"We're counting down the days till the presidential election while KGO election night hosts Pat Thurston and John Rothman are good friends. They don't always see things eye to eye. Biden does have some things in his record that are going to be challenging for him with black Americans to some degree, know why that isn't gonna happen because the alternative is Donald Trump. I get that. But John Black Americans have said to me before that they would rather have Have the snake in the open, then the snake in the grass. I agree with you. He's not a snake. I'm telling you that Joe Biden has unfortunately supported the crime bill. So did Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama. So, Maya Maya that it was terrible, terrible, terrible. I understand every terrible, terrible, terrible bad. John may not agree on everything, Biden, but there's one thing they're both. You're off. Would you rather have more years of Donald Trump? Of course. That's the point. I really bring people together every weekday catch Pat Thurston noon to three. John Rothman. Six tonight. They love me. They love me on kgo 8 10. Good afternoon. IPad. Thurston. Yes, we are talking about Donald Trump. We're talking about the upcoming election We're talking about Michael Caputo. Who is a lunatic, and he's just crazy. This is a guy who has told people to be ready. Be armed in two different scenarios. One is if Trump wins. Joe Biden won't accept the results of the election, and so we have to be prepared to fight off the insurrection. The other is if if Joe Biden wins, then we have to be able to fight off. The Joe Biden with our own insurrection. I mean, it's just the weirdest thing. The things that this guy is advocating for its cuckoo crazy. It's He's an He's an official within the Trump administration, and he should be called out on this the very idea that there are officials within this administration. Who are unwilling to accept the peaceful transition of power is frightening. And it should frighten every single one of us, and we should right now be calling for people who are sane to vote. We're just just people who are saying just go to the polls and vote. If you're saying if you're not a lunatic if you're not, Q and on if you're not one of these really bizarre conspiracy people if you're not somebody who buys into every somebody who does not buy into the ramblings, the rantings of Alex Jones. If you're somebody who really does believe in our country and our democracy, please vote please vote. Just vote. We can't let the lunatics take over the asylum. Let's go to my keys in South City. Hey, Mike. Welcome to KGO. Hi. Thanks for taking my calls. So let's say that Tuesday, November 3rd and it's 10, o'clock P. M. Pacific Standard Time and Donald Trump has 300 electoral votes. Are you going to accept the outcome? Well, it won't be that fast. First of all, because of all the mail in ballots, So we probably are not going to know on election night who has won the election. But if you're asking me if I'll accept the results of the election, Yes, I will, will you What will I want to know? What's the cut off once acceptable cut off on when? How long can it drag out before we know who the winner is? It's actually you know, it's I don't have the date in front of John Rothman could tell you, but it's a constitutional issue where the the electors cast their votes, and they cast their votes on a certain day. And so the electors for each state will cast their votes. I mean, once the electors cast their votes, of course you accept the results of the election will know prior to that. Here in the state of California. I believe we have about two weeks in order to have our ballots in after election Day, if their mail in ballots in order to account for the delays in the mail system and that sort of thing so yes. So it'll take a little bit of time, but it shouldn't take forever. It shouldn't take more than you know a couple of weeks till we know So you think it's going to be okay to find out who the next president of the United States going to be two weeks later? Sure why not? Oh, that's absurd. That's that's insane. It's never happened. Of course, it has the predictions that are made. What happens is they make predictions as to who wins and it comes out on the news media. This is who we think has one. And then what happens is the person who has lost, I think, always. I'm not positive this again. Rothman could tell you the history of it, but the person who has lost They concede, and that's the reason that then we have this president elect. We assume he's the president elect. But it's never official until after the electors cast their vote, and that doesn't happen for a few weeks. But But you know what you're saying is if on CNN and it says Donald Trump has 300 electoral boat, okay, that that is a prediction, And if it's something that's you know that we believe is really solid, But they're going to be a lot of states. You haven't reported. And so I don't think you're gonna find that. But that's not the point. I think the point you're making is Will I accept the results of the election? And I'm telling you, I will. And I'm asking you will you do the same? Absolutely, but I think if it dragged out for two weeks, I think the country is going to be in person serious. It's not. I don't and I have more faith in the American people than that. As much as I think they're bunch of lunatics. I feel have greater faith in the American people than that, If that's the amount of time that it takes, because this is the year of the pandemic. Because there are so many states who are going to have record numbers of people voting by mail. It may take longer in order to process those ballots..

