"And the hummel Lennox. Okay. Yeah, two follow-up questions on there. You mentioned trying to anticipate the disagreements of your audience. I don't think many people at least on this show have highlighted that. Why do you spend time trying to think about what is hard to swallow about your passage? I think of trade chain at using John starts metaphor, his great book of honor exists called between two worlds. Maybe you're going to pull it off the shelf. I can touch it, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But we all know and love that book. Right. So preaching a standing between the word of the text and the word of the listener. Okay. And there's a gap. There's a ravine, or a chasm, or a river. Why is there a gap? What is the gap composed of? It could be lack of understanding. The bad answer is this and they don't remember that means. But. I'm in a treadmill. Lack of agreement, right? So they might understand it. But in their heart of hearts, they might be feeling like, is that true? I'm not buying that. You got to be kidding me. And so there was a gap and the preacher who senses a gap based on a scent or agreement has to take his reverse stance as a an apologist, a persuader, a defender, not just a teacher, not just an explainer. That's important, but now going beyond that into saying, no, this is really true. Let me explain to you why. And I think maybe a poster child in doing this great example might be Timothy Keller, he's very good at anticipating and healing their skepticism and addressing it. Yeah. And so your president, as you mentioned, interim pastor of a Chinese American church. And that's not from my assumption about you. That's not your background. How do you, what research are you doing? How are you trying to learn? What are maybe even the unique Chinese American objections or questions or disagreements about every passage or each passage? Yes. I need to do a better job of that, but I have damned things like, I have talked to the longtime youth pastor, and I've said, and I help me get inside the minds here when I say it and the Bible says and such, how do they show that, what kind of experience I've talked to people like that experts or people, I have a leadership team, we call it the core group, I talk to the core with us have I done at that particular church talk to my co pastor there, but in other churches I've been part of, I used to have a Sherman prep team, and I deliberately invited people that represented different demographics and the church. Other person and a young person and the working person. And we would meet about once a quarter, and I would present to them I passages. I might even present to them a particular sermon that I was working on, maybe the big idea, and I would get there input. And they would send me illustrations. And I would hear the text through their ears. So I've tried to get feed forward, not just feedback. So I had done things like that to help with that audience adaptations side. Yeah, did you invent that term feed forward? I don't think so, but I use it a lot. I like it. Yeah, because feedback. On the one hand, it's valuable, but then it doesn't keep you from making those mistakes. It only highlights the ones that you did. Feed forward, that's wonderful. And then I guess, thank you for bringing in those two different church situations and examples. Because maybe the temptation is to see, oh, the Chinese Americans, that's a different culture than yours. So therefore you need to do it. But even if it's other people that have grown up in the same on the same street as you, there is a gap that we need to work hard to fix. And we don't want to assume, oh, well, they're the same. We're all the same here when it's actually not the case. Yeah, I think I've heard you have a common grace, maybe by virtue of being a day, all of us are creating image of God. I think what we have in common is greater than what we don't have in common. And Mike, you've lived in California, live in Ireland. People are people, right? Sure. By the way, chronologically also, the current, they wear the caribbeans. We have the same kind of problems. So there's a amount of commonality in the Bible as a universal document. Having said that, there are differences. Men and women. And different races and ethnicities and age groups, and all of that. So it's helpful to think about the differences also. Yeah, yeah. Well, I appreciate that. And then the second thing to come back to with what you said, as you mentioned, that you consult about, you know, I think 5 or 6 commentaries what you said. And obviously there's so many more than that you could, but you filter through to what might be the most useful. What's that process of finding the 5 or 6 that you're going to use at the exclusion of others? Yeah, I often try to name that I know or series that I know like the my back. And IV AC is a good series, the new international version, what is it, Mike? Apple application, commentary. The white ones, right? Yes. And that's a good one. I often turn to the tyndall series. They're smiling. They're purple. They're good. They're good. Yeah. And then I turned in names that I know, whether it's John stat or William hendrickson. So that's my process of design, it's not particularly elegant. Okay. Okay, so you're not pulling the other seminary staff to find out what's the new or the latest. But sometimes not usually. Okay. Well, this is me. Now I want to pivot transition into, do you have any commentaries you'd recommend on colossians and philemon? Thank you for mentally. And broken up between myself and the other elders. And so I use this for my sermon and then hand it and so this, this has a lot of fingerprints on it because this has been handed from preacher to preacher. Along with some other ones. the names that are moving in the pre market this morning for that we're joined by Bloomberg radio and TV markets correspondent Gupta fresh offer 12 hour nap Fresh off my 12 hour nap folks I got so much sleep You're so refreshed So great Not to brag on a Tuesday but here we are You are seeing some futures higher when it comes to the NASDAQ 100 The S&P features kind of flat But underneath the hood only 16 stocks are actually higher in the pre market So that does tell you that there is looks like to be a little bit of pain here at the opening Let's talk about what is moving to the upside and that of course is going to be this airlines Delta coming out seeing one quarter or first quarter revenue excuse me about 78% recovered compared to 2019 levels That's a big deal because their previous view was 72 to 