Now we've been spending the last several months marinating in the juices of this recall election of Gavin Newsom. And we've heard a lot of people criticize the recall criticized direct democracy say it's undemocratic to try to remove someone from office before their term expires. However, there is a reason that the recall exists in the state of California if you are curious to know why the recall exists in the state of California. There is an excellent book that's really the prologue to direct democracy and progressive reform. Coming to the state of California. It's called American Disruptor, the scandalous life of Leland Stanford. It's written by a gentleman by the name of Roland did walk. If you want to understand the history of this recall process, go get the book right now. It's available at Amazon. Com. Roland is kind enough to join us this afternoon. Roland, Welcome to the program. Hey, John. Thank you. Now this has to be kind of like the final episode of Seinfeld for you because you spent so much time researching this and so much time going over what happened in California that led to progressive reforms. This has to be Deja vu for you. It keeps being days of over again, As the saying goes right. We keep repeating Americans could use a little bit of history to kind of not keep remaining the same mistakes or thinking. Everything is brand new. This has never happened before. When goodness gracious, we know that it has. Can you set the stage for us in terms of what you outlined in your book? What led the state of California to say we need a recall process on the books. So if there is corruption or malfeasance or a government that's not looking out for the people We have a way to take care of it. Essentially comes down to the same thing that keeps happening over and over again, I guess worldwide John is somebody has abused their power. There has been a perception that somebody has not only abused it. They've gained too much, and they're being arrogant about it that they're not being Accountable to the people that put them in that office and the perfect case in point, And I would argue the seminal case in point is the Leland Stanford who was, of course best known for being the founder of Stanford University. But more importantly, he was able to do that and make his great fortune because he was the person behind. That would became the Southern Pacific Railroad and created a monopoly here in California and throughout the West for the transportation network, which is absolutely critical to everything but then did not feel that he was accountable to the people. Regardless, the fact that the people paid for that railroad And he not only when he was governor of California, served as governor of California. He's still remained to CEO of the railroad correct at the exact same time, he was the head of the biggest Wealthiest, most powerful business organization in California and was the governor of the state of California and not only didn't see any conflict between the two but saw symbiosis between the two and exploited one. For the other, And this has nothing to do with party. This has nothing to do with the ideology. This has to do with accountability to the people to your point. And he also installed the attorney representing the railroad on the California Supreme Court, didn't he? He did that. He was highly influential in at least two appointments. The United States Supreme Court. Which became really an important part of the story as well. It was incredibly powerful and just kind of ran amok. There. Until people said Basta enough! We have to have some accountability. What do you think? Leland Stanford's main legacy is after researching this book and looking at it from the point of view of someone who is reading the newspaper in 2021 seeing what's going on in the state? How would you define his legacy? Well, of course, the popular legacy is going to be the creation of the Stanford University. And I would add to that very quickly that since Stanford University is really the birthplace of the incubator, the sustainer of Silicon Valley, the Internet this legacy about our mass communications system today. Which is very brand new 2025 years old is incredibly important. And his story that leads to that is vitally important. Not just for California not just for the United States, but for the world and the other part of this Equation that comes to mind again is somebody who achieves power becomes the governor of California and fuels as if he's entitled to that. And again, the people of California spoke up and said not so fast. What's interesting in politics is that so much of what spreads nationwide starts in California, It doesn't matter if you're talking about Reaganism that started here in the 19 sixties and then went national in the 19 eighties. Or you're talking about some of the legislation that you see today with the plastic bag ban. The plastic straw band starts in one Bay Area city goes statewide and then all the sudden You can't get a plastic straw in Denver. That really has been the case for in California since the very beginning, though, hasn't it? It has indeed, and Stanford's part of that as well because For example, when you have the gold rush, 18 48 begins in 18. 49, of course, really takes on some kind of meaning Here is a direct parallel to the gold rush that we're experiencing today with that Silicon Valley that I just mentioned mentioned, but Um, this begins with Stanford, who is able to brilliantly exploit the need to tie this.

