We've lead different. Lives we come together. And we have a lot of commonality where music comes together but We're perfectly capable making records and doing things individually fritzy. Vibe was good but we felt there on both talk after we listen to it in its entirety. We said something's missing. We didn't know what it was so after the listening party we we were in the village. We recording at electric lady on eighth street in greenwich village and we went to a pizza place which was literally half a block down the street and we were having some pizza and on the jukebox came the righteous brothers original version of you lost that loving feeling and we looked each other go. Why don't we just cut that. And so the next morning we went into the studio with the band. We cut it in half a day. recorded the track sang-song put it on the album and it became a big hit for us so it was just one of those things who just kind of happened but and you were also we are the world right. I mean there were a lot of different people in their. How how how you explain that. Though i mean you had was waylon jennings there i. I'm not sure dan ackroyd. No no no. We're only only musical performance in the are you shore. Well he might have been there. A you know what there was so much going on. It was so heady to be in that room. All i know is where i was standing where they placed me in the group. Ray charles was off my left show op dylan was all and all i do is i was in a really good place. I said this is cool. I don't know what is happening here. I feel good about where i'm at right now. I i see. Are you ready. Yes okay. John you can choose to jump in or you can just sit there and listen. I don't know. Dan thanks of just finished a tour so It's it's great to be here in our cabin in colorado and i'm going gets a little bit of our and our before we resume but anyway it's great to talk to you and whenever i go to paris and i'm having breakfast i have. I have breakfast with john. Of course now but of course now i knew i knew you but i didn't know if you knew me that's what i thought. Well i'm just gonna walk over and say alot. Now you're going to be honest. I took i took the croissant. Out of my mouth was no. Of course i know you and you know i'm a sports fan i've value and watch your show and y- was great mean it's always great to see a fellow Yank in a foreign country and you know it reminds me of the good old days man when we just traveled around and enjoyed being in europe. So things have changed but yeah. That was a. That was a good time. All right your favorite band or artist's that you performed with over the years is who. Wow that's a heck of a question in a we performed. I don't know where to begin. We perform we opened for stevie wonder we open for david bowie on his first american tour blood sweat and tears. We played with You know we've played with when done shows with the eagles and it list goes on. I mean we've been doing this for almost fifty years so but bowie again. Bowie was ziggy. Stardust this was. It was his first. It was the first show on ziggy stardust. Tour and we opened for in memphis tennessee. Absolutely what did you think when you saw the way. I was shocked because i had been a fan of him for his first album. Hunky dory which which was kind of an experimental singer songwriter. Acoustic kind of record. And i had no idea what he was going to do when he came out in the sequin. You know sn- with the red hair and the whole bit. I was like okay so you can actually do that in your take. I opening honestly but then you're with stevie wonder list goes on and on you know we you know we did live aid in philly with mick jagger tina turner and we played the apollo theater with eddie kendricks and david ruffin from the temptations. I mean i really you know what just been blessed and fortunate to be part of a great era in rock music history and you know i feel like we got a chance to pick the cherries from the top of the tree. You know but would you rather talk music but rather sports. I'll talk sports. We're on sports to a man. I i love sports. I'm i've been you know. I'm an amateur athlete. I guess you could say over the years when i was in school and always love to always love football but it was always too small to play and well i was in junior. High wasn't too small. Until i kept getting my butt kicked and then i said i'd better concentrate on and mike. It's our okay. You get a chance to meet nick sabin. Oh yes what was that like. We were playing in tuscaloosa. And the promoter was a an alabama lung and we had it was right. He said he said to me he goes after soundcheck. Do you want to go over and see alabama practice. I said yes. And i get got a bunch of the guys in the band together. We went over there and it was. It was an amazing experience. I have to say if if you ever have to question about why alabama is alabama. Just if had the good fortune to take a tour of their facility and see what happens inside that room. It's you know you'll become a believer immediately and it was really interesting because we actually got to meet coach saban and they told us when we first came in that he very rarely sees any wandering during season and so we were seeing sure. Of course whatever you know every says well. We went up to his office and he has a nice Nice woman who kind of handles things