76% but that news is pulling up delta shares da L is your ticker up 1.1% in the pre market It's also pulling up the other airlines with it southwest for example LUV your ticker up 1% in the pre market UAL is for united up 7 tenths of 1% Even American Airlines catching a little bit of a bid here up four tenths of a percent AAL is your ticket there That's unusual on a day that's pretty risk off to see the airlines actually outperforming also keep in mind you are seeing some moves to the upside and the defense spaces a Lockheed Martin LMT is your ticker up four tenths of a person This looks like a continued bid from yesterday after Germany said it would purchase Lockheed Martin's F-35 warplanes as well as €15 fighters of course we know it is upgrading its military response creating a budget of a $110 billion to modernize its armed forces Of course on the back of Russia's invasion of Ukraine So you are seeing those defense names take a leg higher as well LMT like I said up four tenths of a percent But then there are some downside stories and we should stick to this Those downside stories for example are a lot of the oil companies Occidental zero XY is your worst performer this morning down 4.9% and with it some of those other oil names this really comes back on the idea of lower oil prices perhaps coming back on the idea of the China lockdown in Shenzhen This morning 97 24 is so under a $100 a barrel Ugly morning overnight in the Asian session Very ugly morning and once again it comes down to those COVID restrictions that they're putting in zero COVID policy It also comes down with some kind of concerns that perhaps China is the next country to be sanctioned just because of their ties to Russia and you're seeing that show up in those U.S. listed Chinese stocks The likes of Alibaba for example BAB as your tigger for the ADRs down 6 and a half percent in the pre market JD as well JD is also the ticker Also declining four and a half percent So keep an eye on those ADRs That's where you're seeing a lot of pain Yeah we were asking the question M live I should say was asking the questions My former employer Yeah And where are all "But they were not great offensive teams, and I think anybody who has followed the Broncos even if you don't live in Denver, but followed. The Broncos would say that the three Super Bowl Teams that John was the quarterback of before Mike Shanahan got here. I mean, one of the biggest reasons they got to the Super Bowl, not the only reason But one of the biggest reasons was John's ability to at key times come up with plays that enabled that team to win and all you have to do is think back to the drive game in Cleveland. Right. I mean, that's a 98.5 yard drive to send the game into overtime there, you know, he made a bunch of place, so I I would I understand your point about statistically. I mean, if you look at statistics, only you would say Joe Nameth is not a great quarterback, either. He's in the Hall of Fame, and he's got more interceptions that he does touchdown passes, so there's more to it than just statist statistics. But in my opinion, John would be at the very least the top 10 quarterback, and I think you could make the case. I mean, give me give me Dave. I'd say Top five. Give me four quarterbacks. That you think we're greater players in the NFL than John Uh uh, So Joe Montana. The guy Greenberg currently Was there? Sure. You look just come instantly to mind. I mean, I wouldn't take far How many championships Two Farve win. What one again. He willed himself to Victory over and over and over. I agree. I agree with it. He's the top is the top five quarterback of any era. I mean, you would have to put Brady in there. I mean, my homes is going to be in there eventually, even though he's still a pup. But Montana would be in there. Peyton would be in their Elway would be in there. And there have been some other great ones. I mean again. Terry Bradshaw doesn't You know, I mean, Terry doesn't get a lot of credit. Uh, For what he did. I mean, the Steelers were great on defense. But I mean, Terry made that thing run. Roger. You think Roger's ends up on the top five all time Aaron Rodgers in the discussion. I think I think he's probably going to win another championship. But but I mean, in terms of talent that that guy makes throws I've never seen anybody else make. I mean, maybe Mahomes. But he's got such a unique delivery style. And he's refined it. I mean, that dude is a straight up baller. Yep. You know they've been great ones, and there's so many great quarterbacks over a long period of time era Aras matter. Back in the seventies and eighties. "Challenge you face in terms of this approaching the season and knowing that you have a guy that you're developing for the long-term while also understanding you of a team. That's that's ready to contend right now Yeah you know. I take in a couple of things to have said. And that's why. I tried to make a star with because you're the best chance to win and that's kind of what you owe to an organization. That's that's what yoda you're building. That's what you to all the players and coaches on the team or brining every single weekend. You know whether it's players whether it's coaches was personnel people. You do what you can to win. And if you're not. I don't feel like you're being fair to people i mean. I always try to look at everything as when losses depend on. Where where you're telling your kids going to school at the end of the year and that's a big deal to a lot of everybody Families into the individual. And so you always try to think of when it's your decision. What helps us with and keep it there. At the same time i get Spending the draft picks to get a young quarterback. And you got to do. What's right for that guy to and what has been telephone trae is. He didn't get to play football last year. Earn regardless of what happens. I'm always trying to make sure that trae doesn't go whole another year without playing football. Gonna make sure that we do. What's best for him. Getting him reps on the on the practice field. Hopefully in games two. And we'll see how this pans out. But my order thinking always starts with what's best for this organizational 'cause organization best chance to win and then after that always thinking about the individual so you know he hit on this two quarterback system thing any talked about the challenges between having obviously jimmy garoppolo with him and trey lance being the rookie that you spend three first round picks on to me a lot of this is like i want to slowly ripped his band aid off throughout the season.
