"And so much more. She ziplined and we're gonna talk about that right now, Ashley, welcome to life transformation radio. Thank you so much for having me, great, great introduction, great summer. I love it. Wow, so that's a lot. And that's not all of it either. Just recently in 2020, I was in New Zealand and I was actually in a second car accident that eerily paralleled this first accident that the paralyzed me. That this time I stayed awake, I only blacked out for a second, but I was conscious as the car was rolling down into a ravine. And I had a crawl out of it, literally, because now I was paralyzed. So I crawled out of the ravine and was able to hail the one car that I saw on the side of the road and get it out alive. Wow. Can we go back to when you're 14 and just have a little conversation about what that was like? Yeah, yeah, definitely. So it all kind of started the first accident. Hopefully, hopefully that's hopefully that's it now folks. Yeah. The first accident, the accident that initially paralyzed me, I was 14. It was two weeks before my 15th birthday, and my family was driving to Colorado for a family reunion. My mom doesn't like to fly, so we decided to drive. And on the way, we were on the border of Utah and Nevada and we hit this monsoon rainstorm, something that I never experienced before. It was bright and sunny day, and then all of a sudden it was just black. All around us and just buckets of water coming down and lightning striking fairly close to our car and my mom turns around and just says girls are the bad feeling about this. Make sure you have your seatbelts on, and I said, hold on, mom, like I dropped a CD, and I uncooked my seat belt. And right then and there are car hydroplanes and sheet of water basically appeared out of nowhere on the road and that's when our car hydroplaned and spun out of control and down into a ravine. A real real steep ravine. It's amazing to me that anybody actually saw us because you really had to be stretching your neck down far and below to see where our vehicle was. But I was thrown out of the vehicle because I didn't know my seat belt on, but I was actually on the same side as my dad and this may be all speculation, but the investigators said that since I was on the same side of my dad, based on the damage of the car, it was very likely that myself, too, what it would have been possibly killed on impact or maybe even more messed up. So I was throwing the back of the vehicle car continue to roll my mom passed out almost instantly. Her legs were completely crushed underneath the dashboard. My dad was killed on impact his neck snapped immediately. And little sister, her elbow did a full rotation and she broke her ankle, but she was awake when the car stopped rolling. And she could hear me swearing in the distance somewhere, and she tried to crawl to find me, but she ended up passing out just near the car, like in the glass, not before though, she tried to wake up my dad and realized you know that he just slumped over and he was dead. So she passed out, we were all aligned there for a couple of hours and this car came by. Like I said it was on a main road and nobody saw us. And guy named John sauce and saw the vehicle went down assess the situation. And heard a man's voice. Basically, and he didn't felt like he was being pushed into the direction of where I was. And this is something that he was very, very clear about you need to go over here or something in that regards. But there I was black and blue, not breathing, black and blue, not from bruising, but just because I wasn't breathing. And so he turned me on my side and got me breathing again and called the ambulance and such and we were airlifted up to the Latter day Saints hospital in Utah and I was actually on the plane for on the right over there. I died once. And my little sister was there right next to me so she got to see her wonderful older sisters kind of get stripped down naked and had the paddles on her trying to come back to life so that it's a nice fond memory for her. And then later on at the hospital too, I died that night as well. And they were just very real, my mom they were just like, I don't think she's gonna make it, you know? It's not looking good. But I made it. I came back and I. When I came to, it was odd because I knew what had happened. I knew, but I couldn't really put it into words, so to speak, like, I knew my dad was gone. Did he like, yeah, he wasn't here. He wasn't here anymore. I knew that. And of course, I was heavily medicated. I was on morphine. So, you know, I wasn't super traumatic and I had a breathing tube in because one of my lungs collapsed and the other one was punctured, and I had a broken clavicle and a bunch of broken ribs. And then my spinal cord injury. Other than that I was fine. I didn't have like I had like one scratch on my leg. It was really like pretty much nothing. Oh yes, and then also my head was split open too like a grapefruit, so at least part of my head split open like a grapefruit. So that was all stable together. And so I woke up on drugs, a lot of drugs, and like I said, I knew my dad was no longer here and I didn't know the word paralyzed, but I knew something was wrong. Something was wrong. I couldn't move my legs, and trying to just wiggle my toes. I knew something was wrong. And so I tried to call the nurses and the nurses are just like, oh shit. She's asking questions. We're not like, we're not, we shouldn't be the ones to tell her these things. So they were trying to wait till one of my family members arrive, my older sister who wasn't in the car accident. Thank God. Until she or my grandmother were able to come into the room and kind of explain what had happened. But basically it was just my grandmother just confirming what I already kind of subconsciously knew somehow. Well, okay, so that's a lot to unpack. Yeah. I just gotta take a breath. That's a lot. And that's just the start. That's just the start. You know, and then going to rehab and so you can't fire them? Well, let's just take it one thing at a time. So first of all, I'm sorry for the last few fun. Yeah, he was amazing and amazing father man coach community leader coach me and my sisters and multiple sports throughout the season was just like a good wonderful human being. All around. Really great dad. Well, I'm sorry for your loss and also my heart goes out to you and your family. It's a lot. Yeah, especially all one time. And I'm thrilled and as we unpack your life here, how it's amazing how, you know, you're still here. And that's a lot too, and even in 14 year old, I'm.

