I haven't seen those was from day. Two of our shows history day to z. Not back here in the rich eisen show eight four four. Two four rich is the number to dial Here on the program. Rich real quick. John guys we're talking about decay metcalf and His combine and the forty ended. They overlap it over yours. They did You got a five yard head. Start on decay in the overlay. Wasn't great and he beat you by three yards. Yeah yep yup yep so okay. I just wanted to officially quit. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Chris because i saw during the commercial break. The annual trap door is a trap door every year for the jets this trapped over your last year. The trap door for the jets last year was the entire two thousand and twenty season and and and then just when you thought that the trap door would actually lead to a pot of gold usually the trap door send you to football hell but the trap door opening up last year on jets fans who thought that twenty twenty could be something you know was winning two games when they didn't need to win any sure don't want it Mean those those wins against the rams brown's that'll be something that will sit around and have a beer about half past. Never you know what tom. We'll talk about that at the same time. We tell Our kids when they wonder how much time is left on whatever task we give them. Don't get your pad time. You gotta do your reading. Oh yeah how much time is it. What time is it. How long have i been reading. We susan i tell him half past nanya. What do i mean by that. What a susie mean by that. None your business half past nanya. That's the next time we'll have a beer over those big wins by the jets against the rams here in los angeles and then home against the browns who didn't have any receivers in decided not to run it at all with their best running backs and have baker mayfield try to wing it around against the jet. I don't get me started. Well trap doors open up on jets fans already this year because one thing that the jets fans have been able to be totally excited about other than their head coach and Third our guest bobby. Conn of ali will be perfect to chime in on this but The other that you can be excited about is the general manager building properly here by taking the left side of the offensive line and fortifying the only concern jets fans have had about that left side of the offensive line as it has been regularly beaten like a drum in practice by kara lawson fresh from cincinnati bengals and one of those free agent guys that can come in and robert solid can sprinkle at solid ferry dust atop him and turn him into a star. What happened with the kara lawson while we were talking to john. Schneider chris. what happened here. Know there in green bay practicing with the packers as we know and he went down in a red zone Practice drill an apparent leg injury carted off carted off connor hughes who a covers the jets for the athletic tweeted out. Hard to express how silent this place got. When carl lawson in the unquestioned star of jets training camp went down would be a massive horrific blow to defense. If he's forced to miss time that's an understatement. Don't get started at least the patriots tonight won't just show up on national. Tv with their new storming all around. Hold on a minute. I'm being told that could happen on. Nfl network tonight. Seven thirty eastern. I mean show will go on happen and learn will learn. Not not as bad as though liberty gets quiet. That's those are two things that happened. Training camp that leads to very very poor results for the individual carted off in the team who depends on that individual same stuff we learn about von miller last year. Remember that that foot injury and it's just like it's quiet. Oh my god this one. You don't wanna be on live television. You just want to sit around and curse seriously. I know that's when you. Tj think. that's what i should do my gravitas. Santa's ball it up. Throw it into the trash. F-bomb we'll pay to find the big deal on peak. Even got going. Is that right appreciate it. It can watch so. That's what i'll do the doctor death. Hey everybody kevin clark of the ringer joins us in our number two fresh off his training camp tournament it rich. Did you hear what hell's snooping. Kevin hart were talking. They were talking about peacock. Let's say were di weren't they did as As mr feller told me yesterday he enjoyed my peacock coverage of Race walking where that the guy who's coming around trying to win look like he had a sport a walnut and his butt cheeks just woken up. I was like did i hear that. Yes you did hear that of great. So i knew i knew i was doing the right thing. And when the first show of tokyo gold And the shot sheet was telling me that a caleb trestle.

"I'm sure you've seen the clip of of pd ensure art aired heinlein got got tk to take his shirt off for P to wachner because he wanted to draft them so bad came walking in he was like oh he's took his third off. That was pretty fun moment to but You know the guy. The guy's really passionate. He worked his tail off and wants to be great and yeah it doesn't compare himself to other people. That's a question that you know. We always ask guys so. It's a standard like well. Who do you do you. who do you mean later. Whatever you know. And he's like. Hey i don't necessarily emulate anybody i just wanna i always want to be the best i can possibly be and you know. He's he's he's a he's a again. His father having played in the league is really is really helped him. I think that gives gaz a huge advantage coming out of school john. Thanks the time man really appreciate it love to do this as much as you're willing up for doing and tell peter i said hi That he looks great with his shirt. Off yeah you know. And i'll see i'll see i'll see pistole too sensitive i'm sensitive. I'm a sensitive on air talent. Man that's what they call me at least in my face behind my back. It's probably but i do decay where you ran like were. They showed you running and where he would be in the forty compared to you. Let's just put it this way. It didn't it didn't look good for me but that's okay but we try to twenty atmospheres. Thank you for saying twenty. God was at the two. I mean you know. Did the the network did hat. Try to match it up with me running as he was running down buddha baker to you know and That will that was unfortunate for me as well. But it's all good because like i said i can't get enough of that guy man. I just cannot get enough of decay. Metcalf and i'm going to stop talking because somebody might take him in my fantasy partners up. He he partners one of the most underrated players. Football league to tyler tyler. Lockett and Tyler such a quiet dude. you know. it's amazing that you know big re-signed forest this year to extend an so anyway. I hope you're feeling better rich nights john. I really appreciate you that sentiment and this phone call you take care. You'd be well all right. Take john schneider. Mvp gm seattle seahawks. Right there in the rich eisen show. So what are we. what are we glean about. Ross that roster's loves to compete and be just like those guys and and that ross Is just a ease. He's a voice in the room. Seems like the ad issues and they've been worked out and then they're still gonna play a bunch of weird games here because that's what they do. Well guess what man. It's the brady effect you know. That's what i'm thinking. I think you're right. You win the walter. Payton man in the award. Which but that's the guy who's winning the championship right in front of you right there for a team that just went all in with their roster. And everything's screw it. We're going to go all in and he you know he wants a what he thinks he he he. I don't know man that's decay. And that's tyler lockett and they did they did. They did give this guy two of the best weapons in the nfl. And we'll see what the offense looks like. You know we'll see what the old looks like. We'll see you know. Chris carson's no joke into the offense is similar. Apparently obviously they took from the rams if they run like the the here's three four formations. We're gonna run. Nineteen plays out of the same formation. May have no idea. You're gonna have a pair for. Yeah and that's de que and that's lock it and that's russ deepest end of the pool. The nfc west period end of story. We will take a break and we will come back. And we'll set up. Kevin clark of the ringer eight four. Four two zero four rich is the number to dial good story also on the other side coming up. Hey folks. i've got no more worries about missing package deliveries when i'm away working. You know why. I just installed the amazon key in garage delivery. What i like most about in garage delivery. Is i control. If i want to receive packages inside my garage or have packages left outside my door again. I'm on the road a lot. An amazon key in garage delivery is given me peace.

