"Grading Jason's Predictions" - Episode 040 - burst 3

"You said that the cubs would miss the playoffs that year. Two nine hundred and you were corrected fell apart. The bears would make the playoffs in two thousand nineteen. That obviously do not happen and that you would do the dishes at home. You would be nicer. Oh wait that was. One of my predictions never mind. We'll we'll take that one off. Okay i like this here. The end of the summer early fall of two thousand and nineteen are episode. Qb or not cuba's mitch trubisky with nfl networks. Charley casserly. You predicted that kanye west album would come out the next day and it did it. Did that was the day before homecoming. Yup and how do you feel about that that last album so the album suck don't know i i can assure you as they come out. They came out that day at school. I remember right after a test. All right you also said that the bulls were going to make the playoffs and ridiculous and absurd. Possibly forty six wins. Yeah now that has not been happening. Has it all right. We move on then to the cubs new manager episode twelve david ross knock grandpa rossi and that was with author. Dan yeager that joined the show. You predicted that. Zach levine would do the dunk contest in chicago. He'd been not He's not he was going to if you made the all star team and he was stopped so technically i was wrong but he had every intention of doing it until he got from the all sorts of you also predicted that the grammy nominations young thugs albums. So much fun would be not in. I had a huge problem with the grammy. Nominations that you back to back years the rat. Nominations have been just absurd so that didn't happen and actually a lot of Very well well versed people in the music world no pun intended Thought that that album should have won the grammy and it wasn't even nominated how That was incorrect. You also predicted that kris. Bryant would be traded that offseason which would have been prior to last year's pandemic season which obviously did not happen. But maybe it should have right. Maybe you should have happened. Oh no absolutely should have happened. Yeah exactly all right. Let's go to our giving. Thanks on thanksgiving. Two thousand nine nineteen. We did not do predictions. That was a mini episode in. Which you pretty much ripped everyone that you've ever sat next to in my family during thanksgiving that made a lasting impression on my family. Let me just tell you that episode. Fourteen back to david ross. This time with the interview. That i did with david ross. You predicted that. During the winter meetings the sox would sign dallas kaikal. And they did. They did and they did. Yep you also said that they would make a trade for a controllable player defined that and they did make changes. So would you identify someone as a contract player. Think back That they would trade her controllable player. Okay so they did not. But what the dallas cycle was pretty darn big so i'm gonna give that to the clinical moods pretty big. I think should get credit for that.

"Good things they helped me and as we continue to DO we recognize all those on the front lines who are continuing to put their lives in danger to help the entire world wherever it's in our city in the suburbs in different states different countries all the people are making the world a run as we needed to and the nurses and the doctors and everybody who are trying to be selfless in this are shot out in tip of the cap continues to be towards you people and and all the people out there keeping the supply chain going to everything that we need to do to function as a world yes the delivery drivers and the restaurant owners and all of that then the truck drivers and the first responders and policemen firemen every night like there are so many pages of the mail carriers the delivery drivers with the packages and everything like I thought Amazon yesterday while on a Sunday and I know they deliver every day of the week like the Amazon truck came down our street and it stopped it every person in a house thank you it's just the woman who is working with gloves on and she just went to everybody's front door yesterday because we all need to stop what I was gonna say it seems like the best way to get what you can get as long as you can get what you need from them you know I mean it's it's better picking up a group of packages on your front doorstep probably than going to a local grocery store if you can you can do it through that that route absolutely I will get to the ball store here in a minute a lot of response waddle as you would imagine it's a very subjective thing to the broadcasters Paul less than the way we come up with the poll is we take our number one answers why don't when I favor national broadcaster had al Michaels Adalah I had John Madden N. Miller who did you had met him you in bed in a valid who Brent Musburger Brent Musburger so we came up with those three names and other and people are saying there's a lot of Keith Jackson love that keep Gazans not on the list of people voting other and I forgot to mention on the poll question as well this is a national broadcaster discussion we wanted to take the bias out we wanted to take the Jack brick houses out there Hary Kerry's out you know hi Carol soon at the that a lot of people you know how you're very biased when it comes to your local play by play people or or or you know color commentator Natalie broadcasters sportscasters and it could be the analyst or it could be the play by play voice so we'll continue to keep that open for if you want to react three one two three three two three seven seven six but what of the bulls made some changes yes I do you and then you received yes I said this still caller earlier have the bulls continually kicked us as as loyal big time fans the answer is yes is John Paxson still a member of the organization the answer is yes but I'm not gonna sit here and complain today when for years I've been asking for a fresh set of eyes the answer to that is no I'm not gonna complain today I am going to let their work lead me into whether I give them a huge round of applause or whether I continue to criticize them but today I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because of the things that I heard that John Paxson is not running the show the Michael Reinsdorf and I want to play the buy it now if you can get that Michael Reinsdorf but again and towards the end is the money part says the John Paxson went to women basically said not that he would step away if asked to because of course people step away when they're asked to who doesn't step away when they're asked to do you know what I mean if you're fired you're fired you walk away but then you know I I I I have found that funny that a lot of people have mentioned oh well Hey packs that he would step away as fast too is it usually how it works yeah no I'm not allow you to fire me well I mean you've been given a lot of credit for that and to me I find that sort of comical that if you're asked to leave it's time to leave well there were some people also just thought that out of the benevolence that he would show to the team he'd walk away because he wasn't successful the last several years and I think that's what Reinsdorf says in this by towards the end that to me why I am taking the most hope out of it because he doesn't necessarily bring up that point he brings up the point about how John said to him he thinks there needs to be a new leader that he is not the right leader anymore and that was in essence him saying I'm gonna move I'm taken me out of the equation so with John to the side yes he still employed he's an advisor he's been with the team for thirty five years I can ask them to get rid of that total loyalty after thirty five years if he's clearly the adviser in fine if he's got the ownership years fine but if they let condition this run the organization the way off true front man dies I'm good with that yes guard leave the building today they will in my opinion as Jim Boylan to leave the building and this is going to be his show and that's today waddle why I'm not arguing with what the bulls have done today and yesterday I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt I I don't I don't have a beef right now I asked for the same thing new set of eyes do decision maker based on everything that's being said by people in the league this was a good choice you could argue that it was their choice the process of making the choice you know was was filled with questionable things but ultimately they landed on a guy that that seems to be you know universally liked and equipped for the role I we are we I I believe that that they've removed John from decision making I don't I personally am going to trust that this guy has full control over his organization so I'm not gonna gnash my teeth and and worry about it any longer this is change I ask for change I asked for a new guide to have full autonomy right now I believe he has it you may prove me right it may prove me wrong but based on what I've been looking for I feel like I I've been given what I've asked for so here's the sound bite from Michael listen towards the end again about how John phrased it to them John Paxson and they didn't bring in like a guy who packs could be the public for they didn't bring in some Ron new guy like Kirk Heinrich or someone with team connections where he could still sort of running from the background I believe this is true change and this is what Michael said today and their teleconference John Paxson came to me and my dad back I think it was around December and we started talking and he felt that we needed the organization needed to make a change in operating thought we were to set in our ways and you know when you look at our past while the primer has long been one of the smallest departments in the league and and really grow with the times and in John's words we needed to make changes in terms of the leadership and structure that would set up the bulls in next ten to fifteen years essentially I think we want to do is make changes there were not only address immediate needs but also would set the bills up for long term success in during these conversations are John and there are multiple multiple conversations John also made it clear to us that he would change his role or step down that's what was best for the Chicago Bulls because of the update he's Chicago well that's what he cares most about at the end of the day with John he's really good at is he's really good at simplifying the issue and when he said the next ten to fifteen years comment to me that really really just stuck with me so during this time John and I were talking and meeting on a regular basis I start to share with him what I was learning John continue to share with me what he was thinking it was kind of disappointed John indicated to my dad and me that he was no longer at the right person to lead the Chicago Bulls that's really the kind of person John is an only I've always said that I said when the time came to make a change John would be the one to let us know and that is indeed what ended up happening so he said he wasn't the right person to run the team anymore that in in in a sense it's him stepping down you know and and I don't know if they