"In the last few days and the former president put out saying this election was rigged. Democracy is not a football. You don't throw it around. It's more like a. I don't know antique vase can and smashing a million different pieces. And that's what we're capable of doing if you don't stand up to meet the moment and push back somewhat tempted to recall that metaphor but ultimately this election is about the nature of the republican party. Right now i think and how it cannot reach. Certain portions of americans huge swaths just failing to reach them isn't even trying to my very favorite anonymous dog. On twitter. south pop pointed out that the only reason republicans went for the recall in the first place is because it gave them a shot at a fluke outcome. They otherwise had no shot at because they are so unpopular in the state there are rump caucus when both parties are serious contenders in california's ordinary elections. The recall is into attractive. They have better uses for their money in their own office. Holders to protect but for california republicans who are mostly hopeless elections. Utterly shut out of government looks pretty good. So that's what happened here the california. Gop lacking better options tried to shoot the moon now. Republicans put up a bunch of candidates in this race and the most plausible rate from a resume. Standpoint in terms of the state was the former mayor of san diego. That guy governor of kevin falconer. And you know for republicans he's a. He's a moderate he. He supports a pathway to citizenship. Before undocumented immigrants he describes himself as pro choice which all that sounds like a potentially attractive candidate in california which is a pretty liberal state democratic dominated. How'd he do well that well. He did not even get ten percent of the vote. He came in third among the candidates. Trying to replace governor newsom with just eight point six percent. Because here's the problem. The republicans who came out to vote and the recall. They don't want someone like kevin falconer who's actually governed. There's a plausible statewide candidate. No no no no. That's what they want. They want the right wing radio. Host larry elder who got forty six point eight percent of the vote. That's the problem. Republican party base wants a right wing radio host who opposes the minimum wage has no government experience. They want him to run the fifth largest economy in the world. The citizens of that state california do not want that by any means. That's the state of the republican party. Right now that's the dilemma. Face katie hill is a former democrat congresswoman from california. She's founder of her time political action committee supporting women in politics and the author of she will rise becoming a warrior in the battle patrol equality and stuart. Stevens is a veteran of five. Republican presidential. campaigns also happened to work. Chris christie's two thousand nine gubernatorial race. He's author. It was all ally how the republican party became donald trump. And they both join me now. Stewart him start with you as someone who's running a lot of racism one thing. I think it's important when you're analyzing elections is there's you know who wins and loses which matters a lot for the governing perspective. But if you're trying to look at trends there are there are losses that are good losses if things swing eight points towards one party from the last time but you still come up short you can say hey. We made some ground here. I remember john sauce special election that first. Big one it down in georgia. you know. He didn't win but clearly. There is a movement. I don't think you can find a single silver lining in this result for the republican party. Honestly no it wasn't that long ago where california was the beating heart of the republican party. It was the ideological heart. It was the electoral college citadel. And now the party bounces between third and second place. Independence knocked down the third place. Halton and more importantly. The party doesn't have any role in any major decisions that are made about how to govern california. And you're absolutely right so do crazy stuff like this. It's really a classic race about neil. Ism there was nothing this race was about. Except what news. Madan matz to protect the citizens to california so it was sort of like a referendum death. I mean i'm glad death lost but what does it say about a power. If you really know ideas there. I this is the party that wants prided itself on saying we are the party of ideas. I was absolutely no idea that all katie you represented you won a swing district. The twenty fifth district in california. It's swing district and the your successors were republican. Joe biden. Carry the