"Lead the series now two to one game four tonight White Sox stayed alive 12 6 over the Astros whose lead is now two one John statler Bloomberg sports John Sean thank you very much Well if you thought today Columbus day was a holiday for the NYSE you'd be wrong We are working today It is now 6 38 On Wall Street let's take a look at some of the stocks some of the names that are moving in the pre market And for that we're joined by Bloomberg stocks reporter pretty Gupta Good to see you Thanks for being here this Monday Hey energy would be a great theme to start off with this morning right Just when you thought that oil prices we're going to take a little bit of a breather Here they are Crude prices crossing $81 a barrel If you look internationally that Brent crude mark up $84 and that is reflecting in those oil stocks on a day John that it's kind of a risk off day in the market right now and you are seeing some of those oil stocks move especially the ones here in the U.S. that have a lot to do with production So these are the names I'm watching Let's start with Hess for example really important to talk about this because these are like I said these are companies that are domestically located so you want to keep an eye on names like has ticker HES shares are up I believe over 3% in the pre market Remember futures are down so that's not even bigger move in that context If you take a look at some of those other names Occidental for example take your zero XY also up 3% EOG Resources up about 2.7% So pretty strong numbers here You also want to keep an eye on those refiners because when we think about energy stocks when we think about the ones that have a lot to do with the benchmark index in particular Exxon Chevron those are names that come to mind but John these are refining names as well They have a diversified business They're not just pumping oil out of the ground They're refining it They're transporting it They have a much more international presence So in some ways that move that you're going to see in some of those really direct production companies like hes like Occidental You're going to see a little bit more of a muted reaction in Exxon or Chevron Okay 30 seconds left a Gritty The market down broadly as you mentioned but one segment attack is outperforming What's that Chinese ADRs I mean it's so fascinating under pressure for so long and now higher after Beijing imposes a smaller than expected fine on food delivery giant may potentially some positive news there if you have Alibaba JD and Baidu all up in the pre market to a tune of over 5% Happy Columbus day Bloomberg stocks reported pretty good Thanks for joining us And ahead of the cash open on Wall Street is a pretty mentioned the overall market indices are all in the red right now that our futures 88 points lower That's down three tenths of a percent right now S&P E mini futures down 17 and the NASDAQ futures are 88 points lower and not trading at the bond market The last yield we saw was 1.61%.

But there isn't really anything new about this being a seasonal, tough period. And you know the slowdown that we've seen from the delta variant or even valuations. Is there anything significant on the horizon that is changing your view? And I think the strategists just looking up ahead, Brian and seeing the fact that a you have dealt Basically denting economic growth. Indeed, the possibility that you know more. In the fiscal stimulus, maybe parade or jeopardized because of the give and take in Washington. Those two basically feeding into baby lower Economic growth and forecasted, maybe in the in the short to mid term. And so with that in mind, and also valuations high and people talk You know, continuing. I think they saw it as a good opportunity to take money off the table because of evaluation. Um, and I think it's more of a rotational call. Actually, then it is On boots, the cash. I think everyone is petrified about missing the debt, So we want to be more defensive sectors rather than in cash is my my sentence. Peter, are we at a point now where people are seriously beginning? Not as you as you mentioned district evaluations, but it goes a bit deeper than that. Surely and this is coming off the back of You could argue. In fact, John Sean Darby from Jefferies does that this what This last earnings season was the best ever in history, and it's likely that this is about as good as it gets. Right. I think that's um that's the way markets react and behave. Um, And if you think that trees grow to the sky You might want to think again. So I think with the idea that you know the economy could be, um slowed down by the by the Delta also approaching The fall and winter season in the U. S, especially in the Northeast and Midwest, where we're more indoors allows for the young vaccinated to get infected. But see where that all leads And I think it was an opportunity again. No, not to necessarily go to cash. But to maybe rotate into more defensive sectors or into Europe or Japan, which you can see is, uh, hide about about the jobs report. The slower hiring a lot of that's put down to supply constraints rather than lack of demand. I mean, there's there's like something like 10 million jobs that aren't filled dumb. But But does it really matter Because not having the workers is still going no matter what the reason is still gonna hurt your bottom line. That's for sure. And I think that's the other.

The idea here was what if you know, one of those shoe gaze rock bands like my bloody Valentine attempted to make an R and B record. Um, I'm not sure that's what's really happening here. I hear echoes of the seventies band Chicago and the Detroit producer Dilla in some of this music. But whatever it is, it's a lot of fun, and this track is called Let the season's work this way. Yeah. Let the seasons work is the name of that song from the British band called the Go Team.

You're artists that just happens to be a businesswoman Like talk about the stigma when it comes to even folks that are older than us not to say that your parents were like that because they actually were business. Owners themselves into like entrepreneurship but talk about like important. Like your social influence or your Your individual influence from your parents or your family members if they are sort of brainwashed into having that one stream of income from their job like talk about why that's not good to be around that circle constantly growing up. I will say you now is not in a sense of. It's a forced allusion of stability in. I will say as a society. We fallen susceptible to the illusion of stability when it comes to the workplace. I'm still working for other. People you know is like we pray. my sacrifice. Our hill are mental for this safety net. Which is actually not one because you could get fired at any en kit laid off I will say now and it's really easy to fall into that because you know like especially in the beginning you know as sacrificed a lot. There are places. I couldn't go there things. I couldn't do because financially. I couldn't do it because i was pursuing art in i was dealing this But i will say and there. There will be those who will try to convince you to convince the gold back in run. Because it's like okay you you left to do what to be polar know because inside the worst thing is being polar your mental state does like can be dying at work with long as you're bringing home a hundred and fifty k. A year you're stable. A you're good and that mentality is so toxic lapel toxic and unfortunately if you aren't careful you will fall susceptible to that Ever some people. That works is just for me. In other news, they're calling it an opportunity in the classroom and through a variety of activities. The activities include things like kayaking, two flying drones to photography classes. It's funded by the program level up SD. It was created by the district in the San Diego Foundation and funded by the Board of Education to the tune of $31 Million, and it will include in person classroom instruction in the mornings at school by San Diego Unified teachers and then activities offered by more than 65. Local nonprofits from all around the city, So it's meant to offset learning loss during the pandemic and also give kids in the district what they say is learning and joy to prepare them both academically and emotionally for the fall. Patent reveals new Nintendo Switch Joy-Con add-on with built-in stylus
"There's not a whole a lot of news but I think the most interesting thing that I read about this week was Nintendo switch. Patent has been revealed and it's a touch pen attachment for joy cots and this patent was is filed in June and we just now learned of it and it detaches the joy con kind of like where you attach the wrist hose. I don't know I lost my. I don't even know what they're called. They just like don't exist wrist bits. Bits ropes yeah. There's a a nub on the end that acts as a stylist it list and it will interact when you're pressing a button or somewhat so they show a picture and you're using the stylus if you press the button the line that you're drawing we'll get thicker and it also has rumble functionality. I kinda dig that. Yeah I did see a picture of that and it seems like an obnoxiously. Large thing the US on a small touch screen. Yeah because you have to hold the entire on holding it like a child holds a Crayon Shin. Yeah that's how I will make Krantz normally find for me. I think grip on it. I'm drowning this I could this mean. Ds Ports Maybe DS support. Sounds like you wouldn't. You wouldn't need like that. You wouldn't need the button functionality. If you're talking to the sports I need a stylus. Yes sorta thing this. Maybe they're cooking up something different but couldn't sell you a new thing if they did that true. That's true that's fair.