"Comes up a lot of my John Rothman show. John, I listen to you all the time. Just because I need to get my blood pressure up. It's theater, man. Every night I turn in, and I hear how is the world coming to an end? Because of Donald Trump Tonight? Sometimes you say the wrong thing I have done that. You won't care about this virus, John the day after the election, you bet I'm going to talk about it. Whoever the next president, the United States for Mark is he's gonna have to deal with us. Your show wins Best hate man. Explain me. Why This is all a narrative too far back on Donald Trump. They weren't laughing at me. They were laughing with me before was Russian collusion. And then before that, it was systemic racism. Are you telling me sir, With all due respect, the systemic racism doesn't exist. No, I do not believe it. Okay? And you're telling the Russians did not try to interfere in the American election. They interfere in every election. No, they don't mean after all that Ocean. It just ends with Rothman in a word 69 on KGO. We had fun videos path. Thurston loves getting colors with good questions. But there's no guarantee the callers will like her answers. Which death rate for people under 70 people over 70. Don't count. Is that right? People? Over 70. Don't count. They're not American citizens. You don't give a crap mother. Older Americans. How old are you? Robert? You, Robert, I'm asking you You're 62. You're gonna be there pretty soon. How's it going to be with people Don't give a crap about whether you live or die. Yes, son of a death rate right now is under 1%. It doesn't mean 99% of these cases are harmless. What do you do? Find us Harmless due to find this harm with if you're a person who has to undergo one of those God awful ventilators. If you've suffered damage to your heart, all the organs are impacted by this. Don't be stupid. I mean, you're already proved that you're an S o b. Don't be stupid on top of it that uncensored noon to three on KGO 10. Those with short attention spans appreciate the way pap Thurston and simplify a complicated issue like this one you are putting in American. Are you kidding me? Now? I've said it before. I'll say it again. The people who are Vandals, the people who are involved in violence. They need to be arrested. They need to Goto whose cow but people who are protesters, people who are demonstrators..

"Still to come in the the next stop I'm here to six o'clock in the John Rothman so we're gonna talk about dating during college and you know I don't mean to make that sound like sort of a flip sort of answer because it's important I mean you're single person I don't care if you're twenty two or sixty two you know the enemy people we gotta talk you get a share and it's hard so in the same break it to you we're not gonna have a vaccine for probably a year and a half so you're looking at the fall of next year we're not gonna have herd immunity we're gonna have to socially distant somewhere these or we're gonna have a million and a half Americans debt I mean those are numbers that are all planned out right now we have to continue to mitigate we didn't make it three months you know the people started **** about socially distant saying in and having to wear a mask and I hear it all the time I heard trump just he's going to the basket is a protective it's not intended to protect you it's intended to protect the other people when you wear one of those surgical masks you can still inhale viral droplets if you don't socially distance but if you wear the mask then you won't accept you won't exhale if you're if you're infected and for if they think forty five percent of us could be a symptomatic we're learning and learning and learning there's no doubt about this but if you think opening the economy wide up and just get out but now the old people die it's not just all people are that's something you should understand too for some reason which we love children are seemingly unaffected there is the rare Kawasaki syndrome but for the most part kids are affected but the mean age for clover nineteen spread is fifty one now the difference between mean it averages is if if you took everybody's age and you throw an above bucket and then you average and then you cut in New divided do we get the average age of a person of a sick a mean age means that I'll give you that edge and half the people that are sick or younger than that half the people that I'm again that's the mid middle age of all the people that are sick stumbling through this I apologize and that's fifty one years so the you know the idea that somehow letting everybody just get the virus yeah we have right now we're looking at about six tenths of one percent mortality rate which is fabulous in one way that it's so low sars and mers were much more deadly smallpox had a forty percent fatality rate Ebola has even higher than that so I mean is those go that's good but this thing is much more contagious than we ever thought and it's eighty percent of the of the contagion I N. N. eighty percent well I should say this better eighty percent of the transmission where people get sick org or get the virus and at our end or a symptomatic afterwards happens in the super groups like what's