"Rice of Entertainment Weekly. And Steve Green of Indiewire coming up in about 10 minutes. Have you looked at your Internet or your cable bill lately? And I mean a close look. You might find that the price has gone up from what it once was. We're going to tell you what hidden fees you can spot in that fine print. Stay tuned. Um This year's nominations for the M mean they really set records for diversity in acting categories, according to deadline 49 nonwhite performers have been recognized for their work. What's your take on that debt? It's obviously very exciting. Um especially because, you know, I should like to pick up the conversation about Lovecraft country. Um, I That show went off the rails. I think in the back half, but something that I don't think anybody, uh The doubt is, you know the great performances. Um and we're seeing like practice from that series are nominated in all the major drama categories, which is great, right? But then it also kind of makes wonder. You know how many shows any voters are watching. If there Pulling from a handful of shows to get to those nominations. Um, not to take it too far away from that. But you know, when you think about something like Hamilton, uh, being nominated, getting 12 nominations, Um yeah, not actually, it's not actually nominated in the limited series anthology slash t V Category, right? It's nominated for an outstanding pre recorded variety. Yeah, a lot of people surprised about this nomination for sure. I am with those people. I get How, um, you know, nebulous. Some of the guidelines are for you know Emmy voters, But it is really, you know, like, because when you look at the limited series acting categories, you know Are seven different performers from Hamilton in there, which you know gets you to that, you know, um, you know, multiple nominations for Asian Americans, Latinos and, um, black performers. Right? You know you have the rule. Maybe not bend the rules. But you know, you had to go a little bit outside the normal scope to get there. So you know, I mean, expect. This is what we I think we can all agree on is that any voters are creatures of habit. Hamilton has been a thing for the last Five years. Yeah, it's back to the diversity in action. I just want to Shout out some of the actors that were recognized Mikayla Cole finally getting recognition for her HBO show. I may destroy you. Sterling K. "With Valentine in the morning. I'm one of 43 My album one Oh 43 Maya Hollywood headlines. Star Wars star John Boyega says he would love to take over for reggae gene Page as the Duke Enbridge Britain. They did this Hollywood reporter roundtable discussion and John was talking to reggae, John about the show and everything and and Johnson. I'm just trying to get that Richardson Bunny and they were joking about it. But then he actually said, like, I would love to do that. And then reggae. John Page was like I'll tell you what I'll have that Star Wars money. You have the bridge it in my name with it. Both talked about how much respect and love they had for each other was a very, very funny interview, and Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson. Have decided after getting back together last fall, According to the news and TMZ, they decided to split up again. They've been very on and off. They have a daughter named true there the allegations of the cheating scandal and all that has been very upfront on heating up of the Kardashian's. Yes, but oh, he was the one who allegedly cheated her good story. Yes, and a couple different times. And then now there's been these other allegations about a party, but apparently they had already broken up at this point, but According to multiple sources. The couple hasn't confirmed anything. But other people are saying that yes, they have split up a couple weeks ago. I mean, you know how I feel about the Kardashians. It's crazy world and they have done well in their world and everything, and it's been a money making machine. But they are at the same time real people who have real lives. And her daughter True, You know, they've got a kid together, so I always I feel bad for people's situations like this, Even though they're super rich can do anything they want. The heart doesn't always no money. You know, the heart feels pain when it's been injured. The heart feels Sadness when it's gone through something. It doesn't matter how much money you have in the world, heartaches heartaches and also to what I try to remember when I see headlines about break up some relationships and things like everybody goes through this stuff, but a lot of times. It's very private, and you handle it with that person. And maybe your family and friends know what happened. But then with the Kardashians, especially everything is out there, especially having to with Chloe interest in and so it's just it's so hard with the back and forth and she's just trying to do what's right for her family and her daughter, so I always always feel really bad. For her, especially with this with this break up. I'm Joe Hollywood Headlines. Kate is 7 52. It's valentine in the morning. This is one of 43 month and we do have 1500 bucks. Come your way to a 25. "Corner this time of year in this city, not be so very dressed. Those mothers simply want the same as you. I run for every last one of them to choke on their daughter's hair of us you to claim a wife. Hey, sticks. Do you truly not planning and taking your place in society? When you have a Jew