phrased it that way to make it easier but that to me that little chunk at the end waddle is it like why would they they they have been cool with having gar and pax run the show and they don't have to hide anything so why would if it packs is truly going to be running the team still with with all the authority it why would they bring you that I don't know what they're being honest with us I agree look I I wanted a new a fully have with full autonomy decision maker got it I wanted a larger front office staff because as you just heard the owners say they've been behind the times it looks like they've taken already a couple of steps in that direction with more steps to come got it I need a young I need somebody to to develop these young players in a better manner than than I've seen them develop to this point my dissipation is you'll get that as well so so I got a new set of eyes a new decision maker a a a commitment to a larger front office staff and hopefully a new guy leading the team and a new guy who's going to get a chance to developing young players all right I understand there's some skeptics out there but to me it's a good day yes yes and I did the way I'm taking it to me listen anything outside of them selling the team yeah you could say like you said earlier look there there are a lot of decisions or several decisions that that Paxson gar made that were influenced by ownership selling second round pick doing other things looking boy nine you can't change that lets the owner sells the team and that was it realistic yes so based on all of that today I today's a good day for me is a bulls fan so I don't need a pound of flesh I don't need anybody you know they made their decisions I don't I'm not someone that needed to see packs all this stuff put a box and moved out of the building because he's going to metal I just personally don't believe that's going to be the case and I think everything you describe everything you heard today is proof positive that that won't be the case so if he wants to if the run stores want to have a continuing relationship with someone that's been their employee and somebody a trusted confidante for thirty years I I'm I'm not gonna sit in in pound my fist on the table over that I'm just not sold one bottle just said today's a good day for bulls fans that's the way I feel are you willing to say that the bulls fan out there three one two three three two three seven seven six are you happy right now we knew about this move with current condition this last week that he was getting the job but we didn't know whether or not car would be reassigned or would he be relieved of his duties he was relieved of his duties we didn't know what John Paxson role would be you clearly heard it from the owner that he is not running this team that he admitted he's not the right guy to run the team so I can't guarantee you how carnage of this is going to do is he going to be bold is he going to recruit a free agent are the bulls gonna be championship contenders I can't promise you any of that we're all going to learn about him together we can play some of the stuff he said the.

"Thousand talks Marxism very tough five game road trip coming up it starts Sunday evening in Winnipeg I went there twice on this road trip in one page one of teams chasing that AC like the hawks are you know Calgary right down the calorie loss I think at home listening to the president not mistaken the preservation the game I point out the hawks are couple points out Calgary's right they're all bunched up at the bottom just gonna be really tough road trip and a white Mike north on one hour from now with his best plays bonus play for Carmen your goal here is John Paxson yesterday when asked why the vets didn't get moved I don't feel like this is to just give somebody way nothing and nothing presented itself that's that's true that's yeah well that that's well when we signed that I felt is was better leadership this play with us again it's been kind of another distorting your with the injuries but I think some flowers and I've seen that can be value that'll be the term that's become I can't tell you how many minutes I know that when we do get our guys back now for so five minutes a game so so there's gonna be minutes for taking Samson original premise about a difficult season hours Adams need for you to see where he's at but also bouncing that would be seen as a cornerstone I was on the road how do you approach sentient it'll come in time there's nothing difficult because you don't really quite know no idea but we do want the last twenty plus games for yourself you we want to have a better feel but I I believe Larry had very good first your second we believe that's the player that he is so we'll we'll that's down the road we don't have to make those.

"You and in the cookie jar is I did this with Ryan pace to the that really what he said to John Paxson quote were you supposed to determine what we have we if everybody's out with injury we weren't going to be buyers per se we were going to trade Zach Lowry Kobe when dal because we don't know what we have in them yeah see I didn't say the first part you didn't know you Dale that if you hit it my point is is you don't know what you have in them yet for more reason it's not the injuries it's because the guy who is on your side line on a night in and night bases from my humble perspective isn't making them better are helping develop them now again I'm usually one that will first and I always will say the responsibility is with the player so I will even say that the responsibilities with Zach Kobe Lowry and went down no question but it's a it's a combo thing to be developed young players need to be developed I've said that about football all the time they're two aspects of football identifying talent in developing talent it is the players responsibility to do everything necessary to get the most out of their ability Chuck Holmes yeah that's the thing that people say about my homes if you would be with the bears would he be the same you the perfect situation where a guy with a great skill set was with one of the great quarterback developers of this generation and you developed image probably credit to both of them yes my home but still in the re knows how to develop a guy that's why it's a hand in glove type of thing and that's why when you are saying that you don't know what you have just yet part of the reason that you don't know what you have just yet in my opinion is how many games is Jim Boylen been coaching they'll sixty going back to last year yeah no no he said a full season is in full so you he probably sat we still believe in Jimmy's trying to get the best out of our players has he's given another vote of confidence to Jim Boylan he has not mentioned Jim Boyle cat as far as I know com yeah but he has been asked directly he's there right now the reporter asking mostly about players yeah he does believe the only marking it is a cornerstone player they have long term belief and Zach mean and our market they're also saying that they expect Otto Porter Lowry market and when dell back by the end of the month I was a little surprised when we talk to marginal ski earlier and he said that he thought that there's a very good chance that that that Lori marketing would potentially be trade in the offseason twitch I would say do you really know who he is he was seventeen and a half million other things that we they had a boob coaching them for a year he's only twenty two and we get our hands on this guy and that's the reason why you don't trading as well for the same reason another getting what the heck well for him in another player him in your this is my point this is why I want Doug Collins to come in and write in on his white horse in at least coaches team for the final thirty games and see if you can develop some of them J. aren't per when Jay are your any Aspin one thousand that's real yeah Johnny doesn't sound like that anymore I think John is again it leads to sophomore I was there she ready yeah dusty Baker's son is right age now absolutely not men yeah I I think that can remain I feel bad for because I think we don't appreciate him as much as we should he he's one of great talent man he is one of the best goals we hear about it and what I mean is you can go to that point a night by himself because they don't drop up in place for him they just given the body cruises on offense if you notice begin the bathrooms settle asking said us out or whatever his name is sent and we just and and and if you notice the just put him in the corner and stand by the three point line instead of moving on to the basket or making about going to the basket and give some seventy three point I mean this didn't really he's such a Blu ray I mean even if you don't know what he's going let's go I can use that as a we try to keep a little bit late only at Indian Addison wants to call me out handy Hey what's going on you will question yeah what are you smoking what makes you think that hair grows getting his number worn over twenty three would cause more of an uproar because the rabbit it was sort of said in jest it's because of the rapid D. roses numbers anywhere retired and when a player comes here to want to wear it the Twitter mob goes after this player that's fair and shamed him to give it up think I'll I'll crazy that is no I agree with that but if someone war twenty three Chicago not only with Chicago football the entire NBA will look out I guess you're talking in the what if K. D. is totally healthy next year he wants out of Brooklyn he says I want to go play for the bulls but only like where twenty three would you let him no no no I would not I I think Judy has enough respect for the game to not make that record this is a fantasy question no yeah yeah obviously but it is a we're brown as well I went T. D. or he said let's see that yeah this is in Milwaukee yeah this is sick of playing for that small town any once the big time income ninety miles southeast tired of all the people at the gas stations there's things going on in there and then this yeah and yeah they said guys I want to be a bull but I idolized Michael and I want to pay tribute and if you I'm retired twenty three I'll sign on the dotted line right now and sign a five year Max deal would you do are your probably not now oh boy I would probably as Michael first then you Gerry I guarantee has the answer is going to be no because so that's why wait even twenty three in other sports such as basketball is like a hollowed number like everybody want to be like Mike not just the best quality one B. clutch like and so of course I mean there's football players that were twenty three because of Michael Jordan lake it's it's got your in sports that shouldn't like the legendary in every sport you know what I mean here's a difference between and this was a you know what maybe we should do do this when we come back there's a difference between that scenario in the one you mentioned earlier yeah there's a huge difference can we all we got Andy Reid coming up and then I want to take more of your phone calls three one two three three two three seven seven six and we'll spend you back the John Paxson press conference at the United center having a ton of fun today more coming up next you're.