"So you're constantly listening studying getting everybody's opinions and you know players you guys especially that are so passionate about studying like bobby wagner and a russell wilson and they. They watched so much film there in the mix you know they. They can tell you things that that other people can't necessarily tell you that's like that's why like having you know former players on our staff as well because they can tell you you know certain things that we may not see or just you know where are blind spots are nother moment john schnatter. That doesn't mean you're always gonna that doesn't mean you're always gonna agree right. You know you listen you communicate and you make you know. At the end of the day people have to make decisions. And you know my job is to listen and and You know work with work with pete and and And keep steering the ship. The way we have another moment john schnatter. I've do believe. Pete bristled when i brought up his i went there. I brought up his age. You know because he is as a jim. Brock meyer call. What like the world's youngest student world's oldest teenager is that what he called him in the world's oldest teenager the dick clark. Now the dick. Clark's know where this is with jim brock. The famed of announcer said I brought that up to him and how much longer he wants to do it. And and then. I immediately regretted it. Because i i heard it in his voice like what are you trying to do. Rich is what he said. I think that's what he said What what what can you tell me about about. Pete's long term future a work about working with him every day. Yeah it's it's been the same twenty years older than me and he. There are many days where i feel like i'm twenty years older than him. Right is just a ball of energy. His brain is going a thousand miles an hour Enthusiastic positive You know if you walk in. He calls my office the dentist office. Because i'll have like smooth jazz on watercolors. You know china to study and listen to people. Try to get the stress off right and is often he his office. And it's like you got you got me. You got music playing. You got three. Tv's going he's studying film and he's trying to talk to you at the same time and i always have to say can you. Let's just can we just mute this or my brain my brain. My brain does not work like years. But no he's great man he he He just keeps going and going and going. And and and You wouldn't you wouldn't know it is like my point. He's out there throwing the football. He's got a bad shoulder throwing the ball. Like what are you doing man you know. He's just days is awesome. So he's he's going to be the coach there for a long time. John right like i would think i would think you know. Yeah i have no reason not to think he wouldn't be okay Before i let you go. I'd love a story about decay metcalf about the first time he saw him about Anything i'm so fascinated by him. My kids can't get enough of him just because not only because they they love him on their fantasy teams but you know the different hair color. His choice of mouthguard. Everything about him is fascinating too young and old and i would love story anything that you could tell me about when you knew you thought you knew anything. I'll give you the floor on that. Yeah my son says. He's hilarious on instagram to. I guess attack right the kid. The kids think he's pretty awesome. It's a good but You know i. I think I would think with him. He was such a a an interesting study because he absolutely blew up the You know blew up the columbine so he had so much hype around him There were aspects of his game where everybody kinda picked him apart Our staff to particular was really excited about you. Know just a pure intangibles and his work ethic think you know. He's having his father plan the league. There's a level of maturity about him and so when You know when he was still available we made that move with with the jets or the patriots. Excuse me to go get him. And just i guess just to see the always wanna have buying from from the coaching staff when you make a decision like that and so you know we had a bunch of stuff going on and and Pete was like whoa. He's johnny we're on the clock round the clock. Again on my. Yeah we just. We just traded with the england. We're gonna we're gonna take. We're gonna take my effort here. And he's like mccaskey's voted. We're gonna take mecca for it here in the whole room just like exploded. You know like he's like he has. We're taking half. We got metcalf. So i think that excitement where you have the buy in from your coaching staff. So usually you've seen the clips recall guys all the time and some guys are really excited. Some guys aren't he. Was you know. He was very emotional. you know kinda pissed obviously wasn't taken earlier but I would say you know just like initially. That's that would be like a thought that comes to my head or a story that comes to my head about him because Having the buying from the coaches to really wanna work with this guy and and try to help him be the best. You can possibly well. The i i saw them was at the combine when he did jump out of the building and run out of building and lift out of the building and did all that but he also i believe it was his mom who he them facetime right away because of the neck injury that he bet that caused him to maybe think that he's not going to have a career and then his decision to leave when he did with everybody questioning whether he was viable or not and he crushed it at the combine and he got all emotional. I will never forget that. And then you know the story about what apparently happened with jim schwartz. You know before the game in philadelphia where he said he reminded mcalinden any use that as fired torch them. He's just a totally right kind of player. It seems.