could have a title just wise. I'm concerned will end Hastings, your heart. Stop calling me That was my father's name. Never mind playing. This reluctant aristocrat was a career break out for Paige. And yet he won't be back for another season. Eric why Cheerio? You know, I hear those British accents and it just makes me wanna talk the way they can't resist. You can't resist. So, according to reports that we've seen in the trade press Bridget and the Syriza is sort of hewing to the storyline of Bridget in the novels that was based on this character was really only a factor in the first novel, which they told in the first season And so the actor said that when he was approached to do the role they had told him it would be for one season. The show's producers, went back to the actor and asked him if he'd be willing to make a guest appearance, and they offered him a bit of a payment. But he turned it down. I'm sure he has a lot of attractive offers in front of him. He was a breakout star from that season and what we're seeing on social media. I mean, there's fans who are heartbroken the sand they won't watch the show if he's not in it. So obviously he made an impression and he's making the most of it. But people in the TV industry are scratching their heads because you don't mess with the breakout hit and to have a key. Character that so many people enjoyed depart. The show is just, you know, it's gonna be a challenge for them. It's gonna be a huge challenge for them. Well, I think part of fans. Disappointment is they like to rig a John page on screen, of course, but they also I think liked the way he spoke out about the importance of diverse representation in costume dramas like Richardson. In fact, here he is doing just that. In an interview with CBS. We have a very long and san tradition off, excluding people from stories, excluding people from history, literally painting people out off historical pictures and documents. And so is the very least we can do to stop painting people back in time. I think if we're gonna have a great big fun Cinderella fantasy, the Christmas that the more people who can play that Morgan for invited to participate in that and see themselves as glamorous and worthy of love and status, the better So that's what he said on CBS. Eric But a zoo you mentioned earlier in season two is Scheduled to follow the books on which the Syriza's based is going to focus on a different member of the white Bridget in family, which sort of pushes Simon Basset out of the picture. I mean, is the serious, just limited by its source material here, Or does it signal you know a deeper problem if they actually can't hold on to their breakout star despite reportedly offering them $50,000 an episode to be a guest star. Yeah, I know $50,000 an episode sounds like a lot of money. But in Hollywood terms, you know, it's not exactly like they backed up the money truck to hold on to this guy. And so now we see we're in a situation where the characters of color are going to come and go around this white family that is at the center of the show, and I think if they had managed to keep that character, Simon Bassett in the mix It would have lesson that affect a little more, But now their challenge is to try and figure out how to create another character. That's justice compelling and make that person a person of color. You know, stuff like that is kind of like lightning in a bottle and expecting to be able to replicate. That is kind of a tall order. I think, well, this search for whoever might be next. Eric makes me think about something that the late Chadwick Boseman used to talk about. He sometimes talks about how there seemed to be on Lee run for a small number of black male leads in Hollywood. At any given time. And Bozeman, of course, now is being awarded several posthumous recognitions for his work on screen. And while reggae John Page has a promising film career ahead, he did say just this week, Eric that he was hurt to learn that race was reportedly a factor when he was passed over for the role of Super Man's grandfather in the TV series crypt on. So what does all this tell you about the state? Of affairs for blackmail leads in Hollywood whiling. What it tells me is that there is a push and pole between people who are safeguarding the traditional way of casting shows and people who want to take chances. But if you look at the Oscar race, or if you look at the Hollywood awards season race this year, you see a much wider range of leading men that I think we have ever seen. But what it does is it just reveals how limited our vision has been in the past and how much more that has to expand. So the good news for Bridget in is that they now have a chance to develop another magnetic, leading character of color to come to that show and do what the Dukes of Hastings did in the first season, and I hope that they rise to the challenge. That's NPR TV critic Eric Deggans. Eric. I would send you off with a thank you typically, but I guess I should say cheers today. Video governor here and now is a production of NPR and W. And then they were glad that they did because of reggae. John Page. Yes, he's he's normally It's undeniably the sexy, breakout hit of 2021. But X rated porn sites. Are exploiting our New bio young actors. Their bodies were going to do a job and Phoebe driving her. They're pirating Knake the nude sex scenes from it. And are racking up hundreds of thousands of views. This is way when people get even