panel right now the real cops show anybody hi yeah that's how formal I am I I have two thirds camp for it to be just a week a week raising a week sure can hold his alarm after I was fourteen I believe talk about it I got I got old like north shore Jewish kids on this panel here and with the camera take care okay okay temperature yes and then your source stable tamarack day well you know it's really funny because I could not tell you now I would like for five years I could not tell you where it is affecting the line full that was weird it was like when you have to go to bat right and they would like line full the penguin before the team back in we had no idea unlike apparently isn't anyone to come out for like parents didn't even know when we feel like for parents say they're like well we "Forty fifty nine. Ninety, but come on, man, don't compare him to Michael Jordan. All these. He's on a stack team. So he's gonna look a lot better. Boy, you know, Ed, any, thank you. Look, I think comparing Steph curry to Michael Jordan. Is closer to being right? Then comparing him to Steve Kerr now come on, or John Paxson or someone like that Steph curry is not a bench player three point specialist. Let's be fair. Steph curry did some special things. What was it game? Fair. I think it was game four where he had the head the big game. And Golden State still lost. I do believe I'm trying to remember off top of my head. Yeah. As game four. That guy special is he Michael Jordan. Come on now. There's only a couple of guys now that we've been able to compare to Michael Jordan, and that was Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Those guys in Jordan there in the rare air. You know, I think. I love choline Leonard right now. I think right now he is the best player in the league. And by the ways in his prime is only twenty seven there's more of the Colli Leonard, I think is going to show us, but I wouldn't put him in that category. But come on me, if you were to say, Steph curry is closer to Michael, Jordan, or Steve Kerr, the world would answer, Michael Jordan, but he's not Michael Jordan. If that makes sense eight five five two one, two,.

"Nineteen ninety seven game six. The ready Jordan, damn will better be ready an NBA player. And he. Yeah. I conduct bench layer moment. Yeah. I guess Joe when I saw this happened, I did not think I'd be talking about Steve Kerr twenty some odd years later. But here we are, is that guys only become more relevant since he was like, what I thought at the time was, like, bootleg John Paxson. You thought he was bootlegged Paxon. I mean, there was a little profiling there. I must admit. Sorry, one or two. Has the number of weeks. The warriors would have waited for bringing back into Kevin Durant at this. The regular season of coding was Steve Kerr tells Sports Illustrated. Bob low. What does that revelation say to you would this have been a revelation if we heard it like the minute before Katie got hurt? That's my first response to this. Because what he's basically saying is if this was the regular season. Yeah, we would not treat this differently, but of course, not it's the playoffs von looney wouldn't be playing with a broken collarbone. Whatever if in fact this was the regular season. But something else that was mentioned in this interview was actually troubling to me. He said that they had no idea that a achilles injury was even on the table. And that to me feels like you are snitching on yourself or someone else in your employee, because that's a terrible side. They stop saying that Chris card over at FOX made the point when this first happened he said he's not going to play even the finals. Why? Because he could pop is a killer. Right. So there are people out here who were able to glean what could happen was a possibility. And apparently the only guy that didn't know what are the one that's. Willing to put his name on it and say that is Steve, Kirk. Now what we also have warriors though got a lot of dues trying to play up tater with Blake, right? Nobody wants to be the one caught left with the blame. And that is where I think, are is there like we maybe would would've done something different, but they never said it was going to be this one thing, just nobody wants to be blind. Yeah. That's right. But the other detail is that one of the people in that nexus of responsibilities. Kevin Durant, and more specifically, Kevin Durant people because what Steve Kerr went on to say. In his interview was not only consulted the medical staff, who is now obviously under the microscope. There was outside opinion. Conceivably brought on by Kevin Durant. There was rich climb in Kevin Durant agent managers slash, conceal Yary and those guys it seems they assessed risk to be minimal enough to also play..