district republican. Mike are also represented that district by the way mike garcia who voted against the electors. The one of the first things he didn't in congress which is shocking to me. The no one your old district by nine points. Which i think is really interesting. What does that say to you about the politics of this about the politics of this moment in a district that is a swing district. I mean i think what it really shows you that the republican party the way that it is is it's a it's a lost cause in california lost causing moderate areas so when you have candidates that truly embrace this. This trump ideology this of of of frankly insanity i mean i don't honestly don't know another way to put it then that's not gonna succeed in in areas where most people are reasonable. What i fear in what happened with my garcia is he. He did not run. As a crazy i pray. That wasn't the way that voters were turned on him in the first place and i think that we really have to watch this as we go into the midterms and the thing that will kill republicans as they have the best odds going into getting the house. Again is their own primaries. And if their base continues to try and put forward people who are lunatics than did not going to be successful so it really is a matter of whether they are able to gerrymander redistrict into capturing that anyway but if they keep putting forward people like larry elder by their own base is choosing. Then it's not gonna work elder falconer story to me. Stewardess is such a story about the modern republican party because he thought wagner. Here's a big city mayor if you draw up a plausible resume for a who conjure over republican. That might have a shot in statewide general election in california. You know he sort of matches but they're just zero desire for that dude republican as none whatsoever and if there's none.

"It was just like yeah way too way too often dog treatment. Yeah i will say though. I got the slices and stick plan to aronie so i do like this most most a chain pizza places. I don't care for the breadsticks. But i do feel like the cheese sticks at little. Caesars are a delight their garlicky either. Buttery they get a lotta cheese in that crazy sauce which is just a marinara sauce. Especially if you warmed up a little bit is is great for dip. So so the slices six plant plant. Aronie get or any other slices in six pizzas. You get four slices of pizza. And then the other half is eight italian cheese sticks and i got one of those and i will say those cheese. Sticks were delightful. I really liked them there. I've always consistent that. I thought i ordered. And then i didn't So i i will say. My favorite bite of the nights was very first bite. It was the cheese stuffed crazy bread. Did you have you had that. I don't know if i've had that specifically rope of cheese. It's almost like i'm the diameter of like a string cheese like crazy bread off. Look it up now yeah software. It was like melted. And then you dunk thousand some crazy saucer and we got that buffalo ranch and we were kind of dunkin our dunkin the plane ranch but that was good. I mean it had the got garlic powder on that gives. The i think that is the best bite at little caesars that dipped into that that sauce plant or plant aronie. And these were not available at my at my little caesars. That i did not i could. I couldn't i couldn't get either of them But yeah no. I i want to the little caesars in roslindale and And they weren't available there. But i like the crazy red wise. My mom didn't like it. She she was. She was not a fan. But i thought i thought the i think the there are a little too crazy for her. But but i. But i i think that they either. They're pretty decent as far as because like a lot of other breadsticks. you places. They're not like buttery or seasoned or whatever and like are kind of like just like hard cold messes. Here's what i will say though. And i think you guys will agree with this. Is that that crazy. Sauce should be heated up somehow ended up. it comes cone ice cold. Yeah it's cold when you said that why i was like yes. Why didn't i think of that. I ate a whole meal with ice cold. Yup tracey sauce. It's like and even said it's like it's cold god better if this was a cold as if the technology didn't exist up genuine meal based on you know there wasn't instructions to warm it up so we that's true. John sauce intended to be ice cold. No real instructions on how to eat it. So i like kinda just like i wrote. I actually think that's a fair point. Though i think of it included like a little. I think it should say a little thing on. The plastic tenant comes in. The plastic nightmare comes in that. Says like hey this is. Microwaves even said microwave safe on it. Even if just some sort