"Now to Rob would fork all right, Sandy. The Kansas City Chiefs are presently on their way to Tampa for Super Bowl 55. But they are traveling without outside linebackers Coach Britt Reid, The son of head coach Andy Reid, was involved in a multi car crash Thursday that injured two Children. He will remain in Kansas City while Andy Reid is reportedly traveling with the team and is set to coach tomorrow's game. The Washington football team if they're to ever get to that game will need an upgraded quarterback, and there are big names like to Shawn Watson and Carson Wentz expected to be available. Blockbuster Trade is certainly an avenue to getting one for the burgundy and gold, but coach Ron Rivera told ESPN is John Time in his podcast. Deal like the one that sent Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles. I don't think that's something that I would want to do, because again if you get what you want, but you don't have what you need. Then you create problems. If you can't protect the quarterback. If you don't have playmakers around him, then what's the good of having that guy? That's the way I looked at it and we're still building our roster. We don't have every piece to our puzzle. So we have to be very careful, then. It's a good thing, Washington's current quarterback Kyle Allen, told our friends at NBC SPORTS Washington A full recovery from his awful ankle injury over the course of the season is now about eight weeks away from that full recovery, so plenty of time. Revelation 12-18: Signs and Symbols
"John continues explaining his vision to us today in. Its filled with lots of signs and symbols. That means many of these things aren't literal their symbolic and while there is some debate. Now about what. These things mean if we try to figure out how to apply them to future events. John's original audience probably wasn't confused at all. They saw this vision through the lens of israel's history and as you know jewish literature loves signs and numbers and symbols so will impact some of that today. I we see a woman giving birth to a child that would rule the nations. There's a beast that doesn't like this. Who tries to put a stop to it. All she goes to live in the wilderness. Where god takes care of her. Does any of that sound familiar. Most people think this woman is israel that satan is the dragon and that the stars that got swooped down by the dragon's tail or the angels. Who joined him. War breaks out in heaven between the elect. Angels and satans angels and the elec angels win so satan and his angels are addicted. Since they can't stay in heaven they mount an attack on earth but god miraculously protects israel boarded again. Satan's angel goff to attack. God's other kids and in john's times they likely would have seen this as referring to the gentiles. Or maybe the church at large. Or maybe the remnant of israel in chapter thirteen giannis. A sea beast. It sounds a lot like the dragon. Seven heads ten horns and if you're with us in the old testament you may remember that horns symbolize kings or kingdoms there a sign of power. Everybody on earth thinks the beast is awesome. And if you're alive during john's day you're probably thinking oh right room because everyone worships this beast. Except for god's kids according to verse eight and for the jews in john's day this would be a flashback to the book of daniel when he and a few of his friends were living in babylon and king nebuchadnezzar demanded to be worshiped. So in verse eleven. John reminds his readers. How god's kids are called to respond in this kind of situation he says ear is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints. The way to overcome is to remain faithful despite persecution next. John describes an earth beast. This beast has a lot of power over the people of earth and does a lot of things that are attempts to counterfeit god in his ways. It looks like a lamb at fakes. Its own resurrection. And it has people mark themselves on the forehead and the hand remember the factories. We talked about a little leather boxes with scripture and then that religious jews where that comes from deuteronomy six four through eight which says eero israel the lord our god the lord is one you shall love the lord god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might and these words that i command you today shall be on your heart you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as front litz between your is the beast counterfeits this with his own name instead of the name of god and remember how in hebrew every letter of the alphabet has a number assigned to it. The beast name is spelled with the letter. Six six six which also happens to be how you spell out the name of nero the roman emperor so this probably isn't literal. It's probably representative of who you worship. There are other ways to interpret this through a modern lens but if we look at it through the lens of john's readers they likely would have understood roamed be babylon two point which we already know from i peter five and they probably would have seen this