"I think by the way. He's like a lollapalooza. We understand that but you haven't you haven't how come you haven't been on curb i was at not happen. Have you been on. Did i miss it. No have not have not. I was on the league which was a total blast for because know when you play yourself as an actor. It's it's amazing lately though. You gotta give them some about that. You haven't gotten your residuals. I still get out here in. The last one was like sixty two dollars at thanks. It's i'm like you know we're we're at. I know that wife hiding themselves from from now so so not only do we have. We have similar. You know people in common but also You're newsmaker And you're you're somebody in the nfl. Who can also help me out. With pete. i think. I pissed him off a little bit when he was on my show in the summer. I don't know you know. I i don't know if you can. I had to get a how about this one little bit. Okay i might have rub him the wrong way a couple times where i brought up russell. I brought up. Russell wilson and what russell was saying back in the spring and he called it old years he called it old news and i don't think he really wanted me to bring it up or because it was news and i said yeah but we haven't spoken since then and then he allowed the answer so I just wanna make sure. Pete neier fine because there was another time i kind of. I think i might have rubbed him the wrong way. Also which get. He didn't say anything to me about it. I think you're okay so would definitely go to my office and discussing. I'm sure top. We know that what's going on. I i all right so say all it was all i would say about. I would say about that. Everything's everything's great now. I mean russell the guy that you know look you know. Passionate people say passionate things right and so at the end of the season. The thing that i told people behind closed doors is you know. Pe- caroline and In russell wilson during season. Don't have the the The ability to sit back and evaluate. You know the big picture like The rest of us to and so you know it's our job. It's my job in particular to be in our staff at what's coming you know what's happening in the future. So what happens. Is you know when you lose a game like we lost to the rams. Also you know these guys have been embedded every single week on a schedule for how many weeks throughout the season and also it's like they kind of come up from you know You know they just like they like waking up right there like wow. What's not what we would we do. We do now affects the team. How do we get better. And so you know Russ's you know extremely hard worker extremely passionate guy. He wants to win the world championship every single year. Like we do. And we approach our jobs like i said every day like we wanna be a consistent chambered. Up our football team for fans because we feel like if if we're not doing the things to improve our team If you don't give you fans hope like you know look. I grew up in green bay and so there is many times like you know. We didn't see a winning team. Until i was like nineteen twenty years old. I think so You know. I i was always wanted to packers like whoever working over there to have this attitude like. Hey you know like what. What are we doing every day to get better. And and how. We're going to improve. And i think that's what you see at the end of every season And it's not just it's not just You know russell. Or pete it's it's every organization it's Personnel staff to kind of incorporate with the coaches You know where you're going and our philosophy is that we've done it the same way for like you said twelve years now where you know how we're going to be a competitive Or how we're gonna be a consistent championship caliber football team every single year where. Your fans are excited. And so. that's that's what drives it. And i think that's what you saw now was a huge media blitz. Sure and you know the best thing you can do. You know guys that the top me well or just sit back and listen and watch and that's what we did well. I mean part of the narrative john schneider. gm and executive vice president of the Of the seattle seahawks. Jeremy richeisenshow part of the narrative. John was also Ross sitting there at the super bowl where he just won the walter. Pitman year warden well-deserved Watching tom brady win at all. And you know in your old stomping grounds in green bay. The narrative is again a quarterback who wants things a certain way and believes that his say should be louder in the room than it is perceived to the player. That was the general sense of things. You're a general manager. How do you view the viewpoint of your star quarterback in terms of you know you doing your job and getting the roster as potentially the mutton much like everybody else's i mean we're we're a wide open organization. I mean really. We always talk about having no walls. You know we talked about that. I worked with with organizations where you know. The personnel guys aren't allowed to talk to The the scouts and the personnel staff are not allowed to talk to the to the coaches on a daily basis. Or some teams. Don't let their scouts go to practice or you know that's not us. We all work together We have a great staff downstairs with with You know are are part of element people and equipment and trainers and in our sports signs to athletes. That have really cool meeting yesterday where we're talking every every talking about what. What can we do to help everybody. That's here you know improve. And so with with that. I would say you know. Yeah you're definitely you're definitely going to Be listening and and taking everybody's opinions and you know. I look at it very much. Like you know when we're preparing for the draft and and you know we go from having call it thirty people in the room to you. Know fifteen as we get closer to the draft to ten and then a couple of nights before the draft is just there like two nights before the draft pete nye and then and then before the draft..