of indication that like oh yeah maybe i should warm this up because it is honestly a lot of a lot of chain pizza places if you order like whatever it will come warmed up and saying the box with the pizzas. So it'll be insulated. Yeah yeah this this comes. Ca comes cold and a lot of their other. Sauces are just kind of like you. See the sauces behind the counter. I want i went and picked this up and it was like the sauces. Were just like in like a like a like a on a shelf behind it. Just kind of sitting there including the crazy saas but mine was cold so i don't know if mine was refrigerator but there was just some crazy sasha's sitting out basically which i don't know if is is great but there was a lot of things to dip i went. I went with a lot of stuff stuff. Why what did you. What did you get wives. Well let's talk about the crazy calzone. Each was which is an item that i got. And i know our guest scott and mitch. I assume you got one of crazy. Cows offered in your speaking of cold. I got one of the crazy. Cows tony's who well dave mersa. What did you think of this bad boy. I i took a bite of the pizza. And i thought okay. That's finance pizza. And then i went around the back end to see what was going on with cal. Zony portion describe it. Maybe it's kind of like a pinwheel almost not like closed like a cow's zone like the center is pizza and then it kind of like blossoms into like a lotus of like of chee because there was a meet one and a cheese when you've got the cheese and it blossoms with this. I can't remember what how the what they call the sauce. What do they call that. Cheese sauce macau's zone part garlic white sauce the size of crazy sauce for dipping it. I found that cr- sauce that sauce to be very Come like that's.

It's just great. You know. I think i think that you know i. I kind of joked about it but i think the poker players complain a lot about about race about structure about you know everything because we do want to just be able to like basically play for free with our long levels where you know we get all we want everything. But i'd like it to be six handed please and like there is some sort of balance in there that we've become aware of and cognizant of that you know you're going to a business. They're paying people to deal to you. and There's a whole infrastructure and cost involved with doing that. So it's really good to think about that. And it's really good to understand that people like john who are for cognizant of that and are trying to work creatively to you know still create player friendly environments structures and Kind of listen to players. Want so i was a great conversation is interesting. Against where else do you have the same gonna go in. I'm gonna. I'm gonna order sushi under the i don't three roles or something. We have the iPad Foundation giving away ipads to our veterans and our soldiers out there. And let's start with Dr Stiles. Steve Case of what's going on in the skies, Doctor Sky Steve case. How are you? I'm doing great. Yeah, I want to wish you and the listeners happy Hanukkah. Merry Christmas and happy holidays. And she right, John. We need a little bit of enthusiasm and positivity, right? Yeah, and we need something on the light cycle, he said. You know, and Monday through Friday, the news is never good. That's right, John. And now here we go with some really stuck. Good stuff to enliven people's spirits. You know, John and everybody out there If you go out and get at least to a dark places, pesters you can John. We've been hearing more and more asteroids and Meteors coming toward the earth. And the reason for that. Real simply is the technology's gotten better. We have better telescopes better cameras, but here's something that everybody can see if you look into the skies this weekend, starting on Sunday night. The 13th, the one of the best meteor showers of the year. John is going to take place and it'll pour forth Meteors. This is all debris from comets. It's called the Geminid meteor shower. All you gotta do is find the best clear spot you can Because the moon John will not be in the sky. That's good. So there'll be no excuse. All you need is clear skies and dress warmly in the Northeast after midnight on Sunday night into the 14th. Meteors will rain and some people are estimating my prediction is probably 20 to 50 m per hour. This is one of the best showers and this is stuff you don't need. John. You don't need a telescope. You don't need binoculars. It's just a fun way to kind of celebrate and Maybe show kids and show family members things that they like You said. We need a little more positive things going on. So there's one for you. Wow. And how big are they? I mean, can you hurt somebody? Well, John know the history of these meteor showers is