"Winner is as to the front really goods going to run late, but and the winner is. Indeed, has won the castle and key bourbon for flavian Pratt one minute, 41.27 seconds, a stakes record. Welcome back to the equine forum, presented by twin spires on this Halloween weekend, Mike penna baron in the backstretch, getting ready for the breeders cup world championships less than one week away now and Kurt Becker with the call of the bourbon and the winner is a freakishly similar type of runner to his tremendous sire Oscar performance who stands at mill ridge and I'm joined now by mill ridge general manager price bell to take a look back on that race and talk about the success that ask a performance has had. Now a top ten freshman sire. Price, good morning, my friend. Good morning, Mike. Do you want to replay that replay again? Can we do that one more time? I could listen to it. I could surely listen to it again. As I open the show, I talked about Halloween and trick or treat and I said, you know, I have plenty of treats coming up on this show over the next few hours. But I think the rest of the field when they looked at in the winter is and watched him run by, they probably thought it was more of a trick than a treat, but definitely a treat for you guys. And not only that, dear district, the son of Oscar performance up for a second. Oh, it was awesome. I mean, the Dale's credit Dale was on this show touting him back in the summertime. Yep, right? It was unbelievable. And I saw Dale at the phasic kitchen for sale and he said that they're targeting a race at Churchill downs, which is really exciting. I mean, he's still loves the horse. He said he's just an unbelievable horse. So I'll tell you, it is a pretty special enjoying and savoring every moment. Yeah, yeah, okay, so put me there with you. When and the winner is comes down the stretch at keenland of all places, right? Here in the heart of the bluegrass, the heart of horse country. And wins the bourbon. Dear district is second, and you're sitting there watching these two runners that are offspring of your freshman sire Oscar performance. What is that like from the breeders perspective? Well, it was, I mean, it was really truly beyond beyond words. We were we had some family who we actually met. We didn't know each other existed until my great grandfather was put in the our mutual great grandfather, how price he was put in the Hall of Fame. And so we meet these folks at cousins from Virginia. Who won was Ted titinius, who loves horses grew up in middleburg, grew up with horses, et cetera. So we've become close with the strategies family and who we share again, how pricey. We didn't know each other existed. Well, Ted fast forward is celebrating at 60th birthday. In Lexington that day on that Sunday. So he has a bunch of his friends who don't love horses, but don't know horses and we're all watching it together. And I mean, it was unbelievable because they'd all bet because Nadal bet the exact I hadn't bet anything. They didn't know any better than Tibet the exact and it was just, I mean, it was unbelievable. And to Susan Moulton and Debbie, who raised in the winter is and race in the winter is in catalano, who has been so high on the horse. I mean, it was just, I don't know, it's just unbelievable. How about that? Yeah, it's a fantastic story. And those are not the only breeders cup runners. Dear district not going to go. They're going to bypass the breeders cup and await other fish down the road, if you will. But and the winner is is going to chase is also going in that juvenile turf, and then you have G Lori, who is set to go as well. So let's take them one by one. We talked about in the winter is. How about la chase? You know, I mean, he is, he is so tough. I mean, I thought the way his owned and bred by Larry gochman, who was a shareholder in Oscar performance, has always been a big believer. He runs a phenomenal New York bread program with Indian creek they do. I mean, they just raise really good horses. And thanks to the shareholders of us reports have given him this chance, right? It takes everyone to believe and to support and for me, with chase, he won right before the Saratoga sale in New York on that stage, which was a huge lift for Oscar performances, commercial support from there into the fall sales. And then he runs a great third in the pilgrim, which was a tough race to kind of handicap. I mean, interfering is already so difficult because of trip and this and that. And I think what Chase has a big shot. You know, I think he's a very tough horse, which is, I guess, a trait that many of the Oscar performance offspring are exhibiting. They like, they seem to like to run. They put themselves in races and they seem to run on. And then after that, it's up to the racing gods and their ability. So I think what chase, depending on the draw, has a big shot. I think and the winner is has a big shot. I saw him work yesterday and catalano is very high on him. And the rider who was walked off the track with him is very high on him. So I haven't seen lace. I'm not sure when he ships into town. But very hopeful, you know? Now it's wait and see, right? Yeah. Yeah, and then you have G Lori in the juvenile turf, a daughter of Oscar performance. Another runner, look, these Oscar performances, man. They've just come out running. And here's another one in G Lori. It really happened. So Jonathan Thomas and Sal, cumin and John panic it bought G Lori from our consignment. Our first consignment at Saratoga selling Oscar performances. And gave her to Graham and she was bred by the ramses and raised by Mark cartridge and team. And gave her to Graham and she's steadily progressed steadily progressed in her so funny. I mean, this is also just how intuitive top trainers are. I'd ask John panda get I said, how's that feel to y'all bought from us? And he said, I don't know, I don't know if she's showing grand much, et cetera. And then she had to work. You know, and then I didn't touch it again, right? And then she had to work and then she had another work and Graham said to John, he was like, you know, she's really coming on.