going to happen Saturday night in Tulsa you know all these people have been led to believe by this president it's safe to go in this building with the you know again it's a ceiling it's a packed it's a nineteen thousand seat auditorium although trump said there was a hundred thousand people they were going to come I am but you know again they Y. llar Ingram showed protesters outside and then she she showed what it would be like in the amphitheater and she said you know that the laughter being hypocritical I'm telling you we've been saying this now for six weeks it's it's apparent that when you're outside much less transmissibility rate and we don't really know why it might be now in the summer that the humidity affects the way you can transmit and that's great but it's going to be summer and for the whole year for most of the country if you live in I don't know bears on or San Diego or even those places still in the chilly in the winter but and you know that half of the country you know up above the fifty percent above like you know I don't know Nebraska dot org or pick Oklahoma in those states they're gonna get a winner they can just inside and they're gonna be forced to be inside and that's when this thing is going to spread nasty that's the second spike we're talking about that's a spike that happened in nineteen nineteen I yeah and that killed the majority of the people that died from the Spanish flu but I broke out in nineteen eighteen in the spring we seem to have a control over it although we made mistakes police you know the social distancing ended in the fall but it went away it roared back it's going to happen like that again I hope it doesn't but everything seems to indicate that it will anyway so there's you know there's just so much here about that and there's we're trying to cover every different angle in trying to get your thoughts and opinions on this as well I don't know you know I don't know where this is going to go and we don't know what's a novel coronavirus and we've never seen this before but you know I'm a good example would be and we'll talk about this at some length I'm waiting for Meryl Carter to give us a call here just a second but the governor of Nebraska it is now telling their citizens that if if they are forced to wear masks by local governments then they will not give them money I you can you cannot make that up they're they're telling them that if you if you will if you if your local government in the state decides to mandate are wearing masks in public in areas where you're close to other people we know again and you're not with your family I mean it was pretty loose actually I mean it's you know they're but they're they're being but if they're being I think the it from what I've read this article from mom A. L. local affiliate in Nebraska they're being responsible but smart but the governor his name is Pete Ricketts love that name he's a Republican and he's at odds with the usual message encouraging people wear masks to slow the spread of the virus the governor does not the quote does not believe a failure to wear mass should be the basis for denying taxpayer services however he will hold back he said they will get no federal money meant to help fight the effects of chronic virus if they require people to wear masks let me just say that again they will get no federal money if they do the very thing that that was in the federal guidelines and still this is it out yeah right it when you look at this and you and you ask yourself that so what's it like to run a major metropolitan area now what's called a nineteen well you know as you probably know San Jose is one of the biggest cities in the country and they have a a very very smart and then get a vibrant public there near you know some of the smartest people in the world how are they dealing with the join us right now as mayor Sam Liccardo they're good to hear your voice again spent a while Hey chip could be working against how are you doing and how the San Jose do I know this is that these are difficult times are difficult times and you know we've got thousands of families right now struggling without a paycheck and you know we'll course were all we concerned about how we can help them continue to stay on their feet but the good news is the community is really come together in a tough time we know obviously that the protest been really challenging but even through all of this we've seen more than three thousand volunteers come out to help deliver food and people are contributing to help support families in need more than thirty million dollars has been raised so we'll see the community step up in a lot of ways that I think is really heartening I'm you know I'm a believer in that that need to ask you you know that if it doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I think you're wrong after this we can throw a bus right arm but I do think that there's something about that that's that I find interesting obviously you know what the CDC has put out and and that the president has you know ignored you know we we talked about before we open again we should see fourteen day decline California seeing their school gone gone up along with Arizona and Florida that's not good.