He's Pretty regularly right on target, which is something to be said for that crowd because so few of them ever, ever come to the right position on they're just downright suicidal on any number of subjects, But we could do a whole lot worse than Joe Boost guy. You know, he's definitely one of the most common sense people on the L. A City Council, not just on police issues, but He seems to understand what the really needs to be done on things like homelessness and would definitely be in the shot of in the arm for the city of L. A. As to his chances. I don't know. Welcome. Hey, thanks for taking the call. It's always a pleasure. I really enjoy. It doesn't depend on E was. I was wondering if we could. I don't know. Dr. Kelly saw the two studies that just came out from the CDC. About masks and asymptomatic transmission. And 32 State of California gets money from the federal government for having elevated case numbers mean that they get dollars. And if you know we're bankrupt, right, so we need the money to pay the unemployment. I wonder if there's a correlation there. You know, I could speak into conspiracy theories, but You think a politician would do that? Yes, but you know, I'd love to get your guy's opinion. Where there's no question that the financial incentives surrounding covitz cases has has been part of the problem from the very beginning in particular, you know, hospitals get more money for every covert patients, they admit, and they get a lot more money for every cook patient who dies with coded There's a perverse incentive if you will, for hospitals to code patients as Cupid related and covert related death, then to do the opposite, which is to say this person actually died of a heart attack or stroke, and oh, incidentally, had tested positive for covert sometime previously. Uh, so so I think that that is part of the problem. Whether or not you know Gavin Newsom Citizens Office and saying while I know these numbers are wrong, but I need to bump him up so I can get more dollars in the coffers that I can't say. I'm not sure which quote new study you're talking about between the CDC on maths or on a symptomatic spread. But I can tell you that there are many studies that have said that asymptomatic spread as we would expect is essentially is extraordinarily rare. Can it happened with covert 19? Yes, Theoretically, it can happen. It actually would happen during the time that a patient or an individual Is what we call pre symptomatic, meaning that brief moment in time in which they have the virus in their nose and Orel parents, But they have not yet developed symptoms, and that would be a relatively short period of time. The idea that people are just walking around with the virus. Have no symptoms whatsoever, but are capable of spreading it if we simply know from previous respiratory viruses that although that is theoretically possible, it is not a driver. Dr. Fauci himself admitted as much in no uncertain terms back in March on, I've shared that video clip over and over again, but now he tends to deny it, but we know that asymptomatic spread is extraordinarily rare. Let's go toe. Amy! Amy, you're on K A B. C. Welcome. Thank you for taking my call Dr. Victory. I am 77 years old. I have hypertension, which is controlled with meds. Had a pulmonary embolism two years ago and taking part milligrams of Xarelto. I would like very much to visit my brother in Florida. Is traveling relatively safe for me. Well, each individual has to make a decision about what his or her risk tolerance is and what I mean by that is you clearly do fall into some risk categories because of your age and because you have some underlying medical conditions, Frankly, the Xarelto is probably helpful for you. That's probably protective because one of the bad side effects of covert 19 is that people get into trouble with developing blood clots. And you're already on a medication that would help you to prevent that. So that's a good thing. Hopefully you are doing the things that I've been talking about on the show for months like taking vitamin D, and zinc and vitamin C, and maybe quest attend. So all of those things that are simple to do when it comes down to them, making the decision about whether or not you should travel I'm a big believer that people should do the same things they would normally do during influenza season, which we are still in his well and assess that risk. I hate to see people put their entire lives on hold for not just weeks or months. But now we're going to be moving in two years because of this pandemic, and I think you can travel safely. The airlines have done a great job of making sure that people are doing all the things they should do with math and distancing. They're doing, you know, sanitizing the aircraft. And I think that you can travel safely on take the same precautions. You would any other called of flu season, stay away from people who are actively ill and take reasonable precautions. One of the benefits of flying out of a small airport. Local airport is that they all the T s agents actually know me, So I'm chitchatting with the tea estate agent and the woman behind me said he's supposed to be wearing a mask. So anyway, just just just a little fun time at the airport. All right. There's a lot to talk about today. Let's go ahead and start with a subject. We spent some time talking about the last hour. That is the ever changing goal posts in the state of California. Initially, we were supposed to be shut down for three weeks. Now it's between 45 60 days. Let's Listen Award! Newsome cut one light at the end of the tunnel, but we're still in the tunnel. Going through the most challenging and difficult surge we've experienced since the beginning of this pandemic. You could see here we have the new framework of these regional stay at home Order is not because we want to. Not because we're enthusiastic about asking you to do even more after you've done so much over the course of last nine months because we are in a sprint. Not a marathon down Sprint. That's 45 next 60 days. It's not a permanent state by no stretch of imagination light at the end of the tunnel. We're gonna come out of this stronger than ever Mark Mark my words, We will come out of this stronger than ever. It's want to come out of it healthier than ever want you to be there to experience. The resurgence. This recovery California's come back. It's right in front of us, but it's also inside us. It's our decisions again, not just conditions that will determine that fame future and so we're encouraging that with stay at home order. So there we go. It looks like we're gonna be shut down at least through February. Well, let's try to unpack this a little bit. First of all, I love all of the naked the analogies. You know, it's a tunnel and it's in us. But it's outside of us in the lights right in front of us, and oh, my God. I mean, truly, he could be a televangelist. Um, it is really scary to me because I don't think He understands. Like so many politicians, they do not understand how much of the public trust they have lost. Let's recall people joke about it. But you know, this all started many, many months ago. With quote 15 days to flatten the curve. We are now 289 days into it about 19 times longer than 15 days. So we know now that we simply cannot trust with these