But she posted a picture of Linda Ronstadt, many riperton Helen Reddy and Olivia Newton-John, and said AJ, you have these stories about these four girls and I'm like, well, outside of Linda Ronstadt being a hot chick and the 70s and a lot of rock and rollers were after her when she hit the scene. I'm like, not really. I said, well, then I go, wait a minute. Olivia Newton-John has had a hell of a time the last 15 years or so. And I said, it'd be fun to talk about the kind of crazy shit that has happened in her life. And I mean crazy. I think it was like in 2005. Summer of 2005, Olivia and John still looking amazing. Is dating a guy named Patrick McDermott and maybe this maybe you forgot this story, but it's really intriguing. She's dating this guy's a cameraman. He's coming back for an fishing expedition, supposed to dock the boat's supposed to DACA and San Pedro, which is a Long Beach area and after an overnight fishing trip off the coast of LA. And he never gets off the boat. Olivia and John panics tells everybody about it, a search begins on the boat they find his passport. I think his keys, they found some personal items of his, but he's nowhere to be found. The coast guard looks into it and they go, look, he probably fell overboard and he's lost at sea. They searched a little bit, but you know, it was nighttime. It's like, you're not gonna find the guy. And he's pronounced missing. And it was a shattering thing and Olivia Newton-John. You can't imagine a guy wanting to get away from her. Maybe she's a crazy bitch. I don't know, but after years of mourning, the guy who was married to this other woman first, she reaches out to a living Newton John, and they become friends. This whole ordeal has gotten them close because that woman lost somebody, too. And now her and Olivia and John are very tight. And this woman apparently think she's running a memoir. I think she's running a memoir should be coming out soon. That is if she didn't stop writing it, but she had a lot to say and then suddenly comes news from Mexico that this guy has been spotted with some hot blond German chick, so he left his passport behind somehow he got a he had some kind of way to get to Mexico, jump off the boat into a small boat. I don't know what he did. But word is he's been spotted in Mexico, central Mexico, and that's where he's living a very peaceful life with some hot chick that he met. I don't know, but he just decided to split from Olivia Newton-John and not give her the low down. Could you imagine a guy doing that to you ladies

"Not to be sick. But his head is spinning. Singer startles as Beth comes running in behind The Rock too. He guesses that Abdul is sending all of them further up the hill. His eyes drift back to tour out's corpse. And then turns to Beth, blocking her line of sight. Listen to me. You're not going to look over here. You're just going to face that way and watch Tommy as he comes in. He'll be here in a second. Singer turns back to face away from turf's body. He looks over her shoulder and watches as Tommy's sprints across the open playing chased by bullets. Singers relieved when Tommy dives behind the boulder. Suddenly, a bullet hits The Rock they're hiding behind, and a cloud of dust rains down on them. When it clears, singer looks up to the sky. It's glowing a beautiful pink, but it doesn't calm him. The shooting continues all around. Every couple of minutes, singer catches the site of Tourette's body out of the corner of his eye. Each time he looks immediately away, just hours ago, singer had assured turret that everything would be fine. But now the man is dead. Suddenly, a rebel he hasn't seen before, a man with a long beard approaches them, and introduces himself as Abdullah. He shakes singer's hand and smiles. Propelled grenade explodes nearby and singer winces. But the man seems completely unfazed. Is he deaf? Abdullah reaches into his pocket and takes out something the size of a grenade and tosses it to Abdul. Singer flinches. He can't suppress his fear, but it's just an apple. Abdul and Abdullah laugh at singer's reaction. Abdul crunches into the apple as if he were