"On buddy? You're on CBS sports radio. How's it going? I want to see Steph. Curry is not the best of all time. He's not even close. First of all his form is ugly. Got some threes. John Paxson, Craig Hodges, Jeff Hornacek. Jeff malone. Larry. Mark price. My move rules. Jerry stink. You know, if I had a gun to my head and my life depended on it. I want Johnny Paxton took that shot, man. I feel like you should put your trust in stuff hands. Uglier? Not I love the call. Appreciate the call. So a couple of ways in all kind of near this list down instead on all fifty forty nine club against season where you shot better than the field. Fifty percent or better forty percents better on three ninety percent. Or better from the free throw line consists of Larry Bird, Mark Price. Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki Steph curry. Malcolm Brogdon in. And I'm forgetting some hall of Famer that I should Steve Nash tonight. If you go to three point somebody forgot time you remember? That's all good. If you go to three point shooting percentage all time in their history the game Steve Kerr's first Seth curry is third Steph is fifth and if you go to true shooting percentage, which almost always favor centers, right? Gee, Andre Jordan is first Maxwell is second in Chandler is third. Because those guys I think a lot of shots that are high efficiency shots. Karl Anthony towns is six. See some some non center's on their Reggie Miller all the way down to tenth around eleventh. Magic at thirteenth harden to fourteenth for Steph. Curry is he's fourth and by far the highest of any non center. Gonzales, man. I don't care. How the swing looks as long as the ball leaves the ballpark. Not as good a reference, but I'm gonna go there because he really sucked at for his first year, but your own woman Joe then. Vanish dance step into the veterans box, basically as officials coming out Steph looks and actually stepped Sean I think it's a thing of UD in it allows him with the quickest release we've seen in the NBA the opportunity to create because what does the NBA about? Now, it's let's space can you create your own space. Normally that means you have a handle which he does by the way that allows you to through deception the ability to penetrate and pull back or however, you going to do it create enough space here shut off. He doesn't need. It any has that gift? I think he's the best shooter fulltime, but appreciate the call. I'm not mad about John Paxson Steve Kerr up on the list. But those those are more clutch guys who are secondary stars. Ray? Allen's on for me staff. Heard Ray Allen Klay Thompson who's about a really high. Always listen that I've just mentioned. Those are the greatest shooters in the history of the game. Anthony in Vegas. What is going on buddy? You're on us CBS sports radio. Bill Greg show as always. I'm glad you took my call the narrative that stars don't wanna play with LeBron James. Question. How much of that is the result of Kyrie not wanting to play with LeBron James. And that perception changed how do we know? Kyrie's clubhouse cancer. Yeah. Great great question. And I I have some insight on this cover the bron- spent a lot of my career being very fortunate to sort of have opportunities because of my coverage, LeBron it's real it's a real. It's a real thing beyond. So there's a few reasons one LeBron is both while the arrogance and super super super bright. Right. So is this interesting. There's intimidation factors on sort of both levels for guys and LeBron doesn't suffer fools. And so it's a tough thing. He wanted to be one of the guys it's hard. Visit also cut you down sort of intellectually in that locker to. And it's such a mean girls thing, but he's still clicky. He's so banana Boakye. She threw in mellow and Dwayne my guys have not in the club. You're not in the club. As I understand it from sources when Andrew Wiggins refused to sign with clutch sports Andrew Wiggins from Canada, LeBron and some of the folks from sports, we're at a at a club in Toronto on the air. And they found out the Wiggins was was coming over. And they made them lock them out bar him from the club because he hadn't signed sports before. He then obviously force him to be traded. That's what I've heard. That's it's more than a rumor. I mean, it's people who don't now I can go on and on so pettiness there, but also LeBron takes all the oxygen out of the room. When you rejoin sometimes where is me telling the story about getting hit by by a waterfall bottle in the head and ha-has LeBron with the water bottle. But the reason he did it is whenever we would go interview him in those days, he wouldn't give us an answer to chill out. But it would be really put out with the questions. The only in the bother more is when we were done with him. And we move onto twain wasn't center of attention. So it'd be yelling and screaming and turn. His music, and we just wanted to them out because you know, you have to interview the other guys three start throwing stuff in our direction. It was all about his need for attention. All of those things are falling. If you win basketball games bright people put up with it. It's like the crazy actor who wins Academy Awards gives you a chance at the same who screams at you and stays in character, and is a horrible person. But you get to get an Academy Award the moment that person starts doing duds the moment that person starts putting out Geely, you're probably going to avoid them. And that's what the Lakers are to their the film Geely. And I know that is it's not good eight five five two one two four CBS the phone number Joseph in Milwaukee up. Somebody big big day in Milwaukee. Wisconsin you're on on CBS sports radio. Writer right now. Yeah, I'm down to the Pfizer form right now. I just think may coast blood really so what he's all about that. He got us this far he got his far. So you know to me he needs to win this Eastern Conference finals man, and I'm happy with that. Even if we don't win at all. I think you're getting done. I think buds if you guys over Nick nurse first time that position. Think about this right now. And thank you. Thank you for the call gentlemen, like that are going down to the arena, Milwaukee that whole city is ready. For the possibility of finals basketball Eastern Conference finals game one tonight. "Now luck is not part of a game plan for building a winning Francis. If you get locked embracing, but you can't rely on luck to build the team. So what do you do going forward? John Paxson the decade VP. Chicago Bulls joins us now packs could more. I know I spoke for a lot of bowls fans if suck that you didn't get Zion Williamson. But now you've got to figure out what you do at seven. How long did it knocked the wind out of you? When you saw what you were picking. I'll you what you know that whole scene. There is just I mean, it's it's surreal the NBA puts on a show. And so there's a lot of anxiety in that room. So, you know, I mean once LA hopped up, and you know, that's when I started have the bad feeling about it. But, you know, you're always disappointed because I Jordan you said I mean, there's every person that's to lead with a team that was in that lottery last night walked in that room with hope you maybe this is your day. Well, only one team in a walk out of there with with the topic. And you know, the league I think God exactly what they wanted in terms of how they redistributed the the odds, you know, this year for the first time, and you know, their intentions or are bigger than than just what happened last night. It's to try to even the playing field during the regular season with teams, and you know, so that you play you compete, so. I think they got I think the league has to be ecstatic with how it played out, but we were disappointed for you know, you're disappointed for a few minutes. But you know, within the day, you you gotta move forward. And that's what we did. We're gonna do we got a lot of work ahead of us. And you know, I think we've done a pretty good job of finding value at seven it's not, you know, we still need those guys felt that we haven't lost that we picked last year's in Lowery Wendell, but there's always value when the graph. If you down to your work. And so I I'm confident we'll get another good player. You know, before he wants me on I talked about that luck being a part of it. I know game plan is going to work if you rely on luck. But in a way, the bulls are kind of in that position as one of those teams that is without these superstar. Yes, there's some very talented players on his team, and the nucleus is strong. But in the belief that the real contenders are behind a megastar are that traffic that they discovered who's fantastic gets them there as you look at now life after there's gonna be no Zion. There's going to be no job Mirant. Let something remarkable happens. How do you? Then refocus the game plan. What becomes the charges rebuild continues on? And it's next face. Well, it's to become as as goodness competitively can. And it starts with our internal growth. We, you know, we we sit here, and we have to remember that you know, to our key guys in lowering one dollars still really young players in their development. And so then becoming. Better players is imperative to us becoming a better team. Zach LeVine is still young kid. You know, twenty four years old. He he can get better guy that average twenty three game and there's so much room for improvement. And we talked about that areas beacon crew improved. So I mean, he's he's still he's still year or two probably from his prime, but he can get better. So an auto who we we traded for the the key is internal development, first and foremost, but I also believe we're, you know, we're going to get a pick in this draft that that we like a player in this draft that we like we do have some some money to spend in free agency. We know we have to address certain areas that that we have to get better at and one of the things that if I products last night getting seven is that we we did, you know, we're slow at number four. So we've been planning on that salary slot for, you know, our planning purposes, you know, go moving back to seven gives us some some extra money in free agency. Because of that salaries lot. So we have some, you know, we're we're going to work, we're diving, and we we've been we've already met on, you know, we've had all last week on free agency issues, you know, how we want to attack this. And you know, we're already