people are saying so. There are so many levels to this number one. What he's saying and doing in these mandates are not based on any shred of credible science. They are not following their own data. And furthermore, they have taught us over all this time. This is like Lucy and the football with Charlie Brown. You know, fool me once. Shame on you fool me twice. Shame on me. This is before you, You know, 897 times they keep telling us one thing and then moving the goal post. Over and over and over again, so he is not to be trusted. And frankly, there's no reason to follow these guidelines because they're not scientific in nature. Well, and people aren't following his guidelines, and they aren't paying any attention to him. I want to play some sound for you of restaurant owner in Ventura, who got into it with the Health department when they came to shut down their restaurant. Let's Listen. I've followed the rules. We're going specifically by if a region and all of Southern California's lumped into one giant region by the way, the Bay Area's one little teeny, tiny region that happens to be doing better than the rest of California. Well, if capacity is the issue, why aren't we increasing capacity with more staffing and reopening the emergency facilities were closed earlier. And wouldn't we like to have all of that e D d money that he squandered away by giving it to criminals because his administration can't figure out how to do it properly? Hey, Scott Peterson needs money, too. Scott Peterson and half of Louisiana who was spending it on rodeo Drive. And there's exemptions for Hollywood and professional sports. Get their closing playgrounds down. So you can have adults play football in a empty stadium, but you can't let Children play football at the park. That makes zero sense. Adults can play act in front of cameras in Hollywood, but Children can't bring their action figures and play act with one another. At somebody's house or at school. Well, what if you pull out your iPhone and your filming Your kids at the playground is that count is a production. Wait. Is there a union staff and craft services didn't have a covered compliance officer. All right. Let's welcome our next guest to the program. "On the Dumpster fire that his Twitter is just hard to comprehend. Randy Sell, apparently earlier today, John Roberts of the Fox News Channel and Kayleigh Mcenany got into it over something. And I guess John Robert's wife reported the opposite of what John Roberts is reporting. I'm trying to follow this because I didn't see the actual fight. Now I'm confused. Okay? All you need to know is there's a fight between Kayleigh Mcenany, the White House press secretary, and John Roberts, the White House correspondent of Fox News. So somebody on Twitter gets angry that the two of them are fighting. And so they tweet something nasty about John Roberts. But instead of tagging John Roberts, they tag John Phillips. The attorney out of Jacksonville. No. Oh, yeah. For this poor guy. Every time you go on CNN, he gets attacked. And now he gets attacked when people don't want to go after John Roberts. That's right. So apparently he didn't see the fight either. And it was getting picked up. Other places. This whatever nasty tweeted John Roberts. So now everyone is attacking him and tagging him in the fight. And he's unaware of what the fight's even over. So to try to get himself out of it. He's confused as to who John Roberts is, so he's telling all of the people who are now attacking him that it's me that they want to attack and not John Phillips. A trial attorney. Well, John Phillips, the attorney's got more than enough on his plate to have to deal with this Now he's trying to take down Carol Baskin. That's right. And apparently, he's trying to clog up my Twitter feed with all the haters. So I'm gonna have to have a word with him. All right, coming up in moments. The A Anderson. "It's 2 38 on John Phillips Show Top Radio 7 90, ABC, 800 to 2 to 5 to 2 to is telephone number 1 800 to 2 to ABC. So on Tuesday, Randy We took calls for an entire hour from people who qualified for e d. D, which is the program that you go through. If you have lost your dog job, Dude Cove in 19, the pandemic and all of the force government shutdowns. And they filled out the paperwork correctly and couldn't get the money that was owed to them. When they would call D d to try to get it rectified. More often than not, they couldn't get through. If they could get through. They'd be on hold for two hours. And then the person would either hang up on them or tell them that there was nothing that they could d'oh or we'll call you back, and they never did. Then yesterday we spent an hour taking calls from people who work in retail, who said that they saw people who were defrauding ee dd primarily in Beverly Hills. Young kids from out of state. Where they would come in. Get their cash from a ATM machine at a convenience store. Flash the cash talk trash go down to rodeo drive and load up on designer clothes in Fancy cars and they'd rent homes, and I bet you anything. A lot of these parties that you're seeing in the Hollywood Hills are parties that are paid for by money. We also spoke to people who had tons of checks of D D checks showing up with their mailbox addressed to people who don't live there this morning. I talked to my dad who had that happen to him. Earlier today. I also read on Facebook from a friend in Los Angeles who's selling the property, a vacant property and in that mailbox were a bunch of checks. So Eddie doesn't work for people who need it. Taxpayers of the state of California, But if you want to defraud it, apparently that's easy to do. And the people of California are being taken for a ride. Joining us to talk about this is the senator who represents much of Riverside County Senator Melissa Melendez, Welcome. Hey, John. Thank you so much for having me on how bonkers is all of this. You know, it's almost it's almost looks unbelievable, like somebody's making it up. But it's not. And when I start a story about what was going on in Beverly Hills I about fell out of my chair. And we have a governor who just refuses to talk about it. He's like next topic. Let's talk about banning gas powered cars. Let's talk about anything but the disaster. Noone is e D. And I'll tell you what It is ticking people off because they're tired of waiting for the benefits that they are entitled, Teo and