having a snack while watching TV. Not like someone in the middle of a shootout. Abdullah sits down making himself comfortable against Herat's dead body. He's treating the corpse like it's a piece of furniture. He picks up Tourette's arm and lets it drop limply. For some reason, that singer can't fathom. Abdul finds this hilarious. Singer feels queasy. Abdul tosses the apple core and wipes his hands on his pants. Then he resumes shooting his AK-47. Singer listens to the bullets discharge and slowly begins to realize that death is going to be all around him. He needs to get used to it. Singer turns and forces himself to stare at turret's face. A fly is circling. The blood pooling on the ground has congealed. Hertz eyes are open and glassy. Maybe if he stares death in the face, something in him will harden, and he will be able to survive. Maybe like his hands that used to be soft, and now are calloused and hard from climbing. He can let this experience harden and protect him. He glances over at his friends, all of them wide eyed with fear and breathing fast. Singer stares at Tourette's body for an hour. He wills himself to feel nothing and eventually the sight of the body stops bothering him. Good, singer thinks. Now he can get through anything. John huddles against Beth Tommy and singer behind the boulder. Their arms and legs splayed across each other's bodies. The sun is setting, and John has no idea if their captors plan to fight through the night. An anti tank round explodes in front of The Rock and shakes the ground like an earthquake. Abdul and Sue are crouched beside them and shoot blindly over the top of The Rock at the Kyrgyz soldiers. Judging from the sound of the gunfire, John is guessing that the soldiers are getting closer. He tries to keep his head as low to the ground as possible. He doesn't want to get caught by a bullet flying over The Rock. Suddenly, John feels Abdul pulling them off the ground. He grabs the rucksacks and starts dumping out the heaviest items. John's stomach rumbles as he watches Abdul throw away all of their food except a dozen power bars and some candy. Then Abdul hands John Tourette's sleeping bag and gives Tommy a small duffle with the remaining food in it. Abdul uses his rifle to gesture towards the hills. John understands, they're about to start running again. John panics, he points to the ground they're standing on, and then points to his friends. Then he turns to Abdul and clasps his hands. Please Abdul, please leave us here. We'll only slow you down. If you leave us, you'll be able to escape. Tommy Beth and singer join in. Begging Abdul to simply abandon them. But their plea only seems to make Abdul angry. He points at the hillside again. John looks at his friends. It's no use. John and Tommy start running with Beth and singer close behind them. They dart from tree to tree. John's legs start cramping immediately. Probably dehydration. They haven't had anything to drink since the morning. They run for hours. Bursts of gunfire ring out sometimes. But John thinks it's sounding more faint. The moon waves them in an eerie silver glow. From the moon's height in the sky, John estimates that it's not quite yet midnight when they round a ridge crust and Abdul finally lets them stop to rest. A valley laced by a dark blue ribbon of a river stretches out below them. John and the rest of the Americans sit down among the boulders on the ridge. Their captor Sue and the new man Abdullah, almost immediately fall asleep. Abdul sits against another boulder, scowling. Obed brushes his teeth and then approaches John and singer. He holds open his palm in front of them. 5 pieces of hard candy. Obed takes one for himself, and gestures for John and the others to take the rest. John sucks on the candy, relishing the moisture in his mouth. He watches a singer pulls out his passport and shows it to op-ed. Singer paints the number 22 in the air and asks obit how old he is. Obed traces the number 19 in the air. Great John thanks. He's even younger than we are. We've been kidnapped by teenagers. As he dozes off, John marks the time. One day of being a hostage down..