hand forehead business as representative of who you belong to are you mark. With god's name or rome's we're in jerusalem in chapter fourteen. And jesus is there with a one hundred and forty four thousand which again maybe a precise number. It is probably symbolic of a much larger number. These marked with god's name on their foreheads and probably not literally they sing and worship god then three angels show up with three messages angel number. One says worship god because judging is coming angel number two says babylon is fallen. Angel number three says those who worshipped the beast. Instead of god will hit god's judgment and everlasting punishment and again. John reminds his readers in verse. Twelve year is a call for the endurance of the saints. Those who keep the commandments of god and their faith in jesus despite the attacks of the beast god has the final. Say some angels assist. Maybe jesus in beginning to work out justice and vengeance on the earth by the way. John says these angels come out of the temple in heaven yesterday and today. We've seen three references to this temple in heaven. Some believe the earthly temple was a literal replica of a temple in heaven and simply the word temple is just a reverence to god's dwelling place in general and this may or may not be the same thing referred to in chapter fifteen as the sanctuary of the tent of witness seven. More angels. Come out carrying seven bowls of god's wrath which are also described as plagues. Some of these plagues might remind you of what we saw. A longtime ago in egypt sores on those who don't worship god the season the rivers and springs become blood the sun scorch and burns people then darkness than the river dries up and the enemies of god used their demonic powers to perform signs just like barros magicians then before the seventh bowl the armies at the world gathering the planes of armageddon on our trips to israel we stand on mount carmel and look over that patch of land in john's day. It served as the crossroads of the world kind of like the atlanta airport and while the armies are gathered there. The seventh angel pours out his bowl of earthquakes. Fallen city sunken islands crumbling mountains lightning thunder and one hundred pound. Hailstones and god makes babylon or rome. Drink the cup of his wrath

"The team are not expected to reach a long term deal by Wednesday's deadline for franchise players King Center where Sean Holmes is in quarantine once again. After leaving the NBA's bubble to pick up a food delivery, and finally, in 1999 the town of land a rod in southern Spain was facing a grave shortage. So the mayor responded. By making it illegal to die. Today on ESPN Daily Inside Washington's name and logo. Jade with ESPN NFL reporter John Time. How did the team get its name in the first place? And why, if there's so many controversies? Is this the time for it to change? That story on ESPN daily wherever you get your podcast for all the latest headlines, information student of SportsCenter on ESPN radio all throughout the day. Let's get right to it with Pablo Torrey, his podcast ESPN daily. He's the new host. He replaces Meena Times who has moved on to bigger and better things stealing my time slot. Infuriating poppy because times is taking the highly questionable time slot. I wasn't supposed to announce that, but I already kind of did so. There it is. Pablo Torrey with us on ESPN Radio. Pablo, Help me understand this letter from Josh Hawley, Mizeur, Missouri. You know, Senator to Adam Silver. What did you make of it? Yeah. I mean, Josh Holly is a hawk on China. He is a hard line guy on China in general. And this is something that is both Super valid because let's be clear about something and I think it's worth the clarity here. What is happening in China, Dan is a series of human rights. Abuses. There are atrocities going on. They're so Hong Kong is one aspect of it. The free Hong Kong movement. Hong Kong wanting autonomy from Beijing. Hong Kong, experiencing Crazy amounts of police brutality right now, in parallel to our own kind of experience in America. Except there, there is no recourse for the protesters to ever change the government control of them. That's all going on right now. The government by the way, has, unsurprisingly Exonerated itself when it comes to police brutality in Hong Kong so free Hong Kong is one issue. But there are other issues, too, and there are like literally as many as one million Uighurs, members of Muslim minority groups in northwest China who are currently in internment camps. And I know it's probably jarring for me to throw all of this up on ESPN radio right now, but this is like in the news. Read The New York Times three TVs re global news organization. This is very much out in the open as much as China disputes it so historically enormous amount of people are in internment camps. Ostensibly because they belong to inconvenient to Muslim minority groups. And by the way, there's like forced sterilizations and abortions that are being reported by The Associated Press The curve, the birth rate In