deep in the grass. So we got a lot of work. But a lot of this is going to be our internal growth, and and then addressing areas of concern that we know we need to get better at John is. I look at the situation over there. Correct me if I'm wrong for me, the most imp-, obviously, your players are most important after your players the most important guy for me is Sean respite and the player development team. And I told you this spoken before I thought you guys had a poorer job at player development over the years. And now, it's incumbent on Sean and his part of the staff to make sure that Lowery marketing is the guy that he can become I know he's young. He's still a little immature. He's twenty one years old. He's got to be better Wendell Carter's got to be better. You guys got to be healthy. And then whether you pick whoever it is at seven or you're able to use that in a deal to get a veteran player back. It all starts internal for me. Yeah. I think I brought that up. First of all, I it's, you know, China's our player development coach, but everything in terms of that area comes from the head coach, and Jim has a a belief in terms of how he wants to develop players in his position now. And you know, one of the things that we were trying to do, you know, when we when we when we made the higher with Jim. Know, we the the biggest thing for us was looking at a staff to compliment him. And we've already made one edition that guy named Chris Fleming. Who's been in Brooklyn was in Denver before that we think he is a key higher to exactly what you're talking about. He's been in Brooklyn the last three years we've seen how Brooklyn has gone about getting better developing their young talent, we think he'll be a very important piece in this whole thing. So it's all tied together. It's just it's not just, you know, Sean, respite in his player development area the direction in terms of development has to come from the top. Jim has a very good handle on what he wants. How he expects guys developed his relationships with guys is key. And he works at that every single day. So I'm to your point cap. I'm confident we're going to to do a very good job in that. And you know, so a lot of is up to staff a lot. It's up to the player to you know, we we we have to you know, you have to have accountability as an individual. You know that that you're gonna put in all the work. You can do whatever you have to do to to be the player that we think you can be. So it all works in tandem. I if you look at your salary cap situation, you're going to have some ability to go out, and maybe you're not getting the number one free agent. Maybe Leonard or guy like that isn't implant, I get it. I understand where you're franchise is at would you be willing to use the stretch provision to be able to move a contract off the books to give you more space. So you could say all right. We went and got a big, man. Who's a veteran who can be good in our room? We got so many of you definitely need to get better perimeter shooting. And we're able to bring a point guard in that changes your franchise almost immediately. Well, we know we have to upgrade in areas. I think you know, last year with all the injuries that we have in our death was challenged. And we ended up bringing some guys, you know, from you know, the G league. And you know, we we you know, we had patched together a roster and your when we had guys down. So you know, we know we need to do that. You know, we we feel right now, you know, at the two through five spots, we have starter caliber players, and, you know, hopefully, they turn into you know, NBA, you know, all week some of them turned into that type of player as as we move forward. We've not given up on Chris done as a player, but we have challenged him. I make no bones about it told him before he left town after the year that you know, he he's not in a durable player for us. He hasn't played, you know, the number of games that that you know, we need and we need play at that position. It's such a vital position in this game that you need great play from there. So, you know. We challenged him. I think he you know, he's at that point his career where he's got. He's got to be thinking about his future in contract. I expect him to to put in his work and come back aggressive and hungry. I I do expect there to be competition at that position. You know as we head into training camp with which will be very good for our team. But we, you know, right now, as we stand, you know, we we want to add some some veterans to our roster that that can help our young team win games. And what I would like to see as much as anything is us get back to that competitive ability where every night you walk into a game. And your guys are putting it all out there on the floor. Your fan base can be excited about that. They're watching playing in their building. And our guys are are finally having some continuity in terms of who they are as group that that's the thing that has probably been the most disappointing thing for the over the last two years. Is just the lack of continuity anytime. We feel like we're, you know, we're seeing something that you know, we can shape and and and mold and get better with something seems to happen in that injury. And then we're we're, you know, we're trying to plug holes with some some some younger guys that that aren't ready to play. So I do think we have an opportunity to to to change things. And and and get that. Right. And that's that's our whole. We're going to work really hard to get their packs. You looked to three four five you feel pretty good about where you are those positions. And you just alluded to and mention Chris done in the fact that he's simply not where he needs to be as a professional basketball player right now that being said with this draft coming up being slotted at number seventy think best available or do you try to directly address that need a point guard? Because quite frankly, Chris Dodd has not appeared to be that guy right now. We we've talked about we've got to keep all options open. You know, whether it's personal you always look for, you know, talent. And if there was a guy there that you said, hey can't pass on him. You would never pass on you know. But when you, you know, as we go through things, we generally tier groups of players that during the college season, then when the season ends, and we get together, we tear guys. And so we have a grouping of players that that we feel would be in the mix. Now, sometimes, you know, again, given our situation right now, I think you have to sometimes look at maybe need takes priority over, you know, something else, but that's not set in stone right now, we still got a lot of work that we're just now getting the process of finally getting to, you know, bring the kids in meet them, test them gets know everything about them. And and that plays a part in it all too. So now, we're now we're now we know where we're slow the process starts for us. We'll get a lot of the you know, there's because there's so much. No, there's probably a lot of people who think differently maybe from four to to ten or twelve we're going to get a lot of kids in. We'll get to know him. And you know, we'll see where we go from there. But I do think that sometimes you. If you just have to keep an open mind, sometimes need does have a priority over anything else. "Take it from here. You take it from here, man. There's there. Tell me. A lot there. Well, it sounds like they're they're come totally committed to Jim Boylan. I think that that is the biggest takeaway from packages conversation at this point anything they ask about their growth if they do ask about Eric. I was texting some of the guys they're like ask about rose already. So we can move on. We'll play the answer for you. But that's the takeaway the takeaway as if you thought that there was a chance they would open up a coaching search or if you thought he was only being paid a little amount. So next year during the year, they could move on from him. It's I've got her John Paxson gush about a coach the way he gushed about Jim Boylan. They've got their guy. They've got their gun. He said Jim Boylan it Phil Jackson in the same sentence. All the great ones. What did he say the wrong with them? All right guys around all the great ones. Do Phil Jackson. And this this is just not gonna get mad. I was gonna say we're just we're just gonna get we're gonna get the hamster wheel again. And I'm not so no my point is this is all a conversation. Let's see what happens in the draft where they draft who they add. That's that's what will have the greatest impact on this team on Zion. Then you right. And then you can you take over as coach and I'll still be excited, but if they draft seventh and they get a guy who's another developmental guy. Then would your what I've been saying that you're just you're building up another try hard team. If you want to weigh in on what you just heard three one two three two three seven seven six. And does it make sense that the bulls could re-sign Derrick rose is that something you want to see or do you say to yourself? This ain't a movie this. This isn't a Disney movie. This is also a team that doesn't have a ton of they've got some cap flexibility, but not a ton of cat flexibility. So we'll get into that three three two three seven seven six and wattle is wild by Tiger Woods. So far who can't be? I am. Of course, you are. "The way. I if the playoffs started today, they really they square off with the Sixers in the first round first round series. Funny average class should be. I don't wanna see the Celtics and the Sixers in the first round, though, I know is it Indiana. That's throwing it tell third seed, but they're only a half game ahead of the Sixers at this point. And you have to think without all the depot that they're gonna they'll come back to the pack. I came in positive about some some of the things I saw this weekend from the bulls Lowry marketing continues to be really good and Zach Levine's getting better. I think the only one that we're just completely down on his Chris done. I think I think we both know that Chris done isn't the solution. Any of the bulls? I was really excited about his potential. He's long he's athletic. He plays good defense. But I mean there was about a month ago or whenever it was. I just kind of watching play and it was like. You know, he needs to be more of a facilitator unless I gotta get my own. You know what I mean? Because