Probably frame ups. It's true. She was convicted of perjury years. Later and they send him to jail show. Earlier that morning john had vacuum. The slop jimi hendrix. One slow there amongst others and john was just being extra careful that there is no evidence hanging around that could be used against us. In cases. Friends tip was legitimate miss. Those walls could talk. you know. in fact at the time we weren't doing any drugs we were on a micro biotic diet no drugs no caffeine. Even so we were in bed. There was a knock on the door. Someone on the other side of the door yelled something about a warrant. I looked john panicked. What should we do. We knew exactly who it was. We knew it was and we had nothing to hide but still feeling of panic came over me. John's had don't answer the door so we didn't have knocking. It got louder more voices. They were trying the door handle and suddenly there was commotion at the rear. John left out of bed and branagh back. Where you found wanna pitchers officers trying to get inside through a rear window. John was in his underwear with his hands on top of the window. Pushing it down while the officer outside was trying to pry it open at this point. I think john was beginning to panic as well. The officer at the window was yelling that he was going to break the window if he had to. It didn't matter. John was john lennon or that he was a beetle. The police didn't care. Actually it worked against us. A beatles thing being a beatles. What got john mess in the first place john knew he wasn't going to hold back a team of determined police officers so he relented. He told the man at the window to stand down. And you would go open the front door. There were seven of them detective. Sergeant detective constables. Policewoman dog handlers. And of course sergeant culture. They barged inside the flat once john. Lock the door. Kilter victor in his eyes before even stepped foot in the placed. You could just see it. Written on his face that he was about to test the john lennon the one who is bigger than jesus culture told the dog handlers to let the dogs loose. Their names were yogi and boo boo. Unlock kidding. sniffed around the flat while jonah argued with pilcher and the others. John was getting angry. He knew there was nothing illegal in the place and he kept telling pilcher. There was nothing over and over. John argued that just because he was a rowdy musician didn't mean that he was sitting on a pilot drugs. Yogi and boo boo told a different story. Allegedly they found grass and noculars case grass and film canister and more grass and a cigarette. Roller something like an ounce. Total bullshit i answer. It wasn't ours. We never proved has started. Wasn't ours or that. Kilter planted the evidence pie. Vonda funny scheduled at him with poultry character was arresting someone and saying i'm charging you with the illegal possession of whatever we can happen to have down there. Culture did have to face questions from the home secretary however who wanted to know why so many officers had been used for such a small bust. Cultures response was that he thought he'd be busting some wild sex party again. Because sean was a beetle that was what he thought of us. You couldn't imagine that a rockstar could just be enjoying lazy morning in bed with his wife. Well technically we weren't married quite yet and a few months time we would be. But that's the thing what culture couldn't imagine but he couldn't see was the same thing that the whole world couldn't see. They couldn't see john as anything but a beautiful. They couldn't see him without his myth. John began to extract himself from that myth. His fans in england got confused and angry and looked for someone to blame for their anger and confusion. Of course they directed at me..

"I've been calling and calling pretty hard to get detective. Howard things at home so i've kind of turned to diana now because their options are running out with john. She's been forced out. I don't know john saw her. If maybe that was cut or something but jen has a sense of urgency. Now i guess she must have known was being stalked in the shower. Think as she got out of prison she wasn't free again. You know yeah. I guess yeah i guess maybe for the night. They did the sting. Operation and john was at shawn's apartment because i dunno i guess now he's supportive. I think he just wants the money from the house. If i'm being real with us. That's the baker. You you start to sends right away. We're going to have a problem in series with diana telling everyone that she is an undercover cop. Because diana's already loops are john's already looped sean into this and like she wasn't supposed to tell anyone. Yeah yeah i noticed that too so we're just talking freely about it now. Yeah cats out of the bag on that but it's like it seems like that would have been something they would wanted to save even for later on. It's just something. Yeah it just seemed to be thrown away pretty quickly so classic anxiety. Moment diana gets home. She can barely get her keys in the front door because she's so nervous about where her son is. She gets inside knowing. She can't find anyone anywhere. Finally she finds The nanny and her son in like a mud room both on headphones. I think learning how to read. Hopefully and you know i guess. The house phone was ringing off the hook so she took it off the you know she was ringing. She took it off the hook and then her cell phone died classic. You know she was the only one worried so. Jen is packing her house that night. And it's storming out in the lights. Keep cutting in and out and finally they cut off. She calls to sean. Who's already on his way down to the breaker in the basement. And you know john's panicking. She has every right to. And which doesn't that you know ivy is down there so every time the lightning strikes we get to see. I become a little bit. Closer to sean sean. So out of his league shuns nod even emotionally tuned into like. How harassed his girlfriend is. Yeah i found that kinda surprising to be honest. 