northwest China among the Muslim minority groups. All of which is to say that bringing attention to that stuff is super important. But the job Holly letter was also simultaneously pretty transparent, trolling. And it felt like it so often does Dan like a bunch of important issues. Brought up to silence the voices ofthe other oppressed groups in America. It reminded me fundamentally of what about Chicago except in this case. What about China? You don't actually care about people in Chicago? Or in this case, China, especially for the people re tweeting the job, Holly letter over and over again. You do care about silencing those voices that you politically disagree with. Isn't that usually how Asian plight is used. Yeah. I mean, that's what is so fascinating to me and heartbreaking as a person who sees it through that lens, because nobody ever really cares about what goes on in Asia or two Asians in general. You know, Richie incognito's says stuff about Pearl Harbor and massage parlors, and it's in a document. Nobody in our business even cares about that. There's no visibility really. For Asian Americans in our country. Nobody really cares about that. However, if you can use Asian Americans as model minority to argue against affirmative action will suddenly we are allies. We are very important people. It's suddenly in this case. Human rights abuses there happening in an Asian country. Well, suddenly now, even though we don't care at all about police brutality in America, we do care about it in Hong Kong, and to me that I find it very hard to believe that those critics Are our allies. It feels like once again, we're only useful in so far as we are a hammer to beat down upon people that they really, really don't like. Pablo, were you? Are you disappointed that the league chose business? They made a business decision over expressing support for the people going through this. Disappointment. I think a super instructive word here because that speaks to our expectations for any corporation in 2020 in this global flattened economy. To me. I wasn't surprised. My level of disappointment is on ly if you really buy into the notion that the N B a or any corporation is actually able to behave. Any public interest on behalf of these oppressed people, as opposed to what their actual defined purpose and mission is as a corporation, which is to make as much money as possible for as long a time it's possible for their shareholders. Oh, I would love it. Obviously, if business was to be sacrificed for these issues, But I'm also not expecting that At this point. I think it's super naive. And also a larger conversation for all of us have right like we all make compromises. Compromises are at a certain point understandable and logical. At the same time, If you're going to be a league that stands on principle and slogan about freedom and equality, I do think it's fair to point out that when you implicitly approve of what's going on with your business partners That's something you'll have to answer to as well and you better have a good head. No, it's about principle. I just think that their spelling it a little differently than we are when we talk about that stuff, because when you read everything that that senator Holly wrote, he starts with the Hong Kong stuff and he starts with China and he stays there for a while, but he was talking about the social messages You told his first. Hey, they've got to be careful on this stuff has to be pre approved because somebody goes out there with free Hong Kong. All of a sudden the NBA's gonna have a huge problem on its hands because it was a Daryl Morey tweet that started all this and cost them hundreds of millions of dollars. Yes, Yes, This is all foreseeable. All of this was foreseeable And then when it comes to the holy stuff, I want to be clear about something too, because the people who are amplifying that message Around American precincts in media. They don't from my observation. They don't really want people to like read deeper into China or Hong Kong. The goal there is not education. It's not hate Look at what's going on in China and Hong Kong. It's crazy, and it's indefensible. That's not the goal. The goal instead. For them to say to all the people on the opposite political ill. You are just as hypocritical and just as bad as us. It is a cynical moon. It is not one done for the enlightenment of the reader or the sports, Then it is merely an attempt to clear a conscience. Because there is dirt underneath someone else's moral fingernails to it's not about continuing the discussion. It's not even really about Let's three Hong Kong I'm no, it's nearly about Hey, LeBron. You said that you're pro freedom. But what about this? And that's to me is just so transparent and depressing at this point. Pablo, stay there for a second. We're goingto talk a little more about this stuff. But first I've got to tell you about Casper. All I wanted to always assume zoom zoom and a boom boom mattresses on the market. We all have them telling wise to God years of research hundreds of tests thousands of generations..