"Cookbooks out on this is it's made for let ross. This is what you're doing so it's gotta after it hasn't happened yet. I mean you. You know helped me help. You is what i say to. Nfl players sometimes. That was Ross In the middle of his Dynamic first half of last season where we were all talking about. Mvp awards and then rogers is. We know took matters over and into his own hands on that front. That was Russell wilson previously on the richeisenshow. Were back you're on peacock we're also back here on the rich eisen show radio network as well as peacocks sirius. Xm or streaming live on odyssey. You're listening to us on this terrestrial radio station peacock. Tv dot com is how you can get us every single day in other words we are simply unavoidable and joining me here on the rich eisen show for the first time as a solo. Act on this program. We last had him on when the actor john schneider from dukes of hazzard fame was on and we had this man call him but now this is just a. It's just him. He's running this show like he runs the seattle seahawks. John schneider the general manager. Here on the program. How are ya john. Goodrich how you guys doing. We are appreciate you doing this man and i appreciate your your sentiments and I know you don't do this. Gator we have is bogus. There's no do and by the way there's no hazard green lights here man. We're all green lights and let's let's in this car and start driving it and having a good time that go Let's get right. It's bull i. Let's let's start talking about you. Sign in the press. Who's one of my favorite people In the nfl. Jamal adams walk me through that process. And you you Bestowing him with the seemingly richest contract in a safe for safety in the nfl jonah. Well it's awesome. We're glad to get it done You know we traded for them last year. We promised him that You know before we made the trade that we'd we'd extend him in the off season and You know it was a long process but The end of the day we got there is extremely excited. And and Yeah he's very unique player as you know Gagging rush the passer and extremely explosive just brings a huge energy and Great for the locker and great for the building You know he was here he was treating our staff create Working with the coaches and everything we were trying to negotiate a deal. Yeah i mean he. He plays everywhere. I mean you. Just don't know where he's going to wind up and he's in the backfield almost as much as he's in the secondary and You know. I love the guy i i really do. You know a grown up in new york city and he's a locker room guy that can change a culture. Obviously you don't need that but you can use his energy in a certain way and now it's it's w. all around. You could fuel already actually recommend he's had two days out here where he's just been. You know extremely excited obviously and You know just with the players just been great. So yeah we're excited to get that dumb so What what does the general manager do middle of the preseason. What is your what is your day like. I know. I know you laugh. But i i. I want to know exactly where you are with roster cuts in rosters and looking around the league and walk me through what the process is like for somebody like yourself your twelve. I believe right as the gm of of the seahawks what he's like. Yeah so really for us. You know it's all about every day you know. How do we improve. You know when we always talk about winning the day right. So how are we gonna get better every single day. Our staff now we have. We have games this year. We have one preseason weekend in You know we had the first hall of fame game but Which gets over scouted more than any other game and in nfl history by the way to just one game No we We have all of our guys it On our staff year we were great. We have great personnel staff and and Just studying our team every day and studying Other other teams weaknesses Strength and communicating with other teams and seeing if we can You know work on trades and who may be available at the Fifty-three cut this. Here's a little bit unique because we have the three games and we cut down five after the first two and then we go to Then we go to fifty three from there but having to sixteen practice players really really helps us and and so It's really kind of what we're doing is is studying our team every day and then trying to create a landscape for the whole season and when i say that i mean what does december look like what is november. Look like in order to adept at specific positions and Provide their coaches and With with the top you know what we believe in the top players available. You have meetings with pete about this. I mean walk me through that With with your head coach so peed. I talk about our team every day. Pretty much and we'll talk. I mean we'll talk about having going on every position positions. We're concerned about we don't we don't we don't have a level of complacency. Obviously you've seen that over the years rich. We We're constantly working at it. you know we're we're we're constantly talking about where we can improve And you know as we talk about the draft process. We never feel like we have all the answers so we always feel like that improves their communication. And and so what you know what. We look like on the offensive line when we look at receiver. And you know if if this person and that person. So it's always kind of creating this this this short-term landscape for the coaches and then long term for the personnel staff. So the weekend half people ready in in in spots that We're guys are ready to take over it at any position if called upon because you never know when you know a rash of injuries are gonna hit ya. John schneider general manager executive. Vp of the seattle seahawks. Here on the rich eisen show. And you're you're kind of a hyphen guest to john. Because we know a lot of people in common You're you're you're tight with my buddy. Jeff schaffer who's He's a hyphen. It for curb your enthusiasm and dave of the show dave and so so i hear from a lot of people he gotta have jury guy. He's a great guys funny. How come you haven't been in curb yet. He still celebrating a fiftieth birthday..

"Way you envision the rest of the season going out russell. What would it mean to you to win an mvp award. What would it mean to you. I know you're talking about the team. But what what what would it mean to you. do you think something. I think anytime you know anytime anybody wants in dp first thing that i think about is that means that teams went right. I mean the team's doing a great job of winning and doing everything he can. I think also too. That's my number. One objective is to be the greatest. All time wins. Many games as possible in super bowls too. So you best plan my best. Got really great chances. You know doing some special this year not the wrestling has too and so it's a team effort. This game is so special. Such a team effort. Everybody making plays guys like david moore mission that mazen catch the corner to tone in the silent moon walk into the pipeline that that was just a you know that those efforts team moments that allow players do special things and i think know i. I got a credit my teammates on that i think more than anything else though You know for me what it means. It's just that you know all the off-season work all the training all the time you spend all the focus all the hours upon hours all the all the yuna flights you know and things that you've done just to sit down along with somebody and talk to them about the game football and spend some quality time with people i think that's that's where that's where he does moments really Show up. I think i think that all that hard work in all the time shot thrown in a bucket and your young kid you know. All all makes a difference. I think more important though. I wanna win this week. Don't take it on you know. Just stay stay focused and do that. I know that's what it takes to be grazed to stay in the moment. St stay neutral not to get too hot in at high expectations. So are note. Those expectations are so it's nothing new Stayed neutral unstandable eight-man. Thanks for coming on Last one before let you go. Please tell me somebody in the hurt team. You're the russell. Wilson team is working on a cooking show called lent rosca. This right. this is this is happening right. We're working on cookbook somewhere. I don't know. I don't know where it is but somebody our team internally.

