees are from there, and they know better and they're from their don't even mention John Tudor in eighty five.