for them up there. And i said any chance i could sit at his desk. Said sure i said the guy wears head and she says yeah i said what about can i put the rings on and she said absolutely because he had always rings on the front desk. There's a picture of me. I'll send it to you as a picture of me sitting at his desk with the hat going and we got all the rings on and it was amazing and then in the next room he was sitting there doing some paperwork and he graciously got up and spent Spent a good five ten minutes with us and we talk. But i could tell his mind was somewhere else. Even though he was he was very very cordial with us but he was. He was focused on and it was an amazing experience. So i have to say we saw jalen hurts and two were both practicing with two different groups at the same time. It was during that period of time and it was great. It was amazing. But when i first met you in paris in you said you love the sec like how did you fall in. Love with sec. Football i moved to nashville. i had i had. I had no choice You know you you live in the south you. You eat sleep and drink. Sec and it's you know and quite frankly you know it's it's just an amazingly competitive and very high level of of Excitement and if the fans it's culture it's a culture in the south. It's more than just football game. Have you guys on the anthem. At a sporting event. I've done anthem a number of times I did the anthem I in fact we just played denver. Just two nights ago at at the former pepsi center. And i i i did. The anthem was for nuggets game. But the most memorable one was when i did the anthem for the phillies against the rays on the famous game. That got rained out. The only game. I think in world series history that rained out and wind it out. I mean i remember people they were hitting balls and the ball was landing from look so i got to sing. Sing it there. And i sung in an unknown number of times and then you guys just got off a tour. You're traveling around the world and then you're coming back stateside and then you'll start here is not just due due to covert. We had you know. Obviously we were offering a year and a half which lasted twelve twelve cities and we started august fifth quite frankly. I wasn't sure whether we were going to make it to today If if our tour manager called me in the morning and said hey doodo home. It wouldn't have surprised me but the fans turned out that the audience was incredible. We we had a very secure ovid safe bubble among our our team and our crew No one got sick so you know. I counted as big win and we just finished that and resume on september eighteenth. We start maryland. We go down south and we ended up at the hollywood bowl on october first. Who is your favorite band grownup. Well well i'm. I'm going to show my age but you know i'd go back to the early days of rock and roll berry elvis little richard and then up through the sixth grade be that came out of stax. Volt you know. Salmon dave otis redding curtis mayfield chicago the temptations lot. The great filly artists as well. So you know it's been a mixed bag. I love singer songwriters joni mitchell. I'm big fan of band. So i had a really eclectic tastes when it comes music. But you guys don't refer to yourself as whole notes i mean. Isn't it every album..

"Care about touchdown passes in season. I can we gonna be upset if somebody throws more than fifty five touchdown passes. I don't think so rushing for two thousand yards breaking eric. Dickerson's all record. I don't think anybody like what record in football do we care about. Single season receptions. Do we care about two thousand yard receiving. I don't think we care about anything sacks. I think we cared when stray hand got the host sack against brett farve. But i don't. I don't think anybody's going if somebody gets twenty five sacks in a season we're gonna go to an extra game. I don't know it's like baseball. What records do we care. That could be broken if somebody bats four hundred all right then. I'd be curious about that but we haven't added extra games in in fact we've we've diminished the philosophy of trying to put the battle in the ball and baseball. Nobody's gonna come close to batting. Yeah pulling it's like the record for most rushing yards in a season by running back. If you were true about it you would say. Oj simpson because he fourteen games here in seventy three ran for one hundred forty three yards per game. That's the best ever now. If he would've played sixteen games he'd be at twenty three hundred fifty yards. He would be the record but nobody gives. Oj credit as the single single-season rush record guy. And he is. I don't know if there's any zero record that we don't see broken mclovin. I like that saxon. If aaron donald did it that would be nowhere like it has to be. But nobody's going to be upset. If aaron donald sets the single season record for sacks. I i think that would be nowhere. That be cool. That'd be a cool story line of watch but there's not another stat where you go. That will never be broken. It like steroids in baseball. The passing numbers got so ridiculous. That the the passing records are irrelevant. Let me take a break because this could be one of the great moments in todd. Fritz hit history here we do know how much he loves hall another and you make everyone's dreams come. I'm just saying.