Capitalism In The Courtroom
"At the time. John Molo left Georgetown. There were basically three options to pay for a lawsuit one. You could try to convince a lawyer to do it. Pro Bono to you could pay for it yourself or three contingency where the lawyer represents issue for free upfront but if you win he gets a percentage John is looking at a fourth option something that stemmed from his days as a tax lawyer when he'd worked with bankers who were trying to manage financial risks he had started to see his work as a lawyer in the same way as risk management commits whether you're hard by the plaintiff for by the defendant what you're really doing is managing risk if you look at a lawsuit in purely financial terms for the plaintiff a lawsuit is an asset of uncertain value right if you sue someone and you're seeking damages in financial terms that lawsuit is potentially the and upset and asset. You just don't know yet how much it's worth if you're representing a defending its its ally ability of uncertain value. If you're being sued by someone you might end up owning them money so as the defendant the lawsuit is a potential liability to be clear. He is not talking about criminal cases. He's talking about large. Commercial cases tried tried in civil courts. The upsides or downsides on either side of those cases is a big fat financial question mark or you're GonNa win a hundred million dollars so you know when fifty million dollars a year to win zero. That's a wide band of potential outcomes right and every lawsuit is a gamble on both sides. Every lawsuit is his risk. That's right if you're a lawyer doing a civil case on contingency right. You took it for free and you only get money if they win. You're not only lawyering. You're also constantly hedging your bets like how can I get the most justice which in those cases justices money in the least amount of time all of this financial financial analysis drives all kinds of lawyerly decisions like should I do more depositions. Should I file that motion or not job used to manage the risk and try to maximize or minimize the value the acid reliability there are of course people whose entire jobs are pricing and funding risks investors so John starts looking at this thing that at the time people are mostly only doing in Australia and the UK. It's called litigation food financing where a third party funder invests money in a lawsuit. If the lawsuit wins the thunder gets a cut. If it loses they get nothing so the funder undertakes the financial risk and while the funder funds the lawyer can just lawyer but in the late two thousands as John is thinking about all of this. This was still a pretty new idea in the United States my Stein. It's talked to me about this. She is a law professor at the University of Iowa. When you went to law school was litigation funding a thing that was discussed. No when I was in law school litigation finance did not exist at aw and why didn't it exists it well until about ten years ago in this country. It was generally understood good that it's a prohibited practice under an ancient doctrine. That's called champion. Champi the legal term for if you are not say hey the plaintiff defendant or lawyer a lawsuit. If you're not directly part of that lawsuit you cannot benefit financially from it. Champigny laws hearken back back to the unscrupulous lords and ladies of the Middle Ages in feudal England lords who had disputes with each other land disputes another disputes would harass each other by funding their underlings claims basically lords who don't like each other funding lawsuits against steetch other for petty reasons basically judicial harassment and medieval judges eventually got tired of this so they gave it a silly name Champi and they outlawed it and so this doctrine emerged in order to essentially protect the court system from being used for goals that it was not intended to you from henceforth only people with an actual stake in a lawsuit can benefit from it of course. We're not in futile England anymore so we can certainly question whether the reasoning still applies. I mean we do get to use running water toilets so there have been some advances since then and a little thing called democracy. Oh that great in democratic societies one basic rate is the right to access the court system are dispute should be resolved based on our legal rights as opposed to whether you have more money than me. This is the same problem that that lawyer John Molo had been mulling over. What do commoner's like you and me do if we have a legitimate lawsuit but we don't have money and he thinks you know what charity is outdated third party? Investing will give more people access to the courts in fact he thinks investing in lawsuits is the market solution he has been in looking for and John. Timing is very good because by the time he's looking at this in the late two thousands Australia and the UK have started to allow third party investments in the United States the law's vary state by state so there might be states where they can invest in lawsuits if they write the contract just right so john decided to test the waters he and another lawyer named Chris Bogart started a company to fund lawsuits in exchange range for a cut of whatever they win. This was two thousand nine and we partnered up and raised money actually raised the money at the the depth of the last financial crisis. Chris and John are buying their best litigation funding friends bracelets at the height of the financial crisis but good good news for them as markets fall lawsuits tend to rise so the recession that has tanked so many businesses is very good for