they read stories and hear about stories like the one You talked about in Beverly Hills for their people spending the money that's supposed to go to those who've been waiting for weeks and I mean weeks. It's ridiculous. He should be ashamed of themselves. And you know when you steal money from me, D D and the people that called into the show yesterday said that they all had out of state license driver's licenses. They were getting their money at the convenience stores. The ATMs would run out of cash because they were taking so much cash, and then they'd go down to rodeo drive and spend the money there. That's not a victimless crime because they're clogging up the system. First of all, it's theft. Second of all, they're clogging up the system so that no one who is owed the money can actually get through and get their money because it's so overwhelmed. Well, yeah, I have. People who live in my district have been waiting since March to get their benefits. And this is not a laughing matter mean these are people who need to get certain bills paid and again, the governor just brushes it aside. And she's just talk about everything under the sun, except the fact that millions of Californians are hurting and need this money, and he plays games with this silly. Tiered system that he has created for how counties can open up and it just, you know, goes round and round and round and I really hope that there are enough Californians out there, you know, irrespective of their political party. Who are paying attention this on her saying No. You know, I don't think that person should be in control any anymore. I don't think that party should be in controlling working. Clearly, they can't handle the system that they have. They can't. They can't even get us our checks that we're entitled to when we're supposed to get them and then to call Eddie D, which I did myself by the way just to test the system. I called for an hour straight, and I had to keep hitting re dial because I never got a person read. I'll read. I'll read. I'll and they were only open from eight until noon. At the time that I called, Then I find out from the governor's strike team that went in there. And they said one of the call centers. It was a one in 1000 person chance that you would get through to a person at that call center one in 1000 Day. People who called actually got through. And the governor doesn't want to talk about it. So Eddie gets their money from the state of California. The state of California has its budget said by the state Legislature. You are one of the members of the Legislature who votes on the budget. I would imagine that if your e d d one of the phone calls that you will take our from members of the state Legislature because you rely on them for your funding when your constituents or having trouble getting money that's owed to them. And you or your office calls D do they take the call? And if so, what reaction do you get? Well, I will tell you in the very beginning. They were fairly responses to when we would, you know, try toe kind of fast tracked something that for someone who had been waiting a very long time and it was an extreme circumstance. And then that slowly started to wane. And then we found out that an internal memo memo told them that their to tell claimants who call they are never to contact their state legislator. So, yes. So Edie and I found that out, You know, purely by accident, but it was an internal memo. So now they don't want them contacting their legislators because they don't want legislators to find out just how awful it really is. And you know again. You just want to say we already know how bad it is that you know, we're hearing from our constituents. You're not hiding anything, but they have no business whatsoever. Thing. You shouldn't contact your legislator for anything. I don't You know, my head is about to explode. Just thinking about it because there's people hurting. I just sometimes I just get tripped up because I I'm serious. You know, I'm just absolutely serious, but the number of people who are really struggling the amount of depression that's taking place the amount of you know the increase in suicide. The increase in addiction increase in substance abuse all of this stuff. Is all compounded by the fact that the state cannot get their act together and get people their money. There was one of board Newsome's press conferences where he was asked about the and the question was, Why don't you hire more people for the call center, and his answer was essentially It takes some exorbitant amount of time to train them, so that's just not a good option. How is it that if you're just triaging calls and you're trying to get people to whatever department they need to go to why can't you train them in some reasonable amount of time? Well, when I'm wondering, just based on that comment is is that the same amount of training required for, say, brain surgery because I don't think it is and I'm pretty sure given that we're six months into this pandemic, but he has had plenty of time to train and hire more people to handle the claims that are coming in for him to suggest that it's just too difficult and too cumbersome to train people is just ridiculous. I mean, give me a break. When you talk to the Democrats in the state Legislature because they have constituents who are trying to get their DD two. Are they starting to get frustrated with it? Or are they just so in line with the state public employee unions? You can't criticize them? Well, there have been a handful who have been critical. Yes, and I have when my former colleagues in the assembly David Chu, and he's from the Bay Area in Hee and I'd actually talk frequently about this, and we both You know, we're talking about the fact that suddenly when we started criticizing e D. It seems they're responsiveness to request seemed to drop off substantially, so they're not very happy with us. But no, it isn't just Republicans. There are Democrats to now not nearly as many as I would like. They're frustrated. They're just not being as vocal about it. But that's what's going to take is for. You know his own party to say, Hey, man, you kind of do you have to fix this? You can't just keep ignoring this problem, and and he just, You know, he's he's so busy trying to grab headlines. And get national media attention that he's ignoring the things that are going on in his own backyard for the very people he's supposed to represent. So Democrats need to get on board more than area..