"Looked around and then he saw places that wanted him and didn't wanna keep 'em efforts instead. He looked around at other places. I mean that's devante adams that's his buddy who's our third our guest david bach to yari. That's big bobby. Tanya that's the places where. I know how to drive around a minute. Golf cart seriously injured. He's he loves the deep cleaners high. He doesn't love all the reference words were making because he's under a microscope or or or a magnifying glass. But i think after all these years he's used to it. After this year he will be the guy with the most years under his belt in the history of the green bay. Packers as a packer. He's passing both farve and bart star this year in that category. He's gonna wanna go if it all works out. They're gonna let him they're gonna they're gonna be wanting to let him go so i hear that yesterday and this looks to me like a guy who's just still dropping the pret- crump's and does believe like he is going to set things up this year and wanted to be just like last year because that was pretty damn successful except he was flying underneath the radar with all of us assuming he was pissed then we found out he was pissed and now we think he's going to go and he doesn't want the rocking chairs and he doesn't want the derek jeter marianna very yes. Big papi farewell tour one because it might not materialize because the guy that they want and started the clock on cancer the bell in mid august and this is a guy that answers the bell unless his clavicle snapped facts. These are hashtag facts fact. I'm moving at rogers. Last three seasons isn't credible ninety nine touchdowns eleven interceptions the last three years. Eleven while we're while we're going down memory lane. And i just wanna make this point so we're on time for our first guest of the show. John schneider seattle seahawks general manager. Who knows the requisite russell wilson questions coming in his direction That's what makes while we're all going down memory lane here about the jordan love pick. That's what makes the pick even more insane. Because we're all as i mentioned before on the show i might as well repeated here. Were all focused on what happened after. And what rogers reaction was and all the fact that it happened at all. Don't forget mccarthy out incomes. Matt leflore was never done it as h c before in the nfl. And we're all wondering can this guy rodgers who reportedly was calling his own damn plays because he's his own man in his own mind. Can he actually hook himself. Up willingly to the hip of somebody this young inexperienced canny do it canvas leper changes spot. Can this old dog be up for the new trick candy. Doing that was a question. For months they go thirteen and three the nfc champ game they bounce. Because we're he mustered is still hitting his head on the goalpost in that game but that was the lead.

"Are you outgaining team by 200 Yards don't punt at all. And lose a football game. So that when I have to go back and see what the wouldn't be hell, half seriously cold had 445 total Jacksonville to 41 in Jacksonville beat him 27 20. Oh, and no puns and lose. So I want to go back. Go back and didn't see what the hell's going on there. Turn to turn over. Yeah, yeah, I mean, they also do it to and I don't know what their fort down situations were. But that That one was like, so yeah, the Jaguars get up to way Ah. Wanna know? Start in the courts of the cold, still purpose to picks. I want to see what he want to see that that old man. No man looks like a cz. Well, bummer for the Colts is Mac went out with the think season ending in the injury with chillies. Yeah, because he's really good. That's that's part of the reason. I liked him this year. Not just yesterday was Mac and Taylor. I thought were Taylor. We're still gonna have a good year. I think I think so. But I mean, two of them together would have been That would have been like a dynamic group. That's what you were playing with that offense. Exactly so much for that jumped out to me guys was I Y I taped the morning game, which was Seattle game. I will take that game and watch the late last night and Jamal Adams. Now I can see why everybody was so excited about, you know, maybe have bringing him here. You know, he was just incredible. I mean, he he is absolute force. He's every bit like Kam chancellor was for them. So You know that was a great pickup for them and then decay. Metcalf is just getting better every time I see him. It's on Russell's locked in right now, so and in the in Seattle has improved at the line of scrimmage. That draft they get. They got the kid from Ellis, you, Damian Lewis, and he's a force on their line. And then Alton Robinson, the Syracuse pass rusher. I got in the middle of the draft. Looks like a probe or mean looked. He was incredible. Coming off the edge. John Schneider and Pete Carroll still doing it. Well, I mean, listen, you know when When we stop talking about the Niners, but we're still talking about the Niners. The overarching thing to me is The division. Has not gotten weaker by any stretch of the imagination. Oh, it has its Seattle's better. Sandals as good, if not better than they were. Arizona is is dangerous, their trouble and when you allow trouble to stick around as they did, um, did give it you get which is losing. To start the season and the Rams. You know, Tom you had on earlier and I want to reiterate this point. The Rams and specifically, Jared, Golfing at offense are only going to be a CZ. Good is our offensive line. I can pinpoint the exact day the Rams stop being good. It was a couple of seasons ago playing the Bears on a Monday night, and the Bears defensive line took apart dismantled. The Rams offensive line. Remember that year the year before they went to the Super Bowl? They were just manhandling people. Ah, upfront. The bears. Bears took their heart away that night and then offensive line had not been the same way since up Until last night..
Seattle Seahawks soar in the 2020 NFL Draft
"Seattle's great because it and I know produce and some stuff out on John Schneider and Pete Carroll I think the best combination hello John Tyler really given a run right now they just know what they are and they know what they like and they they just got a really athletic linebacker again to replace an aging cagey right to play next above Bobby Wagner then they can move him in the middle after that Darrell Taylor they needed pass rushers the side a couple of guys and then they add this kid to look like clown he's gonna leave and and add to the cardinals the Andre Hopkins in the second round twice a a Simmons and what they did Josh Jones is gonna be a starting right tackle late they already have DJ Humphries at left tackle
Seattle Seahawks preparing for 'unique' experience of virtual NFL Draft
"Glitz no glamour at this year's NFL get together it will be a most unusual and unique draft tomorrow originally slated for Las Vegas but the corona virus pandemic because the league a plan instead of virtual graph from the homes of GM's and coaches for the Seahawks GM John Schneider coach Pete Carroll they've done this draft thing a time or two or ten and Carol says the experience they have will be key yeah I think there is we have a lot of familiarity and and obviously we've been through a lot so many scenarios and all that we feel pretty comfortable at right now we've been doing for so long with the staff and all that junk to work out of these guys though this is this is not uncomfortable for so long we've been we've been doing it you know we've had we've been practicing a whole lot because Randy meeting with the players soon in the same format the always unpredictable Seahawks have the twenty seventh pick in the first round as of this point yesterday the officially signed tight end Luke Willson defensive end Brandon Jackson at left guard Mike Iupati