"It in sports illustrated by my good friend. John time was a listing of the top hundred under influential people in the n._f._l. Is restart the hundred season on that list person. I'm talking to so proud of you gave me. That's such an accomplishment and congrats congrats. Thank you andrew and i shared publicly at the time that which i will tell you and it's a sincere sincere can be i was overwhelmed by that and me andrew me amy me. I be twist. I was at a loss for words and as i then later sports illustrated i said i'm at a loss for words is for which many many people thank you exactly and it talked about al story by john was so great because it really kind of dove been as you know better than anyone how a lot of his quote unquote bold and maverick ways back in the day are now sort of appearing <hes> in different forms different machinations different versions but you have the bold maverick owner jerry jones. You have these new innovations in technology which which he was always talking about the emphasis on analytics which at that time was more like coaching trends and use it. I'm sure better than than anyone where that bold iconoclast aspect in the days now rearing its head in different ways today it it is and and <hes> he was ahead of his time and a lot of ways and look. I know you have so many people around this country and frankly beyond beyond that are enormous andrew brandt fans and they should be because the work you do is absolutely magnificent and i marvel by the way i'm gonna make a little footnote aside hi dear. I'm mark how much you do whether it's teaching were speaking or writing you do a tremendous amount of tremendous work but my point in raising how many fans you have is i am well aware that you have fans of all teams and you have fans who hate all eighteen notwithstanding all fans of yours so if some of the people that are listening to this will be raider hater and they will have hated out <hes> and and that's all a lead up to the fact that one of the ways in which he was a pioneer was of course that he hired and fire without regard to race gender ethnicity or any other individuality which has no bearing on whether one can do a job and i i would hope that whether someone hates the raiders or not didn't like out or not we can recognize that that is perhaps one of his greatest pioneering moment for statements. He was indeed and listen. I really appreciate those comments. I you know it means a lot coming from you. I i talked a lot on last week's podcast some personal thoughts <hes> in light of andrew luck retirement because i think andrew luck is going to have a bigger life and more expensive life leaving the n._f._l. And my name's andrew i went to stanford and i'm a bit of an odd duck myself and i've had a bigger life in my view since leaving the n._f._l. And i'm always looking to expand it and those are things i would never be able to do. Work condensed executive for a team as you know so. I appreciate that and i see the same with you. You know not only your media but obviously what you've done. A picks threes so back at my friend. Well thank you and i will take this moment to say that. Although you and i tease one another about our college rivalries stories you haven't gone to that adorable little junior college and how <hes> but again all teasing aside which i'm doing right now <hes> <hes> i i said at the time that andrew luck retire of announced that he was leaving the n._f._l.'s didn't surprise me at all very very reasons you identified. He was the quenches interest central student athlete at asleep for the grant. I'm about to say at a magnificent magnificent university opted. It's just and and it's the truth i mean i t's but look game those game when it comes to school and he opted to stay at stanford to receive his agree to earn his degree at by the way the schools engineering this is not an easy degree nor is it an easy university. I have all the respect for the university that one could have because it does not grade norm for its athletic programs so he is worldly and like you. He is going to go on to have a much much. The bigger lights staying in the n._f._l. Would allow yeah and i talked about what you just said. I was there and speaking in two two thousand eleven. Which is the year. He passed up the n._f._l. Draft number one and there's this kid in the student union leaning over his computer eating some pizza or something with books thrown out a calculator strewn everywhere and i kind of pulled up next to them like wow that's andrew luck and you know i said this is a guy that doesn't have a smartphone. Sagay uncle is his agent. This is a guy who has a book club so i don't say this pejoratively. I just don't think he'll miss football and <hes> pejorative thing about that. I i agree with you entirely and by the way all of my very sincere compliments about stanford aside you wanna bet in ice cream cream on big game absolutely okay because then we would for wins or whoever loses still win that we get yeah. I used to bet a guy on our team when i was there was a backup quarterback. Name rogers bet there was on the next road trip. One of us had to wear the others <hes> other schools colors and the jersey so you didn't hear it for me but there was a road trip wherein rogers the deck down in stanford gear say. It's not so say it's vision. That's all right no knew he was he was a backup up and our starting quarterback on the plane every week wearing cutoff jeans and t-shirts so that's where we're back speaking of the raiders you mentioned you weren't watching and i get it. You know with hard knocks and the going on but you've seen being the drama not the not the drama playing out on h._b._o. But just the drama playing out every day and even before we get get to antonio brown. Just you know what as as someone who was involved organizations so much. What do you think when