'cause he's like baby come on now. I've convinced myself. He just wanted the house that's it. So he's fussing with the breaker. This guy definitely doesn't know how to do anything in a house ivy creeps closer and closer then we get to. Oh my god. There's like a full blown hostage situation. Julia calls diana. And she's like i'm on my way. And then she in clipper outside waiting a little bit later and he's like okay. We have to be careful like she has a gun. We have to approach those carefully. Julia tells her swat is coming. Don't go inside. I am shocked. She listened to this so abc's the two of them running toward the house. And she turns to. Sean john who are taped up bound to chairs and says you're knowing friends want a crash our party. I wanna play this scene because this is like almost a i loved the this is a classic. Mother made people podcast special. We got to play the villain revealing motives. Seen good comedy moment for this actress here. Fifty six thirty nine to fifty seven. You're annoying friends crash on harvey right. Let's get on with it. Let's not get a militia adults according to get anything done tonight right. See a given problem about of claude. And i realize now that what we have here is lack of resolution in that. Frankly chen is your own damn fault. Because you haven't made a decision so there's no clarity. My rights shock shock. You with me on this right shot. Shot shows up worth. of course he is this. Your behavior selfish. It's confusing and it's not fair. Not to sean. And certainly not to mean you know. Honestly i think all of this conflict could have been avoided if you just so. This is an intense scenes like one of the main scenes. We're gonna get with ivy. So i'm gonna play all of her parts because you know meanest var is a fantastic actress and i think you should be working more. We know why she's gone through a lotta shit in hollywood. I think she's great. I think she should be working even more so the cops are piling up outside. Swat is there. They've got the speakers up. Julia gets to the scene and she hides behind one of the cop cars. So we cut back to the inside of the house where i be continues to share her big plan. Would jen sean in the middle of all of this cliff accidentally. Lets them know that. He's trying to get into the house when they hear his radio. Go off by the door. "Support for NPR and the following message come from Dulles International Airport with the highest on time takeoff percentage of any airport on the east coast. I a d means I'm already departing more at fly, Dallas dot com slash fast. The energy department wants to undo an Obama era rule designed to make light bulbs more efficient. We're not talking about those pear-shaped bulbs. They've already changed over this new proposal involves just about every other kind of light bulb hairs NPR's Jeff Brady to explain in the past decade, the push for light bulbs that use less energy has made a lot of progress and that can make the light bulb. I'll at a big box store a little confusing. I'm looking for Bob to go inside of my refrigerator. John panic is holding burned out forty watt. Incandescent bulb in one hand and a package of LED bulbs in the other he likes that the LED's us one fifth the energy, but on the package, it says there Demel where I'm not going to be at refit your grade. So he ops for the old incandescent though. It turns out the dim -able LED would've worked just fine. This learning curve is part of a big change underway in the lighting business. No a Horowitz with the natural Resources Defense. Council says the country has been using incandescent bulbs for more than a century today. We have LED's, and they do everything the old incandescent could do except waste energy. You see the pear-shaped LED's everywhere. Now, add issue here is a wide range of other bulbs. Decorative Globes used in bathrooms reflectors recessed lighting candles shaped plates and three way bulbs at the very end of the Obama administration. The department of energy decided these also would have to become more efficient the lighting industry sued the Trump administration sided with the industry and now wants to reverse the regulation Horowitz says that will translate to higher energy bills and more pollution. Now, we're going to have to generate about twenty five large coal burning. Power plants worth of extra electricity of this rollback goes through this is really unnecessary in a really bad idea. And on top of that it's illegal that last point is a question. A judge likely will decide the national electrical Manufacturers Association argues, the Obama administration exceeded its authority by including all these specialty bulbs general counsel Clark. So says it's wrong to call the Trump administration's proposed reversal a roll back the department of energy cannot illegally roll back from a place that it could not legally stand upon in the first place that is important to the industry because rolling back energy efficiency requirements is not allowed under federal law and Silcock rejects claims the industry just wants to continue selling existing styles of bulbs by don't think anybody's focused on we want to sell energy hogging lightbulbs at all what they are focused on is what does their consumer want? And making sure that there is a high level of consumer satisfaction. The industry learned a hard lesson after the first generation of those curly. Compact fluorescent light bulbs were released consumers, basically did not like them. They didn't buy them. They complained about them. We heard that loud and clear Jennifer Dolan is with the company led Vance which manufacturers Sylvania lightbulbs she says the industry wants to make sure it gets the LED versions of all these other kinds of bulbs perfected before releasing them onto the market. She says more efficient bulbs or coming just not as fast as most advocates want future of lighting is Elliott. There's no doubt about that. And we see that in the marketplace, we see that consumers are shifting to LED's and much more rapid rate than we ever anticipated. But given climate change environmental groups argue this regulation is needed. Now when the Trump administration finalizes its reversal those groups plan to take the issue.