he can't he doesn't do a great job getting his own, right? You you always hate when guy wants to shoot. And he's not a good shooter right shooter. Really good defensive player of you would work on being a facilitator, we may have something here because you want to try and get your own as well. No. Yeah. Especially when you've got Levin and porter marketing, right? I don't need done getting his with his inability to get his when he wants you know, what I'm so totally and I was tweeting with see red Fred over the weekend. I said I go Fred Don in trae young are the polar opposite players. It's funny because they were both lottery point guards drafted fifth overall not far apart. Trae young is slight and skinny Chris. He's big and strong. He's got an MBA built trae young doesn't play any defense. Chris done takes a lot of pride in being a good defensive point guard. That's where the strains for done go away Christiaan can't shoot and he doesn't make his teammates better. Trae young can chew and he makes everybody on the court better. And you're just seeing the huge differences in their game. And I believe like all this talk about Lowery market in and. Whether Robin Lopez makes them better as soon as they do find a real point guard one that will make the offense go they will get the ball in Lowery marketings hands where he will be able to get the shots easier right instead of having to create his his own show. I'd be interested to see whether or not Chris done could morph into somebody who's not interested in getting his own and be better as a facilitator as opposed to trying to be a score off the bench who could defend and you could bring in and play twenty twenty five minutes. Yeah. Yes. Exactly. But he's not going to be. He he doesn't shoot it. Well enough from behind the arc shooting thirty five percent. But he he doesn't finish the way the Jack thing finishes. So who is he what is he doing, you know, he just made multiple threes and back to back games for the first time in his career? He's a point guard in this NBA and he's hit right three. Erickson for audio man before we get to the phones. And if you wanna weigh in up three three two three seven seven six so he did the poll question, which best describes how you currently feel about the bulls rebuild because some people are starting to sweat it. They're seeing some optimistic things. But then the Michael Reinsdorf interview comes out, and it makes me what are the three options. I gave you angst optimism or don't care. Abdullah voted angst. I voted optimism where do you? I know. Right in the middle. Yeah. You too much. I care too much. I would have to be then more towards Ang's than optimism. The building has always been that. My my mantra my question. Pull it after this Article K by say. How much how much did you vote? Was it swayed me, my whole temperament has been changed by this article. And we have an again, I we have a request in. We've had it in for a few weeks to talk to Michael I've I've met and talked to Michael Reinsdorf about a handful of times he in person is a super guy. They just wrote an article on the F Lennox saw that about a fan who is displeased and Michel invited him to the game again this. But again, this isn't about guys being guys. I've I have a great respect for John Paxson. He's been very very good my family. But again, we're talking in the sports contacts, and I wish Michael would pop on. And when he says the quote in this will John Paxson gar form and be back next season, and he answers. Absolutely. We believe they've done a great job. I know that in this market with some of our fans in some in the media. They look at it differently that perplex. X's me. I would like to explain some of that to Michael Ryan store in person or on the radio. Let's talk, and then this is back to the interview. Let's talk about them individually. Because there's that's another thing. I don't understand why they're referred to as car packs when they have different job responsibilities, and the reason why people confuse them as no one knows what their duties are one minute cars in the background the next minute. He's running the team the next minute. He's in hiding again. One minute packs is running the franchise the next minute. He doesn't wanna talk and supposedly Hoiberg just hired because of gar and then now Packers re sort of asserted himself, and that would be less of an issue if they were winning consistently and the plan seemed consistent and the the plane was going in the right direction. You really wouldn't care as much about who ultimately is sitting in the pilot's chair. And who's sitting in the co pilots chair? Right. I tell you all the time the jet in THEO are two different guys both speak. But there you always know where the buck stops the buck stops on Theo's desk. Theo you blame for chat would feel you blame for. Hey, I don't think we've ever said about jed jed what a horrible free agent decision. It all comes down McLeod is at a huge role in drafting. But it's the buck stops with the and and listen jet may have had the loudest voice in the room speculating about Darvish in THEO said. Yeah, you know, what let's do this. Ultimately, though, THEO is the one that will receive the praise when the the decision is successful and he'll receive the criticism when the decision is not success. Right. So I would say that to Michael, Michael. This is the reason you guys have created this narrative, then no one knows who's responsible for what? So that's I'm you guys number two in the. The first paragraph when you raves about why John has done a good job, John Paxson. And again, it is not all bad. There's lots of good in his you've been the GM slash VP for sixteen seventeen years. This is what Michael says John is our vice president of basketball operations he took over in two thousand three and orchestrated. Our I rebelled he inherited a team and made a lot of different trades. He drafted Kirk Hinrich. Let's start there. In John paxton's first draft. Kirk Hinrich was a nice player for the balls. And as I've told you John Paxson is built nice teams. Forty eight win teams. Kirk Hinrich is a forty eight win player. The bulls were presented with a trade where they could trade up and get Dwayne Wade John Paxson loved Dwayne Wade what he did for Marquette in that final four. Remember, he took them to the final four John Paxson wanted. Dwayne Wade here dented that being the guy. There was a path for the bulls to go up and get Toronto's pick Toronto wanna Donyell Marshall. John Paxson said you can't have dial Marshall he's too important for a rebuilt. Donyell Marshall never did a thing. Again. The bulls got captain Kirk and Wayne Wade became an NBA finals MVP and a first ballot hall of Famer that's one. Okay. So that's one in the first paragraph where you raves about your vice president I could pull a flaw with his very first move. He goes on we spent three million dollars in a trade with Phoenix. So we could draft Ben Gordon and wall dang in the same draft. He ended joke Kim Noah we signed a top free agent and Ben walls in two thousand six let's stop there. I would explain to Michael Reinsdorf. Why have I turned on this front office because they've created a bad culture year in year out? No matter who the players are every year, the players in coaches and front office are always fighting. The bulls went out, and they signed Ben Wallace whose trademark was the big headband can't shoot doesn't score. But also where the head had been popular player because he's. Changing the landscape type defensive guy. Great rebound rate rebounder. And he's known for the headband. The bowls of a rule where they don't allow headbands to be worn in the first month that you signed Ben Wallace you've benched him in Madison Square Garden, I was at the game because he refused to take off his headband. These are the silly fights. The John Paxson Ingar foreman. Have continued to go at year-in-year-out. Whether it's fighting with your new free agent acquisition in Ben walls with his headband. Whether it's fighting with Vinny and grabbing his tie. Whether it's finding Tom Theban in fighting with him, whether it's then not having a coaching search and hiring Fred Hoiberg because he's boys with gar Forman. And then by the end of his run gar, and Fred aren't talking when Michael Reinsdorf says, I don't know where this is coming from. I can give you tangible evidence not in one year, not cherrypicking, but throughout the history of this front office as why they continue to create drama. So that's why my temperament changes when the CEO and president comes out with this interview. And in his first paragraph. You could pick out the the vital flaws and why they can't build a championship. He thinks he read Fred fields. Fred, you're on ESPN one thousand. What's up? How oh guys. I love you. But I'm already angry with your tirade there. I'd like to point out bilby. Drafted Kirk Hinrich of Jay Williams. Didn't almost lose his way a week before the draft if easy to say he should have got outweighed we've launched our starting point guard who a motorcycle accident. That he wanted. Wade. They had a data trade on the table. And he couldn't Donyell Marshall too good for the culture. They couldn't part with them. Wade Williams didn't get hurt. That's my point. It's so easy to look back. If they why did he do it. We point guard any say well now, we have we have another asset that just out the window. And that's what happened. I mean, you gotta look at the whole situation. So graphic Kirk Hinrich because Jay Williams got her any passed on Dwayne later. I bowed all Famer, and you're defending that I'm not I'm not defending it. I'm just saying it's a little bit more complicated. You look at the situation when Williams hurt his way that's really caused that to happen. Very agree with you. I'm not a Heinrich's fan. But a lot of people are co you know, regardless it's move onto the the partying leviathan. Let's talk about that. I wanna point out something Sylvia about the path. I'm to defend the beer. Hey, every single move. Since this rebuilding has begun for the most part has been met with irritation to outrage. All right. Let's look at it Butler trade. Outrage the marketing pick over Dennis Smith, junior general outrage anger Wendell junior people wanted to trade off again mogambo being restricted free. Agency matched. You remember? All anger and outrage this past summer for that. How 'bout junior trade the holiday treats almost every move this guy?.