just a little bit of success, you know, success. They will have different nudity clauses. And, yes, things like this, you know, but It's all this unauthorized here footage because that was Pretty racy and there was racy, OK, and it's an erratically charge Soap opera even when you read the book. Yes, of course. They're romantic barks, but they're having Netflix. They're being exploited. Well, that's too bad. You are fairly upset. That's too bad. Yeah, Many clips have been removed from porn platforms after Netflix issued warnings about misuse of intellectual property. But if it's apparently difficult for That folks to keep up with the shady business of rogue online stuff, and it's been very distressing for Phoebe and Regi. John. I believe it, too. Young actors who signed up for the role of a lifetime and dot did not ex consent to being exploited in this right right wraps or not responding. Um, And of course, you know, they've told, you know, they've all the in the interviews I've seen with these two people were very interested to talk to them about sex, but they tiptoe around the sex scenes because it's morning TV or whatever. It's so dumb because it's like the one reason like, Yeah. You gotta watch a show. It's really beautiful. It's really great. Oh, my God, the sex or whatever you lead with that definitely. That would be one of the top three reasons when you tell somebody to watch it just because we don't see these kinds of Roman. I mean, that was one of them was made outlanders so exciting exactly because he had very pretty, You know, good graphic. Good sex scenes like we like that, like porn hub or something like that. I'll ish Who lost 100,000 instagram followers after she shared a syriza of images of boobs, not her boobs. But just, you know, drop hurtful drawings of boobs. So this is all part of the thing that's been happening on Instagram. I don't know if you guys have noticed an instagram stories. There's this whole post a photo of challenge. And, uh, it's like you asked post a photo of your dog or post a photo of your kindergarten picture and then so celebrities are doing that and apparently. Prompted by a fan asking Billy I'll ish post a picture of a drawing. You're really proud of Billy, I'll ish Shared a phone. Oh, the caption. Probably these and it's a syriza of already pictures of Naked ladies and snakes. Naked ladies and snakes. Hmm. Yeah, you know, and she was really proud of that. And you know, they're decent little doodles. Decent, really do it. Sorry. Yeah, so apparently She lost 100,000 followers. One fan tweeted because of boobs. Now Billy Alex has 72.9 million followers, so she probably has a lot of teenage fans who are paying attention to these statistics of her social media. Following But she did say that Then the hashtag breasts. Kate started to turned and then she just was like, Look, guys, you know y'all are babies if you can't handle drawings of boobies I mean, it is fascinating right? Because there's so many different like cultural overlaps like prudishness about sexuality and boobs on Instagram specifically, if you like free the nipple like we've been down this road before. That we're talking about it right now. But as I'm looking at these photos like they're they're very innocent. But then I also go down the road of like, I mean, I'm like critiquing her boob representations. And they're like they're different Boobs like so they're actually like three different kinds of boobs that I can see Three different kinds, huh? Right. Like they're categorized these three different kinds They're sort of like we'll say that there Plants. Say that again. Like implant. Yeah, Like, so there's the one where the person is like, like, um, sprawled out laying on her back, and they're like oranges. And then there are some sort of like pendulous. You know? Like just Yeah. Sewing. This is get going, right? And then there's sort of just like boobs, right? Like normal. I mean, not that all boobs aren't normal, but sort of a non, um On characteristically English noble boom. Yeah, just boobs right? So but that I find that fascinating Because then that tells you something about her like she was like, I'm gonna try these little boobies over here. Going to try these boobs over here, and she's actually good at like drawing bodies and body parts and sketching so like, why not? I just find I think it's fascinating. It is actually, now that I'm looking at the picture here. It's really interesting. Yeah. Yes, I mean, do you write on the body figure stuff? She's good at drawing that she really is. Yeah. So, you know, she just called out everyone who was calling her out and said, Like L m f E o y'all Babies. SMH, which is shake my head in Internet sling. So, Billy Alice is just like You know what, you prudes? Well, Speaking of boobs, Bridgehampton is all the rage over on Netflix. No grand. I heard you guys Madonna, and each show talking about this theory is that this is a new Shondaland Syria's that debuted on Netflix over the weekend. It's quite the bodice Ripper and the star of this show, who plays the Duke of Hastings. Regi John Page describes the show is a mix of Jane Austen, gossip Girl and 45 shades of gray home. So not quite as horny as 50. You only get 45. Just right under the line. Granted, if you are curious What was that? I was just gonna ask because you haven't watched it, Holly, right? I watched one episode. Okay s so I'm curious, then Grant. I don't know if you've watched an episode. But