"Right now man that was handled beautifully they have that all right in the lines get all weird and we're is normally good but not this case I've got kind of a fascination with set ups setups technical set ups even long before this all went down long before the virus hit I've always been kind of fascinated by people's office set ups desk setups Max set ups so we see all these gems coming home and having to conduct the draft it's really interesting to see the weather going about it like John Lynch I saw a picture of his set up really clean John Schneider with the Seahawks tallies got twenty five different monitors he's getting ready Tom Telesco is getting really clean set up and then you've got the lions with a Winnebago outside of queens house that's not a clean set up and again if you have a better idea than that and you showed that's I made a choice thing but if you do not have a better idea than that and man you better I keep that to yourself I would not be telling people at yeah you know what we're good we're ready I've got a Winnebago and my I. T. camped out outside Winnebago you're wrong the only thing better is it the I. T. guy was Dominick Ramos I mean they do live in Detroit can't get enough body guards sign J. in Denver good one J. good one J. good Dominique Rey is reset J. race is amazing story again I'm not here to crack on Detroit I love Detroit am I saying that scan on their good side good town really good sports down extremely proud city great sports fans they deserve better than a GM with a Winnebago on front of his house but they've got a sequester their IT guy apparently and he's going to be sequestered there for three days one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six if you have figured out yet Scott Brooks is out on this segment we are going to move him to a nother spot now the way the show is supposed to set up Charles Davis coming up at twenty past next hour he's an NFL network analyst I'm looking to announce the smack off date at the top of our number three but that could change we are in a very fluid situation right now one thing that probably won't change the German podcast after the program today BJ Armstrong is going to be my guest and again the thing is don't worry about him BJ Armstrong one three ranks plan with Michael Jordan and then he retired from the game and went to work with Jerry Krause as a special assistant so he can speak to all of that and what was like play with Mike back in the day he's a player agent right now and again it was on this day in two thousand four the former NFL or Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan by friendly fire and just as kind of a heads up a teacher I've said it many times over the years Pat Tillman was one of the most compelling individuals I've ever spoken to either are out there either in or out of sports so he definitely had a prominent prominent prominent place on this program and I've got contact then why show later on if you out dots on Pat Tillman you want to share going to sell I've had numerous coaches and athletes over the years on the show talking about Pat Tillman all right so there is our number one we come back with a second hour we'll see what it holds top story of course Gronk coming out retirement to me granted not retire from the game he retired from the hood one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six you're in the jungle I am Jim Rome Charles Davis next hour I'm looking for a spot for Scott Brooks and the smack up twenty.

"Friend John Schneider you know him from his acting career his music of course other famous dukes of Hazzard Smallville and countless others you can see at the end of the broadcast if you're watching us on Facebook periscope any social media outlets you're gonna actually see the musician side of John Steiner would we went upstairs and jammed around we are good times you're gonna see that in just a moment by one of we were talking about the Duce will talk about Smallville to could you draw connect you mentioned the fact that if you go a mile down the road for our studio it kind of is the feel of that but do exactly why I'm so hazard yeah so talk to me and tell me about the car for a moment the the car was a Dodge charger was in nineteen sixty nine Dodge charger you're not gonna believe us yep I didn't was not orange I had then I would be it was in the seventies I had a nineteen sixty nine Dodge charger no yeah it was actually my mother drove it and then went to college here so I had I had the Dodge truck to get you know I tell people that have one don't you I do we have to get home I told I told people that that that when I first saw the generally and I saw daisies road runner right I was that I was thinking please god let the road runner V. my car because as far as I was concerned the charger was was an old woman's car from not pardon me mom it was an old lady's car haven't you dragnet yeah right right it was his big boxy thing which which made it really easy to slide around corners he thinks it was a perfect car had a great door so you can get your **** on there is light in the window but I do remember thinking oh my gosh I just as a car but I tell you if you go a mile from where we are now if you go back to drive in Nashville not on sixty five drive back there it will look exactly like the dukes of Hazzard so the view that people have in two thousand twenty the overwhelming majority of people in this country have the same view right now that they did when they first watch the show in nineteen seventy nine I mean if you watch it today the only thing old about the dukes and actually our cars were already old when we did it the only thing that dates to serve has it all if you live a mile from here is the cars what do X. was so much fun we started in Georgia in filming in Georgian seventy eight and then we moved to California so that it could be or they moved us to California once they realize that it was a a bit of a hit a force to be reckoned with that they wanted to be closer to it so they could kind of micromanaging yep so we go from Duke's which is this you know iconic women you do another one this iconic which is small but what your Smallville rush moment was two thousand one through two thousand eleven in two thousand one of course you've got you know tragedy in America only small but when that happened okay I was in I was in Vancouver British Columbia that when that happened yeah and my brother flies for delta he's flown his phone for delta since since seventy eight since we started Duke so that was my first call make sure he was okay yeah yeah yeah whatever yeah yeah yeah I use the kids over there and and again I know I'm Jonathan Kent I'm raising the boy who will be Superman right but we don't know that and there was something about living on a dirt road something about a windmill something about having to walk down some dirt and gravel to get the mail in a similar sense to do extra very very similar to Duke's something about having cows to milk cows to feed cattle livestock working in a work gloves I re I recall when when when president trump was running for president they talked about going to the we're cracker barrels right and it made so much sense to me because that's where people who work hard go to eat right because you know uncle Herschel's favorite they got they got more food than they can eat but my god it's been a tough day and I just would like somebody to bring me a Cup of coffee run some biscuits and gravy death and that's the crowd that and that's what I am that is the crowd that loved Smallville and it authenticated that this child Clark Kent could later become Superman it authenticated in dukes of Hazzard but if uncle Jesse if uncle Jesse said don't jump that car it'll break yeah I know he said stop jump in that car you're gonna hurt yourself right because he said that we believe you believe everyone believes that the generally could fly right so there's something that authenticates real humanity about for me about a dirt road yeah Smallville's on for what seven years six years it was on ten you can use okay I was on a R. five and then I did I did the last year as well yeah great question back at the end yep the crown jewel I think of the Smallville I'm part of the Superman franchise yeah so it's a great great great time it was two twenty ten twenty eleven twenty eleven and and now I do the I'm right seven years I've been on the haves and have nots Tyler Perry show on the Oprah Winfrey network right playing a nasty terrible guy I'm a bad guy which was not the Bela uses a voice right so I it's it's kind of like my Dallas it's kind of like what Dallas must've been for Larry Hagman yeah I dream of Jeannie another iconic bright no how does it feel as an actor then you look at your role that you played you you in the what you're known for as an actor are these usually iconic moments in American history I mean these are oil bless you know but it's true it's I mean