J. on patent John go ahead yeah this is a similar question but isn't there something considered dereliction of duty it's like in the military and also if you do what you're supposed to do that's what they call it right yes so the answer to your question is the senators are required to be present in the chamber they are not allowed to speak to each other while they're in the chamber they are not allowed to have electronic devices but in the end each one of the senators is an individual juror who has to do what his or her conscience says so there's there's no consequence if senator are in your terms dereliction of duty no consequence at all except the next time you're up for election as of right now at the ballot box that's what the that's really what the only what the only and and may I just add to that and can it's a great question because the senators are clearer they today took an oath and I watched I have to tell you almost with tears in my eyes each one had to sign the register right they are now jurors and will lay do impartial justice and what does impartial justice mean we'll find out as this proceeds eighty eighty eight ten is the telephone number we got to take a quick break here we're gonna come back one of the things we're gonna do when we come back John I really want to talk about this a government accountability office a report that came out what they how they made their determination the president broke the law yeah and so we'll talk about that as soon as we return to and we'll get your phone calls at eighty eighty eight ten this is KGO they're still on KGO eight ten some say I'm making the door in this news update is sponsored by dell the Senate.

"I am John Rothman right here with you on K GO. I'm going to take this to the top of the hour. In the final hour. I wanna talk about the house vote on equality act to extend civil rights protection to gay infringed. Enter people and why that's going nowhere. And why this is part of that culture war. We're talking about four one five eight zero eight zero eight. Ten let me go to Ron calling from San Jose, Ron, thanks for your patience. Welcome to k- GO. Hi, this is Ron thank you. Thank you. I was wondering, maybe I've got too much spare time on my hand. It's a little bit off the subject. But I what both down to I hope any hardcore anti abortionist never ever, ever take a friend, or family member for hamburger flare fish steak, bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Because animals are here on this earth. Many of them are year old before they're you know, slaughtered, and guess what before they were slaughtered. They breathed. They had a heartbeat. So I cannot compare it with the board. And I don't think so. But I think that the people are really hardcore should keep that in mind, and never ever do anything, you know, to eat animals, something like that. It's an interesting point of not exactly on point. But Ron interesting to think about because if you ask somebody who loses a pet it is like losing a member of a family. You're right. All right. I appreciate the call. Thanks so much for one five eight zero eight zero eight ten. Let's go to Mary calling from Salinas. Mary, welcome cagey. Very nice to speak with you, livable wake. But that's how important it is I here's a personal cake. I had come from a religious conservative background..

"John Rothman, K G O, eight ten John Rothman. We'll take this further half an hour all got a full board. I'll try to get as many of you on us. I can keep your remark short. We'll get them all out. I wanted to healthcare in the next half hour. I just want to answer a question. And that is what about bipartisanship in the United States of America? The gang of eight is a common colloquial term for bipartisan group of eight United States. Senators four Democrats and four Republicans who wrote the first raft of the border security economic opportunity and immigration modernization act of two thousand thirteen the group was also instrumental in bringing conference immigration reform back to the legislative branch in two thousand thirteen are you aware that Bill passed the Senate by a vote of sixty eight thirty two with fourteen. Republicans joining all Democrats, then the house of representatives under speaker, John bainer wouldn't act on the Bill it expired at the end of honored and thirteenth congress. The Bill would have created reform that would have begun to resolve some of the issues that are currently being debated as we talk about the whole question of closing the border, and I wanna give you what the following provisions were because I'm tired of people saying people haven't made proposals, Democrats and Republicans have to work together. One a path to citizenship for illegal aliens already in the United States is contingent on certain border security and visa tracking improvements the plan provided for permanent residence for illegal aliens. Only only after legal aliens waiting for card priority date, receive the permanent resident status and a different citizenship path for agricultural workers through an agricultural workers program similar to what Ronald Reagan initiated here in California,.