this is one of those things that now keeps popping up in the conversation online. And I think Do I need to watch it? Is this something I want to watch? I understand there appears to be sexuality. Whoa! But you know, like beyond the like, gratuitous sex. Do I need to watch this show? I would say. You know, Jessica told me that I should check it out. So I'm gonna check it out. You know, I've heard good things. I heard some bad things from Don, but I'm gonna check it out. I have not yet. Holly. You said you watched the first episode. What did you think? Yeah, You know, I think I'll watch a few more. It's not usually in to my speed because I'm not like these people are too good looking and bridge iton. It makes me uncomfortable. If that makes any sense. It just doesn't. It just doesn't feel like reality a little bit because it's just too many good looking people all around. Yeah, it's like that's not even possible. Your attractiveness is making me feel awkward. So if you want to have those same emotions go watch Bridgeton. It's streaming on Netflix. Right now. I love it. "Quit thomas finch. Oh oh there are. Things are a little loose here. This week. it's our. It's our end of your spectacular. So i love van and we're we're not. We're not necessarily firing on all cylinders. Think i think it was. I think it's been a win so far. This next question comes from page. Who asks hi. It's deer hankins. John page mill vodka. I like high is appropriate. I saw an instagram video of someone getting a pet moose You don't know this but petting moose has always been one of my lifelong goals. Now i did not know that about you page. You're right i want to pet a moose shirley ways now. I'm currently crying. Because i understand that i will probably will never pet moose but i want to. There is so big and cute. And i want a pet him. Loose question is how do i make this happen. Turn to three ninety four page. Why three ninety four. I don't know that's page. That's that's a secret just for page. What's on page three and ninety four. I don't know if that's a question that will be answering in our hit new podcast semi rhetorical questions with hang john. The book took down blake. Didn't have a pay to three ninety. Four yeah page. I'm going to hazard a guess that you want. A better moose. Because you've seen a lot of pictures of moose Because my experience of being in the presence of moose is that you do not want to pet them. Yeah i mean. I'd wanna pet moose. If it was a good moose somebody had had made it a pedal moose but like one. I don't know that something that someone should do. Yeah so. I don't know if i want to support them in that endeavor right and two. I don't trust him kozaru big. They're so big. Yeah one of the only times. I felt truly afraid. Yeah in the purest. Its purest form was when dad and i were rafting on the no attack river in northern alaska when i was like fourteen and we hadn't seen a person in ten days and then suddenly a moose how do you. How have you done things like that. What person was it did that. I was just thinking about about. I hate it. I know. I know doubt is listening. I i loved the time with dad. Yeah but i would have loved to spend that time with dad. I mean it was beautiful. It was beautiful. It was a great trip. Do you remember. I was thinking about that. Huck finn thing that you did. Were you like. Yeah with a bunch of other teens. Lashed a bunch of logs together and floated down the mississippi river river with like an adult yet. That's an interesting telling of the story. That's not what happened okay. That's how i've always imagined it. Ever since. I was a kid and you were doing this and i was like. Oh my god. I can't believe john's doing that. In some ways it was worse it was me and like a bunch of other thirteen year. Olds who who we did. Make the raft and then we rafted down the french broad river. Okay well less intimidating river in a lot of ways than the mississippi very similar to what i said so far but we were with one adult we were with one nineteen year old. See says way worse than i say know i. I walk at the nineteen eighties. Were a different time. You just ate anchovies. You came home and all you want to eat with was anchovies and bagels. yeah i still like an anchovy actually bagels are also not bad. Yeah that's all. I ate for like for like eight days and i lived out of a five gallon bucket that i had all my stuff in and it was pretty good. It was a good life and i. I had an awesome awesome time. But i do look back on that and think like wow that was court in some danger that i didn't fully understand at the. Yeah i mean like our parents were like yes barely a teen. Yeah go off and don't drown see in three weeks. I mean another way of thinking about it. Hank is that. When i went on that trip on the french broad river i was like fourteen months away from going to boarding school and having essentially no adult supervision for three years. I mean those are different where this is just not at all my experience. It's very strange. If we were going to ask people they would say that. The weird rafting trip is a thing i did. Yeah it's i mean we did have very different childhoods in a way. I think the experiences that people would associate with. Yeah you would be the like experiences of adventure and and everything and actually was like closer to my my childhood like you never really like went on crazy trips and got jobs in random places over summers when you were in college or in your twenties and i did that almost every year. Yeah i mean. It was the same person like i had all believe me. I brought all my. I brought all of my problems to the arctic. I was still me up there. That's the big problem with the geographical curious that you bring yourself with you but yeah that was weird anyway. The point is that if you're ever in the presence of moose in the wilderness right and it's a big bull moose you're not gonna want pet it. Yeah yeah. Yeah but if but if we're going to be thinking about like moose adventures. Like if i'm just gonna like imagine i wanna blake ride through the sky on a moose which reminds me the jay. Five guys is brought to you by writing in the sky on a moose. Riding in the sky on a moose. It's hank's depressed dream. I mean if.