"The morning drive. John Phillips in Jillian barberie the fun way to manage your commute morning. Six to ten j ABC. News straight talk, seven ABC. Welcome back. This is the Ben Shapiro show. So we could be talking about Jesse smaller. If you're in the media, you could be talking about one of the worst racial hoaxes in modern history reminiscence of Tawana Brawley, fake rape case. Now, Sharpton, I do find it super humorous that Sharpton says that jussie smollet should be punished for his fake hate crime allegations, Al Sharpton became famous on the basis of a fake racist rape allegation. And he is on MSNBC now. So yeah, there's that. But they could we could we could be talking about that through the mainstream media maybe box story, really badly. Now. It'd be a good time for you to talk about why did we box that story so badly. Do we have some ulterior motives, you can we are not willing to look at? Maybe we could have some analysis of whether America is in fact, a racist, sexist bigoted homophobe place, or whether this is a pretty country. Maybe we could cover the jussie smollet story. In other words, even after turns out that it's a hoax because the hoax itself is a major story or maybe we should continue to cover Virginia where you'll recall just two weeks ago. Let's talk about the top three Democrats resigning all three remained in place. The governor of Virginia openly endorsing a form of infanticide. And then following that one up with a nineteen eighty-five yearbook photo in which there's a man in black face and another guy in a KKK outfit. He says neither of them are him. But he also did the moonwalk is Michael Jackson and black face in like nineteen Eighty-four. So we could be talking about why he's still in office. We could be talking about why his Lieutenant governor Justin Fairfax who has now been accused by two separate women of sexual assault. Both of whom have gone on record with names. And some corroborating details why he's still in office. Could be talking about attorney general Mark herring over in that state who admitted back in one thousand nine hundred he dressed up as a rapper and put on black face to do. So could be talking about all we could be talking about Illinois, Omar and the wild anti-semitism of the Democrats. There are lots of things to talk about. Instead the media have decided to manufacture a few controversies and talk about those so controversy number one. There is a report in the UK Daily Mail, then Malia Obama or Aachen Michelle's daughter who is now twenty years old. She's just shy of twenty one that she apparently was at some sort of resort. She has a Facebook page that has a hidden Facebook page in which she bad mouths, President Trump, and she was drinking Rosa. Wow. Why should we possibly care about this daughter of democratic president doesn't like Donald Trump? Mind blown also twenty year old girl, drinking wine, no way. I mean, that's crazy. So the entire conservative bloggers everyone in conservative punditry, everyone on Twitter, everyone on Facebook was like why has the story? Like I'm supposed to care about me Obama having some wine at age twenty and not liking Donald Trump in. What ways is the story. It wasn't the story. The media decided to cover it. As though it were a story is oh conservatives were deeply deeply upset about me. Bama. So Ana Navarro who is a now full Republican over on CNN. She tweeted out to those hating. I'm me Obama for sharing a bottle of Rosa in Florida this weekend just shy of being Twenty-one. Diane Skoda's drink himself into oblivion in highschool. That'd be cavenaugh die in the White House goes to Florida most weekends on taxpayer dollars me as a private citizen with good tasting wine. So what fifty one thousand lakes Twitter, no one can name a single conservative. Who's actually upset about me? Obama not one conservative like you can't find them. But black America web dot com. Say me Obama sparks conservative outrage over her underage drinking can they name a single a single conservative. Who is seriously upset about this? Like any of them? Of course, not they can't name EMMY. But that's how stopping and Chelsea Clinton says me Obama is a private citizen, no part of her life. She anyone's click bait. The basically the left is proclaiming that the right is very upset about a thing without being upset about the thing. No one on the right is upset about this thing. It's insane. Imani Gandhi who is a senior legal analyst with rewire news said conservatives are frothing at the mouth over me. Obama drinking Rosetta party just shy of her twenty first birthday. No, we're not no one cares. The reason this drives everybody nuts. The reason this drives people much is. Because what the left is is. They point out someone doing something dumb or irrelevance, and they're like you can serve your so mad about this. Like, no, we're not mad about that. At all, actually, like, no, no. That just shows. You're mad. We're we're not mad like ha ha, you know, you're angry. And you're angry means you're racist. See now. Now, the fact that you're even bothering to deny it means. You are superman. What are what are you talking that? You're you're making things up out of thin air. So that is not the only controversy made up out of thin air. It turns out that Jesse smaller story about America being super racist is ally. So what do Democrats do what you folks in the media? Do they go back in the up an interview with John Wayne in one thousand nine hundred seventy one from playboy? Now, it is worth noting. The when John Wayne did this interview received an enormous amount of scrutiny? In fact, California opted not to proclaim John Wayne day several years ago because there are all these statements in which John Wayne sound like a racist or a sexist, but now, but now a bunch of people have dug up as nineteen seventy-one playboy magazine interview that again it was famous in. It's time and call and call John Wayne a racist. Sex sexist, bigot, homophobic, he's just the worst. And these quotes are indefensible, obviously, like John Wayne said about African Americans. I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. Okay, bad. So what are we gonna do dig up? John Wayne, actually dig up his corpse in yell at it. John Wayne must be forced to recant. He's been dead for fifty seven years. What are you talking