it's some it's people not only can relate it's it's a I conduct it today I mean people talk about these broadcasts these programs yeah well I think they ring I think they ring true to an audience because they rang true to me I I won't I try to never do anything that I don't like singing a song yeah if the song doesn't make the hair stand up on the back of my neck or make me laugh for make me cry it makes me cheer or make me angry I don't have anything to do with yeah so if a role doesn't ring true somewhere in me yeah then I won't I won't be interested I won't do it but you know there's a lot of all of us I I acquaint people save actors and such an interesting thing well we're all we're all kind of a color wheel yeah and we have a dominant color naturally right what actors have the and I think lawyers should have the ability to select what that dominant color is yeah we have all of it but we select that and that for whatever time can you turn on in that acting K. you could put up a different color depending on the broadcast don't actually see that's what I will need to be made the analysis the lawyers I think that's you know there's the book that I like I said this to do in interviews there's going to be the I had the Jay Sekulow had only Bob Muller moment rice is different kind of lowering the sense sure then I had the impeachment proceedings which was like a trial so you have a trial site the trial color yeah and then I've got the Supreme Court stuff which is completely different well then you've got you've got whatever you know like a pendulum will eventually stop in the middle so your dominant color will eventually just kind of show up when you're hanging around playing golf with people you love yeah right so that's your dominant color most people are one dominant collar yeah but the sense kind of California here but you get it right yes so what actors and lawyers and people that week we can dial in that dominant color as needed right and then we'll go back to and it's not lying by the way Michael said well that's like no you guys not get multiple it's just a different shade because it's needed right now yeah and I think that's a that is the gift of lawyering that's the gift of logic that's the gift of acting or telling a story if you're just joining us my guest is John Schneider who by the way in addition to being a great actor is a great musician a great singer let's talk about your music you got it that's out now yes from my friend Keith burns and I were talking about about the lunacy that we that we were witnessing and how how people can't how can you not understand Nancy how silly this looks and there's an old saying in a poker game but if you can't find the sucker at the table with you yeah so that's that's how we started writing writing John Schnatter but I was I'm keeping it in the well you know it it it it's true so so we wrote this song but with another gentleman who his name escapes me we we wrote it texting yeah right so I was like wow this is great this is great this is great as we deletion I travel so much but so we wrote the song about a poker game with the other side was so sure that they were going to win that they couldn't comprehend that I had the winning hand because I've got my trump card but you can keep that ace there up your sleeve right because when I'm holding back a hand like this it's all I'll ever need I've got my trump card yeah I don't need to ace in the hole because I'm holding on to something good as gold I got my trump card yeah and it may like to to you know I knew I knew our president a long long time ago when I was doing it when I was doing Broadway right and it's it's I was so delighted when it it looked like he was going to run because I knew if he ran because I hang around with practical people yeah Iran was some people that aren't aren't that practical too and and and and the difference between me and them is I don't hate them so so when he when he was running I told my brother who is the mayor of Stamford New York and Milan wanted it and he and I feel exactly the same now I said he's going to win he said I think that would be great but I mean there's just not there's not a chance and I said don't listen to your friends listen to the people he is going to win you mark my words we were ahead well and and yeah so I'm I'm delighted so the trump card song is is our way I'm trying to add a little bit of levity yes which is better but if you can't laugh at yourself yeah right you.

"Sorry we have the link to watch Jay Sekulow and John Schneider performing trump card tonight at eight o'clock so you can not see that on YouTube there's a link at Phil Valentine that comedy show prep at the very last thing now that means anything it's just easier to find his very last thing so it is a Valentine show by the way six one five seven three seven nine nine eight six uber in exclusive interview with Phil Williams a channel five opening up about what's going to happen with the possible property tax increase of more than twenty percent and so he's asking ME says what's going on here in the mayor says well is the worst in metro's history as far as the budget situation there's no question about that because of this call with nineteen crisis and the feds in coming to the rescue the federal relief program is fundamentally not going help national with its budget shortfall that's because restrictions placed on the program prohibited from being used to help any for anything which is city government previously budgeted such as police fire in schools so cities have to deal with that revenue lost on their own and so it looks like they had budgeted almost four hundred and seventy nine million dollars each year in local sales taxes now that's expected to come in at three hundred eighty three million a shortfall of ninety five million other taxes licenses permits budgeted a hundred ninety two million not going to be a hundred thirty five million they think shortfall of fifty seven million the total expected shortfall now projected to be just under two hundred fifty million dollars that money will have to come from cash reserves which the mayor said will need to be replaced in the next fiscal year so here's the deal I don't get too personal with you but I mean we're all in this together so I'm gonna share with you I'm taking a pay cut to and a pretty sizeable one and I'm doing this because it's the thing to do for our company in a lot of you folks are having to do the same things either furloughs some of you folks are in a worse state than they had your you've lost your jobs but I'm not getting a stimulus check and I'm taking a cut and so one of my going to do well what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna have a go fund me save the Bentley Bob program but no I'm just kidding about that what I'm gonna but that's what her K. Walker he said you you really want to endear yourself to the listeners get your go fund me save the Bentley program know what I'm gonna do is what we should've done a long time ago which is to tighten their belts I mean I got my American Express in and it was by about half of what it normally is because we're not eat now we're not doing this we're not buying that we're just staying home and so I'm gonna have to make it up you know I mean in the way as they make it up I will have to cut so I'm no different from a city am I I mean to me it will lot of us are taken pay cuts why don't we go to everybody else that's working for the city and so you gonna do the same thing I know some of you folks in the city and work for the city throwing stuff on the radio right now but this is the sad reality of what we've just gone through with closing the the entire economy down for a month and a half and it'll be you know close to two months when this thing is all said and done we're going to have to bite the bullet I mean I'm doing this to try to help the company survive you should do it to help your city so survive but you know we got unions and this and that that's not even being broached is it and I you know it's not for the entire year it's for appeared of time but I got a guy just for the life of me don't understand why the people are getting money from somebody's paying them are doing the same thing our let's go back to the Prescott I'm as good as now it's getting good because but trump is talking to the press that's a saying this week that the coronavirus likely.