when you see the team in the news for reasons not involving you know the games and winning and losing or you know as well as anybody anybody who's been involved in the league teams don't like that. They label distractions now. I have my own view of the word distractions. I think that teams throw that around far too. You offense you know iraq wants buying home from the game and a very very very senior assistant coach. He wasn't the head coach but he was sort of the most senior of the assistance assistance had an absolute meltdown because quote we didn't have the right kind of candy bars on the plane and that was a distraction close close quote and you know if you're going to go on a full rant about not having like kind of candy bars and labeling that a distraction. I've got some serious concerns that your ability to coach but that's a pretty extreme example you know as well as i do coaches as a general rule do not like that which they labelled distractions so they don't like shows like hard knocks notwithstanding that i didn't see it. I certainly familiar with all the story lines you can't you know look at social media and not or the internet not not know about this story lines and you know i'm sure it was extra work at camp to have that all become public and teams wish that it wasn't <music> antonio brown's store their home. You know i may well be proven long on us s. <hes> certainly this summer would suggest i am <hes> but when the organization signed him. I thought you know what not just did. I think i said publicly this young man. Dan has absolutely every reason to prove to the world. Hey look. I wasn't the problem pittsburgh. Look at me here. I'm terrific immigrate teammate on not causing any problems or as my grandmother would have said as she off instead of me causing a ruckus. I think the issue at pittsburgh <unk>. I still think that maybe the case once the season starts <hes> but i certainly would have been proven wrong based on this summer yeah and listen. I don't think we can debate. There's no need to debate that he's high maintenance and there's also no need debate that he's gonna be a hard worker in practice and a good player on the field. I think the question becomes what were the raiders thinking in terms of managing him beyond on the field because i get you know we don't you don't have all players that fall in line in any organization and greater talent equals greater tolerance but i just wonder you know jon gruden and mike mayock. What did they expect. You know it's like what was their expectation on managing player and that's what i wonder if this is anywhere anywhere near a surprise to them at this point right and you you know you're <hes> you know. Obviously you know this as well as anyone and you articulated it beautifully as you always do which is they're not mutually exclusive. There can be off field issues news but one can still be a magnificent productive help as a player and you know you you said <hes> talent brings greater tolerance and the expression i always heard in the league was the bus waste perspective people. The bus doesn't wait for everybody and that was you know shorthand way the thing if the team buses are leaving for the airport for a road game and starting quarterback isn't on it that lessons gonna wait for him but the fifty the third man on the roster or someone who's not a big contributor. That bus ain't waiting so yes greater. Tolerance talent is greater tolerance you know as to how jose went into this or with what plan i don't know. I don't know if it was uber on the part of the organization. Which is we can do this. This is us we got this or if they had a concrete great plan or about kind of segues us to the field amy that first of all the off season there are a lot of stores sores this off season. You and i both talked about on on different media platforms one that just stands out to me and is doesn't involve antonio brown and another player at the same position equally as talented name odell beckham. I still am a bit a twitter that the steelers and the giants with huge cash and cap rems occasions to boot decided added.

In Washington Redskins debut, Adrian Peterson eager to get to work
"Two point how many questions you need to answer, maybe team and go back to the Rams example because it's front and center. Maybe they feel like they were bringing back. Same group. We know how this works. We don't. We don't have those kinds of questions. Whereas Tom Brady got some new receivers. He's trying to break in to mention what they're doing on the offense of wine. So it's very team specific. But as you see these teams start scheduling more of these joint practices, Mike referenced that the patriots haven't had them. They see that in some way as a substitute for that game action in a more controlled one that makes them feel a little better about things. And this key for the patriots receiver specifically because they're letting guys go, they're trying to figure out what they're receiving core is going to look like. And it's important for Tom Brady to build some type of continuity with the right. And is Mike Reese mentioned too about the Panthers determining how long Cam is in there because of injuries on the offense of line. If you can't be moving. Okay. So onto Broncos and Redskins the Broncos had to Washington where the biggest story line could be the debut Redskins running back Adrian Peterson who signed with the team earlier this week as keenum has only completed nine of seventeen passes this preseason entering his game with the Broncos NFL nation, Redskins reporter, John. Time is at FedEx field. So when all the injuries that the Redskins have suffered this preseason, especially running back, what's the game plan for AD playing tonight?