about forty seven years like half a century? Take him up and be like, you know, what we're not showing. We're not showing reruns of the quiet man until you recant, these views, skull and bones. Inanimate objects that was once a human. What what John Wayne first of all he said this in nineteen seventy-one. Now, this is not great stuff in nineteen seventy-one. But nineteen seventy-one was also not two thousand nineteen. Also, John Wayne was born in one thousand nine hundred seven I love when people like John Wayne were alive today. We'd go after John Wayne were alive today. He'd be one hundred and eleven years old if John Wayne were alive today, he'd be the oldest living human he'd be praised for that alone. But we are supposed to I guess now ban. All John Wayne movies because John Wayne had some silly views about about race and about sex. It really we're going to get if you are living in a country rich enough that you can afford to get angry about interviews that happened fifty years ago from after who died fifty years ago, let me suggest you don't have enough problems in your life. A lot of people a lot of problems in this world. Not a lot of them are thinking about actors from fifty years ago who said something that makes them angry Vanessa Redgrave is still acting today. She full on stumped for the PLO in the nineteen seventies like the Palestine Liberation Organization. An actual terrorist group Vanessa Redgrave had connections with that group. Am I waking up every morning piston Vanessa Redgrave, Jane Fonda still on television during the Vietnam war posed with the Viet Cong on an anti-aircraft piece of of artillery for the vehicle. She still has a career is anybody like waking up in the morning, piss off Jane Fonda, not a lot of people. John Wayne is a full two generations older than those people were digging. This stuff we're supposed to be very very angry John way, deeply important. We must be angry. What no more John Wayne movies? In fact, let's just get rid of all movies from this period because basically before the Civil Rights Act segregation was way of life in America. We need to ban all the movies, all the movies must be bad. Let's just stop it. I'm sure that there was a grip working on some of these movies who've probably a pro segregationist racist. I'm positive I'm positive that many of the actors it turns out actors very often don't know things. Also, some actors are reprobates, I know breaking news and people back in nineteen seventy may have had some bad news on race, some very very bad views. Wow. But I guess we're supposed to talk about that. Or I guess we can talk about the sexism of the World War Two sailor kissing the nurse. This is another story from today. The Associated Press police in Florida wants to know who spray painted hashtag metoo on the leg of a statue. Depicting a sailor dental assistant kissing at the end of World War, Two Sarasota, police said in a news release that officers found the phrase painted and read on the left leg of the woman in the unconditional surrender statue in Sarasota early on Tuesday, the paint covered the length of the nurses like we are. So pathetic as a people we have to go back into face statues paying homage to America winning World War Two with hashtag metoo. Now, if you look at the picture that picture from the end of World War Two from from vide when you look at that picture of the sailor arriving back in the United States and kissing a dental assistant bending over backwards and kissing her. If what you get from that is vile, rape culture. Let me suggest you know, nothing about World War Two nothing about joy. Nothing about history. Nothing that anything, frankly, if you look at that statue, and the I thought you have is he sexually abusing her come on, by the way, the sailor who kissed the dental assessment assistant. He died at age ninety five on Sunday. Maybe we should take him up to prosecute him for violation of metoo code, man. Our country is really stupid, really really really stupid. And there are more stupid stories that we are supposed to cover more stupid stories were supposed to worry about. I'll explain another stupid story this time folks, attacking actor, Chris Pratt. So the great sin of being a Christian. We'll get to that. In just a second. First. Let's talk about.

"The morning drive with John Phillips in Jillian barberie the fun way to manage your commute morning. Six to ten j ABC. Welcome back. This is the Ben Shapiro show. So in a little while we're gonna have on Abigail schreier. She's a columnist for the Wall Street Journal talking about he social engineering that's happening by the left. But before we get to Abigail schreier. I gotta talk to you about what the left is trying to do. Karen pens because it's really despicable. So Karen pants is the wife of vice President Mike Pence, and she has committed the grave sin of teaching at a Christian school. I know it's really really upsetting. What did she do that? So terrible. Well, she's going to teach art Emmanuel Christian school, and like most Christian schools and most religious Jewish schools in most religious Muslim schools. Emmanuel Christian school requires parents and perspective employees to sign off on a series of principles, including those that denounce homosexual and bisexual activity as moral misconduct. Applicants must also firm that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman married to each other which happens to be the religious standard of morality going back several thousand years, here's what these standards say moral misconduct, which. Violates the boat fide occupational qualifications for employees includes but is not limited to such behaviors as the following heterosexual activity outside of marriage, for example, premarital sex cohabitation extramarital, sex, homosexual homosexual or lesbian sexual activity polygamy transgender identity any other violation of the unique roles of male and female sexual harassment use or viewing of pornographic material or website and sexual abuse or impropriety toward miners as defined by scripture and federal or state law. This is what it says on the application Ila sexual immorality, as among the many causes of termination parents whose kids attend the private case rates must promise to live a life of personal moral, purity and the knowledge that the school reserves the right to refuse admission to students who engage in homosexual