R. Ewing she'll I'm a bad bad man and and people go yeah I love the bad guy but you know I I I I loved beau or you'll always be voted me which is you know it's fine it's fine to me we just did a movie that was very successful for us here and we're independent filmmakers set that John Schneider studios in Louisiana and we made a movie called Christmas cars which is about a guy who was on a show forty years ago and drove the car and climbed in the window rebel flag on the roof I mean you know it's it's that and it it did great so I embrace it and next month we're starting a movie we're going to do a movie that's called stand on it that is basically a a tribute or not or what have you to smoke in the band at school which is a movie that I was I was in because I climbed over a fence I skipped school climbed over a fence and convince somebody with the radio that I belong there and you told me you were in smoking the bandit I'm I'm in it as a as an extra I'm in the yeah I was there they gave me lunch they gave me make up nice you know I spent the day in this is a this is in the book which is so cool hello I look back at my life and I spent the day with Jackie Gleason before anybody had ever heard of fuel for the just right the day with him because he had a high he's not from west your Westchester county New York but I am he he has a house or had a house in Westchester county so he and I spent time talking about now remember I'm sixteen years old we're we're spending time my my intro to Jackie Gleason was I knew where the white horse was which was a bar in just go right so this was why the legendary Jackie Jackie Gleason later cure for to justice and I spent an afternoon talking to one another on the set of smoking about it so it's it's it's it's a pretty cool life when I look back at it you know and and much of it centers around to that city yeah why not so what so I am the guy before dukes I am the guy who skip school and climbed over a fence and talk my way on to the set and the make up that I did have a bacon egg and cheese sandwich compliments of like I think it was universal I am that guy and I'm also the guy that when I went and auditioned for dukes of hazard I was eighteen from mount Kisco New York and they were looking for people twenty four from world Georgia right and I am the guy that walked in with a six pack of beer and open one up on the couch in the waiting room and drank it you know I am that guy that's a lesson on people out there grab a six pack of beer to your next job interview you probably get it I I I haven't interjected up much in the interview and I normally do but I haven't because it's very very interesting and I'm a I'm a big fan of yours also there's a little bit delayed I don't wanna talk over you let me remind people name of the book it's the autobiography John Schneider my life my way and it's his first ever memoir you hear stories like you just pulled a Jackie Gleason and so many more I had no idea that you were in smoking the bandit now I'm gonna go and watch a movie I can look for you the background John also he's got no well yeah well the inspirational album recycling grace in the southern rock project redneck out rebel if you don't mind rebel yeah I just want to get into the very quickly don't spend tons of time on it but obviously there was a big controversy about the rebel flag on that car and and that networks taking to show off the air did you have a thought about that your opinion about that I mean to you this was a particular group of people I mean why freak out over this one we knew what the show wasn't really loved it it was about racism well it was not about racism exactly and I I am I want to say I'm offended because you know everybody's offended about everything through I am perplexed I am perplexed when large corporations like TV land no large businesses that do very very well seem to feel that they need to file down to a really obnoxiously loud minority of people have a problem with something else I I have never met in the wild a person who is head of of of any color you know black white yellow green I've never had anyone actually come up to me and say you know that car is the universal sign of racism and intolerance right never now I've seen on the internet I've seen a lot of things on the internet that are just not not only not true but do not represent the majority of people's opinions right so I don't take them very seriously so when someone like TV land or when when someone takes a show like the dukes of Hazzard off and yet leaves the Jefferson on exactly it makes me wonder well they they give me the bull and I thought we were in a society where we don't give in to bullies they did exactly that it was a small minority of people I don't and I'll be right racial minorities is a very small group of very far left people who attacked the show that is an icon in the United States of America those characters that car that scene Hazzard county for god sakes was iconic and how do you make that go away because a couple people squeak their wheels it's weird right right and also I mean if it is it is absolutely arguable that the dukes of Hazzard was not only one of the greatest family shows of all time true but it was also one of the most color blind shows of all time great because if there was anything any any racist undertones in the dukes of hazard bye bye full loop or daisy cooter any those people uncle Jesse would have kicked our **** because exactly right because there was no more wonderful human being I don't think ever depicted on television yeah then uncle Jesse three mile stretch your wonderful I've got to get out I'm gonna go over time we will get another minute or two and again this little Catholic so I apologize for talking over you John Schneider my life or my way get his book first ever memoir and it's eight stories that you're hearing right here on the program a long form obviously also people don't know this but you you also co founded with Marie Osmond a child the children's miracle network which is amazing you amazing work hopefully we can get you back on to talk about that that even more the children's miracle network is amazing go going checking out John Schneider studios dot com AT junction other studios on Facebook or at John underscore Schneider on Twitter but