"Now. More of John Rothman on K O eight Sen.. What I have been searching for this process is the facts. I recognize many of my colleagues on the other side do not see it that way. Many of you have questioned the timing of when this allegation surfaced. And you have also said there are not enough facts corroborating, Dr Ford's testimony. To ruin a good, man. I strongly disagree with both of these points and water. Explain briefly, why the first time I learned of Dr Ford's allegations the judge cavenaugh had sexually assaulted. Her was on September twelfth ranking member Feinstein disclosed this highly sensitive information to myself and other Democrats on this committee, only after reporters had learned of the letter, Dr Ford provided her congresswoman, I don't know how this information leaked. I regret that it did the decision whether to come forward should have been Dr Fords and Dr Ford's alone. And I cannot rule out that the person who leaked this information had partisan agenda. But I am certain ranking member Feinstein in her staff did not disclose Dr Ford's account prior to that date because it was not there to share. And I think it's regrettable that long serving honorable colleagues of hers. Have questioned her motives. I know since the day that my democratic colleagues, and I learned to these allegations we've had one consistent request to allow the FBI to investigate them in a nonpartisan professional evenhanded manner and deliver their findings to us. So that we could reach a conclusion that same night ranking member Feinstein said a letter for questioning such an investigation to suggest that Senate staff interviews or letters from lawyers are an adequate substitute for a robust FBI fact gathering process that we might then way is not credible and reflects sadly a willful blindness to the dysfunction of our institution. To my colleagues across the aisle. You know, me, you know, I try to be fair to nominees that come before us, and I respect this process and the humanity of those even those with whom I passionately disagree. If I were convinced this were nothing more than a partisan hit job designed to take down a good man and hold a position vacant past the election. I would not stand for it. An investigation would be helpful. Because Dr Ford's recollect recollection shared with us so powerfully yesterday. Of her assault. We're searing but incomplete, and of course, Senator coons who by the way is a close friend of Senator flake, and they work on getting the White House and the Republican leadership to reverse themselves. What do you think of that? Let's go to Jim. He's been waiting a long time Jim in Palo Alto. Jim. Thank you for your patience. Welcome to k- GO. Thank you for taking my call. Just a couple of points. One is the object of this seems to be lacking this entire tenor. The previous talk show host yourself in the media is pretty much the onus is on candid on your. No, no, actually, I don't know. What Pat said, but I can tell you what I believe in repeated. No, no, no, no, no. You said something and I'm going to correct it. I have always favored and FBI investigation. A person is innocent until proven guilty. But when you're looking for a seat on the supreme court there has to be an appropriate investigation. And please note that what the Democrats what path and what I have insisted on is happening. The FBI is going to do an investigation. And hopefully, the truth will be revealed, which is what we both want totally agree with you. And that's my point for the call is innocent until proven guilty. And the tenor of the call in the media and various talk show Low's has have said quote credible on one side and bullet blue delivering on the other. Frankly, if anyone if I was a cues the tiniest climbs assaults. I would I would get emotional myself. It's a natural reaction. I said that last night. But I want to be crystal clear about something I listened to right wing radio. I suffer from low blood pressure. So I need to stem. Myself and the attacks on Dr Ford the attacks on. The Democrats, including judge Cavanaugh's comments were intemperate and ill placed, and I'm hoping that the temperature will be reduced and exactly what you are calling for will happen. And that is that there will be a rational view of this. But may I suggest something to you? Jim. I don't expect any votes to be changed. Because when you boil it down the issue here is not in my judgment. What Kavanagh did or didn't do it has to do with his stand on Roe v? Wade it has to do with his stand on executive power. And I think the Democrats will to a person at least Democrats who said they're gonna vote are gonna vote against them in the Republicans are going to vote for him, and it will come down to a few swing votes. I totally agree. I just find this the attacks on both sides. That much my point any object is lacking. I mean, let's listen to FOX occasionally, not just CNN. And I do I listened to everything. And particularly I listen to Sean Hannity. I listen to Rush Limbaugh. I listen to Mark Levin. And I have to tell you bottom line. I opened with a statement by a friend of mine who was the chairman of the Senate intelligence committee for many years, he served three terms in the Senate, he succeeded Hubert Humphrey, and