"And sports radio and media. We got we got John Paxson, which is great and the listeners love it can do it. Maybe he should. No, no can't do it. You know? But here's a random forty seconds or so packs. Earlier this week. Karen? Your. Parts off your sim simply asking me about duty free agents, the players in general, do they wanna come to Chicago. Why it's been so hard to land that one big one. I guess well, I, you know, we we we haven't been fortunate enough. And you know, I mean, we go back in the day. We were right in the game when LeBron was free and went to Miami at that time. All the feedback. We got from from his reps and him and LeBron himself was that, you know, we represent our organization very very well. But you know, we didn't we didn't. We didn't get the guys that at the time. So I guess that's where you know. People can feel that way. All I can tell you is the hope is that we're we're building through the draft right now, we're going to be strategic in terms of the things we do like we did the other day in and getting auto, and you hope that we do become a destination point sometimes at sometime, it's obviously not happening today. And that's whatever everybody wants we want it. Now all people do, but we have to especially me in my role. I have to to remain looking at the big picture and the time line that goes out and make sure that we don't make the long-term mistakes that hurt us a much more than than any mistake. Would Jan packs yesterday John president operations, I guess is title is. We all know who he is around with common in your little misled that was on.

"Wouldn't have picked it up. Anyway. Speaking of the program director, Fred. And he's now in town any bar drew Hayes was to two radios. And here's to say once or twice he said, you know, anytime I make a decision. We're going to do this or make a change or a promotion, or, you know, meaning advertising promotion, or whatever he says, I always look at it. I what are the downsides? Okay. What what could the problems? What can go wrong and then number two? Eliminate all that. Okay. What can go good right now? Most people would use, you know. Look at the other way hers an idea on this'll be great. I always I'm with him. I was the downside. I doubt if you look at the downside prepared for it. And then if it doesn't happen where if you're excited about it, and it screws up, Dan, you're depressed. Okay. And my wife has been telling me for decades. She goes that's way. Thank you. I'm always prepared for the bad news. You learn that from drew. No, I might have taught him. I don't know. I've always been that way. Well, here's why I bring that up. John Paxson so say, for example at the White Sox. I'm Manny Machado. I'll be happy the downside there if they don't get them. But you, and I look at the downside and say, well, yeah. They don't get them that just keep going with the rebuilt. Oh, great. No downside. All right. So John Paxson as thinking about this. Now,.

"You seen my blue heaven. So you guys would be like swingers, right? Yeah. Probably still swingers. But yeah, you're right. It's a it's a bit dated someone who's a millennial. I think someone like. Yeah. One of the others. Can you feel that awkwardness set in over the crowd? The movie and put Diddy. Made. Swingers? She likes you. I'd say that a lot of chasing atom of Chris flexing in for David Caplan today. Let's talk some MBA in Chicago Bulls. Vincent goodwill. He used to cover the covers the NBA for Yahoo. Sports following at Vincent goodwill. Vincent. It's Chris Adam. And Jason what's going on, man? Hey, gentlemen. The light we show you guys you guys. Get the Bruce Springsteen conversation a bunch of filler, really offended. Hey, good. Goodwill. Don't do that. Now. This is this is this is first date face. I got on with the. Komo now, let's make fun of them off the air. Now. Let's not let's not do that right here. How you doing? I'm sorry. Jason you're supposed to. Yeah. I was I was shaking hands kissing babies. No, not knocking stuff over. And all of a sudden, we started talking about the balls and I got angry. Based on what you heard Inci yesterday from the Chicago Bulls is anything that he said surprise you based on covering this team. The last couple of years. Not at all. I mean, and I don't say this in a way that is insulting about John Paxson center. But when you're in the league, and you have a job after all these years, and you're constantly. So like, you're under fire. You know, social media would the media coverage or whatever it may be that you're going to be combative. You're going to defend yourself. You're going to use data logic that anybody would use like I can go I go to DC and see Ernie Grunfeld the team that ironically, divorced traded with you know, and he's been he's accomplished far less passionate. And he's nowhere new losing this job. So I think anytime you're in that position. I will say you will take that town. I will also say get into days NBA, the thought of a long and painful, you build a lot harder. When you see the Brooklyn metro team that's had no draft picks for a number of years figure it out. When you see the New York Knicks basically put themselves in position to acquire a superstar or two or three because even though they've had James Dolan as an owner. They stick it out a way to be competent soldier sale or the start of this has to be three four five year process. It's going to fall on deaf ears to a large segment of fans because they see what's happening. I don't wanna say the move set them back. But how far back did the move and acquiring a high priced Otto porter set them back from one of the other key free agents in a couple of years. Set them back as as much as it was if nothing else they had to take a good long hard look in the mirror and say are we going to be in the running for Tobias Harris, all you're going to be in the running for Chris not where are you talking about the k D's in the top level? We're talking about the friends all starts the guys who are a number two or number three on very good teams. That would have to be cast as a number one on your team. And they're probably saying, you know, we can't get those guys. So I will say it takes a certain amount of election and honestly to do that. But you also have on the other side of that have to understand why we say if I if almost Chicago executive why can't we in the third largest media market in America and a great city in Chicago with all franchise fifty. Why can't we attacked a free agent of that caliber you have money and those where the difficult answers com. Nothing acknowledgement it's about digging deeper and trying to figure out. Why state of affairs are such how far are we from realizing that John Paxson gar Forman can't possibly be the architects of a championship franchise. Like is this something that that they could stumble into or giving these many spins at the wheel that they have had that they can do on the fourth or fifth trial. Or is this a faded complete? All we're doing is just waiting for Michael riser from Jerry Reinsdorf to to give the the the the the jump shot Janis of the world the the the pass or fail and move onto the next one. Well, there's there's two things was with that day. And one of them is. I wanna say you can't quibble. But I like when Dale Carter junior as prostate can't quibble with that draft. Pick can quibble with full large parts of return. They got on Jimmy Butler. Now, you can quibble with the narratives and everything else. But okay, fine back being productive player. Right blind, marketing and productive players. Chris done question. Can't really figure him out. Maybe just miscast as a starting point guard would not a course. Right. You can't quibble with individual, boo. The problem is you don't know if they are aware or know how to process team building. It's less about the individual selection of players or more about building day cohesive unit. When you're judging chemistry, and you're judging personality, you're judging different things that are completely independent of selecting one player. Good selecting next player could because the traffic will tell them tell them if they are at the second pick or therapeutic that they'll pick the right? Player because they picked by player to pass two or three years. But unless you get Katie Westbrook, and harden, you're not winning like that you're not winning which gives them that way. You have to win infrastructure. You have to win direction stuff to win with coaching. When you're at this stage of development, and can you say that jump the right guy? Worth of game is going to be played for the way that players have to connected with in the future. Can you say that he's the guy? Can you say that this one office knows in his fourth thinking and the way that the game is moving the game has moved in so many different directions post two thousand fifteen and that was just four years ago. Can you say that they know where the league is going and get ahead of the curve as opposed to the plan behind it. Those are the questions that you have to ask yourself, and if you're going to say taxing and garlic on all right, cool. Do we know that they're going to like dinner fi