great. Good question, because no, they don't hurt people. At least. Generally, they don't. They're about the size. Get a lot of this of about the size of a piece of beach sand, little grain of sand. And they're traveling at about 130,000 Miles an hour. So what we get to see is the end of their life, These little specks, but sometimes John, we get to see these bigger ones. Which indeed do strike the earth and not to scare people. It's very rare because most of the world is covered by water. But there are instances John where people One guy was sitting, I believe in Alabama and he or she, I think in her home She was watching television. This goes back a long, long time ago. And asteroids small meteor, maybe the size of a fist. Crashed through the roof and actually burned up a chair. There's some experiences where people have had seeing them like in India, big rocks falling out of the sky. And you know what? One guy I think it was down and Indonesia John, he actually found one hit in this yard. Landed there, and he was very lucky. It's like the best lottery you could ever win. But the chances they're worse than the lottery itself. Guess what it was worth. The object of emphasizing the fist was worth about one almost $2 million. You believe that? That's glad. Wow. He hits a lottery that week. You got it, my friend. That's amazing. It jump. There's something else that I want to bring up because of the holiday spirit here. Last time I was on with you, I was alluding to a conjunction both Jupiter and Saturn. And if we go back into the biblical stories of the Christ child and all the stories of the star of Bethlehem, what a beautiful time to share this event, and here it is. Conjunction of two planets and people Start looking John starting tonight, Look in the Southwest with a clear sky. You'll see these two objects that look like stars the brighter one stupider and the one just like a fingernail distance away If you hold your arm out, that's Saturn. But what's even more amazing on the 21st of December John Sauce this day? These two planets are going to come so close together and how close they'll come within 1/10 of a degree now in regular earth terms, that's about 1/5 the diameter of a full moon. If you go back to the stories and theories of what that Starr was that the Wiseman saw, there is more likely truth to the fact that it was a conjunction, so we haven't seen these two planets Jupiter and Saturn John this close since around the 12 hundreds. And if you miss this one on the 21st when they're almost look like they're together. Let's see how good our eyesight is. You know, if you wear glasses, you may go. Hey, they look like they emerged. We won't see this again, John until the year 2080. This is really symbolic. Don't you think you're in the beauty Like you said, Let's have some really inspirational things. This is something for people to ponder and something for people to look at it. I'm gonna look for a dark night. One more thing. Upstate New York Sonic booms by by asteroids. Have you heard anything about that? I have John actually, what they are, they're Meteors. And actually, there's another class of Meteors. They're called fireballs. Which is everybody understands what that is. It's not just the adult beverage that people drink. But here's something else about this. These air, not asteroids, and maybe from asteroids, But they're either fireballs or something even more brilliant. It's called a bowl lied on the phone light is an object that streaks across the sky like a fireball. That's even brighter than the full moon. So what people were probably staying in upstate New York and areas to up the Northeast. Are these errant objects, which comes through maybe even part of the Geminid meteor shower early? We get so many of them and I remember John when I was living back in New York and around 1966. I think it was April to be almost exact. I was sitting with my family outside of a business and we got some ice cream. And no kidding. I looked up in the sky and my sister and I saw this flaming object Come across that went over top of us, and it hissed. So people are actually hearing sonic booms from these They're very rare, but the good news is somewhere out there. If you follow the trajectory John of this object of these objects, people know where they probably went. You might be lucky. Or they might be lucky to claim another who knows million plus prized during the holiday season, But it's kind of Ah. You know, kind of a needle in a haystack, don't you think? Well, I think a little bit of wilder than that, Doctor. Doctor sky. Thank you so much for letting the American people know what they can look up to. It was a pleasure, John Happy holidays and we'll talk to you soon. Look forward to it. Happy holidays..