activity or bisexual activity again, this traditional religious standard and traditional religious standard is not targeting homosexual or bisexual activity alone targeting any extramarital sexual activity it's targeting pornography. Presumably at targets drug use. The fact is that this is all traditional religious stuff, but Taryn pants must be excised from polite society for being a Christian. That's really what this comes down to. And this is why I have been saying for legitimately years at this point that when it comes to the left view of social activity. They they are not willing to stop at the gates of your church. They're not wants to stop at the gates of your home. They're not willing to stop at the gates of your private Christian school. They want those institutions destroyed. They want my private religious school destroyed. They wanna be able to run it. They won't remove its accreditation. They want to remove its nonprofit status, they want us adjusted to discriminatory place. And if you send their kids there your innately discriminatory. This will be the next push over the next ten years is that religious schools cannot continue to exist in a society that disagrees with religious principles that secular principles on social leftism must be the prevalent ones that once we have banned, quote, unquote discrimination against LGBT people that this amounts to private institutions that teach immoral about the morality of particular behaviors. Must themselves be cracks down on by the state. You will see this happen. It's going to happen. And it's going to happen in the very near future. Over the next ten years. This will become the prevalent motive argument among Democrats. It's going to happen starting in places like California where they already tried to go after the nonprofit status to the boy scouts when the boy scouts weren't. Allowing gay scout masters. It is only a matter of time before they start removing nonprofit status of churches synagogues private schools and then start removing the accreditation from those schools saying you cannot send your kid to one of these schools less you be abusing your child, and we'll accuse you of truancy for send your kids to these schools. And what if you remove your kid from one of these schools and home school? Well, then they will ask you whether you are teaching their acquired LGBT curriculum in your home in the state of California. It's already required that the LGBT curriculum be taught in k through twelve in public schools. It's only a matter of time until they start requiring it in private schools as well. And if you refuse if you say that violates our religious principles, or if you say fine happy to teach also teach that this active. Is Biblically immoral. Then they will crackdown on you on your school tolerance does not extend to Christian viewpoints to Judeo Christian viewpoints in western civilization. According to the left, secular viewpoints, must prevail. This is an actual war on religion that is happening right now and the targeted Karen pants is just a symptom of that. It's the same sort of targeting that we saw Jack Phillips in the masterpiece cake shop pace in Colorado. This guy's now been targeted by LGBT activists multiple times for not using his art to bake them. A cake for activities to celebrate sin in his view. This is not about it. Truly is not about tolerance for the left. It's about cramming down their view of society on people turn Pence woman told the Huffington Post. It's absurd that her decision to teach art to children at a Christian school and the schools religious beliefs are under attack. I love this. They say it is unclear how long school has had this policy in place. I'm gonna go with since forever. It's like how the media get randomly upset when they realize at odd times that the pope still support traditional marriage and opposes homosexual activity in abortion help with the pope do this. We'll since always since always you've decided you're like what the pope has to say. And you're going to use the tools of government to crack down on people. I'm not saying that you can't send your kids to a school. That is pro LGBT rights. Why are you telling me that I can't send my kid to a school that says that certain activity as sinful, especially when that school isn't saying that they're pushing for legislation to outlaw that activity. This is not we can't live in a society like this. There will not be a common social fabric. If we insist that people whose religious views of sin differ from our own cannot be allowed in polite society or must be castigated for teaching in schools that are just teaching the values that have upheld the fundamentals of western civilization for the and built western civilization. Frankly, the last several thousand years, it's pretty amazing. "John Phillips in Jillian barberie the fun way to manage your commute morning. Six to ten KABC. Welcome back. This is the Ben Shapiro show. So Democrats are going to be on defensive after President Trump's speech tonight. Their strategy is going to beat you bring up a Bill from two thousand thirteen and claim that Trump should just signed that thing. Now that Bill was so bad. Marco Rubio, Senator Rubio who was one of the original sponsors of that Bill backed away from it in two thousand sixteen when he was running for president and a little bit before saying, it was a mistake to have sign-ons that Bill Democrats, however are trying to revive that Bill wykes got sixty eight votes in the Senate, and it was stopped by Republican House. Fourteen Republicans voted in favor of that twenty thirteen comprehensive immigration reform Bill Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, he was out there saying that this is what Republicans should do. They should bring back up that Bill because that Bill at least had some money for border security, all it'll take amnesty for eleven million illegal immigrants. We're going to have to secure the border. We've always said that you go clear back to the twenty thirteen immigration reform Bill that we did in the Senate, and we passed it with a majority of Democrats and Republicans think it was sixty eight votes who's a tremendous. Piece of legislation if the president would say this Chris we're going to bring that 2013 immigration reform Bill backup within the thirty day drop within thirty days. It has to be voted on cannot be filibustered cannot