MP able to select the right next person to run the franchise. Those are questions are just beyond gone past. Sometimes you can be sold laser focused on the micro that sometimes miss the back on the big picture of it. I I don't know if the bulls half, the internal foresight to be able to identify the properties, maybe they'll have to go to the week if he ever comes down to that. And that's how you get your. Action. But I'm more concerned about the bigger picture than just hold these guys a terrible playoff series wins. Which is really remarkable when you think about that you have five playoff series wins and nearly twenty years at this. That's goodwill. I'm Chris black with Amdahl and Jason golfing in for cap today here on ESPN one thousand so Vincent when they traded Jimmy Butler, and they got back to young players this rebuild. Again was starting the front office talked a lot about having cap space for the future. And then being able to really spend when other teams in the league wouldn't be able to spend at what point did that plan change for the Chicago Bulls because from what they said yesterday in the way, they're acting and now saying that they're not gonna be players in free agency that had to have changed at some point. When did that change? Well, here's the thing. Like as much as everybody thinks that they're smarter than everybody else. Other people in the league realize that half a league is going to be free agents this summer too. So they're gonna have to give their houses in order like it's not hard to see the landscape of the league changing and some of those old contracts from starting to finally face cell phone on a suicide signing sort of contracts to begin with with major cycles through free agency, a whole lot quicker than it used to be you know, in the late nineties early two thousand when the person maximum contracts, I came in Dhaka size six and seven year cat crippling deals. The longest you can assign four or five years. So that means you're gonna go through this. You're gonna cycle a lot quicker, which means you have to get your house in order quicker, which also means that you have to pay for more external competition from other teams around the league compared to just one or two teams having Catholics as the case. Maybe up started the decade who's to get back guy. You know, we we we heard a lot about some McVay in his get bad guy on the coaching staff. The LA Rams who's the guy who can who can pull John Paxson back in that franchise 'cause it's the way relationship between he and gar Forman in terms of who wants to be the front man who's going to be the face of the franchise going back and forth who's going to speak to the media. John doesn't enjoy speaking to the media as much who's the guy who can tell John, you know, what I think you're all on this. The the convergence of ideas who can I don't wanna say veto, but who can change his mind in that organization. If anybody I don't know if there is anybody, and I'll I'll say, this about pack tax can run hot. At times. Right. You can you hear him sometimes when he gets challenged and everything else, you know, press conference settings radio, interviews, whatever. But usually he finds a way to step himself. Chief doesn't usually make decisions in that hot way. No. There's examples and previous instances of that hotheadedness. But I think he's calmed down in the way that he doesn't those feelings don't funding to get along. Like, I remember him being upset with me, you know, in a moment. And usually something where if I have that interaction with general manager and executive at another stock or around the league, I won't talk to that guy for six months by with tax, and you can talk to him the next day. And it's like nothing has happened. So I do think that he has a level of perspective that sort of live. What you see the problem sometimes comes with the appearance of it? You know, like it's the public whereas the public level of trust. You know, if you feel like, you know, the head of your organization can be rankled. In that way. Even if that's not necessarily the case the appearance of it. The perception of its, you know, we've learned a lot of this stuff is not necessarily about the truth as much as it is about the packaging as much as it is about the perception. And I think sometimes we all have to be careful with that. And even tax to be careful with that. Because this is the face open organizations. These are things that player in the corner sheet around the league. So if you're trying to sell yourself, you have to present yourself in a different type of light considering all the factors that may work against Chicago in another piece of news that came out yesterday is that they basically doubled down and saying that jimbohannon would be back as coach next year. Now that doesn't mean it has to happen. But they said yesterday that he is the coach next season for the foreseeable future. What's the perception of JIMBO around the league? And how can that affect which free agents would decide to come here? Even if they are veteran guys that they can piece in point guards, whatever. I mean, I think it's less about the perception of jump into what Jim playland says to create the reality. Like, some of the things that he says, you know, if a player doesn't wanna come here and work in this type of environment than this type of player that we want you could say that in the sixties and seventies. What have you guys seen like the way that the league works not aware? Anthony Davis, Brian James, and all these other guys are consoling there in the middle of the season when they have left on their contract. What do you think about doing their free agents, and they really have to have our? So I will say that the perception of Jim is probably exactly what you think it is. And what does that mean being from a fine for the past couple of years, and sort of feeling like he was going to be this type of guy when he got this opportunity, and Jason golf, we'll take off always felt point to get this opportunity here this season and the rather early this is played off from soup. And that's exactly how I expected it to confront spider. In early December, everything that's basically happened since as far as like, the coin co culture, change and everything else. Like, he's the guy I suppose what based off this perception that, you know, these young guys need discipline, and they need structure and all other type of stuff. What all of those things are just blows worse than they sound good. But isn't sensibly that you outweighed the this isn't the league that you're going to win. And because you're trying to do things your way into the beltway, that's one wink when you look at the trade deadline, who do you think made the best move to improve their club. I think Philadelphia really came up Philly. Milwaukee lose came up. I I'm a big fan of even though Jimmy Butler Jimmy has his ward bringing into bias Harris, a guy, okay? Twenty but can do it with a less of your volume shot like he immediately becomes a different type of school with that can take a level of pressure off. And then you add in walks at a guy like you. Call the pitch playing with John or what it's going to be a lot of driving kicking swing. Swing any solid, and you're not going to need Nico to be called the mirror March Nico every night, you're going to need him to be your fourth or fifth failure which what he should be anyway, like Milwaukee as really ton thinking, I thought they were at the final thought they had to go through some real pain and heartbreak before they were able to take the next step because Giannis can't show. But now they may have negated all of that by bringing in the Nicola mirror teaches in having Chris Middleton..

"Make things happen because no one of their own volition be willing to choose to go to. Yeah. And the bulls acknowledged that today I wanna play John Paxson from that semantic Machado thoughts to from Bob Nightingale. But this I wanted to get to this earlier. This is packs a today the press conference that took place at two o'clock. So be on our podcast talking about how now the team is realistic about what they could succeed at in free agency going before the trade we were looking at having some cap spaces here about forty million this this cut that in half. We are realistic in terms of what the free agent market is not going to be. We're not in the position as of today to be in the position to go. After the the big names, the franchise changes or just not we're looking at things realistically, we also looked ahead to next this summer and even the summer beyond looked at available wings and versatile players and. The list is what it is no guarantees of getting players like that. We thought that this was a perfect opportunity to get a player. Like Otto is he a lot of money. Of course, a lot of players are making money. And it does take some of that cap space. But we we also felt that we try to resign. Bobby this past off season. We we made an offer he turned down which is his right. As we evaluate our team. We looked at having Larry Martin is starting four Wendell Carter for starting five for many years to invest a lot of money right.