On Sunday, demonstrators marched through the South Park blocks and they toppled statues of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. The group of about 200. But each time you take a piece of lead shot from the development side and put it on the regulation side. It starts to tilt the little wrong way the wrong way. And every time you'll do that. And put. It it the same is true of cost of living. Then right. And so the if you do that eventually it tilts in tilting is fuck, and I'm going to Texas, and then you go, where's all the housing? What's in Texas because the guys who do it? I've said this a jillion times. The smart. Maxine Waters is an insane retarded person in my estimation of always said that about her for years and years ago. She's not smart and politically incorrect with her. Yes. Twenty years ago. I don't believe Eric are said, he's bright. I don't believe many. These people are smart, you know, who are smart real estate developers? The super smart they got a fucking bottom line. They're not pie in the sky. They have a bottom line. And when it comes to money, that's the business they're in and they look at they got a lot of fucking plates spinning in order to make a buck. You don't just buy acres and acres of land and put up, you know, hundreds of units and not note the fuck you're doing they know what they're doing and the business of making money, and they're smarter than what they're doing is very expensive and highly leverage. So they can lose easy, and they're not in the business of losing. You don't become big time commercial real estate. Developers because you're fucking imbecile. Now, you're going up against Maxine Waters. Erica say who are missiles, and they think they know more, but they don't. And so that these guys are fucking take it in the ass and build their shit and pay absorbent prices and taxes, and leans and regulation. Then that's not gonna be passed onto the consumer. Right. That's not happening. The go somewhere else because they're in the business of making money. What do you think drug dealer still drug of? Oh, we're going to legalize marijuana good. We're getting into fennel. That's what they do. They're they're business people real estate guys business, and they're they're no better than drug dealers or worse. I mean, they pay taxes and all that. And I'm glad for that. But bottom line, they wanna get paid. And if they can't get paid they're moving on sorry. Go ahead. Here's this guy. This detail. Builder. Go build stuff. Let me build John Dennis has been trying to replace this grimy old building this has been a defunct meat packing plants empty for at least fifteen years, he wants to turn this into this which would house sixty people, but it's taken four years just to get permission to build an all that time we're paying property taxes. And we're paying for maintenance of the building people in San Francisco often claim to be all about helping the poor but their policies make life tougher for the poor. What's your next project, and San Francisco, no more projects in San Francisco. I'm done. I'll never do another project here. I like the junk John sauce is willing to say that because it's the reality. Well, they go San Francisco somebody's never going to build and San Francisco. And by those that was designed to help. Low income housing. Yeah. Doesn't matter. That you're looking to make sense of things that nobody else's interested in making sense of talking to me. Yeah, I am. "You did an episode just now on raising boys. What did you say? Basically, we need to start paying attention to our boys more so than girls are we neglecting them. Well, as a mom of a boy and a girl there's a lot of attention towards empowering girls to be but caterers and be aggressive and co get what you want, but not conversely now, an has two girls. So like sushi was looking at it as like an anti an type of thing. Sure. But I was at a parent workshop, and that's how it all came out. I was at a parent works out that my son was at a at like empowering boys to be empathic, and and show your soft side, and like your feelings without making it be totally cheesy and like been totally fall asleep. It was a fun way of talking about those sort of social emotional lessons. And while they while he was at that, my husband, and I were at a parent workshop talking about the serial types of being masculine, and what it means in how we're maybe hurting our boys by being like beyond man, suck it up. That is the sort of one-size-fits-all that we apply to young boys. Let's instill a little toughness in these guys, and how society like for order like we we group everyone like you're a man, and you need to be this way and stoic and Bubba bond your girl, and you're supposed to be this way. And that's how like the society groups at for order. So we can make sense of everything, and it's not a one-size-fits-all type of thing. And tell me if this makes any sense my impression about women as well. They have also been put in a box. It seems like you said a moment ago were very interested in ripping that wall down that box down and saying, okay. No, whatever a little girl is so too should she be aggressive or or masculine or tough or whatever it is that her interest in personality dictates, but I don't know that we're doing that for young boys. That sounds like the point of your podcast. What is your experts say about that? Or what do we do about that? We have to break down the the walls of of stereotypes in these construct that we have for our kids in how they're supposed to be because it's the third I think he was saying the third leading cause of death for teenage boys suicide, and even when like by having these contracts like you have to stoic, and you can't show your feelings. You can't be vulnerable and all those things it leads them to do drastic things sometimes because they