be blocked out. We're going to have to take a vote on the floor. If he would do that. He would get what he needs. Okay. Jeff Merkley making the same point democrat from Oregon. He also wants the twenty thirteen Bill. This is going to be the new democratic talking point. It's going to be well, if Trump really wants border security, let's just do a comprehensive solution now Democrats constantly wanna talk comprehensive solution because they don't like the idea of bifurcating the issue. The issue should be bifurcated. What we do with the people here has nothing to do with securing the border nothing. Okay. Why we are tying citizenship for the people who are already here to securing the boards. Prevent new people from coming in is beyond me. And the fact that everyone keeps trying to tie them together is demonstrative of why the government fails the government likes passing thousand page bills that are packed with crap. And then suggesting they've solved the problem when indeed they've solved. Nothing. They tried this back in the nineteen eighties. They declared amnesty they said, it would be the last amnesty. Obviously it was not. But here is Jeff Merkley claiming that the Republicans should bring back up that terrible 2013 Bill two thousand thirteen we had a comprehensive immigration Bill. A number of folks have tried to say to the administration, we have a broken immigration system. Let's fix it. That's how bipartisan Bill like the one that passed the the Senate and would have passed the House Republicans who blocked it. But as times vote, we we are happy to provide money for border security that isn't the issue. So this is going to be there talking point is let's go back to that twenty thirteen Bill. You know, when when Democrats ran the government, let's go back to let's go back to that Bill when it was not Mitch McConnell in charge. Well, let's do that by the way, Mitch McConnell opposed that Bill, right? Mitch McConnell, and the Republican leadership opposed at twenty thirteen border bell why because that border Bill is filled with with amnesty for eleven point five million illegal immigrants as of January twenty eleven it's actually a low number. It would have created a registered provisional immigrant status that would grant travel and work authorisation similar to temporary resident status of nineteen eighty six. It would have streamlined the naturalization process for unlawful immigrants. It would have said that anyone whose presence in the US honor before December thirty first twenty eleven would qualify for amnesty, which would create a massive opportunity for fraud and how about that border security. Right. You hear the Democrats you're saying if we go back to that twenty thirteen Bill there was border security in it except for not except for not okay? What this Bill did was it suggested that the department of homeland security would have to convince the implementation of the southern border security strategy and fencing strategy before the secretary could begin processing applications for amnesty. Okay. Do you think under a democrat lasts for five minutes? Other would happen is that the Democrats would just declare that the border is secure. Look, we have a new strategy. Our strategy is the border security. Go ahead and process, all the amnesty. This is why the only thing that matters when it comes to President Trump's overall immigration policy is the stuff. That cannot be undone. The president can do a better job of deporting folks, that's fine. The president can change the status with regard to e-verify, for example, you can push harder in certain areas of immigration enforcement, but Democrats can undo all that stuff. Democrats will not undo they're not going to go to the desert and start digging up steel slats that have already been placed down. It's one of the reasons why when the Trump administration declared that it was moving the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. You know, there are folks like me saying to the Trump administration get that sucker built now before the Democrats simply recant the opposite recant the statement. And the same thing is true of the wall wall cannot be undone. Once it is done, which is one of the reasons Democrats are fighting it so hard, and why they're pushing for the two thousand thirteen Bill which would not have included a wall either. It really is amazing. So what what does the other angled? The Democrats are taking so angle number one is they should they should take border security without a while. We don't wanna wall. Hey, that's going to be a hard that. Honestly, it's gonna be an uphill climb for Democrats because most Americans understand on a gut level that walls. Do exactly what walls have always been designed to do by the way, it is. It is pretty incredible to watch. As members of the comedic, the so-called comedic community. Try to weigh in on all of this demonstrates that. No, one can actually defend the Democrats program on this. No, one can actually find the Democrats program that aboard wall or border security doesn't matter. No one south Meyers tried to do it. Right. Said Meyers last night. He again, he spends all of his time going after the supposed- fact listeners of the Trump administration rather than talking about the fact that a wall would actually be a useful thing. Thoroughly incoherent incapable of telling the truth. He shouldn't get to address the nation just to repeat his lies. If he calls up the networks asking for airtime, they should pick up the phone and say, President Trump. We don't know who that is. Okay. First of all, I don't know what happened to comedy. That's not even close to comedy from Seth Meyers. But this is what the Democrats are afraid of having to defend their positions. It is that simple. So force them to defend their positions. Instead, the Democrats are swivelling so they swivelled to the twenty thirteen immigration Bill. And now they're swiveling to the argument that President Trump is an unprecedented threat to national security. I'll explain why they're saying that now also explain how President Trump should respond to that. In just a second plus Bill de Blasio now claiming that he wants nationalized healthcare in New York City, but he doesn't know what he's talking about as per our, usual range. We'll get to all of that in just one second. I so I know this year, you are worried about your healthcare coverage..