I think you'll agree with David Durham burger who said this I found my and this is an Email. He sent me just a few hours ago. John I found myself unable to watch the Thursday hearing because it hurt too much to see the depth to which my old friends and the institution. I loved have sunk. And I make that is something you, and I can agree on. Absolutely. And I appreciate you. Let me speak again innocent until proven guilty. And I don't know. I I have no knowledge. It's just it's time. She said he showed it. So I don't know what's gonna come out of this at the end of the day. I point is I've hoped people will be objective. You guys are pros at this. And let's see what what comes out of may. I say, I agree. I think the Republicans would have been better served have they agreed to this initially, and I want, you know, the only reason they've agreed to it is because of Jeff flake, and does he earn a place in profiles encourage? We'll see Jim you're always welcome. Thanks for your call four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten I wanna know what you think. So let me go. I'm doing this in order of how long you have been on hold. And the next person is Stephen calling from San Jose. Stephen welcome to pay g k GO. Good evening, John. How are you? Excellent. Thank you so much. Hey, just a quick quick comment. And then a question the common is I have a close to your family female family member who had a similar circumstance in her past. And she actually believes Cavanaugh. You know, I've heard people on both sides of this. I don't know who to believe I only know that I want to make sure that whatever cloud exists can be as nearly as we can be dispelled. And that's what the FBI is all about. And then my question is even no matter what the FBI does if they ended up finding nothing new for the Democrats to hang their hat on. You really think the Democrats are dependent voter I vote all over the map, I'm liberal and conservative on different issues. But I feel two things the Democrats are never going to be satisfied number one. And number two. I'm sure more of these accusations. We're going to surface from people from all over the place of the Nadi might bring up doesn't doesn't work the mandate to the FBI is to investigate the existing charges. Not anything new. And I believe the same thing about the Republicans as you believe about the Democrats. I think. People are locked in. I think Cavanaugh will be confirmed unless the FBI investigation expresses or discovers something is really agree GIS, and that's what we're all waiting for. But I can tell you it's going to be a party line vote. There are three or four Democrats in the Senate who have not declared including Joe Manchin who's up for reelection and other stuff race in a state, which the president carried overwhelmingly so we're going to have to wait and see. But I appreciate Steve that you're trying to do what I'm doing which is to keep an open mind. And we'll see what has appreciate your call, sir. For one five eight zero eight zero eight ten I am John Rothman, no place. I'd rather be especially at a time like this than right here with you on Keiichiro. John Rothman on.

"This case though i mean you can sometimes argue these cases on their merits in this case there's no argument the administration this trump administration favored these baby formula manufacturers over mother's milk and this is i mean this is such an innocuous things this is so simple but yeah it would hamper the marketing in the sales of formula instead opting for mother's milk which everybody knows is much more healthy for a developing infants everybody knows this administration they may know it i think they know it you mean they're doing this for some nefarious reason like making money yeah well it's just another indication pat of a serious problem and it's awful and it's children's health and the health of babies infants the most vulnerable among us infants and mother's milk we're gonna fight over mother's milk well pat you mentioned mother's milk what about what's going on with immigration i sit with her the administration is trying to postpone family reunification they are they've done such a botch job of this and yet they seem to be getting off scotfree i hope with all my heart that all people of conscience will react vigorously in the november election eight hundred eighty eight ten is the telephone number eight hundred eighty eight ten i'm pat thursday we're gonna come back and we're going to talk about what's going on at the epa we'll talk about scott pruitt he is leaving the epa we'll talk about the person who is at least for the time being taking his position and john one thing we haven't talked about but i'd like to take up on the air as well is it scott pruitt has been petitioning the white house to get to make him the attorney general of the united states general of the united states of america and by the way it's going to happen giuliani for be confirmed it would be an interim appointment and then he said he was going to return back to his blurry his home state of oklahoma and run for political office eight hundred eighty eight ten we'll be right back john's here john rothman i'm here pat thurston and here is k g o ten traffic who's traffic report sponsored by.