Hey, admitted that he would have impeached They voted to impeach the president. He'd vote No. On Amy Bear. Amy Barrett's confirmation even claims to be an independent guy. He also lied and said, Oh, that RTL Cueto II. I never didn't shake his hand. I'd never happened. Art was mad. He's still mad. He is upset. We played that several times this morning. What art said on the show. How mark turn his back on him said You're one of them, Mark said yesterday when Martha called him out brilliantly, the that never happened. So ah, this guy he didn't look good yesterday. Second thing that I think you need to know to us. Do you want to talk more about this tomorrow but to USD might have just thrown themselves out of business. And if you're a teacher to you, Stu might be out of a job soon. Because 70% of your teachers, your fellow teachers don't want to work. So they voted this who boarded on a new hybrid plant that puts kids in to class for just a half day. That'll make him feel safe. So the teacher like weak, it's too unsafe. We can teach a full day. But we do a half day because the virus is so smart virus inking a virus if it's only a half day very ago. That's a brilliant move right there. Of course, they didn't even pick a start date for this. True he was hoping for after the election shocker. Right November, 12th. Why that date? One of the school board members said. How about January? Third thing. I think you need to know Viva coffeehouse targeted by Pema County and their health inspectors, And there they were Given a piece of your mind. They have shut him down the suspended their business license there. Just going after him. They're targeted on big time. I predict at some point later today, you'll see a story from high pants. Fake news, Bud Foster a capability To try to do some kind of disinformation campaign at the request of Chuck Huckleberry, That's what I predict will happen. It's happened before. So expect. Ah, thoroughly terrible report from high pants. Fake news. Bud Foster, who somehow was on Kayla these payroll and yet does whatever Pema count in the city to son wants Three things I think you need You know? Now. Um, I just told you about those great poll numbers again. Do you want to believe a pole? It's from that Democracy Institute poll. And they seem to be a hell of a lot more realistic than Biden up 11 in a CNN poll 15 and NBC news poll or something like that. I mean, it's give me a break. Right. That's enough. It's that's just insane. So the federalist Great website. Great reporting. They went out to eastern Michigan to find out what's going on because it is a swing state. What are people thinking out there? Right. What are they doing? This is right after Gretchen Whitmer was smacked down by the state State Supreme Court and said, You can't have your Corona virus lock down orders in place they're unconstitutional. And she got around it by the way because her health and human services director issued their own emergency order through there. Their agency. Relying on a different state statute. Good luck with that. I mean, it is you want to talk about making people mad. Go ahead. Okay. So in this story, um They talk about and they're they're honest about about trouble. Then I'm a fan. I'm biased. I don't know why people have a problem with it, but some people do. Everybody's different, so they go to a place called Joe's Shamrock Irish Pub in downtown Utica, Michigan, just north of Detroit. So they go there. The Federalist goes there. Talk to the person that owns the building. Jones the building. Um And I guess they have some regulars back now they finally open up a little bit. One of the regulars is John Page, 62 year old guy. Retired automotive engineer. Made his second town second drive to town this week to have a lunch special a burger, You name it double, plus a Muggle, a bad blue or Killian's. This. John paints a Republican, and he's planning to vote for Trump. But that doesn't mean he's thrilled. Quote trumps an a hole, he told us. He said. Reagan was the last president. I was excited about It expected here in Macomb County in Michigan, because that's where the term Reagan Democrat was coined. 40 years ago in blue collar Democrats tossed aside party loyalty voted for Ah, for Reagan. McComb went for Obama in 8 4004 years ago went back to Trump Back to the Republicans. For Trump won Michigan by fewer than 10,000 votes. So this is what the federals there's also reporting today, there's not many signs of a strong Democratic ground game in Macomb County. One longtime local business owner, who asked not to be named, told us the Democratic office is three miles away, but caution. They're usually not there. In 2012..