have no outlet to express themselves. Like if a girl is aggressive and goes after thanks. She's an a ask acre and go get them. But if a boy is Rollerball or acts differently than their Assissi, those funny because there was a time remembered, Phil Donahue burst onto the scene in Alan Alda was popular star on say mash, and it seemed to me like the sort of empathetic not super masculine guy was in vogue, and then that sort of fell away, and I don't know who the, you know, the example of the opposite of. That are. But it did seem like the culture was more macho masculine muscle bound and for the kids who that didn't fit. They'd really didn't have somebody to emulate or to look to and say, it's okay to be this version of a man too. I don't even know who the stereotypes are role models for young men today to say. See the range or spire to be like that. I don't even know if they talked about that do they do they do they offer that up well in this documentary that was brought up at that parent workshop, which I highly recommend it's a little bit. Was hyperbolic little bit over the top. But it's called the masculine. And after the workshop my house, I went and checked it out from the library and my husband, and I went and watched it, and it's it's pretty amazing the way you talk to your sons, and you you think you're motivating by like, oh, come on don't cry like to get out of the moment. You're actually not allowing them to actually they're human beings too. And they can cry and and how the same emotions that girl, doesn't it doesn't make them less masculine because he cries. So what do you say to the boys? So they're saying allowed to have those feelings like don't and also he also brought this up which is the first thing I do as a parent when when my son comes home from school what what's wrong, I use. You look sad. What's the matter? And it immediately puts what the doctor was saying it immediately put you on your heels. Like, you're you're masculinity is at on attack by because I'm like showing that he's being vulnerable. So he's like don't don't talk. Like, what's the matter is though, there's a problem here? Yes. So he's like don't don't say it like. That like when my daughter comes home. You know, the inclination is let's let's go get a thing of Ben and Jerry's and let's go sit down and talk about it. And like, but you don't do that with a boy, I haven't at least. No, I get it. I get a thank you. He's like you should talk to them just in let them have their feelings and talk about things that are bugging him to. And then he says to turn it on to turn it around and talk about it like like a competition. You gotta talk like how talk I mean. My son is incredibly competitive. So so his he said he runs an all boys school. They don't just say, okay. We're going to sit down and talk about our feelings are like all right whose families driving him nuts who had. They're all the kids are raising their hand the boys 'cause then competition about whose family is really the most messed up. And it draws it out. I don't know that I ever even thought we raised two boys. Sometimes I think we still are. I don't know. I never thought about it. You know, I I never went to apparently workshop they will probably tell me some day, I should have. But I don't know if that's I don't know why that was a lot of is just sort of go by our gut by our instincts. What the kids are telling us. Maybe I made some drastic mistakes. Oh, I make mistakes. But it was just an interesting. It was an interesting thing because I do have a boy and girl, and I definitely don't treat. My son the same way as I treat my daughter, and that's too bad. So the bottom line from your pod this week is what get let boys like we we need to encourage our boys to talk about it. He also said to let them being caretaking roles. If you want your voice to be Pathak, and and have a motion, and and be those kind of beings, give them opportunities like girls are the ones that go babysitting or have caregiving, but that's how you you have to have experiences for the boys. Let them take care of their little their little cousin or something like that. Because it draws out those qualities that you're looking for our moms and dads still doing that they take the little girl, and they say, you babysit, and until the boy, you do the I don't know what masculine garbage cans just as a for instance. I mean, I suppose it's easy to fall into that. But we should maybe. And here again, I never even thought about it because we had. Two boys. But if I had maybe I would have made sure that the boys did the babysitting or if we had an infant in a house tended to help mom in the big data, and the nursery and the girl would mow the lawn or take out the garbage. We should be proactive about this. He we went down the line. And so I learned that because it's the third leading cause of death for boys was suicide that they do it in a masculine boys. Do do end their lives masculine Li like jumping in front of trains are shooting themselves with a gun, whereas girls, leave notes and take pills and get an so even in even in death. They're going to commit suicide. They do it masculine Lee. Isn't that amazing? I thought that and I thought about them like how true lots of Tex about this phone calls to but we're out of time. So listen to the podcast, I can people reach out to you guys too. And they hear something on one of the episodes, and they go, oh, I want to talk to the lady. We have our Facebook page apparently a podcast or you can find our on I tunes and WGN radio apparently spilled UH. Yep. Apparently, it's with Tracy Wigner, and and John sauce. Nice shop, Tracy. As you know, I'm a teacher. I don't have a lot of connections. So it was a daunting task. I met miss HALE in DC last summer at a religious Freedom Conference, and she gave me her card. She offered to help me.
